Speaker 2 (00:18):
Scottie Scheffler was in jail today, and we're not talking
about behind a tree and having the chip out backwards
back onto the fairway, literally in jail, and he's still
in contention at the PGA Champion Chip. Welcome in. We
are broadcasting live from the Tireck dot Com studios tyrack
dot com. We'll help you get there in unmatched selection,
fast free shipping, free road has a protection and over
(00:39):
ten thousand recommended installers. Tirec dot Com the way tire
buying should be. And you will not believe what Scotti
Scheffler was doing when he was in a jail cell
earlier this morning. We're gonna hear from the world number one,
the two time masters Champ, the defending Master's Champ, and
the guy who still has the chance to win the
Grand Slam in twenty twenty four. We are going to
(00:59):
hear from him in a bit also, in twenty five
minutes or so, Ryan Hollins, we are gonna put you
to the test and how well you know your career?
Are you ready for that?
Speaker 3 (01:11):
Oh? Gosh, yeah, really Dan.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
Yes, yes, how well does Ryan Hollins know? Ryan Hollins?
It's a game we're gonna call is Ryan Lyon. That's
what we are going to do in about twenty five
minutes or so. And it may it's it may be
more of a memory game for you, but you can
play along at home. But that's gonna come up in
about twenty five minutes. It's gonna be fun, trust me,
(01:35):
there will be. There will be nothing to worry about.
Speaker 3 (01:37):
Ryann for you, fun for me.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
I think it's gonna be fun for everyone. Jason Stewart
nodding in approval.
Speaker 3 (01:44):
You know, Jason's gonna have fun.
Speaker 2 (01:45):
Isaac low and Crown, I know is putting it all together.
His evil his evil master planned that again. Coming up
near the bottom of the hour, we do want to
dive into Caitlin Clark's nine point performance last night as
the fever fell to the New York Liberty and the
WNBA and really again, the Caitlin Clark conversation just never ends,
(02:07):
even once he only has nine points. We'll get to
that in a second, but we do have to start
out with the story of the day. You heard Isaac
Loncron and if you didn't, Scotti Scheffler's nine under par
at the PGA Championship, currently in a tie for third
and currently two shots back of the lead. He shot
sixty six today. That's a round of five under par.
His day started by getting booked in jail after he
(02:29):
was brought in for not following the commands of a
police officer and allegedly dragging that police officer a short
distance in his car. After Scheffler didn't obey the commands
of an officer during a traffic backup after a person
was killed earlier today a pedestrian struck by a shuttle bus,
so traffic was backed up at Valhalla, long lines of
(02:51):
traffic to get into the golf course. Scheffler, Well, I'll
tell you what. Let's hear from Scotty Scheffler and what
he went through the this morning and how this all started.
Speaker 4 (03:02):
It's just a huge misunderstanding this morning that that'll get resolved, I.
Speaker 3 (03:05):
Think fairly quickly.
Speaker 4 (03:06):
And yeah, I mean I came here for a golf
urnam and I was I was driving in this morning,
trying to get to my warm up time and get
ready for the round of golf. You know, I didn't
really have an understanding of what had transpired this morning.
And you know, my main focus after, you know, getting arrested,
was you know, wondering if I could be able to
come back out here and play, and you know, fortunately
I was able to do that. And yeah, it was
(03:28):
nice to put together a solid, a solid round today.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
So that was Scottie Scheffler. He did start out his
press conference mentioning the uh the person who passed away,
and giving his condolences to the family. Scheffler explaining, when
you hear that, Ryan Hollins, are you are you good
with Scotty Scheffler? Does does that change anything with how
you feel? I know that you were skeptical on why
(03:52):
a cop car may need to put them sell or
a police officer may need to put themselves attached to
the vehicle that Scotty Scheffler was driving. Are you fine
with what Scotti Schaffler's said on that piece?
Speaker 3 (04:02):
It's it's everything, because if they're a moment where he says,
you know, my rights were violated. I was yanked out
of a He may have a case to say that,
but the fact that he realized the main point in
all of this and we weren't there, we're assuming. Let's
(04:23):
assume right now the urgency from the policeman is because
somebody passed away, and I hope that they were adult
enough to have that conversation. And it sounds like at
some point it was that's what this is about. There's
someone who didn't make it out today, and that's what's important.
(04:45):
That's what was addressed. And I love that he said,
we'll figure out the rest of this stuff later. We'll
figure it out later. So hats off. That's the way
you handle it. That's the mature way. And we have
seen people unfortunately handle situations like this wrong and point
of finger, Hey I was violated. I was, and worry
(05:05):
about all of the wrong things, So hats off to him.
Emotions fly high, especially in a sport and you know,
day of competition, so I just I absolutely love the
way that he responded. Here.
Speaker 2 (05:21):
Let's hear more from Scotty Scheffler and talking about what
he went through this morning.
Speaker 3 (05:26):
I mean, they're really kind.
Speaker 4 (05:27):
I'm grateful to have I'm grateful that we have, you know,
such strong police and you know there are protectors out there,
and you know, like I said, we just got into
a chaotic situation this morning. That's really all it was.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
Again, playing it correctly, this doesn't move me off my
point of if an officer tells you to stop, you
have to stop. And if you didn't understand the officers commands,
that's on you and not on him or her gets
on you as the person, and ignorance in being naive
is not an excuse in these situations. So for how
(06:00):
this all started in that scenario, I again I did
nothing that Scotti Scheffler has said has made me change
my thoughts on how this could have been avoided. I
do think that Scotty Scheffler is handling this remarkably well.
And here's more of what he said this morning about
just actually what happened when he got to jail and
so forth.
Speaker 4 (06:20):
I was just so confused at what was happening at
the time that you know, I didn't know what time
it was, I didn't know what was going on. But
when I was sitting in like the holding cell or
whatever I was. There was a TV there and I
could see myself on the TV on ESPN, and it
was Get Up was on, and so in the corner
it showed the time and they said they were delayed,
and I was kind of thinking about my tea time.
I was like, well, maybe you know, I could be
(06:40):
able to get out. You know, the officers downstairs and
you know, they were they were discussing how long it
was going to take me to get released. You know,
obviously we have to go through all the due process
and everything. And you know, I was able to kind
of see a bit of the TV, and you know,
then I laid down and then I started to stretch
a little bit, once I got my heart rate down
a little bit.
Speaker 2 (06:56):
Good to know that the TV's and the Louisville Jail
are at least on the important stuff. Get Up the
show on. Yes, maybe they're just I mean, sure, you know,
the the tournaments in town. They're gonna be broadcasting the tournament.
I get that. But I'll tell you I got I
got a ticket about a decade ago, just outside of
(07:16):
of work. Here. I'm not trying to compare my situation
to stall. No, I'm just all I'm gonna say is
all I'm gonna say is this is I did not
do anything wrong, but I still got a ticket and
there was nothing that I could say to the officer
to change his mind. It bothered me for days. It
bothered me for days. And for him to have this
(07:40):
perspective to be able to move on from that, I've
always I've always been enaborn with guys who just have
tons of speeding tickets because it just doesn't bother them.
They just pay the fine. And I'm like, how does
that work? How do you how do you not care?
Like don't you have that bit of anxiety in your
stomach when you see the lights behind your car? Like
(08:01):
I mean, that's that's the part. Ryan Hollins said, you know,
Scotty Scheffler was just booked, had his picture taken in
an orange jumpsuit, by the way, which is crazy enough
just the visual of seeing that. But for him to
put this round together and then put that into that
perspective in that way something I would not be able
to do.
Speaker 3 (08:21):
Maybe he felt like, you know, I'm assuming here it
was a misunderstanding. It's it's an important deal, but it's
not like a make or break deal, and you know, hey,
I should be able to get out of here. But
I think you know, as a great athlete, those guys
(08:42):
know how to perform under pressure. And the reason I
love sports, especially like you know, for the kids, is
because you get put in high pressure situations and in
those high pressure situations, you know how to react. It's
the reason why the Michael Jordan's are great, the Kobe Bryant,
(09:06):
the Tiger Woods, the Tom Brady's. When those guys get
under pressure, they perform. And we're seeing this from Scheffler.
Speaker 2 (09:15):
It's crazy. Chris profetso technical producer. You wanted to get
in on the bubble guts on getting a ticket or what? Yeah,
I ended up.
Speaker 5 (09:24):
I think I rolled through a stop sign one time,
and not only did I think about it for a while,
but like to your point about I don't understand people
who just keep getting tickets. But then my insurance went
like way up.
Speaker 2 (09:36):
And then at every stop sign you stop at is
for three seconds. Yeah, no's California stop.
Speaker 3 (09:41):
What's way up? What's what's way up? Mean? Give me
a number?
Speaker 2 (09:44):
What's way from about?
Speaker 5 (09:46):
Like here in California Let's say I think the monthly
was like one hundred and seventy before.
Speaker 2 (09:51):
Now I'm paying about three hundred a month. Wow, oh
oh gosh for a rolling Yeah, one ticket on my record.
Speaker 5 (10:02):
That's enough for all the insurance companies to be like, no,
you're going up to the next team. I'm clean otherwise,
completely clean.
Speaker 3 (10:08):
Otherwise, no scotty stuff. Do we need to find you
better insurance?
Speaker 5 (10:11):
I mean this, cot I literally shopped around to like
avoid this, and everyone told me the same.
Speaker 2 (10:17):
Scotty Scheffler has two things that we don't have, though,
is we don't have the people that will be behind him.
And let's be frank, the money. Yeah, that's the like,
that's that. That is also the the other factor in
all of this, which.
Speaker 3 (10:32):
Is so you're saying that's why he wasn't worried the money.
That's why he sat in jail in the jumpsuit.
Speaker 2 (10:39):
I'm saying that's why he can maybe talk a little
easier about it now than then because of that worry.
I'm sure as soon as Chris Purfett got that ticket,
he thought, my goodness, what is going to happen? What
are my insurance rates going to be? What kind of fine,
am I going to have to pay? And those are
(10:59):
and that's why that's I'm the I'm this, I'm the
same way. I'm the exact same way. So I can
never understand why I got a budget speeding and barking tickets, Like,
how in the world does that not eat at you?
Not only like having them and maybe not even paying
them or whatever people have done. Maybe they have paid
him and just don't care, but just the fact of
being being pulled over. I just I don't get it,
(11:20):
Isaac long Crew.
Speaker 6 (11:21):
Well Dan on that point, we have a colleague in
our line of work whose name I won't mention, but
you know, his name is so distinctive everybody would get
it immediately.
Speaker 3 (11:33):
Is it Bob Marker?
Speaker 6 (11:36):
Unfortunately no, But he drives in the carpool lane by
himself all the time, and he plays the percentages and
he if he gets a ticket, he's totally cool with it.
So we got it, Mason myth don't believe it or not,
And I better quit while I'm while I'm ahead. But yeah,
he is totally not bothered by the time. Maybe it's
(11:58):
you know what, maybe it's two workers and colleagues.
Speaker 2 (12:02):
Oh gosh, oh, great. Yeah, you know, my mom got
a ticket. My mom got a ticket speeding in our hometown.
She just wasn't realizing in her The way that she
put it was I probably should have gotten a ticket before.
(12:23):
Uh you know, it was for all the other times
that I maybe should have but or at the times
she didn't feel that she was speeding, but she got
a ticket anyway. She said, count that up. Chalk that
up to all the other times that I probably was.
I thought that was a very positive way of thinking
about it.
Speaker 3 (12:37):
Such a mom thinks, you dude.
Speaker 2 (12:39):
But but there's no way that I can think like that.
Speaker 3 (12:41):
Old on, Dan, you could get away with nothing growing up,
if that's how your mom thinks. I can hear the
speeches you know what, Dan, No, you deserve this, you deserve.
Speaker 2 (12:53):
I thought, you know what, that actually could could ease
my worries, but it bothered me for days. So to
hear Scheffler talk about that which had to be by
the way to be the world number one, to be
in handcuffs, and then going the other way of the
traffic that is backed up for miles. I don't know
if they they probably didn't know that Scotty Scheffler was
in the back seat of that car. But but yeah,
(13:15):
I mean to be able to handle. Did we did
we play the Scheffler or the back seat? What the
cop was saying? The point is is Scheffler also said
that the officer that took him in, uh was was
great and kind of help him calm down. He had
a great safe car. That guy didn't have pants on,
so he couldn't drive Scheffler in it. It's true, It's true.
(13:39):
They a different officer pants. Did they get caught in
the door? That they were ripped? There was eighty dollars.
It was a total loss.
Speaker 3 (13:49):
They were ripped or they came off.
Speaker 2 (13:50):
They were they were they were damaged beyond repair. I'll
give you fishal I honestly.
Speaker 3 (13:57):
What does that mean?
Speaker 2 (13:58):
You could probably search eighty dollars pants in Twitter? Yes,
here it is. Yeah, I just searched it there. It
was the uh. This was This was from the police
report from the Louisville Police Department. Detective Gillis's uniform pants,
valued at approximately eighty dollars, were damaged beyond repair. That
(14:21):
is that was that was put into the.
Speaker 3 (14:24):
You are you are a man of the people. You
are unbelievable you know that right.
Speaker 2 (14:29):
Now, this is this is included in the police report.
But so he would not have taken He also had
a wrist and knee injury because of the incident, and
so another I'm sure you know obviously.
Speaker 3 (14:42):
That's not you know, we're not left at we're laughing
at the pants.
Speaker 2 (14:45):
Yes, yeah, absolutely.
Speaker 3 (14:46):
At least I'm like, Now, Dan, I can't speak for you.
Speaker 2 (14:50):
It's well, just the you know, the eighty dollars pants.
It must be you know, pretty nice pair of pants, right,
I mean, jeez, yeah, yeah, yeah, a nice pair of
doctors and and there were people who were pointing out
on social media that you're wearing a yellow a yellow
vest or you know, yellow jacket. How could you tell
if it was a police officer or not. Again, they're
wearing a yellow jacket to be seen, but also to
(15:11):
direct you and to.
Speaker 3 (15:13):
Wait wait wait wait, wait, wait wait wait. They weren't
wearing like police outfits.
Speaker 2 (15:17):
Well it was. It was because it was dark, so
they were wearing I mean, his pants were navy, but
they were wearing a yellow vest jacket.
Speaker 3 (15:27):
So they didn't They just looked like traffic guys. They
didn't look like.
Speaker 2 (15:31):
It doesn't matter doesn't matter.
Speaker 3 (15:37):
This matters. Were these guys, the.
Speaker 2 (15:39):
Volunteer that's trying to organize chaos in a concert parking
lot should not be listened to, Like that's what they're
there for.
Speaker 3 (15:46):
That's what you well, you know, I'm not saying you
shouldn't be listened to, but you don't think you're going
to the slammer for not listening.
Speaker 2 (15:52):
Again, that's where the where ignorance is not an excuse
on Scottie Scheffler's part.
Speaker 3 (15:58):
People, Dane, you're listen. I see Mama Bayer speaking through
you right now, and your your your diligence. You're not
gonna give the same respect to the you know, the
you know, the if it's not a shop, you should
he didn't think it was a copy you should have you.
Speaker 2 (16:18):
Should give more respect to them because they're not getting
paid as much and they're there. That's that should be
the deal. They're they're probably working for, you know, not
even not even close to what what an officer gets,
obviously and doing it on a part time work without
the security of a pension or insurance or anything else.
But we're gonna we're gonna just not care what they
(16:38):
say and do what we want to do.
Speaker 3 (16:41):
I'm not saying to do that. I'm saying maybe because
of that, he didn't think it was as serious. But
clearly it was Dan. And I'm not I'm not challenging
that Dan.
Speaker 2 (16:52):
I just I think, Hey, that doesn't matter. You gotta
gotta listen.
Speaker 3 (16:56):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (16:56):
Fortunately for Scotti Scheffler, he disobeyed a police officer.
Speaker 3 (17:00):
But if this was a thing where Scotty was playing
the percentages, but he was, he was just speeding by
the volunteers at every single event, and this time he
played the percentages wrong.
Speaker 2 (17:11):
And that who said played the percentages?
Speaker 3 (17:14):
Was that?
Speaker 2 (17:15):
Wait? That was that was Jason? That was that was him? Well,
then guess what came up? Snake eyes. It's gonna bite you.
It's gonna bite you for that. That was the that
was the that was the person or was that the Isaac?
Who was was it Isaac or Jason? Who had the car?
Was at the carpool lane. Here's the Isaac that had.
Speaker 3 (17:33):
That Isaac's leaping you hanging right.
Speaker 2 (17:34):
Now right now, everybody's doing work. Well, I'm glad we
got to hear from Scotty Shuffler. All Right, the uh uh,
it'll it'll this By the way, this story in that
mugshot will hang around for for a long time. But man,
was it chaotic this morning with all of this, Like
we heard the Jeff Darlington report and again someone's life
(17:57):
was lost, which is so so on for fortunate and
the chaos that ensued after that. This story will will
not go away. Whoever wins this will obviously be the
champion of this PGA Championship. This will probably be the
second thing that you remember from it was Remember what
happened to Scotty Scheffler that Friday morning before the second round?
(18:18):
There's no doubt about that. All right, he's Ryan allins.
I'm sorry, go ahead and have the last word.
Speaker 3 (18:22):
If Scotty wins this, are you going to be happy
for him?
Speaker 2 (18:25):
Yes? I true believe he's a good guy. I just
think that he made a mistake and everybody people make mistakes,
and so he made a mistake and there should be
a punishment for it. And that's how I feel. I
think he is a great guy. I actually think at
times when we say you don't know the real person,
I actually think we do know who Scotty Scheffler is.
(18:45):
You know, the golfers are like if you're outside of
Tiger Woods and maybe Rory McElroy. You know, they can
go into grocery stores and it's not a big deal.
You're not like, hey, that's professional golfer, so and so
that doesn't happen. I think with a Dan other sport baseball, football, basketball, hockey,
I think you know, like, all right, that guy's an athlete.
(19:06):
But I think that golfers blend in. They're pretty normal.
I feel like we kind of know who Scotty Shuffler is.
Speaker 3 (19:11):
Dan, you're telling me you never rolled a stop sign.
Speaker 2 (19:15):
Hey, maybe once or twice, and hey, if I do
get busted, someday, it'll be for all the time.
Speaker 3 (19:23):
Someday it's a thing. There you go, Dan, He's Ryan Allins.
Speaker 2 (19:28):
I'm Dan Byer in for Doug Gottlieb as we are
live from the Tirak dot Com studios. Is Ryan Lyon
is coming up? Plus we do have to dive in
from the nine points that Caitlin Clark scored last night
in a loss by the Indiana Fever. That and so
much more. He's Ryan, I'm Dan in for Dog That's
next here on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 7 (19:45):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at Foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app. Search FSR to
listen live.
Speaker 2 (19:59):
Doug gottlieb Oh on Fox Sports Radio. I'm Dan Byer.
He's the ten year NBA vet Ryan Holland sitting in
for Doug today again. Ryan's at our Tirec dot Com
studios in Houston. Thoughts in going out to everybody who's
been affected by the storms. I believe that the so
far four fatalities, so our thoughts go out to the
families of those. Glad to hear everything around Ryan is okay.
(20:21):
I am Dan Byer at our Fox Sports Radio Tirec
dot Com studios in southern California. Last night in Indianapolis,
Ryan the New York Liberty took it to the Indiana
Fever final score one oh two. The sixty six Brianna
Stewart thirty one points, ten rebounds, Caitlyn Clark nine points,
seven rebounds, six assists, and three turnovers. So the Fever
(20:42):
are zero and two. Not that that's unexpected, but Clark
held to a single digit scoring game for the first
time since she was a freshman in college. The the
Caitlin Clark attention is not is not died down so
far in the first week of the WNBA season. But
how surprised are you that Caitlyn Clark had a single
(21:04):
digit scoring performance last night against one of the WNBA's
best teams.
Speaker 3 (21:09):
Well, very surprised because you know, you're not looking at
Caitlyn Clark and she's a rookie. It it will take
some times, but for the women's side, they can come
out and have an immediate impact. They can immediately affect
the game, where on the NBA side, the guys get
drafted after one year, they're one and done, and there's
(21:32):
there's still a level of potential potential there. Okay, so
the male equivalent, at least popularity wise, fair to say
what Victor winbin Yama, the hype, the headlines, the social media,
the highlights, that's that's what you see. And when you're
taking a look at Caitlyn Clark, she was poised to
come out and be ready to roll. So I'm not
(21:55):
saying the jury's out. I'm not saying she's a bust.
I'm not doing that. But the understanding was be that
she'd be more Keep in mind the fever they had
the number one pick for the reason their worst team
in the in the league. So we'll keep an eye
on this situation and we'll see how she progresses. But
again for the women, they are poised to have, you know,
vsy immediate impacts.
Speaker 2 (22:14):
I am not making excuses. No, I'm just no, I'm
gonna say no. I'm just this is for myself. This
is not about this, not about Caitlin Clark. I did
not see last night's game. I did not see it.
It was on Amazon Prime. Jason Stewart did, though, Jason Stewart,
how much of the game did you watch last night?
Speaker 8 (22:34):
I watched every single minute of it. I'm very interested
to see how she does on this level, and I
think it's gonna make great radio content. So I was
sure to watch it and like it. They made it
pretty clear. I don't know if y'all watched it, Ryan,
but it was pretty clear in that second half that
the other team, and I forget what their name is,
(22:55):
the Liberty, I don't really care, they were they were poor.
It on like this just wasn't a game that they
were out to win and get off to a good
start of this season. It's this is a Caitlin Clark game,
and we're gonna show Kitlin Clark what playing as a
professional is about, and we're gonna rub your nose in it.
And it was it was uncomfortable to watch how badly
(23:18):
slaughtered the fever Wirl last night. And I think Kitlin
Clark is in for that every single night she plays,
which is like the ultimate dichotomy to me. And this
really interests me, and I'd like to get your thoughts, Ryan, Like,
the league really needs her to work, and not just work,
but be an outrageous success that she was in college.
(23:41):
They have banked on it. Literally, they have bet on
the come. They have spent twenty five million bucks a
year on these charter fights, expecting revenue income. If this
fails or if she's just average, that's bad for the WNBA.
But every single night you have professionals that seem to
resent her and are going to put it in her face.
(24:03):
That seems to work against what the goal is here,
which is the success of the WNBA.
Speaker 3 (24:10):
Hey man, if she can't play, she can't play. And
I'm not saying that she can't play, play and be
the player and live up to expectations. There's a difference.
She's a baller for some of the fellas who are listening,
you go down to that twenty four hour fitness and
give you that work, all right, make no mistake there.
But if she's not the player that she's expected to be,
(24:31):
as we speak about the Victor w Wembyama's, we even
think about a Lebron hype wise, she's in that Lebron
hype conversation. I don't believe she's Lebron, but as far
as hype, as far as someone who's putting the face
of the league on their back, Jason, you're saying that correctly. Ay,
it is what it is. I think it's great because
we've spoken about the women's game in detail and the
(24:53):
length that we haven't and it's just and hopefully there
may be the next one up. I don't think that
Caitlyn's going to live to their heart to the hype,
forgive me, but I think what Caitlyn's gonna do and
and mark my words, remember when I'm saying this, and
and y'all don't have to like what I'm saying or not.
I think when Juju gets her chance, and when Juju's
(25:14):
in a w Juju's gonna cook and live up to
that hype. But it's the expectation that Caitlyn's gonna build
and Rees is gonna build that is going to allow
Juju to take the reins and run with it. I
think Juju's the one. I think she's was the best
player in college this year, even with the things that
Caitlyn achieved, and you know, hey, I don't want to
(25:34):
take anything away from her, but I'm just I'm a
I'm a big believer in Juju's game.
Speaker 2 (25:40):
We're two games into the season and and I think
to to counter to counteract what Jason was saying, or
to make a counterpoint on it, you can't dumb down
the w NBA. Everybody would see that if you're if
you're making it easier for Caitlyn Clark, then then it
wouldn't be legitimate. And then I don't think people would
care that way. But there is going to be a
(26:02):
point where I do believe that she comes through and
is a better player for it, and maybe that's what's
better for the NBA. Like the like college basketball caught
this lightning bolt over the last two years, maybe the
last year and a half because of what Caitlin Clark
was doing took us a while to really fully like
embrace it, because that's the player that she was even
(26:23):
her freshman year, like there were still talk about it.
But to then think that this this, you know, this
meteor is just going to continue to burn right through
the w NBA, which is maybe what Diana Tarrossi was saying,
and people like me didn't want to necessarily hear it.
I do think that when Caitlyn c Caitlyn Clark comes
(26:43):
out on the other side, that she will be a
better player and it will be better for the WNBA.
She will these the roadblocks that she has found in
her first two games will be roadblocks no more. In
the integrity of the game will still be there.
Speaker 3 (26:58):
I think she's done her job. And hats off to
Caitlyn Clark. We're putting this pressure on her. She's not
coming out saying that she's the greatest ever and she's
said he she's this. We have not done that. Now.
When Lebron came out, it was witnessed this and shoes
here and pull up to the game and a hummer
(27:19):
and speaking of himself and the third person, and Lebron
has lived up and exceeded the hype. Make no mistake. Okay.
And when we're only comparing the two in terms of hype,
we're speaking the hype. We're speaking in terms of somebody
a player that Jason brought up, that you're going to
put the future, the future on the of the league
(27:39):
on their backs. Okay. So Caitlyn didn't ask for that.
She she didn't, She didn't want to be that, but
unfortunately she is. And you know what, I hope they
keep investing even more money into our ladies and give
them more and more opportunities and keep supporting them. Man.
But again, she didn't ask for this. Man, she's a
class act and she's easy to cheer for and hoop for.
(28:01):
And I don't think she's a hype, but there's no
problem with it if it gets you know, you guys
to come and watch the game and for me, check
out the highlights and see those things. Support the ladies. Man.
Speaker 2 (28:12):
Is Ryan Lyon? Not right now and maybe in a
few seconds he's Ryan Hollins. I'm Dan Byer. Isaac's gonna
stick around because he's not missing. Is Ryan Lyon? The
ray that this game started up was because earlier this
week the NFL had their schedule release and the Rams
the way that they did it used Sean mcvay's magnificent
(28:36):
memory to reveal their schedule. This was Sean McVay doing
what Sean McVay does. Earlier this week. It was a
heck of a play, full way out on Kyler Murray
against the Cardinals and a picture of it.
Speaker 5 (28:48):
I still got to get him to sign that one.
Speaker 2 (28:50):
In the twenty twenty one NFC Championship, Cooper Cup had
an extremely rare emotive reaction to his catch.
Speaker 6 (28:57):
What play call led to that grap good.
Speaker 3 (28:59):
Old fashioned always form.
Speaker 5 (29:00):
It was f motus south left clamp minus three, jit
f choice stucco home man pressure, what a throw and catch?
Speaker 2 (29:07):
I mean fit it in in a tight window. You
gotta get the void, Sean McVay, And he's done this before.
It remembers the play, what happened, what the situation was,
in so many random plays in his career. We want
to know how much Ryan Hollins remembers from his career
as a player, Ryan Hollins, Are you ready for?
Speaker 3 (29:26):
Is?
Speaker 2 (29:27):
Ryan Lyon?
Speaker 3 (29:29):
I'm as ready as I'll ever be.
Speaker 7 (29:30):
Man.
Speaker 2 (29:30):
Let's roll, all right, A couple of rounds here myself
Jason Stewart. Isaac Lohankron will be feeding you questions about
your career, and let's see if you know the answers
to them, just like Sean McVay did. I'll start it
out all right. In twenty ten, you were traded to
the Calves with Ramone Sessions. What two players the Celtics
get in return as part of that trade?
Speaker 3 (29:53):
I wasn't traded to the Celtics.
Speaker 2 (29:55):
What your Wikipedia page said? Now?
Speaker 6 (29:57):
Who the Calves got in return?
Speaker 3 (29:58):
Well?
Speaker 2 (29:58):
Who the Calves got in return? Sorry?
Speaker 3 (30:01):
The Cavaliers? Uh no, no, no, no, it was minutes minute?
Speaker 2 (30:06):
Yeah no, no, no, they were traded into the Calves.
Speaker 3 (30:09):
Yea, yeah, it was Delante West and I don't I
just remember Delance West. I don't remember another player.
Speaker 2 (30:20):
It was Sebastian Telfair.
Speaker 3 (30:23):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (30:24):
He also it was a part of that deal, a
second round pack. The pick you and Sessions go from
the Celtic from the Cavaliers. Actually, I'm sorry, this is wrong.
It was to the Timberwolves of the Cavaliers. Was that?
Speaker 3 (30:36):
To look at you, I'll admit it.
Speaker 2 (30:40):
Was straight from the Wikipedia. I'm sorry. That was that was?
Speaker 3 (30:44):
That was?
Speaker 2 (30:45):
That was? That was my bad? Hey, my bad, My
bad on that one. Hey, Ryan, I want to go
back to your college years. Maybe a lot of our
listeners don't even know this, but you know, Ryan Hollins
played the National Championship game. I was there.
Speaker 8 (31:02):
He played Florida. I was there too, April third, two
thousand and six. Ryan Hollins, who is the only player
in that game on both sides to have a double double.
Speaker 3 (31:16):
I'm ten points in rebounds. Ryan Hollins nailed it.
Speaker 8 (31:20):
Yeah, all right, all right, you think you're pretty impressive
by the way you have. You have what at least
ten NBA ors in that game.
Speaker 6 (31:29):
Well, yeah, run yeah, not Horford Hollins.
Speaker 3 (31:34):
Baby, that's right. You have Maurice Spates like on the
bench and they were stacked.
Speaker 2 (31:40):
All right, you think you're hot stuff.
Speaker 6 (31:41):
You're two for two so far.
Speaker 7 (31:43):
Ryan.
Speaker 6 (31:44):
Back in high school, you waited three hours at a
mall to get assigned Kobe Bryant basketball. What was the
name of.
Speaker 3 (31:54):
The mall, Glendell Galleria, damn it with my father and
and and bless my father, bless his soul. So I
waited three hours in the line and Kobe takes off.
We get all the way up there, Kobe takes off.
My dad pulls money out that he didn't have, and
(32:16):
we bought that basketball. I got the basketball here today,
still with me, don't have my father with me, but
the memory last forever Fellas.
Speaker 2 (32:23):
That's amazing. We got a couple of more. We're gonna
do it on the other side. Plus, uh, we we
gotta put a we gotta put a bow on a
crazy week that was on The Doug Gottlieb Show. And
guess what it wasn't a misunderstanding. I'm the one that
botched the question at first. Yes, that's ability for Ryan's
botched question and not writing the timberwows.
Speaker 3 (32:44):
Yo, Joe Jason, I'm like the dude just said win.
Wikipedia is wrong.
Speaker 2 (32:48):
I trust Wikipedia. It was fully Dan Bayer's mistake. All right.
Ryan hasn't been lyon. He is Ryan Hollins. Find him
at the Ryan Hollins. You can find me at Dan
Byer on Fox. Yeah. We wrap up this week next year.
Speaker 9 (33:05):
Media on Fox Sports Radio, be sure to catch the
live edition of The Doug Gottlieb Show weekdays at three
pm Eastern noon Pacific on Fox Sports Radio in the
iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 2 (33:19):
Doug Gottlieb Show on Fox Sports Radio. He's Ryan Hollins.
I'm Dan Byer, sitting in for dougas we're a live
forth Tirech dot Com Studios. Ryan Holland's perfect so far
in the game of his Ryan Lyon remembering all the
facts from his history. I unfortunately am not perfect because
I messed up the question. But hey, we got a
second my first question. Chance for me to redeem myself.
(33:40):
Isaac glowincronis here. Jason Stewart's here. Ryan. We are feeding
you questions just like Sean McVeagh knows every play the
Rams ever had or he called in Rams history. We
are testing your knowledge of your history, and then we'll
put a bow on the end of this week. You
played on the twenty fifteen hand Am Games for USA. Correct, Correct?
(34:01):
You guys lost in the semi finals to Canada. Who
led Canada in scoring that game?
Speaker 3 (34:06):
Jim Murray?
Speaker 2 (34:08):
It was not Jamal Murray.
Speaker 3 (34:11):
It was Nichols.
Speaker 2 (34:14):
Andrew Nicholson. Yes, Andrew Nicholson led the Canadians in scoring,
and I think they lost to Brazil then in the
championship game. But you guys brought home the bronze. Is
Ryan Lyon, how well does Ryan Hollins know his history
like Sean McVay does. Jason Stewart, did you have another?
Speaker 8 (34:34):
Yeah, I'm getting I'm gonna go I'm gonna steal this
one from Dan because I didn't like mine. Let's go
back to two thousand and eight, two thousand and nine.
I'd love for our listeners to go back that far
as well. I think the Dark Knight came out. I
can't think of any top hits, but the eight to
nine season. Ryan Hollins, you played for what teams.
Speaker 3 (34:59):
Eight oh nine? And he tricked by saying teams, so
I would say that was Charlotte in Dallas.
Speaker 2 (35:12):
Boom. That is correct, Boom. He knows his stuff, literally,
it's his stuff because it's his life, all right. Isaac
longcron Two part question, what was your career three point
percentage at UCLA?
Speaker 6 (35:30):
That's right, I never mess second part of the question,
who was it against Arizona State?
Speaker 3 (35:38):
Top of the key, roll and replace? I was in
with Mike Fae. Me and Mike rarely played together. Mike
rolled to the ramp, I popped back. I thought I
was shooting a twenty footer, Dan, but I didn't realize
both feet were behind the line was the three let
it rip, big fellow, let it rip.
Speaker 2 (35:54):
I love it absolutely, great questions, Isaac and Jason, theirs
weren't messed up like mine? Or great job, Ryan Hollins,
and remembering your career, Thank you, thank you. Doug Gottlieb
changed his career this week. All right, you're a hooper,
Ryan Hollins. He's now the men's basketball coach at Green
Bay and is going to continue to do the Doug
(36:16):
Gottlieb Show in this timeslot right here on Fox Sports Radio. Doug,
i would say, has gotten a lot of criticism, unwarranted
criticism over these last couple of days, for basically chasing
his dream. And if the parties at B will allow
him to chase his dream, more power to him. I
find it crazy that JJ Reddick is about to lead
(36:39):
the Los Angeles Lakers, or as a candidate to lead
the Los Angeles Lakers, the most storied franchise in the NBA,
most popular franchise in the NBA, with possibly the greatest
of all time player, and no one is batting an eye.
It was great to hear Mark Stein say that actually
some people are batting eyes. As Stein joined us earlier today,
on the Doug Gottlieb Show. This was Mark Stein earlier
(37:04):
today when he joined us and asked him about the
JJ Reddick to the Lakers scenario, I.
Speaker 10 (37:10):
Would say, around the league, like you know, basically the
whole NBA was in Chicago this week at.
Speaker 2 (37:14):
The pre draft camp.
Speaker 10 (37:15):
There is a lot of curiosity and you outright skepticism
about how do you put a first time coach, someone
who has never coached anything beyond youth basketball, how do
you put JJ Reddick in probably the hottest feat in
certainly it's the most scrutinized coaching feat in the NBA
(37:37):
and you know around the world. I mean, it would
be a very short list of head coach slash manager
positions that you would say come with the pressure, expectation
and scrutiny that coaching the Lakers does.
Speaker 2 (37:50):
Doug's a big boy. Doug can fight for himself. He
doesn't need me to make a case for him. I mean,
he never asked me to make a case for him.
I'm just saying this. Doug Gottlieb has been around the
game for his entire life. He knows the top coaches
in basketball. Heck, the first week here, Ryan Hollins that
I got to know Doug, or at least that first summer.
Excuse me, he went and spent a week with Bill Salfa, Kansas,
(38:11):
still did the radio show, learn like he has got
a basketball mind. All I'm saying is this is if
you want to hate on Doug, fine, that's fine. Doug's
used to it. He's a big boy, he can handle it.
Use that same energy as well when we're talking about
this scenario, because to me, that is far more blasphemous
than anything that Doug Gottlieb has done this week. There's
my piece, Ryan Holland.
Speaker 3 (38:31):
Yeah, well, here's the thing with JJ where the questions comes.
We've seen this from Steve Kerr, but he and Lebron
having a podcast together which is completely out of nowhere,
and then stepping in that way raise the questions to
how critical he can be of Lebron And you seemingly
(38:52):
had the question was the inexperience with Darvin Ham, Why
now do the same thing?
Speaker 2 (38:57):
And there will be questions, Hopefully I don't mess them up,
Ryan Hollins, It's been fun for Ryan Hollinds. I'm Dan
Byert's the Doug Gottlieb show on Fox Sports Radio,
