(00:44):
X boom Uh. Let's get into it. Last night, great
night at Lambeau. Uh. I mean, I guess I gotta
ask Danbyer what he thinks of the of the Icy
Way Green Bay Packers. But I've been a broadcaster, obviously
much longer than I've been a coach. I've been in sports.
(01:06):
My entire life, and I there's something that we haven't
discussed a bunch, but it's a real thing. I call
it championship energy. I championship energy. And I remember I
went to Villanova's practices usually like once a year. Jay
Wright would let me know, like once a year, sometimes
(01:28):
when I was doing a game, sometimes when I wasn't
doing a game or whatever. And the year they won
their first championship, I went to their practice because I
was calling a seat in Hall game they won down
at the end of at the end of the game
against Seaton Hall, and I remember turning to maybe their
sid at the time, and I said, like, does this
feel different from different than other years? And he's like
it does. I said it does to me too. Now
(01:52):
this is before they went out and started just eviscerating people.
Beat Oklahoma by what forty four points in the semi finals,
and obviously one on incredible Chris Jenkins three point shot
to beat North Carolina. So I'm not going to tell
you that at that very moment, at that very moment,
I knew this is going to be a championship team.
(02:15):
But when you are around teams that have just kind
of that right chemical mixture. It's no different than when
you're around couples. Right when you're around couples and they're
dating and you're like, how long has been together? Like
two months? Like wow, you guys look like you've been
(02:36):
together for twenty years? Wouldn't people with twenty years Usually
they don't care about each other. I'm kidding. But the
point is that you can field championship couples, you can
field championship teams. There's just a different field to it.
And maybe it's because, yes, I'm boots on the ground,
(02:56):
I live in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Maybe it's because I
have gotten a chance to get to know some of
the coaches, some of the players, and I'm drinking some
of the kool aid. But in what was an ugly
game was not crazy competitive from the commander's perspective, and
anytime it was close, the backers like porge is better
(03:18):
than you. Here's Jordan Love talking about the win and
his defense after the game.
Speaker 3 (03:23):
Ten days in to this NFL season, you're two to
zero against divisional contenders? How did you do it tonight?
Just team victories right there, back to back. You know,
defense been dominant, been shutting people down in offense. We've
been doing a great job putting up points and you know,
finishing these games off. But it's a great start to
the season. We just got to keep building on it.
What impressed you most about the way your defense contained
(03:44):
Jaydan Daniels the.
Speaker 4 (03:45):
Whole offense over there.
Speaker 3 (03:46):
That's a really good offense, and just the way the
defense been flying around. You know, obviously we didn't get
a turnover tonight, but they're hunting that ball and they're
flying around making a lot of plays. So you hold
a good offense like that to eighteen points and let
us go go score, we're gonna win those games.
Speaker 2 (03:59):
It's a good football team. I don't think anybody would
argue I would say that it doesn't mean they're going
to go to the super Bowl. And lots of things
can happen. I mean, they had one of the best
wide receivers breaks his collarbone yesterday, right They injuries can
destroy it and you can get in a bad stretch
and what looks like what looks like utopia can turn
on you. But that's a good football team. They whatever
(04:23):
becomes of the Lions as they'll grow and evolve with
the new offensive coordinator, whatever becomes of the Commanders, as
you know, they want to know and dominated the Giants,
but it's been sloppy for them. They're very both both
very likely or supposed to be playoff teams, and neither
were within striking distance for more than a couple of
minutes in the second half. Right and the only obvious
(04:50):
And it's early, not a dope eighteen week season. We're
not even two weeks through, but this feels like a
championship level roster and energy. Here's Micah Parsons. He sat
with the Amazon crew and talked about his acclamation to
a new team.
Speaker 4 (05:09):
Talk to me about the process and how much time
you spent just learning the playbook and make me getting adjusted?
Speaker 5 (05:14):
Yeah, you know. First, as soon as our you know,
the trade happened, I was like, man, well you want
me to come in? I'm super ecstatic. And then the
second process is are you willing to come in early?
Are you willing to stay later? And I just think
it's fun when I learned new things, I get like excited.
When a DC comes up to me, it's like, we're
excited to have you. I got so many ways I
want to use you, but you got to learn this.
I'm like, all right, we'll hurry up. So you know,
(05:35):
it just gets me excited. I'm excited, and Jeff's a
hell of a play.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
Till Jeff is Jeff Hafley. Here's Jaydon Daniels talking about
the loss.
Speaker 5 (05:44):
They executed their scheme, whatever it was, they executed really.
Speaker 3 (05:47):
Well because they won the game and we just didn't
make plays. Starts with me, starts with everybody in front,
starts with the whole offensive skill group. So it's not
pointing the finger at anybody.
Speaker 4 (05:57):
Collectively, we're all to blame and you'll go.
Speaker 6 (06:00):
Back to work.
Speaker 2 (06:02):
Fettering guy, mature guy. He's only a second year, but
he just sounds like a're growing up. I don't know,
I still like Jayden Daniels. I walk away just incredibly
impressed with the energy of the Packers. Look it is
really and maybe some of that energy fades because the
trade was late in the preseason, and so this is
you know, you got a chance to see him twice
(06:23):
in four days. Now kind of the real work begins
is now he'll get a chance to get in complete
football shape and have complete working knowledge of what he's
supposed to do. But when you look at the Packers
and what's ahead of them schedule wise, and what it
looks like for him. I mean, again, look this is
(06:44):
they have extra time off. Then they go to the Browns.
I mean out of the Browns good. I don't know,
but when you get three days extra prep and you're
a really good team. Then they go to the Cowboys.
That's obviously that would be the Micah Parsons Bowl. Then
you have the week off Bengals at home at Cardinals
at Steelers, which will be insane, Panthers Eagles at home
(07:08):
that'll be insane to the Giants, and so on and
so forth. We move down the line, like I just
you can't be in a better position than two and
zero one notable injury and being feeling this good about
yourself with this amount of energy and not at least admit, yeah, look,
(07:30):
does that mean they go to and win a Super Bowl?
I don't know, but that felt like super Bowl energy,
much like great couples feel like they're gonna make it
long term marital energy, much like college sports team feels
like championship energy. Byer, what did you think of the
other white uniforms? That's actually I wanted to ask you
(07:53):
the whole time on text, and I decided I'm just
gonna wait until the show.
Speaker 6 (07:56):
Okay, well I can. I can weigh in on the
Packers as well if you'd like.
Speaker 2 (07:59):
But you know, but uniform, you are the official uniform
connoisseur of Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 6 (08:07):
Well, they wore these last year as well, and the
thing that a lot of US uniform lovers would have
liked to have seen which was missing was a yellow
stripe on the helmet. I think it's a really good
look for Green Bay, but the helmet almost just doesn't
look like it matches when the uniform has yellow stripes
down the side and on the sleeves of the jersey
(08:29):
and then it doesn't have one on the helmet. If
it would connect with the helmet, it would be a
really really good look. Kind of reminds me of when
the Lakers unveiled their white uniforms. They were so used
to the Lakers wearing purple and gold, and then all
of a sudden, there was a white uniform and you're like, Wow,
that's really clean, that's a really good look. And I
feel that that's the same thing with these Packer uniforms.
Speaker 2 (08:49):
Yeah, I could use a little yeat. You'll use a
little yellow to pop, use a little yellow pop. Did
you I know it wasn't a terribly clean game. Do
you agree that it feels like a different energy there.
Speaker 4 (08:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (08:59):
And I think that the Micah Parsons deal did that.
I think there's a lot of reasons why if you're
a Green Bay you do that trade. Number one is
to get a player of that caliber and in your
window right now. But what it's also done, as you said,
it's put this energy into this fan base that they
haven't had before. I think it gives confidence to your team,
to your players to say that, Wow, they think that
(09:22):
we are ready to go. They think that we are
a super Bowl caliber and they're willing to put it
on the line for us. I thought Green Bay's corners
last night against Washington were magnificent. Of Valentine and Nixon
a great job in shutting down Washington and Jaden Daniels
are basically keeping them in check. I mean, it was
(09:42):
seemed like the zach Ertz Show for a little while there.
It was the only thing that was going for Washington.
So that has the trickle down effect. And Doug schedules wise,
they they were given some favors, but I don't think
that we can over state what beating Detroit and Washing Washington,
a team that we thought that could contend for the
(10:02):
or some thought could contend for an NFC championship, maybe
a Super Bowl berth and then to beat the Lions,
the team that's kind of been your bugaboo for the
last couple of years, and to do both of those
in relatively easy fashion. I thought green Bay dominated both games. Yeah,
really impressive with green Bay.
Speaker 2 (10:22):
Yeah, I just I the the beating the Lions. Do
people know they had one divisional win last year and
it was basically was a botch kick by the by
the by the Bears, like one divisional win. So now
you have two wins, granted both were at home, but
against two very likely playoff teams or what we if
(10:42):
anybody was to be a prognosticator, and I know Jase
two we talked about, you know, predictions are really hard
in this league. But still you would say, like Lions
commanders in the playoff, not a crazy surprise, those are
those are big ones. But it was it's the the
cornerbacks are better because you have somebody who you have
less time to get rid of the football because he's
(11:04):
coming after you.
Speaker 6 (11:06):
And this is the team by the way that again
was kind of at that stalemate with JayR Alexander and
then ultimately just decided And I know that went back further,
but they end up just ultimately releasing him, and those
guys step up.
Speaker 4 (11:19):
They stepped up big last night.
Speaker 7 (11:21):
Can we give Buyer some credit? Su twenty four hours ago,
Buyer in our first open of the show here brought
a stat to everybody's attention. Very interesting staff. I don't
want to misrepresent it, Dan, but I think it won
along the lines of the Packers quarterbacks in the history
(11:41):
of their franchise that have won Super Bowls all cashed
in on their twenty seventh year they were twenty seven.
Somebody with the Amazon production obviously was listening. They had
that front and center with a stupid cartoon during the show.
So credit to Dan Bayer for doing the homework of
(12:03):
the Amazon producers.
Speaker 6 (12:05):
I think it was just a storyline, especially in the
most recent window of Farvarn Rogers. Those are the two
quarterbacks and the one Super Bowl that they won happened
to be when they were twenty seven. Jordan Love Yes
turns twenty seven this year, does so in November and
when if the Packers make it to the super Bowl,
he'll be twenty seven at that time. So it's all
there for him in a team that's the super Bowl caliber.
(12:26):
And now you just wonder, gosh, if they're better than
the Eagles, then they're the best team in the NFC,
because they showed they're better than the Lions and Commanders
right now. Pretty impressive. But twenty seven was the magic number.
Part Star was twenty seven as well. I didn't even
include that in the stat.
Speaker 8 (12:42):
Be sure to catch the live edition of the Doug
Gottlieb Show weekdays at three pm Eastern noon Pacific on
Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 2 (12:53):
Stug Gottlieb Show Fox Sports Radio. So he was speaking
with media earlier this week and Dan for people who
are new to the show, Dan Bayer is a huge
Seahawks fan, so I definitely want him to be part
of this discussion anyway. Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf said
he feels no extra juice this week as the Seahawks
(13:14):
face his team, The Steelers. Remember the Seahawks draft him
in twenty nineteen, traded him this offseason. Quote, it's just
another team. On the schedule that just so happens to
be playing the Pittsburgh Steelers. We've got to go out
there and do everything we can to try and win.
It's just another football game. Prepare like it's any other
football game, because after this they're gonna prepare for their
next moment, the next step on the schedule. It's just
(13:37):
how it is. It's not different at all. Yeah, I
don't think that. I think that's crap. Right. That sounds
like a coach and coach speak and it's about us
and not about them, and worry about us and one
game at a time, and this game doesn't matter anymore
(13:59):
than like what huh? And I understand there's a lot
of turnover in Seattle, right, and maybe a better way
to articulate what it would be. Look, that's a different
gentle manager, a different coach, and a different owner than
one that drafted me. That's fair, okay, But to say
(14:26):
those things, is John Steinder still their GM? Yes, okay,
my mistake. But it is different owner, different owner because
the owner died then this has took over and yeah,
all that stuff. So different coaching staff, wildly, different personnel,
different you know, different just about everything. It's easier to
(14:48):
disconnect that way, and you might say last year he
was a little disconnected anyway. But I just I mean,
this is this would have been. This is a third
really third starting quarterback in Seattle. He went through two
geno after Russ, So I understand some of it. But
(15:09):
I just don't know anybody who's a competitor who doesn't
want to kick the ass of the team that traded
him released him, even even when it's not the team's fault. Right,
you sign as a free agent with another team, you're
still mad at your first team who drafted you, believed
and you played you for however many years. Bira, what
(15:31):
do you think as a Seahawks fan, how's that land
on you?
Speaker 4 (15:34):
I'm not I'm not shocked.
Speaker 6 (15:36):
I actually think that it shows professionalism from DK Metcalf
and maybe what the Steelers are trying to to prove.
I also think that the surroundings around DK Metcalf, specifically
Aaron Rodgers, specifically Jalen Ramsey, who had great showdowns with
when Ramsey was with the Rams and and DK was
with the Seahawks. They're all coming from other former teams
(15:58):
as well, so maybe they have you know, an act
to grind with the Dolphins. We saw last week with
the Jets and Rogers comments afterwards being what they were.
But I'm not shocked that he's not making a big
deal out of it, because I think that's what you
want to do in that scenario. We'll see if his
(16:18):
play shows on the field. But this is the mix
of DK Doug is. We think that DK is maybe
this hot head and he's got the face paints with
the lightning bolt and the earring. Yet what's the play
that we remember most from DK metcalf running down Buddha
(16:38):
Baker on an interception and the extreme hustle of it.
And he had a mixed It was kind of like
a mixed relationship with Seattle. There was a little love.
There was some frustration because there weren't like enormous big
game catches that you remember from him. But you loved
his passion, you loved his effort, and he was a
(17:00):
physical freak, and he did make great plays for Seattle.
He's to me, Doug, it's just kind of one of
those like AJ Brown being dealt by the Titans with
the Eagles. They're college teammates. It's kind of similar. Didn't
fit what the Seahawks were doing, making the change. They
paid less for Sam Donald, They're invested a little bit
more on defense, and happened to be one of those things.
But I don't I think he'll look at it as
(17:22):
a revenge game and maybe say afterwards, but not shocked
that he said this prior.
Speaker 2 (17:28):
I don't love it. I mean again, I do think
it shows a professionalism in what you say, but there's
a way in which you can say it. S Doug
Gottlieb Show, Fox Sports Radio. Okay, let's get to Mark Dominic,
who's former general manager with the Tampay Buccaneers twenty years
in the Nation Football League. He joins us every week
(17:48):
on the show. Let's get to what we were just
talking about. DK Medcalps Like, ah, just another game. How's
that land on you when you're a general manager?
Speaker 9 (17:59):
Just like a team that didn't have the energy they
usually have. The Commanders didn't feel like they had the
moxia or the juice that we saw from him last year.
You know, they didn't really come out really great against
the Giants either, and so I think they're I'm hoping
it feels like it's just a team that's you know,
trying to work themselves into the right shape, into the
(18:20):
right charisma, into the right situation. They've got the Raiders
coming up next, but they they felt flat for two
weeks and it's not the team we're expecting to see.
And even if you are honest with yourself, Doug, you know,
knowing coach so well, he didn't feel like he had
the normal Dan coach Quinn energy even on interviews, and
so it just felt like the team wasn't on patas
or on par for what they're usually going to be.
(18:42):
I have a feeling that will change. But the Raiders
next week has to see a spark.
Speaker 2 (18:47):
Okay, let me ask you about about Aaron Rodgers. How
do you think he looked weak?
Speaker 4 (18:52):
One?
Speaker 9 (18:53):
I thought Aaron played well. I mean, I know the
numbers were great, but I thought he played well and
made the throws. I mean, the thing that really to
me was and I think the best way to say
it is when you see older quarterbacks, right, it's it's
hard not to think of sadly, you know, as great
as he was and is Peyton Manning, you feel like
when he was still on the ball, it was like
you can get it out, come on you can do it.
(19:14):
You just felt like he's what wasn't natural, wasn't easy.
It was like, I'm going to really have to throw
my arm into this one, where with Rogers you could
still see the ball just still pops out of his hand.
I mean, so the biggest thing to me is the
arm talent still right where it needs to be. And
that's the huge part about it, and I think that's
the most encouraging thing about it. You know, the Jets
certainly offensively played and called a great offensive game. Surprisingly
(19:38):
to the Steelers. Defense was more concerning to me than
Aaron Rodgers as an offensive player.
Speaker 2 (19:43):
Uh okay, Aaron Rodgers former team. The Packers are now
two and zero. Again, I don't want to go crazy.
I'm not crazy Packers fan. I do. I enjoy being
a fan, but I feel like it's really early. It
was a sloppy game, but that felt like a championship
(20:03):
energy sort of in the building that Micah Parsons just
changes them. And then Jordan Love and you know, year
three as a starter, he's different. There's a level of
calm to him. What's your thoughts on the Packers two
games in.
Speaker 9 (20:18):
Yeah, it just continues to build off of what I
thought this summer, and you know, we talked about what
the impact I thought for Michael Parsons would be, and
I thought that was the piece that you know, there's
a lot about the continuity, you know, and the way
that defense is humming. I mean to hold you know,
the Commanders to fifty yards rushing. You know, that's you know,
they just they're playing so well together so early. And
(20:40):
again it's a young football team both sides of the ball,
and it's it's energetic coordinators and and you know, coaches
across the board, and so it's a great start for
the agreement Packers. They I mean, you would walk if
we could take us a month back and say, hey, look,
the Packers are going to win both games pretty easily
in the fourth quarter. They're not going to be sweating
the short Lions or the Commanders. You'd say, wow, that's
(21:02):
a pretty impressive team. So I think you have every
right to be optimistic in Green Bay saying, you know,
it's our division. Now we've got to see if it's
our conference.
Speaker 2 (21:13):
Let's take the Lions first. It was only one game,
new coordinators, some new pieces. How much of it is
it's just the first game of the year. There's a
lot to be worked out. How much should there be
alarms going off considering how dynamic this team was, especially offensively.
Speaker 9 (21:31):
Yeah, I think we'll learn a lot again with them
this week. I mean, the Packers are going to be
a formal opponent for everybody to have a feeling. But
what we'll see against the Bears, I think we'll really
kind of tell us where Detroit is. I'm not an
alarmist on this one. I still think they're going to
find their rhythm and still be that team that's going
to make the postseason, and they're going to have every reason,
you know, when they play the Packers again, and maybe
(21:51):
they're playing three times this year. But I'm not scared
of where they are. I know that the coordinator thing
is real and Aaron Glens impacked and the Jets was encouraging, right.
But I think what you'll see this week, I think
will be a little bit more of a tall tale
sign of what they're going to be all season long.
And we'll see how they play against the Bears. But
I'm not I'm not an alarmist on that one.
Speaker 2 (22:12):
Stut Gottlieb Show here on Fox Sports Radio, Mark Dominic
is our guest. What happened to the Texans two years ago?
Kind of took the league by storm, really competitive, getting
the playoffs, competitive in the playoffs, lose to the Rams.
Disappointing year. What happened?
Speaker 9 (22:30):
You know? I think they've they really struggled trying to
find that offensive line there, right and then they turn
around and they remove Lar and Mutunsel from the team.
You know, the guy last year was starting for him
as Juice Scruggs, and now he's not. You know, they
keep moving around different guys on their own on their
own offensive line. I think that's the piece that's they
can't find that continuity, which is so as you know,
(22:50):
so important. I mean again, it's it's what is it?
It's uh, Titus Howard's now moved over to right guard.
I mean he's been left tackle, right tackle guard. I
mean I can't find out. So I think that they're
struggling trying to find the offensive line and and until
they get that settled, I think that's what's really hurting
this football team right now. And you know, obviously they've
(23:11):
got new guys out there in Lakeln Dominson in the
draft choice and Cam Robinson so until that gets settled down,
I think you're going to see the same problems that
you're going to see a somewhat inconsistent team that doesn't
have the same moxie that it did a couple of
years ago.
Speaker 2 (23:25):
Uh I I watched the the Miami Dolphins, and I
know they had a players only meeting. I know they
got issues with Tyreek Hill, but I think their biggest
issue is they signed the wrong guy at quarterback. Right.
I just am I being too harsh that the Dolphins
(23:46):
thing between McDaniel not seeming to have to be as
discipline oriented as he needs to be with some of
those guys, and then they've they've kind of figured out
TOOA that just feels if I think feels like a mess.
Speaker 9 (24:02):
It's it definitely feels like a mess. It's definitely as
a former GM they have a player's only meeting after
week one is almost unheard of, and so that is
a bigger red flag to me than anything is that
they didn't realize this entire time that they weren't put together,
you know, that they weren't you know, giving their best effort,
(24:23):
and they weren't working together together to try to get
to where they need to be, and they weren't helping
each other accountable if somebody else isn't. So all those
things were those are you know, big concerns. And look,
they're going to play a Patriots team that's clearly better
with coach Brable who doesn't have the roster that he
needs to have still, but they're trying to put it together.
We'll see what they look like the Dolphins. I get
the sense we'll see a little bit better team in
(24:45):
terms of Tua. You know, I'm not gonna I'm not
going to go there with him just yet and say, boy,
they signed the wrong quarterback. They don't have a lot
of options in Miami. I think they understood and they
banked off of what they had the year before. So
let's I need this One's one where I need a
Patriots game to kind of get a better sense. But
to lose to the Colts the way they did, to
(25:06):
have a player's only meeting and just continues and knowing
mister Ross and how you know, sometimes he's got a
pretty quick leash in terms of head coaches. I think
this one's got, you know, three or four weeks. This
team is one in four or one in five I
think you'll see a change really quick in Miami. I'm afraid.
Speaker 2 (25:23):
Yeah, It's it's crazy how quick that can it can
it can just get away from you. Just really, what
are your thoughts on Caleb Williams after watching him Monday?
Speaker 9 (25:35):
I still still don't trust the accuracy, still don't like
him throwing on the move the way I would like
to see him. You know, it's no different than who
else struggled to me after I went back and watching it,
cayleb Murray, Kyler Murray, it was the same thing. He's
just you know, the movement throws just it was like,
there are opportunities there and you've got to take advantage.
When the good guys do that, I mean the really
(25:57):
good ones can do that. And Caleb to me still
and show that, you know, the opportunities were there, could
he take advantage of it? And so, you know, I
thought it was average and for how much they've worked
on that, you know, they had a shot to win
the game, and they certainly weren't positioned. It all fell apart.
It's how it works in the nationalot League. But sixty minutes.
But you know, there's nothing easy for the Chicago Bears
(26:19):
Detroit at Detroit this week, and so I think they've
got an early buy this year. I think it's like
week four, week five, So they need to have some
spark going into that one. And I know that they've
got at least Detroit and Dallas come up. I think
the Raiders after that. So Caleb's got to show that
he can lead the team and be the leader, but
make the plays when they're there, and right now he's
(26:40):
just not doing that still.
Speaker 2 (26:42):
Mark Domin's our guests, A former general manager Tama Bay
Buccaneers join us. Doug Gottlieb Show, Fox Sports Radio. Okay,
JJ McCarthy really tight, nervous, why shouldn't it be? First
game started? But then did make some plays late, some
of them were dialed up for him. What's your love
of confidence in JJ McCarthy moving forward?
Speaker 9 (27:01):
Well, it's it's you know again, I'd like to see
a full game of it. You know, that's the most
important part. But what you liked is, you know, the
way it sounded like he handled the huddle, the way
he sounded like when things needed to get done, he
could take care of it. And you know in the
confidence I think that he grew by the way he
handled the huddle. You know, I think those are all
(27:21):
exciting things for Vikings fans that you know, here's a
guy that when he needed to make him play, he did,
and he bowed up or not. You still got to
make the play, right, You still got to make the thrower,
still got to make the opportunity. And so you know,
that was good. I thought he'd actually play a little
bit better than he did. But I'm hoping that you know,
he's again he's building on really his first game ever
in the National Football League as a starter, Not really,
but it is. And now he's got it, you know,
(27:42):
an Atlanta team that was competitive in Week one, that
we'll see what they can look like. But uh, I
think that I'm still on the happy side of JJ.
You know, I just want to you know, he needs
to get his games in and get his goosebumps out.
But oh, in all the way he handled the huddle,
the confidence they put into the players around him, I
think helped will the Kings team to that victory.
Speaker 2 (28:06):
It's the Doug Gottlieb Show here on Fox Sports Radio.
Mark Dominic is our guest. Was the Bills come back?
More about the Bills or about the Ravens.
Speaker 9 (28:16):
I think it was more about the Bills. I mean,
what happened with Derek Henry and the fumble heard around
the world. You know, that's that's disappointing, obviously for such
a guy that was just dominating. I mean, it felt
like there was no answer for the Ravens, right, It
felt like the Bills had no shot. But you know,
when you get a tip the ball and end up
in a touchdown in fourth and two, you know, you
just realize this might not be our night. And I
(28:37):
don't think it's anything bad about the Ravens. It's had
unfortunate things happen that usually don't. Derek Henry doesn't put
the ball down on the ground very often, and you
usually don't get some random tipball turns into a touchdown
on fourth and too. So, you know, I think the
Ravens are fine. You know, I think that the Bills.
There was an amazing victory for them both. I think
they play each other again in the postseason, no doubt.
Speaker 2 (28:58):
About it, no doubt about it, no no doubt about it.
Who's the team that we haven't discussed that we need to.
Speaker 9 (29:09):
I guess if you you know, that's a good one, Doug,
when you start to think about who all played well
week one or who kind of surprised you and looked
better than expected, I mean the Colts were probably the
number one team that was like, wait a second, what's
going on? What happened there? I want to see a
little bit more of the Colts, the Chargers, of the
team that I've always kind of felt it could take
a step. And I know losing Slayter is a tough loss,
(29:31):
but I just felt like the Charges were a team
that was going to take a big step this year
and I thought they can win the division. I feel
still confident in that, but I thought the Colts. I
want to see what they can do back to back
because that was the team that surprised me more than anybody.
Speaker 2 (29:43):
Mark, have a great weekend. Thanks so much for joining us.
Appreciate me our guests in the show.
Speaker 9 (29:46):
Thanks Dog, thanks for having me on.

Oh you know we got picks next hour? You guys
are all ready for your picks. This is a big,
big weekend. Uh. Jase two nailed? Is Jase two team parlay?
I did not. I got one out of two last week.
I'll let you down. I'm buyer's pick. I'm sure did well.
(30:22):
Got to set your fantasy team if you haven't already,
And if you're setting your fantasy team, you need to
download the one and only I want your Flex podcast.
Gotta get to all those things. Before you get to that,
Let's get to a game with Dan Byer.
Speaker 8 (30:37):
This is game time on the Dottie.
Speaker 2 (30:43):
If you had Tucker Craft on your fantasy team, oh
that's this guy.
Speaker 6 (30:48):
I didn't realize you were back in the fantasy game.
You got kicked out of the league. Didn't you at
one point.
Speaker 2 (30:52):
Get you kicked out for winning? Yes, for winning and
not caring. They still owe me six hundred bucks.
Speaker 6 (31:00):
Should also be noted, I got my Gambler pick wrong
last week. I was on the Giants to cover against
the Commanders. I was on the Packers last night. I
agreed with you, Doug that I like the Packers and
the Packers to cover. But week one I was a loser.
We'll see if who's the winner today? Right here in
a game we.
Speaker 8 (31:17):
Like to call I got dimn This is where I just.
Speaker 6 (31:20):
Throw out a topic. There really is no winner, but
if you get it first, it's all yours. First topic
up for grabs. NFL teams, you're already out on after
one week of the season, Go Bears, completely out on
the Bears opening drive, Everything's great, Caleb Williams ten for
(31:41):
ten awesome, and then to see the collapse. Yeah, I
know the NFC may be weak, but I am completely
out on the Bears after week one.
Speaker 2 (31:49):
Dolphins, Dolphins, they're miss.
Speaker 6 (31:55):
Will They lead the league in team meetings because right
now they do what.
Speaker 2 (31:59):
One game in one team meeting? That's a that's a lot.
It's like, oh, and I think I speak for everybody.
Does anybody ever look forward to a meeting like a
group meeting? Oh? Man? I mean, and people try and
make their meetings fun, but there's just no way unless
you bring in that guy who does the magic, the illusionist.
(32:21):
He's thinking of a number, and all of a sudden,
somehow he comes up with a number and you like
tear into a Willy Wonka chocolate bar, and then there's
the number that he was you were thinking of that
you'd written down. Outside of that guy, there's no team
meeting that anybody wants to wants to be a part of.
Speaker 6 (32:34):
I think a good meeting like once every month is good,
but uh, into one one week end of the season
not good.
Speaker 7 (32:41):
I'm gonna I'm gonna say something very controversial here, and
I apologize to Mac Jones. I'm gonna bury the forty
nine ers. I'm gonna I'm gonna just I'm gonna stick
a fork in them. And as Kyle Shanahan keeps doing
what he does, which is lying to fantasy owners and
gamblers about the injuries on his team, I'm hoping he
(33:02):
gets suspended for doing that, but I just you know,
him telling me that that Brock parties week to week
means he's going to be out at least eight weeks.
Speaker 6 (33:13):
Again, They've got an interesting schedule because they have a
short week and week five and it's how much do
you want to rush someone back?
Speaker 4 (33:19):
Ryan? You anybody you out on? Or should we go
to the next one.
Speaker 10 (33:22):
I'm out on the Saints.
Speaker 4 (33:24):
Actually, all right, the Saints.
Speaker 10 (33:25):
You kind of need a quarterback and they don't have one.
Speaker 6 (33:28):
All right, let's go to the next topic, MLB team
you don't want to make the postseason. Not every race
is decided, some are, some aren't, Some teams firmly in position,
but there are a couple sitting there teetering Major League
Baseball team you don't want to make.
Speaker 7 (33:46):
I feel like this questions made for me, and the
predictable thing is for me to say the Podrais. But I,
in fact do want to see the Podrays. So but
as principal that you made this question for me, Dan,
I'm not going to fall for it. I want the Podres.
I want them now.
Speaker 6 (34:04):
That's like a reverse yes, I'll say the Mets because
I just to have the New York team And I've
got some friends outside of Rich Davis that are also
Mets fans, and they are completely miserable over this latest stretch.
For an ultimate collapse by the Mets, I do think
(34:26):
that it would be interesting. Losers of their last six
want to make the playoffs, and the Podres, by the way,
are probably going to be in there. They've got enough
of a cushion in the in the wild card where
even if they wouldn't win the division, they would still
likely be the wild card.
Speaker 4 (34:42):
But them I don't.
Speaker 2 (34:45):
I don't want the Astros would be my only one,
and it was a long time ago. I just test
some of the same people Astros.
Speaker 7 (34:55):
I could do with that, just to be honest, jose
L two wors number twenty seven and as somebody yelled
at him in a live game earlier this year, twenty
seven times represents the amount of times he knew a
pitch was in the postseason seventeen.
Speaker 4 (35:13):
I also I heard that fan as well.
Speaker 6 (35:15):
He kind of had a hiccup as well, like it
was like a little I don't think it was an
actual hiccup, but that audio went completely.
Speaker 7 (35:23):
Passion You miss take a hiccup from passion Dan.
Speaker 6 (35:27):
All Right, the Ravens are honoring their moving to Baltimore,
and why what better way to do it than where
their old uniforms is. They welcomed the Browns to town,
the Cleveland Browns, the city where they came from. If
you want to say, Ravens are a new franchise according
to the league, but we all know what happened. Sports
teams you wish never moved go the Raiders.
Speaker 10 (35:51):
Raiders never should.
Speaker 2 (35:52):
Have left from where from where?
Speaker 10 (35:54):
Take your pick, But I say Oakland They should have
stayed in Oakland there. That's what we wanted. They needed
a stadium. Okay, great, You mean to tell me if
a team like the Eagles or the Bears needed the
stadium that the NFL wouldn't step up and say, okay,
we'll help you out. No, it's bs. They never should
have left Oakland.
Speaker 2 (36:13):
Noted noted.
Speaker 7 (36:17):
I got DIBs on the Seahawks. I liked a Seattle
had an NBA team. I thought Seattle had a good
NBA team, a good history.
Speaker 4 (36:25):
You should have.
Speaker 2 (36:25):
Stayed Seahawks, SuperSonics.
Speaker 4 (36:27):
That's what I meant.
Speaker 11 (36:28):
SuperSonics didn't move to southern California for like a weekend
in the late nineties because they were gonna play in Anaheim,
be based there for a weekend.
Speaker 4 (36:40):
There was like the California Seahawks, Chargers.
Speaker 2 (36:43):
Chargers is the answer right there?
Speaker 4 (36:46):
You go.
Speaker 2 (36:46):
You're a bunch of dope. San Diego, you're a bunch
of dopes. Could have had it all. Just build a
stadium downtown like everybody else. Would have been a dome stadium,
would have had final fours. No, we gotta go to
LA for everything. We need to go there to Dallas
for stuff. Build a stadium. It wasn't gonna cost you
a penny. It was all gonna go to rental cars.
Speaker 6 (37:08):
Does I'll say the Raiders and Los Angeles just to
be different.
Speaker 4 (37:12):
And that's game time.
Speaker 2 (37:13):
You get out there and pressed that.
Speaker 4 (37:14):
We're pressed. Whatever you want. What's going on? We need
a team meeting.
Speaker 2 (37:22):
We need a meeting. We need it. We need a
team meeting. We need Cardinals also a good answer. Saint
Louis Cardinals.
Speaker 4 (37:28):
St. Louis Cardinals agreed yes.
Speaker 2 (37:30):
Coming up next. The Dolphins had a players only meeting already. Yep,
it's next
