Speaker 2 (00:18):
I thought Robert Morris was maybe gonna do it Aaron
Torres a two fifteen. I don't know if it's a scare,
but they gave Alabama everything they could ask for and more. Today.
Speaker 3 (00:30):
Well, I'll tell you this. We were on air in
this spot yesterday. If we're gonna if we're gonna criticize
Auburn for winning by twenty, I think we probably got it.
As a one seed. We probably got to criticize Alabama
winning by nine. By the way, I want to come
in with a super hot take off the top. They
just showed a Robert Morris cheerleader crying. I think everybody,
(00:50):
it's twenty twenty five. You're allowed to express your emotions
however you want. Weren't you like a thirty eight point underdog,
Like is this some shocking result that you just couldn't
see coming? That is all the emotions, so inconsiderate.
Speaker 2 (01:04):
Don't cry that it's over. Smile because it happens. That's
what I'm saying. Yes, you made the big dance.
Speaker 3 (01:10):
Wouldn't it have been incredible if you had beaten Alabama? Yes,
but don't act like this is like the most stunning
result that has ever happened in the And I don't know.
I feel bad now now I'm just being mean off
the top. And I'm not a mean guy.
Speaker 2 (01:23):
So I think that CBS, t n T, TBS, True
TV have someone designated to find criers in the crowd,
no doubt, There is no doubt whenever that happens. By
the way, here comes Nato. He talks out the side
of his mouth a lot. He's a Wisconsin guy, but
not a lot of people talk like this from Wisconsin.
(01:44):
He does it. He does it though he does.
Speaker 3 (01:46):
By the way, not only are they not only are
the the CBS and Turner camera people on top of
the criers.
Speaker 2 (01:53):
Uh, I'll give him credit.
Speaker 3 (01:55):
They're they're on top of and this is gonna sound
where they're on top of the wives and families.
Speaker 2 (01:59):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (02:00):
I've been watching college basketball for a very long time,
certainly since Bill self has been the head coach at Kansas.
I don't think I've ever seen his wife until last night. Also,
Sean Miller, I had never seen his wife until the
first four game against Texas. So you know the you know,
the cameraman, the camera woman is on top of everything.
Speaker 2 (02:20):
They don't miss the thing. What about nat Oats's wife?
I have ever seen my wife in the stands. I
know this doesn't work on radio because I again I'm
side talking out of my mouth, but I don't even
know if it sounds remotely close to NATO's does Maybe
we could get some natoates postgame and we can oh
compare mine.
Speaker 3 (02:37):
Is this like when everyone tried to do the Andrew
Luck impressions back of the day.
Speaker 2 (02:40):
Are you the first Natotes impression? Are you the real start?
Speaker 4 (02:44):
No?
Speaker 3 (02:44):
I like it because as a college basketball junkie, I
know what you're talking about. I don't know how much
of America does, but I think I thought it was
actually very on point.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
We are broadcasting live for the tyreq dot com studios.
Tyreq dot com will help you get there an unmetch selection,
fast free shipping, free road as a protection and over
ten thousand recommended installers, tyrerec dot Com, the way tire
buying should be. We're gonna have more turny talk. We're
gonna discuss what happened last night coming up in about
fifteen minutes, because there were some happenings in the NCAA
(03:12):
tournament that you may have missed. Plus we're gonna take
Friday's action. Some good so far, Mississippi State and Baylor
played a good one. We just told you Alabama got
all they could handle. We'll see if Colorado State can
save the face of the Mountain West Conference. A lot
to get to New Mexico playing Marquette today as an
opportunity to do that as well. But all that's coming
up later on the show. But we must start. We
(03:33):
must start with the seventeen point effort that rocked the world,
the NBA's world, as Bronnie James has seventeen points off
the bench to lead the Lakers to a twenty nine
point loss to the Milwaukee Bucks. That's what happened last
night in the NBA. The Lakers didn't have lebron James,
(03:56):
they didn't have Luka Doncic, they didn't have Austin Reeves.
It was a throwaway game the Bucks didn't have Damian Lillard.
But the story is Bronnie James scoring seventeen points coming
off the bench, playing thirty minutes for the Lakers, you know,
one to eighteen eighty nine loss to Milwaukee.
Speaker 3 (04:14):
So listen, it's gonna make me sound like the uh,
the ultimate hater. I don't hate Bronnie. I wish him
nothing but luck. But you know what this means, Dan Byer.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
Yes, what does it mean?
Speaker 3 (04:27):
Absolutely nothing? Okay, So here's about the mine. There's a
funny thing in the NBA called injuries, and when injuries happen,
by default, someone has to play. And when someone plays,
by default, someone has to put up stats. Right like,
by the way, we've always heard of the good stats,
(04:47):
bad team guy, the Jordan Poole's maybe, you know, dropping
twenty eight for the Washington Wizards, and it means nothing.
You look at the NBA, it is and beyond the
NBA it is litter with below average players that because
they have to play because of injuries, they put up
stats because somebody has to put the ball in the basket.
(05:10):
I don't want to be a hater, it's just a fact.
I remember it was funny for some reason this popped
into my head. But there is a player named Matthew Hurt.
Are you familiar with Matthew Hurt? Are you familiar with
his game?
Speaker 2 (05:23):
I prided myself on basketball, but it was unfamiliar to me.
It hurt me to not know his name. Okay, so
Matthew Hurt. I remember sitting here last year in this studio.
It was on a Sunday. I believe I was filling
in with Mark Willard. He played for the Memphis Grizzlies,
and it was the end of the year. If you remember,
you know, John Moran obviously has the awful knee injury.
(05:44):
He's out.
Speaker 3 (05:44):
Then you have a bunch of other injuries by the
end of the year. Let's just say that they're not
playing the cream of the lost cause. Yeah, lost cause
went back and looked it up because I seem to
remember this. Matthew Hurt dropped thirty points in a game
for the Memphis Grizzlies last year. Let me ask you this,
Do you think he got a MAX extension out of that?
Speaker 2 (06:03):
Probably not? Did not?
Speaker 3 (06:05):
Do you think Let me ask you this, how many
thirty point games do you think he's had since that?
Speaker 2 (06:10):
This season?
Speaker 3 (06:10):
In the endb I would probably say zero. Well, how
about I'll take it a step further. He's played zero
NBA games this year, although I did see on his
Instagram that he's having a very good season in the
Australian Basketball League the ABL or it's the NBL, Actually
it's the National Basketball League in Australia, where he's playing
for the Southeast Melbourne Phoenix. Okay, this is a guy
(06:34):
who scored thirty points a year ago. Nobody cared, nobody
made it a big deal. He was playing on a bad,
injury riddle team and someone had to put the ball
in the basket. And so I'm sorry if Bronni does
this consistently.
Speaker 2 (06:47):
If it's Game.
Speaker 3 (06:48):
Six of the Western Conference Finals against the Nuggets and
Luca's passing the ball to him like he's Ray Allen
for the Miami Heat and he's hitting the game winner
to send him the finals, I will change the take.
But a random dude going off for a random number
of points on a random night for an injury filled
team does not move the needle in the Torus household.
Speaker 2 (07:08):
How about that? Do you think, first of all, do
you feel bad in saying anything that you said over
the last couple of minutes. Is there any point where
you feel bad about it?
Speaker 3 (07:17):
I don't know, And do you want me to take
half a second to explain, yes, I'd love to. There
is a part of me, actually I don't feel bad
about what I said. What I do feel bad about
is that it is hard for me to separate how
Bronnie got into the NBA versus what he will do
(07:39):
going forward now as an NBA player. In other words,
it's not that I dislike that his father, like so
many fathers, took an opportunity to help his son advance
his professional career, but it is still hard for me
to take him seriously as an NBA player, which is
why I made the reference to Rayal and if he's
doing this later in the season, NBA playoffs next season,
(08:00):
two years from now, three years from now on a
consistent basis, that's fine.
Speaker 2 (08:03):
But I still have that in my head though.
Speaker 3 (08:06):
Whatever it was two point eight points per game at
USC last year, that would not have been drafted if
his name was anything other than Bronnie James.
Speaker 2 (08:13):
I'm gonna say I feel bad for what I'm about
to say because I do think that if you score
seventeen points in an NBA game, whether it comes in
late season action with the Memphis Grizzlies or it comes
with the Los Angeles Lakers when none of their top
three players are starring. I think it's that's something to
be applauded now. It happens all the time in the NBA,
(08:35):
if you will to your point, there are other players
on the Lakers. Gave Vincent's been in the NBA for
a while. The Dalton Cannex scored seventeen. He was the
first round pick, did so on less efficient shooting than
Bronni had last night. I feel bad because I feel
like we're raining on Bronni's parade when he's taking these
(08:57):
baby steps, and these baby steps now have gotten to
the point I will admit I never thought that Bronnie
James would score seventeen points in an NBA game when
he was drafted in the second round of the draft.
And that's where I feel a little bit guilty. Yeah,
and I feel guilty about it as well, But I
also look at this scenario of it's never been about
Bronnie James. Yes, and that's why this is so This
(09:21):
is so darn difficult to deal with. Because I don't
want to hate on Bronnie James. By every account of
any interaction with Bronnie James, including the Athletic article that
was written this week by Joe Varden, I think Bronnie
James comes off as a great kid, an absolute great kid.
(09:42):
It's the situation that he was put in that I
can't get passed. Now. At some point, Aaron, you and
I are gonna have to get past this. I agree.
Part of it's a meat problem, yes, And it's just
there's gonna be a point where we have to just
look at Bronnie James and say, alright, he's an NBA player.
That's how we're going to look at him. But it
was so difficult for me to accept what happened last night,
(10:05):
on the night that it happened, because it happened on
a night that was the first round of the NCAA tournament.
And if Bronnie James could develop his game to the
effect where he can score seventeen points in an NBA game,
what could he have done another year at USC or
at Duquane or somewhere else where he maybe could have
(10:26):
transferred and had success and led that team maybe to
an nc doublea tournament game, had twenty seven points in
a first round tournament game, leading that school to victory.
If that happens, if that happens last night, instead of
you and me and others picking apart Bronni's performance, we
are lifting Bronnie up on our shoulders and we are
(10:49):
talking about what a great atmosphere it was in the
arena that he was in, the star that he is.
That's the disappointing thing for me, which goes all the
way back to the decision to have Bronnie James enter
the NBA Draft when he wasn't ready. Now, at some
point you and I will have to get over this,
and other people are going to have to get over this.
(11:10):
It's just not going to happen when we're watching first
round games and players that I honestly think Bronnie James
is capable of playing with and doing what he did
and if he can make that progress that he did
this season with the Lakers, and maybe the G League
has allowed him to do that, and you wouldn't do
that in a college program, but I think there would
be growth. Who knows if Bronnie's biggest growth as a
(11:31):
player came from last summer to now, like that could
have been the opportunity for him to flourish. And if
you stay in school, which by the way, greatest time
of anyone's life by and large, for anybody that has
gone to college and you asked them, what's the best
time in your life? A lot of times here, you
know what my college years. I would do anything to
have those years back. Sure we love our childhood, but
(11:53):
you're missing out on the experience. You're missing out about
doing that stuff. And I don't expect people to say
that you really care about Bronnie James's experience. No, it
just goes back to the decision that is unlike any
other where you have Bronnie James put in a spot
where a team is forced to draft him and then
carry him along in his career. And that's the problem
(12:15):
that I have. I felt like last night would have
been an amazing night or tonight where Bronnie James is
starring in the NCAA Animal it's a great analogy.
Speaker 3 (12:22):
No, it's an amazing analogy, and it would have felt
good because what is the word or I don't know
what words you've used to describe the Bronnie James experience
so far. By the way, Cooper Flagg just scored his
first NCAA tournament basket as well, so he is on
the floor and playing and it looks pretty close to
one hundred percent. But with Bronnie, I don't know what
(12:44):
the word that you've used, but I know on our
show on Saturday, the word that I keep falling back
to is it's not organic. It didn't happen naturally. It
didn't happen because Bronnie James was one of the fifty
eight or sixty or whatever it was best draft eligible
players and everybody felt like this, and everybody felt like that,
and then oh, he gets to training camp and he
earns his spot and he gets put in the rotation,
(13:05):
and you feel, no, we know why it happened. And again,
I actually don't have a problem with a father doing that.
I have a problem with us pretending like people did
anything that bron Lebron did anything other than what he did,
which was completely manipulate the situation in his in his
son's favor.
Speaker 2 (13:25):
But if Bronni was still there, can I interest just
because it's manipulating the situation in Lebron's favor, because that's
that's I think they run away. We still look at
what's that it's in bron well, not in his That's
my whole deal is I don't think that this was
the best deal for Bronni. I think that's fair, right,
and so I think this was done for Lebron, so
(13:47):
like this was done for Lebron's favorite. Like so Dion
Sanders says, and you know it is said throughout the
process told Dan Patrick this, I believe it the Super
Bowl that there are some teams they don't want should
Org Sanders to go to. I get it. If I
if my son was an NFL prospect, there are definitely
organizations I would not want him to go to can
I it's just different when it's positioned in a way
(14:09):
to shandor. Sanders is ready for the NFL. He's going
to be a top five, top ten pick. I just
if I'm Dion, yeah, I'm saying, Okay, I don't like
that organization. I don't like what the Jets are doing.
I do like their ownership. Maybe I don't want to
go there. I have zero problem with that. You're trying
to use what you've accomplished in a way and your
son's accomplishments to put him in a right spot. Saying
(14:30):
my son's only going to play for the Sons and
Lakers as the fifty seventh pick here, Yeah, puts it in,
puts it in a whole different perspective. I understand if
you're like, I don't want him to go to the
Wizards because nothing's happening there. I don't want them to
go to Charlotte. I don't trust what they've got. I
could totally understand that, but they did it differently. They
said he can only play for the Lakers and Sons,
and that's something I had a problem with.
Speaker 3 (14:51):
Well, and he only they said he can only play
for the Lakers or Sons because they wanted it to
look like it wasn't a done deal with the Lakers.
The analogy that I actually used, Dan, which I think
you appreciate because people say all the time, is well,
I mean, it's not a big deal that Giannis has
got his brother on the team, you know, Thanasis. And
my argument is okay, but what is the We openly
(15:14):
acknowledge that Fanastas is a punchline. We openly acknowledge that
he's a human victory scar. We don't try to make
it out as though Fanastas is one of the four
what is it, four hundred and fifty best players thirty
times fifteen spots for nobody is claiming that Giannisi's brother
is one of the four hundred and fifty best players
when he has been on the bucks. It's just that
(15:34):
it's what the superstar wants, it's what the superstar gets.
But it's kind of a running joke every time that
he steps on the floor, and so to treat Bronnie
as he's something other than that. And I know we're
getting off the topic of the NCAA tournament, which I
want to get back to, but like to treat Bronnie
anything other than that, That's that's always been the frustrating
part to me, is if we just had acknowledged from
(15:56):
two weeks before the draft on hes kind of a
lebron deal. He wants to play with this kid, not
one of the four hundred and fifty best players. But
we've had to like we've been force fed Hey, no,
I mean you know he had he had that heart problem,
Well what do you bet?
Speaker 5 (16:09):
You know?
Speaker 2 (16:10):
You gotta give him a chance.
Speaker 3 (16:11):
And it's like that's the whole part that rubs me
the wrong way, and I think it rubs a lot
of the public the wrong way too.
Speaker 2 (16:15):
It is at some point we will we will get
over it. And I don't want to hate on Brownie
James like that's the that's the other part of it,
And that's why I just don't I don't feel that.
I am like I think it's I actually I think
it's kind of neat that he did have seventeen points
because I never would have thought that, as I mentioned earlier,
if we were talking about this last June, I thought
that it was going to be a first week of
the season thing for Lebron to get his father's son moment,
(16:37):
and that was that the guaranteed contract was something else.
I mean, that was completely different. You're not seeing that
that stuff that we can pile pile on with. I
just look at last night, the moment that was that
was lost. Instead of scoring twenty seven in an NCAA
tournament game, he scored seventeen and a twenty eight, twenty
nine point loss. And you know, in a meaningless NBA
(16:59):
game where four of the top players in the league
aren't playing. And while I think that his progress should
be commended, for what he's done in the G League.
To me, it's really never been about Bronny. It's always
been about Bron and Lebron. And that's why Lebron's responds
to all of this and why I think people like
Steven A and why people like Doug say this stuff
(17:21):
is I really don't think that they have anything against
Bronnie don't. I know I don't, and you know the
don't as well. It's just, man, if this decision isn't made,
what a moment it would have been for him last night.
If if he does go to Dukane and leads them
to the NCAA tournament, they have a better season than
what they have, it would have been pretty amazing.
Speaker 5 (17:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (17:37):
No, And to get back to that point for half
a second is like, like you said, Duke, what is
the tie?
Speaker 2 (17:42):
Exactly? It's Lebron's high school teammates.
Speaker 3 (17:45):
See even I'm not even totally but I know the reference,
and I know that there's family ties to Ducane, So
perfect example, a ten at large team whatever, or maybe
they got to get through the conference tournament and he
has a good conference tournament and you're watching him on
and you're like, oh, I haven't paid attention to Brown
as much this year. He's actually getting better. And then
oh he drops twenty nine as an eleven seed and
(18:07):
they beat you know, VCU played BYU. They beat BYU.
It's like, oh my, and it's an incredible story. And
again it goes back to the authenticity. Well now I
can't even remember the original word that I used the
but the authenticity of that moment of man. He went
through some real struggles at USC, he had the heart condition,
you feel awful, he had to leave, there was a
coaching change, and now he's doing it at Ducaine. This
(18:29):
is the best story we've ever seen in the tournament.
Instead of all the caveats that we've included in this
segment of and I'm not saying you did it right,
it's just the fact of, well, there's a bunch of
guys injured. And I know I said it got you know,
good play bad bad players put are.
Speaker 2 (18:46):
You know bad being relative?
Speaker 3 (18:48):
You know, non NBA players, G League caliber players put
up big individual nights in the NBA all the time.
And I'm just with you as I think this would
have been an incredible moment if Lebron had let this
all play organically.
Speaker 2 (19:01):
That was the word I was looking for, is organic,
and that obviously did not. Yeah, instead of seventeen in
the NBA last night in I don't want to say
meaningless because it's two playoff teams, but with the amount
of stars that weren't there a meaningless NBA game? You
should have been having twenty seven in the Big Dance.
He's erin Torres. I'm Dan Byer. We are in for

tournament so far as Ben McNeice against Clemson, and if
(20:00):
you watch Sports Center last night, they said, in this shot,
put McNeese up twenty two. Final score mcneise with the
upset sixty nine sixty seven. Yeah, Clemson almost made it
all the way back in like seven minutes. If they
had two more minutes, maybe Clemson ends up pulling the upset.
I know Jason Stewart had Clemson in one of his
Survivor pools, so he was following it as well. I
(20:24):
was on my way home as that game was winding
down trying to get I'm like, no way, is that
a close game. It was nine points and it was
seven points, but it was the upset of the night
mcneie dropping Clemson, and then you had Drake taking care
of Missouri in that six' eleven. Game BUT i feel
(20:44):
like those two schools were popular picks for upsets when
you made your. Bracket they WERE.
Speaker 3 (20:52):
I, mean do we keep the running joke going from
yesterday about McNee and certain people that we love saying
that nobody was picking them to, win BECAUSE i saw
everybody pick them to win. House but we'll, Leave, uh
we'll Leave jason mcatyre loan BECAUSE i love J. Mac
but he did have a tweet about nobody saw this. One, yeah,
yeah a lot of people. Did by the, way let
me ask you, this AND i think we talked about
(21:12):
this a little bit, yesterday but.
Speaker 2 (21:14):
How have you? Enjoyed? Really two?
Speaker 3 (21:16):
Things one The Will Wade Revival, tour but then two
The Will Wade Honesty tour Because i'll tell you, like,
LIKE i think this is so for people who might not,
know But Will wade's the McNeese. Coach and one he
got in trouble for THE ncaa stuff AT. Lsu but
he was asked about talking to the Nc state, people you,
(21:39):
know his next potential. Job he, said, Yeah i've done.
It uh, yeah, YEAH i talked to. Him, no, no lie. There,
uh me and my players talk about. It we spend
a day arguing about not you AND, i but just
people in, general about, uh is it going to impact the?
Speaker 2 (21:51):
Team doesn't impact the? Team they?
Speaker 3 (21:54):
Win and then he, said, well why would it impact our?
Team it's good for. Them he and the exact quote
that he used in an interview was they have coaches
in THEIR, dms, right now trying to get them to
come to their, school and SO i think THAT i
think it's a little different for you AND i because
we love college sports and we pay so much more.
ATTENTION i think some people are shocked at the honesty of, like,
(22:15):
yeah these guys you know are my good. Players we're
gonna transfer. Anyway now they just made a little bit more,
money so good for. Them and, oh by the, Way
i'm gonna make more money be in THE nc state
next head coach next, year and some of them are
gonna come with.
Speaker 2 (22:26):
ME i THINK i think That Will wade has got
something that other coaches in the similar positions don't, have
is that it's an obvious. Move and this is not
meant to disrespect McNeice by any, means but it's different
if you're Asking Ryan, odam are you gonna have you
talked With, virginia it's a Different it's just a different,
(22:46):
Conversation like it's an obvious move For Will wade to be, like,
LOOK i, LIKE i think the honesty has been. GREAT
i just don't think you can do that in every,
Spot like there are head coaching jobs that that you
know inside the, business you know more THAN i, do
but THAT i had heard as well even last year Of,
okay this guy is going to go here and this
one is, done but you can't say it because maybe
(23:08):
that team's you, know in THE Ncaa, tournament they're a
high mid. MAJOR i think with, McNeice where they are
coming out of The southland one big conference going to
a power school LIKE Nc, STATE i think there's more.
LEEWAY i think it's more like understood in that. Way,
heck When Tobin anderson Upset purdue At Fairley, dickinson like
(23:31):
you obviously leave for that job to take THE iona.
Job now he's out of it two years, later but
like there's just some obvious moves that you, make like
you're gonna cast in on, it WHERE i Think Will
wade has that flexibility where other coaches.
Speaker 3 (23:44):
Don't but don't you think, Though BUT i think even
SO i agree with, That AND i think you know there's, examples,
Right like there's rumors that Could mick cronin THE ucla
coach be trying to look for another, Job AND i
have no idea if he has or hasn't talked to,
anybody but Obviously Mick cronan HIS ucla coach would not be, like,
Yeah I'm i'm trying to get the heck out of.
HERE i hate flying across country fifteen times a year
playing in The Big. Ten SO i understand that. Part
(24:06):
BUT i do think AND i think that the transparency
maybe more so about the players of like, yeah like,
yeah that was good for, like like why why was
it not a? Distraction because they know if they ball,
out they're gonna get even more money in the portal
next year than they would have if they if they
lose that, game and it's, like you, KNOW i just go.
(24:28):
Ahead it's easy for a guy to say that when
he's leaving as. Well so like if you had your
players that were balling out and you knew that people
were in their, dms but you were going to stay
at the, SCHOOL i don't think you would love it as.
Much Like Will wade's leaving and he may be taking
those kids TO Nc state with, Him but if you're
there and, like like you find out other schools are
(24:50):
in THEIR, DMS i don't know how HAPPY i would
be about.
Speaker 2 (24:53):
That, Yeah SO i think that the honesty is. REFRESHING
i just think that he's in a unique situation that
allows him to be. Honest then that's it's great to hear.
It it is a new world of college. Basketball BUT
i think we would hear more coaches who are stayed
in their spot lament that other schools are in their.
Dms let me give you an.
Speaker 3 (25:13):
Example AND i don't know if this made waves on
The Doug Gottlieb, show but When Dan hurley was on
Sixty minutes the other, day he, mentioned, yeah half my
players already either, enter have already decided to enter the,
portal or are thinking about entering the. Portal AND i
think it was seen as like this super, like oh my,
GOD i don't.
Speaker 2 (25:33):
KNOW i don't.
Speaker 3 (25:33):
Know you're Probably you're probably. Right i'm probably too far
in the. Weeds let me ask you. THIS i don't.
THINK i don't think it's too far on the. WEEDS
i just think it's the fact that we think That
Danny hurley would just. Reload AND i think that there
are a lot of places where if you have a
good group of, players you don't want to lose that,
group and you could and it's more difficult to reload
at another, school as it would be the two time
(25:56):
defending national.
Speaker 2 (25:57):
Champions, YEAH i don't.
Speaker 3 (25:58):
KNOW i Just i'm that parallel interesting OF i think
non college sports people were surprised By hurley's honesty of
to your, point, oh people are gonna leave the two
time defending. Champs it's, like, yeah because they're not, playing
or they want this or they want. That and Then
Will wade's kind of the opposite of, like, yeah.
Speaker 2 (26:16):
No my, guys they're gonna get. Paid And i'm happy for.
Speaker 3 (26:19):
Him what do you think about just, LIKE i don't,
KNOW i think that his personal. Arc by the, Way
i'll say, This i'll get a little, nerdy BUT i
think it's. Important when he talked about after the, game
this is so great for the school, whatever blah blah,
blah that part Of louisiana has actually been hit very
hard by. Hurricanes AND i don't know all the, details
(26:39):
BUT i know enrollment is. DOWN i know that population
in that area is. Down SO i thought that was
a cool moment as. Well and we were on air
and you were DRIVING i was driving, Home SO i
don't know how much of it was talked about on the,
broadcast but like you, know we talk about How March
madness run can change a coach's, life a player's, life,
WHATEVER i think it kind of change that school's, trajectory and.
Speaker 2 (27:02):
It's not gonna be you, know it totally Does.
Speaker 3 (27:04):
Yeah, yeah, Yeah i'm Not i'm not saying it's gonna
be Like, harvard The harvard of of Of, east you,
Know Western louisiana or. Anything BUT i think it's an
important for that school in that.
Speaker 2 (27:13):
COMMUNITY i just want TO i want to just take a.
Survey then we're gonna go To manzi at the update.
Desk Jason, stewart do you Know? Winthrop do you know the? School?
Winthrop the? School? Yeah, Yeah, Iowa, sam you know Of? Winthrop.
Yep the only reason we know Of winthrop is because
of THE ncaa. Tournament oh, no doubt, Right, well so that's.
What so that's what McNeese, LIKE i remember when we
(27:33):
call the McNeese state like now they're just. McNeice but
like the point is is you make a Run. Valpo
how much run Is valpo gotten from What Bryce drew
did thirty years? Ago? Sure like like g just of.
That SO i so LIKE i get. THAT i think
that WHILE i think that the comments that he made serves, him,
(27:53):
WELL i don't think that he's. Wrong SO i have
no problem with him saying, That AND i think that
it's to your, point it's uplifting when you're hearing him
talk about enrollment being up and you know with the
five parishes that that are in that that area being
affected and what it's done for the whole. AREA i
think THAT'S i think that's. AWESOME i will tell you.
Speaker 3 (28:12):
WHAT i don't know what is in your TikTok, algorithm
but you know about a lot of stuff like just
dropping the five parishes like.
Speaker 2 (28:18):
That lets me. It he mentioned the. Comments, yeah he
did say. That he, said you, know like in our
five parish, area this success has really helped that. Area,
OKAY i didn't.
Speaker 3 (28:26):
Know he said that, now because you'll just drop random
things And i'll be, like this guy knows.
Speaker 2 (28:30):
A lot About i'm an. Idiot is that THAT i think
it's the.
Speaker 3 (28:33):
OPPOSITE i think you know you, just, OH i just
have a football. Guy i'm a basketball, guy and then
you're dropping five parishes out of. NOWHERE i was, like
you're reading. Encyclopedia is in your free time or WHAT i?
Speaker 2 (28:42):
Do writing? JOB i do love.
Speaker 4 (28:44):
Maps, yes little Does aaron know that you dropped A
Sabrina carpenter lyric on him in the first ninety seconds
of the show and didn't EVEN.
Speaker 2 (28:53):
I didn't know. THAT i didn't know what did you know, That?
MANCI i didn't know.
Speaker 4 (28:56):
That which one something about, uh don't tell me that
truth or something or what was?
Speaker 2 (29:01):
IT i, said, uh don't cry because it's over.
Speaker 3 (29:04):
Smiled THAT i. Thought but that's a Popular. YEAH i
thought that was just like An instagram. Meme oh that
like thirteen year old girls, like, yeah They.
Speaker 4 (29:16):
And sabrina said it.
Speaker 3 (29:17):
Too she stole, It, yeah, yeah she stole it from
some kitchen In Middle america that has it above their dining.
Table that's the equivalent of the gap the cat hanging
on a wire and, saying you, know hang.
Speaker 2 (29:30):
In, there hanging. There, yeah maybe that's the equivalent of.
That thank you very, much monster Our live with the
tirec Dot com. Studio two things that just want to
point out from last night's. Games number, ONE i think
a lot of times we feel that the higher seeds
come in, tight that they come in, nervous and that
they are ripe for an, upset and sometimes it happens
(29:52):
to the lower seeds Like, lipscomb for, example they just
were blown out By Iowa STATE i think that they
were a team people were looking, at maybe that could
be an. Upset we'll we'll See Iowa, states you, know
don one of their starters could be a Possibility Iowa
state runs off the, floor just ends up winning by
twenty some points or. Whatever you, See San diego had
(30:13):
a lot of, expectations AND i think that they were
they were feeling those last night in the game Against. Michigan,
now they had a chance to tie it at the,
end but if they hit any shot at any point
in the first what eight minutes of the, ballgame we're
maybe talking about a different. Ballgame and you, know kudos
To michigan for sticking it out and getting a, win
something that most of The triton's opponents didn't get this
(30:35):
weekend this season when they played you See San, diego
but we forget. That, yeah if you're a twelve, seed
maybe there are. Expectations like it's a tip of the
captain McNeice for coming out how they, did BECAUSE i
think you, See San diego felt for a little bit
that maybe the moment was a little bit too big
at the.
Speaker 3 (30:50):
Beginning that was the exact ONE i was thinking of
when you mentioned that of you, know we always focus
on the higher seeds potentially struggling, it but you See San,
diego they were just buried and then they were playing
catch up from.
Speaker 2 (31:02):
There so, yeah lost their best, player fouled, trouble he filed,
out but still had a chance to tie it at the.
End but in the, end The wolverines move on to
Face TEXAS a AND. M And Texas tech shot forty four.
Threes my goodness is someone who Was Texas tech in
the title game BECAUSE i like teams that shoot. THREES
i was a little nervous watched there WITH Unc, wilmington
(31:24):
but The Red raiders kept on. Firing and now they've
got a date With Drake as The Red raiders will
Face ben, McCollum and The Texas tech staff knows The
drake staff very.
Speaker 3 (31:38):
Well we don't have to go overboard On Texas, tech
BUT i will tell YOU i probably watched four or
five of their games really, closely and at every single
one they had probably like a twelve to fifteen point
halftime lead that was immediately cut into start the second
half when they just stopped. Hitting LIKE i think when
they played At, kansas they literally were like thirteen of
nineteen from three in the first, half and they were
(31:59):
up thirteen points at, halftime and then they went like
two for fourteen in the second half and nearly lost the.
Speaker 5 (32:05):
Games be sure to catch the live edition Of The
Doug Gottlieb show weekdays at three Pm eastern Noon Pacific.
Speaker 2 (32:13):
Doug Gollib, Show Fox Sports. Radio I'm Dan, Byer He's Aaron.
Torres it's turney time love having the tourney talkle of
more of it coming up next. Hour right, now let's
go to the news. Desk Monty belanios has got a
game for.
Speaker 5 (32:26):
Us this is Game, TIME gamea On The Doug Gottlieb.
Speaker 2 (32:34):
Show Jason stewart's playing, injured but he's playing. Anyway Iowa
sam is here as. Well. Monsey what have we?
Speaker 6 (32:40):
Got, well it Is, friday so are we kicking the weekend? Off?
SAM i got? DIBs that's, Right so we are all
going to call DIBs on various. Things your name is
your buzzer. Essentially you've done this right at? On, yes,
beautiful all, right all, right let's start, Phillas who do
you have have DIBs? On when it comes to teams
(33:02):
that you are now out? On in THE Ncaa.
Speaker 3 (33:06):
Tournament i'll go, Ahead i'll take. Dibbs who you, Got
i'll take DIBs On Auburn. Alburn they had lost three
of four coming into the, tournament AND i kept making. Excuses,
well one game they had just won the conference. Championship
then they got beat on a buzzer. Beater tennis's a bad. Matchup,
no they might just. Stink it was thirty two to
thirty one Against Alabama. State their own players were calling
(33:29):
out other players in the post. GAME i don't know what.
HAPPENED i don't want to know what is going on
in that locker. Room but something is not. Right And
Bruce pearl said it. Yesterday he's, like we play like
that Against, Creighton they're gonna run outside of the. GYM
i don't know if they'll lose To, creighton but as
a number one, seed number one, overall number one overall, seeds, yes,
yeah hard for me to see him, going oh, Yeah i'm, Out,
(33:50):
OKAY i got.
Speaker 2 (33:51):
DIBs this is gonna surprise. YOU i got DIBs On North.
Carolina OH i, Know manci's looking at, me, like what
are you talking? About they were just, Dominant they got
rest they're about to Play Ole. Miss they're a favorite.
Today that's. Insane, yeah they. Are AND i know that
there are a lot of numbers that show Maybe North
carolina was a different team over the last couple of.
Months but still there's something about That quad one. Victory
(34:13):
they barely got A quad one win by beating The
San Diego state, game BUT i guess that's number two
because there was a neutral court In San Diego state
was like forty five in the. Net i'm just gonna say.
THIS i think they are who we thought they were
And Ole. Miss Chris beard's kind of been weird disrespectful
questions to him of, like what's it like coaching With
(34:33):
kalapari and other, Legends and he's, like, YEAH i was
in AN ncaa title game and went to overtime five years.
Ago and then somebody else asked him it was The Tim.
Boyle is It Tim doyle Or boile FROM Cbs? Sports
Tim Tim boyle is the quarterback From. Yukon, yeah, okay
who played for The. LIONS i think He's Aaron. RODGERS
(34:55):
i ever said That Ole miss was a. Fraud that
Gives Ole miss some. Momentum so, yeah, look out for
Ole miss.
Speaker 7 (35:02):
Today, OKAY i got DIBs On TEXAS a AND. M
i just feel like they're gonna dry up at some.
Point they don't shoot the three very, well So i'm
out on, them all.
Speaker 2 (35:11):
RIGHT i got.
Speaker 4 (35:12):
DIBs i got DIBs on The. CLUMPSON i have them Beating.
Houston i'm going to The elite, eight AND i just
have no faith that they're going to do. That clumpson
is my, Pick Tim.
Speaker 2 (35:23):
Doyle by the, WAY i did Subfirm Tim.
Speaker 6 (35:24):
Doyle, okay, Perfect i'm you, Know i'm going to take
DIBs on On. PURDUE i feel like High point just
looks so much faster than, them AND i just don't
know how they're gonna don't per. Don't, yeah that's just
High point had it and then you could just see
that they were just a little Bit.
Speaker 2 (35:38):
Masie what do you think About?
Speaker 3 (35:39):
ALABAMA i will tell you it's amazing how Close purdue
games are when their center doesn't draw.
Speaker 2 (35:47):
Thirty serious and take serious two fall. Shots, yeah, no for,
sure for. Sure all, right let's move on, here.
Speaker 6 (35:54):
Fellas uh DIBs on where you think Should Door sanders
is going to?
Speaker 2 (35:58):
LAND i got DIBs on The. Giants giants because right
Now Tommy DeVito is the only quarterback they have under,
contract and there hasn't been a lot of momentum of
them trading. Up Maybe tennessee doesn't want, to But i'm
going to say with The. GIANTS i don't think The
brons will go that, route But i'm going to say The.
Speaker 3 (36:15):
GIANTS i got DIBs on a lot of journalists covering
their tracks after the draft BECAUSE i agree With dan
one hundred. PERCENT i believe this is a totally made
up story that he's not a first rounder and he's not,
this and he's not. That AND i think you, know
you've been to enough may you, know prominent events where,
guys you, know it becomes confirmation bias of, OH i
(36:37):
don't want to be. Wrong so this guy's saying he's
a second, rounder SO i believe. It so my DIBs
is on journalists looking like. IDIOTS i think he's going extra.
EARLY i think he's going to The giants as.
Speaker 4 (36:48):
WELL i got DIBs on whichever team is gonna Piss dean.
OFF i want. CHAOS i want there to be a.
STANDOFF i want An Eli manning Esque John elway. Situation
that was great.
Speaker 2 (37:01):

thing for THE.
Speaker 6 (37:03):
Nfl by the, Way, YEAH i got divs On dan's Answer. Giants,

Spring there's something about playground basketball when it's fifty degrees
and the snow is still. Melting my hometown got like
six inches of snow the other, day so that's hopefully
it'll warm up and that'll. Happen but that's WHAT i love.
ABOUT i got DIBs on Baseball Hope Springs. Eternal Hope Springs.
Speaker 7 (37:50):
ETERNAL i got DIBs on when you live in The
midwest and you see the crocus is like when these
flowers that comes up first in the, spring and then you're, like,
yes we're close to leaves coming into the.
Speaker 2 (37:59):
Trees all, right.
Speaker 6 (38:00):
Good, job.
Speaker 2 (38:00):
