Speaker 2 (00:24):
This is the best of the Ben Maler Show on
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (00:32):
Oh what's going on? Everybody?

Speaker 4 (00:33):
Welcome in here as we are your unofficial Chargers postgame
wrap up show. If you unofficial unofficial and I have
many thoughts on the Thursday night game and including one
of the unfortunate outcomes of the Broncos getting kicked in

(00:56):
the teeth this evening.

Speaker 3 (00:58):
I'll get to that momentarily.

Speaker 4 (00:59):
We're broadcasting live from the tirec dot com studios. Tirerack
dot com will help get you there and unmatched selection,
fast free shipping, free road hazard protection and over ten
thousand recommended installers. Tirerac dot com. The way tire buying
should be man. First things first, one of the absolute
joys of filling in for Big Ben Mahler, it's getting

(01:21):
to you know, bump shoulders with the Mallard Militias fantastic.

Speaker 3 (01:26):
It's the overnight hours.

Speaker 4 (01:28):
So that that's what I started off doing at Fox
Sports Radio. I would do weekend overnights just like Ben
did way back when Ben did it way before me.

Speaker 3 (01:36):
But that's what I started doing.

Speaker 4 (01:38):
I started doing weekend overnights with Justin Cooper. And that's
another one of the joys of filling in for Big Ben.
I get to hang out with my guy Coop. Now
you guys don't know this, I'm gonna tell you something
about Justin Cooper. You don't know the way he greets me.
Every single time when I'm filling in and we're doing

(01:58):
a show together, he gives me. I don't know if
you guys are big Lamb of God heavy metal fans,
you know, but they have a singer named Randy Bligh
and he sings from the throat, and that's what Coop
does from the throat. And I can't do nearly as
good of a job as Coop does. He'll give me
a what up.

Speaker 3 (02:18):
That's how he greets.

Speaker 4 (02:19):
Me tradition, and after his broncos lost and pathetic second
half fashion, that's it greets me what up.

Speaker 3 (02:29):
That's what he had for me. That's what he had.

Speaker 4 (02:31):
So one of the absolute joys of filling in for
Big Ben. It's no longer in play because Coop's Broncos lost.
It's a big game on Thursday night, as they had
a nice halftime lead and then the fourth quarter came
around and the Broncos had no mojo. Now, one of
the big storylines of this game is that there was

(02:55):
a free kick that was made for the first time.
It's nineteen seventy six, and so I thought of and I'll.

Speaker 3 (03:05):
Get to the play and what led up to it
and all that good stuff, But.

Speaker 4 (03:08):
I thought of the late great John Madden, because if
you're an old school football fan, I'm forty seven years old.
Now I can't believe I'm I'm almost ancient by this,
But when I'm growing up, I can't tell you how
many times the late great John Madden would talk about

(03:31):
this rule. It might be before halftime, but you know
there's a rule. There's a free kick. If you call
for a fair catch, you get an untimed down, you
can attempt a free kick where there's no rush. I
can't tell you how many times he said that and
This was the first made free kick since nineteen seventy six.

(03:52):
I just love that it took that long for us
to see another made free kick. But the way it
worked out was just clock management by Denver.

Speaker 3 (04:02):
That's what led to this.

Speaker 4 (04:04):
So right before halftime, Denver had a twenty one to
ten lead. Okay, Denver's up by eleven points. They're at
their own eighteen yard line with forty one seconds to now.
I believe they had two timeouts. Don't quote me on that,
but I believe they had two timeouts. So if you're
backed up to your own eighteen, you've got a rookie quarterback,

(04:27):
you only have forty one seconds to play with, You've
got an eleven point lead.

Speaker 3 (04:31):
This is one of these, maybe.

Speaker 4 (04:33):
A call, a conservative play, a conservative pass, maybe a
draw and if you if you have a big gain,
then okay, now you get aggressive and you try to
get into field goal range. So what does Denver do. Well,
they tried a short pass. They lost three yards. Okay,
so you're backed up to your own fifteen. There are

(04:55):
under thirty seconds left. Just go to halftime, right, Nope,
John Payton's like, let's throw another pass. So it's incomplete
seventeen seconds left, so Denver just runs the ball. Let's
get to the half. Oh, Jim Harbaugh calls time out.
Eight seconds left, so Denver has to punt it. The

(05:16):
Chargers call for a fair catch. Uh oh, fair catch interference, yes, Denver.
They compound the problem by committing a penalty. And so
this is where the rule that John Medden recited over
and over and over again finally came into play. Where
you have an untimed down, you have a free kick opportunity.

(05:39):
So dick Er, the kicker, Cameron Dicker, he trots onto
the field and you're basically in a kickoff formation. There's
no rush. There's no rush. That's why it's a free kick.
It'd be kind of like, I don't know, kind of
like a technical foul in basketball where the one shoots it.

Speaker 3 (06:01):
Right, It's a little bit like that.

Speaker 4 (06:03):
It's kind of like football's version of a free throw,
if you will. And so Dicker lines up, he kicks
it at the line of scrimmage. That's the trick, right,
there's no rush, so you don't have to set up
eight yards you know, in back of the line of scrimmage.

Speaker 3 (06:19):
You're just right up on it. So it's a fifty
seven yard field goal.

Speaker 4 (06:24):
Dicker makes it three points, so instead of Denver leading
twenty one to ten, they're only leading twenty one to thirteen,
and those are three valuable points as the game goes along.
Fast forward to the end of the game. My goodness,
I didn't even think about this until now. So Denver
is down by ten points at the end as opposed

(06:47):
to seven. Now, to be fair, we don't know how
every single scenario plays out from that point on, right,
If there's no free kick, if Sean Payton doesn't completely.

Speaker 3 (06:59):
Botch the clock at the end of the half and.

Speaker 4 (07:02):
There is no free kick, who knows if it's the
exact same point differential at the end of the game, right,
We don't know.

Speaker 3 (07:09):
That, but it's at least possible that Denver.

Speaker 4 (07:13):
Toward the end of the game they're only trailing by
seven points as opposed to trailing by ten points, and
so they get beyond midfield a little bit and Denver
lines up for a long field goal that they made,
which was interesting strategy because you have to score twice.
So Sean Payton opted for it was like a fifty

(07:34):
five yard field goal, and Lutz made it and they
cut the deficit to seven. They didn't get the on
side kick. That was basically the end of the game.
But it just dawned on me that that free kick
kind of screwed up an in game bet of yours.

Speaker 3 (07:50):
Truly. Here, I was on bow Knicks.

Speaker 4 (07:53):
I went with bow Knicks in game passing yardage and
I needed three more passing yards from bow and instead
Sean Payton's like, eh, let's just kick the field goal.
We need to score twice anyway, And I'm like, no, Sean,
I need three more passing yards.

Speaker 3 (08:09):
What are you doing?

Speaker 4 (08:10):
So it's crazy how that came into play. A random
free kick at the end of the half could have
absolutely impacted the scenario at the end of the game.
And as far as the betting public is concerned, oh
my gosh, it's crazy how one thing leads to another

(08:30):
leads to another.

Speaker 3 (08:32):
It's insane.

Speaker 4 (08:33):
But long story short, what I'm telling you is the
free kick at the end of the half that could
have impacted a random bow Nick's passing yardage bet.

Speaker 3 (08:44):
That's crazy how football works.

Speaker 5 (08:46):
Now.

Speaker 4 (08:46):
Jim Harbaugh chimed in, and in true Jim Harbough fashion,
he talked about the free kick and said it's my
favorite rule in football.

Speaker 3 (08:55):
And I can totally believe that.

Speaker 4 (08:57):
Jim Harbough as we know, quite quick and I could
absolutely see him be like, oh, I love the free.

Speaker 3 (09:04):
Kick if we could just execute the freak kick.

Speaker 4 (09:08):
Remember Belichick years ago had Doug Flutie do the dropkick
extra point. It's some of those cool yet nerdy football
things that just the die hards, like the football chunkies,
love that kind of stuff. And so I can absolutely
believe Jim Harbaugh. Oh my gosh, he probably you know,

(09:30):
that's like I don't want to get too graphic over here,
but you know he had to, you know, shield himself
from having an orgasm on the sideline when they made
the free kick at the end of the ave.

Speaker 3 (09:40):
You're kidding me.

Speaker 4 (09:41):
He loves that type of stuff. Now here's something else
to keep in mind. And I'll expand on this as
we go on through the night.

Speaker 3 (09:50):
Bon Nicks. Let me hit on bon Nicks.

Speaker 4 (09:52):
Here, and at the risk of completely alienating Justin Cooper
from the rest of the show, I gotta say something
that's true. I have to say something that is absolutely
true here. So bow Nicks, if you look at the
box score, you'd probably say.

Speaker 3 (10:09):
Man, he played pretty well. Look at his numbers.

Speaker 4 (10:12):
Twenty nine for forty through for two hundred and sixty
three yards, two touchdowns, no interceptions. Also ran the ball
three times for twenty five yards.

Speaker 5 (10:22):
That's good.

Speaker 3 (10:23):
Those are all good numbers.

Speaker 4 (10:25):
Here's the thing, it's what doesn't show up in the
box score that sometimes makes a huge difference in football games.
And that was the case on Thursday night. Now, let
me be clear, I'm not putting the lost squarely on
bow Knicks's shoulders. I'm putting it on the Denver Suckey
defense that finally woke up and said, why are we

(10:46):
good anyway? If we got one premier player in Patrick
Certan and a bunch of just random dudes. It's the
no name defense, Like how are we tied for number
one in scoring defense this year? And they woke up
on Thursday like, oh yeah, we shouldn't be that good.
Let's let's get diced up by a guy on a
Gibbi ankle.

Speaker 1 (11:06):
You know.

Speaker 4 (11:07):
But I'm not putting it squarely on bow Knicks. But
there was a play to be made, and bow Knicks
didn't make it. He had Marvin Mimm's wide open along
the sideline wide open by a good five yards and
he underthrew him, pass was broken up and they didn't
score any points. That's the thing, man, This is the

(11:29):
way it works in the NFL. You can learn a
lot of things and you can grabble you can form
opinions on box scores. I'm not saying you can't, but
there are a lot of things that don't show up
there that absolutely impact wins and losses. And again, let
me be clear, I'm not putting this solely on bow knicks,

(11:51):
but that's a play that has to be made. If
you've got a guy streaking along the sideline wide open, you.

Speaker 3 (11:58):
Can't be late.

Speaker 4 (11:59):
You can't significantly underthrow that guy and leave points on
the field. Like that's why these got Lamar Jackson has
been sensational this season, as he has numerous regular seasons.

Speaker 3 (12:12):
He's a two time MVP.

Speaker 4 (12:14):
The problem with Lamar is when we get to the
playoffs and there are some plays to be made, there
are throws to be made. It might only be one
in a particular game and he won't make it. He
will not make that play and a lot of times
that's the difference between points and no points.

Speaker 3 (12:34):
Winning and losing.

Speaker 4 (12:37):
And I'm telling you, if bow Knicks makes that throw
and it was an easy throw, that's a layup throw,
Denver might have won that game. And that's why I
just cautioned anybody to just look at the box score
and say, what is this?

Speaker 3 (12:50):
No guy talk? When's Big Ben back? What is he
talking to?

Speaker 4 (12:53):
Look at this guy? Two hundred and sixty three yards,
great completion rate, touchdown, two touchdowns, no picks, he's a rookie.
It's like, I don't care if he's a rookie or
a fifteen year vet. You can't miss a guy who's
opened by five yards in the end zone, like heading
into the end zone. You can't miss a guy that
wide open. In the NFL can't do it, as Mike

(13:17):
Singletary once said, And that was a play that should
have been made that wasn't made. I'm telling you keep
your eye on that come playoff time, because I guarantee
there will be a game, there might be multiple games,
and you can look at the guy's box score and say, hey,
Lamari played pretty well.

Speaker 3 (13:35):
Why is anyone saying anything negative.

Speaker 4 (13:37):
It's like, well, there was that one play in the
third quarter against the Chiefs when he had a wide
open receiver and threw it into the fifth row. And
that's the difference between wins and losses. This happened all
the time with remember Zach Wilson with the Jets that
there were times, believe it or not, that Zach Wilson

(13:59):
he would make some great throws, he would make some
great plays.

Speaker 3 (14:03):
He'd be like, wow, man, what why does this guy suck?

Speaker 4 (14:06):
And then the next play it'd be a wide open
guy and he would airmail it and you're like, oh, yeah,
that's why it's You might not be terrible the whole game,
but if there are some plays to be made and
you just don't make him in those critical moments, it
comes back to bite you. It absolutely does. Income playoff time,
it's magnified even more.

Speaker 2 (14:28):
Well.

Speaker 4 (14:28):
The Broncos good news, they're still in the playoffs as
we speak right now. Chargers leap frogdam Chargers are a
sixth seed. Right now, Denver is clinging to the seventh seed,
but they would have to lose out and all these
six and eight teams they'd have to win out. I
think Denver probably still makes it, but that was a
missed opportunity for Denver tonight.

football playoff for the next two hours.

Speaker 3 (15:08):
I'm just kidding. That would be Coop's nightmare.

Speaker 4 (15:12):
Maybe saying the past interference non call that was justified.
Maybe that's his nightmare. We just do that for the
next two hours. No, we're not going to make dreams
come true in these final two hours here. Okay, we

Speaker 3 (15:47):
Always welcome here.

Speaker 4 (15:48):
Maland Militia eight seven to seven ninety nine on Fox
I want to dive right into this. So Josh Allen,
Bill's quarterback. He he's in the news. He's had an
MVP caliber season. And the first part of this is
that he has he has an idea as to why

(16:11):
that's the case.

Speaker 3 (16:13):
And so his reasoning is he's looking at his fiance.

Speaker 1 (16:18):
You know.

Speaker 4 (16:19):
What, it's the saying behind any great man, there's a
great woman, something like that. And Josh Allen says about
his fiance, she's an Academy Award nominated nominated actress. She's
also a singer, Hayley Steinfeld. Josh Allen says, she's been
a huge part the morale, the support when I get home.

(16:42):
She's my biggest fan, my biggest supporter. She's been the best.
And could this have something to do with his play? Maybe, Hey,
it's possible. I guess right. He's an MVP caliber player.
He's been playing great foot. That was the big question
heading into this season. No Stefan Diggs, what his numbers

(17:05):
gonna look like.

Speaker 3 (17:06):
I doesn't have his main target over here.

Speaker 4 (17:08):
It's well, it's been pretty good, pretty pretty good. I
think he's gonna be the MVP when it's all said
and done. He's had more MVP moments. Listen, Lamar Jackson
has put up fantastic numbers. Have you seen Lamar's stats
this season? They're pretty crazy. But the problem is Lamar's

(17:31):
team isn't as good as Josh Allen's team, right, Lamar
and the Ravens have lost more games, and that's a
big part of this. Do you think Joe Burrow's gonna
win MVP?

Speaker 2 (17:42):
No?

Speaker 5 (17:43):
Why?

Speaker 3 (17:43):
Well, their team has lost too many games.

Speaker 4 (17:46):
And so if Josh Allen is leading a team that
has a better record and his numbers are comparable to
Lamar Jackson, well guess who's gonna get the MVP nod.
It's gonna be Josh Allen in his eleven to three
team on top of the AFC East compared to Lamar
Jackson's nine to five Raven squad, who right now is
in second place and is a wildcard team.

Speaker 3 (18:09):
Whether you like it or not, that's the way it's
gonna go.

Speaker 4 (18:13):
And I mean, listen, I think there at times there
can be an argument to be made that the player
on the lesser team has a better argument to be MVP.
I think there are times that's legit. But in this instance,
while Lamar has won two MVPs and Josh Allen hasn't

(18:36):
won any. I'm not saying this is right, but this
is often the way it goes.

Speaker 3 (18:41):
There is a.

Speaker 4 (18:42):
Spread the wealth factor here, and also there is a
what have you done for us lately factor here, where
it's like you just sort of shrug your shoulders. I
hate this, but you do. You get desensitized. That's what happens.
You've seen this in many other sports. It's happened in
the NFL as well as it's happened in the NBA.

(19:05):
NBA is a great example of this, where look at
Jokic with the Denver Nuggets. It's gonna be harder for
him to win another MVP because he's a multi time winner.
It was harder for Lebron to win another MVP because
he had won four.

Speaker 3 (19:21):
It was harder for Michael Jordan back.

Speaker 4 (19:23):
In his day when he was clearly the MVP in
some of those years. But that's the way it goes.
Russell Westbrook another good example. He averaged a triple double
for the first time since Oscar Robertson and we're like,
this is amazing. We never thought it'd be done again.
He did it again the next year and we're like, eh.

Speaker 3 (19:44):
Been, They're done that. I think he did it. For
the next two seasons.

Speaker 4 (19:48):
We're like, eh, hit some threes. We're just not as
into it anymore. And so while I hate that that's
part of this, it does where Lamar has won two
MVPs and Josh Allen hasn't won any. But I would
say the biggest factor is that Josh Allen is leading
a team that has a better record. And you hear

(20:09):
this with the Heisman Trophy, the Heisman moments, what stands
out the most. It's Josh Allen going freaking crazy the
last two weeks. He went ballistic against the Lions last
week and the week before that he had three passing
touchdowns and three rushing touchdowns against the Rams. Now the

(20:32):
Lamar camp might point out, well, yeah, Brian, you're talking
about winning being so important.

Speaker 3 (20:37):
He lost that game. It's like, yeah, that's.

Speaker 4 (20:40):
True, but that's one of his three losses this entire year.

Speaker 3 (20:45):
So we could go back and forth.

Speaker 4 (20:47):
But Josh Allen is gonna be named MVP, and the
story about him crediting his fiance, that's fine.

Speaker 3 (20:54):
I think this is the real story, though.

Speaker 4 (20:58):
I think if there's any truth to this that Lamar
needs to get engaged immediately.

Speaker 3 (21:03):
I think that's the thing.

Speaker 4 (21:05):
Because if regular season numbers don't need any help. Again,
if you look at Lamar, just cliffs notes version what
Lamar has done in this regular season. How about thirty
four touchdown passes, three interceptions. That sound good, that's pretty good.
Number one in passer rating. His passer rating is one
twenty point seven. He's put up ridiculous numbers.

Speaker 3 (21:29):
Okay, no doubt about that. But I think Lamar needs
to get engaged.

Speaker 4 (21:33):
If this is true, that Josh Allen being engaged, it's
had a very positive effect on his play I think
Lamar might want to walk down that road because his
playoff numbers need a lot of help. Lamar in the
regular season, hey, he's put up some sensational numbers.

Speaker 3 (21:52):
He's won a lot of games.

Speaker 4 (21:56):
But there's a reason they call it the post seas, right,
it's not the regular season, it's the post season, and
things change they have for Lamar once he's got to
the playoffs. Like for anybody who's arguing that Lamar is
a better quarterback than Josh Allen, you're not looking at

(22:16):
what matters most, and what matters most are the playoffs.
You hear this is a common expression in golf. You
drive for show and put for doe. You've heard that, right,
You've heard it plenty of times. Well, if you apply
that to the NFL, driving for show is the regular season,

(22:41):
putting for doe, that's the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (22:45):
That's the postseason. That's what matters the most.

Speaker 4 (22:47):
And just like golf, if you hit this t shot
and it's just like, wow, did that go three hundred
and fifty yards? That was a laser Wow, amazing, how
much good does.

Speaker 3 (22:59):
It do you?

Speaker 4 (22:59):
If you reput Once you get on the green, you know,
and you bogie the hole, it doesn't matter. Like the
regular season is nice, but the playoffs are what matter
way more, way more. And if you look at the
tail of the tape between Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson
in the postseason, it's not even freaking close.

Speaker 3 (23:22):
It's not close. I'll give you a few numbers here.

Speaker 4 (23:27):
Again, I realize if I hit you with a handful
of numbers, you're not stupid. It's just there's just too
much going on. I'm the same way if I'm listening
to a show and they're like, here's a passer rating
is better than that. He's a completion rating and better
he's You just are swimming in numbers, right, So I'll
try to keep it as simple as possible. Let's look

(23:47):
at touchdowns and interceptions. Would you rather have a quarterback
who's thrown in the playoffs, just the playoffs, one quarterback
has thrown six touchdown passes six interceptions. The other quarterback
has thrown twenty one touchdown passes and four interceptions. Which

(24:08):
would you rather have? What you would rather have, Josh Allen,
is what you would rather have? Okay, let's go to
passer rating. It's important, right, We're talking touchdowns, interceptions, completion percentage,
yards per attempt, all important stuff. Right, we got like

(24:29):
four stats in one. Passer rating is important. So you
can either have a one hundred passer rating for the
playoffs or you could have a passer rating that is
seventy five point seven, Which would you rather have? Now,
just for context, if you said that seventy five points seven,

(24:51):
that's that not that bad? It's no, it's freaking terrible.

Speaker 3 (24:55):
It is.

Speaker 4 (24:56):
If you look this year, just for context, what a
passer rating of seventy five point seven where that would
put you, Well, that would put you below DeShawn Watson
and above Bryce Young. That's the territory you're in when

(25:18):
you're talking about seventy five point seven passer rating. So
that would be Lamar Jackson right, his playoff passer rating
for context, just using this season in the NFL, he
would be below Deshaun Watson. A question for you, was
Deshaun Watson ripping it up before he got injured for
the Browns in twenty twenty four?

Speaker 6 (25:41):
Was he?

Speaker 3 (25:41):
No?

Speaker 4 (25:41):
He was freaking terrible, is what he was? Well, guess what.
That's what Lamar. He's actually done a worst job in
the playoffs passer rating wise.

Speaker 3 (25:51):
Yeah, yeah, it's like that. So anybody who's.

Speaker 4 (25:54):
Saying, oh, Lamar, I'd rather have Lamar than Josh lle
will you'd rather have a quarterback who's worse in the
playoffs than Josh Allen has been. And you might say, well, okay, Brian, great, Well,
Lamar is known for running, right, what are the running
stats here? Okay, nice that you asked, So Lamar, he's

(26:16):
rushed for five hundred twenty one yards.

Speaker 3 (26:19):
Josh Allen is run one hundred sixty three yards.

Speaker 4 (26:23):
Now, Josh Allen is played in three more I'm sorry,
four more playoff games than Lamar. So you're like that
right there. But the rushing average is very comparable. You're
talking about Lamar is at seven point one yards per rush.
Josh Allen is at six point seven.

Speaker 3 (26:41):
Yards per rush.

Speaker 4 (26:43):
That is not a big difference at all, and arguably
maybe the most important stat maybe if you look at
it this way, wins and losses. Now, that is not
just a quarterback stat. Fully understand that, But if you
just look at the record itself, Josh Allen is five

(27:04):
and five in the postseason. Lamar Jackson is two and four.
And think about this. Think about a couple of those losses.
One was at home a couple of years ago as
a one seed. Remember they lost to the Tennessee Titans
at home. Embarrassing loss. Last year at home.

Speaker 3 (27:23):
Against the Kansas City Chiefs, and you can.

Speaker 4 (27:26):
Say flowers the fumble, Well, look the offensive coordinator only
six carries by their running backs. It's like that's all
true and factored into the loss. I also remember Lamar
throwing a pick into triple coverage in the end zone
that also contributed. But the Lamar fans, they don't want
to recognize that here's the bottom line. You're lying to

(27:50):
yourself if you're saying, I'd rather have the quarterback in
Lamar who's thrown fifteen fewer touchdown passes and two more interceptions.
Like worse passer rating is a completion percentage in the
playoffs is fifty seven fifty seven percent? That sucks, right,

(28:11):
passing yards per game not even close. Josh Allen landslide.
Josh Allen has been so much better in the postseason
than Lamar has then, not even arguable, Like these are
just facts, these are our numbers, Like it's inarguable. But hey,
if you want to cling to regular season success, okay,

(28:33):
I'd rather go with postseason again. We talked about Tom
Brady and Aaron Rodgers' last hour because the Jets team
owner Woody Johnson is incompetent and a clown show, and
apparently he's making personnel decisions based on Madden ratings.

Speaker 3 (28:53):
But but.

Speaker 4 (28:57):
Tom Brady has been a better quarterback versus career, not
even close, not even close. And people could look at
and be like, oh talent, oh this no, no, no, no no, no,
it's uh, you know, winning matters. Most who factored into
winning more? Was it Brady or Rodgers? Who was Brady? Okay,

(29:19):
if you apply that to Josh Allen and Labar Jackson,
who has factored into winning more when it matters most
come the postseason, it's been Josh Allen. Now they both
keep running up. It's this guy named Mahomes. Right, Josh
Allen has lost three times to Mahomes and the Chiefs
in the playoffs. Lamar has lost to the Chiefs just

(29:42):
this past season. So, make no mistake, Mahomes is like
the football version of Michael Jordan in terms of preventing championships.

Speaker 3 (29:51):
For all of.

Speaker 4 (29:52):
These quarterbacks, Josh Allen, if not for Mahomes might have
a ring Lamar Jackson, he would have had a better
path to the Super Bowl if not for Mahomes last season. Right, So,
Mahomes has gotten in both of their ways. I just
know that Lamar has to step it up come playoff time.

(30:13):
And you could argue with me until you're blue in
the face. Who should be the regular season MVP. That's fine,
It's gonna be Josh Allen whether you like it or not.
He's gonna be the guy that's gonna win the award.
But the true argument, if you've got Lamar over Josh
Allen as a playoff quarterback. You're just flat out wrong.

(30:34):
That's the case. Now subject to change. Who knows Lamar
could ball out in the playoffs, Josh Allen could stink
it up, and we'll revisit this, but to this point
it's a no contest.

Speaker 2 (30:47):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Ben Meler
Show weekdays at two am Eastern eleven pm Pacific.

Speaker 4 (30:52):
We're clearing the runway for mister Justin Cooper, another award winning.

Speaker 3 (30:58):
Edition of Coop Scoops. Take it away, Coop?

Speaker 5 (31:04):
All right, Brian, thank you.

Speaker 6 (31:05):
We've got a lot of a lot of good stuff
coming out in at least a lot of interesting stuff
coming out in theaters, because of course, we have all
of those movies that like to release on Christmas Day
for some reason. But already in theaters right now that
I have not mentioned on Coop Scoop we have Sonic
the Hedgehog three. Now it's not your guy in it,

(31:26):
right yeah. Jim Carrey who who said that he came
out of retirement to do this movie because he needs
the money. Don't know if he was joking or not,
but you know, you never know. But this is actually
getting this is actually getting great reviews for a you know,
for a third installment of a movie. A lot of
people saying it's the best one yet right now. As
far as audience score, it's a ninety eight percent on

(31:48):
Rotten Tomatoes.

Speaker 5 (31:49):
So yes, yeah, goodness.

Speaker 6 (31:52):
I enjoyed the first one, but I kind of slacked
and didn't see the second one, so I need to
catch up. But I'm probably gonna check that out. Also
in theater right now, we have Mufasa The Lion King.
That's right, So it's a prequel.

Speaker 5 (32:08):
Now.

Speaker 6 (32:09):
It's interesting because it's almost it feels it's like, you
want us call it live action because it's not the
same like cartoon animation as the original, but it's not,
you know, it's they're not live lions there filming. It's
still computer generated, but it's made to look it's made
to look realistic, like, you know, like they are realistic.
The reviews on this one are middling, But The Lion

(32:32):
King is probably my favorite Disney movie of all time.

Speaker 3 (32:37):
I'll tell you what, Man, that's a high bar to
live up to, you know.

Speaker 5 (32:40):
Oh yeah, for sure.

Speaker 6 (32:41):
So so I'm gonna check it out just at a
just out of pure curiosity. But coming out on Christmas Day,
we have a couple of big ones. First is a
complete unknown and uh, this is the Bob Dylan biopic.

Speaker 4 (32:57):
How do you feel about Bob Dylan as a musicians musician?

Speaker 3 (33:01):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (33:01):
Great?

Speaker 6 (33:03):
As a singer terrible? Right, Yeah, But you know, I
was never a big Bob Dylan fan. But Timothy Shallomey
is a great actor, and I'll definitely check it out
because I'm sure they're going to talk about Oscar nods
for for this performance.

Speaker 3 (33:19):
Big sports fan too, that guy.

Speaker 6 (33:21):
Do you say, yeah, right, yeah, he did a college
game day and broke things down like a professional. Do
you say biopic or biopic?

Speaker 3 (33:30):
I don't know. I think probably man biopic sounds like
a procedure.

Speaker 5 (33:40):
That's fair.

Speaker 6 (33:41):
I found, like I said, biopic the my entire life,
and then and then sometime within the last few years,
I'm like, that sounds weird.

Speaker 3 (33:47):
Yeah it does. I don't know. Is there a right
way to say it?

Speaker 5 (33:50):
I'm not sure. I just I just threw that out there.

Speaker 6 (33:54):
But another movie coming out on Christmas Day, and this
one's getting rave reviews, is Nosferatu, and it is the
latest vampire tale of the the famous Bram Stoker vampire.

Speaker 3 (34:08):
Huh, into the into the vampire movies there, coop.

Speaker 6 (34:11):
Yeah, if they're if they're well done. I do enjoy
some some vampire stuff. And this one's got some big names.
You got William Dafoe, Bill Scarsguard, Lily Rose Depp. So uh,
you know, big, big stuff. I'm definitely gonna check it out.

Speaker 3 (34:25):
Okay, very nice. What's your favorite vampire movie.

Speaker 5 (34:32):
That's a tough one.

Speaker 4 (34:35):
You've got the scene with Selma Hyak and from Dusk
Till Dawn you know.

Speaker 6 (34:41):
Oh yeah, that's a that's a great one. But I
I like Fright Night, Fright Night, Yeah, from the eighties.

Speaker 3 (34:47):
That's a really good one.

Speaker 5 (34:48):
Hmmm. William Ragsdale was the Crow?

Speaker 3 (34:52):
Was he fighting vampires? What were those things?

Speaker 1 (34:55):
Uh?

Speaker 5 (34:56):
Believe it or not, I've never seen the Crow.

Speaker 3 (34:58):
You've never seen the Crow?

Speaker 5 (35:00):
Oh right, that's I feel bad admitting that.

Speaker 4 (35:02):
You know what, there are some great scenes in that movie,
and there are a couple of scenes that you're like
that could have been done better. I would love to
know what you would say about that movie.

Speaker 3 (35:12):
Yeah, like the.

Speaker 5 (35:14):
Scene where he gets shot that could have been done better.

Speaker 4 (35:17):
Yeah, yes, probably top of the list, Yeah, I would imagine.

Speaker 6 (35:22):
Yeah, last, but not least, I'm gonna I'm gonna skip
a couple of things that I had written down here
because we're running a long time.

Speaker 5 (35:28):
But I did want to bring this.

Speaker 3 (35:29):
Up because you are arguing about Nick Benito.

Speaker 6 (35:32):
Maybe, but I do want to bring this up because
it is sports related. We have a documentary that premieres
Christmas Eve Tuesday on Amazon Prime Video. It's Chief's Aholic,
a Wolf in Chief's clothing.

Speaker 5 (35:49):
Yes, that's right.

Speaker 6 (35:50):
So if you want to learn about that crazy story,
check that out on Prime Video Tuesday, December twenty fourth.

Speaker 5 (35:57):
That's pretty wide and that is Koop Scoopa Entertainment
