Speaker 1 (00:00):
Oh, what is going on. Happy Wednesday morning to you.
I hope everything is going great for you. Okay, So
why doesn't the NBA handle trade requests like the NFL does.
A trade request in the NFL is mostly met with yeah, no,
(00:21):
we're not trading you. A trade request in the NBA
is often met with Okay, no problem, we'll get YadA here.
For the most part, that's how it goes. This trade
request from Micah Parsons, star pass rusher from the Dallas Cowboys,
he had this long post on X and went into
(00:43):
great detail of Hey, you know, my dad and I
grew up Cowboy fans. Unfortunately I don't want to be
here any longer. YadA YadA. Went into great detail, and
some of it makes a lot of sense where Jerry
Jones has made some statements publicly where it's just it's
just a stupid way to approach things when he's talking about,
(01:06):
you know, hey, Michael Parsons, he missed six games last season,
which wasn't even true. He missed four games last season,
and Mikeah took exception to that. So Jerry Jones has
done a terrible job handling this situation. And so I
can completely understand how a lot of it would rub
Michael Parsons the wrong way. I think it's recency biased
(01:28):
more than anything. I can understand you. You're ticked off,
you're not getting your money, get me out of here.
Some of that might be real. I think most of
it is just a negotiating tactic. That's your leverage. That's
what you're trying to do to get a deal done,
try to get it going. But the point, the first
part of this is the NFL oftentimes, so many times
(01:53):
a trade request has happened from the player and it's
met with this. Here's Jerry Jones.
Speaker 2 (01:59):
Jerry, are you considering trading Michael Parsons.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
I'm not, No, not not really no, not thinking about that.
They're a little more from Jerry Jones.
Speaker 3 (02:08):
Don't lose in sleepover. So just to be one thing
I would say to our fan, don't lose in sleepover.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
Okay, so as far as the negotiation goes, you know,
don't lose any sleep He's basically saying, don't don't freak
out like Michael Parsons is going somewhere else, like, just
don't lose any sleep over there. So again not taking
it seriously. Here's the head coach, Brian Schottenheimer, his thoughts on, uh,
does he expect Michael Parsons to be there?
Speaker 4 (02:35):
I expect Michael to be here.
Speaker 1 (02:37):
Okay, expects Michael to be even though he made this
trade request and went into great detail. Unfortunately, I don't
want to be here any longer, not buying any of it.
Then he's also detailing where he expects Mike gonna line
up this next season.
Speaker 5 (02:52):
We're still planning on moving Mike around and putting him
in all the spots that we see him and using
our fronts the way we want to see it.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
So like there's no teeth to this trade request at all.
Has absolutely no teeth to it at all. And and
the Cowboys are not freaking out like, oh, we better
get this deal done. We're not gonna have Micah Parsons.
They're like, yeah, settled down, everything's fine, don't lose any sleep.
(03:20):
We're not thinking of trading him. And shot He's like, actually,
you know, I'm thinking about where I'm gonna line him
up this next season. We'll have him a little bit
at you know, a linebacker, We'll have him at rush,
and well, you don't move him around a little bit here,
he's game planning with Micah like the furthest thing from
his mind is Micah not being there. And so that
(03:41):
to me is it's a huge difference between the way
the NFL handles these things and the way the NBA does.
I don't know why more NBA teams don't do what
NFL teams do. A star NBA player is like, I
want to be traded. Why don't more teams just say no, oh,
we're not trading you, Like you're too valuable to us.
(04:05):
We're not gonna get equal value, So no, that's not
on the table. Why don't they just say no? Now,
there have been times where star players will force their
way out, you know, and NBA teams buckle. I just
don't think NFL teams would buckle the same way that
NBA teams do. We've had stories where, you know, fat
(04:27):
James Harden, he was with Houston at the time, wanted
out and he was gaining all this weight and wasn't
even trying when he was out there on the court,
clearly forcing the rocket's hand, and they eventually buckled and
moved him. There was a Jimmy Butler has done this
a couple of times in Minnesota, most recently with Miami Heat.
(04:48):
We're just forcing his way out. He's getting kicked out
of practice, He's forcing his way out. It's going to happen,
and the organization just buckles and does it. I'm surprise,
and I wouldn't look at the two leagues as completely
polar opposites. I don't like, I don't know why a
team in the NBA wouldn't try to do this and
(05:11):
just say, hey, you know, we're not moving him. The
Cowboys haven't even said, well, we we appreciate where Mike's
coming from, we get it. Blah blah blah. They're just like, yeah, no,
not on the table, not thinking about trading him. And
there's just no teeth to this. You see Michaeh Parsons
at practice, still in his number eleven Cowboys Jersey. Nothing
(05:34):
quite says I'm out of here, like I'm still here.
That's like saying I'm out of this relationship. We are
freaking done. And then you like go to the cheesecake
factory with that person later that night. You know, it's
not saying you're out of here at all. So he's
not going anywhere. But you see this time and time
again in the NFL. You've seen it just in the
(05:56):
last year. Miles Garrett with the Browns. He requested a
trade and the next thing you know, he got this
huge new contract and he didn't go anywhere. The team
was like, no, we're not thinking about moving him. Same
thing with t Higgins with the Bengals. He requested a
trade and they gave him the money and he's still
(06:16):
a Cincinnati Bengal. I think it's gonna happen with all
three of these guys, Trey Hendrickson with the Bengals, Terry
McLaurin with the Commanders, and Micah Parsons with the Cowboys.
I think all three of those guys are gonna get
extensions and are still going to play for their current teams.
I don't see any of them moving on and going elsewhere.
(06:37):
And you could argue that, you know, when you think
of the NBA situations where some players request a trade,
maybe some of them would be appeased if they got
this huge new contract extension and they're like, you know what,
I'll stay, I'm not gonna go elsewhere. Yeah. Maybe, but
you know, as well as I do the batting average
(06:57):
right for trade requests from a players, especially stars, it's
a high batting average, they request a trade, they typically
get moved, and the NFL these teams are just like, yeah, no,
not like, listen to Jerry again.
Speaker 2 (07:12):
Jerry, are you considering trading Michaeh.
Speaker 1 (07:14):
Parsons?
Speaker 3 (07:14):
I'm not.
Speaker 1 (07:16):
Just come right out and say I'm not even thinking
about it.
Speaker 3 (07:18):
No.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
And now the other part of this is this is
so clunky from the Cowboys. It's so unnecessary and just
so dumb. It's like, I feel like I'm losing time
and energy with this whole thing. And I'm not even
a Cowboys fan. This whole thing is just obnoxious. They're
gonna pay Micah, it's gonna be a huge contract, and
(07:43):
they're gonna look back and be like, what was all
that about? What money did you save? What time and
effort did you gain? Like, where's the gain here? By
dragging this out and then giving a huge contract extension
to Micah Parsons. This is so unnecessary. The drama of
(08:04):
this hole back and forth is so avoidable. And the Cowboys,
yet again, I don't know if it's just for headlines,
it's for clicks, it's for attention. They love dragging this
out and paying more money than they would have to
had they extended the player earlier. It's so dumb and
now we get Hey, is Mica going to be ready
(08:27):
for the first game of the year against the Eagles?
Listen to this. This was earlier, I think on Tuesday.
Check this out.
Speaker 4 (08:33):
Getty confident he will be on the shiet against again.
Speaker 3 (08:36):
No, absolutely not. That has to a big part of
that is his decision. How about I know that.
Speaker 1 (08:44):
Okay, we don't know if he's going to be in
uniform against the Eagles. All right, makes some sense. Now
this is the part. Listen to this answer. This is
the clunkiest, most random answer from Jerry Jones. Just listen,
sit back and enjoy. Does he essentially need to reach
out to you?
Speaker 3 (09:00):
Again? If y'all are getting in the uh, what's in
the mind and what's in the said? Uh, this is
a good time. He's a subject matter where uh is
what it is? Is what it is and uh uh
we've we'll work through it or we will uh not
work through it.
Speaker 4 (09:20):
Hmm.
Speaker 1 (09:21):
Okay, right, it's a legitimate question like does he need
to reach out to you? And I don't know Jerry
just thought that he was asking something else. I guess,
but yeah, I would expect this to get worked out.
This is just the scenic route that's totally unnecessary. This
is the worst scenic route possible, you know what I mean.
(09:42):
Like if you're just sitting on the four oh five
in LA and you're like, I just don't want to
sit in traffic, Let's take the streets and instead of
taking the scenic route, and you're like, all right, let's
let's go to pH you know, let's go the long way.
Or they're like, I'm gonna take the scenic route, and
it's the worst. It's the worst idea ever. It's the
(10:03):
worst streets that it doesn't save you any time. The
stoplights are backed up like crazy. That's basically what the
cowboys are doing with this whole negotiation. It's the scenic
route that doesn't help at all. It actually delayed you
an hour longer on your commute, and it was much
more tedious, annoying, and just cost you that much more energy.
(10:26):
That's where they are. That's where they seem to always be.
But it's another chapter in the book of what should
have been avoided, but seldomly is. That's the cowboys, man,
that's how they get down again. They did this with
CD Lamb, with Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott, Zach Zach Martin,
(10:46):
Like they just drag it out and then give them
huge money. And you're like that that was pretty dumb.
That was dumb right there. And the cowboys are like, yeah, maybe,
but it's kind of fun, right and we're like, no,
it's that fun at Oh, it was really stupid. Actually,
what it was eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox?
Is your phone number? Now, Coop? Do we still have Bill?
(11:08):
Is he hanging out getting to his Dodger thought? I
want to get it.
Speaker 4 (11:12):
Let me check out. I might have called back, but
I don't think.
Speaker 1 (11:14):
Okay, let me see if Bill is there. Because Bill
called in to give his Dodger thoughts and we were
up against it at the end of the hour and
he just went, you know, with a little karaoke. Okay,
Bill is gone, no problem. Should we guess is Dodger thoughts?
Probably not. Probably shouldn't do that. All we do have
the high the play of the day, we should do
(11:36):
that because it's Dodger related. Let's time for the tire
rack play of the day. Let's do that.
Speaker 6 (11:41):
And Hener comes to the plate and this ball and
said hi in Dick the center failed way back in
gone a home run Taoscarnn his second of the game,
three run shot, and the Dodgers lean at nine to three.
Oh on a blast oscar.
Speaker 1 (12:01):
There you go. Pretty good call, I would say, not
bad at all. That's the way it sounded on five
seventy LA Sports Dodgers Radio Network. Yeah, very good, nice
job right there. For over forty years, ti rack has
been helping customers find the right tires for how, what
and where they drive, ship fast and free back by
(12:22):
free road hazard protection with convenient installation options like mobile
tire installation tire rack dot Com. The way tire buying
should be. All right, very good, very nice. All right,
we got we'll get to the militia here momentarily. Okay,
I see one of the regulars is ready to roll,
(12:43):
so we'll get to the militia here. On the other side. Also,
not an extensive thought here, but let's not act like
doing this is juggling steak knives. Can we please do that?
I'll tell you what that's all about. Coming up next.

(14:02):
to expresspros dot com. Yeah, so a quick thought here,
real fast. I'll make this a quick and painless all right,
we'll get to the militia here. But I saw a
couple of players in the NFL they're gonna be playing
in the preseason. And one caught my attention in particular.
That would be JJ McCarthy, Vikings quarterback. He's gonna play
(14:26):
in the preseason, get a few reps out there, don't
know how long he'll be on the field, but gonna
get a little bit of action. And I thought that
was interesting because he got hurt in the preseason, right,
That's how he lost his rookie season. Got hurt in
the preseason game last year. It didn't take a regular
season snap. So I like that Kevin O'Connell is not like,
(14:48):
oh no, this could happen again. Definitely, he's not gonna
touch the field during preseason. I don't know why we
tend to do this every single year. Look, I have
no issue actually young players getting on the field and
getting some reps in the preseason, even some of these
guys that are vets the Chiefs play mahomes Like for
(15:10):
anybody who's like, what's the point in preseason reps, it's
just really gonna make a difference. It's the same song
and dance every single year. And it's like, if there
was no value whatsoever, then why would the Chiefs play
any of their ones? Why they do play their ones?
(15:31):
They play mahomes. Their ones get action in the preseason,
and they'll get action again this year, and this year
is no different. And you could play that game. Why
don't we just play that game with preseason? Why don't
we do that for more stuff? For anyone who's like,
do you really think it's gonna make a big difference
getting one series with the ones? What's like, okay, well,
(15:52):
then what's the point of joint practices? What's the point
of having your ones out there for that? What's the
point of practice in general? You can get hurt in practice. Right.
We'll talk about Teddy Bridgewater a little bit later in
the show. He was he had a tryout for the
Tampa Bay He's probably gonna sign with Tampa, but he
got his career almost ended because of this hideous injury
(16:15):
in practice. Nobody talks about right, like, it's just a
necessary evil. You gotta practice, you gotta get on the field,
you gotta take live reps, you gotta work on your game.
And with that comes danger. And for whatever reason, the
preseason has turned into the equivalent of like juggling steak
(16:36):
knives and chainsaws while you're on a tight, tight rope
across the Grand Canyon. That's what it's turned into in
the minds of so many people. This is an unnecessary risk.
You are just gambling on your health and the season
by even going out there. It's just so dumb to me.
(16:57):
And this is the way it's gonna play out, like
every single year. Maybe it's a well known player, it's
a starter. He's gonna get on the field in the
preseason and he's gonna get hurt. And then most people
are gonna be like, why was he even out there
to begin with?
Speaker 5 (17:12):
Baby, Baby, And I always say every single time, I'm like,
it's just unfortunate, man, Like this is football.
Speaker 1 (17:22):
Injuries happen. I don't look at it as unnecessary. It
was stupid for him to even be out there in
the first place. I just look at it as unfortunate.
It's like, yeah, you're getting out there. You're in a
game like situation. It's the closest thing you're gonna get
to the regular season as far as live bullets go.
(17:43):
Get out there in the preseason, get a few reps.
You're a young player like JJ McCarthy, I'm all for it.
Therizona Cardinals. They're gonna have some of their ones out there.
Kyler Murray he's gonna play in the preseason for the
first time in four years. It's four years ago last
time he played in the preseason. But his coach, Jonathan Gannon,
He's like, I think it makes a lot of sense
(18:05):
to get our starters out there, even for limited action.
And I have no issue with that at all. I
really don't. I think there's some value. Again, if there
was no value, Mahomes wouldn't sniff the field. You think
Mahomes needs reps like Andy Reid does. I mean, if
Andy Reid thinks there's some value, why would you or
(18:28):
I say there's no value whatsoever. I think there's some value.
But I'm for a young quarterback like JJ McCarthy getting
out there. I think it makes sense. All right, let's
get out to the militia here. Mike the Leprechaun is
with us. Mike, what's up man? Welcome to Fox Sports Radio.
How are things very.
Speaker 8 (18:47):
Well, bry You're doing a good job. Thank you, Lorena
and brilliant.
Speaker 1 (18:53):
How good was that? That blew my mind? I thought
they were going to mess up a line or something.
She even Lorena went a cappella. She he's given us
verses without anything in the background.
Speaker 8 (19:03):
Okay, Big Ben. If big And did a song, he
should do back to the Bone. That would be my
song for him. Okay, anyway, And how would you do, Brian?
How do you in the gym? How would you do
on the president Presidential Fitness Test?
Speaker 2 (19:18):
Wow?
Speaker 1 (19:18):
Man, I can't remember all the events there. I know,
pull ups and like what the toe touch and all that.
Not as flexible as I used to be, Mike the
Leprechaun me neither me.
Speaker 8 (19:28):
Neither, even though I paid post sports in the old day.
But anyway, definitely, the Red Sox are on fire, your
Red Sox fan, Mike, you reckon? Yes? I am there, Yeah,
yeah yeah. And I have a joke for Coop. I
know he won't like me for this. Last week they
talked about the Broncos making noise Coop to the field.
(19:50):
So what kind of noise will the Broncos make this year?
Speaker 3 (19:53):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (19:55):
What time?
Speaker 8 (19:57):
Oh? Like the sound of a broken his off pipe?
I'm highway?
Speaker 4 (20:00):
Maybe you know.
Speaker 1 (20:05):
I don't think it was a bad joke at all.
I think there might be some truth to that. Don't
stop it I think they could fall flat on their face,
you know, high expectations, no playoffs.
Speaker 8 (20:14):
I was actually I was a friendly on that side,
but I didn't. I decided not to throw them at
Chile on the field.
Speaker 1 (20:21):
Yeah, well, hey man, that might be the next betting market.
What color is the sheilelee that gets on the field
of an MLB game?
Speaker 2 (20:29):
You know it's a stick?
Speaker 8 (20:30):
Okay, I have to do my contribution to the karaoke
So this is an honor of football kicking off. Literally
all right, you probably recognize the two.
Speaker 1 (20:42):
Better not be green day there.
Speaker 8 (20:47):
Say, and I got a woman of it. He the action,
he got the motion. Yeah, can't place dedication.
Speaker 1 (21:10):
How dare you?
Speaker 2 (21:11):
Wow?
Speaker 1 (21:11):
He was on a roll right there. You were buying
that me.
Speaker 2 (21:14):
That wasn't me.
Speaker 1 (21:15):
I didn't do what I was really enjoying. Mike's stopping
must have been the update anchor desk that has access.
Speaker 4 (21:21):
To told I was told to dump.
Speaker 1 (21:24):
Him really by who? Who told you that?
Speaker 4 (21:28):
I said, that's enough of that, So it was not me.
Speaker 6 (21:32):
I was gonna let him go, Mike the leprechn Just
know I was on your side for this one the first.
Speaker 1 (21:38):
I love that coop just like me. But that's good.
You know what this does. I couldn't hear everything because
the phone was not cooperating, but I did at the
last minute. I caught the tune what he was going
with right there. But yeah, you know, I think it
was more phone quality than anything. Stirring rendition by Mike
(21:59):
the Leper. Appreciate his contribution, but he did mention your
Broncos there, Coop, And I mentioned at the top of
the show that a knockdown, dragout brawl, we're talking verbal
fisticuffs right here between me and you is just brewing
because of a tweet I saw the other day and
(22:19):
I took a screenshot and I sent it to you,
and it talked about Zach Allen. So he's a defensive
lineman for the Broncos. Signed a nice contract extension four years,
one hundred and two million dollars. Sixty nine point five
of that is guaranteed. It was sixty nine point five
million dollars in guaranteed cash. He's a very good defensive lineman.
(22:42):
And one of the tweets, I can't remember if it
was Schefter or somebody else, talked about the Broncos signing
their star defensive end Zach Allen and I sent it
to Coop and I was like, star, Come on, man, now,
he's a very good player, don't get me wrong. Not
a star. You gotta have star like, not just talent production.
You gotta have star notoriety. He does not have notoriety.
(23:06):
He does not check the notoriety box, Coop. He is
not a star. Do you think that Zach Allen is
a star?
Speaker 4 (23:14):
Absolutely?
Speaker 1 (23:15):
Okay, I want to hear this argument. Why is Zach
Allen a star in your mind?
Speaker 4 (23:19):
Isn't all pro It doesn't mean you're a star. Yes, no,
it doesn't.
Speaker 1 (23:25):
You gotta have the notoriety as well. Do you think
that Zach Allen has the notoriety his star like notoriety?
He doesn't. He doesn't.
Speaker 4 (23:35):
There's He's not a superstar. He's not a.
Speaker 1 (23:39):
Star either, not a star either. Like my guy Zach
Seeler for the Dolphins. He signed a contract extension this
week as well, see a star.
Speaker 4 (23:51):
How much is the contract extension for?
Speaker 1 (23:54):
Uh? It is not as much as Zach Allen not
a star because Zach Allen got the market cornered over there.
But it's a pretty good contract extension. I don't know
the Zach dollars and says, let me try to get
it for you, the Zach Sealer contract extension. Let's see,
here we go, here we go. Sorry, and I have
(24:15):
to see if he's been at least a pro bowler.
But he's a good player, Okay, So we're talking three
years worth up to sixty seven million dollars forty four
million dollars guaranteed. That's over three years, so not that
far away from what Zach Allen's signed for. And Zach
Sealer had more sacks last season as a defensive lineman,
(24:37):
ten sacks compared to your guy, Zach Allen with eight
and a half. Again, neither is a star. They're both
very good players, very good productive, not stars. You gotta
have notoriety. Let me check on Zach Stealer and he
Pro Bowls and he I'll laugh if he's an All
Pro noe no Pro Bowls though, don't have that.
Speaker 9 (24:58):
Zach Allen joined Nick Bosa, Aaron Donald, JJ Watt, and TJ.
Watt is the only players ever to record forty or
more quarterback hits in a single season. Let all defensive
linemen and snaps played at nine hundred and sixty four
or over one hundred more than the next highest player.
Speaker 4 (25:14):
Dude's a star.
Speaker 1 (25:15):
Again. You could like rewind before this conversation even began
and I could talk to NFL fans like legit NFL
fans part of the militia calling in. I'm just be like, hey, quick, hey,
who does Zach Allen play for? And I guarantee you
most of the people would get that wrong. It's not like, oh,
(25:38):
Broncos all day, Zach Allen, star stud. A lot of
people don't even know what.
Speaker 4 (25:43):
He plays for us because he's got a generic name.
Speaker 1 (25:46):
It's because he's not a star, is why. Like there
are other players with generic names, but they're they're true
stars and you know who they play for. Let me
get the All Pro list over here. This is a
terrible argument by Coop my gosh, Zach Allen not a star.
All Pro twenty twenty four NFL. Okay, I want to
(26:07):
see the All Pro team. What's it like a cookie
cutter type name. Let's find out real quick. Josh Allen
is a pretty common quarterback.
Speaker 4 (26:17):
You can't compare.
Speaker 1 (26:19):
I'm just saying as far as just a basic name goes, okay,
Jack Fox, that's a pretty basic name. He's a punter.
That's not a great example.
Speaker 4 (26:30):
Let's have no idea who that is.
Speaker 1 (26:32):
Oh, come on, you know the Lions punter right there?
Speaker 3 (26:34):
You don't know.
Speaker 1 (26:36):
Let's see maybe there's a better example right here. Okay,
basic name, very basic. Good comparison to Chris Jones. Who
does Chris Jones play for stud defensive lineman the Chiefs,
of course, because he's a true star as basic good
name as you can get. It's not because Zach Allen
has a basic name. It's just because people don't know
(26:58):
who he is. He's pretty, but he's not a standout.
He doesn't have notoriety. You gotta have that to be
a true star. You're raging against logic here, kop is
what's happening? You know, Like Aaron Donald is a good example.
(27:18):
Aaron Donald common name, right, He had talent, production, notoriety.
He checked every box. He was a true superstar. He
was one of the best defensive lineman ever. And I'm
not saying Zach Allen's got to be on that level,
but he's just he's one of the other non Patrick
Certan guys on that Broncos defense. In terms of notoriety,
(27:41):
that's the level he's at not Zach Allen hate does
Zach Allen reality over here? That's all. That's all. Not
trying to sell him short. But I think that's where
we're at.
Speaker 4 (27:52):
What sounds like you're trying to sell him short.
Speaker 1 (27:54):
I'm not. We got into this with your boy, Nick Bonito. Nick,
Butnita is a very good player. Productive. What do you
have double digit sacks last season? It's a really good player.
He's not a star.
Speaker 4 (28:08):
He's gonna be a star.
Speaker 1 (28:09):
He might be. He very well could be. Coop. I
agree with you, he's on his way to being a star.
But I think you gotta have notoriety. You can't just
be this productive player, even you could be a pro bowler.
I don't think that makes it stop.
Speaker 9 (28:24):
But see, like you're it's kind of like splitting hairs
because in the Denver like you know, football, the Denver
sports scene, he's a star. Anybody in Denver is gonna
know who it is. And so you're seeing an article
or a tweet that's saying, you know, the Broncos extend
(28:45):
their star defensive and yes, he's the star of the
you know, he's one of the stars on the defensive line.
By the way, if you go into the crowd at
whatever they're calling it now in power field, right, he's
gonna be one of the top names that you see
on fans backs.
Speaker 1 (29:08):
Okay, so I just did a quick search over here.
Not only is Zach Allen not an All Pro, he's
not even a pro bowler. He's never been there in
his career. And he's a star. What are we doing?
Speaker 4 (29:21):
He is an All Pro?
Speaker 1 (29:24):
When where last year he was not?
Speaker 4 (29:27):
Yes, he was second team All Pro.
Speaker 1 (29:29):
There's nothing here, got nothing for Zach Allen. Zach Allen
not a pro bowler. Let's see, Yeah, not selected to
the Pro Bowl. How are you not selected to? Okay,
he was also recognize Okay, second team All Pro? Wow,
here you go, second team All Pro. That's where the
stars are. There are some stars on second team All Pro.
(29:51):
But yeah, and even been a pro bowler, Coop, Come on, Pro.
Speaker 9 (29:55):
Bowling just doesn't mean anything? Yeah it does, It doesn't,
It doesn't anymore.
Speaker 1 (30:00):
That's a lesser distinction.
Speaker 9 (30:03):
The last time that you filled in, didn't we talk
about this how the Pro Bowl means nothing?
Speaker 3 (30:07):
No?
Speaker 9 (30:07):
Because because we have what was it? Who do we
bring up some some scrub that.
Speaker 1 (30:14):
Yeah, it was he's in the news too. It's uh
Tyrod Taylor. No, no, no, no, no, no, sorry, it's
the guy who just signed with the Browns. It's he's
just with the Dolphins. Why am I blanking former Raven
Tyler Huntley?
Speaker 4 (30:26):
Yes, yes, that's it.
Speaker 1 (30:27):
Yeah, Tyler Huntley technically a pro bowler, which is just
a joke. It's it's such a joke, like he wasn't
even named that way. Zach Allen still hasn't made the
Pro Bowl, even though like everybody gets that distinction as
an alternate. You know, it's ridiculous at this point. No,
not a star. Not a star. I'd love to have.
(30:49):
I'd love to have all sorts of Militia members chime
in on this, but I think we've just wasted five
minutes in their lives, scoop. You know, it's like Zach Allen, no,
not doesn't have the notoriety to be a legit, bona
fide star. Not true, untrue, is what I would say.
Feel free to check in Militia on the Star, Zach
(31:11):
Allen or anything else, anything else you want to get
in on eight seven seven nine on Fox. Is your
phone number coming up next? It's amazing where one quarterback
is and how another quarterback could be right next to him,
but is the complete opposite. We'll get to that around
(31:33):
the corner. We'll get to the militia. If you're there,
stay on hold, We'll get right to you. I'm Brian
no In for Big Ben Malor. Keep it locked right
here on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (31:40):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Ben Maller
Show weekdays at two am Eastern eleven pm Pacific.
Speaker 1 (31:46):
It is Fox Sports Radio. I'm Brian no In for
Big Ben Malor. Let me get to Raoul. We'll put
let's put a bow on the Broncos here real fast,
and I'll get to my my other take here. But Raoul,
you're up. But what's on your mind?
Speaker 8 (32:04):
Hey?
Speaker 2 (32:04):
What's going on?
Speaker 8 (32:05):
Brian?
Speaker 1 (32:06):
Not much?
Speaker 3 (32:06):
Man?
Speaker 1 (32:06):
Are you doing pretty good?
Speaker 8 (32:08):
Man? Pretty good?
Speaker 2 (32:09):
Hey, I'm just I'm trying to rag on Coop's parade
because they ring't going no where this year.
Speaker 1 (32:16):
I like it, Raoul? Yeah, how come on? Are the
reasons why you root for another team?
Speaker 2 (32:21):
Maybe?
Speaker 8 (32:22):
Yeah, the Raiders.
Speaker 1 (32:26):
Listen listen to that, listen to that punk Coop just laugh.
Do you think you think the Raider is going to
have more success? Than the Broncos. Seriously do you think so?
Speaker 2 (32:36):
Yeah, they'll surprise people.
Speaker 7 (32:37):
They're gonna surprise the Broncos.
Speaker 4 (32:39):
Do you watch?
Speaker 6 (32:40):
Come on now, I'm calling back when they lose to
the to the Raiders.
Speaker 2 (32:45):
I'm calling you back, and you've got to answer me.
Speaker 4 (32:47):
Coop. All right, Ill, we'll look forward to that.
Speaker 1 (32:51):
That could absolutely happen. I wouldn't think that's crazy. It's
a divisional game. I could see that happening.
Speaker 2 (32:57):
Yeah, it couldn't be a surprise, but it'll be enough shick.
Speaker 1 (33:01):
Yeah, yeah, you're right about that. I saw Gino, your guy,
Gino Smith was saying, keep sleeping on us. I like that.
Speaker 7 (33:07):
Yeah, that's right.
Speaker 2 (33:09):
Yeah, let's surprise people. You'll see Yeah, I like that.
Speaker 1 (33:14):
Okay, we'll see Rabul and Coopy. He promises to answer
the phone if that does happen.
Speaker 2 (33:19):
Yeah he will.
Speaker 1 (33:20):
All right, man, you guys take it easy and uh.
Speaker 2 (33:23):
I want to welcome you guys. If you guys want
to come over to Texas the pastor, we'll do a
militia out here for you guys.
Speaker 1 (33:30):
Very nice. We appreciate the invitation. Raoul, Yeah, maybe that'll happen,
who knows. Possibly, you guys are going to be over
into Vegas here pretty soon.
Speaker 4 (33:37):
For me.
Speaker 1 (33:38):
Yeah, looking forward to that. Very cool. Yeah, I will
say real fast on the Raiders because I do like
that from Geno Smith. Now, I don't expect the Raiders
to have a great season. I don't expect the Raiders
to be better than your Broncos this season, just full
disclosure coup. But I do love that Geno Smith was like, yeah,
(33:59):
keep sleeping on us. You know, we can sneak up
on teams that way. I love that because you know
how it goes these days, everybody's like they're not giving
us our respect. They're not We're better, And I love
that Gino just went the other direction. He's like, yeah,
keep sleeping on us, keep doing that. We'll use that
to our advantage. I like that from him. I don't
think it's gonna matter. I don't think it's gonna you know,
(34:20):
produce a bunch of wins. But I like that approach
from Geno Smith. Likable dude. So a couple of quarterbacks,
let me let me say this real fast, because it's
kind of like a no name quarterback that unfortunately Teddy
Bridgewater is he's a no name quarterback now he's been
a journeyman. He visited Tampa. He's expected to sign with
(34:43):
Tampa Bay, and this would be his eighth NFL team,
And there's this tweet from Adam Schefter, Hey put, this
is his third NFC South team to go along with
the Saints and the Panthers. Like, assuming that Teddy Bridgewater
does signed with Tampa, and I just thought about the
(35:04):
first things. First, really unfortunate. Teddy Bridgewater suffered a big
time injury when he was still in Minnesota that really
impacted his career for sure. But you look at the
way his career has played out, it could have easily
been the way Baker Mayfield's career played out. And now
(35:26):
you look at Baker like his career has been revived
in Tampa. If you just look at their two paths, okay,
and I think it'll if you hang with me for
a couple of minutes, I think you'd be like, Wow,
that's pretty crazy if you think about it. If you
look at Teddy Bridgewater, so he's in Minnesota, suffers this
horrible injury in practice, it took a couple of years
(35:49):
to get back. So he's in Minnesota for a couple
of years. Then he starts going from team to team
to team to team. He was with the Saints for
two years, then the Panthers for a year, your Broncos
coop for a year, My Dolphins for a year. That's
kind of funny. Who went to both of our teams,
and then it was with the Lions for two years.
So he's a journeyman, right. If you look at Baker
(36:12):
Mayfield's career, that's exactly what he was on the fast
pass lane toward. He was about to be a journeyman.
So if you look at Baker his first four years,
he was in Cleveland and then he was out of there,
fizzled out toward the end. He started six games for
the Panthers and four games for the Rams in twenty
(36:34):
twenty two. It was a horrible season, played for two
bad teams. He struggled. His value was even lower. And
then Tom Brady retired after the twenty twenty two season,
and that's when Baker Mayfield signed with Tampa. He signed
in twenty twenty three. Get this a one year deal
for four million dollars. That's what Baker Mayfield initially signed
(36:58):
for with Tampa, and so they're just taking a flyer
on the guy. They're like, all right, warm body, Baker Mayfield.
He was a number one pick overall for a reason.
I guess maybe what are our other options? Let's just
give it a try. Kick the tires on him. He
played great in twenty twenty three. This is wild too.
(37:18):
That twenty twenty three season in the playoffs, Tampa crushed Philly.
They won thirty two to nine. That was the year
before this past season when the Eagles won everything. Tampa
crushed him thirty two to nine, and they played the
Lions tough on the road in the playoffs. They came
(37:38):
up short. Baker threw a costly interception at the end
of that game, but still a very successful twenty twenty
three season. Signed a three year extension one hundred million
dollars with Tampa. They played great last season also, and
what do you know, his career has been revived. So
if you look at Teddy Bridgewater, he was with Carol
(38:00):
in twenty twenty, Baker Mayfield was in Carolina in twenty
twenty two. And I'm telling you the way Bridgewater turned
into a journeyman, that's exactly what Baker Mayfield's career was
headed toward. And then he went to Tampa to really
productive seasons, and now you look at Baker and you're like,
(38:22):
he's a top ten quarterback in terms of production. He's there,
top ten guy, looked like he was gonna be on
a Bridgewater journeyman path and it's anything but that. Now
pretty crazy. But now it looks like Bridgewater might be
Baker Mayfield's backup quarterback. Just wild, and it's it's not
to talk trash on Teddy Bridgewater. That's not the whole
(38:44):
point of this. The whole point is Baker Mayfield could
have been in the exact same situation and it just
worked out. He got an opportunity with Tampa competent supporting cast,
he made the most of it, revived his entire career.
That's pretty wild to think about, because the way you
(39:06):
look at Teddy with Saints two years, Panthers a year,
Broncos a year, Dolphins a year, Lions a couple of years,
that's exactly what Baker was headed toward. And he just
did a sharp left hand turn and all of a sudden,
it's like, Wow, careers on track again. It's pretty wild.
By the way, the AI version of our doctored pictures Coop,
(39:30):
they're freaking weird.
Speaker 4 (39:33):
Yeah, I don't get this.
Speaker 1 (39:34):
Yeah, we got a I'll give a shout out to
the person who you know here it is. It's a
Mallard Prop. Yeah, he Ellen.
Speaker 4 (39:42):
Prop always makes the best A.
Speaker 1 (39:44):
I said, yeah, it's pretty interesting. He has us as
rock em sockem Robots because we're disagreeing on Zach Allen's
star status. You know, by the way, Robbie the Mariner
agrees with you, Coop, And they had a ridiculous reasoning
as to why. I. I won't bore you with that.
I'm kidding mostly Robbie the Mariner fan. It's all good.
(40:05):
But yeah, mallor Prop, I I it doesn't look really
anything like me. Coop does because I think that sort
of looks like you. Do you think that looks nothing
like you?
Speaker 4 (40:16):
It does a little bit, a little also not, It's
just it's not you. It's the Uncanny Valley.
Speaker 1 (40:22):
Yeah. I don't know who that I turned into. Someone
very different. I'm not sure who uh coming up next?
This guy is gonna be special, not this special.
