(00:42):
I'm gonna read you a quote and then we'll talk
about it. Lamar Jackson told GQ when he was asked
about his haters, I always say this, people hated Jesus.
Not to compare myself to Jesus. But it's like, if
he got hated and he was still a good person
and still did did follow through with its purpose, why
(01:04):
can't I So he didn't compare himself to Jesus, but
he kind of did. But the bigger thing is this,
we're going to have to reassess a word which is
often misused. There's lots of words that are misused now,
there's expressions and phrases that are misset. I'm not going
(01:25):
to sit here like I'm an English professor because I'm
terrible at spelling, but i do know that it's a
tough row to hoe. You cannot hoe a road, you
hoe a row. You couldn't care less, you couldn't care less.
Remember this is important because if you could care less,
that means you care and the expression I couldn't care
(01:47):
less means I don't care at all. That's why I
couldn't care less. We've actually changed, or maybe it's gen
Z has changed the meeting of the word literal where
they've added an additional meaning where it's actually more figurative
than literal. Literal is literal, Figurative is figurative. But for
(02:09):
whatever reason, we've changed that because we want to. But
it's literally when it's not literally is figuratively and figuratively
is listed in the Dictionary as the definition of figuratively
is one of the definitions of literally. Because pop culture
(02:29):
is misused word enough, we've also misused this whole hater thing.
What is a hater.
Speaker 3 (02:36):
Now?
Speaker 2 (02:36):
I'm guessing that in Lamar Jackson's mind, it's guys that
tell him he sucks. But there's not really people that
say Lamar Jackson sucks, or there's not any that are
in existence anymore. Let's say he sucks. They may not
think he's a SUPEROL Champion level quarterback, maybe not a
Hall of Famer, or he's a regular season quarterback. But
(02:57):
that's analysis more than hatred. Hatred would be one off
fan saying something stupid that doesn't make any sense. But
for whatever reason, we've allowed the word hater to become
synonymous with any type of negative analysis. So either we
(03:18):
have to redefine what a hater is or we have
to stop using the word hater, because to say, Lamar Jackson,
and as great as he is in the regular season,
he still has not shown the ability to pick apart
defenses in the postseason, where you have to throw more,
it's colder, it's harder to run. We don't want you
(03:39):
to run, we don't want you to get hurt. You want
a more developed offense, whatever, all these things like, there
is a balance there, And I would say ninety five
percent of the people who have said anything negative about
Lamar throughout his career, but especially now in the NFL.
It's more analysis than it is hatred. Yet we use
anything that's not one hundred percent positive be seen as
(04:01):
hatred and that ain't right. Jay sdu Can you think
of a different way to say it? Am I the
one supposed to adjust? Do we just how how we
usere haters? What should we do here?
Speaker 4 (04:13):
I think yeah, it's all in the the eye of
the beholder. You know how you take criticism, how you
take comments. But I don't know. Yeah, detractors, distractors what's
the word detractor? Maybe that's distractors, But it's not even.
Speaker 2 (04:27):
A detractor if you're just going like, hey, you know,
he still doesn't he still doesn't see it well enough
and pick a part well enough in doubs like a
doubter is fine.
Speaker 5 (04:38):
Yeah, it's not.
Speaker 4 (04:39):
Even how Lamar takes it as much as it is
how Lamar defenders take it. Like you never see the
reaction like you do when you when you hear something
negative about Lamar Jackson. There's all these people on social
media that just come to his defense and call you
a hater. I don't know why it's him specifically, because
(05:00):
things said about him have been said about other quarterbacks,
but for whatever reason, it land's different for him or
with him. I don't know why that's so, but you
hear this all the time that he is.
Speaker 2 (05:11):
Because of the one off story of a wide receiver
coach and I know who the coach was asked him
if he was going to run at the combine. That's why.
And people have taken that to take steps to thinking
that I guess there's some racial undertones to it or whatever,
and the whole world is racist and out to get
(05:32):
Lamar Jackson, and so when there's any part of analysis
which is negative about him, you're a racist. Like Russell
Wilson's been picked apart ten ways with sideways. It's not
because of his race. It's because he used to be
on path to being a Hall of Famer and then
he gets super weird and now he's been bad.
Speaker 5 (05:55):
But whatever.
Speaker 2 (05:56):
I just the word hater is just such a weird
It's so off putting because you're like, Okay, well I'm
not a hater. I'm just trying to give some real
football analysis, and yet any time you do, you're called
a hater. A hater I think is the football or
the sports term for it's used as flippantly as racist
(06:18):
is used. And the truth is there's very few haters
and there's very few racists.
Speaker 6 (06:23):
I think.
Speaker 2 (06:24):
I don't know, byer, can you think of a better way,
Like why do we use this the hater thing that
it's become so synonymous with any sort of what could
be constructive criticism or negative analysis.
Speaker 5 (06:36):
I don't know. I don't know if it's just the
easy way out or people just feel that their accomplishments
aren't being viewed and it's only a negative storyline. Maybe
that's a portion of it. It also just seems to
be a lot easier just to say that they're haters.
Speaker 2 (06:55):
It's a good call. They're haters. They're haters. The other
part that's interesting about Lamar is he's remarkable. He's the
best running quarterback ever. He's been putting good systems run
but he's so elusive. He's amazing, and he does throw
a great ball downfield, and he's a better version of
(07:16):
what he used to be. Clearly a much better pro
quarterback than any would have thought two MVPs. But I
don't know anybody who thinks he's one of the elite
actual quarterbacks in the NFL. I guess Tom Brady really
likes him and likes how he does what he does,
But like, if you have to go win a game
and you got eighty yards to go, are you taking him?
Or Josh Allen are you taking him? Or Pat Mahomes
are you taking him? Or kind of go through some
(07:38):
of the quarterbacks and his skill set, you would think
normally you would take him because he can run and
he can throw it. But for whatever reason, he hasn't
worked out of such in the playoffs, and I think
that requires some amount of analysis, and not all analysis
is going to be, Hey, you're awesome. It's not you.
Sometimes it is you, sometimes it is you. Are we
(08:02):
bothered by the Jesus thing? He does? Specifically said not
to compare myself to Jesus, but that was that almost
feels like a hey, no disrespect something disrespectful is going
to come out here.
Speaker 4 (08:15):
I mean, he said he used the Jesus thing, and
I'm not offended by that, but but I think that
maybe where he goes a little too far is what
he says next, and that he's not going to let
this distract him from his purpose or whatever, so to
compare Lamar Jackson, quarterback of the Raven's purpose of winning
a Super Bowl, to what Jesus's purpose was. I think
(08:37):
that's where the comparison gets a little murky.
Speaker 2 (08:39):
No, uh yeah, did anybody ever say that Lamar wasn't
a good person. That one's weird.
Speaker 4 (08:47):
That's the thing. The hate that he gets has nothing
to do with him as a person or what he
does for the community. It's all football related, right.
Speaker 2 (08:55):
Yes, correct, comblity because he hasn't really given us anything
negative or we don't really follow him outside of it.
I don't I get it, but I don't get it.
I think it's a I know you love to pick
on gen zers. He's a gen zer, right.
Speaker 6 (09:14):
He is.
Speaker 2 (09:15):
Remember like before he signed his new contract, if you
don't love Lamar to you know, five hundred and fifty
million dollars a year, you don't love Lamar, Like, well,
that's not actually how it works, dude. But he did
get his money. And it's the it's the mentality of
if you're not completely all in on everything I doing
being great, you're a hater. I just it just wears
(09:36):
all of us out. It's like, Okay, that's a guy
who doesn't actually want to get better. Rapid Radios official

and get sixty percent off plus free shipping. Hey, you know,
it's really the whole thing is super super interesting, super
interesting with Lamar Jackson, super interesting with the use of Jesus,
Like I'm not comparing myself to Jesus, but there is
sort of a Jesus element to it, right, And then
(10:18):
there's the expectations of how they're going to do. And
with all of this, with the NFL, we have the
exact opposite opinion of Lamar as we do of Pat Mahomes,
which is, Pat Mahomes, it's gonna screw around. And I
think I think Buyer said this yesterday and it was right,
which is like Pat Mahomes didn't even have a good
year last year, like by his standards, but when it
(10:41):
was called upon, he delivered. Laura had a great year
last year, and then when called upon, they couldn't deliver.
That's not hatred, that's just watching football and giving thoughts
on it.

just pat of my liquid death here during the break
(11:27):
and just I was rushing and that's what happened. I rushed,
got hiccups, Ben bol In a second. First, so let's
talk about the cowboys.
Speaker 7 (11:39):
Let's talk about the cowboys. Why, well, because they're the cowboys.
Speaker 2 (11:45):
Cowboys about the cowboys because they're the cowboys. And we
talked about the cowboys of the Cowboys. Got it good?
Speaker 3 (11:59):
So?
Speaker 2 (11:59):
Uh, Steven A. Smith? Who Look, I don't throw around
the word hater the way others do, but I think
we can all say that Steven A. Smith is a
Cowboys hater. You guys all go to that. I think
anybody's in denial there. Here's Jerry Jones when he was
asked on Steven A. Smith's podcast what he thinks of
the criticism of himself.
Speaker 3 (12:21):
I feel a lot better than some of the critiques
that maybe I'm getting more than they are, but I'm
sensitive to. But frankly a little surprised. I'm surprised that
it didn't more apparent to fans that we put an
(12:42):
outstanding team together. I think the team is in better
shape to roll than it was last year.
Speaker 7 (12:49):
I am a pleaser.
Speaker 3 (12:51):
It bothers the hell out of me to really get
critiqued and criticized, especially if they're getting near the Red Men.
They're getting in there where I'm double sensitive about it.
But there's not many things about the Cowboys that I'm
not sensitive about.
Speaker 2 (13:10):
Yeah. So again, we all hear different things when people speak,
and Dan Byron, I'm interested in what you hear because
what I hear is what I actually said earlier this week,
which is, hey, you know, I get that the Cowboys
choke every year in the playoffs. I enjoy it just
(13:30):
as much as anybody else. On the other hand, what
NFL people will all say, and we'll say mostly as fans,
is Cowboys have a really good team. They have really
good players. And Jerry's point is, and it's a pretty
good one, which is like, hey, we've gotten better and
better and better. I think we're a better team than
this year than last year. We have this consecutive streak
of double digit win seasons. We've built a consistent winner,
(13:54):
and nobody says we don't have good players. So in
terms of doing my job, I've done my job. I
continue to do my job. I'll continue to do my job.
And instead, we're very results oriented and if you don't
win a Super Bowl or the Cowboys do come up short,
somehow Jerry's not doing the best he can, which I
don't think. I again, I actually think there's some unfair criticism.
(14:15):
Do I love Mike McCarthy as a coach. I don't,
But I also know that you know, like, if you're
gonna fire him, who are you gonna hire? I would
have hired Belichick. I'm not in love with with Dak Prescott,
but I know the reason they hold on Dak Prescott
and Jerry Jones said, it is man. There's a lot
of other guys out there that are just guys. So
(14:35):
what I heard was, Hey, like, what are you criticizing
me for? Like I put together a really good team.
Everybody says that. Everybody says we got good talent. We
get to the playoffs and we lose, and suddenly I'm
not doing my job. That's what I heard. What did
you do?
Speaker 5 (14:50):
Well, I'll just say this to your point. And I
think that's why Jerry is playing this game with Dak
Prescott because in a way, he's putting the blame on him,
and he's putting the blame on Mike McCarthy, like, what
else do I have to do to produce a winner.
It's not for you guys to perform in these situations,
(15:11):
which actually makes sense if that's what Jerry is thinking.
I think what people look at and say is, listen,
we're not the Jacksonville Jaguars where maybe you have a
great season, then you come back and you have a
disappointment in the last year. We're not them. We're not
the Tennessee Titans who are in the middle of a rebuild.
(15:32):
And he's right, but he also has to realize is
that's why they're the Dallas Cowboys. It's the you know,
you know, this close to where you grow up. They
don't hang Final four banners at UCLA, they hang national championships.
Comes with a territory. So that's the part that Jerry understands.
Like in his world, I think it all makes sense
(15:55):
and his comments make sense, but I just don't think
that that's the world that we live in as football
fans and NFL fans.
Speaker 2 (16:03):
I think it's really really good, very fair point. I
still think a little bit of is over the top
in that we blame him for things that you know,
it's like, what do you want me to do? Like
I got but sure, but you're saying it's like it's
a completely different scaling of the Cowboys. Can't say your
America's team can't be worth ten billion dollars, you know,
can't talk about all these things control the NFL and
(16:25):
then you never show up big in the playoffs.
Speaker 5 (16:28):
I'll say this like, as a Milwaukee Bucks fan, Okay,
something has been lost over the last couple of years
where you just are are throwing money at guys, signing
guys to ten days, waiting for a veteran to get
waived and then you'll sign them and and it looks
like you're doing a lot, but are you really doing
what is best for your organization. You can sign all
(16:50):
the players you want or make the trades all you want,
but if you don't have a cohesive unit, the GM says, look,
I've given you all of these great ingredients. You know,
so what you know? Do you really do you? You know,
do you really want Marinara sauce on your steak? Like
you know you love Marinara, you love steak? And if
it's not working, goes back to I guess to the
(17:10):
you know, pick the groceries for Bill Parcells sort of thing.
Like I think Jerry Jones has this laundry list of
success of draft picks and signings and what they've done,
but if it's not translating to wins, he's kind of
passing the buck and saying, look, I've provided you with
everything that's your you know, your fault for not making
you work.
Speaker 2 (17:30):
Stuck, got leave show. You're on Fox Sports Radio and
let's talk some more NFL as we're getting ready for kickoff. Man,
it's finally here. The NFL seasons upon us and Ben
Bollen joins us as he has for the last couple
of years. Of course, rights for the Boston Globe covers
not just the Patriots, the entire National Football League. But
it is really interesting right the end of the Patriots
(17:51):
dynasty and where we are now with this team. Give
me your sense of drawd Mayo and how he's been
trying to fill those unfillable issues.
Speaker 6 (18:02):
Yeah, I'll get I'll get Drowd Mayo a lot of
credit and excuse my voice here, Doug dealing with a
little something here. But Drowd Mayo has definitely tried to
be his own man. He's not trying to be Bill Belichick.
One thing that's interesting is you assume that Drod Mayo,
a thirty eight year old former player. He gon'n be
like a player's coach. He hates that label, he says,
(18:25):
you know, that means the players are in the locker room,
and he Drowd Mayo wants to try to bring a
little more disciplined than maybe what people expect. Like I
thought the Patriots training camp. You know, there's a lot
of rules that the NFL puts on them for how
much contact they can have and how much they can practice.
But it's still I thought Drowd Mayo worked him pretty hard,
and it showed up towards the end of camp when
(18:46):
they actually had some injuries on the offensive line and
then the tight end room, and you're wondering if maybe
Drod Mayo worked them a little too hard. But look,
Drowd Mayo, he's a rookie head coach, and this is
the first time that he's dealing with all kinds of issues.
He was, most notably being the guy to speak to
reporters every day, and he's had some mixed messages. He's
(19:06):
had a few times already this year where he's had
to stick his foot in his mouth. Right after he
was hired, he went on the radio and said, we're
going to burn some cash, and then the Patriots didn't
go out and spend that much money in free agency.
At the end of training camp, he's telling us, this
is a pure competition. This is a pure competition, and
Drake may has played better. And then he names Jacoby
Brissett the starting quarterback and in the process doesn't show
(19:29):
a whole lot of support for Jacoby Brissett as his starter.
So he's learning as he goes along, no question, But
you know, I guess the Crafts and the Patriots have
a lot of faith in him, being a former player,
always one of the smartest players on defense, being more
of the new generation kind of coach who can connect
(19:51):
with players but also get results on Sunday.
Speaker 2 (19:56):
So why wouldn't he start Drake May as it just
he doesn't he wants to put him in. He doesn't
want to have to pull him out, you know, And
it's easier for a guy who's a veteran kind of
spot starter to be taken out. Like, what's the logic
behind it?
Speaker 6 (20:11):
Yeah, I think that's some of it. You don't want
to have exactly. You don't want to see Drake May
potentially lose confidence and that have to take him out
of the lineup. To me, there's just too much risk,
not too much downside, not enough upside to starting Drake
May in week one. You don't get any bonus points
for Drake May starting week one or you know, starting
seventeen games this season, And it comes down to the
(20:34):
fact that the personnel around him is a mess. I
think Drake May could probably go out there right now
and hold his own and learn on the fly and
learn through mistakes and show some of that athleticism, you know,
is scrambling ability is a big guy too. But the
Patriots are a mess the offensive line especially. We saw
in the last preseason game against Washington, where guys were
(20:55):
running into each other. Drake May was getting stepped on,
losing a shoot during his drip. The left tackle was
flagged three times for a legal formation for lining up
too far off the line of scrimmage. And you don't
want Drake May going out there early in the season
and getting hurt and taking shots. And you don't know
what they have at receiver. You don't know what they
(21:16):
have on the offensive line. The Patriots are just not
ready for a rookie quarterback right now. So you signed
Jacoby Brissett for a reason. He's your caretaker, he's your mentor.
He's the guy who can start the season. The offensive coordinator,
Alex Van Pelt hand picked Jacoby Brissette. That's his guy.
Let Jacoby Brissette kind of play his way out of
the job before Drake May takes over. I mean, there's
(21:39):
a little doubt that Drake May is going to see
the field a lot this year, but week one, the
team around him is just not ready.
Speaker 2 (21:47):
Let's talk to the Jets. Interesting team. Aaron Rodgers back
only four plays last year, right, they trade for sound Reddick,
don't have a sound Reddick playing that one seems to
have gone sideways. He thought last year's check out the roster.
You just had a quarterback their playoff team. Okay, so
you bring in a quarterback. He's a Hall of Famer.
But coming off in Achilles, what happens with the Jets
(22:09):
this year?
Speaker 6 (22:10):
I like the Jets. I think they're going to bounce
back Aaron Rodgers. If he were a more mobile quarterback,
I'd be concerned about him returning to, you know, a
top level of play. But he's a guy who wins
with his arm strength and by diagnosing things before the snap,
and so I think he's going to be as sharp
as ever. He might not be MVP vintage Aaron Rodgers,
(22:31):
but I think he's still gonna be pretty dark good.
And with Garrett Wilson Breeth Hall, they've got some good
weapons there on the offense for Aaron Rodgers to work with.
And I've always liked that defense. I think Robert Sala,
even you know, with the issues with Hasan Reddick. Right now,
I think the Jets defense is still going to be
really really good this year. So assuming Aaron Rodgers Achilles
doesn't snap like a rubber band again and that he
(22:53):
can make it through the season. I've got the Jets
coming out of the AFC East. I think, you know,
I don't know if they're to be super Bowl contenders,
but I think they're going to be a double digit
win team with Aaron Rodgers, and I think, you know,
he's a guy who's got a wants to prove that
he's not done yet, and he wants to, you know,
erase the sour case from last year obviously with that injury.
(23:14):
So I think the Jets and Aaron Rodgers are definitely
gonna be bouncing back this year.
Speaker 2 (23:19):
Okay, Dolphins, you have twa Tongue Bailoa on a massive
new contract. I don't think that actually hits the books
until next year. Bring back Tyreek Hill. They've been a
really good regular season team that when it gets cold,
obviously they've looked very different. What's your projections and the
Dolphins this year.
Speaker 6 (23:37):
Yeah, I've got the Dolphins missing the playoffs, taking a
step back this year. And you say they're a good
regular season team, Really, they're good from September to November.
They beat up on everyone early in the season when
the weather's nice and the conditions are good, and then
when in December and January, they've fallen apart. The last
two years, they've been really soft. I believe they're four
(23:57):
and ten the last two years in those two months,
and not just the weather causes them to freeze up,
but once they start playing the better teams. And what
was that Ravens game last year, like fifty six to nineteen,
And I see a Dolphins team that didn't make a
ton of improvements over the offseason. I think they largely
brought the same team back and they you know, obviously
(24:18):
made some change that like defensive coordinator, and we'll have
some cosmetic changes. But to me, this is still kind
of the same team and they've been soft the last
couple of years, and so I just I don't see
this being a great year for the Dolphins. I think
they might take a little bit of a step back.
Part of that because I think they play in such
a difficult division with the Jets and the Bills. They
see in general is I think, very very competitive this year.
(24:43):
So you know, prove me wrong. Dolphins go up you
know you got to go out there and do it. Now,
we all know you can beat up on the teams
in the early months of the season, but to at
Taga Bello, Mike McDaniel, they've never proven that yet that
they can win the key games and win in when
the weather isn't always so perfect down to Miami.
Speaker 2 (25:02):
Okay, So help me help me out with this one.
If you're going to bet your savings, which are substantial,
then on one team to take down the Chiefs and THEFC.
Speaker 6 (25:12):
Who would be one team to take down the Chiefs? Nacy?
I mean, how do you not say the Cincinnati Bengals.
They've been the one foil for the Chiefs the last
few years they played him. They beat him in that
one AFC Championship game to go to the Super Bowl,
and then came the next year in that rematch, came
right down to the end. Not for that late hit
out of bounds, who knows if the Chiefs would have
(25:33):
even made it back to the Super Bowl. I love
Joe Burrow. I think he's tough as nails. They've got
t Higgins, They've got Jamar Chase. That's a very motivated
team this year. Guys playing for contracts, Trey Hendrickson the
pass rusher, assuming Joe Burrow can stay healthy, which unfortunately
for him, he's now had two big injuries in his
short career. But I really like the Bengals if they're
(25:54):
one team to be able to take down the Chiefs.
And let's not forget the Houston Texans too. I think
they're loaded this year. Dj Stroud now in a second year.
They got Stefan Diggs. Will Anderson, last year's defensive Rookie
of the Year, is a fantastic player. They got the
pass rusher from Minnesota named this case of me right now.
But I think the Houston has just been loading up
(26:15):
on talent, so I definitely think the Chiefs are gonna
have a very difficult time getting back to that third
straight Super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (26:23):
I think everyone loves Jordan Love and the fact that
he showed himself to be a viable starting quarterback, but
now he's the highest paid guy in the sport.
Speaker 5 (26:32):
That's a lot.
Speaker 2 (26:35):
And as much as he had some great performances in
his first year as a starter, there was also some duds.
What does Jordan Love do this year?
Speaker 6 (26:45):
Yeah, Jordan Love was a real jackal and Hyde player.
Last year, the first eight ten games of the season,
the general manager was kind of challenging him, saying, you
know this is this is a time now to make
it move. And sure enough he did, and his second
half of the season was phenomenal and they went in
the playoffs, they won a game, almost almost made it
to the NFC Championship game. So you gotta love how
(27:07):
Jordan love pardon the pun there, but you got to
love how he improved throughout the season and got certainly
after getting his speed established a little bit. I like
the Packers this year. Only problem is I think their
division is gonna be very difficult. The Lions, I think,
are coming back to, you know, with a vengeance to
try to make that Super Bowl. The Bears are gonna
be much better now with with Caleb Williams and all
(27:28):
the talent that they put around him. And even the Vikings.
I know they have Sam Darnold and not JJ McCarthy,
but I think Kevin O'Connell's a terrific coach. They built
a good team other than the quarterback, and so the
Vikings are going to be no pushovers either. So I
think that that's going to be a difficult challenge for
the Packers is just having those six games in the
division where it's going to be a real black and
blue division again in the NFC North. But certainly I
(27:51):
have the Packers as a playoff team, and you know,
you know, I talked about how the Dolphins they haven't
been there and done it. You know, Jordan Love went
there and did it last year. He won big games
in December, went on the road in the playoffs, won
a big game. So Jordan Love has certainly shown that
he's got some metal already.
Speaker 2 (28:08):
What happens with the Cowboys, Jerry.
Speaker 6 (28:12):
Jones is certainly putting a lot of pressure on everyone
down there. Mike McCarthy's in his last season of his contract,
Dak Prescott is going into his contract here. Obviously, Michael
Parsons didn't get a deal. He's playing for a contract.
Even the defensive coordinator, Mike Zimmer, they signed him on
just a one year deal. So to me, it could
turn out pretty well, and I think the Cowboys will
(28:34):
win double digit games and get back to the playoffs.
But man, the pressure of the situation could just force
that team to implode spectacularly, as things sometimes we'll do
in Dallas under Jerry Jones. But you know, with Dak
Prescott still under center, with Ceedee Lamb at wide receiver
Michael Parsons, I mean, they still have a lot of
high end talent in Dallas. So you know, that's a
(28:56):
team that I think you have to put in the
playoff mix. But again, let's see improve it. Let's see
Dak Prescott win some games in the playoffs. Now, I
you know, ultimately, that's still a franchise that I don't
think it's a you know, I don't think it's an
accident that they keep coming up short in January. That's
a team that needs to build up some more mental toughness.
Speaker 2 (29:17):
So good, so good to have you back, Ben, because
you're scared of nothing. You tell it like it is
and you have a great wealth of knowledge. Really appreciate
you joining us. Look forward to tonight, then Friday Night's game,
then Sunday and then Monday. We'll talk to you next week.
Thanks for our guest on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 6 (29:31):
All right, thanks a lot, Doug.
Speaker 7 (29:32):

Gottlieb Show weekdays at three pm Eastern noon Pacific.
Speaker 2 (29:40):
The show is sponsored by Draft Kings Stay tuned because
you'll hear more about DraftKings and all has to offer
throughout the show. Draft Kings, the Crown is yours. Bill
Krackenberger joins. Going to join us. Next hour, we'll get
some picks for the upcoming weekend. Plus we got Thursday football.
There we go, let's waiting for that. Wait, what do
(30:04):
you guys watching the night by? Are you watching home?
Speaker 5 (30:08):
Yeah? More than likely, yep STU.
Speaker 4 (30:11):
Oh yeah, I'll be on my couch with our dog.
It's gonna be great.
Speaker 2 (30:15):
I'm really excited about watching football with my new pup
as well. I mean, his name is Vince Lombardi. Might
know a thing or two about football. Let's get to
a game.
Speaker 7 (30:27):
This is game time game on the Doug Gottlieb Show.
Speaker 2 (30:33):
Okay, Danny, what he got.
Speaker 5 (30:36):
Doug? The game today is.
Speaker 7 (30:41):
I feel a draft?
Speaker 3 (30:42):
All right?
Speaker 5 (30:43):
We are drafting Super Bowl fifty nine winners. Yes, who
we think is going to win Super Bowl fifty nine.
The order is three round draft because I think we
could go deep. Doug, you get Numero Uno, Jason the second.
I will pick third, and Sam will pick four. So
a three round draft on who we think will win
(31:04):
and lift the Vince Lombardi Trophy in New Orleans on
February ninth. Doug, you're on the.
Speaker 2 (31:09):
Clock with the first pick. I will take the Kansa
City Chiefs.
Speaker 5 (31:15):
That's who Pete Schreeger picked. And we know how good
he's been.
Speaker 4 (31:19):
Yes, Peter Schreger lasts six super Bowls, that's pretty impressive.
Speaker 5 (31:24):
He's trying to coin the phrase Chiefs Pete as well
instead of a three peat, So he's trying to trying
to start that. If it happens, that's terrible.
Speaker 4 (31:35):
I'm gonna stay in the same conference here, Ordon Milly,
I'll take the Ravens.
Speaker 3 (31:42):
Oh.
Speaker 5 (31:43):
I don't know about you, guys. I am more interested
in game wise tomorrow night than I am actually tonight.
Speaker 2 (31:49):
No question. Just tonight's the first night though, that's why.
Speaker 5 (31:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (31:53):
No, And it's to ans Lamar and he'll do some
crazy stuff. But I'm with you, much more interesting game morning.
Speaker 5 (31:58):
Yeah. And plus curious to see what the NFL looks
like in Brazil, what the crowd's going to be like,
the whole shebang. All right, I'm gonna take the team
that I do think will win Super Bowl fifty nine,
the Detroit Lions. Yes, give me Detroit with the third
overall pick to win Super Bowl fifty nine. All right, Sam,
(32:18):
you got back to backers here.
Speaker 8 (32:21):
Well, I feel bound by the prediction sheet here in
studio that I just filled out before the show, and
my Super Bowl champion came out to be the Buffalo Bills.
So I'm taking the Bills. I am bound by the paper.
I'm bound by the sheet here in studio. All right,
you have two picks.
Speaker 5 (32:38):
All right?
Speaker 8 (32:39):
So my runner up was actually the Lions, champions in
the sc North, but Dan, you already took them. So
I'm gonna go with the Green Bay Packers.
Speaker 5 (32:49):
Packers coming in at number five, which was Peter Schrager's
NFC opponent to the Chiefs in Super Bowl fifty nine.
It's funny, Sam just laid into me for taking his alliance.
I could lay into him for taking my Bills pick
in the second round. I have coined it. Guys. You
ready for this?
Speaker 2 (33:06):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (33:07):
Super Bowl fifty nine, Motown versus No Town. Oh yes,
the Bills and Lions. That's what I am That's what
I am finding about. I am just doing it on
pure value here. I have to take the forty nine
ers because they're still available.
Speaker 4 (33:21):
Second round.
Speaker 5 (33:22):
Yeah, yeah, I think that's a really really good value pick.
You know me when i'm when i'm picking, It's just
like fantasy football. If you want a guy, go ahead
and get them, but don't be so obsessed that you
have the same players in all your leagues. Just if
somebody's falling, just let them fault you and take them
when you when they're when it's right. So I'll take
the forty nine ers here.
Speaker 2 (33:42):
Okay, like that forty nine is a good pick, very
good pick. I think it's a very good pick.
Speaker 4 (33:47):
All right, Jason, Thanks Dan, I'll take it from here.
I'm going to take the again a value pick as well.
I'm looking at plus twelve hundred to win Super Bowl
according to DraftKings plus twelve hundred with the fourth highest
best odds. Philadelphia Eagles. Philadelphia Eagles second round.
Speaker 5 (34:10):
You wonder how much that has to do with their division,
So it could be maybe the easiest opportunity to get
into the playoffs, could be an easier road to take
to get to that number one overall seat. I almost
said road to ho Doug. That was close.
Speaker 2 (34:27):
It happens, Yeah, yes, but I've done before too.
Speaker 5 (34:30):
All Right, you got two Bigs Doug back to back.
Speaker 2 (34:34):
I'm going to go with two AFC teams, the Buffalo Bills.
Speaker 8 (34:39):
I already took them.
Speaker 2 (34:40):
Oh I'm sorry, I said the Cincinni Bengals. Cincinni Bengals,
darn it. And then so I need another NFC team. Huh.
Speaker 4 (34:49):
Sam feels foolish because that was his first round pick
and Doug things that lasted to number eight overall.
Speaker 5 (34:55):
Well, I just told Doug motown to Snowtown.
Speaker 2 (34:57):
Yeah, I know. So he's thinking, he's thinking Minnesota, he's
thinking the Detroit Lions.
Speaker 5 (35:03):
I don't know if Buffalo's called the snowtown, but it
worked for my rhyme.
Speaker 8 (35:07):
It's good rhyme, and clearly I have more faith in
the Bills than Doug.
Speaker 5 (35:10):
Dust Maybe maybe imaging, Maybe they'll put it on TikTok
and it'll take off. Me how Schrager's trying to coin
chiefs Pete. Maybe my motown versus Snowtown will take off.
It does snow there a lot. Yes, I mean, it's
it's pretty, it's pretty accurate.
Speaker 2 (35:25):
I'll go Detroit Lions.
Speaker 5 (35:26):
Okay, Well they were they working with my motown pick.
They were the motown of.
Speaker 2 (35:31):
This Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 5 (35:33):
There you go. They are. They are on the list.
By the way, My fuck because I didn't email the
list to Jason, so we only have the hard copies
here in the studio. So Jason, you are Thank you.
Speaker 4 (35:43):
Dan. I'll take it from here. I'm going to go
with my New York Jets, Aaron Rodgers, my New York
Jets plus two thousand at Draft Kings.
Speaker 5 (35:53):
Right now, that's really really good value. Gosh, give me
the Houston Texans. Give me C. J. Stroud and that defense.
I think they'll win the AFC South. That already gives
them a good step. Io was Sam the final pick?
I like, how you do this, Dan? Because you picked
there's twelve teams total, which is the entire playoff field.
Speaker 8 (36:16):
So now I'm going to plus two. Okay, Now I'm
going to like like a wildcard yep, oh it's fourteen. Now, yeah,
you're right, I'm going to like a wildcard pick here.
I'm gonna go with the Rams.
Speaker 5 (36:24):
Wow, all right, Rams. I wish we had time for
a fourth round, but we don't. There it is.
Speaker 2 (36:30):
I say, Rams were somebody I considered greatly. I don't
think it's crazy, Like the defense was way better we thought.
I know they lost Aaron Donald, but if they have
both wide receivers like dude, that's a good football.
Speaker 5 (36:43):
Maybe in the press, maybe in the press, we'll do
our fourth round because I think that actually is more
intriguing than any of the twelve teams that we picked here.
But that's game time.
Speaker 7 (36:55):
This is game time on the Doug Gottlap Show.
Speaker 2 (36:58):
All right, how about if we did this coming up
next on The Doug Gotlig Show. What if we did
the team that we have great expectations of that is
most likely going to fall off the map. Let's do
that next The Doug Gotlib Show. Fox Sports Radio
