it's a Tuesday. Hope you enjoyed your holiday weekend. Oh

(00:50):
Man summers here. And we got a game? Was it
Game five tonight? Then we got we got game five,
Game five of the Game four. It's only Game four,
Game four, Game four of the Knicks and the Pacers.
But this is this is, you know again, like every game,

(01:10):
the biggest game ever ever. This is a gigantic game.
Gigantic game for the Knicks, right, because they lost the
first two at home. Obviously the first one was the
one that really jumps up and gets them because they
were they were up twenty. But then, of course the
Pacers gave away their own lead in Game three, and

(01:33):
now it's game four. I think that it's a weird one, right.
I am active, although far less active on X than
I used to be. Can I just call it Twitter?
I'll just get have been called Twitter, It's still it's Twitter.

(01:54):
Its mama, call them play. I feel like the guy
who was calling Lee Casius Clay, like, hey, I'm gonna
call them cash as claims It's always been Casius Clay
to me. And there were no religious reasons why they
changed from Twitter to X, right, they just I think
you want to unite all the companies and put it

(02:15):
all under the X right space X and X and whatever. Anyway,
I think two or three things have made Twitter jump
the shark for me. I mean the first is, hey,
guess what not everything was a hoax?

Speaker 3 (02:34):
Right?

Speaker 1 (02:34):
Not everything was a hoax. Sometimes what you think happened
actually happened. But between the President getting a bull and
his ear or planes going into the twin Towers in
nine to eleven, like I just I just can't with
Twitter anymore. Just all of a sudden, things pop it

(02:54):
up my timeline like not everything is conspiracy, bagon is
not everything is all good or all bad, like there
is no sometimes it's just is.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
And the last one is.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
And I was laughing about this because I've done a
better job of being off my phone recently, and a
good way in which I'm off my phone or off
social media is like I like to watch games on
my phone when I'm out and about or I'm doing
something or have them on. And so the first half
of Knicks Pacers, I remember what I was doing. I

(03:30):
think it was a Oh I was. I was at
a buddy's house and we were talking. We had the
game up, we had multi and I didn't have my phone.
But I look at halftime and everyone has declared nixt
season over, series over, and some New Yorkers who felt
like their lives were over, and just the immediate reaction over, Hey,

(03:52):
we just saw the Pacers come for twenty down. It's
not that crazy thing. We saw the Knicks come from
twenty down twice against the Celtics, who are a way
better team. Than the Pacers. Oh, I can't happen again anyway,
those three things have. It's not ever over, especially in
the NBA. But I'm fascinated by tonight's game because tonight

(04:12):
you do think that if the Knicks lose, do they
still have a chance. Sure, I mean, you come back,
you win at home, you put the pressure in the Pacers,
you could win game six games out, but you win
on the road. Now, all of a sudden, we got
ourselves a series, real series, and two of the games

(04:34):
in this series have been as good at basketball games
as I can remember watching in the last couple of years.
I don't want to go historically gross grims over, I'm
not going to do that, but really really interesting, unique games.
And I do think it's fascinating how the Knicks and
Tom Thibodeau doesn't like to play his bench, He plays

(04:55):
his bench just a little bit and suddenly they win
a game. Now, Haliburton's dad's gonna be back in the building.
Was he in the building the other night?

Speaker 4 (05:07):
Though?

Speaker 1 (05:09):
Is just this is the first one back in the building?

Speaker 5 (05:12):
Three games suspension, Dan, It was supposed to be indefinite
and then indefinite just ended up being he missed three
games in Indianapolis, the road games he's not that hasn't been.

Speaker 2 (05:25):
Cleared, but.

Speaker 5 (05:27):
He's going to be there tonight where he wasn't previously
allowed after the Yanna situation.

Speaker 1 (05:33):
We should call him Shooter right because he's like Shooter
from from Hoosiers. Although Shooter was hammered. Was he hammered
when he was there? Yes, yes, I'm talking about Haliburton's dad.
He was, Oh, I thought you had Dennis Hoppers. Yeah,
I like, I'm a Home's dad always hammered, like everybody knows, right,

(05:56):
That's why he's got all those us. There was that
moment's day he's.

Speaker 5 (05:59):
There was no evidence of that. It just the only
evidence was arrogance. And then we saw videos of him
at a watch party or at a different establishment watching
the game and kind of doing the same thing with
the towel that he had that had Haliburton on it,
doing his dance that he kind of did. So I
don't know how much he's really learned in these last

(06:19):
three and a half weeks, but he'll be back tonight.

Speaker 2 (06:22):
Was it a teachable lesson table lesson? Probably was.

Speaker 5 (06:26):
You don't know if anything was taught on. Neither hey,
missed the Cavs series. Okay, gladly.

Speaker 2 (06:35):
See you.

Speaker 1 (06:36):
Plus in one of them, it was well, so well,
And honestly, up until that point, did anybody did anybody
know that was Tyrese Halburton's dad. Now everybody knows it's
Tyre's Helburn's dad. Yep, Like literally, anybody like, oh, I
know that guy is Tyres Haliburn's dad. Like it's really
We're in this interesting world here right where we know

(06:59):
what Joab Morant's dad looks like, sort of like Usher, yeah,
Walmart Usher, right, And we know what Haliburton's dad looks like.
Obviously we know Steph Curry's mom and dad look like
they're on TV a bunch, but like the dad's being
front and center for everything. The LeVar balling of NBA
dads is a little bit disconcerting. It does remind me

(07:23):
very much of au something that up until a year
and two weeks ago, I was coaching, you know. And
it's interesting because none of the dads that are former players,
or most of the dads that are not poor players,
they're not like that. But the dads that didn't make
it or didn't amount too much, they are they live
easily vicariously through their kid. Okay, so do you want

(07:49):
the Knicks to win because this is a big thing,
because you know what comes with the Knicks winning, right,
They're just the fans are just obnoxious. They're obnoxious. So
do you want to see that happen? Because then Steven A.
Smith acts like, Hey, I'm the biggest Sticks fan all along,
even though he disowned the team several times over the

(08:11):
past ten years. Spike lee front and center. I don't
know if Spike's offensive to anybody, he just is. He's
just there. But all those d bags that were throwing
trash on the Pacer fan after they beat the Celtics
like it empowers them.

Speaker 5 (08:27):
It has ramped up quickly, Like there was a point
where I don't think that we actually thought it was
the serious threat or forgot what it is like. And
it became that way pretty quickly in the Boston series,
and then even a little bit more after the winning
game three. Well then it's still down to one of
the series. But we had the conversation I remember in

(08:48):
the regular season just kind of about the Knicks and
the authentic or organic celebrity fans that they have of
celebrities being true fans. But it also made me forget
what it actually really is like when the Knicks win,
because I did want the Knicks to win in Game three, Doug,
and then when it happened, then I saw the discourse
on a place like ax In thought, all right, maybe

(09:10):
I should be cheering for the Pacers as a Bucks fan.
It's very difficult to cheer for Indiana.

Speaker 1 (09:16):
I have a really weird question that again, I could
I know, I could probably wikipedia him. Who is the
Timothy shall Malay Shamela Shamela.

Speaker 2 (09:27):
Shallo May Who is that famous actor? What's he in?

Speaker 6 (09:32):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (09:32):
He was Bob Dylan. He was in Dune? Right, am? I? Right?

Speaker 4 (09:35):
Guy?

Speaker 2 (09:35):
He was in Dune.

Speaker 6 (09:37):
He's the main character in dude.

Speaker 1 (09:38):
Oh that's the guy in Dune. Yeah, okay, yeah, I've
seen him And is he like he's not very old.

Speaker 2 (09:44):
Right, no, mid twenties.

Speaker 5 (09:47):
I think that's one of the great things is there
was like a picture way back when where he was
a Knicks fan as a kid.

Speaker 1 (09:53):
So he's actually been he's actually been a Knicks fan. Yes,
I didn't know that's the guy from Dune. Okay, I
liked him.

Speaker 6 (10:01):
He's the guy who went viral. He was also the
latest Willy Wonka and he's done some stuff. He got
an Oscar nomination.

Speaker 1 (10:08):
He didn't watch the Latest Willy Wonka. The Dylan movie,
you missed that, And I didn't watch the Abob Dylan
movie either.

Speaker 6 (10:13):
He went viral during the college football season because he
showed up on game day once and he was just
talking circles around those guys. Really, he's a huge sports fan.

Speaker 2 (10:22):
Huge sports fan.

Speaker 6 (10:24):
Huh okay, there's an update. By the way, guys, don't
I know there's a dance.

Speaker 2 (10:28):
He's also dating a Jenner?

Speaker 6 (10:30):
Right, good deal?

Speaker 2 (10:32):
Ye proceeed with caution.

Speaker 1 (10:36):
I don't know. Sorry, cut you off there, Like who
else is dated Kylie Jenner? What's the what's the update?
Is this that maryly Utten update? Sounds like it, Uh
Travis Scott.

Speaker 6 (10:45):
That's Travis Scott's baby mama.

Speaker 1 (10:49):
Katie Jenner is Travis Scott's baby mama.

Speaker 6 (10:53):
There's an update on the Mary lou ruttin d u y.
I know this is usually Dan's department, but cops say that, uh,
she failed the test on the balance beam.

Speaker 5 (11:05):
Wait no, Sam gives that a laugh, But my all
around got nothing.

Speaker 2 (11:11):
I was chuckling at that.

Speaker 1 (11:14):
The mic wasn't on, Mike, wasn't. I actually think the
all around he he thought it took him a second.
You could see like it was like a seven second delay.
It's like, oh, which makes you and you didn't explain it,
which is great, which he got it.

Speaker 2 (11:29):
The balance beam is pretty funny. Well, I think you.

Speaker 1 (11:31):
I think you could have delivered it differently, like they
knew something was up when she couldn't when she couldn't
keep her balance or I don't know, it's got to
be a way to deliver that line.

Speaker 7 (11:42):
Don't walk on a straight line. You have to do
the test on a balance beam, something like that. I
don't know, but that's definitely better.

Speaker 2 (11:47):
I don't know.

Speaker 7 (11:48):
Good job, I'm just critiquing there it is it all
well done, okay, very good jokes down.

Speaker 2 (11:54):
Jokes, breaking down jokes. Sure? Was that funny?

Speaker 1 (11:58):
Was the balance beam one funny?

Speaker 2 (12:00):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (12:01):
But I thought that not as funny as yours.

Speaker 2 (12:05):
I thought, well, I.

Speaker 5 (12:06):
Think mine started that version of it like Jason's perfect
ten was great, but Sam to give the audible laugh
and then mine was just living there in silence.

Speaker 2 (12:18):
I see.

Speaker 1 (12:18):
I think he went through what Rodney Dangerfield went through
in Caddyshack right, which which he dropped. He'd delivered these lines.
He'd never done a movie before, and he didn't understand
why nobody was laughing. Like Rodney worked filming, we can't laugh.
His microphone wasn't on. I do think you got a chuckle.
It just wasn't audible because his mic was not fair enough.

Speaker 2 (12:37):
So I don't know.

Speaker 1 (12:40):
There's gotta be something with a booster seat because she's small.

Speaker 2 (12:43):
Okay, all right, there's no Bella?

Speaker 6 (12:45):
Is there Bella?

Speaker 5 (12:45):
We don't even know, like Sara Bella Coroli. She may
have been on medication. She had pneumonia a couple of
years ago. She maybe shouldn't have been driving. We don't
know all the details. You don't know if it was drinking,
we don't know. And without looking it up, well I
did look it up. Let me let me but over
under is what it was? Eighty four, so I'll go

(13:08):
sixty four. If it was nineteen sixty five, then she's
coming up on she's sixty, so I'll go with she's
fifty nine years old. It's kind of on the heels
of the game that I debuted over the Memorial Day weekend,
called in the neighborhood. So within two years, can you
get Mary lou Rettin's age? Did in neighborhood?

Speaker 2 (13:30):
Like you said? Fifty nine? Yeah? And guys, I looked.
I looked it up too. Was I am I in
the neighborhood? Yes, yes, you are. I saw fifty seven, right,
She's only fifty seven?

Speaker 6 (13:43):
Good?

Speaker 2 (13:44):
Good guess though, so she.

Speaker 1 (13:45):
Was like sixteen or something when when she Yeah, that
makes sense. I thought that used to be like eighteen
nineteen back in the day. And then that the Chinese
women were like fourteen or twelve or something pretending to
be sixteen, and then they got outed for that.

Speaker 6 (13:58):
I'm not sure the Chinese are definitely cheated. I don't
think it was an age thing. It was a steroids thing. Well,
it was both age thing too?

Speaker 2 (14:06):
Is agent? It was agent? Yes?

Speaker 1 (14:10):
Yes, there is one part about it though that like
doesn't The Olympic thing doesn't sit great with me. And
I called the Lance Armstrong thing before everybody else called
Lance Armstrong thing, and I did so because of this.
This was my thought. Either Lance Armstrong is the greatest
athlete of all time because he didn't just beat cancer.

(14:31):
He came back and he beat a bunch of dopers
to win the ultimate doping event in the Tour de France,
or he's just the best of the dopers, right, Okay,
so we would all agree that that the we believed
the Russians, the Chinese, they've all been either doping or
used something illegal four years in gymnastics. And I know

(14:54):
the Russians and the Chinese weren't at the eighty four Olympics, right,
it's a little bit of the the those gold medals
got a little bit of lakers dodgers in the bubble,
sort of sort of connotation to them. If we get
down to it, right, are we to believe that all
our gymnasts are always that much better than the gymnasts

(15:17):
that are doped up? That's my question, Like if we
if we if there's reason to believe that many gymnasts
are lying about their age and that they're using performance
dancing drugs, Are our gymnasts that are so good? Are
they that? Are they just that much better than everybody else?
Or they got a little help to.

Speaker 2 (15:40):
Question? I don't want to I'm not as well versed.
I'm not I don't want to speculate.

Speaker 5 (15:46):
I can understand in the with the Days of the
East Germany and in other events in track and field,
but I don't know how much, and I could be again,
I'm not well versed. I'll just shut up. Yeah, it's better.

Speaker 1 (16:00):
Neither am I, but again not most persons. A lot
of stuff. It's the Gottlieb Show here on Fox Sports Tradio.
Antnio Daniels is going to join us upcoming in uh
ten minutes here. Okay, so Nick's Pacers. Back to my question,
do I want to see the next win?

Speaker 2 (16:16):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (16:17):
Yes, Like I don't want to see them win a championship,
but I kind of do.

Speaker 2 (16:21):
I just I know it.

Speaker 1 (16:23):
Matters to people in Indiana, and I love the idea
of the underdog story, and I like Rick Carlisle and
how they play in all of those things. But I
also I don't know. I kind of want people to
watch the NBA Finals. I kind of want it to
really matter if it matters to New York. I do

(16:44):
I wish that you could cut out the dB fans,
those idiots that were throwing trash on some somebody. I
don't know why you're wearing a Pacer jersey to a
Nick Celtics game anyway, but he was so that you
don't earn you don't have the right to dump trash
on a dude, do. I wish it cut out all
of those hypocrites, even the former Knicks players like I'm
never coming back in here as long as Jim Dolan's

(17:06):
owned the team, then now they're good. They're like, yeah,
these are great seats. Huh. Thanks Again, there's a lot
of parts to it which are super obnoxious. I'm not
in denial of it, but you still want people to
pay attention to a really good sport, and they'll still
pay attention to the Pacers. But I'm more talking all
time lowess ratings, whereas if the Knicks are in it,

(17:29):
it's just more exciting. There's just no real other way
around you, guys dispute that Does that make you want
the Knicks to win more tonight?

Speaker 5 (17:38):
I again, I want the Knicks to win the series
because that just the Bucks and Pacers have been rivals
for the last couple of years, so I'm just I'm
not a Pacers fan, so that bias leans in. But
I can see where the Knicks stuff gets fall. I
would like to see the Knicks in the finals. I'd
love to see how that plays out and then they
lost even better, you know, because it then continues the

(17:58):
storyline something that that Jason likes as opposed to the
Bills and Lions, who I want to see breakthrough. Yeah,
I don't need to see the NIXT winner title.

Speaker 1 (18:07):
Plus, I like Karlathon Towns is so kind of awkward.
He has such a weird game. I really enjoy watching
the awkwardness of it. Just a weird, weird game, right,
Like he shoots before he shoots, then he jumps, and
then he goes into moves like he's a guard, like
he's and but it's not fast, but it goes by
bigger guys. It's just a weird game, weird game.

Speaker 1 (18:42):
It's the Doug Gottlieb Show Fox Sports Radio. One of
my favorite guys to watch play when he made the
league and grow as a broadcaster into one of the
most respected color analysts in the NBA is Antonio Daniels.
Of course, he his day job is he hosts uh
Serious XM NBA radio show, and his night job is

(19:04):
he's an analyst for the New Orleans Pelicans and when
he gets a moment, he pops on with us here
on Fox Sports Radio. Ton, thanks much for taking time.
Tell me what your eyes see when you watch the Oklahomas.
Oklahoma City thunder do such a great job of limiting
the shot attempts of Anthony Edwards.

Speaker 4 (19:26):
Well, first of ros, what's up, Doug? How you doing?

Speaker 2 (19:29):
Brock good Man, good to catch up.

Speaker 4 (19:34):
Oklahoma City is the best defensive team in the league.
And it's not it's not coincidental. Like there's not a
team in this league that's constructed the way that they are,
and this is all this is. This is the way
that they are put together. There's not lou Dor, then
it's jadb. And if it's not Ja Dubb, then it's SGA.

(19:55):
It's not Sja, then it's Kithon Wallace. It's not Kathon
Wallers been in, it's Alice Caruso. They have so many
excellent point of attack defenders to throw at you that
it makes it difficult. This league is all about matchups.
It's all about matchups, and there's a difference in aggressiveness

(20:16):
as far as defensives are concerned because you know what
Minnesota saw in the first two rounds. They saw the Lakers.
Now the Lakers, since they made certain moves, were a
top ten defensive team, but their defense is different. And
then they saw Golden State. Golden State's a really good
defensive team, but with Draymond Green and Jimmy Butler, they're

(20:37):
more of a smart defensive team, not a point of
attack defensive team. Then you meet the Oklahoma City Thunder
and they are like a bunch of wild hidiness defensively.
They are constantly coming at you, trapping you, taking the
ball out of your hands. They played passing lanes like
defensive backs and safeties like there's no team in this

(20:59):
league defensive that is constructed like the Oklahoma City Thunder. Ar.
I mean, that's the border. You don't win sixty eight
games in this league by accident by a fuke.

Speaker 1 (21:09):
Right, Well, no, he's Look, there's a couple of things
to it. They're outstanding defensively. I thought the way you
put it and what what people need to understand. They're playing,
they're gapping, they're gapping them, and uh really obviously frustrating,
honestly a little bit a little of it looks like
what Kevin Durant saw when the Warriors came from three

(21:31):
games to one back right where they're it's like guarding
him with two guys every time, and they're right, you know,
they haven't. They haven't done enough to make make the
thunder pay for helping. Whereas last night when they would
gap uh and really almost zone up on Shay Shaye
made the plays to Jay Dubb and you know that

(21:52):
late three late where Caruso sets kind of a flare screen.
So to me, it's the they're they're they're doing the
old make somebody else beat you, and the Timberwolves either
don't have anybody else that can beat him or they're
not able to stop Oklahoma City.

Speaker 4 (22:08):
Yeah, I mean the thing I think one of the
you know, you ever played for a coach that will
tell you, man, we hope, we hope this guy knocks
down his first three or first couple of threes, because
then he'll keep shooting them.

Speaker 1 (22:22):
You ever played for a coach that said that, uh, yeah, yes, yes,
we've said.

Speaker 4 (22:28):
That, yes, And that seems like the case with Julius Randall.
I felt like it was a blessing in disguise for
the Oklahoma City Thunder. To see Julius Randall come out
and go five for six in Game one from three
point nine. Yeah, that was great for the Thunder. That
was great for them. You know why because now he

(22:49):
becomes more apt to shoot threes as opposed to playing
downhill and using his physicality. But I will say this
to Julius Randall's defense, It's amazing to me how Julius Randall,
with the size and his physicality, has been the majority
of this series playing in the arena of players that

(23:10):
are smaller than him. Rather it's Lou Dort or Alex
Caruso or Cason Wallace or Jada. He's bigger and stronger
than all of them, but not once has have they
had to play in his arena. He's constantly trying to
find success in the arena dribble, handoff, pick and roll
situations thirty feet from the rim. So that actually plays

(23:32):
into the hands of the Oklahoma City's done there. I
know for me personally, I'm not tripping on Esney Ewards
thirteen shots. I just would like to see him be
more aggressive. Jacos As Alexander got a thirty shots yesterday.
He got a thirty attempt for me, I much rather
go down shooting. I would love to see my star.
If we're gonna go down, I'm gonna go down on

(23:53):
your back. If you're gonna be inefficient, be be inefficient.
But don't come out of the game with ten, eleven,
twelve attempts when your peer it's coming out of the
game with thirty.

Speaker 2 (24:07):
Attempts and a w Sure sure.

Speaker 1 (24:13):
The Knicks are taking on the Pacers tonight. Give me
your sense of that series?

Speaker 2 (24:17):
Right?

Speaker 1 (24:17):
Obviously the Pacers up two games to one, they have
home court advantage, and you know, had a great shot
to win even Game three, basically end the series, could not.

Speaker 2 (24:28):
What are your thoughts in that series?

Speaker 4 (24:31):
That series to me is different because there's much more competitive.
You see different changes that are taking, adjustments that are happening.
You know, Pibbs being down two even though they could
have easily won game one and says, you know what,
Josh Hart, We're going to bring you off the bench
and start Mitchell Robinson. This to me, and when you're

(24:54):
talking about the Indiana Pacers, it becomes a war of
ATTRICI they get up and down the floor, Doug, they play,
they play fast, and they play together. It's completely different
than who the New York Knicks are. The New York
Knicks can become very isocentric, where they put the ball
in Jalen Brunson's hands and allow Jalen Brunson to go

(25:14):
one on one and the game is close and they
have to trust him to put on that cap, turn
in the superman down the stretch and win the game.
But if you watch the Indiana Pacers, they run and
then when those guys get tired, then they come off
the bench with with Obi Top and TJ. McConnell and
Benedict Mathern and multitude of other guys. And I feel

(25:36):
like this, Doug. Honestly speaking, the rules are changed from
Game one to Game eighty two into the postseason, and
I feel like the Indiana Pacers because some of the
point of attack defenders that they have have been the
biggest beneficiary of the rules changes in a good way.
Niece Smith and nim Hard and McConnell, these guys get

(25:59):
in to you and they get up under you. And
we saw what that did to Donovan Mitchell and Darius
Garland and the Cleveland Cavaliers. They weren't prepared for that physicality.
So I feel like a lot of this series would
be determined on how these games were officiated.

Speaker 1 (26:14):
It's Doug Gottlieb Show here on Fox Sports Radio. I agree,
it's weird, right, Like that was is that the way
the game was officiating the regular season?

Speaker 4 (26:23):
No, not even close. I've never seen this drastic of
a change between Game one to Game eighty two and
Game eighty three and all, I've never seen this big
of a difference. These are two completely different These are
two completely different games of basketball to ever watching from
the regular season to the postseason.

Speaker 2 (26:42):
Yeah, yeah, I.

Speaker 4 (26:44):
Know, crazy, I know.

Speaker 1 (26:45):
And the teams that are just better because of it
have benefits, right right, And that's City.

Speaker 2 (26:51):
And in Indiana.

Speaker 4 (26:54):
Two. The thing is, when when we are making our
predictions for the postseason, are not assuming. What we're not
assuming is that there's going to be this big of
a change. We're gonna tell you what if you were
to tell me all right after Game eighty two and
we're going into the postseason, but the rules are going

(27:14):
to completely change. They're going to turn the clock back
to the eighties where it's say no blood or no
foul situation where a lot of games aren't going to
reach one hundred points. I would have probably told you
I would have guessed the Boston Celtics wouldn't repeat if
that was the case, because this is a team that
likes to get up and down. The Cleveland Cavaliers, this
is a team that likes to get up and down.

(27:35):
They love the free flowing offense of it all. And
now you remove that and make it more stagnant, and
make it more physical and make it more aggressive. And
you just said it, Doug. The team that adjusts the
best with this or the teams that will do better,
that will serve better.

Speaker 1 (27:52):
If Oklahoma City wins the title, what does it say
about the NBA from this perspective? Right, Like, you have
a first time MVP, but not a team that has
what we've seen. It's not the Sorry, it's not Lebron,
it's not the Warriors, you know, it's not the Celtics.

(28:12):
It's not a big name team with established superstars. You
have an up and coming star in a Shay which
maybe becomes a superstar, and a bunch of young guys.
But what does that say to the state of the NBA?
If that's what's able to Dolly winning more games in
the regular season anybody else, but also any more postseason
games to anybody else.

Speaker 4 (28:30):
You know what's funny though, is remember a year ago
when Boston won it and everybody tried to do what
Boston was doing. Remember, like everybody was shooting thirty threes
and forty threes and sometimes fifty three because it worked
for the Boston Celtics, even though their teams weren't constructed
like the Boston Celtics. What I hope people are paying

(28:51):
attention to is how Oklahoma City did this. They did
this the right way because when you're in a small market,
you have to overpay for certain you have to draft
and develop well. And that's what they've done. Right. Obviously
they have shake Joseph Alexander, But if you look at
some of the draft picks, I don't know if there's
a better executive in the league that has an eye

(29:12):
for talent like Sam Presty does, who he's drafted, who
they've developed. Right, I'm not talking about, you know, the
obvious ones. I'm talking about guys like Jay Does. I'm
talking about guys like Kason Wallace. Right, I'm not talking
about Chet Holmgren that was that was an obvious one.
Guys like lou Dort, guys that they have constructed this
championship caliber team the correct way. So I hope, I

(29:36):
would hope what's taken from this if Oklahoma City does
going and win the championship, is it's okay to be
patient with the process. Because people forget two or three
years ago. This is a team that won twenty games
or so, right, this is a team that was not
in the playoffs. Now, the NBA has become such a
microwave culture where everybody wants results now, and I hope

(29:59):
if Oka on the city, it's forcing enough to pull
this out. The NBA will change from a microwave culture
to a crock pop culture and understand it's okay to
be patient and let things simmer.

Speaker 1 (30:13):
It's also expensive, though, because then you have to re
up your guys, like you know, Chat's gonna get probably
a max extension, and obviously you know about Shay and
otherwise and look and they've done go ahead.

Speaker 4 (30:23):
I'm sorry, it's gonna be expensive regardless. Like that's what
this new CBA does. It's called the Dynasty Killer because
it's impossible, almost impossible to put a team together and
stay relevant, because you're right, Oklahoma City is going to
run into the same issues that Boston ran into because
when you and this is what I'm not a fan of.

(30:44):
I feel like, if you do things the right way,
if you draft well, develop well, and then eventually have
to pay well, you shouldn't be penalized for that. They
shouldn't be penalized for Shay Jogs, Alexander they've traded for it,
and Alex Caruso and Isai Hartenstein, everybody else, Isiah Joe,
those kind of guys. Everybody else is drafted and developed

(31:07):
those guys. Contracts shouldn't go toward the luxury text like
everybody else is shooting. We saw this with Golden State
right when they dragted Stiff Curry and Klay Thompson and
Draymond Green and Kevin Looney and all these guys that
were a part of their dynasty. But when you do
things the right way, it's only a matter of time
before you have to pay everybody. And now the team's

(31:28):
going to come apart. It'll be interesting to see what
the Boss and Celtis look like a year from now.

Speaker 1 (31:33):
He's Antonio Daniels. He played thirteen years in the NBA.
Remember that Spurs NBA championship team in ninety nine. Of course,
the color analyst for the New Orleans Pelicans. You can
hear them on Serious XMNBA Radio.

Speaker 2 (31:44):
Ton. Thanks so much for join us, man, I love
it for sure.

Speaker 2 (32:16):
Let's get to.

Speaker 1 (32:17):
Day huh oh for uh yeah, let's you live myyer's remorse.

Speaker 2 (32:27):
Some have remorse.

Speaker 5 (32:28):
I'm deeply sorry for my irresponsible and selfish behavior.

Speaker 6 (32:33):
I engage, but.

Speaker 3 (32:34):
There's nothing quite like buyer's remorse.

Speaker 5 (32:40):
Doug, my apologies to the Minnesota timber Wolves because I
believed in him.

Speaker 2 (32:46):
Maybe I shouldn't have.

Speaker 5 (32:48):
I believed that Anthony Edwards throughout this week I've said
Anthony Edwards has it. He was missing it last night
for sure, not being involved as much. I didn't think
it killed the Timberwolves, but it sure didn't help. And
it's sure going to be a narrative that continues. But
I was wrong again in the NBA Playoffs. I was

(33:09):
riding with the wolves, the wolf Pack of Minnesota, and
it came back to bite me as the thunder are
now up three one in the series.

Speaker 1 (33:17):
Quick side note to the wolf pac thing. Did you
know that the leader of the pack actually trails back
in the back, not in the front.

Speaker 2 (33:25):
Interesting it keeps an eye on everything in front of him.

Speaker 1 (33:28):
I mean, listen, I saw it on Instagram reel, so
it's got to be true.

Speaker 2 (33:31):
Gotta be true. But there's video to so no sneak attacks.

Speaker 1 (33:34):
The video video is true.

Speaker 5 (33:36):
NC States is the wolf Pack one word Nevada wolf
space Pack.

Speaker 2 (33:43):
That was for you. I was Sam, I figured like that.
I thank you. No, let's get to the press.

Speaker 1 (33:48):
Let's get to the press. The press, all right, Dan
by what's.

Speaker 2 (33:55):
In the press.

Speaker 5 (33:56):
All The controversy continues to brew in college football. If
you missed it, yesterday, S Commissioner Greg Sank with some
pointed comments about the leg do the and and Big
twelve and maybe others here was the SEC commission.

Speaker 2 (34:12):
I don't need lectures from others about good at the game.
I don't lecture others about good at the game. And
coordinating press release is about good at the game.

Speaker 6 (34:20):
Yeah, okay, you can issue your press statement, but I'm
actually looking for ideas to move us.

Speaker 2 (34:26):
Forward, Sultan.

Speaker 1 (34:28):
That's because the ACC and the Big Twelve at like
simultaneously put out the specialise going like, hey, we didn't
really want to sign up for this new seating thing,
but for the good of the game, we'll do it,
which nobody actually does things for the good of the game.

Speaker 2 (34:42):
Let's stop it.

Speaker 5 (34:43):
I understand everybody's got their underwear in a bundle, but
I just don't think they understand the consequences. Stuart Mandel,
who I respect for his coverage of college football, just
disagree with this point in saying that this is going
to ruin it having the four automatic bids for the
SEC and the Big Ten, What do you want them
to have seven teams in?

Speaker 2 (35:03):
If you put four in, at least.

Speaker 5 (35:05):
It limits them and allows these other conferences to get
an opportunity.

Speaker 2 (35:09):
Last year.

Speaker 5 (35:09):
There very well could have been an opportunity for Ole
Miss to be in the bracket and they weren't.

Speaker 2 (35:13):
There, and you should have been.

Speaker 5 (35:14):
Yeah, you put other opportunities Alabama, same thing like, there
could be years where you would want six or seven
SEC schools in along with the Big Ten, and so
those other leagues I think are being could be being
pushed out.

Speaker 2 (35:29):
I like it now. The ambulance.

Speaker 6 (35:32):
I think we just witnessed some market. Stewart take that.
I am Stewie.

Speaker 5 (35:37):
I appreciate Stuart's work on X done it for decades
when you wrote a whole piece of the athletic. It
may ruin some of the beginning matchups that we get
in college football, but guess what if we have a playoff,
we're just getting those games at the end of the year.

Speaker 2 (35:51):
They actually do mean more.

Speaker 5 (35:53):
Granted it may not be in the home stadiums, but still,
I just I don't think people are looking at this
higherly of what could happen if they're giving the ACC
the Big twelve something they could have nothing.

Speaker 1 (36:07):
Well no, and plus the accce in the Big Twelve
last year could have solidified that they have two spots
in the field. They chose not to and the Big
twelve end up paying the price for it.

Speaker 6 (36:17):
Yes, absolutely, it's more like Stuart man down.

Speaker 5 (36:22):
Oh no, mad respect for Stuart Mandel Lakers respect.

Speaker 2 (36:27):
We just don't agree on respect.

Speaker 5 (36:28):
Man Lakers for Lebron James has expected, exercises player option
for next season and play in LA.

Speaker 2 (36:34):
He's going to stay alike her, He's gonna, Thank god,
I was, I was really concerned.

Speaker 6 (36:38):
There on pins and needles.

Speaker 2 (36:40):
Oh my goodness.

Speaker 5 (36:40):
There Olympic star gymnast Mary Lourett and arrested earlier this
month on duy charges in West Virginia and was released
on fifteen hundred dollars bond was my request.

Speaker 1 (36:51):
By the way, they did backflips trying not to arrest her.

Speaker 6 (36:54):
Huh what I heard the cops say that they knew
that she had had too much a drink when she's
the uneven bars were.

Speaker 1 (37:01):
Even And that's the press that get out there and pressed.

Speaker 2 (37:06):
That was the press really quickly.

Speaker 1 (37:09):
We do realize real Lebron's gonna play an additional year
with the Lakers, right because you can't like again for
your kids. You can't stick around and make them draft
one son and not make them draft another son and
not want to play a game with Bryce? Right, And
if you've been the first father's son, you want to
be the first father to play with two sons.

Speaker 2 (37:28):
Why not?

Speaker 1 (37:28):
It's just one more season gonna happen. Prediction calling it
now Lebron James, two more years in La dan Byer,
who wins tonight?

Speaker 2 (37:38):
Doug?

Speaker 5 (37:39):
I think it's gonna be a hard fought game, But
I like the Pacers to bounce back and get the
win against the Knicks and go up three to one.

Speaker 1 (37:45):
What do you think there, Jase two?

Speaker 6 (37:48):
Let's see. I'll flip a coin. Yeah, Pacers.

Speaker 1 (37:50):
Pacers are two and a half point favorites. We're all
comfortable to Pacers. I like the New York Knicks. I
like the New York Knicks. And again, this is not me, Betty,
this is me saying I want the New York Knicks
to win because I don't know, it's more exciting when
they're involved. They lose in Game seven, I would love
to drink those tiers. Those would be fun as well.
