and Chiefs. Great game Eagles and Cowboys was a lot
better game than I believe many thoughts. We got a
(01:13):
great show plan. We're gonna talk about the Clippers and
what's going on in the NBA and what they got
going like Bill Belichick back to trip and I know
it's just a better time.
Speaker 3 (01:24):
So we'll get into all of that. Man.

Speaker 5 (01:54):
Man, I can says sit in your voice, how good
the wather is in California when you get on the microphone. Man,
So I already knew that you guys had clears.
Speaker 3 (02:02):
Guys.
Speaker 5 (02:02):
Man, it's been a great last few weeks for us,
you know, weatherwise, up and down with the you know,
the heat and the humidity.
Speaker 3 (02:11):
Human.
Speaker 5 (02:11):
But we're going to have a great, uh Saturday. I
will be in a tennis at the US Open. So
it's a great Saturday.
Speaker 3 (02:19):
Man.
Speaker 5 (02:20):
And here from from today on to February, every single
weekend we will have football, college or NFL, whatever you prefer.
We will be able to sit down wherever we are
and enjoy a lot of football games moving forward. So man,
(02:42):
you know it's our favorite time of the year.
Speaker 3 (02:44):
Yeah, there's nothing like it.
Speaker 4 (02:45):
And as if you guys haven't realized and figured that out,
I'm sorry about that little far As.
Speaker 3 (02:51):
He's at Penn State hoping.
Speaker 4 (02:53):
Uh his nick knee Lions can get a victory, so
he won't be with us this morning. But me and
mister Burris gonna handle this and we're gonna have a
great show in the process. So we're gonna get right
into it. Man, going into the season. And I don't
know if we discussed this, but I have said this
and I want to put that out there, not just
(03:14):
because of last night. I felt like the Chargers this
was a Chargers year to win the AFC West.
Speaker 3 (03:23):
I said it.
Speaker 4 (03:24):
I've been vocaling that the Chiefs have won the AFC
West nine years in a row, and I felt like
this was the year it was gonna come to an end.
Because Horrball in his second season anywhere, specifically when he
was with the San Francisco forty nine Ers is magic.
(03:45):
And so the way that that game went yesterday, I
was like, Okay, they're gonna run the ball, No, not pass, Oh,
they gonna run it this Uh no, no, And they
came out they wasn't playing. They was like, Okay, we
done gave Herbert all this money. He not just gonna
turn around and hand this ball off. And so between
the Chargers and the Denver Broncos, it's just gonna be
(04:09):
hard for the Chiefs to win ten consecutive division titles.
Speaker 3 (04:13):
I felt like this will be the Chargers year. So
we'll see. It's just one game, but I like what
I saw.
Speaker 4 (04:20):
What about the game surprised you or just the posuits
and negatives each way because we can say, oh, we
think the Chargers gonna win. Are we starting to see
the Chiefs kind of slip a little bit and not
be as dominant as we've become. A custom sining man,
I knew exactly where you was going with this week,
(04:42):
started this whole Justin and Herbert conversation. But I disagree
with you.
Speaker 5 (04:46):
I'm looking at this game, and obviously you know, Justin Herbert,
he played well last night, three hundred and eighteen yards
twenty four for thirty eight, whatever the percentage was, but.
Speaker 3 (04:58):
He played great.
Speaker 5 (05:00):
But I look at him a Kansas City standpoint, No
was she rice he will be back and when they
play again in December, no Xavier Worthy, So they weren't
one hundred.
Speaker 3 (05:12):
Percent The Chargers were at full capacity.
Speaker 5 (05:16):
But outside of that, man, it was so many things
to unpacked from this football game from a detailed standpoint.
And mind you, the Chargers had the number one scoring
defense in the league last year at seventeen points.
Speaker 3 (05:32):
So what's wrong with the Chargers moving forward?
Speaker 5 (05:36):
If they had the number one defense in the league
last year and scoring giving up seventeen points, then why
weren't they able to score seventeen points? So it all
comes back was last year. It all comes down to
Justin Herbert. It all comes What I'm saying is this,
there were a lot of detailed things in this football
game that you know about, and when they when the
(06:00):
Chargers were going, when the Chiefs were going in the
halftime and they needed this field goal, and they were
able to get this football team out on the field
in eleven seconds and going to to halftime and being
able to.
Speaker 3 (06:13):
Get those three points.
Speaker 5 (06:15):
You know, every coach in the NFL today is showing
this clip to their team because this is how you
get a fire drill, get on the field, get some
points and going to halftime. But those are the things
that help you win football game. But then on the
flip side of it, when the Chargers needed to play
(06:37):
on third down, the Chargers secondaries in man and man,
and what does Chris Jones do?
Speaker 3 (06:43):
He was selfish.
Speaker 5 (06:44):
He went inside to try to make a play and
there was no contain when Justin.
Speaker 3 (06:48):
Herbert got outside of the pocket and you.
Speaker 5 (06:51):
Saw him tranquil and Justin and Chris Jones going at it.
And that's what I love about it, holding every body accountable.
I don't care who you are, do your job. And
Chris Jones did not do his job when I play.
He went inside and there was no help when Justin
Herbert got outside of the pocket. And I'm just talking
(07:12):
about the detailed things of this football game. And lastly,
I don't know why this dude, TIERR. Tart was not
kicked out of a football game. So now we are
judging if a player slaps another player, if it's an
open hand or it's always it's always proves.
Speaker 3 (07:38):
Whether it's going to be objection or not. So now
we are going.
Speaker 5 (07:41):
To be replaying slaps to the helmet to other players
to see if the hand is open or closed. I mean,
that is one of the most ridiculous rules I have
ever heard of that the NFL has imposed when it
comes to being a personal foul or being kicked out
(08:02):
of the football game.
Speaker 3 (08:04):
And lastly, if he get kicks out of.
Speaker 5 (08:07):
That football game, he doesn't make that play that the
ball lit tip on the third down they go to
Travis Kelce. But I thought it was a great game.
I think it was the best football game that I've
seen Justin Herbert play as a professional. But for the
Chargers to keep usending and they keep getting better, he's
going to have to play that way all throughout the year,
(08:28):
and we know how that goes. But the Chiefs will
be at full strength come December when they meet again.
And the Chargers, they just they scare me. When you're
talking about they're going to win the AFC West, I
just don't see them, you know, being able to go
out and win thirteen to fourteen games in this conference
(08:51):
in the.
Speaker 4 (08:51):
Division hardball second year is magic, and so I'm rolling
with it. I'm not backing down from that. The Chargers,
Herbert had so much time to throw the ball. Offensive
line was fantastic for the Chargers. He was sitting back
in the pocket like, I'm like, wow, did Rashawn Slater
(09:13):
not just get hurt? And the offensive line is still
blocking and pass protecting this way, So kudos to the
Chargers offensive line. They ran the ball effectively. It wasn't great,
but they ran the ball effectively. Targets from lab McConkie
to keenan Allen, Lab McConkie, Keen Allen, Quentin Johnson all
(09:35):
about the same. So he's mixing the ball in there,
getting his tight ends involved. When you look at the
way the Chargers played defensively, I was like, Wow, it
was really good. Gave Mahomes some time, but Mahomes is Mahomes.
But I'm gonna say this, when you go on the
flip side of Kansas City. Defensively, they got gashed in
(09:55):
the passing game. They had no answers for what the
Chargers were doing in the passing and I felt like
in the second half, I don't know if you notice it,
Spags was like, all right, we're gonna come up, Manimal,
We just gonna man him up. He started playing a
ton of man the man because it felt like in
the zone the Chargers had a they were just getting
too many easy yards in his own defense.
Speaker 3 (10:16):
So he just like, all right, we're gonna man him up.
You know you got that guy?
Speaker 5 (10:20):
Yeah, washing his office man's kind of remembering this, and
he kind of took me back to the Indianapolis coach
because I don't believe. I don't I don't recall a
quarterback right now that's playing in the NFL that is
under center as much as Justin Herbert is and they're
running a lot of stretch zones. He's pulling the ball.
But they had play action because you know it's the
(10:42):
play action when when they get under center, that's when
he's dangerous.
Speaker 3 (10:47):
Yes, they really don't run the ball a lot. You
got run though.
Speaker 4 (10:51):
They ran the ball more than anybody last year, and
they came into this game like they know this. But
when you look at the Chiefs, this is what concerned me.
Patrick Mahons the leading rusher by thirty yards, the leading
Patrick Mahomes the leading rusher by thirty yards. They got
to fix that. That's number one. Number two is how
(11:13):
the hell Hollywood Brown get sixteen targets. Hollywood Brown had
sixteen targets.
Speaker 3 (11:25):
I have no idea.
Speaker 4 (11:26):
The next closest was Juju Smith Schuster with five sixteen
targets of Hollywood Brown five to Juju. Now you could
that may be something that they want to do. Hollywood Brown,
he's gonna have to do better than ten for ninety
nine with sixteen targets.
Speaker 5 (11:45):
They came out and said the pretty much going into
the first game of the season, this this offensive game
plan was going to be wrapping around Xaviel World.
Speaker 3 (11:54):
And he did go down early. He went He went down.
Speaker 5 (11:57):
Early them offensively when you when you have a game
plan wrapped around one individual. So I think that kind
of hindled the offense a lot.
Speaker 4 (12:07):
In the show, It's gonna be interesting because I believe
the fear and the respect that the Chiefs had. Mahomes
has the ball out there and they're gonna go score that.
They always have found a way to win when it mattered,
and you know they wanted that game. It's divisional opponent,
(12:28):
they want to make a statement. It's opening weekend. They
plan and Brazil what YadA, YadA, YadA.
Speaker 3 (12:33):
I'm not worried about Kansas.
Speaker 4 (12:35):
Justin Herbert, he showed something last night. He showed some
last night getting that first down. I mean, Justin Herbert, Well,
it's about time. He is about time and not because
it's about time. He has a coach now that's putting
in advantageous situations.
Speaker 3 (12:54):
That's what it is.
Speaker 4 (12:54):
He is a coach now that's putting him in these
situations to be successful. He's not hindering, he's helping them.
And that's a huge difference. I've always said it coaching
in the NFL matters. But it's only week one. We're
not gonna get too excited. But you'd rather have a
W than have an L. It's so I looked at
it from that perspective. I like what I saw at
(13:17):
the Chargers. If they can stay healthy, they gonna be
a problem. They are going to be a problem because
if you don't respect the run with Greg Roman and
his creativity in the run game, you are in trouble.
But time will tell. Time will tell. So you still
like the Chiefs. I like to win the division absolutely well.
(13:41):
It looks like I'll be right again if.
Speaker 5 (13:43):
The Chargers are the best team in the AFC West.
After that game last night, I'm taking a candacy the
Chiefs to win the division because because they have to
be great to be You thought they were great, chief
You thought they were great.
Speaker 3 (13:58):
They they had over a hundred penalty yards. They had over.
Speaker 5 (14:03):
Professional game that Jorge that that Justin Herbert has ever had.
Speaker 3 (14:07):
No, no, no, no.
Speaker 4 (14:08):
It just seemed like you just assume, no, no, no, no,
he's played better games than that. He's played better games
than that. He's played better game when it mad at
the most. I mean, because you guys are going, guys
are going to the playoffs and looking at the last
year's playoff game, he threw more interceptions in one game.
Speaker 5 (14:23):
And we have nothing else to judge him, all of you,
we have nothing else to judge him off as what
from what he has showed us it last year, in
the previous years.
Speaker 3 (14:35):
That's what I'm going off. One night. One night is
not going to do it for me.
Speaker 4 (14:41):
The young man has improved and he has a great
coaching staff that has helped him improve.
Speaker 5 (14:50):
Ken I didn't even know that Kenny that was in charges.
So if Key Louise and Ben Johnson was so good,
then why is keenan Allen back in the back in.
Speaker 4 (14:59):
The lo the Bears in wanting they drafted Luther Burt.
Speaker 3 (15:02):
He just signed. He just signed a couple of weeks ago.
I didn't know that.
Speaker 4 (15:06):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, he just signed a couple of weeks ago.
You know, you don't get this la news out here.
We get it, uh, we get it a little regular.
Speaker 5 (15:13):
I mean they was efficient. King Allen was making plays.
Quentin Johnson was the number one wide receiving with the
draft Board a couple of years ago. Yeah, he struggled
with some drops over the past two years. He still
could have caught another touchdown that he hit that he
got his hands on. He should have had three. But
good for him. He's coming into his own. So justin
(15:34):
Herbert has all the weapons in the world moving forward
and security black back in Keenan Allen, So it should.
Speaker 4 (15:41):
Be a good youth for hey man, we need to
get our boy, Cuffs and you know you see him
tapping in right now in our little group text. He
putting it out there. Herbert is the best quarterback in
the AMC West. Chalk it up that this coming from Cups.
I'm speaking for him because he ain't speaking for himself. Hey,
but we must admit, we must admit he looked great
(16:04):
a and you know what Cuffs just called him.
Speaker 3 (16:07):
He looked good, baby Marino. Y'all, y'all, let hey.
Speaker 5 (16:12):
Man that's sunshine from the from the from the Remember
the Titans. Man, come on, hey, y'all, y'all just let
that seek in. We were gonna take a break when
we come back. Like I said, we got the Cowboys,
the football game, and the incident that happened in the
football game. We're gonna really get in that discussion. We
got a lot. Thank y'all for tuning in. Y'all stay

(20:02):
takes you don't like. Just search Fox What's Ready on
YouTube and subscribe. Stay with the NFL man Thursday night,
Opening Call It Weekend. But Opening Night Eagles beat the Cowboys,
and I was I was surprised, man, the way the
(20:23):
Cowboys looked. The Cowboys did not look bad to me.
I was impressed. I felt like they surprisingly on offense,
moved the ball with ease. They really didn't have a
problem moving the ball against Eagles. Ceedee Lamb had a
great game, but he had a bad game. It's kind
of already dropped so many it's very rare the National
(20:45):
Football League.
Speaker 3 (20:45):
Week as receivers, we gonna drop ball.
Speaker 5 (20:48):
We had a great game, but a bad game. I
don't think I've ever heard that rhetoric of day in
my life.
Speaker 4 (20:53):
Think about that, he made some plays, but play as
receivers were gonna drop balls. That's a fact. But four
balls in one game is almost crazy. I don't know
if you very rarely see a receiver in the National
Football League drop four balls in one game, very rarely,
Like I can't recall just seeing one guy, not just
(21:16):
one guy, one of the better receivers in football dropped
four balls in one game. And two of those balls
may put you in a position to win the game.
What do you mean, may will You're probably gonna win it,
And so that, I don't know if you want to
(21:38):
put the Eagles down or get a Cowboys credit for
just playing an extremely good game considering all the drama
for the Micah Parsons and this and that. But before
the game gets started, Jalen Carter spits on Dak Prescott and.
Speaker 3 (21:54):
I want to touch on that. You know it's gonna
take it some time. Can we go to.
Speaker 4 (21:59):
Holo get dates because I want to make sure Illo
gets his just due before we get to talking about this.
Speaker 6 (22:07):
Well, good afternoon. Let's get to the college football scoreboard
and start with Levar's Penn State Nitney Lions, because just
moments ago they took a seven nothing lead over Florida
International with three minutes and fifty four seconds left to
play in the first quarter. On a nine yard touchdown
pass from Drew Aller to Khalil Dinkins.
Speaker 3 (22:29):
Loose said, come on now, Loose come.
Speaker 6 (22:37):
That's how it sounded after the touchdown. Elsewhere, Number seven
Texas and San Jose State are scoreless midway through the
first quarter.
Speaker 1 (22:45):
Duke has a.
Speaker 6 (22:46):
Three to nothing lead over eleventh ranked Illinois with six
forty one to play in the opening period. Fourteenth ranks
Florida State out to a seven to nothing lead over
East Texas A and M midway through the first quarter.
Sixteenth ranc Iowa State up three nothing over Iowa midway
through the first quarter, seventeenth ranked SMU with a ten
to nothing lead over Baylor with seven minutes left to
(23:06):
the first quarter. Number twenty four Texas Tech already out
to a twenty one to nothing lead over Kent State
in the first quarter, and number twenty three Indiana of
seven to nothing over Kennesaw State with five minutes to
go in the opening period. Former Major League Baseball manager
Davey Johnson has passed away at the age of eighty two.
Johnson managed the New York Ment to the nineteen eighty
(23:29):
six World Series title. Here he was moments after their
Game seven victory over the Boston Red Sox. Well, that's
what this game is all about.
Speaker 3 (23:36):
You can never take anything for granted. Strange things happen.
You just keep plugging away, and.
Speaker 1 (23:40):
It happened for us.
Speaker 3 (23:41):
We deserve it.
Speaker 1 (23:42):
We had the best record baseball.
Speaker 3 (23:43):
We should be the world champs.
Speaker 6 (23:44):
Johnson also managed the reds Orioles, Dodgers, and Nationals. As
a player, he was a four time All Star second
baseman and won two more World titles with Baltimore. Finally,
Hockey Hall of Fame goaltender Ken Dryden has passed away
at the age of seventy eight. Dryden won six Stanley
Cups with the Montreal Canadians during the nineteen seventies. He
(24:05):
later wrote perhaps the most renowned hockey book ever the game.
He even served as the color analyst with Al Michaels
for the telecast of the Miracle on Ice at the
nineteen eighty Winter Olympics. In today's Major League Baseball, action
gets under way just after the top of the hour
as the New York Yankees host the Toronto Blue Jays,
and on that note, get loose.
Speaker 1 (24:27):
It's all yours.
Speaker 4 (24:30):
So yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, appreciate you. I love Let's
get into the game. But more important, let's get in
to what happened before the game with Jalen Carter spitting
on Dak Prescott.
Speaker 3 (24:42):
Two things. Has that ever happened in you plex. I've
never been in.
Speaker 5 (24:47):
This situation where a player has spit on me, and
I've never, you know.
Speaker 3 (24:54):
Consciously, just.
Speaker 5 (24:57):
Had a deliberate act to just spit on another player.
I've had some interactions, some very heated interactions with guys
and been ejected out of football games, but not ever
in my life have I thought about spitting on another player.
Because because where I'm from Man. My mom always told me, man,
(25:19):
spitting on somebody or being spat on is one of
the most disrespectful things you can never do to somebody.
Speaker 4 (25:26):
So me personally, I've had it happen to me In
the game NFL game, I'm not even gonna say who
it is unless unless you want to know who it is,
and I'll tell you. We're playing. Game was over, they
had the onside kick it. I recover the on side
kick and he hits me like he hits me late.
Speaker 3 (25:47):
After the ref blows the whistle.
Speaker 4 (25:49):
So I get up and I hit him back, and
we having words, and he spit on me. But I
didn't know he I didn't know he actually spit on me.
So I go back to the huddle because you know,
we about to take a knee, and you know, when
you and victory formation, you know to how the receivers
behind the quarterback, right, So I go behind a quarterback
(26:11):
and I get back in a huddle and were about
to take a knee and Willie Anderson says to me,
what's that on your face?
Speaker 3 (26:19):
And I'm like, oh my god, this bleep, bleep, bleep blee.
Speaker 4 (26:23):
Okay, so I wipe it off my face and we
take a knee again, and I run over there and
hit him again and I get a penalty. Now Marvin
Lewis is mad at me. He takes me out the game.
So the game ends. I'm hot, I strap my helmet up,
I buckle it up, and I sprint across the field.
When the game ends, like because he's he starts to
(26:45):
jog to the tunnel because you know, he know I'm coming.
He jogged to the tunnel, So I try to go
on the tunnel after him, because you know, we go,
you go your separas. When the game is they go
that way, we go this way. They wouldn't let me go,
and so I go to the locker room. I take
my cleats off, I put my tennis shoes on, I
got my game pands on, no shoulder pads, just my undershirt,
(27:09):
my tennis shoes, and I sit outside the locker room
for like thirty minutes. He would not come out unless
they got different exits, he would not come out. So
then team security come gets me from the Bengals and
was like, hey, we gotta go the whole team.
Speaker 3 (27:24):
Damn. There was already on the bus waiting on me.
So I still had the.
Speaker 4 (27:27):
Shower and all, Like, when I tell you, it made
me so so angry. Never saw the player again after
that incident because of circumstances. But when I tell you,
is what you said, it's the most disrespectful thing you
(27:49):
can do. But in defense of Jalen Carter, if there
can be any defense of Jalen Carter. When we first
saw that, we thought Jalen Carter was at fault, and
he is. You got to be able to control yourself.
But the way Dak Prescott spit in his direction and
then the it's the look on Dak's face. You seen
(28:12):
that little look on Dak's face. Yeah, that look on
that dude, Dak Prescott instigated that. I don't care what
nobody say. That look on Dak prescott face was like, yeah, boy,
that was coming for you.
Speaker 3 (28:26):
Like that look was like.
Speaker 4 (28:29):
It just kind of just struck me, like, wait, that
really trying to cause something here? And so Jyalen Carter
he didn't have his composure, but I felt like Dak
instigated that. But that kind of clouded the game. I
thought the Cowboys played well. I thought Dak Prescott played well.
CD lone makes those catches. It may be a different outcome.
(28:54):
Jalen Hurts played extremely well, but I know one thing
that needs to happen. I don't care that the Eagles won't.
They need to get Aj Brown the ball or trade them.
They need to get him the ball or trade them.
There's no damn weigh in hell. He gets one target
with a minute and fifty left in the game. That's
(29:14):
incompetence as a quarterback. That's incompetent as an office of coordinator.
You cannot do that. You want guys to be engaged.
You don't give a guy thirty plus million dollars and
he's out on the field like decoration, just standing there,
and then he handles it like a pro. You have
to be able to get your best guys the football.
(29:36):
Jennen Hurst can't be running the ball fifteen sixteen times
a game. Get your guys the football. Get Aj Brown
the football early. Get say Kwan Barkley the ball early.
He's gonna get it early anyway. Get Devonte Smith the
ball early. Now they're engaged to have Aj Brown get
one target with under two minutes left in the game.
Speaker 3 (29:57):
Come on, man, out of blue moth, top out of
the bro.
Speaker 4 (30:01):
I get it after the first quarter, you like, hey,
what's going on. After the first half, halftime, you're like, damn,
they ain't throw me a ball. Third quarter and it's
a close game. It ain't like y'all blowing them out.
It's a close gaming. You probably play Harry part if
you and people go, oh, they just shows you, Uh,
(30:21):
they don't need them. If he's not in the on
the field in any game, they put more guys in
the box. They shutting something else down. And so all
this talk about this, this and that, get rid of
them and then see what happened.
Speaker 3 (30:33):
Get rid of them and see what happened.
Speaker 4 (30:35):
Then all you people that talking receivers don't matter, and
get rid of them and see what happened. But all
in all, the Cowboys really did surprise me less. The
Eagles aren't as good as I thought they would be.
Speaker 5 (30:46):
I mean, listen, if you site any Cowboys went out
and played well and they were still lost his football game.
I think that's the alarming part of the whole thing,
because I don't think the Eagles play well at all.
I mean, you say, one buckle On has sixty yard
Russian davalantae Smith three catches for sixteen yard. Aj Brown
won catch for eight yards, and Johann Dahnson is your
(31:09):
leading wide is your leading receiver with fifty nine and
they still manage to get out of there and win
the football game. So what do you say to yourself
for here? The Dallas Cowboys, the Philadelphia Eagles are going
to play better, and Jalen Hurts only had nineteen completions
and are still able to win the football game against
(31:29):
the Dallas Cowboys. That's what that's what we should be
looking at because even though it was the first game
of the year, they're going to get better. Jalen Carter
didn't play the football game either. The defense is going
to play better. And I'm just saying, just like you said, man,
the incompetence of Nick Sirianni, Kevin Petulo and Jalen Hurts
(31:53):
to be in a close football game and to not
for it not to come to the forefront of your
place or your place sheet and say, you know what,
we have to get Aj Brown of football right now.
That's what I don't like about what happened in the
game on Thursday. And with Devonte Smith, they're one of
(32:16):
the top five duos in all of football. You just
came off of us of a Super Bowl World championship,
and these guys were very instrumental in your success. And
still you wonder you win the game twenty four to
twenty and nothing goes off your antennas. Don't go up
and say, you know what, we need to get these
(32:38):
young men to football all because they give us the
best chance to win. And if I'm Countabatola, I'm saying
to myself, well, I don't know when you went back
and watch that film. I know everybody is totally immersed
into the game and you know, calling plays and trying
to put your players in the best position to succeeed
and go out and win. But that's inexcusable to me
(33:02):
to have to throw four total footballs to two of
the best wide receivers in the league and you're pretty
pretty much in a space to scrambling to win this
football game.
Speaker 3 (33:15):
CD had just.
Speaker 4 (33:16):
As many drops as they had targets combined exactly, and
getting over the CD.
Speaker 5 (33:22):
It all goes back to rust the young He hasn't
played since last year, and we always talk about this
preseason and not getting reps in the preseason.
Speaker 3 (33:32):
The last route that Cede.
Speaker 5 (33:34):
Lamb ran was last January on the football field in
a game setting, practicing is not enough.
Speaker 3 (33:41):
And the rush.
Speaker 5 (33:42):
Showed and the balls that those footballs that he dropped,
he catches ten out of ten times. But being the
fact that they haven't been on the football field, they
haven't had any game speed reps. That's what I attribute
the performance that Ceedee Lamb had because if these guys
(34:04):
are getting preseason and getting getting reps, I believe Ceedee
Lamb makes those players in the Dallas Cowboys winning that
football game. And that's what it came down to. You
said he had a great game, but a bad game.
And we just had this conversation last week whether Cede
Lamb was considered an elite wide receiver even though he
(34:24):
had one hundred yards the other the other night, he
was an elite And if you're Dallas Cowboys, where was
George Pickens at for catches thirty yards? He's supposed to
be a one A, one B option for Dak Prescott
and it looked like he wasn't even involved in the
game plan. So if I'm Brian shot and Hummer and
(34:46):
the Dallas Cowboys, you say to yourself, man, we played
a hell of a football game. We all most won
the game, but the but the Philadelphia Eagles.
Speaker 3 (34:58):
Offensively, he didn't play well at all. I don't know
what to make of it.
Speaker 4 (35:02):
I don't know if the Eagles are good or the
Cowboys is or the Eagles are not as good as
we think, or the Cowboys are better than what we
expect them to be. I don't know what to think.
I really don't that because that that that Eagles.
Speaker 3 (35:15):
Team, well it's a divisional loss.
Speaker 4 (35:18):
It hurts that Eagles team that I saw Thursday night.
If they don't improve, they will not be back in
the super Bowl. They won't be back in the super Bowl. No,
I'm not going that far. So it won't be if
they don't improve. If they played the way they played,
they will the super Bowl. Offensively, they were terrible Defensively,
they couldn't stop the run. They couldn't stop the Cowboys
(35:40):
from running the ball.
Speaker 5 (35:41):
Well, Jayleen Jayen Carter wasn't the Jallen Carlos was in
the locker room.
Speaker 3 (35:45):
He one of the best d tackles on football.
Speaker 5 (35:48):
He ain't a locker room the guy that the guy
that's backing up Jayleen Carter.
Speaker 3 (35:53):
He didn't even know he was gonna play.
Speaker 4 (35:57):
Hey man, it is this week one, so there's still
a lot a lot of football.
Speaker 3 (36:02):
Left, but we're gonna get into a lot more when
we come back.
Speaker 4 (36:10):
I really want to talk about this Clippers and Kawhi
Leonard thing, but we're gonna get into that later on
in the show in the next hour.
Speaker 3 (36:19):

Welcome back in up on Game.
Speaker 4 (38:06):
I'm TJ Houshim's out alongside mister Plexico Burris first hour
man is going by really fast.
Speaker 3 (38:12):
We're gonna get right into it.
Speaker 4 (38:15):
Christian McCaffrey last year, after playing in only four games.
He played in four games last year, looked like he
was gonna play, and then it.
Speaker 3 (38:24):
Was, oh, he have a calf problem. This is last season.
Speaker 4 (38:31):
His calf is a little he's giving him problems, end
up missing the first eight games, come back, plays in
four games, and ends up tearing his PCL. I believe
it was in his right knee. And just before the
week one, Now what does he have calf problem? He
(38:51):
may or may not play. His first season with the Niners,
he was available, played in every game, put up great numbers,
great stats. Was a big reason the Niners had a
great year. But in previous years when he when he
was in Carolina with the Panthers, he was he was
hurt a lot. Are we starting to see the wear
(39:13):
and tear on Christian McCaffrey coming is just the beginning
of the end? Uh?
Speaker 5 (39:20):
I said this last year, you just don't miss the
first eight games of the season if it's not if
it's not a very significant injury. And even when he
came back, he didn't look like the player that he
was a year before. And we saw the Buffalo game. Uh,
the injury that he sustained with with his cav and
(39:43):
and now we're we're right back at the same you
know juncture, you know, going into this season.
Speaker 3 (39:50):
I've said this several times.
Speaker 5 (39:52):
I believe, I know for a fact that the San
Francisco forty nine ers win window for winning the World
Championship that has closed. And that's one of the reasons
why they brought in Singletary from from Washington, because they
know they knew that Christ McCaffrey has Arian Robinson.
Speaker 3 (40:11):
Brian Robinson.
Speaker 5 (40:11):
I'm sorry, Brian Robinson having some some injury issues moving forward,
and I just don't think that he's going to get
back two one hundred percent. And uh, you know, it
really hurts him offensively because already you don't have Brandon
Ayuk and you no longer to have a debo s anual,
so you were looking, you were dependent on McCaffrey to
(40:32):
come into the season healthy to help, you know, still
help brock perty develop. He's a part of his development.
But I think offensively, if you're a Shanahan, Uh, right now,
nobody knows the extent of his injury because they won't
really come out and say exactly what it is.
Speaker 3 (40:55):
But I believe if he misses.
Speaker 5 (40:57):
You know, four five, six games, I don't believe that
the Sam Francisco forty nineers will have a winning record
this season.
Speaker 4 (41:05):
Because they don't have an Ayu, they don't have a
de ball.
Speaker 3 (41:12):
Where do they?
Speaker 4 (41:13):
Is it all Kittle or do you trust that Shannonhan
can figure this out because he's one of the best
offensive minds in football.
Speaker 3 (41:20):
I want to say this. Everybody knew.
Speaker 5 (41:23):
Everybody saw brock Party, you know, you know, come of
age a couple of years ago, when this when they
had this great offense. You know, he had all these
weapons around him. But I believe that the departure of
Brendan And and Deebo Samuel and now you don't have
a healthy Christian McCaffrey, you're gonna have to lean on Kittle.
(41:44):
And even though he got this huge contract, I believe
he's going to start to see that some of the
deficiencies that brock Party has as a quarterback moving forward
because he no longer has those weapons to lean on.
Speaker 4 (41:59):
It's gonna be interesting because you gotta understand, Juwan Jennies
is quote unquote been out. He won a new deal,
he's been out. Ricky Piersaw, how is he gonna be
didn't play much as a Rocky last year and so
they have a lot to figure out. Brian Robinson, he's
been the lead dog. He could be able to carry it,
(42:20):
but he's not Christian McCaffrey like as far as the
passing game. So it will be interesting. But this is
why Shanahan earns the big bucks. He has to figure
out a way to make this work, and I believe
he will. First hour is over, we will be getting
ready for y'all this. Oh, we got a lot to
talk about this next hour with the Clippers Fox Sworts Radio.
Speaker 3 (42:39):
That's Plexico Buris. I'm TJ. Houshmazada will be right back.
