Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio and Johnny Ramos Boom Mandy.
All right, I'll tell you what college football fans you
may want to watch out, because Johnny Ramos is coming
for you. The the birthday Boy, a birthday weekend for
John Ramos. Ye never sounded so good. If since you're

(00:28):
twenty eight, what year were you born? N Hey, there
you go, good job Johnny Ramos. Wait wait, hold on, Okay, yeah,
the math doesn't add up, but when you're wearing big
baller brand shoes, it doesn't matter. Did you get the
did you get the Lonzos, John Ramos? Did you get

(00:49):
the Lamellos? Did you get the LaVar balls? Did you
get the Lucille balls? What kind of big baller brand
shoes did you get on this birthday weekend? I? And
was the LaVar ball? And these are the ones that
nobody wanted to get. Remember that that costs so much.
I said, I've got the money. I'm putting it down.

(01:11):
Those are mine. All right, Well you got that good thing.
You don't have that LaVar ball. Smile. Guy's got a
mouthful of taxi cabs. I've seen dice that look better.
I'll tell you what didn't look good yesterday. The Texas
and M Meggie's second half football team. That was a

(01:34):
tough one to watch if you're a Texas A and
M fan, But if you're a u c l A fan,
you were loving it because it was the Josh Rosen story.
But Jonas for as much as Josh Rosen was the
story yesterday and how he performed as opposed to say
the other top quarterbacks we think that are gonna be
taken in next year's draft and Josh Allen and Sam Donald.

(01:56):
I just think this is a Texas A and M story.
I know that, like the great comeback, but it's to me,
it's the real store. Does that? Ben Meller always say
the real stories in the losing locker room, And that's
where I think it falls with Texas A and M.
Because I have tried to figure out how in the
world it could have actually gotten any worse for Texas
A and M, and specifically Kevin Sumlin after blowing that

(02:18):
forty to ten lead and losing to U C l
A forty four. I can't come up with another way
that things could be any worse. This is a microcosm
of Kevin Sumlin, though Texas A and M. And I've
been saying this because I noticed a trend with Kevin Sumlin.
He always starts off the year and he wins these
big games to where Texas A and M will knock
off a team that they shouldn't beat, or they'll beat

(02:40):
a team that that is favorite against them, and then
and then everyone jumps for joint goes oh Man, Texas
A and M is back. I mean, a few years ago,
they beat South Carolina when South Carolina was the top
ten team. Was it was a Thursday night game, it
was the opener, it was the opener of the college
football season. South Carolina sucked that year. They were terrible,
So the idea that he got a ton of credit

(03:01):
for that. Later in the year you found out how
good South Carolina really was. So this is that game
last night was a microcosm of a Texas A and
M team that continuously under Kevin Sumlin starts strong and
then they start hitting the rough patch later on in
the season and you look and lo and behold, they
got four three or four losses, but they'll win. But

(03:21):
he wins these big time games. So Kevilyn, someone usually
wins his bowl game or he'll usually win the open
or when it's on national TV, so it makes you
think that he's really just a great college football coach.
The fact of the matter is, if not for Johnny Manziel,
Kevin Sumlin is not still the coach at Texas A
and M. Johnny Manzell got him paid, he made a

(03:42):
ton of people their money, and Kevin Sumlin is still
living off Johnny Manzel's high. It's amazing because Johnny Manzel,
as he said, allows Kevin Sumlin to keep his job.
Yet Jean Chiswick was out of a job just a
couple of years after Auburn fell on on tough times
after winning the national championship. So Kevin Sumone is actually
getting more of a run because of Johnny Manzel than
Jean Chiset got at Auburn because of a national championship.

(04:06):
If you may have missed last night because it's a
Labor Day weekend, maybe you had friends over doing weekend plans.
This is what the scene was at the Rose Bowl.
I just want to set this up. Texas A and
M rolling At this point, they are up thirty one
to ten on u C l A and Dave South
from Learfield makes it even better for the A and
M eggs because this was a this was a first

(04:28):
half Jonas that was one to three. Then it was
twenty four to three, thirty one to three. Sure, U
c l A scored another touchdown, but Texas A and
M just continued to roll and roll and roll on offense,
and it just kept rolling at the Rose Bowl trying
to turn the corner. We have Pine roping. I think
he's gonna get it. He's gonna go the distance, and

(04:50):
that is Trayvon will go sixty one yards? What is
he squeezing his nose when he makes the call? I
thought they were playing in a library, like you can
hardly hear. I know there were some eggy fans there
last night, but it's it's just there was this, there
was this, this, this silent buzz that was going on
that me and Itty to ten on Learfield Sports. So

(05:12):
you figured, hey, Twitter at halftime, it was all eggs
and it was Jim Mora being fired at U c
l A. And that's a big time playing by Texas
and Texas and big as A slaughtering. He's gone out
and Texas gonna go Yeah, you squeeze your nose you

(05:38):
sound exactly like that guy. Now there is a lesson
that you need to learn with Texas A and M.
You kind of just said it with with with Kevin
Sumlan setting it up that this was indicative of what
he had in the past. Holiday you have to curse.
I think I was I think I was clean there.
I think this is this was representative of of what
of what Texas A and M is head right, and

(06:00):
this is this is and uh and and here here's
the best place. So, so I want to go back
in time. All right, I want to take you back.
This is the history of Texas A and M. So
you remember after Johnny Manzel at his off field issues
or whatever, they suspend him for the first half of
the Rice game, all right, and then Texas A and
M figured something out that they can make a boatload
of money if they play ranked teams going into the season,

(06:23):
and and if they catch him hot and he's got
enough time to prepare, it's a good look for Texas
A and M. So South Carolina was ninth the year
they opened up the season against them. They blew him
out in South Carolina in Colombia, and so Kevin, someone
look and you look at that and you go, oh,
that was a top ten team. South Carolina stunk that year.
The next year was in Remember Arizona State was a

(06:45):
top fifteen team and Texas A and M win in
and battered Texas. Arizona State started off the season five
and oh, and everyone thought, Man, this Texas A and
M team. Sumone's back. Arizona State stunk that year. Last
year it was used l A, who was a top
twenty team going into that game against Texas A and
M again, and they won that game in overtime. So

(07:07):
this is a pattern for him. He always beat ranked teams.
He always won the opener, but it was later on
in the year that he fell apart. Last night was
basically his career. Texas D and M summed up in
a half. And we can sum it up with this
motto that you need to know when it comes to
Kevin someone some Lenz always wrong, some Lenz always wrong,

(07:32):
lens always wrong. Wow, that sums it up. And if
you don't believe me, this from the u c l
A Sports Network from i MG some thirty five points later,
Rosen just might do this that the tanny fakes a spike.

(07:54):
He now throws to the end zone, twisting catch sts loud.
Forty three seconds to go. You c l A has
tied it. They can take the lead with a J. J.
Bolton extra pointment some linzo always wrong, some linzo some

(08:16):
linzo wow, forty five to forty four. By the way,
the extra point was good. We didn't we just didn't
roll on it in the editing step. Yeah, in time
for Michaelingar was gonna yell at him. Um. By the way,

(08:36):
good to see Josh Lewin's getting work. I know, wou'd
say he's really bad battle that and he doesn't have
you know, like fifteen or sixteen broadcast. Jesus, He's like Seacrest,
the Mets, the Bruins. He was doing the Chargers, the
Texas Rangers. Well started off the season right with the
u c l A. That the comeback of Rosen has
so much talked about first pick overall, second pick. It

(08:58):
to me, it is all about someone when he's that back.
And think about this, Jones, you mentioned and went over
the early season success of Texas A and M. Yet
you had people wanting Kevin Sumlin out of a job
in Texas. Those were some eggie backers. So now you
have a prime time game that isn't opposite four other games,

(09:19):
it is opposite one of There were only two games yesterday,
West Virginia and Virginia Tech, and on Fox it was
U C l A A, Texas A and M. So
that was it. So they couldn't even have been overshadowed
somewhat like maybe a Baylor did by losing the Liberty
because nobody saw it. Everybody was watching yesterday's game on Fox,
a night game in prime time against a viable opponent

(09:41):
in a season that is maker break where you're bosses
are saying ten wins season or bust. I mean that
means that you've got to beat either Auburn, L s
U or Alabama one of those teams to even keep
your job. And now, not only do you lose the
first game of the season on the road against U
C l A, you blow a thirty four point lead.
I can't think of a worst scenario for Texas A

(10:03):
and M and Kevin someone because now you have to
go through the next twelve weeks with no real opportunity
to bounce back. Because this was such a punch to
the gut for the EG games, well, especially when you
factor in. I mean, he always took advantage of these
early starts because he would get momentum. He you know,
they would get to ball, the ball rolling, and by
the time he would be playing these ranked teams, they
would be a ranked team too, So he would pad
his record before he hit the really tough test in

(10:26):
the SEC West. But if you actually look at some
of these years that he's had, where he started off
the year five and oh, he finished off that season
eight and five, so he was three and five down
the stretch. But because he wins these primetime games, because
he wins these showcase games. The issue with Kevin Sumlin
now is he's lost two straight Bowl games after he

(10:49):
started out three and oh and bowls at Texas A
and M and and you lose a big game like
this on national TV, and it would be one thing
if it went down to the wire and it was
a back and forth battle and they on a on
a play like that, because if you just look at
the score, you would say, listen, it's at Pasadena, it's
a road game. You've got a potential number one picket
quarterback on the other side. That's a tough game all

(11:11):
the way around. So so we will give you the
benefit of the doubt in this regard. That was a
full blown gag job by Texas A and M and
someone's the guy it's gonna get the heat. And it
was enough for one Texas A and M region to
go on his Facebook page and say, I'm sure I
may be criticized for this post, but I honestly don't care.
Talking about how Kevin Sumlin was out coached last night,

(11:32):
which he says isn't new Tony buzzby. The regent says
he recruits well, but can't coach the big games or
close games, saying Texas A and M's players were better
last night and more talented, but the coaches were dominated
on national TV once again. And because he is a
board of regent when he says, when the time comes,
my vote will be that Kevin Sumlin needs to go.
There is no way this gets any better this season

(11:54):
for the Texas A and M A. And the best
part about this is people are going to rip this
guy and say, oh my god, how dare you got
a social media to call for somebody's job. You mean,
like a couple of years ago when Kevin Sumlin fired
his pool boy on Twitter like that. I mean remember
that story like like what a tool move by Kevin
Sumlon a couple of years ago. So I don't want
to hear any pity parties about Kevin Sumlin getting his

(12:17):
job called for he fired his pool boy on social
media and embarrassed him. The great thing about Tony Buzzby's
post about Kevin Sumlin was then he also went and
wish John Ramos a happy birthday. Wish happy birthday, and
so happy birthday. Comma John three exclamation dirty is always
a good year guy, John the Big three, oh and
the Big Baller brand shoes on Johnny Ramos his feats.

(12:40):
He is Dan Buyer. I'm Jonas Knox in for Doug Gottlieb.
Here Fox Sports Radio. You can always listen on the
I Heart Radio app. You can find this on Sirius
XM channel Lady three as well. If you'd like to
get Dan on Twitter and you have song parodies, If
you have song parodies for Dan Buyer, you can do
so at Dan Buyer on Fox Up. Next, though, we
are going to find out how one thing that happened

(13:01):
this weekend in the world of sports may have changed
an entire season. Find out what we mean next year
on FSR. But you've got BKR on this Labor Day.
He's Jonas Knox. That's John Ramos. I'm Dan Buyer. Interesting enough.
Why is this music so loud? Is it my headphones?
Is that I was actually bringing down the wrong pot? Okay,

(13:21):
so that's look about show this as difficult on Ramos
as possible, Johnny Ramos, Another year older, another year wiser.
After the birthday weekend, guys, thirty two is such a
great year. I'm ready to roll. Pete Futack covers college
football and he joins us here on Fox Sports Radio

(13:42):
as you can always get his stuff on Twitter at
Pete Fucheck and also at College Football News. And I
guess Pete, we're gonna start off with a little song
we'd like to play for you. Okay. We we just
came up with this at the start of the show.
I don't know if you've heard it before, but let
it roll, Johnny. Some lend's always wrong, someone's always wrong.

(14:06):
Nobody else out to sing with me. It's already old
because Pete peu Tech is a music snob. If you
haven't figured it out. Kevin Sumlin in Texas a and M.
Could things have gotten any worse for the Texas A
And I met coach after last night's collapse. Yeah, he
could listen to that song. I toldet no love. First

(14:29):
of all, of course, not uh and yeah it's uh.
Of course it's Vin. Here's the problem with the whole.
Kevin Sumlin's thing in the whole. Oh, he's not a
hot sea though. There there's a First of all, he's
gonna get paid a lot of money if he leaves. J. J.
Watt just raised what fifteen million dollars or so to
help hurricane relief funds. It'll cost twelve million to get

(14:51):
rid of Kevin Sumlin. To put this all into weird perspective,
it's expensive to get rid of Kevin Sumlin. The second
part about this is they needed about nineteen different weird
things to happen for them to lose that game. And
you know there's a couple of misinterceptions, a couple of mistackles,
and the way they played for about forty five minutes.

(15:14):
That's the Texas A and M that I think if
you're if you're trying to look at the positives here,
that's the team that this could be. It's a physical team.
It's fast. They got a freshman in Kelen Lawn who's
a potential star. You couldn't complete a pass, but you
could see the arm strength. The talent is there to
potentially be good. But that's always been sort of the
way with Texas A and M. And then you have

(15:38):
the defeat of all defeats. It's just it's painful. It stinks,
but you're right if it's not a good day for
Kevin someone all the way around. Uh. Pete few Tech
with College Football News dot Com joining us here on
Fox Sports Radio. Pete, what did last night mean? UM?
Overall for the career of Josh Rosen at U c
l A. It doesn't hurt. I mean, it's amazing how

(15:59):
one come back like that. Uh, can all of a
sudden change everything. I mean, you looked at that first
three quarters and it's like, oh, here comes the storylines.
You know, he spent the offseason talking and near the
controversy there, which I'm pent in agreement with him on
all that, by the way, but uh, and then if
you don't come out and kind of back it all
up with a big performance, then it's easy for everyone

(16:20):
to take shots at you. The NFL scouts start to
look at you a little differently. But if you become
that guy who's got the ability to come up with
a comeback like that, you know, pro scouts aren't robots.
I mean they fall for this kind of stuff too,
and they'll see them like, yeah, that's a guy we
can use. But what it showed last night also is
these games are really really long. So it's almost like

(16:44):
Texas and m punched itself out. They were getting to
Rosen in the first three quarters. That pass rush was
great and nothing was really working. And then you know,
outside of a couple of magical miracle plays here and there,
he got a ton of time to work because that
d was just gassed. So, whether it's Tom Brady and
the Super Bowl or John Cash Rosen last night, if
you give a good, accurate, smart quarterback time to throw,

(17:07):
he will always pick you apart. How concerned are you though,
with his for his health behind that offensive line at
U c l A. He's insane to keep playing. You know,
if you I'm a college football he I don't know why.
If you're he just proved he's a top five overall talent.
There's no change. He's never gonna be better than he

(17:29):
is right now. If you're a pro scout and you
don't have all the information of what you need to
see on Josh Rosen, you're a bad NFL scout, bad
NFL general manager. And we talked all the time, whether
it was Myles Garrett last year, Geneven Clowney a few
years ago, or you know the whole Leonard four Net,
Christie McCaffrey sitting out Bowl games thing. You know, what

(17:49):
are you doing risking your you know, multimillions of dollars
by playing more college football if you have to. If
you're that guy and you're Josh Rosen and you're the
one who can see the system than anybody else, I
know he would. I don't know why you you wouldn't
leave right now and risk, you know, not getting injured anymore.
Pete fu Tech at College Football News dot com and

(18:10):
apparently of Billboard and Spin magazine because he doesn't like
all the brocket. I don't know what Pete's problem is,
But is there gonna be a problem this year with
us over analyzing Sam Donald and Josh Allen? Uh to
go along with Josh Rosen, I guess because that was
one of my takeaways from this weekend Pete was we're
just watching what Donald does, maybe not even what USC does,
even though they were in a dog fight with Western

(18:31):
Michigan for a while. We're looking at Josh Allen at
Wyoming i just for the first time. I keep on thinking,
we're just looking ahead to the spring of Is this
going to be a constant with these guys this year
in college football? Yeah, it's a bad guy who not
only is dogging your toward the Woods rocket, but also
the problem with the Jake Olsen thing. I'm a bad
human being all the way around. But yes, the the

(18:51):
Sam Donald game, he just didn't look all that great.
He was kind of pressing a little bit. He was
struggling here and there. You know, Josh Allen, he didn't
get hell. He had a ton of dropped passes, and
his talent around him isn't an isn't all that great
when compared to the IOWA defense. And you're right, we're
gonna be like fine toothing these guys because you've got
Josh Rosen, You've got Josh Allen, You've got Sam Donald,

(19:13):
you've got Mason Rudolph, you've got Lamar Jackson, you've got
other guys who I think are gonna kind of rise
up in this, like northwesterns Clayton Thorsen, and a whole
slew of other quarterbacks out there who are starting to
look the part of NFL franchise quarterbacks. And next year
you've got these big guns up top who are going
to be right there in the mix of the top
ten overall picks. So if you're you know, the Jets

(19:36):
or whoever it's gonna be with that number one pick, yeah,
you've got to make sure that you're making the right
call that it is going to be Donald and not
Rosen and not Rudolph and not Alan. So it's it's
we're gonna be analyzing every single aspect of this because
you know, for those who aren't die hard college football fans,
that's really what this season is about, is you've got
a whole slew of next wave franchise quarterbacks on their way. Pete,

(19:58):
as we wrap up the bepening weekend, I mean, other
than the soft opening which was garbage last weekend, but
the real opening weekend in college football, which way week
one was garbage too. That Saturday was awful. Oh yeah,
it wasn't very good, you know, but it was better
than Portland's state. But I mean, you know, you gotta
give it that at least. Um, well, why you masses
are right? But yeah, okay, yes, I'm with you. So

(20:19):
that's what I'm wondering. Because the preseason rankings come out
after the first weekend. Everybody's already played after one game.
Give me a team or two in the top ten
or fifteen that is least deserving now that you've seen
him play of that top ranking. I'm not wavering USC.
I have said from the start that the Trojans are
not one of the five best teams in the country.

(20:41):
It's good, Uh that was no fluke. That team is
going to struggle a little bit. I am really interested
in seeing what they do against Stanford because Western Michigan
is good. This is still a solid team. They have
a lot of pieces in place from the team that
wins thirteen and o before losing in the Cotton Bowl
to Wisconsin last year. But it's still a MAC team.
It's still Western Michigan and they were able to get

(21:03):
physical on USC. Now you've got rested Stanford coming in.
This is the as physical a team as it gets.
I want to see if USC can stand up and
stand up to the bully. And that's what Stanford plays
like right now. If they can look impressive against the Cardinal,
I will start to kind of, you know, get off this.
You know, USC is overrated bandwagon thing. I just don't

(21:23):
quite believe in them, like everyone else seems to like him.
Ftack joining us here on the Doug Gottlib Show. He's
Jonah Stocks'm Dan Buyer. Johnny Ramos here on a b
KR edition, Where does Florida State go now without DeAndre
Francois After he was yeah, they're in trouble. I mean
that was That's the kind of demoralizing loss and the
loss of Francois that you know, can crush a season.

(21:44):
I mean, the talent overall is still there. I mean,
the the defense was great against Alabama. They did the job,
you know, just a couple of special teams meltdowns and
nothing happening offensively against that Alabama D. But that was
a close game for being seven final The athletes are there,
the skills there, but if you don't have that quarterback,
get ready for what Miami is gonna bring in a

(22:05):
couple of weeks, because that team has got a pass
rush and they're gonna get in the backfield all day
along that run defense is gonna be nasty. But now
you look at that in the A C C. If
you're Clemson, that's the big winner this weekend because Clemson
obviously was Kent State and they're awful college football. But
Clemson looked great. Florida State lost its quarterback, Louisville looked

(22:26):
awful outside of Lamar Jackson saving the day. N See
State lost, you know, North Carolina lost, Virginia Tech looked beatable.
So all of a sudden, this you know, best conference
in the country thing for the SEC doesn't quite look
like it right now. And again, let's see what Clemson
does against Auburn this week. But this team might have
just reloaded in a hurry. Recapping the first full weekend

(22:48):
of college football on There's Labor Day. Pete Futech get
him on Twitter at Pete Futech and rita stuff at
college Football News dot com. Thanks Pete any time, guys. Yeah,
he's in music. No, Dan, that was a that was tough.
What was surprising, it's not that people like or dislike
told the Wetsprocket, where I like their hits. John Ramos
didn't even know that song. Do you know Something's always Yeah?

(23:11):
I just didn't know who's saying because I confused Toe
the Wet Sprocket with like better than ezra Um, Well,
what's what's what's another one? Jesus Jones maybe in that
sort of um what gosh? I can't think of him.
I don't, I got I gotta there's a couple of
other bands and I just kind of jumble in together
with Toe the Wet sprot Jin Blossoms kind of that. Well,

(23:32):
let's be honest, you and John are in your thirties
and I turned forty this year, so it's maybe just
a different era with how we listen to music. That
could be that could be the kid. But again, I
I don't think though that that while you're breaking this
down and you're getting involved with all this stuff, I
don't think that John, you know, making racial comments to
you during the idea was really appropriate. That's the one
thing that bothered me. Hey, it wouldn't be John Ramos.

(23:55):
What about Semi Sonic Closing Time? Another song, Zing Time?
Kevin Someone's gonna ge alright, he's Dan Buyer. I am
Jonas Knox in for Doug gottlie Beer Fox Sports Radio.
You can always listen on the I Heart Radio app
and on Sirius XM channel eighty three. You can get

(24:17):
me on Twitter at the Jonas Knox Up next, though,
there was a major story that took place in the NFL. Alright,
a major story took place in the NFL earlier that
could spell doom for one franchise. Find out what that
is coming up next. But for all the latest from
around the world of sports, we turn it over to
our commander Dave mc gascon with the late friend David

(24:40):
Gascon from the Angeles. Lots of news going on right
now in the NFL. Gentleman in Inannapolis, Colts gonna be
without Andrew Luck in Week one. Big swing on the
points spread as well, full seven points went to the
l A Rams. The team announced it today. Scott told
Zeen we'll start at quarterback Week one this weekend in
Chicago the Bears. They have been now that Mike Glennon

(25:00):
is the starting quarterback for a week one. Leavy On
Bell good news for the Steelers. He comes back. He
signs his franchise tender, getting paid just over twelve million
dollars this year, not eight teen that he was looking for.
Tyrod Taylor, not out of concussion protocol. But he was
back at practice today for the Bills. He is going
through individual workouts. College football scene, Georgia quarterback Jacob Eeson

(25:24):
won't play this weekend against Notre Dame because of a
knee injury he sustained against app State. Florida State gonna
go with the true freshman quarterback James Blackman as your
starter for the rest of the way. In Major League Baseball,
a couple of games of note. Indians of one eleven straight.
They're looking for twelve in a row. They're in chicagol
lead the White Sox, three zip. Yankees have caught the
Orioles and they're tied at three apiece. Brewers Baseball, by

(25:51):
the way, got Rockies. By the way, it's a real
wild Guardliana. Wait. Wait, by the way, if you guys
want to see an empty stadium, let's turn on the
Brewers read game lab. I called Andy Ferman. So Andy Ferman,
Fox sports radio hosts, lives near Cincinnati, and I called
him literally during the break, and I said, Andy, I
mean not with the cleanest language, but I said, why

(26:13):
are there? Why is there nobody at this game? And
Andy said to me, he's a nobody's been showing up
to Red's games since the middle of August, and he's
on and by August, I mean August of nine six.
It's actually there's a good reason, uh Dr Johnny Fever
is having a remote broadcast on this Labor Day and
so everybody is at that as w k RP is
broadcasting live just across the street. Cincinnati a place where

(26:37):
you should go and maybe not go again. Got that
team stinks and by the way, you know how bad
the Bengals are going to be, you don't take the
year off as a sports fan of Cincinnati. Just take
the year off. Yeah, I am not a not a
fan of the Bengals hopes in and I'm starting to
wonder on the hopes of the Indianapolis Colts because now
with Andrew Luck, not only is he not playing general nature,

(27:00):
Chris Ballard said, there's no timetable and there's no word
when Luck will be able to practice as he returns
from his shoulder injury. So there's no there's no timetable
for getting Andrew Luck back. And I know that the
Colts may not be in the top echelon in the
a f C, but with Andrew Luck, I think there
are eight and eight, nine and seven sort of team that,
depending on how Chips fall, could be in the playoff race. Jonas,

(27:24):
Now you look at it. With Andrew Luck missing week
one this Sunday in Los Angeles against the Rams, They've
got a game against the Cardinals, a game against the
Browns in the week three, the Seahawks after that, and
then the forty nine is the first five games of
the year with Andrew Luck. Look, hey, if we go
three and two, fine, maybe four and one, we we
beat Arizona or we top Seattle. There's a legitimate question

(27:45):
this team could be one in four or oh and
five against two of the worst teams in the National
Football League if they don't have Andrew Luck back. Can
you just imagine the guy having to put together the
promotional package for this game? Now? Can I get NFL
and Fox Music? Just real quick? NFL and fine? I
hate this all right? The only for a second when
said for a second NFL on Fox Music, tell me

(28:06):
if you tell me if this what's your whistle as
a sports fan? Alright? Tell me if This gets ReBs
your engine and gets you going. Now that you find
out that Andrew Luck is going to be out for
the first game of the season against the l A Rams,
You're you're excited, You're thinking about football, you're setting fantasy lineups,
you go and you grab coffee. I mean, everything is

(28:26):
set up for you to get really really jacked up
about the NFL season. And as they're putting together all
sorts of promotional packages and they're trying to hype it
all up, and they're getting the NFL on Fox Music ready,
and they're trying to trying to tease you and let
you know what's really coming up. And as I continue
to try and vample, we find the NFL on Fox Music,
and there it is tools and golf football is better

(28:55):
what Easter Tive or what Pacific? But who cares? You
won't watch it anyway, Scott told Jared Coff choke it
out at a toilet in southern California? Is that the
Fox game? By the way, it's a game. I think
it's a It should be a CBS under the old
rules because the a f C team is on the road,

(29:17):
So I think that is a CBS. Good, good, have
have our left every CBS to sen and golf. You
gotta be kidding me. I like how the NFL is
going in Week one first to ten points wins with
colds and rams there. They may be there for six hours,
but that's what we could get realistically when you sit back,

(29:41):
if any of the other let's just say twenty teams
in the NFL will take out the Colts, Browns and Niners,
if in the first five games you were facing those teams,
wouldn't you be like, alright, worst case in there, two
and three. If you had the Colts on the schedule
three and two, worst case scenario like this, the schedule

(30:02):
to start out for Indianapolis couldn't have been easier. And
now there's not even a guarantee that they leave with
one wind during that stroke. Well, at some point, when
do they start having the conversation because it's crazy and
this is all due to poor management. You you had
a GM and Ryan Griggson there who literally whipped on
an entire draft. You know, like if you if you

(30:24):
have a draft, usually one of those guys will hit.
He whipped on an entire draft. So what they've done
with Andrew Luck is they've surrounded him with a garbage
offensive line almost every single year he's had issues with
with that running back. They traded a first round pick
for Trent Richardson, who was last seen filming a threesome

(30:46):
with a couple of women. That's not a joke, by
the way. And so if you're Indianapolis and you're Andrew Luck,
it's crazy to think that he was going to be
projected as the next franchise quarterback. And because of the
injuries and what he's del with since being in Indianapolis,
he's looking more and more like David Carr, a guy
who is so banged up early in his career that

(31:07):
you don't know whether or not he's going to reach
his potential. Even at times that they would draft a lineman,
it wouldn't fit what the coachs were trying to do.
There was an enormous disconnect between the front office and
the head coach. And that's what actually makes last season
so weird, even though this injury dates back to two
years ago. With Andrew Luck was that Ryan Grigson could

(31:29):
point to guys and say, we brought in this, and
we brought in that, But it didn't seem to fit
with Chuck Begano and Pet Hamilton's and when Hamilton's was
there and their coaching staff at what they tried to do,
So there was an enormous disconnect. Now you're gonna try
to straighten things out with Chris Ballard in there and
you don't have your star quarterback for the first game
of the season. You have no idea what he's not
even gonna play, but gonna be able to practice. Yeah,

(31:50):
tough times in India. And I'll bet if you were
to pull Colts fans aside, it's just in an honest moment,
all right, And this is gonna be tough for them
because they want to really support their team. You pull
Colts fans aside, or you pull Jim Ursay aside. In
an honest moment, they would tell you that probably the
biggest mistake that they've made is not keeping Bruce arians
as head coach. But they were put in a bad

(32:10):
spot because Chuck Bagano. And he's a great guy. We
remember Chuck Bagano came by when we were at Radio
Radio Road at the Super Bowl a couple of years ago.
He's such a good guy. But the report that Andrew
Luck had with Bruce Arians and Bruce Arians ability to
develop quarterbacks really really was effective and since then, and
it's not all on Chuck Pagano, but they haven't had

(32:31):
a whole lot there. And I wonder at some point
if you even risk bringing Andrew Luck back at all,
Like do you even risk bringing him back at all?
Because I think what's gonna end up happening after the season,
And you and I have talked about this as well too,
is I think Chuck Bagano has done. This is his
final year in Indianapolis. I think he's gonna get fired,
and I think Jim rcay is going to empty the

(32:52):
vault to try and bring Jim Harbaugh back to coach
his former quarterback, Jim Harbaugh of former Indianapolis Cold. I
think he's in the ring of honor. If I'm a
Colts fan, I'm looking at this season and going We're screwed.
We're screwed. We did a fantasy perspective yesterday, um on
Fox Sports Sunday, me and Mike Carmen, and we're going down.
There were times when you're like, Okay, I could draft
three Colts wide receivers of Cats, Yeah, Dante Moncrief and

(33:15):
now You're like, Okay, t Y Hilton Moncreef's banged ub.
Jack Doyle could be an option. I don't know if
I want to touch Frank Gore because you never know
on when the wheels are gonna fall off for him.
There's just there's not a lot of options and not
a lot of offense in Indianapolis and Vante Davis their
star corner on defense. Banged U. I'm not gonna play
against the Rams. They are hurting in Indianapolis. He is
Dan Buyer. I'm Jonas Knox in for Doug Gottlieb here

(33:36):
Fox Sports Radio. You can always listen to the show
in the I Heart Radio app. You can find us
on Sirius XM channel eighty three, and you can get
Dan on Twitter at Dan Buyer on Fox. Up next though,
we're going to tell you about the chances of something
major happening in the world of sports this upcoming week.
That's next year on FSR. This is the Doug Gottlieb

(33:57):
Show on Fox Sports Radio. I know who I want
to take me home. It's not a Johnny Ramos on
a birthday weekend though. That is Jonas Knocks. I'm Dan Buyer,
a b KR edition. How many shows do you think
end their show with this song? By the way, if
you are a show anywhere in the country and you
close out your your daily show with this song, you're

(34:18):
a You're a degenerate loser. You are a loser. This
is series finale, where where the shop? The donut Shop
closes after eight years on CBS. Guys, I just want
to say one thing before we end this show. Me today,
We've got to close today's show with closing time. Let's
do it. I wonder, I wonder if they're gonna be

(34:40):
on the John Ramo Show, Yes, which comes up on
this Labor Day edition. You don't know how I know
they won't be on the Gen Ramo Show because you
got to have at least two songs people know, and
they've got one they can play. It was what are
the chances that Semi Sonic could be on the John
Ramo Show? Uh? Fat? Hey? What are the chances this game?

(35:05):
This is game time side on the Doug Gottlieb Show,
David Gascar, I think we know our game are gonna
play today? Are the chances gentlemen will start things off first?
In the National Football League Colts they continue to make
changes all around the roster. They grabbed Matt Jones over

(35:27):
the weekend, activated Andrew Luck from the pup list, and
they traded for quarterback Jacobe Brissette. But today the team
announced that Scott Tolzene will be their starter Week one
against the l A. Rams. So, gentlemen, what are the
chances that Colts do play Jacobe Brissette in a Week one?
Big fat, zero zero percent, zero per cent. There is

(35:48):
no way, Jacoby said, we'll see any action, not just
because he's joined the team right off the bat. It's
also for the fact of there's no way these teams
are gonna be scoring a lot of points, so it
won't get out of hand to allow him to get
any snaps. I think it's I think that Jacoby Percette
could see the field in Week one, but then again

(36:08):
he could not. That's a good point. That's a good point.
It's a pretty good preseason for a few rookie quarterbacks.
And then included Mitchell Trabinsky. He completed sixty percent of
his passes, four yards, three t d s, no picks,
and a QBR of one oh six point two. Today,
John Fox announced Mike glenn Is the team starter for

(36:29):
a week one, but he did not say if Trabinsky
or Mark Sanchez is the number two gentlemen. Were the
chances we see Trabinsky prior to their week nine by
week the chances of that nine point nine per cent.
I think that they are gonna move on for the
Mike Glennon era pretty early in Chicago and don't expect
a lot of wins. I think that maybe better. They're

(36:51):
not gonna be Jets forty niners. Brown's bad. I think
they'll be better than that. But I do think at
some point you got to realize if it was this close,
let's take a look at the young guy NT nine
per cent, they're going to have one of the better
defenses in the league. They've they've they've developed that with
Vic Fangio the defensive coordinator. Because of that, because they
run the ball well, they're gonna stay close in games.
So Glennan is definitely going to get his his fair

(37:13):
share of snaps there and he's gonna be given every
opportunity to hold onto that job. But as far as
weather Mitchell Trabinsky gets in before their bye week, I'm
gonna put it at fifty. There's A. There's a chance
there is a chance he won't get in, But then again,
there's also a chance he won't. Speaking of ninety nine
point nine percent, what are the chances Hawaii covers this

(37:35):
week at U c l A twenty two and a
half point underdogs the public right now, Olliver U c
at majority on the Bruins. I'm going with the publicent
that U c l A is able to cover. So
I guess it would be one percent that Hawaii would
be able to cover. So one percent that Hawaii would
be able to cover because of the public feels U

(37:57):
c l A is, I'm gonna say one percent on
those Rainbow Warriors. Well, listen, my Hawaii, my beloved Hawaii
Rainbow Warriors. They they have started out the season hot
with huge wins over tough teams like U MASS and
Western Carolina. They did not cover the spread last week.
They actually missed it by a half point. So if

(38:17):
you heard a single gun shot and a thud of
a body hitting the ground, that was the guy who
bet on Hawaii to cover and lost his ass Week
one in college football. So because of that, Hawaii going
into U c l A. Dan, I think there's a
fifty percent chance, a fifty percent chance. I think Hawaii
could cover the spread, but they could also not cover

(38:39):
the spread. That's a good point. Clever clever In the NBA.
According to Cleveland dot com, the Cows are already taking
calls on their pick that is owned right now from
the Brooklyn Nets. Now it's a top five pick. Depending
on where Brooklyn season goes. As the owner of the
number one pick, it could be a top priority for
the Cleveland Cavaliers to shop that pick, or of course

(38:59):
trade it and select somebody else in two thousand and eighteen.
So with all that being said, gentlemen, what are the
chances the Calves trade Brooklyn's pick or keep it? Big
fed zero percent? They are going to wait, do you
ask me both? Or what are the chances that they
keep it or trade it? Now? I'm confused. I think
it's got to be what are the chances they keep it?
What are the chances they keep it? I'm gonna say

(39:19):
one hundred percent that they keep it. Here's the deal.
What was so great about the Celtics deal was that
they got a player right now to allow Lebron to
be happy and try to go for a title season.
But then you also have this future pick that maybe
you could build around, and that could be the centerpiece
of the Cavaliers once Lebron leaves next season. So one

(39:40):
percent chance they keep it, zero percent chance they trade it.
You gotta look at the timeline. The season is coming
up here within the next month and a half or so,
and so because of that, I don't think there's enough
time for them to wheel and deal and get something
in return, because teams will think that they're in a
rush to try and trade to pick. But I do
consider the trade deadline as an option for the Cleveland

(40:02):
Cavaliers to move Brooklyn's number one pick to try and
bring back a star, to try and chase one more
title with Lebron. So, if you're asking me, what are
the chances they keep the pick, we think I think
it's a they could trade it, but they could also
not trade it. What about them trading the pick? What
are the chances of them trading the pick? Let's see

(40:24):
if it's that they keep it, Yeah, but I think
there is gonna be heavy interest. So Dan, I think
it's um, alright, the pick. This is game time on
The Godly Show. Seriously, can we just have one stupid
month without an NBA story. Please go on boom the

(40:47):
fund getting it through the final day of summer it is.
I will say this this summer for some reason, guys,
it's going on much longer than any other previous summers.
I don't know if it flew by from your Jonas,
but this was a long one like this. I remember
Jordan's speed winning at Royal Birkdale seems like four months ago,

(41:09):
and it was really just a little over a month
and a half ago. This has gone on. I am
actually ready for fall, really ready for football and the
start of the NFL season this week. Yeah. I mean
that's you know, like this summer just kinda you know,
it's not around long enough to really, you know, kind
of get in on the job. Just kind of think
it went on a little too long. John, How was
your summer? Was it it was a little too long

(41:31):
or I think this summer was. I don't know if
you guys have talked about this yet. It's been a
little too long. It has been, it has been. It's
just been. It seems like it's been a long time.
Ready for fall. I think a lot of people are
as well. Schools getting back in session for most most kids,
I would say across the country, like after Labor Day,
the elementary schools, junior highs, middle schools, high schools, all

(41:52):
back to school. College a little different depending on you
know your system that you're in, but the fact of
the matter is falls here in college football is here
and for some goals, that's a good thing after the
first weekend, for other schools not so much. I thought
Jonas after before Kevin Sumone in Texas sant and blew
the leads a U c l A. I felt that
the teams that were grabbing the biggest headlines for the

(42:14):
wrong way. On Saturday, we're Texas and Florida State, and
just because Florida State losing DeAndre Francois was was the
issue that I saw for them. When you're trying to
stay step back and take a look at the entire weekend,
losing your star quarterback, there is not much you can
do to rebound from that. Yeah, that was a bad game.
It was sloppy. They you know, the special team's turnovers

(42:38):
and Alabama just dominated them physically, which you expected. I
know a lot of people were looking at that. When
it came to God, why would Alabama be a touchdown favorite. Listen,
Vegas doesn't miss much all right, in case you haven't
figured it out, Vegas doesn't miss these lines that much.
So I think Alabama was always the better football team.
But I still looked at that game and said, even
if Florida State loses, and you and I talked about

(42:59):
it on Friday, that eating regardless of who loses, whatever
the outcome is, both teams are still set up to
where they can still meet in the college football playoffs.
They still had enough talent to do so. Now that
conversation changes because of the injury a quarterback for Florida State,
and now you wonder how the Seminars are going to
be able to keep up, And in this day and
age of college football, there's a lot a lot of

(43:21):
ripple effects to that. But first to deal with the Seminars.
We spoke with Pete Feutech of College Football News and
how the Seminars are gonna go on without de Andre
Francois for the rest of the season. They're in trouble.
I mean that was that's the kind of demoralizing loss
and the loss of Francois that you know, can crush
a season. I mean, the talent overall is still there.

(43:41):
I mean, the the defense was great against Alabama. They
did the job, you know, just a couple of special
teams meltdowns and nothing happening offensively against that Alabama D.
But that was a close game for being seven final
The athletes are there, the skills there, But if you
don't have that quarterback, get ready for what Miami is
gonna bring in a couple week. This is going to

(44:01):
be a bigger issue for I believe Clemson, Louisville and
if Miami would somehow getting the picture. But Jonas, when
you're looking at a a bigger picture of the college
football playoff, the a c C now has lost one
of their legitimate shots at getting into the college football playoff.
And we know what the Power of five. There are
five Power or five conferences for four spots. Now, without

(44:23):
Florida State maybe being a great contender, that may not
bode well for Clemson and Louisville to have a tough conference.
There's so many ripple effects that I see because of
this injury that could have an effect on college from
being one of them. I'm curious to see how far
they fall that. That's why I want to see the
initial polls because one of the things about these early
season polls, we all we all look at it and
we go, got it kind of doesn't make sense only

(44:44):
because we don't know how good these teams are going
to be. And we see it happen all the time
that a team that was ranked in the top twenty
five you find out after the fact, well, you know,
they weren't really all that good anyways. You know they'll
fall outside the top twenty five whatever because their preseason rankings.
You have no data ex at for recruiting and what
you think you know about a current roster before you
go into the season. But but what ends up happening

(45:07):
is when you're a team that's ranked this high, you
do get a headstart on everybody else. So you have
to fall really, really far in order for you to
be outside the top four outside you know, a big
bowl game looking in, it's the teams at the bottom
of the top twenty five or the teams just outside
the top twenty five that really gets screwed because no

(45:27):
matter what they do, it's never ever going to be
good enough. Western Michigan last year they were undefeated going
into the Bowl game, it's never gonna be good enough.
So I wonder how much the the voters are going
to knock Florida State for this game based on they
lost their quarterback. Even though I think they got outplayed,
they were Alabama was clearly the better team. How far

(45:49):
did they drop them? Because if they still float around
the top twelve, top thirteen, they're still within distance to
be able to make that up later in the season
and still make a run at the final four. It's
it's not gonna matter to the committee. They that doesn't matter.
They don't care what the AP ranking say, But it
is the optics of us when you're looking at how
many ranked teams did you beat? When you beat them,
how did you beat them? I think that the media

(46:11):
members will drop Florida State significantly just because of the injury.
I think it gives them the opportunity to if they
were to to keep Florida State up there. Sure, maybe
another week if Florida State had had a down week
in the next week or two, where they could drop them.
But I think a lot of the voters are saying, wow,
we saw what happened as you try to replace Dalvin
Cook and nothing against what Florida State is trying to

(46:34):
to ease in cam Akers who got snaps against Alabama.
The fact is, now you've got a second string quarterback
and you were in a ten seven game at halftime
against Alabama and then outmatched in the second half. I
just don't think that you can keep Florida State in
that top ten. I think you're gonna see the seminars
around fifteen sixteen when these polls come out tomorrow after

(46:55):
the week is complete. I just do you think voters
use injury as a reason to dock teams more? And
what I mean by that is you saw this a
little bit in the end I think last season in
the end of and the m v P race in
the NFL, when Derek Carr got injured the second to
last game of the regular season, I think they use
that as an excuse to eliminate him and make it

(47:16):
easier to vote. Do you think that voters look at
because if Derek Carr would have just sat out the
final game, it's a difference of a quarter and an injury,
So so the idea that he was just completely eliminated
from the m v PEAK discussion was crazy. But do
you think voters look at this and because they project
that without that quarterback, Florida State's probably not going to

(47:36):
be as good as what people thought, that they use
that to their advantage. It's funny because I've tried to
bring out a pole or trying to do a poll
to see how I would vote. I think that they
do and where what I see is I see them say, Okay,
now that Florida State doesn't have DeAndre Francois, they wouldn't
beat usc they wouldn't beat Clemson, they wouldn't beat Penn State.

(47:56):
So now you start dropping to those teams. When you
get further on the list, maybe you're running into a
spot where where where there's a gap where like the
sixteenth and seventeenth and eighteenth ranked teams lost, so then
you can put them in that spot because you're not
gonna be moving up a team from twenty two or
twenty one high enough because maybe they just didn't have
an impressive victory. So I think that's how they would

(48:18):
look at it. I think that they would immediately drop
if this. If DeAndre Francois was healthy, Florida State stays
in the top ten. Now that he's not healthy, they
are going to be on fifteen. That's twenty which, if
you think about it, is not the way it should
be done. It should be it should be done. It
should be done based on what the game that took place,
just happened, what was the outcome of the game, what
did you see? But I think that voters use injuries

(48:41):
as a reason to dock teams further because they project
as opposed to instead of you know, recapping, they project, Okay,
what just happened in the game. They look ahead and say, well,
I I can't see them competing without that guy as
their quarterback. Could you imagine if they would have if
there would have been enough time, if they did that
to Ohio State when card l Joe just had to
come in as the third stringer a couple of years ago.

(49:02):
Ohio State didn't get punished because of it, because they
won all those games and because they were in the
biggest games of the season. But I think that it's
unfair for a committee to dock teams positioning based on injuries.
I think they did it last year in the m
v P race with Derek Carr because if he would
have finished that game healthy, he probably still would have
sat out. Maybe the final game of the regular season.

(49:24):
Would you have docked him then? Would you have punished
him them for sitting out that final guy? I don't
think you would, so, so I'm an agree with you.
I think they do look into injuries. I think they
use that to make their their claims on where a
team should be ranked, and I don't think it's the
way it should be done. When Ohio States lost J T.
Barrett in the Michigan game, they were then the next
week playing in Wisconsin in the Big Ten Title game.

(49:47):
And as the committee and again the committee doesn't look
at it at rankings at all, but we do in
in in when you start to try to figure out
how a ranking is done, that's when you get in
these arguments or these discussions that Jonas and are having.
It's what have you done as compared to what you
actually are In Ohio State, at least with cardale Jones
and their domination of Wisconsin in that Big Tent title game,

(50:09):
it didn't show that card that they were a better
team With cardale Jones, it just solidified and guaranteed and
seconded everything that they did previously leading up to that point.
Saying like this is a complete team. That's all that
it did. Really. If if they would have lost to Wisconsin,
they obviously wouldn't have made it. But if it would
have been a close game or that offense wasn't moving,

(50:31):
there's a very good chance Baylor or TCU would have
gotten the opportunity to then be in that playoff game.
But because it was so dominant and because it looked
like Ohio State didn't miss a beat, they were still
able to make that Final four. He is Dan Buyer,

We are, so yeah, yeah, that's why. That's why Johnny
did it. Oh, we're on in l a. I. Okay,
thank you for letting me know. We will smash Jared
Goff before the end of the show. Hey, the NFL
wake up calls coming up in twelve minutes. There are
a few wake up calls in college football on Saturday
US he had one of them is they were playing
a tough game with Western Michigan, but the Trojans ended

(51:59):
up ing away thirty one. But the story of that
game was not the win was not Sam Donald. The
story was Jake Olsen, the USC Trojan's long slept snapper,
who was blind, was able to take part and actually
do the snapping for the Trojans p a t kick
at the end of their win against the Broncos. An
unbelievable story for a kid that's been associated with the

(52:21):
program for years and years. I remember the pieces done
by ESPN and others on this story about this great kid,
and now he is suiting up for USC and did
so on Saturday. This is the Doug Gottlieb Show. We
are in for Doug today because Doug was filling in
for Colin Cowhard on The Herd on Fox Sports Radio
and FS one. And it was earlier today that Doug

(52:41):
got a chance to catch up with USC long snapper
Jake Olson. You had you were born with cancer in
one retina and so you had one good eye. You're
twelve years old, you were about to have surgery on
the other eye, and you went to USC's practice and
spend time with Pete Carroll and the team that that's
that's the story the ESPN told going back, What was

(53:01):
that like eight years ago? Yeah? Been eight years ago. Okay,
So what's happened since it's brought to USC. Also again,
back when I was twelve, Coach Carroll took me under
his wing and really made men remember that team and um,
those guys were there for me and in one of
my darkest moments. And then you know, as a huge
Trojan fan before that, so it wasn't it wasn't like

(53:23):
I was going anywhere. And again the stay stayed close
with coach Carroll even though he went up to Seattle,
but also stayed close with you know, the just the
university and the football department and department, and I always
wanted to go to USC, so make sure I had
the grades to get in throughout high school and picked

(53:44):
up long snapping in my junior year. I really want
to get back on the football field, so I picked
up long snapping and started on varsity my junior senior years. Okay,
so down here, okay, Okay, so you're you're blind and
you picked you to like, picked up long snapping. What's
the process of picking up long snapping when you're blind. Well,
so my freshman sophmare year, I did not play um

(54:07):
high school football. You know, I went to Lutherans. So
we're in the train of the league and so you know,
it's it's it's it's serious ball, you know, it's it's
it's physical, it's um it's serious. And I didn't think
there really was a spot for me on the field.
But I really missed being out there. I really missed
just playing football. So I came across the long stamping
position because it's it's muscle memory, it's feel, it's it's

(54:27):
it's the same yard as every time snapping the ball.
There's not there's not all these different variables. Um. And
so the long stamper that was at my high school
actually it was going to Utah and so there's gonna
be a huge vacancy open and I said, you know,
let me let me put this pick this up over
the summer and train really hard to see if I
can earn a starting position. So going in the summer,

(54:48):
I started long snapping and it was it was really
bad at first. It's it's it's definitely a skilled in
art that you have to practice, and trust me, I was.
I was not good at it at first. But every
day that summer I went out with my coach at
high school, um the such team spells and practiced with
them and started getting that feel down, getting the spiral down.

(55:09):
And you know, eventually when we came back in August
for for fall camp, they lighted the long snappers and
you know said, you know, Jake, You're you're you're the
best one we got, so let's put you in for
pts and field goals. Okay, So, um, how much of it,
like was did you say anything to your special team's
coach like, look, I want to earn this job because
I'm because I'm good, not because i'm blind and I'm

(55:31):
pretty good. Like did you ever have that conversation with them? No?
So in high school, I mean they you know, in
high school, you'll rarely find anyone who who, if they
put in the work, is not going to be allowed
on the team. Um. So originally, especially since I really
sucked at first, um, they were like, okay, yeah, Jake,
you'll be on the team. And I feel like it

(55:52):
was kind of just this, let's just let him be
on the team. But they didn't see me all of summer, um,
at least the majority of the team and the coaches didn't.
And so when I got back in August, it was awesome,
like whoa, you know, where's this where's this skill come from?
Like we didn't know you can stop like this? So
it really, you know, it was a job I had
to earn. It wasn't this kind of okay because you're
a social circumstance will put you in or though because

(56:14):
you know you're blind, will we'll give you the spot
over someone else. That it really was something I had
to earn, all right, So you earned that And then, uh,
how did you end up that you're you're on a
special scholarship at USC. It's the Swim with Mike scholarship,
which I want to I want to get into in
a moment. But look, Pete Carroll's gone, so too are

(56:35):
so many of the other coaches who replaced Pete Carroll. Right,
it's been it's been like a turnstyle there. Take them
to how it goes from you're not playing football, you're
a junior, uh, and you become the starting lon snapper
at Orange Lutheran to now you're on scholarship at SC.
Well again, so you know, I wanted I wanted to
get into s C and and got in, um you know,

(56:56):
the good grades. And then basically kind of throughout my
my last year of high school ball, um, you know,
Pat Hayde and Jake Kim McKay, who right here at
the time, basically came up to me and said, Jake,
you know, if if you're in here, you know there's
no reason why you shouldn't be playing football here. And
I said, oh, my goodness, you know that's that that
would be absolutely insane because you know, I I I

(57:18):
figures if I was going to see you know, i'd
be around the football team and around the athlete department,
just because you know, I had the instance out twelve.
But to actually be part of it and to be
practicing as a football player and then actual player here
is just something that really even caught me by surprise.
And you know, obviously I gave me more determinations just
to become the best long shapper I could and really
take take advantage of the opportunity that they were going

(57:40):
to give me. And so you know, got in and
swim with Mike. Which is an awesome organization that gives
scholarships to to UH to individuals who have become disabled
UM either due to a sports injury or due to
an injury UM non sports related but where once an
athlete once played sports and to get them UM scholarships

(58:01):
to USC. But they they're based on the USC, but
they UM allowed scholarships to anywhere in the nation. So
that that's just something that that's really an awesome organization
that I'm forever grateful for so that they they said,
you know, Jake Worre will give you a scholarship to
come that see and uh, you know, ever since I've
been here, working hard, and it's just it's just been
an awesome, awesome experience, something that I think God for

(58:23):
every night. Yeah, Son, and Mike has been around for
almost forty years. Uh. It was originally a paralyzed USC
all American swimmer started out for Swim for Mike to
raise money for him more finn to swim with Mike
and now many schools beside USC raised that money. And
of course, uh, they raised the money for Jake to
uh to Jake Olsen to join USC's football program on
full full scholarship. Okay, so you're heading in the Western

(58:46):
Michigan game. Did you know because because Clay Helton actually
talked with the Western Michigan staff about playing you and
you had to get cleared medically in order to play,
and they didn't want it to be live live. They
didn't want anybody to mess with you when you're out there.
Did you know that all this occurred before Saturday's game? Yeah, well, um,
coach Onlton had had come to me early in the

(59:07):
week and said, listen, you know they're they're probably were
we're trying to get you out there on Saturday, and
and they're they're probably a good chance. Um, and we're
actually aiming for the second quarter. Um. And you know,
it was a little closer than expected. And kudos to
Western Michigan and obviously Wish Michigan just first off, a
great football team, but you know, awesome that they U

(59:28):
we're on board with this, and you know, I always
I want to thank them for just for for co operating.
And so basically got down to the fourth quarter and
I I had pretty much accepted, okay, and it's probably
thinking of the game I'm gonna get into, but Susan
Marvell took back the uh the interception. You know, my
my older white came around to me and said are
you ready and said, well, you know, I haven't. I

(59:49):
haven't warmed up in quite a little while. So I
got a few snapped and during the time out and
just went out there and performed and it was awesome.
You know, it was an awesome, awesome moment. And uh,
you know, again I appreciate Western mission cooperating. Um. You know, again,
I I I put on let's see, almost almost sixty
pounds since being here, um since my freshman year. So

(01:00:13):
you know, I'm six four, So I I definitely could
handle any any contact that would that would be made
out there, but I appreciate them cooperating. Okay, So I
have a couple of just a couple of random questions.
You mentioned Marvel takes it back to the house, you
score a touchdown. How do you know what's going on
in the game. Do you have somebody are you listening
to the radio broadcast? You have somebody who's telling you
what's happening standing next to you. Well, I mean it's

(01:00:34):
it's a little bit of just kind of putting two
and two together. Um, you know, obviously the PA announcer.
You know, when when I can hear the crowd noise
and then and hear what, you know, obviously what happened,
and I'll ask people around me. But you know, I
followed football for the for the majority of my life. Still.
You know, either when there's when there's a noise that loud,
I either know it's been picked off or you know,
a fumble or something something happened that that's just not Hey,

(01:00:57):
we we knocked down a pass on third down. Um,
and sure enough everyone's going crazy and I figured we'd
scored somehow, and sure enough pix How Okay, Now you
had somebody who walks you out to line you up right, Yeah,
that's my holder. Okay, so he walks you out, Um
is there? Do you know the number of steps? Does
it change all the time? Like? How? How? What? What's
that process? Like? Well, you know it's just running out

(01:01:18):
on his shoulder and then obviously you know it's just
you guiding me out there, and then um, he'll grab
my hips and kind of put me in front of
the ball. Um, and you know, it's it's something that
again I did for two years in high school and
we've done you know, two years here I see and
lots of practices and so it's it's it's nothing that's
really that that difficult. It just needs to be taken,
you know. Uh, it needs to be done correctly. And

(01:01:41):
you know, because I can deliver a perfect snap, but
if I mamed up wrong and then guess what, it's
not it's good. If you do have a bad snap,
you can blame your holder. You know, you know it's
not it's not Jake Hey, did you line me? He
lined me up? Um, excuse, I used my caddy and
golf you know what, what what's the I'm sure you're
better golfer than most of us too. Um okay, So
what are those emotions like? When I look at at

(01:02:03):
twelve years old, you watched the team that you grew
up rooting for practice, You lose your eye, you think
you lose football. You're a junior in high school, you
pick back up football of a sudden, now you're on
USC's football team. Like, I might not even get into
this game, they said, I get into And now you
line up and you're holding onto football and it's gonna
be the first live snap of your college football career.

(01:02:24):
What were those emotions like? It was? It was crazy,
I mean, and I really tried to the best of
my abilities to press a lot of a lot of
emotions just because you know, I needed to focus on
just my muscle memory and feeling technique. But it was
more it was more of of, uh, the anxiety and
pressure kind of was before the game and in the
days lying up to it, just because I understood kind

(01:02:45):
of the the moment that was going to be if
I did get in um, and just what that what
what would that mean to me? And you know all
the sports nation. Um, And so that was really where
kind of that pressure came from. But once I'm Sime
was actually over the snap, to be honest, there was
kind of a sense of piece just because you know,
I kind of realized, Okay, you know this is something

(01:03:07):
I literally done tens of thousands of times, and you know,
it's it's this is this is anything different? Um, you know,
it's still eight yards, it's still just my technique. And
so at that moment, I really try to focus on that.
But you know, afterwards, oh man, it was it was
It was awesome. I was just it was. It was
the happiest maybe I've ever been in my life. Okay,
so then they have you lead the marching band in

(01:03:28):
the victory march up on up on the ladder after
the game, which is you know, an iconic USC thing.
That's not something you've done ten thousand times, that's not
something you've practiced. What was that experience? Like? It was awesome? Um? Yeah,
I actually I actually was able to when I was
back at twelve before losing my eyesight, when I was
with the team back when I was twelve years old

(01:03:49):
and I was able to lead the band. So to
get back up there and do that again was was,
you know, obviously very special. Um. You know, I I
definitely was able to picture what it looked like being
up there and looking over a bandon in the student section,
and you know, it was just was it was just
a very special moment. You know a lot of people
throughout seeing introjan Nation have been waiting a long time
for this, and so just for all is to be

(01:04:10):
able to enjoy this and kind of see see you
come together is just has been a completely just an amazing,
amazing experience. What was the name of the special team's
coaching orangs for Orange Lutheran uh coach of mre coach
started this whole thing out. Hey man, listen, congrats and
I don't know, I don't know if you're on Twitter,
if you realize how big a thing, but I mean, really,

(01:04:31):
everybody who watched college football who didn't or even didn't
pay attention to it, solve the story, remembered the story
from your twelve and thought it was just about as
cool as uh as as anything you can think of
in sports. Keep it up. Hopefully you get back in
against Stanford as you guys scored some touchdowns at the
Colisee in this weekend. In the meantime, enjoy that victory
lap in the radio tour. Thanks so much for joining us. Yeah,
thank you. Keep an eye out on and not to

(01:04:53):
confuse you, this is the Doug Gottlieb Show on Fox
Sports Radio. And that was Doug gottlie with Jake Olsen
of USC earlier today on their heard on Colin Cowherd
on Fox Sports Radio and on Fox Sports One. I'm
Dan Buyer. That's Jonas Knocks John Ramos, a b KR
edition of the Doug gott leep Shows. We were in
for Doug because Doug was doing that interview and it
really was one of the biggest stories that you had
in all of college football this past weekend, which by

(01:05:14):
the way, didn't develop a lot of storylines because it
seemed a lot of the favorites ended up winning. But
you had the Florida State injury with DeAndre Francois, you
had what transpired last night at the Rose Bowl, but
the Jake Olsen story a big story in college football
this weekend. Thank god we got Tennessee and Georgia Tech
put that Bowl on this uh Dan Buyer Jonas Knox
in for Doug Gottlieb here Fox Sports Radio. You can

(01:05:36):
listen as well on the I Heart Radio app and
on Sirius x M channel Lady three. You can get
Dan on Twitter at Dan Buyer on Fox. Up next, though,
we are going to tell you about some things that
you can expect this season in the NFL. But these
are things that maybe nobody else has informed you of
and it could spell bad news for your team. Find

(01:05:57):
out the very latest on that next. But first, for
the very latest on everything else in the world of sports,
we turned it over to Commander David Gascon with Los
Angeles Gentlemen. Despite the tragic events surrounding Hurricane Harvey, Texans
head coach Bill O'Brien said today that the Texans and
Jaguars will play Sunday's game in Houston Indianapolis Coulture without

(01:06:20):
Andrew Luck for Week one. The team announced today Scott
Tolzene as the starting quarterback week one against the l A.
Rams Bears. Head coach John Fox also made an announcement
on his quarterback. They're going with Mike Glennon in Week one.
Levyan Bell back from Pittsburgh signs his franchise tenure with
twelve point twelve million dollars me While in college football,
Georgia quarterback Jacob Eeson won't play this weekend against Notre

(01:06:42):
Dame because of a knee injury he sustained against Apps State.
Baylor running back and ja Michael Hasty out a month
with the knee strain, then switching over quickly. In Major
League Baseball, Red did some walk off work against Milwaukee.
There's a swing and a fly ball get back into
left center field that ballsad well head ball is balling.
Billy Hamilton lines one into the seats and lot center

(01:07:04):
field and sprints around the bases. He flips his batting
helmet in the air. He's mobbed at home plate. The
Brewers are absolutely shun Red's radio network. They went at
five to four. Royals just closed up the Tigers seven
to six. Detroit has lost five straight, but Brewers game.

(01:07:24):
I am now conceiving the fact that the Brewers aren't
gonna win the INNL Central, So it's now just trying
to track down the Rockies for that and a wild
card matchup of tou to face Arizona, who's playing great
Baseball right now. But I think the Cubs run away
within the inn al central Jonas. Yeah, I mean, who cares?
All right, let's the NFL is on the cock coming
up on Thursday. It's the opening Night Chiefs taking on

(01:07:47):
the Patriots. And this time of year, fellows, there is
a lot there is a lot of hope in the
National Football League. Maybe not of you're a Jets fan,
but outside of that, this season is a new and
you're hoping maybe your team can do the unexpected. There
are things that are being expected of a lot of
teams in the National Football League as well, so those
teams have high hopes as well as we start the year.

(01:08:07):
Why do you have to take a shot at the Jets? Dan?
I mean, first of all, I've been saying this because
everyone assumes that they're going to go in sixteen. Week
eleven is the key week for the New York Jets week.
So just like ahead looking ahead to that break. It's
like when school starts, you're already looking ahead to Thanksgiving vacation.
That's what a lot of kids are probably doing right now.

(01:08:29):
But well, we're doing on the Doug Gottlieb Show on
this PKR edition, we are giving teams across the NFL
and their fans a wake up call. Johnny Ramo dropping
the beats these everybody's gonna get on this, Johnny Ramos
lead to lap Our executive producer David gascon Our update
anchor will join Jonas and myself and giving wake up

(01:08:49):
calls to the NFL. My wake up call goes to
the NFC East. Talk all of you want about the
New York Giants, talk about the Dallas Cowboys and Washington.
You could have your hopes, but the Philadelphia Eagles are
gonna win the NFC East. That is a wake up

(01:09:11):
call to the rest of that division. They're gonna go
from the popular worst of first, the Philadelphia Eagles will
be champions of the NFC East. Sorry Cowboys, too many distractions,
no running game with the Giants, and I think the
Redskins are actually kind of a mess. Philadelphia is gonna
win the NFC East, and that is a wake up
call to that division. O man, First of all, I

(01:09:32):
love this music. By the way, while you were talking
lead to laugh Our executive producer offered me ecstasy. So
I don't know if this is the music that got
him worked up and got him all aroused at this
point that I like the pills were actually shaped like
John Ramos's new big Baller branch. All right, Dan, my

(01:09:53):
wake up call. My wake up call goes to the
Los Angeles AM's fan base. Now the Rams are a
much more talented roster. Yeah, I probably should have waited
for that, but I just I lose it in this music.
There's glow sticks, we got a strippers and study. I

(01:10:13):
just it's crazy in here right now. The Rams have
improved a talent wise. They were a better football team
than they were a year before, and the coaching staff
seems like they've got everybody on the same chain, the
same page, more so than a year ago. But they
got this one problem. You know, there's this one issue
the Rams got. It's Jared Goff. He stinks, Okay, Jared Goff,

(01:10:37):
he is a bust. There are certain quarterbacks when they
get into the league, they sort of look like they belong.
They look like you see him and you look at
Patrick Mahomes and you go, he kind of gets it.
You watch Trabisky playing, you go kind of gets it.
You You look at Carson Wentz last year and it
was like early on, Yeah, he kind of he kind
of gets all this. Jared Goff still looks lost. Everybody

(01:10:57):
tried to hype up how how well he did in
the second preseason game, but then when it came to
the third preseason game, which is where everybody really auditions,
he went back to the same mediocre to below mediocre
quarterback that he was. Wake up call, Rams fans, You've
got yourself a bust under center and Sean McVeigh doesn't
howe him anything. Sean McVeigh is gonna yank him. He

(01:11:18):
will be bench this season, and I'm telling you Sean
Mannion will start in l A. It sounds like you
had Johnny Ramos right in your crosshairs as a Rams fan.
Let's go to Johnny Ramos with his wake up call
for the NFL guys. I'm going I'm not even touching
the nfcy West. I'm going to the NFC South. Carolina Panthers.
You're in the Super Bowl what like two years ago.

(01:11:40):
That Cam Newton troubles are just beginning. It's gonna be
tough for them to even get into the playoffs this season.
Who do I like at the NFC South? How about
the Bucks? The Saints of the Falcon anybody with the
Panthers for Johnny ramos Hey Charlotte's wake up lead, the

(01:12:00):
lab Our executive producer with his wake up call for
the NFL kill ze right now, my wake up call
is to the NFC North. I don't know if it's
as much as a wake up call as it is
a friendly reminder. But this is a Packers division. Everyone
else tould just go on home. Vikings, Lions, Bears. I
don't care how much money you throw at Matthew Stafford.
I don't care if you brought in Tom Brady. Nobody's

(01:12:21):
gonna bring down the pack this season. They are set
for the Super Bowl. Leah super Bowl prediction and his
wake up call David Gascon at the update. Never mind
the fight for l A. The Chargers need to worry
about the entire a f C West, but the division
is wide open. So what they need to focus in

(01:12:42):
on scoring a lot of points, even if they don't
win a lot of football games. Mike Williams coming off
the pup list, keithan Allen coming back off I R
towards a c L last season. Then you got Antonio Gates,
Hunter Henry and of course Melvin Gordon the backfield. You've
got a future Hall of Famer in Philip Rivers. Even
if the Chargers don't win a lot of games that
they're around six and ten, eight and eight, and they're

(01:13:03):
putting up twenty six is twenty seven points, You'll get
a lot of people interested, especially because no one gives
a rip about the L. A. Rams Raiders, the only
team that gives them any competition here in southern California.
The wake up calls for the National Football League. Hey,
you heard it here first, by the way, I had

(01:13:24):
like to other wake up calls. Yeah, man, it's too
bad Bengals. I know that. I think we're on the
same page with the Bengals. I think they're gonna think,
do you have another wake up call? Can we do
this later on with that music again? You just want
to hear the music, that's the case. Yeah, Yeah, we
can do it. Yeah, we can do it. Yeah, we
got some weak Just for some reason, it channeled my
inner Ron Washington, if you know what I mean. I

(01:13:46):
don't know what the first time, first time I've done cocaine.
One of the odds I got busted. That's because I've
never done it before. I was so bad at hiding.
I did it in a caddy, Dan Buyer, Jonahs knockson
for Duck leave here Fox Sports Radio. You can always
listen on the I Heart Radio app as well as
on Sirius x M channel Lady three. You can get
me on Twitter at the Jonas Knocks up. Next, though,

(01:14:09):
there is somebody a major influence in the world of
football who is now calling for a head coaches job.
Find out who that is next year on FSR. It's
the Doug Collage Show on Fox Sports Radio. I'm Dan Buyer.
That's Jonas Knocks Johnny Ramos here as well as it's
a b Care edition in for Doug today on this
Labor Day. Hit us up on Twitter. I'm at Dan
Buyer on Fox Jonas. They can get you as at

(01:14:31):
the Jonas Johnny Robbos. Any social media attention can go
where on Twitter? Well, it's Labor Day, right, yes, yes
it is, so we're gonna throw out a special special
one just for Labor Day at j S. Ramos zero six,
zero six even though it's the fourth, it's zero six
on the Twitter handle today. And just because it is

(01:14:51):
Labor Day, Doug's not here doesn't mean that we don't
keep things going along now. And the reason Doug and
here is because he was on the herd earlier today
on the Colin Cowhard Show on Fox Sports Radio and
Fox Sports One as he was in for Colin. We
heard him talk with Jake Colson earlier. But Doug also
took aim at college football with the Texas A and

(01:15:14):
m Eggis and specifically a board of regent, a regent
who ended up saying Kevin and Sublin should be fired.
Making a post on Facebook following last night's defeat to
u c l A, where the Eggies blue a thirty
four point lead, the regent boasted that he had kept
quiet about someone for a while, but last night finally
he had enough someone in the Eggies were out coached,

(01:15:36):
even though they had better players. U c l A
took it to him in the second half and it
showed why Kevin Sumlin should not return. Doug took issue
with that, Dear Tony, you're a clown, You're a fool.
You're basically the parent who's complaining about the coach to
other parents while grumbling in the stands. It doesn't mean
your vote doesn't count, but putting it out on Facebook

(01:15:56):
is fanboy stuff, and it's the things. It's the type
of stuff that makes us make fun of places like
Texas A and M. And I know that this is
not simply a Texas A and M problem, But you
lost one game by one point, which you had dominated
for three quarters. If Kevin someone doesn't have a good year,
he's gonna get fired, he's gonna get paid to walk away.

(01:16:18):
He'll get that eleven million dollars and you will get
your wish. But what good was done by your Facebook
post other than embarrassing yourself, the rest of the Border
Regions University, and making it more likely that your team
sees an unsuccessful season than a successful I'll tell you what.
Tony Buzzby did have a hundred and twenty seven likes
by the time the screenshot was taken, so we did

(01:16:40):
gain that by posting it. I think he said what
everybody else was thinking. I know Doug didn't like the
way that Tony Buzby went about it, but I think
there are a lot of Texas A and M fans
who felt the same way. Hey, everybody stopped feeling bad
for Kevin. Someone like I. I actually disagree with Doug
because Kevin someone fired his pool boy on social media.
Like remember when that story came out a couple of

(01:17:01):
years ago where his pool boy went on Twitter and said,
I wonder if I wonder if coach somelany I was
just cleaning pool at his house. I wonder if he
is talking to his new defensive coordinator, because there was
rumors that they were going to be hiring. So you know,
some guy's a defensive coordinator and Kevin Sumlin clowned the
guy on social media and fired him on Twitter, basically
punked out his pool boy. So I'm not gonna throw

(01:17:23):
any amount of any pity party whatsoever for Kevin someone
getting called out for his job on social media, not
even for a second. By the way, it should be
noted Jon Javis was brought over from L s U
to be the defensive coordinator of that Texas and M
and and known as the chief, thought to be one
of the best defensive different different guy. But yes, he
was also doing as the chief. Texas A and M's

(01:17:44):
defense hasn't gotten any better during that time. In College Station, Dan, Yes,
there were some college football games this weekend, right and
some upsets. No, I don't know if you were familiar
with the un l V and Howard game. So did

(01:18:05):
you hear the final call of that? By the way,
I didn't we have that. Yeah, if we can track
it down, I know that that Lee can go and
get it. But I did. I was aware that Howard
was the the the victor in that game against the Rebels,
and that Cam Newton's younger brother was the quarterback for Howard,
the Howard Bison as they went into UH into Vegas
and they beat U and l V U and LB

(01:18:27):
was a forty five point favorite to win the game.
And so Howard went in there and they beat un
l V. And so then you start thinking to yourself, Okay, well,
how big of an upset was this? Now? Point spread wise,
it's the biggest up It's the biggest upset possibly in
college football history as far no ranked team like. It's

(01:18:48):
not like because it was a four. It was forty
five points was the line. So I guess here was
the final call. Courtesy of the Bison radio network Rogers.
Rogers scramble around, they have some room to throw it there,
and now let's see if they can pitch it back.

(01:19:08):
It's Thomas. Thomas should have pitched it back, and that's
the ball game at a huge up set here at
Sam Boys Stadium. The Bison just just rushed the field
and that's a heck of a job by Mike. Lennon
did a heck of a job with his team today,
and the way they came out and played, you know,
they just wanted it a little bit more. Looks like

(01:19:31):
I want to correct you, Jonas. That was John Romison,
his son Lucas on the call of that game. They
took a tape recorder and we're able to do the
final call. The first guy was It sounded like he
was on a ventilator. Got man, wake up. The biggest
upsetting in college football history, and that guy sounds like
he's calling a video game from the eighties. They actually

(01:19:53):
did it from the car in the parking passed. They're like, hey,
let's just do it here from this daddy. Um so,
I I talked with m I talked with the guy
Pain from pain Insider dot com. He's a professional sports
better and I asked him just how significant it was.
He said that a hundred dollar bet on Howard to

(01:20:14):
win the game outright would have paid seventy one thousand,
five hundred dollars, right, just okay, so a hundred dollars win, said,
and then Liberty who also won. Liberty who beat Baylor,
they were a seventy to one underdog. But here's the
other here's the best part. So there's this thing called
a parlay where if you bet a couple of things,

(01:20:35):
they all have to happen in order for you to win,
but you win a significant amount more. He said that
if you would have bet Howard, Liberty, cal and Maryland
on a parlay to all win outright, which is what happened,
a hundred dollars would have won you two hundred million.

(01:20:55):
You imagine that. Here's the thing, John Ramos, go ahead,
well did you really quickly? Luke and I did call
the final play of the Super Bowl big win by
the Patriots last year. Yeah. We put it in stamp
for Rogers, scrambling around Rogers room to throw it and

(01:21:16):
now let's see if they can pitch it back. So
he's texting at the same time, we actually have exclusive
audio of Aaron Rodgers playing fourth grade football stamp for Rogers.
There it is, and we were alive for that. By
the way, on that four team parlay, I hit three
and just came up short. And Johnny Ramos is here

(01:21:39):
as well. Glad to have you with us on this
Labor Day. As we are in for Doug a b
k R edition, we will have exclusive audio from Buck
Rogers peewee football game that he had in the nineteen fifties.
We'll have that coming up a little bit later on
on the show. We put a ball on the college
football weekend five straight days. I have to be honest, Jonas,

(01:22:00):
I'm about good with college football for right now, like
four straight days of it and of of intently watching
whether it started Thursday night with Ohio State in Indiana
and Oklahoma State taking on Tulsa, even took in some
Friday night action a full day on Saturday. We had
the Dandies last night and land over with what was
Virginia Tech and West Virginia and then U C. L
A and Texas and them and that amazing comeback by

(01:22:22):
the Bruins, um Tennessee and Georgia Tech. Yeah, alright, let's
get it. Let's move on to to week number two.
I'm I'm ready to move on and know the Monday
night game as a tradition on Labor Day weekend, but
I'm about ready to go. Yeah. And also I think
this is an important game because it's at Mercedes ben
Stadium in Atlanta, the brand new stadium out there, and
Chick fil A's open, you know, so that that is important.

(01:22:44):
Chick fil A will be open. It's not a Sunday
as Chick fil A has this dumb tradition where they
close on Sunday. Not um, It's not just a little bizarre.
It's family. It's for the family, and that's why they
do it, so the family. They can spend time with
their family. And that's why. And they still you know,
make make a lot a lot of hash only operating
six days out of the week. It was. It was
open during the Alabama Florida state game as well at

(01:23:05):
the stadi stadiums. But for Falcons games not happen. You
know what I would do. I would open up a
KFC right next door to say we're open every day.
We work harder than them come here. Isn't there There's
gotta be some sort of rule about what you can
place where, just like you have in strip malls where
you can't have to like hair care product places, you
can only have one. You can only have one, like,

(01:23:25):
you're not gonna have a you know, a store like
Spen Spencers wouldn't be next to Hot Toime. Yeah, exactly,
you can't do that. That that wouldn't be That wouldn't
be good. But I'm ready to move on to Week
two in college football. There are a couple of good
games coming up next weekend. Ohio State is home to Oklahoma,
and then there's a Pack twelve showdown. USC after they
win against Western Michigan will take on a yes, A

(01:23:48):
two and oh Stanford cardinal team or excuse me, a
one or no Stanford Cardinal team after they wanted against
Rice in their Australian opener. USC and Stanford playing in
that Pack twelve showdown early on Jonas and this is
gonna be a test for USC, a test because there
are some that don't believe that the Trojans are may
be worthy of their top four ranking. One of those

(01:24:09):
guys is Pete Futach of College Football News dot Com,
who joined us earlier on the show to express his
concern over the Trojans. I'm not wavering USC. I have
said from the start that the Trojans are not one
of the five best teams in the country. It's good.
Uh that was no fluke. That team is going to
struggle a little bit. I am really interested in seeing

(01:24:30):
what they do against Stanford because Western Michigan is good.
This is still a solid team. They have a lot
of pieces in place from the team that wins thirteen
and o before losing in the Cotton Bowl to Wisconsin
last year. But it's still a MAC team. It's still
Western Michigan and they were able to get physical on USC.
Now you've got rested Stanford coming in. This is the

(01:24:51):
as physical team as it gets. I want to see
if USC can stand up and stand up to the bully,
and that's what Stanford plays like right now. If they
can look in pressing against the Cardinal, I will start
to kind of, you know, get off this. You know,
USC is overrated bandwagon thing. I just don't quite believe
in them like everyone else seems to like him. That
came at the Colisseum this Saturday. If Stanford would win

(01:25:12):
that game, Jonas, you put that in their back pockets
or that have a packed twelve title game, if they
can end up winning the Pack twelve North. But when
you look at their schedule, they've got number eight Washington
at home and a Washington State team. That's it could be,
you know, hovering on the top twenty or twenty five.
But other than that, Stanford could have a nice run
here if they can knock off USC, whereas the Trojans,
if they get this game, then maybe they can start

(01:25:33):
some momentum. It's just so funny how it takes one
week and all of a sudden the doubts starts to
creep in. I mean, USC blew the doors off Western
Michigan in the fourth quarter of that game. But but
up until that point, I mean, nobody out here that
has Direct TV saw it because the Pack twelve networks
not on Direct TV. So that was awesome. But USC
is sort of this trendy pick everybody expects because of

(01:25:55):
Sam Donald, because he put on such a show in
the Rose Bowl last year that Sam Donald came out,
and they just expected that USC is gonna be one
of these top teams in the conference. And all of
a sudden, maybe after the first three quarters or after
one game, you're looking at it and going, Okay, well,
maybe we were kind of overhyping Sam Donald in USC
a little bit, And I'm just curious. This is why

(01:26:15):
I always like going back and looking at the top
twenty five after the season's over to see how close
these teams were to where they were ranked before the season,
because you can, you can make a case. And and
Pete Few text one of these guys who he looks
at it and says, I just think there's difficulty throughout
the schedule. If USC ends up being a three lost team,
I don't think it's that surprising. I really don't. Well

(01:26:37):
think of the think of the shake up that could
happen if USC ends up losing this weekend. You had
a one versus three matchup this past weekend where Florida
State not only lost the game, they lost their starting
quarterback for the season. So that is we predict will
drop Florida State out of the top ten. If USC
ends up losing, that would take the Trojans out in
Stanford would then likely shoot up into the top ten.

(01:26:58):
You've got another two verses seven matchup at least as
the rankings say right now, which I think that Oklahoma
will end up moving up because of the Florida State lost.
Jonas Oklahoma and Ohio State, one of those teams are
likely going to drop after playing this upcoming Saturday because
of a loss. There's already just a lot of shake
up and movement that we've got in the top ten,
and we're just one weekend in college football, so there's

(01:27:18):
still a lot to learn. As Pete Futech said, with
in the case of USC, you don't know what these
teams are. We really don't know what half of these
teams are. Even Michigan's win against Florida this past weekend
in in a game where you know how much I
love alternate jerseys. I know how much you hated what
you saw at Jerry's World at at and T Stadium.

(01:27:39):
Why don't you just say your West Virginia? You know why?
Why why do you why do you have have have
have Kevin Pitts snoggle come out and uh and do
the coin toss for you, Like, just say you're West Virginia.
That's that's why you turn on the TV. You go, oh,
West Virginia's playing Florida. I know that was happening. He
thought they were playing Duke to be honest with because
Florida looks great in orange. I don't think Florida looks

(01:27:59):
great in blue. And I didn't like how Michigan had
their Maze uniforms. It would have looked better if it
was an all Navy that there is no doubt about that.
What was the worst moment for Florida fans a right,
was it when they saw Malik Saire in the game
late in the game and they were just a disaster
on offense? Or was it when their coach was that

(01:28:22):
people thought that their coach had had sex with a
dead shark on that boat, that picture that came out,
that wasn't Jim mcawan. That he went to all of
the the great lengths to say that wasn't him, and
that how how stupid. Though I would say this, it's
those Florida fans that felt that they knew the team
would be strong defensively but not offensively and took the

(01:28:43):
under and then watched Malik Zayre get sacked twice and
then fumble and then the over hit up. Unbelievable. That
would be the way that it would go. Yeah, that guy, alright,
let me tell you who that guy is. He was
in Vegas. Um, he's already on bad terms, that he's
separated from his wife because he's a gambler. And then
he figures Okay, I'm gonna hit it big, and I'm
gonna hit it big on a game that's gonna end early.

(01:29:04):
So he put it all on the under of Michigan
and Florida, just thinking Florida's got no offense, they can't
figure it out their suspensions. I like, I like Michigan's defense.
And then all of a sudden, Malik's ear goes back
uh sack fumble in the end zone and it's a touchdown.
And that guy literally got up from the sports book,
walked over to the ash tray and started eating lit

(01:29:24):
cigarettes on his way out and jumped into the Bellaggio fountain.
He is a miserable human being right now. And it's
all because Malik's i ear stinks and Florida has no offense.
The game Cocks are gonna win the SEC East hand.
Oh it was. It was amazing because as you don't,
you know that Michigan is gonna play tough. But Wilton

(01:29:44):
Spate is not one of the top ten quarterbacks in
college football. There were a lot of big time passages
that he missed. But Michigan is going to be in
games against top teams because of all physically, even though
they had lost what nineteen starters and bring back only
three or four guys from a year ago. Florida was
depleted at ten guys on suspension, didn't know who their

(01:30:05):
quarterback was. Those two teams we just do not know.
We know, we know that Michigan's gonna compete, but we
just don't know how far they're gonna go. There's just
still a lot of questions with college football, and very
few were answered this week. The only questions that I
think we're answered Jonas were Florida State now is in
deep trouble without DeAndre Francois, the Texas turn around isn't
even close to happening after Maryland went to UH to

(01:30:28):
Austin and beat the Longhorns, and that the Kevin Summlan
era Texas a at M is over with Those are
the three things that I think that we can take
away from the first weekend in college football. Well, the
good thing about USC, because we talked about USC and
how they could struggle, is even if they lose to Stanford,
they do have their bye week in week three in
two weeks because they play Texas, So that is that

(01:30:49):
will be a bye week for USC. Because Texas is
is what I what I thought they were the just
an overrated program. Uh. And I want to know how
long before Texas fans start calling for Tom Herman's job,
like they started calling for Charlie Strong's job, because if
you remember a year ago, after they beat Notre Dame
on that big Labor Day game, that was a fantastic

(01:31:11):
game down the stretch with Shane Blushell, Oh, Texas Football's back,
everybody walking around doing the rip off metal sign going
hook them, and then all of a sudden they stunk
up the joint later in the season and Charlie Strong
got fired almost immediately. I just I wonder how long
before they start calling for Tom Herman's job. The lost
that Texas had at Kansas signified the end of the

(01:31:32):
Charlie Strong era. But when you look at the last
the Notre Dame game from last year and you look
at this Maryland game, there probably isn't too much difference.
Texas was able to didn't get the offense going. They
had some early special team scores that got their offense going,
but the defense it was the same thing kind of
with Texas A and M as well. As You're wondering, Okay,
if this team is gonna take the next step? Are
they gonna do it? On offense and on defense? The

(01:31:55):
Texas Notre game Dame Notre Dame game last year was
like what forty seven something absurd like that. So you
could say Tom Herman isn't doing what he's doing in
Texas all you want, because that offense wasn't great early
odd but their really biggest deal, not was trying to
stop teams. Because when you're allowing fifty one points, yeah,
you're not gonna you're you're not gonna win. So the

(01:32:15):
so the difference of last year and this year Jonas
at the start of the season really aren't that far off,
except that Texas just want to shoot out against Notre Dame,
a team that ended up not being good at all
last year, and Maryland could actually maybe be better than
what Notre Dame ended up being a year ago, and
Texas allows him to score fifty one well, and Tom
Herman was talking after the game and said, listen, did
did if people thought I was gonna come in here,

(01:32:35):
We're gonna sprinkle faery dust on this thing and turn
it around nine months, You're crazy? And he's a hundred
percent correct. He's spot on with that. It does take time,
but at Texas and at big programs like that, you
don't have a lot of time. All right, It's like
the pressure is on everybody wanted him there, that they
they're paying a fortune to get him there. They're they're

(01:32:55):
paying off other contracts and the paying off Charlie Strong,
He's I'm just one. How long, like how long of
a leash does he have in Austin Because it's Texas
and they are an unreasonable fan base and instead of
acknowledging what they are, they just simply acknowledge what they
think they are. It's not two thousand five anymore. Before that,
you hadn't won a national title in over thirty years.

(01:33:17):
Deal with what you are. Stop thinking and you're you're
something greater than the reality, which is you've been fifth
in the state of Texas as far as recruiting and
as far as success over the last several years. You're
just not a very good program. That's it. At USC
showed out Coming up on September six, a couple of
big games this weekend again Oklahoma, Ohio State, Georgia is

(01:33:37):
at Notre Dame. But Georgia going to be without Easton
as they're starting quarterback because of injury for Dave mentioned
the updates today, Uh, Dan Buyer, Jonas Knox in for
Doug Gottlieb here Fox Sports Radio. You can always listen
on the I Heart Radio app as well. You can
get Dan on Twitter at Dan Buyer on Fox you
can find me at the Jonas Knox up Next though,
there was a surprising move made in the NFL over

(01:33:58):
the weekend. We are going to take you to the
scene of the situation and find out why it all
went down. It's a quarterback move. We'll talk about it
next year on FSRUH two b KR edition. I'm Dan Buyer,
that's Jonas Knocks. He's Johnny Ramos. There used to be
a show called Reel And in the years, an old

(01:34:19):
radio show, and I remember growing up in Wisconsin. It
was on Saturday mornings. You always hear some of the classics. Um.
Speaking of classics, Frank Swab joins us to talk NFL
as we're in for Doug Gottlieb today here on Fox
Sports Radio. Of course NFL writer for y'all, who's sports
in the shut Down Corner Blog? What's up? Frank Heavy
Labor day, Hey, what's going on? I think a lot.

(01:34:40):
Let's start. Let's start hearing the National Football League with
the Indianapolis Colts. How bad is this team going to
be without Andrew Luck as it's starting quarterback Week one
against the Rams, and even further on, as we heard
Chris Ballard say, they're not even sure when he's going
to be back practicing with the team. Yeah, and it's
not just Look Vande Davis is probably their best defensive

(01:35:02):
player and they're gonna be without him for a few
weeks too, So I ain't gonna be pretty, Let's put
it that way. I mean more respect to former Wisconsin
Badger Scott Tolzeen, but yeah, it's it's just it's a
it's a team that's entirely revolves around one guy as
much as anybody in the NFL, except maybe like the Saints.

(01:35:23):
But they're just I just don't see them doing very much,
you know, with with Luck on the shelf, we have
no idea how long Luck is gonna be out. That's
the we're thinking this age. I mean, we get information constantly.
There's been no real update on Luck at all. If
I told you he's gonna miss ten weeks or one week.
We would have no idea whether that's true or not.

(01:35:45):
I mean, there's no updates coming out of the Colts.
Luck is, I guess famously secretive with his health information,
so nothing's coming out of him. It just leads you
to believe that we have no idea when the Colts
are going to get their main player back, and they
might be well out of the race by the time
and he does come back, who knows how long he's
gonna be about. I have no clue. He covers the
NFL for Yahoo's Sports. He is Frank Schwab joining us

(01:36:06):
now in Fox Sports Radio. Frank, you're based in Denver? Correct? Yeah? Okay,
How the hell did Brockos Whiler end up back with
the Broncos? What people think? People always forget this that
seventeen months ago John Alway tried to get broadcast Wiler
sixteen million dollars a year. So and if I wasn't
surprisedly to as much, people especially out here, loved to

(01:36:28):
believe that. Oh John Elways so smart, he knew when
to cut loose, brocost Wiler move up. Now now he
just got out bid. That's all. In two thousand fifteen,
brockcost Weiler did play well for the Broncos. That seems
like ancient history, but he helped them win a game
against the Patriots some primetime, helped them win a game
against the Bengals in prime time. The two thousand and
fifteen Broncos do not win a Super Bowl without broadcosts

(01:36:50):
five in that season. So I do think within that building,
even though he laughed and it got kind of ugly whatever,
I still think there's there's more good feelings about brock
us while we're in that building then any other building,
and they feel like, hey, he knows Mike McCoy's offense
because he was here, you know, for a while when
McCloy was offensive coordinator. It's an easy transition. They need

(01:37:11):
a back up until Paxeon Lynch gets healthy. So it's weird,
it's funny, but I totally can see the reasons why
the Broncos are bringing back. How contentious did it get
when he was leaving? It all very contentious because you know,
I think that stems from Lay being a very competitive
guy and we all know that. I mean, so for
Elway to to basically think he's going to land brockos

(01:37:34):
Wilder again and not really see the writing on the
wall that that they had kind of really alienated him
by not just benching him during the season, but then
putting off his contract negotiations until Payton manningmate retirement official
the two thousand and sixteen off season. I think it
is just Elway being very very competitive that he got
his feeling to hurt a little bit that that asked
while they're doing to take the money they were offering

(01:37:55):
to stay with them. So you know, but you know,
desperate ations. He comes in and you need a backup
quarterback and all those feelings go aside and you just
kind of reconcile and make do with what you got.
Frank Swab joining us here on Fox Sports Radio on
the Doug Gottlieb Show. I'm Dan Buyer. That's Jonas Knox
talking NFL. I want to stay in Denver because I
still don't have any feel for this team. I don't

(01:38:17):
know if they're if their run was over. I still
felt that there were defensive pieces, but I know offensively
on the on their offensive line, they needed a lot
of work this offseason. Same thing with losing Malik Jackson
and others on the defensive line. Has this window closed
for the team now that Wade Phillips is gone as
the defensive coordinator, advanced Joseph moves in as the head coach.
I have absolutely no feeling what the Denver Broncos are

(01:38:40):
right now. Yeah, it's been kind of a weird run
for the Broncos because the first three years of Manning
era they were a legitimately dominant team and they didn't
win at all. And then the fourth year of the
Manning era, they the defense was was really really good.
Obviously in the offense fell apart, and they I don't
say they got lucky, but they got lucky. They were

(01:39:01):
eleven and two that season in games decided by a
touchdown of the last, which we know it should be
closer to five coin flip games. But they they wrote
this great streak of luck and maybe they would do
that luck after the first three years of the Manning
era when they didn't win at all, that they caught
some breaks. So when they went nine on seven last year,
it shouldn't have been that big of a surprise. You
can come to see regression coming. And what really stands

(01:39:24):
out to the Broncos to me, they still have a
great defense that's secondary is unbelievable. Even moving on from
t J Award there, their secondary allowed a passer rating
last year, if I believe, sixty nine point seven, which
is just absurd in today's NFL. The past defense is good,
the run defense is just okay. But what really bothers
me about this team as the schedule. If you take
a look at their schedule, they have by far the

(01:39:46):
toughest schedule in the NFL, but one of the toughest
schedules I've seen in years in the NFL. They have
a gimme against the Jets and they're spanking easiest game
might be at Indianapolis late in the year, and think
about that. That shouldn't be your second easiest game under schedules.
So I think I do have a tough time finding
nine or ten wins in the Bronco schedule because every
week is gonna be a grinder for the French. Juava

(01:40:06):
Yahoo Sports joining us here on Fox Sports Radio. All Right,
you're at day Vegas sports book, You're at the window.
You got a Hunter Bucks in your hand. You've got
to bet all hundred dollars outside of Deshaun Kaiser on
the first rookie quarterback to start a game this season.
Who you betting on. Oh, that's a really good one.
And I'll take Nate Pyramid off the board because you
might start this week on the technicality because Hyra Taylor

(01:40:29):
is still in a concussion protocol. I would I go
with Watson just because I have no faith in Tom
Savage at all. I just don't. I think the Bears
are gonna be stubborn about Trabiski. The Chiefs obviously gonna
stick with Smith. I mean, that's that's gonna be a
ton of a tectonic shift when Smith gets benched. But
I think you look at the Texans and and I

(01:40:50):
can't imagine they're gonna be very patient with Tom Savage,
who was never throwing a regular season touchdown pass. And
you know, Deshaun Watson will look great in the preseason
you look at at times, but never great. But I
just think that the Texans view themselves as a playoff
team and they're not gonna stand for you know, Savage
struggling around with the offense. That they get off to
a slow start. It's an interesting game. They have Jacksonville

(01:41:13):
week one, and Jacksville might not do a lot of
things well, but they do have a really good aggressive defense.
I want to I want to see what Savage does
against them, because I kind of see some struggles coming
for that offense. I also says at least on they
think on the Chiefs angle, it says so much about
Andy Reid and their loyalty. I mean that GM is
coming up making statements as well, and how much Alex
Smith is ahead of the game in Kansas City. He's

(01:41:34):
Frank Schwab Yah who's sports joining us here on the
de Gottlieb Show on Fox Sports Radio. How does the
Ezekiel Elliott thing play out in your mind? And the
thing is not the way way to call it, but
is he gonna play week one? Do you think we
see a suspension sooner rather than later? What's in the
future for Zeke? You know, I was I thought it'd be,
you know, just a Helptics Games suspension. And then reading

(01:41:56):
the work of my teammate Charles Robinson and Yah, who
has been writing about the for the past week, you
really get a sense at the NFL screwed this up
in many different ways. I mean, for the biggest example
that everybody's probably hurt by now, the lead investigator in
that case was was not allowed into or was not
invited into a meeting with Roger GADeL and they decided

(01:42:17):
on the six game suspension. And she was the only
one who talked to Ezekiel Elliott's accuser. She had questions
about the inconsistencies of her testimony, and and the lead
investigator recommended no suspension at all for Elliott. So and
there's just other things that just this leads me to
believe that the NFL really botched this. And after reading

(01:42:37):
you know, everything has come out, everything from the appeal hearing,
I don't think Ezekiel Elliot is going to serve a suspension.
I don't see how Harold Henderson can look them in
the face and give them any suspension at all after
what we know now, after what was argued during the
appeal hearing. And I don't see them reducing it. What
would logic be. I don't get anybody who thinks that

(01:42:58):
it's going to go from six to three. How would
you justify that they did him six based on a
domestic pilots policy. Are you gonna then say, well, he yeah,
we think he did, you know, assault her, but all
wasn't that bad, So we're gonna give her three. They
can't do that. It's either six or zero. There's no
middle ground here, there's no negotiating, there's no grading domestic violence.

(01:43:19):
Either he did it or he didn't. And I think
it's ei there's six or zero games, and right now,
from all I know, I'm gonna got guess it's gonna
be zero. I just think the NFL screwed this up.
And and Zekiel Eliot is not going to serve any
and he's especially I think he's definitely playing on Sunday
over way or another because even if they do uphold
the suspension, it's going straight to court. So if he
doesn't serve any games, if he's not suspending for any games,

(01:43:40):
like you say, just going on your gut feeling, how
does that impact the race in the NFC East. It's
you know, I was already before the Elliott suspension, I
was kind of on the fence of I think that
the Cowboys are going to regress. I mean, Bank Prescott
ain't doing twenty nine touch on four interception again, That's
how I gonna that. That's hard. Rep It's hard for
the Cowboy to repeat the season they had last year.

(01:44:02):
I'm kind of on the Giants band lag and I
think our defense is just unbelievable, and I think Eli
and that offense is gonna be better. So I was
already leaning towards the Giants, but it's obviously a lot
tighter if if Elliott plays all sixteen. Now, who knows
what's going to happen. That's just my guests that he's
not going to be suspended, but it is suspending six games.
It's a huge blow for that offense. That's that's the

(01:44:23):
guy who it revolves around. It's not Dak Prescott, it's
Ezekiel Elliott's the heart beat of that offense. So we'll see.
It's it's almost impossible to handicap it without knowing how
many games is Ezekiel Elliot is gonna miss. Find him
on Twitter at Yeah Who. Schwab covers the NFL for
ya Who in the Shutdown Corner Frank Schwab, Thanks Frank,
Happy Labor Day, Enjoy it was great to talk with Frank. Yeah,

(01:44:45):
it's um. I think the narrative on brock Osweiler when
he left Edver was, oh man, he burned so many bridges.
But then you start thinking back, and even when they
played each other last season, Von Miller and all those
guys were, you know, we love Rock. No there was,
so I think it was maybe more hyped up to
us that, oh man, a giant f you to John Away,
they must be on bad terms, when when the fact

(01:45:08):
of the matter is he was really on bad terms
with Bill O'Brien if you remember that incident they had
when he needed him to play and Brock ost wild
and him got into it. But he I guess he
always did have a good relationship with Denver. There was
that the there are issues about you know, meetings and
stuff as well that went on Houston, which seems so
uncharacteristic just because and I know you only get a

(01:45:28):
small snap shown. I don't cover the Bronchos on a
regular basis, but Brock cost Wilder in the Super Bowls
that that I covered when when he was the backup
to the Broncos very personable, just didn't seem fake at
any at any point, and so you could see why
his teammates, at least from my perspective, would would like
a guy like that. So I wasn't shocked necessarily about

(01:45:49):
how you said Von Miller and the rest of the team.
We're fine with broadcost Weiler and now is a new
home in Denver. Could you imagine be remember that defense
and you've got to look somebody in the eyes and say,
I believe we're going back to the Super Bowl. And
then when they ask you who your quarterbacks are, you
gotta tell them Trevor Simeon, brock Losswiler, and Paxton Lift.
Still who else is there? Well, Chad Kelly, Oh, you

(01:46:10):
mean the guy that threatened to shoot up a bar
with an a K forty seven in college. I still
feel Trevor Simeon, if you can get some blocking, can
get some things done. And that defense. T J Ward
now in Tampa. Could be some hard feelings between There
are some hard feelings between Ward and the Bronco's front office.
But it's gonna be a defensive team, as Frank said,
for sure, all right, Dan Buyer, Jonas Knox in for
Doug Gottlie Pierre Fox Sports Radio and on the I

in all of sports talk radio. That is coming up
for you next. But first for all the latest around
a busy labor day in sports. It's a competitor David

football is coming back to the city of Houston. So
despite some of the events surrounding Hurricane Harvey, Texans head

(01:46:56):
coach Bill O'Brien said today that Houston will host the
Jacksonville at Wars come Sunday, so good news for them.
In Indianapolis, though, no Andrew Luck for the Colts in
week one, the team announced Scott Tolzine is your Week
one starter. In Chicago. It's Mike Glennon, not Mitchell Trobinski
Levan Bell back with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He signed his

(01:47:16):
franchise tender today worth just over twelve million dollars. In
college football, Baylor tailbag Jamichael Hasty out a month with
a knees strain, Florida State going with a true freshman
now at quarterback, James Blackman, and a Major League Baseball

(01:48:01):
I did? I can't even remember my own predictions. You
and I work weekends here at Fox Sports Radio. It's
it's so nice that, like, I'm not talking baseball for
the next three months. How about you dance like that? Is?
I mean, not even a shot in hell? I talk
baseball for the next three formula You can catch my
podcast Rounding Third at Fox Sports Radio dot com, where

(01:48:24):
I break down the Major League biggs. I don't I
don't break down the top teams. I do all the
middle of the road teams, teams who are hovering around
five hundred. That's what we've got it. Rounding Third. You
do that other one between the seams, right, yes, yes,
John Ramos had one inside the baselines, but he's up
moved to two bigger and better things. Right Hello, John,
I said, John Ramos has moved to Bigger and Better things.

(01:48:47):
Show on Fox Sports Radio. It's the John Ramo Show.
It's the John Ramo Show, Ramo Show. This is the

a great show for you today. It's a magnificent Monday. Yeah,
that's right, let's get magnificent. Make sure it's always you

I want to know what makes your Monday magnificent? Is
it because you have a good day off? But did

(01:49:37):
you make a special breakfast today? I want to hear
from you, and I'll read your tweets on the air
later on the show. Plus, you heard it from me first,
from yours truly, I picked you Shelley would come back
and beat Texas Adam before anybody else me. I said
it first. Today Ryan Music is out, so my good
friend Lida lap is here with me. Lee. How's it

(01:49:59):
going going good? John? How you doing? Yeah? Yeah, let's
get things started. You know it's great about the John
Ramo Show. His name's Lee. We won't have him removed
from the show. Well, Lee, did you hear that Andrew
Luck is not going to play in the first week
of the season. Yeah, that really sucks for the Colts. Yes,
it does. At least there's one good thing about it though,
what's that? John? Well, at least my rams will have

(01:50:20):
one win. Went off script. It's the moment everyone is
talking about, and I'll bring it to you next on
the John Ramo Show. It start and he's got a
little sam It's I got the rough draft with our

(01:50:41):
two D two and C three p O. There's even
Chewbacca and Hans Solo. Oh all right, everybody going up first?
Send my son God, this song sucks. Don't forget don't
join me here up on stage later on for an
end to interview about their lives, their career, and we'll

(01:51:03):
definitely get them on before the closing time of the
John Ramos Show. Also, we have a John Ramos Show exclusive,
something you won't hear on any other show in the
country radio, TV, or see on any website or blog.
I will give you the winner of every division in
the NFL, and I'll give you one upset special Patriots
a f C East. Now let's talk some sports. Le

(01:51:28):
you have some questions, Let's get this in going. Sure,
Hey Jonas, what a game for U C l A
last night? Could you believe that they pulled off that
comeback win. Yeah, it was pretty incredible, man, dud. I
think Josh Rosen released you know, he showed up on
a big stage. He performed well. They were losing early on,
but I really like what what Josh Roseen U c
l A did late. Jon Oh, I'm sorry, Jonas, I'm

(01:51:48):
so with you on that. U s l A is
a team in the Western Conference this year, PA Pack
twelve was the yeah wain. They are the team to
look for the pactual. However, they're not as good as

(01:52:08):
you see on TV. Well you just okay, interesting, Well
let's go on, Dan, They signed brock Oswiler back to
the team after the Browns cut him. Does that make
John Elway look like an idiot or a genius? Pretty big,
pretty big words, they're pretty pretty strong. I would say
if I had to choose between one and the other,

(01:52:29):
would be idiot because you are bringing back a guy
that you weren't willing to pay for the first time
around on a team that's uh well, brock oswell, let's
just face it, hasn't made his mark in the NFL. Dan,
You're so right, brock Oswiler, he's a big kid. But
what has he done? He has him a lot, He's
been cut by so many teams. But everybody needs a quarterback.
I take him. He just he just went against what

(01:52:52):
he like. Get it, Jonas Levian Belly signed his franchise
enter today. Was this hold out all for nothing? No,
this is all about preserving health. He doesn't want to
show up in training camp and it's gonna take him
a little while to get back a little while to
get back into game shape, I would think. But he's
looking long term. He wants to get paid and he

(01:53:13):
wants to make sure that he can be as healthy
as possible entering free agency next year. God, I this
is unbelievable. You and I are right on target. Leving
On Bell is a guy that the Steelers need. He
is a type of player that everybody needs, a running
back that can do so many things, but you never
know if they can win with him. You don't believe
what our sports panel here on the John Robbo Show,

(01:53:34):
how to say about the biggest stories of the day.
That's right, it's panel talk. Next on the John Ramo Show,
a real action here's his hands come in turbo and
you can put an action figure aboard the big hit.

(01:53:55):
Let's hear it first, Semi son. By the way, how long?
How long do you think is over? Hey, guys, what
inspired you to chart topping hit closing time? That's the
question I'll ask later on. Don't worry, We'll get to that.
But before we do, coming up one of my all
time favorites. All bring you what happened today in sports history?

(01:54:17):
And let me tell you it's one of the most
unbelievable moments in sports ever. Right now, it's time for
everyone to sound off on one of the biggest youth
sports towards of the day. It's time for panel talk,
all right. First off, he's in charge of the central
news hub here at Fox Sports Radio. He manages entire
anchor staff. He's a coast of one of the hottest

(01:54:37):
shows in the nation, b k R. He has a
show every Sunday, by the way, with Mike Harmon. He's
an expert in golf, football, NBA, and really every other sport.
Once called the greatest radio sports castor from Wisconsin. He
hails from Wisconsin, but don't call him a Packer fan.
It's Dan Buyers be d v up. Back to the

(01:55:02):
guy who can't stand a lot of stuff, but you
always want to know his opinion. He grew up in
l A. But he is a fan for teams all
across the country. He roots for the Bears, the Penguins,
the Cubs, the Celtics. He once upset Giants wide receiver
Brandon Marshaw the Super Bowl event. He's a prince of darkness.
Jonas Knock Lap up next. He was once a deputy

(01:55:23):
sheriff and spokesman for the l A p D. You
know him from the early nineties during the O J
case when he arrested O. J. Sinson. Oh that's his dad. Okay.
He's an up to anchor. Here's Fox Sports Radio David Gascon.
He was once our pizza delivery guy and now he's
our beloved member of Fox Sports Radio. He's a producer

(01:55:44):
for Steve Gooman Sports. He's also produced g RNI, Spanier,
Chris Plank, Brian no Mark Willard, Steve Harman. The list
goes on and on. He's a cheesehead who can't wait
to see the Packers win the Super Bowl this year.
He calls Jan Carlos Stanton his best friend lead a
lap Alright, Ley, let's get let's get it going. Dan,

(01:56:06):
tell me what are your thoughts are on the Dodgers
and they're losing slump. I gotta be honest, John, I
don't think it's that big of a deal. That's what
that cushion allows you better now than in October. Like
in Kershaw should be in in postseason four by the
time the playoffs comes around. I don't think it's a
big deal right now. That's all the time we have
for tonight. A big thanks to everyone who tweeted in
using the hashtag the John Romo Show. Also thanks to

(01:56:28):
Semi Sonic for being tonight's musical guests. Sorry, we have
to get to your interview next time. In Lee, I'll
catch you on the front side. That's all Gude, what side?
I suppose the backside is for Ryan Music? So Lee,
the front side is all yours, very erotic sounding. Well,

(01:56:53):
the backside is for Ben Bolair, if you remember. My
favorite point was when John welcomed in l A and
then said, goody as it's in the afternoon to Los Angeles.
But again we're in a studio and we're not near
any windows, so we don't know what time it was. Okay,
By by the way, Dave's putting man. I thought John

(01:57:14):
was scratching a record. He's Labor Day party later on,
by the way, special light Labor Day tag hashtag the
John Ramo Yeah, and again we're not near any windows
or anything in the studio, so John doesn't know really
whether or not it's daylight out or not. You know,
like all eight of them, it's not even it's not
even evening on the East Coast. It's still five forty

(01:57:35):
three on their labor day, all right, So he is
Dan by Er. I'm Jonas Knox and for Doug Gottliepire
Fox Sports Radio. If you would like to, you can
listen to the show on the I Heart Radio app.
But if you would like to provide show content ideas
for the next time and the next edition of the
John Ramo Show, whatever the hell that is, you can
tweet him at j S Ramo zero six and John

(01:57:55):
what's the hashtag again? Hashtag the John Rommels Show up
next though, we are going to put the press on,
and we are going to put the press on involving
some very controversial stories in the world of sports. That's
next year on FSR. It's the Doug Gottlieb show on

(01:58:19):
Fox Sports Radio. I'm Dan Bio that's shown Knocks Johnny
romost here as well a b k R edition and
for Doug Today on this Labor Day, let's get you
caught up on the latest in the world of sports
with David Gascon The Press, The Press, In case you
didn't know, it's called it's called the Press. The segment
is called the Press. They what's happening in the world

(01:58:40):
sports gentlemen. James Slater from the NFL Network reporting that
the Cowboys had a couple of meetings and a walk
through over the weekend. Head coach Jason Garrett brought along
Ezekiel Elliott. He was involved in everything as things are
still leading up to a possible suspension for him six
games or it could be none. We'll see how it

(01:59:01):
developed some the next eight hours. I've said this quickly
on a fantasy angle for fantasy people who play fantasy football,
I don't almost rather have Zekila Elliott missed the first
six games, and then I know that I could have
him for the playoffs if I needed. Now you have
no idea when the suspension could come down. Just from
that angle, it would be better for a lot of
football fantasy football fans to know the suspension, especially if

(01:59:21):
the game early. By the way, you've seen some of
the details from his uh, his conversation, him testifying and
sort of acknowledging some of his behavior. That dude likes
the party. Man he's into He's into drugs and sex
and I don't know what's wrong with either. In Los

(01:59:42):
Angeles Rams, Aaron Donald continues to hold out he was
not at the team's practice today as they get geared
up for Week one's arrival of Scott Tolzin and the
Indianapolis Colts. So Donald's ducking the Rams? Yeah? Is everybody? Yeah?

(02:00:04):
Can we could get jonic Is promo? Since Aaron Donald
and Andrew Luck again are gonna be yea NFL and
Fox Music? Do you have the NFL and Fox Music?
You'll get it at three or five Pacific, John, wake up.
So just get ready for this Sunday at the world's
largest outhouse known as the Colosseum. What a dump this

(02:00:25):
Sunday as they gear up for game one of the
regular season in the NFL between two teams. As they
get ready to play with this Sunday another story and
as they jone is preview coming up in thirty after
David Gascott's next story. Yeah, um, go ahead, Dave, Yeah,

(02:00:48):
go ahead. Buffalo Bills are still looking for a quarterback.
Tyrod Taylor is not at a concussion protocol, but was
back at practice today going through individual workouts with the team.
Ah the Buffalo Bill New York Jets another dandy Week
one matchup? What is it with shortened team names? Rams
golds Bill's Jets? Truly garbage? Is it? Now? Is that

(02:01:11):
that's at Buffalo? Correct? Yes? Okay? Will there be a
sex sex toy throwing on the field? I hope so.
I think it's gonna be later on in the season. Oh,
I know that there won't be because I actually locked
my drawer this time, right. Uh. Broadcasting rants are rather expensive.
Rupert Murdoch betting big on the future of Cricket Star India,

(02:01:33):
owned by Fox, beat out Facebook and Sony, agreeing to
pay two point six billion dollars for global TV and
digital riots to India's Premier League for the next five years.
I'll tell you what, I got enough crickets outside my house.
We had one of the light mixtures the other day.
I did keep the kitchen light on just to shut
the stupid thing up. I have a buddy of mine.

(02:01:55):
His name is Bombay Bill and uh he's he's been
a huge a fan for a long time Indian Premier
League cricket. I p L. If you all do call
their press, get out there and pressed. That was the press.
Never didn't get to that promo, didn't we again? Well
you know why don't we do? Now? Just play anything.
