Boom, What Up America. Doug Gottlieb Show, Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (00:26):
Coment to you from the tyrach dot com studios tyrac
dot com.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
We'll let me get there.

Speaker 3 (00:30):
Unmatched selection, fast free shipping, free road has protection over
ten thousand recommend installers tyrat dot com. That's the way
tire buying should be welcome. In quite the night in sports.
Two NFL games last night. One was close, the other
one was an outstanding performance by the Ravens, especially their

(00:54):
offense and Lamar Jackson. Obviously you heard from Dan Byer
some just real tragic injury. He's you know, two days
in a row, right, he had Chris Godwin last night.
You go back to the night before and you had
Brandon Ayuku appears to be done for at least the season,
maybe even more so. There's like there's literally a lot
to get to a lot to get to, but I

(01:18):
want to start with and kind of look ahead to
what's in front of us tonight. Now, the NBA season
gets kicked off tonight. I guess the headline game is
the Lakers taking on the Minnesota Timberwolves. And did you
ever think the Timberwolves would be playing on opening Night?
As you heard from Dan, the Celtics are going to

(01:39):
get their rings. It's just a weird one that the Timberwolves.
I guess it's a tip of the cap. Pay a
ton of respect to the Timberwolves and they're matching up
with the Lakers. The big story from this game is
that there's the very strong likelihood that Lebron James and
Bronni James play on the same floor at the same time.

(02:00):
And what's been leaked out to be likely the second
quarter Ken Griffy Junior and Ken Griffy Senior being attendance
as they take on the Wolves. Here's Lebron James when
he was asked about Ken Griffey Junior and King Griffy
Senior both being in attendance for the season opener.

Speaker 4 (02:15):
I was a fan of King Griffrey Jr. And then
became a friend of King Griffrey Junior from a professional
career and to be able to see what they were
able to do when Griffrey Junior went to Cincinnati and
then you know, being together, and also when he was
younger in Seattle, to be on the field. I always,
you know, kind of reminded of that one play when
it was a pop field in center field and Griffrey
Junior just snuck in and took it from his dad,

(02:37):
and I was like, pretty cool. That was a pretty
cool moment. It was a pretty fun moment. So, you know,
to to be here today and to know that you know,
those guys would be in attendance tonight, you know, while
me and Brianni is you know, on the same team.
It's just a pretty cool, you know, moment in history.

Speaker 2 (02:55):
What would be the basketball equivalent.

Speaker 4 (02:57):
Of you and Ronnie playing together in a basketball game
of accomplishing something like back to back home run. They
had two home rus when they was in Seattle, right, Yeah, yeah,
that was probably two lobs. If I catch a lob
and I Briani gets a lob, that'll probably be equivalent
of that.

Speaker 3 (03:12):
So all good vibes, all good feelings, and you know
there's the relation. They were like, all right, well he
had his dad and we'll be in attendance whatever. And
Ken Graphy's senior, by the way, was not nearly what
Lebron James ever was as a player. And of course
when Ken Griffrey Junior played, he was kind of hanging
on well past his prime. I think the difference here,

(03:36):
I mean, obviously, King Griffy Junior is one of the
great players, a Hall of Famer, one of the great
players in the history of my lifetime playing Major League baseball.
I think the biggest difference here is just that, like,
you have a young player who's was destined for greatness,
and this young player who most people, myself included, believe
doesn't really belong in the NBA, not even close. But look,

(03:58):
publicity stunts happen. Publicity stunts usually happen in the minor
leagues or in places that need attention. And I didn't
think the Lakers are a team playing on opening night
that needs attention. But that's what this is, right, is

(04:19):
there an element to Hey, maybe King Griffey Senior at
that point in time shouldn't have been a major leaguer
and he was holding on where Junior was ready, maybe
that'd be fair, but he was a good, solid Major
leaguer for a long time, and that does not I believe.
I don't think that's anywhere close to what the ceiling
is for Lebron, for Lebron James Jr.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
So I don't know. I just there's a bunch of
parts to it.

Speaker 3 (04:49):
Which just feel so artificial, so artificial, and so you know,
the Laker by giving him a four year guaranteed contract,
like he's got.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
A roster spot. He's got a roster spot.

Speaker 3 (05:08):
And once you give in to this, it's like, are
you really gonna cut Bronnie even after Lebron retires? Probably not,
because you want Lebron James and still come to your games.
And he's the type of guy that would probably be
vindictive and not come. But I talked to an NBA
scout just yesterday and he said, he's not close. He's

(05:31):
not close. And what will happen is he'll probably score
a bucket tonight. Maybe he scores a couple buckets tonight,
but the reality is he's not an NBA player, and
it's not just him. You know, you have Maxwell Lewis,
you have Oh, I'm forgetting the other the point guard,

(05:52):
the Joctri from Indiana last year. Like, that's three guys
that have roster spots at spot, you know, thirteen, fourteen, fifteen,
and they're not NBA players. And he's even far further
down the list than those two. So but I guess
my thing is if you're gonna do the dog and

(06:13):
Pony show, I like that you're doing early in the year.
I don't know why you do it game one? Shouldn't
you do it game two when less people are paying attention?
But it is interesting on how Lebron I think because
of not in spite of because of his greatness, has
been allowed to get away with so many things, and
this is just the latest of those things. Like there's

(06:35):
nothing that his son has accomplished as a player that
would dictate that he should be in the NBA.

Speaker 2 (06:43):
And even even though he's in the NBA.

Speaker 3 (06:46):
Nothing outside of a massive forty to fifty point lead
or forty to fifty point deficit mandates that he should
actually play in an NBA game. But here he's going
to byro Will you watch? Are you fascinated by this anyway?

Speaker 5 (07:04):
I'm not fascinated by it, but it will it will
be on.

Speaker 2 (07:08):
I mean, well, beyond because it's the first NBA game,
or beyond because you want to see that Bronnie.

Speaker 5 (07:13):
I think a little. I think a little of both.
I'm not sitting there tuning in saying I need to
see this bit of NBA history because I do feel
that it's pretty contrived. But I will watch to try
to see what the moment is like, to see how
it's all handled, to actually see how Bronnie James fars

(07:34):
in whatever minutes he ends up getting, whether it be
first half minutes or second half minutes or whatever the
case may be. But yeah, I will. I'll be interested
to see how it plays out.

Speaker 3 (07:48):
What do you think, Jase? Do I know you're a
super cynic Chris Purfett? Where are you on tonight? And
how much you'll watch?

Speaker 6 (07:57):
I'm at like probably thirty percent. There's a larger problem
in that. I feel like, especially the NBA is on
twenty four to seven and shoved down my throat constantly October.
I want to reserve for football, so having this is
like the ooh, look at me event here when there's

(08:18):
other stuff on. I laugh at me if you want,
but I think I would rather watch a a eight
one in six two and four utep Luell louisianattacked game tonight.
It's football season. I'm sorry, like this is this is
basketball overload.

Speaker 3 (08:36):
NBA basketball has crept up on me. I said that yesterday,
and I think it's because baseball has has kept my
attention that I you know, it's like three college football,
Pro football, and baseball, Like I'm three sports.

Speaker 2 (08:50):
I'm good. So NBA has crept up.

Speaker 6 (08:52):
We had a Sunday which had Mets, Dodgers and the
Jets game, and still my time line was full of
people talking about the w NBA final And that's fine,
they can have their final there.

Speaker 3 (09:04):
But that's just your algorithm, dude. That just shows where
you've been.

Speaker 6 (09:08):
No, I partially, but at the same time, my point
is that the basketball is now a three hundred and
sixty five pro basketball is a three hundred and sixty
five days sport, and I'm like, we're starting the season already.

Speaker 2 (09:19):
I hit me up the Olympics.

Speaker 3 (09:24):
The Olympics made it seem like, yes, absolutely, it just ended, and.

Speaker 2 (09:27):
We're like, wait, didn't this just end? But that didn't
just happen.

Speaker 5 (09:31):
I don't disagree with anything that Chris said, and I
think you're spot on with the Olympics as well. But
to have a one night sort of event like this
to see how it's going to play out doesn't mean
that now you have to be locked in for the
next two months. But on a night like tonight, when
we're waiting for a World Series and the NFL is

(09:52):
done for this time, I think it's at least worth
checking out.

Speaker 7 (09:56):
Can I tell you how it's gonna play out? Your
Twitter timeline and all of your social media is going
to be filled with the ISO pick with the Griffy
Senior Junior and the two and then god forbid, lebron
and Bronnie do something connect for an assist and a
bucket or whatever. It's going to be reissued by every

(10:20):
sports entity on social media. They are going to fall
for this sideshow, as fabricated as it is, and how
much the Lakers have been lying to us from day
one about the prospect of Bronnie playing on the Lakers.
The media is going to fall for this thing, hook
line and sinker, and it's gonna make me sick.

Speaker 5 (10:39):
Because all of it fall for what fall for.

Speaker 7 (10:42):
What going to fall forward is they're going to repurpose
the video of Bronni throwing an assist to Lebron or whatever,
whatever the one moment is from tonight's game. Everybody is
going to repurpose it on their social media. And with
each look, I'm going to get more and more aggravated

(11:04):
how we all fell for this. Hearing Lebron talk right there,
it sounds like it's definitely his idea to fly in
the Griffies for this. The Griffies is kind of a
weird idea. I didn't think it was it came from
the Lakers, and now I'm almost confirmed that it came
from Lebron.

Speaker 5 (11:18):
Well, you also then have to play him tonight exactly,
you know, like there's like that's that's the other point
is that, Okay, he is going to play tonight. There
is going to be a moment. It's not hey, we're
up by twenty five or down by twenty five, like
you bring them in. You have to you have to
play him.

Speaker 3 (11:36):
Totally agree, it's a it's a side show. I don't
enjoy the side show in that you know, you're making
it seem like he's a legit NBA prospect and it's
just not the case. And I do like on some
level that they're getting it out of the way now.

(11:56):
But I don't like that they're getting out of the way
now because it feels like this should be an end
of the year deal. Like look, I played in the
usbl usbl was a really good league talent wise May
and June, and when I played in it, I was
the number one overall pick. I probably played in Eden, Oklahoma.
There was a team that was owned by Roy Jones Junior.
This was when he was the heavy midiweight champion of

(12:16):
the world. And Roy Jones Junior, believe it or not,
played and had thirty three points against US. Now he've
had thirty three points because he took thirty three shots
with thirty four shots and our owner actually checked into
the game like for like two or three minutes of
the last game of the year.

Speaker 2 (12:33):
It was kind of for fun whatever.

Speaker 3 (12:35):
But Roy Jones Junior actually had like thirty four points,
but he shot the ball every time he got it.
But that's like a summer pro league development league whatever.
This is the NBA and it's game one and we're
given a guy who couldn't play dead at USC last
year like he was. They were terrible and when he started,

(12:58):
they were they. I don't believe they. I think they
won one game when he started, maybe be Oregon State,
Not even sure he started that game. Like he's and
I'm not saying he's a bad basketball player, He's just
an NBA player.

Speaker 6 (13:10):
I think this is reinforcing my sinking dread of why
I'm trying not to watch the NBA tonight. You say
that that's what's leading off this league's storylines with there's
nothing else, are you guys? Not nothing else with this
NBA right now? This is a very boring league right now?
Are you guys not as offended as I am by
how artificial this is? Because the reason that people tune

(13:31):
into sports is because it's it's something that's live, that
isn't predictable, And this is so artificial, has a script
to it, and it was all Lebron's doing, and he's
gonna try so hard to get that one moment on
the basketball court and at the thing that will come
secondary is trying to beat the Timberwolves.

Speaker 5 (13:53):
Yeah, the dot winning seems secondary for her and for
an organization that prides its off on the banner, Well, that's.

Speaker 3 (14:01):
That's the part that I think Jason, you and I
have been all over is that, Like, look, if it's
a year where you're not going to be super competitive,
like all right, but don't tell us that the only
thing that's important for Lebron is to win one more championship.
You draft Dalton Dalton Connect too, I like, but Dalton
connect is he's a guy who he's older, he's more developed,

(14:23):
he's not a prospect for the future. Like again, don't
mind the draft pick, but don't tell me that your
everything is about winning a championship. When Game one you
give the son of the best player you know a
chance to run around and then you put him in
the G League whenever, Like that doesn't make any sense.

Speaker 5 (14:40):
What I do think will happen on what Jason is saying,
And this is what is annoying about it is it's
we think it's truly about Lebron, and it is. But
what I think Jason is saying, Jesse, you could completely
tell me if I'm wrong. Is also everybody who's going
to jump onto this and try to make it for
themselves by trying to say what a what a great

(15:03):
moment this is. You know you're they're gonna hear fake
stories made up and then also then try to make
it about themselves because that is how you want to
be portrayed on social media. Is that fair?

Speaker 7 (15:16):
That's my point that it's going to be the one
comment magical moment. Yeah, in Los Angeles when it was fabricated,
there's nothing organic about it.

Speaker 5 (15:26):
Somebody cutting onions, you know, like you're gonna get that one. Yeah,
that one as well.

Speaker 3 (15:32):
That that's honestly, Dan, that's one of the best points
you've ever made. I'm not I'm not sucking up at
you in any way.

Speaker 2 (15:39):
That's the part. It's Jason.

Speaker 3 (15:41):
But yeah, no, but yeah, but I thought I thought
you kind of like Jason has has a little bit
of his knife is sharper, right, he's like a surgeon,
like cutting through the bs with one of those like
super sharp surgeon blades, whereas you're.

Speaker 2 (15:55):
Just like a rusty saw.

Speaker 3 (15:57):
Yeah, here's what's kind of gonna happen. And I I
just thought about that, and you're right, there's gonna be
like this, this this emotion of I can't believe and
finally here and look there is a there is an
amazing part to the kid almost died.

Speaker 2 (16:11):
But we're it's like a he's like a make a
wish kid here.

Speaker 5 (16:15):
Yeah, it's not about Bronni, It's about Lebron.

Speaker 2 (16:18):
It's about Lebron.

Speaker 3 (16:20):
And I've I mean, we've said this, and I'm not
saying this from a from a place of like hatred
or I like, of course I wish I made the NBA.
And don't get me wrong, like if we want to
fully disclosed stuff, I was with the Lakers three summers
in a row. Really, the only reason I ever got

(16:41):
my foot in the door with the Lakers was my
dad was an assistant coach to text Winner, and Texts
believed in me as a player, and he made sure
that I got those invites. Now, I was a terrible
fit for the Lakers, right think of who their point
guards were and the guys that beat me out, Guys
like Mike Penberthys, credible shooter. Obviously Derek Fisher was the starter.

(17:02):
Like you go back, like, I'm not those guys. I'm
gonna need the basketball, you know. I was like a
poor man's version of Rondo. So the point is like
I couldn't have made in my best day, and I
did have some of my best days. I wasn't a
good fit for it, and so we used a connection
and a relationship to get an opportunity, and anybody would,

(17:27):
but at some point you have to earn it and
get there. Like it's one thing to get a camp invite,
it's one thing to even be on a G League team.
Like Dwayne Wade bought a G League team so his son,
who didn't play in college, could play in the G League. Now,
they were the worst G League team by a mile
when his son was on the team. I don't know
if you guys watched that, like they were losing his
by forty and fifty points to it.

Speaker 2 (17:48):
She were like, yeah, this is bad.

Speaker 3 (17:49):
Doesn't work because now if you buy the team and
your kids on the team, guess who's gonna play and
a lot like Brownie in the preseason, if you play
them a lot, they got beat by fifty eight points
in the one that he played a lot of.

Speaker 2 (18:03):
He's not close to an NBA player.

Speaker 3 (18:07):
So when we have this like emotion of I can't
believe you made it, Like I do understand yet your
kid almost died a year in like a month ago.

Speaker 2 (18:18):
That's remarkable, but the reward shouldn't.

Speaker 3 (18:21):
Be playing in the NBA game it's bring him out
before the national anthem and everybody waves to him, and
he goes back and plays in college. And yet we're
gonna act like this is on the up and up,
which it is just not. And the broadcasters get me
in a bad situation too, ESPN doing the game. I mean,

(18:42):
do you think for one second they're gonna be critical
and be like, it's not really an NBA player. There's
no other NBA teams that would have him on their
roster opening day, and yet he's not only gonna be
on the roster, but gonna play like that doesn't make
any sense.

Speaker 5 (18:56):
Yeah, TNT has the games tonight.

Speaker 8 (18:58):
But.

Speaker 3 (19:00):
Not fun that One's not that. That's like, broadcasting games
is the most fun I love. I'm in no disrespect.
I love hanging out with you guys. I love broadcasting
games TV games that people watch that.

Speaker 2 (19:13):
I love it.

Speaker 3 (19:14):
But the part that you don't love about the job
is the parts where they go, hey, man, don't say
a thing, naive bro brownie. And we could sit here
and go like, if I was doing it, I would
know you wouldn't you would do what your boss told.

Speaker 2 (19:28):
You to do.

Speaker 9 (19:29):
Be sure to catch the live edition of the Doug
Gottlieb Show weekdays at three pm Eastern noon Pacific on
Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 3 (19:41):
Doug Gottlieb Show, Fox Sports Radio. Robert Rory, seven time
NBA champion, I'll join us momentarily. So was it a
hip drop tackle? Because I'll be totally honest with you.
They had both games on H plus, I was watching
some film and the legend carry head coach at Green Bay,

(20:01):
Dick Bennett. We had an event last night prior to
the injury. Event was done about eight o'clock local. Then
we were watching the game, but I was in a
room and I was talking with a bunch of people byer.

Speaker 2 (20:14):
Was that a hip drop tackle?

Speaker 5 (20:16):
I'll be completely honest with you, Doug. After hearing about
Chris Godwin's injury, because I was watching the other game,
I did not want to see it, So I have
not seen the tackle. I unfortunately stumbled upon a still
graphics shot of Chris Godwin today. Yeah, thanks a lot
for you, instead of the following.

Speaker 2 (20:34):
Yeah, I can send it to me because I love that.

Speaker 5 (20:35):
I No, I don't want to go back and see it,
but yeah, I did not see the exact tackle tackle
that it happened.

Speaker 3 (20:42):
Right, we get, We'll get I'll check it out on
the old Twitter machine, and I'll get back to your
report back. Robert Ory played sixteen years in the NBA
and he I mean, listen, nine of those years he
didn't win a championship. I mean, I don't know what
happened on those year. Seven time NBA champion. Of course,
he's known as big Shot Bob, and he's here. I'm
half a bet online. Check out bet online for updated
NBA title, conference, division and awards odds, plus updated win

(21:05):
totals and player stats.

Speaker 2 (21:08):
Robert, thanks so much for taking time.

Speaker 3 (21:10):
It does feel like, I don't know, Usually there's hype
and drama to start the NBA season. Doesn't feel like
we have that this year. I'm wondering if you you
can tell me why.

Speaker 8 (21:26):
Probably because the Celtics won and nobody really cares about
the Celtics. I'm just kids, No, you know what, there's
nothing to really talk about. You know, only thing we
talk about, you know, Kawhi being her and b being
her is the same old, same o. And I think
this is the one year that you know, we really
don't know who's gonna win it, you know, everybody's picking

(21:47):
Boston at thirteen or four to win it. But I think, okay,
see who's at sixty one? That is my favorite. You know,
if I had the mind to bet, I would bet
on it because it's all about adding stuff. I think
the pair ready, it's so great in the NBA. Now,
that's why there's no drama.

Speaker 7 (22:04):
You know.

Speaker 8 (22:04):
It's not like the dominant Lakers in two thousand, where
you just do we was gonna wreck ha it for
the next three to four years.

Speaker 3 (22:11):
Okay, let's talk about the Lakers. Where are they in
the packing order and competing for a championship?

Speaker 8 (22:17):
To me, I'm looking at the team. You always have
to look at did you get better over the summer
and you added connecting? But Lebron and Ad got older,
and so I think there's still a playing team.

Speaker 5 (22:31):
You know.

Speaker 8 (22:31):
I hope they prove your wrong because I do do
their television. That means I get to work a little
longer and make a little bit more money. But I
think for me, there's still a playing team. And there's
some other simple fact that you got to think about this.
Houston is gonna be good. Okay, see you got better.
Memphis is gonna be good because John's back. The Kings

(22:52):
are gonna be better because you know, they added DeMar
and of course Sons are gonna be better now because
they got it a year they built playing with the
Big three. So I just think everybody in the West
got better except Denver.

Speaker 3 (23:07):
Okay as a as a guy who made it and
won seven NBA titles. What are your thoughts on the
Lakers having Brownie James probably play tonight.

Speaker 8 (23:19):
I think it's best that they let him play tonight.
Get it out the way, so all the hype of
Father's Son duo, you know, can be done and get
back to the business of basketball, because this is what
it's about. It's not making history, but first Father the
Son is about winning championships because that's what the Lake
organization is used to. That's what they you know, they're
known for. They got to go back to business of basketball,
get all the fanfare and the hype out of the way,

(23:42):
and try to get Ad to do his you know,
started dominic rain and trying to get the MVP because
we know JJ, that's what he's talked about. And so
hopefully we can see if they're gonna implement it. Because
there's always different when the lights come on, everybody have
a different agenda.

Speaker 3 (23:58):
Everybody does have a different agenda. That's that's very, very true.
You know, I'm I'm fascinated though, Like he's not an
NBA player at this point.

Speaker 2 (24:08):
Do do you do you.

Speaker 3 (24:10):
Think other guys than Lakers are all in on this,
on this project, all in on this plan.

Speaker 8 (24:16):
I think they're in it for one game and they'll
be down with it because it's about winning. You know,
you can do it for one game and I don't.
I don't, And the way Connect has been played, I
think he's no room room to really, you know, to say, hey,
let's try to give us some experienced experiences, but to
be done in some league experience, both be done in
the exhibition games, you know, for preseason. So I think

(24:38):
the players know what what's the hand. It's about making
the King happy, getting it out of way, and then
getting back to it.

Speaker 3 (24:45):
Robert Rory Jonas on behalf of bet Online Stut Gotleib
Show here on Fox Sports Radio. Okay, you mentioned Kawhi.
They open up this incredible new arena, but they're not
going to be very good. Like last year, there was
a there was there was probably a month there where
you could say Clippers might be the best team in
the NBA. Kawhi couldn't stay healthy. What's this year look

(25:08):
like for the Clippers?

Speaker 8 (25:10):
You know what, that's one of those question marks because
is this gonna be a year where Harden goes back
to Harden's Rockets and take over that team with Norman
Power be able to step up because he's a really
good player for them, will he better step up and
show that he can do more? So it's you know,
there's a rumor going around that he that they're actually

(25:32):
a better defensive team than they were last year. I'm like,
aren't you missing Paul George and Kawhile Lennitt and y'all
are better defensive team. I don't really know about that,
but I think the biggest the key for it, it's
gonna be a player that nobody's going to talk about,
but it's gonna be very vital. But he can make

(25:53):
the team this year or even be edgeble And that's
Kevin Porter Jr. You know, people forget how good he
was for the Rocket you know, I know he had
them off the off the courtroom. But to fill a void,
he needs someone with some offensive punch to fill a void,
and that guy has it, So we'll see what happens
with that.

Speaker 2 (26:11):
What about Steph Curry? How does how does his career
line down?

Speaker 8 (26:17):
You know what? You look at certain players around the
league and you say, will they ever play for another team?
And Steph would never play for another team and he
probably would never win another championship because I just don't
think that they're going to have the ability to get
players to come into their organization. I don't think big
Gonn people who who are going to say, am I

(26:39):
going to sacrifice to go play with an agent? You
know Steph? So I hate it for him, But you know,
will are with the organization saying, Okay, you've been so
good to us, You're going to send you where you
want in order for you to, you know, build on
your legacy and run another championship. But I think the
dynasty or Courto dynasty and that in the San Francisco

(27:01):
and the area is done.

Speaker 3 (27:04):
Stut Gottlieb Show Here on Fox Sports Radio. Robert Ory
is our guest, joined us to have a bet online.
Seven time NBA champion. You may know him as Big
Shot Bob Okay The Knicks UH last year Eastern Conference Finals,
and then they get rid of Julius Randall and bring
in Karl Anthony Towns, who's an elite shooter, is a
big guy, but has not always played well in the playoffs.

(27:28):
What are your thoughts on that mix of players and
how they play for tips?

Speaker 8 (27:33):
Well, I think, you know, you are a lot of
teams go as they head coach go. And I think
Carl Anthony Towns has been a situation where I think
he had two maybe three coaches over there in Minnesota.
But now he's where everybody, everybody on the league know
hot tears is. He's a tough minded he's tough note
you're punching the face type of coach. So I think

(27:53):
cat cold demeanor is going to change. I think he's
gonna go out and play. You know, he knows he
has to play defensive, you know, still on the floor
because he don't get tills wrong. He'll go small ball
to second you know, with brunts and heart, you know.
And now, oh we talk about that, I forgot about.
They also picked up Oh God, Bridges, Kel Bridges.

Speaker 2 (28:15):
You know that. Did you see what happened to a shot?

Speaker 8 (28:17):
Though? Huh?

Speaker 2 (28:19):
Have you seen what's happened to Michail Bridges shot.

Speaker 8 (28:22):
No I haven't.

Speaker 2 (28:23):
Oh man, it's it's.

Speaker 8 (28:25):
Got You just need to play.

Speaker 2 (28:27):
You got no, no, no, no, dude. They somebody, somebody
messed with his shot and he's got a hitch.

Speaker 8 (28:32):
Now, well, you know, this is the one thing I
laugh at all these guys who have success and all
of a sudden they tell them gonna change my shot,
and they go these quote unquote uh shot doctors and
professional shooters. I'm like, dude, you just just just look
at yourself and you know, you know what feels good.
But you know, I feel they overall defensively, Him and
Og are two guys that can stop anybody on the floor.

(28:54):
So they're gonna get a good defensive team. And now
they got Cat, they got some some inside president. It's
Cat wants play inside out.

Speaker 3 (29:02):
Yeah, he'll play outside and then Brunson will play inside.

Speaker 2 (29:06):
Right.

Speaker 3 (29:06):
I mean that's that's literally how they play. It's like
almost inverting, inverting their offense. If you were gonna go
to bet online and bet on a team to win it,
who would you bet on?

Speaker 8 (29:15):
I'm betting the ok See, you know, I know there's
six to one under the underdog and they got the
stuffs to win it all. But I just like to
do what you know, OKAYC did this summer, you know,
thinking they took heart and style from the Knicks, and
they added a guy who can you know, a new
chility guy like a C. French. So I think they
added the pieces they needed to take them to the top.

Speaker 3 (29:36):
Great stuff, Robert, thank you so much for joining us.
We thanks to the folks to bet Online. Honored to
catch up with you. Look forward to seeing you on
the TV side.

Speaker 8 (29:44):
Thank you, and congratulations on your new gig.

Speaker 2 (29:47):
Thanks Robert.

Speaker 3 (29:48):
That's big shot Bob joining us to the Doug Gottlieb
Show here on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 9 (29:51):
Be sure to catch the live edition of The Doug
Gottlieb Show weekdays at three pm Eastern noon Pacific.

Speaker 2 (30:02):
The Doug Gottlieb Show, Fox Sports Radio. First day of
the NBA season. Stuck up on us? Isn't it stuck
up on us? Name?

Speaker 3 (30:17):
I think it's because we actually care about the World Series,
or at least I actually care about the World Series.
Interested in your guys opinions? You can share them on
social media at Gottlieb Show, Twitter or Instagram. In the meantime,
let's get some questions, Let's get a game. Let's get
to Dan Byer.

Speaker 9 (30:40):
This is game time on the Doug Gottlieb Show.

Speaker 2 (30:47):
Hey Dan, what do you got, Doug?

Speaker 5 (30:50):
The game today is rank them? All, right, Doug, rank
your top three MVP candidates in the National Football League.
There are updated odds from that online following last night's
Monday Night affair, but your top three MVP candidates as
of right now at three.

Speaker 3 (31:10):
At three, I'm gonna go with Pat Mahomes. I know
the numbers don't support but it's the best team in
the NFL. At two, I'm going to go with Lamar Jackson.

Speaker 2 (31:24):
And with one, I'm gonna go with Jared Goff. Jared Goff,
He's been really good.

Speaker 3 (31:30):
I mean, has Lamar Jackson been a better player throughout
his career, Yeah, but Jared Goff's been better this year.

Speaker 5 (31:35):
There is something with Lamar Jackson, the Ravens. They do
this stuff on Monday Night Football. He's done this other times,
these five touchdown games. Like when they get rolling, it
is just it is tough to it is so difficult
to stop. They get they just get i mean rolling
downhill with high about of speed, but I like, I

(31:58):
do think that the Lines are the best team in
the NFL. So I'd like to golf pick at number one.
All Right, Doug, rank your top three disappointment so far
in the NFL season. There are plenty.

Speaker 2 (32:11):
I know there are. It's a great question.

Speaker 3 (32:17):
I'm not disappointed, but I think they definitely are. Dallas
Cowboys will put them at three.

Speaker 2 (32:24):
Put them at three.

Speaker 3 (32:28):
I mean, I think the New Orleans Saints, and maybe
I'm disappointed because of the start. They got out too
and we didn't know, but that ship is sinking fast.
Put them at at two.

Speaker 5 (32:40):
Yep, longest losing streak in the NFL. I actually take
that back Patriots too, but in the NFC at least.

Speaker 3 (32:49):
And I guess the next one's hard because injuries really
have befallen them, and there's a lot of them and
they're starting to add up.

Speaker 2 (32:59):
But I don't think anybody could look at.

Speaker 3 (33:00):
The San Francisco forty nine ers who don't think so
far it's been disappointed nine ers one I agree with that.
The only one that I didn't list that probably could
have could have listed in terms of being a disappointment
is the New York Jets. But my expectations weren't super high,
but they're I'm study at al Aaron Rodgers's aged.

Speaker 5 (33:25):
Doug, rank your top three players in the World Series.

Speaker 2 (33:29):
No Baron Judge at three, Mookie Bets at two, show
Hey a Tania one.

Speaker 5 (33:43):
Interesting? No Wan Soto two Yankees taking spots one and two.
All right, Doug. This team is ranked thirteenth in the
College Football AP Top twenty five rankings. But this is
not exclusive to college football. Rank your top three Indiana Hoosiers.

(34:05):
So when you say Indiana Hoosiers, who do you think
if we've done this with NFL teams before, We've done
this with NBA teams, and I think even Major League Baseball.
But when you see Indiana Hoosiers, or say Indiana Hoosiers,
top three names that come to mind?

Speaker 2 (34:20):
Wow, that is a great question. I don't like.

Speaker 3 (34:31):
I know that you could do Tom Benson, you could
do Dan Dockets, you could do Isaiah Thomas. But they don't.
They don't resonate with me because I didn't. I didn't
see him play. Yeah, I didn't see him play. So
when I think Indiana Hoosiers, Wow, this is a good question.

Speaker 2 (34:52):
I know who number one is.

Speaker 3 (34:53):
Yeah, I'm gonna I'm gonna say Brian Evans at three. Okay,
Mike Lewis, my dear friend who's head coach at ball
State had two and Steve Alford of one.

Speaker 5 (35:07):
Oh wow, I thought you were going to say Bob Knight.

Speaker 2 (35:10):
Oh, I was thinking to players, it was just Indiana.
Who's yours? Period?

Speaker 5 (35:14):
Mark Cuban could be put in that he went to Indiana. Sure, which,
by the way, if Phil Knight is going to do
what he does to Oregon, why doesn't Cuban do that
with Indiana.

Speaker 2 (35:24):
I don't think he believes in it.

Speaker 3 (35:26):
Well just I mean, and they have a lot of money.
Money has not been an issue there. I suppose that
they have a six million dollar payroll in their nil
for basketball. I don't think money is the issue. I
think they have chosen poorly in several different key spots.

Speaker 5 (35:43):
I did the end well, the football program has certainly
turned around, Kyle.

Speaker 2 (35:47):
How amazing is that story?

Speaker 5 (35:48):
By the way, Yeah, just Kurt Signetty doing his thing
in Bloomington and taking it to the Cornhuskers this past weekend. Finally, Doug,
rank your favorite first as a coach? You have your
was it first exhibition game? Coming up on Thursday.

Speaker 3 (36:04):
Well, we had our first scrimmage Saturday. It's a secret scrimmage,
so the results will remain secret.

Speaker 5 (36:09):
This is an exhibition though coming in.

Speaker 3 (36:11):
This is an exhibition tomorrow against Saint Norbert's. So yeah, uh,
first practice, yes.

Speaker 2 (36:18):
It is okay the Crest Center.

Speaker 3 (36:19):
If you're listing in the in the Fox Valley on
our new affiliate in Appleton. First I would say, obviously
first win will be number one, but we're not there yet.

Speaker 2 (36:31):
But it has to be regular season win.

Speaker 3 (36:32):
Right whatever, first scrimmage win would be great, first exhibition
win and then first actual win in that order.

Speaker 5 (36:40):
I would be I honestly would just be like number
three would be first time I hear and coach oh
the Green Bay Phoenix, Doug Gottlieb like that. That would
be a top.

Speaker 3 (36:50):
It'll be it'll be very cool when at Gallagher IVO,
when that's my fur first real game.

Speaker 2 (36:54):
To be a lot of a lot of the fields,
a lot of the fields.

Speaker 5 (36:58):
Yes, that's game time.

Speaker 9 (37:00):
Game, This is game time on the Doug Gottlieb Show.

Speaker 3 (37:06):
My good friend Larry Rees will be on the PA
for that one. Coming up with the Doug Gottlieb Show.
Live from the tyrack dot Com studios.

Speaker 2 (37:14):
You don't want to do.

Speaker 3 (37:15):
I want to give him my takeaways from last night's
Ravens win. Lot lot to that win. We'll get to
it next The Doug Gotlieb Show, Fox Sports Tradio
