Speaker 3 (00:27):
A very very very very very very happy Fourth of July. Monzy.
Fireworks in the afternoon.

Speaker 4 (00:33):
Fireworks in the afternoon. I mean, you can't even see them,
but you can't hang out with us.

Speaker 5 (00:37):
I was just.

Speaker 4 (00:38):
Complaining to you about how much I don't care about
Fourth of July.

Speaker 5 (00:42):
But I will say I forget that.

Speaker 4 (00:44):
We have baseball literally all day, and that's probably the
best part of Fourth of July.

Speaker 3 (00:48):
Don't let your mom hear that, by the way, she
may freak out. Manzy loves the Fourth of July. Mom,
blondy House.

Speaker 5 (00:54):
No, I don't. I'm over it. I'm over the fireworks.

Speaker 4 (00:57):
I'm over It's like, maybe maybe you are you gonna
do far works later?

Speaker 5 (01:00):
Can you in your city do fireworks later?

Speaker 3 (01:02):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (01:03):
Well, are you going to illegally doing fireworks?

Speaker 7 (01:06):
Okay?

Speaker 3 (01:07):
No, No, I will not be. I will not be
no matter what Manzi's drop says, that will not be happening.

Speaker 6 (01:14):
Hold on it on, it does.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
Hold on. There is more of a push because of
what happened in southern California earlier this year with the wildfires,
and one of the fires thought maybe it was lit
by a firework. So I've noticed more and more like
public service announcements, people being active to say like, let's
look out for this. I think we've even seen some

(01:36):
activity of fireworks stuff being busted. But I will say this,
I like a fireworks show. I even said earlier this week.
I have I got out of my I'm too cool
for school stage in my teens and my twenties, where
I'm like, who cares about fireworks? Sure, now that I've
got a young one, I see his excitement over it,
so it brings it out to me. But the fourth

(01:58):
is what's happening right now, that's truly like ultimately, for
as great as the fireworks are, and sometimes gosh doesn't
get dark to like nine to thirty, you know, in
certain places you get of the fireworks coming, the party
is right now. It's the afternoon, it's the cookout, it's
the swimming, it's the corn hole, it's all of that cot. Yes, yes,

(02:18):
it's sitting in a radio studio with no windows facing outside.
That's what the Fourth of July is. No, but that's
people who are driving right now to a place on
the fourth of July, right and they're not counting down
the hours eight more hours and no fireworks. They're saying,
I can't wait to get there to grab a dog
or a burger, or just to grab a brew, sit
down and enjoy the afternoon. That's what That's what the

(02:40):
celebration portion of the Fourth of July is about.

Speaker 4 (02:42):
You know what, You're right, You're right because the fireworks
is a small portion of it. And I guess my
thing is, I've seen great fireworks, and it's never the
ones that people are putting down in front of the house.

Speaker 6 (02:52):
Great fireworks because even a Disneyland all the.

Speaker 4 (02:54):
Time, But the ones that you buy and you do
in your house or like you know, even they're not
as great.

Speaker 5 (02:59):
So I'm just not in us.

Speaker 4 (03:00):
And what really annoys me is when it's going to
be four am and those fireworks are still going.

Speaker 5 (03:06):
That's what.

Speaker 3 (03:06):
Yes, those are the worst.

Speaker 5 (03:08):
Those are those but you're right.

Speaker 4 (03:10):
The day, it's a whole day of celebrating with a
bunch of fun surrounding what ends up being fireworks in
the evening.

Speaker 3 (03:17):
I do, you're right, I do love myself some Four
Seasons sparking off in the driveway in the street and
the cul de sac. Four Seasons is the one that, well,
they all go, but it goes, but it goes. It's
the first season is like.

Speaker 4 (03:33):
Yes, green, yes, yes, and it's a color yeah yeah.

Speaker 3 (03:36):
Yeah yeah, and then it goes to like maybe an
orange because of summer in the sun, and then it
goes and I just bit my tongue red for auburn
for autumn, and then white for winter and that's and
then it's then it's.

Speaker 4 (03:49):
Done that I know exactly which one you're talking about.
I haven't seen that in a while, because yes, those
are the ones that you buy.

Speaker 6 (03:55):
You can do on your street, on the sidewalk and
all that.

Speaker 4 (03:58):
I also like the the sticks though, you just slide
it up, but it lasts like seven seconds.

Speaker 6 (04:04):
The sticks, it's like a stick and sparkler, a sparkler.

Speaker 5 (04:06):
There we go.

Speaker 6 (04:07):
That was like the stick. The stick, This is a stick.

Speaker 3 (04:10):
It's a stick.

Speaker 4 (04:10):
You guys, the sparkler, but it lasts likes seven seconds.
And I used to write on the sidewalk with my
like my name with the sparklers.

Speaker 3 (04:18):
Yes, right, yeah, yeah, yeah, So you do like fireworks
back in.

Speaker 4 (04:21):
The day, back in the day when I was young.

Speaker 5 (04:24):
I'm not a kid anymore, a.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
Little bit, a little bit longer because the sparkler does.
The great thing about sparklers were like the slight burns
you were getting from the sparks off of it that
you know what I'm talking about, Sam, Like, there's this
It would sting a little bit, Yes, it would. It
felt like a bunch of baby bees was staining your
wrist and forearm. But yet you had fire in your hand,

(04:45):
and that was exciting. Here we are celebrating the fourth
of July. Hot dogs were eaten today. We'll get into that,
and Lebron James has been tweeting. We are now officially on.
By the way, Monty and I are here for the
next four hours, as is I Low and Kron Bo
Benson and Iowa Sam. We are all hanging out. We
are it's a special time, the special time of year

(05:10):
because Lebron James is decided to be very very active
on social media today for whatever reason, and we'll dive
more into it, but we are now officially on the.

Speaker 7 (05:22):
Watch twenty twenty five. I'm watched twenty twenty five.

Speaker 3 (05:25):
Watch twenty twenty five most recently. By the way, that
phrase coined by Bo Benson, our executive producer, want to
give you credit is very very high pitched low Watch
twenty twenty five. Let's hear it again.

Speaker 7 (05:39):
The Watch twenty twenty five. I watched twenty twenty five.

Speaker 3 (05:42):
Lebron James was working out Eddie Cavs practice facility today,
according to reports out of Cleveland, or at least hanging out.
He was also seen golfing earlier today. That is your
latest Lebron James update.

Speaker 7 (05:55):
The Watch twenty twenty five. I'm watched twenty twenty five.

Speaker 5 (05:58):
This is so good.

Speaker 4 (06:00):
Never cared as much as I care right now about
what Lebron is doing, just so I can Watch twenty
twenty five.

Speaker 3 (06:05):
We do have an update. Let's get the update. Iowa
Sam for the Watch.

Speaker 7 (06:09):
Twenty twenty five, not Watch twenty twenty five.

Speaker 3 (06:11):
Lebron James is just tweeted every summer since it was built.
He's been in Cleveland. I live here and still train
every summer. Y'all are bored, Go get a plate of
food somewhere and enjoy the fourth of July. I'll be
listening to Monty and Dan on Fox Sports Radio that
from Lebron James.

Speaker 7 (06:30):
Watch twenty twenty five, not Watch.

Speaker 3 (06:32):
Twenty twenty may have lied about the last part, but
up until the fourth of July. He says, get a
plate of food somewhere and enjoy the fourth So Lebron says,
no story here.

Speaker 6 (06:40):
Okay, Lebron, please, you are the story.

Speaker 4 (06:42):
Let's go and we'll dive into that because I do
think we are kind of waiting to see what happens
with Lebron in his future.

Speaker 6 (06:50):
We know he opted in, but that doesn't mean anything.
That doesn't mean fact what that you know what I'm saying,
So I'm looking forward to it.

Speaker 3 (06:56):
He also did something on social media today that I
don't know what the lover hate, but I will say this,
Lebron is not stupid, and Lebron understands that where his
path to an NBA finals would be, and that is
through the Eastern Conference. Yes, right like right now, like
if you're looking at it. Sure, I don't remember the
twenty twenty two picture from Cleveland of the fourth of July.

(07:18):
I'd like to go back in Lebron's social and check
this all out, since he says he's been there every
year and that's where he trains in the offseason. I
don't necessarily believe all of that, But if you were
to try to get back to the NBA Finals, going
to the Eastern Conference, wherever you go, truly, wherever you
go in the Eastern Conference is probably a better option
than staying with the Lakers and trying to navigate what

(07:40):
is the Western Conference in that gauntlet? Monzi, it is
a time. This was a conversation that was brought up
decades ago. But when you see how difficult the West
is right now. And by the way, here's the scary thing,
the future of the NBA. I'm telling you the future
of the NBA right now. Manzi is in the Western Conference.

(08:04):
Cooper flaggs now in Dallas first overall pick. We expect
Victor webbin Yama to be an absolute star and maybe
the face of the league at some point. He's in
the Western Conference. Anthony Edwards does want to be the
face of the league, but he's darn good he's in
the Western Conference. Shake Gildess, Alexander's now getting seventy one
million dollars a year to play basketball in the Western Conference.

(08:24):
And I could go on and on. We could talk
about the Rockets and Kevin Durant, we could talk about
your Clippers and Kawhi Leonard. It goes on and on
and on and on, and it is now time for
Adam Silver in the NBA to say, we kind of
got to do away with these conferences. This has gone
on for way too long of having the West be
as good as it is. I mean usually against this.

(08:46):
They tried it in college football. It didn't work for
the Big Ten. It actually failed miserably for the Big
Ten when they tried to set up we want these
teams here in this team in that conference because we
feel it's going to be even. I don't know how
you would set up these divisions, but right now East
and West is not a fair fight. It's not interesting basketball.
And I think Adam Silver and the NBA need to

(09:07):
revisit doing away with conferences for how loaded the West
is right now.

Speaker 4 (09:11):
You know, sports talk is usually a discussion because people
don't agree. Everyone would agree with this statement. That the
East is wide open and that all of the competition
is on the Western Conference. Going into the playoffs for
this year, nobody wanted to play who could end up
as a player in the West, whether it was going
to be the Clippers, whether it was going to be

(09:33):
I think Denver was in it, Warriors. Nobody wanted to
play whoever was going to win the play in tournament.

Speaker 6 (09:39):
When it came to the East, the Celtics, they weren't
worried about that. The Calves weren't worried about that.

Speaker 4 (09:42):
They're like, who's going to be Miami? We don't care, Chicago,
It doesn't matter. There is very little competition out of
the Eastern Conference.

Speaker 6 (09:50):
And if you're not going to do this now, then
when this is the perfect opportunity to do it.

Speaker 4 (09:56):
I don't think people would fight or be upse said
about it.

Speaker 5 (10:00):
It's the perfect time to do it.

Speaker 4 (10:02):
It's right in front of your faces as to why
you should do this, you.

Speaker 3 (10:06):
Said it in a very kind way. I'll just say it.
The East sucks right now. It does, and it has
for a while, and it's gotten worse. It wasn't like
when the Raptors won it in twenty nineteen, or when
the Bucks won it in twenty twenty one, or when
the Celtics won it last year, that the East was
this juggernaut. Those teams rose to the occasion and came through.

(10:27):
But I even go to the late teens where Lebron
and the Cavs had their runs to the NBA Finals
in twenty fifteen to twenty sixteen. Then Durant joins the
Warriors and they're still facing If you remember prior to
Kevin Durant joining the Warriors, we remember he was in
Oklahoma City. The Warriors got tested at that point. The
Warriors got tested with the Houston Rockets and almost were

(10:49):
eliminated in the Western Conference Final. There wasn't that resistance
towards the Cavaliers at that point. This conversation has been
going on, I think since the early two thos when
the Lakers had their three peet and you've had Eastern
Conference teams win NBA titles, but that doesn't necessarily reflect
that the Eastern Conference as a whole was better. I

(11:12):
don't know how you, as an NBA or an NBA
commissioner can look at this and look at the Western
Conference right now and say we have four teams that
probably are just going to continue to stink Portland, Phoenix,
New Orleans, and Utah. So we have eleven teams right
now for ten spots, so they're already locked into their spots,
so it's not as much drama. There's just jockeying for position.

(11:34):
In the East, you don't think anybody is good, so
you're not really paying attention and bad could be completely
bad in the East, but you're going to have a
team that's not even makes the play in tournament in
the West that could be what a five seeds fourth
seed in the East. Something needs to be done with this.

Speaker 4 (11:52):
And the big thing with the NBA, including the Alster game,
it's like the competition, right, It's like we're we want
to see a competitive game went through and this would only.

Speaker 6 (12:01):
Add to that.

Speaker 4 (12:02):
The first couple of rounds in the Eastern Conference were
you know, a little bit boring. Like at the start
of the season, like you said, everybody was like, it's
the Celtics Championship for the East to lose because nobody
else was the real contender.

Speaker 5 (12:14):
When it came to the West, there were who could
it be? Could it be the Lakers, Could it be
the Clippers. Could it be okay see?

Speaker 4 (12:19):
Okay see started to become the topic of conversation once
we got deeper into the season.

Speaker 6 (12:24):
But for the East, it was like, oh, it's the Celtics.

Speaker 4 (12:26):
Like there wasn't even really much to discuss because we
didn't see a real threat coming out of the East. Obviously,
the Knicks were super fun during the playoffs and everybody
enjoyed that run. But if you don't, if you don't
take advantage of it, now, it just seems like when
you do decide to do it, it's gonna be like, well,
why did you wait so long? Or you're gonna do

(12:46):
it at a time that doesn't seem appropriate.

Speaker 6 (12:47):
We're right now. The stars are aligning. The stars are
aligning for you to do this.

Speaker 3 (12:52):
And geographically, when we think of the West previously in
the old NBA, even wait before you were born, Monci,
it was you thought of the West truly as the West. Sure,
Denver had a team, but there was no Oklahoma City,
there was no Minnesota at that time. There was no Memphis,
there was no New Orleans. Those teams are all Central

(13:14):
time zone teams. He had the Texas teams here, the
Spurs Mavericks and Rockets as well, but this year where
the Pacers played the Thunder, it was East versus West
on labels, but mileage wise, Oklahoma City was just as
close as to Indianapolis as New York City was where
the Pacers were playing the Eastern Conference finals, So travel

(13:35):
isn't that big of an issue anymore. You were worried
about going from one end of the country to the
other and maybe having to do it. Lake or Celtics
obviously would be one. When you have it at the finals,
you can do it, but maybe it's not something you
would want to do in the second round, depending on
where NBA expansion takes us, and Seattle and Las Vegas
are the two names that are brought up the most.

(13:57):
I still think that you have the ability, because of
all of those teams in the central time zone, to
be able to massage this and make this in a
way where it isn't just East versus West. I don't
know why the West is dominant. I have no idea.
I don't know if they just have better ownership, more
proactive front offices. I don't know why, but it's gone

(14:18):
on long enough that this is not good for the
MP Yeah, it's neat to see Kevin Durant play for
the Rockets. But the only reason that we care Kevin
Durant's going to play for the Rockets is what happens
in April, May and June. So, when we're talking about
players playing in the NBA, when you're gonna have it
so lopsided, when we don't think the players even care
at that point, you're giving us less of a reason

(14:41):
to care because of how one sided and how heavily
slanted the competition is from one side to the other.
The East is just going to be an afterthought the
entire season in the NBA.

Speaker 5 (14:51):
You just said it.

Speaker 4 (14:52):
They have been an afterthought though as long as I
can remember, the West has always been dominanting.

Speaker 6 (14:57):
This has been for years and years.

Speaker 4 (14:58):
They've been an afterthought, and especially especially after Lebron James
left and came to the Lakers, then there East was
really another afterthought. It just seems like this might boost
the ratings, the interest, It might make people pay attention
once again to the regular season more than just like
those real deep basketball fans, I enjoy the ABA. It's

(15:19):
my favorite sport, but I do it's hard to defend
it it's hard to defend the product, and.

Speaker 6 (15:26):
This would help me defend it a little bit more.

Speaker 3 (15:29):
It's hard to defend the regular season.

Speaker 6 (15:31):
It's hard to defend the regular season.

Speaker 3 (15:33):
And now if you have a playoff where on every
other night you only care about the conference finals, it's
going to be it's the same thing. Yeah, I get it.
I'll say this, this is awful. We live. We live
on the West Coast. I'm a Bucks fan. Seven o'clock Eastern,
four o'clock Pacific tip offs for the NBA playoffs. I'm

(15:54):
kind of like, all right, I gotta wait till six thirty, yeah,
or I gotta wait till the Western Conference game. That's
what it was. The Bucks weren't they only played five
games against the Pacers. But in looking at the playoffs,
I had to make sure everything was all right. So
I got everything set up. Maybe I don't catch all
of the Celtics magic, but I got to make sure
to tune in the Timberwolves Lakers, Like that's the one

(16:15):
and the same thing with Rockets and Warriors and all
of those other series. And Clippers Nuggets were a great series.
But that's what I'm setting my night up on and
I'm If you live on the East Coast, you're like, crap.
I gotta stay up because I got to watch the
games that actually matter.

Speaker 4 (16:29):
I didn't even think of that, something that US Californians
won't ever think about.

Speaker 6 (16:32):
No, I like, really, it's like, oh right, it is
ten thirty high.

Speaker 3 (16:37):
The only awful payback for me is golf living on
the West Coast when the Open Championship is on, because
you can wake up at six am on the East
Coast and watch all morning long with here at three am.
A little too early, but that's a couple of weeks away.
We'll worry about.

Speaker 2 (16:50):
Then.

Speaker 3 (16:50):
She's Moncey Bologno. So I'm Dan Byer. It is the

So some people may be out on the lake today.
Maybe they're out on the raft on a river. Maybe
they're just ad a cookout or about to take in
a movie. That's what our next guest is about to do,
joining us now an hour away from showtime. The one
and only you know the music? Oh, we don't have them.

Speaker 5 (19:17):
We're almost there.

Speaker 3 (19:18):
You know what. Let's go to Lebron Watch twenty twenty five.

Speaker 7 (19:24):
We've not watched twenty twenty five, not watched twenty twenty five.

Speaker 3 (19:28):
Nothing has happened with Lebron James since we last spoke
with you, but we can give you an update for this.
We do not have Mark Medina on NBA Insider. Here
on Fox Sports Radio, Mark Medina is about to enter
the movie theater. Is that right? What movie were we
watching on this fourth of July? Mark Medina?

Speaker 9 (19:45):
Damn byer Terassic Park? Of course, you know what. They
have as much longevity as Lebron James and as much relevant.
But I don't think that they're leaving any breadcrumbs as
far as Instagram stories go.

Speaker 3 (19:58):
I am not a movie buff Manzi much more in
tune to this, as would Iowa, Sam and Bo Benson.
But my son loves dinosaurs and he loves Mosasaurus, and
I think Mosasaurus plays a big role in this one
right because I'm seeing it everywhere. I haven't seen it yet,
but that's my understanding. We're in for a good show,

(20:19):
all right, are you in for the show of Excuse me,
I'm going to let the imaging handle this, Mark Medina. Okay,
so we've already got to watch twenty twenty five coined
by Bo Benson. But there's been a lot of social
media activity today with Lebron and Cleveland. Much to read
into Are we reading too much into this? What do

(20:40):
you take with Lebron's accent so far?

Speaker 9 (20:43):
No, it's a relevant story because Lebron James himself abde
it a story. I mean, he knows how much attention
it gets that he's in Cleveland. He's validating someone wearing
his number twenty three Cavs Jersey. Now, what ultimately happens
from now until you know there's a resolution. I don't
think anything happens. I don't think that he's going to

(21:03):
leave the Lakers. I think he's going to retire a Laker.
I think that there's a lot of pragmatic things that
get in the way. If Lebron James is going to
get traded, it's likely have to be through a buyout,
because even though he's playing at all, star caliber level.
I don't think any team is going to be willing
to gut their roster to get him for his twenty
third NBA season at forty one years old and number two.

(21:25):
I don't think the Lakers are in that kind of business.
I mean, even from a basketball standpoint, they don't think
that they would get any value in return. From a
business standpoint, they love when you know, Luminari superstars retire
with a Lakers uniform. And I know talking to gdi
Bus a few years ago, she said it would meet
a lot if she if he retired as a Laker.

(21:46):
So I think all this is Lebron's trying to exert
whatever remaining influence he has. The Lakers will let him
do that. But they now have the cards in their hands,
and they're just going to assemble their roster accordingly and
prepare themselves for the Luka Donca, cheir Mark.

Speaker 6 (22:03):
Thanks for joining us, Happy forth.

Speaker 9 (22:05):
Happy for Lonchy are the best.

Speaker 4 (22:06):
I obviously DeAndre Ayton came to the Lakers because they
need a big also a good lob guy for Luca.
But what if Luca doesn't sign with the Lakers.

Speaker 9 (22:18):
It's a fair question. Nothing is guaranteed. Until Luka Doncer
signs his extension. August Beck did, and I think, like
Lebron James, he would like to see the Lakers put together,
you know, very competitive roster that will enable them to
contend for championship. But I haven't gotten any inquint any
doubts that Luca will sign this extension. And it was

(22:39):
very telling that shortly after the Bust family sold their
majority share some Mark Waltzer that Luca not only had
a tweet of enthusiasm for but he was saying something
along the lines of wanting to help the Lakers compete
for multiple championships. Well, you connect the dots there. He
only has one year on his contract. If he's got

(23:00):
to speak in a plural sense here, he's got to
be there for more than one year. So nothing again
is ever guaranteed of the NBA. But I am willing
to pat whatever assets I have that he is going
to be with the Lakers beyond next season and he'll
sign that extension.

Speaker 3 (23:16):
Mark Medina or Fox Sports Radio NBA insider joining us
here on this fourth of July. Shee's monte blagno. So
I'm Dan Beyer get Mark on exit Marchie underscore Medina.
I'm going to bring you into the fray for what
we started out the show with. It's been a topic
that has been talked about for decades. I feel that
the time is now. The West is so loaded, Mark,
I feel it's time to do away with the conferences.

(23:39):
I don't understand how it could be interesting for eighty
two games next season in the Eastern Conference when you
have so many depleted teams. We're talking about half of
your league basically being uninteresting. I know it's been a
topic of discussion in the past, never came to fruition,
But would you before or against the NBA doing away

(24:02):
with East and West.

Speaker 9 (24:04):
Yeah, I think it's a fair question to be asked.
I think the only thing that holds me back is
how it affects travel schedule in the playoffs. Not that
this hypothetical first round would ever happen, but think of
the scenario of Portland playing Miami in the first round.
That's a lot of travel to open the playoffs, and
I think that that would open a lot of concerns

(24:25):
from both conferences on how that variable plays out. But
I am with you that when you look at all
these injuries, Cyrus Haliburn, Jason Tatum, the Milwaukee Bucks trading
Damian Lillard, but still having uncertainty with how the rest
of their roster is going to pan out. These an
conference is in a very diminished state. But the sense

(24:45):
that I get talking to Adam Silver and people around
the league, you know, not necessarily recently, but when this
topic has been discussed, that they acknowledge the competitive balance
issues and they'd like to have equal alignment with both offerences.
But they are very, very concerned with the travel component,
and they also anticipate that if they were ever to

(25:07):
actually implement that that they would hear a lot of
complaints from teams that are worried about, especially if one
of them becomes a casualty in the playoffs with facing,
you know, a team in the opposite coast in the
first round.

Speaker 4 (25:23):
You know, it's hard to hear that travel is the
reason why they won't move forward with eliminating Mark.

Speaker 3 (25:30):
Yeah, and Moncie and I talked about it earlier. You've
got so many teams in the Central time zone that
are in the West right now that I don't think
it's as bad. I get the Portland Miami thing, but
when Portland makes the playoffs in twenty forty two. I'll
worry about it then because that's about as far away
as they are. I just it's it's it was a
discussion previously and I wasn't for it, but now it's

(25:52):
just the East has just never risen to what the
West has done, even dating back to the two thousands,
the early two thousands with the dominant Laker Kobe Shack teams,
and I just I don't know why it is. I
don't know why the West has just been stacked the
way it is, but I just feel something needs to
be done now.

Speaker 9 (26:12):
Yeah, it's a fair point, and I agree with you
wholeheartedily that you'd like there to be ideal competitive balance.
But just thinking out loud here, I am pretty sure
that not only the league would counter with the travel concerns,
but they would also say, you know what, injuries are
very unfortunate, but it's almost a random chain of events

(26:33):
that you would have catastrophic injuries to three legitimate contenders
that change the landscape, and what are the odds of
that sure happening? You know long term.

Speaker 3 (26:43):
Agoin I would just say to that, it wasn't like
the East was a Juggernaut entering this playoffs.

Speaker 9 (26:50):
Yeah, that's a fair points. Fair point.

Speaker 4 (26:53):
We're talking to Mark Medina, our NBA insider on Fox
Sports Radio on Monty Bilanos.

Speaker 6 (26:58):
He's Dan Byer, last one from me here, Mark.

Speaker 4 (27:00):
You know the Knicks team out of the East that
was fun to watch throughout the postseason. No lie there,
But they decide to fire their coach and they're expected
to hire Mike Brown.

Speaker 5 (27:09):
Now is this option D or F.

Speaker 9 (27:15):
You know, it could be after, it could be actually
in the middle of the alphabet, because it seems like
that they have asked permission for every single playoff team
to talk to their head coach and they said, no,
it's not a bad higher. Mike Brown's a great coach.
You know, cover Note know him well, how he ticks,
great defense, great preparation. He's able to get guys to

(27:37):
play hard for him. Now, you know, the doc that's
followed him over the years is the offensive limitations with
his system as well as just how he wears skies
down eventually with long practice sessions, long film sessions. I
do know that he has addressed those issues ever since
going to get Golden State. Yeah, I mean they had
a dynasty team. But it was a very eye opening

(28:00):
experience for him with how Steve Kerr managed things that
made him appreciate that less is more and it's good
to open the offensive playbooks. And he carried that out
in Sacramento. Now that ended up firing, but I would
argue that more to do with the Kings front office
disfunction than anything else. So I think that he will
succeed as the knixt head coach. I think the challenging

(28:21):
part here is this. It's two fold. One. The Knicks
fired Tom Thibodeau after they got to the Eastern Conference
finals for the first time in twenty five years, so
that their expectation is they have to win a championship
or at least win the NBA Finals. I don't know
if they're doing that even with you know, the depleted
Eastern Conference landscape, because the West is so loaded and
I put the Thunder as the favor and number two.

(28:44):
Even though I think that Mike will do a good job,
you know, I want to be surprised that they hold
the same weaknesses against him as they did with Tom Thibodeau.
That you know, eventually he's good at getting guys to
work hard, but sometimes it's law diminishing turns after the
next few seasons, and then there's also a lane. At first,

(29:05):
Tibbs is getting criticism, Hey, his practices are way too intense.
You're wearing guys out, You're running them in the ground.
So we dial back. And then when he was fired,
the Knicks were saying, yeah, we didn't feel like he
had enough intense practices enough to get the guys ready.
And so with Mike, I think that he'll try to
be flexible with that. But I think regardless, he's going

(29:28):
to be judge on results, and they don't get the results,
they'll use whatever approach he took. As you know, the
reason for his dismissile YEA.

Speaker 3 (29:36):
The question I would ask the Knicks is simple, what
can Brown do for you? We will find out. We
will find out in a matter of months. Mark enjoyed
Jurassic World. Say hello to the mosasaurus that you'll see
throughout the film. We'll talk to you soon. Appreciate it.

Speaker 9 (29:53):
We'll do appreciate you. We'll keep our eye on the
other dinosaur in lebron yees.

Speaker 3 (29:58):
Oh, that reminds me we are on the watch twenty
twenty five.

Speaker 7 (30:02):
I'm Watched twenty twenty five.

Bo's our executive producer today and Isaac Lowin Crown is
at the news desk and he's got a game.

Speaker 2 (31:07):
This is game time game on The Doug Gottlieb Show.

Speaker 10 (31:12):
And today we've got a Fourth of July themed edition.

Speaker 2 (31:17):
Of I Got DIBs.

Speaker 10 (31:19):
First item, best Major League ballpark to watch a Fourth
of July game in person at.

Speaker 3 (31:29):
I got DIBs. I don't know if they have fireworks,
but I got DIBs on Pittsburgh. I did go to
I've been fortunate enough been to PNC Park a couple
of times. I went one day, didn't even care about
the game. I left in the sixth inning. I just
wanted to hang out at the park. I bought a
cheap ticket up in the right field corner so I
could just look out over the river and look at

(31:50):
the city. I don't know if they have fireworks on
the river at night, but that would be an awesome
place to watch. So I'll take Pittsburgh.

Speaker 10 (31:56):
How's the food there, by the way.

Speaker 3 (31:57):
Oh delicious. They also had a Quaker Steak in Lube
inside the ballpark, which is kind of It's kind of
like a Buffalo Wild Wings, just on a little smaller scale. Yeah,
and it was delicious. Yes, absolutely, I've never heard of
that establishment. Some of them have gone out of business.
Maybe they tried to expand too much, but in that
part of the country, they are there.

Speaker 10 (32:16):
Okay, So I actually when you said that, I'm like,
is that an oil change place? But it's actually like
a place where you can get steaks and wings? Yes,
how about that?

Speaker 5 (32:25):
How about that?

Speaker 10 (32:26):
Things you learn?

Speaker 5 (32:27):
You know.

Speaker 4 (32:27):
I unfortunately have not been too many ballparks, so for me,
Dodger Stadium, especially today because it's not a day game.
So if it was a day game, it can get
a little warm. But since the game is later on
and it's still July, because come like September, you go
to hot Day and Daughter Stadium, you.

Speaker 6 (32:42):
Can roast, you will be barbecue yourself.

Speaker 5 (32:45):
You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 6 (32:46):
But today, since it's an evening.

Speaker 4 (32:47):
Game, Yeah, Dodger Stadium, they're doing fireworks today against the
cheating Astros.

Speaker 6 (32:52):
So it's gonna be great day. Still not over it,
never never over it hashtag never.

Speaker 11 (32:58):
I got DIBs on AT and T Park, wherever the
Giants play now. Yeah, most gorgeous stadium in baseball, So
I'll go there for my fourth July.

Speaker 12 (33:06):
I got DIBs on Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, one
of America's oldest cities. I've been in Philadelphia over the
Fourth of July. I've not been to a game on
the fourth of July in Citizens Bank Park. But I've
been to a few games there and it's a great stadium.

Speaker 3 (33:19):
Well, they've got the All Star Game next year because
of the two hundred and fiftieth Anniversary of America. That
was set out way in advance that the All Star
Game will be in Philadelphia as part of that soligation.

Speaker 6 (33:30):
Somebody, somebody actually was thinking at.

Speaker 3 (33:32):
Beautiful fireworks over the parking lot that is the Philly
Sports Complex.

Speaker 10 (33:37):
And I'm actually surprised nobody here said Wrigley Field very interesting.

Speaker 3 (33:41):
In the ivy fully out now.

Speaker 10 (33:43):
By the way, I'm looking at the Quaker Steak and
Loube menu as we speak. Look at this for side orders,
which they call sidecars. Among other things, you can choose
from bourbon baked beans and cinnamon apples, as well as
sweet potato waffle fries. The fascination with this establishment continues.

Speaker 3 (34:01):
I'll tell you this quickly. You don't have to dump
this sam my favorite flavor of wings Louisiana Liquors. It's delicious,
absolutely delicious.

Speaker 5 (34:09):
To me, is this spicy?

Speaker 3 (34:12):
Here's the other thing, is I really really like this place.
And I took Jonas Knox when we went there for
the US Open in twenty sixteen. I think I took
him to the worst one that there was, and I
felt like so demoralized because this place is usually awesome.
I just went to a bad location. I didn't know
the area, I didn't know where we were going, and
they just didn't And by bad location, I mean they

(34:33):
just didn't put enough sauce on our wings. Maybe they
weren't as hot, but still it's delicious.

Speaker 10 (34:37):
Jonas also says that you guys went to a tanning
salon at another US Open at Pittsburgh.

Speaker 2 (34:43):
Do I have that right?

Speaker 3 (34:44):
There was an La tan but I didn't go. We
didn't go, Okay, yeah, by where we parked.

Speaker 10 (34:49):
In Oakmont, Pennsylvania.

Speaker 3 (34:50):
Yea. All right.

Speaker 10 (34:52):
So Wimbledon is in full swing right now. Third round
action today. Who you got DIBs on the best golf
or tennis major? Golf or tennis major? The best one?
Who do you got DIBs on?

Speaker 3 (35:03):
I got the DIBs on the Masters? Yeah? Darn.

Speaker 6 (35:06):
We could have taken it from him, guys.

Speaker 4 (35:08):
Why didn't anyone take DIBs over the Masters? He would
have been so sad about that. I like the all
white looks for Wimbledon. I think it looks clean, so
I will take Wimbledon.

Speaker 5 (35:20):
I like this.

Speaker 6 (35:20):
I want to go just so I can dress up.

Speaker 3 (35:22):
I don't even he's on my bucket list. I want
to go.

Speaker 6 (35:25):
Yeah, can we go? I want to go for credentials,
just so I.

Speaker 5 (35:29):
Can be in theme with it.

Speaker 11 (35:31):
Samon bo, I got DIBs on the Tour Championship that
Happy Gilmour won.

Speaker 12 (35:38):
Veryla Sam, I'll take DIBs on the Open Championship there
and all right, there you go.

Speaker 5 (35:43):
Alright Scotland finale.

Speaker 3 (35:46):
This year, Northern Ireland, who you.

Speaker 5 (35:48):
Got DIBs on?

Speaker 10 (35:49):
This is going to be a real free for all
Fourth of July foods. I will start with the buyer
ordered pizza.

Speaker 5 (35:56):
Nice, that's all. It's good.

Speaker 4 (35:59):
I can I do a veggie burger because every time
it's like America.

Speaker 5 (36:05):
Whatever.

Speaker 12 (36:06):
You have the freedom to be a vegetarian. Here you
you have freedom.

Speaker 3 (36:10):
You could have just taken corn on the cob, but
you made it about a veggie.

Speaker 4 (36:13):
Burger because I want like the I want like something grilled,
like I want like a burger, like a hot dog.

Speaker 6 (36:18):
You know what I'm saying, Like on the grills, give me,
give me a burger.

Speaker 3 (36:22):
I'll take a burger.

Speaker 11 (36:24):
I'll take a brisket, nice brisket.

Speaker 12 (36:26):
I got dab's on the hot dog. I don't think
anyone took that. Oh it's a good pick.

Speaker 6 (36:30):
How many could you eat?

Speaker 3 (36:31):
Oh? Maybe five or less?

Speaker 5 (36:33):
Five or less.

Speaker 3 (36:34):
We almost killed justin Frossburg one year because we had
a hot dog eating contest here nod. He was gonna die,
I honestly did.

Speaker 5 (36:42):
How many did he eat?

Speaker 3 (36:43):
Did he win?

Speaker 5 (36:43):
At least?

Speaker 3 (36:44):
Yeah? He had, like I think he had at least four.

Speaker 4 (36:47):
Yeah, he did win, so it was worth it.

Speaker 3 (36:50):
That's game time. That's not all time. But he was
on that day. He won that day. That's game time.
She's Monzie Belo. So I'm Dan. It's the Doug Gottlieb Show.
We are off on. Lebron watched, We've watched twenty twenty five.

Speaker 7 (37:03):
