Yes, yes, we're not gonna talk about the top everybody,
No Jets.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
I don't even think we're gonna talk about the Cowboys.

Speaker 4 (00:46):
We don't need to.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
We don't need to. We don't need to. We have
a great show for you.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
How is your Thanksgiving?

Speaker 5 (01:05):
My Thanksgiving was small, safe, fun. I just I'm just
throwing out advocates right now.

Speaker 2 (01:12):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, no.

Speaker 4 (01:14):
No, it was good. I like to keep it small.

Speaker 5 (01:16):
I'm very and I'm very I'm an intimate person in general,
so I like to keep it really, you know that,
keep it closed. I'm not like, I don't go out.
I don't really get in the midst of things.

Speaker 4 (01:25):
So it was fun.

Speaker 5 (01:26):
I did that, had some food, and then we went
and saw Wicked last night, which was which was pretty cool.

Speaker 2 (01:30):
Have you seen Wicked musical like on stage?

Speaker 4 (01:33):
I have not.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
You have not, So what did you think though of
the movie?

Speaker 4 (01:35):
And see, that's what I was about to say.

Speaker 5 (01:37):
So I didn't see the stage play, and so I've
had those moments of seeing the stage playing then seeing it,
you know, brought to you on the big.

Speaker 4 (01:44):
Screen, and it's been awful.

Speaker 5 (01:45):
Correct, And so I asked my friend who was with me, like,
how did it stack up?

Speaker 4 (01:48):
And she said it was. It was great.

Speaker 5 (01:50):
She said it was a good movie, and I was like,
all right, So I just saw the movie and I
enjoyed the movie.

Speaker 3 (01:56):
You enjoyed it, that's good. I have heard positive things
from people who have seen the stage performance and then
seen it on the big screen. I haven't seen it.
I love the musical itself on stage. I've seen it
five times, one time in London and I went crazy.
So I will be watching it and I have heard
positive things, so I'm very excited about it. What's the
worst thing that you ate for Thanksgiving?

Speaker 5 (02:16):
The worst thing that I ate? You're gonna be upset. Now.
I know we're friends, and I know we're I know
we're really cool, right, but I had a little piece
of a piece of turkey, which was was actually the
worst thing that I had.

Speaker 4 (02:30):
And I'm not lying, And.

Speaker 3 (02:31):
That's that's actually I guess most people, if you're a listener, maybe.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
You've heard that I'm a vegetarian. Yes i am, But.

Speaker 3 (02:38):
To me, I feel like carnivores are also like, Oh
I love Thanksgiving.

Speaker 2 (02:42):
I love the mashed potatoes, green beans. It's always the
sides that are being made.

Speaker 3 (02:47):
And so it's like, so, why are we killing all
these turkeys for this one day, for this one day
when people don't even care? You know what, I'm saying
Martin gets it. I just know everyone's always like I like.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
All the other stuff.

Speaker 3 (02:59):
Yes, but yet here we are, and you know, everyone's
pretending they like turkey. And even when I had turkey,
I never like. I was like, I don't get it.
And Peo were like, you never had good turkey. I
was like, that's everyone told me this is the turkey
you're gonna like, Just like bacon, Beckon to me, does
not taste as good as it smells.

Speaker 4 (03:14):
Mazi, I'll tell you, though, fried turkey is different. Have
you had fried?

Speaker 2 (03:18):
I have not had fried? Okay, now that deep fried?

Speaker 6 (03:22):
Yes?

Speaker 3 (03:22):
Yes, okay, well that sounds amazing.

Speaker 5 (03:27):
No, deep fried turkey. De fried turkey is actually good.
But just the regular turkey that's you know, in the oven, it's.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
It's I just don't get it. I just don't get it.

Speaker 3 (03:36):
One thing I don't like, though, sweet mashed potatoes with
like marshmallows on them, talking about.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
Like but like, why are we putting mash Why are
we putting marshmallows on it?

Speaker 4 (03:48):
I don't It's dessert.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
It's dessert, and but it's not the turkey next.

Speaker 3 (03:52):
To the regular mashed potatoes, next to the green beans,
which is my favorite touch. By the way, don't ask
me how to make it because I don't know. I
don't cook, I don't clean.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
Like, yeah, it's hard. You could teach, you could give
me if you'd like.

Speaker 3 (04:05):
But we hope all of you had a nice, safe,
fun Thanksgiving with whoever you were with. But it's Friday,
and less than twenty four hours, or about twenty four
hours later, the Bears have made a decision that I
think we.

Speaker 2 (04:19):
All knew yesterday, Yes we all.

Speaker 3 (04:20):
We were just all waiting when are the Bears going
to fire Matt eber Flus.

Speaker 2 (04:26):
They made him have a conference to day like.

Speaker 3 (04:29):
He spoke to the media and they asked him like, oh,
what do you think and he's like, no, I.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
Think I'll be here. Everything's good and positive. Two ish
hours later, three hours later.

Speaker 3 (04:38):
It was announced that he was fired. But he did
have a press conference this morning. Wow, why would you
make him do that?

Speaker 5 (04:45):
It's for them. Happened to endure what they endure in
the game. Yesterday got it.

Speaker 4 (04:50):
It was back.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
It was payback. I never thought of it. You are ready.
I got those thirty seconds, Carrie Man.

Speaker 4 (04:56):
I was pulling my hair out, I.

Speaker 3 (04:57):
Was running on the treadmill. You know, I like to
run run on the t now watching this game, and
I am.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
Yelling call time out, and I.

Speaker 3 (05:06):
Was able to yell that so many times because of
how much time was left.

Speaker 2 (05:10):
The Bears had one time out.

Speaker 3 (05:12):
He gets sat Caleb Williams with about thirty seconds to go,
and you're like, let's go, let's go. You have two
opportunities left, you're down by three, you're around midfield. You
have a chance to actually tie the game and go
to overtime. Now, what's gonna happen in overtime? That's a
separate conversation. Yeah, you know, you maybe would have lost
to the Detroit Lions, and Detroit sure, sure, yeah, but
you had There was no way anybody was watching that

(05:32):
game thinking we're not going to overtime, right, Like everybody
was like, all right, well, I guess we're gonna have
a little extra game here, but.

Speaker 2 (05:39):
No time out. And then Caleb, it's.

Speaker 3 (05:42):
Like Matt Eberflus to me, it's like this was all
on you. Caleb Williams looked like he was trying to
get the team going, put him in a position, and
then they were all lined up and he still waited
ten seconds to snap the ball like it.

Speaker 5 (05:58):
I'll tell you why. I'll tell you why I saw it.
So what actually happened there? Obviously you should have two
plays going to the line of scrimmers. That should be automatic, right,
you should be in an attack mode. So that means
you're going to be prepared for all right, if we
have an incompletion, we can huddle back up. If we
catch the ball in play, we're going to have two

(06:19):
plays ready, so the next play is already there. You
keep the same personnel out there. That's what a well
coached team would do. Now, when you saw them, they
weren't scramble mode. They were not prepared. And when you
saw those ten seconds where Caleb didn't snap.

Speaker 2 (06:33):
The ball, he was the defense.

Speaker 5 (06:35):
He didn't even like the look and so he was
trying to get to know the play. So it's just
like and he.

Speaker 2 (06:39):
Said that that he changed his decision last minute.

Speaker 4 (06:42):
You can see that.

Speaker 3 (06:42):
And even with him saying all that, I really I
don't put a lot of blame on Caleb Williams.

Speaker 4 (06:47):
Someone on that.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
Right, It's like you are the coach.

Speaker 3 (06:50):
You in that moment when you realize that they were
not quickly executing a play. They obviously weren't comfortable, So
why not like call a time out, everyone down and
actually run a successful quick play where you can get
out of bounds and maybe go for a field goal,
like give yourself a chance.

Speaker 2 (07:08):
Yes, but you didn't even to give yourself a chance.

Speaker 4 (07:10):
Zero.

Speaker 5 (07:11):
I got a question for you at all, over under?
How many times did you say call time out? And
that's man, honest?

Speaker 3 (07:16):
Over over ten, over ten, as I'm running, As I'm
running like I.

Speaker 2 (07:20):
Was, taught him out, called him out, Okay, call him out, Jesse.

Speaker 3 (07:23):
It was unreal that they just sat there and didn't
do anything. And it's like, you know, he did not
get fired for last night. Six losses in a row.
None of them have been good losses. I know those
are hard to come by. Good losses, yes, but there
are good losses out there.

Speaker 2 (07:44):
None of those have been good losses.

Speaker 3 (07:46):
Against your Cardinals, I think they put up nine.

Speaker 2 (07:49):
It was bad. It was bad. Against the Patriots they
put up three. That's even worse. Lost to the Packers
by one, loss to the Vikings by three.

Speaker 4 (07:59):
Yeah, and last night, yeah that's good.

Speaker 5 (08:02):
This yeah, this, this makes it hard too, Like you
just said those losses should be easily wins, and with
the talent that they have, because they do have talent,
it stings. And so and I in hearing from like
your resident Bears fans, I mean, I did the show
with Mike the other day and and you know he's
a Bears fan. He says, like ebra flu's is this
guy so right? Like he everything is kind of honky

(08:25):
dory when it's not. There's no real in depth discussion
about what happened, like even last night, right, like about
what happened last night. It's like there's nothing in depth
about it. And so that would tell you that if
he can't even give you a like any elaborate response
to a question you have, how is he going to
have a team of sixty one.

Speaker 4 (08:43):
Guys on the same page. It's just not gonna happen.

Speaker 2 (08:46):
It's not.

Speaker 3 (08:47):
And I know that it's is you know, getting fired
mid third year. Like I understand that you're a little
bit maybe fresh, you have a new quarterback and all
of that, but this seems like basic one oh one coaching,
you know, like, and that's I think what's hard to swallow.
And you know, one of those losses I mentioned was
a blocked field goal. Remember that's that's crazy.

Speaker 2 (09:06):
It's literally like the Bears. Is it bad luck?

Speaker 3 (09:09):
Is it bad luck or is it bad coaching in
these situations?

Speaker 5 (09:14):
At the end, there you go. They said the word.
Say that word again. Situation.

Speaker 2 (09:18):
Situational. Yes, you have.

Speaker 4 (09:21):
To have it.

Speaker 5 (09:21):
Doesn't matter how smart you are, doesn't matter how good
at motivating people you are. If you don't understand situational football,
you will not win because it's all about that. The
NFL is such a game where the inches, the little
moments matter. We see all the big ones, we celebrate
the big ones, but knowing how to block right on
an extra point our field goal, no one when to

(09:44):
like I said, not have even if you don't have
two plays ready, knowing that, okay, this is situation where
we may have to do a rush field goal situation right,
so even we catch the ball in bounds, we still
can run them out there and kick a field goal.
But it's preparation. You got to have your team ready
to do that.

Speaker 2 (09:59):
At any given to and especially yesterday, because it must
have been really.

Speaker 3 (10:02):
Frustrating if you were a Bears fan to come back
into the second half after not scoring anything and then
getting in a rhythm and Caleb Williams looking like, Okay,
he's whatever you guys said at halftime. It helped here
they are Now, did the Detroit Lions take their foot
off the gas, which we don't see them do very
often this season.

Speaker 2 (10:22):
They don't care if the score is forty two to three.

Speaker 3 (10:25):
They're gonna score if they can't with the linemen exactly like.

Speaker 2 (10:29):
It does not be situational football.

Speaker 3 (10:31):
They have all these various situations, they know how to execute,
and just so many different times this season we saw
the Bears not execute in moments that I thought were simple.

Speaker 2 (10:44):
Moments like I don't I'm not a I've never played.

Speaker 3 (10:46):
Football, Listen, I do wish that in mind here in
my day there was girls flag football because I won
one hundred. I did that with my sorority. I did
play flag football my sorty, but I wish I would
have done that because I think when you play a sport,
it helps you understand it a little bit better.

Speaker 2 (11:02):
One of the reasons I love basketball so much because I.

Speaker 3 (11:04):
Played it, you know, so I everything has been just
from the perspective of watching as a fan, never as
a player, obviously, but there are moments where I'm like
this seems like a very obvious choice, and it's disappointing
to see it not just once, not just twice, but
throughout the entire season.

Speaker 4 (11:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (11:19):
And if you're saying that not being a participant correct
to the NFL at all in your career, that yeah,
if that's not I that if you can say that,
then what the what are his players in administration and
GM and owners thinking like that's it's just it's very
simple math. You cannot get it done. Okay, we got
to let you go.

Speaker 2 (11:38):
Yeah, So why do you think they waited so long?

Speaker 5 (11:41):
Well, because they got a new roster this year, right,
so they wanted to see if he could actually coach
talent and give them a chance to win. I mean,
obviously that would be the normal response to seeing him,
because he hasn't been good first the first two But
now we got a revamped up roster, we got the
quarterback that you want, because I'm sure he hadn't he
hadn't picked him, and so yeah, we want to see
if he can win. And the answer is he cannot

(12:03):
win with that team, So we got to move not.

Speaker 2 (12:05):
With this team. Any early predictions on who may be
taking over.

Speaker 5 (12:10):
I mean I think everybody. The first one that everybody
throws out would be Ben Johnson. Right, So the saying
that he the guy that he just left, he's an
offensive guru. He goes into that offense with all those weapons.

Speaker 2 (12:19):
He might like, it makes sense, he might like that
would be bad?

Speaker 4 (12:22):
What about you?

Speaker 2 (12:23):
I mean, I really don't know.

Speaker 3 (12:25):
But I bring this up because Brandon, one of our editors, like,
came over after this happened. He's like, well, you know
there are rumors that Lincoln Riley's going to take that
job already.

Speaker 5 (12:33):
Lincoln right at night? Oh well, Caleb okay, Caleb okay.

Speaker 3 (12:36):
Right, Caleb will and so and the things. Things aren't
going that great in us see right now. So it's like,
you know, maybe maybe he does. I was like, wow,
we people are already predicting some crazy things out. The
thing with Ben Johnson is will he want to would
you want to leave the Lions?

Speaker 2 (12:51):
Which is the same thing that happened last year in
the off season, Right.

Speaker 4 (12:54):
He will? He will in the right situation.

Speaker 2 (12:56):
And you think this is the right situation.

Speaker 4 (12:58):
Yeah, I think he didn't.

Speaker 5 (12:58):
I think he didn't understand value of what the commanders
could have because that would have been a great spotform
as well. Yeah, but I do like the fit with
dan Quinn. I think that was actually a better one
for that team. But yeah, he's gonna I mean, you
don't coach to and you don't get to the to
the to the plateau that he's at right now as
a as a as a play call, as offensive coach
to not want to have your own team.

Speaker 3 (13:19):
And I am guessing if the Lions win, it'll be
an easier move also because it's like, if you win,
you have it in your pocket. You're like, I got it,
I got a super Bowl. Got now let me go
get my own in a different I'm just.

Speaker 4 (13:30):
Think about it. That would be a division rival though, to.

Speaker 2 (13:34):
Which would be very tough.

Speaker 3 (13:36):
But we like all that messy stuff, and there is
a lot of messy things going on in sports and
in the NFL that we are going to dive into.
On the other side of this, we have to talk
about the Colorado Buffalos, Carrie.

Speaker 2 (13:49):
They just played a game. I think they may be
finishing if they're not.

Speaker 3 (13:52):
Boise State also playing, So like high Heisman talk, we're
going to get into it.

Speaker 2 (13:57):
On the other side, this is Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 7 (14:00):
Be sure to catch the live edition of The Doug
Gottlieb Show weekdays at three pm Eastern noon Pacific on
Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 2 (14:10):
Oh hey, welcome back.

Speaker 3 (14:14):
It is Fox Sports Radio. You're tuning in to the
Doug Gottlieb Show. But Boom America, it's not him. I
am Monci Bolanos here with former All Pro safety Carrie Roads.
Thank you for hanging out with us on this Friday.
Maybe you're doing some shopping moving around in your car.
Thanks for turning us on. We're here to just have
some fun for the next couple of hours.

Speaker 2 (14:34):
Join us.

Speaker 3 (14:35):
We just finished talking about Matt Eberflus being fired following
that really terrible loss last.

Speaker 2 (14:39):
Night to the Lions.

Speaker 3 (14:41):
But we want to talk about a more positive thing
going on in sports right now.

Speaker 2 (14:46):
Bears, this is just a sad conversation to have. The
Heisman situation in college football is so exciting right now.

Speaker 3 (14:56):
We had two college games. In fact, Boise State and
Colorado are st playing. The Boise State is currently beating
Oregon State thirty four eighteen.

Speaker 2 (15:04):
They're really about to end, and it's been all Colorado
against Oklahoma State.

Speaker 3 (15:09):
Fifty two zero is a score on that one and
the Heisman race. Oof, did you know that Steve Hartman
has a Heisman vote?

Speaker 4 (15:19):
He told me no less than one hundred times.

Speaker 3 (15:21):
No less than a hundred times, but just in case
I wasn't sure if you heard God listeners, I don't
know if you know that. So we do have somebody
close to us that does get to vote, and I'm
just very excited that I don't have to.

Speaker 2 (15:30):
Vote because this is tough, tough one.

Speaker 3 (15:33):
This is a really hard one, and throughout the whole season,
you know, it's been back and forth right between Ashton
Gente and Travis Hunter.

Speaker 2 (15:42):
But now I'm just like, how is Shador Sanders.

Speaker 3 (15:45):
Not really considered because he just today Carrie broke Colorado's
single season all time passing record that had been there
for twenty eight years, by the way, he just.

Speaker 2 (15:58):
Broke it today. Okay, good for you.

Speaker 3 (16:01):
So there's so much really to dissect us to like
splitting hairs, right, what do you value more?

Speaker 2 (16:08):
Do you value Shoudre Sanders numbers?

Speaker 3 (16:11):
Do you value what Travis Hunter is doing on both
sides of the ball? Ashton Genty, who seems like a
refrigerator that you can't stop coming at you?

Speaker 2 (16:20):
How do you pick what you like most.

Speaker 4 (16:22):
Yeah, it's it's hard.

Speaker 5 (16:23):
This is a tough season you have, Like you just said,
I mean, he just should do or just broke the
single single single season passing record at his school, which
is a big deal. Colorado's having a really good season,
So you take that into consideration.

Speaker 4 (16:38):
I think it's great.

Speaker 5 (16:39):
I think the negative on him and why he probably
won't win it is just because of its affiliation with
his dad, to.

Speaker 2 (16:45):
Be honest, like they give him a doc on that.

Speaker 4 (16:47):
Yeah, I believe so.

Speaker 5 (16:48):
I just just just from the standpoint of there's been
so much talk about obviously Dion and what he's done
at the school. You know, his son obviously's really good,
but you know that affiliation I think is going to
be a a deal breaker for some voters just for
their own personal reasons.

Speaker 4 (17:03):
I hear you, Yes, Travis Hunter.

Speaker 5 (17:05):
I think obviously we see something that that's he's doing
right now which has really never been done. I mean,
we can a lot of athletes can play both ways,
and I don't want people to get so infatuated with that.
A lot of us can do that the way he's doing,
and that the amount of snaps he's doing is just ridiculous, right,
and so the numbers speaks for itself. But also you're

(17:26):
getting to see this crazy amount of reps of him
doing it both ways. He looks like the best player
in college football, right, And and then you go to Ashton, Sorry,
you go to Ashton, and it's like, it's hard for
a running back to be the winner in the year
like this when it's so much parody because there's games

(17:47):
I mean saying Boise State's decent, they're they're good, but
people don't really believe in them, in their product. But
you can't understan you can't understate what he's doing. He's
got over two thousand yards rushing now, So I don't know,
it'll be harp and me too. Who would where would
you go?

Speaker 2 (18:02):
I don't know as I think about it.

Speaker 3 (18:03):
How about we play one of the Buffalo's highlights for
today with Travis Hunter Dealer's choice over there, Fellas.

Speaker 4 (18:11):
Takes the stamp, takes the handoff, throws it like.

Speaker 6 (18:14):
Side pot pie, Travis hot a slack to the inside, touchdown, touchdown, Colorado,
eleven yard sound. He's got a pick, He's got a
touchdown that he's gonna have a heisman too, and I
to play in the opening corn It's Funny to Nothing Buffaloes.

Speaker 2 (18:33):
That is Mark Johnson from Learfield.

Speaker 3 (18:35):
I would love Mark Johnson to just be my hype man,
because every single time I hear this man, he excites me.

Speaker 2 (18:43):
You take the.

Speaker 3 (18:44):
Name outs, put a fake name in there, You're gonna
get excited just from listening to Mark Johnson. So that's
where I'm giving credit here, because honestly, you hear other people.
We're here all the time. We're here during Sunday Football
right red zone radio, and sometimes you hear some calls
and they're like, oh yeah in the end zone, Okay,
moving on, Yeah.

Speaker 5 (19:00):
They made it to the touchdown. Touchdown, Peyton man just
went way back.

Speaker 2 (19:04):
That's ok. So we're not judging anyone right now. I
know what you don't no, no no. And also we're not
judging anyone current. So that's perfect. Mark Johnson. I love you.

Speaker 3 (19:13):
I think you're so great. Every single time I hear
a call from you from the Buffalo Is, it's so great.
I wish you were my hype man. Let's get an
Ashton genty highlight hand off.

Speaker 8 (19:22):
Ashton jet Y. That's gonna be another Ashton Jetty touchdown.
It's gonna tie the school single season record. Jay and
Ji twenty eight rushing touchdowns, Ashton jet Y twenty eight
rushing touchdowns, seven yards, and it's thirteen to nothing Boise State.

Speaker 3 (19:39):
Bob Beller from Learfield, thank you for telling us that
he broke a record. I actually must have missed that
to date, because again, this is such a tight race
between the three, and I feel like what is gonna
be a little bit I like what you said, a
bit of voter fatigue.

Speaker 2 (19:55):
Let's say wish a door standers because of his dad.

Speaker 3 (19:57):
I totally agree with that that that could really have
happened with some of the voters. Another thing that I
think could go badly for Shador Sanders and Travis Hunter
is that they're gonna split votes between themselves for sure.
And then you have ashtin genty today thirty seven carries
two hundred and twenty seven.

Speaker 2 (20:14):
Yards and a touchdown.

Speaker 3 (20:16):
Yeah, like I would be how are how are you
walking after that?

Speaker 4 (20:21):
Years?

Speaker 2 (20:21):
Ah?

Speaker 5 (20:22):
Ah?

Speaker 2 (20:22):
Wells, yeah, yeah, you're right, You're right. That does help? Unreal.

Speaker 3 (20:27):
Is there any chance we see a co Heisman? When
I looked it up, and I don't think so. I mean,
we could call Steve Hartman. I'm sure you can tell
us the entire history of this. I don't think there's
been co Heisman winners in college. We've had two incidences
in the NFL where we've had co MVPs. So could
you see this being the year because of how crazy

(20:47):
it is?

Speaker 2 (20:48):
And it's again, what do you value more? But we
are splitting hairs here for the top player in college football.

Speaker 5 (20:55):
Yeah, its not a runaway at all, and by by
no stretch of the imagination. But the the Cole Heisman thing,
it could be a thing. I've never really even thought
of it that way. I usually see I mean, because
it's a lot of times it's so clear cut. It's
gonna be the team that's number one or number two
or number three or whatever, right, and you're gonna have
the best player off that team and you're gonna pick it.

(21:16):
It's gonna be pretty relatively easy, right right this one.
You know, like I said, Boise State's only got one loss,
so there's a better team, right in theory.

Speaker 4 (21:24):
In theory.

Speaker 3 (21:25):
In theory, some people argue that they're scheduled, but it's
like you you can only play who's in front of you,
Like you know what I mean exactly.

Speaker 5 (21:30):
So do we reward that? I don't know. I don't
know what they're gonna do, but I don't think. I mean,
these two guys have actively been campaigning for themselves too,
so we'll see.

Speaker 3 (21:40):
I honestly like I throughout the entire college football season, I.

Speaker 2 (21:45):
Have changed my mind, you know.

Speaker 3 (21:46):
I one day I'm like, oh, it's Travis Hunter, the
alien in college football.

Speaker 2 (21:50):
Oh but Shador Sanders like he helps him look like that.

Speaker 3 (21:54):
Travis Hunter, Yes, because he plays on both sides of
the ball, but like offensively, Shador Sanders is helping you
look like that. So that's something too hard to forget.
And then Ashton Genty, I'm just like, unreal, what you
are doing quite incredible. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
This is Gottleib Show, but he is not here. I
am Monsie Bilanos here with former All Pro safety Carry Roads,

(22:15):
and we are coming to you live from the tyreq
dot Com studios. But now we're gonna check in with
our boy Martin and see what's going on here from
Boys East.

Speaker 4 (22:25):
Can Martin here back there? Can you hear Martin?

Speaker 2 (22:26):
Can you hear us?

Speaker 9 (22:28):
I can hear you, But I just want to know
how many tackles is asked and JT have on the year.

Speaker 4 (22:35):
It depends has this quarterback thrown any interceptions?

Speaker 9 (22:39):
But is less than real Travis Hunter probably is like
five tackles today.

Speaker 3 (22:43):
Yeah, So to you, is it a clear Travis Hunter
is who you would vote for?

Speaker 4 (22:48):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (22:48):
You would?

Speaker 4 (22:49):
Yes?

Speaker 9 (22:50):
Why because he's the best player in college football?

Speaker 4 (22:54):
Why?

Speaker 9 (22:54):
Because he plays two positions?

Speaker 5 (22:57):
And that's why I keep getting to yes at a height. Okay,
last part. The high level is not that he's just
out there having fun. He's the best quarterback on the team.
He's the best wide receiver on the team, and he's
top five in both in the nation. He's the best
cornerback on their team. I don't think he's the best
cornerback in the country. So that's why he's top five
at both in the nation. So if you're telling me
he's top five in both at the nation, I got

(23:20):
b's in math my entire life. But that's got to
add up to that's got to add up to number one.

Speaker 4 (23:24):
Okay, now that's it.

Speaker 2 (23:25):
Yeah, and I wouldn't be mad at it, you know
what I'm saying.

Speaker 9 (23:28):
Yeah, Now, the conversations we could be having is it's
fifty two to nothing blowout against Oklahoma State, Oklahoma State
which was oh to nine in the Big Twelve. Coincidentally,
George Sanders threw a touchdown pass Travis Hunter. I think
to boost the score to one of these fourteen fourth
quarter points' Schador to track stat padding.

Speaker 2 (23:53):
I guess we are going to talk about.

Speaker 4 (23:55):
Touchdowns matter, no matter when they're scored.

Speaker 9 (23:56):
I suppose Chador thirty four for forty one, four to
thirty through the air, five touchdowns. Travis Hunter had three
receiving touchdowns and an interception. Oh, by the way, first
college football player to have three touchdowns for scrimmage and
an interception in the game in the last twenty five seasons.

Speaker 4 (24:12):
Heisman him all right, Heisman him?

Speaker 5 (24:16):
Speaking of the Heisman should be runner up.

Speaker 9 (24:18):
Ashton Jenz thirty seven carries to twenty six on the
ground and a rushing touchdown as Boise State took care
of Oregon State thirty four to thirty, four to eighteen
to score there Boise.

Speaker 4 (24:28):
State eleven and one.

Speaker 9 (24:30):
Right now, Chicago Bears fired Matt Eberflus. He leaves with
a fourteen to thirty two record as head coach. He
becomes the first organization's coach to be fired mid season.
Thomas Brown, who started this season as the passing game
coordinator then became the interim offensive coordinator, is now going
to be the interim head coach. I think that's like

(24:50):
accidentally becoming important at work. Right three, nothing to score
right now between the Kansasity Chiefs and the Vegas Raiders.
Second and fifteen with two forty five. Let's in the
first quarter of Kansas City with the ball trying to
drive down the field.

Speaker 4 (25:03):
Kansas City is on their third kickers so far this year.

Speaker 9 (25:06):
It's Harrison Bucker got hurt and then the second kicker
they had got hurt. So matthew Wright is now kicking.
He's the one with the field goal. Quick question for
you guys. You know where matthew Wright know his claim
to fame? No, he Urban Meyer's first win in the NFL.
Matthew Wright kicked the game winner. Really there, you go
back to.

Speaker 2 (25:25):
You, thank you the more you know?

Speaker 4 (25:27):
Oh, well, Snapple fax right, I look out of the cats.

Speaker 9 (25:32):
Right.

Speaker 2 (25:33):
Oh, I haven't had a Snapple in years.

Speaker 3 (25:35):
Ol.

Speaker 2 (25:36):
Do you drink snap?

Speaker 4 (25:37):
No?

Speaker 2 (25:37):
No, no, I don't either. It's a little sweet, it's much.

Speaker 3 (25:40):
It's it is much, but I do remember that you're
listening to Fox Sports Radio. It's a Doug Gottlieb show,
but it's me, Moncey Bolano's and former All Pro safety
carry Roads here with.

Speaker 2 (25:49):
You hanging out on this Black Friday. We hope you
are shopping. I wish I was. Have you done shopping?

Speaker 5 (25:54):
Listen Mancy, it's it's one of the worst things ever
to do. Wake up and stay outside and free He's
freezing line for big screen TV just sounds like torture.

Speaker 7 (26:04):
You know.

Speaker 2 (26:04):
I maybe maybe we'll have time, maybe we won't.

Speaker 5 (26:07):
We'll try.

Speaker 2 (26:07):
I'll tell you about my stories.

Speaker 3 (26:08):
I don't do that anymore, but I may have been
that person you are in line at one point in life.

Speaker 2 (26:13):
Stick around and maybe I'll tell you more about it.
Let's let's talk a little NBA Carrie. If you guys
listening out there don't know, Carrie and I absolutely love
the NBA.

Speaker 3 (26:23):
Yes, but we are having a hard time with the
NBA for so many reasons, and you know most of them.
I mean literally, the All Star Game is a joke,
the regular season seems to be a joke, and you
never know when you're gonna see your favorite players.

Speaker 2 (26:39):
On Monday, I came in to work and.

Speaker 3 (26:41):
I was updating the masses, and I'm like, oh jah
Morant back after missing eight games. He had a great game,
had a crazy dunk, flew the whole thing. Next day,
Ja Moran is out with any injury. I'm sorry, squeeze, Like,
how can you gain new fans in a sport where
I don't know when I'm gonna.

Speaker 2 (27:01):
Watch the stars?

Speaker 4 (27:02):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (27:03):
How Luka Duncic Maybe he's traveling with the team. Did
you see with the team? So yes, Carrie is a
MAVs fan. I am a Clippers fan. So yes.

Speaker 3 (27:12):
We had the playoffs last year and we did a
show together and talked about it day one. We'll talk
about that another day. How how are when you watch
your maps without Luca?

Speaker 2 (27:21):
Like, what do you feel? Like? How hard is it
for you?

Speaker 5 (27:23):
Well, for me, it's not as hard because Kyrie is
my is my my Batman and he can be Superman
any day, So watching him play it's been fine.

Speaker 4 (27:33):
So and we talked about it off air before the
show started.

Speaker 5 (27:36):
Right I The only team that I can watch right
now because the product is relatively bad, Yes, is Dallas
because I have real investment in them, right, So I'm
trying to see the new acquisitions. So that's one one
way I stay locked in on it. But league league wide,
I'm not running home to watch any game. And I
used to be that guy. So it's I I agree

(27:57):
with you, it's it's it's been pretty bad right now, and.

Speaker 3 (28:00):
We're fans like, you're not NBA, you don't have to
do much, Carrie and I will tune in like we're
already there.

Speaker 5 (28:05):
You know.

Speaker 3 (28:05):
It's like, oh, Zachary Rezasche, I want to see what
he looks like.

Speaker 2 (28:09):
Ye, but a new fan, how do you keep them interested?

Speaker 3 (28:14):
That's my struggle here because yeah, we talk about baseball
being boring, right, one hundred and sixty two games, but
you know how many games Aaron Judge is gonna play?

Speaker 2 (28:20):
One hundred and sixty two.

Speaker 3 (28:22):
Like, it's just that's the big difference here when it
comes to like when people are saying, oh, shorten the season,
I don't know if that's gonna change anything. The fact
is that right now players are trying to protect their body.

Speaker 2 (28:34):
And I get that to one extent because but it's
a double edged sword.

Speaker 3 (28:38):
The athleticism that we are seeing across all sports is
absolutely insane. Yes, but at the same time, the body
cannot handle that.

Speaker 5 (28:46):
Right.

Speaker 2 (28:47):
We are literally seeing it before eyes.

Speaker 3 (28:48):
Jah Moran, I'm telling you, guys, came back at a
great game next day.

Speaker 2 (28:51):
Oh he's out with any injury. I can not. And
I use drama because I really do like Jamra. I
would love watching him play.

Speaker 3 (28:57):
So I will tune into Grizzlies games along with Michaels,
who are not doing too shabby, thank you so much.

Speaker 2 (29:02):
Are for asking, and they are they are, and it's
it's I watch them.

Speaker 3 (29:07):
But I'll watch a game like the Celtics. Celtics are great, yep.
But if the Celtics are shooting seventy five threes and
and they're hot, right because they're great shooters, not one,
not two, four of them might be shooting the lights
out of the three point line. All I'm seeing is
threes being shot back and forth, back and forth, because
the team that is losing to the Celtics is thinking,

(29:29):
I gotta catch up, and I'm not going to catch
up by dunking the ball. I have to hit the
threes too, And so there's three minutes where I'm just
seeing back and forth of people shooting threes and half
the time missing them, or it's just the Celtics.

Speaker 2 (29:41):
Making them, and that's not fun.

Speaker 3 (29:43):
Like, yes, Curry shooting from the logo very fun, of course,
we love that. I love you know, I'm all about
Curry and his shots. But the game itself is not
meant to just be threes back and forth.

Speaker 2 (29:56):
I'm bored. I am bored. I I am wondering.

Speaker 3 (30:02):
Just like fashion, Carrie Yea, fashion trends, they come back. Yes,
you know our parents told us, Oh I wore that
when I was your age.

Speaker 4 (30:08):
Don't thought those things away with the bail bottom.

Speaker 2 (30:10):
See, they're coming back right now as we speak.

Speaker 4 (30:13):
Exactly.

Speaker 3 (30:14):
Do you think the NBA will come back just like
a fashion trend where we will go back to fundamentals,
to boxing out, to getting in the post?

Speaker 2 (30:24):
Yeah, do you think we're gonna go back to that?

Speaker 5 (30:26):
You know? The crazy part about that is, I don't know.
I do know that it'll take it'll take a very
brash team to be able to buck the trend, right,
like it took the brass trend of the Splash Brothers
to you know, bring this type of game to the NBA, right,
And it was a while, like It wasn't something that

(30:47):
happened overnight.

Speaker 4 (30:48):
They played that way.

Speaker 5 (30:49):
They weren't really good at it, but they stuck to it,
and you know, the ceiling broke and they started to
be the warriors that we know. Will it change? I mean,
Number one, the players have to continue to progress and
play games right. We talk about the athleticism that they
have if you're not fully developed in the post. And

(31:09):
I think also the biggest problem with the NBA is
like the other leagues as well, trying to shorten the preseason.
So you're trying to get to these meaningful games quicker
to avoid injury, but you have to go through the
process of the attrition that your body has to go
through to get you ready for a long season. They're
not getting that, and so you're trying to have the

(31:30):
players and these these 's the outside think the developmental players,
leagues and associations to protect the players. You have to
know that if they're not getting their bodies right through
the attrition, they're not going to be healthy through in
the season. So that's the number one thing, more than
actually trying to bucket and get back to something. They
got to be healthy to even get to that point.

Speaker 2 (31:52):
I haven't read this.

Speaker 3 (31:53):
I'm guessing here based on the way basketball looks. Doesn't
it look like these players are focusing on agility and
speed versus like strength. Like I'm wondering if like weight
training has taken a side step and it's more of
like being fast, because yeah, you see it, and the
fast paced teams like okay, see oh, they're all moving

(32:14):
real quick in the blink of and either down on
the other side of the court and young, and they're
all young. But it's like, do you think that that
could be a thing where just weight lifting and weight
training has taken a side step with the NBA.

Speaker 5 (32:28):
I don't think it's taking a side step, but I
think there's been more emphasis on specific game drills. So
you'll see all the videos on YouTube or Twitter said
player working out right, what are they doing? All keep stuff,
all the euro steps, all the one two layups with
the one leg off the wrong leg, like they're doing

(32:48):
stuff that they're being taught by these gurus and trainers.

Speaker 2 (32:53):
Mm hmm.

Speaker 5 (32:53):
That doesn't matter. It's pretty. It's an element to your game.
But the physicality, once you get to the playoffs, it's
physical even in this NBA, and so you have to
still be.

Speaker 4 (33:05):
Ready for that.

Speaker 2 (33:06):
I miss physicality.

Speaker 4 (33:07):
Yeah, you gotta have it, you have to.

Speaker 3 (33:09):
Have it, but it hardly ever do we see it.
And then you do see it and it's like, oh,
there they go down. They're injured now because they weren't
used to this.

Speaker 2 (33:16):
I can not.

Speaker 3 (33:18):
Shortly after the show, though, our podcast is going to
be going up. If you miss any of today's show,
be sure to check it out. Just search Fox Sports
Radio wherever you get your podcasts, or you can follow

Speaker 2 (33:28):
We'll retweet it. Be sure to follow rate review the podcast. Again.

Speaker 3 (33:31):
Just search Fox Sports Radio wherever you get your podcasts,
and you'll see the show posted right after we get
off the air.

Speaker 2 (33:38):
NBA WNBA.

Speaker 3 (33:40):
On the other side, we're going to talk about the
new unrivaled league that to me is already off to
a not so great start.

Speaker 2 (33:48):
We'll be right back here on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 7 (33:50):
Be sure to catch the live edition of The Doug
Gottlieb Show weekdays at three pm Eastern noon Pacific.

Speaker 2 (33:57):
It is the holidays. No no, no, I'm with you,
but it is the holidays.

Speaker 3 (34:01):
Welcome everybody, it is Fox Sports Radio. You are listening
to the Doug Gottlieb Show, but he is not here.
I'm here Monte Bolanyas alongside former All Pro safety Carrie Rhodes.

Speaker 2 (34:12):
Thanks for hanging out with us on this Black Friday.

Speaker 3 (34:14):
We hope you're doing some shopping, grabbing a nice bite
to eat as you hang out with us on this day.

Speaker 2 (34:19):
We'll be here for four hours. By the way, how
long are you leaving here?

Speaker 5 (34:25):
Cool?

Speaker 2 (34:25):
Are you leaving me?

Speaker 5 (34:27):
Listen? I'll talk, I'll talk.

Speaker 3 (34:28):
Don't worries, and then I'll pretend to be you and
say I think Carrie would say this.

Speaker 5 (34:32):
At this you got to take it down a little,
just a little bit, so listen, carry roads.

Speaker 2 (34:39):
What do you make of on rivaled?

Speaker 3 (34:42):
The new w NBA league or side league, however you
want to look at it? Started by Browna, Stuarda and
Fisa Colier, who really want this to be a way
for w NBA players to not have to go overseas
and play.

Speaker 2 (34:55):
Gives them a chance to make money.

Speaker 3 (34:56):
They're making the most money six figures, apparently, every single
one of them. Now some of them reportedly were offered
seven figures but turned it down.

Speaker 2 (35:04):
Who am I speaking?

Speaker 3 (35:05):
Obviously, Caitlin Clark Asia Wilson, star of the Las Vegas Aces,
Brianna Stewart. I don't know what she was offered. I
would assume also a high number star of the Liberty.
They are not part of this, but last week they
released pretty much the teams and the players with a
couple of open spots. And then about twenty four hours ago,
forty eight hours ago, Kelsey Plum, one of the stars

(35:27):
I think of the WNBA, decided to withdraw from this league,
saying that she just needs just gonna focus on herself
during this offseason.

Speaker 2 (35:37):
I totally get that, and I know.

Speaker 3 (35:39):
She's going through a divorce. She was married to Darren Waller,
NFL player.

Speaker 2 (35:43):
I get all of that. But the minute I saw
this news, I was like, well, that's not good. For
many reasons.

Speaker 3 (35:50):
You want your stars to be a part of this,
and Kelsey Plump may not be a top three star,
but she is a face.

Speaker 2 (35:55):
Of the WNBA for sure. Whether it's you knew her
husband us, or you saw that gift, that meme, that video.

Speaker 3 (36:02):
Of her eating popcorn on the sideline, whatever what you
knew who she was, it's important for the inaugural season
of Unrivaled, and I just don't think it's the best
way to start things off with a player like that
to withdraw.

Speaker 4 (36:16):
Yeah, no, I agree with you.

Speaker 5 (36:18):
I think Kelsey Plumb is one of the faces of
the w n b A and she's one of those
one of those women that has all the intangibles as well.
She has a swag, she she's a good looking, good
looking woman as well, and super talented, so all the
things that you want to be associated to a league
like this that's you know, about to kick off and

(36:38):
hopefully has some legs, and so you want that person
to participate. But she's human, and I'm sure what you
just said, if the you know, if that is where
the story is leaning, leaning towards her being you know,
happen to have some time for herself and going through
the process of grief, and you gotta give her, you
gotta give her that that that space.

Speaker 4 (36:57):
To do that.

Speaker 3 (36:57):
And you know, I really do. I love Kelsey Plum.
I am a fan and we didn't even you know,
hit her college career because she also had a great
college career. So she really is a well known name
in the WNBA scene. And I just unfortunately it's hard
for me to not sit here and be like, well,
you should have never joined in the first place. Sure,
because then this wouldn't be the effect because like, yeah,

(37:20):
I'm gonna say that it's probably life.

Speaker 2 (37:22):
And she just needs some time.

Speaker 4 (37:24):
Yeah, but what is it?

Speaker 3 (37:26):
What if she found out that maybe it's not going
to be as successful as they thought.

Speaker 2 (37:30):
That's also another you know, how do you not think that, Yeah, well,
Caitlin Clark's not in it. Ajia Wilson's not in it.

Speaker 3 (37:34):
No, Sabrina Unescu, maybe it's not going to be as
good as we thought. Even though they have all of
the support from former sports athletes to actors. They have
a lot of support, but it's like, what if it's
not successful? And I just think it sets like a
bad look. It was almost like, don't announce that, And
then later once it starts to be like, oh, actually,
Kelsey Plum's not in it, but to make the announcement,

(37:56):
it makes us talk about it.

Speaker 5 (37:58):
Yes, it's so, yeah, it's yes. They were not going
to take that approach because they needed the buzz early
so with the new product, so yes, it would have
been cool to unveil it that way, and it's like
almost a surprise. But at this point with all those
investors in, they needed to know who was going to
be a part of it obviously, because yea, just for

(38:20):
revenue purposes, we need to know that, you know, as
much as we love you guys, and we want to
invest in, and we need to know what the return
is going to be. And that's just business, right, So
they had to attach all the names, and her name
was one of those ones that were definitely going to
be tossed.

Speaker 2 (38:33):
Out there, and you're right, maybe that's what it is.
I just it already. I saw that, and I was like,
I just I don't like this already.

Speaker 3 (38:41):
Yeah, I'm definitely still going to tune in because I
want to see all these other starts. Three on three also,
like seems like something different, just something different we haven't
seen in a long time three on three basketball.

Speaker 2 (38:51):
To this scale. So it's not necessarily turning me off,
but it is making.

Speaker 3 (38:55):
Me wonder the real reasons sure why she stepped away,
even if it's just maybe it is home that she
wants to be at home and focus on herself.

Speaker 2 (39:02):
But it's also a short three months.
