teams lose is we start to discuss the dearly departed, right,
we start to discuss while the body's still warm. We

talk about. And it's gonna be a hard series to
get people interested in just because it won't be followed
up by the ratings wins, because they're no name teams.
I mean again, you can take this as a slight
if you'd like, and I have obviously. I was just
in Oklahoma this morning, right, so I spent a lot

of time there. I have friends in the organization. And
what happens is people who are can be really sensitive
can take things in a way where they'll go, oh.

You just try it, Like no, these are the two
smallest markets ever to meet up in NBA Championship. There's
small markets, doesn't matter, has nothing to do. This is
a lot like college athletics when we talk about conference
rey alignment.

You're like, well, we've won this conference, We've.

Won this week, Like nobody cares how many people actually
watch when you play, right, It's like no one actually
outside of me said this this year. It's like everybody
for years talked about like why do we care so
much about Texas?

Why do we like, hey, what was the number one
rated game this year Georgia?

When Texas is back, the numbers are with them. Anyway,
won't be the most heavily watched, but we'll discuss it
a bunch. But I do think the Knicks are interesting
because like so many teams, and we've had a bunch.
The Atlanta Hawks went to the Eastern Conference Finals. You
can kind of go through the Philadelphia seventy six ers

go in the Eastern Conference Finals. You have teams that
it can be a little bit rare that they got there,
and then are they one step away or they can
try to make one big move. Let's talk about the
dearly depart of the New York Knicks. The athletic as
a writer, I think he's really talented. Got him Fred Katz.
He combined with James Edwards and they wrote this piece

on the future of the Knicks. Publicly, Knicks players made
veiled comments all season about the poor communication causing their inconsistencies.
Behind the scenes, they and coaches expressed frustration with towns
defensive habits, less concerned with his talent level, more with
his process on that end. Too often, Towns executed incorrect
coverages without communicating why he did it. After it became

a theme, players worried Towns didn't grasp the importance of
the matter. So what happens is you start lobbing grenades
at Karl Anthony Towns and the defensive metrics are pretty obvious.
He's not a very good defender. He does bring offense
in space, and as I said when the trade was made,
I don't know if it makes h a championship team,

but it fits considering Jalen Brunson is probably the best
physical small guard in the league at getting and scoring
tough twos, okay, you know, getting paint twos, and now
you have a big who's capable of shooting from three
and getting his own shot. Here's Jellen Brunson. He had
this exchange with a reporter about Tom Thibodeau after the

You talk about the confidence. Obviously, I feel like nobody
takes more criticism than Tom, and this team obviously has
turned around during his tenure. Do you kind of feel
that going forward he's the same guy? If two guys
the rest of the way at next level?

The flawed to the Knicks is this right? Their two
best offensive players are their two worst defensive players. And
that's really, really, really hard, if not impossible to navigate
in the NBA these days, you can have one minus defender,

you can't have two and three. Well, that's what the
Lakers have, right of your best players, because in order
for you to win, you gotta have your best play
now the best of there's the floor.

You can't have two that can't guard anybody.

And Brunson it's not like he doesn't, but he is
smallish and he's not a great defender. And Carl Towns
is plenty big, but not very athletic and not very
locked in on the defensive end. A lot of people
have brought up this remark from Becky Hammond, who's now
a head coach in the WNBA former NBA assistant. When

she was working on ESPN. This is a year and
a half ago. In December, she said this about.

Brunson, How stuck do you think the Knicks are here
in the Eastern Conference?

Well, I certainly agree with you.

They're not getting into that tier. They don't have enough personnel,
they don't have the manpower that they need to hang
with those guys. I think you're going to get a
consistent team like they've been. Their pretty good team. They're
they're well coached, they're going to be on their defensive game.
But at the end of the day, they don't have
a dude. You got to have a dude, You got
to have a one a dude, and they're missing that.

is like Steph Curry, if you're a minus defender, they're
gonna hunt one person.

And that's where when the Warriors have won, they've thrown
out four tremendous defenders, and Steph's gotten better defensively. His
success or lack of success, in my opinion, has nothing
to do with how tall he is, how how strong
he is, that he is whatever.

She's allowed to have that philosophy. There are people in
the NBA who have that belief. She's not the first

Player can't guard a soul and won't communicate defensively and
gets lost in. Whatever now if you put four other

Finals they're a good. TEAM i just don't know that
they're they have every ingredient necessary to win a championship.
Team if You're i've said this for a while, Now
Allen brunson is going to be your best. PLAYER i
think there is a, window as tiny as it might,
be to winning a championship with him as your best,

player because it's been demonstrated a few times over the
history of THE nba that it's. Possible but you need
like the perfect team around. Him you, need you, know
a certain degree of talent that is going to cover his,

he's capable of, it BUT i REALLY i have a
hard time with when a team falls. Short we make
also of allowances for the best player or for a
player that we are projecting as being an all time

great WHEN i can see so many clear shortcomings in their.
Games so first and, FOREMOST i believe that ant needs
to improve on a multitude of level levels and that
would solve a lot of their. Problems they're the most
expensive roster in the, league and so you, know generally

if you're getting a player or you have a star
that is not quite, there either they're not getting paid you, know,
maximum or there are pieces around them that are getting
paid less than their actual market. Value Steph curry again
in the twenty twenty Two warriors With Andrew wiggins And Jordan.

know they're they're they have the biggest pay role in the.
League they are in a mid sized, market and they
have a couple of. GUYS i, mean it's gonna be

and how much influence is that is he going to
have on? THAT i would imagine considerable, Amount and that's
where it gets tricky because those teams don't have the
assets that he ultimately or that The milwaukee ultimately would.

probably you're going to need multiple teams involved in order
to get him TO uh to the desired. DESTINATION i
don't know exactly right, Now LIKE i don't know that
there's a look or there's a there's a pecking order
in terms of who has the greatest, advantage But giannis

summer BECAUSE i do think that it's going to we
are going to get to the point Where yannis and

a bunch. But I do think the Knicks are interesting
because like so many teams, and we've had a bunch.
The Atlanta Hawks went to the Eastern Conference Finals. You
can kind of go through the Philadelphia seventy six ers

go in the Eastern Conference Finals. You have teams that
it can be a little bit rare that they got there,
and then are they one step away or they can
try to make one big move. Let's talk about the
dearly depart of the New York Knicks. The athletic as
a writer, I think he's really talented. Got him Fred Katz.
He combined with James Edwards and they wrote this piece

on the future of the Knicks. Publicly, Knicks players made
veiled comments all season about the poor communication causing their inconsistencies.
Behind the scenes, they and coaches expressed frustration with towns
defensive habits, less concerned with his talent level, more with
his process on that end. Too often, Towns executed incorrect
coverages without communicating why he did it. After it became

a theme, players worried Towns didn't grasp the importance of
the matter. So what happens is you start lobbing grenades
at Karl Anthony Towns and the defensive metrics are pretty obvious.
He's not a very good defender. He does bring offense
in space, and as I said when the trade was made,
I don't know if it makes h a championship team,

but it fits considering Jalen Brunson is probably the best
physical small guard in the league at getting and scoring
tough twos, okay, you know, getting paint twos, and now
you have a big who's capable of shooting from three
and getting his own shot. Here's Jellen Brunson. He had
this exchange with a reporter about Tom Thibodeau after the

You talk about the confidence. Obviously, I feel like nobody
takes more criticism than Tom, and this team obviously has
turned around during his tenure. Do you kind of feel
that going forward he's the same guy? If two guys

in the NBA these days, you can have one minus defender,

Lakers have, right of your best players, because in order
for you to win, you gotta have your best play
now the best of there's the floor.

You can't have two that can't guard anybody.

And Brunson it's not like he doesn't, but he is
smallish and he's not a great defender. And Carl Towns
is plenty big, but not very athletic and not very
locked in on the defensive end. A lot of people
have brought up this remark from Becky Hammond, who's now
a head coach in the WNBA former NBA assistant. When

she was working on ESPN. This is a year and
a half ago. In December, she said this about.

Brunson, How stuck do you think the Knicks are here
in the Eastern Conference?

Well, I certainly agree with you.

They're not getting into that tier. They don't have enough personnel,
they don't have the manpower that they need to hang
with those guys. I think you're going to get a
consistent team like they've been. Their pretty good team. They're
they're well coached, they're going to be on their defensive game.
But at the end of the day, they don't have
a dude. You got to have a dude, You got
to have a one a dude, and they're missing that.

out four tremendous defenders, and Steph's gotten better defensively. His
success or lack of success, in my opinion, has nothing

the NBA who have that belief. She's not the first
