I'm just bringing the viewers into how grown men in
the locker room, Like I don't play with some dude
that you disrespect them anyway, it didn't matter who it
was they was putting hands on you.
Speaker 1 (00:28):
And Blackxico Burres, they.
Speaker 4 (00:30):
Are the same person, the same exact quarterback.
Speaker 1 (00:34):
It's a show with three and the best to ever
do it on and off the field, and nine live
from the Fox Sports Radio studios. Here's pro bowlers LeVar
aring Tent, TJ. Hushman, Zanna and Silver Bowl champion Blaxico Burres.
Speaker 5 (00:55):
All right, welcome into the show.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
It is our two.
Speaker 5 (00:59):
You know, my feel are always hurt when we get
to the end of the intro of the show and
they say, and now LaVar Arrington, t J. Hushman's Ada
and super Bowl champ Plexico Burds, which you are super
Bowl champ. But god dang, bro, that's crazy. We're not
(01:22):
super Bowl champs. TJ. And it hurt.
Speaker 3 (01:25):
And I didn't even get to the super Bowl.
Speaker 5 (01:29):
For Super Bowl yeah, and the one that teach Plexico won.
I was supposed to be on that team. It hurts
really bad.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
It hurts really bad.
Speaker 5 (01:38):
But good hey, but you know what, good day to
you super Bowl champs, Stretch Armstrong, Plexico Burds. You know
we're going to bring in another champ. He didn't win
the super Bowl, but he is. He is winning out
here as an NBA insider and and one who has
perspectives on what's going on on the NBA. So welcome
(01:59):
into the show. This is Up on Game. It is
Plexico Burst, the super Bowl champ. It is TJ Hutchman,
Zada and LeVar Arrington here and you know what, it's
our two. So it's also this guy. When you hear
this music, you know what comes next.
Speaker 1 (02:15):
Now it's time to check in with Cuffs, the legend
from some dude show podcast on Up on Game presents,
Cuffs is giving you a spicy takes. What's going down
the heat like Lebron and now here's Cuffs the legend.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
It's cold time.
Speaker 6 (02:36):
Legend.
Speaker 5 (02:39):
All right, all right, it's that time I wonder Now,
I mean it is cuffs. The legend is that is
that self proclaimed cuffs or did your mama give you
that nickname? Like where to come from? Man?
Speaker 6 (02:49):
Oh no, I'm not a super Bowl champion.
Speaker 2 (02:52):
You know.
Speaker 6 (02:52):
I didn't win a Super Bowl or NBA championship, but
I am my high school's all time leading scorer. All oh, here.
Speaker 5 (03:03):
You had to play defense if they call you cuffs.
Speaker 6 (03:06):
I played a little d in high school. I moved,
but I'm not going to lie. You know I was.
I was thirty points, you know, four or five rebounds,
six assist. But my crowning achievement, I'm a four time
Church League NBP.
Speaker 5 (03:27):
It'd be some serious It'd be some serious competition in
them church leagues. Now, don't get the gym smell a
little a little nasty, but otherwise it'd be cool.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
He was giving them a white glove service.
Speaker 5 (03:39):
Up.
Speaker 6 (03:39):
I tell you a funny story, real quent lebar my
last year playing church league basketball. Here's how competitive church
league basketball is. I got a technical foul in a
church league games for cutting out the referees during the
church league games. That's how serious it is.
Speaker 5 (03:58):
That's cold blooded to becauses about out in the church lead.
Speaker 6 (04:02):
But look, hey, that was my game seven man, and
we hear Sunday Man as.
Speaker 5 (04:07):
A great segue. Let's talk about it. What are we thinking,
fellas man?
Speaker 7 (04:15):
Game six?
Speaker 6 (04:16):
I went to bed after Game six and I felt
like I played basketball that night. I woke up next morning,
woke up Friday morning. I wish we could do the
show Friday morning. That's how That's how happy I was
as an NBA fan, Like, outside of everything else, everybody
had so much to say. It was so much whining
and complaining about this series going into it, about the
(04:37):
small markets or the ratings are going to be low,
and this has been. I can honestly say this has
been the best NBA Finals I've seen since probably twenty
sixteen Caves and Warriors and Lebron came back from three
to one, and and the Warriors live to us. This
is the best finals I've seen since then.
Speaker 7 (04:55):
I really think so.
Speaker 6 (04:55):
Like it's beautiful basketball, both teams ten or eleven d
the role players are contributing to the games. Like it's
the best finals I've seen it. And like I said
it said twenty sixteen, I don't know if y'all.
Speaker 7 (05:08):
Agree with that.
Speaker 2 (05:10):
The final it's a the competitiveness of it.
Speaker 3 (05:14):
Obviously a game seven, first game seven and how many years,
but it's.
Speaker 5 (05:19):
Because it's nine years. Nine years has been since there's
been a Game seven, but.
Speaker 3 (05:24):
It's because of the small markets. The ratings haven't been
what I'm sure the NBA would like, but the competition
of it, it's been fantastic to get a game seven.
And honestly, if this was on a neutral court, I
think ninety percent of people would probably pick the Pacers.
(05:44):
But Oklahoma City at home and the way Indiana has
done it, you have so many guys scoring.
Speaker 2 (05:53):
TJ.
Speaker 3 (05:53):
McConnell playing well, Obie Topping playing well, Mattherin playing well,
Siakam playing well and playing well, Nie Smith, Nimbar like,
you have.
Speaker 2 (06:03):
So many guys that you can name with the Pacers.
Speaker 3 (06:07):
This is a complete team effort when it comes to
the Pacers, and we haven't seen this in the NBA
in a long time.
Speaker 4 (06:16):
Man, What I took from the game the other day, Man,
the one thing that really concerns me. You know, it
concerned me the other day watching Game six, but going
into Game seven, it just kind of seemed like to
me that the Oklahoma City was just and just like
playing at this lethargic pace from an effort standpoint, and
(06:41):
that worries me about them, you know, going into this
game seven, even though they're.
Speaker 2 (06:47):
Playing at home.
Speaker 4 (06:47):
They they sent me the message, as you know what,
there's no way y'all gonna beat us at home on
a game seven. We're gonna take the night off, not
go out and give our best effort to win the
win the World Championship in the game six because we
know that we're gonna win a game seven on our
home floor. Let me tell you something, there's no guarantee
(07:11):
that the Oklahoma City Thunder is gonna win this game tomorrow.
And from from based off of what I saw.
Speaker 2 (07:21):
Defensively, what Rick Carlile was able to do, just S G.
Speaker 4 (07:25):
A and and uh Jayalen Williams, they should be worried
because I really think that he's gonna unveil a defensive
strategy on S G. A and Jalen Williams that he's
been holding holding the ace in his back pocket this
whole time, and say I got something really special that
(07:46):
these guys haven't seen from a defensive standpoint that's really
going to mess them up. And I really think that
They're still a young team. If they don't see these
shots go down and build some confidence early, you could
see the untangling of this group on a national stage,
(08:11):
because I think that they are so confident at home,
they don't believe that they can lose. But being on
this stage, if you don't get that confidence early and
see some shots go down, now in the back of
your mind, you're thinking, man, there's a possibility that we
can lose this basketball game.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
And now everybody gets tight. I've seen it happen. It's
very possible.
Speaker 4 (08:39):
But if they don't get off to a good start,
I'm telling you tomorrow, Okay, see thunder better watch out?
Speaker 7 (08:45):
Hey bang good. Piggyback on your point. You know what
it feels like.
Speaker 6 (08:49):
Remember the twenty sixteen Finals in Game six in Cleveland
when when Lebron and the cast they snatched the Warrior
soul in that game, they ran them out of the gym,
and you remember that infamous locker room Mama where Lebron said,
you know they f'd up, they messed up. You know,
they messed up mentally. That's a good point because I
know Okac was not sleeping well on that flight back
(09:11):
to Okac from any They couldn't have been they couldn't
have slept well that the last couple of nights. So
the question I asked is which Miles Turner is going
to show up though everybody else.
Speaker 7 (09:24):
Djavis, that's a.
Speaker 2 (09:25):
Great he's played well defensively.
Speaker 5 (09:29):
But if he gives them an offense problem, yes he is.
Speaker 6 (09:33):
I see mouth Turner show up because these games where
he's having two or three rebounds, three points, nine points,
like these games he's having like it's he's an unrestricted
free agent after.
Speaker 7 (09:45):
This series is over this summer.
Speaker 6 (09:47):
So I feel like, out of everybody on the on
both teams, the guy that I'm looking at who I
feel like can tip the scale, especially for the pacers,
the bitch players, the role players, the blue guys, they've
all they've all shown up. But Miles Turner is a
seven foot six eleven seven foot big man, athletic. He's
shown the flashes all playoffs. He's the he's the longest
(10:10):
tenured pacer, longest t Yeah, he's the longest tenured pacer
on this team. This is I feel like, if he
can give you fifteen let's say he give you fifteen
and eight tomorrow or sixteen and ten. I feel like
the Pacers walk away as world champions. Yep, Miles Turner
shows up.
Speaker 2 (10:27):
Man.
Speaker 4 (10:28):
For the first three series of this of this NBA
for the Indiana Pacers, Man Miles Turner was that stretch
five that was giving everybody problems and.
Speaker 2 (10:38):
Knicks series he couldn't miss.
Speaker 4 (10:40):
But it just seems for some reason, I've been saying
that for the last two or three games, you are
exactly all right.
Speaker 2 (10:45):
Man.
Speaker 4 (10:45):
If he can get to that eighteen to twenty point
mark for the Pacers tomorrow, I really think that the
Pacers win this basketball game. And you said, he's having
these two and three games to a rebounds a game.
He's always standing on the perimeter. He's never in the post.
You can't get a rebound standing at the three point line. Man,
(11:06):
get down there and bang you a seven foot just
like you said, go make you some money tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (11:11):
You an umber, strictly free agent man.
Speaker 4 (11:14):
Go out and try to have one of the best
games that he can possibly play, because if he does,
if he can get to fifteen, eighteen, eighteen and ten,
then he had of Pacers win this game tomorrow.
Speaker 5 (11:26):
That's Plexico Burds. We got cuffs the legend with us,
as well as T. J. Huschman's out on LaVar Arrington.

Speaker 5 (14:13):
I mean that about sums it up.
Speaker 2 (14:15):
We do.
Speaker 8 (14:16):
We got two Major League Baseball games going on right now, LeVar.
The Tampa bay Rays up five to one over the
Detroit Tigers. They're headed to the bottom of the fourth
THNK Just underway at Yankee Stadium, the Yankees and Baltimore
Orioles are scoreless. We had a trade today in the
National Hockey League, the Chicago Blackhawks acquiring forward Andre Brokowski
from the Seattle Kraken for forward Joe Veleno, the back
(14:36):
to back Stanley Cup champion at Florida Panthers meanwhile holding
their exit interviews with the media today in advance of
tomorrow's Stanley Cup parade. We're among other things, they've been
addressing their epic partying exploits, forward Matthew Kachuk telling reporters quote,
we were the best team on the ice, and I
guarantee we're the best team off the ice too. The
(14:58):
party is not stopping at time soon, defenseman Aaron Ecklad
adding we just won two Stanley Cups in a row.
We're not toning it down. And finally, Panthers head coach
Paul Maurice confirmed that he will be wearing a T
shirt at tomorrow's Stanley Cup parade depicting his pet cats,
Penny and Poppy. And finally, in a related story, Cups
(15:22):
and I were actually invited to attend tomorrow's Stanley Cup parade.
I don't know if Cups is planning to attend as well,
but apparently we fit right in with the Panthers partying culture.
Speaker 5 (15:32):
Back to you, guys, Cuffs and that low. I appreciate it,
my guy. Enjoy your weekend, fellas. Going into the break,
I mentioned the idea of Okay, the game is being
played tomorrow and it's a Sunday. But don't you have
(15:52):
so much momentum, doesn't it feel like the game should
be tonight? I mean, for me, it feels like it
should be tonight. I mean the whole scheduling of it.
There have been debates on it. We talked about it
on Pros and Joe this week. It just but always,
are you guys okay with the way the games are scheduled?
Do you think that they I feel like they should
(16:13):
be quicker, Like we should get like one day and
then play it.
Speaker 4 (16:16):
Three days in between for the NBA Finals, I believe
when they switched it back from the two to three
to two, uh you know format, it's always been three
days in between for the NBA Finals, especially for the
traveling team. I don't understand why there's three days in
between this game because it's uh what they did travel
(16:36):
So that's that's what it's been in the NBA for
the last decade or how or I can remember three
days in between?
Speaker 5 (16:43):
But does it make sense?
Speaker 2 (16:45):
It does somebody make it makes sense?
Speaker 3 (16:47):
It makes sense that this is the problem. The first
round series should not be seven game series. That's the
problem is went back to the five games, go back
to five games. When you go back to five games,
that's gonna cut off right there within itself.
Speaker 4 (17:04):
Four days so much hard in those five games.
Speaker 2 (17:08):
Yeah, to me, it should be a five game series.
Speaker 3 (17:11):
I like the fact that the guys, if you're gonna travel,
so now you know they got to go back to
Oklahoma City, they get two days off, and so we
don't want fatigue being the reason the team loses.
Speaker 2 (17:24):
Both of these teams are young.
Speaker 3 (17:25):
Fatigue is not gonna be a factor, but in previous
finals that may have been the case, and so I
don't mind the length of it. I would just say
the first round, go to five games, go to five
games in the first round, best best out of five,
and that right there is gonna probably shorten it by
a week. Finals would have been over last week. But
me personally, I love it. Get me something to watch
(17:48):
because that that period between when the NBA Final ends
and then till the preseason games, that's a long time.
So stretch that thing out as long as.
Speaker 2 (17:56):
You want to.
Speaker 6 (17:58):
I think I think where they really the ball let
with these finals in the last couple of years is
when they took like Father's Day was like last Sunday, right,
and we didn't have a game on Father's Day. And
you remember the legendary Michael Jordan moment where he lost
his father and he won the championship on Father's Day
and he cried in the locker room. That's one of
(18:18):
the greatest finals memories and moments I had as a
child watching the NBA and this past Father's Day, Like
for everybody who has their father in their life, it
would have been a great time, a great moment to
have these finals with a series like we're getting right now,
to have it on Father's Day. But going through what
DJ said about the five game first round, I think
(18:40):
the NBA kind of got scared away from that a
couple of years back when some of the heavy favorites
got got like a first round scare and they didn't want.
You know that, it looks good for Mark's madness when
the good teams lose in the first round in the upsets,
But I think the NBA is so star driven they
kind of got paranoid when some of those top seeds
almost they did lose a couple of times, so I
(19:01):
think that's why we see the seven game series thing.
But I agree labar, like the momentum coming off of
game six, like come to next morning and it's like
we don't need but like one or two days in between.
Speaker 5 (19:13):
Yeah, man, I'm like, I feel like today you would
be gearing up to watch that game. Tomorrow you're gearing
up for your work week. I mean, unless you lazy.
And I ain't trying to hate on nobody, but if
you ain't got nothing else better to do with yourself,
And Sunday is no different than Monday, Tuesday, I get it.
But for those who work, you know, Sunday is a
(19:34):
preparation day.
Speaker 7 (19:35):
Now.
Speaker 5 (19:35):
Granted it's summer and your kids ain't in school, so
you ain't got to drive nobody school, but you're driving
the summer camps, different things like that. You still got
things you got to do during the course of your week,
and Sunday is like that reset day. I just felt
like today is an exciting day, like you got a
free day. It's like it's one of those good days
and you could actually stay up late and not be
(19:55):
an old person and fall asleep, snooze off. You actually
could be excited about you know what the day feels like.
You know, have a good early day, you might even
want to go out to like a little spot to
watch the game. I mean, that's how it should be
feeling to me. But that's just my take on it.
Let's let's transition into this one. Guys going into the game,
y'all mentioned they got to travel, so so Indiana's head
(20:16):
into Oka se uh to play the final game against
the Thunder. What are you saying in the locker room
right now? What are you saying on the on the
practice court? Uh? If you're the coaching staff of these teams,
If it's the Pacers, what are you saying to them
right now? And you know Carlile he is you know
he's got he's got a championship, he's got he's got
(20:39):
the experience here over okayc and their coaching staff. But
if you're Carlyle, what are you saying? And if it's
the the Thunder, what are you saying as the coaches
to them going into this game?
Speaker 3 (20:51):
I mean, it's simple, man, play your heart out, leave
it on the court, have no regrets when the game ends,
win loser, draw. Did you get it everything that you had?
And if you did that, you should be satisfied with yourself.
That's the thing that I play as hard as I
could for as long as I could. When you give
(21:12):
all that you have, especially at game seven, you win
this championship, You're going down in history. So you don't
want to damn that I really play hard on this possession.
You go as hard as you can. When you tired,
you come out the game, and you get right back
in there. The best players need to be at their best.
But to me, the biggest thing is control what you
can control. We control how hard we play. We can
(21:33):
control that effort, and that's all I want.
Speaker 4 (21:36):
Listen, if I'm recalled loud man and I'm gonna practice
court today, I'm gonna continue to give my young guy's confidence.
Andrew nim Hard and Aaron Smith. When Andrew nim Hart
is aggressive, the Indiana paces all different team offensively, and
where Andy Smith is garden and he's knocking down on
(21:57):
the occasional three pointer, there dead tim Uh. They are
different offensively. But if I'm Rick Carlile, I'm challenging Miles
Turner in front of the in front of the team.
Speaker 2 (22:08):
That's what I'm gonna do.
Speaker 4 (22:09):
I'm not gonna put him down in front of the team,
but I'm just going to stress to him how much
we need him if we want to if we want
to hoist the Larry o' brien Trophy tomorrow evening. If
you go out and play the type of basketball game
that you think that we know that you can obi topping,
continue to be yourself and pass y'all, you're on your
(22:31):
way to a finals MVP. If you go out and
have one of these games that we know that you can.
And Tyre's Halliburton, we all know what he can do
when he was on the floor. But if I'm okay,
see the coaches probably say, you know what, we don't
want the excuse of everybody saying that youth is the
(22:54):
reason why we lost this game. Tomorrow, there's no excuse,
and Jalen Williams is really going to have to play
well tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (23:01):
It can't just be.
Speaker 4 (23:03):
It can't just be SGA going out and having thirty
five forty points and Jalen Willie and then j dub
only having fifteen to sixteen. Like the other day in
game six, Alice Caruso had zero points. He had no points,
and check Hongrem, I don't think he's gonna he's gonna
have more than four points tomorrow. So I'm really gonna
(23:24):
be I really gonna believe it's gonna be a dogfight.
But I just really think, man, it's gonna come down
to defense. And when it comes down to defense, I
know everybody has been raving about how good the OKC
thunder have been all year, one of the best defensive
teams in the regular season, But that effort that they
put out there on two days ago, they just kind
(23:49):
of sent the message to me that they believe that
they can turn it on whenever they want to, and
it don't work that way, especially in the game seven. Man,
we got one game to get to a trophy, and
there's no guarantee. It ain't no guarantee that SCA's going
to go out and be great tomorrow either, there's no guarantee.
(24:10):
But I just don't hope that they go in to
this game tomorrow over confident and if things are not
working out earlier, that these young guys go in the tank.
Speaker 6 (24:22):
I think the coaching, I think the coaching matchup is
just as intriguing as the players on the floor. Going
into Game seven. You got you got Mark Dagnaut, who's
a mastermind, tactician respected around the league, one of the
youngest head coaches. But Rick Carlile, he's been in these
deep waters before. He went into Miami, back when it
was American Airlines Arena. I was at that game. I've
(24:44):
never been so sick in my life. The Dallas Mavericks
came into that building and they snatched lebron Boss Steve Wade,
they snatched the Miami heatle soul, and Rick Carlile was
the master mile behind those games, that game plan. And
I do think he has a wrinkle he had. He
had some notes, he's been taking notes watching film. He
has some wrinkles in his back pockets that I feel
(25:06):
like the ok See thunder having seen That's why I'm
hoping we get a close game. But I think his
team is going to really, really really hone in and
listen to what he had to say because he's been
here before.
Speaker 7 (25:17):
Like I said, he's been.
Speaker 6 (25:18):
To the finals in twenty eleven, he won it all,
and I feel like the game plan should be you
can pretty much tensel in SGA for thirty four points tomorrow.
If I'm a better tomorrow, I'm putting HJA for at
least thirty two to thirty four thirty five points tomorrow.
That's what Rick Carlisle should be telling this team. We
can't stop that guy.
Speaker 7 (25:36):
We can.
Speaker 6 (25:37):
All we can do is can test this shot, hope
he make a miss, right. But these other guys, Lou Dort,
Aaron Wiggins, the Crusoe, those guys, we cannot allow them
to have another Monster game. Crusoe didn't do anything last game,
but the game a couple games before he had twenty.
Aaron Wiggins has had, has had two good games this series.
They have to cut out those other guys. Isaiah Joe.
(25:59):
You can't one of these others to like take your legacy.
And that's what you could you imagine tomorrow if if
somebody out of the blue like Heart and Stein or
somebody has eighteen and twelve, that can be the tip
and scale of a game seven. And that's the most
dangerous part about the game seven is any random player
can show up.
Speaker 7 (26:20):
So I can't wait for this game tomorrow.
Speaker 6 (26:21):
But one last thing I will say, I just don't
want to see the refs try to decide this game.
Speaker 2 (26:27):
Oh my god, don't let Scott fark.
Speaker 6 (26:29):
Lastom players play last up players side the finals. We
don't want to see any fishy calls. And I haven't
seen who the revereree Crue is foster. It might be
Tony Brothers. So all I'm gonna say to y'all, if
y'all are listening to NBA reps, if you are tuning
in right now, just let the players decide this tomorrow.
Speaker 7 (26:49):
That's all we ask.
Speaker 5 (26:51):
All right, well, we'll do our picks on next segment,
up on game, down on game. But I wanted to
switch gears real quick and have the conversation about ring chasing.
I think that's been the latest conversation surrounding Lebron James.
I'm curious the debate has been the debate. It's kind
(27:16):
of old, it's kind of stale, But I'm just curious
about the whole idea about ring chasing. Is the ring
chasing aspect based upon how you're able to be viewed,
you know, legacy wise, you know, reputation, accolades wise.
Speaker 7 (27:35):
Is it.
Speaker 5 (27:37):
Just the fact that Michael Jordan has more rings than
Lebron James that people may continue to have the argument
and use that as leverage against them, Because you got
to be real here, If we're basing it off of that,
then Bill Russell has to be considered the greatest basketball
player of all time. And so if you're ring chasing,
(27:59):
no one has done well enough to catch Bill Russell yet.
But so it kind of to me, is there a
qualifier here? Is it MJ's seven rings? That is is
the purpose for ring chasing?
Speaker 1 (28:13):
What?
Speaker 5 (28:13):
Like, give me some let's get some perspective on this.
Speaker 4 (28:17):
Well, when you say that, I get confused because I
thought we were all ring chasing when we stepped on
a quarter, when we stepped on the football.
Speaker 5 (28:26):
I was ring chasing, That's for certain.
Speaker 4 (28:28):
I don't understand how you know they can sit there
and say it's not important to a legacy or whatever
the case may be. This is why some of these
great athletes before us have the legacies that they do,
because they were world champions.
Speaker 2 (28:47):
And I would I never stept.
Speaker 4 (28:50):
On a football field in high school, literally, college a
professional if my ultimate goal was not to reach the
pinnacle of the sport.
Speaker 2 (29:03):
That confuses me.
Speaker 4 (29:05):
I mean, obviously, you know, there's been a lot of
a lot of great players that have not won championships
that deserve to win them. But I just kind of
get confused with that. The whole narrative of winning World
championships don't mean anything.
Speaker 3 (29:27):
I just but that's coming from a champion, that's coming
from somebody that actually has won.
Speaker 2 (29:34):
No.
Speaker 4 (29:34):
No, what I'm saying from a personal standpoint, if I
have not won one. The ultimate goal is to win
a championship, is right?
Speaker 5 (29:42):
Is it at all costs?
Speaker 2 (29:44):
It?
Speaker 5 (29:44):
Is it running from team the team?
Speaker 2 (29:46):
Is it?
Speaker 5 (29:47):
Like? What's the what's the price of it? You know
what I mean? Like? It does that play a part
in the ring chasing? I mean Bill Russell who he
won them all with the Celtics, didn't they? I believe?
Speaker 7 (30:00):
Can we be honest here, LeVar?
Speaker 9 (30:04):
Once Lebron James started to get close, close and close
and started closing in on the goat conversation with Michael Jordans,
that's when everybody woke up and decided to care about
ring talk.
Speaker 6 (30:19):
I remember a time where Barry Sanders, who, by the way,
is my favorite running back of all time in NFL. Right,
he never won a championship, and yeah, I was sad
as a kid watching him lose to the Redskins and
the playoffs.
Speaker 7 (30:33):
I was sick.
Speaker 6 (30:34):
And then Alan Iverson, my probably second all time favorite
player even before Lebron came to the league. I was
devastated when Iverson lost those finals to the Lakers, but
it didn't change how I viewed Iverson or Barry Sanders.
And I hate that it's become like half of the
fans and half of the media's fault where they put
this pressure on players to win rings. That's why we
(30:57):
saw Kevin Durant go to the Warriors. It was a
good basketball fit, but Kad knew, Like, Yo, everybody is saying,
I don't have any rings, so I have to I
have to succumb to the pressure of the outside.
Speaker 7 (31:09):
Noise and go get me one.
Speaker 6 (31:11):
And I hate that we were robbed at this moment,
but it has sucked for a lot of players like
you got the like I said, Iverson, Barkley, John Startin's
of the world, Carl Malan's like, these were great players,
but they won't be mentioned in the same category. I
hate that it's like that, but true competitors and people
who are real pearents of the sport they watch and
(31:33):
they understand these.
Speaker 7 (31:34):
Guys was great.
Speaker 6 (31:35):
But it's definitely a tricky conversation. Man, But I thought, you.
Speaker 2 (31:38):
Know, you know what comes.
Speaker 4 (31:39):
I agree with you that, and I agree with you
that in basketball, but not in the game of football,
because I don't I don't think you can diminish, you know,
just like you say Barry Sanders or you know, guy's
career playing the NFL didn't win a.
Speaker 5 (31:57):
Championship, Randy Moss as well, Yeah right, I mean, he's
not a better quarterback than Dann Marino. He's not a
better quarterback. He's not.
Speaker 3 (32:08):
I don't know who told you that you must not
watch the film on.
Speaker 2 (32:14):
I don't know who told you terms.
Speaker 5 (32:16):
Of a quarterback. Marino is a better quarterback than I.
Speaker 2 (32:20):
Don't know about that. I don't know about that.
Speaker 5 (32:22):
You better go watch some film now watched that you
must not remember who Mano is.
Speaker 4 (32:28):
A lot of remember great football players that that have
come before us, that I've played with, played the Gaints,
played on teams that their their careers was their careers
was so great that you don't even think about them.
(32:48):
You don't even judge him off or not winning the
championship because the game of football is is different from
basketball because there's eleven guys. When he's haide of football,
heast oide of the ball. Yeah, there's some any things
that can happen, but basketball, I can.
Speaker 2 (33:04):
I can agree with what you're saying, Cuffs. You can
control that, I really can. But I also believe that what.
Speaker 4 (33:13):
Cuff said was h lebron is saying it's about ring culture.
Speaker 2 (33:18):
I believe.
Speaker 4 (33:19):
I think that once he got to a place now
and he's not going to catch Jordan or Kobe, he's
kind of down playing it back, saying why are we
talking ring culture now? But if he would have got there,
it would have been a whole different reddit from him.
That's what I really believe.
Speaker 5 (33:40):
I think it's a hard one and I guess the
point I was trying to get to whether you think
Tom Brady is more talented than Damn Marino, which I don't.
He is not more talented than Dan Marino was when
they were playing the game. That's just my assessment on it.
But regardless, if that were the case, will you take
and think that the person that won more rings is
(34:03):
the better player? It should be looked at as the
goat versus the one or like Barry Sanders. You could
take Barry Sanders or compare Barry Sanders to any great
running back that's won a Super Bowl. Take him and Smith,
put him at Smith in the conversation. Are you going
with Emmitt Smith because of the records and the rings?
(34:25):
Or are you going with Barry Sanders because Barry Sanders
was clearly more talent or you know, was more talented.
Speaker 2 (34:32):
Than Look at Rob Carter lok career.
Speaker 5 (34:38):
And I don't think anyone has more rings than Robert Orry.
I think Robert or He's got the bros out. Anybody
got seven? No, it's more than that.
Speaker 2 (34:49):
No, he got seven?
Speaker 5 (34:51):
Is it seven?
Speaker 2 (34:52):
Yes, big shot Bob got seven.
Speaker 5 (34:55):
That's a lot man. Anyway, I guess the point is
does the ring? Do the rings have to matter if
you're in the goat conversation? Does did Jim Brown have
Super Bowl rings?
Speaker 2 (35:08):
Hey?
Speaker 6 (35:08):
Lebar last point about the rings? When I was a
little kid in the barbershop, this is back when Isaiah
Thomas was a Piston, Larry Bird Celtics showtime laker. This
is the mid early eighties, right. I never heard any
men in the barbershop ever say anything about the goat.
Who the goat was? The legacy debates who had the
most rings? I am telling you, Once Lebron got close
(35:32):
to Michael Jordan's throne, that's when all the gold posts
started moving left and right, and it's actually insane because
I feel like Loki Isaiah Thomas. If we're going to
be real and watch the film Isaiah Thomas, Zeke Thomas
from Chicago, Illinois, Detroit Pistons. Isaiah Thomas, he's low key
the greatest pure point guard ever. But people slight him
(35:53):
because he has he got two rings. Mattic has more rings,
Curry has more rings. But if you go by the eyeball,
that's a lot of people would say Isaiah Thomas is
better than Magie Johnson. And he did it at six
to two.
Speaker 5 (36:07):
Yeah, he was a beast. All right, let's take a
quick break on the other side of the break, we're
gonna get to it. You know what it is up
on game down, on game as I continue to dominate
and round out everything that's well, you know, great picks
by me, you know with the NBA. Uh yeah, did
we even talk about that last week? I know it
(36:27):
wasn't on, but did we talk about We didn't, Oh,
because y'all ain't want to hear how bad how bad
I thumped y'all like you weren't.
Speaker 2 (36:35):

not present.

Speaker 5 (38:14):
Down on game, all right, Braska? What you got for
is pat?
Speaker 6 (38:20):
All right?
Speaker 10 (38:21):
Well, guys, it is time for what time?
Speaker 5 (38:25):
Up on game?
Speaker 1 (38:25):
Down on game?
Speaker 10 (38:26):
And guys, we only have one all but it's a doozy.
It's Game seven NBA Finals, Pacers, Thunder and OKAC. All
the marbles, guys. And with that said, the OKAC is
actually six and a half point favorites over Under is
two hundred and fourteen and a half and based off
(38:48):
of last week, I do have numbers, it seems, Plaques,
Cuffs and DJ you all tied with one apiece snow
and could get quite get over on everybody else.
Speaker 5 (38:58):
But hey, the tie game. But because I wasn't around,
you know what I mean, y'all gonna live in these ties,
I would have won it. I would have went ahead
and one you know what I mean, I know what
I'm talking about.
Speaker 2 (39:10):
All right?
Speaker 10 (39:11):
Well, let's see, let's let's see you put your money
where your mouth is. Let's go Bosco's first here, LeVar,
who you got for a.
Speaker 5 (39:17):
Certain I'm gonna take the under on two fourteen and
uh okay, see will not cover on that, So I'm
gonna take I'm gonna you know, I guess I take
Indiana on that one. If I'm being for real, for real,
I want to say money.
Speaker 2 (39:32):
Line, pick one of the others. Pick two.
Speaker 5 (39:36):
I'm gonna save money.
Speaker 2 (39:37):
You gotta take bread or take money line.
Speaker 5 (39:40):
Yeah, that's what I'm saying. I'm switching up. I'm gonna
take money line Indiana Pacers. Okay, yeah, I'm money lineup,
all right? Next up? Could no, no, no, yeah, yeah.
Well what y'all got, what y'all say?
Speaker 2 (39:51):
Yeah, we gonna say it when we go go ahead? Cuffs?
Speaker 5 (39:57):
What you got? Cuffs? He's on? There is, there is.
Speaker 7 (40:03):
I'm going with the Thunder. They haven't lost the new
games in the row the whole entire.
Speaker 6 (40:07):
Playoffs, so they're gonna cover the spread.
Speaker 7 (40:10):
They're gonna win.
Speaker 6 (40:11):
They're gonna win the game outright, and they're gonna be
the They're gonna be the first time NBA champion.
Speaker 7 (40:16):
We've seen it. Okay, see man, it's j MVP.
Speaker 5 (40:18):
See you panic because your phone was on mute or something,
or your headphones wasn't work. You panicked and you said
some wild stuff out your mouth. Go ahead, who's up?
What you got paid?
Speaker 2 (40:26):
So go ahead, go to you, Jim. So listen.
Speaker 3 (40:30):
At the outset of the finals, I picked Oklahoma City.
I'm not comfortable with switching my pick even I want
to see a great game, so I'm gonna stay with
who I picked. At the outset, I'm gonna take the
Oklahoma City. They will both score more than two hundred
and fourteen points, So I'm taking over and I'm taking
Oklahoma City.
Speaker 2 (40:51):
But it's weird when I watch these games.
Speaker 3 (40:54):
I don't know why I'm rooting for Indiana and I
picked Oklahoma City.
Speaker 2 (40:58):
It's weird.
Speaker 4 (41:00):
You know, I'm gonna pick it back off of what
Cuffs just said. The okc thunder have not loft two
games in a row, just like the Indiana Pacers did
all playoffs. But this is gonna be the first time
that they lose two in a row. Why doesn't happen
to be Game seven? Oh, I'm going over on the
point I'm going Palsiakam as my MVP TJ in the
(41:24):
Indiana Pacers to take the Larry O'Brien Trophy back to Naptown,
the great City of indian Napolis.
Speaker 5 (41:34):
There you go, y'all. Well you heard it here. It's
up on game. That's Cuffs TJ Plex. I'm LeVar. Hope
y'all enjoyed up on game. Jonas Knox is coming up next.
I'm sure he'll have some interesting things to talk about,
as I said, so yeah, stay tuned in. All right,
this is Fox Sports Radio
