because of last night. I felt like the Chargers this
was a Chargers year to win the AFC West.

I've been vocaling that the Chiefs have won the AFC
West nine years in a row, and I felt like
this was the year it was gonna come to an end.
Because Horrball in his second season anywhere, specifically when he
was with the San Francisco forty nine Ers is magic.

And so the way that that game went yesterday, I
was like, Okay, they're gonna run the ball, No, not pass, Oh,
they gonna run it this Uh no, no, And they
came out they wasn't playing. They was like, Okay, we
done gave Herbert all this money. He not just gonna
turn around and hand this ball off. And so between
the Chargers and the Denver Broncos, it's just gonna be

hard for the Chiefs to win ten consecutive division titles.

I felt like this will be the Chargers year. So
we'll see. It's just one game, but I like what
I saw.

What about the game surprised you or just the posuits
and negatives each way because we can say, oh, we
think the Chargers gonna win. Are we starting to see
the Chiefs kind of slip a little bit and not

I'm looking at this game, and obviously you know, Justin Herbert,

But I look at him a Kansas City standpoint, No
was she rice he will be back and when they
play again in December, no Xavier Worthy, So they weren't

But outside of that, man, it was so many things
to unpacked from this football game from a detailed standpoint.
And mind you, the Chargers had the number one scoring
defense in the league last year at seventeen points.

So what's wrong with the Chargers moving forward?

If they had the number one defense in the league
last year and scoring giving up seventeen points, then why
weren't they able to score seventeen points? So it all
comes back was last year. It all comes down to
Justin Herbert. It all comes What I'm saying is this,
there were a lot of detailed things in this football
game that you know about, and when they when the

Chargers were going, when the Chiefs were going in the
halftime and they needed this field goal, and they were
able to get this football team out on the field
in eleven seconds and going to to halftime and being
able to.

You know, every coach in the NFL today is showing
this clip to their team because this is how you
get a fire drill, get on the field, get some
points and going to halftime. But those are the things
that help you win football game. But then on the
flip side of it, when the Chargers needed to play

on third down, the Chargers secondaries in man and man,
and what does Chris Jones do?

He was selfish.

He went inside to try to make a play and
there was no contain when Justin.

Herbert got outside of the pocket and you.

Saw him tranquil and Justin and Chris Jones going at it.
And that's what I love about it, holding every body accountable.
I don't care who you are, do your job. And
Chris Jones did not do his job when I play.
He went inside and there was no help when Justin
Herbert got outside of the pocket. And I'm just talking

about the detailed things of this football game. And lastly,
I don't know why this dude, TIERR. Tart was not
kicked out of a football game. So now we are
judging if a player slaps another player, if it's an
open hand or it's always it's always proves.

I think it was the best football game that I've
seen Justin Herbert play as a professional. But for the
Chargers to keep usending and they keep getting better, he's
going to have to play that way all throughout the year,

and we know how that goes. But the Chiefs will
be at full strength come December when they meet again.
And the Chargers, they just they scare me. When you're
talking about they're going to win the AFC West, I
just don't see them, you know, being able to go
out and win thirteen to fourteen games in this conference

Division hardball second year is magic, and so I'm rolling
with it. I'm not backing down from that. The Chargers,
Herbert had so much time to throw the ball. Offensive
line was fantastic for the Chargers. He was sitting back
in the pocket like, I'm like, wow, did Rashawn Slater

not just get hurt? And the offensive line is still
blocking and pass protecting this way, So kudos to the
Chargers offensive line. They ran the ball effectively. It wasn't great,
but they ran the ball effectively. Targets from lab McConkie
to keenan Allen, Lab McConkie, Keen Allen, Quentin Johnson all

about the same. So he's mixing the ball in there,
getting his tight ends involved. When you look at the
way the Chargers played defensively, I was like, Wow, it
was really good. Gave Mahomes some time, but Mahomes is Mahomes.
But I'm gonna say this, when you go on the
flip side of Kansas City. Defensively, they got gashed in

the passing game. They had no answers for what the
Chargers were doing in the passing and I felt like
in the second half, I don't know if you notice it,
Spags was like, all right, we're gonna come up, Manimal,
We just gonna man him up. He started playing a
ton of man the man because it felt like in
the zone the Chargers had a they were just getting
too many easy yards in his own defense.

So he just like, all right, we're gonna man him up.

Yeah, washing his office man's kind of remembering this, and
he kind of took me back to the Indianapolis coach
because I don't believe. I don't I don't recall a
quarterback right now that's playing in the NFL that is
under center as much as Justin Herbert is and they're
running a lot of stretch zones. He's pulling the ball.
But they had play action because you know it's the

he's dangerous.

to fix that. That's number one. Number two is how

the hell Hollywood Brown get sixteen targets. Hollywood Brown had
sixteen targets.

The next closest was Juju Smith Schuster with five sixteen
targets of Hollywood Brown five to Juju. Now you could
that may be something that they want to do. Hollywood Brown,
he's gonna have to do better than ten for ninety

They came out and said the pretty much going into
the first game of the season, this this offensive game
plan was going to be wrapping around Xaviel World.

Justin Herbert, he showed something last night. He showed some

it's about time. He is about time and not because

He is a coach now that's putting him in these
situations to be successful. He's not hindering, he's helping them.
And that's a huge difference. I've always said it coaching
in the NFL matters. But it's only week one. We're

it from that perspective. I like what I saw at

the Chargers. If they can stay healthy, they gonna be
a problem. They are going to be a problem because
if you don't respect the run with Greg Roman and
his creativity in the run game, you are in trouble.
But time will tell. Time will tell. So you still
like the Chiefs. I like to win the division absolutely well.

Chiefs to win the division because because they have to

in my life have I thought about spitting on another player.

the most disrespectful things you can never do to somebody.

So me personally, I've had it happen to me In
the game NFL game, I'm not even gonna say who
it is unless unless you want to know who it is,
and I'll tell you. We're playing. Game was over, they
had the onside kick it. I recover the on side
kick and he hits me like he hits me late.

After the ref blows the whistle.

So I get up and I hit him back, and
we having words, and he spit on me. But I
didn't know he I didn't know he actually spit on me.
So I go back to the huddle because you know,

and I get back in a huddle and were about
to take a knee and Willie Anderson says to me,

Shower and all, Like, when I tell you, it made
me so so angry. Never saw the player again after
that incident because of circumstances. But when I tell you,

can do. But in defense of Jalen Carter, if there
can be any defense of Jalen Carter. When we first
saw that, we thought Jalen Carter was at fault, and
he is. You got to be able to control yourself.
But the way Dak Prescott spit in his direction and

that little look on Dak's face. Yeah, that look on
that dude, Dak Prescott instigated that. I don't care what
nobody say. That look on Dak prescott face was like, yeah, boy,
that was coming for you.

really trying to cause something here? And so Jyalen Carter
he didn't have his composure, but I felt like Dak

Jalen Hurts played extremely well, but I know one thing
that needs to happen. I don't care that the Eagles won't.
They need to get Aj Brown the ball or trade them.
They need to get him the ball or trade them.
There's no damn weigh in hell. He gets one target
with a minute and fifty left in the game. That's

incompetence as a quarterback. That's incompetent as an office of coordinator.
You cannot do that. You want guys to be engaged.
You don't give a guy thirty plus million dollars and
he's out on the field like decoration, just standing there,

to be able to get your best guys the football.

Jennen Hurst can't be running the ball fifteen sixteen times
a game. Get your guys the football. Get Aj Brown
the football early. Get say Kwan Barkley the ball early.
He's gonna get it early anyway. Get Devonte Smith the

one target with under two minutes left in the game.

looking at because even though it was the first game
of the year, they're going to get better. Jalen Carter
didn't play the football game either. The defense is going
to play better. And I'm just saying, just like you said, man,

to be in a close football game and to not
for it not to come to the forefront of your
place or your place sheet and say, you know what,
we have to get Aj Brown of football right now.
That's what I don't like about what happened in the
game on Thursday. And with Devonte Smith, they're one of

the top five duos in all of football. You just
came off of us of a Super Bowl World championship,
and these guys were very instrumental in your success. And
still you wonder you win the game twenty four to
twenty and nothing goes off your antennas. Don't go up

to myself, well, I don't know when you went back

to have to throw four total footballs to two of
the best wide receivers in the league and you're pretty
pretty much in a space to scrambling to win this
football game.

said he had a great game, but a bad game.
And we just had this conversation last week whether Cede
Lamb was considered an elite wide receiver even though he

had one hundred yards the other the other night, he
was an elite And if you're Dallas Cowboys, where was
George Pickens at for catches thirty yards? He's supposed to
be a one A, one B option for Dak Prescott
and it looked like he wasn't even involved in the

the Dallas Cowboys, you say to yourself, man, we played
a hell of a football game. We all most won

great stats. Was a big reason the Niners had a
great year. But in previous years when he when he
was in Carolina with the Panthers, he was he was

was like, Okay, they're gonna run the ball, No, not pass, Oh,
they gonna run it this Uh no, no, And they
came out they wasn't playing. They was like, Okay, we
done gave Herbert all this money. He not just gonna
turn around and hand this ball off. And so between
the Chargers and the Denver Broncos, it's just gonna be

hard for the Chiefs to win ten consecutive division titles.

I felt like this will be the Chargers year. So
we'll see. It's just one game, but I like what
I saw.

What about the game surprised you or just the posuits

think the Chargers gonna win. Are we starting to see
the Chiefs kind of slip a little bit and not

I'm looking at this game, and obviously you know, Justin Herbert,

But I look at him a Kansas City standpoint, No
was she rice he will be back and when they

to unpacked from this football game from a detailed standpoint.
And mind you, the Chargers had the number one scoring

If they had the number one defense in the league
last year and scoring giving up seventeen points, then why
weren't they able to score seventeen points? So it all
comes back was last year. It all comes down to

there were a lot of detailed things in this football
game that you know about, and when they when the

Chargers were going, when the Chiefs were going in the
halftime and they needed this field goal, and they were
able to get this football team out on the field
in eleven seconds and going to to halftime and being
able to.

You know, every coach in the NFL today is showing
this clip to their team because this is how you
get a fire drill, get on the field, get some
points and going to halftime. But those are the things
that help you win football game. But then on the
flip side of it, when the Chargers needed to play

on third down, the Chargers secondaries in man and man,
and what does Chris Jones do?

He was selfish.

He went inside to try to make a play and
there was no contain when Justin.

Herbert got outside of the pocket and you.

Saw him tranquil and Justin and Chris Jones going at it.
And that's what I love about it, holding every body accountable.
I don't care who you are, do your job. And
Chris Jones did not do his job when I play.
He went inside and there was no help when Justin
Herbert got outside of the pocket. And I'm just talking

about the detailed things of this football game. And lastly,
I don't know why this dude, TIERR. Tart was not
kicked out of a football game. So now we are
judging if a player slaps another player, if it's an
open hand or it's always it's always proves.

Whether it's going to be objection or not. So now

To be replaying slaps to the helmet to other players
to see if the hand is open or closed. I mean,
that is one of the most ridiculous rules I have

I think it was the best football game that I've

Chargers to keep usending and they keep getting better, he's
going to have to play that way all throughout the year,

and we know how that goes. But the Chiefs will
be at full strength come December when they meet again.
And the Chargers, they just they scare me. When you're
talking about they're going to win the AFC West, I
just don't see them, you know, being able to go
out and win thirteen to fourteen games in this conference

Division hardball second year is magic, and so I'm rolling
with it. I'm not backing down from that. The Chargers,
Herbert had so much time to throw the ball. Offensive
line was fantastic for the Chargers. He was sitting back
in the pocket like, I'm like, wow, did Rashawn Slater

not just get hurt? And the offensive line is still
blocking and pass protecting this way, So kudos to the
Chargers offensive line. They ran the ball effectively. It wasn't great,
but they ran the ball effectively. Targets from lab McConkie
to keenan Allen, Lab McConkie, Keen Allen, Quentin Johnson all

about the same. So he's mixing the ball in there,
getting his tight ends involved. When you look at the
way the Chargers played defensively, I was like, Wow, it
was really good. Gave Mahomes some time, but Mahomes is Mahomes.
But I'm gonna say this, when you go on the
flip side of Kansas City. Defensively, they got gashed in

the passing game. They had no answers for what the
Chargers were doing in the passing and I felt like
in the second half, I don't know if you notice it,
Spags was like, all right, we're gonna come up, Manimal,
We just gonna man him up. He started playing a
ton of man the man because it felt like in
the zone the Chargers had a they were just getting
too many easy yards in his own defense.

So he just like, all right, we're gonna man him up.

Yeah, washing his office man's kind of remembering this, and
he kind of took me back to the Indianapolis coach
because I don't believe. I don't I don't recall a
quarterback right now that's playing in the NFL that is
under center as much as Justin Herbert is and they're
running a lot of stretch zones. He's pulling the ball.
But they had play action because you know it's the

play action when when they get under center, that's when
he's dangerous.

Yes, they really don't run the ball a lot. You

They ran the ball more than anybody last year, and
they came into this game like they know this. But
when you look at the Chiefs, this is what concerned me.
Patrick Mahons the leading rusher by thirty yards, the leading
Patrick Mahomes the leading rusher by thirty yards. They got
to fix that. That's number one. Number two is how

the hell Hollywood Brown get sixteen targets. Hollywood Brown had
sixteen targets.

I have no idea.

The next closest was Juju Smith Schuster with five sixteen
targets of Hollywood Brown five to Juju. Now you could
that may be something that they want to do. Hollywood Brown,
he's gonna have to do better than ten for ninety
nine with sixteen targets.

They came out and said the pretty much going into
the first game of the season, this this offensive game
plan was going to be wrapping around Xaviel World.

And he did go down early. He went He went down.

Early them offensively when you when you have a game
plan wrapped around one individual. So I think that kind
of hindled the offense a lot.

the fear and the respect that the Chiefs had. Mahomes
has the ball out there and they're gonna go score that.
They always have found a way to win when it mattered,
and you know they wanted that game. It's divisional opponent,

in my life have I thought about spitting on another player.

spitting on somebody or being spat on is one of
the most disrespectful things you can never do to somebody.

So me personally, I've had it happen to me In
the game NFL game, I'm not even gonna say who
it is unless unless you want to know who it is,
and I'll tell you. We're playing. Game was over, they
had the onside kick it. I recover the on side
kick and he hits me like he hits me late.

After the ref blows the whistle.

So I get up and I hit him back, and
we having words, and he spit on me. But I
didn't know he I didn't know he actually spit on me.
So I go back to the huddle because you know,
we about to take a knee, and you know, when
you and victory formation, you know to how the receivers
behind the quarterback, right, So I go behind a quarterback

and I get back in a huddle and were about
to take a knee and Willie Anderson says to me,
what's that on your face?

And I'm like, oh my god, this bleep, bleep, bleep blee.

Okay, so I wipe it off my face and we
take a knee again, and I run over there and
hit him again and I get a penalty. Now Marvin

So the game ends. I'm hot, I strap my helmet up,
I buckle it up, and I sprint across the field.
When the game ends, like because he's he starts to

jog to the tunnel because you know, he know I'm coming.
He jogged to the tunnel, So I try to go
on the tunnel after him, because you know, we go,
you go your separas. When the game is they go
that way, we go this way. They wouldn't let me go,
and so I go to the locker room. I take
my cleats off, I put my tennis shoes on, I
got my game pands on, no shoulder pads, just my undershirt,

my tennis shoes, and I sit outside the locker room
for like thirty minutes. He would not come out unless
they got different exits, he would not come out. So
then team security come gets me from the Bengals and
was like, hey, we gotta go the whole team.

Damn. There was already on the bus waiting on me.
So I still had the.

Shower and all, Like, when I tell you, it made
me so so angry. Never saw the player again after
that incident because of circumstances. But when I tell you,
is what you said, it's the most disrespectful thing you

can do. But in defense of Jalen Carter, if there
can be any defense of Jalen Carter. When we first
saw that, we thought Jalen Carter was at fault, and
he is. You got to be able to control yourself.
But the way Dak Prescott spit in his direction and
then the it's the look on Dak's face. You seen

that little look on Dak's face. Yeah, that look on
that dude, Dak Prescott instigated that. I don't care what
nobody say. That look on Dak prescott face was like, yeah, boy,
that was coming for you.

It just kind of just struck me, like, wait, that
really trying to cause something here? And so Jyalen Carter
he didn't have his composure, but I felt like Dak
instigated that. But that kind of clouded the game. I
thought the Cowboys played well. I thought Dak Prescott played well.
CD lone makes those catches. It may be a different outcome.

Jalen Hurts played extremely well, but I know one thing
that needs to happen. I don't care that the Eagles won't.
They need to get Aj Brown the ball or trade them.
They need to get him the ball or trade them.
There's no damn weigh in hell. He gets one target
with a minute and fifty left in the game. That's

incompetence as a quarterback. That's incompetent as an office of coordinator.
You cannot do that. You want guys to be engaged.
You don't give a guy thirty plus million dollars and
he's out on the field like decoration, just standing there,
and then he handles it like a pro. You have
to be able to get your best guys the football.

Jennen Hurst can't be running the ball fifteen sixteen times
a game. Get your guys the football. Get Aj Brown
the football early. Get say Kwan Barkley the ball early.
He's gonna get it early anyway. Get Devonte Smith the
ball early. Now they're engaged to have Aj Brown get
one target with under two minutes left in the game.

I get it after the first quarter, you like, hey,

I think that's the alarming part of the whole thing,
because I don't think the Eagles play well at all.

they still manage to get out of there and win
the football game. So what do you say to yourself
for here? The Dallas Cowboys, the Philadelphia Eagles are going
to play better, and Jalen Hurts only had nineteen completions

the Dallas Cowboys. That's what that's what we should be
looking at because even though it was the first game
of the year, they're going to get better. Jalen Carter
didn't play the football game either. The defense is going
to play better. And I'm just saying, just like you said, man,
the incompetence of Nick Sirianni, Kevin Petulo and Jalen Hurts

to be in a close football game and to not
for it not to come to the forefront of your
place or your place sheet and say, you know what,
we have to get Aj Brown of football right now.
That's what I don't like about what happened in the
game on Thursday. And with Devonte Smith, they're one of

the top five duos in all of football. You just
came off of us of a Super Bowl World championship,
and these guys were very instrumental in your success. And
still you wonder you win the game twenty four to
twenty and nothing goes off your antennas. Don't go up
and say, you know what, we need to get these

best chance to win. And if I'm Countabatola, I'm saying
to myself, well, I don't know when you went back
and watch that film. I know everybody is totally immersed
into the game and you know, calling plays and trying
to put your players in the best position to succeeed

to have to throw four total footballs to two of
the best wide receivers in the league and you're pretty
pretty much in a space to scrambling to win this
football game.

Lamb makes those players in the Dallas Cowboys winning that
football game. And that's what it came down to. You
said he had a great game, but a bad game.
And we just had this conversation last week whether Cede
Lamb was considered an elite wide receiver even though he

had one hundred yards the other the other night, he
was an elite And if you're Dallas Cowboys, where was
George Pickens at for catches thirty yards? He's supposed to
be a one A, one B option for Dak Prescott
and it looked like he wasn't even involved in the

the Dallas Cowboys, you say to yourself, man, we played
a hell of a football game. We all most won
the game, but the but the Philadelphia Eagles.

I'm sorry, Brian Robinson having some some injury issues moving forward,
and I just don't think that he's going to get
back two one hundred percent. And uh, you know, it
really hurts him offensively because already you don't have Brandon
Ayuk and you no longer to have a debo s anual,
so you were looking, you were dependent on McCaffrey to

come into the season healthy to help, you know, still
help brock perty develop. He's a part of his development.
But I think offensively, if you're a Shanahan, Uh, right now,
nobody knows the extent of his injury because they won't
really come out and say exactly what it is.

But I believe if he misses.

You know, four five, six games, I don't believe that
the Sam Francisco forty nineers will have a winning record
this season.

Because they don't have an Ayu, they don't have a
de ball.

Is it all Kittle or do you trust that Shannonhan
can figure this out because he's one of the best
offensive minds in football.

I want to say this. Everybody knew.

Everybody saw brock Party, you know, you know, come of
age a couple of years ago, when this when they
had this great offense. You know, he had all these
weapons around him. But I believe that the departure of
Brendan And and Deebo Samuel and now you don't have
a healthy Christian McCaffrey, you're gonna have to lean on Kittle.
(41:44):
And even though he got this huge contract, I believe
he's going to start to see that some of the
deficiencies that brock Party has as a quarterback moving forward
because he no longer has those weapons to lean on.
Speaker 4 (41:59):
It's gonna be interesting because you gotta understand, Juwan Jennies
is quote unquote been out. He won a new deal,
he's been out. Ricky Piersaw, how is he gonna be
didn't play much as a Rocky last year and so
they have a lot to figure out. Brian Robinson, he's
been the lead dog. He could be able to carry it,

but he's not Christian McCaffrey like as far as the
passing game. So it will be interesting. But this is
why Shanahan earns the big bucks. He has to figure
out a way to make this work, and I believe
