Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Hello, we are broadcasting live.
Speaker 3 (00:06):
We are so we are so back, so back broadcasting
live from the Fox Sports Radio studios. Tracy Zandler here
with Nikki k We made it. We have made it
to football, real live football.
Speaker 4 (00:19):
Nikki. I woke up at six am just to turn
on College Game Day and just then obviously big noon kickoff. Absolutely,
you know, it's just give me all the football on
TV at all times.
Speaker 3 (00:32):
Please, and going forward there will be all the football
on TV all the time, all the time. And that
is so exciting. It has been a week in the
world of sports. It felt like every day something huge
and crazy happened. But we're going to start with and
I want everybody to know, to know that it pains
me to.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
Start with what we're going to start with. We are
going to start by talking about the Texas game against
that team in Ohio. I will say it fine, Ohio
State buck.
Speaker 4 (01:03):
Guys, reigning national champs taking on the number one ranked
Texas Longhorns led by preseason or I'm putting it in
quotes now preseason because it is the season. Yes, preseason,
season Heisman favorite arch Manning, and I mean they start
(01:26):
to this game was not what people had expected.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
No, it definitely was not.
Speaker 3 (01:33):
It was seven to nothing Ohio State at halftime and
they end up winning the game fourteen to seven, and
it definitely not was not what people expected. You know,
Ohio States the raining champs. But want to I want
to take a second, Farch. Okay, I'm gonna take all.
Speaker 4 (01:48):
I have some opinions. I don't know if they're too strong,
too soon.
Speaker 3 (01:52):
Never never too strong an opinion on this show, okay,
because I will say all the things I think of
Ohio State, but I'll start with the second.
Speaker 4 (01:58):
For Arch.
Speaker 3 (02:00):
It was certainly not the game everybody was hoping he
would have. But in fairness Arch, is it perhaps possible
that he was too hyped up?
Speaker 4 (02:09):
Oh? Absolutely, and like that it was.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
Too much on him that he did not put on himself.
Speaker 3 (02:13):
They're playing the reigning national champions, who still lost to
Michigan last year, and that's a tough game. So that's
my thing on Arch. There's my one little arch.
Speaker 4 (02:23):
I think, right, I think just as a fan, ready
to you know, sit down with the proverbial popcorn and
watch cinema in this matchup, which oftentimes is what happens
when the expectations get too high, you kind of get
a result. And it is first first game of the season.
I have to give so many kudos to that Ohio
(02:45):
State defense.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
Please go ahead and do it, I mean the one
to do it.
Speaker 4 (02:48):
Wow. Wow, they they shut they shut it down. They
did shut it down. And that fourth and was it
fourth and one fourth and like and inches and fourth
and goal and didn't didn't allow the tush push to flourish.
But I, I just I think this is where we're at.
(03:11):
Obviously in today's uh sports media discourse, sports discourse in general,
you get a name like Manning, the family around him,
the hype building up for three seasons, you know, three
years he's sitting and you know, studying, and wow, this
is this is his debut. I found that his his
(03:32):
outing today, his passes were wildly inconsistent, and that that
last drive was emblematic of it all. He you know,
missed a wide receiver, he threw an NFL pass like
you know on dialed to the sideline and then and
then under threw a guy uh for on that fourth
drive or fourth down. So it was it was a
(03:54):
little bit disappointing, right.
Speaker 2 (03:56):
Definitely was disappointing.
Speaker 3 (03:57):
It is a sports fans, a football fans, disappointing because
there has been so much excitement around it. There has
been so much hype around it, and the name Manning
comes with a lot. That's not his fault, that's just
how he was, how he was born into, but it
was it was disappointing as a sports fan. But my
question to you, actually, and this will matter next week
(04:18):
for the first week of NFL too. Obviously in college football,
each game means so much when it comes to the
playoff and the postseason on all of that. But do
we over are we going to overreact to week one
and be like it's now well, Arjane it?
Speaker 2 (04:33):
Or are we going to give him another chance? I mean,
he's going to play.
Speaker 4 (04:37):
Right, I think that. I think the chatter is going
to start going right and Arch Manning overrated, Arch, isn't it?
Blah blah blah. This is Week one, two highly touted
teams and if that's you know, if that's his introduction
to the season against the reigning champs and arguably one
of you know, the best the best defenses in college football,
(05:02):
right team, I mean, yeah, listen, it breaks my heart
and pains me to say it, but this is a
very good college football team, right, So that is though,
now the discourse will be criticizing, wondering how he responds,
if he's all he's built up to be. But then
when you think about the big picture and the expanded
(05:24):
college football playoff, now we're going to see teams in
there with two losses at the end of the season.
So how impactful is this on the Longhorns, you know,
championship hopes? I nobody will really know because this also
could look like a quote unquote good loss, right.
Speaker 3 (05:40):
Oh absolutely, And you know the champs had two losses
last year, so it definitely could look like a good loss.
Speaker 2 (05:47):
It could be a really good.
Speaker 3 (05:48):
Story that now after this week, if he just comes out,
they come out and just dominate, or he plays so
much better than it becomes a great story. But that
is the beauty of all of this, because this week
the discourse will be oh rated, overhyped, disappointing.
Speaker 2 (06:02):
It comes out next week and has an amazing game.
It was a fluke and week one he was like,
it's just.
Speaker 4 (06:08):
That's all about how you respond. And so that's very
much like that, right right, And as heightened as the
you know, the the chatter will be it can is
it can quickly be silenced.
Speaker 3 (06:21):
Yes, it can be. Oh that was that was beautifully said.
Oh that you know, I want to write that down ours.
Speaker 4 (06:26):
We're we're feeling proverbial today because all the coaches are
on our screens and uh I also got to give
a good nod to Lee Corso, who's who's doing his
final right.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
Yeah, I had.
Speaker 3 (06:37):
We definitely we'll be talking more about that. But it
really was.
Speaker 2 (06:40):
I think we sh talked about a little bit because
it was. It was really beautiful. I mean, it really was.
Speaker 3 (06:44):
And what a mark he's left, you know, that's a
cool thing to see what a mark he has left
on college football, on broadcasting, how.
Speaker 2 (06:52):
Beloved he is. But it was it's sad. It's the
end of an era.
Speaker 4 (06:57):
I really appreciate, you know, in talking about the impact
he's left in creating attention and spectacle around the sport
and him, I mean even Kirk herb Street was saying
that he used to, you know, do so much prepper.
He still does. But Lee would look at him and
be like, how many assistant coaches did you chat with today?
(07:18):
Do you remember we're in the art of entertainment, and
I think that sometimes we all take ourselves a little
bit too seriously in this medium. So it's it's fun
to have someone remind us of belevity and the joy
in what we.
Speaker 3 (07:33):
Do, absolutely and that it is a game. Right, We're
watching games, and what a fun thing that is.
Speaker 5 (07:39):
Yeh.
Speaker 3 (07:40):
Think about how exciting we were when the show started
a few minutes ago, Like we're back. There is football,
There is joy.
Speaker 2 (07:45):
I mean I did. I woke up today with joy
because I was like, my boys are back.
Speaker 4 (07:50):
And we come from two very different college of football perspectives. Right.
You you went to Michigan, you have I mean, you
just won a national championship. I went to UCLA, where listen,
college football. It's it's not.
Speaker 2 (08:06):
Our you know, it's our basketball school. We're about basketball.
Speaker 4 (08:11):
That being said, when I went there, I worked for
the college football team and I was a recruiting assistant,
and I have so much pride for that program. I
have so much joy that game days are back. I
know I will inevitably be disappointed throughout this season.
Speaker 2 (08:28):
Probably, but asure bubble.
Speaker 6 (08:30):
Right.
Speaker 4 (08:31):
But that being said, when the blue and gold, hey,
we're both shades of blue and Gold, we are what's
Michigan's We're We're mazed Okay blue and Maize, blue and gold. Yeah,
when we're on TV, it's it's joy. It's still your
college football team.
Speaker 3 (08:46):
There's something to me about college sports, no matter how
big a fan I am of anything else. And I
think anyone who follows me, knows me, listens to the show,
knows I am like as big a Dodgers fan as
a person could be.
Speaker 2 (08:57):
But I didn't go to the University of Dodgers.
Speaker 3 (09:00):
I went to the University of Michigan, and there is
something about that level of fandom and pride. It's for me,
the fandom where I actually feel a part of it.
Speaker 4 (09:10):
Now I don't feel.
Speaker 3 (09:10):
I mean, I'm a huge Dodger fan, but again, I
didn't go to the Uiversity of Dodgers.
Speaker 2 (09:14):
I don't work for the Dodgers.
Speaker 3 (09:15):
I don't play for the Dodgers, which that last part
is good for everyone involved.
Speaker 2 (09:19):
But I went to Michigan and that there is something
different about that.
Speaker 4 (09:23):
I completely understand what you're saying, and I, you know,
covering the Dodgers in the World Series electric nothing like it.
But when I went to UCLA men's basketball in the
Final four covering that walking around that arena and seeing
other UCLA fans. It's like watching, you know, being there
(09:44):
on assignment, but then feeling part of the culture and
the community. It's it's a different and I think that's
what all these fans and you know, members of collegiate
you know, energies and communities they feel on these game days.
There's nothing like a college game day tailgate. It's so
great when you're when you're in in the you know,
(10:06):
parking lot, getting ready to walk into your stadium. It's
just it's electric.
Speaker 2 (10:11):
It is electric.
Speaker 3 (10:13):
And I feel a little bit for Austin, Texas today
because the UT fans may be prematurely perhaps but maybe
in a little bit of shambles. I remember going to Michigan,
even the game's not at Michigan, going to Michigan and
you're watching, you've kind of like tailgated it home with
all your friends, and it's a big game and they lose,
(10:34):
and it kind of the rest of the weekend in
ann Arbor was just said, and I wonder if it'll
be like that today in Austin or they're in Austin and.
Speaker 4 (10:43):
They might be like, you know what, that's okay, we're
still in auten. Yeah, that's right time. You know what
Matthew McConaughey would say, what would he say? Red light
turns into a green light? So roll on?
Speaker 2 (10:53):
God, you know what? I love that man? Oh really do. I.
Speaker 4 (10:56):
When I can't sleep, I put on his audiobook Green Lights,
and it's just like he's the best person to like
have read you a story.
Speaker 2 (11:04):
That sounds amazing actually the way he.
Speaker 4 (11:06):
Tells a story and delivers it.
Speaker 3 (11:07):
So I think he might do sleep stories on the comments, yes,
oh yes, and so I've listened that too. He is
the best person to tell you a story. And probably
I wouldn't be surprised if he was in the locker
room after the game.
Speaker 2 (11:18):
So exactly what you just said.
Speaker 4 (11:20):
Red lat turns into a green light?
Speaker 1 (11:22):
Yes?
Speaker 4 (11:22):
I love that.
Speaker 2 (11:24):
Oh, Matthew McConaughey.
Speaker 3 (11:25):
He's just between you and Matthew McConaughey. We have some
really good like things to take with us sayings into.
Speaker 4 (11:32):
The weekend word game day ready. But yeah, ultimately, like
I don't know, Tracy, what do you when you look
at how that game played out? Obviously I think anyone
checking and you know, turning on the game at halftime,
seeing a score is seven, nothing between you know, number one,
number three ranked programs. What did you what did you see?
What were you impressed by? I know, I know your
(11:54):
tentatively rivals with one of the programs.
Speaker 2 (11:57):
Well, not tentatively fair ene wrong word there, not.
Speaker 3 (12:01):
Tenably, but I will I'm gonna put my Michigan hat aside,
And partly I'm gonna do that because then when Michigan
beats Ohio State again this year, I can talk about
how all the more impressive it, right, all the more
impressive it was, and how much praise I gave them.
Speaker 2 (12:13):
But I'm impressed Ohio State.
Speaker 3 (12:15):
That is is like so hard for me to say,
but I'm trying to be a professional.
Speaker 2 (12:20):
They're a really good football team.
Speaker 3 (12:22):
That defense is fantastic, they still have so much talent
on offense.
Speaker 2 (12:27):
They're the reigning champs.
Speaker 4 (12:28):
I mean, they are a.
Speaker 2 (12:29):
Really really good football team. And it showed.
Speaker 3 (12:34):
And I don't know that they should have been ranked
number three, and so it definitely showed. Today I felt
more about them. I mean, I feel like they showed
me more than Texas, and that Texas I'm still I
don't know. I got to see them play a few
more weeks Ohio State. It feels like they kind of
just picked up from where they left off in the
National Championship, and they really looked great. And honestly, this
(12:57):
is like the hardest segment I've ever had to do.
And I hopefully don't take my degree away when.
Speaker 4 (13:03):
You Michigan's listening, right, all of Michigan guys, I'm so sorry,
all of them.
Speaker 1 (13:09):
Sorry.
Speaker 4 (13:10):
Do you have any other matchups you're looking forward to today?
Speaker 7 (13:13):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (13:13):
Yes, in Michigan, New Mexico.
Speaker 3 (13:16):
But I see that there are I know there are
other matchups they But if you're.
Speaker 4 (13:20):
Asking you what l I am looking forward to?
Speaker 2 (13:22):
The Alabama game is on right now.
Speaker 3 (13:25):
But if you're asking what I look forward to, the
debut of Bryce Underwood, true freshman quarterback is really led
out the bank for right, They sure did, so I'm
excited for that.
Speaker 4 (13:35):
You guys.
Speaker 3 (13:36):

Huge news this week coming out of Dallas and going
into Green Bay. Ian and Chris, I want to know
where each of you were when you heard the Micah
Parsons trade news.
Speaker 8 (15:40):
Uh, let's see.
Speaker 10 (15:41):
I was at home, okay, and I think I was
about ready to start pouring my tie.
Speaker 8 (15:47):
Oh I have a whole teky bar.
Speaker 2 (15:50):
This might be a show, or say in itself, I'm sorry.
Speaker 8 (15:54):
It's like half my brand is being a teaky guy.
Speaker 4 (15:57):
What.
Speaker 8 (15:58):
Yeah, I love that stuff.
Speaker 2 (16:00):
Okay, we're coming.
Speaker 8 (16:02):
I've got way too much, right.
Speaker 4 (16:04):
How are we supposed to continue talking about football now?
Speaker 1 (16:07):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (16:07):
I don't know that we can.
Speaker 4 (16:08):
Where are my ties?
Speaker 7 (16:10):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (16:10):
Exactly, there's the first question.
Speaker 8 (16:12):
Uh, let's see, we'll have to set up everything next week.
Speaker 4 (16:15):
Okay, m wait, I have one quick question. Yeah, for
those who are frequenters of your tiki bar, is there
a typical you know, like, what's the my tie line
where people either you know, hit the floor or the
party's just just right? Is it like a one point
five my tie or I I.
Speaker 10 (16:34):
Actually specialize more towards like navy grog, and that is
the uh, the stuff that'll knock people out, because that's
usually like usually Navy Grog's like three shots. I do
like about three and a half and that half is
one fifty one.
Speaker 2 (16:46):
Okay, well, and it's going to be hard to top.
Speaker 8 (16:49):
I'm sorry. I thought we were supposed to talk about
Micha Parsisi.
Speaker 11 (16:52):
Yes, we probably should have started with me then, Yeah, okay,
mine's a lot more boring. No, I was just I
was just at home and uh, I was reading, which yeah,
you know I try to try to read lately and
not not good job. Yeah no, but that's what I
mean is like it's a rare thing for me. So
the fact that I was reading when this huge news dropped,
(17:12):
it's like, you know.
Speaker 4 (17:13):
Are we a fiction reader? Non fiction fiction?
Speaker 5 (17:16):
Yeah?
Speaker 11 (17:16):
Okay for sure, but yeah, no, and then and then
I heard one of my roommates from the other room
say it like, oh, Mike to the packers, and then
I got the notification on my phone and yeah, wild
I remember the first words out of my mouth.
Speaker 2 (17:27):
Wow, Well that's that I think is.
Speaker 3 (17:29):
I was in the media workroom at Levi Stadium and
literally someone just went whoa, and all of us were like, Micah,
it's just we kind of knew that the.
Speaker 8 (17:38):
Entire yeah, oh wow, all the words.
Speaker 4 (17:41):
We had already learned that Taylor and Travis were engaged,
so that was the big one new.
Speaker 3 (17:45):
Yeah, So definitely what I was like, did they get
engaged again or we had a countdown clock to the wedding.
Speaker 10 (17:51):
I had seen the Ricky report from that that that
like from a couple of days ago, and as Alliance fan,
IM like, I hate the root against Ricky here, but
I'm I'm really hoping this isn't going to happen.
Speaker 2 (18:02):
But oh, it happened.
Speaker 8 (18:03):
It happened.
Speaker 3 (18:03):
You in the entire city of Dallas, who's had a
very rough several months. First Luca, now Micah the Cowboy.
Speaker 4 (18:12):
You got Cooper in there.
Speaker 3 (18:14):
They got Cooper in there. I think at the moment.
That is not as much solace as you think.
Speaker 2 (18:18):
It would be. But I think it should be maybe
down the road, right. But well, I just I just
don't understand.
Speaker 3 (18:26):
I think there's certainly an ego at play that figured
all figured out, and he did not.
Speaker 4 (18:34):
I'm happy for Micah.
Speaker 2 (18:35):
I'm happy for Micah too.
Speaker 3 (18:36):
He looks so happy in his yellow cap and green
and yellow stripe sweater in that facility.
Speaker 2 (18:42):
He looked like the weight of the world is off
his shoulders.
Speaker 4 (18:45):
I just feel like with a lot of these, you know,
contract holdouts told ends, there's eventually a sense that you
will you know, the boat, both parties will agree in it,
and the guy will be back in uniform. But I
or said player, Yeah, I did not feel that way.
(19:08):
You know, the more I heard from Jerry and you know,
kind of the way he talked about Micah, and it
just felt a little bit disrespectful. And you know, you
understand players wanting to advocate for all their worth and
getting what they deserve, and then him talking about oh,
Micah and I, you know, we decided on something together.
He's a twenty six year old young man, like his
(19:31):
agent of course, is going to step in and say.
Speaker 3 (19:33):
No, absolutely and decide on somebody together, or did you
talk about something and Micah said that sounds interesting.
Speaker 2 (19:40):
Let me talk to my agent or let me have
my agent call you.
Speaker 3 (19:42):
I mean that, this whole thing, even him calling him
Michael in the press conference after it's it is dispects.
Speaker 4 (19:49):
Yeah, it just had a bad stench to it.
Speaker 3 (19:52):
It did, and it's really unfortunate because I think there
were a lot of people. I was not one of them,
but I think there were a lot of people that
felt like this could be a year Redell really surprised people.
Speaker 4 (20:01):
I'm so tired of that every every every preseason.
Speaker 2 (20:07):
Well then I would love to hear it.
Speaker 8 (20:09):
That was off air. But yeah, we have a sound of.
Speaker 11 (20:11):
Micah okay, okay saying how he feels about being traded.
Speaker 3 (20:14):
Yeah, yeah, would you please play the sound that's telling
being trade itself.
Speaker 12 (20:19):
Honestly, everything happens for a reason. It's a blessing in disguise.
Speaker 5 (20:23):
You know you.
Speaker 12 (20:24):
I may not know had that answer for you yet,
but I'm gonna figure it out and I'm gonna just
keep I'm gonna work hard every day.
Speaker 5 (20:32):
To prove that.
Speaker 12 (20:32):
You know, the Packers organization made the right decision and
trusted me, and you know I'm gonna carry.
Speaker 5 (20:39):
That with me.
Speaker 2 (20:41):
Well, there you go, and everything does happen for a reason.
Speaker 3 (20:44):
I don't know that that's a lot of solis to
Cowboys fans right the second.
Speaker 4 (20:48):
I don't.
Speaker 3 (20:48):
I think they think the reason it happened is truly problematic.
Speaker 8 (20:52):
Especially after Luca. The poor city of Dallas.
Speaker 2 (20:55):
The poor city of Dallas.
Speaker 4 (20:56):
But then you can make the argument that Cowboys fans
are among the most insufferable in all of sports.
Speaker 2 (21:03):
Okay, there you could.
Speaker 4 (21:05):
You could make that. You could make the argument.
Speaker 2 (21:07):
You could make the argument, but then you could make.
Speaker 3 (21:09):
The hypothetical hyphipathetically, you could make that argument, but then
you could make the argument of this is like, Okay,
I'm going on.
Speaker 4 (21:18):
I'm separating MAVs and Cowboys fans. I think we need
to do that for the sake of this discussion because
or I you know, because the MAVs is has been,
you know, a franchise that retained the likes of Dirk Navitzky,
Like they've won an NBA championship in the last what
were they twenty twelve, twenty eleven. Yeah, but they've they've
(21:40):
been there, They've been in the post. I just this
Cowboys franchise has for I don't know, I don't know.
Speaker 8 (21:49):
Well, and there's Cowboys fans everywhere, right Dallas.
Speaker 4 (21:53):
Yes, yeah, thank you for seeing where I'm going with that.
Speaker 3 (21:58):
Well, my hypothetical on wh on Cowboys fans being inseufferable
and this is probably me me being way too nice
to Cowboys fans, so I will preface it with that.
But you know, sometimes you're on a date with the.
Speaker 4 (22:10):
Guy who talks about how all his exes are crazy,
and yet like they can all be crazy.
Speaker 3 (22:14):
Perhaps you've driven them crazy? Are they insufferable because their
proverbial date.
Speaker 2 (22:20):
Has driven them crazy?
Speaker 3 (22:22):
And that being Jerry Jones, there's there was that was
that That's my deep thought of the day, right?
Speaker 4 (22:28):
Or has it become like that one of those couples
on Instagrams that tags each other and collapse on every
post together? You know what I'm saying. And see what
you're saying, They're insufferable together, So maybe they deserve each other.
I'm not saying it. I'm not saying it, but there
(22:49):
there is a little bit of you know, ride in
the high of winning winning a Super Uh, when was
the when it was quite sometimes they won a Super
Bowl or even a playoff game. I told her, I
told I was telling Steve Hartman this story. I was
watching a great TikTok of a girl. She was trolling
her boyfriend all decked out and Cowboys gear, and she's
(23:10):
he doesn't know she's filming him, And she says, you know,
I'm looking for a VHS player. I can't find one
online for anything under one hundred three hundred dollars. He goes,
why do you need that. We can watch anything without
a VHS player. She's like, no, it's for you. It's
for you can't watch this, And he goes, what do
you need to watch? And she goes, oh, I just
wanted to watch the last time the Cowboys won a
(23:31):
Super Bowl.
Speaker 3 (23:32):
Well, I can tell you the last time the Cowboys
won a Super Bowl, and not because I have a
wealth of information in my head, but because Ian is
nice and let me know that it was nineteen ninety five.
We are going to go to someone now, though, who
is not insufferable, who's, in fact, we adore him a
tree a treat.
Speaker 4 (23:51):
He is a treat.
Speaker 3 (23:52):
The great Martin Wis, who could also tell us where
he was when he gone up the Mica.
Speaker 5 (23:55):
News way to work.
Speaker 2 (23:57):
That feels like good timing.
Speaker 4 (23:59):
Did you break into the updates?
Speaker 13 (24:00):
No, I was actually on my way to host the show,
and I was mad because I was going to come
in the end of the day and say Jerry should.
Speaker 5 (24:07):
Trade Michael Parsons. Oh and then beat me.
Speaker 2 (24:11):
Still your thunder, He's still your thunder.
Speaker 5 (24:12):
Jerk.
Speaker 4 (24:13):
Rude. I know, so rude. He's insufferable, right.
Speaker 13 (24:17):
No, Honestly, what was insufferable was watching Arts Manning hit
a wide open receiver in the ankle in the first
five seconds of.
Speaker 5 (24:25):
The game today.
Speaker 4 (24:26):
That was what about? What about that fourth quarter final drive?
That was kind of insufferable too.
Speaker 13 (24:31):
Just let me oh, he hit a whole shot and
cover two and everybody's like that's what yeah, yeah, and
then just bad ball, bad ball, bad ball.
Speaker 8 (24:39):
I don't think defense did play well though.
Speaker 13 (24:41):
Matt Patricia went to the same like, uh, what a
Pilates class that Brian Daboll went to a couple of
years ago. Where'd the rest of him go? Because he
just had the big beer, still the pencil, still the laminar,
but he lost like he lost like a.
Speaker 2 (24:55):
No joke, you guys. Pilates is no joke.
Speaker 5 (24:58):
Well, Ohio State defense, it's also no joke.
Speaker 13 (25:00):
There forced four turnovers on downs, two of them in
the red zone.
Speaker 5 (25:04):
Arts managed an interception.
Speaker 13 (25:06):
Oh how Smith archiever Jeremy Smith that six catches forty
three yards.
Speaker 5 (25:11):
And a fourteen to seven win for the third ranked
bluck Eyes.
Speaker 13 (25:15):
This is the first time the number one team lost
their opener since I think was Iowa nineteen eighty five.
Speaker 5 (25:21):
What does the team do that anyway?
Speaker 13 (25:24):
Penn State hosting Nevada right now up two scores ten
to nothing with ten minutes left in the first half.
Speaker 5 (25:30):
Nine minutes left in the first half.
Speaker 13 (25:31):
Georgia just scored another touchdown against Marshall twenty to nothing,
simp to end there with the ten minutes left in
the first half.
Speaker 5 (25:39):
Eight minutes left in the second quarter.
Speaker 13 (25:41):
Iowa stayed with a twenty one to seven lead over
South Dakota, Alabama and Florida State right now going back
and forth. Florida State just scored Alabama now third and three.
Ty Simpson gets sacked. He's been playing. We played well
in the first quarter, seven for eight. It's fourteen minutes,
twenty five seconds left in the second seven to seven there,
Alabama about to punt back to the seven and O
(26:03):
seven thranked Oregon with a seventeenth to nothing lead over
Montana State with six sixteen left in the first quarter.
Speaker 5 (26:10):
Earlier today we saw.
Speaker 13 (26:12):
Tennessee, the twenty fourth ranked team in the nation, beat
Syracuse forty five to twenty six and again and the
much anticipated first road start for arch Manning There I
say I, played by Julian Sayan Ian disagrees with me.
We've been going back and forth about this, says Julian,
saying wasn't any good either. A lot of drops for
Ohio State today, but fourteenth to seven, the buck guys
(26:35):
get to win.
Speaker 3 (26:36):
Back to you guys, thank you very much, Martin with
follow breath with the iHeart you guys having trouble with
the words because of all the Ohio State ones I've
had to say. With the iHeartRadio app, you can stream

very excited to welcome Mike Golick, junior co host of

Speaker 4 (27:14):
We can now finally get.
Speaker 3 (27:16):
To the biggest news of the week by far, and
that is the Taylor swifting.
Speaker 4 (27:22):
You're drunk in the back of the car and I
like a baby coming home from the barn.
Speaker 7 (27:28):
Oh guy. So liberating to be among like minded individuals
who see them see the picture clearly the way you
guys clearly do.
Speaker 4 (27:38):
How were you? Where were you when the instagram was posted?
Speaker 7 (27:43):
So I was actually taping an interview for our show,
So we had Nebraska head coach Matt Ruhlan. He was
actually getting ready to coach in the Thursday night game
where Taylor and Travis.
Speaker 8 (27:53):
Went out and made their brow j full circle.
Speaker 7 (27:56):
After the engagement, and I got a text from Nicole
Arbox during that interview that just said, in all caps,
they're engaged Instagram and so I like, while my dad
was asking a question, just opened it up quickly and
got full body chills. College football coach. So that was
my life.
Speaker 2 (28:16):
That is That is absolutely fantastic.
Speaker 3 (28:18):
I'm so impressed that you didn't say, like, hey, guys,
we got to stop.
Speaker 1 (28:22):
We have to focus on our Honestly.
Speaker 7 (28:24):
I failed as a journalist by not giving Matt Rule
the chance to get his first reaction.
Speaker 4 (28:29):
I was gonna say, why didn't you ask him?
Speaker 7 (28:32):
Because I'm a power guys, I backed down from the moment,
and I hate myself for it.
Speaker 4 (28:36):
That's okay, don't hate yourself.
Speaker 3 (28:38):
That particular moment was a little too big for you,
but we know all the other moments will not be.
Speaker 2 (28:42):
That's my coach speak of the day, The moment's not
too big.
Speaker 4 (28:45):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (28:46):
That was a pretty exciting week and big day, and
it was roster cutdown day, which Travis Kelcey was well
aware of, and I felt like not he knew what
he was doing on that day.
Speaker 4 (28:57):
Right Oh yeah?
Speaker 7 (28:58):
Everyone everyone played our role that day, and now Taylor
and Travis get to play the role of impending briding groom,
which I can't wait to see.
Speaker 2 (29:06):
English teacher teacher.
Speaker 4 (29:08):
Before we get to your thoughts about the life of
a show girl, I want to ask you, first of all,
Merry Christmas. Waking up like a kid on Christmas, I'm
sure because it's Week one college football but Mike, like,
when you look at the slate we have today, I mean,
I know the game's roll on through tomorrow, which you
(29:28):
might have a little bit of a say in and
Monday as well. What are you looking at? What are
you most excited about?
Speaker 7 (29:37):
Yeah, well, I mean listen today, we know we were
all waiting for the Arch Manning Show, which ended up
being a little more of a matinee than maybe a
primetime special in a lot of ways. You know, not
the most overwhelming display of force by both five star
quarterbacks in this game, but a tightly contested defensive battle
where both these guys will have a chance to grow
from there. So obviously looking for that one for arch
(29:57):
Manning was going to be the most discussed quarterback college
football this season. It was a tough start. He looked
like a guy that was very much wearing all of
the pressure that he had coming into this season. He
did it going into a hostile road environment where they're
celebrating last year's national championship and everything's against him. At times,
he looked like he was squeezing the ball a little
bit too hard. So I think it'll be a great
one for him to grow from here. But certainly a
(30:19):
rough start out of the gate as far as the
rest of the weekend, Like the next one really for
me that I've got my eye and is LSU Clemson tonight.
I think everyone wants to see can the Clemson defense
with all that NFL talent on it, take the next
step and become dominant against the run in a way
they weren't last year. And can the offense under Cad
club that continue that consistent growth we've seen from him
(30:40):
from the young receivers they had come onto the scene
last year to offset maybe a ground game that has
been the strength of them for the last couple of years,
but now is a little bit green and light, especially
in the depth in that room. So fascinating to see
how that game plays out between two teams with Tigers,
two teams that play their home games at Death Valley.
A lot of pink slips on the line in this one.
Speaker 2 (30:59):
Oh what an intro. You should be doing the intro
for that game. That was amazing. It's fantastic rush.
Speaker 7 (31:06):
I gotta call a game to night, so I'm trying
to get in broadcast mode and get ready to sell.
So this is good feedback.
Speaker 4 (31:11):
You know, you don't even need to get in the mode.
Speaker 3 (31:13):
Mike, you're there, you are one hundred percent there. I
want to know because you have a big game this weekend,
and it is a big game this weekend, Notre Dame Miami.
Speaker 2 (31:22):
What are you expecting from your fighting Irish?
Speaker 7 (31:25):
Yeah, I think And that game against Texas and Ohio
State was kind of informative, right of right, what coordinators
do in taking care of young quarterbacks making starts in
hostile road environments. And TJ Carr, Notre Name's quarterback who
now gets his first start of his Notre Dame career
and a chance to go do it in a place
down in Miami, in a hard rock where the last
(31:45):
time Notre Name came and played there, it wasn't great.
It was an environment that consumed them and spit them
out on the other side. And so seeing how offensive
coordinator Mike Denbrock goes and uses a roster that guys
this time last year had a lot of question marks places.
Besides quarterback, Notre Name had a veteran transfer and Riley
Leonard last year when they went down to Texas A
and M for Game one, but they had an offensive
(32:07):
line that only had six career starts, Jeremiah Loved. Their
running back hadn't yet had that ascent into now being
the best returning running back in the sport, and on
on down the list. And now a year later, you've
got a great defense that should be one of the
best in college football. You've got an offensive line that
now has a ton of experience and two captains up
front in that unit, and you do have Jeremiah Love
to go and hand the ball off too. So I'm
(32:29):
going to be interested to see what their approach is
early to getting their quarterback comfortable and acclimated and then
getting their best player in Jeremiah Love. Plenty of different
opportunities to impact that game early and try and take
that home crowd out of it before they have a
chance to really get going.
Speaker 3 (32:45):
Staying on the topic of young quarterbacks, and I understand
that the Michigan New Mexico game is not that exciting
a matchup. However, it is the debut of Bryce Underwood,
true freshman quarterback, ten million dollar man. What are you
looking to see from him today? I mean, as is
someone who also has a lot of pressure on his shoulders.
Speaker 7 (33:03):
Yeah, absolutely, And I think from Michigan, you know, from
them overall. They've been a team that's been so talked
about because of the scandal with signs and the punishments
being laid down, Like I want to see if Cheron Moore,
their head coach, who was the offensive coordinator and offensive
line coach when Jim Harbaugh was there, can get back
to that identity of football of them going out and
being able to wear you out up front and then
(33:26):
kind of like they treated JJ McCarthy. There, go and
give your quarterback some very carefully planned opportunities in play action,
get him on the move, use his athleticism, and then
let him take some great throws that give him a
high percentage chance of seeing the ball go through the basket.
Early on, I think for a young player, you really
want to over cater to.
Speaker 1 (33:45):
All Right, what are the.
Speaker 7 (33:46):
Plays that he's been really comfortable with as we've gone
through and drilled it during camp, as we've gotten through
to game planning this week. Let's make sure we go
in and when we're starting to make those first ten
to fifteen plays that you might script out, how many
can we get to where it's the play that rolls
right off the tongue for him, The one he's most
comfortable with and get him a couple of those layups
early and then hopefully again be able to coast off
(34:07):
a ground game that's been the strength of Michigan during
this era where they've had their most success.
Speaker 4 (34:12):
And Mike, the past three questions we've asked you have
kind of been indicative of a common theme. Right now,
there are seven new quarterbacks in the top ten programs, right,
and I guess that's the name of the game and
this this era of college football and nil Right, So,
are we going to see teams kind of off to
(34:32):
slower starts when it comes to putting up offensive numbers?
What do you think that's going to be reflected kind
of in what we saw you know already today with
Ohio State and Texas.
Speaker 7 (34:42):
Yeah, I think for betters out there, first half unders
in FBS that yeah, have definitely been the right ticket
to play. But yeah, I do. I think it's really
interesting the season because you mentioned so many of the
top teams replacing guys like this and getting the benefit
do in the ranking for the rest of their roster,
(35:02):
the groups that they've got around them, and I think
a lot of coaches just trying to have them drive
with two hands on the wheel, and it's going to
be really interesting because on the other side, there's some
teams with high upside, lots of volatility that do have
the veteran signal callers coming back. Like you've got Carson
Beck at Miami, who's got a team that's been largely portaled,
but it's incredibly talented going up against Notre Dame.
Speaker 1 (35:23):
You've got John.
Speaker 7 (35:23):
Matteer, the Washington State quarterback, trying to do what cam
Ward did, go from Wazoo to a power for school
and then propel himself to NFL stardom as he takes
over that Oklahoma offense. And then you've got some of
the incumbents we mentioned, Garrett Nussmeyer and Kid club Nick
I think two guys that both have a shot, if
they play well this season, to be in contention for
that number one overall pick. But for those teams, you
(35:44):
want to use that to your advantage, that continuity, that
time under task with all the different players on offense,
especially your signal caller, and try and get out to
fast starts for everyone else. I do think it's going
to be, hey, can we go and rely on these
strengths while we just try and get our quarterbacks because
there's an era now that we've started in the expanded playoffs.
(36:05):
Twelve teams gives you a little bit more margin for error,
and so I think these teams understand, Hey, as long
as we don't get blown out, as long as we
don't screw this up too bad and break down a
kid's psyche early on or give the committee a game
with a huge lopsided score to go back to, we're
going to have an opportunity to grow through the season
and still play for all of the big time goals
that we want to as a team, because now you
(36:26):
can lose one or two games, maybe even more than that,
depending on what comference you're in, and still have an
opportunity to be one of those that large bids if
you're not going to win your conference.
Speaker 4 (36:35):
So what I'm hearing, Mike is that we are in
the college football twelve team era.
Speaker 2 (36:40):
Is that what you're telling me?
Speaker 7 (36:41):
Yes, exactly, I know what appropriately enough where I wish
I could make it the TS twelve era. I guess
the CFO twelve era.
Speaker 4 (36:48):
I was just going to say, Taylor Swift, Maxi, Martin Banners, right,
are you excited for this era.
Speaker 7 (36:55):
Oh, it's gonna be a guys, I said, this is
going to be like Lover on steroids. Yes, I was
thinking about it the other day. Someone had asked me
a trivia question where the answer was reputation, and we
got that reminder that that was the last Max Martin
Shellbacks Memory, an album with Taylor that we know had
plenty of big, loud, brash hits on it. And she's
happy now. She's been talking googly eyes and talking about
(37:17):
how happy she is. We saw some of it leak
out so high school on Poets Department. She wants to
unload all of that joy that she's been feeling into
some and as she said, right, tight songs, strict. It
all sounds like she understands. Hey, we're going to get
back to box and I can't wait.
Speaker 3 (37:34):
I also cannot wait. Mike, Thank you so much for
joining us today. This was a lot of fun.
Speaker 2 (37:40):
You guys.
Speaker 3 (37:40):
Coming up, we will be talking your dues and your dones.
This is Fox Sports Saturday.
Speaker 8 (37:48):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 3 (37:51):
We're coming to you live from the Fox Sports Radio studios.
I am Tracy Sandler, joined by the lovely Nikki Kay
and it is time.
Speaker 4 (38:00):
It's a great day.
Speaker 2 (38:01):
It is a great day for so many reasons, not.
Speaker 3 (38:04):
The least of which being we get to do the
dows and don'ts.
Speaker 10 (38:09):
Can I start with a real quick a spotlight on
the don't The subject brings me no joy.
Speaker 7 (38:15):
That's insane.
Speaker 8 (38:16):
It's time for the dues and the don'ts.
Speaker 4 (38:18):
In sports, Yes you can, okay, real quick, don't here,
don't tell me summer is over. I'm gonna get on
my soapbox, real quick. Summer is not over. In fact,
here in southern California, this is what we call it
the start of local summer. But on the specific meteorological database,
September twenty second is when summer is over. So don't
(38:39):
tell me summer is over.
Speaker 3 (38:40):
Okay, well, I have a fallout to that. I understand
what you're saying. I totally say you're saying. However, with
football starting, I like to think of football in the fall.
So I'm gonna just be honest without Right now, I
was planning a post for Monday that says saying goodbye
to summer.
Speaker 8 (38:58):
Saying summer's over.
Speaker 4 (38:59):
No, she's saying summer's over. I mean, can we call
it not fall? But football season.
Speaker 2 (39:04):
But I mean, I think summer is I know, I don't.
Speaker 4 (39:07):
Need a heart out.
Speaker 10 (39:08):
I think I think this is just because we're in
California and the summer really starts to kick in September
versus like my parents back and leader are telling me
it's dropping into like the sixties already.
Speaker 3 (39:18):
Oh that's fall, that's football weather. I love football ever weather. Well, Okay,
I'm gonna go ahead and I won't tell you. Okay
with this, I'm gonna a compromise. I won't tell you
summer is over.
Speaker 4 (39:30):
But just know, let me have my summer. Let me
have my endless summer. Okay, thank you.
Speaker 3 (39:34):
Okay, that's fine. I'm going to give a d uh
do leave your mark Lee Corso. We talked a little
bit about it earlier, but it was such a nice moment.
And listen again with the Ohio State. You know, this
is not so easy for me to say, but he
really special to college football, and I love the way
he left his mark. I think it kind of transcends rivalries,
(39:55):
you know, all the way around.
Speaker 2 (39:56):
So there's my little my little do for the week.
Speaker 4 (40:00):
I love that. It's it's been really special to celebrate him.
My real quick do is for mister Jerry Jones, how
about do honor your players? And I'm referencing what the
Washington commanders did, Yeah, Terry McLaurin honoring him by agreeing,
presenting the deal that he was holding out for. It
was three years, and he'll be there for the next
(40:23):
two seasons, signing bonus thirty mil. And the schedule he'll
get eighty eight million within thirty days, eight million by
December fifth, twenty twenty five, and fourteen millions by April first,
twenty twenty six. And then you know, I just I
just think the way they you know, brought him back,
kept him in and he was such an important piece
about locker room. We've talked about it before, so maybe
(40:46):
Jerry Jones should take note.
Speaker 3 (40:48):
He should and I have a don't and it's going
to be a real quick don't to take us out
of dos and don't don't be the cowboys, don't don't
beat the cowboys, don't do this, don't.
Speaker 2 (40:59):
Go with this back and forth.
Speaker 3 (41:00):
Even though Dak and Ceedeelamb got paid and Michael Parsons
was the best of the three of them, by the way,
but even though they.
Speaker 2 (41:05):
Got paid, it got dragged out. Don't be the cowboys.
Speaker 3 (41:10):
Do know your strengths and don't falter with your weaknesses,
if that made any sense.
Speaker 4 (41:16):
And don't go anywhere, and don't go anywhere because we
have a lot more NFL coming up.
Speaker 2 (41:22):
This is Fox Sports Saturday.
Speaker 7 (41:24):
You're listening to Fox Sports.
Speaker 3 (41:28):
We are broadcasting live from the Fox Sports Radio studios.
I am Tracy Sandler here with Nikki k We have
been talking so much football and it just feels amazing.
Speaker 4 (41:39):
And you know what's so.
Speaker 3 (41:39):
Great, guys, We're not done. We're still gonna be talking football.
Speaker 4 (41:44):
I love that it keeps on going. It's just beginning
Week one underway for college football. We are staring down
the kickoff of NFL. It is electric.
Speaker 3 (41:55):
We you and my goal, Like you guys should be
like oname, I I'm here for that.
Speaker 4 (42:02):
So you were you've been, you know, at your post
in the Bay area where with the San Francisco forty
nine ers. I was just at Chargers camp or Chargers
practices this week. You know they're getting ready they're going
to Brazil. I would write kicking off against the Chiefs.
I kind of think it's crazy that they count that
(42:23):
as a Chargers home game.
Speaker 3 (42:24):
I know, but that is that is how they do
it with the international games. It is kind of crazy,
but that's it. And the Niners played the Cardinals in
Mexico City a couple years ago and that was a
Cardinals home game.
Speaker 4 (42:35):
And the crazy thing of it all this trip, you know,
talking to members in the organization, are you excited? Have
you been to Brazil? I mean they don't get to
experience Brazil like you do for the London games. You
are locked down in one of the hotels, rightfully so
for safety precautions, but it is just layers of security
(42:56):
there and it's in and out, so very very different
type of you know, a broad travel experience. But I'm
kind of excited to see I mean, you remember the
debacle that the turf had in uh, last year's South
American Game. Where was that?
Speaker 2 (43:12):
I thought it was in Brazil.
Speaker 4 (43:13):
Oh, it was in Brazil.
Speaker 7 (43:14):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (43:15):
Is it the same stadium?
Speaker 2 (43:18):
Yes, yes it is?
Speaker 4 (43:19):
Oh Okay. So I wonder if the field quality has
improved what.
Speaker 2 (43:23):
You would hope would one would hope that it has
because they've had a whole year to fix that.
Speaker 4 (43:28):
Right, and I think you're dealing with like eighty five
percent humidity.
Speaker 2 (43:31):
Oh fun, yeah yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 4 (43:33):
So I will not be on that trip, but very interested.
Speaker 2 (43:36):
Not the end of summer in Brazil.
Speaker 4 (43:38):
You you would get a kick out of this. I
had a fifteen minute sit down with Jim Harbaugh.
Speaker 3 (43:44):
First of all, I mean, I hope you realize how
amazing and lucky you for.
Speaker 4 (43:47):
That well this man, and you know, I'm ready to
dance during these interviews like where we go and what
we're talking? At no point during that interview did I
know where it was going. That's the beauty of you
never know where it's going. And when that man looks
at you, you don't know if if you guys are
(44:08):
both in on an inside joke together, or if he
has no clue what you're asking, or he is so
unimpressed by your question. And you know, that's like when
in interviews, that's what you're trying to regulate, right, Like, Okay,
does he want me to ask my next question? Here?
Is is he going to keep going? Are we about
(44:30):
to giggle together?
Speaker 3 (44:31):
It's a lot of and he's also I think the
best in the business at being asked a question and
evading the answer, evading the answer but giving a very,
very long detailed answer about something else entirely.
Speaker 2 (44:47):
It's actually it's a talent.
Speaker 4 (44:49):
And still trying. I'm just laughing, like processing what I
was going through lifetime with that interview, I'd ask some
questions in a press conc Prince before. Obviously I've gotten
my feel of hearing is you know, his anecdotes and
quotes on you know that go viral. He is just
(45:10):
it kind of gives a little bit of Mike Gundy,
who I also covered because Gundhy when asked a difficult
question that maybe he didn't want to answer. Before you
know it, you're hearing a story about him in the
fifth grade learning how to hunt turtles, and it was
(45:33):
his way of winning over the press room by just
being entertaining. But then you leave that anecdote wondering, so
what's the status of your secondary right.
Speaker 3 (45:46):
So first of all, I would just like to say
for the record that Jim Harbaugh would never hunt a turtle.
Speaker 4 (45:51):
Okay, I think that's the most important thing. You want
to take They take you on a ride with their
their docers. That's what I meant.
Speaker 2 (45:57):
No, I know, I know what you meant. I just
wanted the record to be clear for Jim Harbaugh.
Speaker 3 (46:00):
But I that is true for someone not covering Jim
Harbaugh but just enjoying Jim Harbor, it is truly amazing.
But yes, everything you described is one hundred percent true,
and that.
Speaker 2 (46:18):
Is why we love him so.
Speaker 4 (46:20):
So he's a.
Speaker 2 (46:21):
Character I like one of our bise.
Speaker 4 (46:23):
The Harbaugh's are are awesome for the.
Speaker 3 (46:25):
Sport they are and Jim is one of one. Yep,
you are not going to find another Jim Harbor. And
I mean you guys, I could talk about Jim Harbaugh
all day long, right. I guess we probably shouldn't, but
but I can.
Speaker 4 (46:35):
If you want to, let's talk about the AFC then okay, great,
because you know what. Both the Harba's are in it.
Speaker 2 (46:39):
Yeah, including Jim.
Speaker 4 (46:40):
What what all right?
Speaker 2 (46:41):
AFC?
Speaker 4 (46:43):
Okay, I have a question for you. We'll stay in
the AFC. Wes perfect.
Speaker 2 (46:48):
Is this the year that the Chiefs are dethroned?
Speaker 4 (46:54):
I'm listen. Just like riding with Patrick Mahomes, I am
firmly of the belief that I will say no until
I see it. I think I think they're on their
there the path for a tenth straight division championship. H I.
(47:14):
I just think we've seen the Chiefs make it to
the Super Bowl. Not not even talking about AFC West. Right,
We've seen them win in so many ways and iterations
over the past four seasons that nothing, nothing, I can
believe now at this point in the season will tell
(47:34):
me that their time atop the AFC West is done.
Speaker 3 (47:38):
I'm going to disagree with you, Okay for fun, but
you got actually not just for fell I do I do.
Speaker 2 (47:42):
I do believe it.
Speaker 3 (47:43):
I think that this is not taking it the away
from Patrick Mahomes. They very well could win the AFCs.
I think the Broncos are a really good football team,
and the forty nine Ers had joint practices with them,
and so I got to watch a lot of the
Broncos starters against the forty nine Ers starters. This defense
is so good. Bo Nicks has taken such a step forward.
(48:04):
But more than anything, I think what they did on
this defense in the off season just makes him the
best team in the AFC.
Speaker 2 (48:09):
Wes. I definitely could be wrong, Patrick Mahomes, No, but.
Speaker 3 (48:14):
I just feel like and it's not because it's not
because I think the Chiefs aren't capable. It's just that
I think I believe so strongly in the capabilities of
the Denver Broncos.
Speaker 4 (48:23):
Well, and Diana Rusini one of the best in the
biz when it comes to, you know, covering these teams.
She's known Tem Payton for a long time and I've
heard her talk about how he is waxing poetic about
bo Nicks right now and when he is when he
is high on his QB one, that's saying something about
just how locked in he is to the team. So, yeah,
(48:46):
the Broncos are definitely have emerged. I think as as
the sexy preseason, you know who's up and coming. Watch
out Denver's here.
Speaker 2 (48:57):
I like that. Watch out Denver's Here. A lot of
sayings from each day.
Speaker 4 (49:01):
I love it. Going from the gut. It's football season.
I feel ready.
Speaker 2 (49:06):
You sound ready. I hope you're writing these down that
you can see.
Speaker 4 (49:10):
That's the thing. It's like we've been in the lab,
we've been in training camp, we have we had free
season two. Because the moment you start overthinking, you start
under delivering.
Speaker 2 (49:21):
Well here we are.
Speaker 5 (49:22):
Wow.
Speaker 4 (49:22):
Also, you might be doing that just come.
Speaker 3 (49:24):
From I don't know, but you that sounded, by the way,
that was very harbor asque very.
Speaker 4 (49:28):
Jim Harbough and I kind of Do you think that's
what we saw with arch Manning? Maybe?
Speaker 3 (49:34):
I mean it's a lot And this is something I
think we forget with college athletes all the time.
Speaker 2 (49:38):
They are children.
Speaker 3 (49:39):
Yeah, they are kids, no, and that I think we
do forget because so high profile and now obviously nil
there's so much money involved and there's so much pressure
on them, and they're on national television. But they are kids,
and I think it would be very difficult for Archmanning
in a lot of ways, not too under delivered today
(50:00):
with everything that he's had around him.
Speaker 4 (50:02):
But by the same token, this is what they are
built to do. So can I ask you another question
that's tangential.
Speaker 2 (50:11):
You can ask me about whenever you want.
Speaker 4 (50:14):
What are your thoughts as a woman. We are two
women hosting a sports show on men wearing men like
men with families, men adult men wearing jerseys with college
kids names on them.
Speaker 2 (50:34):
That is a fair question.
Speaker 4 (50:37):
I'm gonna get a Harby.
Speaker 3 (50:40):
You're gonna get let me tell you about this fun
times car. But I was hunting a turtle. That turtle
and then also Harva had the chickens.
Speaker 2 (50:50):
Don't forge about that?
Speaker 3 (50:51):
I would say, Actually, I have thoughts kind of generally
un men in jerseys, and then I feel like it's
kind of unfair because I wear jerseys and I know
I'm not a man, but like I wear them, I'll
but dazzle them, I'll do all the things. I think
because of what fandom is. I I think it's just
part of it. That's my feeling. I think it's just
(51:13):
part of it. It's funny that you say that too, though,
because I wear jerseys but college. I do have a
Bryce Underward shirt, but mainly because it was part of
like an NIL thing, and I was like, well, I'm
obviously supporting that, but I don't really wear player stuff.
(51:33):
I wear player like JJ McCarthy had an NIL think.
Speaker 2 (51:36):
Sure, yeah, I kill so.
Speaker 4 (51:37):
That I got that branding at that point, Yes, exactly,
but I don't wear jerseys for coultures.
Speaker 2 (51:42):
So you bring that.
Speaker 4 (51:42):
It's an interesting point the college. That's why I specified college. Yeah,
I think that's a very I think there's one thing
if it's like a very retro throwback legend of the game, like.
Speaker 2 (51:54):
Like if you're wearing a Harbow jersey, you're wearing a
Jim Harbor Mission Barry.
Speaker 4 (51:56):
Standard, like you know, as just just that are legends
of the game, and you're like, that's really like, that's
a cool artifact of the sport. I just I think
now with the way players are you know, treated online,
and like, you know, they the way people forget that
they're humans too, sometimes I just I feel a little
(52:20):
weird about No, I see, I get what you're saying.
I do.
Speaker 3 (52:23):
I totally get what you're saying. You know, it's actually
also funny about that. Well maybe not funny haha. But
a couple of years ago, it was the twenty twenty
two season, I wanted to be dazzle a JJ McCarthy jersey,
and for some reason I didn't, and I be dazzled
a sweatshirt instead, which by the way, I've never worn
again because I wore it against the the game of players.
Speaker 4 (52:43):
Of your male listeners. Can you explain what bedazzling entails.
Speaker 3 (52:47):
Yes, it's basically rhinestones all over everything. So like I've
an Otawi bedazzle jersey in which Dodgers his number and
his name are all.
Speaker 4 (52:55):
It just adds a little bit of glittering g a
lot a lot of a lot of glitter.
Speaker 3 (53:00):
I have a Yamamoto one, which is really amazing because
his name is so long, so it just like sparkles,
like you could use it as a flashlight.
Speaker 2 (53:07):
It's like pretty spectacular.
Speaker 4 (53:09):
We need to have a bedazzling in my time party
in two thousand percent.
Speaker 2 (53:13):
I think that is so necessary.
Speaker 3 (53:15):
But back to the original question, Uh, I get what
you're saying, and I I I.
Speaker 2 (53:21):
Understand your feelings about it.
Speaker 4 (53:22):
Thank you for hearing me out. I'm me.
Speaker 3 (53:25):
I was happy to hear you out, and I hope
everyone enjoyed the be dazzling lesson. Before we go to break,
I need to ask you, what is your way too
early super Bowl prediction?
Speaker 2 (53:34):
Game hasn't even played yet?
Speaker 4 (53:36):
Whoa whoa way too early? Can you get? Can you
go first? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (53:40):
Absolutely, I'm going Broncos rams. If Matthew Stafford is healthy.
I'm sorry, I didn't mean Broncos. Bill, I said Broncos
Bill's I was like, wow, not sorry, I didn't mean
Broncos because I were talking about earlier Bill's rams. If
Matthew Stafford is healthy, otherwise Bill's green.
Speaker 4 (53:55):
Bay Okay, Okay, Bill's all right, Oh okay, So if
Matthew Stafford's not okay, You're you're going for shock factor here, right,
all right.
Speaker 2 (54:04):
No, I really believe the Rams are going to Super Bowl.
Matthew Stafford's healthy.
Speaker 4 (54:08):
Okay, No, no, no, I mean I think Sean McVay
is the best coach in I mean I could No,
I'm gonna say it with my chest. Sean McVay is
the best coach in the NFL. Right now, I'll go,
you know, I'll go, Rams chiefs.
Speaker 8 (54:22):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (54:23):
I love that. There we go.
Speaker 3 (54:25):
All right, Well, let me ask you guys to not
go anywhere. Ooh ooh, I got that that. I took
that from you the portal. Yes, don't head into the portal.
We will be right back talking a little bit of baseball.
Speaker 2 (54:39):
This is Fox Sports Saturday.
Speaker 4 (54:43):

(55:04):
Bett MGM every Saturday and Sunday morning right here on
Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 3 (55:11):
We have been all football all the time. Today, going
to talk a little MLB. However, I'm going to bring
it back to football. Wisconsin's having a glow up this
right now.
Speaker 2 (55:21):
I'm going to big little up, tell me, tell me,
tell me more.
Speaker 3 (55:24):
Because you have Michael Parsons who's now joined the Green
Bit Packers, and you have the Milwaukee Brewers who are
playing like the team.
Speaker 4 (55:31):
Oh I thought you were going to talk about Wisconsin football. No, okay,
like no.
Speaker 3 (55:35):
That I'm the state, the state, the say of Wisconsin,
and there then two of their professional teams, So that
that was how I was signed. That But that's I
can see the confusion hundred percent there. So we have
the Brewers who are looking very good.
Speaker 4 (55:50):
Anyone's catching them for the number one seed in the
National League.
Speaker 3 (55:55):
But here is my question. Once the playoffs start, everything
is different. Can this Brewers team continue to play like this?
Speaker 4 (56:05):
You know, I don't know, because we've seen the Dodgers
crumble when you know with it's it's like you said,
everything tightens up in the playoffs. So but I like
it when the Brewers are deep in the postseason. Yeah,
so fun they've and they've been winning at a great clip,
so I think they have what it takes. Okay, that's fair.
Speaker 3 (56:27):
I would like to see them go deep in the postseason,
but not like that deep into the Okay. I would
be okay with them making it to the NLCS if
that if they were playing the Dodgers, even though they
have dominated the Dodgers this season. But I do think
it would potentially be different the playoffs. So that was
my State of Wisconsin glow up segment of the day.
But I think they're really I mean, they're having a
(56:48):
very good week over there, right right.
Speaker 4 (56:50):
I I well, we didn't. I think when we were
talking about the Micah Parsons trade in general early A
lot of criticism obviously on Jerry Jones and the way
they exit went down. But I think it's worth also
mentioning what this does for the Packers. Yes, it is organization, right, yeah.
(57:10):
And I mean last year the Packers went ohero and
six against the Lions, Eagles, and Vikings. It was just
like they've got the pieces, maybe one or two studs away,
and you add Mica to the mix, that's like two studs. Right.
So I guess you've covered your fair share of Packers games.
(57:34):
I have with being you know, on the forty nine
ers beat. Where do you think they go this year?
Speaker 3 (57:42):
Well, I do think the trade put them into super
Bowl contender. I don't know if super Bowl favorite yet, yeah,
but I think it put them into super Bowl contender.
And the reason I didn't necessarily have them there before
is they are in a very tough division. I also think,
I'm there are people who are going to come out
me for this, but I think Jordan Love is.
Speaker 2 (58:02):
A good quarterback.
Speaker 3 (58:03):
I find him to be very inconsistent and that is
why I didn't necessarily have them as true contenders before this.
I think Micah Parsons changes that. There are very few
players that defensive players who are true game changers. There
are not a lot of them. You see some of
the league. There are not that many defensive players that
(58:26):
you put out there and can totally change the game.
Speaker 2 (58:28):
Micah Parsons is one of those players well.
Speaker 4 (58:30):
And I also think you look at the way the
Packers are constructed. They're young, they're deep. They drafted Matthew
Golden and he's like he can be a true number
one wide receiver. And I just think if Love can
continue his development, if he can stay healthy, and this
(58:50):
team can back it up with wins. I honestly think
you could hear Love in an MVP conversation.
Speaker 2 (58:56):
WHOA, yeah, wow, I said it. You said you did
say it. Could you see Micah in an MVP?
Speaker 3 (59:03):
Well, I know it's always gonna be a quarterback, so
I guess it doesn't really if he comes.
Speaker 4 (59:07):
Out and plays with the vengeance what a great redemption
defensive Player of the Year. Yeah, yeah, that's that he's
even being you know mentioned, and you know, but I
hope he has a season worth remembering.
Speaker 2 (59:18):
I do too.
Speaker 3 (59:18):
I think if the Packers are now, I think gonna
be really fun to watch that they work for, but
even more fun to watch see how this plays out.
Speaker 2 (59:24):
I mean it changes the division.
Speaker 3 (59:26):
I mean that's what's like so cool about a player
like Micah and why there's so much criticism on Dallas
because a player has now come to a team and
it changes the division.
Speaker 4 (59:38):
Is that's such a good point.
Speaker 2 (59:40):
Yeah, the entire division.
Speaker 4 (59:41):
And you look at the way the NFL is stacking
right now, right you have like three contenders in the
a f C and then the NFC is just wide open.
So okay, as you look at the hierarchy of where
things stand in the NFC. Where would you see I mean,
we just talked about the and the Rams. Right if
(01:00:03):
if Matthew Stafford, Matthew Staffer Stafford is healthy, I'm like
sixty forty he's.
Speaker 3 (01:00:08):
Healthy, I'm saying. I'm like, I will say that. I
had been saying a couple times this offseason. Rams are
going to Super Bowl once the Matthew Staffords of I
would say, I think I'm going to go seventy thirty rest,
but I don't know.
Speaker 2 (01:00:22):
I know it's gonna it's it's iffy.
Speaker 3 (01:00:24):
I don't believe that we're hearing everything right, it's exactly
going on.
Speaker 2 (01:00:29):
But you know what, I'm actually sixty five thirty five.
Speaker 4 (01:00:31):
Okay, we're closed. Yeah, okay, so Rams up one who
goes below them? Let's give me like when you look
at the NFC contenders.
Speaker 3 (01:00:41):
Okay, if I look at the NFC cont and we
can tear it out too, you could put like a
group in the like top tier. I think we could
just I'm okay with contenders at this moment, with a
game never not everything played. I think your true contenders
are the Rams, the Vikings, the Eagles, the Lions, the Packers,
(01:01:02):
and I think those are your main contenders. If we
were going to do a Tier two, then I think
you could put San Francisco in that tier. I'm not
really sure who else is going in that Tier two
right now because I'm taking not playoff contenders like true
super Bowl contenders. But I think San Francisco is still
a little while away, So to me, those are the
(01:01:23):
main super Bowl contenders in the NFC.
Speaker 4 (01:01:27):
I have another question for you. Sorry, I'm I'm just
bursting with questions. And I spoke with Adam Kaplan about this.
When you talk about Brock Party and obviously he's a
paid man. Now he's not the best bargain in in
the NFL, but Chanahan very fully aware of what he
(01:01:48):
can do with Party. Does the expectation does the pressure
ramp up at all for Brock or? I mean, he
is who he is, but now he's not the bargain
wonder kid anymore.
Speaker 9 (01:02:01):
You know.
Speaker 3 (01:02:01):
I think with brocketts so interesting because for whatever reason
him being a seventh round pick, people just can't get
over like naturally, I think people just can't seem to
get over it because in my opinion, I think Brock
has shown it. Last year we maybe saw a little
bit of regression. But you know, bronckas said this too.
With everything that else said going on last year, he
was trying to do things that really maybe weren't what
(01:02:22):
he should be doing, and really really trying to press.
So I think he's shown it. I just don't know
that nationally he'll ever show enough. I even think if
they go with this discourse and did they go in
the Super Bowl, people say, well, you know, he had
Christian McCaffrey and George Gittle and whatever. So I don't know,
but I think he just has to be the Brock
Party that he's been, not so much the rock Perty
(01:02:43):
last year, but the Brock Party that he's been, and
do his thing because they do believe in him and
he can run that offense beautifully. And that's what I think.
No more, no more extra pressure. And I don't want
to put any extra pressure on the great.
Speaker 4 (01:02:59):
Martin just because he went to Michigan. It's the greatest
school in the world.
Speaker 2 (01:03:02):
But let's hear what he has to say.
Speaker 5 (01:03:04):
Oh, you know, Michigan are highly tiited freshman play. Yeah
they don't. They can't not beat out quinn yours.
Speaker 2 (01:03:11):
Yeah that's a fair point.
Speaker 5 (01:03:12):
Just sit there for two years.
Speaker 2 (01:03:14):
That's a very good point that you make. Sorry, our incubator, Yeah,
we don't do that.
Speaker 13 (01:03:18):
Yeah, arch MANI digget his third start first on the
road today a number one oh teen Texas opened on
the road at third ranked Ohios Date. The Buckeye is
victorious fourteen to seven. Texas offense couldn't get off the ground.
Ohio State forteen four different turnovers on downs. Two of
those were in the red zone. Arch Manning did throw
an interception. We'll also what a touchdown pass for what
(01:03:39):
it's worth. Jeremiah Smith, Ohios DA wide receiver had six
catches and forty three yards. So twenty fourth ranks Syracuse,
I'm sorry. Twenty fourth ranked Tennessee beat Syracuse forty five
to twenty six.
Speaker 5 (01:03:50):
Remember of Tennessee.
Speaker 13 (01:03:51):
Had all that issues with Nico Iam Maili Lava and
then his quarterback. Joey Aguilar started a quarterback today for
the volunteers. He was sixteen for twenty eight, two forty
seven and three touchdowns.
Speaker 5 (01:04:02):
Right now, the only game really in.
Speaker 13 (01:04:04):
Question as of at this moment, Florida State with a
seventeen to seven lead over eighth ranked Alabama Crimson Tide.
That game being played in Tallahassee. That's at the half.
They should be starting the third quarter any minute now.
The rest of these kinds of laffers. Indiana big over
Old Dominion right now twenty seven to seven with eleven
minutes left in the fourth quarter, Penn State with a
twenty seven to three lead over Nevada, thirteen minutes left
(01:04:26):
in the third, Georgia twenty four to nothing over Marshall
at the half, the Bulldogs, the fifth ranked team in
the nation, and the Iowa State Cyclones with a twenty
seven to seven lead over South Dakota twelve minutes left
in the third quarter, and on Big ten Network going
into the half, Oregon has a thirty eight to three
lead over Montana State. Thanks for coming out, Bobcats. Major
(01:04:47):
League Baseball, the Brewers and they're going to the bottom
of the ninth inning four to one over the Blue Jays.
Speaker 5 (01:04:53):
The Rays with a fort to nothing nearly over the.
Speaker 13 (01:04:55):
Nationals in the bottom of the sixth bottom of the
fourth of Marlins lead the Mets eight to five, and
the bottom of the fifth inning, the Pirates have a forty.
Speaker 5 (01:05:05):
Two lead over the Red Sox. And that is all
I got for you.
Speaker 4 (01:05:08):
Guys, hey, Mat Martin, what did Texas ever do to you?
Speaker 5 (01:05:12):
They didn't beat Ohio State today?
Speaker 2 (01:05:14):
Yep, right there.
Speaker 13 (01:05:15):
They didn't beat Ohio State today in a game in
which and you know, honestly, this is Davis Warren. We
all love him for not monthy, so he's done on
the football field. But through three quarters today, my whole
thought was Sheroan Moore gave me the book on how
to beat the Ohio State team and not playing a
good quarter when you don't have a quarterback, just run
(01:05:36):
the ball.
Speaker 5 (01:05:37):
Matt Patrician.
Speaker 13 (01:05:38):
You know he did lose a lot of weight, but
that pencil that emin his sheet was still there.
Speaker 8 (01:05:41):
That five yards of garry was still there. It was
still there and sucks like you know what, gotta throw.
Speaker 5 (01:05:48):
It, don't you know? His dad was a wide receiver.
Speaker 8 (01:05:51):
Guys, his dad was a wide receiver.
Speaker 2 (01:05:55):
Marten's right.
Speaker 4 (01:05:56):
I can't disagree with you.
Speaker 5 (01:05:58):
I'm just number one overall pick right there?
Speaker 2 (01:06:04):
All right, Martin, I feel you.
Speaker 8 (01:06:05):
I'll be back in body, go here, going to your Saints.

Speaker 7 (01:06:40):
Hi Tracy, how are you?
Speaker 4 (01:06:41):
I'm good?
Speaker 7 (01:06:42):
Who are you?
Speaker 4 (01:06:42):
Mike?
Speaker 1 (01:06:43):
Live in the dream. I can't complain at all, and
if I did complain, a lot of people would be
really disinterested. So here we are.
Speaker 2 (01:06:52):
I mean I would be there to hear it, but
maybe all.
Speaker 1 (01:06:55):
You would you I would.
Speaker 4 (01:06:56):
I don't like complaining. There you go. Life's too on
for complaints.
Speaker 1 (01:07:01):
Mike, There you go.
Speaker 2 (01:07:02):
Nicky would turn off for off button, on off button
and be like, we're done.
Speaker 4 (01:07:06):
Mike. We have talked. I'm jumping in here.
Speaker 3 (01:07:09):
We have talked a lot about micaeh Parsons on this
show today. You wrote a great story on everything that
went down.
Speaker 2 (01:07:17):
What are the vibes right now in the Dallas Cowboys organization?
Speaker 1 (01:07:22):
Uh? You know, it's interesting because the vibes have been
really good there, and I think in a way that
outsiders haven't really understood with Brian Schottenheimer, who on paper
was not an inspired hire and certainly didn't have other
head coaching options in recent years. But you know, it
(01:07:46):
is a guy who creates a good environment has gotten
pretty popular in that building over the last few years
being on Mike McCarthy's staff and kind of had people
feeling pretty good. So yeah, I think quietly the vibe
has been better inside the building then it has you know,
(01:08:06):
been commonly portrayed. On the other hand, vibe is often
dependent upon, uh, you know, the outcome of football games
once the game starts. And I've been doing this a
while and one thing I have learned is that game
changing players and really really good football players tend to
impact you know, the scoreboard a lot. So it's tough.
(01:08:29):
You know, when you when you hear Jerry Jones spin it,
now you know it's not a terrible spin. Like if
you just in a vacuum, if you said to me, look,
interior defensive linemen are probably undervalued right now in the NFL.
Edge rushers may be a little overvalued relative to the
way the game has changed a little with quarterbacks getting
(01:08:51):
the ball off so quickly, and you look at what
Jalen Carter did in that ram playoff game for Philadelphia.
You look at Aaron Donald. The market hasn't caught up
to that. And so if you told me in a vacuum, hey,
we think Kenny Clark's really good, you stole only on
the verge of thirty. We think he's going to bounce back.
Speaker 5 (01:09:10):
From this injury.
Speaker 1 (01:09:10):
We're getting two ones and we're paying less. I could
maybe go along with that, but first of all, you
should have decided that long ago if that's what you
really think. And the fact that they were offering a
bunch of money to Michael Parsons in the spring, albeit
unofficially because they didn't talk to his agent, which is
(01:09:32):
a whole other issue. You know that that tells me
that wasn't really the plan. And also, if you're going
to trade them, do it before this year's draft, when
you can use that capital for this season. If you're
truly all in, or you know, if you're eighty two
and you truly are desperate to win another Super Bowl,
(01:09:53):
as Jerry Jones says up and said he is, that
you don't do it now.
Speaker 4 (01:10:00):
Mike, so happy to have you join us. I just,
you know, I in your perspective of the league, and
I want to ask, what do you expect the trajectory
for Detroit to be this season? Because they, you know,
they had such a magical run then last year, I
think they didn't live up to the hype that everyone
(01:10:21):
had had built for them, And I guess, how do
you see them? How do you see them responding this year?
Speaker 1 (01:10:29):
You know, I'm really interested. It's a great question, and
I'll have you guys know that I booked the Lions
packers for week one before the trade. Wow, that so
often happens.
Speaker 4 (01:10:41):
I knew that. That's why the story.
Speaker 5 (01:10:44):
Comes to me.
Speaker 1 (01:10:45):
Yeah, I'm doing the whole division because then I'm going
to go to Chicago and do Bears Vikings j Yeah, yeah, exactly.
So a few good storylines, but you know it's all intertwined,
right with Ben Johnson in Chicago, that means he's not
in Detroit obviously, Aaron Glenn also having left, so you
look at both coordinators being gone and Dan Campbell, who
(01:11:08):
is a culture guy. You know, obviously it's such a
great job changing that culture and instilling a winning vibe
but you know, it is not known for his you know,
scheme overseeing, although you know, knowing Jared Goff as well
as I do, he actually says that's a little bit
scude that Dan Campbell is heavily involved in the offensive scheme.
(01:11:30):
Whatever the case, there's going to be a lot of wondering,
you know, without Ben Johnson especially, is that offense still
going to roll? And you know, so that's a question.
But I would just say that, first of all, they
came back from something tougher. They went to the NFC
Championship game and were killing the Niners. As Tracy does,
it wasn't just that they were up seventeen points. They
(01:11:53):
looked like they were, you know, going to steamroll the
forty nine ers. And then weird things happened. A ball stuff,
a face mask, a couple of weird fourth down calls
that didn't work out. Brock Party went out a heater
and they lost. And in the locker room, Dan Campbell,
who keeps it real with his players, actually said out loud,
(01:12:14):
you know the thing that's that's very true, which is, hey,
we may never be back in this situation again. And
you know, bless them for voicing something that a lot
of people wouldn't have. But to their credit, they not
only bounced back, but were, you know, an elite team
all season. So you look at what happened to them
(01:12:34):
on the injury side defensively, it just you know, they
kind of propped it up and they beat the Vikings
in that game at the end of the regular season
with the depleted defense, and at the time I thought, well,
maybe they're just getting it done with backups. I think
in retrospect, Sam Darnold obviously was in the middle of
a very rough, pivotal two game stretch, but once they
(01:12:57):
got into the playoffs against the Commanders, that got exposed
and Jade and Daniels making plays and there are other
issues too, But the way I see it is they
were good enough to win it last year if their
defense was remotely healthy, and it finally got exposed in
that playoff game. So every year is different. They still
have an elite offensive line on paper. Jared Goff is
(01:13:19):
still playing at a very high level.
Speaker 5 (01:13:21):
You know.
Speaker 1 (01:13:22):
Johnny Morton, the new coordinator, and Jared Goff seemed to
have a good connection from what we can tell so far,
and they've got obviously, you know, playmakers and really good
players on defense, including eight Hutchinson coming back. So I
want to believe. I want to be kind of upbeat
about the Lions going in, but it's a very tough
division that, by the way, just added Michael Parsons. So
(01:13:46):
we'll find out a lot very early, including next Sunday.
Speaker 2 (01:13:50):
You brought up the Commanders.
Speaker 3 (01:13:51):
I think it's another team that people are interested about
because obviously they came out last year's surprise a lot
of people. Jayden and Daniels had a heck of a season.
They just signed Terry McLaurin. What are you expecting to
see from them? Do you see them? You expect to
see them continue on this trajectory with there be a
sophomore slump for Daniels. I believe in them myself, but
there's been a lot of chatter about it.
Speaker 1 (01:14:12):
Yeah, I think the sophomore slump thing is a very real,
you know, thing to worry about, right, and even it's
all relative. You know, we look at CJ. Stroud and
if you actually go and look at the numbers where
they finished, you know what happened to the postseason. It
was pretty similar on paper to the year before, and
(01:14:32):
you know, Yeah, it wasn't quite as luminous, but you know,
Bobby Slowick went from presumptive head coach of the very
near future to dismissed at the end of the season
as off as the coordinator, and now Nick Kayley and
a new staff are trying to get it going in
year three. But you know, by that standard, it would
(01:14:54):
be hard to imagine Jadeen Daniels not being coming down
a little bit from what we saw last year, because
it was probably even more impressive than what CJ. Stroud
did the year before, which is, you know, both were anomalies.
So you know, I do know jade made a lot
of plays, you know, improvising and getting out of the pocket.
(01:15:15):
I do think people will adjust having had a whole
off season. He does seem to take a few too
many hits from what I can tell, which is not
unusual for a young quarterback. Joe Burrows certainly took a
lot of hits early on. But I worry about that.
I worry about, you know, opposing defenses adjusting. They did
(01:15:36):
juice up the offense on paper with Deebo Samuel and
Gott McLaurin paid, but you know, I do think that's
a real concern that it just went so well last
season that maybe just the natural course of things will
make it a little bit tougher in twenty twenty five.
Speaker 4 (01:15:54):
Mike, when it comes to revamping the Raiders, what.
Speaker 2 (01:15:59):
We all everyone of us?
Speaker 4 (01:16:01):
First of all, I just I grew up watching Pete
Carroll coach us and I fell in love with him, like,
you know, just a lovable character on the sidelines. But
I don't, I can't. I'm having a hard time envisioning
how he's you know, going to bring bring the winning
ways to this Raiders organization. What are you hearing from
(01:16:25):
from that franchise?
Speaker 1 (01:16:27):
Okay, well, I am a massive Pete Carroll fanily thank
great Seattle. What he did in Seattle was epic and
extensive and enduring, and I think there will be a
bump from Pete Carroll. I just think he's that good.
But uh, it is kind of a daunting task.
Speaker 5 (01:16:45):
You know.
Speaker 1 (01:16:45):
You look beyond Max Crosby on defense, and do you
see a lot of game changers. They did draft the
running back. Their top returning receiver is probably a three
masquerading as a one in Myers who wants be traded?
You know, he's doing pretty well, but they don't jump
out at you in terms of weapons other than the
(01:17:08):
rookie running back, and brought Bauers, who obviously had a
really good rookie year. Gino's that, you know, with weapons
in a good situation can be pretty good. I don't
know that he is, you know, the type of person
who can carry a team. And they payed Chip Kelly
six million dollars a year to be the oppositive cordator,
(01:17:30):
which is the most ever in football, I believe, and Tracy,
I'm not sure if they watched Chip Kelly's team in
a certain game last season that didn't go so well
for Chip Kelly's offense. He was going up against Winke Martindale,
a great defensive coordinator for the Wolverines, and obviously players
(01:17:54):
big plays, but schematically it didn't look like Chip was
sitting in the world on fires. So maybe they would
have paid him nine million if game hadn't existed, or
maybe they should just give Wig martin Dale some of
the money. All I know is what I've heard is
that it's been a little bit of an adjustment in
terms of Chip Kelly's offensive installation and executing his vision
(01:18:18):
and so I'm not convinced that the offense is gonna
come roaring out of the gate. And as I said,
beyond Max Prosby, that defense doesn't on paper. Let's get
a lot of people. So the short answer, all right.
Speaker 3 (01:18:32):
Mike, we are we are about out of time, but
much will be discovered next week.
Speaker 1 (01:18:37):
A bump still be a Peet Carol bump, but it's
probably not going.
Speaker 4 (01:18:40):
To be enough.
Speaker 3 (01:18:41):
All right, much Mike, Thank you, Mike, loved having you on,
and you guys, we will be back with your feel
good stories of the week.
Speaker 2 (01:18:46):
This is Fox Sports Saturday.
Speaker 3 (01:18:50):
We are coming to you live from the Fox Sports
Radio studios, ending the show the way we always do,
and that is with our feel good stories of the week.
Speaker 2 (01:19:01):
I am going to start with one.
Speaker 3 (01:19:02):
We've talked a lot about Micah Parsons, but we haven't
talked about this. After signing his record contract with the Packers,
he's retiring his mom.
Speaker 2 (01:19:11):
She never has to work again, and it is just.
Speaker 3 (01:19:14):
I mean, when you watch the video thinking about it
in Gay Little Tiery, it is so sweet and so
special and I think this is the part we've talked
so much about the football of it all, and this
is the other part of it, the human part of
it that means so much.
Speaker 4 (01:19:26):
This is why we play and my feel good story
of the week. I know we're short on time or
else I'd add more comment. But Taylor Townsend at the
US Open, she had a little you know, meeting at
the net with us to Panco, a dispute over a
very niche tennis rule about not saying sorry for something.
(01:19:47):
It was just pretty pretty silly. But it was to
Panco what amplified it was after she said some pretty
harsh comments, say towards Taylor, But anyways, the whole trajectory
of town and Send's career. She was supposed to be
an overnight sensation. It didn't necessarily meet the moment, and
it's she's finally getting the attention and playing, you know,
(01:20:09):
to the level. So excited to see how she carries
on at the US Open this next week.
Speaker 2 (01:20:14):
I love that.
Speaker 4 (01:20:15):
I love that I have another one.
Speaker 3 (01:20:17):
We also talked about Bryce Underwood, but you love to
see this quarterback Bryce Underwood. His officially licensed NIL jerseys
are now available and he is donating proceeds towards youth
programs in Detroit, and he made a comment about wanting
to giving back to the city that raised him.
Speaker 2 (01:20:34):
And I think you know that story and the Mica story.
Speaker 3 (01:20:38):
A lot of money in sports, a lot of talk
about nil, a lot of talk about contracts, and it's
really nice to see what people.
Speaker 4 (01:20:45):
Can do when they get today grounded in the right
place and intention awesome.
Speaker 3 (01:20:51):
Yes, football is back, you guys, and that is the
biggest feel good of story of the week we could have.
Speaker 2 (01:20:56):
There is football from now until very like February.
Speaker 4 (01:21:01):
We're rolling, baby, we are rolling.
Speaker 3 (01:21:05):
I did not ask you this real quick before we go.
What game are you most excited to watch this weekend?
Speaker 4 (01:21:10):
UCLA and Utah taking center stage, an old school or
kind of new age pack twelve after dark, eight pm
and the Rose Bowl. Who spooky things are gonna happen.
Speaker 3 (01:21:20):
I feel like I love it, you guys. Thanks for
joining us today. It has been a lot of fun.
Happy football to all who observe
