Speaker 1 (00:00):
You don't listening to sports. Yo, yo yo. We are
back for the second hour. First hour kind of flew
by once again up on game Plexico Birds t j
Ushman Zada Lavars coaching football this morning, and he bet
not be taking them else because the players win and
(00:22):
the coaches lose. That that's that's my philosophy. But if
he was smart, he used that Dollar Shave Club six
blade razor this morning because it's gonna bring noticeably smooth
shades with six things to steel blaze for swift hair
removal and the lubricating strip that keeps things moved. Dollar
Shape Club raisers, so that Dollar Shape Club dot Com
(00:44):
or in the store plex. So we're getting the second hour.
And I was reading something. I saw that Michael Beasy
score twenty six points in his Big Three debut. What
Michael Beasley ain't in the NBA, bro Man, I have
no idea. I have no idea. He came out of
Kansas State. Man is one of the highly talented um
(01:06):
you know, college college basketball players that come into the NBA,
and his career just never really took off to the
point to where like he he had definitely superstar ability
when he was in college, but his game just never
really got to the point to where he could find
a team and just be consistent enough to just remain
(01:29):
on a roster. Uh. That's one of the things that
it happens. We've seen that happen in all sports and
on several different occasions. But Michael Bies is definitely he
was nice, salented, but for him to be in the
Big Three so young, but yeah, I think about it, man,
some of these guys are you know what Katie has
(01:51):
been the league with fifteen years now. I think him
and him and Katie grew up together out and and
uh and what Prince George County in d C in
d C. But they came out together. So we're talking
about fifteen, sixteen years ago where these guys came into
the league. It don't seem like it, but uh, a
(02:14):
time is undefeated. Man, It's one of the things that
we cannot hold on to. That's crazy because man, Durant
was drafted I believe it was a two thousand and
seven Yeah, yeah, so this will this will be his
fifteen season. So he's played fourteen. Yeah, maybe he did
play fifteen, who knows, but that is a long time.
(02:35):
But yeah, Michael Beasley has enough talent I believe to
play in the NBA. I mean, you look at the tenth, eleven,
twelfth guy on the bench. He gotta get you more
than that. He gonna get you more than that. But
he should definitely be playing somewhere. Man, when you're putting
up twenty six and uh big three, they ain't playing
(02:55):
but the fifty and he I mean like he's getting
half are your points, all right? And he gonna he
gonna do it game in and game out because he's
probably the best player in that league. Hey, I saw
the other day that uh uh, most of my man
names fifty three years old man still playing basketball my
(03:17):
moves had formerly known as Chris Jackson fifty three years old. Man.
I'm talking out there straight hooping like he missed a step.
I gotta call him and see what he got going
on over there, man, because hey, he's in phenomenal shape,
(03:37):
and especially to be out there playing with some of
those young guys and some of those guys in their
twenties and this mate out there putting up to fifteen points.
He got them good bones and his body is he
took care of his body when he was younger. Now
we were on the topic of basketball. We talked about
this early in the show. We started to show what
(03:57):
it with Kyrie Irving. We we you you spoke on
it a little bit about let's attack this from the
What does Kevin Durant? What are his thoughts? How does
he feel about this? Because I know it was this
pact of let's get to Brooklyn together Kyrie and k D.
(04:19):
And now that this is going on, he hasn't come
out and said anything publicly. His four year max contract
kicks in this year, so he's under contract. But the
NBA players have shown if they're unhappy, they can't get
where they want to be. How do you think he
feels about this situation that's going on with Kyrie, how
it's being how to do because he hasn't said a
(04:40):
word about it. Yeah, that's what That's what I don't understand.
I don't understand. I remember at the one at the
one game, Kyrie Irving got to the podium and sat
behind it and said he was like, man, I got
my guy seven. I'm gonna be here playing with my
guy seven, referring to Kevin Durant as if I'm going
to remain in Brooklyn. I want to play with Kevin Durant,
(05:02):
but Kevin Durant hasn't came out and said anything. That's
one of the things that confused me about this whole
situation is if you want the Kyrie to remain with
your basketball team, come out and support him, Come come
out and say something. But you know, there's no better
point guard that that Brooklyn can get. We know that.
But for Kevin Durant, we we spoke about it last week.
(05:23):
He didn't have to leave Golden State, but he chose
to because you know, it was one of those things
where everybody was saying he couldn't win the World Championship
without Steph Curry. Now Steph Curry has his fourth championship
without Kevin Durant. So he's still trying to prove to
us and everybody else that he can lead a team
to an NBA championship. But it's gonna be tough for
(05:45):
him to win the championship, especially if Kyrie Irvan doesn't
return to this basketball team. His his chances are winning
another championship gets slimmer and slimmer. But for him, if
if he wants to uh an opportunity to compete in
the Eastern Conference to get out of the Eastern Conference
(06:06):
and get to the NBA Finals, Kyrie Irvin has to
be a part of this basketball team. And I just
don't understand why or how if, if Kyrie Irvin has
been so vocal about playing with Kevin Durant, why don't
they just get this deal done and move on and
try to try to put together a basketball that a
(06:29):
basketball team they can continue to win a championship. As
much as Katie may Or may not want to play
with Kyrie Irving, when you're talking a hundred and eighty
million dollar contract and it's fully guaranteed for a guy
that I didn't want to get vaccinated, you couldn't play
(06:49):
in any game because they didn't want them just playing
in the way games because of chemistry. That puts the
organization in a spot because, yes, you want to appease
your best player, which is Kevin Durant. You don't want
to piss him off. But am I gonna piss him off?
Or am I gonna give up eight million? I think
(07:10):
I'd rather piss him off And hope he understands why
he hasn't come out and said a word about it.
So we we don't know how he feels, but I'm
sure he has some feelings on this either way, Whereas yeah,
I see where you guys are coming from. Or I mean,
you gotta pay this man because there's nobody that we
(07:32):
can bring in that's gonna give us what he's given us.
If you guys are going for draft picks, I gotta
be out because I don't have time to wait on
these first round picks are developed. My career, I probably
got five years where I can really go get it.
Who knows what's gonna happen. Hopefully they make the right decision.
To all the people that's listening, wherever you get your
(07:53):
podcast from, we need you to subscribe. It's up on
Game Presents where this Apple my heart. It doesn't matter
what is, We're gonna go to legendary moments. We got
a head banger for this one, and I remember watching him. Um,
I'm sure LaVar pattern this game after him somewhat with
Greg Lloyd, Pittsburgh Steeler linebacker. Head banger. That's what I
(08:17):
That's how I refer to him. But again, make sure
wherever you get your podcast from, whether it's Apple. I
heard up on Game presents. UM, make sure you subscribe.
You like UM. You just you just support us. We
appreciate it. Let's get to this legendary moment with Greg Lloyd.
Game Game Presents conversations with the Legion and now this
(08:43):
is your legendary moment. Every single thing we had to
be everyone. We had to be as strong as the
d lineman. We had to be as as you know,
I have as much agility as the running backs and
the receivers. Well, well, I'm gonna say this. I'm gonna
i go what you say about about being an outside
linebry if I were we were in college. When we
(09:04):
were in college and outside lineback, and you've got three scholarships,
like you said, you know you got you they're giving
you one that you got three. You gotta be able
to talk, you gotta be able to rush the passer,
and you gotta be stuff up there and cover. Not
everybody on defense is actually do that. So we're the
only ones that do it. We are the only one,
especially in the three four defense and the three four defense.
(09:27):
If you don't have four outstanding linebackers that can cover
tight and not just let they punk run down the
middle of the field, without touching them, you know, and
stuff like that. But you gotta be able to do that.
You gotta be able to be a run stuffer. You
gotta be able to stop play on the other side
of the ball. You gotta be able to go out
there to line up on the wide receiving covering for
twenty yards, you know, carry for ten yards fifteen yards
(09:49):
cross the field, and you gotta be able to get
off the ball. And day you don't put some pressure
on the quarterback. They don't ask everybody to do that,
you know. And see now different game because now they
hire he's pass rush. We just dropped they passed rush.
So what happens on you know, you know when they
when they're not passed us, when it's not pass us down,
(10:09):
what are you doing? You gotta take them off the film.
You gotta take them on the still. So you got
a hundred million dollars standing on sidelines. You know which
which is? You know, it's a different game. This is
a that's a that's a really game that they're playing
right now. Hard for me to watch. And uh, I
know you're recording it and I don't know, No, you
speak your mind, you this straight. This is straight straight
(10:30):
game right now, you know, And there's some dogs still
like that. I still got some get some guys. I
watched this. There's some dogs out there. But for the
both part, it's like, what do you feel? The cold said, Hey,
it's it's third dollar board. We're gonna take you out
of the game. Just just shows you the type of
mentality to bleep bleep bleep. It shows you the type
(10:52):
of mentality that Greg Lloyd had. Hey, I had to
correct LaVar, Tom. We gotta move like receivers. Boy, if
you don't, you better cover them tight ends and them
running back Stofar talking about we gotta cover a receiver.
Yeah right, yeah, I mean you gotta cover receivers sometimes.
I mean, man, listen, I love Gee Lloyd Man. I
(11:14):
had the opportunity on several occasions to sit down and
chop it up with this man. Man one of the
most feared outside of the lineback was when I was
growing up just watching and just man with the physicality
and and the and the meanness that he just played
the position. You just had to love him and the
(11:35):
way he played the game. And obviously me playing in
Pittsburgh for seven years, he was always around and Uh, man,
do y'all know that Greg Lloyd was also a fifth
degree black belt. Can you imagine that that's why he
talking away. He's talking because oh yeah, you're not Lloyd
in the street and just think you're just gonna do
(11:57):
what we want to do. I mean, this man is
is a martial arts fifty three black but he's gonna
put them hands on you also, and that's scared. Like
for man his side, he knocking your hat off on
the field and off the field. If that's what you
wanna do, Tell on that open hand slap what that
feels like. Bro. You just heard the passion in his voice.
(12:20):
And when he started talking about football as it is
today compared to when he played. I mean, dog, you
gotta think about this man like when he was playing
in Pittsburgh, Greg Lloyd, Kevin Green, Chad Brown, kirkl Kirkland,
I mean you're talking about it was. It was absolutely
(12:43):
sickening back then for that defense man. Uh Levron Kirkler
was maybe six four, what two six s Kirkland was
probably two eighty. Bro. I mean, geez, listen, and I
played with them guys, man, man, I was drafting in
two thousand and Um, Levon Cooking was was our middle
linebacker and you were just people don't that that game
(13:06):
back then three years ago was different. We would have
live run periods. Man, I don't know what do you
know what this sounded like on gold line when we
just ruining the straight lead with the foot with fullback
Jerome Bettis and meeting at the gold line. I don't
(13:30):
know what Okay did did y'all? Did y'all do Oklahoma's? No,
we do Oklahoma. Marvin Lewis had us doing Oklahoma's. Man.
It used to piss me off because they Olahoma. We
were doing Oklahoma's bro Like we was kids. They put
me against the safety. It's just all we did was band. Kids.
Are never forget the one time we had a live
period of what you're talking about and one of our
(13:55):
tight ends being U Tech. He had come from the
Indianapolis Coats. I mean he got knocked out, bro Like,
he was out for four or five minutes. That had
called an ambulance. They called the ambulance. They took him
out on the stretcher, bro Like. It was scary. And
then the next day we did o Clomas again. Oh yeah,
the next day it was like oh we we're gonna
(14:16):
do it again. Like it was just the amount of
brod was so different, Like we would practice training camp starts,
you got a double day. The next day, you got
a double day. You wake up, you can't even walk,
but you gotta run in forty five minutes to an hour.
Like it was just so crazy. How you can't even
(14:40):
get up from your bed to go to the bathroom
to brush your teeth, but in one hour they're gonna
blow that whist when you're gonna sprint. They don't understand,
Like it's not even like that anymore. The way it
is now, it's so much better for the players long
term health. But when we was playing, oh man, he's like, okay,
well you got the script. You got Oklahoma's you like, damn,
(15:02):
am I gonna do this? Oklahoma are gonna act like
I'm dehydrated, like I'm cramping up before this period, like
and ibody want to do Damn Oklahoma's. The last time
other Oklahoma drew was in high school. We didn't even
do it in college in Michigan State, well, marvit coach
Marvin Lewis had us doing them in the league, and
everybody that played with Cincinnati, knowing all it was was
(15:23):
put your chin strap on running tween so you don't
get ran over. Did Jay get down there? Chad never did. Oklahoma,
Chad a no lot. And if Chad did do it,
he went and gets a corner and he was like, hey, bro,
I'm just gonna let you run. Like Chad had no
problem when you ran into him. Chad literally would just
(15:43):
fall on the ground as soon as you touched him,
like I'm not doing this. No, like I'm not doing this,
Like yeah, Coach Lou had us getting headaches for the
rest of the day, Like damn, man, you're not the
cartoon when you see stars. All right, Marvin Lewis, we
appreciate you. That's why I need to take my A

or wherever you get your podcast. That New Trade Black Shoot.
You like that New Drake album. I haven't got all
the way through it yet, don't listen like seven of
the eight songs, it's more like a club album than me.
It's like, uh, up tempo, kind of techno hip hop. Yeah,
(18:17):
that's what I can kind of explain it. Yeah, My
my favorite song on it is Jimmy Cooks with one set.
That's my favorite one, Jimmy cook So it's the last
song on album too, that that's my favorite one. It's
probably because it's more uh, it doesn't have all the
dance to it. It is more rapping. But yeah, that
(18:38):
that's my favorite one, Jimmy Cooks. But speaking of favorite,
it's a favorite family in the NFL. Arch Manning. He
commits to Texas. But before we get to arch Manning,
let's talk about the Dollar Shave Club six blade razor
brings noticeably smooth shades with six sting of steel blades,
(18:59):
first Harry move and a lubricating strip that keeps things move.
Dollar Shave Club raisers are sold that Dollar Shave Club
dot Com. Or you can just walk right in the
store and get you one. Arch Man and you play
with his uncle Eli. Uh that family is royalty in
the NFL. Payton one of the best quarterbacks and players
that ever playing in the National Football League. What do
(19:22):
you make of his commitment to Texas? Will he be
and uh, same breath as his as his uncle's and
just the way college football his hiss changed recently. He
went about it completely different man. And it's no surprise
because it's he has a lot of family. His grandfather,
(19:44):
both his uncles have been through this. He didn't pull
out the hat, he didn't do it on ESPN. Hed Hey,
I'm going to Texas, No no publicity behind it. I'm
just going to Texas. What do you make of and
in the way he went about it, I'm just thinking
a little who who's going to be the quarterback in
Texas next year when he arrives? Because uh as soon
(20:05):
as that kid comes comes to the door, man, they
put them on the football field. I haven't had a
chance to see him in person yet, but from what
I understand, man, he's a he's not far away from
where his uncles are. Eline Peyton man six five. I
think he's only fifty seven hundred yards already in high school.
But but him going to Texas, man, I love it.
(20:27):
I really thought that, um, he was gonna go to Virginia,
and for him to turn down Nick saban and and
not to not to go to Tennessee or Mississippi like
Elin Paton did. What made you think he would go
to Virginia. I just some something was just telling me
that he just wanted to do something off the beaten path,
(20:48):
something different that nobody thought he was gonna do. But
for him going to Texas, I think it's a great move, man,
because if you ask Vince Young about playing quarterback in Texas, man,
it's like the best position that any college football kid
can have in college football, and that is to play
quarterback for the University of Texas. But if you're Steve Sarkisian,
(21:11):
You're looking at this, You're like, you know what, what
with the way that everything is going down right now
in college football with the n I L deals and
all the those kind of things. I'm looking forward to
Texas having probably the number one best recruiting class over
the next five years. If you're in high school and
you play a skilled position, you play offense, you played
wide receiver, you want to go to Texas and play
(21:33):
with a guy like Arch Manning. There's no doubt about it.
If you want to, if you want to take advantage
of that situation with that young man throwing the football. Listen,
I'm not saying he's going to be great. He's getting
not gonna be a Hall of Famer, but I would
put my money on it that he's going to be
a pretty but pretty damn good quarterback in college. And
(21:54):
if I'm a wide receiver and I'm looking at all
these situations that I can put myself into to go
to college and have a successful Korea, and I can
have a Manning throwing to me, especially with everything that's
going on. Guys getting paid these n I L deals,
the better you perform is basically saying, you know, the
(22:17):
more money you're going to make. But for Texas right now,
for them to land that guy man. It's a home
run for for for the University of Texas. Steves like
Keason knowing that he is going to be able to
get basically all the recruits that he needs to help
to bring another national championship back to Texas. With arch
(22:40):
Manning now saying that he's going to Texas, so let
let let's look at this. Let's let's look at the
Texas roster of quarterbacks now. Hudson card who who was
a number two quarterback in the country last year, he's
at um Texas. Queen you Words, who was a number
one quarterback track from Ohio State in the Texas this
(23:03):
year he was ranked as the highest quarterback recruit, and
I believe the last twenty five years he's at Texas.
They got Malik Murphy from out here in my neck
of it was Guardina Sarah High School. Six five kid
that can really throw it and and move a little bit.
When Arch Manning arrives on campus, how do they navigate
(23:26):
this plex or is he an immediate starter? Obviously you're
gonna have to earn it. But what happens sat Texas
has a good year this year with Queenn yours, what
happens next year? When arch manning arrivals happened, everybody's going
to have to go and to compete to win the job.
But he's not going to Texas to sit on a
(23:46):
bench on the in new circumstance, I don't care how
good Quinn Evers goes out man unless he was a
national championship. When arch mann Uh steps on the campus,
he's going to be the starting quarterback of the call.
Hey man, it wasn't even the starter when he stepped
on campus at Tennessee. Well what his halfway through his
(24:07):
freshman year? Yeah, and it was crazy. He just had
some good luck to starter, I believe got hurt, Like
we talked her to Hey, Todd heldon, wont the starter.
Todd Helton was the backup. So the starter got hurt,
Todd Helton became the starter, and then Todd Helton got hurt,
and then he and then and then and then he
went and said, you know what, Uh, this Peyton, Hey,
(24:30):
this Peyton guy looked pretty good. I'm gonna go ahead
and stick to baseball and was one of the best
hitters in baseball. But hey, you just said this guy.
Queen was was one of the highly ranked quarterback out
of the last twenty five years when you think Manning
is and but you know what, they say that Arch
(24:52):
Manning has not played the type of competition that a
lot of these other quarterbacks have played. And so oh,
he'll figure it out most of year college. I mean,
you're going to improve it. If you're any type of
good player, you will you will improve. It's the pedigree,
it's the last name Manning. We know that for sure helps.
(25:15):
That that helps, But yet the queen yours do he
He's from Texas. He left high school early. When I
say he didn't even play his senior year of high
school because he had a million dollars in I L
deal and at the time, the state of Texas wouldn't
let him capitalize on that. And so he was like,
I'm gonna go ahead and leave and go to Ohio State.
(25:37):
But it was going into his senior year, he was
the number one recruit. He initially committed to Texas and
then he changed his mind and went to Ohio State.
And so it will be interesting because of his history
(26:00):
of being one of the best quarterbacks in Texas high
school history. You leave Ohio State and I'm sure him
and his parents are sitting there like, uh, what's next,
not that arch Manning is coming here? What do we do? Where?
Where do we go from here? And so that will
be interesting. I'm with you, though, I do expect Arch
(26:23):
Manning midway through his freshman year, like his uncle Payton,
to be named the starting quarterback. It's inevitable when you
when you have a coach like Steve Sarkisian to Steve
Sarkisian another California boy went to El Camino Junior College
and the coach with Pete curl usc him and Lane Kiff,
(26:46):
and they just do a really good job of developing quarterbacks,
getting them to understand what's expected of them, understanding offense
and defense. Yeah, but it's but a lot of things
come with him. Man. Just to have him saying that
he's going to go to Texas, I mean, the number
of recruits that are going to go to Texas to
(27:08):
play play, play with him. I mean, it's a it's
a gold mine over there right now, Texas up. But
especially with this in I eld W Texas. Even if
you're a queen of yours or one of those quarterbacks
on the roster, you can still transfer and play the
same year. It's not like it used to be. You
(27:29):
can transfer once this bank is in college or whatever
the case may be, and and and choose to leave
school and go tend another school and play the same season.
I know, Queen Yours is like, God, I go to
Ohio State, I'm behind C. J. Stroud, I leave and
go to Texas and I'm like, Okay, I got a
chance to start now, Okay, oh man arch Manny, But
(27:53):
hopefully Queen Yours, it's all up to you, bro, you
have a great year this year. You're not gonna If
you have a great year, you're not getting benched. Arch
Manning will back you up one year you go to
the league. Let's see if that's a possibility. But I
I believe arch Manning is you watched this little basketball highlights, right?
You see those? Yeah, I've seen his basketball. He likes
(28:16):
to tell me, man, he was averaging twenty points in
high school basketball, Like, come on, dog stuck, come on, man,
but average twenty points in how suit who y'all playing against? Hey?
But do you ever played basketball against these courting them?
Dudes are strong, bro, And if quarterbacks like they, well
you're you're a big dude. Plex them due they are
a lot bigger than people think them. You you guard
(28:39):
them in the post. Them dudes are strong but arching.
He getting fast breaks, doing a little nice little tomahawks
on him, like he got a little bounced to him.
So he has some athleticism. And with that name everybody knows,
last name Manning, he will be giving every opportunity to succeed.
(29:01):
And he will. And it's what you said though. These kids,
these high school kids, they want to play with him,
And so I looked at Texas. Now in these next
six months of recruits, a lot of these kids are
gonna start changing commitments. Like I'm trying to get down
to Texas and play with Arch Manning. We're gonna go
(29:22):
trending with our guy, Isaac lorn cron I lo what
you got for us, fellows. Will start with the Major
League Baseball scoreboard. The Yankees and Astros are scorelets on
the top of the second inning at Yankee Stadium, but
the Tampa Bay Rays have a too nothing lead over
the Pittsburgh Pirates, also in the top of the second ending,
those runs coming on a two run single by Vidal
(29:42):
Bruhan of Tampa Bay. In Chicago, the White Sox and
Orioles in a raindo lay at Comiskey Park. Big news
from the world of soccer were multiple outlets report that
soccer superstar Gareth Bail, most recently of Real Madrid, signing
with l a f C, the Los Angeles Football Club
(30:03):
of Major League Soccer. On Friday night, Game five of
the Stanley Cup Final between the Tampa Bay Lightning and
Colorado Avalanche in Denver was tied to two in the
third period. Here are Dave Michigan and Hall of Famer
Phil Esposito on w f L A left corner headman.
(30:35):
By the way, I wonder Phil Esposito is available to
do a football commentary this fall. Come on, come on,
shoot it, come on shooting. Good thing that he did,
because it was the winning goal. Tampa Bay wins it
by a three to two score, so that sends the
Stanley Cup Final back to Tampa for Game six on Sunday.
The Avalanche now leading the series three games to to
(30:56):
the plot thickens in the Stanley Cup Final. T J
and Blacks back to you, Ilo, when you brought up
the Yankees. He just got me to thinking. And once
again we are off topic. But who cares? Aaron Judge
and the Yankees. But like you've seen, he went through arbitration.
They offered him seventeen, he wanted twenty one. They settled
(31:16):
for nineteen. It just had me thinking, you're talking about
betting on yourself. It kind of reminded me of what
Lamar Jackson is doing right now. So the Yankees before
the season, they offered Aaron Judge seven years. I believe
it was two hundred and eighteen millions. Somebody correct me
if I'm wrong on that amount, but it's I know
it was like thirty one million a year. Seven years,
(31:40):
two hundred and eighteen million. Just about. He turns it
down because you know baseball he's signed that to eighteen
is guaranteed. He turns it down. Plex He about to
be m v P. He leading the Major's and home runs.
You talk about bet on yourself. He seven home runs
already and before the All Star lead the Majors. Bro,
(32:05):
we're the best record in baseball. He gonna and the
Mets a second. He gonna see the Dodgers gonna win
it though, if we can get our pitching together. Come
on now, um, Aaron Judge is gonna see probably three
thirty million guaranteed by betting on himself. Man, he just
got another hundred that Trout money, man, he'll he'll approaching
(32:27):
four hundred. He want that Trout money, that Tatis money,
that my child old money, that Mookie Bats money, Bryce Harper,
Bryce Harper money. Literally bat on himself extra hundred million. Yeah, man, listen.
Sometimes sometimes sometimes it happens. You just happened to happen.
(32:50):
He just happened to have the best year of his
career going into his contract again. And so that's if
we're gonna transition that to Freddie Freeman played twelve years
with the Braves. Fifteen years in the organization, but twelve
years and the majors with I don't know if people
are real familiar with it. He wanted to resign with
(33:12):
the Braves. His agent sent the deal to the Braves,
like this is what it's gonna be taken or leave it.
Not only did they not leave it, they wouldn't trade
it for Matt Olsen from athletics, like within the next
day or so, Like, Okay, this is what you're gonna do.
We we're gonna show you what we're gonna do. We're
not gonna tell you nothing. We're gonna show you were
leaving it, And it was a lot of emotion when
(33:33):
he realized his time in Atlanta had come to went
in the Dodgers and the Braves have already played this year,
but it was in l A. He went back yesterday
to get his World series ring. Man. It was so
much emotion. And Freddie Freeman from southern California and Orange
County is a guy that I don't know much about,
but during the playoffs they showed his story a ton
(33:57):
and so I got familiar with him. The emotional guy
lost his mother at a early age. It's just him
his brother and his father married his son. Like he's
an emotional god soul. To see him yesterday get really
emotional when they presented him with his World series ring,
(34:17):
it was touching. What you think about that man when
you get your heart and soul to an organization man,
especially Atlanta Braids. Whatever was when when they was able
to when they first World Series a couple of years ago.
I mean, he was in the m v P and
two thousand and twenty. And you know, business always gets
in the way of of of us as professional athletes,
(34:42):
and you know it's it's in some instances. You know,
it's it's unfortunate for a guy like you know, Freddie Freeman.
He didn't want to leave Atlanta. They offered him was
a six year where he said uh, and and he
ended up signing with the Dodges for like a six
year they offered. The Dodger gave him more money to
(35:03):
Dotters off of them six years, hundred and sixty two million.
He didn't want to leave Atlanta, but the business side
of it got in a way. When you're when you
got you all with you already twelve thirteen years, and
you want to maximize your opportunity to make as much
money as you possibly playing. He's not going to leave
thirty two million dollars on the table. So he he
(35:23):
ends up with with the Dodgers, and with joining the Dodgers,
and he still has an opportunity to win the World
Championship because the Dogs all one of the best teams
in baseball. But for him to go back into receive
his ring, and you know, and to see the crowd
chanting his name, Freddy, Freddy, Freddy Man, it gets emotional
(35:44):
because you know, you you realize how much you appreciate it.
And um Man good for him man to go back
to be able to get his ring in Atlanta. But
professional sports, the business side of it can be cruel
and and we we we've all had to deal with
it at one or multiple times in our career, and
(36:07):
and and and that's just how the business part of
it goes. We don't always get what we want. But
you know what, the guys making more money. It's always that, man,
I want to stay here, but they're not offering me
the money that I want. You make a business decision,
They make a business decision. We both move on and
hopefully both parties are happy. The Dollar Shade Club six

in when Marto Lemue was still playing over the Civic Center,
malc and all those guys, Man, you got a chance
to I was there when they wanted two Stanley Cups.
(39:47):
So uh yeah, man, Pittsburgh hockey. Man, there's nothing like
it is the first hockey game I had ever been
to in my life, so you know, I've been a
Pens fan. Man. Unfortunately, I actually tweeted it out when
the when the Penguins were playing against the Rangers in
the playoffs, and I was like, go Pens, and and
I was getting a lot of blowback because it was
(40:09):
how you gonna be in New York and and and
and and not root for the Rangers. And I'm like, yo,
my first hockey game whenever went to it was in Pittsburgh, man,
So I'm I'm a Pens fan when it comes to hockey. Well,
I've never been to a game, but I've watched The
King When the Kings are playing in the playoffs, I
watched they're not playing. Um, I don't watch of them,
(40:31):
but you know, last night my son turned it on
and it was crazy. If you've been listening to the
show and you hear I low On trending the way
the Tampa baby, I thought that game was going in overtime.
Last night. I watched like literally the last four or
five minutes of the game. I thought it was going overtime. Yeah, Pisa,
my man, John Cooper. Man, I met John a few
(40:51):
years ago, play golf with him down in Tampa. So, man,
he's been doing a hell of a job with that
team and over the last two or three years. The
way the Tampa Bay Lightning won that game last night,
it was crazy. But I don't know if they're gonna
win this Stanley Cup finals. Man, they they fight. You
can never you can never count the Lightning out, man,
(41:13):
So you never know. Man, they're fighting uphill. I don't
believe they'll pull it out, but if they do, they'll
look back at last night's game and say that was
a turning point. Well, appreciate you guys for listening, for
locking in with us up on game. We'll be back
next week. Fox Sports Radio. We out LaVar, don't suck.
