Speaker 1 (00:00):
Oh, what's going on. Happy Friday morning to you. I
hope everything's going great.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
You know.

Speaker 1 (00:05):
I'm gonna get to and I've put extensive thought into
this militia. The three most interesting players this year in
the most interesting league. So you know, obviously that's the NFL. Right,
We're gonna be the three most interesting, not the best,
the three most interesting, the most talked about, the headline

(00:26):
type guys, who's it gonna be. I'm gonna get to
that in just a minute, but I just want to
say something stupid first. Okay, we always make time for
stupidity here when I'm filling in for Big Ben Meller. So,
Coop and Lorena are gonna be in Vegas here in
about a week, right, it's gonna be the Ben Meller
Meet and greet, and so I'm.

Speaker 3 (00:46):
Like, well, well you guys are here, we gotta have
I think this time next week we will be pulling
into Vegas.

Speaker 1 (00:50):
That's right. I'm like, we gotta have casino night one
of these nights. You know, we got to play the
electronic Ponies or craps or whatever. We gotta have casino night.

Speaker 3 (00:59):
Heck, gys, I know, are you gonna to the meet
and greet on Saturday.

Speaker 1 (01:01):
I will I will check it out. Yeah yeah, so
that'd be fun. And uh so this is the stupid part.
You know what I've always want me to do? No,
no, no no, I've always wanted to do this. I swear
I'm going to do it at one point in my
life because I'm just joking around with the Loraina, like
we should do a bond casino night, like we're wearing

(01:22):
suits and ties, evening gown, you know, high roller status dresses.
That's what I want to do one time in my life. Okay,
I'm going to go to a craps table. Would be
pretty good, either craps, blackjack, something like that, and whatever
the limit is, let's say it's pretty good. Let's like
a thousand dollars, five thousand dollars something like that. I

(01:44):
want to put more money than that down. I think
I've told you this. I want to put like ten
thousand dollars down at the five thousand dollars table. And
I'm hoping, like, let's get back by. I'm hoping they're like, sir, sir,
the limits five thousand, and I want, with a disgusted
look on my face, to grab my chips and just
go oh and then walk off like this.

Speaker 4 (02:07):
That's right.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
I remember talking about this. Yeah, And I walk up
and I said, what would happen actually is the the
dealer would call over the pit boss, and the pit
boss would be like, okay, yeah, that's fine, I.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
Know right, or it just wouldn't catch it, yead, go ahead.
I'm just sweating bullets, like dude, this is too much.
I'm trying to look at him like all it would
it would probably backfire on me somehow.

Speaker 3 (02:29):
So I think the most I've played at an actual
craps table was like three hundred down of my own cash.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
Did you really?

Speaker 2 (02:34):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (02:35):
I always double, so last time I only did a hundred,
and I did good and I got my back my hund.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
But you're saying you that's your steak, right, You're not
saying you just I don't know you threw it on
the field or the pass line. You didn't make it.

Speaker 3 (02:46):
Now I have all my little coin, my chippies on
the side, and then I actually stand next to the
dealer because the dealers love pretty ladies and they tell
you where to put your coins, especially you know how
I told you, I kind of stalk the tables first,
so I'll find the table that has the nicest person
who's like, oh, let me help you.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
See, and they help you out and then they help
me nice.

Speaker 4 (03:06):
You know.

Speaker 1 (03:06):
My first time playing craps, it was me and one
of my buddies, uh, Cody by guy back in Indiana.
I knew him from you know, high school and all that.
We went to the boat. Cody that yeah, Cody Pickens,
my guy. That was the thing way back when to
go to the casino from Indiana you would go to
the boat in Michigan City and it literally was a boat.
It had to be on water, like all this weird

(03:28):
gambling stuff. But we went to the boat. We were
playing craps. I had no idea how to play, no clue.
I'm just learning on the fly.

Speaker 4 (03:35):
Uh huh.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
And they were like, yeah, you could go yo eleven.
You know, They're like, you could you could like throw
throw your money. I mean, you could bet your money.
It's just a one time throw. It's if it's eleven,
you'd like and then you get fifteen times your money. Basically,
I'm like, all right, let's try that Yo eleven, Yo eleven.
Like I was crushing Yo. I had Lorena chips everywhere,

(04:01):
you know, like the railing in front of you, there
were just rows of chips. There were chips in my pockets.
I had cargo short.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
We're gonna play on every sided.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
And you know what, I kept doing what you eleven
eleven yo? And I lost everything I had won.

Speaker 4 (04:17):
You hit it.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
Oh No, that was the very first time away your
wins you have. I know, I know, but I didn't.
I didn't even realize. The only thing I was like,
look at all these freaking chips. They were everywhere, and
then they weren't, and then they were gone.

Speaker 3 (04:32):
You gotta take the chips back to your room that night.
Don't even cash them in, take them back to your
room and sleep on them.

Speaker 1 (04:36):
Yeah. Well no, for next time. I'll know for next time. Yeah, okay,
So the three most interesting players in the NFL? Who
are they going to be this year?

Speaker 4 (04:49):
Right?

Speaker 1 (04:49):
Like, I've been thinking about this and I want to
put Shador Sanders in the top three because think about that.
We're talking about driving conversation.

Speaker 4 (05:00):
Right.

Speaker 1 (05:01):
You put on sports radio, what's a common player that's
talked about a lot, getting a lot of airtime? You
turn on sports TV, you watch Sports Center, you watch.
First things first, whatever what's Cowhard talking about on TV?
Who are gonna be the three most interesting players? They
get a lot of conversation, opinions go lower, all that

(05:24):
type of stuff. I want to put Shador Sanders in
the top three because the thinking is if he plays,
If he plays, he's almost a lock to be in
the top three. He's just gonna generate conversation. If he's good,
you get the Shadueur backers, like what now, what do
you have to say?

Speaker 4 (05:44):
Now?

Speaker 1 (05:44):
If he's bad, you get the Shaduur haters. Haha, we
knew it badly, you know that type of stuff. It's
just gonna be a back and forth the whole time.
It's like the It's comparable to the Tebow phenomenon, right,
Like t Baw wasn't good, but everybody had an opinion
on him and he just drove conversations. So that's the thing.

(06:07):
If Shador gets on the field, think about that for
a second. If he gets on the field as the
starting quarterback, just walk through that. Why wouldn't the Browns
put him out there for some portion of the season.
How's the season realistically gonna play out for them? They're
gonna be losing games left and right. Why would you

(06:29):
just stick with Flacco? Why would you be like, all right,
enough of Flacco, Let's see what Kenny Pickett can do. Now,
you know what I mean? Like, why why are you
wasting time on that? At some point you gotta throw
a rookie out there, and it's gonna be Dylan Gabriel
or Shadu or Sanders, it might be both. You know,
it's possible one gets in there and gets hurt and
then the other guy gets them playing time, or the

(06:51):
first rookie gets in there totally ineffective, the other rookie
gets playing time. So as long as Shadueur gets on
the field, I think he's a cinch to be one
of the top three most interesting players this year. But
will he get on the field as the starter? It's
not a lock. It's not a lock. I think he should.
I think it's likely. You know, you go up and

(07:15):
I it's likely. I start squinning that he'll get out there,
just based on what's in front of him. And again
like the why not factor, why not, let's just see
what he's got. Maybe he can do some things for us,
Maybe he can help us out let's just get the
ball rolling. It's Week twelve. Our record is in the toilet, right.

(07:36):
If he gets out there, then I still think he'd
be one of the top three players talked about. And
you could even throw this out there, even if he's
not getting playing time and the Browns are losing games
left and right. Flacco's fresh off a stinker performance. He
just threw three picks, you know what I mean. The
conversation's gonna be there too. He's gonna be talked about

(07:57):
quite a bit, so should or might be the top three,
But let's talk about the other ones. They're gonna be
in there. These two are on my list top three
most interesting players in the NFL this season. Bears quarterback
Caleb Williams, Locke City, USA. He is for sure gonna
be one of the top three most interesting players because

(08:19):
of everything we've been through with Caleb Williams. The guy
was just missing throws into a net in training camp
and this was like a oh my gosh moment. It's
the insanity. I think is the most scrutinized quarterback. I
think he's the most scrutinized player in the NFL by far. Right, Now,

(08:40):
the shduor Sanders would be the other. But in terms
of scrutiny, you know, like it doesn't get much better
than scrutinizing, you know, throwing a football into a net.
That's pretty much the epitome of scrutiny right there. So
with Caleb Williams first year with Ben Johnson, how is
he gonna play? Are the Bears winning games? Is his

(09:03):
production any better? If he looks better, he's gonna be
a story. If he looks the same as his rookie season,
he's taking sackscalore. He's struggling, that's gonna be a story.
If he's worse, that's even a bigger story. So Caleb
Williams good, bad, similar, indifferent, He's gonna be a monster
story this year. I also put in my top three.

(09:25):
I'm gonna put Vikings quarterback JJ McCarthy.

Speaker 4 (09:28):
There.

Speaker 1 (09:28):
Now the reason I like JJ McCarthy to be a
top three most interesting player, it's the boombust factor with
the Vikings. And it's also what the Vikings just did
the previous season. They went fourteen and three. They won
fourteen games with Sam Darnald Donald threw thirty five touchdown passes.

(09:50):
So JJ McCarthy is a first year starting quarterback. If
he's good, if he's serviceable, the Vikings are gonna be
winning games. If he's got these first year growing pains
and man, he made a costly throw to lose this
game and then man, the next game he's stunk it up.
What the hell is going on with the Vikings and
JJ McCarthy. Did they make the right decision? Should they

(10:12):
have gotten rid of Darnold bab bab? It's gonna be
a big time talking point. So I think if JJ
McCarthy is good, it's whoa look at this guy? Man,
what's the ceiling for the Vikings? If he starts off slowly,
it's everything I just said. But I think he's going
to be one of the biggest vocal points in the
NFL this season. And then you get to like the

(10:33):
usual suspects. Is it possible that take your pick Lamar
or Burrow or Josh Allen or a lot of these
guys who are big names who have yet to win
a Super Bowl, they're having great seasons or they're struggling.
Could they be one of the three most interesting players

(10:53):
to talk about? Yeah, they could. It's hard to pinpoint
which one it's gonna be I thought about Jalen Hurts.
Could he be one of the top three most interesting topics?
Maybe if you think of the Eagles defending Super Bowl champs.
Let's say that Jalen Hurts is struggling a little bit.
Let's say that Saquon Off of four hundred plus touches

(11:16):
takes a step back this season. It's happened before running
backs with the workload that great. They don't sustain excellence
like that, So he could have a noticeable step back.
And then there's more on Jalen Hurts plate. And let's
say he's not playing great. These are the defending champs.
They just kicked around the Chiefs high expectations. Again, they're struggling,

(11:36):
and it traces back to Jalen Hurts. He's gonna be
a big topic, So it could be him. I thought
Coop came up with a great name. And there are
a lot of ways to get home. You always talk
about this in sports betting. We have a lot of
ways to get home, right. We could win it with
the defense, We could win it with the passing game,
could win it with the running game. With a lot

(11:57):
of ways to get home. On this one he threw out,
and I'll give him credit, Aaron Rodgers. Now the thing
with Rogers is how we can get home. Okay, he
plays great. Wow, look at Rogers. Look at his career. Man,
the Jets really were a grease fire, no wonder he
struggled over there. Look at him now with a real organization.
Blah blah blah. He's doing these hits. I don't know

(12:19):
if he's able to go on McAfee, if he's able
to do you know, media hits. I know that was
the thing with the Jets, didn't want it. To my knowledge,
I don't think the Steelers have put the kebash on that.
So if he's doing weekly hits, and he's even more
in front of your face, he's got to say something
that raised his eyebrows. That happened last year, Remember was

(12:40):
that Mike Williams who ran the wrong Someone ran the
wrong pattern and he was like, yeah, freaking guy. If
he ran the right pattern, I don't know, maybe we
would have completed though that's I'm paraphrasing, but that was
the gist of it. If Rogers is doing that, he's
a shoe in. If he's doing weekly hits, I mean
they're gonna have a loss or two in a row
and he's gonna say something and it's gonna be a

(13:01):
big story. And then also if he just sucks, if
he's a shell of himself, if he's still not right
health wise, right, like, it's still gonna be a big story.
A lot of ways to get there. The one thing
where maybe he's not a focal point is we're just
sort of over it. And let's say Rogers is like

(13:22):
the last year, not the first year of FARV in
Minnesota when he threw thirty three touchdown passes seven interceptions
that make it to the NFC title game, he was
a huge story. It's the last year of FARV with
the Vikings, right the next year where he struggled, he
got injured, the iron Man streak ended, he got you know,
knocked out against the Bears, the whole thing. Right, If

(13:43):
Rogers just sucks, I really do think there's a point
where we're just completely fatigued and we're just done. We're
over it. So yeah, I think that if he's maybe,
if he sucks, I think he'd be interesting. If he's
just like below average, he's okay, he's not a disaster,
but there's just no juice really with him or the Steelers.

(14:07):
The Steelers are like nine to eight, eight and nine ish.
You know, it's Rogers is middle of the pack at best.
I think I think it could be a tuneout. I
think it could be a shoulder shrug type situation right there.
But I do I think there are a lot more
ways to get home with Rogers being one of the
three most interesting players in the NFL this season. That's

(14:28):
my list. I'll go Caleb Williams, JJ McCarthy, Aaron Rodgers.
I'll say those are the three most interesting players in
the NFL this season. Your thoughts feel free to weigh in.
Eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox is how you
can check in here also on Twitter slash x. Whatever

(14:50):
you say, however, you get down at the no show
if you want to reach out to me. By the way,
mister knice guy hit me up. He actually had something
nice to say. That's good. Apparently is it's mister nic
guy on both accounts, So I thought it was someone
impersonating mister nice guy as a member of the militia.

Speaker 4 (15:05):
Right.

Speaker 1 (15:05):
He went back with Coop and I long time ago,
we're doing weekend overnights. We've known mister nice guy forever.
So he tweeted that, No, my initial account wasn't working,
so it's just my side hustle hater account and I
just talked trash on that basically, I get. I don't
know that's how it works out, but it's mister nice
guy in both of them. But he checked in and
had a couple of nice things to say, so he's

(15:27):
not completely dead inside Coop. That's good. That's good news
right there. But feel free to check in. Militia always
like being interactive and hearing from you guys, so we'll
make time for if you want to get on, get
in here. Uh, come it up next. There is a
player that I get it from his perspective why he
hates sports betting, But you gotta look at the big

(15:50):
picture at the same time too, I'll throw that story
at you. I'm Brian in for Big Ben Mallor stay

(16:57):

It's such a vibe.

Speaker 3 (17:01):
I know everyone hates him right now because the whole
Kendrick battle, but I ain't got no beef with him.

Speaker 1 (17:06):
It's still it's a still this thing that's a long
time ago. They not like us. They're still on the
Drake's just not popular anymore.

Speaker 4 (17:13):
Huh.

Speaker 3 (17:13):
I don't think that's true. Yeah, I think I don't
think you can kill his popularity.

Speaker 1 (17:17):
Well, you can den it deadly bend it, for sure.
There's a dent in net popularity right now. But he
doesn't care. He's sitting on he's wiping his tears with money.
You know, he doesn't care. He's good. So there's a
story that caught my attention on Thursday. This is Michael
Porter junior. Okay, so he's now playing for the Brooklyn Nets.

(17:41):
He is a former member of the Denver Nuggets. He
was traded, but he went on a podcast and he
was talking about sports betting and look, he made some
points that I completely agree with. And the gist of
it is, this is all from his standpoint, right, and
it makes sense. He's the one who's dealing with these
idiotic fans that say, dude, I needed one more basket

(18:03):
and you couldn't score and I'm just mad at you,
And I mean, he's got to deal with those people
are worse. He's like, we really do get death threats.
His life is threatened because he didn't get one more
rebound and the parlay didn't hit. You know, this is ridiculous,
but unfortunately that's what a lot of athletes have to

(18:23):
deal with. And a couple of Michael Porter Junior's thoughts
on this podcast. He said, the whole sport's gambling entity.
It's bad and it's only going to get worse. And
one of the examples, he said, the enjoyment of the
game isn't for the game anymore so that people can
make money. In reality, way more people are losing money

(18:45):
than making money. Now he's right about that, So think
about it. This is the dynamics, this is how it
all comes together, and a lot of athletes get screwed
on this. So you got a lot of sports betters
now more than ever because it's legalized. So you just
get on your app of choice. You know that MGM,
DraftKings Fan Duel, whatever, and you search for the best line.

(19:07):
Maybe you got multiple sports books, right, and you're just
firing away and there are a lot of betters that
lose more than they win. And then there are a
lot of betters that can't handle it. It might lash
out at an athlete or twenty and it becomes this
whole sucky thing. It's terrible.

Speaker 2 (19:27):
What was the part of the quote that he said
right before the part about there's more people losing than winning.

Speaker 1 (19:35):
Oh, he said, the enjoyment of the game isn't for
the game anymore, Okay, that people can make money.

Speaker 2 (19:40):
So while I agree with that to an extent, I
feel like it needs like these sports I mean for
the most part, maybe not the NFL, but these sports
need gambling. Oh yeah, because the newer generations like gen Z,
I just feel like army stimulants. They're they're not as

(20:02):
into sports as the you know, I feel like the
Millennials were like kind of the last you know, and
even then it's like kind of split, like uh, you know,
it's not the same type of fandom.

Speaker 1 (20:16):
It's not like the same obsession, like the same like
oh man, they're just like yeah, I'll catch the highlights
right right.

Speaker 2 (20:23):
It's not it's not the connection to the like where
you're you know, I'm the type of fan like where
and you know this is probably not healthy, but you know,
a bad game, a bad loss from the Broncos will
ruin my day.

Speaker 4 (20:38):
You know, like.

Speaker 3 (20:40):
You gamblers who are just playing on games, they don't care.

Speaker 2 (20:45):
We'll see if they don't care, they care about the money, money, yeah,
they it can ruin their their day, but they you know,
it's it's totally different.

Speaker 1 (20:54):
Yeah, it sucks. I hate it for the athletes because listen,
no one should be you know, talked to completely disrespectfully,
death threats, the whole. There was another story with Max Homer.
He's a golfer and he was talking about some of
the abuse that he faces and has to you know,
get off of social media, and there are all these

(21:15):
threats and it's just too much. There was Lance McCullers.
There's a Houston astros pitcher, So there was an intoxicated
better overseas that sent messages on social media threatening to
murder his family and him. Why well, because he had
a bad start. So you know, your family's got to go.

(21:36):
He has this bad start on a Tuesday night, wrecked
my parlay. I mean, everybody's got to go, you know,
one by one. Because I've never thought about that. Yeah
that's what happened.

Speaker 4 (21:46):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (21:47):
Crazy. But here's the thing though, this is the point
I want to make about all of this, because these
discussions turn into hey, because of betting, this is what's happening,
and it's like no, no, no, no, no, stop right there,
it's not because of betting that these things are happening.
It's because people are a holes, because they're psychotic. Yes,

(22:12):
that's why it's happening. So you can't fault betting, Like
there's just a disconnect. Put it this way. If if
somebody I don't know had too many drinks one night
and then did something crazy, you know, like let's keep
it as apples to apples as possible, they threatened to
murder a person and his entire family, right, you wouldn't

(22:38):
be like, well, alcohol, you know, if it wasn't for alcohol,
we'd be good. No, you would hold that person accountable.

Speaker 7 (22:46):
You would say that's not acceptable, dude, right, Like, so
it's not alcohol's fault, it's not betting's fault. It's the
fault of the idiots that don't know how to behave.

Speaker 1 (22:59):
That's the only thing I'm trying to say is, yeah,
just don't blame betting. Blame the person who can't handle betting.
That's the difference right there. But far too often I'm like, well,
I mean with betting, and just that's what Michael Porter
Junior said at the end, Like the whole sports gambling entity,

(23:19):
it's bad and it's only going to get worse. I
don't have a huge problem with that statement, but it's
it's sort of getting to the same old song and
dance where it's like, if not for betting, like we'd
be fine here. It's like, no, betting's not going anywhere.
They're making way too much money, like Coop is saying,
betting's going it's the bridge for a lot of people

(23:42):
to be more invested in these sports. So it's not
going anywhere. It's just like, until these people understand that's
not acceptable, I don't know how you get that in
their head. They're either punished in a way or listen.
I can relate to this in some sort of way,
like filling in, being a fill in radio host, and

(24:03):
I get it. But I told my mom, I'm like,
as weird as this sounds, there are a lot of
people that don't even think of you as a human being.
It's the truth, that's true. They're just you're this person
on the radio, and where's Ben, where's the guy Ben
doesn't do lists? And who's this filling guy doing list?

(24:23):
They hate you, that's all they think. They think, like
you're some something something to entertain me. They don't think beyond.
They don't think, hey, you've got a sister, you've got nephews,
you got a girlfriend, you got a neighborood cat, yeah
you got Oreo visits you. You're a human being, Like
they don't think like that. You're just this thing.

Speaker 2 (24:46):
Why are you doing this to me?

Speaker 1 (24:48):
Yeah? Yeah, right, Like that's what it is. So it's
the same concept with sports betting and these athletes that
pay a price for these idiots that are just like
I would have won twenty k and this moron can't
make two free throws. I'm gonna tweet him. It's just like, no, dude,
that's a human being. You don't do that. That's not okay,

(25:08):
not cool. And I don't know how we can get
people to think along those lines. It's either their plunge
severely enough where that sets in or it sinks in.
Well see.

Speaker 2 (25:20):
But I also think that there's such a fine thin
line and it's and it's really almost like arbitrary because
you know, I if that happens to me, right, I
lose something by what I'm doing the same thing. If
I'm not seeking the guy out and tagging him, but
I'm cursing him.

Speaker 1 (25:38):
You know, like, well, listen, man, if they don't know it,
then you know, well the tree falls in the woods,
you know, make it sound.

Speaker 2 (25:49):
Yeah, But that was gonna lead me to my next statement,
because I thought, Okay, well do I go on Twitter
and sometimes tweet it out not directly to them, but
just out into you.

Speaker 1 (25:59):
Know, into space or whatever. Yeah, And I.

Speaker 2 (26:02):
Thought, I'm like, you know, I've done that, like.

Speaker 1 (26:06):
You know, I mean, I.

Speaker 2 (26:08):
Don't know if it's necessarily because of a bed, but
I'm sure I have. But I just I was thinking
specifically after like game one or Game two or whatever,
I think I went, I tweeted out, and I was like, man,
Bonick sucks.

Speaker 1 (26:23):
Well listen that that to me is in a different category,
right Listen. If bon NICKX just goes on Twitter and hey,
let's see what people are talking about, Oh god, right,
yes exactly, that's yeah, that can suck. But if you're
literally adding him, you know, like you're dming him, right, Yo,
that's I think that's a completely different category where it's

(26:45):
not the coolest thing on earth just to even tweet
it out there. But it's not the same thing as
like literally you're basically texting them, you know, what I
mean like that, I don't think it's the same thing.
Maybe they're cousins, but I think they're distant cousins. I
don't think that's the same thing at all. But I
feel bad for the athletes. I'll tell you this, If
I was an athlete and had to deal with that,

(27:08):
I'd probably look at sports betting a lot more similarly
to how Michael Porter Junior looks at sports betting. He
probably looks at it think about it. So his brother
is banned for life because of sports betting. He gets
death threats. Sometimes it gets all these people like bro,
I needed two more points? What the hell? Can you
practice a little bit harder all the time? You'd be like,

(27:31):
oh my gosh, you guys collectively, just jump in a river. Please.
I don't want to hear from you ever again. So yeah,
i'd feel a certain type of way about it too.
I get it from his perspective, but I just don't
think you can get that twisted. It's not the fault
of sports betting. It's the fault of the people that
can't handle it and don't know how to treat y'all

(27:51):
need some mental health, Okay, that's right. Y'all need some manners,
is what you need.

Speaker 4 (27:55):
Right.

Speaker 1 (27:56):
We got Vic in La he was to tak gambling.
Let's go Vic on Fox Sports Radio. What's up?

Speaker 4 (28:02):
You know what. I'm not going to say that I
missed then, but I'm gonna do something in homage of
mister Maler. We're gonna start with Room number one Sports
is there we go, Luane, the sports dinner for the gambling.
You never, you know in the Roman times, So you're
talking about these guys getting heckled. Imagine being the sports
better they have to deal with those people taking their

(28:23):
losses inside of the damn stadium and it was no
where they went. Imagine that these guys are getting hundreds
of millions of dollars and they're talking about the hecklers.
And I can't really take Michael's opinion too much because
he's coming from a place, so, you know, dealing with
his siblings. But sports ben it for people to have
fun and gamble. It was never about these people getting paid.

(28:44):
That's whether you know the unionization, you know all the
you know how civilization comes about and things change and
get better and progress. But I cannot ever, ever, ever
have any type of alliance with their wining. The whole
thing is for us to have fun. It's not for
them to actually get paid only and think it thatig.

Speaker 1 (29:00):
Big dude, Like, are you saying it's okay to threaten
someone life if you don't hit your parlay and these
athletes just have to deal with it, like where are
you talking about?

Speaker 4 (29:09):
No, I just say it's not okay, but then to
complain to act like, you know, like they really got
to take stuff serious. But at the same time, it's
always been like that. But I would hope these guys
have enough money for security because I mean, it is
what it is, because I don't understand how they can
really not really take it seriously and at the same
time and people are really threatening them. I can't really

(29:29):
say that they're not being threatened. But as far as
what sports is actually invented for, it wasn't invented for
athletes to make a half a billion dollars. That was
not the input is point of the whole adventure. It
was always about gabling. I mean, you know that's rule
number one. Just wanted to see how you felt about that.

Speaker 1 (29:44):
I hear you, big Listen, thanks for checking in, man.
I just think, look, I get the point where, hey, listen,
there are some things that come with the territory as
a well known athlete, and a lot of those things
aren't great. Oh a lot of things. There are drawbacks.
They're drawbacks with every in life. But listen, I think
there are drawbacks that are reasonable, and that there are

(30:08):
drawbacks that it shouldn't even exist in the first place.
And I think death threats are one of those things
that should never exist. It shouldn't be like, Bro, you're
making thirty million dollars a year, so you get a
couple of death threats every couple of weeks. Just freaking
deal with it, you know what I mean. I don't
think it should be like that. That's just not acceptable,

(30:28):
and I don't think any athletes should have to deal
with that. And it's one of those that just comes
with the territory. I just I think that's a different
category where I can't believe something more isn't done about that.
How can you just go on social media and threaten
to kill someone and then just go to work on
Tuesday like nothing ever happened, Like, how is that the
way it works? It's insane to me. Look, I'll meet

(30:52):
you halfway vic like if you're shooting a free throw
and people are yelling all kinds of crazy things, you know,
within reason. It's a game. That's it happens, you know,
like that's that's the way it is. There are some
things that are not ideal, but that's just the way
it is, and most I think most athletes are reasonable
about it. If an athlete came out and said something

(31:14):
totally unreasonable, like, hey, you know, when I'm shooting a
free throw and I'm on the road, I would appreciate
it to be quiet there so I can concentrate.

Speaker 4 (31:24):
Like it.

Speaker 1 (31:25):
If an athlete came out and said something like that,
it's like, bro, you're not even being reasonable right now.
That's just not the way it works. But I think
it's totally reasonable for someone to come out, an athlete
that makes a lot of money and saying it's not
okay to just threaten my life or the life of
my family because I didn't come through. I had a
bad start as a picture, like come on, what are

(31:46):
we doing here? So no, I don't agree with that.
I just don't think that's one of those things like
hey man, spare me your tears. It comes with the territory.
I just think that's a completely different category.

Speaker 3 (31:57):
If you're gambling, it's a gamble. Okay, you don't know
what's gonna happen, and you can't get mad if it
doesn't turn out in your favor.

Speaker 1 (32:04):
Well, that's exactly right, that's totally it's gambling.

Speaker 3 (32:07):
If you want full payback, you got to go and
put your money down and get full money back.

Speaker 1 (32:12):
Yeah, don't do it at all, right, No, it's that's
the thing I remember, well a long time ago, just
popped into my head here with you saying that Lorena Lebron.
He might have been playing for the Calves at the time,
but he was playing a game I remember for sure
at Detroit and he sort of stopped the game and
he was talking to a heckling fan that was sitting

(32:34):
real close to the court, and he said something along
the lines of, hey, you can say anything you want
about me, have at it. Don't talk about my family
like that is out of bounds. You do not have
the right to do that, you know, don't even go there.
And the fan was kind of like, okay, you know,
completely backed down.

Speaker 3 (32:55):
Right right, and Ron just came up to you like that.

Speaker 1 (32:58):
Yeah, I think there, there are some reasonable no fly
zones as an athlete, and you can't just be like
that comes with the territory. You're gonna have to put
up with a lot of just stuff because you're in
the limelight, you're paid a lot of money. It's not ideal,
but it is what it is. I just don't think
death threats are one of those things that that's just

(33:18):
completely unreasonable for people to behave like that. It's not cool.
These low lives got to start behaving better. I mean, goodness,
deal with it. Stop acting like you're five. You know,
I listen. I'll be honest. I hate losing sports bets,
hate it, but I will never directly reach out to
an athlete that cost me a bet, cost me a win.

(33:42):
I might be like Coop, I might have, you know,
like a brief moment of insanity where I, you know,
I throw a mountain dew bottle at the TV ors
or whatever. You know, I'm not gonna seek them out directly.
I understand how people are comfortable doing that. That's crazy.
It's just wild. Man shouldn't be like that. What up next?
We'll go positive here right around the corner. I think

(34:03):
this is true love I'm Brian though in for Big
Ben Maller. Keep it locked here on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 5 (34:09):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Ben Meller
Show weekdays at two am Eastern eleven pm Pacific.

Speaker 1 (34:15):
It is Fox Sports Radio. I'm Brian no In for
Big Ben Maler. Are you a swiftye? Lorena?

Speaker 3 (34:23):
Not as hardcore as you might think?

Speaker 1 (34:26):
Okay, but you're I know her songs, you know, you know,
you know the highlights right, yes, of course. And I
do enjoy her.

Speaker 3 (34:34):
Yeah, I enjoy her as an artist. I think she's
very talented. I think she's one of the better artists
that I would let my daughter listen to.

Speaker 1 (34:40):
Okay, nice, so you know, thumbs up, like one thumbs up,
not two thumbs up.

Speaker 3 (34:47):
I'm not going to go to a concert. I'm not
going to make friendship bracelets. And she's not on my
top artist play I don't even think she's on my
like YouTube playlist. That song that she has with Post
Malone is on there, Okay, but uh yeah, she's not
in my regulars.

Speaker 1 (35:02):
Okay, you leave that for like the metal bands and
all that type of thing. Thank you, Yeah, yeah, I
hear you. I know I had a hard rap I
love hard wrap. All right, good well? Uh Taylor Swift.
She was on the New Heights podcast, and I'll tell
you what I think. We're incredibly cynical in this day
and age. And some of it makes sense from case

(35:23):
from from you know, from time to time it makes
a lot of sense. I don't think this is one
of those times. She was talking about becoming obsessed with
football because of her boyfriend Travis Kelsey checked this out forever.

Speaker 4 (35:35):
Thankful for you diving into the football world.

Speaker 8 (35:38):
Oh my god, I fell in love with it. I
became obsessed with it. I became like a person who
was running through the halls of my house screaming we
dropped it exavior worthy.

Speaker 1 (35:48):
And my friends are like, what is who? Body snatched you?

Speaker 5 (35:52):
This is?

Speaker 6 (35:53):
This?

Speaker 4 (35:53):
Is it?

Speaker 1 (35:54):
What do you mean? Shout out to Taylor Swift. Are
you kids? That's true love right there. That's awesome. It's
her guy. She's supporting her guy his passion as football.

Speaker 2 (36:04):
She should be.

Speaker 3 (36:05):
Should be into gambling with you too, you know, like
your passions are their passions and even if they're an
active player, like this isn't just your man rooting for
a team. Your man is on the team. You know
what I'm saying, Right, you don't just wrap the colors,
you wrap the man.

Speaker 1 (36:22):
So yeah, she's going home with him all the time.

Speaker 3 (36:24):
Of course she's going to be in this mode of
gimme the football. You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (36:29):
You know what's happened to me? My girl is amazing,
But this has happened with you saying that, Lorena. So
we've gone to games before, and I'll be betting. We
went to Summer League. You know, Summer League was in Vegas.
So we went to a couple of games and I'm like,
I'm on whatever team. I'm on the Utah Jazz. This game,
she's rooting for the other team. Oh, I'm like, I

(36:51):
just told you I have the Utah Jazz. She's like,
that's fine. I like the Grizzlies. I want the Grizzlies
to win or whatever. What's up with that?

Speaker 3 (37:00):
Unless it's playful.

Speaker 1 (37:01):
It was not. She's just literally rooting for the other time.
I'm like, but I'm betting on no nothing.

Speaker 3 (37:08):
No, you don't use those winnings on her, you know,
don't take her to dinner with those gambling winnings.

Speaker 1 (37:13):
That's the way to do it. I'm gonna cash out
and just like wave them. You see this this is
not yours? Yeah, mine.

Speaker 2 (37:21):
Yeah, See, my wife has found a loophole because she'll
like like she's she's now in the I don't know
if I think I told you this, but she's now
in the confidence pool that we yeah. Yeah, And so
she and I've known this because you can look at
the other people's picks after the week's over, she will

(37:42):
pick like against the Broncos. I never pick against the Broncos, Like,
even if I think they're gonna lose, I just put
like one or two points on them. Yeah, And she
picks against them all the time. But to her credit,
and this is how she gets away with it. When
we're watching the game, she'll still root for the Broncos

(38:02):
even if she's got like points on the other team.

Speaker 1 (38:05):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (38:06):
And then if the Broncos lose, like just she keeps
it to herself. Inside, she's probably like, yeah, I.

Speaker 1 (38:14):
But that's cool though. She respects your team. Yeah, that's
pretty cool. Yeah. For the most part, you know, my
girl can do whatever she wants. There are probably a
couple I couldn't have her rooting against Notre Dame, could
not have you know the Irish you're playing big time
college football game. I could not take that where she's
rooting for someone. But yeah, I love the Dolphins. I've

(38:34):
always loved the Dolphins. And when she was picking her
NFL team, I'm like, pick anybody, literally, and she chose
the Raidas and I was like, bad choice. But you know,
have ad it like have that experience a lot of losing.
But the best colors in football by far easily, So
you'll look nice, You'll have some good outfits. There's one
more from Taylor Swift.

Speaker 8 (38:55):
Check this out cover two, cover, four covers, zero man cover.
We're talking, We're we're learning. I continue to learn.

Speaker 4 (39:02):
Maybe somebody else that even know what those coverages are.

Speaker 8 (39:05):
I'm not ready to be an analyst right now, but
give me sixteen months.

Speaker 1 (39:13):
Come on, te Swift breaking down coverages. I love. This
is outstanding. You know the letter do it well? Yeah,
you know the let her do it. That's the thing is,
I don't think this is fake at all. I I don't.
I think that she's into it. She's into the relationship.
You know, so not everything.

Speaker 3 (39:34):
Did you like their eye contact the whole time?

Speaker 1 (39:37):
You know, there's just some good eye contact there. Unbelievable, believable.
You know, there was a have you seen the Kingdom?
It's it just came out, I think on Thursday. It's
like this new documentary about the Chiefs. There's nothing else on,
so I was watching me. I haven't watched that yet.

Speaker 2 (39:52):
I want to.

Speaker 1 (39:52):
It's pretty good, not bad. You know what I want, though,
I want the documentary that's raw, you know you're talking about.
I want to know about the star players shortcomings, about
his mistakes, he talks openly about it. The team does.
I don't want this. Let's put this team on a pedestal.
I want the real you know. I want a documentary

(40:13):
that comes out like that coming up next. Number one
isn't in the top five.
