Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Hello, we are broadcasting live from the Fox Sports Radio studios.
I'm very excited to have the amazing Bridget conded with
me today. Bridget, Welcome to Fox Sports Saturday, Tracy.

Speaker 3 (00:16):
This is a dream come true. Two girls that just
like to yap and we get to do it on
Fox Sports Saturday. Couldn't be more excited. And what a
day it was yesterday in sports to kickoff the weekend.

Speaker 4 (00:26):
I cannot wait to get right into this.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Basically, you guys are going to learn what it's like
to be on the phone with me and Bridget in
any of our daily conversations. And before we get into
the NBA Finals with Game two tonight, want to congratulate
Texas for winning the Women's College World Series, Coco Golf
for winning her first role in Garros Women's Final. As

(00:48):
you said, great start to the weekend, but let's talk
about the big game tonight, the NBA Finals. I feel
like the playoffs have been going on sort of since
the beginning of time. I mean, the NBA Playoffs go
on from April to June. That's a very long time.
So the fact that we're finally here game two of
the Finals.

Speaker 3 (01:08):
I cannot wait to talk about this because there was
a lot of talk heading into the finals that they
weren't going to live up to the hype.

Speaker 4 (01:16):
People said they wouldn't watch.

Speaker 3 (01:17):
They have it on the background, two teams under the
luxury tax, there were no star players. Well, game one,
Tracy delivered. And I bet you one thing, if you
weren't tuned into Game one, you will be for Game two.
They were even talking about this in my Orange theory class,
and that's when you know that everybody is dialed in
and you want to know why. One guy, Tyrese Halliburton,

(01:39):
he would like a word.

Speaker 4 (01:41):
What the helly Burton?

Speaker 2 (01:43):
They are the comeback kids. They've been down by fifteen
the fifth time this postseason. They've come back from that
large deficit. That's insane, insane, and Halliburton gets the game
winning shot point three seconds. The Thunder are stunned, like
definitely like stunned us into submission, so to speak. And
how how do they bounce back from that? I think
they're built to do that, But Tyre's Halliburton, who fun fact,

(02:05):
everybody close friend of One Rock Party.

Speaker 3 (02:08):
That's why we love you, Tracy. I'm here always with
the Niners references.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
I like a fun fact too. There is really nothing
I love more than a fun fact. I like it
a lot more than facts. But I'm big into fun facts.
But Tyre's Halliburton has been absolutely incredible. It's just fun.
Basketball's fun. I love it. I love the finals. I
love the playoffs. Game two tonight, Okay, Bridget, if you're
Oklahoma City, what do you do? How do you bounce

(02:32):
back from that? Mentally? And I understand these are professional athletes
and this is what they do, but that's a tough
way to lose at home in Game one.

Speaker 3 (02:39):
I was listening to what SGA said after the game
after that loss, and it was kind of interesting to
hear his perspective. He was like, a loss is a loss.
Doesn't matter how we lost, even though they were leading
the entire game until the final point three seconds. But
this is interesting to me. The most important game is tonight,
not just because it's the next game, but because how

(02:59):
they respond is going to dictate what happens in this series.
If they come out and they're angry, they're fed up,
they regain their home court advantage, then okay, maybe this
thing goes to six games.

Speaker 4 (03:11):
Goes to seven games.

Speaker 3 (03:12):
If they come out with that in their mind, knowing
how Tyres Haliburton essentially embarrassed them on their home court,
that's going to stick in their mind and they're not
going to be able to get over it. I could
see the Pacers sweeping this thing.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
I think that's shout now. I will say this for
the thunder. They've been here before in these playoffs. This
happened to them in Game one against the Nuggets, and
they bounce back really well in game two. So they
are built for this. But Sja is going to need
some help. He had thirty eight points. He needs Chet
Williams and Jalen Williams. I'm sorry, yes, Chet HOLMERG thank

(03:48):
you very much.

Speaker 4 (03:49):
I'm grim sorry.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
We'll go to you guys. When I was typing this morning,
I just went fast as As and Jalen Williams need
to help him out. They were not really helping him
early in the game. They forced twenty five turnovers and
lost the game. Shows from a scoring perspective, it's gonna do,
Laura of a little team effort. There's share the ball,
and he's got to share the ball.

Speaker 3 (04:05):
I mean, thirty eight points sounds great, but when you're
not sharing the ball, getting your teammates involved, he can't
do it all by himself. And that I just want
to go back to talk to about Tyre's Haliburton for
a second, because we.

Speaker 2 (04:16):
Can talk about him for as many seconds as you want.

Speaker 3 (04:18):
Can we can we carve out a couple of minutes here,
because I've got a lot to say about him.

Speaker 4 (04:22):
This guy was voted.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
Most overrated player, not by fans, not by media, by
his peers, by the guys he plays with on the court.

Speaker 4 (04:33):
You know what that tells me? Tracy has somebody.

Speaker 3 (04:35):
Ever like done you wrong and been like, oh, you know,
I'm gonna I'm jealous of Tracy whatever, and then it
made you work that much harder.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
Of course, this guy, I would like to know if
Tyre's Halliburton sent a group text the entire league after that,
just with like a meme of him hitting that or
just like.

Speaker 3 (04:50):
Bet bet, because what he is doing is proving not
only everybody watching or not watching because there are no stars,
he is proving the guys that he plays against on
the court that he.

Speaker 4 (05:04):
Is a star. And we have this person, this star,
emerging before our eyes. How fun is it?

Speaker 3 (05:11):
His fourth game winner of the playoffs this season. He
has five in his career. You know who else had
only five in their career, Kobe Bryant. And so this
guy is doing that this early. Like, if you have
a last second shot that wins the game one time, okay,
it's luck. You do it four times in an entire
single playoffs, that's not luck.

Speaker 4 (05:32):
That is a star emerging before our eyes.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
That's mister clutch. That's who mister bigshot. That becomes when
you see all these memes on social media that are,
all right, ten seconds left in the game, who do
you pick to hit the game when he shot? It's
Tyre's Haliburton.

Speaker 4 (05:45):
It's what the helly? What the helly? Burton?

Speaker 2 (05:47):
I like every time.

Speaker 4 (05:48):
And this is a rap song.

Speaker 3 (05:49):
If you guys aren't familiar with it, go go listen
to it. That's why I keep saying, what the helly,
what the helly Burton?

Speaker 4 (05:55):
What the Hellyon?

Speaker 2 (05:55):
And if it makes anybody feel better? I was not
familiar with it until maybe.

Speaker 4 (06:00):
I should stop. Maybe people are like, what is this
girl saying?

Speaker 2 (06:02):
No, I think you're sending a trend. You're influencing because
you are you are an influencer. You want my hot take, Tracy,
I do want your hot take. It's one oh seven,
we're only seven minutes in. I don't know if I
can give it to you, but why not just start
the show with a bank I think you start with
a hot take? All right?

Speaker 3 (06:20):
This playoff run is more legendary than the two thy
eleven Mavericks run. You know who also was the coach
there for the MAVs. It was Rick Carlyle, the same
coach for these Pacers. And if they win, Tyrese Halliburt
in cements his name as the new face of the NBA.

Speaker 4 (06:35):
It's not gonna be Luca your guy.

Speaker 2 (06:37):
I'm sorry, but it's not Luca.

Speaker 4 (06:39):
If he's not SGA.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
No, he's competing with like the Ann Edwards Ann Edwards essentially,
like he's competing with.

Speaker 3 (06:44):
This guy is going to be a household name for
seasons to come if he can finish this out and
bring a ring home to Indiana.

Speaker 2 (06:56):
So over on the OKC side, first of all, I
want to address I think it's a good hot take.
I think you're right. I think this it's also huge because,
as you mentioned before, you've got two small market teams
people said they weren't stars. It's not interesting if they
make it interesting. If everybody's tuning in paying attention to
game two, I am. I mean I was going to
pay attention to game too anyway, but yes you were.

(07:17):
But girl, though, I will say this, in my plates class,
no one was talking about it. And I feel like
if they win tonight and Halliverton has a heck of
a game, they might be talking about it my pilates class.
But I agree with you. I think this is a
tremendous run. I think this is where I mean, you
guys are about to get really cheesy and dramatic, but
this is where legends are born, no legends are made.

Speaker 3 (07:39):
Look this team, they made it to the Eastern Conference
finals last year, but people kind of forgot that they've
been working on not just this season, but they've been
building to this moment and we aren't really talking about
them until now because it's not Boston, it's not New York,
it's not Los Angeles. It's a small town. It's Indiana.
They're a small market team. But they're here and my
eyes are wide open, and you should be not yours,

(08:01):
I mean everybody listening.

Speaker 2 (08:02):
I mean they are I have my glasses on so
like they're open, I can see like everything is, everything
is going well. I want to talk a little bit
more about OKAC and kind of what they need to do.
They need to finish shots, which kind of goes back
to the scoring situation. They need to again, I'm gonna
get dramatic. Beware the Pacers corner threes. That is where
Indiana Indiana I want. I always want to call them

(08:23):
the Indianapolis Pacers because of football. Always, always it's where
Indiana was really able to take over and it's why
they were in a position to win at the end
of the game. So I will say that. But I'm
I am excited for this one and for chet Holmgrin
You're welcome everybody.

Speaker 3 (08:41):
And I said Holmberg at first, I don't even know
what Homeburg is. Why did that come into my head?
I don't know, Sorry about that.

Speaker 2 (08:48):
Maybe there's a Homeburg out there that we just don't
know about. He's just not playing in the NBA Finals yet.
But when he suns in tonight again an influencer. All right,
So Game two, pretty exciting stuff coming up. I want
you guys to know that Bridget is also getting a
crash course in what it's like to be at home
watching a Dodger game with me because the Dodgers are
on in the studio right now, and am I sort

(09:12):
of paying attention to that, of course, But this is
a sports talk show and that's what we need to do.
But port Bridget before we started, got a lot of
my yelling at the TV and also my trying to
be encouraging to the players.

Speaker 4 (09:23):
Tracy feels like she is the coach of this team.

Speaker 3 (09:26):
And I never understood people like this who scream at
the TV. I'm not a big screamer at the TV.
People who scream at the TV telling the team what
to do. It's one of those things where it's like
they can't hear you, Tracy.

Speaker 4 (09:38):
But I love that fandom, that passion.

Speaker 3 (09:42):
You have your sparkly Otawi sweatshirt on right now for
everybody who can't see her. You are the definition of
a fangirl and that's.

Speaker 4 (09:49):
Why we love you. We need that energy.

Speaker 3 (09:51):
But yeah, if you need to pay attention, if something's
crazy's happening, I got you.

Speaker 4 (09:55):
I got your girl.

Speaker 2 (09:56):
I appreciate you, and I will say this, I don't
buy so much scream as to TV. I do a
lot of encouraging, like come on, Yosh, you got this,
Like come on, Alex, you can get this out, come
on show as But I feel like they could feel it.

Speaker 4 (10:08):
It's the aura that you put out into aura. I
love that aura, and.

Speaker 3 (10:11):
They can feel it, like, oh, Taani, he's about to
strike out and then he Tracy's like, come on show, Hey,
come on show hey. And you know what happens. He
hits a Homer. I'm not gonna say that those two
things aren't correlated.

Speaker 2 (10:24):
You can never prove that they're not correlated. But you
brought up aura, and we've talked about Halliburton, who has aura.
I think he can get sweat and he's got swag.
I think you could say show Hoey of Tawi has aura.
Who else right now in the world of athletics would
you say has some serious aura? Aaron Rodgers, we're gonna

(10:45):
talk about him a little while. I'm gonna not give
him aura. You no offense.

Speaker 4 (10:51):
You're against Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 2 (10:53):
I don't say that. I don't want to sayhim against
Aaron Rodgers. I think that's a strong term.

Speaker 4 (10:57):
You're over him.

Speaker 2 (10:57):
I'm a little bit over him, but I don't want
to talk so much about it because we're going to
be talking about him later. We have a guest coming
on to talk about him, and in our next segment,
I will be sharing many of my opinions on Aaron Rodgers.
But I want I want one more, one more person
with aura. Somebody could have been the NBA playoffs baseball players.
There a football player with aura right now? Is there
somebody who'd like to get aura?

Speaker 4 (11:19):
You have aura?

Speaker 2 (11:20):
That's very kind of you. You know who I would
like to see get some aura this season? Oh? Okay,
yead no the yeah? I mean brock Party. I think
has he's got He's got aura. I think i'd like
to see Kayleb Williams get some Aura. I'd like to
I'd like that for him. And of course JJ McCarthy,
what's going on with JJ? What do you mean? What's
going on with Jj?

Speaker 4 (11:37):
We got to see him.

Speaker 3 (11:38):
We got to see him take the field before I
can talk about him. He can't extended period of time.

Speaker 2 (11:43):
Well, we can't judge him until he takes the field.
But we will be seeing him take the field. He
is their quarterback. When you said that, though, you scared me,
I was like, what is going on with JJ. But yeah,
I those are my people that I want to have. Aura,
all right, I am going to ask you for tonight.
Who do you think is going to win the game.

Speaker 4 (12:02):
I think the Pacers are gonna win.

Speaker 3 (12:04):
I think we are witnessing the rise of Tyrese Haliburton.

Speaker 2 (12:10):
The documentary is going to be amazing, and I hope they.

Speaker 4 (12:12):
Use this sound.

Speaker 3 (12:14):
Rick Carlisle knows how to take a nobody team and
win a championship. He did it in twenty eleven and
he's going to do it again, and it starts tonight.
SGA can only do so much for OKAC, and tonight
it is going to prove why just because small markets

(12:34):
make it to the finals doesn't mean the sport is over.

Speaker 2 (12:38):
There's gonna be drama, a beautiful monologue, and I think
somewhere the entire NBA has applauded you for that. But
I'm going out in silver. Silver somewhere somewhere. His ears
just perged up and he clapped and he doesn't even
know why. I am going to disagree with you though.
I think that OKAYC comes back. I think that the
thunder comes back. They win tonight. I think chet Holmgren

(12:59):
and a Williams are going to help SGA out and
I think they will have learned a lot in the
last couple of days. And I think this series is
going to even up. I think it's fun for basketball.
If the series evens up. I would love to see
the seven game finals. But that is what I am
going with. So that's uh, that's what I say about that.

Speaker 3 (13:16):
If Oka se loses this series, it'll be because of
their lack of experience and folding under pressure. If they can,
the documentary is so good, you want me to keep going.

Speaker 4 (13:26):
I got some more.

Speaker 3 (13:28):
Indiana thrives playing fast. We know that, right, Okay, see
got in trouble there. The Pacers capitalized on the turnovers.
If they can play their style of basketball tonight, slow
things down, remember that they're at home, and just not fold.
I mean they went on a what thirteen and four
run in the final minutes of the game, fifteen and
four run. They got to just hold their composure and

(13:49):
have a little more swag, have a little confidence that
they can close out this game. I mean, they're one
of the best teams in the league for a reason,
and just go out there.

Speaker 2 (13:58):
And prove it.

Speaker 4 (13:59):
I love that, but I want the Pacers swim. I
don't know why. Well, it's okay, I have no ties
to Indiana.

Speaker 2 (14:04):
You're allowed. Well, I'm going to close out this segment
on that. I hope the documentary producers are listening and
clipping the sound you guys, We will be back with

Sports Radio videos on YouTube. Bridget, we were talking about Aura.
You made a joke about mister Rogers. For those of
you who have missed it, Aaron Rodgers is now the
Pittsburgh stel new quarterback. He made them wait for months
and months and months to make it official, even though
everyone knew that he was going to be their quarterback.

(15:08):
It's a reportedly over thirteen million dollar deal for one year.
I am having trouble imagining this working. Maybe that's because,
as you mentioned earlier, I'm just kind of over Aaron Rodgers.
But maybe I'm wrong about this. Maybe it's gonna be great.
I would love to hear your thoughts on this.

Speaker 4 (15:27):
I'm gonna take the other side.

Speaker 2 (15:29):
Okay, that's what I didn't it fun of it, Okay.

Speaker 4 (15:31):
Okay, But I just want to let you know.

Speaker 3 (15:33):
Do you know how much time of my life, specifically
my NFL career, that I have spent waiting for Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 2 (15:41):
And that's how he wants it. I give him credit
on that. He always is part of the conversation no
matter what.

Speaker 3 (15:47):
Finally we have it one year deal. He passed his physical.
He will be there next week on the field. Look,
the Steelers have been looking for stability since Big Ben
retired after the twenty twenty one season. We've now had
four seasons. This will be the fourth season since he retired.

(16:08):
Rogers will be their six starting quarterback since then, Mitch Trubisky,
Kenny Pickett, Mason Rudolph, Justin Fields, Russell Wilson. Now Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 2 (16:19):
First of all, what a collection of quarterbacks that is
something else.

Speaker 4 (16:23):
It kind of feels like the Browns quarterback.

Speaker 2 (16:25):
Round, like one hundred and ten.

Speaker 4 (16:29):
There are a few ways to look at this.

Speaker 3 (16:31):
And Jets fans they know that right because they thought
signing Aaron Rodgers would be the end of their misery.
They're going to the playoffs, at least the playoffs. They
thought they were winning a super Bowl.

Speaker 2 (16:42):
They did.

Speaker 4 (16:43):
None of those things happened, they did not.

Speaker 3 (16:45):
This might just be what Pittsburgh needs, though I'm not
talking about New York. Pittsburgh has not won a playoff
game almost a decade since twenty sixteen. They beat the
Chiefs in the divisional round. Let's lay out the facts
here out. Aaron Rodgers one of the most precise, if
not the most precise passers of our generation.

Speaker 4 (17:06):
Would you agree with that?

Speaker 2 (17:07):
I would agree with that he knows what it takes
to win. I would agree with that he.

Speaker 4 (17:11):
Won back to back MVPs not that long ago.

Speaker 2 (17:14):
That is fact.

Speaker 3 (17:15):
That is a twenty twenty twenty twenty one. The Steelers
open the season against the Jets in New York on
September seventh, and Aaron Rodgers is going to make them cry?

Speaker 2 (17:30):
Do you think though he might make them CRY's that's
a possibility. I mean, time will, I mean, if anybody act.

Speaker 4 (17:36):
I mean, look, if you say it like that, it
could be tears of laughter.

Speaker 2 (17:40):
It could definitely be tears of laughter. The Jets may cry.
I just generally don't think it's a good idea to
cry after game one of the season, no matter which
way it goes. But that's just me. I just when
you say it like that, there's just like this matchup
between the Jets and the Steelers having hard time, it's
gonna be cool to see Aaron Rodgers. Let's see how
he does that. Those uniform colors I'm very on the

(18:02):
fence about with him in them. But it's not exactly
a matchup where you're like, I cannot miss the Jets
versus the Steelers. I just I don't feel that way.
But that could be because I'm gonna have to miss
it because I'll be covering a game and I'm trying
to make myself feel better, or you're a haters.

Speaker 4 (18:23):
So many people that hate Aaron Rodgers and want nothing
to do with him. I have no.

Speaker 3 (18:28):
Idea why I still have a little bit left in
me to see what he does. I think it's because
I like the I like a good ending to a story.
I hated seeing Tom Brady and the way he did.
I know that he went to Tampa Bay and won
a Super Bowl. I wish he would have just retired. Yes,
I love like a full circle moment. I want Aaron
Rodgers to go out with a bang, and I don't

(18:49):
know why. I know that there are a lot of
people that don't feel that way.

Speaker 2 (18:52):
I don't. I don't necessarily not want him to go
with the bank. To be honest, I don't really have
strong feelings either way on how he does, and I
don't I think would be strong. I just don't have
a lot of confidence. I think that's what it is.
But I don't. I mean, if he goes out there
and he plays well, I think great. Great for Pittsburgh,
great city, great people, great fans. Really like Mike Tomlin.

(19:12):
So great for Pittsburgh, great for Aaron Rodgers. I just
I'm over the drama. I'm over the making sure he
is part of the conversation no matter what is going on.
I'm just over all of that. But should he come
in and play well.

Speaker 5 (19:28):
Cool.

Speaker 2 (19:28):
Good for you, Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 4 (19:29):
I don't.

Speaker 2 (19:30):
I don't have super strong feelings that way. I just
a little bit. I think it also makes me sad.
I'm now I'm the kind of thinking out loud here. Yeah,
I think it also makes me sad, and that would
also be a very strong word. But he's Aaron Rodgers.
I mean, he is one of the best, which is
why he needs.

Speaker 3 (19:45):
To go out on top in my opinion, because the
past two seasons with New York it kind of like
has I don't want to say washed away his legacy,
but like it definitely made it a little money.

Speaker 2 (19:55):
Well, I think what made it muddy was the all
the off field stuf. Yeah, that's why they made it money.
And so I would love to see him do well there.
I just I just don't have a lot of confidence.
But listen, Aaron Rodgers, go out there, prove me wrong.
Make me cry after the Jets Steel plays so well,
Tracy cry like so well that I am in tears

(20:18):
in the Seattle Press fox about to cover the four
Natards game because you played. I can't wait to so well,
Please please do all be at the Starbucks.

Speaker 3 (20:25):
My one thing that I'll say, and I don't know
why I'm taking this side, like I could be persuaded
either way. I totally get what you're saying. And I'll
say this real quick because I know we're going to
talk to Brooke Pryor, who has a much better read
on this. She's in the Steelers locker room every day.
You don't sign him to hand the ball off thirty
times a game. And that is what the Steelers, Mike Tomlin,
Arthur Smith have built themselves on. And that's AFC North football,

(20:47):
hard tough nosed football. They run the ball, they beat
you with their defense. So how does Aaron Rodgers fit
into this? And to his taking so long to sign
kind of makes me think that he's in the driver's
seat and how will that impact his relationship with Arthur Smith?
Not only Mike Tomlin, but Arthur Smith primarily their offensive coordinator.

Speaker 2 (21:09):
He's definitely in the driver's seat on this because had
he decided not to sign with them, what would they do?
They would have a I mean, you or I might
be playing quarterback for the Steelers like they. He is
for sure in the driver's seat here. I think it's
going to be I do think it's going to be
fun and I'm excited to see it. And yeah, AFC
North football, that's like a brand of football that I

(21:29):
don't feel like any other division has. So let's see
how it goes. In the interim. Let's head over to
Martin Weiss, who are Sports Break.

Speaker 6 (21:39):
Top of the ninth thinning, the Blue Jays and the
Twins Toronto with they four to three leads, Minnesota trying
to come back there. Bottom of the eighth inning, Yamamoto
pitch a scoreless through Cardinals Dodgers. Cardon's score list so far,
Billy's and the Pirates one tied up. Bottom of the
second inning. Billy's also plays Bryce Harper on the ten
day Andrew list with right.

Speaker 2 (21:58):
And wrisk inflammation.

Speaker 6 (22:00):
Rangers with a two to nothing lead over at Washington
with the top of the second, then the top of
the third on Major League on MLB Network, Braves and
Giants scoreless. Reds with a three to nothing lead over
the Diamondbacks. Earlier today, the Reds beat the Diamondbacks in
ten innings, four to three in a game that was
resumed after being suspended by rain. Top of the second
scoreless between the Gardens and the Astros bottom of the

(22:22):
first same story, Marlins and Rays Royals with they one
to nothing lead over the White Sox top of the
second inning. In college baseball, LSU with a ten to
four lead over West Virginia in the bat and rushup
of Regional Game one, Auburn with they won US top
of the sixth inning. There Auburn with they one to
nothing lead over Coastal Carolina bottom of the fifth inning,

(22:43):
and the Auburn two Regional Game two. Coastal Carolina has
a one game lead in that series. Earlier today, we
saw Miami tie up the series with Louisville. Game two
now series tied with one appeas Miami nine to six. Arizona.
Excuse me, Arizona tied up their series with North Caro
line that ten to eight. The Coco Golf, the twenty

(23:03):
one year old American won the French Open Ladies single
title golf, second career Grand Slam championships. She also won
the US Open in twenty twenty three. And Memphis greatest
center Zach edy Re injured his left ekle and a
off season workout he'll need surgery. Likely we'll miss the
start of next season.

Speaker 2 (23:20):

up at the top of your screen. And now who
will be popping up on the show? I hope everybody
appreciated that. Brooke Pryor, NFL reporter for ESPN covering the
Steelers Brook You've had a very exciting week over there.

Speaker 5 (24:02):
It has been, uh literally never a dull moment. I
was just out at Oakmont Country Club where they're hosting
the US Open, was trying to check out some merch
and in the middle of that, Aaron Rodgers officially signed
his deal. So I sat down on the floor in
front of a rack of golf towels and wrote a
quick story. So I think it's going to be like
that for a while.

Speaker 2 (24:23):
And that is the life of a Beat reporter. So
you guys, you all think it's so glamorous, that is
the life of Beat reporter. Brook tell us what the
vibe is like. Is there excitement? Is there like, Okay,
it's finally done, or what is the vibe going on
right now in Pittsburgh.

Speaker 5 (24:37):
I think it's definitely there's relief. Mostly that I think
it's relief in a couple different ways. One that it
actually happened, and one that this part of the saga
is finally over. I think there's you know, until the
deal is done and the name is signed on the
dotted line, like, there's always that if, what if something happens,

(24:59):
what if he what if he changed his mind, what
if he failed his physical, all of those things. So
I think from the team side, they have been confident
for quite a while that Aaron Rodgers was going to
eventually sign, But being confident and actually seeing it happen
are two different things. And then for the players, I mean,
I can tell you that I've been at the last
six OTA's practices where we've had scrums outside of outside

(25:22):
of the locker room after practice is finished, and I
think every single player at one point or another was
asked about what would it mean if Aaron Rodgers joined
this team, including Minka Fitzpatrick who has asked it, and
he looked at the reporter and said, I play defense.
Like these guys are going to be so happy to
not have to talk about hypothetical. I'm sure they're going

(25:44):
to get tired of talking about Aaron Rodgers and the
concrete things that we're seeing him do. But at least
it's concrete. At least it's not, you know, more conjecture
and speculation.

Speaker 3 (25:53):
Brooke Pryor from ESPN joining us now, Brook, I had
a little note in my notes because you're a great
follow on Instagram and you're always in the most inopportune
places when Steeler's news breaks. Always it's hilarious to me.
You were at the country club today? Where were you
when the Rogers news became official?

Speaker 4 (26:12):
Before he started?

Speaker 5 (26:13):
Oh, that one was also Larry Pittsburgh. I was at
a bar on Carson Street covering a couple beers with
other people on the Steelers beat. We were celebrating the
end of OTA's and all of a sudden the news
comes out. We see the tweets that Rogers has informed

(26:33):
the team that he's on his way, and it's one
of those things, right because this has been so prolonged
that you start to get a sense that maybe it's
going to happen, but like, I'm not going to believe
it until I see it. So I thought that it
was safe to go out and have a beer at
three in the afternoon on a Thursday. Apparently it's not,
and so quickly closed out my tab because shout out

(26:56):
to one of the other reporters. He put all the
beers on his tab, and then I literally ran home.
I was a few blocks from home, hat on my
sneakerts because I've been working out and sprinted home to
handle the breaking news.

Speaker 4 (27:07):
Can we get Aaron Rodgers to pick up that tab
next time?

Speaker 7 (27:10):
He really should.

Speaker 5 (27:10):
I'm going to send him an expense that just like
an expense report submitted to Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 4 (27:15):
Good. I do want to follow up with that.

Speaker 3 (27:16):
Though you're in that locker room every day, how will
Rogers fit into that locker room?

Speaker 5 (27:22):
You know? I think that it's going to be an
interesting thing to see how this works out because they've
navigated a bunch of different personalities in that locker room.
On the offensive side, like, well, the defenses remained pretty
consistent and who their leaders are and how it's structured,
Like obviously they have younger guys coming in, but at
the top it's been PJ and Minka and Cam Hayward

(27:42):
setting the tone. On the offense, It's been a revolving
door of guys who are in leadership positions by virtue
of being a quarterback with Ben Roethlisberger and then Mitch
Krubisky and Kenny Pickett and Russell Wilson and Justin Fields.
And there have been some growing pains along the way.
There have been guys that have gotten frustrated. Did Deontay
Johnson one of them who is no longer in Pittsburgh.

(28:04):
I mean, we've seen the offense take a beating just
from all of these personalities. But I do think that
one thing I heard guys say often about Russell Wilson
can apply to Aaron Rodgers in that because he's a veteran,
he's been there, done that, He's had success, he's won
a Super Bowl. He has that just veteran presence that

(28:24):
I think the guys really appreciate and really value on
the field when things are getting tight. It sounded like
the offensive line. You know, appreciated how vocal Russell Wilson
was in the huddles in the meeting room, things like that,
And so I think that Aaron Rodgers will step in
and be a leader for this team. But it's I
think also going to be a balancing act of how

(28:47):
much influence he will have over the offense with Arthur Smith,
with Mike Tomlin. He's forty one years old, he's been
doing this a long time. But Mike Tomlin has also
been doing this a long time, and he's managed a
lot of personality. So I think there's to have to
be some compromise on.

Speaker 2 (29:01):
Both sides, And that was going to be somewhat of
my next question. How do you think that is going
to go? Will Mike Tomlin compromise? You don't know. Aaron
Rodgers is, oh, yeah, But will Mike Tomlin be able
to compromise? I mean, we were talking the last segment.
This is Aaron Rodgers in the driver's seat. He bade
them wait, he's their quarterback. They didn't have a lot
of other options. So how much of the compromise is

(29:22):
going to be compromising towards what he wants?

Speaker 1 (29:25):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (29:25):
I mean that is the million dollar question, the ten
million dollar question ten million guaranteed because the reality is
to the offense that Arthur Smith runs is not something
that Aaron Rodgers typically enjoys being in. I mean, last year,
Arthur Smith did not give his quarterbacks freedom to change
the call to change the line of scrimmage. There was

(29:47):
not much autonomy, even for Russell Wilson, who, like I said,
is a vet was a vet. And I don't see
Aaron Rodgers being okay with that. I mean, we know
that when he was in Green Bay with Matt Lafour,
Lafleur was very similar to Arthur Smith and in not
wanting to give the quarterback that freedom. And this is
going to be, I think again, a compromise between all

(30:08):
of these parties of figuring out how much latitude Rogers
will have, how much trust are they going to put
in him, how much will Arthur Smith changes often, how
much will Arthur Smith be willing to do more of what?
How much will Aaron Rodgers be willing to do what
Arthur Smith wants to do? And at the end of
the day, who's going to be the loudest voice in
the room or the voice that has the biggest impact,

(30:30):
and that has been Mike Tomlin for almost two decades here,
though I would expect that that continues even though Aaron
Rodgers has been in the driver's seat. I think that
for this to work, he can't take up all of
the space that he has taken up over this offseason.
He's got to kind of acclimate and adjust to being

(30:53):
a part of this Steelers organization. It's not Aaron Rodgers
and the Pittsburgh Steelers. It's the Pittsburgh Steelers and head
coach is Mike Tomlin.

Speaker 4 (31:01):
Brook Pryor from ESPN joining US now. Brook.

Speaker 3 (31:04):
The Steelers clearly in win now mode, right They signed
him to a one year deal. They're not drafting a quarterback.
They are winning now? Is what they want?

Speaker 4 (31:13):
Is that the answer?

Speaker 3 (31:14):
And what happens to Mike Tomlin and this Steelers organization
if it's not, If they miss the playoffs, you know, it's.

Speaker 5 (31:22):
Gonna be really interesting because I do think that they're
in this win now mode kind of by default, because,
like you said, there were not other great quarterback options
out there. All of this really, if we had an
hour and a half, we could go into the ultimate
route of why the Steelers are in the place that
they're in right now with the quarterbacks, and honestly, a

(31:44):
lot of it goes back to how they handled the
end of Ben Roethlisberger's career, prolonging his career, which then
turned them into having to draft in a poor quarterback
class with Kenny Pickett. And I think that this year,
while they do want to win now, Mike Tomlin obviously
wants to end that route of not having a playoff
one since twenty sixteen, Aaron Rodgers would like to get

(32:04):
back to the playoffs. I still think ultimately a lot
of this year is about setting up for next year,
when the quarterback class looks much stronger, when they have
a number of compicks that look to becoming their way
because of how free agency shook out, and by the
way the draft is in Pittsburgh next year, I don't
know that the script writers could have envisioned the opportunity

(32:28):
for the Steelers to potentially draft their next franchise quarterback
in front of their home stadium with you know, hundreds
of thousands of maybe who knows how many Steelers fans there.
But I think that you know, there is the reality
here that Aaron Rodgers is probably not coming into Pittsburgh
to play five six more years. This is a temporary

(32:52):
fix for a position that needs a long term solution.
They've got a guy who has one who has played
an MVP level. He did not show that last year.
I think best case scenario here is that he gets
them to the playoffs, they win a playoff game, and
then he ultimately, you know, retires, moves on whatever, and

(33:13):
the Steelers are able to find their next quarterback in
the upcoming.

Speaker 2 (33:17):
Draft class brook When is many camp for the Steelers?

Speaker 5 (33:21):
It starts on Tuesday, and Aaron Rodgers is expected to
talk after practice on Tuesday afternoon.

Speaker 2 (33:27):
Well, that should be exciting. Is there anything specific you're
looking forward to seeing or hearing from him.

Speaker 5 (33:33):
I think that there's a couple of things that I've
got on my question depth chart. One of them is
hearing from him why now? You know, I think that
there's been a lot of speculation about why now was
the right time for him to sign, to come in
before mini camp and meet his teammates, get the playbook,
and then come back with a little bit of a
head start before training camp. But I want to hear

(33:54):
that in his words, and then the other thing is
you know, if you zoom in, you don't even have
to zoom in that far. On the picture that the
Steelers posted after Aaron Rodgers signed this morning, it appears
that there is a ring on his left ring finger.
So I would like to know is that an or ring?
Is that? Did you get married? I can tell you
that probably eighty five percent of the texts I've gotten

(34:17):
today have asked me that question, and I'm like, I
would also love to know, So that's on my list
of things to ask him when we finally get to
talk to her on Tuesday.

Speaker 2 (34:28):
Brooke Prior from ESPN, thank you for joining us, and
everybody will be tuning into your Instagram, Twitter and everything
on Tuesday to find out the answer to that question.
Thank you again, Brooke, and we will be right back.
This is Fox Sports Saturday. All right, we are coming
back to you live from Fox Sports Radio, and it
is time for a segment we like to call the

(34:49):
Dues and the don'ts.

Speaker 1 (34:52):
Highlighting the dues. Oh, I love that, putting a spotlight.

Speaker 2 (34:56):
On the dot the subject that brings me no joy,
That's insane.

Speaker 1 (35:01):
It's time for the dues and the don'ts. In sports Bridget.

Speaker 2 (35:05):
You are our guest today. Would you like to go first?
Or would you like me to go first?

Speaker 4 (35:08):
I'll go it. I got a couple of good ones
coming out for you, Tracy Perfect.

Speaker 3 (35:13):
Don't be jealous of someone else's success and vote them
as overrated, because guess what, they will use it as
fuel to fire.

Speaker 4 (35:23):
Them up and make you embarrassed.

Speaker 2 (35:26):
Who could you be talking about?

Speaker 4 (35:27):
No idea?

Speaker 2 (35:28):
Do the rap again?

Speaker 4 (35:30):
What the Helly Burton people are gonna be like? You
need to stop? You do not sound like whatever the
rappers name is.

Speaker 2 (35:36):
I like it. I like the dude the Helly Burton.
I have a very fun do well. I think it's fun,
and you guys are here, so you're gonna have to
hear it. Mascot this week, Dinger, who is the Rockies mascot,
held up a sign missus Met call me now, mister Met.
I don't think it's probably very happy about this, but

(35:57):
I love this interaction between the mascots and way to
God or shoot your shot, shoot or shoot there you go,
shoot or shoot again. I think mister Mett is probably
not that excited about it, but I don't know. It
made me smile and I was like this is baseball.
Baseball is fun. Baseball kind of has this atmosphere. Baseball
seasons are long.

Speaker 4 (36:16):
Yes, let's add in a little.

Speaker 2 (36:18):
Extra good time. So I was super into it.

Speaker 4 (36:20):
Do we need a mascot reality show?

Speaker 2 (36:22):
There's a Do we do need a mascot reality show?

Speaker 4 (36:25):
Love is Mascot Love? It'll work, it, We'll work.

Speaker 2 (36:29):
It's a working title, but I think we do need that.

Speaker 3 (36:33):
Do still go to prom even if you're an insane athlete?
Seventeen year old Mason Howell just qualified for the US
Open as a junior in high school. He'll play in
the Open before graduating from high school. Don't worry, though,
he's still being a kid and enjoying prom.

Speaker 1 (36:48):
Oh.

Speaker 2 (36:48):
I like that. I like that a lot. Do use
your platform. Patrick Mahomes went to Texas Tech and he's
a big Texas Tech fan, tweeting all about the Women's
Call World Series and I thought it was great. He
was so into it. Obviously wanted Texas Tech to win.
Texas won the Battle of the Lone Star State in
that one, but he was very congratulatory. He thought it

(37:10):
was pretty impressive. The Grand Slam hit by a believing
the Scotts is her name of Texas. But I thought
that was fun, and I think Patrick Mahomes is a
really good job about bringing attention to women's sports and
all sports generally. So wait to go, Patrick.

Speaker 3 (37:26):
We need more men caring about women's sports. We can't
be carrying this on our shoulders by ourselves. Men don't
realize how much impact they have in sports lives, in
women's sports lives.

Speaker 4 (37:37):
I love seeing Patrick Mahomes do that.

Speaker 3 (37:39):
We need more men to champion women's sports because their
voice sometimes it feels as.

Speaker 4 (37:44):
Choice as love.

Speaker 2 (37:44):
I agree with that assessment.

Speaker 4 (37:46):
All right.

Speaker 3 (37:46):
Do be the dad speaking of men, who took a
selfie court side with Kylie and Timothy for his daughters.

Speaker 4 (37:52):
Did you see this?

Speaker 2 (37:53):
I did.

Speaker 3 (37:54):
It's the airball trend that's going on on social media.
The girls posted and said what.

Speaker 4 (38:03):
It's like?

Speaker 3 (38:03):
They ask what tickets my dad got to the game?
Like how good were the tickets? And then it's the
selfie of him and Kylie and Tim. I know that
is no longer Kylie and tim obviously we're there for
the Knicks and now we're on to the finals without them,
But still had to bring it in because that was awesome.

Speaker 2 (38:19):
Why would say do be Kylie and Tim they did
the selfie like that's great love that I do. I
like that. We talked a lot about this last week,
but I think they have been pretty fun fans to
watch in this all right, I'm going to finish us
off with a don't and it's somebody we've talked about
a lot. But I just have to say, if you
are going to make a decision and you know what

(38:41):
the decision is, and everybody around you knows what the
decision is, and the decision you are making effects a
whole group of people, namely ninety men competing for spots
on a football team and coaching staff and all of
the things, don't make them wait for months and months
months just to ramp up the drama.

Speaker 3 (39:05):
I hear you, I mean why And Brooks Saday that's
her first question?

Speaker 4 (39:11):
Why now?

Speaker 2 (39:12):
And my do hear Tyrese Haliburt and you guys do
go to TikTok and look at his tiktoks from before.
This man is an incredible dancer. Not only is he
mister Clutch, his TikTok dance videos are a plus.

Speaker 4 (39:26):
Are the TikTok's happening still during the finals or like,
are they on.

Speaker 2 (39:29):
Hold for now that I cannot speak to. Maybe don't
get distracted by TikTok during the NBA finals.

Speaker 3 (39:34):
It reminds me of like Le'Veon Bell. Remember he was
making those raps. Yeah, so this while he was playing
for the Steelers.

Speaker 2 (39:40):
Going back to the Steelers, and it didn't end so
great for the Steelers. So maybe do focus on the
task in hand, but also have.

Speaker 3 (39:47):
Dance on TikTok during your trying to get a cup,
trying to get a ring.

Speaker 2 (39:51):
That's truly fair. But you and I could dance on TikTok.
All right, I'm into that for sure. All right, come
when you come back, you can hear a bridge and
I have come up with a TikTok d So we
are back soon. Fox Sports Saturday, Hello and welcome back
to Fox Sports Saturday. We have discussed many many things today.
We talked a lot about the NBA Finals, but there
is another final going on. And here's something interesting. This

(40:13):
is the Stanley Cup Final. It's the Stanley Cup Final.
It's not the Stanley Cup Finals.

Speaker 4 (40:19):
And if you say finals, hockey fans will come for you.

Speaker 2 (40:22):
Oh they will.

Speaker 4 (40:23):
So make sure everybody we're saying Stanley Cup Final, which.

Speaker 2 (40:28):
Is interesting and I have to do a deep dive
into that, but not right this second. First, I want
to talk a little bit about where we are this far.
Game two was last night, a two overtime win for
the Panthers to even the series. The first game went
into overtime as well. Hockey is It's not a sport
I've watched a ton of but as I'm paying so
much more attention and watching, it's so fun.

Speaker 4 (40:50):
There is nothing like playoff hockey.

Speaker 3 (40:53):
Yeah, it kind of gets buried a little bit if
you're not a true hockey fan, or if you didn't
grow up. I'm from the Northeast, so I grew up
with hockey, but you know, my husband's from the South
and he didn't really get into it until you watch
playoff hockey and you're like, whoa, these guys are fighting
each other and this is free to watch, Like this
is amazing, and playoff hockey, especially when it goes into

(41:13):
overtime periods, it is the best type of live atmosphere
to be around or even if you're just watching at home.
And what a joy it has been this final to
get two games that have gone into overtime. The second
one into two overtime periods.

Speaker 2 (41:28):
Yeah, as I was. I was at a friends for
dinner and I was like looking and paying attention, trying
to keep up, and then I went to cup was like,
this game is still going, but yes it is, and
it just is so fun. Ben Marshand was the hero
Brandvarshad why what is it with you?

Speaker 4 (41:42):
Got it girl? What is it with me?

Speaker 2 (41:43):
And names today fifth career overtime playoff goal. We talked
about Tyre's Halliburton and him being mister Cludge. Brad Marshanda, Yeah,
he former Ruin.

Speaker 4 (41:53):
I'm from Boston. I had to throw that in there.

Speaker 3 (41:55):
Brad Marshawn, you know fourteen years ago to the exact
day he did that for the Brewing when they won
the Cup in twenty eleven, the year I graduated high school,
and not to make myself feel old, I remember that's
when I became such a fan of hockey. Like that
twenty eleven run with the Bruins and seeing him do
that for another team as someone from Boston sucks and

(42:15):
it makes me sad. But this is such an interesting
series because it's a rematch of last year's final.

Speaker 2 (42:22):
Yes it is, which is the first time since two
thousand and nine that the final has had the same
two teams and consecutive years. I guess that would have
put you in the tenth grade.

Speaker 3 (42:31):
I think it was two no, no, But seriously, there's
so many storylines when you get into both of these teams.
Do you know that a team and from Canada, not
just the Oilers, have not won a Stanley Cup final
in thirty two years. So Edmonton is trying to end
that drought. And then there are also Connor McDavid. His

(42:53):
contracts up after next season. All he wants to do
is win a cup. He is like, he's he's so
close and he's such a good player, but the one
thing he doesn't have is a cup. And Edmonton wants
to get this off their back, right. This is the
team that they lost to in seven games a year ago,
and they are These are two teams that are both

(43:17):
very good. And you see it because it went to
seven games last year and now we've gone to overtime,
two overtime periods. It is going to be I think
another seven game series.

Speaker 2 (43:28):
Well, when you talk about the contract, and I think
he wants to stay with the Oilers, and I think
they want him to stay, to stay with the Oilers
as well, But how much does this series affect the contract,
the money, the years, all of this thing, all of
these things.

Speaker 3 (43:44):
A ton because if you are and we see it
in football, and I know that's what we're most familiar
with covering the NFL. When you are a great player
and you have not won that one thing, the Super Bowl,
the Stanley Cup Final and NBA f how often do
these players say, you know what, I gotta try somewhere else.
Like you when you're young in your career, you're building

(44:08):
with these younger guys and you're you know, maybe you
have some veterans that are helping out. But if it
doesn't work, and you've given your all to a city,
to a team and it hasn't worked, a certain switch
goes off where we see these athletes, I wouldn't call
them selfish, but their self priorities take over where it's
I really want this, and it's not about the money.

(44:29):
It's not about you know, staying in one place, retiring
in the same place you were drafted. It's about going
home at night and looking in your cabinet, and not
cabinet but trophy.

Speaker 4 (44:39):
Kase and seeing you could be a cabinet seeing seeing
that championship ring, and I think it will be interesting.

Speaker 3 (44:47):
It'll be a conversation that has had over and over
and over again if he once again does not win
the Stanley Cup this year.

Speaker 2 (44:57):
You brought up an interesting point on athletes and and
the quote unquote selfish. And I think, as you said,
it's not initially selfish. They want to win. And I
think fans get upset sometimes like oh he or she left.

Speaker 4 (45:10):
And it's a business.

Speaker 2 (45:11):
It's a business, one hundred percent. And we talk about
this a lot, but you brought it up, so I
want to talk about it a little bit more. It
is a business. The team will always take care of itself.
The player should always take care of him or herself.
And I know fans get upset, but you can understand
why someone towards the end of the career who has
not won a championship, you don't want to be the

(45:33):
person they're like, well, they won the MVP, they won this,
they win that, but they never were Super Bowl Championship champion.
They never won a World Series. Clayton Kershaw had that,
ye and now the Dodgers have won too it's unusual
that he stayed with them this long when they hadn't
won one with the pitch that he was. But fans
get upset about it. But I think you know you
and I can say, these guys.

Speaker 3 (45:54):
Deserve that for how competitive you have to be to
be a professional athlete. And I think we forget yet
about this right because we look at the TV, and
as we were mentioning earlier, we scream.

Speaker 4 (46:03):
At the TV.

Speaker 3 (46:04):
We tell them what to do. It's so easy to
do it from our seat on the couch. But the
competitiveness that these guys have doesn't just end when you
make it as a professional athlete and you're a starter.
They want rings and they don't want just one. Look
at Lebron James, look at Patrick Mahomes. They want multiple.
They want to be the best. So I wouldn't fault

(46:24):
somebody if they have given their all and for whatever reason,
the organization the franchise around them isn't working out. I
don't fault guys when when they leave to try to
go chase a ring.

Speaker 2 (46:37):
I agree with you, well, we'll get back to hockey.

Speaker 7 (46:39):
But that was just.

Speaker 2 (46:41):
But there was I just want to talk about that
because I think I do think it's an important subject
and it's something that and I get it the passion
of fans. As we know, I am a big fan
of certain teams, and we get the passion. But I
just think it's worth always mentioning the business side, but
taking care of business. I hope you enjoyed that little
segue there Game three Monday night between the Panthers and

(47:06):
the Oilers. The Florida Panthers not to be confused with
the Carolina Panthers, because that would be a lot of
Panthers that would be really confusing. What do you expect
to see it? We're gonna get more overtime.

Speaker 4 (47:16):
I think so. I mean it's going to be a
close scape.

Speaker 3 (47:18):
The fact that this was forced into overtime with just
seventeen seconds left in the third period last night, that's amazing.

Speaker 4 (47:27):
Just the fans on the edge.

Speaker 3 (47:28):
Of their seats and then you finally get it with
seventeen seconds to go. Unfortunately, the Oilers then went into
overtime and lost to the Panthers. But now this is
going back to Florida. Look, we're talking a lot about
Edmonton and the Oilers and Connor McDavid, but don't forget.
The Panthers have something that they're trying to accomplish too.
They're trying to establish themselves as a dynasty. This is

(47:49):
the team that has been to the Final for three
consecutive years. They lost the first year, one last year.
They want to establish themselves as a dynasty. You now
go back home. You have home ice advantage.

Speaker 4 (48:03):
They are going to.

Speaker 2 (48:04):
Be saying home ice.

Speaker 4 (48:05):
I always have to pause and be like home because
I'm so used to staying home field. Yeah, And I'm like, wait,
what court field? Can we just like have one word
for home advantage?

Speaker 2 (48:15):
Maybe we can figure out what that one word would be.

Speaker 3 (48:16):
Right, But look, they want to go home in front
of their fans and keep this momentum. They got one,
you know in Edmonton. Now the series is tied one one.
I think the Panthers want to go back home and
head back to Edmonton with a.

Speaker 4 (48:31):
Three to one lead.

Speaker 2 (48:33):
Oh, I'm sure they do.

Speaker 3 (48:34):
So it's going to start, you know, it's going to
start in front of their fans and hockey fans, hockey arenas.
Because of the way it's set up and how small
and tight it is, and like the glass and being
able to bring on the glass.

Speaker 4 (48:47):
There is such a big difference of where you play.

Speaker 2 (48:50):
Oh. Absolutely, It's funny to your earlier point that you
grew up in the Northeast, so you've always been a
hockey fan. Your husband grew up in the South and
you wasn't so much a hockey fan. Florida is not
necessary the place where like hockey dynasties are born in Florida.
So I think that itself would be really cool.

Speaker 4 (49:08):
Absolutely.

Speaker 3 (49:09):
I covered the Carolina Hurricanes for four seasons, obviously North Carolina,
and if people are listening, either people hate the.

Speaker 4 (49:19):
Hurricanes or love them. If you're a fan, you're a fan.

Speaker 3 (49:21):
But the rest of the world hates the Hurricanes because
of the celebration that they do after games. There's all
this history there. But I will say to your point,
another team in the South they tailgate for games. It's
the strangest thing because you're outside it's like eighty ninety
degrees during the playoffs, and then you go inside to

(49:42):
a hockey rink, which you associate with a cold environment
like the Northeast. But these are some of the craziest
fans I've ever experienced. And I say all this to
say it's similar to the Florida. Florida Panther fans, they
love it. You wouldn't expect hockey in Florida, but they
have embrace their Panthers and it's something that has become

(50:04):
part of Florida now for the Panthers.

Speaker 2 (50:07):
I love that, I really do. I think that's awesome,
that that is really fun. We keep saying the Panthers.
We had talked a little bit about this earlier this week.
Florida Panthers, Carolina Panthers. We have the La Kings and
the Sacramento Kings.

Speaker 4 (50:20):
Confuses me.

Speaker 2 (50:22):
Are there more teams like this?

Speaker 3 (50:24):
Ah, you're putting me on the spot here, Tracy, I
am putting on but I comes to mind.

Speaker 2 (50:29):
But there has to be there, definitely has to be.

Speaker 4 (50:33):
I don't know. Someone asks chat chebt.

Speaker 2 (50:35):
You can ask chat in the interim.

Speaker 4 (50:38):
I like, I can't even think for myself anymore.

Speaker 2 (50:40):
Chatchebt has become in some ways my best friend.

Speaker 4 (50:42):
No, it's so bad.

Speaker 2 (50:44):
I ask it everything now It's not always right.

Speaker 3 (50:47):
No, you have to be like double check this chat
or when it says something wrong, I'll literally be like
you're wrong, and it's like I'm so sorry, Bridget, I'm like, no,
you shouldn't be wrong.

Speaker 2 (50:55):
You're AI. Do you tell it that too?

Speaker 7 (50:58):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (50:58):
Does it?

Speaker 3 (50:59):
When I think I posted this on my story the
other day, Am I the only one who fights with
chat GPT?

Speaker 2 (51:04):
No, sometimes I fight with chatcheat. I don't usually, And
this is me like being afraid of AI. I think
that I don't usually write my fight, though it can
probably hear me when I'm like, well, that's wrong, and
that annoys me, and then I'll write whatever my next
question was. But I do appreciate that it gives you
information and then ask you if you'd like more information
and would you like links, and would you like photos?

(51:25):
And I have to say I really appreciate that.

Speaker 3 (51:28):
Okay, thank you chat GPT, because I now have a
list of We've got the King Sacramento, Los Angeles. Okay,
you've got the Panthers, Charlotte, Florida, The Giants Duh of
New York Giants, San San Francisco Giants, the Jets, New
York Jets, Winnipeg Jets, the Rangers, Texas Rangers, New York Rangers,
the Cardinals, Arizona Cardinals, Saint Louis Cardinals.

Speaker 4 (51:48):
How did we not think about that?

Speaker 7 (51:50):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (51:50):
Because I'm not using my brain anymore because I.

Speaker 2 (51:52):
Gave you any chatchabt. Also I did really put you
on the spot, and then we really had.

Speaker 4 (51:55):
To know it's okay.

Speaker 3 (51:56):
But the one thing I'll use chat GPT for because
I do still have originality in me. But it's a
lot of times like TikTok captions, Instagram captions, and it'll
say something cheesy and I'm like, you're being cheesy. Do
something funnier and it'll say something it's so corny. I'm like,
be funny. And it got to a point where we
were going back and forth so much that chat was like,

(52:17):
can you give me an example of something you think
is funny so I have a better idea of what
you think is funny.

Speaker 2 (52:22):
Because it wants to get to know you. I think
that's amazingly.

Speaker 4 (52:24):
I don't know just to be funny chat.

Speaker 2 (52:26):
Is that I'm a little embarrassed as to what I
use it for this week, But this feels like a
safe space. So I'm going to tell you about it,
and I think you actually you do, No, I don't
think you know. This is how I found it. But
we talked about Kylie and Timothy earlier at the Knicks games.
I really liked the leather pants she had.

Speaker 4 (52:41):
On chat told you about them.

Speaker 2 (52:43):
I went on a deep dive. I couldn't find them.
I asked chat GBT. It sent links and then there
was a specific photo that she posted of her and
Kendall Jenner and I took the picture and I put
it in CHATCHBT, and CHATCHBT told me that it was
her brands faux leather pants, which by the way, are
extremely comfortable and flattering. Not an I just want to

(53:06):
let you know, but chat ChiPT is how I found them.

Speaker 4 (53:08):
Are we getting dumber? Are we getting smarter?

Speaker 2 (53:11):
That's a really fair question. I think it's work smarter,
not harder. And as opposed to me going all over
the internet looking for the pants, chat GBT, I showed
it a picture and there it was, which PS super
super impressed by. So there you go.

Speaker 4 (53:27):
Let's ask it. Who's going to win the game tonight?

Speaker 2 (53:29):
Ask it?

Speaker 4 (53:31):
All right, We'll let you know.

Speaker 2 (53:32):
We will let you know when we come back. We
are Fox Sports Saturday. We are coming to you live
from the Fox Sports Radio studios for the best pregame
show every weekend. Be sure to tune into Fox Sports Radios.
Countdown presented by bet MGM. Every Saturday and Sunday morning
from nine am to noon Eastern six to nine am Pacific,
we will count you down to all of the biggest games.

(53:53):
Tune into Countdown presented by bet MGM every Saturday and
Sunday morning right here on Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeartRadio app. You guys, we promised you we would ask
chat chept who was gonna win the NBA player NBA
Finals game tonight said the Thunder And I'm patting myself
on the back because it said it was gonna win decisively.

(54:13):
And I think someone else, a real person, said that
earlier today.

Speaker 3 (54:17):
This is why I fight with chat GPT, Like, why
couldn't it's my chat GPT that we asked, Okay, why
couldn't it have listened or like heard through the waves
that I was picking Pacers and backed me up. And
not only that, says game one was more of a
wake up call than a trend. Expect OKAC to tighten defense,
limit turnovers, and dominate in the first half. Tracy, when

(54:38):
the Pacers destroy the Thunder tonight, I'm writing back being
like that, I thought you thought the Thunder were gonna win.

Speaker 2 (54:43):
Are you gonna write me that too on Twitter. Absolutely, Okay, fine,
I will look forward to it. Go thought, all of
a sudden, I'm so invested in I'm.

Speaker 4 (54:49):
So angry right now at chat.

Speaker 2 (54:51):
Okay, Well, find I hope you guys make up. No, okay,
well you guys talk for a minute. We're gonna be
talking a little bit WNBA in a bit with our guests.
But just a couple things to keep in mind. Caitlin Clark,
who has been out, should be back next week. Paige
Becker's still out with a concussion. Timeline TBD, The Liberty
and Links are still dominating, but we have a guest

(55:12):
coming on in just a bit to talk more WNBA.
In the meantime, we are going to talk a little
Major League Baseball. We have the Cubs and the Tigers
playing this weekend. I find it to be interesting series
because both of these teams are doing fantastic. The Tigers
are basically the best team in baseball right now, so
I think that's a fun NL Central Al Central matchup.
The Tigers took the first one, but there's some other

(55:35):
things going on this weekend in baseball that I think
are mentioning. Corbin Burns Ace of the Arizona Diamondbacks is
having Tommy John surgery. He is in year one of
a six year, two hundred and ten million dollar contract,
so obviously his season is ending early. But there's been
a trend in these last couple of years of a
lot of pitching injuries. The Dodgers hosted the forty nin ERDs.

(55:58):
The Dodgers put Tony Gonsolin on the today. He's one
of a plethora, and I do mean plethera of Dodgers'
pitchers who are on the il. And it's just it's
an interesting trend. I saw a story earlier today. It's
why teams are a little bit hesitant to give these
huge contracts to pictures because of all these injuries that
are happening. But I don't know, Bridget, I don't know

(56:20):
what we do about it. Well, not we, because we
aren't going to be able to do anything about it,
but I don't know what Baseball does about it. I
just think it's interesting and obviously something people a lot
of people are talking about keeping an eye on.

Speaker 3 (56:32):
I want to know the research behind this because there
are a couple reasons. When you tell me pictures are
experiencing a higher amount of injuries these days. There are
a couple things that come to mind. One, could it
be that the fastball now is, you know, ninety four
to ninety six miles per hour faster than it was
a decade ago. Yeah, obviously, like if you're if you're

(56:54):
whipping the ball faster, you're talking about now your elbow,
your core, your shoulder, that pressure on those joints, that
that could be affecting it.

Speaker 2 (57:03):
But also that, by the way, that is one of
the big things affect That is one of the big
things people fail affecting it. Chat told you no, no, no,
not Chat the story I read really today.

Speaker 4 (57:13):
I bet he would tell you too.

Speaker 1 (57:14):
No.

Speaker 3 (57:14):
But also the social media, like you've just seen this
in not just baseball but every sport that these parents,
for good or for worse, are for better or for worse.
Are starting their kids so young thinking that they are
going to be the next Lebron James, the next Sho
Heo Tani, the next big star.

Speaker 2 (57:34):
In the next Halliburton. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (57:36):
Yeah, they have their kids in these insane camps so
early on, And like are the kids pitching younger? Are
they working with personal trainers, personal pitching coaches so much
earlier than they were a decade or two ago. And
how how does the effect of starting so much younger
impact you when you're in the MLB at twenty five

(57:59):
thirty years old and have been doing it for twenty
five years.

Speaker 2 (58:03):
And with the fastball changing, so you're starting that earlier too,
So that's something to keep in mind. So I don't know,
it's just something that I thought about when I saw
Corbyn Burns was having Tommy John surgery. It just kind
of jumped out to me and wanted to talk about that.
But something else happened this week in baseball, and I'm
definitely overdramatizing it already. But speaking of large contracts, Wan

(58:25):
Sotos signed a huge contract with the Mets this offseason.
Highest played player in baseball. Not starting out great though
his numbers very similar to how he started in Washington,
San Diego and with the Yankees, So this is not
completely off base, no pun intended, but also pun one
hundred percent intended, but so not completely off base. But

(58:46):
we saw him this week, and you know, I like
this because it was against the Dodgers. He kind of
started to feel his stride and there was a cool
exchange with him and Tony Gonsolin the other day where
they were kind of laughing tease each other between pitches
in a professional serious way, and we saw him do
the so toe shuffle for the first time this season.

(59:09):
And I don't know. I used to not love one
Soto and I don't know why that is. And now
I am so on this Wan Sodo train when he
is not playing the Dodgers. I think I like a
feel good story. I felt bad for him. I mean,
I know he's making hundreds and hundreds of millions of dollars,
so I don't need to feel that better him, but
I felt bad for him. I mean, Mets fans were
getting impatient. They're really tough in New York. I don't know,

(59:30):
it's fun to see it.

Speaker 3 (59:33):
I think anytime a player shows his personality, his or
her personality.

Speaker 4 (59:37):
It makes you feel the way you're feeling.

Speaker 3 (59:40):
So often we forget that, oh, this person actually is
a human inside of this athletic.

Speaker 4 (59:45):
Body that we see.

Speaker 3 (59:46):
But I feel that things are trending in the right
direction for Sodo. He broke his seventeen game homer drought
May thirty first, and not only that, in a span
of five games, he's hit three homers, yes, regaining his swagger,
so all signs are pouring towards him regaining his stride.
He's not quite there yet, as we mentioned, not back
to his MVP type self, but definitely on the upswing.

Speaker 2 (01:00:08):
And it is pun intended, but pun intended too.

Speaker 4 (01:00:11):
I like that You're the princess of puns.

Speaker 2 (01:00:13):
I love. I'm gonna honestly, that's the nicest thing anybody's
ever said to me.

Speaker 4 (01:00:16):
Thank you so much, Tracy, Pun pun Sandler, Pun Pundler.

Speaker 2 (01:00:21):
Tracey, Now I liked the Princess of punts?

Speaker 4 (01:00:23):
All right? Fine?

Speaker 3 (01:00:24):
But yeah, I mean I think when he's playing better
then we see that personality come out a little bit.
But god, you are so right when you hit it.
New York is not gonna let you slide.

Speaker 2 (01:00:36):
By another baseball fun.

Speaker 4 (01:00:40):
I'm not even trying to do something.

Speaker 2 (01:00:41):
Well, it's actually kind of funny because there are a
lot of puns that really work with baseball and are used.
So here is my question, speaking of personalities, real quick,
he's got the Sodo shuffle, what would be the bridget
celebration for a home run?

Speaker 3 (01:00:55):
Oh God, Tracy, I don't like corniness, as you can
tell by my conversations with Chat, I would do so
if I'm hitting a home run, I'm really much more
athletic than I am right now, I.

Speaker 4 (01:01:05):
Do a backflip.

Speaker 3 (01:01:07):
Oh yeah, Like I'd run around the bases and as
I got back to home backflip into home into home plate.

Speaker 2 (01:01:13):
Wow. Yeah, I like that.

Speaker 4 (01:01:15):
I don't like corny and that's like pretty cool.

Speaker 2 (01:01:17):
Well, we're gonna backflip. I don't know if that even
made sense over to Martin Wise for an update, but
I had to try it. Let's go.

Speaker 6 (01:01:25):
Top of the seventh inning, the Phillies and the Pirates
tied one apiece to.

Speaker 4 (01:01:30):
The top of the seventh and just said that. Top
of the seventh inning, the.

Speaker 6 (01:01:32):
Rangers would they two nothing lead over the Nationals. Also
on the top of the seventh of Braves and taking
the lead over the Giants two to one, Reds with
a five one lead over the Diamondbacks in the top
of the fifth. Bottom of the fifth, the Astros with
a one to nothing lead over Cleveland. Bottom of the
fourth inning, Tampa and Miami tied four piece, and the
White Sox with a two to one lead over the Royals.

(01:01:54):
An the top of the sixth inning, Earlier today, we
saw the Reds beat the Diamondbacks four to three in
a game that was postponed due to rain so that
when ended today in ten innings. We also saw the
Cubs beat the Tiger six to one, Pete crow Armstrong
with his seventeen home run, Blue Jay's edge of the
Twins five to four, and the Cardinals beat the Dodgers
won and nothing despite Yama Moto going seven to scoreless.

Speaker 4 (01:02:17):
Today, the first twenty.

Speaker 6 (01:02:20):
One year old American Cocoa Golf win the French Open
Ladies single title. It's Golf's second career Grand Slam championship.
She also won the US Open in twenty twenty three.
The Phillies placed Bryce Harper on the ten day injured
list with right wrisk inflammation. Dodgers did the same with
parting pitcher Tony Gonsolin, he's got elbow discomfort. The Braves
designated relief pitcher Craig Kimberrell for assignment, and Memphis centaer

(01:02:43):
Zach edy Re injured his left ankle on an offseason.

Speaker 4 (01:02:46):
Workout this week.

Speaker 6 (01:02:46):
He needs surgery that'll likely cause him to miss next
the start of next season.

Speaker 2 (01:02:51):
Back to you, guys, Thank you Martin. We are coming
to live from Fox Sports Radio Studios. Shortly after the show,
our podcast will be going up. If you miss any

(01:03:12):
Fox Sports Radio wherever you get your podcast and you'll
see today's show posted. Right after we get off the air,
it is time for our next guest. Matt Lively, CBS
Sports Bay Area anchor and reporter. He covers the Valkyrie
valkyrise in the Bay Area and wanted to talk to
some WNBA and also Matt Lively best name ever.

Speaker 7 (01:03:35):
Well, thank you, Tracy, it does fit well. A lot
of people think it's a stage name. Can confirm it
is not. I got lucky with that one.

Speaker 2 (01:03:42):
Well, I love it all right. Tell us a little
bit about the Valkyries and kind of how they've been
embraced in the Bay Area and just kind of what
are the top things going on right now in the
WNBA that you feel that we should be paying attention to.

Speaker 7 (01:03:56):
Yeah, I mean, the Valkyries have stormed onto the scene.
This has been and mentally successful expansion team outside of
their record, just from what they're doing entering this league
five straight sellout games at home. The entire Bay has
really adopted them as a team that they want to
root for as if they were the Warriors of the

(01:04:17):
Giants of the forty nine ers, and there's been a
ton of backing from the jump. And of course it's
an expansion team, so you would imagine the expectations are
pretty low in year one, but they've actually played really well.
Their last four games are against the top four teams
in the WNBA. They kept it tight against the New
York Liberty when they were out in Brooklyn. They kept

(01:04:38):
it really tight and led it half against the Minnesota
Lynx the Phoenix Mercury on Thursday night, they go into
the final minute with a lead and just weren't able
to hang on. And then today, entering his ten and
a half point dogs against the Aces, they beat it
by twenty seven. So this is a team that has
quickly burst out and probably turning some heads into WNBA

(01:04:59):
when you look at the practice facilities that they have,
and you look at the fact that they play at
Chase Center, and oh, by the way, They're owned by
Joe lacub who clearly invests a lot in his basketball teams,
and this is going to be a franchise that a
lot of players in the WNBA are gonna want to
play for the league as a whole. I mean, the
story that's sort of dominating right now is Caitlyn Clark
and her injury. And I know a lot of people

(01:05:20):
today were excited to watch her take on Angel Reese.
That's become the rivalry that you can compare to the
Red Sox and the Yankees. But no Caitlyn Clark dealing
with a quad injury. But hopefully they'll play the Valkyries
here in a few weeks, and I know everybody in
the Bay Area is hoping that she's back and healthy
for that one.

Speaker 3 (01:05:38):
You mentioned the Links that a team you guys already faced.
I say, you guys, but I know you're not part
of part of.

Speaker 4 (01:05:45):
The you know what I mean.

Speaker 3 (01:05:47):
You know what I mean when you witness that, I
assume you were there. They're one of the hottest teams
in the w What was your takeaway from what they're doing.

Speaker 7 (01:05:55):
I mean, it's just impressive what the Links have done.
And I mean that team that just came up short
in the finals a year ago, and they've just continued
to stack and add players, and they were down a
half to the Valkyries, and I think everybody was surprised
by that, and then came out and just turned it
on and they immediately showed Okay, this is this is

(01:06:18):
a team that maybe Golden State can't hang with just
yet and blew them out. But I mean with the
Links and the Liberty have done the last few years
and turning into really successful and profitable franchises is great
for the league and has been really impressive to watch.

Speaker 2 (01:06:34):
We're going to switch gears to the NBA a Game
two of the finals tonight. Bridge and I are a
little bit at odds here over who is going to win.
Bridget thinks the Pacers just dominate tonight and sweep. I
think the Thunder come back and decisively. Me and chat
CHVT thinks that I would love your thoughts. You've spent

(01:06:54):
a lot of the year covering the NBA before before
the Warriors were out. What did you what did you
see in game one? And how do you think Oklahoma
City bounces back?

Speaker 7 (01:07:03):
I think in game one it's pretty much exactly how
I thought the first three quarters were gonna go. I
came into this series thing that OKAC would win in
five or maybe six games, and that's exactly what it
looked like. Okay See came out, they dominated. They have
the MVP on their roster, but the Pacers, and what's
made them so good, especially in these playoffs, is that

(01:07:24):
they never seem to be out of it. And when
you have one of these special players, and Tyre's Halliburton,
who clearly has that clutch gene, they're never out of it.
And he's hit four shots now in the playoffs that
have won them games. I do think Okay See can
even this thing up fairly easily this weekend, and to
get one at home is a must for them before

(01:07:46):
they head out to Indiana. So I certainly expect Shay
and lou Dort and Chet to come out and handle business.
There's no way that this is going to be a
sweep or a gentleman's sweep. I would certainly imagine that
this thing now goes six maybe seven games.

Speaker 3 (01:08:00):
All Right, I want to ask you, because all of
a sudden, I'm Tyrese Haliburton's number one fan.

Speaker 4 (01:08:04):
I don't know why.

Speaker 3 (01:08:05):
Again, like I keep saying, I'm from Boston, I should
be mad like this, I'm a number one. I don't
know anyways, I am for whatever reason, Golden State. I
assume you witness the rise of Steph Curry. Do you
believe we're witnessing something similar with Tyre's Halliburton.

Speaker 7 (01:08:22):
I maybe wouldn't go that far. I mean, Steph Curry
is going to be, you know, a top five most
special player that we've probably ever seen in the NBA.
Is the greatest shooter that basketball has ever seen. He's
never seen a shot that he doesn't like, and most
of the time he hits it. So this is a
special run from Tyre's Halliburton. I certainly don't think I
could go on record right now and go, Okay, yeah,

(01:08:43):
it's the making of another step. We probably won't see
another step, and if we do, it probably won't be
for a very very long time. But there's there's no
down playing how incredible Haliburton has been, especially in these playoffs,
and after doing the choke sign, you know, everything could
have gone south for them and they still came out
and won that series. But right the second now, I'm
gonna hold off on those comparisons.

Speaker 2 (01:09:06):
Are you willing to say whether your team Bridget or
Team Tracy.

Speaker 4 (01:09:10):
Is obviously everybody right mind is team you?

Speaker 7 (01:09:13):
Like?

Speaker 4 (01:09:14):
Let me just say that this is not my opinion
based on logic, Okay, it's just based on fact. Okay, No,
I'm just kidding.

Speaker 2 (01:09:23):
All right, We're gonna move to the NL West and another
Bay Area team, Mat because I've seen you at a
lot of at a lot of Giants, because I think
we've established your Team Tracy, so we don't have to
be labored the I'm on that. I'm on that with you,
Thank you, Thank you very much. Uh. The San Francisco
Giants having some trouble scoring, which has been a problem
for the Dodgers too, But I think this is a
team people are pretty excited about, pretty excited with with

(01:09:45):
what Buster Posey is doing. The NL West is a
really really good division. But what is going on with
this team? Why can't they get the baseball?

Speaker 7 (01:09:54):
It's been bizarre. And when you go out and you
invest a ton of money and Matt Chatman to bring
him back, they did, And then they go out and
they signed Willie Dominson. They give more money than they've
ever given a player, and he's had to start to
the season that he's had, it's been really disappointing. And
they're lucky that they've got the best bullpen in baseball
and that they're starting pitching has been great, because if
it's not for those two things, the Giants could very

(01:10:18):
easily be looking at ten fifteen games out already because
of how competitive the West has been, and with the
Dodgers and Padres at the top, and you can never
count out Arizona. San Francisco's pretty lucky to be in
the spot they're in. Elliott Ramos is one of the
more underrated hitters in baseball, there's no doubt about that.
But they shook things up this week. They got rid
of wlmont Way junior Yasterzrimsky might be on the chopping

(01:10:40):
block next. They need another power bat in their lineup.
It might be Bryce Eldridge, But that's a lot to
put on the plate of someone who's twenty one and
just got the triple A this week. So I don't
think it's sustainable what the Giants are doing. And Buster
Posey has shown all indications that he's going to be
really aggressive, and so I would imagine something at the
deadline will will be made to try to push them

(01:11:02):
over the top.

Speaker 2 (01:11:03):
The Dodgers come to town this week, I believe, and I'm
right on that, correct, Yes, that is something I should know,
So I'm glad I'm right in that. They're also having
a little trouble hitting the last couple of days, so
it'll be interested to see see what happens. But this
will be the first time they play each other this season. Matt,
We've talked to you about a few different sports, and
it's funny. In October, we always feel like that's the
greatest time in sports. You have the NFL, NBA training camps,

(01:11:25):
you have you know, MLB playoffs. It's feeling like this
time of year is rivaling that with the Stanley Cup Final,
with the NBA Finals, the WNBA, Major League Baseball. As
a reporter who's been covering many of those things, agree
or disagree and do you have a favorite? And I
know that probably puts you on the spot.

Speaker 7 (01:11:47):
No, you know what I'm gonna I'm gonna disagree only
because and you know you see me weekend and week
out at Levi Stadium. I love football. I think few
things are better than the NFL season and you couple
that with the start off college basketball. You're in the
thick of the college football season, and you're coming down
to the Fall Classic in baseball, as hockey and basketball

(01:12:08):
tips off. October's probably, in my opinion, the best time,
the best calendar portion of the sports here.

Speaker 2 (01:12:16):
All right, Well, you know what, after that explanation, I
am also going to disagree with myself. I think you're right.

Speaker 4 (01:12:23):
I take it.

Speaker 2 (01:12:23):
I take it all back.

Speaker 4 (01:12:24):
All right, Matt.

Speaker 2 (01:12:25):
As the WNBA goes on, what are you most looking
forward to season to seeing and what do you think
people should be looking out for?

Speaker 7 (01:12:34):
Yeah, I mean, I definitely the Valkyries are a team
to look out for, and you know that's the team
I cover, so it's easy for me to say that.
But certainly, I mean, I'm excited to see how far
they can go, how many heads they're going to turn
as this season continues. They've they've shrunk together three or
four really good games in a row, and so I'm
curious to see is it a fluke or is this

(01:12:56):
going to be something that they can maintain. The euro
Cup is coming up, the WNBA will lose a lot
of players to go play overseas. And so that's certainly
something to keep an eye on. But I think anybody
who's a casual fan or a dieard, they are invested
in Kaitlyn Clark and they want to know with the
moves that the Indiana Fever made this offseason, is it
going to be the team that goes to the finals

(01:13:17):
and now Caitlin Clark is established and get her team there,
or if this is going to be a couple of
year project, just like it was with Sabrina and Nescue.

Speaker 2 (01:13:25):
Matt, I'm not going to make you pick a finals winner,
but before I let you go, how many games do
you think the NBA Finals goes?

Speaker 7 (01:13:32):
I'm going to go, you know what, because selfishly, I'm
going to go seven.

Speaker 2 (01:13:36):
Okay, I can live with that. Matt lit Why not?
Matt Lively, CBS Sports Bay Area anchor and reporter, Thank
you for joining us. Guys. We will be back with
your feel good stories of the week. This is Fox
Sports Saturday. We are coming to you live from the
Fox Sports Radio studios, and because we like to end
on a positive note, we are going to talking about

(01:13:58):
our feel good stories of the week. I'm actually gonna
start on this one. If that's Okay, yeah, do you
like that? I said that, and that made it into
a questions.

Speaker 4 (01:14:08):
You could tell me anything right now. This music's got
me feeling good. Great you Dan, thank you, keep it coming.

Speaker 2 (01:14:13):
This is a good song. This actually is. That's a
feel good story.

Speaker 3 (01:14:16):
And it's like Saturday afternoon listening to Fox Sport Radio
on the beach sipping something ice cool.

Speaker 2 (01:14:22):
Baby, we're dancing here in studio. In case you can't
see that, I really do like the song. This is
a really good song. All right, I'm still gonna go
to my feel good story. Derrick Henry and Adam Sandler.
So I don't know if you saw this earlier this week,
but cousin, yes, no, no, but a lot of people
do think that you almost got me there too, So

(01:14:43):
I was like, yes, no, but not related as far
as we know. But that would be a feel good
story too one time if we find out that we
are in fact.

Speaker 3 (01:14:50):
Adam, I know you're listening, so just DM Tracy on
Instagram with your fingerprint so we can confirm.

Speaker 2 (01:14:56):
Please, yep, that would be great. In the meantime, Adam
Sandler this week said that if Derrick Henry hits two
thousand yards he's gonna put him in one of his movies.
Love it and they had like a phone call, a
whole social media think it's great. So anyways, I thought
that was really fun because like, this is the thing
that's cool. Athletes are people, two guys, and so Derrick Henry,
one of the great running backs of our time, trumendous athlete,

(01:15:19):
would be really excited to be in an Adam Sandler
movie as.

Speaker 4 (01:15:22):
He should be one hundred percent how fun.

Speaker 3 (01:15:24):
Adam Sandler movies are always funny, that is true, And
Derrick Henry was one of my favorite interviews. We interviewed
him last year at training camp when he uh, you know,
first season obviously with the Ravens. Great guy, Like you
see this guy who's drinking avocado smoothies and like mister
like focused he's when he walks up, like there's not
an ounce of fat on that guy's bones, and you're like, oh,

(01:15:44):
this guy's gonna be real serious.

Speaker 4 (01:15:46):
He wasn't like so respectable, so nice. I want this
to happen. How many yards does he have to rush?

Speaker 2 (01:15:52):
Two thousand?

Speaker 4 (01:15:53):
Okay, fine, done, done and done done? When is the movie?
When is the movie coming out? Next summer? Let's go.

Speaker 2 (01:15:57):
Yeah, let's go. I like that dune, and I'm sure
that Derek Henry would also appreciate that. You're like done
and done, easy, done.

Speaker 3 (01:16:03):
I got you just like ty Reese. I'm Derick Henry's
number one fan. It's like a big day for Bridget
and you need me to be a fan. Just I
got it, I got it. Okay, you want to hear mine,
I sure do. Let's go back to hockey because we're
hockey goals.

Speaker 2 (01:16:16):
We are hockey gals.

Speaker 7 (01:16:17):
Now.

Speaker 4 (01:16:17):
NHL brought back It's Stanley Pup event. Did you see this?

Speaker 3 (01:16:21):
Yes?

Speaker 4 (01:16:22):
Okay?

Speaker 3 (01:16:22):
A friendly competition featuring adoptable rescue dogs. All thirty two
teams were represented by a four legged friend, showcasing their
skills on ice. The goal is to raise awareness about
pet adoption and support shelter animals.

Speaker 4 (01:16:35):
Incredible.

Speaker 2 (01:16:36):
I just want you to know that if I attended
that event, I would call you and be like Bridge
and I have thirty two new dogs. I think they
all just run around my house. That would be a
dream come true. I did see that. It was adorable.

Speaker 3 (01:16:49):
It is such a great idea. Whoever came up with
that probably was chat needs a promotion. Because who doesn't
love dogs? Who doesn't love dogs? On the ice and
it raises I mean we're talking about it. People are
talking about it, and that's the whole purpose, right, So
many of these cute little doggies are in these shelters
and they need homes.

Speaker 2 (01:17:10):
As a dog mom of two rescues, I could not
make it three May thirty or make it thirty two,
thirty four thirty four. Yes that I know. My parents
are listening right now thinking the problem is that she's
not entirely kidding.

Speaker 3 (01:17:24):
Not a big backyard, right, just put them back there
and come let them in and give them treats, and.

Speaker 2 (01:17:28):
Yeah, I'm sure that don't work out. Just fine.

Speaker 3 (01:17:30):
You would be the person where if they're like I
have thirty two dogs, a lot of times it's like
what's wrong with this person?

Speaker 4 (01:17:35):
Oh my god, these poor dogs. But like I would
be like, yes, and they all.

Speaker 2 (01:17:38):
Love you, that's true, and I would love them all.

Speaker 4 (01:17:40):
Yeah, you would.

Speaker 3 (01:17:41):
I mean, you should have a hotel for dogs. You
should literally start your own shelter. Again, radio talk doesn't
work out. Tracy Shelter, the what did I call you?
The Princess of puns, Princess of Punts will be your
ring Princess and Puppies.

Speaker 4 (01:17:57):
You're oh, that could be the name of my shelter.

Speaker 2 (01:18:01):
This is the most feel good.

Speaker 4 (01:18:02):
And then you can get Adam Sandler to sponsor.

Speaker 2 (01:18:04):
It and potentially make a movie about me and my
thirty four dollars.

Speaker 3 (01:18:07):
And you know who's going to be the voice of
the dog, Derrick Henry, And it all circles back.

Speaker 2 (01:18:12):
Baby, I'm so excited about this. Again, if my parents
are listening, being like, oh my, this is a possibility,
this is gonna happen. Yeah, Well, I do love.

Speaker 4 (01:18:20):
Dogs, and Derrick Henry is that dog.

Speaker 2 (01:18:23):
That was beautiful. That from the Princess of Puns. That
was absolutely beautiful. My last feel good story of the week,
but my last the first I had one, and I
was be my second. We talked about it. At the
top of the show. Coco got her first French open
when it was just really fun to watch her. She's
lying on the court, Spike Lee is cheering her on

(01:18:43):
in the stands. I guess the Knicks are out and
now he's moved on to another sport to cheer for it,
and I love it. But I was just really happy
for her. I like her so much, and it was
it was just fun to watch that for.

Speaker 3 (01:18:54):
Her twenty one years old. We are we are seeing
a star rise and it's not gonna be.

Speaker 2 (01:19:01):
Here last How old is Tyry Saliburton?

Speaker 4 (01:19:03):
Come on, Tracy, don't do that to me.

Speaker 2 (01:19:05):
Well, he's around He's got to be around brock Party's age,
So I would say he's probably twenty five because.

Speaker 4 (01:19:08):
The time he's twenty five born in two thousand? Isn't
that crazy?

Speaker 2 (01:19:11):
That is crazy?

Speaker 4 (01:19:11):
Two or thousand, Like that seems like crazy.

Speaker 2 (01:19:14):
It does well, this is the rise of the twenty
something athletes? Is that going to be the name of
the documentary?

Speaker 4 (01:19:20):
Me and it's Tyres and brock Party sitting down together
talking to Cocoa Gough love it.

Speaker 2 (01:19:25):
Derek Henry running by on his way to two thousand yards.

Speaker 4 (01:19:28):
And he's like oo because he's a dog. It's I am.

Speaker 3 (01:19:31):
If people are just tuning in, they're like, what are
they talking?

Speaker 2 (01:19:35):
What are we listening to?

Speaker 4 (01:19:37):
You gotta go back and watch the whole thing.

Speaker 2 (01:19:39):
Yeah, you're gonna have to listen to the podcast because
we talked about a lot of good things. This has
been feel good stories of the week. Rigid. I have
felt really good getting to host with you. This was
a lot of fun.

Speaker 4 (01:19:48):
A dream come true.

Speaker 2 (01:19:49):
Tracy, all right, you guys, coming up fount next on
Fox Sports Saturday, it's Steve Hartman and Martin Weiss. So
continue the fun.
