How are you?

Speaker 4 (00:46):
I'm doing good. I have a little fom.

Speaker 5 (00:48):
I don't have a lot of fomo in life, Dan,
but you guys are rocking it on the East Coast
and experiencing the Bills Mafia.

Speaker 4 (00:56):
So I'm I'm excited to talk to you. Man.

Speaker 3 (00:59):
What an absolute night last night is myself and the
show's executive producer, Jason Stewart, who is with me here
at our great affiliate hometown thirteen forty WLVL in Lockport,
New York. We took in the Bills win over the
Miami Dolphins last night in the farewell season of high
Mark Stadium. And before we talk about the game, before

(01:21):
we talk about what it was like for Carrie to
play in that stadium as an opposing player, we have
to talk about the experience that we had last night
on Thursday night football with a fan base that, truly,
I feel is like no other for so many different reasons.
The I'll just say this right out of the gate,

(01:44):
we had great seats. Doug Gottlieb got us great seats. Jason,
were you surprised that we stood the entire game.

Speaker 4 (01:50):
A little bit?

Speaker 6 (01:51):
That's not that you know, We're used to casual fands
out in Southern California. Standing all game, though, I think
is what people do. I think that was a normal
thing that people do that we just don't care about
in Southern California.

Speaker 3 (02:01):
I don't think they do in all NFL games. I
don't think that you stand in every game. I don't
even know if you do it in college games anymore.
We were at the forty yard line. Douglas got us
great seats, so they had every reason to not want
to stand because you're sitting in really nice seats and
it's a great view. It's not like a student section,

(02:23):
but it felt like a student section. Sure, maybe we
sat down during timeouts carry our commercial breaks, but it
was non stop fans on their seats, lady yelling in
my year, all night long. It was. It was an
energy that I have not felt in a professional football
stadium really ever. It truly was a as close as

(02:45):
you could get to a college atmosphere. And it's not exact,
but it really really was that sort of feel last
night at Haigmark Stadium.

Speaker 5 (02:52):
What was the I mean, obviously the experience seems like
it was a great one, but for you guys both
walking into that stadium, especially right now while the bills
are really really good, what was the energy surrounding the town?
Because I know you guys had a little time to
I'm sure at meander a little bit. But in the
town of Buffalo, I've been there it quite a bit
and I've experienced it as well, Like, what did you

(03:13):
guys feel about that town?

Speaker 3 (03:15):
I thought it was magnificent and I grew up in
and I think it's apropos, but I grew up in
north central Wisconsin. Doug lives in Green Bay, talks about
the Packers fan base. It's unique. It's probably the closest
thing to what Buffalo has in the Buffalo is the
closest thing to what Green Bay has of any other
franchise in the NFL for a lot of different reasons.
But I also just think of the proximity of where

(03:36):
they are, the size of those towns, what they mean
to those communities in that part of the country. I
think that there are parallels to draw between the two.
I was excited just because the reason I wanted to
go is this was the last season of the stadium.
Their new facility is being built across the street, and
it was such a unique stadium because it never looked

(03:57):
like an NFL stadium. We may have talked to about
this carry on the Sunday Show, but I know during
the breaks we talked about that was the reason why
I wanted to go out. I wanted to see what
it was like at high Mark Stadium, because it looks
different than any of the other thirty one teams when
they're playing at home in the NFL. And then when
we got there, it actually looks like that, like it
looks a lot of times you go to a place

(04:18):
and it doesn't look the same as it does on TV.
It was what it was, and there was something about that.
There was something about the genuine excitement of the people,
the tailgate up and down the roads, just constant places
of people celebrating before the game. Yeah, it was very
close to a Green Bay sort of atmosphere.

Speaker 6 (04:37):
And what really jumps out carry is like the bare
bones aspect of the presentation. We've spoken recently about how
the NFL and other sports leagues feel the need to
like spice things up at their live events. In other words,
the actual gameplay isn't entertaining enough. We need to find
ways to entertained fans. But this, I think is one

(04:57):
of the last places you walk in and you're not
just overwhelmed with stimulus. You just are there to watch
a game with a bunch of people that really care
about it. And by the way, I walked away last
night thinking I'm pulling for the Bills. If my team
can't make it to the Super Bowl, if the Chargers
can't make it, I'm pulling for the Bills. And this
is the first time I felt this way that I

(05:19):
think this fan base deserves a championship.

Speaker 4 (05:21):
I really do they do?

Speaker 5 (05:22):
They obviously in the early nineties. We all know that's
well documented, all the success but non finality of success
that that team has experienced. And so yes, I think
there's no other fan base that deserves it as more
as much as they do as well. It truly feels
like when you walk in there, that that's their team.
Everybody there is invested in, you know, not just that moment,

(05:45):
not just that game, but even the weeks before, prior
or even after, like that is their team. And that's
and I and that's what I can tell you about
my experience there, Dan and Jason.

Speaker 4 (05:54):
It's it's when you walk in, it's not hostile.

Speaker 5 (05:57):
It doesn't feel hostile at all, Right, It's just they're
there to support their team at all costs and if
you're the opposing team, so be it. There's no no hostility.
It's just no, we're here to root on the Bills.
And that's what it feels like when I walked in there.

Speaker 3 (06:11):
So was it loud like with saying all that, like,
it was it difficult? I mean, you're on defense, so
I'm sure that they're not just lowed when the Bills
were on offense. But was was it ever loud? Or
is it just what you said it was.

Speaker 4 (06:23):
Yeah, I think it's just what I said it was.

Speaker 5 (06:25):
And I think that's also attributed to At that time
the Bills were up and down, right, they weren't the
powerhouse that they are right now at this moment, right,
So I think it comes and goes with that. Obviously,
the game experience is, like I said, fun, and they
are a loud against our offense, and that's part of it.
But they also were just kind of middle of the

(06:47):
pack when I played, so it probably is a little
bit step up as far as the intensity goes.

Speaker 4 (06:51):
Right now.

Speaker 3 (06:52):
I'll tell you the other part about it, and this
is we're in an era where every stadium they try
to look different, you know. So Far puts that shell
over the top of the seating bowl, so it's technically
still an outdoor facility, but you have a cover on
it with the open stuff. But a lot of places
in the National Football League are relatively the same. I

(07:14):
know there's different features. I'm not saying it's like the
cookie cutter ones that we had with Pittsburgh and Philadelphia
and Cincinnati back in the day, but it feels like
a lot of the new ones are like Okay, this
is the innovative new look because this is so old.
I also don't think that the stadium is built to
make it loud, so maybe that it doesn't have the
ability to get loud. We walked on there. There's like

(07:38):
no escalators or elevators taking you anywhere at this stadium.
The lower bowl is dug into the ground. That was
unique to me. Yeah, it was just it was you
could tell it was a stadium that was built in
the nineteen seventies and has lived out its life and
they'll move across the street next year. But it really
was unique and as a whole carry this is what

(07:59):
shocked me. But it didn't shock me. Jason and I
are at our hotel today. Leads story noon news. Buffalo
Bills top the Miami Dolphins. Right, that's got to be
the biggest story. People are missing work today because they
were at Highmark Stadium last night celebrating the victory. Then
you know what they went to after the highlights from

(08:20):
last night's game. They went to Sean McDermott live at
the podium. This is your noon news, not like two
arrested last night, you know, or a body was found here.
It was let's go to Sean McDermott. They then then
after Sean McDermott was live, went back to the highlight
package from last night and played more Sean McDermott from

(08:42):
last night's game. So the first eight minutes of the
twelve o'clock newscast, the new newscast that's thirty minutes long,
was dedicated to last night's went over the Miami Dolphins.

Speaker 4 (08:51):
That's crazy, that's insane.

Speaker 5 (08:52):
And the other thing, I'll tell you one more thing
about the noise, fact they're there. The other reason I
think that it's not as seemed as loud as other
places is because of the weather as well. So it's
such a windy place to play. And you guys probably
got a perfect day in September, but you know, mid
October on, like the wins are howling, right, and so

(09:13):
you also get that kind of I think there's like
a facade around the noise that kind of caresses it
and keeps it a little bit contained as well.

Speaker 3 (09:21):
The Bills were about an eleven and a half point
favorite last that going into the game against the Dolphins,
and not only do they almost did they not cover,
They could have lost the game. Yeah, if it's not
for the toua interception and plays here and plays there. Well.
I love the crowd young crowd too, Carrie. Like when
we talk about this fan base, ye, we mentioned the
college aspect of it. I think part of that is

(09:41):
how many young fans were at the game. But the
fans that were at the game and love the Buffalo
Bills also saw a team that was pretty much taken
to the wire by the Miami Dolphins in a game
that the Bills seem to have had the upper hand on,
but they let Miami back in the game. A missfield
goal cost them the offense. It's kind of stall, but
when Buffalo needed it, they got the plays that they

(10:03):
needed to make. They're three and oh yeah, very likely
on their way to being four and oh because the
Saints come to town next weekend. And I know we
can't guarantee anything in the National Football League, but five
and oh could also be on the horizon. Is then
they have a Monday night home game against the Patriots.
So three straight home games for the Bills, including next
week against the Saints, where they also get extra rest.
Three and oh right now, they were taken to the

(10:24):
wire with the Ravens and the Dolphins played them tough
last night, blew out the Jets last week. Are you
loving everything that you're seeing right now from the Buffalo Bills.

Speaker 5 (10:32):
The thing I'm asking about the Buffalo Bills is when
did the Bills become the Patriots and Josh Allen become
pre twenty ten Tom Brady. That's what I'm saying. When
I watch them play right now, they play no mistakes football,
like we're gonna make you make the mistakes. And that's
the way they are playing. That's the way the Patriots
played in my early part of my career. And the

(10:52):
other thing about you know the thing about when I
watched them, Alan isn't forcing anything. He's throwing the ball
to wherever. The guy that's open is being tated by
the defense. They're collectively just playing really smart football, well
balanced football. If you watch their team, and you look
at their team, they're not the most talented, they don't
have the most talented roster. So from that aspect, they
aren't like blowing me away when.

Speaker 4 (11:14):
I watch them play.

Speaker 5 (11:15):
Yeah, but they are winning and they remind me of
those Patriot teams early when I got there in two
thousand and five, two thousand and four or five six seven,
before they got Randy Moss, Tom Brady would throw to
the guy that was open, and that makes them even
more effective, and it makes Josh Allen the better quarterback.
And I think the world is seeing that, and I
think a lot of people are jumping on their bandwagon.
So that's my initial thing when I watch the Bills

(11:36):
right now. And Jason Stewart is not a resident hater.
Did you say thoughtful skeptic?

Speaker 3 (11:40):
Is that your your phrase just so much nicer?

Speaker 6 (11:43):
Doesn't it?

Speaker 3 (11:43):
Thoughtful skeptic? But as Jason says, like now that he's
experienced this Bills thing, he almost wants to root for them.
I know, and I think that you can get caught up,
and I honestly think that America gets caught up. And
I can see why, like the energy in this area
about this team is off the charts. But I also
al so don't think that it masks some of their issues.
And Alan was great. Alan is great, And there were

(12:07):
times last night where the Bills defense or offensive line
was pushing the Dolphins defensive line two three yards off
the line. You saw James Cook have a bunch of
big runs. My question is is when the going gets tough,
when things get tight, do they have something that they
can rely on, because it felt like at times during
last night that they didn't have that. That you couldn't
just sit there and hand the ball off to James

(12:28):
Cook five straight times and then have him get a
breather and have another guy come in that you're doing
a bunch of different things. I'm getting a little bit
of a sense here because we feel that this is
the year. This has to be the year for Buffalo.
Right finally hear of the stadium. They were so close
last year that it gets this little lion sense that
we had last year. Detroit last year peaked in weeks
ten and eleven. I just laid out how they're about

(12:50):
to go. I think Buffalo is going to go five
and oh to start the season. But how good is
this five and oh? And I look like a team
like Jason's Chargers, his real favorite team coming in, and
I think that they would be a nightmare matchup for
the Bills. So for as much as I want to
be believe as we saw last night, I still think that
there are flaws and I don't know at the core

(13:10):
of who the Buffalo Bills are if they are truly
good enough to navigate the bracket of the AFC and
go to a Super Bowl.

Speaker 5 (13:17):
Yeah, I think you're spot on with that, and it
kind of aligns with what I'm saying as well. It's
just the talent for them isn't there. Right, So if
they're playing a brand of football that's mistake free, we're
going to take what the defense give us and try
to be that team and commit to the run the
way they are and like I said, Josh Allen, throwing
the ball to whoever's open.

Speaker 4 (13:38):
That bodes well for them.

Speaker 5 (13:39):
But in those type moments when they are going to
get into a situation like you said, playing the Chargers
or playing the Ravens, or playing teams that are on
their level, so to speak, as far as the team goes,
then that's what we're really going to see. I mean,
we kind of saw that in Baltimore, but I don't
think we would say, oh no, some people may, but
I don't think people will say that Buffalo won game

(14:00):
rather than Baltimore.

Speaker 4 (14:01):
Losing that game.

Speaker 5 (14:02):
Right, So I think, yeah, it comes to those moments
when it gets to the nitty gritty, do they have
enough playmakers? On the outside to win right now, I
think that's up up in the air. And defensively, their
secondary is not that great. I mean, you got there.
I guess I would say their best corners to deverye
as White. Right, he's older, he's not a guy that
can stick with, you know, top receivers in this league.

(14:23):
So we'll see. It's gonna it's gonna be a long season.
But again, starting off four to oh, five and oh
isn't a bad deal.

Speaker 3 (14:29):
They did take Maxwell Harriston with that first round pick,
but again, he was injured in training camp, so you're
maybe hoping you can get an upgrade for that. Tredevius
White last night had Tua in his crosshairs and two
a just side stepped him and ended up making a
big play. They're three and oh. I just don't think
that they're perfect yet. And I think that we're going
to fall in love with Josh Allens twenty two to
twenty eight, three touchdown passes. Allen's magnificent, There's no doubt

(14:51):
about that. Like he's the type of thrower he is
is great. But really, where the Bills are and what's
going on in the first three weeks of the season.
I'm not sure as they're going to be as dominant
as their record I think will appear to be after
week five. He is Carrie Roads, the all pro and
starters since day one. Get him at carry twenty five Roads.

of the conversation from last night, carry and that's the

(17:14):
Dolphins dropping to Owen three. I feel like we are
talking about the Dolphins always for the first three weeks
of the season. I don't know if it's because Mike
McDaniel is on the hot seat, if he's the one
that we think is likely going to get fired first.
I've heard referendums on TUA for the past three weeks.
I felt like we've had referendums on TUA for the

(17:34):
past two years. Why do you think that we continue
to talk about these Miami Dolphins when they're Owen three
to start this NFL season.

Speaker 5 (17:41):
Yeah, they got a lot of fuel for us to
talk about. Right We have a discrownold wide receiver number one,
who is obviously in the news and even got a
unceremoniously was unceremoniously mentioned last night on air, So we
know that's one thing the quarterback obviously has struggled with
staying healthy. He had a year where he was really, really,

(18:03):
really good and you couldn't win in the playoffs, and
we thought that there was some hope there and then
that's kind of dwindled. And now you got a head
coach that came in hot, unique, quirky to start, and
now he's just been bad and the team has been bad.
So I think there's fuel for the fire. But again,
this team coming into the year, I expected them to

(18:25):
be finished fourth in that division and right now it's
holding up that way. They don't do anything great. I
don't even think they do anything well, So yeah, they're
in the bad situation right now.

Speaker 3 (18:36):
We'll dive more into the Dolphins and Bills and what
Week three has in the National Football League schedule. Mark
dominic car weekly guest on the Doug Gottlieb Show, former
GM of the Buccaneers, is going to join us in
sixty seconds, but first, Isaac Lohncron is here with the
latest of what's happening on this Friday. Isaac, what's going on?

Speaker 8 (18:52):
So glad that you guys had a wonderful time in
Buffalo last night. What a great experience, real happy for you.
Did you, guys see MONSI there by the.

Speaker 3 (18:58):
Way I know, the way idea from me, the way
I think said it.

Speaker 8 (19:05):
I didn't.

Speaker 4 (19:06):
I didn't know if he was being really serious there.

Speaker 8 (19:08):
It was a little you know what I mean, he
saw he saw the twinkle in my eye. Top story
of the day, A whole bunch of NFL status updates
for Sunday, fellas, Let's get right to it. The Washington
Commanders officially ruling out quarterback Jaden Daniels for Sunday's game
against the Raiders because of a sprain. Named Marcus Mariota
will start at quarterback. Mariota last started the game in

(19:29):
twenty twenty two for the Atlanta Falcons. Kansas City Chiefs
listed receiver Xavier Worthy as questionable for Sunday Night's game
against the New York Giants due to his shoulder injury.
Worthy did not play last week against the Eagles after
dislocating his shoulder and the season opener against the Chargers
in a collision with teammate Travis Kelsey. The Tampa Bay
Buccaneers ruled out receiver Chris Godwin and offensive tackle Tristan

(19:52):
Wurfs for Sunday's game against the Jets. Cleveland Browns placekicker
Andre Schmidt injured his left calf in practice today. He's
going to have an MRII and has been listed as
questionable for their game Sunday against the Packers. Brown's listed
offensive lineman Joel Botonio and Jack Conklin as questionable as
well due to injury. Finally, in the NBA Miami Heat,

(20:13):
All Star guard Tyler Hero having surgery on his left
foot and ankle today and is expected to miss the
start of the regular season.

Speaker 6 (20:20):
Guys, back to.

Speaker 3 (20:21):
You, thank you very much Isaac. Joining us now is
Mark Dominic, former GM of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Over
twenty years experience in NFL front offices, and I guess
the question that we got leading into last night's game
that Jason Stewart and myself were able to attend in person. Mark,
first of all, welcome in great to talk to you again.
I think it's our first time during the twenty twenty
five NFL season. How are you?

Speaker 9 (20:43):
I am good, Dan, good to be on and yeah,
it's a great start for the Buffalo Bills. Even though
it was an interesting game against Sales Dolphins.

Speaker 3 (20:50):
What why would Miami. Would Miami have any reason to
this miss Mike McDaniel after this zero to three start.
I know it's not what they thought, but it seems
to be the topic a conversation. He has the shortest
odds of any coach in the NFL of the first
one being dismissed, and there was talk of, boy if
they get blown out last night, like the acts could
come down with Mike McDaniel. What does the Dolphins front

(21:12):
office have to decide when it comes to McDaniel in
his future with the Dolphins And would it be prudent
if they made a move this early in the season.

Speaker 9 (21:19):
So I don't think I would make a move right now.
And I've got to think ownership's also not just looking
at for you know, the head coach, but they probably
are looking at the front office. I mean, Chris Career
has been there for a long time. He hasn't always
been the GM. He's a good dude, everything like that,
but you know, at some point you got to start
pointing fingers, maybe at the roster as much as you
are at the head coach. Now. Yeah, easy for me

(21:40):
to say from my home, I'd look at it this
way fellaws. These next two games are going to decide,
right they play the Jets in the Panthers. If they
slip up against one of those teams, I think there
is a good chance that you're going to sit there
and see a change within the organization. They're going to
move on and they say, he look, we understand what
we're going to be first in line. It's a long season,
but you know, they we'll see the fact that the

(22:01):
season's over. So I would think that they're going to
give him the next two games no matter what, and
if that doesn't work, you could see something like Anthony
Weaver becoming the head coach, interim head coach, and them
starting to understand that they've got to rebuild the whole
thing all over again. So I think two more weeks
is prudent. I think firing him right now would be
a terrible decision.

Speaker 5 (22:19):
See, Mark's really good. He already tapped on where I
was going to go with my next question. If they
were to fire McDaniel at this point, who would be
the possible replacement. You just said that Anthony Weaver possibly,
But I have another question as well, Mark, when you're
scouting a young quarterback to come in and be the
leader of your franchise and possibly be the needle mover,

(22:40):
like what are you looking for in that guy? Attributes
and on the field stuff like what are you looking
for for that guy?

Speaker 9 (22:49):
Yeah, you know, I mean obviously you want somebody that
people can respond to, that knows how to connect with guys,
that has the right personality. But you're also looking forward
just as the guy that tough you know, certainly can
handle a lot of you know, the toughness that that
position takes mentally and physically, And that's a big piece
of the puzzle to me of where I would want
to really make sure that I've got the right guy

(23:10):
in the building. And so, you know, mentally and physically tough. Uh,
you know, the arm strength. Everybody likes arm strengthen, But
we've seen enough quarterbacks where you know, arm talent's important,
but it's not to be all end all. It's the
character of the person. Like it's Kerry. You've been around
a long time. You've seen a lot of different quarterbacks, right,
and so you get a sense of like when the
guy walks through him, does he have this you know,

(23:32):
quiet confidence where he doesn't have to tell everybody how
great he is or is he? You know, a guy
that's like reminding everybody like how you know I was
really good and you know, joking around about how great
his college tape was. It's for going to know what's
talking about his crotape, so you know, and I think
that's the one thing I always and I've said this
on here with Dan, with you, with you know, Doug
obviously Carrie. You know I've said all along prior to
Caleb Williams getting drafted, I said, I think he thinks

(23:54):
it's too easy. I think he's going to come in
the league and find out it's a lot harder than
people think. And if you don't put the I'm in
the right way, you're going to struggle in this league.
I don't care what count level you have, You're going
to struggle because it's just not as easy. It's not
the same. The fields, the same, end zones, the same,
this yards are the same. Yard is the same, but
it isn't the same. It's so much faster, it's so
much more physical. And you know that's where you know,

(24:17):
when you heard about the bad news about Jaden Daniels
this week, but when you heard about Jaden Daniels work
at the class year, You're like, Okay, I got to
believe that that's going to be the right thing. So,
you know, it comes down to that.

Speaker 3 (24:28):
Mark Dominic joining us here on Fox Sports Radio. He's
carry Roads. I'm Dan Byer in for Doug Gottlieb today
on the Doug Gottlieb Show. I've said to carry because
we team up on Sunday afternoons during the late window
of games, that I'm not as worried about the backup
quarterback position because I feel if you have to go
to the backup quarterback, you're probably now falling five lengths

(24:49):
behind where you were. Anyway, has that backup quarterback position
changed at all in your mind? Mark, with how much
it feels this is just my perception, but how much
it feels the game is so quarterback heavy. How do
you look at the backup quarterback position now in the NFL?

Speaker 9 (25:07):
Well, I find it. If I was still in it,
I find it very critical. I cannot have a quarterback
go down week two or three and turn to my
owner and say, hey, the season's over, like I think
you're fired, right, you know, And so I'm a believer
that you better have something that you feel like can
get you through those humps and and it can get
you through a situation where your team can stay competitive.

(25:31):
You know, we're going to see what Jake Browning can do.
You know, thankfully he had a nice final series, but
you know there was three interceptions before that and it
was sure, you know, very very scary, and the Bengals
are uber talented and so this is a really tough spot,
like to the point where it's not the Bengal m
But you have to call Atlanta. You have to call
and just see if Kirk Cousins available just for the

(25:51):
rest of the year, if you can find a way
to make and I know it's a salary cap thing
and Atlanta may not want to do anything, but you'd
be a fool not to call and at least find
out what's going on there, right, And so those are
things that you got to really kind of make sure
you're comfortable. And I think you also see a team
like the Raiders who valued it more than I thought.
Thing would you know, Aidan O'Connell sadly gets hurt and
they'd go give a real pickaway to get you know,

(26:13):
pick it back in there to at least be a
number two behind Geno Smith because they're like, we got No. One,
and so I think it's more important. I think it's
something I would pay attention to. And I think the
value of the backup quarterback in terms of monetarily should
be fairly significant. So you can go to a Jimmy
Garoppolo or Marcus Mariota. I feel like we're having a
little ble throwback week this week with some of the
names that are going to come back out on the
starting blocks for quarterbacks. But you know, they have a

(26:37):
Marcus Mariota and you know, and then a Josh Johnson
who's his backup? Like that, they obviously value the quarterback.
You've got Jade Daniels and Marcus Mariota and Josh Johnson.
That's a lot of experience and a lot of good guys.
I had Josh Johnson and Tampa Bay. We drafted them
back in two thousand and eight, and you know, everybody's
graves of Marcus Mariota. So talk about a quarterback room
that's just amazing. The commanders, I think prepared for a

(26:59):
situation where hope it's on your week, but at least
you're prepared.

Speaker 3 (27:01):
Yeah, it's no twenty eighteen in the NFL, right with
some of the names go back seven years.

Speaker 5 (27:08):
It's crazy, So Mark, I mean, we're three weeks in,
and obviously we live in a business where we have
to make proclamations ourselves and and kind of lead the
conversation from our voice. But looking at the teams we've
seen so far, I think coming into the year, we
thought it was going to be heavy AFC dominance in
the top teams in that division, was probably going to
be the team that won the Super Bowl this year.

(27:29):
But we have some guys in the NFC that are
stepping up. Do you do you see this season being
one that anybody can win it it's up for grabs,
which the NFL usually kind of has that energy, But
or do you think it's a top heavy somebody from
the top teams are going to win this thing?

Speaker 9 (27:47):
You know? I feel it's certainly when you think about
the AFC, it's to me, it's it's really a three
team race. And and I just feel like it's it's
the Buffle Bills on see, it's the Baltimore Ravens, And
I think that's very fair to say. And I think
it's the Chargers. I think it's those three. And you know,
having my first job ever being Kansas City, I've always

(28:09):
been a Chief fan, I just don't feel like it's
there on the offensive line this year. I think it's
going to be a problem while here where they're just
going to be struggling. And I think it's just those three,
you know, the Bengals with if they can stay in
position to get a playoff spot like last year, We're like,
if they came into the seventh seed, everybody wouldn't want
to plan them. I'd feel the same way about the
Bengals if they can make it in. I just have
a hard time believing that they're going to be able
to pull in the victories out just because of that

(28:30):
position so critical in the NFC. I just think the
Green Bay Packers have said everything already, just in a
couple of weeks, Right, you take care of Detroit, I
mean you just you know, Detroit turns around and just walks,
you know. So it's it's it feels like it's their division. Certainly,
you cannot knock down Philadelphia whatsoever. In San Francisco's playing
more like they should play. We'll see how they keep

(28:51):
it up in Tampa's they should walk through their division.
But I don't know where Campa is fully, so, I mean,
I feel like it's really Packers and Eagles are the five.
When you talk by AFCN NSC, I've got five teams.
I say, I could see that those are the five
teams I think they get there. Can Detroit find it? Yes?
I still think of the teams that are one and
one that you're looking at, going, well, how'd that start?
You know? I think that's the one team if you're

(29:12):
looking at O and two, the team that you know,
it's either Cancider Houston should find a way to clo
out of their situation. But no one should be surprised
as the Giants, the Bears, the you know, the Panthers
of the Saints are owen too. I don't think that's
a big surprise. Sadly, it's not like I like to
see that, But I just think that that's not a
big surprise.

Speaker 3 (29:30):
Mark Dominic joining us here at Fox Sports Radio. Last
one for me. You mentioned the Chiefs. You just mentioned
the Giants. They play on Sunday Night. How much of
an indictment is in on Brian Daboll and Joe Shane
to see the first two weeks that Daniel Jones have
had has had with the Indianapolis Golds.

Speaker 9 (29:46):
Danny Dimes Jones, you know what I gotta You've got
to sit there and look at their not their scouting acumen,
but their decision making so right. And why I say
that is sick on Barkley. Obviously the owner's got to
be staring at the same thing, going, wait a second,
we let's take one walk out. He's a star. We
now we're letting Daniel Jones walk out. And he's like,

(30:08):
what are we doing here? Like what is actually where
are we messing up? And so is personnel messing up
on the evaluation of our own players or coaches messing
up because they're not you know, it's the same coach
that you know had Trubisky looking like a superstar, right,
so everybody's like fired up and let's see what he
can do. It's a it's a to me, it's it's
very scary and and I don't think they survive if

(30:30):
this Giants team goes anywhere double digit losses. So if
there's seven and ten or or less as loyal as
Giants ownership generally is, I don't see them being loyal
enough to hold on to as I go seven and
ten or worse.

Speaker 3 (30:44):
I think then that there's going to be new leadership
that is positive. Even when Russell Wilson has a great
game like he did on Sunday as the bad interception
and overtime, and it's like, even when things are going well, uh,
they still don't work.

Speaker 5 (30:59):
And Dan and Mark, I think day Ball also was
beginning a lot of credit for Josh Allen as well.

Speaker 4 (31:03):
So that's the part that's kind of be fuddling to me.

Speaker 9 (31:05):
Right exactly, it's very fair, but I think Josh Allen
deserves as much credit as Brian Daviles for sure. Right yeah,
And that's the hard part, and that's the tricky part.
It's like, what's the player's growth? And yes, the coach
absolutely has something to do with it. I mean, what
was it Tom Brady was talking. He goes, somebody out
there has the thirty second worst quarterback coach in the league.

(31:26):
Right now. That's a great point, you know, And that's
just the reality is that you know the coaching and situations.
But I give I give day Ball credit, but Josh Allen,
to me, his uh, what a great.

Speaker 3 (31:38):
Story for sure, Mark, we appreciate the time. Enjoy Week three.
We'll talk to you next week.

Speaker 4 (31:42):
All right, Mark, love it?

Speaker 9 (31:43):
Yeah, Enjoy.

Speaker 6 (31:44):
Guy.

to make that upset? We'll answer it next to here
on Fox.

Speaker 2 (32:42):
Be sure to catch the live edition of The Doug
Gottlieb Show weekdays at three pm Eastern noon Pacific.

Speaker 3 (32:48):
Doug Gottlieb Show, Fox Sports Radio. I'm Dan Byer, He's
the all pro Carry Rhoads sitting in Fort Doug on
this Friday. Jason Stewart's our executive producer. Jason and I
are in Western New York at our Fox Sports Radio
affiliate hometown thirteen forty w lvl's. We watched the Bills
top the Dolphins last night. Carrie did so from the
comforts of his own living room and watching that game line.

(33:12):
All right, here's my question to you, Carrie Rhoads. Were
there more touchdown passes thrown last night? Or beers drunk
by Jason Stewart. Let's let's find out there were there
were more touchdown passes thrown last night, don't look at
the stats or more more brew skis hugged down by
Jason Stewart.

Speaker 5 (33:31):
Josh had three, two, had one two, So five, Yeah,
let's five. Jason Stewart definitely drank more than five beers.

Speaker 4 (33:44):
I would have drunk.

Speaker 6 (33:45):
You would be right if I if I fellas made
of money, if money fell off of trees, I would
have had more than four. So the h four beers
four the bat blues by the way, Western New York's final.

Speaker 3 (33:57):
All right, Homer, it's time to redeem yourself. Although it's
in a game that we don't keep store, it's time
for game time.

Speaker 2 (34:12):
This is game time on the Doug Gottlieb Show.

Speaker 3 (34:19):
Three beers in at the news desk is Isaac long
Kron No, just kidding. That is frowned upon. Actually I
think it's against company policy. Hello Isaac.

Speaker 8 (34:26):
That might be the case, but you're only numerically incorrect.
It's four our game today, is what Jason Stewart said
to mister Lebat multiple times last night. I got dims,
all right, gang gather around.

Speaker 2 (34:41):
First.

Speaker 3 (34:41):
I was Sam's here as well to play.

Speaker 2 (34:43):
I didn't jue.

Speaker 3 (34:44):
Iowa Sam, so I was Sam's here to hang out
as well.

Speaker 8 (34:46):
Good to be here and I have a feeling he'll
be jumping in on this first item, upset of the
weekend NFL college football. Something your kids are going to
say to you that'll make you upset. How do you
guys got DIBs on?

Speaker 3 (35:01):
I got DIBs on an NFL matchup in Nashville. There's
no way that the Colts are going to be three
and zero. These have been feisty Colts. Should have lost
last week. It evens out this week. Cam Ward gets
his first win as an NFL quarterback as the Titans
upset the Colts in Nashville.

Speaker 4 (35:23):
Well done, all right, all right, that's a good one.

Speaker 5 (35:25):
I got DIBs as well on an NFL game as well.

Speaker 4 (35:29):
And it's gonna be that late Sunday night game. And
I think that.

Speaker 5 (35:33):
I think the Giants at home are going to beat
the Chiefs and they're going to be oh and three
to start the season.

Speaker 4 (35:39):
Wow, yep, the true man. G man baby.

Speaker 6 (35:43):
There are some home teams getting a lot of points
this weekend. So I'm gonna go with Cleveland getting it
looks like eight or eight and a half if you're lucky.
Cleveland to beat the Packers at home with eight and
a half points.

Speaker 8 (35:55):
Wait a minute, outright or just to cover?

Speaker 6 (35:58):
That's a great question. I guess I misread the question.
I'm going to go with the Brown's outright than you.

Speaker 10 (36:05):
I got DIBs on Nebraska a slight home underdog upsetting
number twenty one Michigan in Lincoln.

Speaker 3 (36:15):
That's like if Kerrie Jackson was at that game, it probably.

Speaker 8 (36:20):
Lily big horses on that big offensive line.

Speaker 6 (36:24):
Well, I tell you, sir.

Speaker 8 (36:25):
Corn Huskers and Wolverines a whole lot of things.

Speaker 3 (36:28):
Hold on, do we have Keith Jackson in the booth
with Keith Jackson.

Speaker 2 (36:37):
Orderly granddaddy of them are?

Speaker 4 (36:40):
That's right?

Speaker 3 (36:42):
It's a Keith Jackson off the Jackson Keith Jackson off,
like shorting.

Speaker 6 (36:47):
That the Jackson off Jackson off.

Speaker 8 (36:51):
I think Jackson five might be a better title than that.

Speaker 3 (36:56):
I said that the cover band playing out at the
out of Hallmark Stadium last night should be called the
Fred Jackson five. I thought that that would be perfect.

Speaker 10 (37:03):
That's good, right, former Co Kohawk, I believe Fred Jackson?

Speaker 6 (37:07):
Right?

Speaker 8 (37:07):
Yeah, well in honor of Coe right, yes, yes, yes
Co College, and yes in Iowa that's where.

Speaker 2 (37:16):
Bill Fitch went.

Speaker 6 (37:16):
If I'm not mistaken, all right.

Speaker 8 (37:19):
So, by the way, first time Bill Fitch has been
mentioned on sports soccer radio in about forty years. All right,
next item, in honor of Dan and Jason's great adventure.
Got what you got DIBs on American landmarks or destinations
that you'd like to make a similar journey to American
landmarks slash destinations.

Speaker 3 (37:38):
Just to clarify, we're right by Niagara Falls, So I'm
going to Niagara Falls tomorrow, except I realized I forgot
my passport, so I can't cross the border. Now It'm
only going to be on the American side. But that's
why this question is in place and the only I'm
going to weigh in and just say Smoky Mountains. Yes,
in East Tennessee. I'm a big Smoky Mountains fan. Me
and my wife went about nine years ago with the

(38:00):
fall colors were turned. No better place, no place I'd
rather be than then the Smoky Mountains of the Fall.
Absolutely is that Dollywood? Yeah, yeah, yeah, I got dips
on the Grand Canyon.

Speaker 6 (38:11):
My dad and mom I think took me when I
was eighteen months old or maybe two years old, on
their way from New York to California. I don't remember.

Speaker 4 (38:20):
It.

Speaker 6 (38:21):
I got to go back and see it. The Grand Canyon,
I got dips.

Speaker 5 (38:25):
Huh, I got DIBs on. I've been a lot of
places in this world, but in America, no, you know
what I mean. I've been around dan but you know
we heard but here it'll be Mountain Russmore. I have
never seen that, right, And so to go and see
the monuments there and see those heads at Stonstone on

(38:46):
the side of a mountain would be kind of cool
to see. And obviously I've been watching documentary on how
it was built and how many people lost their lives
doing it.

Speaker 4 (38:54):
Yeah, so I would definitely want to check it out.
And there's so much to do in the state of
South Dakota.

Speaker 10 (38:59):
The Black Hills, Uh, you have the bad Lands, you
have Crazy Horse Memorial, which isn't too far away from
Mount Rushmore.

Speaker 4 (39:04):
And South Dakota underrated the list. No, they're underrated.

Speaker 10 (39:09):
Underrated State of South Dakota.

Speaker 3 (39:11):
Beautiful in South day that.

Speaker 8 (39:13):
South Dakota is without peer.

Speaker 6 (39:15):
Get it all right? Next?

Speaker 4 (39:16):
Wait, wait, I had I had DIBs on.

Speaker 10 (39:18):
I have DIBs on a place in Philadelphia called Eastern
State Penitentiary, And it's kind of the it's like the Alcatraz. No,
it's an old one of America's oldest prisons, if not
the oldest, but it's kind of the Alcatraz of the
East Coast. It's just this, basically, this huge fort in
the middle of this neighborhood in Philadelphia, and you've got
these old cells and al Capone stayed there for a
little while.

Speaker 4 (39:38):
It is so cool, and.

Speaker 10 (39:39):
People don't know about it like they know about Alcatraz,
Eastern State Penitentiary and Philadelphia.

Speaker 4 (39:43):
Check it out.

Speaker 8 (39:44):
Was Capone's visit voluntary or final item? Rapid fire. Annoying
airline things all start. People who remove their shoes and
or socks.

Speaker 10 (39:55):
Your feet, swell your ankles, swell you gotta translation, you
do so do I Isaac?

Speaker 4 (40:01):
Sorry? Your feet? It all swallowez.

Speaker 3 (40:07):
How about this when when the flight attendant says, do
you want pretzels? And you say yes, and then they
give you the checks mix. I just wanted pretzels. This
cheese thing with it.

Speaker 4 (40:17):
I got DIBs.

Speaker 10 (40:18):
I got DIBs on excessive talking over the intercom by
the pilot and flight attendant. It's too loud and it
goes on too much, with too much stuff. I don't
care about got it, I got.

Speaker 5 (40:28):
I got DIBs on people standing up and trying to
beat the beat the crowd, like, where are you going?
Nobody's going any faster.

Speaker 8 (40:36):
I'm guilty charge that you and your socks and me
standing up. That's that's game time.

Speaker 3 (40:46):
That is game time. He's carried roads. I'm Dan Byer.
We say goodbye to a legend. Next on Fox,
