(00:22):
of the Doug Gotli Show on Fox Sports Radio. Nick
Saban told The Wall Street Journal that people will regret
passing on toa It'll be like when he had to
pass on Drew Brees and he was the head coach
of the Miami Dolphins. Of course, how much he regrets
it should be pointed out that, um, you know, the

(00:45):
story goes, he was in San Diego, this is Drew
Brees his last game, really nasty injury and tore up
his shoulder. After tearing up his shoulder, he went and
had surgery and the Dolphins physicians said, nanna, can't do it.
Instead they signed Dante Culpepper. So some of this is
not just about passing on Drew Brees, who I don't

(01:06):
think anyone would think would become the all time passing
leader in NFL history. Some of it is also who
you replaced him with. We've heard this before from an
NFL from a college coach, right. Dabo Sweeney of course,
famously said that, uh, Deshaun Watson was Michael Jordan's passing
on him was passing on Michael Jordan's. And because Michael

(01:29):
Jordan has now become part of the news and Michael
Jordan was the third player taken in the draft, you're like, oh, well,
he passed on Michael Jordan's. In fairness to Deshaun Watson,
we're not yet seven years in where he's the best
player in the game and had yet win a championship.
On the other hand, everyone does respect Deshaun Watson and
he continues to improve in spite of the fact that,
like Jordan's second year, he had a devastating injury and

(01:51):
came back from it. But I'm I'm left with with
this thought, and it's a big one, and the thought
is this, we keep we keep listening to people who
are invested in the success of their prospect, or we
keep listening to gms who aren't gonna tell us anything like.

(02:14):
This time of year brings out the liar in all
of us. And not all of these lies are devastating lies, right,
They're They're not lies that you bet your house on.
They're not lives that you bet your lives on. They're
not lies that that change anything you do. But I
remember I was listening to Trent Dilfer, who's a good

(02:35):
friend and a good friend of the program as a
Super Bowl champion and as a quarterback guru, and he's like, man,
I'm telling you, this guy's Dan Marino. And I called
a couple of NFL guys like, why would you ever
listen to a quarterback guru? Ever? On the guy he
works with? Of course he thinks that guy is good.

(02:58):
Otherwise one he wouldn't work with him. In you they
want people to say, man, he's really good. Who does
he work with? And it's just the natural kind of
habit of a human being. The more you work with somebody,
either the more you really like them or the more
you really hate them. There's lots of people you can't
depend upon this time of year because they're not telling

(03:19):
the truth, right. And I know what you're thinking, politicians.
You know, I think that the scientists are telling the
truth not based upon any sort of bias or desire.
They just they're scientists. They're just trying to, you know,
read the data and give you their best possible, most
likely outcome of that data. But from NFL gms, we're

(03:43):
not trading that guy. He's gonna be a part of
our franchise for a long time. To quarterback gurus to
college coaches, can you really depend upon those guys to
tell you the truth? The answer is not really, not really.
We all have a propensive to make things grander, more
grandiose than they really are. What is the wind in

(04:08):
Nick Saban ripping to Ah, What is the wind in
a GM saying we're gonna trade somebody? What is the
wind in a quarterback guru saying anything other than this
guy is the greatest quick thing we've ever seen since
sliced bread. It's not necessarily a critique on the Jordan
Palmer's of the George Whitfield's happening to George Whitfield by

(04:29):
the way he seemed to come and go the George
Whitfields to the Trent Dilfers. Those guys they have a
job for a reason, but that reason is not to
be the promotional tour tour tool while giving abject, you know,
objective analysis as to who their player is and what

(04:53):
his weaknesses are. That's not what they're there for. That's
bad for business. The same thing goes Senna l g ms.
Why don't they tell you if they're gonna trade somebody
because it's bad for business? And the same goes for
college coaches. Why do they Why would they do anything
but be effuse in their praise because it's bad for business.

(05:16):
The second that telling the truth becomes good for business
is the second that they'll do it. Like we saw
this with the Jackson Yanniking got way right. Tony cons
the GM and he's like, I mean, look, you're just
killing yourself by ripping me. We're trying to get a
trade done, but you talking about it isn't gonna help.
It kills any sort of leverage that we actually have.

(05:41):
Anyone who's trying to deal with us and deal for
you is sitting there going like they have to get
him out of that building. That's how toxic it is.
Literally have to get him out of that building. So
the Panthers wanted to trade Cam Newton, but the best
way to trade Kim Newton is to act like you
really want him, So there's some sort of some sort

(06:03):
of sense of value there. If you say, hey, we
don't want him around here, why would anybody else pick
up the nineteen million dollar tab and trade anything for
a guy who's gonna be on the open market. Remember
that we love Cam, you want to keep Cam. We
heard it from the Giants when they traded Odell Beckham Jr.
We heard all of these things, and then they turned

(06:24):
around and trade him. Why because it's bad for business
to do say otherwise. So I'm not saying that savings
full of it. I do believe that Too is his
best quarterback. Their offense was frankly on steroids once once
he became the quarterback as opposed to all the other
really good quarterbacks he had previously. But let's let's not
kid ourselves about him being Drew Brees. All three of

(06:47):
his wide receivers are gonna be first round picks, so
too is his left tackle. It was chest to everybody
else playing checkers, and it wasn't just because to A
is so much better than everybody else. Be sure to
catch the live edition of The Doug Gottlieb Show weekdays

(07:09):
Radio and the I Heart Radio a app. We got
some breaking news with Kitchen to Dan byr Damn when
he got breaking news, Hey, this just did from the
NFL network see Rapp report. The sources told him that
retired Titan Rob Gronkowski is interested in playing football again.
At least that's the message that Gronk said to the Patriots. However,

(07:30):
there's one catch. He wants to play with Tom Brady
and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. A trade would have to
be worked out, according to Rappaport. We'll see if that
is going to happen. But that's according to the NFL
Network see Rapp report that Gronk wants back in, but
only with Brady and Tampa. Who had that a couple
of weeks ago? We do we know somebody had that
a couple of weeks ago, that he that he wanted

(07:52):
back in. People are like, no, it doesn't work. They
already have two tight ends. Somebody had that. Somebody had that.
I don't think Bruce Arian was like any tight ends,
to be honest, but I don't I'm not sure Bruce
Arians is calling the shots there right. Um, that would
be super super fastinating now. Remember he makes nine million
bucks and they are in cap hell in cap Hell,

(08:15):
So I don't know. I just it's gonna be a
very interesting time to see exactly what happens next with Gronk,
and I wonder, I do wonder what this means for
that w W E deal and what it means for
him on TV. Don't think it was big money for either.

(08:37):
And obviously he wants to play. You know, he wanted
to rest his body and take time off and lost
all that weight. But there's been lots of discussions about O. J. Howard,
who's in the last year of his deal, and O J.
Howard has been one of those teases for a long
long time. Yes, sir, uh yes, run. Doesn't it sort
of reflect poorly on Bill Belichick and went away in

(09:01):
every way, doesn't it? Yeah? I totally think I want
to come back and play, just not for you. I
want to play with Tom Brady. Yeah, like, hey, we
want a Super Bowl. I want out now. The only
reason I will come back is granted, you know, it's
not like he's just playing for some chome of a quarterback.
But I want to get away and now the only
way I'll come back is if I don't play for

(09:21):
you anymore. Now, I look what I do. I think
that it's better to play in the warm weather. I
do right, absolutely, I think it's better to play in
the warm weather. You're playing with with a guy, a
quarterback who knows you absolutely. Um. Also, I mean I
think Arian is the guy who's not a super grinder.
I'm sure that appeals to him as well. But yeah,
this all reflects poorly on on Belichick. Yeah, I want

(09:43):
to come back and play, just not for you, just
not for you. So um yeah, there's a there's a
lot to it, a lot to it. So what do
you think by our do you think the fair trade is?
You're not gonna give mo J Howard for it? They
don't want that. Don't give a Hall of Famer forro

(10:04):
J Howard isn't who they don't really want anyway. No,
And I don't know. I mean this, I couldn't even
tell you a dog. I wouldn't because he's a guy
who's off injured, is coming out of retirement and honestly
doesn't have as much value because it's not like there
are other teams in the market like he's not. You know,

(10:26):
almost if you're New England would just be like, all right,
well we'll take something for him, because they're not you know,
there's not like another team that he could go to
that you could leverage against the other. So and I
don't think he can. I don't know how it works
in terms of the cap and if he can, if
he can just say hey, I'm unretired, I want to play,

(10:47):
and now a sudden he counts against them in the cap,
I don't know how that works, but I do know
that he's it's like a nine million dollar cap number,
which would put them over the cap, like they were
not planning on having him. But doesn't it So I
guess that that's where his leverage comes into play, is
them having to figure out the whole cap situation. But
if you're the Patriots, couldn't you just be like, well,

(11:11):
if you really don't want to play, then we're not
just gonna let you go play for another team without
getting a significant return. I'm not saying like two first
round picks, but I mean, if you're the Patriots, wouldn't
she just sort of be like, Okay, well we're gonna
sit here and wait till something good comes our way.
Otherwise you can just stay retired. Well, I mean look

(11:31):
also that you could say that if they can get
rid of that contract, then it could be something good
coming that way, just getting that contract out the books
and getting something for nothing, right, because they hadn't planned
on having grunk. Now you would have drunk um. Now
you have drunk who you hadn't planned on, and now
you wouldn't have still wouldn't have grounk, but now you
get something in return. I would guess it'd be for

(11:53):
draft picks, because draft picks, you know, don't count against
your cap. I don't believe, right, especially once you get
to the second or around. They don't make much money.
My guests would be to be, you know, some something
worked out for the graph picks. I would be pissed
if I'm if I'm Belichick, just in that, Hey, we
could have used you last year, all those rumors about
you want to come back and play and taking some
time off and feeling good about it, and we were

(12:15):
all waiting on Bata breath to see if it came
back and you didn't come back. That's what I'd be
more upset about than not coming back this year when
we weren't expecting to having you back. I will say
this without knowing what the off season is. There would
be a little bit more value to the bucket years
as well, because now Tom Brady would actually have someone
on the system that he knows. Yes, no, look, he

(12:36):
means more. He means more to Tampa than he does
to New England. Newington did not plan on having him.
There's no way they did not plan on having him.
So now they'd have him. So Tampa would have him,
and I'm not gonna say they're gonna give him away,
but it won't be the type of value you think
you would get for a Hall of Fame tight end
because it's probably a one year deal. You have no

(12:59):
idea if he's gonna put back on the weight and
add add the strength. I'm sure he feels healthy now
and he would be healthier than he had been in years.
But we know Rob Gronkowski. That dude breaks down a lot.
So the guests would be that Gronk would come back
and you get a couple, You get a draft pick

(13:19):
or maybe two. Maybe to draft picks were probably not
that much for him, because as you pointed out, Ryan,
you're right, there's just not a lot of leverage there
on on either side, but more so for the Patriots.
But the problem with the Patriots is if you hold
on to him, you get the you get the cap
hit if you or you cut him. And I still
think there's a cap hit if you cut him, so

(13:42):
that that part could be really really interesting. All right,
Gronk wants to come back and play, but only wants
to come black back and play with the Tampa Buccaneers.
That feels like that's gonna happen. I felt like I
heard that story two weeks ago and I brushed it
off because I thought, well, it doesn't Tampa already have
tight ends. But then everyone has said that O. J.
Howard is not not beloved, they are not even like

(14:05):
they're in Tampa. That eventually he'll be honest, he'll be
He'll be somewhere else. He was being offered up in
a trade. Do I think that means he ends up
in New England? I don't know. Gives him a tight end,
gives him an expiring contract, but it still puts them
in in a bad cap predicament. Be sure to catch
the live edition of The Doug Gottlieb Show weekdays at

(14:27):
three p m. Easter noon Pacific. Let's welcome to Isaiah Simmons.
He's one of the most talked about and ridiculously talented
prospects in Thursday, Friday, and Saturday's upcoming NFL Draft. He
joins us in the Doug Gottlip Show here on Fox
Sports Radio. Isaiah, how are you, good man? Where are
you Are you in Casey? Are you in Clemson? Where

(14:50):
where are you right now? Yeah? I'm back in Kanada's
right now? Um? Okay, So what are what are your
what's your workouts like? Considering everything seems to be closed. Yeah, So, um,
I stay on the field, just doing drills and whatnot,
just to stay technically sound like in the football world.
But other than that, Um, I have a family member

(15:12):
who had a gym in the basement, So luckily I
get to going there and stay, Uh is it a
good Is it a good gym? Or is like a
bow flex? What do we got working down there? We
got like freeway, dumbbells, bench, fresh squad. So all that's
just the traditional things you were doing. But other than that,

(15:33):
I tried. I tried to be creative and find new
things to do, and I found myself biking. So that's
something new, like like outside or peloton. Yeah. Outside. So
I didn't really know how far I was writing. I
just left from one point and said I'm gonna go
here to the next point, and I ended up biking

(15:55):
eight miles, So that's one way up. Yeah. Here is
the thing with with with the biking, though, is it's
a little bit like running. When you want to run someplace.
She's like, Okay, well, now I gotta bike back. You
can't be you can't be the guy who's like, I'm
gonna go eight miles. They're like, you get there, like
somebody come pick me up. I guess you could, but
that would Yeah. Oh, I had this bike from my

(16:17):
family member's house to my others. So I just kind
of put the bike in the garage and said I'm
a bike back a different day. I love it. Did
you have now? Do you have like the clipping shoes
or are you I didn't get that serious, and I'm
a pretty nice bike though, so it wasn't too rough
on me. What how would you describe if somebody was

(16:40):
gonna go somebody describe how they're gonna use you. And
you're like, that's how I want to be used because
there are people that say, like, look, we should use
him as a safety, we should use him as a lineback,
we should use him. How when a when a defensive
coach said, this is how we should use you. What
what you makes you think you can be the best you? Um?
I would honestly say, the best me is how I

(17:01):
was use that crimson to where you know, you just
kind of it's not really like a set position. What
I do is more of responsibilities. So do you give
me kind of the freedom to bounce around from position
the position and just let myself go is honestly what
I feel is best. But I also feel like I
could lock into one position to dominate that position as well.

(17:24):
Isaiah Simmons joining us in the Duck Gotlip Show on
fox Board Tradio. Any idea where that location is going
to be? I mean, you're all over these mock drafts. Yeah,
I have no idea, honestly, no idea, no idea. Well,
who did like and all these conversations you're having, you're
having via like skype er, I mean or zoom calls. Yes,

(17:48):
what's that like to meet somebody on Skype? Yeah, it's
a little different. Um, obviously it's kind of hard to
build a relationship over the phone, if that makes sense. Um,
just to skype and everything, so I know, right, like this,
really we would be like taking team visits and actually
spending time with him. So it's a little different now

(18:09):
just meeting people over the phone, But a lot of
them are already met at the combine with the phone
interviews and everything. So so when you're gonna meet somebody
over the phone, rover zoom, like, say, it's a video call.
Do you get dressed up? Are you going sweats? No?
I'm just going with sweats. Yeah, I think everybody's wearing sweats, right,
But like this has become people like, man, sweats are awesome.

(18:31):
How do we not How how can we make suits
out of sweat material? Can we find a way to
figure that thing out? Right? That's that's the company. That's
the company I would invest in, the one that creates
the suit. Huh. We might have to trademark that you
got your coming into some money. I got the ideas.
Let's work together on this one. Isaiah Isaiah Simmons joining

(18:53):
us on The Doug Gotlip Show on Fox Sports Radio. Um,
if there was one thing you could change about your
experience at Clemson. What would it be one thing I
could change about my experience? Okay, yeah, so perfect. I
wish I would invest it into getting a wave Runner
or a jet Speak because it comes is on the lake. Yeah,

(19:14):
people don't know that. People don't know that, they don't
know where. And was your go ahead? Like did you
were you a wave runner guy before you got there? Yeah?
So I love the lake, guess one of my favorite
things to do. So um, that's just one thing I
wish I would have thought while I was there. But
you know, it was all good. Luckily all our coaches
and I had a couple of friends that have goats

(19:36):
and wave run our sood it was all good time.
Dabbo good on the wave Runner. Yeah, he loves it,
like believe it or not. So um. One thing he
does for the team is during camp, like midway through camp,
we uh take a day off and we have a
lake David the team and just to kind of relax
a little bit and then get back to work. What's

(19:57):
hot or South Carolina hot or can or Can's it
is hot? Um, it's too completely different kind of hot. Honestly,
it's really humid and in South Carolina and Canada is
more of a kind of dry ash. I guess it's
just a little human but it's not like anything like

(20:18):
South Carolina. Now, were you a big Lebron? Are you
big Lebron guy? Um? I'm I really respect his game
and like his game, but I wouldn't say I'm a
huge Bron guy. Who's your guy? Personally? I like Russell Westbrook.
You've got that dog in him, like he played basketball
like his football, and I love it. Okay, So did

(20:38):
I take it you watched the doc on on Sunday? Yes?
I did? What what you? What was your what do you?
What do you think of Jordan before? And now? What
do you think of Jordan's Um? So, before I didn't
really know too much about him, But the more and
more I'm learned about him, the more and more I
think he's separating himself in the conversation of Who's the goat? Yeah? Um,

(21:03):
I can't say is what I expected because I didn't
really know what to expect that the documentary, But I'm
really excited at the episode three. I really can't wait
for that. Um. If there was a documentary on Clemson's
football team this year, right, who would be the guy
who everybody made fun of like they made fun of
Jerry Krauss. Oh, man, I can't put them buy out, Like, okay,

(21:27):
how about how about how about this one? Who's the
guy who's least appreciated, Like Scotty Pippen appeared to not
be as appreciated. If Scottie Pippen wasn't appreciated enough, who
would who would be the least the guy who was like, man,
this dude can really ball and didn't get hasn't gotten
the love, uh, you know from people outside of Clemson

(21:47):
the way he should. Yeah. I actually got two people
for sure, and strangely enough did the same number. Denzel
Johnson number fourteen, he's a safety, and then DeAndre overton
Um number fourteen and he's the wide receiver. Both of
them straight ballers, both of the drafts. Um, and I
feel like they just didn't get enough love just with

(22:09):
all the big name people that they had surrounded them.
But both of them are straight ballers. I feel like
they could have went and started for any other school.
But um, like I said, they they are a little unappreciated, appreciated,
and uh, I feel like they need they deserve more
love just what they could do. Tell me, tell me
what you and Old Spice are doing for the draft. Yeah, so, um,

(22:33):
you know, as much as this is not really a
traditional draft, Um, I'm really excited. I'm partnering the Old Spice. Um.
I grew up. I grew up wearing Old Spice, Um
my whole life. My grandfather he actually that's all he
wore with those spices, So that was kind of all
I knew. And what was really special about this is

(22:53):
Both Spices is donating three dollars to United Way to
support underprivileged guys and their families. And on behalf of
myself and rookies from all the other thirty two teams
we are, Um, we're going to be a part of that.
And what's really special about it is it kind of
gives me a jump start on helping the community. But

(23:14):
my new community that I'll be a part of. Yeah,
it's give me awesome. Um. All right, well listen, good
luck with that biking skills. Stay way way way over
to the side on the bike lane. Like last thing,
we wanted something to to happen to you and make
sure you aren't you were in a helmet too, right,
Like we used to make fun of dudes at war helmets.
We're kids, and now it's like you better wear a helmet. Yeah,
I wanted my football helmet. I love it. High school

(23:36):
football helmet or Clemson helmet? Good? Good enough, nobody's hitting
the Tiger. Best of luck on Thursday. Can't wait to
see where you go. And thanks for joining us. All right,
pleasure is all mine. That's Isaiah Simmons, super talented hybrid player.
He's the twenty one century linebacker safety esque the way
they used to make Clemson. He's the He's the Derwin

(23:58):
James of this, of this traff. Fox Sports Radio has

to listen live. Tom Brady, of course, playing quarterback for
the Tampa Buccaneers, and we thought they had good tight
end play with Cameron brad and O J. Howard. Course,

(24:21):
O J. Howard never really lived up to the lofty
potential that people thought he had because every year in
the college football playoff he'd suddenly get the football. O J.
Howard seemingly on the way out. But the news came
really fast and furious. Today there were rumors and I
can't remember. Somebody's gonna take credit and have a tweet
that we should look back. It's like a week or

(24:41):
two weeks ago. Some he's like, yeah, I bet Rob
Gronkowski's going to Tampa. So the rumors were Rob Gronkowski.
It probably took all of a half hour for there'd
be a Rob Gronkowski wants to come out of retirement,
only wants to play with Tom Brady. To Jay Glazer
reporting Rob Gronkowski took a physical and note the deal
is not done yet. To the deal being done, Rob

(25:03):
Gronkowsky and a seventh number, he makes ten million dollars
in The Patriots already cappt out Rob Gronkowski in the
seventh for a fourth round pick. So gronk who wasn't
gonna play for the Patriots this season anyway, didn't play
for him last year. They get a fourth form when
there was only one team to trade to. Still, the
Patriots lose everybody essentially but Edelman on the offensive side

(25:24):
of the ball that you remember, and the Buccaneers get
Tom Brady and now they get now they get Grunk.
That's a Wow. That's a wow. Now, look, there's two
sides to it. Gronk has a history of injury problems,
but Gronk is as good a two way tight end

(25:47):
as you're gonna find in terms of blocker and pass catcher.
Plus there's the that that thing that you need, which
is knowledge of how to play with Tom Brady. And
whereas Brady he didn't really have anyone in the building
who had played with him and succeeded with him. Now
he does double win for for the Buccaneers. I guess

(26:08):
the only question would be, you know, pounds that Gronk lost,
would he have to put it back on? And how
did his body feel? Those body probably feels really good
not having to go through camp or for football season,
and you know, playing only in the w w E
li'll fake sporting event and winning a title. So a
healthy Gronk in warmer weather should last longer. Tom Brady,

(26:33):
who wanted weapons, now has weapons, and a Gronk who
probably didn't want to grind with Belichick anymore doesn't have
to anymore. Do I think the NFC is a ridiculous,
arduous journey to get to the Super Bowl? Yeah, the
Saints are legit. I don't think Atlanta is as bad

(26:55):
as they played in the first half of the year.
The how Boys have talent. The Eagles are even better
and should be healthier, and and and they've done a
tremendous job. Uh, say what you want about the Bears. Folds,
if he becomes the starter, I think we would all
agree is an upgrade over what they've been thrown out

(27:15):
there with Mitchell Drabinsky, and I think eventually that happens.
Vikings are still stacked, although they trade away Stefon Diggs.
The Packers had the second best record and could have
been the number one overall seed. There's Seattle who looks
like they should be better they had all those injuries
at running back last year. And the San Francisco forty Niners,
who could have and maybe should have won a Super Bowl.

(27:38):
I'm sure I'm missing a team or two, but the
NFC is stacked, and now Tampa in the discussions among
the favorites to win a Super Bowl. It's a long
way off. We don't know when there's O t A s.
We don't know a lot of things. But the one question,
one of the questions we had about Tom Brady is
third down, new group of guys who could he count
on when I was got Gronk problem solved. At least

(28:01):
one of the problems solved right now. Look, there's not
a long list of super successful players to come out
of retirement, but the superstars have done it. Dion Sanders
did it and did it well. He came out of
retirement a couple of times over UM five didn't sit
a year, but five came out of retirement and was

(28:23):
was great. It was great the first time when he
came out with the Jets, and then we went to
the Vikings, and the second time he came out of
retirement with the Vikings after a year, then he wasn't
very good. Then he kind of fell off a cliff
a little bit. But Marshawn Lynch came out of retirement,
not really Um, but Gronk didn't retire because of age,

(28:49):
just the wear and tear of surgeries, some age playing
in the cold. And now you eliminate that. Look, I'm hey,
there's a lot out of concerns there. Tom Brady is older,
Gronk is older and often injured. But if you told
me Rob Gronkowski now becomes your second best tight end that.
I'm I don't hate that at all. And all you

(29:11):
had to do is give up a fourth round pick
for Gronk and it makes Tom Brady happy. I don't
hate that. I guess my question now is don't you
call and you go like, hey, uh, Edelman, what do
you think? Just what? Do you just tell me what
you think? You know? They have that first round pick
which is was at fourteen, which looks like it will

(29:31):
be earmarked maybe for Tristan Worths is gonna join us
stud right tackle out of Iowa. Second round? You think
they go running back. But at least you call and
you go, Edelman, what do you think? Yes? Rhyme music?
Does this sort of feel like the hardline coach my

(29:54):
way or the highway? The old school coaches almost coming
to an end? I mean, Bill Belichick is probably the
last one in the NFL that I can think of
off the top of my head. No, Mike Zimmer is
a hard ass with the Minnesota Vikings. Hasn't had a
ton of success, and I would argue probably gonna lose
his job if they don't win something of sing But

(30:15):
you asked the last let me kind of go through
the list. If you got the young guy in in
Green Bay that he looked overwhelmed. Obviously Kyle Shanahan, who's
an offensive mastermind, although in fairness he lost two Super
Bowls probably should have won. Uh at least the last
the Hens is a great question. And then well, the

(30:35):
comparison I was gonna draw to is, you know, the
last that you're sort of seeing in the n b
A is Gregg Popovich and the Spurs, although they haven't
totally bottomed out, are not the Spurs that they once were.
And I know the Kauhaiet Leonard situation, the way he
forced his way out of San Antonio totally changed that.
But I don't think it's a total coincidence that Tom
Brady and Gronk left what was the most successful dinas

(31:00):
the franchise with that coach and chose to go to
a more player friendly situation in Tampa Bay. Yes, let's
let's see how it works out. Let's see how it
works out. But I would say generally yeah, um yes,
but let's like, let's see how Judge works out. Let's
see how Houston. As much as everyone is calling out

(31:20):
Bill O'Brien whatever, like, they made the playoffs four to secures.
One of those years Deshaun Watson tore his knee now
making it not making the playoffs, and Deshaun Watson gets hurt, right,
you know, Matt Patricia, another former Patriot guy not doing
so well. Some of that didn't have Stafford last year
for much of last year with you with the knee injury.

(31:43):
You have back injury. Sorry I said he had back
back injury. So yeah, I mean he does feel like um,
it does feel like a change of the Guarden, change
of the old kind of crotchety football coach. But these
things also do ebb and flow because we're still in Eric.
Because the truth is that Sean McVeigh is a young guy,

(32:05):
but an old school guy. Jon Gruden is a John
Gruden was a young guy, but was an old school guy.
He's not really the players coach that some would lead
you to believe because he has because he was a
good quote. But we'll see. I do think this is
an anti New England move. On the other hand, I'm

(32:26):
not sure I can blame Gronk. I don't want to
come back and play with Jared Stidham or whoever their
quarterback is when I can play with Tom Brady, and
they didn't expect to have him, probably knew this is
a possibility. But those dudes are done with the Belichick thing.
And that's the sense that I got from people talking
to Brady was it wasn't even necessarily super negative towards Belichick.

(32:49):
It was just like, yeah, I've done that. That's it's
I've had enough of doing it that way. It's good,
it's good, but there's you can still win the other way.
And and the money showed it wasn't all about money.
He got twenty five million, but he didn't fight over money.
Is like, here's the contract, can you can you do it? Um?

(33:11):
I think there's a will the are the the old
school coaches probably gone. I do think there's a hybrid
of especially if you played like Ron Rivera is a
tough dude, he is a demanding coach. Anthony Lynn another
former player, tough dude, demanding coach. So I think that
the days of the non player, hard ass coach probably

(33:36):
gone or going away. But the demanding former player coach,
I still think he's there. I still think he's there.
Tristan Works joins the show up could be next. What
would be like to block for Tom Brady and what's
it like to just road grade a dude
