and the second half game ended after midnight and doing
an overnight show. We'd love that. We love that because
Mike Tarico was losing his mighty he couldn't believe that
people were awake past midnight.

Oh my god, there's actually people that are up overnight.

What in the world. Anyway, Philadelphia won the game. They
actually lost the statu sheet to the Dallas Cowboys, which
is tremendously embarrassing for a reigning Super Bowl champion against
a middling Cowboy team.

In fact, later on this hour, we'll have Jerry Jones
chiming in on one of the big storylines. But our
lead right now from Vegas follow up, follow up to
the follow up gone in the blink of an eye,
roster development. If he did not see this, perhaps not
wide receiver A Marii Cooper. Yep, that a Marii Cooper,

who just had agreed to a contract to come back
to the NFL. A Marii Cooper said psych he informed
the once proud Raider franchise that has fallen on hard
times that he intends to retire Asta La Vista. He's
out just days before the team is going to open
up this weekend. They are probably already there or on

their way to the Greater Boston area for a matchup
in Foxborough with the Patriots. Raiders offensive coordinator, the rotund
Chip Kelly, who famously quit UCLA football, And he said
Marie Cooper called Pete Carroll in the morning to say,
I don't want to play for you. I'm out, screw you,

I'm gone, or I just retire. Now, Cooper's decision comes
after he's ten days earlier a one year contract to
plausibly be a number two receiver or maybe even number
one if you look at the depth chart for the Raiders.
So let us discuss the question what is your reaction
on what is your reaction to Amari Cooper walking away

from the Raiders to retire. So I've got Bernard Hopkins,
French and Mosquito, and we'll combine all of these random
things together and we are going to beg borrow and
steal so we can get the Gabba Ghoul. That's what
we're gonna do. So to kick off here, we mentioned
(04:38):
the video. There was some viral video over the past weekend.
We talked about it. I thought it was nothing. It
apparently was something. It just didn't seem that big a
deal to me. It was a much bigger deal than
my analysis there because Cooper, who looked like he was
running with ankle weights on, and we all it was like, well,

he's probably just.
Speaker 2 (05:01):
Working his way into shape. He didn't go to training camp.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
And he'll be fine and takes him a little time
to get his sea legs underneath him. Well, it turns
out the only conditioning that Amari Cooper had been doing
was conditioning his mouth with delicious apple fritters. So Cooper's
thirty one, and he was moving around like he was
in his early sixties. You know that old boxing line
(05:24):
from the great Bernard Hopkins back in the day that
he used to use that fighters don't retire from the ring.
The ring retires the fighters. Well, in this case, Amari Cooper,
he didn't retire from football. Football retired him. And here's
the thing in anything that you do, when you stop

loving it, when you stop putting the work into it,
things are not going to go well. You're gonna get
spit out. And it's simple as that. It's like trying
to run a marathon. And your diet has consisted of
regular trips the Rocket, Fizz, Soda Pop, and candy shop,
and that's where you're eating your food. You're not finishing
(06:05):
the rais right, You're not finishing the raise. And this
is not about a skill. It's not a Coopers. He
was always able to run routes or roots. You can
question whether or not he had good hands.

There were some issues with drops, there were some issues
with fumbles and whatnot, but you know he had the skill,
he had the footwork.
Speaker 1 (06:23):
However, if you don't want it, if you don't want
the grind, you are do and eat.
Speaker 2 (06:30):
Done, done, done, done done. You can't fake it.
Speaker 1 (06:33):
Certainly in that business, you can't fake it. And when
it's time, it's time. And a Mary Cooper lost the passion,
clearly didn't put the work in. And now instead of
running slants in Foxborough on Sunday, he'll be running to
Duncan for a box of glaze, is what he'll be doing.
And the other part of this is what this does
to the Raiders, because what the Raiders did, they went

into the confessional adding a Mari Cooper. The Raiders told
the entire football world our wide receiver room there she
blows those guys suck. And right before the season we
had to add Amari Cooper because our wide receivers absolutely stink.
And Cooper was clearly brought in because they had a

gigantic hole the size of the Grand Canyon there. And
if you look at the depth chart, the Raiders going
into that game against the Patriots have Trey Tucker, Dante Forton,
whoever those guys are, and the player that doesn't want
to be a Raider, Jacoby Myers. Those are the top
three receivers. Good luck on that.

Now, furthermore to Jersey we go and another story making.

The rounds here that caught my attention was on my radar,
Garrett Wilson. It's the wide out for the Jets now.
He told members of the Fourth Estate that he has
not has not kept touch with Aaron Rodgers since Rogers
was fired by the Jets back in February and found
employment as he's a carpetbagger now with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

So I bring this up seems rather self explanatory. But
yet many factions of the NFL media are out there
acting like they just found out that Santa Claus isn't real. Gobsmack.
You're telling me that they haven't stayed in touch.

Yes, so, Wide receiver Garrett Wilson says.
Speaker 1 (08:29):
That he has not not been in contact with Steelers
star Aaron Rogers since the quarterback was dumped by the
Jets back in February. Does this surprise you? Does it
surprise you? So? We don't know why anyone would be shocked.
I feel like I've done this before. We've talked about

this before. This is not a news story. But it
still surprises me when this thing pops up. Like Aaron
Rodgers was in the New York City air for like
five minutes. He ran out on the field with the
American flag on nine to eleven and then pop goes
the Achilles five plays in or whatever it was. And
(09:14):
then he became a motivational speaker with Joe Rogan and
almost a vice presidential candidate. And then he was gone.
And he wasn't Joe Namath, and he's certainly you know,
Garrett Wilson's not Wayne Kerbett or anything like that.
Speaker 2 (09:28):
This was not some lifelong bond that was formed.
Speaker 1 (09:33):
These are work friends, that's it. Co workers. I work
in radio. You know, you know, people have blown through
this popsicle stand that I work at here that work
at other places, or a lot of them don't even
work in radio anymore. We were friends. You know, I
have a lot of people that i've I've dealt with
in this business, but work friends. And if you have
a job, you know how this goes right, You leave
(09:55):
the office. In my case, I leave the studio. And
if you're not wor working together, that's it. But if
you leave the office, you're not keeping in touch with
Bob from accounting. If Bob from accounting goes to some
other place to do accounting and be a bean counter.
And Rogers was basically a temp. They crossed pass they
came across each other for a cup of coffee, a
(10:17):
cup of coffee, and everyone was like, Oh, they're acting
all surprised. I can't believe that. Wilson, what is he
supposed to fly down to Pittsburgh to SIPs ayahuasca tea
with Rogers out in the woods somewhere and see if
they can spot ghosts with Joe the ghost hunter from Ohio.
Come on, and don't forget the age thing. Garrett Wilson
is twenty five, Aaron Rodgers is forty one. Completely different

stages of life, completely different. I would imagine most people
who are pro athletes at age twenty five are hitting
the clubs in Manhattan. Right, they're living it up, living
Lavina Loka, out there in Manhattan with Aaron Rodgers at
age forty one. And based on what we know about
Aaron Rodgers, he's out there with crystals in darkness, retreats,

trying to become one with the universe, hugging trees. They
don't exactly have a lot in common, right, they're in
totally different galaxies and the whole thing, you know, excuse
my French, it's a ce la vis situation. That's life, right.
People move on and the next thing, you know, they'll.

Be shocked, shocked that Wilson doesn't send Rogers.
Speaker 1 (11:21):
A Christmas card or vice versa. It's it's not surprising.
Speaker 2 (11:25):
I don't understand what this is getting a lot of attention,
but that's it's just life.
Speaker 1 (11:28):
That's what happens. You know, you're put together. It's kind
of like in school. A lot of you know, your
earliest friends in life are just because you happen to
grow up in a neighborhood and you went to a school,
and you go to public school, and some other kid
lives in your neighborhood and you become besties because you
happen to live in the same school district.

And that's how we're all right now.

Last thing to saw Paulo. That is where the second
game of the NFL season will be.

Can Kansas City a popular pick to be torpedoed this season?
I'm not buying that. Chiefs and the Chargers. They're gonna
wrangle in the Southern hemisphere. Now, Kansas City made some
headlines this week. This has gone viral and it continues
to be a story. Kansas City's practice facility in Brazil
(12:22):
has become a talking point. There are photos that are
still making the rounds. And I was aware of this
the other day and some of you guys kept sending me,
so did you see this?
Speaker 5 (12:30):
Man?
Speaker 1 (12:30):
You should talk about this. You know, they named chicken
figures after you in Kansas City, so you should talk
about this story. Okay, just because the landing in Kansas
City in Liberty named chicken fingers, I'm very grateful for
that does not mean I have to talk about every
single story about the Kansas City Chiefs. Don't have to
do it. That said, I do think this is an
interesting story because the photographs, somebody try to paint the

picture if you're not on the social media, and I
congratulate you if you're not. It's a smart move. It's
a really smart move not to be on there. It's
a dark it really is anyway.

So the practice photos show the training site.
Speaker 1 (13:05):
It had been all over the place and there was
internet outrage, which is always fake. But instead of this pristine,
world class practice facility that we are used to, we're
accustomed to NFL teams practicing, the Chiefs while they're in
Brazil are working out at a shall we say, modest
grass pitch that appeared to be uneven and worn down. Yeah,
(13:30):
it's a grounds keeper, Willie, I think has been working
on this now. The setup also featured what appear to
be rugby goalposts because it's Brazil soccer nets that were
kind of pushed off to the side and the background.
But wait, there's more. The practice complex for the Kansas
City Chiefs included sand volleyball courts, so if they're not

good at football, they can be good at volleyball. And
they have a swimming pool just a few steps away
from the field. Well, that's good jumping the pool after
you're done playing football. Question very hot in Brazil. I've
never been there, but from what I've seen, so question,
how did the NFL? How did the NFL allow Patrick
Mahomes and the Chiefs to practice at what appears to

be a dilapidated facility. So it's very simple. This is
part of the global initiative. It's all about the foot
or in this case, the footprint overseas. Now I have
an unpopular opinion, Okay, I looked at these photos and
I've seen the stories that are written. This really tug
at the heartstring stories. It is refreshing to see the
(14:38):
Chiefs go old school, to go old country, to practice
at a ramshackle facility. On some level, I think it's
hilarious that you have the biggest stars in football, Patrick Mahomes,
Travis Kelcey or mister Taylor, Andy Reid, big Red, who's
(14:58):
on his way to becoming the winningest coach NFL History's
gonna pass Belichick in a couple of years with his
laminated Denny's menu. These guys fly halfway across the globe
to Brazil, twelve hours in a plane, half a day
of their life. They'll never get back in a plane.
They then have to drive another couple hours to a
crappy practice facility and they're practicing on a field that

looks like it was borrowed from a middle school rugby team.
And these are all multi millionaire people. It's just great.
And the reason that it's so funny is the reaction
that people have been programmed, at least in the multiverse,
whether that's real or not, that these NFL players are coddled.
They are so baby, They're so coddled that you just
(15:44):
can't do this to them. You can't force them to
practice at a crappy practice facility. What are you doing?
And on some level, the players probably think adversity is
like when the Wi Fi goes out. Man, I can't
get on the TikTok. I mean, that's a bad situation. Now. Honestly, again,
I think it's hilarious. I love it. And the old
(16:05):
guys that I've talked to, the old NFL players, they
romanticize and I'm sure they hated it at the time,
but what it was like when the NFL was a
mom and pop business. And the story I always tell
is the great Fred Ryer, who's a friend of the show,
and Fred was a big actor in Hollywood in the eighties,
but he played in the nineties also, but he played
in the NFL in the seventies in the early eighties,

and Fred tells a story about when he was practicing
with the.

Rams and they had to before.
Speaker 1 (16:31):
Practice, before they could practice, they had to pick up
pieces of trash and dibbots and put them.
Speaker 2 (16:36):
Back into place so they could practice.
Speaker 1 (16:40):
And that's how every practice would start, because they practiced
at this high school field in Anaheim, and that's what
they were doing. So and I just think of you
compare that to where we are today, and it's just great.
So there's Patrick Mahomes out there running around and he
can feel as he's taken the snap and dropping back

the throwing practice, he can feel the sting of a mosquito.
But not just any mosquito, a Brazilian mosquito, which is.

I've I've been told again I've ever been there, but I've.
Speaker 1 (17:12):
Been told the Brazilian mosquito. And I don't want to
embellish this because it's a radio show. I want to
keep it real with you. So I've been told the
Brazilian mosquito is the size of a tesla. That's what
I've been told, So it'll toughen them up and as
long as they don't break their ankles, and I guess
it's over now. They're playing tonight, so that's it, and

you know, maybe put some hair on your chest and
all that, and the NFL does not care. I'm not
sure who bankrolled this, but I'm pretty confident the NFL
didn't go down there and spend their own money that
it's paid to play. That someone that's got a very
fat wallet from Brazil made this happen. And the Chiefs
got the short straw because what I've been told is

the Chargers practice facilities actually not that bad. But the
issue is this, if you want global expansion, if you
want to be the high falutin American that goes out
there and goes around the globe as a globe trekker,
you you're gonna get global conditions, and they're not all
gonna be the taj mahaal like you've got here in

these NFL facilities in America, where it's just over the top.

roster development. If he did not see this, perhaps not
wide receiver A Marii Cooper. Yep, that a Marii Cooper,

who just had agreed to a contract to come back
to the NFL. A Marii Cooper said psych he informed
the once proud Raider franchise that has fallen on hard
times that he intends to retire Asta La Vista. He's
out just days before the team is going to open
up this weekend. They are probably already there or on

their way to the Greater Boston area for a matchup
in Foxborough with the Patriots. Raiders offensive coordinator, the rotund
Chip Kelly, who famously quit UCLA football, And he said
Marie Cooper called Pete Carroll in the morning to say,
I don't want to play for you. I'm out, screw you,

I'm gone, or I just retire. Now, Cooper's decision comes
after he's ten days earlier a one year contract to
plausibly be a number two receiver or maybe even number
one if you look at the depth chart for the Raiders.
So let us discuss the question what is your reaction
on what is your reaction to Amari Cooper walking away

from the Raiders to retire. So I've got Bernard Hopkins,
French and Mosquito, and we'll combine all of these random
things together and we are going to beg borrow and
steal so we can get the Gabba Ghoul. That's what
we're gonna do. So to kick off here, we mentioned

the video. There was some viral video over the past weekend.
We talked about it. I thought it was nothing. It
apparently was something. It just didn't seem that big a
deal to me. It was a much bigger deal than
my analysis there because Cooper, who looked like he was
running with ankle weights on, and we all it was like, well,

he's probably just.

Working his way into shape. He didn't go to training camp.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
And he'll be fine and takes him a little time
to get his sea legs underneath him. Well, it turns
out the only conditioning that Amari Cooper had been doing
was conditioning his mouth with delicious apple fritters. So Cooper's
thirty one, and he was moving around like he was
in his early sixties. You know that old boxing line

from the great Bernard Hopkins back in the day that
he used to use that fighters don't retire from the ring.
The ring retires the fighters. Well, in this case, Amari Cooper,
he didn't retire from football. Football retired him. And here's
the thing in anything that you do, when you stop

loving it, when you stop putting the work into it,
things are not going to go well. You're gonna get
spit out. And it's simple as that. It's like trying
to run a marathon. And your diet has consisted of
regular trips the Rocket, Fizz, Soda Pop, and candy shop,
and that's where you're eating your food. You're not finishing

the rais right, You're not finishing the raise. And this
is not about a skill. It's not a Coopers. He
was always able to run routes or roots. You can
question whether or not he had good hands.

There were some issues with drops, there were some issues
with fumbles and whatnot, but you know he had the skill,
he had the footwork.

However, if you don't want it, if you don't want
the grind, you are do and eat.

Certainly in that business, you can't fake it. And when
it's time, it's time. And a Mary Cooper lost the passion,
clearly didn't put the work in. And now instead of
running slants in Foxborough on Sunday, he'll be running to
Duncan for a box of glaze, is what he'll be doing.
And the other part of this is what this does
to the Raiders, because what the Raiders did, they went

into the confessional adding a Mari Cooper. The Raiders told
the entire football world our wide receiver room there she
blows those guys suck. And right before the season we
had to add Amari Cooper because our wide receivers absolutely stink.
And Cooper was clearly brought in because they had a

gigantic hole the size of the Grand Canyon there. And
if you look at the depth chart, the Raiders going
into that game against the Patriots have Trey Tucker, Dante Forton,
whoever those guys are, and the player that doesn't want
to be a Raider, Jacoby Myers. Those are the top

was fired by the Jets back in February and found
employment as he's a carpetbagger now with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

yet many factions of the NFL media are out there
acting like they just found out that Santa Claus isn't real. Gobsmack.

then he became a motivational speaker with Joe Rogan and
almost a vice presidential candidate. And then he was gone.
And he wasn't Joe Namath, and he's certainly you know,
Garrett Wilson's not Wayne Kerbett or anything like that.

if you're not wor working together, that's it. But if
you leave the office, you're not keeping in touch with
Bob from accounting. If Bob from accounting goes to some
other place to do accounting and be a bean counter.
And Rogers was basically a temp. They crossed pass they

headlines this week. This has gone viral and it continues
to be a story. Kansas City's practice facility in Brazil

has become a talking point. There are photos that are
still making the rounds. And I was aware of this
the other day and some of you guys kept sending me,
so did you see this?

You should talk about this. You know, they named chicken
figures after you in Kansas City, so you should talk
about this story. Okay, just because the landing in Kansas
City in Liberty named chicken fingers, I'm very grateful for

do it. That said, I do think this is an
interesting story because the photographs, somebody try to paint the

world class practice facility that we are used to, we're
accustomed to NFL teams practicing, the Chiefs while they're in

grass pitch that appeared to be uneven and worn down. Yeah,

it's a grounds keeper, Willie, I think has been working
on this now. The setup also featured what appear to
be rugby goalposts because it's Brazil soccer nets that were
kind of pushed off to the side and the background.
But wait, there's more. The practice complex for the Kansas
City Chiefs included sand volleyball courts, so if they're not

good at football, they can be good at volleyball. And
they have a swimming pool just a few steps away
from the field. Well, that's good jumping the pool after
you're done playing football. Question very hot in Brazil. I've
never been there, but from what I've seen, so question,
how did the NFL? How did the NFL allow Patrick
Mahomes and the Chiefs to practice at what appears to

be a dilapidated facility. So it's very simple. This is
part of the global initiative. It's all about the foot
or in this case, the footprint overseas. Now I have
an unpopular opinion, Okay, I looked at these photos and
I've seen the stories that are written. This really tug
at the heartstring stories. It is refreshing to see the

Chiefs go old school, to go old country, to practice
at a ramshackle facility. On some level, I think it's
hilarious that you have the biggest stars in football, Patrick Mahomes,
Travis Kelcey or mister Taylor, Andy Reid, big Red, who's

on his way to becoming the winningest coach NFL History's
gonna pass Belichick in a couple of years with his
laminated Denny's menu. These guys fly halfway across the globe
to Brazil, twelve hours in a plane, half a day
of their life. They'll never get back in a plane.
They then have to drive another couple hours to a
crappy practice facility and they're practicing on a field that

looks like it was borrowed from a middle school rugby team.
And these are all multi millionaire people. It's just great.
And the reason that it's so funny is the reaction
that people have been programmed, at least in the multiverse,
whether that's real or not, that these NFL players are coddled.
They are so baby, They're so coddled that you just

can't do this to them. You can't force them to
practice at a crappy practice facility. What are you doing?
And on some level, the players probably think adversity is
like when the Wi Fi goes out. Man, I can't
get on the TikTok. I mean, that's a bad situation. Now. Honestly, again,
I think it's hilarious. I love it. And the old

guys that I've talked to, the old NFL players, they
romanticize and I'm sure they hated it at the time,
but what it was like when the NFL was a
mom and pop business. And the story I always tell
is the great Fred Ryer, who's a friend of the show,
and Fred was a big actor in Hollywood in the eighties,
but he played in the nineties also, but he played
in the NFL in the seventies in the early eighties,

and Fred tells a story about when he was practicing
with the.

compare that to where we are today, and it's just great.

issue is this, if you want global expansion, if you
want to be the high falutin American that goes out
there and goes around the globe as a globe trekker,
you you're gonna get global conditions, and they're not all

these NFL facilities in America, where it's just over the top.
