Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Living the dream once again here on a fully loaded
NFL Sunday. This is Fox Sports Red Zone Radio and
we are broadcasting live from the tyrack dot com studios.

Speaker 3 (00:14):
Tyrack dot com.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
We're gonna help get you there an unmatched selection FATS reshipping, free,
road hazard protection, over ten thousand recommended installers, tire rack
dot com the way tire buying should be. We got
seven games kicking off around the NFL right now, Vikings
at Falcons, Cardinals at Browns, Rams at Packers, Commanders at Patriots,
Bears at the Saints, Seahawks of the Ravens, Buccaneers of

(00:38):
the Texans, and we got one game in the books
earlier today in Frankfurt, Germany, the Chiefs hang on to
beat the Dolphins by a score of twenty one two fourteen. Richie,
that game this morning was a very interesting game. I mean,
once again, we talk about a Dolphins team that a
lot of people are trying to believe in. Right, They've

(00:59):
beaten the Patriot's twice, they beat the Giants, they beat
the Panthers. Of course, they had that blowout win against
the Broncos and the Eke victory out in their open
against the Chargers, blowout loss of the Bills, blowout loss
to the Eagles, and then today they're down twenty one
to nothing in a halftime they came back. I think

(01:20):
the score was a little deceiving in the end. There
was a fumble return, strip sack and everything else. But
both these teams right now, as we talk about this
before we get to these other games, not quite where.
I think the hype is for both the Dolphins and
the Chiefs based on a.

Speaker 3 (01:38):
Lot of what I saw already earlier this morning.

Speaker 1 (01:41):
Well, well, think about all the dominant teams in the
NFL to start the season. We had a lot of
thoughts about what they would look like in the preseason,
the Bengals, the Dolphins, the Chiefs, the Philadelphia Eagles, the
San Francisco forty nine Ers, the Buffalo Bills, and look
how they all have panned out this season, all on shake. Now.

(02:01):
Some you look at the record of the Chiefs or
the Eagles, you say, well, yeah, I mean they may
be shaky, but their record certainly isn't right. That's true,
but they don't look as dominant as they did last year.
None of those teams I just listed. So it's one
of those weird seasons where everybody looks like they could
be caught, and oftentimes in these games it's a coin flip,

(02:25):
like especially when you're seeing either you know, I could
if you told me I was gonna wake up this
morning and the Dolphins would have won, or the Chiefs,
I would have told you, oh, yeah, that makes perfect sense.
I could make an argument for both of those. Meanwhile,
last year, the Chiefs were on a war path. Last year,
the Eagles were on a war path, and it sort
of felt like we were just painting arrows in the

(02:46):
grass heading to the Super Bowl for both of those teams,
and it's just not so this year.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
Well, I look at the AFC right now, and I
know the Chiefs would that win and go to seven
and two. Currently, as far as the seedings are concerned,
Chiefs would be the one see Jags, two Ravens, three Dolphins,
four Steelers, five Bills six Brown seven.

Speaker 1 (03:06):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
But my two teams right now in the AFC that
I think are at the top of the list based
on what I'm seeing right now are the Ravens and
the Bengals. I'm very anxious to see the Bengals obviously
going up against the Bills today, But the Bengals are
back on track with a much healthier Joe Burrow, and
the Ravens have well Lamar Jackson back, plus everything else

(03:29):
going for them. So right now, when I look at
the AFC, my top two teams currently in the moment
Ravens Bengals.

Speaker 1 (03:38):
Okay, I do have to say my top two teams
are Kansas City and Miami. Still, however, I will say this,
and that's in terms of power rankings, not in terms
of their records. Obviously, like you said, it's case Jacksonville
Baltimore than the Dolphins, but I still think the Dolphins
and the Chiefs are the class of the AFC. However,

(03:59):
I will say this, I made the proclamation last week
the Bengals are back, and I said it right before
kickoff of the San Francisco forty nine Ers attempt to
down the Bengals and they got mopped up. Rock Perdy
still doesn't look like himself and Joe Burrow is back
very much. So if the Bengals lose today to the
Bills and they dropped to a form four record, do

(04:20):
you still take them seriously as a super Bowl contender.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
I don't, but I don't think that's gonna happen.

Speaker 2 (04:25):
I think that again, the Bills have been a You
talk about preseason hype and not living up to it,
the Bills have been exactly that. And the Bengals what
they did of the forty nine ers last week their
full throttle again, they got their offense back.

Speaker 3 (04:40):
This is a team.

Speaker 2 (04:41):
Of course, I'm a little biased, since I did you
go out in the limb and pick the Bengals to
win the Super Bowl before the season began. But I'm
beginning to see the Bengals that I expected to see
at the beginning, not really fully understanding that injury to
Joe Burrows. So look, if the Bengals lose at home
today to the Bills, obviously that changes a lot lot
of it. But if the Bengals win today, it only

(05:03):
emphasizes what I already believe. By the way, a quick reminder,
four teams have a buy the Broncos, who are obviously
playing much better football, and then he got three of
the big teams. You know, Lions. Chris can rest today.
He doesn't have to worry about his Lions today. The
forty nine ers, who are on that losing skid and
this Jaguars team. I've been asked more rich about the

(05:24):
Jaguars than any other team, like do you buy into
the Jaguars? And I say I buy into them. I mean,
the record is what it is. But if you're asking me,
are they a super Bowl contender? No, I'm not quite
there yet.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
Well. Here, here's the crazy thing about this season is
I can make an argument for probably two or three teams.
I would say at least two, if not three teams
in each conference in terms of contending for the Super Bowl.
And the more you think about it, the harder it
is to eliminate some teams at the top. And it's

(06:00):
not because Wow, there are so many great teams to
pick them pick from. It's more, wow, you know all
these teams that are typically so dominant really are playing
down to level of competition. Know you just mentioned the
Bills against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. That did feel like
a little bit of survival. Like the Bucks, they showed up,

(06:20):
they played hard football, you know what they do defensively,
Baker Mayfield did enough offensively to keep them in the game,
but ultimately Josh Allen had one of his better nights
that night against the Bucks. So yeah, I mean, like
the Bills are one of those teams, the Ravens, But
how much do you want to depend or rely on
the Ravens because you know how much hinges on Lamar

(06:41):
Jackson's health, which has been inconsistent over the past two seasons.
You look at the Dolphins, same problem. Two is great
when he's healthy, is he going to remain healthy the
whole season? Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs they just don't
look like they're on the same page with their receivers. Yet.
You switch over to the NFL. The Philadelphia Eagles, they're

(07:02):
squeaking by against just about every team they play. It
was two near misses against the Commanders. There have been
so many close games this season for the Eagles. The
forty nine ers are on a skid. The Detroit Lions. Yeah,
you want to get behind Dan Campbell and what he's doing,
but it's the Detroit Lions. Like I could make an
argument for so many different teams, and also I could

(07:23):
make an argument against so many teams this year is
this is the most parody we've seen in the NFL
in a long long time.

Speaker 3 (07:29):
I agree with the one hundred percent on that.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
By the way, it is Week nine, which is the
official halfway point of this NFL season, and as we
sit here and argue about teams, we really don't have
a clear cut favorite. I mean Eagles obviously hosting the
Cowboys later we'll see how that all plays out. But
even the Eagles have been wildly inconsistent, have not looked

(07:52):
at least at the level we saw at the end
of last year when they could have come away with
a Super Bowl victory. Now one other thing, when we
still await our first score of the game, Wait, we
have a Tampa field goals. So the Bucks on their
opening drive to get a field goal, take an early
three to nothing lead on the Houston Texans. Mike Florio
of Pro Football Talk absolutely lambassed Patriots football. He said

(08:15):
this with the latest by the way, the Patriots are
dead last in the AFC. They're the only two and
sixteen in the AFC. They are sixteen out of sixteen
currently right now. And of course, we also had the
fallout of Josh McDaniels with the Raiders, and each side
of the fact that with the possible exception of Bill
O'Brien's brief run with the Texans. All other disciples of

(08:36):
Bill Belichick have failed in the NFL, and they concluded
this argument about the Patriot Way being dead with this
it doesn't work, and without Brady it never would have.
So this whole idea of the Belichick way and all
his disciples with the my way or the highway doesn't

(08:57):
fly anymore.

Speaker 3 (08:57):
It's tried.

Speaker 2 (08:58):
I mean, we've now got this Jay Glazer report that
it was an absolute revolt from the Raiders players. They
absolutely eviscerated Josh McDaniels.

Speaker 1 (09:08):
And coaches, by the way, and.

Speaker 2 (09:09):
Coaches, you know, Antonio appears stepped up and said, you know,
we gotta believe in the raid Away. By the way,
this is exactly what happened in my day with the
Raiders with Mike Shanahan. So we had had John Maddin
and Tom Floores Raiders and then you bring in an
outsider and the players revolted. Four games into the second season,

(09:30):
he's shown the highway and they put a Raider back
in charge, Art Shell, and two years later they're in
the AFC Championship Game. So I understand where Mark Davis
is coming from. He wants someone that believes in the Raiders,
not someone that is going to adhere to the Belichick
way is the right way, the only way to do this.

(09:52):
And as we are further removed now from the Brady
era in New England, it's not pretty rich. I know
you're a big defender Bill Belichick. His record speaks for itself.
He's on the Mount Rushmore of NFL coaches based on
his record, because that's all I can judge a coach
on is wins and losses. He's won more Super Bowls
than any other coach. But this idea that his way

(10:14):
was the right way, dismissing the fact that Tom Brady
may have been the key cog in the incredible success
they had over two decades.

Speaker 4 (10:24):
Well, we have our first touchdown of the day belongs
to beagents to Cole Khmet over the back catch WO
means the end zone bears of the first touchdown of
the day for.

Speaker 2 (10:36):
US Beijing trying to bounce back after a disappointing game.
But what I mean, you are a Patriot. You were
drafted by this organization, and now this organization with the
Patriots sitting at the bottom of the AFC. The dismissal
of Josh mcdano's by the Raiders are taking big hits,
and now a guy like Mike Florio pretty respected guys,

(10:56):
saying the only reason the Patriot Way ever worked was
Tom Brady.

Speaker 1 (11:01):
Well, let's face it, if you look at Joe Walsh,
or excuse me, if you look at Bill Walsh and
you see how he did it in San Francisco, is
there coach wallsh without a quarterback Montana? You know, if
you look at Pete Carroll, do we herald Pete Carroll

(11:22):
as much as we do if there wasn't Russell Wilson,
you know, Tony dungeye without a Peyton Manning. Yeah, I
mean I understand the argument. I get it. Yes, you're
absolutely right you need a special quarterback in order to
have success in this league. But but that's true for
every head coach. I mean, with very few exceptions, there

(11:46):
are almost no head coaches who are in the Hall
of Fame who didn't have a Hall of Fame quarterback
playing in his system. It's it's it's remarkable because you
need each other to have that level of success. You
need alture builder and a head coach, which Belichick clearly
is one, and you need an excellent quarterback, who's whip

(12:06):
smart and can make all the throws, and who can
lead men. And obviously that was Tom Brady. And the
same is true for just about every Hall of Fame
head coach quarterback tandem. So I don't understand why this
surprises anybody. Like when the debate first started after Tom
Brady left, like who made who? Tom Brady or Bill Belichick.

(12:27):
I've been saying this from the jump, and you know
it's Steve. We've been working together for a decade. They
made each other. There's no Tom Brady without Bill Belichick.
There is no Bill Belichick without Tom Brady. They needed
one another in order to have the level of success
they had for those years. Now, don't get me wrong,
tom Brady went over to Tampa Bay joined already made

(12:49):
roster and another good culture builder and a head coach
with Bruce Arians, and won a Super Bowl there. It
lasted one season and then things started to fall apart
because I don't think he really believed in the Arians way.
That's my opinion, and it really it sort of worked
out that way where it felt like Arians got forced
out and took a cush job in the front office

(13:11):
and golfed a whole lot while Tom Brady took over
that team for his final year in Tampa Bay. But yeah,
I mean you need to have both. So anybody who's
out there trying to dismiss what Tom Brady or excuse me,
what Bill Belichick did during the Tom Brady years in
New England, either A doesn't know football or B has
an ax to grind.

Speaker 3 (13:32):
So there you go.

Speaker 2 (13:33):
And of course, if this continues on, I mean, if
the Patriots go four and thirteen this year, which is
a real possibility as they sit at two and six
right now, is Belichick safe as a coach?

Speaker 3 (13:46):
I mean with everything he's done.

Speaker 1 (13:48):
Of course. Look look and Belichick knows this too. Now,
this isn't anything that's new to football. Either everybody gets fired.
You either retire or you're shown the door and you
get to tender your resignation or you're fired. Like that's
how this works. You know, you're either the person who

(14:09):
says I can't do it anymore at the level that's
that we've all grown accustomed to, so I have to
step away, or somebody does it for you. So yeah, absolutely,
If Bill Belichick turns in another poor season, of course,
his head could be on the chopping block. And nobody
knows that better than Bill Belichick because how many players
has he shipped off out of New England before their time? Right?

(14:32):
I mean you can count them. Wes Welker he still
had some good years left in him, he got rid
of him. Vince Wolfork he still had some good years
that left in him, got rid of him. But Tom
Brady clearly still had good years left in him, got
rid of him. It's how it's the Patriot way. You
don't let anybody get too old or too rich on
your roster before the or i should say after they

(14:54):
stop contributing to what makes the Patriots great. And that
the same goes for Bill Bella and he knows it.
And as a result, you're starting to hear him talk
more and more about the past successes. You're starting to
hear him, you know, talk about his resume over the years.
He's defending himself as a head coach, because it's survival
at this point. If you're if you have people calling

(15:15):
for your job like many are right now in New
England around that media market, but also nationally like this
report has shown, you've got to defend yourself if you
still want to coach. And that's where Bill Belichick is
right now. He's in defending himself mode. He still wants
to coach, clearly, that's the truth, and I think he
wants to prove that he can do it without Tom Brady.

(15:35):
That question still remains.

Speaker 2 (15:37):
All right, we are just getting started here a busy
Sunday in the NFL.

Here's the snap booting left a block from blashing game
beige at the throw into the end zone for comment
a diving catch. Oh that was a wonderful grabbing the
end zone. Christ touchdown hit super tight coverage. How he
came up with it, I don't know, but co commit
reached out head sucked that pigs get in touchdown.

Speaker 3 (17:25):
Bears eighteen yards and a beauty Wow.

Speaker 2 (17:31):
Beigent Man the secret beige in Man. Yeah, Bears Radio Network,
right there, Tyson Beige in the touchdown pass to get
things started. And guess what he just threw an interception.
Oh come, wow, he just threw a picks not so
serious secrets out and nothing. This is Fox Sports Red

(17:53):
Zone Radio. We are live from the tairaq dot com studios. Yeah,
agent wasn't ready for prime time in that charger lit
a week ago, but still a fun story. Division two
quarterback out of Shepherd starting, you know, until they get
justin fields back. And as I said before, the thing
about Beigen that impresses me is that he has that

(18:15):
air on the field that I belong you know what
I mean. That's the one thing quarterbacks have a certain presence.
And Will Levis is showing this even though he wasn't
able to, you know, win on Thursday. You can just
sort of tell by their demeanor that I belong. I
feel like I am belonging in the NFL. For a

(18:38):
young quarterback, that's huge.

Speaker 1 (18:39):
Yeah, and everybody feels it. It's the reason why a
guy like Brock Purdy can step in and take a
team all the way to the NFC Championship Game. It's
the reason why Dak Prescott, a fourth round pick out
of Mississippi State, can step in after two quarterbacks go
down get injured in the preseason, and lead a Dallas
Cowboys team to years and years of success. It's the

(19:00):
reason why Tom Brady can get his start after several
injuries and end up becoming the greatest football player to
ever walk planet Earth. It starts with confidence. It starts
with confidence. If you don't have belief in yourself, nobody's
gonna believe in you. Bagent at very least has belief
in himself.

Speaker 2 (19:18):
All right, one quick score here, Falcons have an early
three to nothing lead on the Vikings.

Speaker 3 (19:23):
It was unbelievable.

Speaker 2 (19:24):
Kirk Cousins having a great year, goes down with the
blown Achilles. They're starting the rookie today, Jaren Hall out
of BYU fifth round pick, and so far so good.
He in fact, is five for five seventy eight yards
and he's got the Vikings right now in the red zone.
Of course, they picked up Joshua Dobbs from Arizona, which,

(19:46):
by the way, leaves Arizona without a quarterback. This week
because Kyler Murray is still not ready.

Speaker 3 (19:52):
What is the deal with Kyler Murray?

Speaker 1 (19:54):
Well, Kyler Murray's coming back from a severe knee injury.
I mean severe knee your injury. We knew that.

Speaker 3 (20:01):
Is he coming back at all?

Speaker 1 (20:02):
Well, of course, I mean just but think about the timeline, Steve.
I mean, this is this is right in lockstep with
what typically we see, you know, running backs, wide receivers
start to get back to the playing field in terms
of practicing and working out on a side field and
trying to see if the knee is right and ready.
You got to get over some mental hurdles before you

(20:25):
fully trust your lower body. And what makes Kyler Murray special?
Is it his presence in the pocket? Is it his
ability to you know, drive into a pass, you know,
twenty five yards over the middle while throwing through a
congested passing lane. Now, he's five foot eight. His game
is all about being an athlete. So he needs more

(20:45):
than other quarterbacks in this league who are recovering from
ACL tears. He needs that thing to be one hundred
percent or as close to it as possible to be
effective because that's where his game is. He's He's a
Lamar Jackson type. What makes Lamar Jackson so special is
his athleticism. Now, he does have a good arm, and
he has shown, especially in this new offense in Baltimore,

(21:07):
he's been able to throw the ball more proficiently than
years past. But Kyler Murray his game is about being
an athlete, so it may take him longer to get back.

Speaker 2 (21:15):
By the way, another fifth round pick in the draft
this year is starting four Arizona Clayton Tune Yep, Well,
I tell you can talk about a week for a
quarterback Clayton Tune out of Houston. So two fifth round
pick rookies are starting this week in the NFL. So
that's how crazy it is with the quarterback situation around

(21:36):
the league. The Rams at the Packers, Jordan Love is
sitting at two and five. It does not look good.
Is it going to get any better for Love in
the Packers?

Speaker 1 (21:49):
Well, listen, it's up to him. You know. I think
I think Matt Lafleur is doing what he should do.
He's finding out if this guy can play football at
level and in Matt Lafleur's system. Now, they're not going
to curtail a system and change everything wholesale because Jordan
Love is supposed to be the guy. You know, you

(22:10):
would do that for an incoming quarterback like Aaron Rodgers
going to New York.

Speaker 9 (22:16):
You know.

Speaker 1 (22:16):
Now, granted, they brought in his old offensive coordinator who
had just been fired as the head coach in Denver,
and so they were completely debuting a new offense, but
it was including Aaron Rodgers. In the case of Jordan Love,
he got to Green Bay, he got an opportunity to
be Aaron Rodgers understudy for three years and then finally
get his opportunity to play and guess what, He's gonna

(22:36):
have to operate in this system. And if he can't,
they're gonna go and find a different quarterback in the draft.
I can promise you that, all right. So this is
his dress rehearsal.

Speaker 2 (22:44):
All right, So we got a lot of question marks,
a lot of interesting lineups this week Week nine around
the National Football League. Let's find out what is trending
right now as we walk a monsie into the mix,
throwing it out ready, I.

Speaker 10 (23:04):
Am exactly because new Vikings quarterback Jaron Hall just took
a really bad hit near the goal line, and it
looks like Joshua Dobbs is warming up and whoa.

Speaker 11 (23:13):
Yeah, like that's he just got there like.

Speaker 2 (23:15):
Yesterday, did he correct? Yeah, well Dobbs. Dobs can run
a little bit for sure.

Speaker 12 (23:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (23:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 11 (23:21):
So we're going to run. I don't know how to.

Speaker 4 (23:25):
And if he's not open, just run, for the love
of God, remember to run.

Speaker 11 (23:30):
Just run, stay alive, just run. Oh yeah.

Speaker 10 (23:33):
So it looks like that's that's a situation currently going
on with the Vikings and the Falcons. That game is
tied at three apiece late in the first quarter. That's
what you were looking at.

Speaker 11 (23:42):
That's what I was doing. I was literally listening. When
you cut to me, I was like, oh, I'm sorry,
I'm sorry.

Speaker 1 (23:47):
Uh.

Speaker 10 (23:47):
Several games are still scoreless, like the Cardinals and the Browns,
along with the Rams and the Packers, both of those
late in the first as well. The Commanders on the
scoreboard first against the Patriots with a field goal late
in the first so they're up three zero the Bears.

Speaker 11 (23:59):
That was a crazy catch by Cole Kment.

Speaker 10 (24:01):
If you guys did not see it, it was so
good by Tyson Bagent. So they're beating the Saints seven zero.
But the Saints are at Chicago's nine yard line of
first in goal with a little over two minutes to
go in the first quarter. Seahawks Ravens still scoreless late
in the first and the Texans up on the Buccaneers.
It was a mister C. J. Stroud who found Nico
Collins in the end zone. So the Texans beating the

(24:23):
Buccaneers seven to three, but the Bucks again in the
red zone third.

Speaker 11 (24:27):
And sixteen, not looking so good four minutes in the
first quarter. On that one.

Speaker 10 (24:31):
Other NFL news, the Chargers have placed wide receiver Joshua
Palmer on injured reserve. Steelers wide receiver Deontae Johnson was
fined twenty five thousand dollars for basically blaming the officiating
during Week eight after.

Speaker 11 (24:45):
They lost to the Jaguars.

Speaker 10 (24:46):
He straight up said the Jaguars won because of the officiating.

Speaker 1 (24:50):
Wow.

Speaker 10 (24:50):
Yeah, Like if the comments were He's like, I don't
care they were.

Speaker 3 (24:53):
They wanted them to war the officiating.

Speaker 1 (24:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 11 (24:56):
So he was fined late twenty five thousand dollars. That's
a lot of money. That's a lot of doh. I
mean for me, i'd cry.

Speaker 10 (25:03):
I think for most of us here would be crickly
and in Germany.

Speaker 11 (25:09):
You know, I did you guys see that last play?
Was it a bad snap?

Speaker 2 (25:14):
Dal where it was he was looking at? So tour
was lined up? They did just call a time out. Yes,
So they're about to snap the ball and they call
it time out. He was looking to his right to
get things set up. All was still not snap. Yeah,
but he wasn't lying up directly behind the center.

Speaker 3 (25:31):
He looked like he was.

Speaker 11 (25:32):
A little bit off to the side. I agree with that.

Speaker 2 (25:34):
The center snap sort of came back straight to his
right and it got away from it.

Speaker 10 (25:38):
And it got away from him and they didn't even
have a chance. I mean, the Chiefs.

Speaker 11 (25:41):
Didn't score in the second half, no like, but they
held on.

Speaker 3 (25:44):
The Chiefs offense again scored two times.

Speaker 11 (25:46):
Two times, correct, that's it.

Speaker 10 (25:48):
They ended up holding on beating the Dolphins in Germany
twenty one to fourteen. So the Chiefs improved to seven
and two. The Dolphins are now six and three. Patrick
Mahomes completed twenty of thirty passes for one hundred and
eighty five yards to touchdowns Tuatogo by loa twenty one
of thirty four for one hundred and ninety three yards,
and that one touchdown.

Speaker 11 (26:06):
Back to you guys, all right, Monzi, thank you very much.

Speaker 3 (26:08):
U get ready for the next time.

Speaker 11 (26:10):
Yes, y know, I'll be ready. I was paying at
touch it. I was like, Joshua Dogs, he's in. Yep,
he's in. Officially, I think he's in.

Speaker 3 (26:17):
All this here.

Speaker 2 (26:18):
Our heads are spinning because we're trying to keep track
of seven games simultaneously. By the way, we're brought to
you by Progressive Insurance, Progressive makes bundling easy and affordable.

Steve Hartman and Rich Ornberg are with you giving you
all the latest news. And the Buccaneers did score to

(26:40):
retake the lead ten to seven. Baker Mayfield off to
a good start in this game. He is six of
eight eighty six yards and a touchdown pass, so he
continues to play pretty well. By the way Rich, seven
games kicking off this morning here, not counting the earlier game.
Of the seven games that just kicked off, five of
the seven games are matchups where both teams are five

(27:03):
hundred or below right, So five of the seven games,
the teams are five hundred are below. Chris, you said
you got into a little scuttle but on Twitter slash
x is that when somebody was talking about how is
it that in Week nine were stuck with so many
dog games?

Speaker 3 (27:22):
Yeah, in the NFL.

Speaker 4 (27:24):
Again, I do want to preface this, and many people
will say, oh, Chris, you're lying about this, like this
happens all the time, But I don't. I really mean this.
I don't get in a lot of fights on Twitter.
I avoid them, like like the devil. And someone said
the NFL is putting out one of its worst ever
slates of football this weekend. That's crazy, and his argument
was that there's only four good games, and my argument

(27:46):
back is, yeah, but each of those four games are
in a separate slate. You have a good game in
each slate, and the second order of games, you've got
Texans Bucks, which is interesting. You've got it to see
if the Panthers are going to stack another win. This
Jets Chargers game could feed for Brandon State's job. And
there's always a game, a surprise game that's exciting. But

(28:06):
like I understand, there's a lot of losing record versus
losing record. I understand there's a lot of guys who
probably shouldn't be in the NFL playing quarterback, but this
is still a better slate than most weeks.

Speaker 1 (28:19):
Oh yeah, now I back you up one Raven Seahawks
that has serious juice. I would argue, I don't know
about Colts Panthers, but I'm really interested in Cowboys, Eagles,
Bill's Bengals. We just saw Dolphins, Chiefs. We woke up
this morning to that a completely well we just.

Speaker 3 (28:38):
Named the four games that he was talking about.

Speaker 4 (28:40):
The rest of it is well, well, his second tier,
but it's not like I mean, I'm still very interested
in this Bear Saints game. It might not look great,
but like it's third TV content.

Speaker 2 (28:49):
Does anybody playing fantasy football give a crap about matchups?
I mean seriously no, I mean over half of the
people that I mean follow the NFL religiously, where they're
following every game, are doing so not based on the
teams on the field that's funny things, or they're betting
on games.

Speaker 4 (29:05):
The guy I got the argument with was a fantasy guy, though,
so I don't I don't know if this is just
fantasy guys.

Speaker 2 (29:11):
Don't like bigotball. Maybe his quarterbacks are sitting on the side.
Ye yes, maybe.

Speaker 1 (29:15):
Again that's another boo who because Yeah, I get it,
your fantasy football team got ruined because there were injuries
this week and a lot of quarterbacks are banged up
around bye weeks. I get that.

Speaker 3 (29:25):
But we've got two of the best teams in the
league on buy right now too. But by the way,
to help that.

Speaker 1 (29:30):
Both the Falcons and the Vikings are playing for are
playing for the playoff standings, you know you Look, I
mean there's several games here that have significant playoff implications.
Buccaneers Texans like you mentioned. I mean, you're talking about
two teams that have sights on their division. Again, a
lot of work to do in both categories. But Cee J.

(29:51):
Stroud and Baker Mayfield, I think both have been shots
in the arm for those franchises. Look, I'm an NFL fan,
and when I say that, I have zero allegiance to
any team in the NFL. I just love watching football
as a former player, So that's about as far as
it goes. If I have any fantasy or gambling plays,
you know, I'll be honest about that. But the reality is.

(30:13):
I've seen far worse weeks in terms of the interest
or that the angles or the action in the NFL.
This this is a pretty good week. I agree.

Speaker 4 (30:22):
There's a lot of afternoon slates where I just don't like.
By the way, I did just see report Jaron Hall
has been downgraded to out with a concussion.

Speaker 2 (30:30):
All right, So that means that we're gonna see Joshua
Dobbs making his debut, even if he doesn't know a
single play in the Vikings playbook correct one.

Speaker 1 (30:38):
Was Otherwise, it's going to be a tight end.

Speaker 13 (30:40):
Who the emergency quarterback is for Minnesota? I do not
it is a running back cam Akers.

Speaker 1 (30:45):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (30:46):
I was gonna say fran Tarkington, but I don't know
if Frank can.

Speaker 1 (30:51):
I would assume it would be Kevin o'connelly played pretty
good quarterback at San Diego.

Speaker 13 (30:55):
Can we get Brett Farve out of retirement one more time?

Speaker 1 (30:57):
But speaking of the Vikings legend Brett Farve, well.

Speaker 2 (31:01):
He did lead him to an NFC championship game until
he threw an ill time interception. Uh Jordan Love and
the Packers are on the board seven to nothing. Later
on an Aaron Jores Jones run. Meanwhile, the Rams with
Brett Rippin at quarterback today, no Matthew Stafford ripping right now,
the Rams have negative one net yards passing as we're

(31:25):
into the second quarter of that game. So that again,
we got some I will say this, I mean we
got some quarterbacks that you would be hard pressed to
find or identify in a lineup.

Speaker 1 (31:36):
Oh yeah, no, no, no, yeah. You put Brett Rippin,
Jaren Hall, and frankly Josh Dobbs in a lineup.

Speaker 3 (31:42):
Is Clayton tune?

Speaker 1 (31:44):
Clayton Tone you say, you say, pick Clayton out of
the lineup, You're gonna have an awful hard time.

Speaker 4 (31:49):
Look, claytontuone feels like a name like that one woman
on TikTok, who's like that guy back there on the
plane is not real.

Speaker 3 (31:56):
Well, when you.

Speaker 2 (31:57):
Have Tyler Agel, it's one of the more recognizable games
starting at quarterback today.

Speaker 1 (32:03):
That's not great.

Speaker 3 (32:04):
That tells you a lot.

Speaker 2 (32:05):
By the way, no score right now between the Seahawks
and the Ravens. Reckerwise, this is by far the best
game going on right now. You know, we talked a
lot about the Ravens. A Lamar Jackson is back. The
new offense seems to agree with him, although it looks
strangely like their old offense. You know, he's still running
the ball effectively, passing the ball efficiently.

Speaker 3 (32:25):
But there are the Seahawks again. I was not a believer.

Speaker 2 (32:28):
I thought a lot of things went the Seahawks way
last year to get to nine and eight, to get
into the postseason. Gino Smith like this dream year, but
the right back at it rich five and two and
leading the NFC West.

Speaker 3 (32:42):
Now the forty nine ers are on a three game
losing streak.

Speaker 1 (32:45):
Well, yeah, yeah, I mean it's it's Pete Carroll, it's
Gino Smith. What did we talk about earlier With quarterbacks
and head coaches, You need a culture builder. You need
somebody who knows how to handle a roster, knows how
to shape out what positions need that you absolutely need
to address, and then you need to have a quarterback.

(33:05):
Fortunately for Pete Carroll, gambling on sending Russell Wilson to
the Denver Broncos, which was a gamble, worked out to
his benefit because they had an accurate profile on what
Gino Smith could eventually be. Now, he was steeped in
a training camp battle with Drew Locke before last season
and all the success he enjoyed. But they gave the

(33:27):
ball to the right guy and he led the Seahawks
to a great season. So we're watching we're watching a
revival of two careers in my opinion, because it started
going downhill with Russell Wilson there toward the end of
his tenure with the Seahawks and Pete Carroll. Very similar
with Joe Flacco and John Harbaugh. And then all of
a sudden, here comes Lamar Jackson and there's wind beneath

(33:51):
his wings again, and you know, John Harbaugh got the
pressure off him. There were hot seat conversations in Seattle
about Pete Carroll and then all of a sudden, Gino
Smith here we go, you know, because it very much
felt like an adversarial relationship before Russell left Seattle between
he and Pete Carroll, and there's none of that with

(34:11):
Gino Smith. And they're having another successful start.

Speaker 3 (34:14):
All right.

Speaker 2 (34:15):
So the Ravens right now just got into the end
zone touchdown Edwards on the short run, so they take
an early six to nothing lead, penning the extra point. Meanwhile,
Sam Hawe is carving up the Patriots ten nothing commanders
in New England. Remember New England is one in three
at home this year. Mac Jones hasn't done much of anything.

(34:37):
So a Patriot team that sits alone a bottom of
the AFC standings at two and six, off to a
rough start today. All right again, we got a lot
of things to talk about today, a lot of games
going on. Keep it right here, much more coming up.
This is Fox Sports Red Zone Radio.

Speaker 5 (34:53):
Lamar from under center, Gosh Edwards alone to the backfield
to give us the bus straight up the midtal he's
got a hole.

Speaker 11 (34:58):
He flipped it.

Speaker 1 (34:59):
Touch God Raven.

Speaker 5 (35:03):
And the bus rolls into the end zone for a
fourth time in the last two weeks.

Speaker 2 (35:08):
That's ninety eight Rock Ravens Radio Network. Gus Edwards with
the score. Ravens with the early seven to nothing lead
over the Seahawks.

Speaker 3 (35:16):
Once again. This is Fox Sports Red Zone Radio.

Speaker 2 (35:18):
Steve Hartman and Rich Ornberger with you apply from the
tire rack dot Com Studios. Quick rundown of the SCORBA
right now. Falcons just got a two run home run
akaas safety to take a five to three lead over
the Vikings. Browns three nothing over the Cardinals, Packers, seven
to nothing over the Rams, Commander's lead at New England
ten zip. Bears and Saints are tied at seven. Ravens,

(35:41):
as we mentioned, lead the Seahawks seven nothing, Buccaneers ten
to seven on the road against the Texans second quarter action.
All these games and with so many no name quarterbacks
in some of these games, predictably, offenses are struggling so far.

Speaker 1 (35:57):
Yeah, there's no doubt that. When you have a lot
of new coordinators around the National Football League and now
this week Week nine, a lot of new quarterbacks starting
for teams that either a they weren't playing for to
start the season or be weren't starting for to start
this season, you're gonna see a little bit of an
offensive suppression. And I believe we've seen that for those

(36:19):
reasons this year. We talked about this last weekend also, Steve,
you know, think about how many players are working with
a new coordinator. As a quarterback, Lamar Jackson working with
a new coordinator, Justin Herbert working with a new coordinator,
coordinator Matt Nagi comes back to Kansas City. So Patrick
Mahomes working with a new coordinator, Mac Jones. He's working

(36:42):
with Billy O'Brien. That's his third offensive coordinator in as
many years. So there's a lot of starting quarterbacks who
started out the season with different coordinators or have had
a coordinator changed. Dak Prescott, he went from Kellen Moore
to Mike McCarthy. Now who's the lead play caller. It's
a ton and I think a lot of these quarterbacks

(37:02):
are having a hard time adjusting to the new voice
in the headset.

Speaker 2 (37:06):
The Cleveland Browns, if the season ended today, would be
in the playoffs, which is pretty amazing considering how little
Deshaun Watson has played. Now he's back today, he'd only
been a brief action for what was one pass before
he went down with the concussion. That wasn't a concussion,
of course, he's had that shoulder problem.

Speaker 3 (37:26):
So far, so good.

Speaker 2 (37:27):
Seven to ten and two yards, no touchdowns, no picks.
Browns have an early three to nothing lead against the Cardinals.
But that's a sneaky team the Browns. Their defense is outstanding,
they can run the ball, and if Deshaun Watson can
stay healthy and revert anywhere near the form he was
with the Texans, this is a team that could sneak

(37:50):
into the postseason.

Speaker 1 (37:51):
Oh, they wouldn't even be that sneaky. If you look
around the AFC and we get through some of the
top teams, a lot of the name games, you know,
the Browns are in that second tier of team and
close to the top of that second tier. And it
really does have a lot to do with that defense.
I mean, they have some game wreckers on that side

(38:11):
of the ball. It's led. It's a group led by
Miles Garrett, who should be in the conversation every year
for Defensive Player of the Year. He's sensational. But yeah,
what you just said about Deshaun Watson. This is a
team that committed two hundred and thirty million dollars guaranteed
to the quarterback position and they've gotten very little to
show from it. He was rusty last year. He had

(38:33):
all the excuses in the world because he's coming off
of a long suspension. He didn't look good, you know, Frankly,
I didn't look like Deshaun Watson, not Houston, Deshaun Watson
when he was bringing those Texans teams to the playoffs
with very little help, much better offense around him. Here
in Cleveland, you can argue a more stable franchise right

(38:55):
now compared to what he left in Houston with Billy O'Brien.
So yeah, there's no excuse to anymore Deshaun Watson. He
needs to start earning that.

Speaker 2 (39:05):
Salary, all right, stop the presses right now has scored
a touchdown. Yeah that's right, the New England Patriots. Mac
Jones to Hunter Henry touchdown. Patriots as they cut that
Commanders lead to ten to seven. And since we've never
seen Belichick in this situation before, where the team is

(39:27):
this bad, this deep into the season, every loss is
only gonna compound that. So at some point he got
to stop the bleeding. You're taking on a Commander's team
that's three and five, not exactly one of the elite
teams in the league.

Speaker 3 (39:43):
And at home.

Speaker 2 (39:44):
Remember the days when the Patriots never lost games at home? Yeah,
oh that's right, when Tom Brady never lost games at home.
They got to win this game, Rich, I mean, they
got to at some point stop the bleeding. I'm not
saying the Patriots ahead a tenny postseason run, but you
just can't con tinue to lose games at home, especially
when you're playing against teams you should beat note out

(40:05):
of ten times at home, like the Washington Commanders.

Speaker 1 (40:08):
Well, well, let me make an argument that they could
potentially be a playoff team this year. And I mean
this is going to sound like nails on a chalkboard
to hang you a hang, hang on. They beat the Commanders,
they beat the Colts, and they go on the road
to face the Chargers. That's a winnable football game, especially
the way the Chargers have looked this season. You can't

(40:30):
tell me that in this game, in next week's game
against the Colts and against the Chargers, they don't have
a puncher's chance.

Speaker 2 (40:36):
And if that's the case, you're basing this on Patriots passed?
How about Patriots present?

Speaker 1 (40:43):
They do?

Speaker 2 (40:43):
Defense hasn't showed up all year. Well, they've had some
bad games.

Speaker 1 (40:47):
They they've had some good games. I'm just saying, don't
count out. Really, B're not blaming you.

Speaker 2 (40:53):
Look they they plucked you off that Penn State roster
and gave you an opportunity to play in the NFL.

Speaker 3 (40:59):
You should be loyal to the Patriots. And no, they're
not going to be a playoff team.

Speaker 2 (41:02):
All right, much more coming up, Stay with us. This
is Fox Sports Red Zone Radio.

Speaker 9 (41:07):
Deshaun Watson focuses on the center post. It gets the
snap back to pass looking floats at and it's deflected
in the air, Lambs in their hands, a Cooper in
the end zone for a touchdown. Somebody for Arizona deflected
it at the line and it ballooned into the end
zone and into the hands of a Mari Cooper for
a Browns touchdown.

Speaker 3 (41:25):
That's the Browns Radio Network.

Speaker 2 (41:26):
Browns take a ten to nothing lead over the Cardinals
six minutes to go in the first half.

Speaker 3 (41:31):
In that game, you're listening in Fox Sports.

Speaker 2 (41:33):

the game coming up between the Giants and the Raiders.

Speaker 5 (41:58):
Now it's time for the nfl u FOS focus.

Speaker 2 (42:04):
It is right now one of our favorite Fox guys,
the great Mark Sanchez, joining us here on this fabulous
Sunday market. It's always great to catch up with you,
and it's certainly an interesting week to be there for
the Giants and the Raiders. After Josh McDaniels, the GM
everyone blown out by Mark Davis as the organization deemed

(42:27):
they were going in the wrong direction. What are you
hearing about what happened this week to McDaniels and the
rest that were sent packing.

Speaker 14 (42:36):
Well, first of all, mister Hartman, mister Ornberger, I'm fired
up to be on with you guys.

Speaker 1 (42:40):
Thank you number two, Yes, number two.

Speaker 14 (42:43):
Let's talk a little turkey here. I mean, it's been
an interesting week for this Raiders team, and you're seeing
all the articles come out as I kind of assumed
what happened. Everybody's getting their narratives out there as best
they can to you know, salvage reputations and try and
things positively, whatever it is. And the bottom line is

(43:03):
something wasn't right, and it sounds like they had a
you know, kind of a come to Jesus meeting as
a team, and it got well with some people, didn't
sit well with other people, and the ownership was kind
of forced to make a decision and felt like they
were forced to make a decision. So that's the kind
of way it shakes out. But the bottom line is,

(43:23):
just like any stories during the week, whether it's you know,
guys going down with injuries. You know, these these things
happen right during a season. This is obviously a big one.
But now it's okay, the ultimate meritocracy in this league,
What have you done for me lately? Are you going
to win? Regardless of who's the coach, And that's not minimizing,
you know, anybody's legacy or anybody's opportunity, whether it's McDaniels

(43:46):
or Antonio Pierce. It's just about, okay, results and it's
a result based league. So now what are they going
to come out with this surge of energy? My guess
is yes, because there's you know, this this wave of
emotions that goes on and some sort of positive energy.
But how long does that last and how does that
translate to what it comes down to every single week,

(44:08):
and that's stone cold, cold blooded execution, namely on third
down and in the red zone. Can they figure this out?
Can they get the ball to Devonte Adams? Can they
take pressure off this rookie quarterback Aidan O'Connell and get
Josh Jacobs going. I don't know what it's going to take,
but that was the best rushing attack in the league,
just about every single person's back and it's not the

(44:28):
same result. So what's the issue here. They got to
get that figured out if they want to be competitive
in this game. And you know the Giants are hungry
for a win too, they need it.

Speaker 1 (44:36):
We have a lot of new quarterbacks around the league
getting their first start or up of their first starts
this week in the NFL. Mark if you can rewind
back to your rookie year getting your first starts in
the league and what that looks like for a player
at that position, and we know how important that position is.
What's it like?

Speaker 14 (44:56):
Oh buddy, it's once again talk about a wave of
a moment and trying to just eliminate a lot of
the noise and keep yourself in a bubble and just
focus on what's important. And some of that stuff is
off the field stuff like when you get announced a
starter earlier in the week, You guys have no idea
how quickly your phone starts ringing and how quickly people

(45:19):
want tickets. And you find out you had cousins and
brothers and uncles that you never knew about. You know
what I mean, They've got number one. You better find
a ticket broker, like somebody in your family to just
delegate that responsibilities to. You could just stay in the
building and focus on what's important. You love to have
those people there, but it's like, hey man, give me,
give me some space here. I'll meet you in the
tunnel after the game and hopefully we win, you know.

(45:39):
So that's one thing that I remember, you know, vividly.
And then there's always something like either pregame, you see
somebody a coach, a friend, you know, a relative, or
somebody I happen to walk on the field with. With
the New York Jets were on the road at Houston
my very first game, and Joe Namaths is staying the

(45:59):
right outside our tunnel and I see him before our
game and I'm like, holy smokes, you know, like okay,
here we go, and he wants to talk for a
little bit, and hey man, have fun gohos playing it,
you know. So I'm so jazzed up about talking to him.
I didn't even take my ankles for the game. I
just forgot. I just didn't even think about it, went
out there, no ankle tape and just played the game.
And after the game I went to go get ankle cutters,

(46:20):
like the the razorblade thing, the tool to cut the
tape off your feet, and I pull off my socks.
I was like, oh my god, I didn't even take
my ankle. I don't even remember. So, I mean there's
stuff like that that is just silly, but I vividly remember.
And so the fights. To say, there's a million things
going and the most important thing is that game. But
naturally these distractions take some of your attention. So it's

(46:43):
how quickly can you focus in? And then more importantly,
how quickly can you get into the flow of the game,
Like get your completion, get hit maybe once or twice,
like get knocked down, not hard, but okay, boom, I'm
in the flow of the game. What's our situation? Cause
this game is just broken up into a million different
situations and scenarios, And how well can you master those
and how well can your team and your coordinator avoid

(47:06):
making you make all those decisions? You know what I mean?
A screen on third and long is better than calling
a dropback, maybe on a guy's first third and long
of his career, you know what I mean, Just get
him an easy completion, whether you get the first down
or not. The chances of getting that first down are
pretty low anyway. On third and long. You know, when
it's a third in to Walmart parking lot, forget it,
Just hand it off, call a draw, Just make it

(47:26):
easy on the guy so you don't have to make
him overprocess and overload him. But it's a heck of
a experience for these guys, something they'll remember forever.

Speaker 2 (47:35):
Well, let's not forget, of course. Mark Sanchez, in his
first two years in the NFL, led the Jets to
back to back AFC championship games, including four road playoff wins.
I like to remind the world of your resume.

Speaker 1 (47:46):
Mark, you know I appreciate it.

Speaker 2 (47:48):
Now let's talk about the Giants. I mean, yeah, the
Raiders have been bad. The Giants have been worse. They
made a commitment to Daniel Jones in the offseason, and
before his injury he played. He wasn't helping the cause,
let's put it that way. Now he's back. Everyone believed
that Brian Dable is like this magician. You know what
he did for Josh Allen and Buffalo seemingly a year ago,

(48:11):
he was doing the same thing with Daniel Jones.

Speaker 3 (48:13):
At the very least he wasn't making a lot of mistakes.

Speaker 2 (48:16):
And yeah, Daniel Jones gets the big contract and did
not play well before the injury. What should we expect
for Daniel Jones out that he's back under center or
in the shotgun for this Giants offense.

Speaker 14 (48:28):
Well, I think what's most important is one of the
reasons they've had such shortcomings in these games has been turnovers,
and that's, you know, something Daniel Jones needs to tighten up,
whether it's tumbles or interceptions. They just can't afford to
overcome some of those mistakes right now. Some teams around
the league can rally and they have the talent and
the roster, and they're lucky enough and fortunate enough to

(48:52):
keep guys healthy, so they can overcome a lot of
those things. But they've been decimated by injuries. With the Giants,
that entire roster is like Condon and turnover almost every week.
They're starting all these different offensive lineman combinations. They're missing
their two bookend tackles. You know, Darren Waller comes over
and has been in and out of the lineup, inconsistent
in games, Say Kwon Barkley in and out of the lineup,

(49:13):
so and Daniel Jones himself. So it's one of those
things where they just need opportunities to do this together,
to build a little camaraderie, to get a little momentum
all together and show that, hey man, we got our
best players out here. We got our best eleven on
the field. We're acquiring reps and experience together and hopefully

(49:33):
they can salvage some of the season because the defense
is starting to turn it on. Wink Martindale's got these
guys rolling. We'll see what happens with the loss of
Leonard Williams, right, they traded him to Seattle. So Ashaun
Robbinson's going to have to step up. A guy you
guys know from La with the Rams won a Super
Bowl there was originally in Detroit. Like, that's going to
be a big role for him and a big hole
to fill. But see how he shows up. But this

(49:54):
secondary is really rolling, and I mean, he can't say
enough good things about Kavon Thibodeau. So he had a
he had a heck of a game last week, disrupting
the quarterback. You know, cons and proms in the backfield
before these plays get started. They're going to need a
lot of that especially early, especially with the rookie quarterback.
But these are the kind of games midseason that are
kind of sinker swim right, like two roads diverged in

(50:16):
a yellow wood and you got to go take the
right road, you know what I'm saying, and turn your
season around.

Speaker 1 (50:21):
Yeah, and that's a tall task, especially with how both
of these seasons started. We're chatting with Mark Sanchez Fox
Sports Radio ahead of his call of the game between
the Raiders and the Giants. Want to stick with the
Giants for a second, because I've been critical of their
offensive line. Now you mentioned the injuries. Not a single
member of the Giants offensive line on opening Day has
played in every single game this season. It's been a

(50:42):
revolving door and they've looked like turnstiles as a result.
I'm critical of the offensive line. I think it's because
I spent my days in my career protecting quarterbacks, and
maybe I'm too sensitive to that now I'm still protecting quarterbacks.
I still don't want to put all the blame on
Daniel Jones, but when you watch the film and you
see how Jones was playing prior to his injury, and

(51:05):
you watch some of the sacks he took because he
took north of thirty sacks before that neck injury send
him to the bench. What did you see out there?
How many of the sacks were him holding the ball
too long, not reading blitz is properly, not understanding his
protection properly.

Speaker 14 (51:21):
Well, I think some of that, as you mentioned, is
communication upfront, and you know that just like I do.
Those guys have to be in sync and they develop
not just the terminology of the offense, but there's like
code words that these offensive linemens start using, and you
start developing your own language to block up certain stunts
and shifts and movements and blitzes and dogs from defenses.

(51:42):
And they're just not able to do that because there's
so many different guy He's playing at different positions across
the board. So one, that makes it tough. Two, you
are one hundred percent right, Daniel Jones has to get
rid of the ball. Bottom line is you're the guy
holding the ball. Every time you hold that ball, you
hold the hopes, dreams and aspirations of the entire higher organization.
You can't take sacks like that. Now, there's times during

(52:03):
a game when it's okay to take a sack, when
you're on the plus ten yard line, you lose a
couple of yards, take a sack, you got a field
goal anyway, like on a third down, no problem, cool,
I understand that. But a couple of those, he's got
to get rid of the football sooner, and that means
the receiver's got to look as well, especially on some
of those blitz looks. There's a couple of times where
Dana Jones wants to cut the ball loose and there's
nobody looking back at him, so he doesn't want to

(52:24):
throw a pick and he doesn't release the ball and
just gets clobbered. So those kind of things, there's plenty
of blame to go around. But the bottom line, just
like anything, when you're a quarterback in this league, you
know you're going to get the blame, you're going to
get the praise, and sometimes it's not all your fault,
whether it's good or bad.

Speaker 2 (52:40):
Well, it's a game where two teams are in desperate
need of a win. Giants at the Raiders. Mark Sanchez
will be there. Mark enjoy the game. We'll be watching.
Thanks as always for joining us.

Speaker 14 (52:51):
Absolutely, you guys are the best. Thanks for having me.

Speaker 2 (52:53):
That is Mark Sanchez there all right, coming up on
the other side, we're going to give you a full
update around the national football and at least one team
inspired by our own rich Ornberger.

Speaker 3 (53:06):
Wow, it's Fox Sports Red Zone Radio.

Speaker 5 (53:09):
Takes the step, dropping back, stands in, throws a high
ball court hitting the in zone, takes the catch, cuts
down Patriot's.

Speaker 9 (53:16):
Go throw, really good throw by Jones on a protocol
to Hunter, have we done a right scene?

Speaker 1 (53:20):
Don't play fake? You seem what I mean?

Speaker 3 (53:22):
He just gets to set the feet, read it and
he's able to throw that off time to Henry.

Speaker 2 (53:27):
That's the Patriots radio network, inspired by rich Arberger's faith
that they have a chance to get into the postseason.
They have now taken a fourteen to ten lead over
the Commanders inside a minute ago in the first half
in that game. This is Fox Sports Red Zone Radio.
We're live from the tai iraq dot Com studios. So

(53:49):
just like that, the Patriots overcoming early ten to nothing
deficit and have taken a fourteen to ten lead, Mac
Jones eight to fifteen, eighty two yards in a score
Ramandra Stevenson big sixty four yard run and again a
touchdown there. So the Pats apparently as we all know,
Belichick is not listening to his coaches with his headset

(54:12):
on the sidelines. No, not when we're on the air.
He's listening to us. He wants to hear what Rich
has to say, and he has got that team inspired
right now to take the lead over the awesome power
of the Washing Commanders.

Speaker 1 (54:25):
Yeah. Look, I think there's a lot of people who
look at a two win football team and rightfully so
write them off. The Patriots are in dead last of
the AFC right now, and so I get it. It's
easy to write off a team that's in dead last
week and nine. But I'm not ready to not when
you're coached by Bill Belichick, not when you have a

(54:47):
culture in place different, different, obviously different than it was
with Tom Brady, but in place where there's a certain
level of belief that I remember in New England, where
it didn't matter what the circumstances were, you had faith
that you could turn around a game, that you could
win a football game. And so the New England Patriots,

(55:09):
I'll always give them a puncher's chance, like pregame right now.
Occasionally you'll watch a game you'll be like, oh wow,
like the Cowboys, game like that got out of hand fast,
and the Patriots were underwater and they just couldn't do
anything right turning the football over. They played a very
unpatriot like game. But a game like this, even with
a disparity to start, I mean, we're just gonna hand

(55:30):
it to the Commanders, I don't think so. And are
we just going to hand the season over and say, well,
this is a lost season. I don't think so. This
is Bill Belichick, and the same way I feel about
Mike Tomlin is the same way I feel about Bill Belichick.
He's a great culture builder. It's tough to beat Bill Belichick,
same way as this tough to beat Mike Tomlin and
those Steelers. They'll find a way a lot of times.

(55:51):
And I'm looking forward to seeing how they respond second
half of the season as things begin to gel more.
Remember Mac Jones is working with this third straight offensive
coordinator in as many years. It's gonna take a little
while for him and Billy O'Brien to get on the
same page. They've dealt with some harrowing injuries defensively that
they're still reeling from from key playmakers. They're gonna try

(56:15):
to fix that. I'm not giving up on the Patriots.
Not all hope is lost.

Speaker 2 (56:19):
Yet, all right, let me run down the scores right
now again most of these games. Near the half, Falcons
have an eleven to ten lead over the Vikings.

Speaker 3 (56:28):
Vikings just scored.

Speaker 2 (56:29):
Brown's halftime lead thirteen to afteen over the Cardinals. Packers
with under a minute to go in the half lead
the Rams seven to three. It is halftime now, Patriots
over the Commander's fourteen to ten. Bears and Saints tied
at fourteen at halftime. Ravens inside a minute to go
there have a fourteen to three lead against the Seahawks
and two minute warning.

Speaker 3 (56:51):
First half.

Speaker 2 (56:51):
Buccaneers on the road have a seventeen to ten lead
over the Texans Vikings. Falcons. By the way, if you
don't know, the Vikings are all over the place. Jaron Hall,
the rookie out of BYU, was to get the start today.
They did pick up, as you know, Joshua Dobbs from
the Arizona Cardinals, hoping to buy a week before he

(57:14):
would have to see any action. He was forced into
the game when Jared Hall got hurt. And Dobbs has
played well. He's five h seven, he's forty nine yards passing,
and better than that, he just threw a touchdown pass
to Alexander Madison. So that's gotten the Vikings back in
this game. Falcons lead up by score eleven to ten.
By the way, Dobbs, he looked good early on for

(57:35):
the Cardinals. I was in the Phoenix area last month
and they were talking up Dobbs big and then after
that things went a little south. But at the very
least a Vikings team that's very much in the mix
for the playoffs. Dobbs is I think more than a
serviceable quarterback.

Speaker 1 (57:52):
Yeah, yeah, listen, I think Dobbs can play a little bit.
I certainly feel similarly about Josh Dobbs as a about
say Jimmy Garoppolo or a who else would I throw
in this category? You know I would throw. I would
throw a well Beigent has a lot to learn still,

(58:15):
But I mean, for years the way I felt about
Tarrod Taylor or Gino Smith before Gino Smith became a
starter with the Seattle Seahawks. Like he's he's a very
competent backup. He's not going to allow the wheels to
come completely off. Josh Dopps can play a little bit.

Speaker 2 (58:28):
All right, So you mentioned, of course one of our guys,
Tyson beaigent halftime Bears and Saints are tied to fourteen,
and look at Beagen's numbers, ten to thirteen, one hundred
and forty nine yards, two touchdowns. He did throw the
one pick, but also six carries for sixty yards.

Speaker 3 (58:46):
Yeah, in this first half.

Speaker 2 (58:48):
Derek carrs played well for the Saints fifteen and nineteen
hundred thirty seven yards and two touchdown passes in this game,
one to Chris Olave, the other to haysteom Hill. But
you know, getting back to Tyson Beagent, you know, when
Justin Fields does return, I don't know, are other teams
maybe looking at Tyson Beigen on the Bears holding him

(59:09):
as insurance because.

Speaker 3 (59:11):
I know he'd struggled a little bit last week.

Speaker 2 (59:13):
But the fact that he has bounced back this week
and played so well again talks about his demeanor and
his belief in himself.

Speaker 3 (59:20):
I'm high on Beijing. I like what I see.

Speaker 1 (59:23):
Yeah, he does some good things. There's no question about it.
He does some good things. I don't know. Again, Josh
Opps kind of got found out a little bit. Desmond
Ritter had a similar path this season. You know, he
started off hot, had a couple of nice games, and
then really went into the tank all the way to
the point where Arthur Smith in Atlanta had to bench

(59:43):
him for Taylor Heineke, who's taken over the starting quarterback
position there with the Falcons. So we'll see what happens.
But yeah, I think, like we discussed earlier, it starts
with belief, and certainly with Dobbs, certainly with Beagent. You
see quarterbacks who have a pretty good self confidence for
guys who are young in their career or as inexperience

(01:00:05):
as they both are.

Speaker 3 (01:00:06):
All right, So the Cardinals down thirteen at the a halftime.
So the Browns.

Speaker 2 (01:00:09):
Clayton Tune, if you don't know, is at quarterback for
Arizona this week, as Kyler Murray is still not ready
to go, and as we mentioned, Dobbs no longer with
the Cardinals. To his first half forgettable five of eight
twenty two yards and a pick, they have nine net
yards passing in this game. In fact, total yards in
the first half, Arizona is thirty one and a half. Meanwhile,

(01:00:32):
Deshaun Watson back and looking okay, still not very accurate,
eleven of twenty. That's fifty five percent passing one hundred
and thirty six yards, a touchdown and no picks. But again,
a Cleveland win gets them to five and three and
very much in the playoff chase.

Speaker 1 (01:00:49):
Yeah. Yeah, Cleveland win would be huge for the Browns
right now. And like you said, I think Deshaun Watson
is going to have to play his way back into
looking like the Shawn w Watson. I don't think we're there.
I don't think we're even close. Deshaun Watson was a
top five quarterback when he was playing at the top
of his game with the Houston Texans. He's nowhere near

(01:01:11):
the top five right now. He's top twenty, you know
what I mean. And you could argue his name precedes him.
If this was Bagent playing this way, we would think
very differently about it because we know what potential lies
on the other side of maybe getting some more of
the rust off of Deshaun Watson. Are getting a little

(01:01:31):
bit healthier for Deshaun Watson because we've seen him do
it at this level, but so far, the results aren't there.
The Browns are waiting for that day where all of
a sudden he puts it all back together and they go, oh,
that's the reason why we guaranteed him two hundred and
thirty million dollars. But so far has not happened yet,
and the Browns defense has kept this team's head above water.

Speaker 3 (01:02:06):
Let's find out what is trending right now.

Speaker 2 (01:02:10):
So Matt's we haven't had a whole lot of offense today,
not a lot.

Speaker 11 (01:02:13):
So my fantasy teams are are not doing great.

Speaker 3 (01:02:15):
No, I don't think anyway, I don't.

Speaker 10 (01:02:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:02:19):
There half the quarterbacks playing right now are not on
any fantasy teams.

Speaker 10 (01:02:22):
Yeah, and I decided to play Sam Howell instead of
Baker Mayfield in a Baker Mayfield is showing me up,
you know, He's like, this is what you get?

Speaker 3 (01:02:30):
Yeah, up twelve, one hundred and nineteen yards in the score.

Speaker 11 (01:02:33):
Not too shabby.

Speaker 10 (01:02:34):
And then Sam Howell just had an interception in the
end zone right before halftime.

Speaker 11 (01:02:37):
So no, it's not going well.

Speaker 10 (01:02:39):
But let's talk about Joshua Dobbs because you guys were
just talking about him.

Speaker 11 (01:02:43):
Right before he threw that touchdown.

Speaker 10 (01:02:45):
He had to scramble to get the first down using
his legs, gotten like eleven twelve yards. He is, Yeah,
I like him, like I would take Joshua Dobbs over a.

Speaker 11 (01:02:54):
Lot of other quarterbacks. He's hanging in there. Five days ago,
he in Minnesota. How he's doing this is beyond me.
And they're in it.

Speaker 10 (01:03:04):
Vikings are losing to the Falcons. They're approaching halftime. It's
eleven to ten, so they are in it. But like
you said, most of these games are at halftime. Browns
all over the Cardinals thirteen zero. That pass that Amari
Cooper caught was off of someone's helmet.

Speaker 11 (01:03:18):
It wasn't like deflected by the hands.

Speaker 10 (01:03:21):
That was just a bad throat by Deshaun Watson, and
Amari Cooper got.

Speaker 11 (01:03:24):
Lucky and caught that in the end zone.

Speaker 10 (01:03:26):
The Rams hit a field goal, but the Packers are
still up seven to three and they're literally.

Speaker 11 (01:03:30):
Headed into halftime right now.

Speaker 10 (01:03:32):
The Patriots up on the Commanders fourteen to ten.

Speaker 11 (01:03:36):
The Bears in the Saints this has been a fun one.

Speaker 10 (01:03:38):
Tyson Beagent has found Cole Comet twice in the end zone.
Derek Carr has found Chris Salava and Taysom Hill. That's
a tie game at halftime fourteen fourteen the Ravens. It
has been all Gus Edwards with two rushing touchdowns. They're
currently beating the Seahawks seventeen to three, also literally about
to be halftime, and the Buccaneers, yes, beating the Texans
seventeen to ten.

Speaker 11 (01:03:59):
I got a little mb A news for you guys.

Speaker 10 (01:04:01):
James Harden will make his debut for my Clippers on
Monday against the Knicks at Madison Square Garden. This is
according to the Athletic and Sons All Star guard Devin Booker.
He has missed four of Phoenix's first six games due
to left foot ankle injuries.

Speaker 11 (01:04:17):
I don't know.

Speaker 10 (01:04:18):
He's gonna miss today's game again against the Pistons due
to a strained right calf.

Speaker 11 (01:04:23):
So he's all messed up.

Speaker 3 (01:04:25):
I'll tell you what's messed up is that in season tournament.

Speaker 2 (01:04:28):
I know, first of all, you have a tournament that
began on Friday and now it doesn't go until next Friday.
So you have regular games and you have tournament games
where they doll up the courts.

Speaker 3 (01:04:42):
They're unwatchable on TV, by the way.

Speaker 2 (01:04:44):
What I mean, you can't even you can't keep your
I mean, did you see the bulls of that.

Speaker 11 (01:04:48):
It looks like they're on fire. It looks like we
were in hell.

Speaker 3 (01:04:51):
The people were literally saying.

Speaker 2 (01:04:52):
Even so, Lom, who is a diehard NBA fan, said,
I can't watch these games on TV the way they
do the courts.

Speaker 3 (01:05:00):
Since I said on my Twitter account.

Speaker 2 (01:05:02):
Ecot it is the worst idea in the history of sports,
especially compounded by the fact that it's not like.

Speaker 3 (01:05:09):
A continuous tournament.

Speaker 2 (01:05:10):
I mean, it's like a game and then you have
regular games and go back to the tournament.

Speaker 10 (01:05:15):
I will tell you that it's the most confusing thing possible.

Speaker 1 (01:05:18):
Ever.

Speaker 10 (01:05:18):
I feel that instead of it being incentivized by money,
it should have been incentivized by playoffs, like that, if
you win this, you're guaranteed a playoff spot, instead of
it being about money.

Speaker 11 (01:05:30):
Yeah, you know what I mean.

Speaker 3 (01:05:31):
It's just awful.

Speaker 11 (01:05:33):
Yeah, and it makes no sense.

Speaker 2 (01:05:35):
I thought it was going to be like a continuous tournament,
like for a weekend.

Speaker 11 (01:05:38):
It is like this day.

Speaker 2 (01:05:40):
Fridays, and then it's and we looked it up, it's
next Friday, and then like to just say after that.

Speaker 1 (01:05:45):
And by the way, and by the way, the press
releases and the information shared about this in season tournament
couldn't have been any more confusing and less informative because
the reality of it. Both and I know you both look,
I know we watch hoops here. I had no idea
it was starting at the starting nobody.

Speaker 2 (01:06:06):
You're like five games into the year and you're starting
a tournament, but it's it's the month of November.

Speaker 3 (01:06:11):
We talked about this, Rich.

Speaker 2 (01:06:12):
I don't want to overkill this thing, but if the
idea is you're trying to get eyeballs away from football,
forget it, especially in the month of November.

Speaker 3 (01:06:20):
I mean November. It is part of the football season.

Speaker 2 (01:06:23):
So instead of all this garbage, how about delaying the
start of the season for two months Instead of October June,
how about December to August. Imagine if the NBA Playoffs
are going on in the finals in August against what
the dog days of the baseball season and the NFL
season hasn't started yet, willn't that be a much better riva?

Speaker 10 (01:06:44):
Too much sense, stop it, stop talking.

Speaker 3 (01:06:48):
What do you think you are?

Speaker 2 (01:06:50):
Adam Silver was still you've been on this in season
tournament and it's not even that.

Speaker 3 (01:06:55):
All right, I don't want to waste any more time
on that.

Speaker 2 (01:06:57):
I really don't, Hey, Rich, I do want to talk
the about the upcoming game between the Cowboys and the Eagles.
So every year I look at the Cowboys as a
team that's due.

Speaker 3 (01:07:09):
It's not like they're awful.

Speaker 2 (01:07:10):
Every year they've had playoff teams, They've had playoff caliber quarterbacks,
They've had, you know, teams that potentially could be in
the Super Bowl conversation. And yet forget winning a Super Bowl,
not since the ninety five season. They haven't even been
to an NFC championship game since that season. But the Cowboys,

(01:07:32):
every time you think, oh oh, this could be the
year they lay an egg, yep, And today is that day.
You're on the road against the Eagles. This is one
of the fiercest rivalries in all of the NFL. It
gets downright ugly at times. Eagles obviously favored at home,
but only by three points. What is your gut feeling

(01:07:55):
do you think the Cowboys show up today, make it
a game, even possibly come away with a w.

Speaker 1 (01:08:01):
All right, let me give you the reasons why the
Cowboys can perform extremely well. They're gonna enter pretty confident
After a pretty dominant performance. In Week eight, Dak Prescott
arguably had his best game of the season in a
win over the Rams. He threw for three hundred plus
yards four touchdowns. Wide receiver CD Lamb has been targeted

(01:08:25):
multiple times. I mean multiple multiple times since he compared
himself to Jamar Chase on Monday Night Football. You remember
after that game he said, yeah, I'm always open too. Well.
He now has forty six catches for six hundred and
thirty three yards and three touchdowns this season, and a
lot of that work has been done recently. I also
want to point the attention because we spend so much

(01:08:46):
time talking about offense to the defense. Micah Parsons is
a game wrecker, all right. He is all over quarterbacks.
He already has fourteen QB hits this season, nine tackles
for loss in six sacks. He is a game record
in cornerback Deron Bland has four interceptions, three of which
he's returned to the house. So the Cowboys can win

(01:09:07):
this game. However, what you just said is really true.
The Cowboys find a way to lose games they should win,
especially when you look at what Philadelphia has looked like
in a lot of these games. If there's a team
that has squeaked by more than the Philadelphia Eagles with
a good record, name them, you can't. It's the Eagles.

(01:09:27):
And I know no style points in the NFL, and
I know there's no such thing as moral victories and losses.
The only thing that matters is w's and l's, and
the Eagles have a whole bunch of them, but they
haven't looked all that great in a lot of those ws.
So if there's a game where the Cowboys could capitalize,
it's today. However, we've seen this so many times that

(01:09:48):
you can't trust the Cowboys on the road in division.

Speaker 2 (01:09:52):
Let's talk to Bo Benson, our esteem producer and our
resident Eagles fan. Are you nervous about this game any respect?

Speaker 13 (01:10:01):
I no, I'm not playing.

Speaker 3 (01:10:06):
Team.

Speaker 13 (01:10:07):
I picked the Cowboys to win the division and go
to the Super Bowl, so I think that they are
going to be more up for this game than the
Eagles are.

Speaker 3 (01:10:16):
To be honest with you.

Speaker 1 (01:10:17):
All right, let me jump in for bow here, because
he lacks the enthusiasm I want him to have as
an Eagles fan. How about this? How about this? Jellen
Hurts has been his best season. No, not statistically, but
he continues to find ways to win. He's leading one
of the NFL's best offenses. By the way. Yeah, I
understand the stats will tell you otherwise, but they have

(01:10:39):
weapons everywhere Devonte Smith, AJ Brown. I mean, these are
guys who can just change games in an instant. Anywhere
the Eagles line up on the football field. I don't
care if they're at their own one yard line or
they're at your one yard line. They can score because
they have two exceptional receivers AJ Brown. He's also come
alive more alive lately. He's setting a new NFL record

(01:11:03):
with six consecutive games of at least one hundred and
twenty five yards receiving. He's had three touchdown receptions in
his last two games, and he has five overall on
the year. Brown he has a serious matchup issue for
any team. But you look at the Cowboys defense without
Trayvon Diggs, who tore his ACL. He's been out since
Week two. They haven't really recovered from that. So how

(01:11:25):
do you fix that mismatch problem in the secondary. The
answer is you probably can. And you know the Eagles
are going to be trying to feature and highlight AJ Brown,
So the Eagles have a great chance of defending their
home turf against the division rival two. Again, there are
so many ways to discuss this game. You could lean
heavy Cowboys and you'd be right. You could lean heavy

(01:11:45):
Eagles and you would be right. I bet you. If
this was played on a neutral field, this game would
be a pick them because they are so evenly matched
heading into this well.

Speaker 2 (01:11:54):
I think for both these teams it comes down to
the quarterback taking care of the football. I mean, we
saw it a year ago with Dak Prescott leading the
league in interceptions.

Speaker 3 (01:12:03):
Already, Jalen Hurts.

Speaker 2 (01:12:04):
Has eight picks, and a lot of this happens when
you have a quarterback, especially if you're a high profile quarterback.

Speaker 3 (01:12:10):
Getting paid a lot of money.

Speaker 2 (01:12:12):
You're in the spotlight and you start trying to do
things beyond what you should try to do. You're forcing
a few things, and that to me, has been the
only negative on.

Speaker 3 (01:12:22):
Jalen Hurts this year.

Speaker 2 (01:12:23):
I mean AJ Brown's having a huge year, you know,
I mean he might be a two thousand yard receiver
this year with the Eagles.

Speaker 3 (01:12:31):
But that's the one time.

Speaker 2 (01:12:33):
And by the way, remember a couple of years ago,
the same thing was happening with Patrick Mahomes. All of
a sudden, he started throwing interceptions trying to make something happen.

Speaker 3 (01:12:41):
I think it's just human nature.

Speaker 2 (01:12:44):
If you start believing that you can do more than
you actually can do, that's when you get in trouble.
You know, no quarterback threw more interceptions in the history
of the NFL than Brett Farr because he was constantly
trying to make play. So if Hurtz just minimizes the mistakes,
and it's true for Dak Prescott as well, let the
offense play out.

Speaker 3 (01:13:04):
What these teams could make a trip to the super Bowl.

Speaker 13 (01:13:06):
The one delusional fan thing I will say is that
when you play when you play the Dallas Cowboys on
National TV, the flags tend to be a little slanted
their way.

Speaker 1 (01:13:17):
That's what I'll say.

Speaker 3 (01:13:18):
That's not even delusional.

Speaker 1 (01:13:19):
Come on, yeah, the Cowboys. Look, I mean there are
certain I will admit there are certain teams.

Speaker 2 (01:13:24):
They're America's team. How come they haven't been to a
conference championship game? In almost thirty years.

Speaker 1 (01:13:28):
Look, I played with a quarterback who if he just
gave that steely, blue eyed glare at a referee, they
throw the roughing the passer flag, whether whether it was
whether they're actually touched or not. Right, Tom Brady could
get that call anytime he won. So there are certain players,
there are certain teams who get flags where others don't.
But again this goes back to Steve's point. So, okay,

(01:13:51):
say the field is tilted a little bit in the
Cowboys direction. From an officiating standpoint, Well, you're playing in Philadelphia. See,
you've got the crowd on you. And as long as
you play mistake free football, if you don't give them
extra opportunities, I think the Philadelphia Eagles have a good
chance of winning this football game.

Speaker 2 (01:14:09):
All right, we'll continue on around the NFL halftime with
seven games going on in the Shields Day, that's what
we have right now, a big Sunday here. We got
all the latest second half ready to go. This is
Fox Sports Red Zone Radio. Steve Harbin, Rich Rberger. This
is Fox Sports Red Zone Radio. We are live from
the TAIRAQ dot Com studios. So it just got third

(01:14:32):
quarters underway. By the way interesting. We always seem to
have that one rogue game that seems to be way
out of time with the other games.

Speaker 3 (01:14:41):
That is not the case today.

Speaker 2 (01:14:43):
All of the games are within about a four minute span,
all starting the second half right now.

Speaker 3 (01:14:49):
It has been a colorless first half, to say the least.

Speaker 2 (01:14:54):
And again, if you're just tuning in, we have a
lot of quarterbacks that will probably make their one and
only star this year, maybe in their NFL careers today
and that accounts for some limited offense around the National
Football League. I want to get back to the Bears
Saints game for a second here, because the Bears obviously
are an interesting play in this offseason. They have their

(01:15:18):
own number one pick and they also have Carolina's number
one overall pick. They're sitting with a record of two
and six. I don't know did you get to I
know you worked last night the San Diego State game.
By the way, I watched the end of that game. Yeah,
been a rough year for the Aztecs another loss this
time and overtime at home. But us he was playing
Washington yesterday.

Speaker 3 (01:15:40):
Caleb Williams was like a tears.

Speaker 1 (01:15:41):
At the end of this game, I mean hobbing. He
wasn't liking tears. He was sobbing in the arms of
his family, and whoever was I believe it was his mom,
I'm not sure, but whoever it was, that he was
hugging while he was literally I mean you could see
his body convulsing as tears were, was covering up his

(01:16:01):
face mask because he didn't even take his helmet off. Yeah,
he was so emotional after the loss.

Speaker 3 (01:16:06):
I mean, it was a back and forth game.

Speaker 2 (01:16:08):
USC I think came into the game with the second
worst scoring defense in the country. That might be number
one now after giving him fifty two points to Washington,
But this was the game.

Speaker 3 (01:16:19):
This was it.

Speaker 2 (01:16:19):
I mean, this eliminated any path for him to miraculously
get into the college football playoff.

Speaker 3 (01:16:25):
And of course it doesn't get any easier.

Speaker 2 (01:16:27):
Next week they're on the road against the Ducks in Eugene.
That being said, I'm watching him play yesterday and he's still,
without question, the best quarterback prospect in this draft.

Speaker 3 (01:16:41):
I mean he I mean, this guy can do things
on the field.

Speaker 2 (01:16:44):
He can't play defense, okay, and he can't hire a
competent defensive coordinator, something that his coach apparently lost sight
of after last year's disappointing finish. I'm not I'm making
I'm gonna make this yere. I'm not a big Lincoln
Riley guy at all. To me, he's Cliff Kingsbury, meaning
he's a one trick pony. He understands how offense is

(01:17:07):
everything else. But you're a head coach, you know, Lincl'
Riley's trying to ride the coattails of Caleb Williams into
an NFL coaching job.

Speaker 3 (01:17:14):
He had one.

Speaker 2 (01:17:15):
Job to do at the end of last season to
make this a year where things could go the next step,
and that was to fix the defense. He decided to
stand pat and the prediction and the results have been predictable, worse,
worse than even imaginable.

Speaker 3 (01:17:32):
That aside.

Speaker 2 (01:17:35):
Talking about the Bears talking about the Caleb Williams sweepstakes,
this is going to be very interesting off season of
decision making for this Bears.

Speaker 1 (01:17:44):
Team, no doubt.

Speaker 3 (01:17:45):
What do we do?

Speaker 2 (01:17:47):
I what if Justin Fields comes back and plays decently
and maybe the Bears win a few games and all
of a sudden they're sitting with Carolina's pick at number one.
You ride it out with Justin Fields hoping things get better.
Do you make a change at co coach. Do you
roll the dice and say, no, we're gonna go with
Caleb Williams. He is a generational talent. That's a lot
at stake for the Chicago Bears.

Speaker 1 (01:18:08):
Yeah. I mean here's here's the biggest question in my opinion,
is is who is going to be the next head coach?
I mean outside the quarterback Like, we know what it
looks like when you get a talented quarterback paired with
the wrong system, the wrong head coach. So even if
you bring in Caleb Williams, what does that mean? It's
not worth a hill of beans without a great culture builder.

(01:18:31):
So is that Lincoln Riley? I mean, would you be
willing to make a wholesale change if that's even possible.
I don't know. I mean he's never coached at the
NFL level before, so certainly not as a head coach.
I don't know if that works, you know, So yes,
I'm you gotta make a change or you got to
fix the quarterback situation in Chicago, But you also need

(01:18:53):
to build a culture in Chicago has been bereft of
a culture since the eighties. I mean, what has the
Chicago Iago Bear's identity been since the eighties. It's been
a lot of inconsistency. I can promise you.

Speaker 3 (01:19:06):
That very interesting time for the Bears.

Speaker 2 (01:19:08):
By the way, Stints lead that game by a score
of seventeen to fourteen. The Seahawks are getting worked by
the Ravens, who have now taken a twenty to three
lead in this game. And I think this is less
about the Seahawks and Gino Smith is struggling just six
of fourteen ninety three yards, no touchdowns in a pick.

(01:19:29):
They also have no running game. They only have eighty
nine total yards. And it's much more about the Ravens
and Lamar Jackson. You know you've been hearing all these
names bantered about about MVP. How about a second MVP
for Lamar Jackson. He has one hundred and twenty nine
yards passing thirteen of eighteen no picks. He's also run
for sixty one yards in this game. I mean, I

(01:19:50):
I'm telling you right now, you could have the Chiefs
and Dolphins right now today. The Ravens play either one
of those teams. The Ravens w this is the best
team in the AF see right now, all.

Speaker 1 (01:20:01):
Right, listen, I understand the argument and I know how
dominant they've looked recently. But you also have to remember
that Patrick Mahomes still exists, that Andy Reid still exists,
that they win on the road, and they just got
another win against a top AFC rival and the Miami
Dolphins and kind of made them look foolish in the

(01:20:22):
second half. Buddy, I can't give anybody the throne until
I'm certain they can beat the Chiefs in the postseason,
and I am uncertain that the Baltimore Ravens can do so.

Speaker 2 (01:20:38):
I'm telling you right now, this Ravens team is destined
for greatness.

Speaker 3 (01:20:41):
I got it right there.

Speaker 2 (01:20:43):
If it's not the Bengals, all right, we got these
second halfs underway. We got the scores, we got the stats,
everything you need. Keep it right here. This is Fox
Sports Red Zone Radio, rolling along in another busy NFL Sunday.
This is Fox Sports Red Zone Radio, and we are
broadcasting live from the tire rack dot Com studios.

Speaker 3 (01:21:00):
Tyrack dot com.

Speaker 2 (01:21:01):
We're gonna help get you there an unmatched selection, fast
free shipping, free road has a protection over ten thousand
recommended installers. Tire rack dot Com the way tire buying
should be all right. Second halfs are underway around the NFL.
The reason we didn't play a highlight at the top
of the hour. We don't play field goals. We need touchdowns,

(01:21:21):
and we're not getting any touchdowns right now. I do
want to call to light though, one player playing right now,
and that's CJ. Stroud, the rookie quarterback for the Houston Texans.
Sixteen to twenty four, two hundred and thirty two yards,
two touchdowns, and no picks. What makes his numbers even
more impressive is that Houston's running game has seven carries
for seven yards, so there's no balance in this offense.

(01:21:44):
They are leaning on a rookie quarterback to generate offense
right now, the Texans trailing the Buccaneers twenty to sixteen
inside twelve minutes to go in the third quarter. But
you know, we've talked about justin fields. We've talked about
other Ohio state quarterbacks over the years that have found
it hard to find success at the NFL level.

Speaker 1 (01:22:06):
C J.

Speaker 2 (01:22:06):
Stroud has had a historic start to his rookie career.
In fact, he had more throws attempts without an interception
than any quarterback to start his NFL career.

Speaker 1 (01:22:17):
Is this just.

Speaker 2 (01:22:19):
Early success, you know, Or is this something that you
can honestly look at halfway through his rookie year and say,
five years from now, three years from now, ten years
from now, CJ. Stroud will be one of the elite
quarterbacks in the National Football League.

Speaker 1 (01:22:41):
I don't think you can underrate how unlikely it is
that CJ. Stroud is having success. I mean I do
this with people on my other radio shows. Name a
Houston Texan, Go on.

Speaker 3 (01:22:58):
How about Noah Brown?

Speaker 1 (01:23:00):
Yeah? Like, name Dalton Schultz, Name a Houston Texan receiver,
right Tank Dell? Yeah, Like we're talking about an anonymous roster.

Speaker 3 (01:23:10):
Oh yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:23:11):
Like this is one of arguably the youngest and most
experienced and frankly poor rosters in the NFL, and c J. Stroud,
in spite of all that, has been playing near perfect
football for somebody dealt the hand he's been dealt in
the draft. He's also doing a nice job of protecting

(01:23:32):
himself because his offensive line certainly is not He's getting
rid of the football, he's making good decisions with the football.
He's not hurting the team. He's also not hurting himself.
This is a smart player. He reminds me a lot
of an Andrew Luck actually with less of a propensity
to put himself in situations where he's going to get

(01:23:54):
clabbered because he went into a completely, i mean does
disaster of a colts team, and he was a bright
shining light that they figured, Okay, yeah, we have a
long term fix here. We're gonna build around him, We're
gonna commit to him, and things are gonna get done.
But because he was savaged earlier in his career trying

(01:24:15):
to make plays with his legs. Obviously, he was a
tremendous dual threat athlete as a quarterback. He could throw
it on the run, he could run it himself. He
was a big man, you know, so Andrew Luck, he
took a lot of abuse. Think like almost like a
Josh Allen. That's not CJ. Stroud's game. You know, he
is a pocket passer. He can extend plays. He's good
to have athlete to get out of trouble. He's evasive

(01:24:37):
in the pocket. But but CJ. Stroud is going to
protect himself. He's going to make the people around him better.
Clearly he's done that this season. I think if you
look at this year's draft and we go back five
years from now and we say who really got it right?
The Houston Texans drafting C. J. Stroud really got it.

Speaker 3 (01:24:56):
Right, no doubt about that.

Speaker 2 (01:24:58):
Now, other things are happening, For instance, the Arizona Cardinals.
This may be one of the worst offensive lineups we've
ever seen for a week in the NFL with a
team Clayton toone, who's a fifth round pick, was forced
to start a quarterback. Dobbs had been traded to the Vikings.

(01:25:20):
Kyler Murray still not ready. He's five to ten twenty
two yards. He's been sacked three times for negative twenty
two yards, meaning they have a zero net yards passing
and they have twenty two yards rushing. By the way,
two has twelve of those, so they have twenty two
total yards with eight minutes to go in the third quarter. Remember,

(01:25:42):
the Arizona Cardinals were the overwhelming favorites to be the
worst team in the NFL before the season began. The
over runner on them was four and a half wins.
Every other team was at least six and a half wins.

Speaker 1 (01:25:53):
And for good reason, because they were outwardly obviously tanking
by not only I mean they could, they had to
add no choice they put Kyler Murray on pup. But
then they cut the quarterback who started all of their
games and played the majority of their snaps during preseason
training camp, right and all the games in the preseason,
and had Josh Dobbs start who was an unlikely fire

(01:26:17):
starter A little bit for that for that offense.

Speaker 3 (01:26:20):
Remember that game against the forty, Well, remember they beat
the Cowboys.

Speaker 1 (01:26:22):
They beat the Cowboys, and then guess what they did
with Josh Dobbs. They traded him away. So the Cardinals
are still committed to.

Speaker 2 (01:26:30):
Tanking now, I think at this point, and they have
the worst record in the league and it's only going
to get worse. To down twenty nothing to the Browns today,
they're going to have that number one overall pick. Now,
this gets back to that whole story about Caleb Williams
having a choice. Now, this has been a wildly disappointing
season for Caleb Williams at USC. And even if he

(01:26:52):
decided I don't want to be an Arizona Cardinal, that's
a tough sell to come.

Speaker 3 (01:26:58):
Back to USC.

Speaker 2 (01:26:59):
Yeah, because he gave them an opportunity. Now, he wasn't
eligible for the draft this year, but he gave his
coach who is so tightly connected to Lincoln Riley an
opportunity to get things right on the defensive side of
the football and has gone completely sideways. I mean, they
are arguably the worst defense in the country. They give

(01:27:20):
a forty nine points to cow last week, So I
mean he may get stuck with the Arizona Cardinals. And yeah,
well you talked earlier about how barren the Texans were.

Speaker 1 (01:27:35):
Hang on a second, Hang on a second. Yeah, So
I have a theory.

Speaker 3 (01:27:39):
Okay, I love these This is a big.

Speaker 1 (01:27:41):
Time theory based off of.

Speaker 3 (01:27:43):
I've heard a lot of Rich theories over the years.

Speaker 1 (01:27:45):
Well, this one makes a lot of sense. Can bear
with me for a second.

Speaker 3 (01:27:48):
Acording to Rich, it makes sense.

Speaker 1 (01:27:50):
I like that. Yeah, it always makes sense to me. Yes, okay,
So here's my theory. All right, here's my theory. The
Arizona Cardinals are not going to be able to draft
Caleb Williams even if they affected tank and earn the
first overall pick, because I think the NFL is going
to try to find a way to strip them of
that pick.

Speaker 3 (01:28:05):
What So check this out.

Speaker 1 (01:28:08):
What just happened? This huge expose article all of a
sudden lands and Basically, Michael Bidwell is a jerk. That's
that I saw that. Yes, that's the slug line is
he treats everybody like garbage around the office. And you know,
he's obviously from a gender standpoint, discriminatory with his behaviors

(01:28:29):
towards women in the workplace versus men in the workplace.

Speaker 3 (01:28:33):
He's Daniel Snyder.

Speaker 1 (01:28:34):
He's Daniel Snyder. I don't know if there was as
many sexual misconduct things or allegations around Michael Bidwell. I
didn't get to that part of the article. I don't
know if you did. But the things that we're being
unearthed was that he created a very toxic work environment.

Speaker 2 (01:28:50):
Do I understand the Bidwells have owned the Cardinals since
nineteen thirty three, that is.

Speaker 1 (01:28:54):
Correct, But I do also believe that the NFL, the
rest of the owners, the league's owners, thirty one other owners,
they all know that there's kind of honor amongst these thieves,
Like they look at each other and they say, yeah,
this is my competition, but also we have to do
what's best for the shield too, And when one particular
owner steps way out of line, all of a sudden,

(01:29:16):
everybody turns on him. It happened with Daniel Snyder, it
happened with Jerry Richardson. It may be happening with Michael
Bidwell here. And I think it's all encircled around the
fact that Caleb Williams is a generational talent and the
Cardinals again are outwardly embarrassing the NFL at every turn,
trying to tank so they can get Caleb Williams. He

(01:29:38):
doesn't want to go there. The NFL doesn't want Kayleb
Williams to go to Arizona. I can promise you that.
And so I think I think this expose that just
was released, and this is a little bit of tin
and foil hat stuff. I think that this expose that
was just released may have been tipped off by somebody,
you know, at the league office level saying, hey, you know, hint, hint,

(01:29:58):
you might want to take a look look at the
office environment over there in Arizona. Hint, hint. So I
don't know. I think somehow the NFL is going to
get in the way of the Arizona Cardinals actually being
able to draft Kleb with Well.

Speaker 3 (01:30:11):
That's saying a lot.

Speaker 1 (01:30:12):
Again.

Speaker 2 (01:30:12):
The bid Wells have been in charge of this franchise
almost as long as any other family. I mean that's
and they go back as long as the Rooneyes went
with the Steelers. So it's not like Daniel Snyder who
bought into the then Redskins franchise. That's gonna be a
tough sell. But that aside, if he does become a Cardinal,

(01:30:33):
you just talk about c J. Stroud having him to
get it done with very little help.

Speaker 1 (01:30:36):
Oh yeah, forget about it.

Speaker 2 (01:30:37):
Imagine what Caleb Walliams is going to inherit with those
Arizona Cardinals.

Speaker 3 (01:30:41):
All right, we're going to get back to these games.

Speaker 2 (01:30:43):
The one thing about low scoring games, they're all close,
well except Arizona because they literally have no offense. But
we'll keep you updated on a lot of close games,
which are these games will end up being the game
we we have that exciting finish up.

Speaker 1 (01:30:59):
Stay with us.

Speaker 3 (01:31:00):
This is Fox Sports Red Zone Radio.

Speaker 9 (01:31:03):
Ford in the back of the we're watching on third down.
Back to throw them in a little the end zone
throws to Nadjoku for the score. David n Joku with
a touchdown grab from Deshaun Watson, his second scoring pass
of the day, and the Browns put six more up
they lead nineteen to nothing.

Speaker 2 (01:31:19):
That's the Browns radio network essentially a bye this week
against a defenseless Arizona team twenty nhing Browns a hundred
a minute to go in the third quarter in that game.
This is Fox Sports Red Zone Radio Steve Hartman and
Rich Ornberger. We are live from the tay Iraq dot
com studios. Meanwhile, we were talking about CJ. Stroud and

(01:31:40):
CJ Stroud, Well, he just threw his third touchdown pass
of the game, this time to Tank Dell twenty nine
yard touchdown. So the extra point ties it at twenty
three no. With six minutes ago in the third quarter
at home, the Houston Texans, instead of in the game,

(01:32:01):
decided to go for a two point conversion and they
didn't get it with six minutes to go in the
third quarter. Now, I want to see the sheet, the
analytics sheet that says you're down by one with six
minutes to go in the third quarter and you go

(01:32:23):
for two Show me the formula that came out with
that spit that out to go for two point conversions.
So the Texans instead of tied with five minutes to
go now in the third quarter, trail Tampa twenty three
to twenty two, and.

Speaker 1 (01:32:38):
At home, you know, at home, no less overtime. That
stadium yet's loud. Sure, you're going to have obviously a
very difficult time for that Buccaneers offense, even if they
get the ball first. I I don't understand it's Steve,
it's not conservative to try to tie the ball game
in the third quarter at home. It's now, and it's
not to go in the third And by the way,

(01:33:00):
it's also not intelligent or quote unquote aggressive to go
for the two point conversion to take a one point
lead at this point in the game. It's stupid.

Speaker 3 (01:33:10):
It was un believable. We were all like, what just happened.

Speaker 1 (01:33:14):
Now, Now, Demico Ryans, I think he's a pretty smart guy.
I think he's gonna go back and he's gonna look
at that decision and he's gonna say, yeah, geez, you
know what if I could do it all over again,
dot dot. But there's a lot of coaches who stick
to their guns. They won't learn from these hard lessons,
and we've seen that many times in the NFL, and
they just don't last long. So Ryan's he's got to

(01:33:37):
figure this out. He's a rookie head coach, and it's
looked pretty good. And I think part of the reason
is because I do think he has talent. I think
he's a good leader of men, but also because he
has a quarterback in CJ. Stroud, who has bailed out
this organization from really really looking bad this season. The
only reason why they're floorting with an even record this

(01:33:57):
season is because of CJ. Stroud. Let's be very honest
with each other. So decisions like this, you know these
these are these aren't decisions you want to make a
habit of.

Speaker 2 (01:34:07):
All Right, the Vikings have just scored, and now this
one makes sense. They're gonna go for a two point conversion.
They're on the road against Atlanta and with the score,
they're trailing twenty one to nineteen. Now you don't know
about this game. Joshua Dobbs, who just ran it in
for a touchdown, he probably didn't even know the playbook.
I mean, he was picked up this week right at

(01:34:29):
the trade deadline by the Vikings, and they started the
rookie Jalen Hall just for a week and then we'll
get Dobbs in at quarterback. But Hall goes down with
an injury, so They're forced Dobbs into the lineup, and
he has played unbelievable nine to fourteen eighty nine yards,
a touchdown and no picks. He has run for forty
one yards and a touchdown. So there are two point

(01:34:51):
conversion away from tying it with at the Falcons. Let's
check out the two point conversion attempt right now, and
they are going to pass the Dobbs is gonna scramble,
look around, and he's gonna have to throw it, and
he does and it is good two point conversion. Josh Dobbs. Yeah,
Joshua Dobbs getting it done. On the other side, Taylor

(01:35:13):
Heineke is now the quarterback of the Atlanta Falcons, right, correct?

Speaker 3 (01:35:18):
I mean Desmond Ridder No, not good heinikey in.

Speaker 2 (01:35:23):
And again this is a Falcons team that started the
day at four and four, I mean a win today,
they're very much in the playoff picture.

Speaker 3 (01:35:29):
Were you surprised by that decision for the Falcons?

Speaker 1 (01:35:32):
Absolutely not, Absolutely not. Desmond Ritter outside of a couple
of games, and really you can limit it, limit it
to less than a couple of games. Two quarters, frankly
hasn't looked very good this season and that's nothing against
Desmond Ridder. This game is hard. He's inexperienced and he's
got a lot to learn. Taylor Heineke is a better

(01:35:55):
quarterback and I think we knew that going into the
season when he was on the roster and they announced
Desmon Ridder as a starter, and maybe it took them
a little while to learn the playbook because he had
n't been there, etc. Etc. But this was a decision.
I think we all saw it coming, especially after when
Heineke took over last week, and it just looks so
so much better. So I think in terms of the Falcons,

(01:36:18):
when you look around the NFC South and you start
thinking to yourself, like, Okay, how is this all gonna
shake out? Well, the Falcons right now at four and four,
have the lead in the division. They're right on top
of a Saints team with the same record, So it's
it's a little bit of I mean, like I'm not

(01:36:38):
saying I'm not saying they're in their window. I think
they still have to ultimately figure out the quarterback position.
I don't know if Taylor Heinike is your long term
fix there, but but the windows starting to open there.
There's a lot of talent around that defense. There's definitely
a lot of talent around that offense. They got to
figure out the quarterback position. But right now they're leading
their division.

Speaker 2 (01:37:00):
By the way, the Saints a little trickery to take
a twenty four to seventeen lead over the Bears eleven
minutes to go. In the fourth courter in this game,
they bring in Taysom Hill at the three yard line. Right,
He's gonna run the ball like he normally does. No,
he throws a touchdown pass to Jwan Johnson. So the
Saints lead the Bears by a score of twenty four
to seventeen. Tyson Bagen has played very well for the

(01:37:21):
Bears today, sixteen to twenty two hundred three yards, two touchdowns,
he has one pick. He's also run for seventy yards.
But it is the Saints, and when you look at
the Raiders mess and by the way, Jimmy Garoppolo has
been benched with everything else that happened this week. In fact,
they have announced that An O'Connell will be the quarterback

(01:37:43):
for the Raiders the rest of the way, right, and
Brian Horror is the backup. Jimmy Garoppolo is finished as
the quarterback of the Raiders. Meanwhile, Derek Carr today twenty
at twenty eight, twenty of twenty eight, one hundred ninety
one yards, two touchdowns, no picks, and the Saints are
leading the Bears. I mean, I want to talk about

(01:38:05):
Josh McDaniels for a second here. So he comes in
and inherits a team that had made the playoffs, and
I'm looking, I'm not going to overplay the Raiders of
twenty twenty one. They were outscored by sixty five points.
A lot had to happen for that team to end.

Speaker 3 (01:38:21):
Up in the postseason.

Speaker 2 (01:38:23):
And last year there were some positives, right, I mean,
you have a receiver who leads the league in receiving yards,
a rusher leads the league in rushing yards, and now
we find themselves in this mess. But let's get back
to his not being comfortable with Derek Carr. And I've
always said this about Derek Carr. Derek Carr is a

(01:38:47):
little better than middle of the pack. In fact, Derek
Carr at his best, I think is a lot above
middle of the pack.

Speaker 3 (01:38:54):
I like his leadership qualities. I always have What do.

Speaker 2 (01:38:57):
You think happened and why was Josh mc daniels so
sour on Derek Carr as his quarterback.

Speaker 1 (01:39:04):
I don't think it's Derek Carr. I think it's a
little bit of anybody except for Tom Brady. When you're
Josh McDaniels and the only quarterback you've ever had success
within the NFL is Tom Brady, every other quarterback you
work with is going to pail in comparison. Well, you
have to make good, You have to make amends with that.

(01:39:26):
You have to realize nobody is gonna be Tom Brady
or even close to his capabilities as a processor. He's
not gonna There's gonna be no other quarterback who's gonna
be able to download the playbook and almost act like
a second offensive coach or coordinator on the field at
times for you, like he wanted that with Jimmy Garoppolo,
but it wasn't there. Jimmy Garoppolo is not Tom Brady.

(01:39:49):
That's been proven many times over and over again in
this league as a starter already. He's just not. And
that's okay. Look, nobody's Tom Brady. And I think Jimmy
Garoppolo would tell you, if he was being perfectly honest,
there's no way he should be even in the same conversation.
But I honestly think that's what Josh McDaniels was trying
to do with Jimmy G. He was trying to force

(01:40:10):
that square peg into a round hold and be like,
Jimmy G, you need to do what Brady did. We
need to create Patriots West here. This has to be
They literally surrounded Jimmy Garoppolo by six or seven other
former Patriots who he had played with during his time
in New England. Like this was a commitment to making

(01:40:31):
to making a carbon copy of the environment that Bill
Belichick created in New England. And it's impossible to do
because Bill Belichick is a special culture builder. Tom Brady
is a special quarterback. And so it had nothing to
do with Jimmy G. It had nothing to do with
Derek Carr, It had nothing to do with Aidan O'Connell
or any of the quarterbacks that Josh McDaniels coach while

(01:40:55):
he was in Las Vegas. It wasn't gonna work because
nobody's Tom Brady and he can't coach anybody other than
Tom Brady at that quarterback position.

Speaker 3 (01:41:06):
Breaking news from Fox Sport Montee. We have some breaking news.

Speaker 11 (01:41:10):
We do have some breaking news. You guys were talking
about USC losing last night.

Speaker 10 (01:41:14):
Well, according to multiple reports, they have fired their defensive coordinator,
Alex Grinch.

Speaker 3 (01:41:20):
Wow. Yeah, Lincoln Riley's guy.

Speaker 10 (01:41:22):
Correct, So, defensive line coach Sean Nua and inside linebackers
coach Brian Odom will serve as co defensive coordinators the
rest of the season.

Speaker 2 (01:41:30):
This is very interesting. First of all, it's a season loss,
a little too late for that. They should have fired
this guy before the season even began. Yeah, but this
is Lincoln Riley's guy, and he's loyal to him. And
the fact that the university stepped in because you know,
you know how this works, Rich, This is where you
know the athletic director, you know, and you see a

(01:41:53):
sobbing Caleb Williams, and you've invested a lot of nil
money over the last couple of years in this team
and this season goes south on you. Lincoln Riley's guy
gets fired. Does this mean Lincoln Riley is the next
to go from USC?

Speaker 1 (01:42:11):
Well, I don't think he's gonna be fired.

Speaker 2 (01:42:15):
Well, my point is is he actively seeking to get
out of there? You know much money they're paying Lincoln Riley.
Do you know the package they gave him he's come
to USC.

Speaker 1 (01:42:24):
First of all, they're not firing him because they're gonna
own so much money. If anything, if they want a
clean split from Lincoln Riley, they're going to have to
figure out a contractually, mutually beneficial way to do this,
otherwise their hands are tied. A lot of people are
talking about him leaving for the NFL. Well, I think

(01:42:46):
that would be probably a pay cut for Lincoln Riley,
and it would probably be extraordinarily expensive for the USC
Trojans to figure out if if they want to do that.
So I don't really foresee that happening. And so because look,
Lincoln Riley, let's face it, he's got a great track
record with quarterbacks.

Speaker 2 (01:43:07):
I mean, he's turned paper. He's a one trick pony.
He develops quarterbacks by the way transfer quarterbacks. But nonetheless
good track record with quarterbacks.

Speaker 1 (01:43:15):
It doesn't matter. I mean whether you're a transfer or
you're a recruited freshman who he's developed. Lincoln Riley, he's
got the golden touch.

Speaker 2 (01:43:24):
Well, that's what I would do. I would hire him
as a quarterback coach at the NFL. At the NFL level, Steve,
Are you mad? Why would any human being take a
down grade?

Speaker 3 (01:43:35):
Well, he own quarterback, but the NFL.

Speaker 2 (01:43:38):
But I mean, if I'm the NFL, I'm not hiring
this guy as a head coach.

Speaker 1 (01:43:41):
No, no, no, but but that's not even discussion. He's not
leaving USC unless he has a head coach position waiting
for him at How do you think.

Speaker 2 (01:43:48):
That conversation went with his buddy that he had to
show him the door.

Speaker 1 (01:43:52):
Well, I think part of the reason why I did
it was because he knew that there was no other choice.
It's a results driven business. And if honestly, if if
Alex Grinch is a buddy, is a dog, is a guy,
he knows that he should he should have been going
into Lincoln's office and saying, hey, dude, any day now
if you need to fire me, I get it. Like

(01:44:13):
like if he if he truly is like a good friend,
he's he's falling on the sword for his buddy, because
that defense is unacceptable. When you have an offense that
high powered and you can't stop multiple teams from putting
up forty on you, what an embarrassment. USC ball places

(01:44:35):
you can recruit with anybody in the country if you're
at USC. I don't understand how it's possible. I don't
get how it's possible. But the Washington Huskies, by the way,
don't play any defense either, and they were able. What
was the final score of that game last night? I
wis were did? There was ninety plus points score fIF
fifty two forty. I mean, just ridiculous amounts of point scored.

(01:44:56):
This was We all saw this coming. You might be
maybe it should have happened soon. I don't know. The
reality is, Lincoln Riley doesn't care. Lincoln Riley is there
to produce Heisman candidates. He's there to produce offense, and
he needs to find a defensive coordinator who can stop
opposing offenses. He's going to have very little to do

(01:45:19):
with that except for finding the right person, which clearly
Alex Grinch was not.

Speaker 3 (01:45:24):
Yeah, so wow, big story there.

Speaker 2 (01:45:25):
Let's find out what's trending right now, because not only
have big news in college football, we have seven games
going on in the NFL right now, Moncie, we do.

Speaker 11 (01:45:33):
And also c J.

Speaker 10 (01:45:34):
Stroud must have heard you guys talking about him, because
he just threw his fourth touchdown pass to Dalton Schultz.
So the Texans have taken the lead over the Buccaneers.
It's thirty to twenty four early in the fourth quarter.
But he's stolen for three hundred and thirty seven yards
and four touchdowns. That's incredible. Good for him.

Speaker 2 (01:45:50):
Good right, by the way, this time they got the
two point conversion.

Speaker 3 (01:45:53):
Yes, yeah, so they made up for blowing the two
point conversion. They could have just kicked.

Speaker 11 (01:45:57):
Too extually, Yeah, exactly exactly. They They probably were like,
now we have to make up for it. The Ravens
have been all over the Seahawks. It's been really all Baltimore.

Speaker 10 (01:46:06):
They're up thirty to three early in the fourth quarter
and they have the.

Speaker 11 (01:46:09):
Ball as we speak.

Speaker 10 (01:46:10):
The Saints have scored again, this time it was Taysom
Hill with a touchdown pass. So they're beating the Bears
twenty four to seventeen. The Commanders up on the Patriots
twenty to seventeen. Both of these games have about nine
minutes left in the fourth quarter.

Speaker 11 (01:46:23):
The Rams and the Packers. What a snooze fest.

Speaker 10 (01:46:26):
I mean, it's the same score, well, another field goal,
but it's.

Speaker 11 (01:46:30):
Ten to three. What a snooze fest early.

Speaker 3 (01:46:32):
In the fourth win for the Packers. If they win
this game ten to three?

Speaker 5 (01:46:36):
Is that?

Speaker 12 (01:46:36):
Like?

Speaker 11 (01:46:37):
I guess so it is.

Speaker 10 (01:46:40):
They get it on the right side, but like, no,
it's been a snooze fest for sure. Jordan Love has
some known for one hundred and fifty five yards, but
it's not looking pretty. The Browns holding on to their
shutout over the Cardinals twenty zero ten minutes left in
the game and way to go Vikings and Joshua Dobbs.
They have taken the lead over the Falcons. Twenty four

(01:47:01):
to twenty one is the score. All of the fourth
quarters still left, so we'll see how this one ends.
And I mentioned in NBA News that James Harden is
going to make his debut for the Clippers on Monday.
Also he's supposed to start, So it's gonna beat James Harden,
Russell Westbrook, Kawhi Leonard, Paul George.

Speaker 11 (01:47:17):
And Evats Zubas starting.

Speaker 2 (01:47:19):
I don't know how I feel about Itizza Vitza zubats Zuba.

Speaker 11 (01:47:23):
Let me tell you that nobody says his name the same.

Speaker 2 (01:47:25):
I know they will, but after much practice over the years, Zubats.

Speaker 3 (01:47:30):
Look, I think the hardened signing is a disaster.

Speaker 10 (01:47:33):
I mean, I mean Westbrook.

Speaker 2 (01:47:36):
I you got two guys in their mid thirties who
are ball dominant guards that play no defense.

Speaker 11 (01:47:44):
So again you're being logical. Yeah, and I'm going to
ask you to not be asking to be hopeful.

Speaker 3 (01:47:50):
The big thing there is trying to keep Kawhi Leonard
on the court.

Speaker 11 (01:47:53):
That's it.

Speaker 10 (01:47:54):
That's it, and of course the big story that USC
has released their defensive coordinator Alex Grinch.

Speaker 2 (01:47:59):
Alright, MONTI thank you very much. Show Once again, this
is Fox Sports Red Zone Radio. Steve Hartman and Rich
Orenberger with you were brought to by Progressive Insurance.

Speaker 3 (01:48:18):
So we talked about a lot of this.

Speaker 13 (01:48:19):
Yeah, real quick, right, have a I have an update
for us on why the Texans are going for two
so much.

Speaker 1 (01:48:24):
Yeah, per Ryan.

Speaker 13 (01:48:26):
Berschinger, the Texans kicker is hurt.

Speaker 3 (01:48:28):
Oh well, that would make.

Speaker 4 (01:48:31):
Wally kick for the kickoff and actually he got a touchback.
But I think that's why they're running two point conversions
as their kickers.

Speaker 13 (01:48:39):
Yeah, my question becomes can the punter or not kick
too like earn that paycheck.

Speaker 6 (01:48:43):
Bro.

Speaker 3 (01:48:44):
My question to you is, has anyone ever heard of
Keaton Mitchell?

Speaker 1 (01:48:48):
So?

Speaker 2 (01:48:48):
Keith Mitchell is a rookie with the Ravens who came
into today out of South Carolina or East Carolina. Going
into today, he had zero carries for zero yards. Today
he has nine carries for one hundred and thirty eight
yards and a touchdown, meaning his career yards per carry

(01:49:09):
career is fifteen point three yards per carry. Did anybody
have Keaton Mitchell on their fantasy football team?

Speaker 3 (01:49:16):
Anybody?

Speaker 1 (01:49:16):
I did not know.

Speaker 2 (01:49:18):
No. I am trying to look where did this guy
come from? He had actually caught a pass earlier in
the year, but according to my I'm gonna look it
up here. So Keiton Mitchell had played in two games
this year and he had one catch for nine yards. Yeah,

(01:49:38):
and today, in this blowout win for the Ravens over
the Seahawks, leading thirty three nine minutes ago in the
fourth quarter, he has nine carries for one hundred and
thirty eight yards and a touchdown.

Speaker 1 (01:49:50):
He's he's having a game, man.

Speaker 3 (01:49:52):
How about that? That's a that's pretty good.

Speaker 1 (01:49:54):
It's not bad. I'll tell you that Keaton Mitchell. Look,
if anybody body else is savvy with their with their
fantasy apps, go ahead and claim that off Waivers.

Speaker 2 (01:50:07):
By the way, this game is such a blowout, they've
already yanked Lamar Jackson. Tyler Huntley now and at quarterback
for the Ravens. Remember Tyler Huntley when he was voted
to the Pro Bowl. Yeah, yeah, yeah he was. He
was like the tenth alternate and people kept passing like
I'm not interested.

Speaker 1 (01:50:25):
Yeah, Well that's the that's the problem I have with
Pro Bowls and All Stars.

Speaker 2 (01:50:30):
My attitude is, and I'm like, as an NFL historian,
I do not count Pro Bowls in which you were
not actually selected to the Pro Bowl. Other words, if
you're an alternate, you could be like the sixth alternate
and get credit for a Pro Bowl. That in my
world's not a problem. And Tyler Huntley, in my face,
just through a touchdown.

Speaker 1 (01:50:50):
Pass, Well he's onto his next Pro Bowl.

Speaker 3 (01:50:52):
Wait, that's Odell Beckham Junior on the receiving end.

Speaker 1 (01:50:57):
Okay, OBJ, so that gives him five or exceptions on
the day, Hill clips fifty yards and that touchdown, So
OBJ getting it done. Mark Andrews was the leading receiver
in this game for Baltimore again eight minutes left, but
he can still pile some more on here, nine receptions,
eighty yards there, let's see. But yeah, the player of

(01:51:18):
the day, no question, Keaton Mitchell with the one hundred
and thirty eight yards on the ground in a touchdown
scored rushing.

Speaker 3 (01:51:24):
We mentioned CJ. Stroud's four touchdown pass of the day.
Look at these numbers.

Speaker 2 (01:51:28):
Twenty two thirty two, three hundred and thirty seven yards,
four touchdowns and no picks on a team that only
has thirty one yards rushing.

Speaker 1 (01:51:36):
Yeah, yeah, and.

Speaker 2 (01:51:38):
The Texans lead the Buccaneers thirty to twenty three inside
thirteen minutes to go.

Speaker 3 (01:51:43):
He is the real deal. If there was any question
going in now he is.

Speaker 1 (01:51:47):
I mean, it's it's very difficult to spotlight or figure
out who is going to be the quarterback that breaks
through in any rookie class, especially in the first round,
because you could talk yourself into things and talk yourself
out of things really quickly. I'm I'm curious to know
how many times how many times CJ. Stroud's name was

(01:52:08):
ahead of Bryce Young's name on the war room draft
board for the Carolina Panthers, Like, how many times did
that flip flop? Were they sure when they traded with
the Bears did they know they were taking Young? How
many times was Stroud over Young? Like? How many people
in that?

Speaker 2 (01:52:23):
They insist, and Frank Reike had a big say in
this for Carolina, and he insisted there was never a
conversation jon Bryce Young. Bryce Young is the guy well,
and I may still be the guy down the way.

Speaker 1 (01:52:38):
Okay, yes you're right, But my point is, what else
is he supposed to say? I want the truth. If
I could tie these people to a chair and give
them truths here and say, tell me the real truth?
How many times was c J. Stroud? Actually, because that's
the nightmare that you're you're living through.

Speaker 3 (01:52:54):
Does Frank Reich walk the plank?

Speaker 2 (01:52:56):
I mean, if they if if Houston right now is
in the play off mix, right and Demiko Ryans who
everyone predicted, if he ever gets an opportunity to say, hey,
coach is going to show that he knows what he's doing,
He's doing exactly that.

Speaker 3 (01:53:10):
Frank Reich.

Speaker 2 (01:53:11):
Yeah, and if you have the Carolina Panthers, you're like,
we you sold us on Bryce Young?

Speaker 1 (01:53:17):
All right? So check this out. So frank Reich is
still being paid some money by the Colts. Wow, okay.
And also he agreed to reportedly a four year contract
with the Carolina Panthers. Yes, so Frank Reig's a very
rich man based on the hastiness of Jim Irsay and

(01:53:40):
the commitment that the Carolina Panthers have made. So I
don't think he's going to lose a ton of sleep
either way over it. But does he walk the plank?
I would say that would be a very expensive decision
for Carolina. Remember the Raiders as as as off as
things looked last year with Josh McDaniels Mark Davis until
mid season this year before he made the ultimate decision

(01:54:03):
to can them. And he's on the hook after making
a bevy of moves for over eighty million dollars in
salaries walking out the door. So it's expensive the fire
ahead coach, it is.

Speaker 2 (01:54:16):
Indeed, by the way the Buccaneers have tied up their
game against the Houstons, that's white with a short run
a second of the game, So thirty thirty inside twelve
minutes ago in the fourth quarter, I get a sense
we're gonna have some exciting finishes don't go anywhere.

Speaker 3 (01:54:31):
This is Fox Sports Red Zone Radio.

Speaker 9 (01:54:34):
Second and goal from a one yard line, hand them
all off on the gut Coach White, He's got it.
Touchdown Tampa Bay Forrashan White's got his second rushing touchdown.

Speaker 1 (01:54:42):
Of the day.

Speaker 2 (01:54:43):
That's ninety eight Rock Buccaneers Radio Network. That game tied
at thirty each ten minutes ago in the fourth quarter,
Bucks and the Texans once again, you're listening to Fox
Sports Red Zone Radio. Steve Hartman, Rich Hornberger with you.
We are live from the tire Rack Dot Studios. All right,
let's update you now on seven games that are being
played right now around the NFL. A couple of games

(01:55:06):
absolute blowouts. Today Ravens leading the Seahawks, who saw this coming,
thirty seven to three with inside six minutes to go
in the fourth quarter. In that game, also the Browns
just the Cardinals. It's like a bye game really, Brown's
leading the Cardinals twenty seven a thing against six minutes
to go in the fourth quarter. The other games, Rich

(01:55:29):
are all within reach. The Packers are leading the Rams
thirteen to three, and they have the ball in the
red zone, so the Packers seem safe. No Matthew Stafford today.
So the Rams offense is a big zero. But the
other games, Vikings leading the Falcons twenty four to twenty one,
eight and a half minutes to go in the fourth quarter,

(01:55:50):
they are commanders over the Patriots twenty to seventeen. We
got three and a half minutes to go in that game,
Bears trailing the Saints twenty four to seven teen three
minutes to go there, and as we mentioned, Bucks and
Texans tied at thirty with nine a half minutes ago,
So we have a chance to have one or more exciting.

Speaker 1 (01:56:10):
Finishes, no doubt about it.

Speaker 3 (01:56:13):
Are you okay?

Speaker 1 (01:56:14):
Yeah, I'm choking on a nut.

Speaker 9 (01:56:17):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:56:17):
One thing you don't do in this business is eat nuts.

Speaker 2 (01:56:21):
You always say that, but I do, and I do
because you know where it affects me more is television,
Well I love it. I love to you know, like
mixed nuts or you know, cash is whatever it is. Right.

Speaker 1 (01:56:34):
I just had a handful of almonds, and I'll tell
you what, I'm fine. I was just trying to swallow
too fast because I was trying to talk, and then
all of a sudden, boom caught me.

Speaker 3 (01:56:42):
Almonds are safer because they're not.

Speaker 2 (01:56:45):
Yeah, they say, is the nut I should avoid peanuts?

Speaker 1 (01:56:50):
Wow?

Speaker 3 (01:56:51):
There it is not when you're broadcast.

Speaker 2 (01:56:53):
By the way, Green Bay has pretty much put this
one away. Jordan Love a touchdown, Pa asked the Musgrove
a Muskrave for the uh touchdown?

Speaker 12 (01:57:03):
There?

Speaker 2 (01:57:03):
So the Packers now lead the Rams by a score
of twenty to three. Musgrave with the touchdown? There again,
Brett Rippin at quarterback for the Rams today.

Speaker 3 (01:57:12):
Don't ask?

Speaker 2 (01:57:13):
And I know twenty two hundred three yards, no touchdowns
and one pick.

Speaker 13 (01:57:17):
A little bit of a rough day there, no quick Steve,
I know, I know, we don't do field goals on
the show. Yes, but the Texans just kicked a field
goal with Ogun balle.

Speaker 2 (01:57:28):
Yeah not a kicker, Wow, kicked a twenty nine yard
field goal. The kicker is hurt for the Texans. So
o goom bwally twenty nine yard field goal in the
Texans have a thirty three to thirty leads still eight
and a half minutes to go in that game.

Speaker 1 (01:57:48):
Where like, okay, so where else does he play on
this roster?

Speaker 3 (01:57:52):
Is a running back as he's a running My gosh.

Speaker 2 (01:57:55):
Now people don't understand about rich Ornberger's background as a kicker,
you actually were a kicker.

Speaker 1 (01:58:02):
I was. I was. I was a backup kicker. So
the story goes like this, and it's a quick story.
Early du Set was a number two wide receiver on
an Arizona Cardinals team back in twenty twelve. I was
an offensive lineman on that team. Kevin Spencer was a
special teams coach and was leaning on Early du Set

(01:58:23):
to be his backup kicker because he had done it,
I guess, either at the college level or elsewhere in
the NFL, but he refused to practice ever as an
emergency kicker. Basically, the only way you'll ever get foisted
into action is like we're seeing in Houston, where in
game the kicker goes down. They need to have a
plan B, like any coach needs to always have a
plan B. So I ended up telling Kevin Spencer I

(01:58:46):
was like, well, I was a punter in high school.
I was like, I'll be your kicker. I'll be your
emergency kicker. So sure enough, after practice that day, he
gave me a workout. I went eight for ten. Wow,
variety of ranges distancing hash Mark said.

Speaker 3 (01:59:01):
A second, there's a difference been doing in a punter
and a kicker.

Speaker 1 (01:59:04):
Yeah, but I just understood how it all works.

Speaker 2 (01:59:07):
And I told how'd he get the ball airborne? That's
always the key.

Speaker 1 (01:59:10):
It's just all about hitting the correct quadrant.

Speaker 3 (01:59:12):
Launch angle.

Speaker 1 (01:59:13):
Yeah yeah, dude, it's all about launch angle.

Speaker 3 (01:59:15):
Oh you did soccer style?

Speaker 1 (01:59:17):
Yeah? Yeah, yeah, yeah?

Speaker 3 (01:59:18):
Really?

Speaker 1 (01:59:19):
Oh no. I would paste it out just like a kicker.
I would take two steps back and that would take
one to the side. I would plant my back leg
my swing leg, and then I would take one two
steps swing through the ball and I could pure it.

Speaker 2 (01:59:31):
Man.

Speaker 1 (01:59:31):
I was pretty good. And so anyway, so I go
through this kicking drill pre practice, and he was like,
all right, Well, if anything happens to Jay Feely, who
was our kicker, he was like, you're in. And I'm
like awesome. And so I just spent the rest of
the season praying that Jay Pheely got the flu or
something like midgame just started violently throwing up and I
would get an opportunity to just get out there and

(01:59:52):
kick one just extra boy and field goal, wow, kickoff.
I would do it all so.

Speaker 2 (01:59:56):
You would be on the old time NFL scoring list,
at least list.

Speaker 3 (02:00:00):
I have never scored one point now I know you
never scored out there worse.

Speaker 2 (02:00:03):
By the way, speaking of scoring, the Patriots need to score.
They are trailing the Commanders now twenty to seventeen. At
one point, New England led this game seventeen to ten.
Once again, Sam.

Speaker 3 (02:00:16):
Howe, I think at the very least, the.

Speaker 2 (02:00:18):
Commanders have found themselves a franchise quarterback.

Speaker 1 (02:00:22):
I think you would say, at the very least.

Speaker 3 (02:00:24):
Well, it's not a very good team.

Speaker 1 (02:00:27):
You're you're sold on him though, that he can lead
this franchise into the future.

Speaker 2 (02:00:31):
I think Sam Howe's got it, I really do. I
don't know at three hundred and twenty five yards passing. Again,
Today's had some pretty good games, all right, which games
actually come down to a big finish?

Speaker 3 (02:00:42):
Keep it here on Fox Sports Red Zone Radio.

Speaker 2 (02:00:47):
The running back for the lead, snappers down, the kickers off.

Speaker 12 (02:00:52):
But it's good story, a good bally for three.

Speaker 3 (02:00:55):
The Texans are packet front, Are you kiddy? That's the
Texans radio network. You heard it right?

Speaker 2 (02:01:06):
A running back kick the field goal for the Texans
as they currently lead the Buccaneers thirty three to thirty.
That with four and a half minutes to go in
the fourth quarter. This is Fox Sports Red Zone Radio
and we're broadcasting live from the tierrech dot Com studios.
Tirerack dot Com're goaugh, get you there on that match
selection fast reshipping free road has a protection over ten

(02:01:28):
thousand recommended installers.

Speaker 3 (02:01:29):
Tire rack dot com the way tire buying should be.

Speaker 1 (02:01:33):
All right.

Speaker 2 (02:01:34):
One game we're watching right now, the Commanders and the Patriots.
Patriots have the ball trailing by three, about a minute
and a half to go right now, and the Pats
are on the move. Mac Jones trying to come up
with a way to win this game and first down
pass third, about where are they right now?

Speaker 3 (02:01:51):
They are at the.

Speaker 2 (02:01:52):
Forty five yard line, their own forty five yard line
at the very least here Rich obviously trying to get
into a field goal position to send this game potentially
in to overtime.

Speaker 3 (02:02:01):
This is big.

Speaker 2 (02:02:02):
I mean again, the Patriots come into this game the
only two and sixteen in the AFC, sitting alone sixteen
out of sixteen teams in the AFC. You're at home
against a mediocre Commander's team. You need to win this game,
and let's see if mac Jones can pull this thing out.

Speaker 1 (02:02:18):
Yeah. Look, and we've seen mac Jones look better. Last week,
he looked much better. So they're riding off of more
confidence than they've had in a while and mac Jones
so far today it hasn't been perfect, but well, yes
that pass, Yeah, that was not a good pass. That
was not a good pass. The Bills victory was a

(02:02:38):
short lift lived confidence boost before heading into the teeth
of that Miami Dolphins offense on the road. But even
in that game with the pick, mac Jones looks serviceable.
It's just when your defense gives up thirty one points, which,
by the way, not typical of a Belichick defense. Giving
up that many points. Has happened a couple of times

(02:02:59):
this year. The Patriots are only able to muster seventeen
and they end up losing that one before this one.
You can't lose against the Commanders if you even want
to have a glimmer of hope here moving forward.

Speaker 3 (02:03:10):
All right, So here's what they're facing right now.

Speaker 2 (02:03:12):
It's going to be a fourth and four and they
are at the forty nine yard line of the Commanders.
So fourth and four, there's a minute seventeen to go,
and they're not wasting time. They've snapped the ball and
this is it game on the line? Quick pass? Is
is that caught?

Speaker 3 (02:03:31):
There? You are is ruling? It is a catch.

Speaker 1 (02:03:33):
Wow, get on the ball as quickly as you can
and get another play round if I were you.

Speaker 2 (02:03:38):
Okay, So no, he caught that ball. The replay clearly
caught it. So the ball's out at the forty three
yard line. The ball has been snapped. The Patriots have
no timeouts.

Speaker 1 (02:03:49):
Smith Schuster with the reception, by the way, his sixth
of the day, fifty one yards.

Speaker 2 (02:03:54):
By the way, So they have no timeouts, which is
why it's so frantic. Mac Jones just ran out of
bounds on first down to stop the clock. So there's
now thirty eight seconds to go and they are at
the Washington forty one yard line, so still you need
some more yards here. Chad Rylan is the kicker for

(02:04:16):
the Patriots. He has a career long of fifty one.
So they're at the forty one yard line, thirty eight
seconds to go, second and eight. Jones throws over the
middle and it's intercepted, and that is the game.

Speaker 1 (02:04:27):
Wow. Wow, that is the game.

Speaker 2 (02:04:31):
That's ad That is it, and the Patriots will fall
to two and seven, one in four at home.

Speaker 3 (02:04:41):
This year.

Speaker 1 (02:04:42):
That's brutal.

Speaker 2 (02:04:43):
Now do you want to revise your playoff prediction for
the Patriots?

Speaker 1 (02:04:47):
Listen, the inclusion of the Commander's victory nullifies that that idea.
I mean, they needed to win this one. They need
to win next week. They needed to win on the
road in LA against the Chargers if they even want
to have a chance. Because you win those three, you're
five and six.

Speaker 3 (02:05:08):
Did he intercept that?

Speaker 9 (02:05:09):
No way?

Speaker 3 (02:05:10):
Look at look at the replay.

Speaker 2 (02:05:11):
It looks like Martin the ball hit the ground as
he was corralling it.

Speaker 3 (02:05:17):
There might be a did you guys see what I saw?

Speaker 15 (02:05:20):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (02:05:20):
Smith, Martin's sort of.

Speaker 1 (02:05:21):
Stud what's that? Smith Schuster?

Speaker 3 (02:05:24):
Yeah, I went right through his hands. But anyway, but Martin.

Speaker 1 (02:05:27):
No, no, I mean, are you kidding me? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (02:05:31):
I don't know. Yeah, So who are they? I mean
it's a turnover. So that's an automatically reviewed play. But
I thought when Martin went to the ground on the interception.

Speaker 1 (02:05:41):
He didn't he didn't possess the football.

Speaker 2 (02:05:44):
I thought it got a little loose there and the
tip of the ball may have hit the ground.

Speaker 1 (02:05:48):
Well that's the thing.

Speaker 2 (02:05:49):
You cannot use the They are not going to review it.
And they are taking a knee and this game is
officially so that's it. Last play of the game, all right.
So the Patriots falled at two and seven, cementing their
slot in the bottom of the standings in the AFC. Meanwhile,
the Vikings right now trail the Falcons. Can we get
this game going there? It is all right, twenty eight

(02:06:12):
to twenty four. Falcons are leading the Vikings. This has
been an unbelievable game because Josh Dobbs, who was just
picked up by the Vikings, was forced into action when
Jaron Hall, the rookie, got hurt. Vikings have the ball
right now, a minute nineteen to go in the fourth quarter,
and the Vikings are trailing the Falcons by a score
of twenty eight to twenty four. Dobs that's thrown for

(02:06:34):
one hundred and twenty two yards in a score. He's
run for forty one yards and a score, and they
have a chance minute twelve to go.

Speaker 3 (02:06:43):
Right now, let's see where they are yardage wise.

Speaker 1 (02:06:46):
Right now, they're at the Minnesota thirty nine.

Speaker 4 (02:06:48):
By the way, Jordan adisotta from the amendous catch to
keep this drive alive.

Speaker 2 (02:06:52):
So they're at the Atlanta thirty seven yard line is
where they are right now. So they're at the Atlanta
thirty seven yard line, but they need a touchdown. The
field goal is not going to help them. There's a
nice pass by Dobbs that did catch it. They call
that a complete or incomplete.

Speaker 1 (02:07:08):
He was looking for Hawkinson, right, Yeah, I think that's incomplete.

Speaker 2 (02:07:12):
So it looked like he had caught the ball, but
did he hold onto the ball and he did not,
all right, So that's an incomplete pass, all right.

Speaker 1 (02:07:20):
So, by the way, that Addison catch, to Chris's point,
that was unbelievable. It had to be reviewed and the
completion ruling was upheld. But that, I mean, Jordan Addison
had what a draft pick by the Vikings.

Speaker 2 (02:07:33):
By the way, in the meantime, Buccaneers trailing the Texans
thirty three to thirty, just had the two minute warning.
Have a third and eighteen right now from their own
forty three yard line, and there's a penalty flag. Meanwhile,
Dobbs has run out of bounds. I'm trying to do
two games of once, yea, yeah, So the Vikings now

(02:07:55):
face a third and seven at the Atlanta thirty four
yard line, down by four, So Tampa comes out of
a two minute warning with a third and eighteen at
their own forty three and you get an illegal procedure.

Speaker 1 (02:08:08):
Yikes.

Speaker 3 (02:08:09):
So now it's third and twenty three from their own
thirty eight yard line. How does that happen out of
a timeout.

Speaker 1 (02:08:15):
Trailing by three? And yeah, you have all that time
to figure things out, my mean, yes, And.

Speaker 2 (02:08:19):
They're trying to get into field goal position here five
yards critical at this point.

Speaker 1 (02:08:24):
Yeah, and I'm guessing Baker in the huddle, being a veteran,
was like, hey, listen, let's go hard, gun.

Speaker 2 (02:08:30):
Big pass by Baker Mayfield. But it's going to be
short of a first down. But down to the forty
one yard line of the Texans, they're still not in
field goal range.

Speaker 3 (02:08:39):
Fourth down coming.

Speaker 1 (02:08:39):
Up, and they got two timeouts left, so if this
drive starts stalling at any point, they can go to
the timeouts here preserve the clock. But there's one fifty
five left, so they got plenty of time to work
with here to score, all right.

Speaker 2 (02:08:54):
Meanwhile, in the Vikings Falcons game, or inside a minute
to go, fifty two seconds left, and the Vikings are
at the Atlanta thirty four yard line with a fourth
and seven again, a field goal does them no good.
So fourth and seven for josh Dobbs and we'll see
what happens there. Meanwhile, the fourth down play for the Bucks,
fourth and two, and Baker Mayfield scrambles.

Speaker 3 (02:09:15):
And gets the first down.

Speaker 1 (02:09:17):
Unreal.

Speaker 2 (02:09:17):
And meanwhile Dobbs scrambles and he gets a first down.
And more so, both quarterbacks scramble on fourth down and
both get first downs.

Speaker 1 (02:09:27):
Yeah, so Dobbs now he needed to do it himself
because in their third down efficiency, let alone fourth down,
they're six of fifteen so far today trying to throw
the football the majority of the times.

Speaker 3 (02:09:41):
Didn't we say at the beginning when Dobbs came in,
just run the ball.

Speaker 1 (02:09:44):
Yeah, yeah, honestly a lot of play auction roll.

Speaker 2 (02:09:47):
He ran all the way down to the twelve yard line.
Right now, fifty one seconds to go. So again, the
Vikings need a touchdown, and thanks to Joshua Dobbs, they
got a shot here.

Speaker 1 (02:09:58):
They absolutely do all right.

Speaker 2 (02:10:00):
Thirty nine seconds officially on the clock right now, Falcons
lead twenty eight to twenty four. Dobbs is looking to pass.
He's got time and it's incomplete. So a second and
ten thirty four seconds left. Meanwhile, Baker Mayfield also did
a scramble and the Bucks situation different. They can tie
this game with a field goal a minute.

Speaker 3 (02:10:20):
Two to go. Houston leading Tampa by.

Speaker 2 (02:10:22):
A score of thirty three to thirty, and the Bucks
have a first down at the Houston thirty six yard line.

Speaker 1 (02:10:28):
Yeah, now they're pretty close, if not within field goal
range here. So they've got a throttle back and start
thinking about how much time they want to leave the
Houston Texans. So you take that time out, you catch
your breath.

Speaker 2 (02:10:41):
A little bit, big run for Houston inside the thirty
twenty eight yard line, so they've got in field goal
range for sure.

Speaker 3 (02:10:47):
Now, meanwhile, do the.

Speaker 1 (02:10:48):
Box you mean for the Bucks the Bucks.

Speaker 2 (02:10:50):
Meanwhile, Dobbs throws over in the middle of the pass
is complete down to the six yard line. The Vikings
do have timeouts, but they're not using I guess they're
just using one there there it is. So they have
one time out remaining twenty seven seconds left and they
have a third and five at the Atlanta seven yard line.

Speaker 1 (02:11:08):
So another beautiful usage of the clock, A perfect example
of what to do at the end of the game. With
Kevin O'Connell head coach of the Vikings, because now you're
going to have a couple attempts at very least at
the end zone to win this game, which is the
only way you're gonna walk out of here with the
win is with a score. You gotta score a touchdown,
trailing by four, and you have twenty seven seconds left

(02:11:29):
on the clock, plenty of time to throw at least
three passes, two passes to the end zone on third
and fourth down, if not get the first down and
have a fresh set of downs to do so.

Speaker 2 (02:11:38):
All right, so let's reset now, all right, back to
Minnesota Atlanta. Third and five at the Atlanta seven yard line.
Dobbs is going to look to pass. He throws to
the end zone.

Speaker 3 (02:11:47):
And is caught touchdown.

Speaker 2 (02:11:50):
Vikis wow, wow, Joshua Dobbs to Brandon Powell.

Speaker 3 (02:11:56):
I mean, think about this.

Speaker 2 (02:11:57):
Dobbs was picked up this week, was not expected to
play it all.

Speaker 3 (02:12:01):
Jalen Hall got the start, he got hurt.

Speaker 2 (02:12:03):
They had to throw Dobbs into the game, and now
there are twenty seconds away from possible victory. Now again,
an extra point makes of a three point game, still
sometime for the Texans, but this would be unbelievable for
the Vikings on the road with Dobbs at quarterback in
this game.

Speaker 1 (02:12:21):
You know, it's odd that Baker Mayfield and the Tampa
Bay Buccaneers are the other team trailing right now, because
remember it was Baker Mayfield who was released by Carolina,
signed by the Rams and filled in for the Rams
and won the game for them his first week with
the team.

Speaker 3 (02:12:37):
Did you see what happened in the in the Tampa
Bay b game?

Speaker 1 (02:12:39):
I didn't look at it. What we got.

Speaker 2 (02:12:40):
We had a fumble and it was recovered by Tampa Bay.
Houston had a chance to recover. Mike Evans stole the
ball away and recover the ball.

Speaker 1 (02:12:50):
Oh my gosh. Okay, So this is what it was.
It was a deep pass over the middle to Trey Palmer.
He was stripped for eleven yards at the Houston eighteen.
He was stripped, he fumbled it recovered by Mike Evans
at the Houston fourteen. Holy smokes.

Speaker 2 (02:13:07):
So now they are marking the ball at the ten
yard line where the fumble because you can't advance a fumble,
so it's where the fumble occurred. So it's a first
and goal right now for the Buccaneers. They are at
the ten yard line. Now I'm looking up. Bucks have
one time out remaining. There's thirty seven seconds left. At
the very least they got a short field goal to

(02:13:28):
send this game in overtime. But you know they don't
want that. They want the victory. So the ball now
it is at the fourteen yard line.

Speaker 1 (02:13:35):
Yeah, that's where the fumble occurred.

Speaker 3 (02:13:37):
Right, So the fumble occurred of the fourteen You can't advance.

Speaker 1 (02:13:40):
A fumble placed under review, and.

Speaker 3 (02:13:42):
So they're going to look at this. But it was
a clear fumble.

Speaker 2 (02:13:44):
It was a striped fumble and three Texans are right
there to grab it.

Speaker 12 (02:13:50):
Now.

Speaker 1 (02:13:51):
Is there any way to question whether he caught it?

Speaker 3 (02:13:54):
No, he had it because he took at least he
did take.

Speaker 1 (02:13:56):
It two steps. Yeah yeah yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:13:57):
By the way, Vikings did get the extra point. So
thirty one to twenty eight, Vikings lead. And now the
the Falcons looking for a miracle here as they trail
by three with just twenty two seconds left.

Speaker 3 (02:14:12):
They will start at their own twenty five yard line.

Speaker 2 (02:14:14):
But this is this unbelievable with this Dobbs appearance for
the Fightings.

Speaker 1 (02:14:19):
Yeah, like I said, it's so funny. That you have
Baker leading the comeback, because when he joined the Rams,
this was the same storyline and Stafford was down, he
was hurt. Baker filled in and all of a sudden
it was magic. His first week with the Rams on
what what was that like? Two days preparation? Right, it
was unbelievable. And so Josh Dobbs is doing that right
here in in Atlanta against these Falcons, who again, you know,

(02:14:46):
they mirror the same record as the Vikings four and
four looking to advance in their division or keep the lead,
I should say, are they're starting to advance the football.

Speaker 2 (02:14:56):
All right, So here we are again. They had to
reset the clock, was the problem. So they set the
clock back to forty nine seconds to go. Tampa, with
the ball trailing by three, they have a first intend
at the fourteen yard line of the Texans. Meanwhile, Atlanta's
last gasp right now, and they got a long way

(02:15:18):
to go, a long way to go. They're at the
thirty four yard line here. They need another thirty yards
to get into a field goal range. They do have
a timeout remaining, so they do have a chance to
play over the field. Meanwhile, Mayfield throws in the end
zone touchdown Tampa Bay.

Speaker 1 (02:15:33):
Wow. Wow, this is unbelievable.

Speaker 2 (02:15:39):
Kate Onen right there with the touchdown reception on the
pass from Baker Mayfield. So the Buccaneers take the lead
and with an extra point could take a four point lead.

Speaker 1 (02:15:51):
What a pass, What a game for Baker Mayfield nineteen
of twenty eight. He threw the second touchdown pass right there,
and he's really spread the ball round well so far
today one, two, three, four. He's found seven different receivers
so far today, obviously highlighting Mike Evans, but Kate Aughton
that's his six catch for sixty seven yards in the

(02:16:14):
two touchdown performance for him. Rashad White involved out of
the backfield, big day for Baker Mayfield and leading the
charge all the way back. Now lead by four against
the Houston Texans in Houston.

Speaker 2 (02:16:25):
All right, so the X one, as you mentioned, Rich
is good. Thirty seven to thirty three Bucks lead the Texans.

Speaker 1 (02:16:30):
Now. CJ.

Speaker 2 (02:16:31):
Stroud, who's thrown for three hundred and ninety five yards
and four touchdowns, So no picks today for the Texans
is going to have you know, forty plus seconds to
go to try to get a touchdown because they're down
four points Atlanta down to literally their last gas. We
got five seconds to go. They are at their own

(02:16:52):
forty yard line. There's not enough time to get a
pass completed and get a field goal. Team on this
is it. They're gonna have to go for a hail Mary.
Heinike throws the ball deep and it is almost cott,
almost about the five yard line. But this game is

(02:17:13):
over the Vikings. Thanks that Joshua Dobbs has come back
to win on the road against the Falcons. All right, Wow,
unbelievable finishes around the NFL.

Speaker 3 (02:17:25):
More to come. This is Fox Sports Red Zone Radio.
Cops back to.

Speaker 9 (02:17:29):
Pass on third down, he stays in the pocket, fires.

Speaker 1 (02:17:32):
To the end zone.

Speaker 3 (02:17:33):
Touchdown.

Speaker 12 (02:17:37):
Brendon Powell the Forder Falcon has Dayton the Atlanta.

Speaker 15 (02:17:42):
Falcons with a six yard touchdown pass from josh Dobbs.
Thirty twenty eighth Minnesota with twenty seconds ago.

Speaker 2 (02:17:53):
That's ninety eight Rock Buccaneers a radio network and game
over right Bucks leading thirty seven to thirty three over
the Texans. Ladies and gentlemen, you're listening to Fox Sports
Red Zone Radio, Hartman and Ornberger live from the tire
Rack dot Com studios. Not so fast as if the
rookie status of c J. Stroud hadn't already gone next level,

(02:18:19):
It just went through the stratosphere of ladies and gentlemen.

Speaker 1 (02:18:22):
C J.

Speaker 2 (02:18:22):
Stroud just led the Texans to a winning touchdown his
fifth touchdown pass of the day.

Speaker 1 (02:18:32):
C J.

Speaker 2 (02:18:32):
Stroud thirty of forty two, four hundred and seventy yards.
That is an all time NFL rookie record for a
single game. Five touchdowns, no picks. The Texans are going
to beat the Buccaneers by a score of thirty nine
to thirty seven unless rich from their own twenty.

Speaker 3 (02:18:54):
Five yard line.

Speaker 2 (02:18:54):
Baker Mayfield has one more miracle and what has been
an umblelive They're going to go with the lateral play
at the end. They're running the ball up the middle.
They go lateral. The ball is still alive. They gave
it to a lineman. That's never a good idea. No,
and there it is. The ball is over. It is over.
Houston has defeated Tampa by a score of thirty nine

(02:19:16):
to thirty seven. All Right, superlatives like where do we
go now?

Speaker 1 (02:19:21):
With c J.

Speaker 2 (02:19:22):
Stroud thirty to forty two an NFL rookie record four
hundred and seventy yards, five touchdowns, no picks, and he
went down the field in a matter of seconds. You
win this game for the Texans.

Speaker 1 (02:19:35):
Yeah, I mean, let's let's all be realistic with each other. CJ.
Stroud is one of the best quarterbacks in the league
this year. Absolutely, that's the sentence. That's the sentence, Like.

Speaker 2 (02:19:47):
Forget the rookie status. He is one of the premier
quarterbacks in the league this year.

Speaker 1 (02:19:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:19:52):
Yes, I mean you could honestly say, for a team
with so limited talent that they're sitting at four and
four right now, I dare.

Speaker 3 (02:19:59):
Say he gets MVP votes.

Speaker 2 (02:20:01):
I mean, who's more valuable to their TJE than CJ.

Speaker 3 (02:20:06):
Stroud is to the Houston Texans.

Speaker 1 (02:20:08):
I could argue he's the most valuable player in the league.
I mean, if we're talking about I mean, this is
a season that shouldn't even be resembling a five hundred record, right.
I mean again, if you just look at roster, if
he was all of a sudden transplanted into Kansas City,
or into Seattle, or into Philadelphia, or into any of

(02:20:31):
these situations Buffalo where he's he's got a better roster
around him, he would be unstoppable.

Speaker 2 (02:20:39):
All right, rich, let's hear the actual call of what
turned out to be the game winning touchdown.

Speaker 8 (02:20:45):
CJ gets the snap, CJ looking throwing to the end zone.

Speaker 12 (02:20:50):
Es Salid, So what the wast up?

Speaker 3 (02:20:54):
Said, fucking crow?

Speaker 12 (02:20:57):
My goodness, want to come back?

Speaker 1 (02:21:01):
Go Koops young'stan gets it done?

Speaker 13 (02:21:06):
Are you kidding?

Speaker 2 (02:21:08):
So this was this was unbelievable how they were able
to maneuver and get this play into the end zone.

Speaker 3 (02:21:18):
This final drive.

Speaker 2 (02:21:21):
Was a six play, seventy five yard drive in forty
seconds by CJ.

Speaker 3 (02:21:28):
Stroud. By the way, that was.

Speaker 2 (02:21:29):
The Texans if you could get tell Texans radio network.
So forty seconds left, seventy five yards, six plays, doo touchdown,
game over.

Speaker 1 (02:21:40):
Listen, CJ. Shroud, he's thrown for going into this game
eighteen hundred yards, nine touchdowns in an interception. He leaves
this game with over two thousand yards, over twenty two
hundred yards. Yes, he's got fourteen on the year now, yeah,
for in terms of touchdowns one interception.

Speaker 3 (02:21:58):
Fourteen to one.

Speaker 1 (02:22:00):
I mean he protects the football, he gets rid of it,
he doesn't get sacked aton, he preserves himself. He's smart,
he's able, he's a system quarterback. He's able to operate
within a system, and then also he has the capabilities
of escaping pressure and making plays on his own. C J.
Stroud again is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.

(02:22:22):
He's in the MVP conversation and you cannot exclude him
any longer. He will not be denied. This come from
behind victory for the Texans. I mean, this is the
stuff that builds confidence in a franchise around a quarterback.
This is I mean, look, and the mcnairs have money.
It's not like they can't invest in this roster and

(02:22:43):
build I mean, they've done it before. They'll do it again,
especially when you have a special talent like him.

Speaker 2 (02:22:49):
Unball believable and they got a special coach in Jamiico
Ryans as well. All right, So there you go, the
Texans miracle victory. All right, let's find out what is.

Speaker 3 (02:22:57):
Trending right now. So, Monci, is there anything happened?

Speaker 10 (02:23:01):
I don't know because I was just watching that game,
So if anything happened, I missed it.

Speaker 11 (02:23:05):
That was a crazy game, I believed.

Speaker 10 (02:23:07):
Not to mention that the Houston Texans lost their kicker.

Speaker 11 (02:23:11):
That was another big part of their story.

Speaker 2 (02:23:12):
By the way, they don't win this game without that
field go by the running back.

Speaker 10 (02:23:16):
Dare ohgu bowally, Yeah, a seven year running back veteran, right.

Speaker 3 (02:23:23):
So they have no kicker, no kicker, so they had
to That's why.

Speaker 2 (02:23:26):
By the way, they only won by two at the end,
because they had a kicker to kick the extra point.

Speaker 11 (02:23:30):
Isn't that insane? Just like everything that went their way?
Good job CJ. Stroud.

Speaker 10 (02:23:36):
This shouldn't, but it does cloud a little bit of
what Joshua Dobs did in Minnesota. Nobody was expecting him
to play and in the first quarter they're starting quarterback
Jaron Hall out of the game with a concussion. Incomes
Joshua Dobs, just five days after being traded to the
Minnesota Vikings. There, he is twenty of thirty one hundred
and fifty eight yards two touchdowns, also had a rushing

(02:23:59):
touch down, and the Vikings with a shocking victory over
the Falcons. Thirty one twenty eight was the final score,
so Minnesota is now five and four while the Falcons
are four and five. The Browns they crushed the Cardinals
twenty seven zero. Clayton Tune was a quarterback for the
Cardinals he only threw for fifty eight yards. He was
sacked seven times. That's needed an ice bath and then some.

(02:24:22):
Deshaun Watson nineteen of thirty two hundred and nineteen yards
and two touchdowns, but it was Amari Cooper who had
a five receptions one hundred and thirty nine yards and
one touchdown. The Ravens dominated the Seahawks thirty seven to three.
I'm gonna speed this up because I feel I'm gonna
start cofeeing the Packers.

Speaker 11 (02:24:35):
Crews passed the Rams twenty to three.

Speaker 10 (02:24:37):
The Commanders held on to beat the Patriots twenty to seventeen,
and the Saints outscored the Bears twenty four to seventeen.
And in Germany, the Chiefs did take down the Dolphins
twenty one to seventeen. And in college sports, USC has
relieved its defensive coordinator Alex Scrinch of his duties, so
USC defensive line coach Seannua and inside linebackers coach Brian
Odin will serve as co defensive coordinators.

Speaker 3 (02:25:01):
She got it, by the way, by the way, as
she's no right.

Speaker 2 (02:25:03):
Now, here's the thing, moncey, I have done live television
where I am about to have a coughing attack.

Speaker 3 (02:25:15):
And talk about racing.

Speaker 2 (02:25:17):
I had one time where I was racing to the
end of a story and I had to get to
like a highlight, like there was like a ten second
video highlight. As soon as I tossed, I went into
this violent coughing attack so much, I.

Speaker 3 (02:25:34):
Think we fully lost Monsey for the day. She was
coughing up. Look, and I've been there. I've been there
many times.

Speaker 1 (02:25:39):
Well, she's a smoker and has been for many, many years.
I mean, it's crazy packs one packs of Marlboro Reds,
and we've been trying to help.

Speaker 3 (02:25:48):
She goes unfiltered.

Speaker 2 (02:25:50):
Oh, I've apologized, makes it a little bit, but she's okay,
and so are we.

Speaker 12 (02:25:57):
All right.

Speaker 2 (02:25:58):
Unbelievable, uh, and that you know people are like lousy
schedule forget that. Who cares? Man, You know you're gonna
get some great finishes. We had two amazing finishes led
by Dobbs and Stroud today in the NFL. All right,
so we got three games going on right now, Colts
of the Panthers, Giants of the Raiders, and Cowboys at

(02:26:20):
the Eagles. By the way, the Raiders Aidan O'Connell. It's
been announced that Jimmy Garoppolo is done. He has finished.
Aidan O'Connell will be the quarterback for the rest of
the year and your former teammate and roommate, Brian.

Speaker 3 (02:26:32):
Hoyer will be the backups.

Speaker 2 (02:26:34):
So you can say goodbye to Jimmy Garoppolo in a
Raider uniform. Raiders right now, by the way, have a
second and two at the Giants seventeen yard line if
you missed a Daniel Jones back a quarterback for the
Giants today. Meanwhile, the Colts are trying to get into
the end zone here. And if you're the Panthers right now,

(02:26:56):
because we talked about this earlier about whether they ever
actually considered taking CJ. Stroud over Bryce Young, the pressure
on Bryce Young and the Panthers just one up another notch. Yep, Yeah,
I mean, I mean again to at least show. I mean,
they're coming off their first win of the year. Wasn't pretty,

(02:27:19):
but it was a w But as CJ. Stroud's star
power goes into the stratosphere, more and more pressure on
Bryce Young and these Panthers.

Speaker 1 (02:27:29):
Yeah, it's impossible to ignore. You know, when you are
the team who's picking first, what happens directly behind you.
What happens a couple of spots behind you, especially when
we're talking about comparable, if not the same position. You know, Okay,
I get it. You know, maybe if you draft a
running back and that running back is unproductive and another

(02:27:53):
team below you gets a receiver, you get a quarterback,
and another team or another team below you gets a
tight end. Yeah, those comparisons are made. But this is
a one overall pick and two overall pick, same position comparison.
So that means that the Carolina Panthers unequivocally could have
selected CJ. Stroud. They had a need at quarterback and

(02:28:17):
that was made apparent by their selection of Bryce Young
with their first overall pick, and they decided to go
with him instead of c J. Stroud. Now, this does
not mean if CJ. Stroud went to Carolina he would
be having the level of success he's having in Houston,
because remember, again, fit matters. Maybe CJ. Stroud would fit

(02:28:37):
even better with Carolina than he does with Houston. We
don't know the answer that question, and so it's not
really fair to compare. But you know, if you're the
owner of the Carolina Panthers, you're asking that question Why
does he look so good? Why does our guy look
so bad? Why did we spend all this money on
this guy? Why does their guy perform so much? It's

(02:28:59):
this this is the world you live in. It's a
results driven business. And so far CJ. Stroud again looks
like one of the best quarterbacks in the league. And
Bryce Young looks like he's got a lot to learn
at this level.

Speaker 2 (02:29:11):
All right, So we have the cowboy excuse me, Cowboys Eagles,
no score.

Speaker 3 (02:29:16):
Jalen Hurts was very lucky.

Speaker 2 (02:29:18):
He got stripped of the ball trying to throw the ball,
but the ball bounced back into his hands. So Eagles
have the ball. No score early. And how about the Raiders.
Antonio Pierce is the new coach of this team after
the firing of Josh McDaniels, And on their opening drive
with Ado O'Connell under center, the Raiders score a touchdown

(02:29:39):
on a Jacobe Myers, one of those former Patriots, that
was brought in on an end around seventeen yards for
the score. So the Raiders first drive with the new
coach touchdown.

Speaker 1 (02:29:50):
Well, listen, sometimes and this is man. Is this true?
Sometimes it's just about energy level and attitude. Sometimes not
a lot of changes. You know, there probably weren't a
ton of changes week over week in terms of game plan, strategy,
offensive plays, etc. But the reality is, sometimes, you know,

(02:30:13):
when there's a change made and there's a little more
enthusiasm in the building, players really rally around a coach.
This happened actually with the same exact team after the
Gruden resignation. Remember Gruden was forced out by the team
ownership after those emails were revealed that he said, you know,
misogynistic and homophobic and racist remarks, and so he lost

(02:30:36):
his job with the Raiders, and Rich Bisaccia, the special
teams coach, took over. Players loved Bisacia. They wanted him
to be named the head coach and take over officially
after being named the interim head coach because he guided
that Raiders team to kind of a comeback season and
a playoff entrance against the Bengals who had to take

(02:30:57):
them I believe into overtime to win.

Speaker 3 (02:30:59):
It was hold on touchdown Eagles.

Speaker 2 (02:31:02):
There you go, Kenneth Gainwell diving into the end zone.
So the UH Cowboys on their opening drive three and out,
the Eagles touchdown Jalen Hurts opening drive six to seven
sixty nine yards.

Speaker 3 (02:31:16):
Think about Basachia was he was like a raider, right
he was? He was a raider.

Speaker 2 (02:31:21):
Josh McDaniels was not a raider, and the raiders should
know from their own history. Going back to the Mike
Shanahan situation.

Speaker 1 (02:31:29):
Yep, yeah, I agree with you gotta be a raider.

Speaker 2 (02:31:32):
You have to understand what the organization about. And here's
the thing. As a former employee of the Silver and Black,
you gotta buy in. You have to buy in one
hundred percent.

Speaker 1 (02:31:44):
There's something to be said about matching the intensity of
the fan base, like like like you said, Rich Bissacia,
he kind of had it. John Gruden, John Ruden ra Look,
I mean until everything went down the way it did,
John Gruden had it. But I mean and again getting
caught with those emails saying some awful things like it
is what it is. They had to get rid of

(02:32:06):
John Gruden. So so they went after mcdoniel McDaniels, who
tried to make it Patriots West. It did not take
you know, you know, it was a good example of
this where you need to have a coach that matches
kind of the same tempo of the fan base. Dan
Campbell with the Detroit Lions. Dan Campbell with Detroit. When
you look at Dan Campbell, could you imagine Detroit having

(02:32:27):
a different coach now the answer is no. Now you
got this thick neck, you know, kind of you know,
maniac brute with the goatee leading the charge, and he
wanted to bring a live lion on the sideline. Like
this is the type of guy you need to in
Motor City for things to work out. You kind of
have to match the fan base his energy, and I

(02:32:47):
don't think McDaniels ever did.

Speaker 2 (02:32:49):
By the way, the Eagles got penalized in the extra point,
so now they're looking at a forty three yard extra
point and it is still good. So the Eagles lead
the Cowboys by a score of seven to nothing.

Speaker 3 (02:33:02):
What a day it's been. What a day.

Speaker 2 (02:33:03):
It's going to be much more coming up. This is
Fox Sports Red Zone Radio ops.

Speaker 9 (02:33:10):
Back to pass on third down, he stays in the pocket, fires.

Speaker 3 (02:33:13):
To the end zone. Touchdown.

Speaker 12 (02:33:18):
Brendon Powell, the former Falcon has Dayton the Atlanta Falcons.

Speaker 15 (02:33:24):
With a six yard touchdown pass from Josh Dobbs thirty
twenty eighth Minnesota with.

Speaker 9 (02:33:32):
Twenty seconds ago.

Speaker 2 (02:33:34):

even have Ryan today. Everybody helping out. Hey, let's get
a little more insight on that huge Vikings victory.

Speaker 5 (02:34:18):
It's time for the NFL on Fox Focus.

Speaker 2 (02:34:22):
Antonia's right now from Fox Sports. She was on the
sideline for this miracle win. Considering Joshua Dobbs wasn't even
supposed to play this week. Christina Pink is joining us
right now. So Christina, first of all, thanks for joining
us for a couple of minutes here on Fox Sports Radio.
So he wasn't even supposed to play this week. I
don't even know if Dobbs knew any plays in the playback.

(02:34:44):
We were kidding that when he came into the game,
look look for an open receiver.

Speaker 3 (02:34:48):
He's not open.

Speaker 1 (02:34:49):
Run.

Speaker 3 (02:34:50):
He pretty much did just that.

Speaker 2 (02:34:51):
But give us a sense of just how a miracle
this was for Joshua Dobbs to step in this week
with the Vikings and pull out this come from behind victory.

Speaker 16 (02:35:02):
I think miracle is probably a great way to describe it.
I'm not even sure if he knew all the names
of the guys hotle. It was a pretty incredible feat
by him. But you know, even talking with Kevin O'Connell
at halftime, he's like, we're piecing this together right now,
because you spend the entire week preparing for Jaron and
Joshua dogs who has only been with the team for

(02:35:23):
a couple of days, three practices where he's not even
getting reps. To step out there and play the way
he did was pretty incredible. Obviously they had some hiccups
early on, but he showed a lot of poise, especially
on that game winning drive.

Speaker 1 (02:35:35):
Yeah, and then you look at the other side of
this matchup with a player like Bijon Robinson, I have
a backfield for the Atlanta Falcons. It's confusing as to
why he's been underutilized, especially in a game where they
could have used some offense, especially later later on any
any update from Arthur Smith that all throughout the week
or today on what the story is with their rookie

(02:35:58):
running back who really seems like he's ready to go,
but he's been sort of rained in a little bit here.

Speaker 16 (02:36:04):
Yeah, Vijon is a star and we've had the Falcons
probably four times this year, so it's come up a lot.
And actually talked to Jon about it in warm up.
You know, Arthur Smith is thinking long term. He's thinking,
you know, we've got to make sure he's a rookie.
We can't overload him as far as the workload. And
Jon told me the same thing before the game. He's like, look,

(02:36:25):
when it comes to coach, like he's always checking in
on me, making sure I'm progression. But I think progressing.
But I think they're just trying to manage him and
making sure that both their backs get plays and they
don't overload a pretty young guy in this league.

Speaker 3 (02:36:37):
All right back to Minnesota, I mean, this is a
big game.

Speaker 2 (02:36:39):
Both scenes because they were both four and four obviously,
now the Vikings are at five and four, they made
the deal for Dobbs. You know, obviously with Kirk Cousins
out for the year, you're looking at the rookie Jaron Hall.

Speaker 3 (02:36:50):
Can he get it done? Now you've got Dobbs?

Speaker 2 (02:36:54):
I mean, what is the feeling from Kevin O'Connell, from
the Vikings in discovering that Joshua Dobbs. And by the way,
anyone that saw Dobbs beat the Cowboys earlier this year
with the Cardinals played very well in a loss of
the forty nine ers earlier knows he's capable.

Speaker 3 (02:37:11):
But is there a sense in that locker room post
game that.

Speaker 2 (02:37:14):
Wow, we're going to be okay even losing our starting quarterback.

Speaker 5 (02:37:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 16 (02:37:19):
I mean he's done this several times this year. I mean,
you mentioned the win against the Cowboys, but he really
played well in a lot of other games that they
ended up losing. And it's just that adaptability that he's
been able to do throughout his career. I think it's
what like five teams over the last calendar year that
he's played for free training camp with one and then
traded to Arizona and now joining these guys this season.

(02:37:43):
You know, I didn't get a chance to talk with
coach post game, but you got to get a sense
that they feel a little bit more comfortable about what
the outlook looks like. With the way Dobbs played today, well,
I don't got the stretch of that game now.

Speaker 2 (02:37:56):
I don't think a lot of people have victor predicted
that kind of a game the Vikings and the Mawkins,
but it turned out to be one of the games
of the day. Christina, thanks so much for joining us.

Speaker 16 (02:38:06):
Oh, no problem, thank you for having me.

Speaker 3 (02:38:09):
That's Christina Pink there on the sidelines for Fox.

Speaker 1 (02:38:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:38:12):
I mean again, when we talk about you look at
matchups like two four and four teams. Falcons have a
Heineke and the Vikings don't have a quarterback. Well, they
do have a quarterback. I mean, she's talking about this
rich where Dobbs didn't even take any snaps this week. No, no, listen,
I didn't even know the names of his teammates when you.

Speaker 1 (02:38:30):
Get their fresh off of trade. That's what a team
is trying to do. They're just trying to get you acclimated,
get you introduced to everybody again.

Speaker 2 (02:38:37):
But you have a rookie quarterback who's been there, and
you're trying to get him up to speed, to get
him to go for this game.

Speaker 1 (02:38:43):
Well, they're in emergency mode. Would you lose your starting
quarterback who was on an expiring deal. But at very
least you thought you'd have them throughout the season. You
thought you were going to have plenty of time to
work with with Jaren Hall to get him up to
date and give him maybe a shot next offseason or
potentially next season altogether. He's forced into action. You trade

(02:39:06):
for Josh Dobbs because the injury comes before Halloween, and
you got an opportunity just to get him, I don't know,
into the playbook, maybe on the iPad.

Speaker 3 (02:39:15):
I mean, how much time with no snaps, That's my point.

Speaker 2 (02:39:19):
I mean that's for him to actually because he was
throwing accurate passes to receivers.

Speaker 3 (02:39:24):
It was unbelievable.

Speaker 2 (02:39:25):
By the way, the Cowboys have just scored on a
Dak Prescott to Jake Ferguson pass, so Eagles and Cowboys
are tied at one. But I again, people listening in
and saying, wow, you know he's throwing the but you
have no idea how.

Speaker 1 (02:39:39):
Miraculous this was. No, it is believable. He threw the
football to I'm counting him right now. He threw the
football to nine different receivers. He got TJ. Hockinson involved
to the tune of seven receptions. Jordan Anderson Addison, who's
the standout rookie wide receiver, five catches for fifty two

(02:40:01):
yards through it to Alexander Madison as well for a
touchdown pass earlier in the game that Brandon Powell scored
for the win. He also was responsible for rushing a
touchdown himself. Josh Stopps took over this game and is
the reason why the Vikings won on the road today.

Speaker 2 (02:40:18):
So we started our show today with a very quiet
first half.

Speaker 1 (02:40:22):
That's right there, weren't a.

Speaker 3 (02:40:23):
Lot of scores, no big deal.

Speaker 2 (02:40:25):
We're like, are we going to see anything today that's
going to resemble excitement? And we had some of the
most exciting finishes in the NFL this season. This is
why ladies and gentlemen, a rich great job today.

Speaker 3 (02:40:37):
