You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Well you heard the
man creating salutations happy Thanksgiving. I am not Ben Mallor.
I'm not archiebelling the drills. I'm not Kim Kardashian. My
name is Bernie fraddle W' comedy line from the Tarrack
dot com studios here in Las Vegas. Tyrack dot com.
(00:47):
We'll help you get there an unmatched selection, fast free
shipping for your road hazard protection and over ten thousand
recommend an installers. Tyreck dot com the way tire buying
should be. Well, if you're scoring at home, and I
hope you are, this is my nineteenth Ben Mallor show
over the years. And you know I do have mad
(01:08):
respect for the Mala militia. These are not empty words.
I get it. There's you know, raider Nation, the Cheeseheads,
Bill's Mafia, Cameron Crazies, they're all good. But you know
I ride with the Malard Militia. So tonight you get
to prove your metal. I will honor Ben's format. We'll
take your calls throughout the night at eight seven, seven
ninety nine on Fox, and don't be shy, bring it,
(01:28):
bring it early and off. And it's the holidays. I
don't really give a flying horses patoot. If you like me,
you don't like me, just pick up the phone. We'll
chop it up. Have a little fun. Now, let's keep
it real. If you're like most Americans these past few days, well,
you most likely have taken advantage of the fact that
during this time of the year, gluttony is not a sin.
(01:52):
So by now I'm guessing you're still recovering from your
food coma. Don't act like you're not. I can see
you from here, sitting there post holiday meals, slumps in
your chair, all bloated, listless. The only words running through
your head or why the hell did I eat so much?
But you know the answer is that food was food comas.
Excuse me, there about as common as won't booze hangovers
(02:15):
during the holidays. Now, it doesn't help as human beings,
because you see, we are hardwired toward binge eating. Why well,
our primal ancestors they had to endure long periods with
no food, so once they found it, they would eat
everything they could get their hands on. Binge eating is
(02:37):
actually a documented eating so I get that. At least
that's what some drunk guy told me at the bar
when I was eating a hot dog, and our crack
research team shows that for most of us it mainly
takes hold during the holiday season. Binge eating I'm referring to. So,
by the way, can I get something off my chest?
(02:58):
Speaking of hot dogs, well, I was rushing one or
three the other day. I actually saw a dude putting
ketchup on his hot dog. What you don't put ketchup
on a hot dog? Very few things set me off.
I'm a reasonable man, but I don't like it when people,
for instance, pronounce the name Kelly Clarkston because it's really
(03:21):
Kelly Clarkson. Yeah, don't do that. Also, I don't like
when people go to the grocery store or leave their
cart in the middle of the parking lot instead of
taking the extra thirty two seconds to push the cart
back to the proper receptacle area with me. Come on,
come on, man, you do that stuff. You're going to
hell on a scholarship. But when I see people put
(03:42):
ketchup on a hot dog, I want to kill myself
with a chainsaw. You don't put ketchup on a hot dog.
Ketchup does not enhance the flavor of a dog. It
camouflages it. Ketchup is basically sugar. You don't put sugar
on a hot dog. You're killing the dog. You're killing me.
It's like putting ice cubes wine. So getting pizza with
a spoon. But I digress. Huge show to night. In
(04:06):
case you missed it, there was an NFL triple header
Thursday and in just a few arms. By the way,
the Raiders will play the Chiefs in a standalone Black
Friday game, plus big college football weekend Ohio State, Michigan
notre Eday in USC We're gonna get to all that stuff.
But I also got to get something else off my chest.
Did you buy any chance? See? I covered thirteen Detroit
(04:28):
Lions Thanksgiving the games, and I saw some weird ones.
Trust me. The Jerome bettest game in nineteen ninety eight,
when Jerome Bettis called heads and the referee thud. He
called tails and the Lions got the ball one and overtime.
That was Barry Sentaer's final Thanksgiving game, by the way,
that led to a rule change. Will wait, the Lions
(04:49):
would own sixteen that year. Covered that game they lost
forty seven to ten. They've played ninety these things. Ninetieth
anniversary since the Lions started this deal in fiftieth, by
the way, fiftieth anniversary today, since the last time the
game was played outdoors. But enough about memory Lane. What
in the hell happened with the Bears at the end
(05:10):
of the game. If Matt Aberflus, the Chicago Bears head coach,
with all the respect, had one foot on a banana
peel and the other in the grave, you could pretty
much write his epitaph right now, with all due respect,
I don't know what could save him. A chaplain, maybe
the irony. It was in the midst of a remarkable
(05:31):
late game comeback and the Bears end up losing twenty
three to twenty on Thanksgave. For a while, it actually
looked like the story of the game would be Caleb
Williams showing up and showing out in the second half,
which he hasn't done this year, but Matt Eberflutes one
uped him with incredibly baffling clock management that completely overshadowed
the entire game. Did you miss it? Shame on you
(05:54):
if you did, because with thirty six seconds left in
the game, the Bears were set up on the Lions
thirty six yard line, well within range to at least
tie the game at twenty three with a field goal
and send things into overtime. However, second and twenty and
Williams got sacked back of the Detroit forty one. When
he went down, there were thirty six seconds left in
(06:15):
the game and the Bear still had one time out.
Spoiler alert, they still have one timeout. Bears coach Matt
Eberflus chose not to use it. Why answer that question?
We can sell, we can create piece of them at least. Instead,
he lets the clock tick down, likely in case he
maybe was going to use the timeout to set up
(06:36):
a field goal or try to win the game. But
it took ten seconds for Caleb Williams to get up
and get his bearings. Then he started signaling a play
to his teammates what he was doing, I don't know,
kind of walking around. Looked like a chicken with his
head cut off. Looked like the old Mike McCarthy, Barney Rubble.
I went to the ball. I forgot where I parked
my car and wandering around the lot. And by the way,
(06:56):
the clock is taking down. Williams gets in the shotgun,
cenerrated to snap the ball. Now we're all the way
down to twelve seconds left. Caleb Williams, showing the rookie
that he is, continues to survey the defense and ponder
his naval finally eventually calls for the snap with six
seconds left in the game, threw it deep for another
(07:18):
first round draft choice, Roma Dunze. The ball sales over
his head at the five yard line, and when the
ball hit the ground, the clock tick zero. The game
was over, and there was jubilation in Detroit. Cargo loses
with one time out on the clock, an absolutely embarrassing
play in what frankly completely overshadowed and wiped out a
second half effort for the Bears where they almost erased
(07:40):
the sixteen to nothing halftime deficit. Meanwhile, the Lions, first
time ever, they're eleven and one eleven to one for
the first time in franchise history, and of course coach
Iberflus tried to wax philosophical after the game. You know,
maybe he's being honest, maybe he's in denial, maybe he
lacks self awareness, but he actually said the following quote,
(08:02):
I think we handled it the right way. Sure, it
just didn't work out the way we wanted it to.
You think, you think, yeah, just never mind the horses blind,
just keep loading the cart. We'll talk about this game
maybe a little bit later in the show, because with
three p forty one left in the game, the Bears
(08:22):
actually looked like they were really going to give the
Lions a scare. Who Actually, the Lions had lost seven
straight Thanksgiving Day games prior to prior to Thursday, and
three of those games were to the Bears. It almost
became eight by the way. You know, not for nothing.
(08:45):
Just have a little fun. People don't take me too serious.
Man in Fennis says Bernie. I'm not afraid to say
I put ketchup on my ketchup back during my first job,
they called me the ketchup kid for a reason. Lol.
I do put it on my hot dogs. My dad
says the same thing you do, but he puts musch
his I like your dad, Bernie out a million some
stadium mustard. If you can't get it where you're at, Richard,
(09:06):
beg as they say, I'm catch up Minnesota. It's gonna
be lit. Keep them coming, I'll read them. Appreciate you guys. Look,
I'm just having a little fun tonight. Okay, we're not
solving the world's problems. We're not, you know, finding cures
for diseases. This is sports talk radio at least most
of the time. Coming up, we're gonna bring you back
(09:27):
out to Vegas. Bill Krackman Krakenburger, the legend, my longtime friend.
You hear him all around the network and on Sunday
mornings with countdown to kickoff, and those are the price
of admission, so you're gonna wanna not go anywhere. Be
sure to catch live editions of The Ben Maller Show
weekdays at two am Eastern eleven pm Pacific on Fox
(09:49):
Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app. All right back at
the Ben Mallor Show. Happy Thanksgiving, Bernie Fraddles sitting in
for Ben Mahller, Coming to you Alive from the Tarrek
dot Com Studios here in Las Vegas at this time.
It's welcome and a genuine legend here in Las Vegas
(10:10):
and around the country. Frankly, you hear him on the
network here Sunday morning contown to kickoff, but you don't
have to look very far to see him in the
air everywhere. As Ben would say say hello to my
good buddy, Bill Crackman Krackenberger crack thanks for staying out, Bud, Hey,
no problem.
Speaker 3 (10:28):
Big day today and it was a fun day. Almost
got knocked out, you know. I'm back in the Survivor pool.
I bought back in. I had Detroit almost Oh my goodness. Yeah,
that was a that was that would have been a
big waste of money. I spent a lot of money
on to get back in. So happy to say.
Speaker 2 (10:48):
Well, I was sweating it out too. I had the
under of forty eight and a half. They tie that
game up twenty three to twenty three. I told you
was somebody to put the maloica on me. Recently cracked
with all these divisional unders, sneaking over in the last minute.
But be that as it made. Just one quick takeaway
from that game. Do you believe Michael Parson. He says
(11:09):
he thinks you're gonna turn it around, sneak their way
back into the playoffs. I'm certainly not buying it. What
are your thoughts?
Speaker 3 (11:16):
I just I just don't think so. I can't see
them sneaking back in. I like the word sneaking, but
I just I just don't see it happen. And you know,
after watching today though, it just makes you think that
you see everything going on. You see all these games
coming down almost to the wire. Listen, they beat a
(11:40):
they beat a Giant squad that's just not good. And
the Giants are literally a team that probably even kind
of gave up on the season maybe last week, you know,
after getting embarrassed in front of Tampa. So I don't
think much about the Dallas squad. I had their season
wins under for the year. I don't see them going on.
(12:02):
I mean, now we see the Cream rising to the
top in that division with the Eagles, and even even
Washington we see faltering a little bit, especially with their
big loss that they had as a ten and a
half point favorite last week.
Speaker 2 (12:16):
Todd with Bill Crackman Krackenberger. You hear them on our
network Sunday mornings count down to kickoff. Crack. We're going
to get to some big Coms game Saturday. We've got
a black Friday noon Pacific time kickoff. Raiders Chiefs Raiders
catching thirteen and by the Raiders coach own admission, they're
the worst team in football. I never want to lay
(12:37):
double digits in any divisional game ever, But I don't
know how you can back the Raiders here. Do you
have any thoughts on that game?
Speaker 3 (12:43):
You know, I'm an underdog guy by nature, my whole life.
I've probably got about sixty five percent sixty to sixty five,
maybe a little bit less now because you have to
evolve and you could bet favorites now. But I don't
min ever laying, ever laying anything more than I want
to tell you something that burning up. I really don't
lay more than three and a half, never mind double digits.
(13:03):
I've never laid double digits on an NFL game, especially,
like you said, a division game. A Las Vegas squad
who hasn't played this team well over the years. As
we know what happened last season with Vegas and Kansas City.
And however, this squad is so depleted, Uh my god,
this squad really is depleted in Kansas City. I mean,
(13:27):
they should have lost last week to Carolina, So how
do they come back and give thirteen to anyone when
they really should have lost last week. So but that
all being said, and I'll just have some props on
this game. I will not have a side on this game.
Very rarely do I even bet any side. So luckily enough,
(13:47):
I did have Gregg give that Green Bay on about
a dozen different shows this week, so I was happy
about that. But as far as side to go, I
really don't give out too many sides I'll have. I'll
actually give you one here I'm not gonna have can
the City chiefs mahomes over are very rare over for me.
I think he's going to have some yards over, so
(14:07):
I like his over on his yards. I actually didn't
even didn't even give that out anyone. You're the first source.
You're the first person who I'm giving that out to today.
Kansas City chiefs mahomes overpassing yards, like I said, very rare.
I liked it about unders because naturally have a built
in advantage of someone maybe getting hurt, Not that I
want them to get hurt, but someone getting hurt or something,
(14:28):
but this kid something specially, he just knows.
Speaker 2 (14:31):
How to win.
Speaker 3 (14:32):
Everyone had Detroit Lions as their number one team and
all their power rankings and power ratings and they're the
best team in football. Well we see what almost happened
to them to them today and their defense has just
been depleted. So I just don't know how they can
be such a strong separation between Detroit and Kansas City
(14:52):
as the best team in football, or even Buffalo or
a couple of Baltimore as one of the highest performance
offenses out there. Tell you what this year, boy, all
these teams, there's not really a lot of separation. Sure
that the top maybe five teams in football, any one
of them can win it.
Speaker 2 (15:10):
I agree with that. And regarding Mahomes, look, there's an
old saying, can you be great when the situation demands great?
And it's and I think that's Pat Mahomes calling card.
And you can't count this Chiefs out and they actually
got a preod run defense. So I know everybody's gaga
about Lamar Jackson right now, but in my experience, he's
been missed October. Let's see what he does in January.
(15:33):
I want to jump to the college game ever so
quickly because we've got this new twelve team playoff format
and there are three or four games I want to
run quickly by you. But first of all, do you
like the new twelve team format or based on what
you're seeing shaking out, is it not solving the problems
the past years?
Speaker 3 (15:50):
Oh? You know, you know, it may get some more viewership,
it may get some more fanship to the game, and
you know what it does make get a little more interesting.
So yeah, I'll say sure, I like it more. I
think it's better for the game and better for the fans,
and anything that can be better for the fans, I'm
all four.
Speaker 2 (16:11):
All right, one game Friday that has some playoff implications.
If Colorado can beat Oklahoma State, they got a shot
to be in the Big twelve championship game. Oklahoma State
catching sixteen. I don't like either side the game. Your thoughts?
Speaker 3 (16:25):
Yeah, This game opened up seventeen here in Las Vegas
at circa down the sixteen and a half. Not a
lot of movement though from this game half a point
even the I use two different sportsbooks for the other
sportsbook as guides by the way, so the other sportsbook
open sixteen and a half still sixteen and a half.
One thing I see here, maybe a lean towards the over.
(16:47):
You know, I follow a lot of other guys when
it comes to college football totals. There's only one or
two guys I really respect, but I follow them, and
they lean towards the over. Here a couple sixty six
is out there already, sixty five and a half seems
to be like the number. But yet then again Aaron
Vegas are sixty five and sixty sixes So a place
(17:08):
like the circle which has sixty five looking there, they
have the lowest number. But if anything, I leaned to
the over. You could bet overs in these situations when
you have high power explosive offenses here, so of course
Colorado being the favorite to do that. But again I
didn't bet it's that would be my lean.
Speaker 2 (17:26):
Talking to Bill Crackman Krackenberger crack Let's Talk, Saturday noon,
eastern nine Pacific. I covered ten of these games. It's
the greatest rivalry in Collin sports of my belief. Michigan,
ohiose state. It looks like Michigan money is really starting
to come in. Actually grab Michigan at twenty one. On Tuesday,
Here's why I bring the game up, crack. Can you
(17:46):
ever remember and I don't think it's Michigan team's good,
but can you ever remember a defending national champion getting
twenty one points in any game the following year? Consider
the fact also that Ryan Day in his career at
a house state is like six and twelve against his
bread in home November games. Are you involved in this game? Saturday?
Speaker 3 (18:07):
You said it right. This game opened up twenty one.
It's been all Michigan's money since then, down to nineteen.
That's some of the key sportsbooks in town here. But
yet there's still twenty and a half at some of
the slower moving sportsbooks in town here. Listen, I like
Michigan first half to keep up with them. That's a
solid ten and a half. It's actually eleven and a
(18:27):
half's here at the winning stations in town. If you
guys notice, I'm talking about a lot of different sportsbooks here.
It's very, very key to have many different sportsbooks in
your arsenal. It's very key. Even if you come to
Vegas for like two to three four days, if you're serious,
then you've been any to be more than you know,
twenty five bucks or something. You should definitely fund many
different apps when you're in town here, Like I said,
(18:49):
these half a points or even full points on this
first half game. There's two eleven and a half in
downs and there's ten and a half, So I definitely
lean towards the first half taking Michigan plus the points.
I think Michigan is going to come out all pumped up.
This divisions, I mean the division, this old school rival game,
This is a this is really going to be fun,
(19:11):
fun game to watch, maybe tighter earlier than later, but
the money did come out on Michigan.
Speaker 2 (19:17):
Another big game that does have playoff implications Arizona State
laying eight and a half at Arizona and it's only
got implications for one team, Arizona State. Of course, the
Sundals have to win to put themselves in position to
make the Big twelve championship game. Thoughts on that game.
Speaker 3 (19:37):
Arizona State opened up as an eight point favorite up
to nine At that same sportsbook doc I said that
I do respect again, this is situations. You can lay
that kind of points on on one of you, either team.
You can lay points like that now in the in
and any really sport years ago I would only take
(19:59):
underdogs in the situations or just past the game. So
situationally here though I'm not involved at all, and if
I'm leaning towards anything, there's still some slow moving sportsbooks.
The sportsbooks out there that do have Arizona State minuts
eight and a half, looks like most of the sportsbooks
(20:21):
are leaning towards the nine, including my sponsor on my
show on the weekend at MGM with a nine.
Speaker 2 (20:28):
Craig, Let's go out to Los Angeles, an all time matchup,
although this game doesn't have nearly the luster it's had
in the past years. Notre Dame laying seven and a
half at USC. Now what's interesting is people I respect
on both sides are giving varying opinions. Obviously, this is
USC Super Bowl, but I can't really trust Lincoln Riley.
(20:50):
But I would only look to the seven and a half.
Notre Dame has to win this game or I don't
think they'll get a playoff Berth. I don't think because
of anyone. They're not in a conference. They won't take
a two lost teams that didn't win a conference championship.
Can you see some value in grabbing USC in the
points here?
Speaker 3 (21:07):
You know, even though even though the line opened at
seven at the two key sportsbooks went up to seven
and a half and still sit at seven and a half,
and the one sportsbook more towards the eighth even I
can't lay it. I can't lay it in that situation
here first USC. I would have to lean USC in
(21:28):
this game. But you know, I don't know if you
know me, Bernie like this, I don't bet a lot
of these big type of games. You know, Auburn, Alabama's,
Notre Dame, USC's, these big games that are big name
teams that even Kansas Baylor. I kind of stay with
him because lots of eyes are on these games. Ohio State,
Michigan that might as well just be an NFL game.
(21:51):
These games are so hard to beat. I look because
there's so many eyes on, which means it is an
efficient line. Trus me, I'll look more towards the ses
that's right, these ugly little teams that and I say
ugly because no one's ever even realized that they have
games going on. I mean Prolence and the state most
people can't even name it. State that Abilene Christian, you know, Richmond, Tennessee, Martin.
(22:15):
These are the teams that the lines aren't even up yet,
So what does that mean a guy like me? I
know these lines are going to come up the day
of the game, and it's definitely a less efficient game.
I'd rather bet those type of games with the information
that I have and look to these big name teams.
I know it sounds born, but I'm not here to
have fun and enjoy myself and bet my favorite teams
(22:37):
and Mileygon is my bank roll. Only I look to
the smaller schools.
Speaker 2 (22:41):
That was so cool though, Texas had Texas A and M.
Texas A and M getting the five and a half points.
This is for the right to go to the SEC
championship game. And I got to say you, the points
look tempting. They're the home team getting five and a half.
Any thoughts on that game?
Speaker 3 (22:57):
You know what isn't Isn't that a fun game? Now? Now,
I say I don't been a lot on a lot
of these games, but I'll tell you this, I would
love to go to one of those type of games.
I have never been to a Notre Dame game boy,
I tell you I'd love to never been to a note.
I have such great juice there that I actually can
go tour the campus and stuff like when you say Texas,
(23:20):
Texas and Amager just reminded me of that, you know,
that old school vival type of game. And this is again,
this is this spread opened up four and a half five,
it's still five. A couple five and a half's out there.
What a great game to go to, though. Uh, these
these these rival type of games. And I'm sure I
know you you've worked so much football in your life. Not
(23:42):
only have you been to these games, you've called a
lot of these games. I really envy you for that.
I really do. Well.
Speaker 2 (23:48):
Get to Notre Dame if you can. I've been to
at least half a dozen games there. And stay in
Benton Harbor, Michigan. Let me know when you're going. It's
just a twenty minute drive straight south to South Bend. South.
There's no in South Bend. With all the respect to
South Bend, I mean, unless you want to close down
Jombajuice or some damn thing. But the bottom line is
if you stay in Benton Harbor, it's not near the water.
Nice nice restaurants. All right, let's jump to the NFL
(24:11):
crack and then everybody's gonna get a treat here. We're
gonna wrap this up. We're in that holiday season. We'll
do this last crack. Folks come to Vegas. Tell them
just some quick dues and don't so they can have
a good time here. But odd card this week in
the NFL, and you know, a couple of games jumped
to mind. San Francisco catching seven from Buffalo and the
(24:31):
Eagles catching three from Baltimore. I actually would lean to
the dog in both of those.
Speaker 3 (24:37):
Your thoughts definitely lean to the dog in the Soladelphia
Baltimore game. And this is the same Baltimore team that
at home was embarrassed by the Raiders earlier in the
season at home. I think Soladuffy's just been on a roll.
They have just been lightning on a roll here. And listen,
Baltimore is averaging like four hundred I was seeing like
(24:58):
four hundred and some yards per game as the highest
power offense here. This is the This may be like
literally this year's Super Bowl game. Maybe that good, maybe
better than the actual Super Bowl three and fifty one.
It opened up opened up around three forty nine and
a half fifty two and a half around there. Baltimore
played a good game the other day, so they got
pumped up to three. I'm looking forward to watch this
(25:21):
game very rare. I watched the game as a fan,
as I said earlier, same thing with the Buffalo San
fran game. I understand San Franz got some injuries and
some guys that are maybe you know, a little gingerly
walking around, and then you know they'll try to do
what they can on on Sunday night primetime game. Did
you ever think that this game preflop? I'm sure I
(25:42):
don't know what it was, but I can guarantee it
wasn't the seventh so uh and preflop means at the
beginning of the season, right now, look ahead lines right yeah, yeah,
the poker term though, Buffalo probably about a three. Now
it's up to seven. Boy, I didn't I didn't get
involved in either one of these games. I would lean,
like you though, to the dogs. More more of the
Philadelphia game. I will give you a team I did bet,
(26:04):
and I'll tell you I bet this game and that
it went against me a little bit. It's back to
the same line. I use the CLV closing line value.
I did bet Seattle over the Jets, so I do
have Seattle. They've been on a little bit of a
role the Jets is to go in the opposite way.
I literally want to continue that train hopefully. And I
did bet Seattle a rare NFL side that I bet.
(26:27):
And also Cincinnati over Pittsburgh.
Speaker 2 (26:30):
I'll just tell best play the game week.
Speaker 3 (26:32):
Oh really yeah, Cincinnati over Pittsburgh. I'll tell you I've
better here at the South Point minus two and a
half multiple times, you know for their max bet. I
just think that Pittsburgh had such a tough schedule here too,
uh coming up, Oh my god, they have so many
tough games. But this is a game that Cincinnati needs more.
Pittsburgh's been on a roll. But I think Pittsburgh's one
(26:54):
of those spaghezy teams. They have gotten there and then
where they have with it's I think on Cleveland showed
them up a little bit last week. So there is
a couple of teams I like this week in the NFL,
Cincinnati and Seattle. I'll stick with them and see if
I can get a three feet here after green Bay
one today.
Speaker 2 (27:13):
Look, Tomlin, teams have faded in the last couple I
like this Cincinnati team. You get a nice cozy line,
and in the last couple of years you get to
week twelve or after the Steelers lost to the Cardinals.
Last year they were two inten they lost to the Patch.
Last year they were two inten they lost to the Browns.
Now then Thursday night game they're two and eight. So
I love Cincinnati last one. Whenever I this used to
(27:36):
be an auto play for me. Whenever a team under
five hundred, it was laying points on the road, I
fade them. Now the Rams, I don't know why they
get so much respect in the Marcus are laying two
and a half at New Orleans. This feels like a
strong spot play for me. I'm going to fire on
New Orleans with the points at home.
Speaker 3 (27:54):
Your thoughts, Rams five and six, New Orleans four and seven.
Let's face it, this game they posted if they want to,
and they're gonna have to run the gamut too, actually,
if they want to both either want to get to
the playoffs. Yeah, situationally here, this is another one of
those games that boy, I don't know if I can
(28:15):
lay points with the Rams on the road, But I
just don't know if I can now listen if this
is the same team that came out of the gun
this year, Bang bang with two big victories and giant points.
I think they want forty four to nineteen or something
like that. In Dallas week two, and everyone was betting
to win the Super Bowl, So I mean, I wasn't
(28:36):
jumping on that train so quick. But I was surprised
by New Orleans and I said, Wow, look at this
Derek Carr offense to win this good. I was like, wow,
this team actually does look pretty good. But then again,
I thought Dallas was probably a little bit better than
they were, so looking at it now, you know, they
kind of revealed itself that Dallas was not as good
even though they did win. Today. I can't I can't
(28:58):
bet the Rams on the road the situation, and there's
a couple plus three minus twenties out there here in
town the wins stations. I'm looking. I would lean towards
towards the Saints at home in the situation. They may
even need the game a little bit more than the Rams,
even though they both need the game.
Speaker 2 (29:15):
Last thing, crack, we got about a minute. Folks from
around the country listen to the show. Maybe some are
planning to come to Vegas for the holidays. See a show,
have a little nach, favorite beverage, stay at a hotel, whatever,
give it the folks some TIFs and dos, and don't.
Speaker 3 (29:29):
Well, you know what, when you come to Vegas, you
always like you should have a plan. You should have
a battle plan when you come to town. Don't just come
here and then start making decisions when you come here.
If you listen, if you're not drinking, if you're coming here,
just be with the family and have a good time.
Rent the car, not a bad idea. Car rubles aren't
that much here. Rent the car and you can go
from place to place to place and it'll be less
(29:50):
money than spending money on ubers and taxis, that's for sure,
and time consuming. Who time is money? So and if
you want something that actually is a low budget thing
that I loved doing, I still my nieces were just
here we went. I love going to the Pinball Hall
of Fame on the Strip. It's all different games from
when we were a kid back in the thirties and
forties up until current time. Great place to go. Just
(30:12):
grab a bunch of quarters, five ten bucks. We'll have
a great time there. And you know you also, maybe
you want to go downtown checking out look at the
old you know, the old place downtown where that's where
it all started. Now people just think that the Las
Vegas Strip with maybe bugsy single with a flamingo. No downtown,
just to walk downtown and if you're just coming out
without the family, you always want to check out like
(30:33):
the Circus Sports Book. It's so cool when you walk
into something like that. It's like seeing Notre Dames Field
for the first time in person, like wow, you know, yeah,
it's pretty cool.
Speaker 2 (30:44):
Hey, Bud, always a pleasure. We'll see you soon. Thanks
so much. Keep up the great work and I'm proud
to know you man.
Speaker 3 (30:51):
Hey, thank you, Thank you very much, buddy. Happy holidays, Tree.
You look forward to speaking to you again.
Speaker 2 (30:56):
Thanks. That is Bill Crackman Krakenberger, a legend. We go
back a long way. He's connected. I swear to guy.
This guy knows more people in the Pope, and you
know he's in demand, certainly on the network and on
other networks around the country. Coming up, you know, this
college football playoff I'm in. I'm all about it. You're
(31:17):
going from you know, three playoff games to eleven and
you've got a twelve team field. But frankly, I think
there's only four teams that can win it. And then
later on the show will take some calls. Do you
like the format? Is it working for you? Is it flawed?
What do you you know? Hate seven to seven, nine
and nine on Fox? But coming up, I won't tot you.
Just stay the four teams and I think they can
(31:38):
win it and give you my two cents on this tournament.
I'm Bernie Frattle Whore, come to you live from Las
Vegas Fox Sports Radio Tirack dot Com Studios, sitting in
for Ben Maller. So keep it locked. You're listening to
the Ben Maller Show on Fox Sports Radio. I am
not Bill Miller. I am Bernie Fratto. I'm in for
Ben Maller and we hope you'll stay with us. Three
(32:00):
am Pacific, six am Eastern. And if you don't, your
first in line for a friend of lobotomy. And on
that note, I am Bernie Friddle. Come to your line
from the Las Vegas Fox Sports Radio TIREC dot com studios,
sitting in for Ben Maller. Yes, by the way, talk
to the crack man if you if you do come
to Vegas. Two words money management. You know, guard your
bank roll. You don't have to. You don't have to
(32:22):
piss it all away. And I will tell people who
bet people also, they always want to bet a little
to make a lot, bet a little to make a
little more. I don't believe Neil and the Haystack bets
hit very often. You know the Vegas started with one casino.
Remember that every year they get nicer chandeliers. I don't
like to shooting Bebi's at the moon bets. I'll give
(32:43):
you an example. Back in August, one Better walked into
the Draft King sportsbook and wagered one hundred dollars on
Kent State can't state they're in Ohio, by the way,
they're in the MAC to win the College Football Playoff.
The book generously gave them ten thousand to one odds
before the season, so that Better should Kent State won
(33:07):
the national championship this year. One hundred dollars bet would
bring back one million dollars. That's not a very good
Austin Power's voice, is it. But you know what I
was trying to do there, Better would have won one
million dollars. Came close. Kent State didn't win a single
game this year. They finished with an oh to twelve record,
(33:28):
and they were outscored by a total of three hundred
and sixty two points. And how was your day? So
one of the things that want to get into a
little bit later, you'll actually get into it now. Look
the college football playoff. Remember we've got a twelve team
playoff this week this year, and uh, there's only a
(33:49):
handful of games for each program, So the races on
teams just have a couple of chances to boost their resume,
prove they belong in the field. They want a chance
at the national championship. I ever liked the playoff last year.
I called it the four team made for TV Invitational
tournament because you could win your conference and not get in.
How stupid is this? There are four spots and there
(34:10):
are five power conferences, so you could go undefeated, win
your conference and not get in. Insert your own Florida
State comment now, And I get it. Their quarterback went down,
so they were penalized for that, and there's a clause,
you know, injury clause that the committee chose to exercise.
But having said that, this year, if the same thing
would have happened, at least Florida State would have gotten in,
(34:33):
they would have been decided on the field. But there's
still other arguments. Is a three loss Alabama team better
than a one loss Indiana team? You know Indiana. They
said there were strength to schedules one hundred and six.
Alabama's eleventh. The SEC has a holier now attitude. Look,
I think there's only four teams that can win this
(34:53):
damn thing. They maybe twelve in it, and these are
the four. I believe Oregon. If you have watched Ohio State,
they're more and more impressive each week, but they can't
beat the number one team in the country because they
launch the team who's number one in the country. Oregon
is undefeated. They've answered every challenge, they check every box.
(35:14):
They were off this Saturday, so finally they had a
bye week, the latest bye week after like ten straight
games eleven straight games, just about and they're getting ready
for the Big Ten Championship game after their matchup with
Washington this weekend. So look, whatever rest they can get
is optimal. I think you're going to see Oregon deep
(35:35):
into January. What's interesting is I expect them to be
in the Big Ten Championship game in Indianapolis against Ohio
State a rematch, and it would not surprise me if
Ohio State got them, then they'll both make the playoffs,
and then they could even meet for a third time.
Who knows, but Oregon is going to be an incredibly
tough out to win it. The other three teams are
(35:58):
in this order. Ohio State. Here's what you gotta love
about Ohio State. They have answers everywhere you get into matchup,
style games, playoff games, championship games, even Michigan Ohio State Saturday. Inevitably,
what's going to take place is you look for strength
versus weekness. You look at matchups and if you're going
to get into a spot where you have to make
adjustments and you need answers, Ohio State has more than
(36:22):
just a fastball. They got every pitch in the repertoire.
You saw what they did the Indiana beat him thirty
eight to fifteen. A lot of times in college football
you just see teams try to rely on what they're
best at. They just here, we are stop it if
you can great, not too bad, too bad, too sad.
We wouldn't want to be aesia that's not always going to
be there though. See, that's what happens. You establish a
(36:43):
game plan and then the other guy puts together a
game plan, and the game plan that you put together
starts to fall apart and you got to adjust. Well,
nobody is doing that better than Ohio State. They have
more answers. They can do a lot of different things
to beat you at their top end. Offensively, they've shown
over the course of the year they can douced it
on anything. All right, Will Howard, I know he had
(37:03):
his detractors in Kansas State, but when he's good, he
can be very good. Matter of fact, last week against
Indiana one of his best most efficient games is a Buckeye.
Their wide receiver corps incredible. I love that they can
run the ball when they need to. They ran the
ball very well when they needed to against Penn State,
and they threw the ball all over the place against Indiana.
Then defensively, they're improving every week. They've got answers on
(37:27):
that side of the ball as well. It's not a
team that has just one system that you can exploit
or weaknesses that you can exploit if you just attack
that one thing. The Buckeyes adjusted since that game at
Oregon and they almost beat Oregon in Oregon. Ohio State
brought so much pressure last week in Indiana against their
quarterback Curtis Rourke. They only allowed fifteen points in just
one hundred and fifty one total yards. This is a
(37:48):
team that was undefeated. Indiana had been killing teams and
a lot of that was on the first series and
then laid on the touchdown drive. So frankly, Ohio State
really stifled him. Texas Texas just wins, and they have
two quarterbacks. I'm not sure about their starting quarterback, Quinn
Ewers health. He had to play through an ankle injury
and he'll He's supposed to be fine against Texas A
(38:09):
and M, but we'll see. But if he God forbid
something happened, your arch Manning steps in. He's more than capable.
So Texas, Oregon and Ohio State the fourth team that
I think could win. At Georgia, they're still dangerous. They're
nine and two. I get it. When they're at their best,
they can win a national championship. That's the thing of
(38:30):
all the teams. If Georgia brings their best on that day,
and you bring your best, Georgia's best might be better.
But they're still nine to two. They're going to play
the winner of Texas Texas A and M. And should
Georgia lose and have a three loss team, Nick Saban said,
if there's any three loss team that might find their
way into the playoffs, it could be Georgia depending on
what else happens. You don't want to penalize the team
(38:51):
to get into the SEC championship game. You don't want
to reward a team though that has three losses. I'll
tell you who not to reward. Forget Penn State. Great,
you get a little gutsy win at Minnesota. James Franklin
gets down to the one against Ohio State, four players.
They don't give it to Tyler Murray. Once Penn State
is Vugezi, they're gonna get in the playoffs most likely,
and they may win a game I don't know that
(39:14):
may get a home game. Don't like them, Notre Dame.
I just can't trust. We'll see how they look against
USC Saturday. I know they're physical, the more people realize.
They may be more talented the more people realize. But
we'll see what they do when they get on the
field with the big boys in a neutral same with Tennessee.
Tennessee is a very good team, but they're just inconsistent.
(39:34):
I'm not even gonna mention Miami, Indiana or SMU. I
don't think they can win it. So you might have twelve,
but I think only four can win it. Coming up,
we're gonna talk some NBA with my guy, Mark Medina.
And there's always news in the NBA, even little Brownie,
maybe even little Caitlin Clark in the NBA. Huh, we'll
chop it up. Coming up, Keep it locked. You're listening
to the Ben Maler Show. Bernie Frodle is sitting in
