Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening and boom yeah us appears as well on
this Friday edition. Oh guys, Friday the thirteen. All right,
I wonder if the John Ramo Show is gonna have
anything to do with Friday the thirteenth, little Freaky Friday team.

(00:22):
Maybe maybe you'll rank the Uh I'm just gonna throw
this out there. This is a guest because we don't
know what happens on the John Ramo Show. Maybe John's
gonna rank the top seventy two scenes in the Friday
the thirteenth franchise. Or how about it who in sports
looks most like a werewolf? That could be as well.
There's a lot of different options for Friday the thirteen.

(00:44):
Go straight to Ricky Rubio and you stop there. The
the Friday the thirteenth, The luck of one does Bryant
ran out today as the Dallas Cowboys released the veteran
wide receiver, This meaning Jonas was reported earlier this week
that Dez Bryant Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, We're gonna have
a meeting today. Doz schedule to make twelve and a

(01:04):
half million dollars? And when this meeting took place, it's
it's never good I've had friends who have had, Hey,
why don't you why dont you come by the office
at eight am Monday morning? You know, like one of
those which, by the way, makes their weekend awesome, because
when you get that call at five o'clock on Friday,

(01:25):
you know that Saturday and Sunday you're not gonna be
wondering why you've got to be to work at eight
o'clock on Monday morning. But so you have this meeting
between the Cowboys and Dez Bryant and Jonas had ended
up coming out that the Dallas Cowboys have released the
veteran wide receiver again after your scheduled to make twelve
and a half million dollars. Nobody can be surprised by this, right,

(01:45):
I don't even know if this serves as breaking news.
I saw a lot of breaking news is go up.
Nobody can be shocked by this, right. I mean, the
skills are diminishing, they're clearly going in a different direction
that it costs way too much money to keep him around.
And what he was doing was he doing like we're
in sixteen million or something, twelve to sixteen million. I
know in that ballpark, it doesn't make sense. So the

(02:08):
idea that. I mean, I give Jerry Jones credit. At
least he went and met with him. You know, they
could have pulled a Marquette King where he comes by
to bring him bring him donuts. Next thing, you know,
they're like, oh, hey, since you're here, let's let's have
a conversationation donuts mart. That's that's punishment for the worthless
fifteen yard penaltyam by a punter we got because of you. Um.

(02:28):
I just I don't know this. This can't be a
surprised anybody. You should have seen it coming. The skills
have diminished, the mouth has not stopped. That sounded weird,
But I just don't see this as epic. This is
where I think it has caught some people off guard
because Jerry Jones sticks with his guys. He I mean
when you look at it, at his history, whether it

(02:50):
be coaches, even the quarterback situation, I mean, how much
how much was it discussed when Dak Prescott was rolling
and the Cowboys were unstoppable when Tony Romo came back,
maybe there would end up being Tony Romo getting his
job back despite the fact that the Cowboys were the
best team in the NFC. At that point, like Jerry
Jones is very loyal and Jerry Jones doesn't. He gets

(03:13):
close to players and doesn't want to do them wrong.
So you've got Dez Bryant at twelve and a half
million dollars. The surprising part is the loyalty part Jonas
and from the reports that we've heard that the Cowboys
didn't even ask him to take a pay cut. But
to your point, when you look back and see what
Dez Bryant has done for the Cowboys recently with Dak

(03:36):
Prescott at quarterback, Doug mentioned it this week. It was
a big theme that that Mike Harmon and myself had
throughout the fantasy football season on the completion percentage of
Dak Prescott when trying to throw to Dez Bryant, and
not only Jonas compared to everyone else on the team.
It was night and day. So when you start bringing
those things in, even taking out the salary, it just

(03:58):
isn't a fit with the how Boys anymore, and Dez
Brian is gonna have to try to find a fit
somewhere else in the National Football League. Marty Booker has
more reception in his career than des Bryant. Okay, Like
I think this is a lot about Dez Bryant being
a Dallas cowboy, and when you're a Dallas cowboy, everything
is heightened there. I've never bought it. I know there
was a three year run and we talked about it

(04:20):
before the show. There was a three year one from
from to four team where he was one of the
better wide receivers in the league. Scored a lot of touchdowns,
had a lot of yards. But this is a different team, okay.
And and they're not so dependent on one guy anymore.
They're gonna try and build around Dak Prescott. They've already
made that be known, and they're gonna try and build
around Ezekiel Elliott, and they're gonna run the organization that way.

(04:42):
The second romo was gone from Dallas, the clock should
have been taking on Dez Bryant because they had a rapport.
They they played well together. I mean you saw times
where Dak Prescott trusted Coleby Easley or Terrence Williams and
some of these other players in tough situations. More Sony
trusted des Bryant. The the numbers of Dez Bryant to me,

(05:03):
and I was a big Dez Bryant guy, he's not
going to rack up as many receptions as certain wide
receivers are in the National Football League. What surprised me
Jonas was to see that Dez Bryant was only fifth
all time in yardage for a Dallas Cowboy receiver in
their history and was third in receptions Jason Witten number one.
Michael even ended up being number two, first in touchdowns,

(05:26):
which shows you as reliability at least in the red
zone and the physical nature of of how he plays.
But to the point of what Dallas did then, in
what Dallas does now, he's not going to catch a
football for sixteen games and real and nineteen hundred yards
that that is not going to be the case. And
he's just now working with a wide receiver specialist to

(05:49):
learn how to like properly run routes Like that just
screams of a guy who physically always could rely on
his physicality to win one on one matchups and then
later in his career had to try and figure out
how to really play the position. And it just like
it's too late. I mean, he's gonna get listen, He's
he's still got something left. He's gonna get an offer

(06:10):
from somebody, but it's going to be a significant pay cut,
and I'm curious to see how he handles it moving forward.
You just mentioned how maybe his numbers don't match up
to others in the National Football League and overrated as
a term that could come into player. Do you think
he has overrated? Do you think that the Cowboys got
the value for Dez Bryant during his eight years there? No,

(06:33):
not with the new contract. Well, yeah, that's that's part
of Like you look at his his history with the Cowboys,
it was so tied to the quarterback position and it
looked like, as he said, for that three years span
that wow, this is this is going to be the
Aikman Irvin matchup of Romo and Dez Bryant, and that's

(06:55):
just going to continue. And then it fell off in
some part, no fault to him. And so then when
he started talking about, you know, des Bryant's legacy with
the Cowboys and why this move ended up being made,
you started to say, Okay, was he overrated or underrated?
There's a lot of factors that go into it. And
also when you think about when he got paid, he
got paid after his best years, right, So if you

(07:15):
consider that his best years came at a much lower
number cap wise as as what they had to pay him,
and then his when he started to decline, it was
when injuries to Tony Romo um yet a four win
season at one point. There was a lot of change,
a lot of stuff that that that that the organization changed,
They went in different directions, and then he didn't put

(07:37):
up as well as good a numbers. So if you
already just look at that way, yeah, you didn't get
your money's worth after the contract was signed, but you
definitely got your money's worth before the contract was like,
he was paid based on what he did, not what
you you hoped what he was going to do, but
he just never amounted to that. I find it so
interesting now when you look at who Dak Prescott has
to throw too that Dallas and not even off bring

(08:00):
him a pay cut. They brought in Alan Hearns in
free agency. You've got Jason Whitten in his ninety seven
year in the NFL. You've got Terence Williams coming off
of another injury, and you have Cole Beasley and a
couple of other young wide receivers that that maybe you
lost Bryce Butler to Arizona in the off season, like
there isn't there isn't a lot there with the Dallas Cowboys,

(08:23):
and they were still willing to move on from him,
which shows how much I think he became, you know,
a square peg trying to fit into a round hole
of that offense. It just was not going to happen.
I also think this is a change in Jerry Jones
because if this was twenty same situation, same numbers being
put up, I don't think he gets rid of him,

(08:45):
because that was still the same Jerry Jones that was
tempted to take Johnny Manzel in the draft and was
talked out of it by members of the organization. No,
no, no no, no, we're not We don't need to do this,
trust me. This is the direction we've got to go.
Let's go with the offensive lineman. Let's really make the
right call here. So I just I also think this
is a change in Jerry Jones. Store. Yes, he's always
been loyal and in a loyal guy all the way around.

(09:06):
But he said by to Tony Romo, now he's saying
by to Dez Bryan. I just I just think there's
been a slight change there in DALYs one of the
most amazing things. And looking at where Dez Bryant will
end up being in Cowboys history jonas as and you
start to think of the the wide receivers that Dallas
has has had in the past, and Michael Irvin, Drew Pearson,

(09:27):
other names pop up. What's so intriguing to me is
this is totally random, but Terrell Owens ranks top ten
and receiving yards and touchdowns like that should tell you
something about like the history of the Cowboys wide receivers,
why you're thinking of a franchise and how great things were.
That's seventy three touchdowns being the most enfranchise history when
he doesn't even have half of the question catches that

(09:48):
Jason Wittna has another. Where's Alvin Harper on that list?
I mean a little Alvin Harper, Dan Alvin Harper in
all time yards for the Dallas Cowboys had two thousand,
four hundred and eight six. There isn't a rank next
to it, but he is behind herschel Walker and receiving
and behind Cole Beasley. Yes, and by the way, Patrick

(10:09):
Crayton has more career receiving yards than one album. Remember Patrick, Yeah,
there's a lot of good look good cowboy nuggets that
came up with this Dez Bryant release released today after
eight seasons. So moral of the story is Cowboy fans,
as far as receivers go, Yeah, have been very good.
Have been a couple of guys, but no, not all

(10:30):
that great. And does Briant fans known as Desbians um
New Jersey, New Jersey UM. Today's Doug Gotlieb Show is

NBA Playoffs is the extravaganza begins tomorrow. He's the lead
NBA writer and managing editor at NBC Sports is covering
this association. Are good, Buddy, Kurt Hellan joins us, Hey, Kurt,
how you doing? I'm doing good? How's it going? Guys? Great?
Happy playoffs eve, if you will, and as we get

(12:16):
set for it's a great weekend because all the series
can underway. Four games on Saturday, four games on Sunday
for right out of the gate, not even how the
series plays out, but what game one are you looking
forward to the most on Saturday or Sunday. It is
not the series I'm looking forward to the most, But
the game one I'm looking forward to the most is

(12:38):
Toronto Washington because Toronto has lost every game one it's
ever played. It's it's o and nine and they are this.
There's this the whole city. The fan base has a
serious inferiority complex with agetics. They're pessimistic, they expect things
to go wrong. And there's the book, there's they're really good.

(13:01):
They there's a number one seed. They should be able
to I mean, they have a legitimate chance to knock
off the Cavaliers in advance on paper. They get a
tough first round matchup against the Washington team that kind
of raises its game in the playoffs and has all
these veterans, and they get John wallback and they know
how to play, and they lose that first game, or
even if it gets close, you can heighten the fourth
quarter like the air is gonna get sucked out of

(13:23):
the air Canada Center. They're just gonna be nervous. It's
like that's gonna be a fascinating game. One. If if
if Toronto can win by, they're gonna crush this series.
But if that's a type first game, it's gonna be fascinating. Uh,
Curt Eland of a pro basketball talk with us here
on Fox Sports radiol right just between you and I,
there's nobody listening right now, so don't even worry about it.
At what point during the season were you already tired

(13:45):
of it and you just wanted the playoffs to start?
When did that apt? Uh? It goes in waves there,
but usually somewhere. The first wave is usually right after
Christmas somewhere in like January somewhere, you're like, can we
get to the All Star break? Then you kind of
get energized again, and then yeah, March you're like, and
you're trying to find meaning in these games at this point,

(14:07):
and most of the teams are just in the dog
days and playing out the strings or whatever. So yeah,
and somewhere around there you're like, man, I want the
games to mean something again. Yeah, And that's and it
brings me to this because which of the top teams
in either conference do you look at that have been
in you know, sort of we've already clinged or just
kind of cruising at this point that you would be
most concerned about heading into the first round of the playoffs.

(14:28):
Golden State a little bit. I think that they are
genuinely vulnerable. Obviously, the Steph Curry injury changes who they
are a little bit, But the other part of that
is also just they haven't been focused on defense. They
haven't built the habits. We know they've got it in them.
Remember earlier in the season, Steph Curry missed eleven games,
explained his ankle. They want eight and three their defense, Like,

(14:49):
all right, Curry has gone, we gotta lockdown defense again.
We gotta start playing hard. And they were great, They
were fantastic during that stretch. They got to get back
to that and maybe they can flip the switch. But
you've got to be a little bit uncomfortable. And they
go up against the Spurs team that's not athletic, doesn't
have Kawhi Leonard. But they're going to defend, They're not
gonna beat themselves, are not gonna make mistakes, and you

(15:10):
have to wonder just exactly, look at what point do
but what point do the Warriors finally flip the switch
and go, you know what, we gotta actually take this seriously.
I guess well, Kurt and I was in the minority.
By the way, Kurt Halan joining us here on the
Doug ot Leave Show on Fox Sports Radio, I'm Dan Buyer.
That's jonas smoother. The show goes without Doug. By the way,
come on, come on send your send your tweets to

(15:31):
add basketball talk with that. That where you can get
Kurts on Twitter. The thing about the Warriors and I
was in the minority. I didn't think that Steve Kerr
wanted to face the Spurs in the first round, or
that the Warriors wanted to face the Spurs, just because
even with all of the personnel issues that san Antonio
may have, there's still the Spurs. But everything I read was, hey,

(15:53):
they'd much rather face that personnel than any of the
other teams that got in. Is a san Antonio a
good or bad matchup? A Golden State? They're they're good
matchup for them, just based on the athletics in factor.
They just we saw this, you know, we saw this
in the playoffs to it. I mean, Curry was in
the game, but we saw this in the playoffs last year.
Without Kwai Leonard, They're just not They're they're gonna slow

(16:14):
it down. They try to score in the post with
Gasol and and Aldridge, and look, Aldridge has been brilliant.
They are really obviously a very good defensive teams of
Jan Murray's like sneaky good defense. Hopefully some people will
notice that during this this this playoff run. He's been
phenomenal this year. And all that said, they just don't
have the athletes. They just don't have the players to
match up. They just not that there's a lot of

(16:35):
teams that can match up with Kevin Durant. There's nobody,
you know, there's maybe three guys in the league that
can give him trouble. But I think it's just it's
that versus it's it's less that they really wanted the
Spurs that they you look at the other options, like
they didn't want Oklahoma City, you know, the the other
there are other teams that they could have faced that
would have been a much tougher first round matchup for them.

(16:55):
Current is there any is there any concern or what
would the concerns be if I were a Cleveland Cavalier
fan in the opening round against Indiana. What would concern
me if I were a Cat fan. I don't know
how concerned i'd be that I'm going to lose Indiana.
But here's I think what I'm watching. During the regular season,
your team to Mont just basically defended like Lebron James

(17:16):
and four traffic cones, and they've got to find a
way to get some stuffs. They were genuinely awful on defense,
and in the playoffs you can dial that up a
little bit. And by the way, you can, you can
really cause problems for Indiana because their offense was, um
it was Victor Oladipo and then Victor Oladipo and then
Victor Oladipo. Like, they don't have a lot of other
shot creation options, and as good as Oladipo as, you

(17:39):
can make life difficult for him or for any you know,
single guy like that. That said, like, if they don't
play good team defense, if they don't start to find
a groove and raise that up starting in this level,
it they go up against Toronto, Toronto has assuming you know,
Toronto beats Washington and moves on. Toronto has multiple guys
who can create shots, and they have three point shooters
and they can throw small lineups and lineups like, they've

(18:00):
got the versatility to cause you problems if you're not defending. Well,
did you hear about that traffic on that cheated on?
Chloe Kardashian TMC just had it. Kurt Hell and joining
us here on Fox Sports Radio, He's Jonas Knocks. I'm
Dan Buyer. There was so much made in the East
about the race to get the seventh spot to face
the Celtics. Did the Celtics get the best possible matchup

(18:22):
in facing the Bucks in that to seven game series?
Maybe the Maybe? You know, this is one of those
fascinating just kind of thought exercise and mental exercise type
of things, because on one hand, not only is the
best player in this series by far Jana sent in
the Kumpo, I think you could argue they might have
the if not the second, because maybe Horford is there,

(18:44):
maybe the second and the third and fourth best Like
they're way more talented. The Bucks are just way more
talented and they can play you know, it's the playoffs,
so you don't have to rest on Dan Koumpo as much.
You can play him, you know, fifteen minutes a game
and what have you and you got blood so out
there like you've got all this talent. They're so undisciplined
that makes so many mental mistakes and if you do
that against Brad Stevens teams, you're going to pay a price.

(19:07):
And that's what it comes down to. It comes down
to will be more talented team played just disciplined enough
to win and and eat this out? Or are they
just gonna make mistake after mistake after steake and pay
price after price after price not warn their lesson because
the Celtics are going to beat themselves. They're not deep
with talent, but Rford can score. You know, Tera rosiears

(19:28):
played well, Brown and and Tatum are going to make
some plays like they're gonna be okay you They don't
have the talent to win this thing, except that they're
not going to beat themselves. And the Bucks the defensively
do stupid crap all the time and they're going to
get They're gonna pay a price every time they do it. Uh.
Kurt Healen with us from Pro Basketball Talk here on

(19:48):
Fox Sports Radio. Dan Buyer Jonas knocks him for Doug Gottlieb,
so Dan has bullied the Philadelphia seventy sixers for weeks now.
He said, they've piled up wins against teams that are tanking,
how Kins and Jazz two as well. Okay, how overrated
are the Philadelphia seventy sixers without embiid a little bit?
I don't think like they're like, oh, they've won eight

(20:10):
in a row without MP point. Yeah. I think the
fact that they beat up teams down the stretch, they
get into that, like, yeah, they crushed the Bucks on
the last night of the regular season. Yes, did the
Bucks want to win that game because if they lose,
they get the hit the Celtics. If they win, they
get Lebron James, Like, how hard are you really going there?
So they did soft you know, they did do that

(20:31):
against soft talent. But that said, I still think it's
a talented team and they're on the right side of
the bracket. They can beat Miami um and they especially
when they get embed back at whatever point the game two,
game three, whenever he returns, and then you get either
the you know, are undisciplined of a talented Bucks or
they're very banged up Celtics, And like the path for
them is really reasonable. They they've got to play better.

(20:52):
They're going to have to learn some lessons and be
disciplined again, because Miami, much like Utah, they just score
points by just We're gonna run tick and roll after
pick and roll and off screen guys off bowing on
ball until you make a mistake, and then you're gonna pay.
And we'll see how focus the Sixers, whom were talented.
They're a good defensive team, but well, they stayed focused
long enough, so I think they'll get there. I think

(21:13):
they'll win the series. I I think conference finals is
really reasonable for them, even if they're slightly overrated. Kurt
Healing joining us here on Fox Sports Radio, the lead
NBA writer and managing editor at NBC sports dot Com.
Last one for me is this playoffs all about James Harden,
because I feel he's got the most to gain and
the most to lose throughout this this NBA Playoffs? Is

(21:37):
James Harden the most important player in this postseason? I'm sorry,
I de started to stand on a runway suddenly duck,
just duck. You know they um a little bit, yeah,
because look, is he gonna win m VP going away?
And he's been arguably the best, most consistent offensive player
in the league for the last three or four years. Absolutely,

(22:00):
and if they don't win a title, if if they
don't at least push the war here's really hard. You
start to go back to the that the theme that
he's not able to step it up in the playoffs
is there, and I fair or not, you know, whatever
goes down, he is. You know, he's about to get
a massive boost from Adidas financially for doing this, for
winning the m v P, and they're gonna want to

(22:22):
promote that and promote him. But if you want to
sell shoes, especially if you want to sell shoes in
China and some of the overseas markets, you've got to
have rings. You've got to have that kind of stature.
And he's got to win some They've got to win
in the playoffs. So I think that I think for
him personally, in his brand, there is a lot on
the line. He's Kurt Healing. Find him on Twitter at

(22:42):
Basketball Talk Again, read this stuff at NBC sports dot Com.
Recovers the n B A Hey, have a great weekend, Kurt,
and uh, yeah, enjoy the postseason. I'm looking forward to it.
I'm gonna, yeah, just camping out in front of the
TV all day Saturday. While my wife goes, hey, can
you do this? I'm like, no, I have not work anything.
Yeah do it. Can't do it. They look out for
those planes too. Yeah, yeah, I'll go. I'll go down

(23:06):
to the Long Beach Grand Prix here later and I'll
call you guys back and right on like that sounds good. Alright,
have a good one, Kurt. Can't do it. Can't do it. Yeah,
can't do it. What did I say when somebody says
you want to go to the Long Beach Grand Free it?
Can't do it and won't do it ever? Not every
one for this guy here alright, Dan Buyer Jonas knocks

(23:28):
in for Gottlieb here on Fox Sports Radio. Coming up next,
there is a there's a reported trade out there in
the NFL that would absolutely shock and rattle everybody in
the top ten of the NFL Draft. We'll tell you
what that reported trade is coming up next, but for
all the latest from around the world of sports, open

to the Long Beach Grand Prix years ago went and
it was surprisingly entertaining. I must say there was no YELP,
Purview or anything like that, so I just offer, just
got one then then gives like too to bring like

(24:11):
you know, no, it was a it was a passay, alright.
Only you can show up Stephen, none of the other
rip rap you hang up, hang out with Steve even
mac sense. Uh well, I don't live here near Long
Beach anymore, So no calling now and you can win
ticket to the Long Beach brand. Pree you guys mentioned.

(24:33):
Wide receiver Des Bryant was cut by Dallas. He was
a first rounder in last year. He started every game
but only had about eight hundred yards receiving on sixty
nine catches. Plenty of basketball news. The Charlotte Hornets fired
coach Steve Clifford after five seasons. They haven't won a
playoff series since two thousand two. The hornets new general
manager is Mitch cup Check, ext of the Lakers. Clifford
was a Lakers assistant before getting the Charlotte job. Philadelphia

(24:56):
center Joel Embid will officially miss Game one of the
playoff Saturday with his facial injury. Philadelphia end of the
regular season with a sixteen game winning streak, and half
of those games were without MBID. Steph Curry of Golden State,
with his bad knee, is targeting a return during the
second round in the postseason. According to Yahoo, Curry has
his three week evaluation on the knee tomorrow. The league

(25:17):
suspended Wizard's guard Jody Meeks twenty five games for a
PD violation. He can appeal, and the Lakers say a
Lonzo Ball and Kyle Kuzmo will not play Summer League
this year. The NBA playoffs start tomorrow. NHL playoffs continue tonight.
Dallas Stars head coach Ken Hitchcock has retired, and in
the MLB, it's Atlanta at the Cubs, scoreless, bottom of

(25:39):
the fourth at Wrigley Field. You Darvish on the mound
for the Cubs. Toronto has announced the third baseman, Josh
Donaldson goes on the disabled list with shoulder inflammation. Back
to you, I can't believe the Lakers aren't going for
back to back Summer League. I mean, I'm surprised that, honestly,
that that Ball wouldn't be playing. It's not like he
played every game right in her season. If you're talking

(26:01):
about a rookie being tired. I guess he's gonna ball out.
I just I mean, it's a little harsh. Guys. Thanks
Summer League. All thirty teams are going to be in
it this summer as well. It's just blowing up. I
can't I now that I look. You ever do do

(26:22):
something and you look back and go, I can't believe
I did that on the radio. You haven't done that before.
Like I do it a lot more often than I
like to admit, But I can honestly say now looking back,
I cannot believe how many segments I devoted to the
fning Summer League last year. What an embarrassment. I would
like to apologize. I would like to apologize for that
ratings dip to the bosses upstairs. My apologies. You are

(26:44):
going to double it this, trust me, and I'm telling
you Summer League jerseys are going to be on the horizon,
not just those reversible tanks that they wear. There's actually
going to be I I just have a feeling it's
more ways to sell stuff. They're gonna have to do it,
maybe even like summer logos, Like you can take this
Celtics logo and just put them in like you know,
swim trunks, you know, you know, something like that with

(27:04):
a tank top. You could do something. You know, before
before all the teams committed to playing in the Summer League.
You know what the slogan was for the summer though,
what's a summer league? Summer not? That's Jonas knocks, I'm
dan buyer. John Ramos is here as well on a
b k R edition of the Doug Gottlieb Show. NFL
Draft now less than two weeks away. Two weeks from today,

(27:26):
we're gonna be talking about the second and third rounds
that are about to take place in the NFL Draft,
with the first round already in the books. And there
was a report of this week Jonas that caught the
eye of many because it involved the New York Giants.
They are sitting at number two, and it's not that
everybody's a Giants fan, but it seems to be the
only piece now that would be movable within that top four.

(27:50):
Denver of course, would like to move up. I think
if if they could from number five, but the Giants
being willing to move number two seems like a possibility.
Uh As. Tony Pauline of Draft Analyst dot Com reported
that the Giants have a blueprint in place to swap
first round picks with the Buffalo Bills, so Buffalo, currently
sitting at twelve, would move up to two with the

(28:13):
Giants dropping down to twelve. What else would be included
is not known, but the report did state that this
trade likely would be done closer to the draft than
anything else, because the Giants still want to see what
they can get for the pick is part of the
package their Super Bowl twenty five ring. That yeah, little

(28:35):
little nineteen nineties NFL for you kids out there, a
little something that relevant to today's topic. When the NFL
was truly awesome, by the way, that little something for
you there, when Whitney Houston lips sank the National Anthem
a fraud. Yes, that Super Bowl game wasn't that great
now at the end, I mean it was. It was
field goals and miss you know, because the Bills were

(28:57):
so great offensively and they were keptain check. But nevertheless,
Bills Giants working together years ago, they weren't well and look,
the Bills have got to do something right there. There's
a couple of teams that you look at and you go,
if they want to get a quarterback this year, they've
got to pull the trigger, and it's a terrible spot
to be in. The Bills have already made one move
to jump up in the draft, you would assume there's

(29:17):
another one because if you need a quarterback and the
only move you make is to get up to what
twelve in the draft, I mean, what a waste of time?
Why did you even trade to begin with? So you
knew this had to be the second move that was there,
but you saw what the compensation was for the Jets
to move up three spots. The compensation and move up

(29:38):
ten spots is probably significant, but that changes the entire course.
If this happens, that changes the entire course of the draft,
because now you know, for certain, two quarterbacks are gone
the first two picks. You know for certain the Jets
are taking a quarterback rounds they wouldn't move up, And
now there's a race for the number four spot, and
everybody wanting that fourth quarterback, whether it be Donald Rose

(30:00):
in Alan or probably Mayfield at this point. So now
everybody's gonna be calling the Browns sitting at four, the
Broncos are sitting there at five. They may need to
overpay to move up one spot. To grab a quarterback
because the top four could be gone by the time
they pick. This is why I love the NFL Draft
because nine seven percent of it, I'm gonna give it
a hard nine scent, Dan, I'm gonna round up is complete. Bs,

(30:23):
It's crap. I love it. I love to swim in
this crap every single year. It's my favorite thing to
do during the year in sports radio. Well, when you
look at the Giants and you think about the scenarios,
because that's really the fun part of it, it would
it would benefit them to have this information leaked. I
don't think it benefits Buffalo that this comes out because
we know that they want to move up. And now

(30:44):
if you're saying, hey, Buffalo has got a deal, maybe
another team that you mentioned, maybe a Denver does trying
to jump up the three spots, or as you mentioned,
maybe they even try to move up the one. But
there are other teams Arizona could be in the market
for a quarterback as well. And Buffalo has put themselves
in a position, Jonas because of this right where they
kind of have to do a deal. They kind of
they kind of have to do another one because you

(31:04):
can't just go halfway and get the twelve and then
be like, all right, we're here, especially when when I
hear more and more that it may just be a
top ten heavy draft jury quarterback may fall to twelve,
But is it really the guy that you want? Are
you happy taking Lamar Jackson or a Mason Rudolph at
you know, at that point where maybe some people would
think it's a reach or my yeah, yeah, there you go. Absolutely,

(31:28):
And he is from Hawaii. Where where's who? I don't know.
I just like the name research Onta. No, he's from Richmond.
And he was okay, there is there is. That's that's
my bad. That's that's my bad. He builds sitting there

(31:52):
at twelve. Yeah, they have to do another move. The
Giants now just say all right, okay, we have got
this with the Buffalo Bills. They could tell any of
the other teams word we would drop tense spots, which
wouldn't make a lot of sense, and the Giants to
drop that far down. So that makes it to me
also to think, okay, the Giants ended up leaking this

(32:13):
to see if some other team, maybe earlier in the draft,
would also be willing to make a move to get
to number two. There's a lot of options here and
not and I don't think that the Giants are going
to take a quarterback. I still I think they are
trying to figure out a way to get Quintin Nelson
of the Giants. When I hear Dave Gentleman say hall
of Fame player, he seems to have Hall of Fame
player written all over him. And I think they're going

(32:35):
to try to figure out a way to do that.
Dropping the twelve wouldn't make any sense. This isn't about
the Bills. This is just the Giants trying to get
a better offer from another It's there. There's more. I
think there's more speculation than well, and this happens every year,
but I think this is why this is gonna happen
this year. More speculation of a potential move or trade
or possible multiple trades in the draft, and there will

(32:55):
actually be multiple trades in the draft, just because if
you're not going to get in the top four, or
you're wasting your time if you're not going to acquire
that Brown's pick. And this is where the number four
pick for the Browns comes in so handy. This is
why I think say Kwon Barkley is gonna drop farther.
Remember when everybody a couple of months ago was like,
he's gonna go never what overall? Stop? Okay, put the

(33:15):
Bob down. Be realistic here, It's gonna be three quarterbacks
for sure if this move is made in the top three,
and then somebody's gonna get into that top four. If
you're Denver, like a couple of months ago, you thought
you were sitting pretty top five pick, We'll take any
of the four. Now you're sitting there going maybe we've
got to be the ones to move up. Like Denver,
moving up with the Giants would make more sense because

(33:37):
it wouldn't cost as Yeah, the Giants wouldn't get as
much in return as Buffalo would have to give to
move of ten spots, but it would also keep the
Giants within striking range of a quote Hall of Fame
player that Dave got Leman was talking about. So Denver's
the team to watch because I think they acknowledge. If look,
if the Bears were gonna move up one spot on
draft night to take Trabiski because they didn't want to

(33:58):
take the chance they were gonna lose out on him,
then Denver's got to make a move as well too.
I just wonder whether or not always ego and everything
involved that comes with dealing with John Elway is enough
to where he's gonna say, all right, yeah, we'll concede.
We've got to make a move because I whipped on
the quarterback position, and we'll move without the three spots.
Think about this. The Denver Broncos started the offseason thinking

(34:18):
that they could maybe get the second best quarterback available
in the draft, and now, as you mentioned, may not
get their hands on any of it because you have
the Giants in Garrett too. At the time, you had
the Colts sitting there. Colts trade changed everything, Yeah, and
then you had the Browns. Why would they take another quarterback?
So at one point Denver's like, all right, we'll just
take the guy that is second. And obviously that has
changed and will change before the draft in less than

(34:40):
two weeks. Dan Buyer Jonas Knox in for Doug Gottlieb

As we are in for Doug today, And because we're

(35:24):
in for Doug that means Steve the Seger for me,
this is game time side on the Doug Gottlieb Show. Yeah,
and of course I knew that way ahead of time,
because Steve, what game are we playing today? I believe
psychics Y pack it in now. Steve looks like he

(35:50):
thrilled to be participating in psychic What we'll do is
we will know that we will pause to allow you
to make your bets. When we make these future adictions,
go back in time and bet on how how bad
vent too? Scott screwed the other day. Yeah, who would
have a vested interest in that the show? Who? I

(36:10):
don't know. Let's talk a lot about NBA playoffs since
they opened this weekend. Question number one to YouTube gentlemen,
will either number one seed in this postseason lose their
opening game this weekend to an eight seed? It is
Toronto hosting Washington tomorrow five thirty Eastern time. Houston's game
one at home against Minnesota is not until late Sunday night.

(36:32):
Let me see, I'm I'm not getting a clear picture,
Jonas in this crystal ball. I don't see any one
seed being upset, I say. Psychic says no, both the
Rockets and Raptors will win this weekend. Do you see
anything I see? Uh? Oh, that's what I hear a

(36:56):
dan series series say about this series is that, um,
you know, Steve, I actually I like Washington because of
Toronto's history and Toronto's history, and I don't necessarily buy
fully into Toronto, so I like Washington. But listen, I'll
have a better reading after all the games are over,

(37:19):
won't we All? Toronto has lost game one of a
series ten straight times, by the way, Which individual player
will score the most points in this opening weekend of
the playoffs, Guys who scored a lot of points regular season,
names like Lebron Harden Anthony Davis, who scores the most
this weekend in a game one Jonas, would you like

(37:39):
to take a stab? Where can I grab the rains? You?
You grab the rains? Dan, It's going to be you
ready for this off the mark? C J. McCollum, Yes, yes,
you mark that down against the Pelicans. So much is
gonna be on Damian Lillard and the focus. They're gonna
be a high scoring game. But c J. McCollum will
go for forty plus against the Pelicans. Steve, I'm gonna

(38:00):
say Lebron James, this is the me year for Lebron James.
It's all about him. He's a blowhard. He wants to
showcase his skills to everybody. I'm gonna say, Lebron James,
So this is like any other year. Unlike any other year.
That's what you're saying. Um, you know, I'm catching a
little bit of the sarcasm. Doesn't always it doesn't always
come through on the radio. Thank you, and this overproduced

(38:22):
segment continuing. Who will have the largest margin of victory
this weekend? In the NBA, the Rockets, I'm told at
the largest favorite at eleven and a half points. Interesting.
You know, I'm seeing seeing some gold in this. I think, oh,
there's interesting. I'm seeing some blue and gold. I think

(38:44):
it's the Golden State Warriors with a big win to
start things off Saturday against the spur Pacers. I'm getting
not the Pacers, Steve, I'm getting more of a broad
reading here. I'm more of a broad reading. A lot
of things coming at me. I actually think the largest
margin of victory this weekend in the NBA playoffs will

(39:05):
be from one of the teams playing. Interesting, So you're
saying not the Lakers, and again they with the personal attacks.
I mean, Steve, you don't have to take out the franchise.
They're they're trying to win a back to back summer
league time. So you want a gambling question? Are taking
the weekend off? Is that what? I just I just listen.
It's a broad reading, Steve. I don't need to be

(39:27):
bullied into a pick. I just I have a broad reading.
I don't want to lie to the Sorry bullying was
not in flight, or you might have to be contacting
HR after this segment as far as Steve Kerr and
the Steph Curry health coach coach Kurr dr K NBR.
The question is Curry playing at all? First round? He's
not practicing or anything. And make three weeks on Saturday,

(39:49):
that's when we said the doctors will reevaluate him. He's
not anywhere close to playing. I can tell you that
is he playing in the first round? If not when
exactly No, he's not gonna play in the first round.
He will be there mid second round series. I'm getting
more of a another broad reading is coming through a
lot of bad I don't know if it's the wind

(40:09):
down here in southern California. But Steve, as I look
into this crystal ball, I am seeing that he might
and he might not play in the opening round of
the playoffs. This is game time on the Duck Gottlieb Show.
It's very interesting that we have this crystal ball here

(40:30):
because as I look into the crystal ball, I see something.
I see this segment, and I see the segment ending
very very soon. And John Ramosucio as well on this
Friday the thirteen, So glad to have Yanna on the
eve of the NBA Playoffs and Dez Bryant is gonna

(40:53):
be looking for work, tweeting out let's start the process,
hashtag unbothered, hashtag throw up the X. There's also reports
des Bryant was released today that he said to the reporters,
I'll see you guys twice next year. I don't know
if that means that he's going to find a home

(41:13):
the NFC East, or if he feels that maybe the
team that he goes to will play the Cowboys in
the regular season then again in the playoffs. I don't
think he overthought it. However, maybe that could lend some
information on where Dez Bryant could end up. I have
an idea that means he's going to play for two teams.
The first team will have played the Cowboys early in

(41:33):
the season, and then after he gets released, he'll sign
with another team that plays Dallas later in the season.
Very Adrian Peterson eske like with the Saints and then
going to the Cardinals. I'll show you well, we'll see
if that's how things turn with Dez Bryant. We're gonna
talk about the Dez Bryant situation and look ahead to
the NFL Draft in about fifteen minutes, is Bucky Brooks

(41:54):
of the NFL Network will join us. But it is
the eve of the NBA playoffs. Eight games coming up
this weekend, four on Saturday, four on Sunday. And I
will say this Jonas, the NBA has done a great
job in extending their season at the end of the year.
Used to just end with the finals and then you
have the draft like the next week, and then it
would be over with until the first week of the

(42:16):
season at the end of October. Now you've got an
earlier start to the regular season. Free agency has dominated
so much these last couple of years, so you're talking
NBA well into July. But the NBA has also done
a great job, in my mind, in making this opening
weekend very unique to have these games, and it has
become someone It's not a must watch, but it is

(42:39):
something that you will rely on knowing that you're going
to likely catch I would say six of the eight games.
Maybe you've got some other stuff to do on Saturday
or Sunday, but you're gonna be able if you're a
basketball fan, to get a good chunk of playoff watching
in this opening weekend that the NBA almost almost streets
like a holiday to have all series getting underway Saturday, well,

(43:03):
especially since everybody has the understanding or people go into
each regular season with the idea of I know who
the best teams are. The regular season means nothing. Get
me to the postseason. Okay, here it is. And I
will say this, I think this year's postseason is much
more interesting than last year's was. As far as the
opening round series go. We we talked about it. We've
talked about it a ton. It was a month and

(43:24):
a half of worthless basketball and then you got to
the NBA Finals and then the NBA Finals were done
in five games. So I think there's a lot more
compelling matchups. Some of the injuries, players being on new
teams have really sort of added a little bit of
spice and some interest into this opening round with all
the matchups around the seventy sixers being in there a

(43:45):
fun team to watch, a lot of talkers, you know.
That's that's a team you can watch and be entertained
by so and and The n b A try has
been trying for years to figure out how can we
do what the NFL does Where the NFL places benchmark
like in radio, we call benchmark segments where you know
you're getting to a certain segment, like the John Ramo Show.
Normally it's an hour three of this three hour short show.

(44:06):
This time it's gonna be an hour four of this
three hour show, so you know what's coming up. But
the NFL has always figured out a way to make
the draft a benchmark segment, to make O t a s,
free agency, all these different things throughout the course of
the off season to keep people interested. And the NBA
took that and now they've done it themselves to where,
like you said, they've spread it out. Free agency in

(44:29):
the NBA has blown NFL free agency out of the water.
But now is the go time to where everybody's best
for the most part, with outside of a couple of injuries,
is going to be playing everybody's best, and you just
you hope for at least something better than what we've
gotten last year. What's unique with this first weekend and
really with the playoffs is how things fell out in
the playoffs in the Western Conference, there's only two teams

(44:50):
of the Pacific time zone. There are five teams of
the West that play in the Central time zone, so
you're gonna have unique tip offs the latest the Minnesota
Two Bowls in Houston, Rockets will play the last game
on Sunday, two teams in the same time zone to
tipping off at nine o'clock Eastern Time. Usually that would
have been like a Clippers game, Portland ends up playing
the late game on Saturday. But you've only got Golden

(45:12):
State in Portland being West Coast or Pacific time zone teams,
so that makes the scheduling unique. So we'll have to
wait for the pretty much the entire weekend to see
the Rockets and Timberwolves. And that's something that I want
to see Jonas, because I think that this playoff series,
and if you look back and just in recent history
on where these playoffs have started, whether it be last

(45:35):
year with Kevin Durant at Golden State, when Lebron took over,
when he went back to Cleveland, in those playoffs were
built for one player to succeed. There were a lot
of storyline short calves, Warriors. Repeat was something that we
all looked forward to last year. But when it came
down to what player was going to be affected the

(45:57):
most or have their legacy affected the most, it was
Kevin Durant, and I think it was the same thing
with Lebron James the first time when he came here,
when he returned to Cleveland in the first series that
they played with Golden State. I think that that's a
theme and I think James Harden has that on his
shoulders this time because he has the most to lose
yet the most to gain in this playoff run if

(46:18):
they are able to win an NBA title, and it's
such a huge gap Jonas because if they don't, if
they fall short of the Western Conference Finals to Golden State,
which I think many people are looking at the Western
Conference Finals as being the NBA Finals as it is,
but now you're gonna start to have Oh, James Harden
just can't take his team. Maybe Chris Paul gets some

(46:39):
of it, but I think that James Harden has the
most to gain and the most to lose of any
player by far in this postseason. I would have said
before the injury, and before the early injury in the
season to Hayward that it would have been Kyrie Irving
that if the Celtics are healthy, this is about Kyrie
of him, because he's the one that made the bold
decision to leave and go somewhere else um to your
point also on the James, and I don't disagree with you,

(47:01):
But I also think there's some pressure on Chris Paul
because he's been on a playoff team and a couple
of different stops now and he doesn't have a whole
hell of a lot to show for it. So I
think there's some pressure on Chris Paul. So I think
that's another interesting one as well too, because Chris Paul's
at the point to where what is there left for
him to do other than win a title? That's it.
I mean, he's gonna be a Hall of Famer. He's

(47:21):
one of the best guards that we've seen in the
last ten to fifteen years. So he's got to go
win a title. And then listen, Mike D'Antoni, I mean,
what's he done. I mean, he gets to the postseason
with Phoenix, he has a great regular season, he gets
there and they were never able to pull through. So
I think there is a lot of pressure on Houston,
and that's why I just I want to see I know,

(47:44):
the opening round against Minnesota and everybody just assumed this
is gonna be a sweep for Houston. Minnesota's got no shot.
I mean what if Minnesota goes in there and wins
one of those games. Now the pressure starts up again.
Now you've got people thinking, man, this style of basketball
doesn't work in the postseason. Here we go again. And
then so that that would give me something some you know,
things to look out for if you're a Houston Rockets

(48:05):
fan or just a casual fan of wants something interesting.
Kurt Healing of NBC sports dot Com, the managing editor
covering the NBA, joined us earlier to talk about James
Harden and the Rockets and his role in this postseason.
Arguably the best most consistent offensive player in the league
for the last three or four years. Absolutely, and if
they don't win a title, if if they don't at

(48:27):
least push the here is really hard. You start to
go back to that. The theme that he's not able
to step it up in the playoffs is there and
I or not, you know, in Russell Westbrook didn't have
this last year because number one, we we felt, at
least I felt that Russell Westbrook was going to win
the m v P last year, even though we didn't

(48:47):
have it until the end of the season because of
the New Awards show. You just had that sense, but
not a lot was expected, and you mentioned the addition
of Chris Paul. I still think it's James Harden's team,
and that's why he has the most to gain or lose.
Your point about Kyrie Irving, Kyrie Irving may have the
most to gain if the Celtics end up losing in
the first round of of this series just for him

(49:09):
not being there. I think they're gonna be able to
score at will even with them, I mean against the Bucks.
It'll be a unique series. But I don't think Boston's
gonna have any trouble scoring in that series. But if
Boston does flame out without their star player, maybe Kyrie
Irving does have the most to gain in all of
this without losing anything, because he's already out of question.

(49:29):
You would agree though, that this is much more interesting
than last season. I mean not even close. Yes, there's
you can go through every single like Oklahoma City. So
Oklahoma City's got the Utah Jazz, which is gonna be
a tough out for anybody because Utah plays good basketball
and Quinn Snyder's done a great job and Donovan Mitchell
is fantastic. But like I mean, if Oklahoma City is

(49:50):
done in the first round and they're the favorite. If
you're Paul George, you want to stick around for that.
I mean, you gave it a go. You supposedly are
better than any more last year, and you're you're being
eliminated by a five seed. I mean, I don't I
don't know if I'm Paul Trude. That's why I think
this opening round there's a lot of things that are
that are hinging on how teams, certain teams and players

(50:11):
perform in the opening round. And Oklahoma City is an
interesting one to watch. Um Philadelphia. Miami is really really
fun based on the White Side and Joel embiid trash
talk that went on from time to time, and there
was the thinking that nobody in the East really wanted
to match up with Miami because they could be a
pain in the postseason. So I'm looking forward to much

(50:32):
more than the past couple of years. I'm looking forward
to the opening The only series that I truly think
doesn't have as much intrigue or even questions is Golden
State San Antonio. Every other one you could point to
something of being like Okay, that's intriguing, or if this
turns this way, it could go that way, it's the

(50:53):
only one. And I did argue, and it's the Spurs
have been great for twenty plus years, Jonas in this
straight playoff streak, this is one of the only few
times where they don't have a legit shot at winning
a title. And and I I wish Denver could have
been in that spot. And it's not because I don't
want to see the Spurs, just I don't want to
see the Spurs when they don't have a chance to win,

(51:14):
and when we've seen it over and over and so
if you put, like if you even put the Nuggets
in that warrior spot playing as well as they did
at the end of the season. I think every single
series has a unique storyline, even just even something of
I mean, the Sixers at Heat is going to be
one that we're gonna talk about the are the Sixers
for real? We mentioned Buck Celtics. When Kurt Healing came

(51:36):
on with us, he mentioned Wizards Raptors of if kN
Toronto actually win a game one in this series. So
all of that, the only one that I just like, alright,
whatever is Gilton State, San Antonio, which is gonna tip
things off tomorrow. I think we've just learned something about
Dan Buyer. So let's let's just do a couple of
things here. Favorite NFL team, Seattle, the team you wished

(51:59):
was in the post season Denver. Two places where weed
is legal. A pothead is a podhead living in California. Yeah, yes,
they you know, just connect the dots there, yeah, John

love out to them. It's gonna be at J. S.
Ramos zero six. There you go, there you go. You're
welcome San Diego, John Ramos. Yeah, we are on in
San Diego. Alright, Yes, love love being on in San Diego. Man,
I gotta go to Peco Park. I've never been to
Petco Park. Yeah, I've never been there. So I've been

(54:36):
to San Dieg. I've been to gas Lamp District. I've
vomited there at least three or four times. But I've
never been to Petco Park. I went like in two
thousand four, well it was I think it was in
the first year that Peto opened, when I was still
living in the Midwest. Met my buddy up in the
Bay Area. We drove all the way down and uh yeah,
I chumped out again. Cubs Padres fight broke out in

(54:56):
the right field stands all right, those Cub fans. Yeah,
by the way, And wouldn't you like a bigger tax refund?
All right? Because tax Layer was highest rated for maximum refunds,
So you have more cash to spend on whatever the
heck you want this tax season. Go out to go
out and slay at max your refund at tax layer
dot com. That was a smooth read. The NFL Draft

(55:16):
is less than two weeks away, and there's other big
news in the NFL today. To join us to talk
about both and a whole lot more, are good Friend
for the NFL Network. Former player in NFL scout Bucky
Brooks joins us here on Fox Sports Radio. Hey, Bucky,
how you doing. I'm good, I'm good, I'm good. Yeah.
Let's start with this Dez Bryant release. We knew that

(55:37):
there was going to be a meeting with Jerry Jones
and Dez Bryant today and in the end it ends
up that Dez Bryant is cut. Any of this surprise
you at all, whether it be on the service or
something deeper. Any surprises from the Cowboys of their move
of releasing Dez Bryant, I'm surprised waited so late to
make the move. If they decided that DEVI was not
going to be on the Teage Strifty due to performance,

(55:59):
I thought they were to be dragging it out to
squeeze them and they're taking a salary cut. But because
they didn't do that, it would have been in their
best interest and even in Desert's best interest to let
him go at the beginning of the off season, because
if you let him go to the beginning of the
off season, when you think about entertaining some of the
cree agent wide receivers that they may have kind of
talked to you behind closed doors, it would have created

(56:19):
an easy opportunity for them to see a spot where
they could come in. Also, now because they've done it
two weeks before the draft, where everyone knows that they've
kept their hand in terms of what they have to
get in the draft. So if there was a receiver
that they were very interested in in the first round,
other teams now know if we have interest in the
same guy, we have to get in front of the Cowboys.
So the Cowboys have basically played their hands two weeks

(56:42):
before the draft. It just makes it very difficult for
them to execute the plan that they may have wanted
to execute on draft the Hey, Bucky, how much value
does does Bryant have right now at this point in
his career? You know, it's tough because I was under
the impression and looking at him on take that he's
a guy that was a decline player. He's having a
tough time creating separation, he would no longer the dominant

(57:04):
player that really lived the league from twelve fourteen. However,
when I talk to about colleagues be why, she said, Look,
it's gonna be an aggressive market for dead Bryan. They're
already a handful of teams that have said that there's
they're interested in bringing him in, when one of those
was a rival within the Cowboys Division. So yeah, there's
going to be a market for him. I think at

(57:24):
the end of the day, though, we'll have to see
what the money is like. I can't imagine dead brand
getting what he was expected to get this year, which
was twelve and a half million dollars. Maybe if someone
comes up to nine or ten million dead to be
enough to get it done. We will see. Because interest
is cool until it's time to write to check, We'll
see you kind of check people are willing to write
for dead Line. I wonder if that team arrhymes with Tushington.

(57:46):
I'm just just a gas, just a guess. Oh man, him,
him and him and Josh Norman in training camp together
going one on one all please sign me up for that, please?
I mean I think it would be all one under
bridge it but I do believe it could be a
good spot when you look at what the risk end
they're doing. They're having to continue to rebuild the offense

(58:07):
under Alex Smith. Alex Smith needs guys that can expand
the strikes on Des Mine can't necessarily separate. But what
you can't deny he's still one of the best ball
guys that we have in the league. And so if
Alex Smith can get comfortable playing with a guy like
deve Brand on the perimeter, with Josh Dockins who also
can play above the rim, you would read who also

(58:27):
can play above the rim, he won't have a pretty
talented wide receiver Corps and Washington if they're able to
pull it off. If that is the team that we're
talking about, what's interested in Dez Line. Bucky Brooks of
the NFL Network joining us here on Fox Sports Radio.
He's Jonas Knocks. I'm Dan Buyer in for Doug Gottlieb today.
You quote retweeted this and we talked about this at
the top of what Dallas has now that Des Bryant

(58:48):
isn't there anymore. Is this a move for them that's
based solely on salary? Is it based on Dak Prescott.
What is Dallas is I guess move forward considering their
depth that wide receiver and the heck, the wide receiving
position when you throw tight end is either old or
very thin. What what is the Dallas angle on the

(59:08):
field for the release and where do they go from
this point? Bucky Well, I think you gotta look at
everything in totality. The thing about the Dallas Cowboys early
in the off season, Stephen Jones's talked about, we need
to make this offense Dak Frimp. You need to put
him in a situation where he's not running to any
romo's offense with modifications, but he's running an offense that
is designed for him. That means we'll see more of

(59:30):
the stuff that we saw him do at the CP State.
We'll see more of these stuff that allows them to
be an athlete on the edge. And more importantly, they
got us surround him with the right kind of players
That kind of plays to his strength. When you look
at his inability to connect with Davis Bland, some of
it was a lack of trust between them. Some of
them would due to a lack of separation that Dave
couldn't create on the perimeter. So now, if you're rebuilding

(59:52):
this offense, you want guys who are very very comfortable
playing in the spread offense that they're familiar with how
it goes about executing those lift the bubble screens or
some of the rs or some of the other things
that they want to do. They're looking to retool this offense,
and so in the draft, I would expect them to
get at least two receivers that can do it. One
early maybe one different middle round player, but two guys

(01:00:15):
that are explosive dynamics and they're very comfortable doing the
things that they're going to ask their receivers to do.
But make Dak Prescott comfortable as the number one quarterback, Bucky.
There's a report out that the Giants and the Bills
have the blueprint for a deal for the Bills to
move up to the number two pick, clearly to take
a quarterback. If you're moving up that high. If that

(01:00:36):
move is made and the Bills are picking it, to
what order are we seeing quarterbacks go the first four?
If we're talking about the four best quarterbacks in the draft, Mayfield, Rose,
and Donald Josh Allen in no particular order, what order
did they end up going. If that move is made, well,
I think there's Buffalo gets up the number two. I
think you see three quarterbacks come off the board. If

(01:00:56):
we're going off of smoke signals, I would say it
would probably be Alan, Donald, Rosen, and may Field somewhere thereafter. Uh.
I don't like it necessarily Josh Allen as the number
one quarterback in this draft at the number one pick
in this draft. But let's just say we go and
connect the boats. On John Dorsey's draft history, here's a
guy that typically opts for projection and potential over production.

(01:01:21):
You look at what he did last year, taking Pat
Mahomes over Deshaun Watson. Pat Mahomes was clearly at the
developmental guy, with Deshaun Watson appeared to be a little
more ready to go based on what he accomplished in college.
You go all the way back to him picking a
Fisher overlook Joco, same situation. Jokouh was probably a little
more polished. Fisher was a better athlete. You go back

(01:01:41):
to his time in Green Bay. He saw strong um
quarterback like Brad Fas win three straight m v p
s on the strength of a big arm and exceptional
athleticism and Josh Allen. They may envision him developing like that,
taking a gamble, a big swing on his upside as
opposed to anything that he has done during his collegiate career.
Key Brooks joining us here on Fox Sports Radio. Find

(01:02:02):
Bucky on Twitter at Bucky Brooks. Of course NFL analysts,
we're talking NFL Draft, and also touched on Dez Bryant's
release a little bit earlier. Do you see the dots
connecting to maybe a Lamar Jackson Bill Belichick marriage in
New England? There have been reports of of maybe that
being a place where Lamar Jackson could go. Do you
see that as a fit for the Louisville quarterback? I mean,

(01:02:24):
it's potentically it could be a fit because the one
thing that Bill Belichick has done is he did a
great job of taking players w and put him in
a situation where they can to see. He has a
great understanding of how to play to a players strength.
And so when you look at Lamar Jackson's strength and
you look at what he does y very well as
you do it through the quarterback, he certously craft an
offense wh The help with Josh Mdani is to do it.

(01:02:46):
I think you have to remember last year doing the page.
He's were victimized by the Shan Watson early in his
career with Bill will Blant kind of remaking that offense.
They also were really hurt by Cam Newton running up
all kinds of stats on the earlier in the year.
Do A three quarterbacks typically intrigued defensive coaches because they
understand the sounds of defending them. Lamar jackson skills is

(01:03:08):
a doual for a playmakers. Could um intrigued Bill Belichick
in terms of what he could do with the next level.
John Payton is also another guy who could take on
who also could takes on the Lamar Jackson and build
a really creative offense around his talent. I know everyone
sees what he's been able to do with Drew Brees
and thinks that he would want someone like that. Sometimes
these innovators like to do different things. Lamar Jackson and

(01:03:32):
Sean Payton could be a very good us in Heaven,
all right, Bucky Brooks last one for me before we
let you go. Bucky Brook's NFL network analysts one of
the best in the business, which so far this offseason
has been your favorite draft smoke signal that has been
thrown out there, one that you heard or read and
you said, I can't believe people actually think this is
a possibility. Who um, I think the toughest thing might

(01:03:56):
have been in like the Saklan Barkley's going now the
one overall, even though I would love it because he's
the best player in the draft. I just believe that,
right man, we at a time where everyone over values
quarterbacks that they're willing to over draft quarterbacks to quote
unquote get the got so more teams are willing to
Bata has a really really good players to get a
quarterback because I guess you have to have one to

(01:04:18):
win games. And so the Sacon brought the one number one.
Based on Cleveland's history of podcasts and so many quarterbacks
in recent years, it's just kind of impossible the things
that they would not get a quarterback at number one
when the fans this gem forging to get a Planchise got.
He's Bucky Brooks, NFL analysts covering the drafted so much more.
Heck find him on Twitter at Bucky Brooks. Find him

(01:04:39):
on Instagram at Big Play Football. You can also go
to Big Play Football Dot com as well. Get to
talk to you again, Bucky. All right, thanks so much,
Dan Buyer, Jonas knocks in for Doug Gottlieb here on
Fox Sports Radio. You can get Dan on Twitter. By
the way, at Dan Buyer on Fox you can find
me a d Jonas knocks Coming up next though, we're

(01:05:00):
gonna do something that maybe a little bit reckless. All right,
but screw it. It's Friday one. We're gonna let it fly.
And I just want you to know ahead of time,
this is a hundred percent Dan Buyer's idea. In case
we get in trouble upstairs, this is Dan Buyer's idea.
Find out what idea that is next year on Fox
Sports Radio. But for all the latest from around the

(01:05:21):
world of sports, ladies and gentlemen, you just make your
way part the seas for the great Steve to say.
That's a team player, Jonas. Next way to go, We
have two NFL items for you. Not only does Bryant
being cut, but Seattle has agreed to a deal with
kicker Sebastian Janikowski. Except drafted in the first round in
two thousand, he turned forty last month. Meanwhile, the Cowboys

(01:05:43):
waved goodbye they say regrettably to wide receiver Dez Bryant,
who did last year start every game but only had
about eight hundred yards receiving on sixty nine catches. He
was targeted a hundred thirty two times last season six
touchdowns for Dallas to the NBA. The Charlotte Hornets fired
coach Steve Lifford after five seasons. Philadelphia center Joel Embid
will officially miss game one of the playoffs on Saturday.

(01:06:06):
NBA playoffs began league wide tomorrow. NHL playoffs continue tonight.
Dallas Stars head coach Ken Hitchcock retired the Major League Baseball.
The Braves lead for nothing at Wrigley Field bottom of
the sixth against the Cubs. Starter You Darvish allowed four
runs in the fifth and then exited after a two
out wild pitch and a three run homer. White Socks
at Minnesota has been postponed by bad weather. Tonight Toronto's

(01:06:28):
at Cleveland. The Indians have won five in a row,
but the Blue Jays have placed third baseman Josh Donaldson
on the d L with shoulder inflammation. Donaldson's average thirty
three homers per season over the last five years. Colorado's
at Washington tonight. Rocky Star oilfielder Charlie Blackman still out
with a quad injury. Back to you, you'd say the
Cowboys were the des dispenser today the veteran wide receiver.

(01:06:52):
Thank you very much. Steve. All the audience warming up
for the John Ramos Show in about an hour or so.
He's Jonas Knocks. I'm Dan Buyer. That is John Ramos.
As you just heard Steve to Sega Roll and for
Doug today on the Doug got Leap Show here on
Fox Sports Radio. You can always listen on the I
Heart Radio appid serious XM channel three. We've talked a
lot of NFL today, and we've talked a lot of NBA.

(01:07:16):
First ninety minutes we listen, it's baseball season, and we
know that baseball is at the heart of John Ramos,
right it is. It is in your blood. So let's
play a little baseball game today, socks of baseball. All right,
it's a new game. It's called B A or B

(01:07:36):
A c s John Rasmos. John Ramos has to figure
out if it's a batting average of a current Major
League baseball player or the blood alcohol content of a
famous athletes who got busted for d u y okay, John,
Now what we are trying to do, Jonas and I
are gonna give you a number. For example, if we

(01:08:01):
were to say point four zero zero, you would say
B A or B A C whichever you thought it
would be, and you would say, I would say B
A C. That would be correct, yes, And you would
hear that because that was Aldon Smith's blood alcohol content
when he was busted this week. Now, if you would
have gotten it wrong and said batting average, we would

(01:08:23):
have heard you got to be kidding me. So that's
how we are going to know if John Ramos does
gets it right or wrong in B A or B
A C. That's a powerful hawk Harrelson drop he gone
because once he said that the music was gone, no
way to be bad, right, That music that we were
just hearing is gone. John? Are you ready to play? Dan?

(01:08:46):
I'm always all right. Let's strike up some fogerty and
B A or B A C. Are ready to go there?
Get the hands clapping? Yeah? All right? John? First number
point to seven three, is that A B A or
A B A C. I think that's A B A Dan, John,

(01:09:08):
that's what that's what Mike Trout of the Angels is
hitting so far this season? All right, Johnny, you ready
for this? Jonas, I'm always ready to one seven? Is
that a B A or a B A C. I
hope that's a bat? Shout out to Michael Floyd, everybody, Yeah,

(01:09:33):
I go Floyd. Hey, sir, what are you doing there?
I'm trying to take a nap? Neat you're at a stoplight? Okay.
I don't know if you're trying to be Tony LaRussa
for Halloween, but we need you to get out of
the road, by the way Alden Smith, the Ted Williams
of this game. Yes, by by reaching the four mark.
All right, John, are you're ready to go? Ready to go?

(01:09:53):
For a question number three? Yes, you are one for
two right now? Point one seven zero blood alcohol content
or a batting average of a current Major League baseball player.
I like the B A, so let's let's do B
A again. That's what all number five? Donovan McNabb a

(01:10:16):
blue to police. Yes, a B A C of point
one seven zero legally drunk. We'll disappoint, I'll be honest
with you. For an alcoholic John is not very good
at this. Well, it does the registers. It gets the
point three? Oh for John? All right, John, for real
this time? You're ready for this? Yes, for real? Yes?

(01:10:38):
Point to to two. Is that A B A or
A B A C. Well, I've been having a bad
time with B A, so I'm gonna go B A C. Yeah.
P J Tucker, everybody, p J Tucker. Now the rockets
that I think it was a member of the Sun's
when that was his A B A C. Let's see

(01:10:59):
if you can continue this streak. I don't think you're
gonna get to DiMaggio levels. However, you've got one in
a row. What about point two for one? That sounds
like a badden average Dane is hitting so far this season?

(01:11:22):
All right, John, you ready for this? Hit me Jonas.
Here we go, John, this is a B A or
B A C. Here on Fox Sports Radio, John one
seven three? Is that A B A or A B
A C. Let's give him a little time because this
could be a really good time at a party, or
it could be an awful start to the season. I'm

(01:11:45):
gonna say it's a I hate to say it's I
think it's a bad in average B A. Hey, he
turned it around. Everybody, Yeah, you just needed a couple
of SIPs out of that flask. John, I knew you'd
be all right. All right, all you're ready. This song
is so bad by the way, point one four zero. Wow,

(01:12:07):
we can't do two ba's back to back that low.
It's got to be A B A C. Dan. John
is outstanding at this game. Michael Phelps just over the
legal limits point one four zero. They wonder why he
was driving the car in the pool, John, Johnny ready, man,

(01:12:30):
let me start the song again. Hold on, alright, Okay,
here we go smooth. By the way, for you listening
on the podcast, you'll enjoy this. All right, John, you're ready? Yes,
B A C or B A two three seven B
A or B A C. What's the legal it's point five? Oh,

(01:12:51):
that's death. That's death. That's when you're dead, John, uh
point oh eight? It's the point five Oh? Is you
are legally dead? Yeah? John? Uh? Point five oh? Was
Beethoven's at the time of his passing. I don't I
don't believe Jesus God. You imagine John like grabbing a

(01:13:14):
shovel and a breathalyzer and going to cemetery. Excuse me,
we'd like to find out a little something about you
point six? Oh is Nick Nulty? Yeah yeah, alright. So
here on the corpse Stalk Radio, John Ramos b A
or B A C two three seven, John, I'm gonna
say that's a B A You have gotten a right John,

(01:13:39):
Jeff Garcia with a two three seven. That's some drinking man. Good,
that's almost three times a legal limit. That's, by the way,
Jeff Garcia no relation to Eddie Garcia. Um, let's see
John point to one seven. I'm gonna say this, that's
a batting average. Okay, on we already get it to you.

(01:14:03):
Earlier in the game. That was Michael Floyd's blood alcohol
content earlier. Maybe maybe John is drunk. You want to
all right, Johnny, ready for this final one? Here we go,
right there we go one three six batting average or

(01:14:23):
B A C. John, I'm gonna I'm gonna say A
B A C. Jonas, that is correct, Well done John,
by the way, that is John's B A C. Right
now we are breathalyzer before there is. Unfortunately, we never
got to Chris Davis, who had the lowest of all
of them, banning a buck twenty two Right now for
the Baltimore Orioles. Unfortunately we did not get to Chris Davis,

(01:14:47):
who was five for forty one at the plates. Is
that the most comprehensive baseball segment in the history of
sports reading? And I think it's. If not, it's got
to be up there. So batting average or blood alcohol
content is going to sweep the nation. Good job, John.

That guy is Dan Buyer. I am Jonas Knox and
for Doug Gottlieb here on Fox Sports Radio. Coming up
next here on fs ARE, there is some very controversial
remarks were made about one of the most divisive athletes

(01:15:29):
in recent sports history. Find out what those were next
here on fs ARE And I guess we're the boys
because the boys are back in town. Yeah, Guy Friday,
that's Jonas Knox. I'm Dan Buyer. That giggle you heard
his John Ramos as difficult on Ramos as possible. Glad
to have you with us. Doug gets a deserved day

(01:15:52):
off here, there and everywhere in San Diego taking in
some Padres baseball last night again the uh, the Giants.
So so we're in for Doug today. Doug will be
back on Monday. But just because Doug's gone doesn't mean
we do what Doug does and now don't do what

(01:16:13):
Doug does. But you kind of get what I'm saying.
What does the Fox say? And the Fox I guess
today is Clay Travis. Earlier on I'll Kick the Coverage
on Fox Sports Radio, Clay Travis addressed the Colin Kaepernick
situation involving the Seattle Seahawks. To me, this is evidence
of I think Colin Kaepernick really not wanting to get
a job in the NFL. Because look, if Colin Kaepernick

(01:16:36):
said this is what I said a couple of weeks ago.
So if Colin Kaepernick came out and said I'm not
gonna kneeld during the national anthem, but I'm gonna donate
my entire paycheck to political causes that I care about
and I want to play football again, I'd be fine
with any team signing him. So that was Clay saying,
donate all you want don't kneel, and I'm good with it.

(01:16:58):
I in ace point there. I think the kneeling message
has ran its course. I don't think that kneeling has
the same effect as it did when this started with
Colin Kaepernick on the sidelines. I think that there's that
this sort of way to express your displeasure is now

(01:17:21):
it's been not only has it been changed and been
viewed so many different ways, but I don't think the
effect of it would institute change. So I think that
the kneeling portion, I think it would be the best
interest of Colin Kaepernick and really any NFL player to
move on and try to find a new way to
express what they are not happy about. I think that

(01:17:43):
this is ran its course. Jonas So when Clays is
the point of of Colin Kaepernick not kneeling, actually think
that is in Kaepernick or any other player's best interests.
I don't think it has the same effect as it
once did. Dan, if you were trying to get a
job in radio, you really wanted the job, you had
to get this job in radio first starting out, needed
to get this job, and the boss at the radio

(01:18:05):
station when you went to go apply at said, uh
are you gonna shave because we see you got some
facial hair. Are you gonna shave? If you said to him,
I don't know, I don't know if I'm gonna shave. Ye,
I'm not really sure about it yet. I'm you know,
I haven't really decided. Is he going to hire you
and just go, ah, well, we'll just hope you're shaved,
don't worry about it. We'll just hope you shave. Or

(01:18:25):
is he gonna find somebody else that's willing to do
what he feels comfortable with in order to get this job?
More likely to find someone. And so my point being,
if if your boss or a place that you go
to work at asks you not to do something or
to do something that they don't feel comfortable or comfortable with,
and you decide you don't want to do it, guess what,

(01:18:46):
You're not going to get the job. It doesn't mean
you're being blackballed. They just want somebody who's not going
to do these things. And if they're asking the question
about it, the idea that Kaepernick was just oh, this
is a this right here an example of the NFL,
and people are out to get uh. Colin Kaevernick and
all that stop, Like, you also have to look at
the situation. The Seahawks just spent an entire offseason ridding

(01:19:10):
themselves of the outspoken players in the locker room because
they embrace it, they welcomed it. But doesn't it feel
like you're a Seahawks fan, now it's time to get
back to football. Enough with the talking, enough with all
this stuff. We want guys that are gonna come here
and want to play and compete. I think what can
be misconstrued is that it looks like they got rid
of Michael Bennett and Richard Sherman because they talked about protests.

(01:19:34):
I don't think that that was the case. I think
it's Richard Sherman yelling at the coaching stace about throwing,
you know, throwing the football into the end zone. I
think that's that's one of the issues. I think trading
Michael Bennett to the Eagles is also trading a player
who had a high salary that is maybe not going
to be the same player that he once was. I
think that those are the issues that that he moved on.

(01:19:57):
I have no problem with what the Seahawks did. To
Clay's point, this is the this is the main thing.
If you have an idea, great. If you don't like
my idea, you better have one as well. Don't you
say no to my idea. So what Clay is saying
is like, listen, don't kneel, But if you want to

(01:20:20):
continue your cause with your salary, go right ahead or whatever.
It doesn't even have to be a salary thing. Jonas
if you've got a plan B. And we say plan
B because I think that's what the Seahawks wanted to know.
Is there another way that we could do this? The
organization didn't seem to shy away from any of the protests.
I think they just wanted to know what he was
going to do and how that message would be sent.
Because now kneeling has gotten so many different messages and

(01:20:42):
so many different things that the a the message is
wrong or it's not received. Yeah, And and I just
I'm a firm believer if he really, really, really desperately
wanted to play, he'd be playing. I firmly believe that
he's clearly good enough to play. That's not the issue.
I I don't buy this blackballing conversation. The people that said, God,
I am stunned that it's the Seahawks of all teams

(01:21:04):
who chose this route. No, well you're stunned because yeah,
they would be welcome to anything. Okay, so what is
the plan? Like, they just want to know what the
plan is. But now it's turned into this people that
are they're siding with Kaepernick and trying to claim it's all.
It's just it's a mess. Dez Bryant is no longer
a Dallas Cowboy. Did you hear about get out of town? Yeah?

(01:21:25):
Where's it going next? And John Ramos yes, rolling on
this Friday. I honestly did not know that the lyric
was won't stop to our legends until about eight months
of the Doug Show. Can you do what you just
did during the break? Well? Oh don't great to have

(01:21:49):
you with us on this Friday. I hope your weekend,
if it started, is off to a great start. That's
Briant's weekend, not so much. Released by the Cowboys today
said to make twelve and a half a million dollars.
Now he will be a free agent, and it's uh,
there's a lot to this. Des Brian has also taken
to Twitter, reaching out and uh tweeting, first of all,

(01:22:11):
let me start this way Dez Bryant told reporters, I
will see you twice next season. So as we kind
of touched on a little earlier, that would make things.
Maybe think that dees Brian is gonna stay within that
NFC East if he ends up playing again. And now
do you want to connect the dots on that, Dan,

(01:22:32):
I think you have a thing, you have a thought there. Now,
the best case scenario would be the New York Giants,
him and Odell Beckham in the same locker room. Can't
imagine that would be an issue, right, Yeah, that's exactly
what they need, somebody else there to take the football
away from Oh b J Philadelphia egos. That's exactly what
they need is another receiver to go along with their

(01:22:52):
eight running backs, five tight ends and and four letter
Sean Jeffrey recovering from surgery, not going to be ready
maybe for the out of the season. So you know,
you signed as Bryant to a big contract and cut
him after week three, that's always a possibility. So you
think that it is the Washington Redskins And that was
and when we had Bucky Brooks on earlier, he mentioned

(01:23:15):
that he had spoken to some uh within the media
circles reporting circles saying that an NFC East team is
a team that he could be looking towards going and
just by process of elimination, it would have to be Washington.
That would be fun, man, that would be a lot
of fun him going against Dallas. And first of all,
if you're Dallas, are you shaking in your boots at

(01:23:37):
the idea of Dez Brian anymore? I just don't buy it.
I just I just I'm not. I never he had
the good three year run uh as you point out
from and he scored a lot of touchdowns, But it's
so obvious to everybody at this point of his career
when his his move is I'm going to work with
somebody to really polish my route running. The fact that
that was the move this many years in is surprising.

(01:23:59):
I give Jerry Jones credit. At least he went and
met with him face to face and they determined that
that was the best course of action. I know Bucky Brooks,
who we had on earlier, was surprised that that they
waited this long if this was going to be the decision,
because it kind of put him in a bad spot
to where I have you cut somebody early. At least
they've got time to go around and get a job
somewhere else. I think it's interesting to see the tweets

(01:24:21):
that this Bryant is now sending out, one of which,
let's start the process. You sent another Cowboy Nation, I
need you to know this wasn't my decision. I will
always love you all forever, Dallas in my heart. Also
four hours ago, the love is real, thank you. Which
one of those three do you think got the most retweets?
By the way, let's let's start the process. Hashtag unbothered,

(01:24:43):
hashtag throw up the X. That's Brian also tweeted tweet
number two, Cowboy Nation, I need you to know this
wasn't my decision. I will always love you all forever,
Dallas in my heart. Or tweet three the love is real,
thank you. Which what do you think got the most retweets? Now?
Tweet three? Was that the first one he sent? It's
the last? Okay, okay, so the first the earliest one

(01:25:06):
that he did. I'm gonna say the second one because
he gave a shout out to Cowboy Nation and Cowboy
fans are just delusional, h fan boys. Also with someone
with your band history, knowing that when you shout the
city you're playing in, you know, goes over well. With
the oldest, oldest wrestling trick in the book. It's called
a cheap pop. If you go to some other arena

(01:25:27):
and they can't get the crowd on their sign, you
just go uh and I want to thank everybody here
and uh Sherman Oaks, California talking, She's talk at us.
It's called a cheapop. Is John you want to guess
which tweet was the second one? As you we're looking
at a des Bryant Sulat by the way winds So

(01:25:47):
he said, throw up the X and that one right.
Is anybody going to fill him in that the last
letter of his first name is a Z, not an X.
Anybody want to help him out with that? Or no,
you should do that would be good, Like I don't
know how you could do it with but up the
Z man gets flexible and figure it out. You both
work correct. Thirty six thousand retweets on the Cowboy Nation.

(01:26:07):
I need you to know this wasn't my decision. I
will always love you all forever, Dallas in my heart.
That is what thirty six thousand compared to eleven thousand,
and the other one got six thousands, so that's the
most popular. By the way, I was at a concert
once Back Street Boys two thousand in Madison, and I know,
like Madison isn't like a hugely popular city, but it's
you know, state capital, and uh, Backstreet Boys comes out

(01:26:31):
and the carter goes, what's up Wisconsin? You know, way
it's state right, state? You know, you know the city.
You know. Just as long as you get the state correct,
you're good. You know. By the way, you know, who
does throw up z s people to listen to my
overnight show? Uh so, de Brian, that's that's that's not true,

(01:26:51):
Jonah says, a great, great overnight show Pacific midnight, Pacific point.
Who cares to get the time correct right twelve am,
two three am Pacific time, three am to six am
Eastern time. Be there, b Square Man, the Dallas Cowboys
and a decision to make in the future, like many
teams do with the draft. Two weeks away, we started

(01:27:14):
to talk some draft with our good friend Bucky Brooks,
and but he had a lot to say, whether it
be about maybe the Cowboys looking at a wide receiver.
Now now that this Brian has gone. Considering the depth
that they have talked about, maybe who the Patriots would take.
He also said maybe look at Lamar Jackson to the
Saints as a possibility. He also Jonas touched on the
topic of where the Browns are at the top of

(01:27:36):
the draft at number one. I don't like it necessarily
Josh Allen as the number one quarterback in this draft,
a number one pick in this draft. But let's just
say we go and connect the boats. On John Dorsey's
draft history, He's a guy that typically opts for projection
and potential over production. You look at what he did
last year, taking Pat Mahomes over de Shaunt Watson. Pat
Mahomes was clearly a developmental guy, where DeShawn Watson appeared

(01:27:58):
to be a little more ready to go based on
what he accomplished in college. So that is another report
that has josh Allen going number one overall, which seemed
to gain a lot of esteem this week. Well, so
here are the people that have reported that Josh Allen
is gonna be the number one overall pick. It's uh,
wasn't it? Schefter Daniel Jeremiah. I believe Rappaport was one

(01:28:20):
of yeah, Mortenson was another one. You know, usually somebody's wrong,
but they're not all wrong, you know, So it seems
like Josh Allen is the guy. If you're just following trends.
You know, if if they were to come out and
two guys were saying Josh Allen and the others were
saying Sam Donald, that I would understand, okay that you
know this, this could go either way. But if that

(01:28:42):
many people are saying Josh Allen, now, they all can't
be that wrong. There's no way they're all that wrong.
With the first pick of the draft, and the second
pick is the New York Giants. We touched on this
a bit earlier. There's a report out that the Buffalo
Bills and Giants do have the framework of a deal
to get done if they wanted to wop two and twelve. However,

(01:29:02):
the report from Tony Pauline said that the Giants likely
are going to listen to more offers and then as
the draft would get closer, maybe then they would pull
the trigger on the draft. But it's interesting because, as
we have spoken, the Giants at number two seemed to
it's not a wild card, but that's the place that
teams are trying to get to But you also like

(01:29:22):
Denver as maybe being the squad that has the most
intrigue really in the top five, just because it seems
like they and I don't want to put words in
your mouth, and I'll let you speak, but maybe they
have the most to lose in the most to gain
right now with any of those teams speaking near the top. Well,
here's here's what I say, Denver. If you like, if
you're the Giants and you want to trade out of two,

(01:29:44):
do you really want to go all the way back
to twelve? And really, the only the closest team other
than Buffalo at twelve that you could see wanting to
take a quarterback this year would be the Dolphins at eleven.
Because mixed in there are the Raiders who have cart
Is who have Garoppolo, the Bears who have Trabiskie and
other teams who have already, and the Bucks who have

(01:30:05):
Jamis Winston, the Colts who have Andrew Luck. They've all
got quarterbacks. So if you're if you're the Giants, do
you want to drop all the way back in the
draft and take if you're clearly not going to take
a quarterback and pick up basically the scraps that all
those other teams who don't need quarterbacks are going to
take the best players that are there. So if I'm

(01:30:25):
the Giants, I'm seriously considering I'm not gonna get as
much in return. But I know that if I dropped
to five, I'm gonna be working with the team that
wants to take a quarterback, and I know that depending
on who's there, they're gonna be an instant upgrade. You
could get Quentin Nelson, You could probably get sa Kwan
Barkley if he's still there. There's a Bradley Chub may
still be there at that point. If you can land

(01:30:46):
one of those players, I think there's there's a market.
It's almost this draft feels like it's better to be
a team that doesn't need a quarterback in the top
ten than a team that does. And everyone's preaching about
how great this draft classes, But to you swing and
miss more on quarterbacks or more on other players around
the draft, like quarterbacks are always hit and miss of

(01:31:07):
these four guys, what are the odds at all? Four
great quarterbacks doesn't happen. So if you already have a
quarterback and you're picking the top ten, you're sitting back on. Damn,
we can end up with se Kwon Barkley sitting at nine.
S Kuon Barkley could end up with the Niners, Like,
are you kidding me? Like that's a that's a great
draft for the forty Niners based on them already addressed

(01:31:28):
in the quarterback position. And if you look at what
this Giants Bills report says, I think, if if I'm
reading between the lines, the Bills are willing to give
the Giants what they want for the number to pick.
The Giants just want to find out if they can
get the same exact thing, or even a better deal
from someone that is not ten spots down the draft.
And that's what they're gonna have to find out in

(01:31:50):
the next week and a half or so before the
draft takes place of now a week from Thursday. As
crazy as it sounds, that's so you kind of know, Okay,
we've gotten an offer of what we want to get
another team topic, and as long as you're picking sooner
than the Bills are, maybe it's a better option for us.
And I think that's what the Giants are going to
have to evaluate, you know, over these next like the
amount the amount that Jeez, that Buffalo would have to

(01:32:13):
trade to try and get to number two. I mean,
we'll we'll never know until the deal actually gets done,
if it does get done, but that's a significant amount.
But remember when the Rams did there did their swap
to move up to get Jared Goffe. I mean it
was from what fifteen wasn't at that at the time.
I mean, and then Tennessee ended up moving up. I
believe my memory serves me to get Jack Conklin and

(01:32:37):
that deal. But they moved and moved on fifteen spots,
and the precedence has already been sent. The price has
already been set because what did so the Jets gave away?
What three number Two's okay, three number two is to
move up three spots? The hell do you think ten
spots is gonna go for? Because I guarantee gentleman's telling him, hey,
you see what the price tag is for the spot
below us? I mean, come on, what do you expect

(01:32:58):

next No, we're gonna get inside information into one of
the I don't know if you want to call it surprising,
but the bigger moves made recently in the NFL offseason
that's coming up next year. On Fox Sports Radio on
this Friday, thet no Doug Today, I'm Dan Buyer. That's

(01:33:42):
Jonas Knocks. John Romo's here as well because we hit
the big news of the day, Dez Bryant released by
the Dallas Cowboys after eight seasons. To talk about Dez,
the Cowboys and the marriage that did the last eight
years and what could be ahead from the fourth Ward
Star Telegram, Clarence Hill Jr. Joins us now on Fox
Sports where, Hey, Clarence, thanks so much for taking the
time today. What's up, guys? Are you doing? We are

(01:34:04):
doing well? And how is dad doing. How did he
take the news today that he was being let go
by the Dallas Cowboys, You know, you let Das tell it.
And he's been over twitter. Oh, I wish he would
put his phone down. He he started tweeting last night
that he was unbothered, you know, and and and today

(01:34:25):
he started tweeting that, you know, he's gonna make the
Cowboys pay and and you know, he wants to go
to the MC's team, that he can see the Cowboys
twice and you know, and it's personal now and he
wants to be motivated. I mean, he's all over the
map and it maybe false bravado, you know, to a
certain thing because he's hurt. He didn't want to lead.
He identified with the cowboy, wanted to be a cowpool

(01:34:47):
for life. He also tweeted that this wasn't his choice,
you know, and this was not his choice. In fact,
this he was not even giving a choice to take
a pay cut. This was the say that Cowboys wanted
to move off from death. That had nothing to do
with money, was all about getting rid of the is
When did, uh, you start to notice that somebody who
was around the team all the time, When did you
start to notice the decline in his play. You know, um,

(01:35:11):
I guess this year, you know, because last year it
was in the years before it was blamed on injury
and it was you know, in the new quarterback. And
then this year you saw the route passes and you
saw the little bit of the separate and he was
never on the injury report, you know, you know, obviously
he had the it was neat to the matter like
everybody does. But there was not a major injury that

(01:35:33):
kept him out of a game or anything like that. Uh.
And what else was conclusion? Were there to draw? And
then I think that's what the Cowboys ultimately saw as well.
What was his relationship like with Dak Prescott. I had
a great relationship with Deac. I mean, you know, Dad
bought in the Deck from the beginning, you know, and
when they made the book from Tony. He was a
huge Tony guy. And he supported Deck and was down

(01:35:55):
with Deck from the beginning. And you know that was
a great leader. Uh as a rookie, and and and
and even last year they had a great initihip. He
never had a problem with what that was doing. He
didn't like the offense and and and he had a
problem with how Scott little Hand was using him. That's
what his reasons why his numbers were down. But Heat
and Deck were good and they have been good. Clarence

(01:36:15):
Chill Jr. Or the fourth Ward Star Telegram, joining us
here on Fox Sports Radio to talk about the Cowboys
and their release of Dez Bryan today. You mentioned that
relationship of those guys being good and how he was used,
But why was Dac so efficient with other receivers but
just not with Dez Well, I mean number one, Uh,
those the other receivers were wide open sometimes because of dead.

(01:36:37):
You know, when you got double team and inticially going
to dead, it does open things up in other areas.
But also uh, later in career every ball to day
because he was always covered, you know, certainly last year,
you know, the separation wasn't there. That's the one thing
that that that people were talking about his lack of separation.
You know, he's even talked about going to a route
running Google this off season to finally improve his route running.

(01:37:00):
You know, for much of his career he succeeded on
talent and raw ability, you know, and he ran a
few routes and he just was out absolutely everybody. Well,
as you get older and your skills decline, and you
athleticism declined, and you have injuries, you have to rely
on technique. And those were things that that have been
a problem. And you say, why was he more official

(01:37:21):
with those other guys because those other guys were open
You said that, Um, you were saying earlier sorready interrupt clanch,
you were saying earlier that does that this was more
they wanted to move on from Dez. And when you
say that was he was he an issue in the
locker room where their problems there? Did he not get
along with certain teammates? What was the relationship like with
Jason Garrett, Jerry Jones, etcetera. Well, I mean not thinking

(01:37:43):
you just look at the t leagues. I mean they
did not offer him a pay cut. You know everybody
talking too with the money thing. Well, if it was
the money, then you could have offered a pay cut.
Now only did they not offer him a pay cut? Um,
they're taking all the camp here this year. If it
was about getting chap releaved, they would have split his uh,
his relief in his in his cap head over two years.
They're taking all the cap it now, I mean, so

(01:38:05):
this was not about saving money, you know. And and
again they want in a situation where they needed the money,
designed anybody they could have carried his sorry as it is,
you know. So again it wasn't about the capit. It
was about getting rid of dez Bran and and I
think as he's gotten older, Uh, you put up with
certain things when you're the best receiving the league. And

(01:38:26):
the same thing with the t O factor back in
the day. You know, people put up with those issues
in the locker room because it was so dominant. Once
you're not a dominant and you're you're not a special player,
you're a good player, not a spector player, then you
don't tend to want to put up with certain things
and the distractions. And that's something that Stephen Jones started
talking about the distractions that he brought in the locker room,
on the field and on the sideline, which was not

(01:38:48):
good for him or not good for the team going forward.
So I think, uh, they felt he was a bad
influence on some of the other younger receivers, maybe some
of the younger players, and so those are reasons why
they wanted to move on. You know, this is a
new team is a young team. They have Dak Prescott
and a young quarterback. Wants some guys to be able
to grow with Dak Prescott. Uh. And that's the new

(01:39:09):
direction they want to go into. Yeah. And their wide
receivers right now are a huge If I could put
a question mark in a font Clarence right now, it
would be like seventy two fonts. That's how big of
a question mark I have with Dallas at the wide receiver.
By the way, Clarence Hill Jr. Or the fourt Worth
Star Telegram cover the Cowboys from more of the twenty
years joining us here on Fox Sports Radio to talk
about Dez Bryant's release. I just saw him to learn

(01:39:30):
on my phone pop up fourteen teams where Dez Bryant
can go? Where do you think des Bryant goes or
what type of what type of spot do you think
des Bryant lands in? Well, again, he's emotions are carrying
the day with him right now, and he wants to
go to the team where he can place the Cowboys
towards the year the NFC East. Uh. You know, obviously

(01:39:51):
Philly said I think the Giants will be set was
Washington is always a wild card. They don't really have
any uh known receivers. Um and Dances not have love
to get former cowboys. Uh, you know there's an option
there right now. At least cording reports out of Washington
are not interested in Dan's and Brian. But you know
that's that's right now. Uh. Baltimore is a team that

(01:40:13):
that that needs receivers. Uh, Tennessee needs receivers. Indiana the
coach need receivers. Arizona Cardinals they don't have anybody of
known ilk opposite Larry Gerald right now, but they could
use helping receivers. San Francisco could use help. But market
out there for I said, so there are spots. That's
not just a is that just gonna be two teams

(01:40:35):
that are looking at No. I think there's a market
out there for him. Again, you know, at this point
most of the people that have spent their money. You know,
if he would have rather been out there on the
market and Markston then right now. But but there is
a market for him and and and he will find
a home probably fairly quickly. Clarence, you're one of so
cowboy fans can be a little bit unreasonable just from

(01:40:56):
doing shows here nationally, they'll call in and if you
say if each if you say I mean the slightest
thing that could be perceived as a negative, they'll jump
all over you for. But the one thing I said
about Dak Prescott was if I if any other quarterback
around the league lost their best player, they may struggle
as well too. And when Ezekiel it was gone and
he was trying to figure it out and all of

(01:41:17):
a sudden he was he had to do more. You
saw him struggle and maybe fall back down to earth
a little bit. What's the difference. What's the confidence level
this offseason going into next year in Dak Prescott there
locally as opposed to last off season. Well, locally, it
depends on who you talked to, because the Cowboys fans
have have merge or kind of split into I'm sorry,

(01:41:40):
into a that camp and a desk camp, and they're
blaming deck Day's problems for de short companies and so
to speak. And and that is not Tony Rombo at
the end of his career. You know, he he's not
gonna be as good of a pastor's good of a
quarterback in Tony Romo was late in his career, but
act as a young quarterback's he just scorning his third year.

(01:42:02):
He's growing. The Cowboys organization love Dak Prescott. They love
his work ethics, they love what he represents, and they
believe he was their franchise quarterback on the future and
they are confident that he has a good going forward.
They're trying to build this office, uh, this team around
Dak Prescott, and they're building an offensive to do some
of the things that he does well. And one thing

(01:42:24):
that Stephen Jones talked about what he likes his receivers
running for rice, precise routes and being where they're supposed
to be. That wasn't a strong suitor. Davis Brian Clarence
Hill Jr. The fourth Worth Star Telegram joining us here
on the Doug Gottlip Show. He's Jonas Knocks. I'm Dan buyer.
Where does Dez rank now as you look all time Cowboys?
Because when we looked up at the stats of of

(01:42:47):
des Briant first in touchdowns I believe fifth and yards
third in receptions, And when you started to look Clarence
at the past catchers that were in Dallas, it was
surprising to me to see I s maybe some of
the names that I don't know. I thought there were
more prolific pass catchers in the Cowboys history. And then
I'm like, okay, wow, Well, if des is in top

(01:43:08):
three in every category, maybe maybe there's something wrong. But
where is Dez Bryant's place in Cowboys history going to be? Yeah? Yeah,
that's the funny par him, because I would have assumed
that Dad would have been finished second, if not first,
in some of those cats once he finished a career,
and I didn't know one saw the way he was playing,

(01:43:29):
the incoming so quickly, and the numbers he was piling up,
and certainly he is THEMB one overall and in touchdown,
but you would think he would have climbed up more
in catches and certainly more than yards. You know the
fact that he's behind Drew Pearson and Tony Hill and
yards UH says a lot. He would probably pass both
of those guys this year, but we had another year.
He's third and catches behind Jason Witten and Michael Irvin

(01:43:50):
and certainly the second UH. As far as the receivers
A concerned, he's has the second most catches behind Michael Irvin.
UM in terms of rank or there's Mike, there's Bob Pays.
I would say there's probably at this point Drew Pearson.
Then there's Briant. Interesting super Bowls. Yeah, yeah, you know

(01:44:11):
it's it's it's crazy to think. And he was not
in a passing error and that's why the numbers are down.
He got, you know, those seventy things not throw the
way they throw. Now. Yeah. The other surprising thing Clarence
before he let you go is that Terrell Owens. It's
like top ten in like two or three categories where
you don't you don't realize it. But then when you

That little gotl guitar knowledge. As we get everybody set
up for the Gorman's well, the only thing that we're
missing is Ryan Music and Steve Desister the press giving
us the latest of what is happening in the world
of sports. Hello, Steve, the photo in the mashup of

(01:57:27):
John Ramos is a little disconcerting. Is it my gene jacket? Steve? No,
that's at least you're got a guitar slinger. I could
see that, you know you banned on the something. Yeah,
I would actually dress like this. This is not that
far off, Not so much. We do have a college
football item today news from the n c double A
Playing Rules Oversight Panel. It is official an alteration to

(01:57:50):
college football's kickoff rule has been approved, so the return
team on a kickoff will now be allowed to fair
catch the kick anywhere inside the five and it will
count as a touchback. The ensuing drive will start at
the touchbacks during kickoffs, of course, caused fewer injuries. Man
game over, Man game over, and Ohio State tried to

(01:58:14):
corner and pouch it, so you catch it at the
two yard line. Now the end zone on kickoffs is
thirty five yards, essentially catching. So this is all just
one of these a we're gonna just make it seem
like we tried everything. Guess we just got to get
rid of it all together then, right, it's all about
the kids. Jonas, go play another sport, then go play soccer.

(01:58:36):
Storry to Masters Master's champ Patrick Reid says he doesn't
believe in one company sponsoring a golfer entirely, so his
decision to play with a mixed bag of clubs could
be costing him millions. He's not committed to one big
name brand even now after winning a few tour titles,
including the recent Masters, and he told CNBC or at

(01:58:59):
least the quote is, it's hard to believe there's one
company that makes fourteen perfect golf clubs. Well, you know,
we know Jonas is the golf guy here, yeah, yea, yeah,
Well here's and I've been saying this about things, but
Patrick Reid talks Sunday Night, right, Steve, we're trying to
we're trying to boost the podcast members. They'll listen to

(01:59:20):
it on the podcast. Okay, we don't need it, we
don't need a quicker show. Let me just tell you
this about golf clubs. All right, all right, if you
don't have a golf club, you're not hitting the ball.
That's a very good point. Patrick read also has a
very good point. It's the trade off. Do you think
you can win with your mixed bag of clubs or
do you just want to take the money guaranteed by
the club company that would pay you to use their clubs.

(01:59:45):
If you think you can make ten million dollars and
not get the and bypassed the couple of millions you
get from the clubs, maybe it's worth it. But that
is a risky proposition. The Golf Channel equipment expert estimates
more than ten mill if he actually commit, including all
the corporate appearances and everything, and the endorsement dollars if
he went. And he's in a unique situation. One of

have for the whole spring season of TV. You know,
a season going already. This is gonna start at the
end of the month, and it's gonna be only a
four week season and then they're done for the summer,
so they're gonna be eliminating people left and right here
Olympic figure skaters like Marie Nagas who Adam rip on

(02:00:52):
their snowboarder Jamie Anderson as well. Kareem Abdul Jabbar is
going to be in this four week edition. Oh he's
in the stilts. That yeah, I give this idea. Oh one, yes,
they hold up those stupid ping pong paddles. One weeks

(02:01:13):
too long is Dancing with the Stars on Fox? That
would be a no okay, yeah, that show sucks. And finally,
wonder how the figure skaters are gonna do against Kareem Yeah,
no kidding and see no contest. One of Tiger Wood's
backup putters has selled at a recent auction, sold for
