Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, thanks for listening to the Ben Maler Show podcast.
Speaker 2 (00:03):
It's me Ben.
Speaker 1 (00:03):
Be sure to catch us live every weeknight from two
to six Eastern eleven pm to three am Pacific right
here on Fox Sports Radio. You can find your local
station for the Benmalers Show over at Foxsports Radio dot com,
or stream us live every night on the iHeartRadio app
by searching FSR.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Oh what is going on?
Happy Friday morning too. You hope all is well? Helpe
Christmas Day was fantastic for you. For over forty years,
ty Iraq has been helping customers find the right tires
for how, what and where they drive, ship fast and
free back by free road hazard protection with convenient installation
(00:47):
options like mobile tire installation ti rack dot com. The
way tire buying should be all right. So I'd love
to be spreading Christmas cheer in these early morning hours,
but uh, man, man, I don't have a dose of
Christmas cheer right now. I've got a dose of reality.
(01:08):
And man, I'm not going to redo the exact same segment,
but I have to touch on bits and pieces of
it again because there's new information. There is new news
new developments if you will. So I had this thought
that Lamar Jackson last game against the Patriots with a
(01:33):
back contusion, a back bruise. Okay, you got to get
back in that game. You got to get back in
the game in the second half. You got to find
a way. You've got a bruise. You're day to day
with a bruise. So the cliffs notes version of that is, look,
if he gets back in that game, it changes everything.
Speaker 3 (01:55):
Now.
Speaker 2 (01:55):
Granted, they built a lead, they led by eleven points,
even with their backup quarter back Tyler Huntley in there.
Huntley didn't do anything specially. He had nine completions for
sixty five yards. It was like the bow Knicks dink
and dunk, right, it was a dink and dunk special.
But if Lamar Jackson is in there, maybe they build
a bigger lead. Maybe they build the same lead. But
(02:17):
guess what, Lamar Jackson just being in the game, he
affects a defense much differently than Snoop Huntley does. He
is a bigger threat. Even just the mere presence of
threatening the defense affects the defense. And so he's gotta
find a way to get back on the football field.
(02:38):
And he didn't and the Ravens dropped that game, and
now they need help. They don't even control their path
to the playoffs. They need the Steelers to lose to
the Browns this weekend or they are done. And they
also before we even get to Sunday's game with the Steelers,
the Ravens have to win on Saturday. Are there. Season
(03:00):
is a rap? It is over. So it's a gotsa
have it game for the Ravens at the Packers. And
now we get the new information. So okay, day to
day with the bone bruise, a back bruise, Lamar should
be good to go. Well, think again, He's missing practice
left and right this week. He's the only player not
(03:21):
to practice on Wednesday, the only Ravens player not out there.
And the new information is that Lamar is listed as
doubtful for Saturday night's game at Green Bay. If he
can't go, well, it's Tyler Huntley again. Get the Tyler
Huntley Show instead of Lamar Jackson. I don't know what
(03:45):
to say, man, I really don't. Again, I'm not acting
like it feels good, like he's like, ah my back
feels amazing. He took a knee to the back. It's painful.
I get that, but it's a bruise and your season
is hanging by a thread. You have to beat the
(04:06):
Packers or your season is over. Even if you beat
the Packers, you have to have the Steelers beat the
Browns the next day or your season is over. That's
a result of the Ravens not beating the Patriots, and
so for Lamar Jackson to not get back in that game,
(04:26):
that Sunday night game they desperately needed against the Patriots
with a back bruise and now listed as doubtful most
likely not playing against the Packers with a back bruise,
it's indefensible. It just is. There are twenty quarterbacks in
(04:46):
the NFL today that would be playing, no question about it,
with the exact same injury, somewhat similar playing styles. So
I just don't get it, man, I don't get it.
And he's gutted his way through multiple injuries this season.
That's what I don't get. He's gutted through a knee, calf, ankle,
(05:10):
he's had hamstring, He's had a lot of injuries that
he's gutted through. He's not cutting through this one. I
just don't understand it. Now it's not the same injury, okay,
but the concept is the same. I did mention this
a couple of nights ago, but I didn't have the audio.
I went back and got the audio for you. So
this goes back to the two thousand and six season
(05:33):
the Colts. Eventually, you won a Super Bowl that year
and they beat the Bears. But anyway, en route to that,
it was the AFC Championship game. They're hosting the Patriots
and Peyton Manning got banged up. You're hearing the audio.
He's throwing this pass and he hits his thumb on
(05:56):
a Patriots player's helmet. They knew it was in bad shape, right,
and so you'll hear Peyton Manning. There's music underneath this.
It's from America's Game on NFL Network, tremendous show. You'll
hear in the audio Peyton Manning's explaining this injury and
almost very philosophical, almost like poetic, if you will. He's
(06:18):
weighing do I stay in the game and maybe hurt
the team, or do I do I leave and maybe
that's gonna help the team a little bit more. Hey,
Jim Sorgy, warm up, buddy. And that's where Jeff Saturday
the center is like, whoa time out? What's happening, Sorgy? No, No, Peyton,
you gotta suck it up, baby, you gotta find a
(06:39):
way to get back on the football field. That's basically
what's going on here. And so you can understand where
I'm coming from. It ties to Lamar Jackson. Granted we're
talking about a back bruise with Lamar, a thumb injury
with Peyton Manning, but it's Peyton Manning's right thumb on
his throwing hand completely affecting his game. And when he
(07:02):
was thinking about man, maybe I should just I should
let the backup go in there, That's when he gutted
it out and the Colts benefited from that. That's what
has to happen with Lamar as well. Here's the audio
I'm talking about. It starts off with Peyton Manning AFC
Title Game six season against the Patriots. Here it's his
thumb and you got to hear the payoff at the
(07:23):
end with Jeff Saturday. I just love this audio.
Speaker 4 (07:25):
Check it out and doing whatever I can to complete
this pass. And I got down the left sideline out
and Pullack come right down the helmet I know right away,
said this is not good. The fingernail had bent back,
so I was, you know, sucking the blood off my
off my hand.
Speaker 2 (07:41):
I try to throw a.
Speaker 4 (07:42):
Couple on just ugly, ugly looking tastes. I'm asking myself
what's fair to the team. You know what if I
get out there and Reggie Wayne's wide open, I want
to hop it to him because of my thumb. That's
selfish on my part. So I tell Sorgie. I said,
(08:02):
I said, get ready, and.
Speaker 2 (08:04):
I was like, wait a minute, hold on, man, we're
in that. We're in the chaps. You game more tied,
and I lived. I was like, brother, you gotta go,
right Like that's the that's the most important part at
the end, Like, brother, you gotta go. You gotta find
a way to suck it up and get out there.
This is football, okay, Like can you somehow some way
(08:28):
get out there? Could other players with the same injury
somehow find a way to get out there? If they can,
then you can, right, Like that's what it comes down to.
Would Josh Allen, the Bills quarterback, be out there with
a back bruise? Hell yes, he would, Like are you
(08:48):
it's not even a question so if other players would
get out there, why is Lamar not getting out there?
He should have been out there against the Patriots last game.
He should be out there the next game against the Packers.
And with him being listed as doubtful, that's exactly what
it means. It almost means out doubtful is the kissing
cousin to out not playing? And it's like, bro, again,
(09:14):
he's day to day. This isn't oh man, We're talking
about six weeks recovery timetable. And he's like, you know,
what the hell with it. I'm just gonna get out
there and gut it out. It's like, whoa, dude, that's radical.
He's day to day and he's doubtful. What the hell?
Speaker 5 (09:32):
Man?
Speaker 2 (09:33):
Like, I just can't even defend it. TJ Watt. TJ
Watt just had surgery on a partially collapsed lung. He's
practicing this week. He's trying to get out there against
the Browns. Like, does this think about that the division
comes down to the Steelers and the Ravens. You've got
DJ Watt rush end right, partially collapsed lung, just had surgery.
(10:00):
He's practicing, He's on course to be playing this Sunday.
Lamar Jackson day to day with the bruise, missed the
second half against the Patriots, doubtful against the Packers. What
the hell? I don't even know what to say about that.
By the way, on a lighter note, how about that
vampire Peyton Manning just sucking his own dumb blood? How
(10:23):
about that? Okayon vent the nail back of he gotta
you know, yeah, gotta do some maintenance over here. But yeah,
by the way, shout out I don't want to be
too negative, but shout out to Cape Cod paper boy.
He came up with the right names, right. I couldn't
think off the top of my head. Our girl Andrea
(10:44):
and Berkeley her cats. So she had Diva, d e Va.
She did mention that I remember that, and Dove. I
forgot Dove. How dare I forget Dove? How could I
forget a cat named Dove? You know, it's not good,
not good. Gotta step it up in the memory department.
Many other things happened on Christmas Day. One thing that
(11:07):
I haven't mentioned at all. I want to get to
right around the corner, the last occurrence. You know, you
had the last dance with the Chicago bulls right the documentary.
Outstanding job they did with that one, except for you know,
let me digress for a second. I was let me
combine two things on the fly. I was just talking
(11:31):
about Maleik Neighbors, Giants wide receiver, and so he's doing
this I Hop commercial and he's making fun of himself. Right,
he got hurt early in the season, and so the
joke is that he lost some people their fantasy football leagues. Right,
(11:52):
that's the joke. And so the tie in with I
Hop is some bets that are paid off. You got
to stay in ie hop or waffle house for twenty
four hours, can't leave, And so they came up with
this bottomless pancakes thing at ihop. So it's a promotion
for that, and in turn, Molik Neighbors is making fun
of himself for being hurt most of the season, and
(12:14):
I think that's great. Like a lot of people are like, whoa, whoa. Oh.
I don't want to be associated with that. It's negative.
It makes me look bad, like, oh, Malik Neighbors, you
made me lose my fantasy league. Like no one wants
to be known like that. But Malik Neighbors was like,
it's funny. It's not that bad. It's harmless. But the
point is when I mentioned the last Dance, the only
(12:34):
thing about the Last Dance that was lame is that
Michael Jordan had full control over that thing and he
wasn't going to let hardly anything out that made him
look bad, you know. So it's sort of like, how
could I paint myself in the best life light piece?
You know at ten part this is Michael Jordan in
(12:56):
the NBA, and Wow, what a superstar and wow this
and wow that. And I want the documentary that is
like the Maleik Neighbor's IHOP commercial where Malik Neighbors is
making fun of himself. He's casting himself in a unfavorable light,
if you will. He's drawing attention to the fact he
(13:19):
was hurt most of the year and he was the
reason that some people lost their Fantasy League, right like that.
I think it's respectable, it's being real, But I want
the documentary where someone has full control and they tell
stories that make that person look bad. They're like, yeah,
(13:40):
oh yeah, let let that story be known of the
time where I did something wrong, the time where I
made a terrible choice. Let's go in great detail about
that instead of Oh wow, what a superstar and look
at him glide through the air and wow, like everybody
wanted his autograph in it. Instead of that, how about
the real stuff? How about the man I gambled millions
(14:01):
of dollars away? Man that that one night in Vegas?
What a disaster? What the hell was I thinking? Here
are all the details of that. That's what I want.
I want that documentary. I want the Malik Neighbors ihop
commercial as the next Netflix doc That's what I want.
I want the real thing. I want an athlete with
full control over what gets out, what's publicized, and they're
(14:26):
just like, here's the real here's everything that went on.
Whether it makes me look good, whether it makes me
look like the biggest idiot on the face of the earth,
that's what I want. I want someone with full control
that just gives you the whole story. I might be
waiting for quite a while, but that's exactly what I want.
But the Malik Neighbors thing, it gives me hope, gives
me hope that someone out there might be real enough
(14:48):
to be like, here's the whole story, and a lot
of it doesn't make me look good. I want to
see that. I want to see that coming up in
the not too distant future. Okay, eight seven seven ninety
nine on Fox, I do see a regular is poking
around the corner right here. We'll get to uh the
militia coming up next. And also, man, there was a
(15:14):
probable goodbye the last installment, the last dance, if you
will for a brilliant player. We will get to that
right around the corner. I'm Brian no In for Big
Ben Maller. Keep it locked right here on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 5 (15:29):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Ben Maller
Show weekdays at two am Eastern eleven pm Pacific on
Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 2 (15:39):
Polly Foods Go here with Tony Foodsco.
Speaker 5 (15:41):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (15:41):
As everybody knows, we're the hosts of the award winning
Polly and Tony Foodsco Show.
Speaker 7 (15:45):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (15:45):
But instead of us telling you how great we are,
here's how Dan Patrick described us when he came on
our show.
Speaker 2 (15:51):
Quick, knowledgeable and funny, opinionated, what are you doing interrupting
our promo? Yeah, he wasn't talking about you. You took
those up totally out of context.
Speaker 6 (16:02):
Oh yeah, Well, after this promo. I'm gonna take you
out and beat you. Let me put this into context.
Speaker 2 (16:08):
Shut up.
Speaker 6 (16:08):
Yeah, anyway, just listen to the Paully Atoni Fusco Show
on IoT Radio, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.
Speaker 2 (16:14):
Yea, it is Fox Sports Radio. I'm probably though in
for Big Ben Malor. Every goal starts with an assist
on and off the field. That's why Haleyon and US
Soccer are launching for the Assist, a celebration of everyday
acts of support that help people achieve their goals with
(16:35):
iconic brands like Centsidine, Tom's, Voltairian advil Encentrum. To learn more,
go to haley on assist dot com. You think you
know me right here? You go get polled by Mary
right there. Mary's on it. Mary's not scared. She'll play
the edge in bono little U two actions. She'll go
straight to edge, not the edge, just edge like that
(16:59):
collectic right there. Maybe some slayer on deck, I don't know,
we'll see. Yeah. Travis Kelcey. Travis Kelcey as a boys
to men situation the end of the road. It's funny
because listen, he's been a brilliant player, been a fantastic
player for a long, long, long time. And the way
(17:23):
the Prime Video crew was handling it, they're like, this
could be his final home it's his final home game.
Like's it's just that's what it is. Okay, We're we're
like a week removed. Remember on his podcast, there was
a story where you might have heard the SoundBite where
he's talking to his brother Jason Kelce. He's like, look, man,
(17:46):
I'm just I'm searching for answers and I can't find anything. Right, Like,
he knows he's done. He knows he's not the same
brilliant player he once was. He's lost a couple of steps.
And when a player is as good as Travis Kelsey
has been throughout his career, when he's lost a couple
(18:08):
of steps, he knows it's time. And beyond that, just
look at the freaking guy's life, right, Like he he
jokingly he had a press conference and he handles it great.
You know, he just rolls with the punches very well.
And then he jokingly said during the press conference, He's like, man,
if I could just win Powerball, I wouldn't have to
(18:29):
work again. And it's like, uh, you hit Powerball, And
then some like you're you're engaged to Taylor Swift. Man,
Like that's that's powerball, that's powerball and human form right there?
Are you kidding me? Like he had a Grand Slam,
So yeah, it's time to enjoy life. Man, he's not
(18:49):
the same player he once was. He's older, all those
hits accumulating over many many years. You're engaged to Taylor Swift.
You both combine have more money than you could ever
spend in life. Like, it's just time to enjoy life,
you know, Like that's what's gonna happen. And you could
(19:10):
tell during you know, the game on Christmas Night against
the Broncos, he's just soaking it in. You know, you
could just tell he's he's kind of like enjoying the
anthem a little bit more, kind of looking at the
crowd a little bit more, waving to the crowd. Way
he walks off the field a little bit more, you
know what I mean, Like he knows that he's got
to walk away. He knows it's time. And I get
(19:33):
the competitor and all of us, you'd want one last ride.
You don't want this to be the final season. Think
about the you know, the documentary I was just talking
about the last dance was the nineteen ninety eight season
for the Chicago Bulls. What a way to go out?
You kidding me? You go out winning a sixth championship.
(19:55):
That's the way to go out. That's sensational. That's like
a storybook d going out like six and eleven or
seven and ten, best case scenario. That's not going out
on top. And that's really really difficult for Travis Kelcey,
and I know you start thinking, you know, you give
it a little bit of time. You get into the
(20:16):
off season and your body starts feeling better and you're like, man,
what a story it would be. Mahomes comes back from
the torn acl we come back from a disastrous season,
losing record, and we're the same Chiefs again. We're back
in the super Bowl, we're winning it all. Then I
(20:36):
go out on top. You know, like anybody would love
to think that way, but if you're thinking realistically, it's
like the Chiefs have a lot of work to do
to get back to where they once were, and the
toll on your body and the beating you've taken over
the years and not being the same player. If you're
(20:56):
just honest with yourself, No one wants to be a
lesser version of themselves, like a noticeably lesser version of themselves.
And that's what Travis Kelce is right now. He knows that.
So that was his final home game. Make no mistake
about it. As tempting as it would be to commit
to a full season, that's not going to happen. I
(21:17):
do wonder, I wonder if we're going to see a
little bit more. I thought this would happen with Gronk.
I was wrong, but I was convinced we would see
this with Gronk when he stepped away, when he like
quote unquote retired, I was like, yeah, okay, he'll be
back for the stretch run of the regular season. He'll
be back for a playoff run for sure. And that
(21:37):
never happened. Never happened. Now we are seeing well, I
don't know. We almost saw it with It was the
Lions center Frank rag Now, remember he came out of retirement,
he was going to come back, and then he failed
as physical and he was no longer back. But it
(21:57):
starts to get the wheels right, like, is this going
to become a little bit more normal, not the norm
where it happens left and right, but a little bit
normal where you know a player like Travis Kelcey, instead
of playing the entire season, does he he just comes
back and uh, let's call it week fifteen. We've got
(22:20):
a four week ramp up for the playoffs. Weeks fifteen, sixteen,
seventeen eighteen. Get four games under your belt. You're ready
for a postseason run. Do you start to see that
a little bit more often? Is never gonna become commonplace
where it's just happening left and right and not like that,
But here and there a little more often I could
(22:40):
see it. I don't even think that's gonna happen with
Travis kelce So watch that will happen? You know, I
thought it would definitely happen with Gronk. It didn't happen.
I don't think it'll happen with Travis Kelcey. It will
happen somehow, some way. No, I don't think so. I
think we're the last game for Travis kelce will be
next week. That's my hunch. Hey, but time will tell
if that's correct or not. I'll get to a tweet
(23:04):
that was very eye opening to me. In just a second.
We got the Mala militia here wanting to check in though.
Very nice, and I'll get back to Kelsey. I just
saw look at the look at the crew hard at work.
We've got some Travis Kelcey sound. We'll get to that momentarily. First, though,
we've got my guy Marcel in Brooklyn. He's with us
this morning. What's going on, Marcel? You're on Fox Sports
(23:27):
Radio Mary.
Speaker 5 (23:28):
After Christmas, mister Brian No.
Speaker 2 (23:32):
Man, same to you, Marcela. I hope you had a
great Christmas day, buddy.
Speaker 5 (23:35):
Oh, thank you so much. Same as you and your
Fox Sports Radio family. I hope, my friend, that you
vote for me in next year's Betty's after the defeated
Blind Scott, Mike the idiot con He's a failure. He's
my total enemy. And of course Mike and Louhampshire and
(23:55):
Blair in Maine, four New England villains all in one.
I'm a true book by night and they don't respect me,
and I will you, mister Brian No, Mary and Brianna
are going to respect me too.
Speaker 2 (24:12):
Well, we definitely respect you. How could we not respect you? Marcel?
Speaker 5 (24:16):
Oh? The four New England villains, they don't respect me.
They interrupting my calls. They stole. They sling the calls
as well on your show, as well as the Big
Chap colleagues. Just ignore them. They are the new England
villains all in nothing.
Speaker 2 (24:38):
I didn't realize it was getting this personal, Marcel. This
is the real thing, man. This is like you know,
nWo versus the World or something like this. What you're
doing here.
Speaker 5 (24:46):
Actually the WWE, the nWo versus the WWE. There are
the two you may or the both of them. The
main events taking place anytime soon anyways, me everybody infinite. Meantime,
let's do some Friday Christmas after food picks. It's going
to be a new Don and it's going to be
(25:07):
a new day. So let's get into it. And we
got a liner's standing by as always to play along
with us. So who's gonna be If not, I'm gonna
pass to you, Brian. Okay, So we got line three
to one to play along.
Speaker 2 (25:25):
So if not pass, okay, you mean to take over here, Marcel,
I got a guess if you need me.
Speaker 5 (25:34):
Okay, Brian, let's say start with you.
Speaker 2 (25:37):
Okay, you had to go with a Christmas Day staple.
You had to have some ham, you had some Christmas Day.
Ham is what you dined on, Marcel. That's my guest.
Speaker 5 (25:49):
Ah, yes, and I give you the ham. The mixed match.
It is my friends for the second time in a row,
just like Ben does ham. It is what do you
have for Christmas? From yesterday?
Speaker 2 (26:07):
He said? What did you have?
Speaker 3 (26:08):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (26:08):
What do you think? He ate?
Speaker 4 (26:09):
Mary?
Speaker 2 (26:09):
What's your guest for Marcel?
Speaker 5 (26:11):
There?
Speaker 2 (26:13):
Uh, you can never go wrong. Christmas cookies, Christmas cookies,
sugar Okay, there you go, little sugar cookie.
Speaker 5 (26:19):
Action bookies, rocking around a Christmas cookie tree.
Speaker 2 (26:23):
Yeah, not bad.
Speaker 5 (26:25):
Not a mixed match. It is Mary, but thank you though,
Brianna my friend.
Speaker 2 (26:31):
Okay, noodles and noodles and pepperoni pizza with sliced hollowpennos,
some truffle oil and mushrooms.
Speaker 5 (26:39):
Oh, not a mixed match. It is Brianna. Thank you
for that, my friend, No problem, don't worry about it.
And Brian smile. You gonna say trumble please?
Speaker 2 (26:55):
Hammit is daring it You get to have some ham.
It's Christmas Day, Hey, Marcel, you had to have ham, righto.
Speaker 5 (27:04):
Just like Doctor Susan's Green eggs and ham and ham.
It is for the perfect Christmas holiday tradition, and I
have to say it's one of the favorites in the
history oh my segments on Fox Sports Radio on Mondays,
Wednesdays and Fridays. It's a great tradition.
Speaker 2 (27:25):
Wow, good stuff, Marcel, very well done, buddy.
Speaker 5 (27:28):
It's great to be back. And I really miss you guys. Instead,
I just going on in my mind right now. Just
sleep early, wake up late. That's not the case, but
I try to sleep up early. But it's gonna be
a waking up early as always, just like you guys.
Speaker 2 (27:47):
There you go, Marcell, enjoy the day, man, appreciate hearing
from you.
Speaker 5 (27:51):
Thank you very much. Great to be back on Fox
Sports Radio. And once again, merry after Christmas and a
long New Year ago. And Brian, my friend, you're gonna
steal with Ben from next week, aren't you.
Speaker 3 (28:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (28:04):
I'll be in a couple of nights next week. Yeah,
early in the week, I'll be here. Boom boom, let's go,
let's get into it. That's how I'm gonna start the
next one. Mo'm just gonna steal your material, Marcel. No,
if I do that, I'll shout you out. But good stuff.
There he is, Marcel, the one and only very good stuff.
All right, let's go to Jet who fled. Let's get
(28:26):
Jet in here, my guy, Jed, you're on Fox Sports radio.
What's going on in these early morning hours.
Speaker 3 (28:31):
The first thing you'd see me do with enter of
the ring wearing a new England's Villain shirt out five
and everybody I build their trust. If they turned their backs,
I'd rip the shirt open. I'd have a t Marcel.
Speaker 8 (28:40):
Showed on and I sit them on the back with
a chair.
Speaker 3 (28:42):
Good for you, Marcel, and I'd be god, god dam
And I didn't. I did say a whole kagans of
speech with Randy or macho man range, savages, tone, you
know what I'm saying. If it didn't make my third week,
that would be very very important. I like the I
like people answering the phones. Tonight. I didn't feel like
there was nobody condescending to me, like, hey, I'm famous.
I'm famous when I was younger, his bow down and
(29:03):
so I would really like that even as a young child.
Mind we all know whenever Mom ties to round us up.
I don't know if y'all had the county fairs, I'll
probably raised you know, urban raising out and the rule raising.
When you get the County fair, mom talks around you
up in the night's over, you throw the biggest ifty
kid you can. Nobody likes to see the end of anything,
but Travis Kelson needs to just get with the get
(29:24):
with the program, because there's there's I mean, I could
be tacky or corny, but like we.
Speaker 8 (29:28):
Are never ever ever getting back together. That's him in
the super Bowl Trophy, all right, or about this is
why we can't have nice things like separation from righte
factors would be good. Or you don't know kids, And
that's talking to Patrion Ronalds right now.
Speaker 3 (29:41):
That's what I think. That's what I think. And hey,
that's pretty I mean, And dude, I'm in the South.
Speaker 8 (29:44):
We'll go, We'll go.
Speaker 3 (29:45):
We're going to vessels.
Speaker 5 (29:45):
Do there.
Speaker 3 (29:46):
You're working for all that corn. That's what we got
to do. We're playing corn now. The last thing, fine,
I appreciate you getting over there. I don't know how
to follow morsels, so I'm just gonna keep trying to
do my best and and em plugging along.
Speaker 8 (29:55):
I actually, dude, start on whole tell me vis on
hold it's Christmas.
Speaker 3 (30:01):
Dude, tell me glind Scontone hold, I don't.
Speaker 2 (30:04):
Yeah, I don't think so.
Speaker 8 (30:05):
Yeah, Chan calls over the hole on the whole system.
Speaker 3 (30:09):
Do never mind. That's a good time, all right. So
I just want to know this. I'm not dissing any
of your coworkers. But I looked the other night when
I saw who was on Vince Splot on the weekends,
and dude, I wrote, very very volge. I had drafts
of very vulgar letters to the Fox Sports radio people,
but I think I saw this. You were you have
to share your airtime with other people doing Bernie Fratto
gets undivided airtime. That is a strange world in my opinion. Dude,
(30:32):
that's very strange world. Would I give Ernie Fratto any airtime?
Speaker 5 (30:36):
Brian?
Speaker 2 (30:37):
No, they they good. Good to hear from you, Jed.
I do love the line of you know, we can't
have nice things like separation from linebackers. That was a
great line. That was a fantastic line from Jed. Who
fled and I will tell you Bernie's my guy. I
love Bernie. I went to grab some food with Bernie
(30:59):
a couple of times when I was in Vegas. He's
over there in Vegas. Great, dude, great too, very nice
and yeah, we're gonna meet at south Point. We're gonna
grab a well I always eat a blt at this
deli that we've gone to, But the rodeo was in town,
so we had to go to Denny's. There you go,
there's my Bernie Frattos story for you. We went to
Denny's the last time across from south Point because there
(31:23):
was nowhere to park. The rodeo was in town and
there were ten thousand people in, you know, like cowboy hats,
so so Denny's it was absolutely hey. For over forty years,
tire rack has been helping customers find the right tires
for how, what and where they drive, ship fast and free,
backed by free road hazard protection with convenient installation options
(31:43):
like mobile tire installation tire rack dot com The way
tire buying should be. Okay, a tweet that kind of
blew my mind. So this guy, Zane Danini, I get.
I think I'm not trying to be cute. I don't
I not pronounce his name, but he used to be
a stats researcher at ESPN. Anyway, you put together a
(32:05):
brilliant tweet. I love how he put this together. Is
talking about the Denver Broncos. And again, I love my
guy Justin Cooper. Probably good that he's not in this
morning because it's negative towards Broncos and he would probably
just start raging against everybody in his general vicinity after
hearing this. But it's true. The Denver Broncos have almost
(32:26):
lost to the two and thirteen Giants, the two and
thirteen Raiders, the three and twelve Jets, the four and
twelve Commanders, and now the Chris Ola Docan Chiefs. I'm
having a hard time with his name, Ola Docan. They
almost lost to him. At least it was the tie
(32:48):
game late they scored the Broncos scored a touchdown in
the final two minutes, close game, close game. So those
five games the Broncos won by a combined fourteen points
against teams with two wins, two wins, three wins, four wins,
and what the Chiefs have six wins? That's wow.
Speaker 1 (33:09):
Man.
Speaker 2 (33:10):
Hard to buy the Broncos going forward. I just don't.
But earlier in the show, I told you it's hard
to lock the door on them. They've got a chance
to be the one seed in the AFC playoffs, and
if you have to win two home games to get
to the super Bowl. Hey, man, they at least have
a shot. I don't like them at all, they at
(33:31):
least have a shot. It's a weird world we're living
in this season. If there's any like mediocre team that
has a shot, like a legitimate shot of getting hot
at the right time getting to the super Bowl. Man,
it is this season. You don't have My Homes and
the Chiefs, you don't have some of the usual suspects.
It's wide open. I can't wait for the playoffs. We
(33:53):
do have some Travis kelce audio, the crew hard at work,
the staff hard at work giving you the audio you
need a little bit of Travis Kelsey's thoughts after the game.
Check this out.
Speaker 7 (34:04):
I think the integrity of being a man about your
your work and and and giving everybody, uh your you're
devoted attention and you know, your sense of urgency to
to be at your best for them. I think that's
that's just how you need to go about work, whether
or not you're in the race or not, you know,
And I think that's, uh, that's the mentality going into
(34:26):
these last three games is you know, we know what
kind of ends after that New Year's game or the
game right after New Year's in January. And but I'm
gonna make sure these guys know that I'm out there
giving them everything I got.
Speaker 2 (34:40):
Yeah, it's it's probably the last time Travis Kelsey is
going to be on a football field next week, which
is pretty wild. Man, brilliant career and respectable what he's
saying right there, You know, like you just don't go
through the motions just because we're out of the playoffs
and who cares? And no, man, you're a pro. You
you end given everything that you have and hopefully we
(35:01):
have a final good game and go out on top
as best he can with what turned out to be
a disastrous season and a losing season. But we'll see
how he plays next week. But that's my guess, is
that's it. I just don't think that's a hot take
at all. I think the handwriting's on the wall, not
the player used to be, not the team it used
to be either. And now he has this girl on
(35:24):
his arm named Taylor Swift, So I mean, retirement here
we come. You know, it just couldn't be more clear,
all right? Coming up next, we close the showdown in
style one of the funniest sound bites I heard on
Christmas Day. I'll share that with you. And then also, man,
I get really nervous about an upcoming movie when it's
(35:47):
promoted this way. We'll see if you are with me
on this one. If you think the same way or not,
I'm probably no in for big Ben Malor stay with
us right here on Fox Sports Radio. It is Fox
Sports Radio. I'm probably though in for big Ben Mallor Man.
That's why I love working with Mary Mack. This is
a tradition of ours. The intro music to the final
(36:11):
segment is this song. You tell me this isn't a
great way to end the show. You'd be lying. You're
telling me, fibbs. What's the name of this guy? Again,
Mary Mack, I always forget Josh Turner. Josh Turner. I
swear if I remember Josh Turner, I've broken ground. I
(36:34):
cannot remember Josh Turner for the life of me. I
had to think of a way JT JT Josh Turner.
I don't know. Hopefully it'll stick. Hey, be sure to
check out the Fox Sports Radio YouTube channel. Just search

bunch of video highlights from our shows. Be sure to

(36:57):
Sports Radio videos on YouTube. Okay, so one of the
funnier things I heard on Christmas Day, it was actually
the funniest thing was Jimmy Butler with the Warriors. So
he was being asked about the dust up that Draymond
Green and the head coach Steve Kerr had a couple
of nights ago. They were yelling at each other on
(37:19):
the bench and then Draymond just left, just left the team.
He's like, I'm out of here. Didn't play for the
final twenty minutes and didn't get punished either. But Jimmy
Butler was asked about it. Now I like his answer.
He starts off this way and then we get to
the funny part. So this is the serious part of
his answer. Check it out.
Speaker 7 (37:36):
That's just word of the game.
Speaker 3 (37:39):
Like, when you've been together for so long, y'all will
have arguments.
Speaker 7 (37:42):
And it ain't gonna be it ain't gonna be quiet
all the time. It's okay, You've got two careers competitors
that have won it together and that want to continually win.
We know what it is, and you know, if you're
looking at me, I'm just looking.
Speaker 3 (37:55):
Up like, all right, I expect that to happen.
Speaker 4 (37:58):
That's okay.
Speaker 2 (37:58):
We move over from that. It's understandable. He's like that.
Stuff happens where you know you're not gonna get along
in your marriage every single day. You know, there's in
sports you're gonna yell at each other. There's gonna be
some bad moments. It happens, We move on, we turn
the page. Makes sense. And then he said this, this
is great.
Speaker 4 (38:18):
I'm not gonna.
Speaker 2 (38:20):
I like the confrontation for him. Yeah, turned them on
a little confrontation like that. I meant to get the
Kirk cousins. You like that because this is the Jimmy
Butler version of that. Yeah, you have a whole conversation
between Kirk and Jimmy like that if you play the
sound bites a certain way. Something else that caught my attention,
So watching the Nightcap on Christmas evening, the uh the
(38:44):
Broncos beating the Chiefs twenty to thirteen in yawning, boring,
lethargic fashion, but getting a win nevertheless gives the backup,
backup quarterback. They're starting to promote the new Madden movie. Yes,
that's right, Nicholas Cage is going to play John Madden.
(39:06):
And this movie comes out, I believe on Thanksgiving Day
next year, right obviously, So they're starting to promote this
thing on Prime video. It's gonna be on Amazon, and
you're gonna have a Christian Bale playing Al Davis. Like
I said, Nicholas Cage playing John Madden. By the way
I saw his is it a crypt I think I
(39:28):
saw his crypt in New Orleans. I was living there
for about three months and you can tour these crypts
and he's got his picked out. He's like, yeah, I'm
gonna be buried here when it's curtains for me. Kind
of weird, right, but it's a New Orleans vibe, no doubt.
But anyway, Nicholas Cage very good actor. I don't know
how it's going to be playing Madden. I don't know
it's gonna work. But I'll tell you what is a
(39:49):
red flag to me. I don't know if you think
the same way or not. They're promoting the new John
Madden movie coming out next year. They're promoting it and
you see the graphics flash and it's like from the
director of American Hustle and Silver Linings Playbook, and then
it's like he's gonna be doing this movie now too.
(40:10):
I don't know about you, but I've noticed, almost without fail,
when they start to promote a new movie, and it's
like the director of such and such, that newest movie
is almost bad every time. I don't know what it is.
It like goes down in quality automatically. It's almost like
(40:31):
you know the subway that like the restaurant that's attached
to the gas station. Automatically the taste is worse. I
don't know how it just I don't know the fumes.
In fact, when you're like the director of American Hustle
and Silver Linings Playbook, I'm not expecting great things from
the Madden movie. And I loved both of those movies.
(40:52):
Some people are just sleeping on American Hustle, very good movie.
Hanging with you, guys, Enjoy the day.
