What's your Doug Gottlieb Show? Fox Sports Radio? Do Do

(00:21):
Do Do? Today is a Thursday. I don't know what
it's like in southern California. I'm guessing it's beautiful, but
I can tell you it's cloudy. I can tell you this.
The weather in Green Bay, Wisconsin is nicer here than
as nice here as it is anywhere in the country.

(00:44):
At eighty degrees, no humidity, absolutely spectacular, breezy. Last night
there's no fog, no spog. Mama cooked the breakfast with
no howk It's a great, great day. Hope you're having
one as well.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
Well.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
Gets ready for Thursday and football this hour, Uh, Chris
Filik is gonna join us from the bear Bets. Get
you some picks for the upcoming college football weekend. I
wear a lot of hats in my life right I'm
a head coach of the Phoenix, I'm a radio host,
I'm a dad. These are all things that take up

(01:17):
parts of my day, of my time. I don't know
if you guys knew, but I'm also I'm also a judge, right,
I'm also a judge. And part of being a judge
is you got to hear both sides and then you
gotta rule. So what we thought we would do, Okay,
what we thought we would do In reference to cal

(01:38):
Raley hitting his not one, not two, not three, but
his sixtieth home run last night, I would be the
judge as to who should be the AL MVP. Now
here's the first thing. And before we get into these arguments,
we have to stop with the he's number two now

(01:59):
on the most home runs in AL history. Does anyone
reference an sat or an at act score from somebody
who cheated on the exam, any sort of cheating on
the exam? No, And since it's already been we've already

(02:23):
been told. And look, even if you want to buy
the ridiculous story that I had no idea I didn't
knowingly use steroids, the fact is that Barry Bonds, Semi Sosa,
Mark McGuire admitted to knowingly using it used steroids. In
other words, there was some form of cheating, right, some

(02:45):
form of cheating in order for them to attain those
ridiculous numbers. Let's just stop b esing about it. Everybody
knows it was tainted, So pretend like it just didn't happen,
just like we all do that with you. Now, somebody
has cheats on a test, it gets thrown out, or
they get an f they get kicked out, they get exposed,

(03:06):
or maybe you have to retake it, whatever, But we
don't pretend like the test score is a valid one
if it was achieved through nefarious ways, through nefarious ways.
So I'll play the judge. All right, this is a

(03:33):
national Court of public Radio. Your judge Doug Gottlieb presiding.
The question is on the DACA today. Who is the
rightful al mvp? Okay? Is it Aaron Judge? No relation?

(03:55):
Or is it Cal Rawley. It is funny quick aside,
when I hear somebody's name cal Jase Due. We grew
up in South California, doesn't it make you think of
cal Worthington and Worthington Ford right where he would have
like the tiger on the commercial. God, that was just
such old school ninety stuff. It was so awesome back
in the day. Go see cow, Go see cow. Anyway,

(04:20):
let's get after it now. Is it just going to
be Cavino and pass it? Or are you guys going
to take going to take a side as well?

Speaker 3 (04:28):
Thank you, Doug. I'll take it from here. Thank you.

Speaker 4 (04:31):
I'll take it from here.

Speaker 3 (04:32):
Thank you. Judge, I'll take it from here. Thank you.

Speaker 1 (04:35):
You need to properly address me as such.

Speaker 3 (04:37):
So Doug told me prior to the show they wanted
to do this, this one idea. I had not executed it.
So I'm going based on how he told me about it.
But I thought it would be best. He's like, I
want you to persent both sides. You make compelling arguments
for both sides, and I'll be the judge to choose
which one I most agree with or which who's going

(05:00):
to be the m v P. But I thought I
really only have a compelling argument about one thing, because
unlike you, who loves to straddle the fence, I actually
pick a side and I go like vigorously at that side.
That's that's my that's my that's my break.

Speaker 1 (05:14):
Pause.

Speaker 3 (05:16):
So I'm gonna allow Fox Sport Radio superstar Steve Covino,
who hosts the show right after us with Rich Davis
Coveno and Rich. I'm gonna have Steve Covino, who is
a Yankee Diehard, make his case, and then I want
to also add Jeff Passen MLB insider's case for Aaron Judge.

(05:38):
I want you to listen to each of these and
then I will.

Speaker 1 (05:41):
Know their character with their character witnesses.

Speaker 3 (05:43):
So what you're saying correct. So this is Steve Covino
of Covino and Rich.

Speaker 5 (05:48):
The dude is incredible, and he leads in every single
category that.

Speaker 3 (05:54):
Is a major category.

Speaker 5 (05:55):
And I'll tell you except for home runs at RBI,
he leads an average on base per percentage, slugging, ops,
run scored, war walks, total bases, extra hits. Raleigh leads
in home run and RBI barely, and he's played more
games almost twenty more. Would have something close if he

(06:16):
didn't miss a game.

Speaker 3 (06:17):
Judge was hurt.

Speaker 5 (06:18):
What he's doing is remarkable, and just because he's been there,
done that, you're like, yeah, whatever, dude, whatever. The Yankees
would not be there without Judge and the Mariners. Yeah,
he's doing great for a catcher, but you don't judge
MVP based on great for a catcher. Judge leads in
every major category except for two, and Roley barely hit somebody.

Speaker 3 (06:40):
I see. So this is this is Jeff Passon's reason
why he would likely vote for Aaron Judge.

Speaker 6 (06:49):
I would go Aaron Judge, and I would feel terrible
about it. And yet one seventy five points in OPS
is an enormous gap. I was ever someone who when
I voted, got like fatigue on a guy. It's more
I marvel at him even more that he's been able
to do it year over year. And Aaron Judge, at

(07:10):
his size, with all of the pieces and parts that
he asked to move, turning into the best hitter, the
best home round hitter, the best hitter in Major League
Baseball was not something I had on my Bingo card.

Speaker 1 (07:23):
I'm going to use bingo. He used the Bingo card.
He used the Bengo car. Isn't that an automatic eliminator?
I don't you have to? You have to what's it
called when you're the lawyer and you you dispute something
on the Jeff, yes, go ahead? Object?

Speaker 3 (07:38):
Do you have that last part to raise from the record.

Speaker 1 (07:40):
We can have it stricken from the record.

Speaker 3 (07:41):
Yeah, ultimate ultimate sign of aug is using the phrase
I didn't have that on my Bingo card. But knowing Jeff,
I was.

Speaker 1 (07:50):
Today years old. Also it was today years old that
one no.

Speaker 3 (07:53):
No, no, Bingo card's worse. I will say this knowing
Jeff a little bit, knowing passing a little bit. He's
he's the guy who uses Bengo card. That's all I'm
gonna say.

Speaker 7 (08:02):
So.

Speaker 3 (08:04):
Jeff addressed the two major things going in Aaron Judges
favor the discrepancy in the ops. That's a big, big
stat with the nerds. And he fights against voter fatigue.
He doesn't want, you know, he doesn't want the Charles
Barkley or the Karl Malone. He wants you to vote
from Michael Jordan every year because he's the greatest player

(08:27):
in the league and the most valuable. I will make
a case for Cal Rawley right now, Judge, if you.

Speaker 1 (08:32):
May, yes, well, here are statements. Opening statement from the
lawyer representing the side for Cal Raleigh Chaston Stewart, go ahead, place.

Speaker 3 (08:44):
We have never seen a season like this from a
player that plays catcher predominantly I think he's spent like
twenty games as a DH, but he has hit like
over fifty fifty plus home runs as a catcher, which
is just remark. But when you think about the taxing,
the taxing of what it's like to be a catcher,

(09:07):
why we always see catcher's numbers decline in the second
half of the season, Why we always see catcher's careers
and late they're doing upwards of one hundred and fifty
squats per game. They need to also the mental fatigue
of knowing the strengths and weaknesses of every hitter on
the other team and the strengths and weaknesses of the

(09:27):
pitchers on the other team. When you hit, there is
a mental fatigue combined with a physical fatigue, which is
why you never get these numbers from a catcher. Sixty
home runs is the third most home runs ever hit
by anybody in the history of baseball. And again to judges,
to Doug's first point, i completely dismiss McGuire, Sosa, and Bonds.

(09:52):
I'm not putting them in this category. Cal Rawley deserves
the award because of the position he played, and it
very much needs to be considered in this argument.

Speaker 1 (10:07):
It's a very compelling case, very very compelling case. I was.
I'm intrigued by the fact that the lawyer representing the
cal Raley side did not list park rankings as part
of it. Right. In terms of hitters ballparks, the Mariners

(10:29):
Park is t mobile Park is the considered, if not
the worst, one of the worst in Major League Baseball.
I'm actually looking at baseballsavant MLB dot com. It's listed
as the twenty seventh best park in baseball. Twenty seventh.
That is, excuse me, twenty eighth. I don't know why
there's not every team listed, but there's twenty eight on

(10:51):
this and they are park factor. It is the hardest
park to hit in in Major League Baseball, fewer hits,
fewer home runs, basically a dead baseball as opposed to
the New Yankee Stadium, which is a home run hitters park.
Uh it's actually uh, the has the third most homer's

(11:12):
hit in it, the Reds Great American Ballpark and Dodger Stadium.
At part of the Dodger Stadium is that they have,
you know, the best player in baseball. But Mariners Park
is a dead ball park that hasn't been presented as
part of the info. I just I find it find
to be interesting.

Speaker 3 (11:29):
I want to I wanted to make sure that my
point that he is a catcher needs to be the focus.
That's the most powerful point of this. So yeah, I
could have I could have kind of deluded it with
numbers that you just pointed out, judge, but I wanted
to make a powerful case to the jury that you
should only focus on one thing. He puts a catcher's

(11:52):
mask on, and he has the physical and the mental
fatigue of playing catcher for one hundred and sixty games.

Speaker 1 (12:04):
Okay, just I'm checking through my notes here as a judge,
I do believe you said he was DH for twenty games,
so the numbers a little bit lower, correct. I just
wanted then one hundred and sixty games. They doesn't play
the he doesn'tlay catcher one hundred sixty games, I want,
just but did you know that cal Rawley is also
considered one of the best defensive catchers in baseball? Did

(12:28):
did you guys know that?

Speaker 3 (12:31):
By what?

Speaker 1 (12:33):
I don't know. This is just baseball dot Com I
was looking at earlier. I think that's actually considering his
offense too.

Speaker 3 (12:41):
I haven't I've never heard that about his defense.

Speaker 1 (12:43):
I heard that either, But I heard that either when
I when I I googled before the show, that's what
I came up.

Speaker 3 (12:48):
I've never seen on TV or in my uh in
my suspense novels. I've never seen the judge argue with
the prosecutor over points that they didn't make.

Speaker 1 (12:57):
I just this, this is uh what you approached the
bench and I discussed it. Uh. Bayer, Uh, you are
the bailiff or do you want to do you want
to present any side of this argument?

Speaker 8 (13:11):
I think on the bailiff is a is a good role.
I have an opinion, but you guys had good arguments.
I'll just sit there and listen.

Speaker 1 (13:18):
Nobody, nobody, nobody, just it's just me and you Buyer.

Speaker 8 (13:21):
What do you think I think it should be? Cal Raley?

Speaker 1 (13:25):
Is that the heart strings thing? Is that your Mariners.

Speaker 8 (13:28):
Absolutely the heart Like, no, that I don't care about
the Mariners.

Speaker 1 (13:33):
But no, yeah, I actually think that's the bigger point.
Nobody cares about the Mariners.

Speaker 8 (13:39):
Yes, Sam Judge.

Speaker 9 (13:41):
As a random observer in the gallery, I'd like to
just point out your excellent point about the difficulty of
homering out of Seattle's ballpark and all the other things
you presented, but the difficulty of homering in Seattle is
a point that must not be lost on this.

Speaker 3 (14:01):
Thank you, sir.

Speaker 1 (14:02):
Well, I'll take this into my chambers. Okay, I've decided
to make a ruling in the case of Aaron Judge
versus Cayl Raleigh for the ALE MVP in the Court
of Sports National Sports Radio Doug Gottlieb opinion. I rule
in the favor of Calvin Raleigh. I award him with

(14:26):
the American League MVP, and the court offers no, with no,
with no prejudice. This is my final ruling. There will
be no appeal, and I want to hear nothing from
Covino and Rich until it's their turn to have an
ASHER radio show case close. Yeah, I get I'm with you,

(14:50):
Jay Stewart. It's one of those I you know, there'll
be people who say, well, like, okay, so then should
you take into account that Lebron James is forty years
old for the MVP? No, oh, this is a positional
thing and we have not seen and you talked about
it at mid season, right, we'll get to the All
Star break. You're like, what do you guys think is
gonna happen second half the season. We all thought there

(15:11):
would be a decline, didn't know how much, and there hasn't.
And then you factor in he's in Seattle, and then
you factor in there they're in a pennant chase or
a playoff, wild card chase whatever, so not like he's
playing meaningful games where guys are just serving up taters
so he can hit sixty and I think it's phenomenal.
And yes, Aaron Judge does have overall a better hitting resume,

(15:33):
but he stands out there in the outfield, and every
thought through his mind is Gosh, this is boring out
here in the outfield, and what do I do the
next time? I'm at bet.

Stuck Gottlieb Show Fox Sports Radio. Our guy Chris Felika
is going to join us. We're doing I all College
game Day guys. Basically, if Lka's old school researcher College
Game Day, then he appeared on the show. Now he's
on Big New and Kickoff Less. He's got the bear
Bets podcast. We'll hear from him in about five minutes.
Before we get to that, though, I want to play
for you something. Kirk kurb Street's a friend. He's broadcast

(16:24):
tonight's game right on Amazon, and then of course college
football all weekend with College Game Day, et cetera, et cetera.
Here's Herbie on college football scheduling.

Speaker 2 (16:32):
It's another example of why we need eventually a commissioner's office,
like the NFL has a commissioner's office, right, and there
are a lot of different layers to what that office
could do. Obviously in this nil and portal era and
the realignment era, I think the biggest thing that I

(16:53):
think sometimes as a guy who eats and breathes college football,
there are some weeks in college football where it's just
there might be one good game, and there are other
weeks like this week. You could argue this is the
greatest weekend of the entire year. Starting Friday night there's
good games, yeah, and then from game day and then
after game day noon eastern all the way. If you're

(17:14):
crazy like me, you'll watch BYU in Colorado at ten
fifteen they start, and that'll go to whatever one in
the morning and you're thinking, man, why wouldn't we have
somebody instead of the Big ten in their own silo,
the SEC and their silo, the Big twelve and the ACC.

Speaker 3 (17:32):
Wouldn't it be.

Speaker 2 (17:33):
Great if we had a Commissioner's office to just kind
of like, let's spread some of these games out.

Speaker 1 (17:41):
Yeah, it's not not actually possible. Herbe right, because games
that are supposed to be good games before the year begins,
it doesn't always work out that way, right, what's a
good game? Like again, you're chasing of all the things
to fix in college football, that's not all of them.
Like this reminds me of I was on an airplane.

(18:04):
We lost a game last year. I know, I know,
we lost a couple of them. And I was with
one of my players and I said, you know, hey,
what do you think? What do you think? You got
any ideas on you know, I like to have them
feel like they're hurt. And it was actually my Australian
point guard Ben Tweety's like, couch we need to put
in went out to ball string continuity and I said, like,

(18:26):
I agree with you. I want to put that in.
But in the litany of things we got to get
to to fix to start winning games. Like, that's so
far down the list and it takes up so much time. Right,
that's what this is. That's what this is. You can't
this whole idea of like wy next weekend, there's not

(18:46):
enough good games, so let's move over. That doesn't work
that way. The games are set years in advance so
that fans know where to travel to. Conference schedules are
set a year in advance. Right, the SEC already has
their next three year schedules for conference play. Then you
just have to plug in your non conference play. I

(19:07):
love Herbie, but this is it's in the in the
pantheon of ideas that we should flush out. Doesn't make
the list, doesn't make the list. If you want to say, hey,
there should be a uniformity with schedules, the power for
conferences should all have to play a certain number of

(19:28):
conference games, a certain number of powerful teams in the
non conference I'd be all for that. It's not gonna happen,
but I'd be all for the grand standing of this
is what because and we can get into the reasons
and the logic why right, But yeah, the moving games
around so there's more interesting games, Like you can't you

(19:49):
can't plan for it because a team you think is
going to be good. Oklahoma we thought would be good, right,
played some primetime games. Well now they want to have
job MATERI. We don't know how long foro. So do
you want to watch this weekend? Sure? Do we want
to watch the Oklahoma game? Yeah? Of the Texas game? Yeah?
But if he doesn't play like then how will they

(20:10):
rate moving forward if he comes back? You know, Clemson
was supposed to be awesome. They've now lost two games.
They almost lost to Troy. How do you plan for that?
You can't. You just can't. All right, we'll get to
we'll have a discussion with Chris FeliCa on this week's

(20:34):
college football slate and who you should pick who should
stay away from that in a moment. First, let me
get you to Dan by her Day.

Speaker 8 (20:39):
We we got amazing things transpiring in the city of
Cincinnati today. Noelvie Marte robbed Brian Reynolds of a home
run with one out in the top of the ninth
inning to preserve a two to one lead by the Reds.
They held on for a two to one victory, and
with that, moved within a half game of the Mets
for the final wild card in the Nash League. This

(21:02):
is what it sounded like on the Reds radio network.

Speaker 7 (21:05):
He swings high fly right field, Marte all the way
back leaps at.

Speaker 4 (21:11):
The wool.

Speaker 8 (21:19):
Fly from the field, saving the day for the Cincinnati Reds.
They topped Pittsburgh by that two to one count. So
again Cincinnati sitting there a half game back of the
Mets for the final wildcard in the National League. In
other action going on right now, the Dodgers leave the
Diamondbacks for nothing in the fourth. The Dodgers magic number

(21:41):
to clinch the NL West is won so well when
today would do it, while Arizona is a game back
of the Mets for the final wildcard in the National League.
For over forty years, tirek has been helping customers find
the right tires for how, what and where they drive.
Ship Fast and free backs by free Road has a

dot com. The way it's higher buying should be. I'll

(22:02):
have some NFL injury notes coming up in the press,
plus a look at the Ryder Cup pairings for tomorrow morning.
At Bethpage. Doug Back to you.

Speaker 1 (22:11):
It's Doug Gottlieb show here on Fox Sports Radio. The
Bear Bets is his podcast. Chris Fleek is his name,
and you see him on Big Noon Kickoff and uh
uh feliks. Let's let's let's dive right in. Got some
huge games this upcoming weekend in college football. I don't
think there are any bigger, any bigger than the one

(22:33):
down in the SEC. Again, I think that's the that's
the biggest one to me. What are your thoughts on
Notre Dame. Let's start with Notre Dame Arkansas. Okay, Notre
Dame one and two, Arkansas plays everybody close. Arkansas four
and a half point home dog. Okay, but again it
is a home dog. What do you like?

Speaker 7 (22:52):
It's an interesting week because he's kind of this big
theme over writing for the week with Notre Dame being
ranging and going on the road. You've got you've got
eight games is where you have a ranked opponent on
the road against an unrining team, and it kind of
kind of feels like a spot where like for two
or three or maybe even four of these road favorites
could get picked off. This would not surprise me here.

(23:15):
I think one of the At the very least, this
is going to be a high scoring game because one
of the biggest things that I've been disappointing with this
year has been the Notre Name defense. It can't just
be a result of losing Al Golden Back to the NFL.
Something isn't right there, And I think maybe a little
bit of it is the fact that everyone was maybe

(23:35):
a little higher run Notre Dame. Then potentially they should
have been grandited. Our last year was a magical run,
and maybe they really weren't as good as the team
that should have been playing in the national title games,
and maybe they were a little bit overhyped, a little
bit over over the off. But I still think they're
a good team. But with Greeney quarterback, this is an
Arkansas team that was fumble away from palling upset ox

(23:57):
for a couple of weeks ago. At the thing down
with me, it's hard for me to take four four
and a half when it was six six and a
half a couple of days ago. That that move just
a t you get it through my mind to be
able to take a couple of points less than what
I could have gotten. So but it would not surprise
me at all to see Notre Dame go on the

(24:17):
road and have at the minimum struggle. One way you
could play this is if you do think Notre Dame
is going to miss the playoff, they're learning like minus
two to eighty or three hundred or so to miss
the playoffs. If Arkansas beats them, they're going to miss
the playoffs. So you know, maybe if just play Arkansas
money line to win the game, or you play usc

(24:38):
money line later in the year if they happened to
get past years. So I think there are a couple
of different ways to look at it. Potentially be on
the dog are okay?

Speaker 1 (24:45):
The big one in the SEC is Bama. Georgia George's
three point favorite. The total is fifty two and a half,
supposed to be warm, but potential for a little bit
of rain. What do you think?

Speaker 7 (24:56):
I mean, it's been thirty It's been a thirty three
game home winning streak for for Georgia, and this is
the shortest they've been favored in that street. I have
a lot of concerns about Georgia's defense. I mean, you're
looking at a team that they had five guys transferred
last year in the portal that are out starting for
other FBS teams. They had three guys taken in the

(25:17):
in the first round of the draft that an AFT
starting in the NFL some other guys that get get
drafted as well. I think they got problems, especially in
the back seven. So I think the biggest question is
is the Ty Simpson that we've seen the last couple
of weeks against Uel Monroe over match a terrible team
and Wisconsin middling to lower middling Big ten team, is

(25:40):
what we've seen the real Alabama or is it the
team that didn't have their two best running backs and
offensive line struggled in the opener when they got ambushed
up in Tallahassee. I'm warning to the bit here on
Alabama's interesting. They hung three three and they three and
a half, got bit down to three, and it's kind
of open through that three, and it's two and a

(26:02):
half in a couple of spots. Now, would not shock
me at all to see Alabama going there and win,
And I would not have expected myself to say that
after the game of talent Hasky. But while Georgia did
get the win at the offense was great and he
won a couple of East Ago defense kind of has

(26:22):
he spood a little bit.

Speaker 1 (26:24):
Stuck Gottlieb Show here on Fox Sports Radio. I do
want to get to a couple more games, but I
can't bury the lead. Oregan goes into play Penn State,
and we all know the numbers of James Franklin against
ranked teams. If you haven't, it's not good. But they
have Drew Allert, quarterback who some people think could be
the number one overall pick, hasn't been asked to do
a lot. What happens when they face the Ducks this WEEKND.

Speaker 7 (26:45):
It's interesting because this is a yet three versus six
and you mentioned the number with James Franklin four and
twenty at ten State versus top ten teams, and I
think he's I think he's one to nine in top
ten matchups when you're talking about big and competition. So
they've clearly struggled. I have not been a guy who

(27:06):
is super high on Pensan entering the year. I kind
of feel like they're the same team that they have been.
But I worry about Oregon in this spot. You know,
you and I we used to joke about this back
at our Espnj's about like the dog with fleas kind
of feels like Oregon is that like going on the road.
It's three and a half, feels like a lot of

(27:26):
people are on Oregon, but the line hasn't moved two
three that it feels like Vegas is kind of inviting money
on Oregon. I will say this one interesting number to
look up here is just go back. Since the twenty
twenty two college football playoffs, he's had twenty one matchups
between top sixteams. The spread hasn't mattered in anyway. It's

(27:52):
been just basically picked the winner and you picked. You've
had thirteen favorites win and cover the number, and you've
had eight underdogs win out right. So if you think
Oregon is gonna win out run if they were in
the right side, don't take the three three and a half.
Just take him to win the game. And on the flip,
if you think Penn States the right side, don't be
evident in laying the point. So I have a feeling

(28:14):
come Saturday night, I'm going to be on Penn State.
I think their defense is really good. They had a
lot of success last year in the Big Ten Championship
game running the ball, and this is still a pretty
young Oregon team. I think they only have like eight
guys of the twenty two that are starting in this
game that played in that Big Ten championship team. So

(28:34):
I think it's a tough spot for Organs.

Speaker 1 (28:36):
On Saturday Night, Crystal League is our guest. Bear Betts
is the podcast. He joins us down with the Doug
Gottlieb Show on Fox Sports Radio. You mentioned all the
other ranked teams going on the road. Sam is my
board up. He's a huge Iowa fan. They scored thirty
eight points. That is that that's not a typo against Rutgers.
Now now they have Indiana, and.

Speaker 7 (28:56):
There was there was a kickoff return in there too,
so they weren't all offensive points. So let's not let's
not given a let's not think their offensive wars are
through it. But they they did look competent yet last
week on offense, Gronowski certainly did not have a huge
date passing. He had the one pass I think it
was in the in the fourth quarter to set up
kind of that separation score. But he ran the ball

(29:18):
well and he was hard to tackle. That that's the
Iowa formula for winning this game. I think the Indiana
defense is obviously better than what they faced last week
at Sunge But uh, this is a this is a
tough task now for for Chritsignetti and they and the
Indiana Hoosiras to go on the road, a difficult place
to play, a team that's going to just kind of

(29:39):
ugly the game up not give Indiana very many possessions. Uh,
coming off of hanging a sixty burger up at Illinois
last week, Uh, this will be a This will be
a much tougher game. Obviously, Again, I think a better
opponent than what Indiana face less week. I do think
IU wins the game, but I can see myself being

(30:00):
on the side of the hawk Eves here.

Speaker 1 (30:03):
Hmm. Okay, I'm looking at all these other ranked teams
in the road. The one that I I think I'm
fast dated by is it's actually a ranked team at home.
A and M who survived Notre Dame, right surviving Notre Dame.
Auburn's coming in Auburn who lost on you know, a
trick play, A trick play.

Speaker 7 (30:26):
Huh. I was gonna say, you're allowed to say, I
know it, so you and oak stay I know you,
but you know they it was it was a cheat.
It was the cheat td is. I kind of dubbed
it with with some people on Twitter yesterday. Now, the
play should and the irony is is that A and
M so you mentioned, survived the game at Notre Dame

(30:47):
because of a play where there was a blatant hold
in the middle of the line of scrimmage that wasn't
called either. So you've got A and M who whose
record is probably a game better than what it should be.
You've got alburn with the with their game, but with
with their record with the game and more than what
it should be. So this is going to be injury
and very I think I just don't know if you're

(31:08):
Auburn and if you're you freezing that coaching staff and
that team, Like, I don't know. Personally, I try to
put myself in their shoes, like how do you get
over having a game just blatantly stolen from you? Like
that is a tough end. Look, the good thing is
they're going against an A and M defense that it
loves to give up plays on the ground, and they

(31:28):
will not have is difficult of a time with with
the A and M front seven, as they did at
ou Front seven last week. So I think the possibility
for Arnold is that running game to have a big day.
It will keep them in this game. I still like
this aubign team. Uh. The fact that an m was
all since that win in South Bend I think will
help them kind of come down from that a little bit.

(31:50):
But I like the dog here.

Speaker 1 (31:53):
LSU taking an Old Miss. Both teams undefeated, Ole Miss
at home, but ole Miss only a point. HW favorite
this tottal City five and a half.

Speaker 7 (32:02):
I don't love the game. We talked about this on
Barabets Decide that I that I came on with playing
an LSU team total over twenty six and a half.
Getting the big tight end back should help that offensive
in the mile will continue to get healthier and better.
And the Ole missed defenses, you're showing some holes. This
is not the all missed defense that they had last

(32:22):
year or in years past. I think they have a
lot of wholes. Shambles will start again for the for
the ReBs. I can see this game go a variety
of different different ways, but I do think LSU will
get their points this week against the unit that gave
up a bunch of points at Arkansas and a really
good offense.

Speaker 1 (32:39):

Speaker 8 (33:42):
Sounds to get to Doug. But we started the Ryder
Cup where bright and early tomorrow morning, the United States
and Europe will battle for the cup at Bethpage Black
and the first group op for the United States. We'll
include Bryson the Shambo. He's teaming up with Justin Thomas,
the Face, Turtle Hatton, and John Rahman. The first group
in the foursomes matches Doug. This is alternate shop format.
Not everyone plays their own ball, which will be the

(34:02):
afternoon format called four ball, so alternate shot. Expect to
see bryceon de Shambo trying to drive the green on
the first hole of the Roder Cup to get the
Americans juiced. At beth Page.

Speaker 1 (34:14):
I kind of think they should play the Donald Trump
speech there from the United Nations yesterday. What do you say,
are all your countries are going to hell? Amazing? Because
you know they have the big video board right there
on eighteen right, what if they just like for the introductions,
like all your countries are going to hell?

Speaker 8 (34:33):
Also they also benefit by having President Trump's Caddy as well.
I love that the video. I think you retweeted it
about a month or two ago, with the ball just
all of a sudden, Oh, there it is day they
found it, found it.

Speaker 4 (34:48):
But found it.

Speaker 1 (34:48):
We're all good. We're all good. Remarkably good lie. Should
be there, should good lie. You're a good lie. Mister President,
too fast.

Speaker 8 (34:58):
Too furious, great shot. By the way, President Trump, do
you know who homered today for the Dodgers? Just trivia?
Since you're hanging out with us, do you have any idea?
Do you have any mess? Who's a mess? Oh, it's
a mess. Sho he Otani homered number fifty, home run
number fifty.

Speaker 1 (35:18):
People are saying I would have played the major leagues
and I would have been better than Shotani home.

Speaker 8 (35:25):
Run number fifteen. There we go to answer, why do
you say it was a mess? That doesn't make anything?
I think it's the delay. You know, across the country
where we are, Dodgers up on the Diamondbacks eight nothing.
They can clinch the NL West with a win. Told
you the Reds beat the Pirates two on and an
amazing catch by Noela v Marte. The Diamondbacks. They started
the day at game back of the Mets for the

(35:45):
final wild card like the Reds did. But Arizona right
now likely to be a game and a half back
after this one. All right, Doug, let's get to the
football action. Commander's quarterback Jayden Daniels limited in practice today
with the knee injury looking more and more like he's
going to return in Week four.

Speaker 1 (36:03):
That's big news for the Washington Commanders. Obviously he would
struggle before the knee injury, but he feels like he's
their whole team. So but week four, good, got it noted.

Speaker 8 (36:15):
They've got to match up against the Falcons. No Terry
McLaurin today is he's still dealing with that quad injury.
Justin Fields was able to practice as he tries to
return from his concussion. Jets have the Dolphins coming up
on Monday Night. The uh, he just needs to clear
a protocol to play in that game. That's the first
of two games on Monday Night. But it's the staggered start,

(36:37):
so Broncos and Bengals will start an hour after the
Jets and Dolphins do at seven to fifteen Eastern.

Speaker 1 (36:43):
Those are four if there's ever going to be a
game with a staggered start Monday night football. Bengals with
No Burrow, the Jets with Justin Fields. I'm good. Those
are two that like, Yeah, it's on the background.

Speaker 8 (36:57):
They should put him on the Oat Show if they can.
And because they're doing the dual networks like some ones
on ABC, ones on ESPN, throw it on THEO, take
off corn Hole, and the Wiffleball All Star Game that
that has aired all the time.

Speaker 1 (37:15):
Paddleball people are trying to say paddle is gonna be
bigger than pickle. I don't think a paddle'll be better
than pickle.

Speaker 8 (37:19):
What's paddleball?

Speaker 1 (37:21):
Uh, it's like the beach. No, no, that it has
it has like uh, it has like glass in the
at the at the end of the court so you
can play it off the wall. So it's got a
little little highlight little.

Speaker 8 (37:34):
Racquetball almost like squash.

Speaker 1 (37:36):
But it's got too to pickle.

Speaker 8 (37:37):
Yes, yes, it's no, it's racketball.

Speaker 1 (37:40):
Racquetballs a lot of racquetball highlight meets pickleball. Okay, supposedly
it's the thing. I like a little pickle.

Speaker 8 (37:48):
I like a little racquetball ball. I haven't played it
in years.

Speaker 1 (37:51):
What we're talking about bracketball is awesome.

Speaker 9 (37:53):
Racketball and squash are similar, but paddle ball is like
a little no back.

Speaker 1 (37:57):
There was a good period of time there, my dad
in his forties. It's a nationally ranked racquetball player.

Speaker 3 (38:01):
Wow is it still?

Speaker 8 (38:03):
Is it still as popular?

Speaker 7 (38:04):
No?

Speaker 8 (38:05):
Okay, because I've.

Speaker 1 (38:06):
Never heard anybody go, hey, what do you do like?
I play racketball?

Speaker 7 (38:08):
No?

Speaker 8 (38:08):
What I felt like there was this time maybe like
twenty years ago.

Speaker 9 (38:12):
Eighties corporate businessman Gordy squash and forty years ago I played.

Speaker 8 (38:19):
I played twenty years ago. That's all Seahawks and Cardinals tonight.
Zach Sharboney expected to play tonight despite being questionable with
a foot injury. Both teams two and one.

Speaker 1 (38:30):
Like I like the Hawks on the road in Glendale.
Who do you like their Dan.

Speaker 8 (38:33):
B Gosh, I'm going with the Seahawks, I am. I
do think. I think their defense is the best unit
of the four that we've got on the field, but
they may not be the best looking. Tonight. It's a
rivalry game, so the the rivalry uniforms are revealed. However,
if you look at Dan Bayer on Fox, I give
credit where credit is due. The Cardinals unveiled their playing

(38:53):
surface for tonight, Doug, A sun I think it's a
sun rise or a sunset in the end zone. I'm
not sure what exactly it is, but it is magnificent.
Field should be looking good tonight, even if the uniforms
don't fancy your eye. And that's the press.

Speaker 3 (39:12):
Now get out there and pressed. That was the press.

Speaker 1 (39:15):
That's the state of Arizona flag I believe, which is
in the end zones tonight, just because I'm looking at
your thing on Fox. That's the state of Arizona flag. Okay,
we'll watch Thursday Night football. Will make grandiose statements because
it's the only time we're going to watch the Cardinals
all year. That's tomorrow on the Doug Gottlieb Show, Fox
Sport Radio
