Speaker 2 (00:24):
This is the best of the Ben Maler Show on
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (00:31):
Okay, so we start with is this good news? Now?
Initially it sounds like it is, but I'm not convinced
that it actually is. This is chiefs wide receiver Rashie Rice.
So he's going to have a disciplinary hearing that's expected
to be on September thirtieth in New York. So this

(00:54):
means he'll likely be able to play the first four
weeks of the season before any potential discipline, and we
can eliminate potential he's going to be disciplined like he
had a role in a multi car crash I left
multiple people injured during the twenty twenty four offseason. It's
finally played out in court, it's done with. So now
it's the NFL stepping in determining what the punishment is

(01:17):
going to be. The interesting part is it's supposed to
happen around September thirtieth, So you think, okay, Rashi Rice,
all these reports from Chiefs camp, just glowing reports. Some
of these reporters are saying he actually looks better and
more explosive than he did before he suffered a knee
injury last season. And so it's like, all right, Chiefs,

(01:41):
they're cooking with grease. Now they got their wide receiver one,
Rashie Rice on the field for the first four weeks
most likely. But I started thinking about this, and I'm like,
if it's up to the Chiefs, if they had it,
if they had their preference, what would their preference be?
Would it be that Let's just say it's a four weeks.
I don't know how long it's going to be, but

(02:02):
just for the sake of argument, let's just say it's
four games. Okay. If you're the Chiefs, would you prefer
your stud wide receiver to be suspended for the first
four games or like the next four games, you know
what I mean? Instead of weeks one through four, would
you pick weeks five through eight? Which would you choose?

(02:24):
I honestly don't know what they would choose. And I
looked at this, I'm strangely curious about this whole thing
because I'm looking at the schedule and I'm considering all
these things. If you look at the Rashi Rice situation,
just from the schedule standpoint, I think that the first
four games are a little tougher than the next four games.

(02:46):
So if Rashi Rice, if he were suspended the first
four weeks, which it sounds like he will not be,
so they take on the Chargers in Brazil. By the way,
fun fact, so I I dated a Brazilllion girl one time.
That's not the fun fact. Well maybe it is, but
she I said Brazil one time, like that's how and

(03:07):
she looked at me sideways and she goes, you don't
say it with an L. She's like, it's Brazil. And
I'm like, like with a W at the end, and
she's like, yeah, like Brazil. I'm like, all right, I
don't make the rules. Apparently that's the way if you
want to get in cool with the Brazilian crowd, you
don't go with an L at the end of the pronunciation.
You go with the W. But in any event, the

(03:30):
Chiefs are taking on the Chargers in Brazil. That's the
first game. Then they're at home to host the Eagles
at the Giants on a Sunday night, Then they host
the Ravens. So think of the three of the first
four games Chargers Internationally, Eagles, Ravens. That's pretty tough slate.
So it looks like Rashi Rice will be there for

(03:51):
the first four weeks. If you're a Chiefs fan, probably
good news. Now if you look at the next four
games at Jacksonville on a Monday, host the Lions on
a Sunday night, host the Raiders, host the Commanders on
a Monday night. So you've got three of the next
four games our primetime games, a couple of Monday night games,

(04:12):
a Sunday night game. Get the Lions in there, get
the Commanders in there. So it's not like this layup
of games, you know, layup city the next four weeks.
So like the schedule is what it is if you
think of it from a rhythm standpoint, right, having Rashie
Rice miss weeks one through four or miss weeks five

(04:34):
through eight, I really don't know what their preference would be.
Think about this. I think there are arguments on both sides.
You could start the season with Rashie Rice. He's there
for the first four games, you start to establish a rhythm,
and then the suspension kicks in and he's gone for
a little bit of time and then he comes back.
Is that easier for your team compared to, Hey, he's

(04:58):
just gone the first four weeks. We got to make
do without him, and then boom, he's there for Week
five and if healthy, he's there for the rest of
the season. I really don't know what their preference would be,
don't My guess is it would probably differ from team
to team, from player to player. There might be like
Mahomes might say, Oh, my preference is this. Meanwhile, Josh

(05:18):
Allen might say, well, you know, if it were up
to me and it's my stud wide receiver is suspended
for weeks one through four or weeks five through eight,
this is what I would prefer. I really don't know.
I don't know my I would say, my preference is
to have Rashie Rice there for the first four games.
You play three tough teams Chargers, Eagles, Ravens, and I

(05:41):
also think to establish a rhythm, to get into a groove,
to have him there for the beginning of the season.
I think that's important because you start to get you know,
solidified as an offense, and you find out what works,
you're finding out what does, and you're starting to get
into these patterns, right, and then he's gone for a

(06:05):
little while. You have to make do and then he's back.
I think that's a little bit easier than it is
to just not have him there for four weeks. You're
trying to make do. Maybe you start establishing some rhythms,
you're getting into some patterns that are working, and then
all of a sudden he's there and you have to
recalibrate everything. I think the way it looks like it's

(06:27):
gonna shake out, which is Russ ge Rice is going
to be there for the first four weeks. It's just
like an injury almost, you know, he goes away for
the next four games or however long the suspension is,
I don't know, and then you get him back. I
think that's a little bit better. So I don't know
why mine just latched onto that one, like I don't.

(06:48):
I'm strangely curious from team to team what they would
prefer if it were up to me, If I'm a
Chiefs fan. Put it that way, I would prefer for
him to be there for the first four weeks. Now,
the the disciplinary officer, the blast from the past, Sue L. Robinson.
She's jointly appointed by the NFL and the NFL Players

(07:10):
Association to oversee this disciplinary stuff. Right, used to be Goodell.
Now it's Sue L. Robinson. You might be like, how
do I know that name? That's what I was thinking.
It's It's like, okay, she presided over the Deshaun Watson
disciplinary hearing, right, she was the one that determined how
long that suspension was going to be. And her name

(07:33):
was thrown out there all the freaking time. What Sue L.
Robinson gonna rule?

Speaker 4 (07:38):
What?

Speaker 3 (07:38):
She blah blah blah. So that's the same Sue L. Robinson.
This is only her second disciplinary hearings. The second case
she's presided over will be Rashi Rice and we'll see.
I'm curious how long the suspension is going to be
and what week it actually kicks in. But that's the story.
He's supposed to get this disciplinary hearing on September thirtieth

(08:02):
in New York, and if that is the date, that
means he would be able to play the first four games.
So there you go. I think kind of interesting stuff.
By the way, for what it's worth in terms of
the suspension, amount of time, the length of the suspension.
So he pled guilty to two third degree felony charges.

(08:23):
It was collusion involving serious bodily injury and racing on
the highway causing bodily injury. Now he received deferred adjudications.
That means the case will be dismissed if he completes
the probation. Basically, it's like you have this probationary period
where if you don't screw up again, it just goes away.

(08:45):
It's basically how it works. So take that for what
it's worth. Sue L. Robinson will take all that into account,
and she'll say three games suspensioned or I don't know,
somewhere between three and six would be my guess, maybe
like three four games probably what he gets. But I'll
tell you what, man Rashi Rice being back for that

(09:06):
Chief's offense is gonna be a big, big deal. He
was off to a magnificent start last season, played only
three and a half games, productive, had twenty four catches,
almost three hundred yards, and three touchdown grabs in three
and a half games, averaging a touchdown a game basically,
So to have him back in the mix, that is
a big, big deal. I don't understand these people that

(09:29):
are like, ah, the blueprint has been figured out over here,
the blueprint to beating the Chiefs, that's established based on
the Eagles beating them. It's like, dude, the Eagles have
such a special roster. Let's not make it sound like
the Raiders bring the same thing to the table, you
know what I mean. Like this idea that the Chiefs
are gonna be I don't know, eight to nine this

(09:50):
season is ridiculous. I think that they're gonna still own
that division. I think they're still gonna be the biggest
problem in the AFC. You could argue the entirel but
for for Mahomes to have these weapons back led by
Rashi Rice is a big, big deal. But there you go.
Be there for the first four weeks. It looks like.

Speaker 2 (10:10):

Speaker 5 (10:19):
HI.

Speaker 2 (10:20):
This is Jay.

Speaker 6 (10:21):
I'm the producer of the Paula and Tony Fusco Show.
Usually in these promos they asked you to listen to
the show. I'm here to ask you please don't listen
to the show. The hosts are two absolute morons who
have the dumbest takes on sports, imagicable. Don't listen to
the show so it can get Camps.

Speaker 3 (10:34):
What the hell are you doing out studio? Get him,
paul Ignore that fool. Listen to the Pauline Tony Fusco
Show on the iHeart Radio app or wherever you get
your podcast.

Speaker 2 (10:46):
He's still moving.

Speaker 3 (10:49):
I typically don't find this interesting at all, and you're
probably like, well, then why would you be talking about it? No,
because I found something interesting about this subject. I typically
don't care about whatsoever. These lists come out, you know,
at some point during the year, probably around this time,
and it lists how much franchises in pro sports are worth.

(11:13):
So it's like, the average NFL team is worth seven
point one to three billion dollars. That's pretty crazy, just
the average team is worth that much. Now, when you
see like it's broken down in many different ways, and
most of it I just don't care about even a
little bit. Where this list is like Okay, the Cowboys
lead the way again. They're valued at twelve point eight

(11:37):
billion dollars. And then there are a couple other teams
that have crossed the ten billion dollars threshold. The Rams
have done that ten point four billion, Giants ten point
two billion. This to me is just like le it's
white noise. It's like, okay, we get it. They're worth
a lot of money. Great, what else you got for me?

Speaker 1 (11:57):
You know?

Speaker 3 (11:57):
But what stood out to me was this little nugget
where the Bengals, they're the team that's worth the least
in the NFL. They're still worth five point five billion dollars,
the Cincinnati Bengals. But this nugget is what really stood out.
So the Bengals, even though they're in last place in
terms of value among all NFL franchises, five point five

(12:21):
billion dollars. That's more than every NHL team, that's more
than all but four MLB teams, and that's more than
all but seven NBA teams. Think about that. That blows
my mind. Where you're the you know, the runt of
the litter, basically the Bengals in terms of what that

(12:43):
franchise is worth. But it's still worth more than all
but four MLB teams. Only four teams in Major League
Baseball are worth more than the last place Bengals in
the NFL, and then the NBA. The NBA has only
seven franchises that are worth more than the Bengals. That's it.

(13:05):
They have twenty three franchises that are worth less than
the last team in terms of NFL value. That is
wild to me. Like, we get it, we're football obsessed.
We understand that football is king, NFL is king, but man,
when you break it down in some of those ways,

(13:25):
it's still staggering to me. Like the least valuable is
more valuable than almost every MLB franchise. That's just like wow,
Like these I can just picture these commissioners and these
you know, these other team owners of like NBA MLB squads.

(13:46):
You can talk to Manfred or Adam Silver and it's
just like heh yeah yeah yeah, NFL yeah yeah yeah.
You know, it must be so annoying for those guys
to hear about this all the time, you know, Like
they came out with the Christmas Day slate. I think
it was Fan Duel tweeted this out today and it

(14:07):
just broke down how the games you know, when they're
scheduled and the overlap, and it's I just feel bad
for the NBA. I love basketball. I love the NBA.
You know I say it. You don't get a whole
lot of people saying that proudly I do. I love
the NBA, not like football, And I just feel bad
for the NBA when you look at this Christmas Day slate,

(14:28):
all the NBA games are going to be on ABC,
which is pretty cool. Right, It's on network television all
five games. Boom, just keep it locked on that. You
have to say, is this on ESPN? Is it on
ESPN two? Is this the ABC gaft? Nope, everything on
ABC won't matter. They'll still get their teeth kicked in.
It's like, so it starts off at noon, Calves Nicks, Okay,

(14:49):
one pm, Cowboys Commanders, flip, you know, flip over the ball,
and then you know it's a Spurs thunder that probably
wrap up right before kickoff of Lions Vikings, which is
another really good game on Christmas Day. So it's like,
MAVs Warriors, your ratings just got slashed in half, most

(15:11):
likely because you're going head to head with Lions Vikings
and then the nightcap Rockets at the Lakers. Right, you
see KD going against lebron squad Luca on the floor.
All right, we get we're cooking with grease over here.
Well yeah, like fifteen minutes later, it's gonna be Broncos
at the Chiefs. So yeah, have fun with that, NBA,

(15:31):
have fun with that. It's it's a rough reality right here.
You can put all your games on ABC. Not gonna matter,
not gonna matter. Your your audience is still gonna get crushed.
Happens every time. But the point is, like Adam Silver,
NBA team owners when they're like, oh yeah cool, you know,
just just when we're you know, we've already had a

(15:52):
bunch of gut punches, and we know our Christmas Day
ratings are gonna pale in comparison to the NFL. Now
we get this, what franchises our world? You're telling me
we only have seven NFNBA franchises worth more than the
Bengals that are the least valuable NFL team. Cool, great,
very uplifting news here on a Thursday.

Speaker 1 (16:12):
You know.

Speaker 2 (16:13):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Ben Maler
Show weekdays at two am Eastern eleven pm Pacific.

Speaker 3 (16:18):
So there's a story that caught my attention on Thursday.
This is Michael Porter Junior. Okay, so he's now playing
for the Brooklyn Nets. He is a former member of
the Denver Nuggets. He was traded. But he went on
a podcast and he was talking about sports betting and look,
he made some points that I completely agree with. And

(16:39):
the gist of it is this is all from his standpoint, right,
and it makes sense. He's the one who's dealing with
these idiotic fans that say, dude, I needed one more
basket and you couldn't score, and I'm just mad at you,
and he's got to deal with those people are worse.
He's like, we really do get death threats. His life
is threatened because he didn't get one more rebound and

(17:03):
the parlay didn't hit. You know, this is ridiculous, but
unfortunately that's what a lot of athletes have to deal with.
And a couple of Michael Porter Junior's thoughts on this podcast.
He said, the whole sports gambling entity, it's bad and
it's only going to get worse. And one of the
examples he said, the enjoyment of the game isn't for

(17:25):
the game anymore so that people can make money. In reality,
way more people are losing money than making money. Now
he's right about that, So think about it. This is
the dynamics, this is how it all comes together. And
a lot of athletes get screwed on this. So you
got a lot of sports betters now more than ever
because it's legalized. So you just get on your app

(17:47):
of choice, you know, bet MGM, DraftKings, Fan Duel, whatever,
and you search for the best line. Maybe you got
multiple sports books, right, and you're just firing away, and
there are a lot of betters that lose more than
they and then there are a lot of betters that
can't handle it. It might lash out at an athlete
or twenty and it becomes this whole sucky thing. It's terrible.

Speaker 5 (18:13):
What was what was the the part of the quote
that he said right before the part about there's more
people losing than winning.

Speaker 3 (18:21):
Oh, he said, the enjoyment of the game isn't for
the game anymore. Okay, that people can make money.

Speaker 5 (18:26):
So while I agree with that to an extent, I
feel like it needs like these sports, I mean, for
the most part, maybe not the NFL, but these sports
need gambling oh yeah, because the newer generations like gen
Z I just feel like a stimulants. They're they're not

(18:47):
as into sports as the you know, I feel like
the Millennials were like kind of the last you know,
and even then it's like kind of split, like uh,
you know, it's not this same type of fandom, right, It's.

Speaker 3 (19:02):
Not like the same obsession, right, like the same like
oh man, they're just like yeah, I'll catch the highlights
right right.

Speaker 5 (19:09):
It's not it's not the connection to the like where
you're you know, I'm the type of fan like where
and you know this is probably not healthy, but you know,
a bad game, a bad loss from the Broncos will
ruin my day, you know, like.

Speaker 3 (19:26):
You're throwing things.

Speaker 5 (19:28):
You know, Gamblers who are just playing on games, they
don't care. We'll see if they don't care, they care
about the money. Money. Yeah, it can ruin their their day,
but they you know, it's it's totally different.

Speaker 3 (19:40):
Yeah, it sucks. I hate it for the athletes because listen,
no one should be you know, talked to completely disrespectfully,
death threats, the whole. There's another story with Max Homer.
He's a golfer and he was talking about some of
the abuse that he faces and has to you know,
get off a social media and there are all these

(20:01):
threats and it's just too much. There was Lance McCullers.
There's a Houston astros pitcher. So there was an intoxicated
better overseas that sent messages on social media threatening to
murder his family and him. Why, well, because he had
a bad start. What so you know, your family's got

(20:22):
to go. He has this bad start on a Tuesday night,
wrecked my parlay. I mean, everybody's got to go, you know,
one by one. Crazy because I've never really thought about that. Yeah,
that's what happened.

Speaker 2 (20:32):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (20:33):
Crazy. But here's the thing though, this is the point
I want to make about all of this, because these
discussions turn into, hey, because of betting, this is what's happening,
and it's like no, no, no, no, no, stop right there.
It's not because of betting that these things are happening.
It's because people.

Speaker 5 (20:55):
Are a holes, because they're psychotic.

Speaker 3 (20:57):
Yes, that's why it's happening. So you can't fault betting,
like there's just a disconnect. Put it this way. If
if somebody I don't know had too many drinks one night,
and then did something crazy, you know, like, let's keep
it as apples to apples as possible. They threatened to

(21:17):
murder a person and his entire family. Right, you wouldn't
be like, well, alcohol, you know, if it wasn't for alcohol,
we'd be good. No, you would hold that person accountable.
You would say that's not acceptable, dude, right, Like, so
it's not alcohol's fault, it's not betting's fault. It's the

(21:41):
fault of the idiots that don't know how to behave.
That's the only thing I'm trying to say is, yeah,
just don't blame betting. Blame the person who can't handle betting.
That's the difference right there. But far too often I'm like, well,
I mean with betting, that's what Michael Porter Junior said

(22:02):
at the end, like the whole sports gambling entity, it's
bad and it's only going to get worse. I don't
have a huge problem with that statement, but it's sort
of getting to the same old song and dance where
it's like, if not for betting, like we'd be fine.
Here it's like, no, betting's not going anywhere. They're making
way too much money, Like Coop is saying betting's going.

(22:25):
It's the bridge for a lot of people to be
more invested in these sports. So it's not going anywhere.
It's just like, until these people understand that's not acceptable,
I don't know how you get that in their head,
they're either punished in a way or listen, I can
relate to this in some sort of way where like

(22:46):
filling in, being a fill in radio host, and I
get it. But I told my mom, I'm like, as
weird as this sounds, there are a lot of people
that don't even think of you as a human being.
It's the truth, It's true. They're just you're this person
on the radio, and where's Ben, where's the guy Ben
doesn't do lists? And who's this feeling guy doing list?

(23:09):
They hate you, that's all they think. They think like
you're some something something to entertain me. They don't think beyond.
They don't think, hey, you've got a sister, you've got nephews,
you got a girlfriend, you got a neighbor, bog cat, yeah,
you got Oreo visits. You're a human being, Like they
don't think like that. You're just this thing.

Speaker 5 (23:31):
Why are you doing this to me?

Speaker 2 (23:33):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (23:34):
Yeah, right, Like that's what it is. So it's the
same concept with sports betting and these athletes that pay
a price for these idiots that are just like I
would have won twenty K and this moron can't make
two free throws. I'm gonna tweet them. It's just like, no, dude,
that's a human being. You don't do that. That's not okay,

(23:54):
not cool. And I don't know how we can get
people to think along those lines. It's either their plunge
severely enough, were that sets in or it sinks in.

Speaker 5 (24:05):
Well see, But I also think that there's such a
fine thin line and it's and it's really almost like
arbitrary because you know, I if that happens to me, right,
I lose something by what I'm doing the same thing.
But I'm not seeking the guy out and tagging him,
but I'm cursing him, you know, like.

Speaker 3 (24:27):
Well listen, man, if they don't know it, then you know,
well the tree falls in the woods, you know, make
it sound yeah.

Speaker 5 (24:35):
But that was going to lead me to my next
statement because I thought, Okay, well do I go on
Twitter and sometimes tweet it out not directly to them,
but just out into you know, into space or what
And I thought, I'm like, you know, I've done that,
like you know, I mean, I don't know if it's
necessarily because of a bet, but I'm sure I have.

(24:56):
But I just I was thinking specifically after like game
one or Game two or whatever. I think I went,
I tweeted out, and I was like, man, Bonick sucks.

Speaker 3 (25:08):
Well listen that, that to me is in a different category, right, Listen.
If bon Nicks just goes on Twitter and hey, let's
see what people are talking about, Oh god, right, yes exactly,
that's yeah, that can suck. But if you're literally adding him,
you know, like you're dming him, right, Yo, that's I
think that's a completely different category where it's not the

(25:31):
coolest thing on earth just to even tweet it out there.
But it's not the same thing as like literally you're
basically texting them, you know what I mean Like that,
I don't think it's the same thing. Maybe they're cousins,
but I think they're distant cousins. I don't think that's
that's the same thing at all. But I feel bad
for the athletes. I'll tell you this, If I was
an athlete and had to deal with that, I'd probably

(25:55):
look at sports betting a lot more similarly to how
Michael Porter Junior looks at sports, he probably looks at
it think about it. So his brother is banned for
life because of sports betting, he gets death threats. Sometimes
it gets all these people like, bro, I needed two
more points? What the hell? Can you practice a little
bit harder?

Speaker 2 (26:14):
Babe?

Speaker 3 (26:15):
All the time you'd be like, oh my gosh, you
guys collectively just jump in a river. Please. I don't
want to hear from you ever again. So yeah, I'd
feel a certain type of way about it too. I
get it from his perspective, but I just don't think
you can get that twisted. It's not the fault of
sports betting. It's the fault of the people that can't
handle it and don't know how to treat y'all need

(26:37):
some mental health. Okay, that's right, y'all need some manners,
is what you need. Right.

Speaker 2 (26:41):

Speaker 3 (26:53):
All right, we got Coop Scoops. On a lighter note,
let's dive right into that Coop. You take it away, buddy.
I'm excited for this.

Speaker 5 (26:59):
Oh oh hold on, hold on, hold on, I'm sorry.
We need it before we do that. Before we do that,
we need to go to Marcel first, because okay, Marcel usual, yeah,
he usually throws it to me, so oh beautiful.

Speaker 3 (27:09):
All right, Marcel and Brooklyn, what's going on, buddy? How
are things?

Speaker 4 (27:13):

Coop Scoops for us here Marcel.

Speaker 4 (27:43):

we are going to start off in the theaters as
always on Coop Scoop on Entertainment and in the theaters.
This weekend, we have a sequel sequel that I'm actually
pretty excited about. It is Nobody Too. Oh yeah, did
you did you watch Nobody?

Speaker 3 (28:19):
I didn't. Oh man, it's funny. I had to flash
But I'll tell you a story in a second. But
love Bob Odin Kirk. I didn't see the original Nobody,
but it's good. It's good. The previous look good for
the second one.

Speaker 5 (28:32):
Yeah, I highly recommend it. So far, the critics are
liking this. It's got an eighty four percent critics score
on Rotten Tomatoes and then ninety three percent audience score,
so audiences are liking it even more.

Speaker 3 (28:43):
Dude, I just I gotta say real fast too. But
I had a flashback. You'll have one too. You remember
the No Buddies?

Speaker 5 (28:49):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (28:50):
Hell yeah, I just thought this is what we did.
It was a goofy thing like weekend overnights when Coop
and I were working together. That's it's kind of like
the Malard Militia. That's the best we could come up with.
Are you a no Buddy? Yeah?

Speaker 4 (29:02):
I are you?

Speaker 3 (29:02):
One of our listeners but that's what I just thought
of what you say in the movie title, good stuff.

Speaker 5 (29:07):
Yeah, mister nice guy is an original nobody.

Speaker 3 (29:10):
That's right, he is.

Speaker 5 (29:11):
That's right.

Speaker 3 (29:11):
Telly got his burner and became a hater.

Speaker 5 (29:13):
I yeah, So this one, this one's you know, it's
it's of course gonna be action packed, but it's also
packed with star power. Uh, you know, aside from Bob Owenkirk,
we've got Connie Nielson, We've got Colin Hanks, Christopher Lloyd,
Sharon Stone. Wow. Yeah, So it's gonna be uh, it's
gonna be a good one. So check that out in

(29:34):
theaters right now. Also in theaters. This one was probably
more of a limited release, so you might have a
little bit of trouble finding it. But it is called
Americana and it is a movie that stars Sidney Sweeney.

Speaker 3 (29:48):
Oh I see see how your voice changed right there.
I know how you feel.

Speaker 5 (29:53):
About sid that's right. Also, Uh, you know I always say,
is it housy? Is that how you pronounce it? Halsey Halsey, Halsey. Yeah,
she's in this as well.

Speaker 3 (30:04):
Halsey.

Speaker 5 (30:05):
Yeah, okay, she is she a pop singer. Oh no, yeah, yeah, okay,
all right, anyway, she's in that as well. And this
is basically it is a gallery of dynamic characters clashing
over the possession of a rare Native American artifact in
a modern day Western Okay, yeah, all right, so check

(30:28):
that out for Sidney Sweeney if not anything else, right,
but a lot of people will. But that being said,
so far it is being well received by their critics.
Well good, yes, Moving over to television, Brian, we have
a couple of new things here. One of them is
music related. But before I get to that, hold on,

(30:50):
say okay, we have on Netflix available right now. It
is a new drama slash that they're called Night Always Comes,
and it stars Vanessa Kirby. Do you know who that is?

Speaker 3 (31:00):
I don't based on name. I gotta google her.

Speaker 5 (31:03):
She is in Fantastic Four in theaters right now. Okay,
she was also.

Speaker 3 (31:08):
In uh oh, I do know her.

Speaker 5 (31:10):
She was in The Crown, one of the Bond movies.
Oh yes, yes, yeah, that is well and I think
she was. She also in a Fast and Furious movie.

Speaker 3 (31:19):
Oh really, wow?

Speaker 5 (31:20):
I think I don't know, but yeah, so it starts
it stars her Jennifer Jason Lee.

Speaker 3 (31:25):
Oh I'm bad. It was one of The Mission Impossible.
Sometimes I get Bonded Mission Impossible mixed up. But she
was kind of like a bond girl role in The Impossible.

Speaker 5 (31:35):
That's rights.

Speaker 3 (31:36):
Yeah yeah, yeah, a good movie though, that one. I
think it was the seventh one Mission Impossible. But I
know her from that, Yeah, yeah, I remember. She's good.

Speaker 5 (31:44):
Yeah. So basically this is the film follows a woman
over the course of a single, increasingly stressful evening, as
she makes her way through Portland, Oregon, in a desperate
quest to raise enough money to save her family's home.

Speaker 3 (31:55):
Oh man, yeah, that is realistic, right there, you kid, make.

Speaker 5 (32:01):
Right right.

Speaker 3 (32:02):
Good luck to her and that one my gosh.

Speaker 5 (32:04):
Yeah. So that is us streaming right now on Netflix
on let's see, is this on Monday? Oh no, it
is on Tuesday. Tuesday on Netflix, we have the premiere
of a music documentary Devo.

Speaker 3 (32:18):
Oh that's right, what's that about?

Speaker 5 (32:23):
Well, it is about the new wave band huh and yeah.
It takes a look at the origins of the Akron,
Ohio band.

Speaker 3 (32:36):
Wow, So are you a fan of this band?

Speaker 5 (32:39):
I mean, you know they've got a nice song huh.

Speaker 3 (32:45):
Okay, what's their most well known song called whip It?
That's Devo. How do you spell?

Speaker 5 (32:51):
Yeah, okay, that's a one with the red hats, right, yes, ye, yes, yeah,
Devo with the red hats. Okay, yeah, is it a
d E V Oh?

Speaker 3 (33:00):

Speaker 5 (33:05):
They call them the energy domes. That's what they wear
on their heads.

Speaker 3 (33:07):
The energy domes. Yeah, okay, but cant me in on
most listen almost any genre. A lot of these docs
are really interesting.

Speaker 5 (33:18):

Speaker 4 (33:20):
You have?

Speaker 5 (33:20):

Speaker 3 (33:22):

Speaker 5 (33:23):
Okay, Well there's a there's a good Billy Joel documentary.

Speaker 3 (33:27):
Oh really? Okay?

Speaker 5 (33:28):
That I that I recommend? Whoa oh yeah yeah.

Speaker 3 (33:34):
Yeah energy domes.

Speaker 5 (33:42):
Yes, wow, that'd be a costume. You could do that
for Halloween, go to the.

Speaker 3 (33:47):
Poker table wearing that, you know?

Speaker 5 (33:50):
Yeah? Alright, alright, all right? And then, last, but not least,
another one of this is gonna sound deranged, but another
one of my childhood crushes. At least it's a movie
about her.

Speaker 6 (34:01):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (34:01):
This is on Wednesday, August twentieth on Hulu, and it
is the Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox. It is a
limited series about uh, the girl who was wrongfully convicted
of murder and held in prison in Italy. This was snap. Yeah,
this was all going on when I was I think
it was when I was in high school and I

(34:23):
was like following it in the news when it was happening,
and she's super cute, so I have wow.

Speaker 3 (34:29):
Yeah, but she was innocent.

Speaker 5 (34:30):
Yeah, I mean, look, there's still to this day, there's
a whole contingent of people that argue that they still
think that she did it, and but I am not
one of those people. And eventually she was you know, uh,
I guess what's uh, what's the term I'm looking for? Yes, exonerated,
thank you. But yeah, that is a that is on

(34:53):
Hulu Wednesday, the Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox, and that
is Coops Entertainment.

Speaker 3 (34:58):
Now, is this because of the facts of the case
or because he found her very attractive that you thought
she was innocent?

Speaker 5 (35:03):
You know what I mean? It was definitely because of
the facts of the case. Okay, I wanted her to
be innocent, But no, I when I was in I
like deep dive, like researched it on all the different likes.

Speaker 3 (35:17):
Okay, yeah, interesting, So you're gonna be all about this,
But it's a documentary, right August twentieth, you said it's
coming up.

Speaker 5 (35:26):
It's a it's not really a documentary. Yes, there's like
actual you.

Speaker 3 (35:32):
Know, actors and all. Yes, yes, they're just recreating them.

Speaker 5 (35:35):
Yes.

Speaker 3 (35:35):
Story Okay, what would you call that? Just a just
a movie based on a true story.

Speaker 5 (35:40):
Yeah, yeah, based on a true story. Drama, I guess.

Speaker 3 (35:43):
