Speaker 1 (00:00):
Everybody, It's Brian. No lots going on the show. We've
got the Lakers getting swept four straight games, l L
l l NA, Kola Jokicchen, the Nuggets moving on hot
knife through Butter Lebron. Is he gonna retire? No, no, no,
he just likes the attention. But a lot of non
(00:21):
basketball stuff as well, a lot of NFL news Thursday night,
flex scheduling, emergency quarterbacks. So we got a lot to
get to. Hopefully you enjoy the podcast and thanks for
stopping by.
Speaker 2 (00:35):

Speaker 3 (01:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 4 (01:04):
Oh what's going on, everybody? So we gotta sweep.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
We have got to sweep Lakers audio audio, smoochachos as
the Nuggets moving on over here.
Speaker 4 (01:17):
Lots lots of layers.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
We will start with the losing locker room momentarily, we
are broadcasting live from the tirack dot com studios. Tirerack
dot com will help get you there, an unmatched selection,
fast free shipping, free road hazard protection, and over ten
thousand recommended installers. Tyrack dot com the way tire buying
should be. So the Lakers, they led by fifteen points
(01:41):
at halftime, big lead. Things were looking great. Lebron thirty
one first half points. He even had a pass that
went in from three. That's how well things were going.
Lebron had twenty one points in the first quarter alone,
and he was passing the ball to a teammate and
it just line drive went right in from three. Thanks
(02:03):
for clicking up. By fifteen, looks like the Lake Show.
They're gonna get a game. And then the third quarter
happened and well didn't go the Lakers' way. Nuggets outscored
the Lakers thirty six to sixteen in the third quarter alone,
and Denver holds on. They win by two points, one
thirteen to one eleven. It's the first sweep for the
(02:26):
Nuggets in their franchise history. Now, Lebron, let's start with
the good. We'll start with the good, and then we'll
weave our way to the critical slash negative if you will.
But the good side of this, Lebron had a great game.
He had forty points, stuffed the stat sheet, ten boards,
nine assists, played all but four seconds of the game.
(02:51):
That's right, all but four seconds. Lebron was on the floor,
and I don't think the four seconds helped him out
tremendous in terms of being well rested. There are a
couple of times they call it walking the dog. That's
been happening way more often in the NBA this season,
where you just let the ball roll up the court
(03:13):
before you touch the ball and the game clock and
the shot clock start moving. Sometimes it's the game clock
is moving. But in any event, toward the end of
the game, Lebron.
Speaker 4 (03:23):
Was walking the dog. And I forget who said it.
Speaker 1 (03:27):
It was either Stan van Gundy, sorry, Jeff van Gundy
or Mark Jackson. They were like, you can get an
extra time out that way, and he needed one. But listen,
Lebron played great, forty points, nearly a triple double, one
assist away from a triple double. It's not on him now.
He only scored nine points in the second half. This
(03:48):
has been a theme where Lebron is running low. He's
running on fumes toward the end of games, especially you
saw it at altitude in Denver game two, running on fumes.
I'm not you know, pointing two fingers at the guy
like it's Lebron's fault, Like he's thirty.
Speaker 4 (04:06):
Eight years old.
Speaker 1 (04:08):
He dropped forty points, nearly a triple double, so I'm
not gonna crush the guy.
Speaker 4 (04:11):
I'm just pointing out.
Speaker 1 (04:13):
He had thirty one in the first half, nine points
in the second half, and it came down the Lakers
needed a bucket late.
Speaker 4 (04:21):
They went to Lebron. There are only a.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
Couple of seconds left on the shot clock. He had
to force one up, hit the side of the backboard.
It was a tough look. I mean, you just had
to get a shot up. It was a desperation shot
didn't go down. Then the Lakers got to stop. They
had a chance, had a chance to tie it or
win the game. They were down by two four seconds
left and they go to Lebron. He drives to the
(04:47):
bucket and he gets doubled and he had to try
to force a shot up. But Jamal Murray great help defense,
got his hand on the ball and that was it.
Shot didn't didn't go down, and the Lakers they're gone,
swept four games.
Speaker 4 (05:02):
Now we get to this.
Speaker 1 (05:06):
One more on the positive side, and then we were
weave our way to the legacy argument here because on
the same day that Carmelo Anthony retired, Carmelo walks away
officially after nineteen seasons. He's the ninth leading scorer all
time in NBA history. So he made it official on Monday.
(05:27):
Carmelo's in the same draft class as Lebron James and
so that has to be pointed out where if you
go back to that two thousand and three draft class,
you had Lebron Goo number one, Darko Milicic goes number two,
and he's just sandwiched in between greatness like Hall of
(05:47):
Famers Galore. Number three is Carmelo, four is Chris Bosh,
Number five is Dwayne Wade. So think about that. Dwayne
Wade had an outstanding career. He retired in twenty nineteen.
D Wade's been gone for four years now. Carmelo Anthony
made it official on Monday, and on that same day,
(06:11):
Lebron went out there and he dropped forty points, nearly
had a triple double in an NBA playoff game.
Speaker 4 (06:18):
It is.
Speaker 1 (06:19):
It's pretty remarkable that Lebron is still playing at this
level when Carmelo has retired and d Wade retired four
years prior, and look Carmelo his last team, he was
with the Lakers. Carmelo is not if he I'll put
it this way, if Carmelo had a forty point game
(06:39):
along with ten rebounds nine assists in the playoffs for
the Lakers, he would still be on the Lakers. Okay,
that's the way it works. So you got to give
Lebron some roses where instead of comparing Lebron now to
Lebron at his peak, look at Lebron compared to the
other guys in his draft. Compare Lebron to guys that
(07:02):
are similar to his age or players from the past
that were that old. That has to be taken into account.
There's no doubt about it now. If we look more
critically here. Before the game, there was something that Michael
Wilbond said that I didn't agree with at all. I
think Wilbond does a tremendous job, but he said before
(07:25):
the game that if Lebron got swept, it wouldn't impact
his legacy whatsoever. Not one bit. I totally disagree. Let
me ask you a question. If the Lakers came back
from a three to zero deficit to win the series
against the Nuggets, would that have impacted Lebron's legacy? Of
(07:48):
course it would have, of course, So how can getting
swept not impact the legacy whatsoever? And look, I understand,
let's be as reasonable as possible over here. Understand that
those two things are not on the same level. If
Lebron came back from a three to oh deficit, that
(08:08):
would be historic, right. No team has ever done that
in the history of the NBA. So getting swept isn't
as historic, right. There have been plenty of sweeps in
NBA history. It's not on the same level as coming
back from a three to zero deficit.
Speaker 4 (08:28):
I understand that.
Speaker 1 (08:30):
But you can't tell me that getting swept doesn't have
some significance.
Speaker 4 (08:36):
There's some significance here. The way I look at it
is this.
Speaker 1 (08:40):
I'm not gonna do a full blown Jordan v. Lebron
breakdown because I'm sick of it too. I'm tired of
it too, but this just has to be said. I'll
give it the cliffs notes version. Lebron is the guy
with fewer rings than Jordan. Okay, if it was reverse, right,
(09:01):
Lebron he's got four rings, Jordan has six. If that
was reversed, Lebron just gets swept here. But Lebron's the
guy with six rings, Jordan's the guy with four rings.
Then it becomes more of a footnote. But when Lebron
(09:21):
is the guy who's chasing Jordan in the rings category,
getting swept matters. It absolutely does. And with Lebron being
four and six in the finals, that just doesn't land
the same way as six and zero.
Speaker 4 (09:39):
It doesn't.
Speaker 1 (09:40):
And one of those four rings was a bubble ring,
and I'm just I'm not gonna take all credit away
from the Lakers and Lebron for winning that one. But
no team benefited from the months off before the bubble
like the Lakers did, and the lack of traveling. Think
about it, they beat the Nuggets in the Western Conference finals.
(10:02):
If they've got to travel, if this is a normal season,
they gotta go play in Denver.
Speaker 4 (10:08):
At altitude I don't know. I don't know. So that's
the thing.
Speaker 1 (10:13):
The bubble thing is different, and we don't know for
sure how it would have gone down had it been
a normal NBA postseason.
Speaker 4 (10:23):
So again, I'm not taking all.
Speaker 1 (10:24):
Credit away, but it's he's got four rings and one
was in the bubble, and you got to take into
account the special circumstances. There's a middle ground there between
not taking away all credit but not giving full credit.
There's somewhere in between right there. But the point is
getting swept. It's just another chapter in the book of
(10:47):
Lebron not being better than Jordan. That's the bottom line.
I mean, you just cut right to the chase on
that one, because you look at Jordan. I mean, look,
Ordan's a nine time All Defensive first team guy. Lebron
was there five times. Jordan led the league in scoring
(11:07):
ten times. I think about that. I know Lebron is
the all time leading scorer, but you look at this.
Lebron is a scoring compiler. I mean, that's just that's
gonna sound like just straight hater logic.
Speaker 4 (11:26):
It isn't.
Speaker 1 (11:27):
Lebron is a scoring compiler. Lebron led the league in
scoring one time. Jordan led the league in scoring ten times. Okay,
Lebron just played longer. Jordan retired once in the middle
of his championship run. He retired for three years later
in his career. So you've got Jordan playing fifteen seasons,
(11:50):
Lebron is in his twentieth. You know, Jordan led the
league in scoring for seven straight years, and the only
years he didn't lead it in that span is when
he was retired for.
Speaker 4 (12:03):
A year and a half.
Speaker 1 (12:04):
He picked up where he left off and led the
league for three more years. So you had ten of
twelve seasons and the only two that he didn't lead
the league in scoring he was retired for a season.
Speaker 4 (12:17):
And a half. It's insane.
Speaker 1 (12:20):
So no, Lebron didn't have a better career. Now, this
is the part, and this is what I hate about
the whole side by side comparison is what does Jeff
van Gundy say. I think he's just quoting someone. He says,
comparison is the thief of joy. It is so true.
(12:41):
It is because what I hate so much about that
side by side Lebron has had a secondary career to Jordan.
Jordan has had a better career. That doesn't mean that
Lebron is small potatoes. Lebron is one of the all
time greats in NBA history.
Speaker 4 (12:59):
He has had a phenomenal career. There's nothing wrong with
being shy a bit from Jordan like this.
Speaker 1 (13:09):
I just feel like we've missed out on so much
of Lebron's career because a lot of us are sitting
there with a scowl on our face and our arms folded,
like not as good as Jordan, noep, not as good
as Jordan. I think we missed out on a lot
of enjoyment. You just sat there and enjoyed Lebron's career.
There is a lot to enjoy. It was a lot
(13:30):
of moments and it's still not done. That's the crazy thing.
He's thirty eight years old and just dropped forty points,
ten boards, and nine assists in a playoff game.
Speaker 4 (13:40):
That's remarkable.
Speaker 1 (13:42):
But the stuff I rattled off can't be just cast aside.
Jordan had a better career. Jordan's a better player. That
dude is an absolute killer. What it mattered most undefeated
in all those finals appearances, all those scoring titles, all
those team all defensive teams. I just know Lebron great,
(14:06):
great career, and it's not done yet, But it doesn't
stack up to the goat just a little shy.
Speaker 4 (14:12):
We got a lot more to get to here with
the Nuggets.
Speaker 1 (14:17):
Oh yeah, by the way, the Nuggets moving on to
the finals, right, Like, I still feel like this team,
they might end up winning it all and it'll just
be like, ah, there it is, uh Yo kitchen, jamal
and yay they win, and hey, are the Lakers gonna
get Kyrie Irving? Is that what's gonna happen? Over They
(14:38):
still get overlooked, man, they still And look, I might
be guilty of that as well. I just gave you
an opening monologue, and I would say, if you do
a pie chart, ninety five percent was Lebron slash Lakers.
Five percent was a mention of hey yo kitchen, the
Nuggets first sweep, you know, like that's the way it goes.
(15:01):
They're overlooked, but it works for them. I would say
that's the silver lining. It works for the Nuggets that
they are not front page news. They are feeding off
of that, and so they've embraced the underdog role and
I think that has a part. That's part of the
(15:21):
reason why they are in the finals. But shout out
to yok It's tremendous. Another triple double. He's been sensational.
His eighth of this postseason alone, He's dropped eight triple
doubles just in these playoffs. He's playing it an insane level.
And the Nuggets moving on. If you told me before
(15:41):
this series, I thought the Nuggets would win. But if
you told me they'd win in a sweep, I would say, a.
The Lakers don't get one game. They don't get one,
So hats off to Denver. They played tremendous. They get
nine days off before Game one of the finals, and
we'll see, we'll see if the Celtics have any pride
whatsoever and get a game. Because if the Celtics do
(16:05):
and they extend that series, that could help out the
Nuggets a bit more. That's kind of an interesting discussion too.
We'll get to that a little bit later. If the
Nuggets had it their way, would they prefer Miami wins
Game four on Tuesday night and they sweep, or would
you rather that the Heat have a couple more games
(16:28):
and maybe they're a bit more tired for the finals.
Speaker 4 (16:31):
I don't know what their answer would be, Honestly, I
don't know.
Speaker 1 (16:34):
I think they would just shrug their shoulders and be like,
who cares, We'll play them regardless however it shakes out.
Speaker 4 (16:41):
We'll play them, all right.
Speaker 1 (16:42):
We got a lot to get to a lot of
ball in the show tonight, and approval from the NFL
that is I think pretty interesting. What it means for
this season and potentially next season. We will get to
that right around the corner. I'm Brian no and for

Speaker 4 (18:23):
Are you a karaoke guy?
Speaker 5 (18:25):
Uh? No?
Speaker 1 (18:27):
How many times have you saying anything karaoke style in
your life?
Speaker 5 (18:31):
Once?
Speaker 4 (18:32):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (18:33):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (18:33):
Remember what it was?
Speaker 5 (18:35):
I believe it was bulls on parade by that age
against the machine.
Speaker 1 (18:41):
That's not the easiest thing with the verses, you know,
Zach's moving on that.
Speaker 4 (18:46):
Yeah, yeah, he's Well, would you rate yourself on that?
Speaker 1 (18:49):
I asked because Roberto is playing back in black from
ac DC, and I'm just thinking I've only done a
couple of karaoke songs in my life as well. I'm
the worst I've known. I can only sing one note,
whatever note that is. I have no range. It's like
the same note the whole time. But I feel like
if you were to do an ac DC song, that
(19:09):
could mask some of your general horrible singing ability, you
know what I mean. I of you just kind of
do your impression, and I think that would hide a
lot of your lack of range.
Speaker 4 (19:21):
You think that's a legitimate thought there, Eddie.
Speaker 5 (19:26):
I don't know, thinking about singing like was it's it?
Brian what's his name? Wilson? First? What's the name of
the elite singer for.
Speaker 4 (19:35):
The Yeah, I don't know, have to check that out.
Speaker 5 (19:37):
Anyway, it's kind of like him an Axel Rose. If
you think about singing like them, it hurts your throat.
Speaker 4 (19:43):
Yeah, Brian Johnson, R Johnson Sorry, yeah, yeah, Yeah. Maybe
I'm wrong, Maybe I'm dead. Maybe that's the worst one
to go with.
Speaker 5 (19:54):
I mean, if you're trying to imitate them, if you're
just doing your own thing, I guess it doesn't matter.
Speaker 1 (19:58):
Yeah, you just get up there and you're like back,
getting back. But it's supposed to be your best, Yeah.
Speaker 5 (20:04):
But it's supposed to be. I mean, I've only went
to karaoke night once many years ago, and the worst
thing is when someone is really serious about it. Oh yeah,
it's supposed to be awful. It's supposed to make people laugh.
It's supposed to make an ass of yourself. To me,
I think that's what it's supposed to be. You're not
auditioning for American Idol, so no, I hear you. There
(20:28):
was the one I went to. There was a guy
there singing that American Pie song. You know that's oh
that's seventy song. It's a lasts like fifteen minutes. Yeah,
and he was like it was his it was his
moment and he was going for it, and everyone just
felt weird. It was really awkward, and it was way
too long, and it would just just totally ruined the experience.
Speaker 1 (20:49):
I hear you, man, I think that, uh, karaoke is
a lot like take Me out to the ballgame if
you were about to sing that. You know, the Cubs
have had that tradition for a long time and they'll
get these you know, actors or musicians whoever it is,
to sing take Me out to the ballgame. And the
way you sing it is if you're like drunk in
a bar, you're not supposed to actually sing it. You're
(21:12):
just supposed to just wail and like take me out.
That's all it has to be. I think that's what
karaoke is.
Speaker 4 (21:18):
Also.
Speaker 1 (21:20):
Just start wailing, you know, they'll be serious about it.
I'm with you on that, Eddie, absolutely with you on that.
We need to have karaoke night when I fill in
for Ben one of these nights.
Speaker 4 (21:33):
You know, I think we could get some.
Speaker 5 (21:34):
I've sung more on the air than I have in
a karaoke bar. And if we were going to have
karaoke night, then my money would be on Roberto to
be the winner of that, because he is uh, he
sings a lot here in the building, usually when he's
in the bathroom, like likes the acoustics in there.
Speaker 4 (21:55):
I'm sure does he have the voice of an angel?
Speaker 5 (21:59):
Dude, wouldn't. I wouldn't go that far.
Speaker 4 (22:01):
I men spend the most lives in.
Speaker 8 (22:05):
Paradise, best spending most lies living.
Speaker 4 (22:10):
In the gangsters Paradise.
Speaker 5 (22:12):
A little simple.
Speaker 1 (22:14):
I mean that sounds pretty angelic to me. I think
that's top shelf, very well done. I just love how
you're like, you know what, give me bowls on parade.
Speaker 4 (22:27):
I'll go for that. I love that.
Speaker 5 (22:29):
And to be fair, I was you were three sheets?
Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, it helped a lot.
Speaker 1 (22:36):
Yeah that's good man, that's very good. We'll get to
the NFL here momentarily, and the militia wants to check in.
We will get to the militia as well. First of
Eddie Garcia to spin us around the sporting landscape. What's
going on, mister Garcia?
Speaker 5 (22:49):
Well, once again, our little chatter has cut into my
time of preparing my rest of my update. What I
usually do is I have I have a little your
major stories with the top of the hour, and then
I and I fill in the rest. You know, the
baseball scoreres that kind of thing.
Speaker 4 (23:07):
I could help you. I could help your update on
the fly.
Speaker 5 (23:10):
Okay, yeah, that sounds good.
Speaker 4 (23:12):
Just go to me. I'll be your lifeline.
Speaker 5 (23:13):
All right. Well, we'll start with the NBA playoffs. We
had Game four of the Western Conference Finals where the
Nuggets beat the Lakers in LA one thirteen to one eleven.
I'm not sure if that's why Justin Cooper is not here,
but I'm sure he's not happy about that situation, especially
since the Lakers had a fifteen point halftime lead and
Lebron James was ridiculous in the first half with thirty
(23:33):
one points about the second half was a bit of
a different story and Nikola Jokicic also doing his thing
eighth triple double this postseason with thirty points, fourteen rebounds
and thirteen assists, and Lebron Well I guess he used
it all up in the first half because it only
had nine points in the second half. He did finish
with forty to ten, which is certainly a nice stat
line for the game, but again, it just didn't seem
(23:55):
to have it in the second half. And Denver gets
the victory to sweep the Lakers out of the playoffs.
First ever playoffs sweep in Denver Nuggets history, and they
came at a good time as they have advanced to
the NBA Finals for the first time in franchise history.
NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs, you had Game three the Eastern
Conference Finals, another one goal game between the Carolina Panthers
(24:16):
and the Carolina Panthers. The Carolina Hurricanes and the Florida Panthers.
All three games so far decided by one goal, but
they've all been won by Florida. They win this one
won nothing. Sam Ury Harthy loan goal on the power
play in the second period. Goalie Sergei Bobrovski thirty two
saves in the shutout, and Florida now as a commanding
three oh series advantage, they can close it out with
a home win in Game four on Wednesday.
Speaker 1 (24:38):
What's up with these conference finals in the three to
zero leads and unreal?
Speaker 4 (24:43):
NBA, n A, and NHL.
Speaker 5 (24:45):
Yeah, so far, so far only you've got what eight
teams and only four teams have won game so far
in all the series. Yeah, crazy NFL news. I'm sure
you'll get into this at some point, but by a
vote of twenty four to eight, owners approved flex scheduling
for Thursday Night Football on a trial basis. Now, this
will only happen during weeks thirteen through seventeen, and only
(25:07):
matchups eligible will be flexed will require twenty eight days notice.
So I guess it's going to help some fans out
if they want to travel for these games. And they're
making plans only a maximum of two times per season,
so they're trying it out see if it will work.
But interesting, interesting idea for the NFL. I'm now to
(25:28):
Brian Know for some more.
Speaker 1 (25:30):
Oh yeah, how about this Tom Brady, He's reached an
agreement to buy a steak in the Raiders.
Speaker 5 (25:36):
Ooh, I don't know that's yeah, Robertos, I don't know
that that's you know, Tuck Roll and all that.
Speaker 4 (25:42):
I know it, Martiall team owner of the Raiders.
Speaker 1 (25:46):
He also has bought a steak in the WNBA's Las
Vegas aces that was back.
Speaker 5 (25:51):
That's certainly a good, great little note there to pass along.
Speaker 4 (25:55):
Yep.
Speaker 1 (25:55):
So he's you know, he's building the portfolio with Vegas
franchises over there. Brady partial team owner right there, minority
owner Tom Brady the goat. And how about this, Eddie,
I like this a little tech team update. I don't
have the same cadence as you, and I have the
same sense of timing as you.
Speaker 4 (26:15):
Very fluid. Me not so much.
Speaker 1 (26:17):
But the Green Bay, the city of green Bay will
host the twenty twenty five NFL Draft.
Speaker 5 (26:23):
Have you ever been to Green Bay, Brian?
Speaker 1 (26:25):
I have, Yeah, I went there a handful of years ago.
I've been to most of the NFL stadiums. I'm an
NFL junkie. I went there. It's kind of funny story.
I went there on the night of my birthday. I
was born on November fourth. This is years ago. I'm
not sure what year it was, but I was there
with my mom My mom and I went there to
Green Bay and it was the game where Jay Cutler
(26:47):
was out, so Josh McCown was the quarterback of the Bears.
It was a Bears Packers game, and it was the
game that Aaron Rodgers got hurt. I think he broke
his collar bone. So it turned out to be Josh
McCain versus Seneca Wallace, Bears v. Packers and that tilt.
But you got to make it to Lambeau, man, just
(27:08):
have to.
Speaker 5 (27:08):
No, I've been to Lambeau and I thought it was
it was phenomenal. But just you know, these NFL drafts
that have been moved around a little bit yet Nashville
and then Kansas City this year Vegas, they kind of
have it in like a downtown area. You know, I
don't know that there is a downtown area. It is.
(27:28):
It is, you know, it is a quaint, but it's
it's it's how it's so weird because it's this huge
NFL stadium and there are some things around the stadium.
It's not like it's just but but there's also like neighborhoods, yeah,
like all all around it. Like we parked in somebody's
front yard for parking, and it's just, uh, I don't.
Speaker 4 (27:51):
Know, like kind of like Wriggly, right, Rigs in the
round a.
Speaker 5 (27:55):
Little bit, but Wrigley is a little bit more urban. Yeah,
this is a much more rural I just I don't
know how they how they're gonna do it. It must
be at They got to have it at the stadium,
because I don't know where else they would.
Speaker 7 (28:07):
Have because there's yeah, we got it at John's house. Yeah,
come on, we got brots. Yeah, we got frats on
the grin.
Speaker 5 (28:19):
But that's that's actually I say that because we parked
in a guy's yard for twenty bucks or whatever and
he was grilling brots and he gave us a broad
which is also awesome. It was aweso.
Speaker 1 (28:28):
Yeah, you're right, though, Eddie. You go to most NFL
stadiums and it's busy. You're in the heart of downtown.
There's a lot going on, big buildings, the whole thing.
Speaker 4 (28:38):
Not Green Bay. It is like I'm from South Bend.
It's a lot like going to a Notre Dame game.
Speaker 1 (28:43):
South Bend's a tiny city, and you do you'll park
in some dudes, you know, like park in his yard
and you walk to the stadium.
Speaker 4 (28:52):
Yeah, it's a it's a different experience.
Speaker 1 (28:54):
But you watch how many thousands of people will be
there in Green Bay in twenty five. It'll be in
Detroit next year being green Bay the following season. What
would you put the over under? I don't know what
they officially had in Kansas City.
Speaker 4 (29:10):
It was a lot.
Speaker 1 (29:11):
The numbers might have been, you know, spruced up just
a little bit. But what would you put the over
under at for attendance in Green Bay when twenty twenty
five rolls around.
Speaker 5 (29:23):
It's a very good question. Obviously, they filled the stadium
for the football games, and that's what is that?
Speaker 1 (29:29):
Like sixty Yeah, some I'd say between sixty and seventy
somewhere around there, I would guess.
Speaker 5 (29:35):
So it's clearly going to be at least that. And
I don't think they charged for we went. We went
to the draft in Vegas and they didn't that. Yeah, yeah,
I was there. I know we talked about this.
Speaker 4 (29:49):
We didn't meet up.
Speaker 5 (29:50):
I didn't know you were there. I didn't know you
were there. Well, I didn't know you were there until after.
But we talked about this. When you hosted shortly thereafter.
Speaker 1 (29:58):
Yeah, oh man, Yeah, I was there for the first round,
and I guess the the seated area, you know, like
the the close to the stage area, they were saying
some of those seats went for thousands of dollars.
Speaker 4 (30:10):
I was like, what, I know, that's what they said.
I don't know if that's true or not.
Speaker 5 (30:14):
No, we knew that that was an invite only thing.
They didn't charge for those seats. That was that was
teams got allocated a certain number of seats and they selected,
you know, because my wife is deep in with the
with the Chargers, so yeah, she knows that. All she
knew all those people that were in there, and they
were special season ticket holders things like that, don't No.
Speaker 1 (30:35):
It's funny is because I was standing in like the
general admission area and it was hot, yeah, high day,
its Vegas, you know, And I think I was starting
to see mirages at the end of the day because
I was looking through through the seated area and I'm like,
I think that's Brady Quinn and Jonas Knox over there
from Two Pros and a Cup of Joe and they've
got their little pad in the seated area. And then
(30:56):
I look closer, and I'm like, that's.
Speaker 4 (30:58):
Not them at all. I'm seeing things at this point.
Is h Yeah, it was a hot day.
Speaker 5 (31:02):
Do you have a few cocktails or something?
Speaker 4 (31:04):
No, I was. I was hurting, Eddie.
Speaker 1 (31:07):
I was on my feet for hours and hours and hours.
I know it sounds like first world problems, but I
had a couple of knee surgery, so my right kneed
is not like standing on concrete for that long.
Speaker 4 (31:19):
And I don't know.
Speaker 1 (31:20):
One of my feet was just killing me, dude, killing me.
I made it through, made it through, got there. It's
worth going at least one time. But you gotta go
with friends. You gotta make it a whole thing. I
was just rolling their solo. I met up with Lee
Robert de Lapped, the fourth Trusted Producer for a bit,
but otherwise I was just there with my new football friends.
(31:42):
As I would say at the draft, all let me
get to the militia here briefly. I'm sorry for making
you wait so long. Let's get to Uh. Poppy is
in San Diego, wants to check in. Let's hear some
picks from Poppy. Poppy, what's going on, Bud, You're on
Fox Sports Radio. What's going on Poppy got for it.
Are we gonna make some money with these picks.
Speaker 8 (32:03):
We're gonna make some money, bling bling, like always, everyone
loves sticking with copy those picks. And you know, there's
a lot of great games, especially in baseball. And I'm
really liking this game. And like in a couple of games,
the Sexast Rangers against the Pirates, and we're gonna pick
the Pittsburgh Pirates on the map because everyone's going with
the Rangers. And I really like Hill the pitcher, and
(32:23):
they're playing at home. Why not the least favorite team,
the Pittsburgh Pirates put them on the map. I really
love them, and we're gonna go with them. And there's
another game. Of course, this is a rivalry game. I know,
you guys baseball fans, you can like the Riberry Baltimore Orioles,
New York. You know Yankees, we got cool. I'm not
(32:45):
taking cool. We're going with the Baltimore Orioles or Red
Hot right now, we got bradish like why would why
would you bet against the Orioles? Right and uh there's
there's I know you guys want to hear my n
H NHL. All those people want to hear NHL poppy
has nothing to do with hockey. You have no idea,
(33:07):
but the Golden Knights. The Golden Knights aren't playing on
the two game winning streak against Dallas. We're gonna flip
the script here and we're gonna go with the Dallas Stars.
They're playing at home. They really need this game, and
they're gonna play tough, and they're gonna do it for
the silly city of Dallas in those stars. And we're
gonna make that bling bling with the Dallas Stars, guys,
and uh, you know, say the best for last, right,
(33:30):
I know you. We want to hear Padres because people
want to know about the Padres. Padres are doing horrible again.
Prodris doing horrible against the Washington Washington Nationals, two horrible teams.
Who do I take care. It's like taking a point flip.
We're gonna go with the Washington Nationals playing at home
with Gore against Starvash. I don't care, Darbash. We're going
(33:50):
with the Nationals. Fan, those are your picks with taking
with Bothy. We're gonna make that bling bling very nicely done, Bothy.
Speaker 4 (33:57):
I appreciate that.
Speaker 8 (33:58):
You know.
Speaker 1 (33:59):
Here's the thing things that I took out mainly from
that where he said everybody's betting on the Rangers, and
immediately I thought, who's everybody? Who are all these people
racing to the betting window. I got it on the
Texas Rangers. He's swinging to the other way. He's going
with the Pirates. The other thing, though, is I like
how he prefaced his general lack of hockey knowledge. And
(34:21):
that's fine, Listen, I'm in the same boat. But you
might be prone to thinking, well, I can't take this
guy's advice, right would I would suggest otherwise? I think
it's a lot like March madness. You know, sometimes it's
the person that's picking teams based on color of the teams.
Speaker 4 (34:40):
Or like what's the better nickname?
Speaker 1 (34:44):
And you're like, this person doesn't even watch college basketball,
yet you should be betting everything on what they have
to say. That's where I say Game three borderline lock
Dallas Stars. Just the way Poppy preface this.
Speaker 4 (34:57):
I don't watch hockey, I don't know hockey. I don't
know what I'm talking about. Go with the Dallas Stars.
Speaker 3 (35:02):
I'm in.
Speaker 4 (35:03):
I'm in on that.
Speaker 1 (35:05):
That's a solid rationale. Go with someone that is not
a junkie in breaking down analytically what might happen. I
just pick someone that's throwing darts up there, you know,
it's like sometimes that's the way to do it. Hey,

weird marriage right now, and a couple of examples as
(35:48):
to why I think that's the case.

Speaker 4 (36:46):
No, thank you, Eddie.
Speaker 1 (36:47):
Yeah, we touched on this for a second where Tom
Brady he's reached an agreement to buy a stake in
the Raiders, so he's now a minority odor when it
comes to the uh the Raiders for franchise, also the
Las Vegas Aces, so partial owner two times over Tom Brady,
and it is wild where you go back to the
(37:09):
tuck rule game and just for ten seconds here you
might want to close your ears. Raider fans compliments the CBS.
Speaker 4 (37:17):
Here you go.
Speaker 2 (37:17):
They are going to under two minutes review whether it's
an incomplete pass or a fumble.
Speaker 4 (37:22):
Reviewing and playing the quarterback far was going forward. Just
the worst rule ever in the NFL. I hated the time.
Speaker 3 (37:37):
That's so bad doesn't exist anymore, Brian, I.
Speaker 1 (37:39):
Did it shouldn't. It was such a stupid rule. It's
it still doesn't make any sense to me. If you
fumble the ball through the end zone the other team
automatically gets possession. That's a really stupid rule too, that
should be changed. But the tuck rule was just hideous.
But I was just thinking about this, like, put yourself
(37:59):
in the show use of a Raider fan for a second.
Speaker 4 (38:01):
That was such a painful loss.
Speaker 1 (38:04):
And now Tom Brady, who was on the field in
that game obviously, and he was the guy whose arm
was moving forward and then he was tucking the ball
and at the time the NFL considered that to be
an incomplete pass. It was just a brain dead rule.
But now he's the partial owner of the Raiders franchise.
Speaker 4 (38:27):
Think about that.
Speaker 1 (38:27):
If you're a diehard Patriots fan, that would be like
Eli Manning or David Tyree the helmet catch, they go
on to be partial team owners of the Patriots.
Speaker 4 (38:39):
He'd be like, this feels freaking weird. I don't like
this at all.
Speaker 1 (38:42):
Or how about Malcolm Butler, Remember he had the last
second interception against Russell Wilson and the Seahawks. What if
Malcolm Butler went on to be a partial team owner
of the Seahawks, He'd be like, what is going on
over here? That's how I would feel, So I would
imagine I'm a raider.
Speaker 4 (39:00):
Nation feels that way right now. It's a very weird marriage. Okay,
we'll go quick. We got about a minute. My good
friend Emmitt is over there in Olympia. Emmett, what's on your.
Speaker 9 (39:11):
Mind, Brian, know what's going on? How you doing?
Speaker 4 (39:14):
Good?
Speaker 3 (39:15):
Man?
Speaker 4 (39:15):
Everything's good?
Speaker 8 (39:16):
You?
Speaker 9 (39:17):
Oh, I'm doing great man? And you were talking about
karaoke earlier. And our guy the Trufa, as the on
couple calls him, Brandon Trufa is producing and Berno, I
don't know if you can do this right now because
how close you are the end of the hour. But
you got to hear Brandon singing the Autumn Wind. It's
very great, very great content.
Speaker 5 (39:37):
No, we don't have time for that.
Speaker 9 (39:40):
Brandon, play it next hour. I know you can probably
do it too. It Bright needs to hear it. But
about the Lakers, man really quickly, Lakers really quickly? Here
is I just think this is kind of like a
sweet you know, obviously a sweet but this whole Lebron
James preshcoffers is what interested me. I saw Brandon earlier,
is like, it's weird because is he gonna retire? Is
(40:03):
he gonna do it? And I wouldn't be shocked, And
I tweeted, is it Lebron just with playing us? Like, oh,
I could retire, I could do this right, I could
beat the Lakers. Four months later, it's October, and yep,
he's still a Laker.
Speaker 1 (40:15):
Exactly now, I hear you, And thanks for checking in, emmittt.
Very good stuff, concise to the point, very well done.
Might get some autumn wind a little bit later. I'm
curious about that. And also, it's not the end of
a career. It's the beginning of speculation, that's all
