(00:37):
our guy Jays two. You know he's not to the
we stattle of the Wii status, but of all fans,
of all people who are celebrating today, Jay stwo would
be the most likely and the most acceptable to stay
we because he literally has watched every Dodger game of
the year. And although he's been a curmudgeon and he

(00:58):
said multiple times this team just does not have the pitching.
It's just not gonna happen. Uh. And they're soft and
Mookie Bets is a choker. You know, all those things
are well documented. His team did, in fact win the
World Series. And it's not just do you won the
World Series, it's the way in which you won the
World Series. Here's the final call on Fox TV last night.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
The Dodgers a strike away from a championship, from a
proper celebration.

Speaker 4 (01:39):
On us, you're Dodgers heavy losers.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
That's Joe Davis on the call. This is the Doug
Aleph on Fox Sport Tradio. There are similarities, right, and
you had a It was Julio Urayas who closed it
in twenty twenty, right, and again at the time he
was a starter, I believe, who came in and closed
the door. We've seen this happen time again. But the
Game seven starter and I saw Jay stew was texting
and then I tweeted out, what if they put shoe

(02:18):
Hey Otani in for the Bobbo in the ninth inning
to go in and beat the Yankees in Yankee Stadium
two out of three times? Super impressive to come from
behind in late in the game against the Yankees. Super
impressive to come from five to nothing down, especially when
Aaron Judge finally hit a home run and they seem
to wake up the bear really really, really impressive. I

(02:41):
told those last three outs are always hard against the anybody,
especially the Yankees. The last twenty seven against the Yankees
and Yankee Stadium are difficult. And I know they had
an expensive team, but the reality is that a good
amount of that expense is on the IRS pitchers. And
schoey Otani can't pitch.

Speaker 3 (02:57):
I know.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
Yeah, by the way, he could barely hit at least
for show Tony since hurting his shoulder at the end
of Game two him two. But they found a way
or maybe and right here's the coaching express and more
games are lost than one. The Yankees lost that game.

(03:19):
I mean, I think in the late innings, coming from
six to five down, putting together at bats, loading the bases,
getting the sackfly, you know, and then get some hits
and score like all that stuff is great, but none
of it happens if the Yankees don't start throwing. Looking
like when my my son stopped playing baseball, one of
the big reasons he played didn't stop playing baseballs. He
wasn't on particularly good club teams and bad club teams

(03:43):
when you're in like fifth grade, they look like that.
They boot the rest and the expression we always ad
is man getting nine outs is really hard in one inning, right,
And you you felt for Garrett Cole, but then he,
of course he has his own mental brain flatulence. While

(04:04):
you're sitting there and you're watching it home and there's
a grounder and they get it. At first she's like,
where's the picture. And the look on his face when
he was ultimately removed from the game was of the
realization that he let everybody down. Yes, picking the ball
up in the sixth inning and shutting him down was great,

(04:26):
but you can't get it back from where it was.
And I'm going to give you an expression that I used.
I honestly don't know if I heard it somewhere or
I just made it up. It's one of those things
where when you say it or you're like, that's the
most simple minded, very easy, repeatable, dumb quote, but you

(04:50):
might actually like it. You ready for it. The fundamentals
are the fundamentals. Whoa what's that mean? Though? Ball fielding
the ball, catching the ball, throwing the ball, understanding based
upon outs, based upon situation, where the ball goes, who's

(05:11):
supposed to cover, Where's the cutoff man, et cetera, et cetera,
et cetera. Those fundamentals have not changed, have not changed.
Sometimes where the ball goes, you know, do you hold
a guy on? When do we have a play on?
Some of that has changed because the emphasis of baseball.

(05:32):
You know, for a long time we didn't have guys
run because everything was hit home run and we didn't
value small ball. Now they increased the size of the
baseball bag. You know, of first base or I means
you have second base. So it does technically make it
easier to steal. It's it's reinstitute death. But unless you
can throw it, catch it, field it, it doesn't matter.

(05:52):
In basketball, the sport has changed in terms of the
use of the three point shot, the use of different
quadrants of the court, the styles of people don't run, motion,
people don't do things inside the three point line. But passing, dribbling, catching, shooting, defending, rebounding.
That hasn't changed. Angles and themes does change. The fundamentals
are the fundamentals in football, blocking, tackling, holding onto the ball.

(06:16):
He who turns the football over less generally wins. Right,
Those things haven't changed. The fundamentals are the fundamentals, and
the New York Yankees were not fundamentally sound, and that's
why they lost the game. Now, can you blame it
on not putting enough work in it? Maybe? I don't know.
Can you blame it on the pressure of the moment
when you're up five to nothing and you feel like

(06:37):
and then all of a sudden you make an error
and now a sudden two or three like, yeah, that's fair.
By the way, that's called choking. When the pressure and
magnitude of a moment cause you to perform at a
level far below the normal standard for you or for
your team personally, that's choking. Yeah he's choked. But to me,

(06:59):
it's the fundamentals. Are the fundamentals and when you and
that's challenged the most at the times in which the
pressure is the highest. And I can tell you, like,
we're playing a game. My first college basketball game as
a coach is on Monday, play my ole Moner Oaklam State.

(07:19):
They're bigger, they're more athletic, they're stronger, they're older, and
based upon the way they play, the number one thing
that will win us or lose us the game is
the fundamentals. Can we pass, can we catch? Can we
make shots, can we defend, stop the ball, can rebound
the ball? Like the placing of the players in the
skyning report Like, oh, that's important, but unless you get
to the fundamentals, it doesn't matter. And that I think

(07:44):
is ultimately what undid the Yankees, you know, even the
fact that, like I get, you have show Hay and
then you have Mookie before you get to Freddy Game one,
How you use a guy who hadn't pitched in a
month and then his first pitch is a fastball right

(08:06):
down in the middle. Why are you not throwing a
breaking ball which goes away from him? Why that's the
whole strength that left you lefty matchups? The fundamentals are
the Fundamentals' stuck golleb show here on Fox Sports Radio. Jase, do,
how are you feeling today?

Speaker 5 (08:21):
Oh?

Speaker 6 (08:21):
I'm feeling wonderful. Thank you, Thank you for all the
compliments in the first couple of seconds of the show.
And I could not be happier. I cannot be happier
for myself, who has been with this team since the
nineteen seventies, but I couldn't be happiest for my son Jacob,

(08:41):
who is able to celebrate and acknowledge a first regular
season World Series title. So I'm I'm over the roof
and a couple of things on what you just said.
You know, the fundamentals are definitely the issue here, and
one thing that we know about any sport is that
in the post season, when things get tight, your flaws,

(09:03):
your warts tend to surface. We knew the Yankees were
not fundamentally sound all season. This was kind of one
of their weaknesses base running as well, and it came
to bite them in the butt last night. The inverse
of that, or the converse, whatever the word is, the Dodgers'
warts over the past seven or eight years, they just

(09:26):
didn't have any clutch to them. That was regular season
thing and a postseason thing. And this team, whatever chemistry
shake up Andrew Friedman made to this team, adding the
best player in baseball never hurts. They became clutch. They
became tough as nails, and it was such a fun

(09:46):
team to watch. So you go beyond all my curmudgeon
and it was just a fun experience and I'm real
happy about it.

Speaker 2 (09:54):
I think you want to know what changed. Freddy Freeman. Sure,
Freddy Freeman, you know he wins the game in Game one.
You know, huge home runs in Games two and three,
especially early in the game when they're you know, there's
pressure on you, and you know other guys have that hangover.

(10:14):
I think Freddy Freeman, you know, Freddy Freeman.

Speaker 6 (10:18):
That was the underreported, underrated at bat of the night.
You know, the Yankees are getting a lot of agree
for the way they they threw the ball round in
the fifth, but Freddy Freeman came up with two outs
and the bases loaded, and you have to get that hit,
and he did. He got the hit when the Dodgers
needed him most.

Speaker 2 (10:38):
Yeah. I mean, listen, at some point when a guy
does it again and again and again and again, you
just go, hey, that's he's a dude. That was remarkable.
And of course he had done it before when he
was with Atlanta in the World Series, not afraid of
the of the big moment. And then you know, I

(10:59):
believe this there is something different. The Warriors did it
a couple of years ago when they won an NBA
title in Boston Garden. Just like the Dodgers. It's one
thing to win a World Series. It's another thing to
beat the Yankees. It's a whole other thing to beat
the Yankees in Yankee Stadium and come from behind in
Yankee Stadium when you got idiots like those Han Yax
and right field who thought they're playing defense by trying

(11:20):
to take the ball out of Mookie BET's glove. You know,
in Game four, you didn't just vanquish the Yankees. You
didn't just beat them in Yankee Stadium. You came from
five to nothing down, then you were down again late
in the game and came back in one. And when
you're out of relievers, you use your Game seven starter
who closed the door. Pretty awesome stuff, and I think

(11:44):
the ratings were reflect That was a great and memorable
and watchable series.

Speaker 7 (11:48):
Be sure to catch the live edition of The Doug
Gottlieb Show weekdays at three pm Eastern noon Pacific on
Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 2 (11:59):
Stuck outleib Shit Fox Sports Radio. Have I told you
guys how Tom Cruise movies are just like women's Halloween outfits?

Speaker 5 (12:16):
Anybody?

Speaker 6 (12:16):
What does that mean?

Speaker 2 (12:18):
Have ever I've ever done this analogy? Okay, So Tom
Cruise basically plays one character in almost all his movies,
name the movie there, Uh uh Sammy any mood? What
what Tom Cruise movie. Name of Tom Cruise.

Speaker 5 (12:37):
Movie original mission impossible.

Speaker 2 (12:40):
Okay. He plays a cocky spy, right, okay, top gun,
cocky fighter pilot, cocktail, cocky bartender, risky business, cocky like
high school kid throwing, throwing a party like you name it,

(13:03):
a few good men, cocky naval lawyer. Right, it's the
same character, only a little bit different. Background makes sense? Yep, yep, Okay.
Halloween outfits for women, they're all the same. Right, it's
sexy or slutty nurse, referee, pirate, spice girl, cop, name it,

(13:31):
it's it's the It's Tom Cruise movies. Women's Halloween outfits
won the same.

Speaker 6 (13:36):
How to do I like it?

Speaker 5 (13:38):
I like it.

Speaker 2 (13:39):
I'm just people are gonna they're gonna go to a Halloween
party to night and they be like, you know, Gottlieb said,
it's all really really, really true.

Speaker 6 (13:46):
I think we just think, can we think Instagram for
that for the women wearing sexy outfits, because like, I
just feel like this is like the last ten to
twenty years that maybe because we just see more of them,
but I think you just see.

Speaker 2 (13:59):
More of us. It's definitely it's definitely trended that way.
In our lifetime. I also think Halloween's become a much
more popular holiday because it's a non secular holiday, and
it's like, who doesn't like Halloween?

Speaker 4 (14:10):
Right?

Speaker 2 (14:11):
Who doesn't like Halloween? It is weird though that people
play like super X murderers and like that's we grew up.
I was scared to death of Halloween because we had HBO.
I know, we were super wealthy that we had hbos
as kids. I was the one who did you guys
have the cable box that you could actually slide with
your finger? Like that was my job. Everybody else on

(14:33):
the couch and Doug was a little brother, so he
had to get up in anyway. We put on HBO
and we'd watch the Halloweens and it was like Halloween one,
Halloween two, and I would have nightmares for like two weeks.
Now I don't watch scary movies, so now I love Halloween. Tonight.
The Jets are favorites to beat the Texans according to
the DraftKings sportsbook gap that are one and a half

(14:53):
point favorite against the Texans. I don't understand this line
at all. The over under is forty two. I get
call me crazy, I know Stefan Diggs is out for
the year. I know they've had all kinds of injuries,
but the Texans, they're just a better football team than
the Jets. There's nothing I've seen from the Jets that
lead me to believe they're gonna win a football game.
This was the Patriots last week. What would lead to

(15:15):
anybody to say, I'm gonna give my good my hard
earned money and put it down the Jets until proven otherwise.
You gotta go and pick the Texans, don't you. I
would take the under into the Texans. Stuck Outleap Show
here on Fox Sports Radio, coming to you from the
Tyraq dot com studios. Benvolan joins us. He covers the

(15:38):
NFL for the Boston Globe. Ben, Uh, why would anybody
believe the Jets are favored tonight? I know the Texans
have all kinds of injuries. Why would anybody buy into
the Jets.

Speaker 4 (15:50):
I think that's probably the only reason why. What you
just said. The Texans with their injuries right now, Stefan
dig out for the year, Nico Collins out defensively, They're
missing some pieces in the secondary and some key defensive
pieces as well. It's one of those lines tonight Doug
where it's so weird, like you know, seeing the Jets

(16:14):
fit favored, that you almost take it just because it
seems too weird to be true. Otherwise, on paper, it
seems like the Texans who haven't been playing great, especially
on offense, but they've still been winning games when they
haven't been their best. But they're kind of reeling right now.
Going into this Thursday night game at the Jets, I
realized the Jets are as well. But again, this is

(16:36):
one of those games it's so weird that Vegas has
to know something. So I actually have a decent spot
for the Jets at home tonight.

Speaker 2 (16:45):
S Doug Gottleab Show here on Fox Sports Radio. Okay, overall,
though Jets a bit of a disaster. Does anyone return
next year?

Speaker 4 (16:55):
For the Jets a bit of a disaster. It's been
a monumental disaster, the biggest one in the in the league.
I feel fairly confident that Garrett Wilson will probably be back.
He's a young, talented player. DeVante Adams, you know, his
his deal right now is just a placeholder. Maybe they
find a way to bring him back. But I think

(17:16):
Aaron Rodgers on he looks like he's toast just physically
not there right now, really lumbering around the pocket, not
moving well and looks to me like he doesn't want
to take hits, like he's getting rid of the ball
really early. So yeah, I think this is probably it
for the front office, the coaching staff. Aaron Rodgers. I

(17:37):
do think they're probably gonna take some dynamite to this
thing after the season, assuming that they don't pull it together.
I mean, it's still possible. The schedule does kind of
soften up for the Jets now in this middle stretch
of the season. You know, Cardinals, Colt, Seahawks, Dolphins, Jaguars.
These are if Rogers can pick things up and get

(18:00):
a little healthier. The schedule does have some winnable games
for the Jets, But no, it's looking like the season
is gonna end poorly and that they're going to have
to blow it all up and start from fresh next year.

Speaker 2 (18:13):
Stut Gottlieb Show, Fox Sports Radio, coming to you from
the tyrack dot Com. Stuous Ben Bolan is our is
our guest. Okay, there's a myriad of other things. Russell
Wilson look better, look better on Monday Night. Do the
Steelers believe this is sustainable.

Speaker 4 (18:33):
I do think they think this is sustainable. They've found
a good formula here. I mean the Steelers, you know,
for almost two decades now under Mike Tomlin, really good
offensive line, really good on the defensive line as well.
Like a team that can run the ball stop the run,
they're always going to be competitive. And now with Russell Wilson,
they found a quarterback who can make some throws down

(18:55):
the stield. In two games so far, he's been really
surprisingly solid, and it makes you wonder if his past
few coaches have just been using him wrongly, because Russell
Wilson has been going under center more than he hasn't
in any of the last several years, through a lot
of like play action passes from under center, and he's
been dynamited so far, and he you know, his under

(19:17):
center percentage just way higher than it was the last
few years in Denver and Seattle. So I just wonder
if his last few coaches had him in shotgun too
often and should have put him under center a little
bit more. I do think the Steelers have found a
good formula, and I think they should add I think
they should look for another receiver now to get you
another weapon beyond George Pickens. I think Russell Wilson. It's

(19:39):
a great redemption story with you know, the Steelers are
just paying him league minimum this year. The Broncos are
the ones paying him thirty eight million dollars. You know,
two teams have now given up on Russell Wilson. But
I think the Steelers he's found the right spot for them,
and Mike Tomlin has found I think a good leader,
a good veteran leader for that offense.

Speaker 2 (20:00):
Pretty good debut as the starting quarterback for the Cleveland
Browns from Jamis Winston. What does he have to do
to become a guy who's going to potentially be a
Gino or I mean not probably not a Baker Mayfield,
but a gino at Derek Carr, a guy who, you know,
with the quarterback back market yearning for people who can

(20:22):
play with experience. How far away is he from being
one of those guys that has value in the upcoming offseason.

Speaker 4 (20:31):
I think Jamis still has a lot to prove as
far as can he run an offense and not get
too caught up in the turnovers and especially the interceptions.
That's always been his biggest issue going back to Tampa
that year I think is twenty nineteen when he had
thirty picks his last year as a starter, and see
in the last few years as a backup, he's every

(20:51):
season he's thrown more interceptions and touchdowns. So it's a
good start for him. In Cleveland last week, three touchdowns
and no picks in that big win over the race.
Even now, let's see you do it, you know, kind
of week in and week out. You know, he's a
decent option for the Browns to keep their season going
now that Deshaun Watson. It's hurt. I thought they should

(21:12):
have brought back Joe Flacco. That probably would have made
more sense. But you know, Jamis can and win you
some games. It's just he's been so inconsistent over the
years and he's always kind of made too many risks
and struggled to be safe with the ball. So that's
now Kevin Stefanski's big mission is can he be the
one to solve Jameis Winston. But you know that's always

(21:35):
been his issue and what you know, one good game
against the Ravens, but now he's placing another tough defense
against the Chargers. Let's see if Winston can again avoid
the interception something.

Speaker 2 (21:45):
You mentioned Joe Blacko, He's gonna get a start start
for the Colts. Kind of a weird answer from Shane
Steichen where he wouldn't say absolutely, he's Anthony Richard's gonna
get another shot. What happened there? Like, why are they
so down on Anthew so quickly?

Speaker 5 (22:02):
Well?

Speaker 4 (22:02):
I think two reasons. One, it's the bigger picture. I mean,
the guy is such a roller coaster and they should
have known that going in. I mean, that's what Anthony
Richardson was in college at Florida. I mean, they have
games where he's nine for twenty seven throwing and we're
seeing the same thing here in the NFL he had
He's it's I mean, the statlines are amazing. The other day,

(22:22):
at one point he was two for fifteen passing, but
those two completions went for eighty one yards. I mean,
the guy is definitely like a big play machine, but
he's just so inconsistent, and I think that was driving
Shane Stikeen and the Colts.

Speaker 6 (22:35):
Matt.

Speaker 4 (22:36):
You know, this is not a developmental season for them.
They want to win, make the playoffs all that. So
the inconsistency was I think really frustrating the Colts. And
then on top of that, I think last week with
Anthony Richardson tapping out of the game admitting to it,
you know, with the public, I think that was a
bad a really bad look for Anthony richards stated he
probably lost some some veteran guys in the locker room there.

(22:58):
I know, Kelly the offensive lineman kind of spoke out
and said that Anthony Richardson was going to have to
have some work to do to kind of win back
some of the guys. So I think once he made
that decision to tap out, I think Shane Sike and
the Colts probably had no choice but to turn to
Joe Flacco. And you know what I think there, you
can't say it's a temporary thing. You got to put

(23:19):
all your focus behind and support behind Joe Flacco and Richardson.
Maybe he can come back next year. You know, he's
still under contract for two more years. That's pretty cheap.
But usually in these situations when a guy gets benched,
if he's going to resurrect his career, it happened somewhere
else like a Baker mayfielder, right, Jared Goff. So I'm
not totally closing the door in Anthony Richardson in Indianapolis.

(23:41):
But I do think the Colts kind of got fed
up with just how inconsistent he is.

Speaker 2 (23:46):
Right now, I had full disclosure. I had breakfast or
coffee this morning with the head physician with the Packers.
He wouldn't tell me anything about Jordan Lock like nothing,
I can't talk about it. But you have insiders, you
know what's give me the court real quarterback situation there
with the with the Packers and the Lions coming in
this weekend.

Speaker 4 (24:05):
Well, that's a good doctor, and he's doing a good
job of upholding his.

Speaker 5 (24:10):
You know, hippos and everything.

Speaker 4 (24:11):
So good for him. I would think that if it
was anyone other than the Lions, that Jordan Love would
be playing this week. But these are such big games.
I mean, these two Lions Packers games very well could
determine the NFC North this year and maybe even you know,
home field advantage. This might be like an NFC Championship
game preview. So I think that's that's why Jordan Love

(24:33):
is pushing himself. And if you're the Packers, I think
Jordan Love on an injured growing is still probably better
than the leak willis so at this point, I kind
of expect the Packers to push it with Jordan Love.
Is he going to have the ability? No, But he's
not a huge runner. He's more of a pocket quarterback anyway.
So you know, I think if they're playing anyone else,

(24:54):
he'd probably take a week. But the fact that it's
the Lions this game is so important, I think he's
gonna push it. And you know, he's already missed two
games this year with the knee injuries, so he clearly
wants to be out there for teammates. And he's got
this great street throwing two touchdown passes every time he
starts now, so that the Packers I think definitely want
Jordan Love in there. So I think he's going to

(25:15):
give it a go and do everything he can to
try to steal this win against the Lions.

Speaker 2 (25:20):
Yeah, it's going to be. It's a huge game here
in Green Bay. I can I can imagine. Obviously he
should be an offensive shootout as the Lions don't have
the pass rush that they had when they had Hutchinson
fully fully healthy. Things aren't good in Dallas. Things aren't
good in Dallas. What changes do they make if this
trend continues.

Speaker 4 (25:42):
I mean, I'm not sure how many changes there are
to make. The one I would think would be to
find another receiver. They've got Ceedee Lamb, but they don't
have much, you know, alongside him for Dak Prescott right now.
But you know, Jerry Jones hasn't exactly been in the
mood for spending here. He's spent on on Dak and
Ceedee Lamb, and obviously that you know, it was like

(26:02):
pulling teeth for the Cowboys. I just they haven't seen
they haven't been really all in this year, despite what
Jerry Jones said, And they haven't seen, you know, really
willing to go out and get another piece. But I
think their offense is a mess. And then just defensively,
they're very soft right now. I mean, uh, thirty first
against the rush, thirty first in points allowed. I'm not

(26:24):
sure how much help you can get at the trade
deadline to fix that stuff. It's gonna have to come
from within. They're gonna have to learn how to stop
the run. That's number number one rule for any defense,
and stop the run first. And the Cowboys last few,
last few games against the lines and forty nine ers
pretty tough. Now they got the Falcons and Eagles, and
then the Texan's coming up after that, so it doesn't

(26:44):
get any easier for the Cowboys. Mike Zimmer on that
one year contract, he's gonna have to figure out how
to shore up that defense quickly because they're all in
the hot seat in Dallas, and if if they don't
make the playoffs, that's another team where everything's going to
get blown up this offseason.

Speaker 2 (26:58):
There's some there's some Bears players questioning the Bears play
calling down on fourth and goal obviously at debacle with
how you lose that game? Here the Bears are, you know,
they're one play away from being five and two instead
in there four and three. What's Matt Eberflus's status in
Second City.

Speaker 4 (27:16):
I mean, I've got to think that it's his seats
pretty hot right now because they have a lot of
talent on that team, especially on offense. They've got a
young quarterback in Caleb Williams, and it's like, if Matt
Eberflus can maximumize the talent, then I got to think
they're going to find someone who will, specifically an offensive
minded head coach to get the most out of Caleb
Williams and that was not a good reflection on Matt

(27:38):
Eberflus last week. I thought the handoff at the goal
line to give it to an offensive lineman who of
course fumbled the ball away, that was a baffling decision.
You have all that talent on offense. Why would you
give the ball to number sixty eight on the goal
line the play before the hail Mary to give up
thirteen easy yard to let the Commanders get in range
for the hail Mary? I thought was terrible, terrible decision

(28:01):
by Matt Eberflus. And I know Tyree Stevenson, the defensive
back who is taunting the fans, I know he's gotten
all kinds of crap this week. That's a bad reflection
on the coach too, for not having his players locked
in and for kind of a letting, letting that nonsense
go on on the last play of the game. So
I realized it's a players game, and the Bears are
off to a good start this year at four and three.

(28:22):
But I don't know if you can make a case
that they're really maximizing everything you've got right now with
Maddy who's his head coach.

Speaker 2 (28:29):
I tend to agree with you, Ben great stuff as always, Man,
you always provide us with some insight that you just
you can't get anywhere else. That's why you're a national
insider for the Boston Globe. Appreciate you joining us. Happy
Halloween and we'll talk to you soon.

Speaker 4 (28:43):
All right, Thanks so much, Sark.

Speaker 7 (28:44):
Be sure to catch the live edition of The Doug
Gottlieb Show weekdays at three pm Easter noon Pacific.

Speaker 2 (28:52):
Song about paranoia, right then, what that's about. I got
a lot of texts about the pipes. No, this is
not post coaching pipes, which I used to get an
au basketball when I coach eight games in the weekend
and yell at little kids. No, this is just kind
of work through a little something. And now I wouldn't
call it a cold. It wouldn't call it a flu.

(29:12):
It wouldn't. It's not the VID, not the you know,
none of that stuff, just little something. A lot of
travel last week, so a lot of travel this upcoming weekend.
Gotta get right, Gonna get my mind right and give
me some Yogi tea. That's what I really really really need.

Speaker 7 (30:33):
I feel a dressed?

Speaker 5 (30:34):
Oh jeez, you know, I thought I sent you guys.
Did you guys get the menus that I sent a launcher?
I got that all right? Awesome, just making sure, thank
you if we should send them to each of our listeners. Well,
this is the reason why we needed to have the
menu because, as you'll see on social media and Doug
has talked about and we've talked about in advance of
Doug's first game as a coach, we will be broadcasting

(30:55):
the Doug Gottlieb Show live from Eskimo Joe's on Monday
and still want Oklahoma, So why not draft what we
may eat on Monday at Eskimo Joe's in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

Speaker 2 (31:08):
I feel like I'm a ringer for this because I
know the menu like the back of my hands.

Speaker 5 (31:11):
Well, I'll tell you there's you who knows the menu
like the back of your hand, and then there's Sam
who's gonna draft but not able to partake in any
of this delicious grub. But we appreciate the effort, Sam,
and you will be in our thoughts.

Speaker 2 (31:24):
And a special shout out to my man Tim Holland
who runs runs Joe's. He's running just for a long time.
Think his son's got a still at high school football
game Friday night. Then of course you got to walk
around and anyway making this happen for us on Monday.
I appreciate you, Timmy.

Speaker 5 (31:37):
Yeah, this is this is gonna be fun. I know, Sam,
you wanted to say something.

Speaker 8 (31:40):
I'll be there, no pun intended in spirit. Oh, I'll
be there in spirit and listen. I can always look
at a menu and get hungry and just like fantasize
about how good this menu looks.

Speaker 5 (31:50):
Sure, yeah, sure, I'm down for this. I like this idea.
All right, Doug, you are first up. Then Jason will pick,
then Sam will pick thurn, and I will pick fourth
and fifth and we'll swing it back that way in
the second round. All right, Doug, what do you take
it on the menu?

Speaker 2 (32:06):
Uh? Okay, So when I have to order entree and
a side again.

Speaker 5 (32:12):
I would just take one item on there and just
say I.

Speaker 2 (32:15):
Most known for cheese fries. So yeah, I'm gonna I mean,
I'm gonna get some cheese fries with the with the
hickory bacon. It's incredible. Yeah, really good.

Speaker 5 (32:31):
That was part of the Better or Worse yesterday and.

Speaker 2 (32:34):
Sweet pepper bacon and cheddar cheese fries. All right, that's
by the way. If you can eat that and then
something else, you're like, man.

Speaker 5 (32:41):
Here, we're gonna be better.

Speaker 2 (32:43):
Go to a good walk around campus as well.

Speaker 5 (32:46):
All right, Jason Stewart you're up second.

Speaker 6 (32:50):
I mean, I wasn't gonna order these, but that last
endorsement there, what it does to you biologically sold me on.
I'm just gonna go the regular Joe's fries. You know,
I'm I'm probably not unlike a lot of people in
this world. When I go to a place in a
foreign city, at a place like this, I just want

(33:11):
to get whatever you're known for. So give me the
Joe's cheese fries, just the basic, no pepper bacon, just
the cheese fries, please.

Speaker 5 (33:19):
I am gonna go on the bottom of the menu.
If you are online following along with us, Wait, I'm next.
Oh yeah, I'm sorry. I'm sorry.

Speaker 8 (33:27):
Yeah, you're right, Sam, I'm very enthusiast about I'm sorry
what happened?

Speaker 5 (33:31):
All right, I'm going to go.

Speaker 8 (33:33):
My first draft pick here is the smoked turkey milt
thinly sliced smoked turkey, grilled and topped with Swiss cheese
and sweet peppered bacon. Got some of that that their
vintage or their trademark pepper bacon, served on surdough bread
with a choice of a side.

Speaker 5 (33:47):
That sounds good to me. That's a really good pick.
I wasn't gonna take it at four, so I'm glad
that But that's a that's a really good pick. I'll
tell you what. Pecan smoked pork dinner sounds pretty good
to me. That did look good, But the what the
kicker was to make this a first round pick baked potato. Like,

(34:08):
I'm a big baked potato fan. And when you're saying
you can get it loaded with the jack and cheddar
cheeses and bacon bits, and.

Speaker 8 (34:16):
What goes into your baked potato, dan, what do you
mean like like for me, it would be sour cream,
like chives, bacon bits, cheese, butter, all that stuff. She's
bacon and butter. Okay, no, no, chives are green onion.

Speaker 2 (34:28):
And so this is so easy because the probably the
best thing on the menu is still sitting there.

Speaker 5 (34:32):
But go ahead, okay, Well I'm going with the uh
you know, the pecan smoked pork dinner.

Speaker 2 (34:39):
Well, that's that's how you know it's as pecan in
some parts of the country and pecans and some other
boaters are back to.

Speaker 5 (34:47):
Yeah, back to back picks here. I'll tell you what,
the blackened chicken sandwich sounds pretty delicious.

Speaker 2 (34:54):
Why has it got to be black because it is kidding.

Speaker 5 (34:57):
Allows the special Cajun spice choke because it's cooked in
an iron skillet, iron skillet onion bun. I may ask
to switch it up if I could do sour dough.
To be honest with you, because I'm not fine. Yeah,
should be difficult, yes, just to be that guy. They're
really gonna hate me when I say, no lettuce, no tomatoes,

(35:17):
nothing on it, just the butt of the meat.

Speaker 2 (35:19):
No, you won't, because that's how my son eats everything.
He's got a similar diet to you. Dan.

Speaker 5 (35:23):
Will he be there on Monday?

Speaker 2 (35:26):
He wants to he wants to get out of school. Yeah,
so games at eight, and he's like, I gotta get
to a squad. I gotta be a shoot around. I
got it. The radio show, I'm like, anyway, all.

Speaker 5 (35:36):
Right, black and chicken sandwich off the board, Sam, back
to you. All right. So I'm gonna go with my
second pick is good a.

Speaker 2 (35:42):
Eskimo Joe's and still got to Oklahoma the Jumpin' juke Joint.

Speaker 8 (35:45):
Go ahead and say, I'm gonna go with the Joe's
Super Coney Joe's Dog topped with our famous chili and
freshly grated monoe jack and cheddar cheese.

Speaker 5 (35:55):
Gonna go hot dog you and then hot dog right? Yes, left.

Speaker 6 (36:05):
They seem really proud of their foul things.

Speaker 2 (36:08):
Oh geez, oh cheese there. That that's the that's the
gold standard on the menu there.

Speaker 6 (36:13):
Okay, well that is good. The way the menu is written,
it looks like they're really proud of their foul thing chloral. Yes,
and the top item is the foul thing, Yes, deliciously
marinated charbaro chicken breast talked with a grilled pineapple ring
on a toasted sweet sour dough bun. I'll take the
foul thing.

Speaker 2 (36:34):
That's that's the proper answer. It's the proper answer. It's
a good, good call. I'm gonna I'll finish off with
the sweet peppered b l T. Remember bacon's so good.
The pan cheers joe, sweet pepper bacon, leaf lettuce, fresh
cut tomato slices stacked on toast wheat berry bread, and
serve with the choice of a side. And then like

(36:55):
a b l T, well an MLT with them when
the mutton is just so perfect, but a sweet pepper
belt really really good.

Speaker 5 (37:02):
I would think, unlike a super bowl. We can eat
on stage, right, Is that we good? Jason? We good?
On that you know is food?

Speaker 6 (37:12):
Yeah, we could eat on stage.

Speaker 5 (37:13):
Okay, for this opportunity, we'll keep it away from the
equipment though. That's game time.

Speaker 2 (37:21):
This is game time on the Gottlieb Show, cheese, fries
and foul things are the correct answer. Also, they make
great cheeseburgers. I'll probably end up having a cheeseburger. But
I just didn't want to be that boring guy, so
I went sweet Pepper back and then mostly because I
love that like and I love that line. Huh would
you say?

Speaker 5 (37:37):
I said, that's good to know.

Speaker 2 (37:38):
Actually, yeah, And you get to keep your cups. They
have Joe's cups. You can find buy them as well.
And they have those cups some of the Joe's cups
and were when you pour cold water in the color
changes as well. Those are cool. So we'll see you
there Monday. Make sure you're there and if you come
to the game, we're a little green. You guys are
coming to the game.

Speaker 5 (37:54):
Right, you're getting us tickets.

Speaker 2 (37:56):
I am getting your tickets. Doug Gottleib Show here on
Fox Sports Radio coming up next. We'll call it a throwback.
It's Throwback Thursday. It's next to The Doug Gottlieb Show.
