(00:22):
Sports Radio. Well yesterday, Petros Papadegas told us that the
l A Clippers had an Egyptian curse on them and
that's the only way to explain how they blue leads
of fifteen, nineteen, and twelve in giving up a three
one series lead, and the Clippers are now oh and
(00:46):
eight all time with a chance to clinch a conference
finals birth. According to uh data, that is h hate
straight losses, longest streak in NBA postseason history, and Doc
Rivers has now coached three different teams that have blown
a three one series lead. If you were looking for
(01:07):
someone to decide to hang this on, I would say
the biggest losers when it comes to the Clippers loss
number one the NBA. They are in trouble. Nobody is
watching this league at all. Their ratings have collapsed. The
whole bubble in general has not captured the American interest
(01:29):
with all of the social justice warrior dumb. By far,
the biggest loser is the NBA. Uh. Second biggest loser
I think is Paul George, who it's gonna be hard
to overcome how bad he was in Game seven and
just the disappearing act and the playoffs in general. And
(01:51):
then I would say the third biggest losers Doc Rivers.
In terms of the biggest winner, I think it's the Nuggets,
but I think close behind is labre On James because
the Lakers are going to be in the NBA Finals
and they're going to be able to win a championship
without really potentially having to beat very many good teams.
Because look, the Nuggets deserve credit for coming back from
(02:15):
through to three one series deficits and just basically refusing
to quit. Murray and Nokich have been a heck of
a combo. But between the two of them, but in general,
I think, and I'm not I'm I'm just saying this
to be honest with you. On this show, We're gonna
cover the NBA playoffs on this show one one hundred
(02:39):
as much as we covered them when it goes on
in April, May and June, and there's no competition for
the NBA. And now you're going to have and we're
gonna get to this in a minute, college football. You've
got so much going on in the world of the NFL.
You're going to have a buboled up expanded Major League
(03:02):
Baseball postseason, which I think is going to do really well,
and all of those things are going to create a
lot more interest. Plus, remember, I think a lot of
you are like, wait a minute, Oh, yeah, that's going on.
The US Opening golf starts tomorrow, So in addition to
all of the other things that are going on, I
think a lot of you are like, wait, what what's
(03:24):
going on? Yeah? Yeah, The US Open that was moved
back from June is going to be taking place starting tomorrow.
So I think this was the only way that the
NBA was gonna be able to cut through the noise
was if they were able to have the Lakers and
the Clippers playing against each other. Congratulations to the Nuggets
(03:44):
and the long suffering Nuggets fans. It's been a long
time since you guys have been in the Western Conference Finals.
But I think a pen prick as many people are
gonna care about the Lakers playing against the Nuggets, and
I don't really think that many people care about the
Heat versus this Celtics either on the Eastern Conference side.
If Lebron James somehow lost to the Denver Nuggets, I
(04:07):
think that Adam Silver would just wrap himself in chicken
cutlets and walk into one of the lakes in Orlando
and let himself be devoured by alligators, because then there
would be an unbelievable all time low. If the Nuggets
ended up playing against the Heat in the NBA Finals
at the same time as the NBA College football and
(04:30):
the Major League Baseball playoffs are all going it would
be an unmitigated disaster for the NBA, and frankly, I
think the NBA is already in a series of unmitigated disasters.
That is what it's going on there. I'll bring in
the l A crew to get their reaction here in
a minute. The other news, the Big Ten is just
(04:51):
I don't even know what they are doing at this
point in time. I told you on Saturday what the
plan was or the Big Ten that they wanted to
come back on October and play eight or nine games
before they got to their conference title game on December nineteen,
(05:12):
that they could hopefully then get a team into the
College Football Playoff because the College Football Playoffs Selection Committee
makes decisions on December. We are now entering into a
third full day since the Big Ten met on Sunday.
I don't know what they are waiting on to make
that announcement. The Big Ten continues to spend the drama
(05:37):
there as the Nebraska president came out, didn't realize his
mike was hot and said the Big Ten was announcing
the return of football on the yesterday evening, and then
they didn't actually do it. So again, I don't know
exactly what is going on there. They need to, based
(05:59):
on every buddy that I'm talking to, they need to
announce the return of the Big Ten by today. They
need to on Wednesday at least come out and officially
announced that the Big Ten is coming back and that
they want to start play on October seventeen, that weekend.
So that is what it's going on in the Big Tent. Now.
(06:20):
A lot of you out there have been saying, hey, Clay,
you fought hard for the Big ten to be able
to play, and I never would have anticipated and probably
a lot of you think this is crazy, Oh my goodness,
Clay Travis would end up being the biggest advocate in
all of the country for the Big Ten to play,
but definitely creates some strange, strange bedfellows. Indeed, that is
(06:45):
what is going to end up happening, is the Big
Ten is gonna play. And I want you guys to remember,
if you listen to this program, how many people out
there ridiculed the idea of the Big Ten playing football
this fall? When the White House got involved and tried
to help, how many people who are in the sports media,
(07:06):
the Corona Bros. And the sports media said there's absolutely
no way that the Big Ten is going to be
able to play this fall. Go back and pay attention
to this. I've tried to be straightforward, just sharing with
you what I was hearing, and the truth of the
matter is I have an out kick has been the
most reliable media source in all of the sports media.
(07:28):
I believe this for what's going to happen in the
Big Ten, and certainly we have been the most zealous
and fighting for the Big Ten to actually end up
playing well, the PAC twelve finally has picked up the
the flag and started to wave it around with a
lot of players saying, wait a minute, why in the
(07:49):
world are we not going to be able to play?
There are college football games taking place everywhere, and that's
before the SEC starts play next week all of their
games as well, which is really for many people going
to feel like the official start of the college football season.
And the SEC is not just playing, they are playing
(08:11):
with fans present in thirteen of their fourteen stadiums. Only
Vanderbilt is not gonna have fans present, And there's certainly
a joke there. And I can say this as a
double graduate school alum from Vanderbilt University. There certainly are
all already and always issues with social distancing at Vanderbilt
football games. Vanderbilt was social distancing for football games long
(08:34):
before it was cool to social distance at football games.
So the PAC twelve now starting to argue that they
should be allowed to come back, and they actually have
called out the governor of California, the governor of Oregon.
They're starting to realize that the reason they aren't playing
is not health related, it's all political. And after seeing
(08:57):
the Big Ten fight their way. Thanks of the players,
the fans, the coaches, all of the people who have
fought so hard for the Big Ten season to end
up happening. The Pact twelve players are now looking around
and saying, wait a minute, why are we not able
to play as well? And I think what you're gonna
end up with in the PAC twelve, unfortunately for PAC
(09:18):
twelve fans, is they're gonna come back and play, but
they're gonna come back and play so late that there's
really no point in them playing a season. The PAC
twelve will play a season against itself, but it will
happen in November and December, in January, and people will
be saying, well, what's the entire point of this? Because
(09:38):
the College Football Playoff is really the only reason to play.
If the PAC twelve had any leadership at all, they
would do what they did when they canceled the season
back in August and just copy whatever the Big Ten
decides to do. And so if the Big Ten is
coming back on October, to be honest, the PAC twelve
should find a way to come back on October seventeenth
(10:02):
as well. I don't think they have the political capital
or the wherewithal to make that happen. But that's what
they should do if they were actually making solid decisions.
All right. So that is where we are in the
universe of sports news. I think we have a couple
of calls last night from the NBA. Uh. Here is
(10:24):
the final call from both the Nuggets obviously rejoicing, and
from the Clippers. Uh as they recognize here is another year.
Hello darkness, my old friend, oh and eight in chances
to opportunities to advance to play in the Western Conference Finals.
Nuggets First. The Denver Nuggets enfranchise history in the Western
(10:49):
Conference Finals. One O four to eighty nine is the final,
Nuggets Nation, Let's go the shot clock turned off. P
J Dozer has it in and he will bring it
across the timeline and dribble out the clock. The Clippers
go up three one on the Denver Nuggets and dropped
the final three games of this best of seven series.
(11:12):
So uh, that is the that is the call. The
Clippers lose. The Nuggets advanced to play against the Lakers.
By the way, you barely mentioned it, but in the
Eastern Conference Finals, the Miami Heat found a way to
beat the Boston Celtics and the Celtics basically every time
they're in a close game. I mean, they lost on
that dagger three by the Raptors with point five seconds left.
(11:34):
They lost Game six, and what was it like, double
overtime and uh now they lost this game against the
heat and overtime. That is three pretty devastating losses. Where
you would expect for there to be some balancing out
of of tough losses, we have not seen it for
the Celtics. There. All right, let's go out to l A.
(11:56):
I know that there is exultation in the streets for
Laker fans, but don't you, Danny g acknowledge that in
terms of the overall NBA, the Clippers losing is bad because,
I mean, if you're a huge Laker fan, yes, you're
more likely you're six and a half point favorites over
the Nuggets to actually be able to advance. But I
(12:17):
just don't think anybody's gonna care outside of Denver and
a few Laker fans. I don't think people are going
to be like, oh, I've got to schedule my my
my day around making sure that I can watch the
Nuggets in the Lakers play. I think this is bad
for the NBA. Yeah, there's no question about that. Admit
as a Lakers fan that I would have loved to
see that matchup, but hey, you hate to see it.
(12:40):
That's one of the reasons why I wondered why the
Clippers carried themselves on the court the way they did
all year. They seemed as if they were already champs
the way, or that they had championships under their belt already,
especially Harold and Beverly talking all the smack they did
all throughout the season. There seam was just not very likable,
(13:02):
and I think what it boiled down to was chemistry.
Uh KU's talked about it on the s VP Show
last week, how the Lakers actually get along. Just a
few years ago, for the Lakers, their squad didn't have cohesiveness.
They weren't getting along off the court. This season, you
could tell that the Laker team they actually get along
and like each other. The Clippers only when they were winning.
(13:24):
It seemed like they could kind of stand each other
or gel whenever they had a big loss or we're losing.
They had bad chemistry. You could tell in their body language.
And then the fact that Doc Rivers could not get
the best out of them and pulled another disappearing act
when he was up three one in a series. It
was all bad for the Clippers, Laker fans rejoicing on Twitter,
(13:45):
and just NBA fans overall taking over Twitter. It was
like a shock wave through the sports world. First everybody
piled on Doc. Then everybody got on Kauai and PG
thirteen for disappearing because Jamal Murray had forty points, Kauai
and PG thirteen combined had twenty four. If you would
have told me that was what was going to happen
(14:06):
in Game seven, I would not have taken that bet.
Although I was watching you and your co host on
FS one yesterday, you all seemed uncomfortable picking the Clippers.
You did though, you picked the Clippers, but you were
uncomfortable picking them. Yeah. I didn't like him to cover
the seven and a half points for it because they've
given up all those double digit leads over the past
past one week or whatever it is. And I think
(14:28):
a lot of people didn't even really pay attention to
that series. And what I mean by that is the
Clippers went up three one and then I'll give you
an example. I had I bet the Clippers to close
it out in Game five and UH, and they were
up fifteen or sixteen points or whatever the heck they were.
And I went in to dinner with my wife and
(14:48):
UH and another couple. And while we're at dinner, you know,
I didn't even pay attention to my phone. And then
when dinner was over, I was like, Oh, let me
go ahead and check and see what happened. Clippers, I
assume went ahead and eliminate did the Nuggets? And then
they played again. If I'm not mistaken, they played Friday,
and they played Sunday. Well, nobody paid attention to Game
six because it was taking place during all the NFL
(15:10):
kickoff festivities, and so I think a lot of people
were like, oh, wow, there's a Game seven on Tuesday,
and then they suddenly realized the Clippers were up against it.
And the Clippers found a way to blow another double
digit lead and and they're done. And I think most
of the time. We talked about this with Jason Whitlock
on what Tuesday's edition of the show, and Whitlock said, look,
(15:32):
if Doc Rivers loses Game seven, most of the time,
given all the money that the Clippers spent and given
all that they did to put that team together. Most
of the time the coach would get fired. I don't
think Doc Rivers is going to get fired, but most
of the time, when you saw a situation like that developed,
somebody would have to fall on the sword, And certainly
(15:54):
Steve Ballmer is maybe a You know, they got the
new arena that they're building, and there are are a
lot of reasons for overall optimism with the Clippers. But
losing to the Lakers would have been acceptable if you
it would have been happy about it. But if you
get to the NBA Finals, the Western Conference Finals and
you lose to the Lakers, I think people could have
(16:14):
handled it. But losing after being up three one two
the Nuggets, there's gonna be a lot of questions about
what has to happen in order for things to change
going forward. Uh, to be fair, you didn't think that
was gonna happen. You had a futures ticket on the
Clippers right on the on the show. On the show,
I did not have a futures ticket the Dinners show.
(16:35):
I think sal did. But but at the beginning of
the season, well last summer, if we back it up,
you thought the Clippers after they pulled off the Paul
George deal and got Kauai. I remember you saying that
they were playing chess while they kept the Lakers to checkers,
because the Lakers pretty much got the leftovers that were
out there on the free agent market. And so we
(16:56):
had to hear as a Lakers fan all year, had
to suffer through my sell us widely Cowherd, Bayliss Mallard
sucking on the Clippers toes talking about how much their team,
how much more depth in and how the shooting and
the defense just overall, the Clippers had a much better
team than the Lakers, and so the Lakers were in
(17:18):
trouble if they got to the Western Conference finals. I mean,
that was the Clippers. They're not better they are. They lost.
Not better they are. They have a more talented team
than the Lakers do, but they lost. I mean sometimes
that happens. And that's why I'm saying if you are
sitting back and you are Steve Walmer, it's one thing
if you lose when you are the inferior team, that's
(17:41):
something that you can deal with, I think much easier
than when you lose and you have a superior team.
And that's why when I'm sitting back and I'm saying, Okay,
what are the consequences of losing most of the time?
In this scenario, you would fire the head coach. I
don't think that they're gonna fire Doc Rivers, But if
(18:03):
I'm Steve Balmber, I have to look back and say,
maybe it's that the team didn't like each other. Maybe
being inside of the bubble was bad for the Clippers.
We talked about this when the NBA bubble started back
in July, that ultimately team chemistry was going to be
a huge part of it. And then answering the question
who wanted to be there? Remember, the Clippers reportedly voted
(18:24):
to leave the bubble along with the Lakers voted to
leave to yeah, which again I questioned that because I
think that was an example of Lebron James being King
of the Wokes, and so because he didn't make the
decision to cancel refuse to play, that he had to
look like he was more angry about being there than
(18:46):
anybody else. So I don't really Maybe the Clippers were
just overrated. No, I think the Clippers had the best
team in the NBA, and I think they choked, And
that's why I'm saying, if I'm Steve Balmer and I
owned the team, they had the best team in the
NBA and it didn't materialize on the court. Yeah, they
had the best team on paper. I remember you were
at the opener. Yeah that's right back in October, which
(19:08):
feels like fifty years ago, and you and I remember
you tweeting out that l A was now a Clippers town. Yeah,
I mean they want then they were the better team,
and they found a way too. They found a way
to lose. And that's why, again, if you are making
an assessment on what the outcome is, if you're the
(19:31):
owner of the Clippers, like Steve Balmer, is I don't
know what the solution is because they've got the know,
they've got a lot of guys under contract, and usually
again the head coach would have to fall on his sword,
but I don't think he's gonna fire Doc Rivers, and
so I don't know what the solution is. I mean again,
I'm I'm, you know, not trying to be dramatic. I
(19:52):
don't really think there's anything the Clippers can do. They
come back next season, and next season, I think the Lakers,
with Lebron being thirty six will be rotating down again.
But the problem for the Clippers is there are a
lot of teams that are gonna be a lot better, right,
I mean, this was an opportunity for them to get
a title. I think it's the last chance for the
(20:13):
Lakers to get a title too. Um and uh. And
I just think ultimately, not only for the Clippers, but
the n B A is is gonna be in a
rough spot with the Lakers going up against the Nuggets,
competing with all the better sports activities that are out there.
I don't even think Lebron can save the NBA. Now,
(20:35):
what about you dub your big takeaways at all? From
I mean and by the way, I think the Big
Ten in the back twelve is arguably a bigger story
right now than the Clippers. The ridiculousness that's going on
in the Big Ten, the fact that Pack twelve players
have suddenly woken up and realized that if they want
to play in any way, they have to fight the
(20:55):
battle to play, And how bad the Pack twelve is
gonna look eventual you when the Big Ten announces that
they are coming back and they're trying to compete for
the college football playoff. Uh, The the whole pack Rolph
conference just gonna look ridiculous. Well, I'll start with the
NBA the Clippers Game seven, heading into the fourth quarter
down eight points, Kauai and Paul George in the fourth
(21:16):
quarter combined for zero points. And it was not because
of lack of shooting. Paul George put that shot off
of the side of the backboard, which is that's the
one that wide open. Basically, that's the one that's going
to linger for Paul George, which I think of all
the players, Paul George is going to have the most
to answer for because you like to call himself playoff
p or whatever else. And James Harden comes in for
(21:39):
a lot of criticism because he hasn't won much. Russell
Westbrook comes in for a lot of criticism. I think
you're gonna have to put Paul George into that combo
right now. And by the way, aren't all three of
those guys from l A the three most failed UH
in the postseason? Guys isn't hardened from l A UH,
Paul George from l A and Russell Westbrook all from
(22:02):
l A basketball circles. Well, Paul George from past from
Palm Down's yeah, right, But I mean that's for most
people from I guess you could say southern California from
the Inland Empire or whatever you want to call it.
But for most people, that's l a. All three of
them are the choke artist when it comes to the postseason,
and they're all from the same place. Uh and uh
that's a high level of of of irony. But I
(22:24):
just want to mention that shot off the side of
the backboard, which to me kind of personifies the Clippers
performance in Game seven. Yeah, almost every time Paul George
shot the ball late in the game. I mean even
he didn't look like he was going in no confidence whatsoever.
But for the Pact twelve, I mean, I'm surprised that
it's they're making the late push. Great, but I mean
this is way too too little, too late, in my opinion.
(22:45):
I mean, this came out of nowhere. Yesterday. I saw
the letter from USC and I saw Matt Leinert retweeting it,
trying to get some movement going there. But I mean,
to me, my expectations for the Pact twelve is they're
not going to play a single game this year. This
is way too late for them to make this push.
I think they're gonna come back and not be able
to compete for the pact being for the College Football Playoff,
(23:06):
which is gonna look ridiculous because the PAC twelve is
basically going to be playing by itself. Um and and
and I just I mean, I don't think there are
that many Pack twelve fans that care. That's the other
thing that some people said, why in the world did
the Big ten provoke all of the interest? Why the
White House get involved? Because they fought for themselves, right,
(23:26):
Some people Pack twelve like, well, the President didn't call
to try to make us happen. Well, that's because you
didn't fight for yourself. If you want people to line
up behind you, you have to allow your voice to
be heard. The PAC twelve players didn't speak out, the
PAC twelve parents didn't speak out, the PAC twelve coaches
didn't speak out. All of them just meekly accepted the
(23:48):
shutdown of their conference without saying a word. And that's
an indictment to me at the conference because the data
and the medical didn't in any way support the decision
that they made. What about you, Eddie Garcia, what stands
out to you about breaking all this universe down. Well,
I think the Big Ten is finally coming to their
(24:08):
senses and they never should have done this to begin with.
They should have waited, just like all the other major
conferences did so. I mean, I guess better late than never,
but uh, it was really a big waste of time
and unnecessary for them to go through all this. And
in my opinion as far as the Clippers go, I mean,
what a complete gutless performance a Game seven. You're the
better team, you have the better roster, and you just
completely wilt and your two key players don't show up.
(24:31):
I mean, I don't know what you do. I Steve
Ballmer certainly strikes me as a guy who's not going
to just sit on his hands and not do something
when he sees Uh, you know, that performance so very disappointing. Uh.
You know, I was looking forward to a Lakers Clippers matchup,
but I'm not a big NBA fan. Now that it's Nuggets.
Are you with me that there's I mean, that's a
disaster for the NBA, Like nobody's gonna care about Nuggets
(24:53):
versus the Lakers. Uh? Probably yeah, true, I would say, yeah,
that we everyone was already had had already you know,
predestined it was gonna be Labors is l A and
now that it's not, with all due respecting the Nuggets,
it's a pretty big letdown. Be sure to catch live
editions about kicked the coverage with Clay Travis weekdays at
six am Eastern three am Pacific. The Clippers choke if
you're just waking up with us below a three one
(25:15):
series lead. That is the third time Doc Rivers has
done at Paul George coming in for it. The Battle
of l A that everyone anticipated, certainly including me back
in July when Kauai decided to sign with the Clippers
didn't end up happening. Now the Lakers have a pretty
I would think you would think easy path to the
NBA Championship into the NBA Finals. Will anyone care? That's
(25:40):
a different story with the Celtics and the Heat on
the other side. UM, I think this is uh, this
is going to be pretty intriguing to follow out. So
I just kind of gave you a rundown. All of
the numbers are now in as we start off this
Wednesday morning in the NFL. What do I mean by that?
(26:00):
Everybody has watched either the Thursday night kickoff game tomorrow.
We come in for NFL week too, and the numbers tanked.
A lot of people in the media aren't gonna talk
about it because they they carry water for the league's
they don't want to any any time say anything that
is that is negative. I try to be as honest
with you guys every day, and I'm curious to hear
(26:23):
from my audience if you didn't watch. Okay, here's the
actual data. This was written by Bobby Barak at OutKick
dot com. Encourage you to go read out kick if
you want the truth. We try to do a good
job giving it to you every single day. Got a
couple of new hires, by the way, uh that we
continue to make. We now are up to ten different
writers at OutKick dot com. Uh, we're gonna have over
(26:46):
ten million readers. I mean, this thing is blown up
in a really big way. So we thank you for
supporting everything that we are doing on a day to day,
weekly and monthly basis. All right, here are the actual numbers.
NBC's Kickoff game down right at seven point two percent,
the CBS early window games that's like the one Eastern
(27:08):
kickoff games down nearly twelve percent over last This is
all compared to last year. Uh. Fox was up and
a big reason why they were up was a lot
of interest in the Saints game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Tom Brady still moves the needle in a big way.
So Fox was up. NBC was down just shy of
(27:29):
fifteen percent. Monday Night Football on ESPN. The first part
game down nearly eighteen percent, the second game down nearly
thirty percent. Okay, so double digit declines. The biggest declines
happened in the biggest games, the kickoff game, the Monday
night games, and the Sunday night football game. If you
(27:52):
didn't watch, why didn't you watch? Did you watch something instead?
I watched. Look, I'm not pretending that I don't I
watch everything. Okay, So people out there like, oh, you
share the ratings, Like, no, my job is to see everything, right,
I'm like your mom back in the day. Now, your
mom knew everything and my kids deal with it now, Like,
how did you know that I'm a mom. Moms know everything.
(28:13):
That's what my mom used to say. All Right, I'm
like your TV mom. I see pretty much everything in
the world of sports. I'm gonna try to keep my
eyes on it because I might need to talk about it,
so I'm gonna need to have an opinion. Uh, and
so just so you know that's what's going on with me.
I'm not boycotting anything. I'm not changing any of my behavior.
(28:34):
I'm gonna watch sports. We're gonna talk about sports here.
But there are lots of different reasons why ratings can
be collapsing. I don't think it's a coincidence people want
to argue against me. I don't think it's a coincidence
that the woker the sport, the more the ratings have
collapsed since sports returned. Let me explain, nobody cares about
(28:55):
the p g A politics right. Golf has done pretty
well since golf came back. Major League Baseball had a
super woke opening game. Since then, virtually no political talk.
Your local regional Major League Baseball team has done fabulously
well in the ratings. Okay, the NFL a lot like
(29:17):
the n b A. In the first week, it wasn't
as woke as I feared it might be, but it
was still pretty woke. People turned off, they didn't watch.
The NBA ratings have tanked, and they're gonna get worse
now because they're actually having to compete with something general rule.
The woker you are, the more your ratings have collapsed
in By the way, Hockey not very woke, although they
(29:37):
also decided not to play, which was stupid in the
wake of that Jacob Blake thing before they realized that
he was armed and he had committed a sexual assault
allegedly and his victim had called nine one and that's
why the police were there, and then everybody just stopped
talking about it with Jacob Blake. Remember how that story
just disappeared. So I am curious for everybody out there
in my audience. As someone drops off, we will take
(29:58):
your call eight seven in seven six three six nine,
and we start in Louisiana. On the OutKick v I P.
You can go sign up and become an OutKick v
i P, get an autographed copy of my book, You
get the access to the OutKick v i P line.
Go to OutKick dot com today. UH that is helping
to fuel our growth in a big way thanks to
the thousands and thousands of you who are signing up
(30:19):
UH as OutKick v i P s. Who's up first
on the v I P line? Danny G. James in Louisiana, James,
are you watching less? If so? Why? Uh? No, Clay,
I got a couple of points. I'll try to work
through them as quick as possible here. But no, I
did not watch a single second of the NFL this weekend.
Hadn't watched the NBA since they came back in the bubble,
And for me in Louisiana started back with the Drew
(30:41):
Brees statement on the national anthem. So he he cowtailed
and patronized people that really aren't his true fans anyway
while doing the ad, he ostracized his true fans. Yeah.
Then on then on top of that, the Saints decided
to put the James Jacob Blake thing on their helmet. Yeah.
Really just drove then for me, So Sunday went to
church mode the yard, watched a little women's major golf,
(31:03):
and then watched the five set US Open Men's final
in tennis. What I'd be it on Sunday? Would you
have ever watched the US Open tennis over the NFL before? Uh? No,
not before. I mean, I'll watch it, but no, I
probably wouldn't have shows it over the NFL. And you're
a Saints fan, so, and I do think that was
an unbelievable move by the Saints. They put Jacob Blake's
(31:25):
name on their helmet for practice. This is a guy
who was wanted for sexual assault, and it's it's like,
I mean, it's unbelievable to me that that didn't get
more attention. But it did get a lot of attention.
And I think your points a good one about Drew Brees.
One thing I always think about is I don't tiptoe
up to my opinion. And the reason I don't tiptoe
(31:46):
up to my opinion is I tell you exactly what
I think every single day, and if you agree, that's great.
If you disagree, that's great. I don't ever apologize because
what you just said I think is true. As soon
as Drew Brees apologize for saying he stood for the
anthem and why he stood and he thought it was
disrespectful to Neil, then he lost everybody. Thanks for the call,
(32:09):
by the way, and thanks for being a v I P.
When you apologize for something that you believe, you lose
everybody that's otherwise gonna support you. It's like, I don't
know what you out there think about abortion right, or
gun rights or anything else. That's controversial. But if I
came on and I was like, one day, hey, I'm
a big Second Amendment guy. Right. If I came on
(32:31):
and I said that, and then somebody said something about it,
and everybody was mad at me on the Internet, and
I came back the next is next day and I
was like, actually, I don't think the Second Amendment should exist.
I apologize for thinking the Second Amendments should have ever
been a right in America. Then everybody that liked me
for saying I was a Second Amendment guy would hate
(32:51):
me now, and the people that I had apologized to
wouldn't respect me anymore either, because I would be totally
limp noodle out there. I would be trying to just,
you know, be a blowing in the breeze whichever direction.
I'm gonna lick my finger and hold it up in
the air, and I'll tell you whatever I think you
want me to tell you. Now, I'm gonna tell you
(33:13):
exactly what I believe. And I think what happens so
often in this country today is people say what they think.
And I think Drew Brees means it. I think he
believes it's disrespectful to kneel for the national anthem. That's okay,
that's his opinion. He shouldn't have to apologize for it.
He shouldn't put out these hostage videos where he's pretending
(33:34):
that he doesn't believe that. And he certainly shouldn't be
practicing football with an alleged sexual assaulter's name who resisted
arrest from police and was armed with a weapon and
the reason why police were there was because his victim
called nine. He shouldn't have Jacob Blake's name on his
helmet like he's honoring it. It's freaking crazy. Another v
(33:56):
I P. Who's up next? Danny G Austin and Indie?
Austin and Indy Did you watch? And if not? Why not?
I just never looked at athletes is the best place
to get um politics advice and how to vote and
all that. But what really stuck out to me was
(34:17):
seeing the the two police and Los Angeles murdered and
then uh, seeing the Black Lives Matter channing over him.
We hope you die, we hope you die. Like that
wasn't a great look, So thanks for that. Yeah, not
a great look for people who claim to care a
(34:38):
great deal about lives to be chanting. We hope you
die when to l A police are shot and they
did absolutely nothing and they were ambushed. And by the way,
we have spoken out on that at out Kick, even
though all these athletes that want to be super woke
and speak out every time a viral video comes out.
We're donating ten dollars. I know we have a lot
of l A police listen ers uh in that area,
(35:01):
and I appreciate all of you for the work that
you do. We're donating ten thousand dollars for the capture
as a reward if that culprit, the person who shot
in cold blood ambush those two l A police, we
are offering ten thousand dollars to that reward for the
capture of that individual. It's telling that Lebron James hasn't
(35:23):
tweeted or said a single word in support of police.
Almost no NBA player at all has stepped out. Almost
no NFL player has stepped out. Almost no athlete, no team,
no league, nobody's come out and said, hey, maybe shooting
police is the wrong thing to do. We support police officers.
It's crazy, but I am one of the only people
(35:46):
the Dodgers did good for the Dodgers. What did the
Dodgers say, let me call that up for you. I
saved it. Yesterday they put out a statement saying, let's
see it's right here. Violence has no place in our society.
The L A Dodgers condemned the recent senseless acts of
violence and stand with all Angelino's in pursuit of a
safe community. Our thoughts are with the sheriff's deputy is
(36:08):
injured in the horrific incident this past weekend, as well
as their families and colleagues, and we wish them a
speedy recovery. Good for the Dodgers now, if only they
would put our cardboard to cut out somewhere visible. Uh,
And then then then I would be all about the
Dodgers as we get ready for the NBA and the
Major League Baseball postseason. By the way, John Morosi joining
us next to talk about the Major League Baseball latest
(36:30):
on the season and their decision to move into a
bubble and get ready for the postseason, where there will
be sixteen teams, eight from the n L, eight from
the A L. All right, we got a ton of
people who want to weigh in. I'm gonna ask you
to be fast, dub We're gonna pop them all up.
Who's up first? We got Gary in Utah. Gary, did
you watch? If not, why not? I did not watch
any of them. I attempted to watch the Green Bay games,
(36:53):
but as soon as they stayed in the locker room,
shout it off and I went out. And you ordinarily
would watch the NFL. But as soon as the actors
I'm assuming they're your team didn't come out for the game,
you're like, screw it, and you went to Gaike right,
I'm done. I canceled my package and everything. Yeah, thanks
for the call. I mean again, you're gonna hear a
lot of people, I think, tell you the reason why
(37:13):
they didn't watch. If you pay attention to the media,
they're gonna be like, oh, these people aren't real. That's
one of the things when the narrative questions, when people
are like oh, people like to say, oh, nobody's actually
turning off the NFL. I think you're gonna hear a
lot of listeners to out kick call in this morning
and say directly I'm turning off the NFL. The mainstream
(37:33):
media will claim that you don't exist. Who's up next?
We got Charlie and Memphis Charlie and Memphis. Did you watch?
If not? Why not? Absolutely not at all? Right, I
appreciate Charlie calling in, but it sounds like he has
been captured by a sounds like he's calling in with
one of those voice alteration software's. Uh that was it
(37:56):
just me? Or did you guys? Also? Is he totally
breaking up? Yeah? It was totally awful, totally couldn't hear
Charlie Memphis if he wants to call back in a
better line? Eight seven seven nine six three six nine
dubbed Next Lewis and Phoenix Lewis and Phoenix. Did you watch?
If not? Why not? No? It's pretty simple for me.
I'm a I'm a vet, you know, so I hate
(38:17):
what they're doing with the anthem and I'm not even
buying any any uh uh any items off the NFL anymore.
So who were you? Who were you a fan of?
First of all, thanks for the service. Who were you
a fan of? Uh? Ordinarily? And so you didn't even
you didn't even watch to see how Cam was gonna do.
You're like, screw it, I'm just not gonna watch. No, No,
(38:41):
I'm not even interested no more. That's disgusting. Thanks for
what they're doing with the anthem is beautiful. Thanks for
the call, um and look, I think there are a
lot of people like Lewis who just called in, and
the numbers reflect that it is occurring, and people want
to claim that it's not. Again, the numbers are down massively,
(39:02):
and the two factors that are moving in their favor
are most stadiums don't have fans, so that means there's
a million more people sitting at home who theoretically could
watch the NFL. That are the biggest possible NFL fans,
the people who otherwise have season tickets or buy tickets
to a game, and they're now getting to count out
of home viewing. So if that wasn't going on, you're
(39:23):
talking about NFL ratings being down like in other words,
they're getting a benefit from all of this. Who's up next?
We got Eddie in Seattle. Eddie, did you watch? If not?
Why not? Yes? I watched, uh and I enjoyed it.
I Uh. I think when the farth, like when the
NBA first started with the with the Black Lives Matter
(39:47):
and so forth, I think it was really hard to
like to take in, but over time, I uh congratulate them. Uh,
for uh Man and over all. Right, So, I mean, thanks,
thanks for your call. Let me ask you this, are
you watch? So my one of my interesting questions that
I have purely from a business perspective. Would you watch
(40:09):
so you're watching the same amount? You would say, as
you ordinarily would Eddie. Yes, And I don't think they
care if people watch. I think they'll start their own league.
They won't be multi mean is, but they'll still be
mean is. Yeah. Thanks to have a nice life. Yeah,
well they do have a nice life. Thanks for icol.
I think there's a zero percent chance they start their
(40:30):
own league. I think there's a zero percent chance. And
I actually disagree with Eddie. I think if you came
to me and you said, Clay Travis, your audience is down.
Nobody is downloading your podcast. Uh, and it's because people
don't like your show, I would have to say, well,
let me maybe reconsider the way I'm doing the show,
(40:54):
because ultimately, if you're in the business of entertainment, and
we are, I'm in the business of entertainment. It I
am competing with everybody in audio every single day. So
I thank all of you for listening. We had a
million more people listening in August than listen to us
in July. And if if you told me that our
(41:15):
audience on the website and our audience on audio and
our audience on video was tanking and I had lost
thirty or forty of my audience, I would care and
I'd be like, man, I must be doing something wrong
because other people are kicking my ass in competition. Why
is that? And I would actually look into it and
I would be trying to figure out what exactly is
(41:37):
going on? Um, all right, who is who is up next?
We got another v I P caller? We do Andrew
in Florida. Andrew in Florida. Are you watching less? If so,
why zero sports across the board? Turned my cable package
off because I'm tired of being called a racist and
I've reconnected with my family. No more wasted time looking
(41:59):
over fantasy lineups or research in this research and that
just found books again, found podcasts, living life. Thanks for
the calling, Thanks for being an OL kick v I P.
It's fascinating to me. I do think that one of
the challenges sports have is when they shut down in March,
a lot of people found other hobbies. That's one challenge
(42:21):
that I think is out there. You got so used
to watching sports, and then when you didn't have sports,
you had to find something new to do. And I
think a lot of people found something else to do,
and now sports have to fight their way back into
a habit. It's hard to get people to set habits.
It's also hard to break habits. A lot of you
(42:43):
start off your morning, and I thank you every single
day by listening to me. That's why I was here
in March and April and May when there were no
sports going on, because a lot of you listen to
my voice. And if I had said, screw it, I'm
gonna take a couple of months off, there's no sports
going on, and a lot of you would have found
another way to spend your mornings. And so I thank
(43:04):
all of you. But habits, once they're formed, stick. That's
why a lot of you, as we're in our fifth
year now without kick, a lot of you. If I
keep doing this show for the next fifteen years, a
lot of you were gonna keep showing up and listening
every morning because you've gotten used to it, and you know,
like us and you're like hanging out with us. But
if I suddenly took a year off a lot of
you would find something else to do. If I took
(43:26):
months off, you might find something else to do. Who's
up next? Up? We got Bob in Nashville. Bob, what
did you do? Why did you stop watching? Uh? The
hypocricy um the first in the NBA and then the
NFL where the NBA comes insides with China and UH
against and so when they're supporting these Marxist organizations. Eddie
(43:49):
was a perfect example. We said when the when he
first started playing BLM up there, he didn't comfortable with it,
but he grew into it. Well, that's the way communism works.
These people standing for the n fail. They should be
standing for and with police, not against authority. That they
should be standing with a police for authority. There's no
(44:10):
ath by these sports professionals. They don't recognize authority. Thanks
for the calling people. I look, the media would tell
you that the people calling in right now don't exist
because they'll come up with all these different theories other
than people want their sports to just be entertainment. They'll
tell you because this has been my thesis. This has
(44:33):
been my thesis that if you alienate your viewer, they
choose to spend their time doing something else. The NFL
is down big, the NBA is down even bigger. And
I believe that reason is because most people look to
sports to have an escape. And so all these people
calling in right now eight seven, seven, three six nine
(44:53):
are directly telling you that they're not watching. The media
will tell you, mainstream media that these people don't exist.
Who's up next? Up? We got Mike in South Carolina. Mike,
what's what are you watching? If not, what are you
doing instead? What's going What's going on? Clay? How are
you man appreciate that? I mean, here's here's the deal, man.
(45:14):
You know, I've never stopped watching the NFL, you know.
I mean there's a lot of politics and all this.
You know, people you know saying, you know, teams are saying, well,
we're we're gonna kneel. We're not gonna kneel. We're we're
gonna stand. We're not gonna stand. I mean, you know,
the deal is. I mean, I don't feel like politics
should be in sports at all, you know. So I
mean I'm a I'm a sports guy, so I'm gonna
(45:37):
watch it, you know. I mean, you know, I served
in the Marine Corps and you know, I don't really
get into the whole you know, you know that they're
standing not standing thing. I mean, everybody has their opinion
and it is what it is. I mean, you know,
I'm not gonna stop my life and what i want
to do because somebody has an opinion. I mean, everybody's
entitled to their own opinion, and some people don't like it,
(45:58):
and it's what it is. But at the end of
the day, you know, I mean, you know, I mean,
I I enjoy watching football, you know. I mean, I'm
a you know, NBA, I'm I'm a Celtics fan. So
when you know, when they're in, you know, I'll watch it.
When they're not, I'm not gonna watch it, you know.
But I mean baseball has kind of turned me off
just because it's it's become in a stagnant morning. But
(46:19):
at the end of the day, I've I've watched the
p g A get Major League Baseball football, you know
at all. So I mean, everybody's entitled to their opinion.
But you know, like I said, I just think, you know,
don't think you should stop doing what you want to do,
you know, because of everybody's opinion. Thanks for the call
thanks for the service. I do think it's an interesting
question because many people feel powerless when they feel like
(46:44):
they're being lectured to about politics, and so if everybody's
entitled to their opinion, I understand the response of, Hey,
if you're gonna slap me in the face, eventually I'm
gonna slap you back in the face. And that is
I think why many fans are not watching. They feel
like they're getting slapped in the face. And yeah, you
(47:06):
could be like, well, I still like what happens after
I get slapped in the face, so I'm still gonna watch.
I think other people are like, screw you, you're gonna
slap me in the face. I'm gonna slap you in
the face. Boom, I'm turning the television off. And everybody
has a different response. Some people are gonna turn on
the game ten minutes after it starts because they're like,
I'll just pretend that there wasn't all that going on.
And by the way, I think that's what NBCCBS, Fox
(47:28):
and ESPN are gonna do. They saw these numbers. They're panicking.
They're gonna be like, we're not covering any more protests.
The audience is making it pretty clear they don't want it.
I think when you watch Week two, there ain't gonna
be a lot of social justice talk. They are a business,
and a business is about making as much money as possible.
They make money putting on the NFL games based on
(47:50):
advertisers of less people watch. They make way less money.
They lost hundreds of millions of dollars during the Colin
Kaepernick protests because people turned it off. Who's up next? Up?
We've got James and Cincinnati. James, what you got for me? All?
Let me get speaker here. Yeah, I own a little
aged white guy in Cincinnati and Judy go brill. It's great. Yeah,
(48:11):
he did pretty great, by the way, not a good
pass interference call. I didn't think. Yeah, you never right
on the head. People are sick all the politics. They
don't want to deal with it. They don't only want
to see it. They're throwing all the political commercials out
here now that are just off the freaking charts. Man,
do they really believe they're gonna deepend the police? And
what the cities are all gonna burn is Joe Biden
(48:32):
gets elected? I mean, come on, man, everybody, are you
gonna watch on Thursday. You got the Battle of Ohio
going on between the Bengals and the Browns. Are watching
to miss it, but I'll probably put it on right
as you're kicking off. I mean, hey, I'm off of
uh social justice and what happens to you know, some
of these these folks is terrible. It's terrible. It shouldn't
(48:52):
be happening in today's society at all. And I'm and
I'm a veteran, and I believe that if you want
to deal for the national anthem, that you all right,
that's the right I fight for because you defend the
Constitution in the United States, not the song or the
president of the political party. People need to realize that
it's just a song. It's what it represents. And I
(49:18):
want to tell you at one more thing before I go, um,
does the NFL realize how stupid they look? Because wait
a minute, you blackball called Kirkpatrick for kneeling, which I
was all four, I was about to nail at the
game just to show support for him. But then you
turn around on that track and go, oh wait, we
(49:38):
were wrong, we were wrong, and now they're just overblowing it,
so they look like idiots. Thank you. For the call.
Colin Kirkpatrick. I mean, that is a guy that deserves
a chance in this league. I know he meant Kaepernick,
but Dolphins. Right. Yeah, Um, it is true though. There
is an element of what the NFL is doing now
that is like Drew Brees, right, RW Brees said he
(50:01):
thought it was disrespectful to kneel for the anthem. That's
what he believes, and then people were mad about what
he believed, and so he changed his opinion, and then
the people who agreed with him were angry at him
for changing his opinion, and the people who he changed
his opinion for are like, yeah, he doesn't really believe that.
He's just saying that because he got criticized. That's kind
(50:22):
of where the NFL is now. Look, if you stand
for nothing, then you will fall for everything. And it
seems to me that there are a lot of corporations
out there in the world of sports that are standing
for nothing and falling for everything. And I think people
can see through the hypocrisy, and I think that's why
they're turning it off when we come back. Major League
Baseball has been rolling through the season. Believe it or not,
(50:45):
They've actually been able to Corona brows are upset. They've
had hardly any positive tests recently. They now are getting
close to the postseason. What is the postseason gonna look
like in Major League Baseball? Who's gonna be there? We're
gonna talk about it with John Morosey next. Fox Sports
Radio has the best spot stalk lineup in the nation.

(51:07):
s R to listen live. Welcome back and joined now
by John Morosy. You can find him on Twitter at
John Morosy j O N M O R O S. I.
All right, I think I got that right, John, thanks
for getting up early with us. Uh. You may actually
end up with Big ten football in the story that
never ends. Maybe I'll ask you that at the end.
But UH, for major League baseball fans, what was significant
(51:31):
about the announcement for what the postseason will look like?
And for a lot of people who haven't even heard,
what will it look like? And uh? Is it good
for baseball? Clay? I do think it's good for baseball.
And here are the details. Will begin with a best
of three series. You've got eight teams in each league
making the playoffs, the largest playoff field in the history
(51:53):
of Major League Baseball, and those first round series, they'll
be eight of them, of course, Uh, they'll be played
at the home sites, so you'll have your own ballpark
for the top four seeds will be hosting those best
of three series. And that's the best. Sorry to cut
you off, but that's the best of three, which is
a super fast series that I don't know a lot
of people have recognized yet exactly so, so best of
(52:14):
three all at one site, and then Clay, they're gonna
take a little longer break than usual, several days off
in between the that best of three series and the
usual best of five division series, because that will be
played in the bubble. There'll be two bubbles, uh, the
n L based between Arlington, Texas and Houston, and then
(52:35):
the American League in between San Diego and Dodger Stadium
in Los Angeles. And and so those those bubbles will
be active beginning with the division series that they want
to allocate several days to make sure that people can
travel there, be tested and ensure that there's good health there,
of course, and in fact, even the last rounders, the
last week or so of the regular season, UH teams
(52:57):
are encouraged to be in a modified bubble. Basically, even
the teams that our home are staying at a hotel,
separating from family and making sure that everybody arrives at
the postseason and as good to help as possible, and
then of course that you'll play those UH. Those bubbles
will be active for the balance of the postseason, including
the World Series happening in Arlington. So the end of
the a L champion will fly from California to meet
(53:20):
the n L champion at the conclusion of the ALCS
in San Diego. Will there be fans present for any
of these games? So great question, Clay. This is what
the commissioner, Rob Manford said recently at an online event
at Hofstra. He said that he is hopeful and quoting
here from an Evandralic story at the Athletic quote, I'm
hopeful that the World Series and the LCS we will
have limited fan capacity. I think it's important for us
(53:43):
to start back down that road. UH continues to say,
we'll probably use that theory similar to the NFL games,
But I do think it's important as we look forward
to one to get back to the idea that live sports.
They are generally outdoors at least our games, and it's
something that we can get back to doing. So he's
referring to largely now. Interestingly, the Uh, the the stadium
(54:04):
in Arlington has has a roof, so that's that's unique.
But UH, from that standpoint, Clay the commissioner talking about overall,
from a business standpoint, Baseball looks at one as being
optimistic to fans in the stands next season, and that
doing so in the LCS in the World Series this
year with a lot of different modeling and social distancing
as we saw for example of Notre Dame last weekend,
(54:25):
where there was a lot of thought put into the
seating charts and and where people could sit. That if
Baseball does that, that perhaps that we could see fans
of the LCS in the World Series. All right, let's
go into the actual playoff races themselves. What do you
think is the most intriguing as we come down with
about ten games to play, Uh, there seems to be
a lot of teams that we know, right, I mean,
(54:47):
and and the reason why I'm running through Uh, it
feels like Tampa Bay, the the Yankees, the the the
Blue Jays, they're all in the White Sox, and the
Twins seem like they're all in the Cleveland Indians as well,
and then Oakland and Houston seem like they're all in.
Like there's not a lot of suspense in the American
League at all. Right, the way I just ran through it,
(55:08):
we basically have a pretty good sense what the eight
teams are going to be in the a L. Right
unless unless the Mariners make a push against the Astros.
I think you're right that, and that would be for
the second seed of the a L West. I agree
that there are going to be three teams coming out
of the a L East, three teams coming out of
the Central. But that second spot in every division, even
(55:29):
if you're below five hundred, is a guaranteed spot. And
so the Houston Astros even have a two game lead
on the Mariners for that second and final likely wild
card spot or or or playoff spot in the American
League West. So the Marriage, of course their game was
canceled or postponed yesterday, do the air quality in Seattle,
so they have to start making up some games there.
(55:50):
But in general, as long as the Mariners do not
mount a a stirring comeback against the Astros. The eight
teams that you mentioned, Clay, will be the playoff field
in the American League, right, and then the NL got
about seven teams that you feel pretty good about. I mean,
obviously there's still a lot that can happen, but there
seems like there's gonna be a battle for that eighth
spot between if I've got this correct, the Reds, the Brewers,
(56:13):
and the San Francisco Giants. Who do you think Do
you agree with me in general that it seems like
we're in pretty good shape to have seven teams make it,
and then that eighth battle in the n L could
get pretty interesting over the next ten days or so,
I agree, And really, in fact, Clay, you could say
that that the six teams are pretty well said, or
at least you have a decent idea as to where
(56:33):
where that's going to be. But then there's a lot
more competition even for the last two spots, I would say.
And one storyline that I think is really emerging in
recent days has been the resurgence of the Cincinnati Reds.
The Reds right now of one four and a row,
they are a half game back of the Cardinals for
second in the National League Central. I think for me,
right now, it's a very crowded picture in the NL
(56:55):
Central with the Cardinals below five in second place right now,
the Reds is a half game behind them, and the
Brewers is a half game behind the Reds. That is
a really competitive race. I don't think that we'll see
all three of those teams make it. I do think
we'll see two of those three teams make it, and
then out West, the Giants seven pretty good chance to
(57:16):
make it, even though they're below five hundred right now.
That to me is is what I see as being
a real likely situation. I think we'll see both the
Phillies and the Marlins make it. The Marlins, what a story.
They have become Clay of course early on in the season,
nearly when you think about what happened with them in
their situation with COVID in the first four days of
the year, um, just a disastrous start of the season.
(57:37):
But they have bounced back a young team, they're above
five hundred right now, they're in second place, and they're
on their way to making the playoffs for the first
time since winning the World Series in two thousand three.
So the Marlins a great story. I expect the Phillies
to make it as well. And your son's favorite team,
the Braves, right now looks like they're are gonna be
on their way to win the National League East. Yeah,
no doubt at all. Uh. Last question for you, a
(57:57):
lot of questions about the Cardinals and how many games
they're going to get in. What are you hearing they're
sitting at forty three complete other teams forty nine in
the n L. How many of the Cardinals gonna end
up with Well, that's a great point, Clay, and they
will probably schedule to get into forty or fifty eight
games rather so they'll be too shy when the season
is over. Right now, they're in a stretch of playing
(58:19):
eighteen games in fourteen days. Eighteen games in fourteen days,
that's an incredible stretch. I'm not sure if we've ever
seen any team play that many double headers in that
narrow of a time span. And so what's gonna happen
is Clay, from my understanding, if they get to the
end of the season and they have fifty eight games
played in those last two games would matter from the
standpoint of who makes the playoffs. MLB is going to
(58:41):
try to make those two games up in St. Louis,
likely against the Tigers on that last Monday the season.
Because remember this is an important point, there are no
the usual tiebreaker games that you would see the game
one sixty three's. We don't have those this year because
everything else has done mathematically for tiebreakers. So that's the
only scenario in which we would have baseball on that
Monday after the season is over, would be if those
(59:03):
two games are required to decide who's in the playoffs.
Can't wait to watch it. Appreciate you by the way
you optimistic about the Wolverines playing quickly as we go out.
I am. It sure sounds like a momentum building and
it would be a welcome sight indeed to see football back,
no doubt. Be sure to catch live editions of Outkicked
the coverage with Clay Travis weekdays at six am Eastern
(59:24):
three am Pacific. Chris mannos, we may have to talk
to tomorrow. One of the things you learn about morning
radio is lots of people sleep through morning radio interviews.
But a couple of things that I wanted to hit here,
uh and uh and I think this is interesting. The
the sort of idea in general of herd immunity has
been continued to give more and more credence in the
(59:46):
world of athletics. Do you say, guys, See, Cocho came
out and said he thinks basically his entire team, most
of the team I think, he said, has already had
the coronavirus. Well, the Corona Bros And sports media have been,
you know, just in an uproar ever since the Big
tend basically decided to come back. Now the Pact twelve
wants to come back, and they're realizing that sports can
be played safely because Major League Baseball has been going
(01:00:08):
a long time now without any severe issues. In the NFL,
there's almost no positive tests at all. Uh. The SEC
comes back next week, the tennis is going on. The
US Open golf tournament starts this weekend. Like, whatever your
perspectives are, we've had a lot of people out there
that have been able to come back and play well.
An Alabama student has been Uh. He said. He decided
(01:00:31):
to prank all of the Corona Bros In sports media,
and so he sent an email big story tip to
Dan Woken at USA Today, who is one of the
king Corona Rose and he said, here I'm reading his email.
I just tweeted this out, Dan, student at Alabama here
after reading your article about her immunity. I have something
you might want to look into. I have a friend
(01:00:53):
on the football team who told me that a bunch
of Alabama players had a COVID house party so they
could get the IRIS and develop her immunity earlier in
the summer. You are welcome. A few minutes later, Dan
Wilkin writes back high, I wouldn't be surprised if that
were true. Any details you know about that that I
could try to track down. Uh? So there you go.
(01:01:17):
Uh players are actually uh now pranking everybody out there.
Uh in the world of not sorry, students are pranking
Corona bros. Out there. That's pretty entertaining. What do you
think do you think? Now here's the question, So that's
entertaining in and of itself. As we go and get
ready for the final segment, how many Asian people do
(01:01:38):
you think we'll call in to draft the Asian national anthem?
We've never asked for Asian only callers. Do you think
we are popular in the Asian community? Danny g oh, Yeah?
Do you think we have a lot of Asian listeners
that are gonna load up the phone lines for w
answer phones all day. What do you think do you
think we'll have loaded lines from the Asian community to
(01:01:59):
draft the Asian national Anthem? I mean, I'm expecting at
least a half dozen calls here coming up during this
commercial break. All right, Uh, what would you say, as
a white man dub about my drafting of Sweet Caroline
on on behalf of White America as the white national anthem?
I think that would be a popular selection selection. Would
you suggest otherwise? I think maybe for the younger millennial generation,
(01:02:22):
I think something by Blink one eighty two would be
more sufficient. Maybe I miss you by Blink Wannity two
because whenever that song comes on in the bars, let
me tell you what, all the white kids are belting
it out. As a year old you're telling me blink,
do we have that song? Danny g on the on
the playlist there, We'll look for it right now. And
by the one, by the way, tweeted in and said, Clay,
(01:02:43):
the white national anthem is Cowboy from kid Rock. Yeah.
You know we did this a while back where we
were like, um, we took calls on is this the
blink win. This is this is we turn it up.
Every white person starting to sway. All of white America
right now is just like turning up their radios. You're
(01:03:06):
telling me, dub this is you're telling me this is
given Sweet Carolina run. Just give it a few seconds
here now, Hello, the long intro. This is a long intro.
I think, by the way ratings through the roof right now.
Oh oh, it got me right in the heart time.
I gotta be honest with you, though I did, I
(01:03:26):
do have children. I gotta tell you this is a
great song. It's kind of sad though, Like right, Sweet
Caroline is like an uplifting ballad. This is, like you know,
like this is not a very positive song. Right did
you agree for for the white national anthem? I feel
like it needs to be uplifting. Well it's about to
get uplifted, all right, here we go. This is this
(01:03:47):
is where the white this is where people get their wings.
Let's bring it home. This is not the white national anthem.
I'm sorry that I have dubbed you on behalf of
all your millennial loser friends need to apologize for trying
to make this. This is a good song. This is
not the white National anthem. It is Sweet Caroline hammered?
Are you at the bar when the song comes out?
(01:04:08):
Super hammered? All right? Can we play the Hispanic national
anthem for people who are just waking? Roberto has drafted
the Hispanic national anthem. By the way, Eddie, do you
agree with roberto selection here or would you prefer a
different Hispanic national anthem? I'm actually in complete agreement with
Roberto on this one. Yeah, this is this is part
of my segment on this up. This is a positive
(01:04:30):
but crank this up. This is a positive song like
this is. I can see this being connected to Sweet Caroline,
and I don't know how this doesn't make you smile.
I mean, like, this is the this is the I
love this selection as a Hispanic national anthem. Now I
will say this, let every voice and sing. I think
black people would prefer apple bottom jeans. I'm just gonna
(01:04:53):
say the flow ride a song? What is that song called?
I'm just saying, like, do we have do we have
the apple bottom geene song? I'm just saying if I had, Like,
if you're thinking uplifting songs that everybody loves, what's the
what's the name of that flow? Right? Of Apple Bottom
Gene song. There's not a single person on the planet
that if this, do we do we have that? If
(01:05:14):
we're trying to unite all of the races, all right,
I really feel like Sweet Caroline. White people love to
do like the dunt dunt uh, like you know, like
using their hands like they're playing the drums or the
symbols or whatever the heck it is. And then that
Hispanic national anthem. Everybody likes to dance to that. I'm
really telling you. Instead of lift every voice and sing,
(01:05:34):
if they played Apple Bottom Jeans the flow right a song,
I think it would unite America more. I'm just saying,
if we have to play a bunch of different songs
before the national anthem on behalf of all the different races,
do we have it? Do we not have it in
the system? This is a sign of white supremacy. If
we don't have the apple bottom jeans and the and
(01:05:55):
the song, do we have it? Here? We go about
to us got a couple of coronas in this system
right now. I'm telling you, if they played this before
the game and everybody just lined up on the field,
I'm telling you, if they started with Sweet Caroline. Like,
if we had you DJ Danny g as a mixtape
(01:06:17):
master here and we were like to unite America the
white national and we need to put a mix together
the white national anthem, Sweet Caroline comes on. No, this
one right here could actually be the white national anthem. No,
I'm telling you right now, if they played this, nobody
would kneel the everybody and nobody would ever kneel for
apple bottom jeans. Would be kind of hard to standard
(01:06:39):
attention though, to be kind of bopping around a little bit. Yeah,
I mean you gotta have a little bit of sway.
That's okay, That unites some, that unites the whole stadium. Alright,
So what is the Asian national anthem? I don't know.
Only Asian callers get to pick their national anthem right
now eight seven seven nine six three six nine. First
(01:07:00):
ever Asian only request, and I have no idea. Dubbed
the phones better start ringing. Asian people get to pick
their national anthem to play before the start of NFL games.
What will it be? I'm intrigued, you're intrigued. This is
OutKick on Fox Sports Radio. And before we find out
what that anthem is going to be, Farmers has a
(01:07:20):
word for us. You get a whole lot of something
with Farmers Policy perks so much I'm gonna have to
speed things up. You can get new car replacements, so
if your car is totally Farmers will pay to replacement
