Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening Fox Sports Radio. Boom, What Up America, Doug
Gottlieb Show, Fox Sports Radio. I don't know why you
would ever change your dial from Fox Sports Radio. I
really don't. Clay Travis in the morning, to Dan Patrick,
to Colin Calherd, to Gottlieb to Gorman, Um on up
(00:21):
intil the night, you know, JT the Brick. I mean,
like listen, Ben Mahller and we got awesome weekend shows
are awesome. But if if that's ever, if it's ever
the case to which you think maybe I'll change, this
is the day to which you shouldn't do that. That's
because following my show, you know, and then you got
the Gorman Boys for an hour, and then at seven
(00:42):
Eastern time right here on Fox Sports Radio, Wald Wall
coverage of the NBA Draft with Karen Butler, Jason McIntyre,
and Chris Brussard. McIntyre will join us with some hot takes.
He's got his own muck draft that will get to
in fifteen minutes. Um, do Howard's gonna get bought out
after getting traded yesterday? We have some Lincoln Riley's gonna
(01:05):
join us, head coach of Oklahoma who one year in
Gotta Pay Bump. Dante Jones will join us later on
the show. We'll talk a little bit about Baker Mayfield's
appearance in the Herd, and uh I will mention that
the Cleveland Cavaliers are doing the right thing by not
openly opining and doing everything it can they can to
(01:29):
uh to to beg and plead to keep Lebron James.
All of that upcoming. But um, did you guys know
this that literally has been changed in the Webster's Dictionary.
Are you aware of this? This is Look, millennials have
brought some great things to the table, Ryan Music, your generation,
(01:49):
you guys have done some good things. Avocado toast. This
is a good thing. It really has um and I
do think that being aware of many political topics is important,
but the changing the definition of literally ranks above going
from aware to being woke. It really does that. That's
(02:12):
what it does. That millennials have spoken and because they
use the word literally wrong so many times, that they've
done what anyone who makes the rules will do, and
that they've changed the rules literally in Webster's Dictionary. That
only means what literally means, but it also means what
figuratively means, and the changing of the dection definition of
(02:35):
literally is like the changing definition of talent. Look in
my business. In my business, when you're on air, when
you speak into the microphone, we are called talent. That's
what the NBA Draft is this year. Don't get me wrong.
There's some really good players. Like if I if I
squint a little bit and I see Marvin Bagley, I'm like,
(02:55):
he could be Chris Posh, I get it. I like it.
He could be Crisp Bush. When I look at some
of the players in the league and I'm like, hm, hmmm,
look what I watched Chandler hutcheson play from Boise State.
I'm like, oh, that's a three indeed guy, a long arm,
can really shoot, not much of a ball handler, only
goes right. He could be Trevor Reasa. But there is
(03:18):
no Ben Simmons, I don't believe in this draft. There's
definitely no Lebron, James Carmelo, Anthony Duane Wade in this draft.
And so talent is a literal word, but by literally
I mean figurative word. We have to adjust to what
this talent is. Bagley's tremendous I actually have him as
(03:39):
the number one prospect in this class, and I have
Colin sections number two, Deandren not even the top two.
But he'll go number one tonight. We'll get to why
in a second, but the point is that when you
use the word when you said this draft, how talented
is this draft? Like, well, I actually think it's pretty talented,
maybe more so than last year. And some of you
(04:02):
will sit there and go, wait a second, that's blasphemy.
I watched last year's NBA draft class play so great
in the NBA playoffs, Right, that's what you're That's what
you're told, that's what you're led to believe, that last
year's NBA draft. But then you look in Marquel Folts
Markul Folts one obviously struggled this year with his confidence,
(04:22):
and we're told with the shoulder. Alonzo Ball only played
fifty fifty three games. I think he'll be a good player,
but for for about three quarters this season, he was
the worst shooter in the NBA. Jayson Tatum had a
tremendous playoff run average fourteen a game the regular season.
That's a win. Josh Jackson, does anybody remember what he
did for the Phoenix Suns? Dear and Fox was okay
with Sacramento. Jonathan Isaacs a project Lorie Marketing, played well
(04:45):
for for the Bulls that were terrible and they were tanking.
You know, Dennis Smith got some great dunks, but can't
shoot like you go down and like Malik monk Zak College,
Ben's player too young for Gonzaga. The problem is that
we now plucking guys younger and younger. If you don't go,
it ain't cool, right, and everybody coming out as soon
(05:09):
soon becomes Miles Davis stug outlum show here on Fox
Sport Trade. The point is that even if you look
at last year, you look at last year, you're gonna
sit back and you're gonna say Donovan Mitchell and you're right,
he's tremendous. Hey, Jason Tatum, You're right, he's tremendous. Um.
Even O g ediboy Is is going to be a
(05:32):
fantastic player. Kyle Kuzma at seven the first round, there's
a a stud player, but there's twenty two other dudes,
many of whom did nothing this year in the NBA.
So I actually think, I actually believe that this is
a more talented draft than last year's draft. But I
(05:56):
also believe that it's not one of the great drafts
of our lifetime, and it's not going to produce once
in a you know, generation changing basketball players. It's just
we don't have that type of weaponry coming out of
the college game. And and one reason is it's it's
really hard to tell because we haven't seen him long enough.
(06:17):
It's weird because basketball is in great shape in terms
of the overall talent in the sport, but bad shape
in terms of our knowledge of these players. The fact
the fact that I have to explain to you who
have these players are only proves my point that they're
coming out to Really college should be used only two
to build your your game, but build your brand. But
(06:41):
we're hurting both games by doing so. Anyway, Doug gotlip
show here on Fox Sports Radio. Jason McIntire's upcoming. I'm
fired up. I like NBA drafts. I like the idea.
Last year there was Jimmy Butler was trade on Draft Day.
It does feel like there'll be a big trade um
during the NBA Draft, whether it's Kemba Walker who's been
rumored to be in deals, was the Bulls, was the Clippers?
(07:05):
Remember there's a big you know, there's the big trade
with Chris Paul last year around draft time, there's going
to be Chandler Parsons probably gonna be moving. Anybody want
to swallow that Chandler Parsons pill. Well, that's a lot
Chandler Parsons pill. Anybody swallows that Chandler Parsons pill could
get the number four pick in the NBA draft. And
(07:28):
then of course there's trader Danny Ainge, who you should
never pick up the phone for, Like Danny angel Is,
one of those got you again right last year was
Mark ll Folts You like, man, they got the number
one pick and they're trading out of it. To think
Jason K Tatum and what are they doing? We go
(07:49):
back and look at his trade history, look at what
he did with Kobe Altman. You can sit there and say, hey,
Kyrie Irving didn't play late in the year, and Kyrie
Irving might might have a degenerative need he right, but
if he's healthy, he's one of the top ten players
in the NBA. And they gave away Isaiah Thomas, who
no one wants because he's got a degenerative hip problem
(08:11):
and had to go back and have surgery. It was
three for one and the top pick ended up becoming
the number eight overall pick, which will get the Calves
a nice player. But you trade back for if and
there's no chance that a pick becomes a Kyrie Irving
does it. So I'm fascinated with tonight's NBA draft to
see what happens. John Carlos Stanton had his first John
(08:34):
Carlos Stanton walk off moment. We do have some NFL
news to share with you, um, including the player's coalition
writing an op ed piece to Donald Trump. What I
think that does to help or hurt their position? But
coming up next, Jason McIntyre. Protecting your home home team

(09:23):
for ESPN for ten years. A matter of fact, that
was this was my breakthrough international radio. Was the two
thousand three NBA draft New York City and I was
basically brought in because uh, I knew everybody five through
sixty and number two Darko militych I had played against,
(09:45):
and because there was no spot for me on TV,
I got a chance to do the draft on radio.
That's the true that's a true story. Um. I'll share
with you kind of the complete context of that story
and how that led me to be who I am
today and a guy who loves the NBA draft, loves
college hoop, does a mock draft. Even though some of
(10:06):
those some of that stuff I think is off, It's okay.
He's got a great and informed opinion. Jason mcindore part

on Fox Sports Radio tonight. Catch Chris bruss Art, NBA Champion,
Karen Butler, our next Guess Jason McIntyre. Throughout the entire
first round the draft, beginning at seven Eastern time. In
addition to the latest Lebron and Kauai rumors, they'll have
predictions and analysis of all thirty picks in the first round.
(11:55):
That's tonight, Chris Broussard, Karan Butler, Jason McIntyre, seventy Stern,
right here on Fox Sports Radio, Stull got live show
and let's welcome in Jason McIntyre. Jason, here's the story. Okay,
this is the honest and goodness story. So to just
fifteen years ago, two thousand three. Um, I was a
(12:17):
late addition to the ESPN Radio Draft broadcast. Jim Durham
now who has now passed great long time boys in
the NBA was the host. Fred Carter and Kevin Lockery
were the other two analyst. And I was brought in
because I knew the international guys that actually played internationally
against Darko Milicitch, against Boris DL, Michael Pietruce, Andre Cairo,
(12:40):
Linko and I covered college in high school basketball, and um,
you know, once they got once they got to Chris Bosh,
they really you know, those weren't guys that they knew.
It's the fifteen year anniversary of it. This is your
this is your first right, You've been doing this for
a long time since it started, the big lead. You
gotta be excited. Yeah, stoked, man, I mean I I
love the NBA Draft at this hour, you know, all
(13:02):
the college basketball games, even though you know, dug, in
our industry, college hoops is kind of like it's fading
a little bit, don't you feel like it's become mostly
a one month sport. But you and I are like
geeks about it. I mean, you obviously played, and I, like,
I was in a college basketball fantasy league dude for
like a decade where your draft keepers and they stick
with you for three or four years, you know. So
(13:22):
like I'm all into this, and like, listen, I love
DeAndre Ayton as much as the next guy, but I
watched him plenty. You know, just crush these pack pack
twelve jokers. I'm telling you, man, I would go Luca
don Chet right out of the gate. I'd take him first.
Well you know his his his coach for his national
team is now the head coach of the Phoenix Suns.
I would take Marvin Bagley first, I would take I
(13:45):
would take Colin Sexton second. It is a guard dominant league,
I think, yeah, wow, let's back up now, Sacramento. Now,
now look, Sacramento doesn't need that Sacramento would take. If
I was Sacramento, I'd probably take Don Chick second, because
Acomeno has they drafted Deer and it would it would
tell you that Dear and Fox is good enough. Now, look,
Dear and Fox might not be good enough. Um, but
(14:07):
I think you could take Don Check and get away
with it in Sacramento, whereas you couldn't take a call
in Section A point guard two years a row. But
if again, if I'm just going based upon how I
think they'll translate to the NBA, it's become a guard dominantly.
You gotta be able to play both ends. You gotta
have a burst of speed, you gotta have leadership capabilities.
I like Don Check, I just don't think he's a
star caliber athlete in the NBA. Well, there's a lot
(14:29):
of stuff there. Let's let me start here. So you
said guard dominantly, I would agree point guards are important.
But my opinion, I think it's kind of become a
wing lead here in the last couple of years. It's
transition to you've got to be able to play both ways, right,
You've got to play on the wing. In the Houston
Rockets push the Warriors to seven, how not with Clint
Capella on the floor, but with Ariza Tucker, Eric Gordon,
(14:51):
guys who can defend on the perimeter, on the switches.
Because that's all it is now you see the playoffs,
it's just taken a role. Let's match up hunt, let's
find the guy you can take advantage of. And there
weren't really any of those with the Rockets. And then
of course Chris Paul gets hurt and you know, kind
of fell apart. But as thought, that's why I wouldn't
put Colin sext In that high. I know, donche there's questions. Uh,
somebody told me this week that that it feels like
(15:13):
he's like a mid major athlete, like he couldn't go
in the A c C and play with those athletes.
But but then Doug's playing in the second best basketball
division in the world overseas. Now he goes he's going
to international play against Sportzingis, He's going head to head
with a lot of guys who are in the NBA. Now,
you know, this guy played alongside Gore on dragic, Like,
(15:36):
I just feel like don can come in and be
a factor immediately. If you said to me, this would
be my statement on Don Check Jason McIntyre archists. If
you said to me this on Don Check, Hey, he's
he's the guy you can count on most to be
a solid pro. I would agree with you, like I,
you know what, he's going to be a good Why
because he's a good pro now in Europe and he's
(15:56):
only going to get better. If you told me that
we're this is flora and ceiling. His floor is higher
than some of the Michael Porters with the back and
some of the personality quirks, than the Trey Young's of
the world, or than maybe even DeAndre Atan who plays
at a position which is being marginalized. That I agree
with you. I think his ceiling isn't as high as
(16:18):
some of the other players. So let me let me
ask this. This is because you know, and again I
don't know if this is spilling too many beans, but I,
you know, been been close to some people that are
uh you know, in the l A facility, seeing a
lot of these guys work out, and I'm hearing some
stuff about Marvin Badley, like on the Duke campus. All
the players lived together except for Marvin Bagley. He wasn't
(16:40):
all into the team the way a lot of the
other guys were. Now, I don't know what that says
about him, you know, in the bigger his parents, his
parents moved to Durham. It should be should be pointed out.
But yeah, go ahead, that's fair. But at the same time,
this is a guy who when you ask the Duke
players who's as a better process, would you rather have
Carter or Bagley? They're almost unanimously saying Wendell Carter. And again,
(17:03):
I don't think that's not knock on Bagley. It's just
you know, way Doug. For me, it feels like Bagley
is a super talented offensive player, but you know he's
excited to go to Sacramento. He's the only guy who
will really work out for them. They couldn't get Luca
in the building. Uh mo, Bamba wants nothing to do.
He's not sending his medicals to sacar Like. Something seems
(17:25):
off about Bagley, And personally I wouldn't take him one
or two. I like other guys in say Jason McIntyre
joining us on the Doug Gotlip Show who's the big
name who gets traded tonight? Um? Can I can? I?
Can I get away with saying Kai? Or is there
just no shot at that? It stuck me as odd
that the day after the reported uh meeting between Pop
(17:51):
and Kauai, the Lakers are shifting around to make a
move to get an extra second round draft pick. And
if you're looking at it big picture, you know, listen,
we've seen Darryl Morey work wonders, moved mountains with a
bunch of second round draft picks. Again, I don't know
that the Lakers are doing that, but this is their shot.
You get Kauai in the building. Job if you're able
to pull it off. And I know there's stuff about
(18:12):
Papovich doesn't want anything to do with Londo. If you
can get Kauai in the building, you know, Clippers can
kiss Lebron goodbye. Okay, all the pipe teams about lebrono Boston,
all that stuff. He's going to be going to l
A if they get Kauai tonight. What about the Boston Celtics.
There's a lot of rumors that they're uh that they
want to make a move. Some think they want to
trade up to getting the top five of the NBA draft.
(18:35):
Some people, of course, think they want to draft Kauai Leonard.
What do you think happens with the Celtics that Mike
Guess has been sad Pat. I know Danny Ainge is
a riverboat gambler and he likes to do some wacky
things that usually work in his favorite Jason Tatum deal
last year. Um, but I just have to say they
have not seen Hayward, Kyrie Tatum, Jalen Brown all together.
(18:55):
And I just wonder if you make a move to
try to get Kauai, you make a move up for
Amba and you have to part with one of those
four guys who I really like a lot. If you
could get rid of Marcus Smart and Rose here, that's
another story. But if you've got to part with one
of those core four, I just wonder about the chemistry
and you're constantly tinkering. At some point you gotta go
with what got you there, right. At some point, Aine
(19:16):
has to stand pat and be like, these are our guys,
let's make it happen. Well. It's interesting because he stood
pat last year and then got criticized for not making
any not making any moves even after they landed Gordon
Hayward and then all of a sudden he gets Kyrie
Irving and now you're like, okay, well, now he's got
to make another move. Yeah. I remember people were upset
(19:37):
in Boston that he passed on Paul George. Jimmy Butler
kind of worked out in his favor. Uh. And the
NBA is so crazy. You know, we don't know who
could magically appear, Who's going to hold their franchise hostage.
You'd be like, I want out, I'm done here. I mean,
Anthony Davis won around in the playoffs, You've got several
years left on his contract, a thousand percent certain he's
not going to go to manage it, and being like,
(19:57):
hey guys, shoot me out of town. I'm done here.
I I just you just don't know in the NBA
right now, That's what's so crazy about it. Jason McIntyre
joining us on the Doug Otlip Show part of our
draft coverage gets on a way seven o'clock Eastern time.
Christopas Sard and Karen Butler as well will join him
for the entirety of the first round to talk all
things NBA, and of course they will cover every pick
of the NBA draft. If you were to tell me
(20:20):
there's a sleeper in the draft, who is it? Um
sleeper is not remember a sleeper? Remember a sleeper to you?
He doesn't. It's a sleeper to other people. Right Like
if I say, if I was to say Kevin Knox,
I think I don't think. I think that would be
a sleeper to people. Even though he's climbing up into
the into the top ten, I'll go with the guy
(20:42):
outside of the top twenty. I'm gonna go and everybody
knows him. But the guys who stick around college for
a few years and you know, when they come to
draft time, it's like, oh, I don't don't want anything
to do with this guy. We've seen his body of work.
Can he get much better? The guy I like is
a sleeper. Grace and Allen. I know he had the
issues tripping people, but this is a guy who is
a tremendous shooter. He has destroyed in these workouts out
(21:04):
here in l A. He's just lighting it up. I
think he can contribute almost immediately, honestly as a six
or seventh guy, and he's gonna be going late in
the first round to a good team I mean again,
I don't know that the Warriors would take him if
he's gonna be there, But you're telling me Grayson Allen
couldn't contribute off the Warriors bench in the same vein
of like a Quinn Cook, a Patrick Recall. I love
(21:25):
Grayson Allen late first round. I like Grayson Allen as well.
I think end of the first round a lot of
people like him. There's Amari Spellman. Villanova is a little
bit younger, not as refined, but also could be a
stretch five. Moe Wagner, the kid from Michigan, who of
course led them to the final four. I think again,
stretch five who can guard in the post. Maybe not
as good defensively as what some other five men could be,
(21:47):
but I do think that you know, look, you either
had to be able to shoot or really defend the
rim as as a big guy, and if you can
do both, now you're super super valuable. Jason McIntyre is
our is our guest, Um, what do you what are
your honest thoughts on Lebron right? Like if you were
to if I was to ask you right now, Lebron
James first game of the season playing where with whom
(22:09):
in l A with Paul George. That would be my
I've been I'm stuck with it for eleven months. You know, listen, Doug,
you and I are on that small uh Kevin Durant
is the best player at the NBA island. You know,
we don't have a lot of friends over on that island.
But you know, listen, two finals MVPs Durant to my
in my opinion, has proven us right. I'm also with
the opinion Lebron's best chance at catching Uh Jordans not
(22:31):
with six rings, but by resuscitating the greatest franchise in
NBA history of the Lakers, okay, which Kobe left in
tatters when he demanded a ton of money. Lebron can
elevate the Lakers, take down the dynasty that is the Warriors,
and win a ring. I don't know how that doesn't
put him over Michael Jordan. I think that's the best
avenue for Lebron. He could bring a friend, which is
(22:52):
what he loves to do everywhere he goes, whether it's
Miami back to Cleveland. He could bring Paul George. They
don't have the mortgage assets for him. And listen, I
want Lonzo out of Town as much as the next guy.
But when you look at that the Wings there, Kuzma, Ingram,
Josh Hart, those are all two way players, like good
young players. I think that's a core that can take
down the Warriors. So I'm going with Lebron in l
A on opening night. I'm fascinated to see what the
(23:15):
Warriors do because I do think their bench isn't nearly
what it has been. Uh, they're gonna have to rework
some things. They're trying to kind of keep the Hampton
five together. And I will also say that if Lebron
goes to a new team, he's gonna have to have
the expectations that it's gonna be year two that he
really makes his move. Remember your one didn't win in Miami.
Year one didn't win it. Some of that was injury
(23:36):
in Cleveland. So it's it's got to be a two
year plan. And I think sticking with those younger players,
Like what's gonna be interesting to see is, look, they
get Kauai and they gotta get rid of some of
these young guys. I guess you swallow Harden, you do it.
But otherwise, if you can keep those core young guys
in bag Um I just, uh intact, I think you're
(23:57):
you're one year away from really because in one or
than Draymond's contract is up, Clay Thompson's contract is up.
In one year, Lebron James will have fully kind of
understood how to play with these guys. Bonzo would be
in year three, Ingram in year four, Kuzma in year three.
I think that's the year in which they gotta show
being a second year. Huh are you going Lakers? Okay?
(24:21):
It is, it is, It's my, It's my. It's the
most likely. It's like a poorly kept secret. This kind
of feels like it's gonna work. I just don't know
if it's gonna be Paul George or Kauai or both.
That that part, I don't know, but I do think
that I do think that it will be. It will
be Lebron, Lebron and NELI. I like it. Doug on
(24:41):
the same side. Rare for us, you know, we usually disagree,
but I like it. Um Okay, so uh stug otlip
show here on Fox Sports Radio. Um, Kyrie, Kyrie Irving
is kind of a different sort of dude, right, have
a different sort of dude, And I've seen you tweet
about it. I've seen you write about it. I've heard
(25:03):
what you said about it that you think he wants
to be in New York next year, not this year,
the following year. Why yeah, I mean you look at
the guy. He he is a little different, as you said.
You know, there's a guy from Jersey. Um, he's he's
really wanted his own show. You know, he had the
show in Cleveland. Then Lebron came back, and you know,
he was unhappy even though they want a title. He's like,
(25:24):
I'm out of here. You know, it's Lebron's team. You know,
I want to I want to beat him out the door.
So then he goes to Boston and they really exceeded
expectations without him, and the whole story, the whole narrative is, well,
it's Brad Stevens team, and you know, here comes Jayson
Tatum and you know, oh yeah, they have Kyrie Irving. Also,
Iving is going to be a free Agent's gonna opt
(25:44):
out obviously and and have the chance next year to
go anywhere he wants. I think he's gonna want to
pick his own team, and he's gonna want to play
with someone who's kite with and we all know him
and Jimmy Butler are good friends dating back to the
Team USA days. They're both very Hollywood. You know, Jimmy
Butler hangs out with Mark Wahlberg. He's out here in
l A running the club scene in the summer. And
Kyrie Irving, as we know, had a movie coming out.
(26:04):
He's now magically right ahead of his movie dating this
chick who dated Justin Bieber. So it all adds up
to me if they want to be either in l
A or New York, those two as a team, and
the Knicks, because of their salary cap situation, can't afford
both the new the Brooklyn Nets based on that trade
yesterday for Dwight Howard now can afford to Max guys.
And I think Kyrie and Jimmy Butler in Brooklyn is
(26:26):
going to be a live option for those two next year.
I've heard about the Brooklyn thing for a long time. Okay,
let me explain to Houston's not not not Jimmy Butler
and Kyrie Irving. Okay, Brooklyn is not New York. Okay,
you have to go across a bridge. You have to
go across a bridge to get there. It's not that's
(26:47):
going going to Brooklyn is going to the Clippers. It's
the exact same thing, and you're the assertion that you're
making is, oh, it's somebody else. Like, Look, Kyrie Irving
would have to be the first point guard in an
be a history to be worse under Brad Stevens than
he was elsewhere whereas the opposite is true. You know,
I mean Terry Rogier was their fourth guard and he
(27:10):
performed better than that level in the playoffs. Why because
he's playing for Brad and the system is really good
for guards and lets them play. Kyrie was having a
great year, he had need problems, and he'll come back
into play with a great team and he'll be the
best player on that team. The idea that he's already
got mentally packed to go to the Clippers of the
East and that's the Brooklyn Nets, to me, is a
(27:33):
huge leap. There's lots of people who are friends with
the idea that, oh, he's out in l A all
the time. Guess who else is out in l A
in the summertime. Everybody Kevin Durrand has bought a house
in l A. Like every literally every NBA player spend
time spends time living or working out in Los Angeles,
So you have no proof. You have no proof, Senator MacInnis.
(27:55):
But I won't say this he walked away from Lebron Jings.
You don't think he walked away from Brad Stephens and
Gordon Hayward. I mean, come on, the guys, Kyrie Irving,
this is the dude who's pushing this. But why, but
why again? But why would he Why did he walk
away from Lebron James's It wasn't just that he wanted
his own show. It was that Lebron wasn't willing to
(28:16):
commit to staying so they couldn't get up. Paul George
is that Lebron ran the entire organization, so you never
felt like you had had to say in something. Kyrie
also very much a part of the Celtics. They're building
a roster that can win a championship for the next
five years if you keep everybody together. That's the way
to work. And so the idea that you're gonna do
(28:36):
that give it away to go to the Clippers of
the East and red completely rebuild it with the Brooklyn Nets,
I think is a huge lea you're taking before we
ever see this. But at the same time, let's let's
remind everybody when they were together in the playoffs. Remember
there was a practice the legendary story that Tyron Lou
tried to tell Kyrie something and Kyrie basically was not
(28:59):
listening to him and said, go tell Lebron it's his
team and just walked off the court. I'm telling you, man,
this guy really likes the idea of ownership. He doesn't
like answering to anybody, and and I can just see
things going sideways next year if he doesn't feel he's
in control. I like Kyrie Eving a lot. I got
a Kyrie Irving jersey. You know, I don't. I don't
mind have been in that. I'm a fan of his work.
(29:20):
I'll probably see Uncle Drew. It feels to me like
he wants to be the guy in control, and I
don't think that's the case in Boston. That's Jason McIntyre.
Check him out tonight in the NBA Draft couch for

I'm sure that's not gonna be the first time we're
gonna hear that today. But Argentina right now trailing on
their match to Croatia at the World Cup, in which
you can see on box it's one nothing Croatia in
(30:01):
the seventy ninth minute. Again, match well underway. I love,
I love, I love I love that you said one nothing?
Why do we have to do this? Why do we
have to cow to soccer guy and do the Oh?
I was gonna mix. Call it a telly. We don't
call it a lift, we don't call it a pitch.
It's a field, and one nothing is one nothing. I'm
(30:23):
with you. I like to I I like to mix
and match here and there, and hey, it's one zero,
one nothing, one nil. It's all the same to you
and I right, how about a one nothing? Guy? You know?
Do you know what the score is? Soccer guy? Good?
You know we we don't say Foyer, we say Fourier. Sorry,
that's what we do. That's who we are. We're not
ugly Americans. We're speaking in American just for you, Doug.
(30:44):
France top Peru one zilch today in Group C play
one zip. You can do that as well, France onto
the knockout stage. Peru has been eliminated dead mark in
Australia play to a one one draw. Earlier today, you
were just talking with Jason McIntyre previewing the NBA draft.
Of course our cover it starts at seven Eastern. Reports
from the ESPN C the Grizzlies are shopping the fourth
(31:05):
overall pick in a trade that would also have to
include Memphis forward Chandler Parsons and the almost fifty million
dollars left on the final two years of his deal.
Home run number nineteen on the season for Aaron Judge,
Yankees Lee the Mariners for three and the eighth inning
of the Bronx oh R Mookie Betts home run number
nineteen Red Sox taking it to the Twins. Right now,
(31:26):
it's eight nothing in the top of the eighth in
the Twin Cities and the Rockies a three one lead
on the Mets early in Denver, top of the second inning,
and finally at the Travelers Championship, Zack Johnson leads at
seven under par Berry Trot's the new head coach of
the Islanders. Oh Berry Trots, Oh Barry Trot's new coach?
Were good Berry Trots? Who's Berry Trots the head coach
(31:49):
of the former I knows? Do you have any idea
who Berry Trott's Berry Trot's came into your studio and
sat down next to you? By the way, Uh scoring update?
Do you want to give it a Should I give it?
Go ahead? Go right ahead? No, No, it's your job,
my job to react. Croatian just score of the eighty
first minute. They're up to zero on Argentina. Um, Messy's done? Right?
(32:13):
Is there? Is there any way you can They've got
They've got that time, they've got one point. There's a
match between Nigeria and Iceland tomorrow that could also play into,
um how the standings shake out. They would have to
beat Nigeria and then win on aggregate. Right, I don't
have the the the full did okay? So did what
(32:37):
happened when Croatia played Nigeria? That that's really the big question. Yea,
when you go back, go back through the score. I'll
go back through the scores here. But do we have
any soccer nicks? I believe Croatia want to zero in? Okay, yeah,
see I like this to nothing right now, it's there's
two Neil Ramos, No, it's nothing. It's still the same thing. Hey,
(32:59):
he's in Sherman Oaks, California, where we say to nothing
to nothing to nothing. Okay, so then um uh so
then Nigeria. Okay, so they basically they have to win
at least two to nothing if right, well, Iceland, Iceland
also played Croatia. What happened there? Go Aheadatia up coming? Yes, yes,
(33:20):
so some of no Iceland Nigeria is still upcoming. Yeah
that's but but there would be another match as well
that because Iceland has played Argentina and Icelin is gonna
play in Nigeria. Iceland and Croatia will play in their
final Group D match. Wow, but that would be very
um messy. Oh if we had Croatia and Iceland advancing.
(33:47):
I do like the Iceland thing, right, I love the
I love the chance. The Iceland thing is crazy. They
were good in the Euros last year as well. Who
are they in in college? Are they the Butler of
the Is that what they are there? The Butler of
of the World Cup? Our heads and go yeah Butler.
They haven't reached the final four yet, but remember Butler
(34:07):
used to be like perennial Sweet sixteen team, like come
out of nowhere. Plus they used to you know, it
feels like a bunch of white guys. I don't know, Mike,
Mike crazy to go to go with with Iceland is
officially Butler. No, that's I think that's because Butler went
so far. I think because just making it to the
final four of the Euros like they did, or their
quarterfinals whenever it was two years ago, that's still enough.
(34:31):
And they just have emerged on the scene. It's not
like they've hung around for like ten years and like
like some maybe countries have. Uh it's it's it's tough
to see messy come up short that see what I did?
Yes he's tall. Yeah, yes, yes, that was terrible. I'm sorry.
Ramost is laughing at that one. That one a lot
(34:54):
like h yeah, they woke up to Cars are a
lot like sports. You gotta have the right tools you

(36:07):
The game today. Doug is all right, Guess who the
Atlanta Hawks are reportedly leaning towards taking if he's available
at number three tonight. Michael Porter Jr. No multiple reports
saying yes, Luca don Chich would be the person that
there leaning towards that. That's if Marvin Bagley goes to
(36:32):
and DeAndre Ayton goes one. Um. Yeah, look I told
you before I like him. I like him a lot. Um.
I think he is Um. He's the guy who I
think has a has a chance to be just a
very very solid NBA player can come in and can
help right away and stabilize. Do I think he's a star. No,
(36:53):
But I don't think they're reaching And I think he's
already refined European basketball is you know, in terms of
ball movement and player movement is the NBA is kind
of morphing into that style. And you know Lloyd Pierce
who comes over from Philadelphia. I think the solid pick
that gives him a player who's ready to play right away.
I don't have any problem with that one. Guess who
(37:15):
doug could be drafted tonight but sit out the entire
NBA season. Oh, that would be Michael Porter Jr. That
is correct. USA Today's Jeff Zille gets his teams are
likely going to be super cautious with Porter, and some
teams may consider resting him for the entire season. Um,
this gives me a lot of pause because he missed
(37:36):
most of this season with injury. Right, this is not
like a summer league injury. And it's also he's not
a player who you need to shut down normally. But
when you're back in your hip, here's what NBA people
will tell you, and frankly, the NFL people will say
the same. No one likes when he hurt your knee,
with the exception of a debilitating knee injury where it's
(37:57):
like Teddy Bridgewater and everything collapses like a towny cell.
Guys come back from tor meniscus. Guys come back from
hips back. Feet far more difficult to fix. Feet. You've
got hundreds of bones in there, and when one thing
goes wrong a lot of times it can become a
house of cards. Your hip, your back, those are things
(38:18):
that you simply cannot move or rehab um you know
at all, You like, you can't move for weeks, even
even scopes become really problematic. Those those are just very
difficult things to fix. And that's what's bothering Michael Porter Jr.
He's got some personality quirks would drive me away a
little bit. Super talented kid. Um. Yeah, this one would
(38:41):
give me a pause. If there's a guy who's gonna
slip and it's not because of his basketball talent and
he has no like not a gangbanger like this is
a good uh you know, it's no off the court
problems in terms of that at all. It would be
Michael Porter Jr. And the injuries of the main reason
why guests who dug Former NFL coach and currents THEFL
coach June Jones thinks should be in the NFL. I
(39:04):
read this Johnny Manzel. Yeah, that is correct, Jones says,
or has Manzel right now is a backup in Hamilton's
says it's likely gonna take him two years to get
back into the National Football League. But by the way
he sees the field and how he's been so far
and that includes being humble, Jones says, Manzel should be
in the NFL. Yeah. Well, let let's see if he
(39:24):
can win his starting job first, right, otherwise he's just
slips service. Oh he should start for you you know.
That's like, uh, that's like Rodney Dangerfield when he puts
on that hat when he's in the in Caddyshack. You know,
when you get a free bowl of soup, when you
buy this hat. You know, Oh but it looks good
on you, That's what he's saying. He's saying, Johnny Manzel
looked cleart. You like, why isn't he shouting quarterback? Like, well,
(39:45):
it's gonna take a little bit of time. You said
he can start in the NFL, but he can't start
in the CFL. That makes no sense. Guess who just
lost at the World Cup. Yeah, yeah, three mile Croatia
adding a late goal. So Argentina not with their backs
against the wall. Alright, Moving on, guests, Who was an
NFL starting quarterback that could be facing a suspension to
(40:07):
start the season? Jamis Winston. Yeah, and he has Pianella.
Hasset reports is those close to Winston are expecting a
suspension in the one game to three game range after
allegedly groping an uber driver. In The report says, even
though Winston was never charged, he may not have reported
the allegation to the NFL in a timely matter. Yeah,
(40:29):
like the idea, Well, he didn't report it to the NFL,
so we're gonna suspend him. I don't I don't see it.
I know it was a not read it? What was
the other Rhodo Rhodo World, Yeah, Rhodo World report. I
just I feel like I feel like you'd see the
NFL reporters already have this thing if it was a reality.
(40:53):
This is game time on the Duck Gottli Show. Cars
are a lot like sports. You gotta have the right
tools you want to go a far. Luckily, auto Zone
is a Freelana tool program with over a hundred specially
tools to get the job done right. Stopping a day
depositis required, getting the zone auto Zone all right? By
the World Cup thing, that's a bummer from Argentina. But
how impressive is Croatia? The Croatian's got dudes? Man? Why
(41:18):
is it? Why aren't we talking about Croatians? That we're
talking about Argentina? Lincoln Riley and joined us. Next hour,
we'll ask him about his new contract, lasting about his
first year. We'll last about Baker Mayfield. We got a lot,
and we'll ask about Kyler Murray was drafted, gonna make
a bunch of money major League Baseball. But up next,
the Calves are doing the right thing by not really
doing anything. That's next to the Doug gotlip show, What Up,
(41:42):
Doug Gottlieb Show, Fox Sports Radio, stuff happening with the NBA,
stuff happening in the World Cup. Let me quickly read
you a couple of tweets. One was that the Lakers
have reached out to the Spurrs and said, hey, well
may worry it just wants you know, We're interested. Ramona
(42:04):
Shelburne just tweeted. Within the last week, the Lakers contacted
the Spurs to discuss the Quieliner trade. As one source
put it, they basically shut the door on us um
Adrian Wardanowski Woad who now works for ESPNS. This is
really weird, right because Woad used to be the one
who would give us the picks before we had the picks,
(42:24):
so there's no reason to watch the picks. Is now
giving us the picks before we watched him break down
the picks. Uh. He has the top six picks taking shape,
DeAndre and Marvin Bagley, Luka Don Chick, Jaren Jackson Um Jr.
At that number four, the Mavericks at number five, with
(42:46):
Mo Bamba number six. Trey Young going to the Orlando
Magic or len Do Magic anyway, So woe was dropping
woag bombs which may hurt his own own network, but
that's regardless, we end up benefiting from it. You can
hear around one in its entirety, all the breakdown you
want right here on Fox Sports Radio starting at seven o'clock. So,
(43:10):
by the way, he has Jaren Jackson at four and
he has no team listed next to it. Have you
noticed that when Ryan Music with with the tweet? Possible
it's possible that he did that out of a mistake
in which he would come back and fix the tweet,
or it's possible that that that pick is very much
in play. I did not notice that initially. One Dan
(43:32):
buyer actually pointed that out to me, so before you
had said it, I was made aware of it by Dan. Okay.
Number four is that's the Memphis Grizzlies, And this is
part of the deal with the Memphis Grizzlies is Memphis
may well make the pick, and it will be a
pick for somebody else, right for Obama. Like, look, you
want Obama, that's cool, you gotta take Chandler Parsons oft
(43:55):
injured huge contract if you want it. Which you haven't
heard is the Cleveland Cavaliers looking to package Kevin Love
or package anything else. They have her package expiring contracts
with their number eight pick to move up or to
get a player. You notice that, if you noticed, there
has been no chatter out of Cleveland about that sort
(44:15):
of stuff. Do you know why that is? That's because
Cleveland he's doing the right thing, even if it's the
hard thing. You think your girl is gonna leave you,
You're get in the sense that she's gonna call it off.
(44:36):
What do you do, right, You've been together for four years.
You just think she's not feeling it anymore. Just do
you go do the hail Mary and ask her to
marry you? Do you go get a ring? Even though
you're like, yeah, we've been fighting a lot more, let's
plan a trip. One of the one of the biggest
(44:56):
mistakes that married couples make, or just couples make, is
in an effort to try and fix things. Do you
know what they do? Ramist do what they do an
effort to try and fix things in a long, long
time relationship. I don't let's have another kid. I'm not
I'm not laughing at all. People will do that the music.
I'm just telling you, like, if when they try to
(45:18):
have another kid, that'll fix things. Right, But all a
kid does is not sleep. All the kid does is
make the things that you didn't. Well, he's a great dad,
he can be. She's a great mom, she can be.
They're not a great couple. Still, people will do this,
(45:40):
or they'll buy a dog. Right if they already have
kids and you decide to not even maybe you had
the little snip snip, they'll buy a dog. You know what,
it'll bring the kids close to the family, closer. It
doesn't now of a sudden, the dog gets caught in
the middle. You're trying to have another kid, the kid
gets or if it's a relationship that has and in marriage,
the guy be like, you know what, I'm just gonna
(46:01):
ask her to marry her, Like like, that's gonna and
that will backfire. Remember last time around, Cleveland had Mike
Brown as their coach. They won sixty one games in
the regular season. They made a bunch of moves to
try and keep in there, including bringing in Shaquille O'Neil.
Do you remember that they lose in the Eastern Conference
finals and they fired Mike Brown. That'll do it. That'll
(46:24):
show Lebron we're serious about making changes around here. And
what did Lebron do here gone. Having a kid doesn't
fix the relationship, Buying a dog doesn't fix a family,
and putting a wedding ring on her family on her
finger is not going to make her love you more
or more truly. If Lebron James is leaving, he's leaving.
(46:48):
If he's staying, he's staying. But for the future of
the franchise, the best thing you can do is, let's
go draft the best player available at eight. Let's see
what happens with Lebron. If he leaves and we can
do a sign in trade, great, get something back that
we want in return. Otherwise we're gonna have a massive spat,
(47:11):
a massive batch of cap space, and we'll figure that
out when the time comes. If she's gonna leave, putting
a ring on her finger is only going to delay that.
If you're going to get a divorce, having a kid
is only going to delay that and, by the way,
make it more expensive. By the way, did you see
(47:34):
what the argentinean goaltender did? Netminder? Did you see? Oh?
Did you did you see what happened? Um? In? The
Messy's teammates messed it up right? Like basically they're they're
their goaltender, they're goalie. Did exactly did pull the j R.
(48:00):
Smith by or have you seen the play yet? It
was the first goal of the day. When he tried
to clear it ball, the ball comes running rolling back
to him. There's a Croatian player standing I don't know,
ten yards from him, and he just kind of tried
to pooch it over over the Croatian player's head. Instead,
(48:21):
he pooched it right to the Croatian player who kicked
it into the net. He Jr. J R. Smith did it?
Was yes, John Ramos. I was just gonna say that
I was telling Ryan and that, um well, and you're
as a coach would probably say this as well. You
(48:41):
never want to beat yourself, right, You don't want your
team if another team beat you, But you don't want
to go out there, you know, turn the ball over,
make mistakes that cost you the game for yourself let
the other team beat you. That right, there is sure
something Bessie would be really really perturbed about his stupid
mistakes that cost your team games. I wouldn't say that
the goalie maybe knew that they were tied though, and
(49:03):
Jared Smith in the score fair point fair point. I mean,
that's one of the worst place I've ever seen in uh,
but I do wonder why it doesn't happen more often.
You know, they kick it back to the the goalie. Okay,
So here's the way it stands right now, Argentinas oh
(49:23):
one and one, Nigeria is as only has losses, and
Iceland of course tied Argentina and has one point. So
there's still a lot of ball game left. But remember
Argentina is also negative three because they lost three nothing.
That's even more damaging that they gave up that final goal,
(49:43):
because if all things are equal, it comes down, uh
to the to the goal to the gold disparity right anyway, Um,
So that's my thing on Cleveland, Like I think, sometimes
the best thing to do is nothing. This happens with houses.
Happens with houses. Like you're trying to sell your house,
(50:06):
and look, if you want to paint the inside, you
can paint the inside. That might lighten it up. But
the idea of doing construction before you're gonna sell the house,
all you're doing is putting more cost on it and
lessening your profit or if you're gonna lose money in
the house, making your loss even more, if somebody's gonna
buy your house and redo your house, they're gonna want
(50:27):
to redo it in their own vision. Unless you're gonna
redo the entire thing. That's one thing. But you're gonna
do just like small jobs, like you know, we just
need to redo this bathroom. Don't do it. Don't redo
the bathroom. Somebody's gonna buy your house, let them redo
the bathroom. If you're gonna if if Lebron James gonna
walk out the door, we'll figure it out that it
(50:50):
doesn't make it better, It actually makes it worse. And
so Kobe Altman, for all his youth, all is inexperience
and the fact that he did a decent job, it
really got a housed in both of these trades that
they've made. Regarding Kara Kyrie Irving, I think that this
is the smart thing, the smart play. Do nothing. Draft
(51:10):
a really good player and figure out how much cash
space you have before you get your next player, whether
he stays or whether he goes. You gotta figure out
life after Lebron. You've been dealing with this, hey, we
gotta figure out if he stays. Like and and look,
the argument to anyone who says well, that will only
(51:30):
show that they're not doing enough to keep Lebron James.
That's not true. Look, you can take shots all you
want at what they've been able to do. They spent
the most money in the NBA the past three years.
And oh yeah, by the way, fault the teammates and
the coaching staff all you want. They did, in fact
make it to the NBA Finals, didn't They was most
(51:52):
of that Lebron James on the court. Sure, But if
that was their goal, it was mission accomplished. An espe actually,
considering they lost Kyrie Irving in mind and spirit and
then eventually traded him away, I kind of think that's
a win. From Dave McManaman, who covers the team for ESPN,
the Cavaliers are not actively shopping Kevin Love heading into
(52:15):
Thursday's NBA Draft, multiple sources told ESPN. Furthermore, regardless of
what decision Lebron James makes about his future in Cleveland,
the Calves have interest in keeping Love next season, sources said.
In other words, we're not gonna have another kid just
to say the marriage. We're gonna make some dramatic change.
We are who we are. You want to stay with us? Awesome.
(52:37):
Let's figure out. I may to make it work, but
if you're gonna leave, we don't need to make some
colossal change on the team that went to the NBA Finals.

Doug gotlub Show, Fox Sports Radio, Hope you're having a
great day man. Earlier today, Baker may Field was on
the Herd. I thought there was some fascinating, fascinating stuff.
We'll get to it with Lincoln Riley, head coach of
(55:07):
the University of Oklahoma. Momentarily, Um, I thought that I
thought that Baker gave it back to Colin pretty good. Um.
But I thought it was an you know, look, Baker
was really prepared for the interview, and he purpored himself well,
and he showed that he got a little bit of
that fighting spirit that he's not willing to let himself
(55:29):
be cast in a light that he doesn't feel to
be accurate. So I like my my issue with with
Baker has only been I do think there's a point
to which he has all the intangibles in the world, um,
but there's a certain tant needed need for tangibles, not
just intangibles. So and look, let's not act like Baker is.
(55:53):
Though I don't like false humility, I do like some humility.
I didn't love the idea that that San Diego want
to meet or La excuse me, the Chargers want to
meet with him, and he blew off their playbook, which
tells anybody that the Chargers couldn't draft him. I can't
draft a guy who tells everybody not only did I
(56:14):
not look at the playbook, but I'm gonna tell Sports
Illustrated I didn't look at the playbook. Can I ask you,
guys a question that I don't know the answer to.
Buyer this is for you. I'll get I'll get to
that in a second. About the Argentina thing, I just
don't know enough about it. Um Lincoln Rile is the
head coach of Oklahoma. He was just awarded a contract extension,
(56:37):
a little bump in pay after one year and all
they did was win a Big Twelve title, go to
the National semi finals, and win a High Spoo Trophy
for his quarterback. He's o US head coach. He joins us, Uh, Lincoln,
how are you? I'm great dog? How you doing good man?
What's it? What's it mean to you? That? Jokes tigleone
who originally believed in you, said, you know what you're doing,
(56:58):
such a good job, let's get you bump after you one.
That means a lot, you know. I think in any
any business, anything that we do in life, to have
people that that support you that uh, you know, it
makes you feel wanted and appreciate it for for what
you've done. Give you some security which is a little
you know, a little bit tougher to get in this
business maybe than some others. Um, yeah, it means a
(57:20):
great deal. I know they you know, they've always been
very proactive with us, very fair. Um, we've been lucky
to have some good success and uh and Oklahoma has
been been great to us. So yeah, I think it
just sends a message that did a lot of great
things that have been happening and uh and hopefully the
best is yet to come. All right, tell me something
that you learned from being a head coach that you
(57:41):
didn't know, like you know, you think you know because
you're right there next to a couple of really good
guys in your last two jobs. But now you're like, well,
I hadn't. I had no idea, you know, probably just
how much of it really is is managing people, um,
you know, and how how important that is. Uh, there's
just so much that go is into that on a
day to day basis, and uh, you know, you when
(58:03):
you're lucky like we are to have as many great
people in this program as we do. I think it's
just about you know, setting the direction and then and
then doing your best to manage those people and let
them do what they do best and then and then
you can turn out a really great product on the field,
you know, which we've been able to do. But yeah,
there's uh, you know, there's so much that goes into
it at this level, you know. And then when yours
(58:24):
involved on the on the football side of it, Uh,
you know as I am that you gotta have a
lot of great people around us. So we've been very
blessed in that regard. How often you get home to
Texas not much, not as much as I should honestly,
probably with it being that close, I'm probably they're recruiting
more than I'm actually there, you know, going home, but
probably twice a year right now, Well, I mentioned it
(58:47):
because you picked up this Bob Stoove's Ohio accent during
your time, and I just wonder when they go home,
they're like, dude, wait, wait, what happened? Actually it's maybe
all you you grow up in Texas and then you
you get out to the east coast, North Carolina and
then back here and yeah, it's my Actually maybe doesn't
know doesn't know where it's at right now. No. I mean, like, listen,
(59:08):
well we all like you. You get a bit, you
get two stoops boys that you're working with, you know,
the last couple of years, and you're like, what, I
guess this is how everybody talks. And you pick up
patterns of speech from the people around you, right, That's
how like accents are formed. And so I just I
just wonder if when you go back home they're like,
they think you used to y'all, you used to y'all everything,
(59:28):
and now you don't y'all anything. I don't know what's
what's wrong with me? I need to go spend some
more time back home. I think that's that's accurate. How
do you think Baker did with cal here today? You know,
I didn't see it. A couple of the guys told
me that he did pretty well. So you Baker's not
the Baker's pretty sharp, you know. So he's not gonna
and he's definitely not gonna back down. That's not his. Uh,
(59:49):
that's not his and moo. So I'm sure I'm sure
he kept I'm sure he kept calling on his toes
right here, here's here's here's Baker earlier today with Colin
learning on learning from his mistakes. My mistakes are are
not things that need to be a franchise quarterback, but
within football there's a lot of trash talk, a lot
of stuff that has not been made aware to everybody. Yeah,
(01:00:10):
there was mistakes, but I've definitely learned from it. I
wouldn't a franchise quarterback then. I'm hoping it would be
one in the future and I can learn from my
mistakes and do that. Do do you think do you
think it's it's legitimate that he has evolved and learned
from any of the missteps. Was the cross grab of
the flant, the flag planting, that's some deemed to be mistakes. Yeah, No,
(01:00:31):
I think he definitely has. I wouldn't say that the
flag planning was one, but you know, he's uh, yeah,
there's some of the mistakes that he's made. I mean,
I think the first thing was he owned up to
him in the beginning, which a lot of guys, you know,
that's that's difficult for them to do, especially on such
a public stage. Uh, you know that that has happened
on And yeah, I definitely would just day to day
(01:00:52):
dealing with him, knowing him like I do. I think
he's absolutely made progress. Is he perfect? No? Uh? Is Uh?
Does he still have some growing to do, of course
he does, But I think he's shown that he's he's
on the right track. Um, you know that he's learning
from his mistakes, not making the same ones over and
over again. So uh, And for him, it's a little
bit of a balance of some of the things that
(01:01:13):
maybe have caused some of those mistakes are also what
what makes him great. And so I think he's smart
enough to realize that. He Yes, you want to grow
and mature and continue to get better, but you don't
want to take away the thing that really separates you
as well. And so I think he's learning the balance
those Yeah, you gotta balance it, you know, I mean,
(01:01:34):
you see, I mean, all the great ones you see
have this that intense burning desire uh, And I think guys,
as they've gotten older, I've learned to manage it better
and when to use it, when not to not let
it get you in trouble, but also let it, let
it allow you to play at the highest level possible. Yeah,
that's that's but that's the hard part, right, Like how
do I how do I keep that edge and yet
(01:01:54):
don't let it? And I'm with you on the flag
flag the flag planting, like I'm even I'm even in
with you, Like on the crotch scrab you know, when
they didn't want to shake his hands and they're trying
to take shots at him, you know, talking a little
I'm okay with a little trash. Doc. I don't I've
never had a problem with any of that stuff with Baker.
My My big question is, Look, you've coached this offense,
(01:02:17):
and you've and this offense and the style of not
just the style of offense, but the way in which
you guys have kind of taken college football, especially in
Texas and an Oklahoma by storm has produced from case
Keenum to Menzel to to the ward kid that was
at Houston, Like, we've seen huge numbers from guys that
are really good quarterbacks and guys are just okay quarterbacks.
(01:02:40):
I guess my question becomes, you take him out of
that offense, you put him in the NFL. Um, how
hard is it going to be too evolved to being
an NFL quarterback making NFL throws with bigger players where
you aren't a step ahead of the defense. Yeah. I
think there's Uh. I think a couple of things. One,
the NFL offensively is more like college right now than
(01:03:00):
it's ever been, and I think in five years it's
gonna be even more that direction. I mean, that's definitely
the trend. You you look at the two teams that
I think resemble us the most offensively, that's New England
Patriots in the in the Philadelphia Eagles, And it's not
surprising to me that those are two teams, you know,
standing at the end of the year in the Super Bowl.
So I think it's I think the offenses are trending
more towards what's going on here, I think, which will
(01:03:22):
provide some familiarity. Um. And I think I think the
thing I would say for Baker is, you know, he
did it for three straight years. Uh. He did it
against elite competition. He did it in big games, and
he did it with a kind of a rotating cast,
a rotating supporting cast. We had a lot of guys,
you know, Stirling Shepherd, d D. Westbrook, you know, Joe
(01:03:43):
Mixon's mo JP Ryan that that we're here some of
the years and then gone, and he had to do
it with different guys each year and still did it
at a at a high level and was the most
efficient quarterback that's ever played in college. So, uh yeah,
I think the guys, you know, I think he's proven
he can do it, and I think the direction of
the NFL offensive as will will absolutely benefit him. Right now,
Lincoln Riley, Oklahoma's head football coach, joining us in the
(01:04:05):
Doug Gotlip Show. All right, let's talk about your current
number one quarterback. QB one is Kyler Murray. For people
who didn't follow his high school of career, it's about
as good at high school career as you're ever gonna have.
I think he played for his dad right at Alan
High School forty two and oh is the starting quarterback.
Uh then he goes to A and M and he
got to start early on, but then gets beaten out,
transfers to OU and he's sitting kind of waiting for
(01:04:27):
Baker Mayfield to to either leave early last year or
to graduate and play. So now he's gonna be a
starting quarterback. Then he goes and has a great breakthrough
baseball season, and and he's taken ninth overall in the
Major League Baseball Draft. Did you did you know going
into the Major League Baseball Draft he was gonna be
selected that high. Uh? Well, first off, he's not the
(01:04:49):
starter here yet. We got a heck of a competition
going on right now with Austin Kendall. So we'll we'll
see how that plays out. But colors, you know your
colors are. He's a It's an interesting story. Uh. We
knew coming into this, uh when when we first had
conversations about him coming to Oklahoma that the baseball was
going to be a factor. And so based on our
conversations before we ever stiff Foot on this campus, I
(01:05:11):
was very comfortable with the fact that he was gonna
play college football regardless of what happened with baseball, and
he and his family have stayed true to that. Yeah,
it's it's it's pretty amazing though. Really, you know, I
think a guy I think he practiced with our baseball
team like ten times this year, you know, and then
goes out and has a kind of year and shows
account of ability that make him a a top a
top ten pick in the in the Major League Baseball draft.
(01:05:33):
So it's it's a great story. It's it's it's very
impressive what he's been able to do on both um,
I think football wise, Uh, you know, he's really benefited
from being out the spotlight here, you know for the
last couple of years, you know, getting a chance to
watch Baker the way he prepared. I think for Kyler,
a chance to to grow up, to mature, to uh,
(01:05:54):
to really get himself ready to have a chance to
be a quarterback, a really good starting quarterback at this level. UM. So,
I just think the whole period of time has been
good for him. So he's in a good place right now.
And and uh here working out with our guys, and
like I said, we've got two really good ones between
him and Austin Kendall that are going to go at
it pretty good and and we'll see what We'll see
who's standing in the end. Okay, So listen, like you
(01:06:17):
recruited Austin out of Charlotte and um and so he's
going to be with the program um as well. But
you know, you feel like he's kind of more all in, Like,
does that that has to play a factor in who
you decide to play, doesn't it? I just don't look
at that way I look at it. You know, Austin
is absolutely all in. But I mean Kyler is too.
(01:06:38):
I mean, because I think a lot of guys, you know,
if they weren't all in, he would be full time
baseball right now. I mean, he's got, you know, obviously
a great opportunity there, and a lot of people would think, well,
why wouldn't you just go do that. You've got, you know,
a good chunk of money in the bank, a team
that's invested in you. Why wouldn't you just go ahead
and go get started and risk injury or whatever have you.
And uh, So I think that shows his commitment that
(01:07:00):
he's been willing to to put that on hold, that
he's been willing to go through the grind of trying
to play two sports. Wouldn't play him one as hard
as hell in its own uh And he's he's played two,
So I think they're both equally committed and so not
at the end of the day, it's gonna be about
us just being as good as we can this year,
and whoever helps us do that, that's that's who we'll play,
(01:07:20):
all right. I just want to make sure that wasn't
a that wasn't there wasn't something against the cheerleaders when
Austin had an errand passed the speed game and took
out that cheerleader. There's no previous relationship we need to
talk about, right. If it is, it's a very good accuracy,
but uh yeah, not yet. It was kind of a
while deal. We had a windy day and ball just
kind of took off, and uh yeah, she good things.
(01:07:41):
She was pretty tough. She hung in there, well she did.
She popped back up and she was cheering on the sideline.
Lincoln Riley, the head coach of Oklahoma, joining us in
Doug at last thing. And I think this is incredibly
important for football fans. Something you said earlier and I
was listening, you mentioned how NFL offenses are starting to
mirror some of these college offenses. Why has it taken
(01:08:04):
so long for this to happen? Like we saw Look,
we saw what they did in Houston when um they
put Deshaun Watson back there, they started running some zone
read letting him move around. Uh, they changed some of
that kind of the motion game stuff that that he
used in college. We saw with r G three. But
then then the Redskins tried to morph him into kind
of a classic pro style thrower. Why now is it
(01:08:28):
something that's accepted at the higher level. I think two reasons. Um.
I think a lot of times trends take time to
catch on. You know, I can remember fifteen years ago
and you know, we were at Texas Tech and we
had a pretty good run offensively. It's you know, I
was shocked all those years that people weren't trying to
hire more of our assistants and and that that the
(01:08:48):
thing wasn't taken off. And then finally somebody did it
and there was there was more success, and then it
just it blew up from there. And I think it's
been the same thing at the NFL level. I think
there's been a resistant to it, almost kind of not
not egotistical, it's not the right word, but hey, this
is how we've done in the NFL forever, so this
is just how we're gonna do it. And then I
(01:09:08):
think as some people have branched out and tried, and
those teams have been very successful if you've just seen
more and more start to go to it. And then
I think the other thing is with the with the
new hour rules, with the NFL players, the fact that
coaches can't have them up there all the time. There's
much more limited contact between coaches and players, um, which
is a lot closer to the model we have in college.
(01:09:30):
You only have so many hours and so many different
times of the year that you can work with them.
And so I think you've got to have a system
that allows you to be able to get that implemented
so guys can play well early and uh so, yeah,
those are two factors in my mind. Um Uh Lincoln,
I don't want to ask you about the Nike uniforms
because I don't know if you know this. I used
to do local radio in Oklahoma City and I remember
(01:09:53):
when Nebraska they just put a stripe in their pants
and fans up there. When crazy. But you guys have
switched over to these Nike unifor warms, you know, these
four kind of different looks, I mean, and and things
you didn't think you'd have to deal with. Um with
the new uniforms, have you started to get some calls
from some of the Blue Hair, some of the old
folks that that donated money for years, like, don't you
(01:10:13):
ever you tell those you tell those people in Niki
you ain't gonna change my uniforms. Have you gotten the
calls yet? You don't know, because I think they know
we're we're we're smart enough to understand we've got some
of the most iconic uniforms. So we're we're very conservative
as far as you know, change and will update of course,
but we're gonna we're gonna always stay with our traditional uniforms.
They're they're too good to need to change. But the
(01:10:34):
jump Man, you know, the whole Jordan brand has been
a special deal for us. It's it's it's very exclusive,
um and it's uh something that's you know, just very unique,
which we think our program is here too. So it's
been a great thing for our players, our recruits. I
think our friends have had fun with it, and uh,
it'll be a fun ride with with the Jordan brand. Yeah,
it should be really really cool. All right, Hey, thanks
(01:10:54):
so much for joining us. Congrats on the new deal.
We look forward to catching up with you once you
select the starting quarterback. Enjoy your summer, uh In Norman?

Let's get to Dan By or find out what else
is going on, dan go ahead. Yeah. NBA Draft coverage
starting at seven o'clock Eastern time on Fox Sports Radio
is Jason McIntire, Karan Butler, and Chris Bruce Shard will
have you covered for the entire first round, a round
that starts with Phoenix on the clock. Now, there's other
NBA news coming about Yahoo Sports reporting the Lakers did
reach out to the Spurs about Kawai Leonard. ESPN reports
(01:11:40):
that the Spurs let the Lakers know that they weren't
interested in talking at this time, so the conversation apparently
went pretty quickly. A report from ESPN says the Grizzlies
are shopping the fourth overall pick in a trade that
would also include Memphis forward Chandler Parsons. A shocker today
in Russia and the catch cover your out. It is
the top of the box. There's Croatia held it because
a ship instead of Siva Rocketsitch Rogittitch say come outside,
(01:12:05):
Rocketsha running away from Argentina. What a lot of performance.
Despair for Argentina and ecstasy for Croatia and Croatia rocket
titched past Argentina three zero on Fox. So Croatia winning
that matched group d Doug, this is the scenario for
(01:12:27):
Argentina where they could not be making it to the
knockout stage. Argentina's got Nigeria on Tuesday. Croatia will play Iceland. Now,
if Iceland defeats Nigeria tomorrow and then Iceland and Croatia
drawn their final match of the group stage, that means
Argentina would be knocked out. So yeah, I gotta do
it again. Gotta do it again. This is really fast
(01:12:47):
for me. So I know that you're sitting there driving
home and you're like, wait, go ahead, Okay, remember Messy
one of the three best players on Earth. Okay, really important,
go ahead. What what's the Iceland and Nigeria played tomorrow.
It's expected that Iceland would win that match, so if
Iceland wins that match and then Iceland and Croatia play
to a draw on the final day, there's nothing that
(01:13:10):
Argentina could do to make it to the knockout stage.
So they don't. There's the way that they would ever
want to would would ever be like a gentleman's agreement
to play for a draw. Um, yeah, Croatia is good,
like right like, so this is beyond Croatia. Croatia is good.
What I was gonna say was Croatia's two and oh
(01:13:33):
they've got their six points. They're moving on. However, what
they could do is they could rest some of their players,
which sometimes what teams do at the end of the
group stage, if they're going to move out to the
knockout stage, maybe they wouldn't play there, you know, full guys,
or rest certain players. Maybe you could see something unique there. Um,
but I don't know if they would say, hey, let's
just kick the ball back and forth for ninety minutes.
(01:13:54):
I don't know if you'd have that. But anyway, Argentina's possible. Yeah,
it's true. Ram was laughing at me in the background,
and I'm just saying it's possible. Ronalds France beat Perute
today one zero Denmark at Australia played to a one
one draw. Yankees over the Mariners today four three aeron
Judge home run number nineteen, Red Sox beat the Twins
(01:14:15):
nine two Mookie Bets home run number nineteen Rockies on
top of the Mets. Right now, I should say Red
Sox beat the Twins if I maybe misspoken nine two
Rockies over the Mets five to hand. Finally, this Doug
Travelers Championship. Jordan's speak has a share of the leader's

two back. Jason Day three back in US Open Champ

We thought, look, our speculation is one thing. It's so
much better when you get guys that cover these teams
on a daily basis. That's when we need help. Hey,
we don't know everything, but we know people that know
what you want to know. You know, sounds like you
meet a guy. I got a guy protecting your home.

your own What are the Knicks doing to night? First,
(01:16:04):
I'm so honored to be elevated to a Cooke guy status,
So thank you for that. Um, what who are they
doing tonight? I mean? Am I not to think of it? Also,
I would assume Kevin Knox, that's kind of a guy
I've kind of assume that they end up with, given
that WOAJ has sort of broken where the first six
picks are give or take um, and if everything kind
of falls out according to plan, I would say not
(01:16:25):
to the guy they're interested in, because it fits all
the boxes they're looking to check. Okay, but if we
take if we take Woad as the gospel, which I
think most of us do, there is curiously absent from
his tweet, who gets mo Bamba at number four? That
could be the New York Knicks if they're willing to
take that poison pill that is Chandler Parsons contract. Uh
(01:16:47):
would they be willing to do that? I'd be shocked.
I know, like Perry and Mills since taking over the
whole goal of being flexibility and built the summer of
twenty nineteen to kind of go after Kyrie or Kauai
or whoever else would be there. Um Parsons goes past that.
That would kill that idea and I just don't that
and the idea that I don't think they're so they
(01:17:08):
like Bomba, but I don't know how the fit Obamba
porzingis will be interesting and it's not. I've been told
that Perry Mills there, they're interested, they're intrigued by Bomba,
but they're not willing to kind of break the thing
to go move up to get him at number four
and take back Parson's contract. Um. But if they were
to get to four, is Bomba the guy they really want? Na,
I wouldn't be surprised, though, I don't think so. I
(01:17:31):
I thought that was kind of odd to write you
get another long armed shot blocker, although and one who
is more kind of perimeter or dunker finisher. I don't
know how that works with porzingis when they're both healthy.
That that one seeing if you're gonna build around perzingis
that it seems to be kind of an odd fit
for the future. Yeah, I would agree. I mean, I know,
I'm says Dale. Since he's come in, you know, he's
(01:17:51):
he says the word position list for his position list
every chance, you know, there's a camera in front of him.
So I guess that would be the way around that
that maybe if you're the belief that you know the yeah,
it's all about three and d wing guys, and maybe
the next evolution is that the wing guys are the
quote unquote wing guys or seven one like Bomba. So
you just throw a bunch of six ten seven fut
guys out there. You can all do a bunch of things.
Maybe they would be the way around it, but no,
(01:18:13):
I see, I kind of agree with you. I would
find that a weird fit and that I'd be I
guess I feel like this. I'd be shocked if they
threw away their plans that they've had for the past
two years, meaning the cap space, if they traded flexibility,
they traded up for the opportunity to pair reporting with

Follow him. Thanks so much for joining us. My pleasure,
(01:18:35):
Thank you, I got a guy. Sam Smith covers the
Bulls for Bulls dot Com. Matter of fact, he wrote
the book Jordan's Rules. He joins us on the Doug
Gottlip Show. Sam, what do you think the Bulls do tonight?
Do they stand pat Well, they're like a lot of teams,
I'm sure that you know, trying to move up, trying
to get more involved, and they just spent the whole
(01:18:55):
season losing games. Try and get one of these guys.
Know it's right now, it's still in a position of
sort of who falls to them, and you know that's
most looking at this point, like Windale Carter who they
like you and a lot of you know, a lot
of the personnel guys like them for versatility and shooting
ability and things like that. And I think they really
(01:19:18):
have their eyes more on some of the other big guys,
uh who have more out of reach badly for sure, um,
you know, but Jackson and Bomba, And I think Bomba
is the guy that they have, you know, feel it.
It's maybe more in reach. Maybe they can put together
a package they have twenty two. They have some other player,
(01:19:38):
Bobby Portis particularly and so you know that. I don't know,
I don't believe they want to take a lot of
money of Parsons, but I you know, they're still involved
in that, you know, maneuvering up in the top, you know,
three and four five in there. All right, Well, what
about the two other names that had been bandied about,
uh One was Michael Porter Jan Is it the medicals
(01:20:01):
or something else that scares them away? I think it's
the medicals. I mean, I'm not none of us are
medical people, but I would not I would be very
surprised if they took that. In fact, I from what
I've been hearing, and again you don't know, you know
coming up, but I don't. I don't hear him now
(01:20:21):
going in the top ten, and that certainly would be
a tip off. It has occurs, um so I so
I think, you know, he obviously and Young have been
too you know, hit or myth kind of players, and
and if Young is there, I think it would be
an interesting question. And I do think they would take
(01:20:42):
him if you know, I expect to Orlando to take him,
although you've been here and talk about what Colin Sexton
and they like toughness and this and that. I still
think they would go with Young. But if they didn't
and they Bomba, you know, the conventional wisdom has you know,
bombas at Dallas and if uh uh, if Orlanda would
(01:21:03):
have passed on Young, I think there's be a pretty
good chance they might take him to No. There they've
been an awful defensive team and that would make it worse.
But I still think they would probably be intrigued by
you know, his ball movement is passing obviously the shooting,
but a lot of elements to get the ball moving,
which is they haven't been they weren't good. They weren't
(01:21:24):
good at a lot of things, but if they weren't
good at that too. Sam smith new book is Hard
Labor The NBA of the sixties and seventies. Fallen on
Twitter if you want to know more about it at
Sam Smith Hopes Sam, it's a pleasure. Enjoy the draft night.
We'll catch up soon. Thanks. So you needed a guy,
we got you a guy. Now's a fantastic trying to
(01:21:45):
buy a new Honda. Visit shop Honda dot com or
visit your local Honda dealer today. It's interesting Wendell Carter,
who some people you know. Obviously in the NBA Draft
they have him going maybe seven to the Bulls or
maybe a little bit later after that. He's actually a
much better shop blocker than DeAndre Adan is much better
shop block and I think I think he's While he's
(01:22:08):
not the physical specimen that Aidan is, he can shoot
the ball exceedingly well, and he was because he wasn't
the primary target. He's learned to move the basketball and
be a good passer. So look, I think there's a
lot to like there. If you end up settling on
a window Carter and you're the Chicago Bulls, Um, Look,
we misuse words all the time. Look, some people will
(01:22:30):
tweet that I use bad English at times fair accurate.
But I don't know if you you know this, but
the English Dictionary has changed or at least added to
the definition of the term of the word literally, where
(01:22:51):
literally is actually actually figuratively. Well, we use the word
talent all the time. Talent has any different meetings. When
I'm asked about the level of talent in this draft,
I thought about those multiple meetings. I'll share him with
the upcoming next in the Doug Gotlip Show. What up,
Doug Gottlieb Show, Fox Sports Radio. M. I hope you're
(01:23:21):
having a great day, great night, I really do. Um,
I hope you're just having the most spectacular, special, special
day possible. This is the Doug Outlieb Show. It's only
on Fox Sports Radio. UM, I'm excited because to this
Tonight's NBA Draft music. You big NBA draft guy. We
haven't really discussed with the guys whether or not they're
(01:23:44):
big NBA draft guys. I would not consider myself one.
I would say someone such as yourself and Jason McIntyre,
who we had on earlier. Big NBA Draft guys. I
would just say I get really into it when you
know the Lakers had the number two overall pick. But
if they're not, which is several of the last couple
(01:24:04):
of years, by the way, right, So when they're in it,
and if they're in the lottery or in the top five,
then I'm really into it. Otherwise I just casually follow
for work purposes. M uh Ramos, what about you? Yeah,
I would agree with um with Ryan on that Lakers
in there. I'm definitely in. I'm in this year just
to see where. I'd like to see where people go.
(01:24:24):
I'd like to see things move around and shake. But
definitely the NFL draft obviously seems much more of a
well rounded thing for me. But I enjoyed the NBA draft.
I enjoy to see what exactly happens. It's always a
crapsheet to see who's going to go for what, And
I think that's the most important thing, the most interesting
part of it. There's also, um, there's there's also look,
(01:24:46):
we got there, it's there. The NFL draft is different.
It does feel bigger. It is bigger. The difference is
most of those guys and what what used to differentiate
the NBA draft to the NFL draft is most of
those guys most um you didn't used to you didn't
see right, like you can't see offensive lineman, defensive lineman,
(01:25:06):
or you see them play, they make one or two places.
Whereas basketball, what's had separated was they're playing basketball, there's
only five guys. You have the n c A tournament,
you're almost always a star player for your team before
you're even drafted, so we get a better sense of
who you are. We've lost that with the one and
done right, we've lost that. And because football has covered
(01:25:29):
so uh so differently, I think we've also gotten to
the point where, um, we feel like we know the
football players, and the football players have been around for
more more time. So it's crazy that the NBA Draft,
which used to be, hey, we know these guys more
than the NFL guys, it's kind of switched. By the way,
the best NBA Draft show is right here on Fox
(01:25:49):
Sports Radio. Catch Chris Bruzard, NBA Champion, Karn Butler, and
Jason McIntyre throughout the entire first round beginning at seven
Eastern Time. In addition to the latest Lebron James and
uh Kawaii Leonard knew is they'll have predictions and analysis
of all thirty picks in the first round. That's night
with Chris Brossard, Karen Butler, Jason McIntire, seven Eastern Time,
right here on Fox Sports Radio, Dan Buyer, you a
(01:26:11):
and an NBA draft n You is an appointment watching
for you used to be but not anymore. Yeah, yeah,
I remember it was. It was such a big thing.
You mentioned the two thousand three draft even at that time,
I would say fifteen years ago. Um, you know when
you were talking about covering it on on the for
(01:26:33):
ESPN at that time. I still think it was a
big deal back then, but something's happened over the last
I don't know, you know that was that was actually
the tipping point draft in my opinion, because um, after that,
after that, that was all that. That was all the
last time the high school kids were in there. Uh
two thousand no, excuse me. Two thousand five was I
(01:26:54):
think eight high school kids taking the first round or
some ridiculous number like that, and some were, some were
There was Dwight Howard, but there was also j R.
Smith and then there was Sebastian Telfairs. There was very
much a mixed bag um of of options in terms
of who did what in their NBA career. I think
the one and done has has heard it. Like, I
(01:27:16):
just think the idea that a kid plays for a
couple of games and then he's done. You know, I
just I can't see that being a good thing at all.
Yesterday when when we were in for you, Doug, we
also argued how the NBA and NFL have switched. Like
with the NFL draft years back, it would be draft
the guy, Let's bring him in for a couple of years,
(01:27:38):
you know, like, let him watch see how things go.
In the NBA, you're you're getting guys being active, being
starters right away, and now it's like the NFL you've
got to get production from your first three rounds. Or
the NBA you're like, okay, maybe if this guy's a
mid first round pick and give us some minutes, that's
you know, gravy with what we've got. It seems like
the two leagues of switch spots. I completely agree with you. Well,
(01:27:59):
they also switched spots. I said this, and I know
you're you're doing other work. They've also switched spots. In
terms of you used to used to feel like you
knew the basketball players more because they play in a
couple of differentiate tournaments, and you didn't know anything about
the football players because there's so many games and there's
positions to which you don't pay attention to. Now the
football players have been in school for two, three or
(01:28:19):
four or even five years, whereas the basketball players, most
of them have been have been playing for five minutes.
It feels like, Yeah, I also think the Combine, the
NFL Combine helps out as well because it's become such
a bigger event and there are names that maybe you
didn't know, but not not for everybody, but it allows
another showcase for that college football player to be known
(01:28:39):
at during the draft. Yeah, that's fair. That's that's fair.
It's a weird thing. Um. We also, like I get
asked all the time. So I've covered this thing and
I wrote a piece for the uh the Athletic earlier today.
I've done things on TV, will do some stuff on
Twitter later on um where uh Look, I truly and
(01:29:00):
honestly believe that there is talent in this draft. How
talented draft? It's talented. Is it a good draft? Is
it a bad draft? It's like both, right, it sounds
like a total cop out, doesn't it. It sounds like
the worst statement in the world, like, you know what.
But the truth is, that's what the draft is this year.
(01:29:23):
It's not an a draft, and an a draft you
have to have like a a generational star. I told
people first time I was on Fox Sports one. I
was on with Cowherd. I was still working at CBS.
I was on his Fox Sports one show, and I
said that Ben Simmons is the best one and done
that I've seen. I know Kevin Durant has become a
better player, but Ben Simmons, the game was so easy
(01:29:46):
to him in college. It just was. It's been fairly
easy to him in the NBA until you get to
the playoffs. GRANTEDY had a year to sit out. Um,
there's not a Kevin Durant, There's not a Ben Simmons,
There's not a Lebron James. So with that mind, you'd
say this is a bad draft. No, no, no, no,
no no. Luca don Check is gonna be a good
(01:30:08):
NBA player. I can almost guarantee I think he's gonna
be a good player. Um, I think Marvin Bagleyby has
a chance to be an All star. I think DeAndre
and you know, it's gonna depend on how they use him,
how he continues to evolve, how he plays in the perimeter.
Can they get quality point guard play? Like I think
DeAndre and will be a good player, could be an
All Star. But there's a lot of good big guys
(01:30:29):
in this league and they're all getting marginalized. That's that's
why I'm kind of like, Look, I personally think that
there's some other potential All Stars out there. But if
I said this is a great draft, that'd be lying.
If I said this is a good draft, that'd be
more honest. Right, this is a good draft. This is
(01:30:50):
we use this word talent all the time and kind
of well as you is. How with the level of talent,
like all depends on what you're looking for. Dan Buyer said,
he's right, some of these guys are just eight. I
like this kid, Kevin Knox. He's out of places played Kentucky,
played one years. Eighteen years old, and of the guys
taken early in the NBA draft, he's going to be
(01:31:10):
the youngest. So as long as you understand that at eighteen,
he's gonna likely go through what many of us went
through and we got to nine years old, which is,
you know, you're starting to get those those man muscles. Uh,
you're gonna kind of evolve and develop, like, and he'll
gain some weight, and it's you know, you wanted to
be good weight, Like, as long as you're totally reasonable
(01:31:34):
about that, I think you'd be fine. So there is talent.
There is talent. It's just we we've kind of changed
how we look at the word talent, much like we've
changed how we look at the word um. Uh, what's
the word I was looking for? Literally? Right? Literally used
(01:31:55):
to mean literally right? The literal definition of something is
what the actual definition? But I planted out this earlier
that somebody Webster has decided that because kids say the
word literally and they actually mean figuratively, that's one of
the definitions of literally. So we'll do that with talent.
What does talent mean? Is there talent draft? Yes? Is
(01:32:16):
there general once in a generation or once in a
decade talent? No? Are there really good players? Yes? Is
it deep? Sort of deeper than last year? Not deeper
than two thousand three, Not deep with a bevy of
immediate All stars? That makes sense. I I know it
sounds like I'm contradicting yourself. But like Jaren Jackson is
(01:32:38):
really talented, he's also really young, and it's gonna depend
on how he's used and how he evolves whether or
not he becomes a, UM, you know, an all star
caliber player. So listen. You can download the All Ball Podcast.
We've got great draft stuff on that. You can check
out the UH the piece I did in The Athletic.
(01:33:01):
If you follow me on Twitter, I'll retweet that we
got some other NBA draft stuff upcoming on the Doug
Gottlieb Show. Real quick. Here's an update The things you
need to know. The things you need to know from
UH the NBA draft. Adrian Zanowski tweeted out that top
six picks in order Sons, DeAndre and Kings, Marvin Bagley, Hawks,
(01:33:24):
Luca don Check. He has no team listed by Jaren
Jackson at four. That's because the the Memphis Grizzlies, who
tanked mightily in the second half of the season. I
want to sell that pick, and you can only have
that pick if you're willing to take Chandler parsons terrible contract.
As Chandler parsons knee is a mess, then you got
(01:33:44):
the Mavericks who will take mo Bamba and the Magic
will take Trey Young. In other words, if you want
mo Bamba or Trey Young, you gotta leap frog those
two teams and take that poison pill of Chandler Parsons pick.
The other thing you need to know about in sports
is Argentina loss today. So uh Lionel Messi has a
(01:34:06):
chance to be bounced from the tournament before the round
of sixteen if they don't win and win by a
sizeable margin. And oh yeah, by the way, they need
Croatia and Iceland to not tie any Croatia to win. Frankly,
that helps them the most. Protecting your home team, Farmers

will take place in Dallas in August. You want to
(01:36:37):
check out this season with the Big Three, you really do. UM.
All the games are live Friday nights, seven thirty to
ten thirty. But if you go in person, it's awesome.
It's like a it's like a concert. Plus you get
to watch some NBA players you watch win championships, guys
like Dante Jones. Of course you saw seen in the NBA.
He's joined us now on the Doug Gotlip Show here
on Fox Sports Radio. Dante level of excitement over Big
(01:37:00):
Three season. I'm definitely excited just to be out there
and have fun and enjoy the crowd. So it's gonna
be exciting this year. Yeah, totally different style of basketball, right,
don't you almost have to like relearn? Like, look, we've
we all played half court some growing up, but to
play it competitively, to play it for money like it's
and it's crazy, crazy physical. Considering how the NBA game
(01:37:24):
has morphed, it really feels to me like you almost
have to relearn it you're playing it, Do you have
to relearn how you play? Who? I'm learning the new
rules for this game right now, So you guys have
to learn and learn how to play this game because
it isn't definitely a little bit different than what I
normally used to play. So I'm learning on the advantages
and the rules and how we put all these things together.
(01:37:48):
All right, where's Lebron going? If I had not answer? Definitely,
I'd be a rich man, though who knows man? Who
knows who how him and his family view the situation
is and how they with their value and how they're
going to live their life for the next couple of years. Okay,
so tell me what do you think? Like, listen, he
(01:38:08):
went The only time he talked about it, the only
time he talked about it, he mentioned in the family right,
he said, Hey, look, I'm different now. My family is
in a different place than I was when I went
to Miami or even then when I came here. Brownie
is a year away from high school. What do you
translate that to me? What do you think that means?
That means that the Brownie and Brace are or older
(01:38:31):
now and their gay going to junior high high school,
and now you have to take their imput into consideration
according to where they possibly want to live. He can.
He has a lot of options, and he's taking their
input on on where they possibly wanted to bring the
high school days there, and he's going to look at
it and see if it aligns with what he's thinking about.
(01:38:52):
And where do you think about going too? Yeah? But
so does that mean like I've taken that and many
people I know have taken that to me, Well, it's
either l A or it's Cleveland, because, um, because those
are two places that they actually own a home. It
will make them feel more at home. Is that too
much of a leaf to think that? I don't think so.
(01:39:13):
And even in guessing myself, I would think that that's
where what that actually means, I mean the not looking
at both places where I'm man. You see, we're both
sets of world. My families comfortable in both areas, and
if either one makes them more happy or the other,
so and I would and I would naturally gravitate to
that decision in process being being cheated those subcity Yeah,
(01:39:36):
wouldn't it though? If he was gonna stay, wouldn't you
just say he's staying? I don't know, because, um, you
have to look at it, and you have to and
some respect propressional organizations to be better. And if he
if he wants to stay and he wants them to
to bring a better team back, I think you put
them under the gun. And if you put pressure on
(01:39:57):
them to actually rebuild a roster and and to bring
a better team back to entice them to come back. Yeah,
but I guess that the thing is the best way
to stay and the best way for them to build.
It's it is a little bit of a circular thing,
right In order for him to say he wants to stay,
they got to build a better team around him. To
build a better team around him, he's got to say
(01:40:19):
he's gonna stay, right, Yeah, But I don't think I
think they're more inclined to to to start now under
the gun. If you understand what I'm saying, like if
they're going to build and help and build them and
be better with him being in free agency, it makes them,
it makes them do it now to entype them to
(01:40:39):
come back, rather than if they just wait a whole
summer or they selected this thing they have molted, they
may not be as inclined to make more more moves
and and to be and to gamble as much and
trying to build their rosters. Dante Jones showing us in
the Doug Gottlip Show. Here we are a couple of
days away from the Big Three. You can check it
out on Fox and Fox Sports one all season long.
(01:41:01):
Corstante one NBA Championship. He knows all these guys in
the league. What do you think about the Kauai thing?
Like where where you know? First he is he injured
as he heard, he comes back for nine games. Then
he shuts it down. He's not working out with the team.
They can offer the super max. Uh. He gets leaked
that he wants out. Popovich flies to San Diego. Reportedly,
(01:41:22):
Kawai tells him like thanks, love you from coming out,
but no thanks, I want out. What do you think
of the Kauai thing? It looks like to me a
situation where there's a lot of miscommunication between the organization
and the player, and in him saying that he wasn't
feeling like he was able to play, and then with
the teammates and coach Pop coming out and trying to
(01:41:45):
make light of it like he can play or like
he's in some respect faking. That is where he got
a little bit upset. And now he's put in a
position where he had the ability to the side where
he wants to play a year in advance, and and
he's taken full advantage of it with him with him
being hurt. I I admire him for taking his personal
(01:42:10):
welfare into consideration because he has a longer career to
prepare for and to prepare for the amount of wade
that he possibly could make. If he were to come
back and get injured again, and he knew he was
in a hundred percent and he came back and get
injured again, it wouldn't it wouldn't counted that towards him
coming up in in in free agency in a year
(01:42:32):
or his value read the climb and they wouldn't have
taking that in consideration, and he would have only been
the one losing. They wouldn't have said, you know, you
can risk this for us, so we're still going to pay.
You know, they would have just get They would have
they would gave him what he was valued at. And
so he just took he took his own career into
his hand. Fair point Dante Jones joining us in the
Doug Gotlip Show here on Fox Sports Radio. Um So
(01:42:53):
there's this thought that, all right, you know, Lebron goes
to l a super team, you've been with them before.
My everyone's looking at it as he'd be crazy to
go in the West because you're not going to beat
the Warriors in the West. But if you look at Miami,
if you look at Cleveland, it took him a year.
Granted he got to the finals both years. First year
(01:43:13):
in Miami, first year in Cleveland, but it took him
wasn'tntil the second year in which his team won a
championship in two years. The Warriors clays up, Draymond's up.
They got a lot of hard decisions to make. I
think they got to rework their bench this offseason. Isn't
it fair? To think that we're looking at it right now,
whereas the league is gonna look really differently in two years.
(01:43:34):
If he goes to l A, right, it's it's a
it's it's not um I guarantee of what the West
is going to look like. And I think people do
not take that granted, the fact that the West is
not setting song with the with the way that Golden
has to form their rosters. So even if he does
come to l A, he's could have a positioned where
he could form a team that could have more longeviteven
(01:43:54):
Golden State, and it's a it's an option for him
to be able to build some thing stronger than to
go to state team. So I think both I think
him even in Cleveland and him coming to LA they
both had different benefits. We'll we'll see when it when
it when it comes out, and how both teams kind
of their roster to be able to create a team,
to be able to have mong Jevites, Dante, great stuff. Man,
(01:44:17):
I can't wait to see out there. Like you know,
this Big Three stuff is physical. It ain't no joke.
They just like hardly it's it's it's even old school
before you got into the NBA type of NBA. Right.
You know, I'm the Pens and I and I enjoyed
the physicality of the game, so I'll look forward to
They're going to having a good time compete and playing basketball.
So I'm just looking forward to having a good time
both man. Alright. Tickets are available Big three, Big three
(01:44:40):
dot Com Slash tickets again Houston this week in all
the big cities. Dallas is the championship, see me. Dallas
is the semifinals. The championship is in Brooklyn in August.

(01:45:27):
It starts in Russia at the World Cup as Croatia
playing d Argentina today a Group D three zero, So
Croatia is onto the round of sixteen. Argentina likely gonna
need some help if they want to make it to
the knockout stage. It's Argentina's worst loss of group play
in sixty years. France top Peru one zero, dead market
(01:45:49):
Australia played to a one one draw. The NBA Draft
is tonight seven o'clock Eastern time right here on Fox
Sports Radio Now. Phoenix is on the clock at number one,
followed by Soccer Meadow in Atlanta. There is a report
from ESPN that the Grizzlies are shopping the fourth overall
pick in a trade that would also have to include
Chandler Parsons and the fifty million dollars left on his contract.
(01:46:10):
Yeah who sports is. The Lakers have reached out to
the Spurs about Kawuahi Leonard, but that conversation did not
go far. Nolan Arronado home run number sixteen on the
season as the Rockies lead the Mets right now in
the eighth inning five to two, Red Sox beat the
Twins today nine to two. Is Mookie Betts at home
run number nineteen on the season. Also home run number
nineteen for Aaron Judge. We may hear that in a
(01:46:32):
little bit in the press, just a bit of a
tease Yankees, Yankees for three to sweep the three games series.
How about this leaderboard at the Travelers a week after
the US Open. Rory mclaroy and Jordan's Speech share the
lead with Zack Johnson at seven under par. Jason Days
(01:46:54):
three shots back at minus four. Brooks kept go the
US Open champ at minus two. But yeah, big names
rising to the occasion in Cromwell, connect a kid, Doug.
It's honestly, that's one of the most fun tournaments. It's
I hate to be this guy to say this. It's
the Phoenix of the East Coast and you're like, no, way, okay,
(01:47:14):
So Phoenix is no what's the whole is a fourteenth
hold at Phoenix sixteen? I'm sorry, I'm that That's where
I'm golf idiot. Sixteenth hold at Phoenix is the party hole, right,
But it's got an incredible series of finishing holes, and
then the stadium, Uh, the Stadium eighteenth is just kind
of lined with these really cool set up where all
(01:47:35):
the different sponsors have uh kind of their own hospitality
areas and it's a it's a good time and you
can really score on the course. It rewards guys that
goes for it. I mean, that's that's a fun place.
And the weather has been really good in Connecticut as well.
And because the weather's so you you know, get up
and down when it's nice, and when they get a
(01:47:56):
golf tournament's like the only thing, you know, the only
major sporting then in Connecticut. I think it ends up
being the better because of it that that event is
really cool. I've gone to it. I want to play
in the celebrity one because it's so much fun. There
are a few tour stops on the PGA Tour that
also draw that like these names that you've got big
names here. Heck, when we go down to Torry Pines
(01:48:17):
for the Farmers Insurance Open, there argue, I mean, when
you have Tiger and fill in your field and then
you add a Jason Day who ended up being the
champion earlier this year, it's a really strong field. Then
you have a field maybe at Quail Hollow and Charlotte
in May, and then you come to Cromwell, Connecticut as
you mentioned here, and it's tough, Doug because it's between
the US Open and the British Open. The Open Championship
(01:48:39):
just comes up in a couple of weeks. But I
mean even just the strength of the field for non
majors and outside of the players in the World Golf Championships,
it's a top three field event for sure, um without
any doubt, without any doubt, I think it's I think
it's really cool. Yes it is. And they used to
struggle to get people because it was right after the
US Open out this year. It really helps that Shinnecock.
(01:49:02):
It's a short little flight, you know, short little flight
up to to Hartford in order to go and do it.
But you know, so next year, next year, I think
the field won't be very good because next year, um U,
the U s Open is at Pebble Beach, right and
asking guys to go from Pebble on a Sunday to
there on a Wednesday is a lot. So some of
(01:49:24):
it is really helped out by the end. But some
of it's helped out by travelers because and they have
major sponsors, and then the sponsors have their guys get there.
But I would I would. I would contend that this
will probably next year will probably be a down year,
and for the next bunch of years, the the US
Open volleys back and forth between East and West for
(01:49:44):
the most part. Right like, it's there, then it's back,
then it's Tory, then it's back. So it does move
around about. That's all my design to do it back
and forth. Here's the question I have for you, buyer.
You said he used to be NBA draft all through
and through, and now you're like, Okay, who's the guy
You thought this guy is gonna be a player, and
(01:50:05):
then he wasn't. Uh, Jason Williams a d H. I
actually think Jay Wills. I think Jay will would have
been like if if he's one of those born too
soon guys, you know, because he was never a true point,
he wasn't a great shooter. But now and again, some
of this would come down to role in which he played.
Remember he was a member of those Bulls teams after
(01:50:29):
they had Michael Jordan, and they weren't very good and
they uh, they were kind of you know, they're their
veterans were Jalen Rose, and now we look at Jalen
Rose now and Jalen Rose had a great run with
the Pacers. But then he was very immature, smoked a
lot of weed and wasn't wasn't a great player. Um
Jay Will obviously was limited by his lack of shooting.
Wasn't a great shooter. But he was a score, but
(01:50:51):
he wasn't a point. He wasn't a too. He's like
a hybrid player. I think he actually be pretty good now.
And he had the motorcycle accident to um well, of
course it was after after after first year had disappointed
first year, then he had the motorcycle accident. Um Ramos.
Who would Ramos or music? You guys have one that
you would say, like, man, I thought that guy was
gonna be really good and then he wasn't really good.
(01:51:11):
You know what. I bought it on a gym for that.
I actually thought after I saw him playing the in
the tournament that he was gonna really come out and
just hit a lot of he'd be an outside shooter
that would just just be somebody who wouldn't be able
to miss and he just really just didn't pan out
the way I thought he would. That's all fair enough.
What about you Rye music going somebody West Coast? I
(01:51:32):
know that going more recent and I guess I don't
know if you would say he is totally done developing.
But I thought Buddy Heald would do pretty well just
given similar to what John said about for Debt, you know,
just seeing him in college and seeing that he had
range as a shooter and knowing that that sort of
fit with how today's game is played. I always thought
(01:51:53):
that he would be able to just jump into the
league and be able to be a contributor. I didn't
think he'd be a superstar, but I thought he would
be more consistent and more have a better impact than
he's had in his short It's interesting, obviously, people give
me the business because when Steph Curry declared, I didn't
think you'd be a great pro. I just didn't. I
(01:52:13):
thought he'd be good. Um, when I came around to
around draft day was I thought he'd be like Jeff
Hornessec right where he's and people look at it like
Jeff Hornessec. How could you ever like Jeff Hornessec was
a good player, um so um. I just thought he
was in between positions. He was a very good shooter,
and he was a good pass for too. By the way,
Jeff Hornsec at his peak average twenty games, when I
(01:52:37):
said like, be like, oh, you're compared him to Jeff
Hornessey's a fifteen game guy for the life of his career,
which lasted I believe fifteen seasons, uh two years where
he averaged about twenty game one where he actually was
that twenty game and was an elite, elite shooter and
a really good pastor. Jeff Hornsec average five assists a
game for his career, so I was actually kind of
(01:52:58):
there on assist and they're on shooting. I just didn't
know it would be like twenty or seven or twenty
eight a game. And I don't know anybody who did. Um.
But anyway, people like to roast me on that the
ones that I know everybody dismisses the ones that you've
hit for the ones that you miss. Right, Like, if
you look back when Marvin Williams went number two in
the draft Andrew Bogan number went number one, I said, hey, Chris,
(01:53:21):
Paul Dearyn Williams, those are the guys you should be
looking at. Because it's becoming a guard dominated game. You
have to have somebody who can initiate the offense, who
can defend the point, create shots for self, create shots
for others. That's why I look, I have Colin Sexton
is my number two guy, and you're like, no way, way.
I think calling Sexton is terrific. Um, he's got to
(01:53:43):
learn to be more of a point guard. But even
learning to be a point guard isn't as important as
it used to be. He's an incredible competitor, a tremendous athlete,
A good finisher needs to be better. A decent shooter
needs to be better. Those things can be taught. You
cannot teach this athleticism and the toughness and so um. Yeah,
I've missed on some guys. I hit on. Derrick Williams
(01:54:04):
was the number two pick of the draft, and I
told people that's gonna be a disaster from Minnesota, and
it wasn't. I didn't like Derrick Williams, but he was
in Arizona. He played the power forward, he played center,
and he shot a crazy percentage from three. But it's
because of because he's being guarded by college forwards in
college centers, and he shout at a higher percentage than
his actual jump shot. He was you know, he had
to be a pro wing. And when you have to
(01:54:27):
move outside from playing inside, it's really difficult to do.
The footwork is different, the defense is different. And that's
one of the reasons that I'm not down on DeAndre aight.
And I just realized that in the NBA, well, he's
not a rim protector and he's not really a perimeter player.
So playing facing the basket's going to be new to him,
going to be very new to him, gonna be fastating
to see what happens. Um. And then you know, Don
(01:54:50):
Chick is a guy that I really like as a
good player, but I'm badly one Sexton two And in
many ways I actually like Um, I actually like some
other guys as much or more then um. You know,
like I like Window Carter in many ways I like
(01:55:11):
more than DeAndre. And just because Window Carter has played
more face in the basket and is a better rim protector,
that's I'm not doubting that Eighton won't go one. Uh.
The Mo Bamba thing is interesting. You know, he's got
videos of now shooting threes. I still think Mo Bamba
is never going to be a dominant player. This is
one of the things you're missing in when guys come
out early from college. I want somebody who here's where
(01:55:34):
I give DeAndre and credit. I want somebody who dominates
in college before they go go to the NBA. And
Eton did that. Mobama did not. Now Obama comes back
one more year or two more years, he probably dominates,
but to this point he hasn't. And so when you
go from being a nice piece and a prospect guy
(01:55:56):
in college, very few times you develop into being an
fight go to score in the pros. Anthony Davis is
probably one of the only ones people remember. Anthony Davis
at Kentucky. He couldn't shoot, He couldn't really score. He
was a leader, a great defensive player who could not
score at all. So it has happened before, but the
(01:56:17):
likelihood of it happening is less than a guy who
has been a dominant scorer in college. More of that

Fox Sports Radio, UM quick plug for Incredibles to Ramos
(01:57:01):
Fantastic fantastic. I think better than incredible one. The problem
with Incredibles one fighting the saying it's better is incredible
as one came up with the idea, right, just the
idea of superheroes becoming average every day Joe's um, you know,
(01:57:24):
like the initial idea is really was is really really good?
This is better? This is funnier, more fun. There's there's
the uh, what's really like to be a parent? There's
the element of the working dad becomes the working mom
and the stay at home dad. There's a lot to it.
You've seen them both, right, I did. Yeah, I wasn't
(01:57:46):
as high on it as you are, but it was.
It was a good movie. It wasn't a great movie.
How's that? I thought the middle part was a little
slow with the last girl was interested in that too much.
I was more interested in the stay at home dad
and the child that was going crazy. That was very funny. Well,
they had to set up that, they had to set
up they had to set up coax, you know, they
(01:58:07):
had to set up the chase. I thought it was
really good. I thought there was also a little message
there with with how we uh how how how into
social media and our screens. You know. I thought there's
a lot of elements there that you're gonna go back
and go watch a second. Like, man, it was really good. Definitely,
I definitely would say to go see it. I just said,
I'm not as high in as you are, that's all. No, No,
(01:58:27):
I got it, I got it. Uh your your review

Let's get to the press. The press. Cars are a
lot like sports. You gotta have the right tools you
want to go far. Luckily, Autos own as a free
loan of tool program with over a hundred specially tools
to get the job done right. Stopping a day Apostles
required getting the zone Auto Zone. Dan Buyer got John
Ramos saying Incredibles two was not incredible. I think is
(01:59:10):
he was trying to say, uh, you know who was incredible? Today?
Croatia a huge moment in Croatian soccer history. Croatia, for
the second time is an independent nation since Yugoslavia dissolved,
clinching a spot on the knockout round if doing so
with something fashion over Argentina Croatia three, Argentina mill on
(01:59:31):
Fox there how they dropped the mill on your Doug.
Argentina's worst loss in group play in sixty years. Wow,
that's amazing, That's amazing. Um Iceland feels like Butler to me. Croatia.
Has Croatia been good before? It's just the second time
in the country's history they've made it to the knockout stage.
(01:59:54):
I understand, but it hasn't been a country that long
he used to be Yugoslavia. Right, So was Yugoslavia good? Um,
I'm not sure neither mind. Never look, they went to
the quarterfinals in nineties six and in a way which
leads me to believe this is a pretty good This
is a pretty good country. So I kind of feel
like Croatia is going Zaga and Iceland is Butler. The
(02:00:17):
Lakers reached out to the Spurs about Kawuai Leonard, according
to Yah who sports ESPN s were. M Ona Shelburne
quoted the Lakers sources saying the Spurs basically shut the
door on them when they can. I'm not interested, thanks,
no thanks. But that's a great negotiating tactic tactic, isn't it.
I mean, it really is. It's an incredible negotiating negotiating tactic.
(02:00:40):
When you close the door on somebody, or if you're
negotiating for a car, you walk out, you know, or
you you make a low ball offer, somebody makes a
lowball offer, you just don't you don't do a counter.
That's basically what they did. We just we're not gonna counter.
We're gonna we're not gonna bid against ourselves. Let them
bid against themselves that they want him. That doesn't mean
that doesn't mean the negotiations are over. A report from
(02:01:03):
ESPN says the Grizzlies are shopping the fourth overall picket
tonight's trade or in tonight's draft, but that trade would
also have to include Memphis forward Chandler Parsons and the
almost fifty million dollars left on his contract. Yeah, you
can have a pick, you just have to take this
awful contract. Wizards maybe trying to do the same with
Marcin Gore Todd. They'll maybe give away their overall I
(02:01:28):
believe um, but you may have to take Gort Todd
as well. All right, as promised, Judge swings, let's a
high drive to deep bright center. That ball is high,
that is full fund Judge and blas well. This is
judgment day, paren Judge, Homer's to deep right center and
(02:01:51):
before you can say hello, the Yankees have about too
nothing League jumping out on the Mariners today. Final score
for three Yanks to complete this three games sweep. On
the Yankees radio network. Have you seen what Mike Trout
is doing this year? The Yankees are awesome. I have
no I'm not gonna take take anything away from the Yankees.
Have you guys seen what Mike Trout is doing this year?
(02:02:14):
Mike Trout leading the league in home runs. He's on
base uh point four six nine, nearly fifty percent of
the time he's on base. He's also got thirteen stolen
bases on his way uh to probably about thirty five
maybe forty. Anyway, that's that's the press. Get out there
(02:02:34):
and the press. Great stuff. Dan Rick Bucker is gonna
join us tomorrow. We'll recap everything NBA draft Kitts. You
ready for NBA free agency season. Let me give you
a couple of thoughts seven o'clock Eastern time. You want
to check out our NBA Draft show right here on
Fox Sports Radio. Um. Look, the Trey Young thing is interesting,
(02:02:55):
and I think here's why I have stated. I think
he's gonna get somebody fired in to get the most
out of Trey Young. Ort to get the most out
of Tray Young, you got you gotta give him the basketball,
you just do. You gotta give him the basketball, and
you gotta give my high ball screen and spread everybody out.
The problem with that is, I don't think you win
with Trey Young for a while. Maybe not ever, but
(02:03:18):
when he's a young lottery pick, that's what Orlando is
going to do. There'll be nights which he puts up
big numbers, but you don't win that way. We've had
Steve Clifford on who remember said like, look, I don't
care how many points you average. If you give up
say number points at the other end, it gets really
hard to get you on the court. We'll see what
Steve claud Steve Clifford handles that if he in fact
becomes this new point guard with the Orlando Magic. We
(02:03:39):
didn't get this to this, uh, to this topic a ton.
But I do think that there is a certain Kevin
McHale apparently attended a Donald Trump rally and there are
people calling for his job. I do think it's interesting
that the other side, which is supposedly the side of inclusion,
is saying we're exclusive. You cannot think other than us. Right, Well,
(02:04:03):
it's the NBA and it's but that's not really actually
the way it works. It's not really the way it works.
All right. I'll give you some thoughts on Twitter. If
you want to follow me, download the All Ball podcast
