Speaker 2 (00:18):
I don't know if the Jacksonville Jaguars could beat the
Kansas City Chiefs, but today they do. On Fox Sports Radio,
We're going to talk about Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs
in about fifteen minutes or so. Because Mahomes had some
interesting comments to make about his performance, we'll just leave
it at that about his performance in one certain area. Yeah,

(00:40):
that's in fifteen minutes. But we start in Jacksonville. This
doesn't happen too often, but Mancy, I'm telling you why
it's happening and the reason why it's happening. And this
is the whole reason behind Jacksonville trading up in the draft.
If I were to say to you, Monty, name me

(01:02):
a famous Dallas cowboy.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
You know you just did this to me the other day.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
Right, Okay, just any Dallas cowboy could be current, could
be former cooy could be could be current former Dak Prescott.
Let's just say that. Perfect, all right? What about if
I were to say to you give me a give
me a New England Patriot, famous New England Patriot, current
or former Tom Brady Kansas City Chief Patrick Mahomes, All right, look,

(01:30):
this is this is really good Indianapolis Colts pastor former pastor,
uh Peyton Manning. There you go like, this is this
is look and I'm going to put you off the hook. Iowa, Sam, Okay,
I'm gonna ask you give me a famous Minnesota Viking.
Anyone I got one? Yes, Randy Moss. Perfect, that's perfect.

(01:55):
There are no wrong answers here. What about if I
said Detroit? Think of that? Why am I spacey today?

Speaker 4 (02:01):
I don't know?

Speaker 2 (02:03):
From Minnesota? Adrian Peterson, I'm.

Speaker 3 (02:07):
Slow today, He's still it was still thinking.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
I was like staring off into space on that one
Philadelphia Eagle. Anybody want Donovan McNabb All right, ron Jo
Wars Yeah, okay, okay, all right. Now now we're starting
to go into interesting territory.

Speaker 4 (02:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
When I say Jacksonville Jaguar, who do we say? Exactly
my point? See, we could do this for thirty one Titans,
Steve McNair, Eddie George like, we've got it now. There
are Jaguar players that we know, but there's never been
a true star in Jacksonville. Did somebody else just just

(02:45):
tweet in Ceedee Lamb when we asked about the Cowboys
that they went in on the Packers and say Brett
fav or Aaron Rodgers. So when Jacksonville trades up to
get Travis Hunter and they give Cleveland their first round
pick next year as part of the deal, they weren't
necessarily only doing it because Travis Hunter could do two

(03:07):
things for them, offense and defense. They're doing it because
this franchise is dying, dying for a star. And we
see how stars work in the NBA and for the NFL.
Even though it seems like nothing affects the NFL whatsoever,
there are stars within the game. They're just there are

(03:27):
and they have never really had one. And that's why
I think Travis Hunter is so important to them. And
what I love about the Jacksonville Jaguars and why they're
on the same page is they've tried a bunch of
different things, right. They tried to bring an urban Meyer
to change the direction and put in his style and
his stamp. Well, that doesn't work out, So let's just

(03:49):
bring in a guy who can fix Trevor Lawrence and
who won a super Bowl, Doug Peterson. That ends up
fizzling out in Jacksonville. So now you're bringing Liam Cohen
and you're going to try to do something different as
you now are making inroads for all of the times
you've played in London. Manzi, they finally have a superstar.
And I love how Jacksonville is leaning in to Travis

(04:11):
Hunter being a superstar.

Speaker 3 (04:12):
I'm with you because when the story of Travis Hunter
came out that he still wanted to play both defense
and offense in the NFL, most people were like, that's
not gonna happen. You can't possibly do that and be
successful at it. I think Derrick Henry was the most
recent one who just said it's like, yeah, in theory,
that's great, Like, okay, you can do that, but can

(04:33):
you really do that for an entire game, for an
entire season, for your entire career. Like the idea of
it sounds awesome, especially when you have a show, Hey
Otani in La the Unicorn, Like the idea sounds really cool.
But I feel like there was so much pushback from
former players current players that it's like, that's not it's
not gonna work in the NFL, And yet here is

(04:56):
Jacksonville and like, we're still gonna try. Even though all
of you are telling us it can't possibly work and
be successful, We're still gonna try.

Speaker 2 (05:05):
And I love that.

Speaker 3 (05:07):
I don't know how it's gonna go. I also wonder
if there are if the NFL themselves or like coaches,
young coaches in college are hoping that Jacksonville doesn't do this,
because you know there's gonna be young kids out there
that the minute they see this, they're gonna be like, well,
if you can do it, I can do it. And
the reality is like, no, just because Steph Curry can

(05:27):
shoot the ball like that doesn't mean you can. Just
because Travis Hunter can do this doesn't mean that you can.
And I feel like maybe that's the only side of
it that I wonder if if people are against Jacksonville
actually jumping all in.

Speaker 2 (05:41):
But I like it.

Speaker 5 (05:42):
I like it.

Speaker 3 (05:42):
I wasn't expecting it.

Speaker 4 (05:43):
There was so much pushback.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
It's very easy, especially the chairs that you and I
occupy or I'm sitting in a chair, you're standing, but
in the spots that we occupy to say can't do
it right, can't do it, yeah, can't do it yep.
It's easy to sit there and say can't be done.
You need to focus on one or the other. What
I'm curious about is is what's the bar, Like, what's

(06:05):
the bar for Travis Hunter offensively? Where we're like, this
is a success. What's the bar defensively? Because when the
Jaguars released this depth chart, he's first team offense, second
team defense right now, and so then that tells me
you're really leaning into this as as something and I
feel we compared Travis Hunter to Deon Sanders, who was

(06:28):
the best cornerback in the National Football League who played
on offense. I'm not going to quiz you guys, but
I'm going to ask the question, does anybody here have
an idea of what Deon's best season was? Receiving anyone?
It was thirty six catches for four hundred and seventy
five yards and one touchdown.

Speaker 4 (06:48):
That was it.

Speaker 6 (06:49):
That was it.

Speaker 2 (06:50):
Now, we put Deon on a pedestal because he played
baseball and football at the same time. But when we're
talking about a two way player. Just in football, we
also point to Deon Sanders and say, well, what can
What did Deon Sanders do?

Speaker 1 (07:02):
That was it?

Speaker 2 (07:03):
That was his best season. He didn't have a season
with more than seven catches after that year in Dallas
in nineteen ninety six. That was it. So if Travis
Hunter goes out and has more than five hundred yards
receiving and forty catches, it may be the best two
way player that we've seen, considering what Deon Sanders actually did.

(07:24):
And I just love the fact that Jacksonville is saying,
you know what, like truly Monci, the team's success is
dependent upon Trevor Lawrence and whether he is healthy and
whether he can play or not. The team's popularity is
dependent on Travis Hunter. And they're leaning full bore into that.

Speaker 3 (07:43):
You're not wrong and going with that focus thing. Trevor
Lawrence came out and said, like, yeah, I want him
to just focus on offense because I want him to
catch the ball. I want to throw him the ball.
So it's I know they're they're making it out to
be that they are going to use him on both
sides of the ball. I wonder if when Week one
comes around, if it's really gonna be like that, or

(08:04):
if right now they're just testing the water, like you said,
bringing the eyes, bringing the attention to Jacksonville, because everybody
is interested to see how this is gonna go.

Speaker 2 (08:13):
Yes, everyone, this is the most.

Speaker 3 (08:15):
Intriguing storyline right now for me. Shador Sanders probably coming
in close to the two and three when it comes
to him as starting with the Browns in this preseason game.
But everyone wants to see how Travis Hunter handles doing
this because we've never seen it, and so I don't
know what's gonna happen once preseason is over. And I
wonder if Trevor Lawrence will have any say on this

(08:36):
also as his quarterback of I want you to focus
on offense.

Speaker 2 (08:41):
Well, I'll say this, I think Liam Cohen will have
the ultimate say because he's the head coach and I
get Trevor Lawrence's need. But whatever Liam Cohen ends up
deciding is what's going to happen. Because here's what the
head coach had to say earlier this week. Do you
think he can be offensive and defensive rookie of the
Year in the same year?

Speaker 4 (08:59):
Who?

Speaker 5 (09:00):
I do think it's possible.

Speaker 7 (09:01):
He is committed man like he is committed to driving,
not just himself, but his teammates as well. And I
think that his teammates, like these guys are challenging him
every single day, like he doesn't get a free pass
because he was the second overall pick in East Travis Hunter,
like they are in his grill, trying to jam him up,
trying to hem him up, trying to make it as

(09:21):
hard as they can possibly make it for him in
a great way, like in the most healthy way as possible,
where they're going at it and chirping at each other.
But it's truly guys, iron sharpening iron. That's what it
feels like. And I wouldn't expect anything less from those guys.

Speaker 2 (09:38):
That was Liam Cohen with rich Eisen earlier this week. So, Mancy,
it's not even the question of can he play both ways?
It's can he excel to the point where he's the
rookie of the year in both And they're leaning into it,
Like I think that's that's amazing. I think that that's
great because there's so many so much I can't, he can't,
they can't, we can't, And here Jacksonville is completely leaning

(10:01):
into it. And time will tell we'll find out in
week seventeen Week eighteen on how Travis Hunters has progressed.
But in mentioning Dion Sanders, no better guy to be
your college coach and mentor throughout your you know, developing
years into a professional than having the guy that everybody
is also comparing you to. And I know Dion believes

(10:22):
in Travis Hunter, and Liam Cohen believes in Travis Hunter,
and apparently his teammates believe in Travis Hunter. I think
it's amazing what Jacksonville is doing and the reason why
they are doing so may have dollar signs at the
end of it, but this team needs a superstar and
they're leaning.

Speaker 3 (10:35):
Into it, and I love it, even if it is
for dollar signs. This is the right move. Like you said,
they traded up for him. How crappy would have been
if you traded up for him and then you're like, no,
he's just going to focus on one side of the ball.
They'd be like there was a point, Yeah, it was
a boy. This that's not what we want to see
in Travis Hunter. And with so many no's and so
many like you just said, you can't do this, it's

(10:56):
refreshing to see Jacksonville take this other approach.

Speaker 2 (11:00):
She's Monzie Milanos. I'm Dan Byert's the Doug Gottlieb Show
here on Fox Sports Radio. Coming up next, Na Villain's
at Adam kaplan away in we'll get his thoughts on
Travis Hunter. We als, we'll get his thoughts on Patrick Mahomes.
But first we're going to hear from Patrick Mahomes on
the other side, as the Chiefs quarterback talks about his
rating and not passer rating and not win percentage, none

(11:22):
of that. Patrick Mahomes weighs in on his Madden rating.
That's next here on Fox Sports Radio.

She's Monty belayas out of the embyer. I'll let you
figure out who the idiot was. Adam Kaplan is not
an idiot. In fact, he knows all things. Nfl Are
Insider will join us in about five minutes or so,

(12:35):
plus asig Long Crown's coming up in a couple of
minutes with the latest of what's going on in the
world of sports today. Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs taking
on the Cardinals tomorrow in pre season football. Cardinals is
going to be playing some of their starters. That was
the message from Jonathan Gannon. Patrick Mahomes not talking about
the matchup with the Cardinals, but recently talked about his

(12:56):
Madden rating, which Manzi, by the way, not ninety nine.
Patrick Mahomes a ninety five, that's fourth best in Madden.
Here's the chief signal caller.

Speaker 6 (13:07):
I would like to be rated higher, but I got
to play and showcase that stuff on the football field.
And so if I believe I go out there and
play the football that I want to play, that we
can get to ninety nine pretty quickly.

Speaker 2 (13:19):
So Patrick Mahomes a ninety five, which I'm surprised about,
but I think there's a big sur high as Cidy No,
it's as low as it is. He should be a
ninety nine. I don't think that there's I'm sorry, Like
if you go around the National Football League and you're
picking quarterbacks, not fantasy wise, fantasy different I don't have

(13:40):
Mahomes as a top fantasy guy in part because his
defense is really good, you know, and so like you're
not maybe getting in these forty four to thirty eight
shootouts that other teams might. They're really good defensively, great defensively,
and so you have this give and take in this
formula of winning. But there's no doubt in my mind
Patrick Mahomes should be ninety nine, even if his supporting

(14:03):
cast around him isn't great, Like he's worthy of that rating.
I find it interesting that he took it as a
serious question, as you know, have you lost a step?
But I think that's the bigger question, like do people
think that Patrick Mahomes has actually maybe lost something coming
off of a Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Speaker 3 (14:24):
I don't know if he's lost something. His numbers are
a little bit down last year from twenty twenty three,
but the team was also struggling with injuries throughout it,
and so I agree with you that if he was
ninety nine on that rating, I would have no problem
with it. But I think this is just kind of

(14:45):
fueling the fire a little bit for him, because again,
his numbers dipped a little bit right from twenty twenty
three to twenty twenty four, and then from twenty twenty
two to twenty twenty three there was also like a dip,
so it's been dipping the last two years. I think
it's only.

Speaker 2 (15:02):
Fair touchdown passes are down, his rating is down. If
you had more touchdown passes, his rating, I feel would
be would be higher. But again, it's not the type
of football that the Chiefs are playing that they played
three or four.

Speaker 3 (15:14):
And that's a really fair point. That's a really fair point.
But all this is doing is making him want more,
So I don't see this being a bad thing.

Speaker 2 (15:23):
Yeah, it can serve his motivation exact super Bowl loss
isn't enough all of that. Yeah, Yes, I love it
when guys freak out over their Madden rating because nobody's like, yeah,
I agree with that. They're all like, I shouldn't be higher,
even if you're you know, even if you're ninety five.
But Patrick Mahomes is saying there's room to improve.

Speaker 3 (15:40):
Hey, some people use that as a reason to trade
or not trade for someone.

Speaker 2 (15:44):

It is the Doug Gottlieb Show on Fox Sports Radio.
Joining us now NFL Insider. You can find him on
ex at Kaplan NFL, also the Inside of the Birds podcast.
Adam Kaplan joins us for a Friday Hello Adam.

Speaker 4 (16:11):
Guys, Yeah, I was listening to you a little bit earlier, Dan,
the problem with Mahomes was Picclary. Last year, they really
coulnot find their downfield passing game. And you know, their
hope was if you're worthy who did some good things
and a healthy Hollywood Brown, be able to open it up.
And that's and they're going to get Rachhie Rice back
this season. Oh he's going to be he's got a

(16:32):
suspension coming. But the bottom line is they're going to
open the offense up. That's what I was told in March,
and I still believe that's going to be the case
and that'll help us numbers, to be honest with.

Speaker 2 (16:41):
You, But and none of that has anything to do
with Mahomes, right. I mean it's so like when mahomes
a specific rating as we argue Madden ratings here on
Fox Sport, and I know we're not arguing.

Speaker 4 (16:51):
But yeah, it's funny because I don't really you guys
got to help me out here. How does that work?
How do they come up with a rating?

Speaker 2 (16:57):
I think it's I watched the Madden documentary that they did,
and there are a bunch of guys in the room
and figuring out, you know, what is what for accuracy?
I don't think it's a on a like a grading
scale where each quarterback is slotted so one is ninety
nine ninety eight on certain things. I just think that
they looked at Mahomes overall and felt like, oh, well,

(17:17):
look at his numbers. Didn't throw for four thousand yards.
His quarterback rating is down, must be in ninety five
because that's not the Patrick Mahomes we are used to.
And I just think the circumstances that you talked about,
Adam are the reason why Patrick Mahomes doesn't have the numbers,
Not because Patrick Mahomes has lost anything.

Speaker 4 (17:35):
No, he'sn't lost to anything. And now now the other things,
and we got to mention this. Their offensive line was
awful in the playoffs. They didn't have a left tackle.
They went through four left tackles. And look, they had
some problems with their offensive line. They're gonna have a
bunch of changes. They're gonna have a new left tackle,
new left guard, and a new right tackle potentially. So
that's that plays anyway. If you can't protect, it's hard

(17:56):
to throw the ball downfield, and the running game Isaiya
pa Checko had the broken leg. He didn't look great
when he came back. So Dan, if you sum this
all up, yeah, there were a lot of problems with
their offense last season. It's in a way it's surprisingly
made it to the Super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (18:10):
Adam the big story obviously today coming off of last
night's preseason game, Anthony Richardson getting hurt, you know, peaky
finger dislocated. I feel like he is in limbo here
we Dan made a comment he can't stay healthy after
last night. How do the Colts move forward with Anthony Richardson?

Speaker 4 (18:29):
Yeah, and look, he don't. The thing is he's so
raw Moncie. He needs a lot of work, and you
know the maturity issue last year, it's not good. Look,
Daniel Jones got really a backup contract fourteen million, which
is high end backup money. But they brought him in
here to push Richardson. And look, Chris Balder gm like

(18:51):
he has not gotten right a quarterback since Andrew Lux
surprised all of us and retired, Like it's not Chris's fault.
But since then, these went through a series of quarterbacks.
It hasn't worked. And now this is it. I mean,
you remember Jim Mersey, who hired him, has passed away unfortunately,
and his daughters were running the football team, so you
got look, they got to get this right. They could

(19:13):
blow this thing up if they're an under five hundred team.
I don't think it would have surprised anyone if there
was a reset here. We'll see what happens. But on
your question about the quarterback, Richardson is very gifted, but
he's never been able to put it together. And you
mentioned the injuries he had. He said significant shoulder problems.
Now he's got this pit by the way, it's on

(19:33):
his right hand. Now the question will be if they
tape it up or they splin it up, how well
he could throw the football. That's what we got to
watch of you. He's able to practice on Saturday.

Speaker 2 (19:41):
Yeah, yeah, I mean that all of the NFL players
that I saw analyze the play last night that Moncie
saw were in defense of what the Colts did, and
that Richardson missed the read. And my whole point is.

Speaker 4 (19:53):
He ain't say it. By the way, he didn't even
see the right I know enough about the quarterback position
talking to quarterback coaches at offense, the court or like
you pre snap. You got to know where your hot
receiver is. You got to know where everybody is and
that ball's got to come out.

Speaker 2 (20:05):
He just that's bad.

Speaker 4 (20:07):
That's due to lack of experience. Dan, It's a fair point.

Speaker 2 (20:09):
I just think he's a guy that was That was
Manzi's point. I just think he can't stay on the
field to learn this stuff. And even if he does,
even if he does learn it, he is so injury
prone that I don't know if it's ever going to work.
And I know that's crazy to say about it.

Speaker 4 (20:25):
T is what it is. But we are where we are,
what year three? Yeah, and he's done really next to nothing.
It's it's, you know, being a call fan, it's got
to be tough because like they find a way to
be competitive, but they haven't really gone anywhere unfortunately under
Chris Ballard. It's a fair decent drafter, but there's been
something It's not just quarterback where they've not gotten right,
but something missing with the cults. Why aren't they better?

(20:47):
Like you can't blame everything a quarterback.

Speaker 2 (20:48):
Yeah, absolutely, Adam Kaplan joining us here on Fox Sports Radio.
You can hear them Sunday afternoons with Monty Blagos and
Carrie Rhoades five o'clock Eastern time two Pacific. Adam and
I also hooked up to do a show or that
was a couple of weeks ago.

Speaker 3 (21:01):
It was.

Speaker 2 (21:01):
We had a great time.

Speaker 4 (21:02):
Talking golf and tennis. Yes, yeah, there wasn't as much
NFL talk as you would have which I was shocked
that Dan to be out to you, because when you
haven't hosted a show with someone, you don't I know
your background, so you know, I hear you and I
know you're big golf guy. And I was on the
golf team in high school. I did I tell you that?
Oh yes, yes for three years, so I don't you know.
I don't play as much as that. He's still not

(21:24):
really good anymore, but even competitive anymore. But yeah, you
are a sportsman, there's no question about it.

Speaker 2 (21:30):
We had We had a lot of fun, and I
think the Jacksonville Jaguars are having fun. And I just
talked about Travis Hunter. Let's talk about it.

Speaker 4 (21:36):
I love I love how.

Speaker 2 (21:37):
They're leaning into it and Liam Cohen telling Rich eisen
Hey offensive defense rookie of the year all on the table.
I feel that the franchise needs a superstar. I mean,
is is he leading the charge of a turnaround in
Jacksonville under their new head coach right now, I mean,
is it all about Travis Hunter and.

Speaker 4 (21:52):
Jacks Well, look, there's a reason why they made the trade,
you know, to make sure they got him. But my
feeling is, I know, I I did one of my
side gigs, I worked for Sports Grid, and I did
a video saying and I'll just kind of give you
a little we have a little bit more time so
to explain it. It's highly unlikely that'll be a two
way player for years to come. This year, they're clearly

(22:13):
committed to it. And let me give you a why
I don't see it happening. Physically, the demands of the
National Football League playing corner and receiver are enormous. A.
You can get hit as a receiver and B you
got to tackle as a corner. It's a lot. I know,
he's really smart by the way, Hunter tested very well,
highly intelligent guy, so he'll be able to pick up

(22:34):
what they're asking. Then the other thing is from a
game planning standpoint, you can't have a part time corner
like they drafted them in the first round. But you
have to know as a coach, as a defensive coordinator. Okay,
it's Grant Yudinski is excuse me, it's Antheic Campinelli is
a defense coordinator. Am I going to have him this week?

(22:54):
How much are going to have him? Am I going
to have him for forty plays? Twenty plays? How do
you coach like that? I'm telling it's not sustainable. It's
not going to happen long term.

Speaker 2 (23:03):
No way.

Speaker 3 (23:04):
That's what we're waiting, you know, by the edge of
our seats to see.

Speaker 2 (23:07):
How that goes.

Speaker 4 (23:07):
I can't wait to see it, though, I I you know,
I can't wait.

Speaker 3 (23:11):
I can't either absolutely be going into back to the
to the preseason game last night. You know Ashton Genty
obviously everybody's waiting to see him in Las Vegas, but
there was the other guy playing against him that played
with him in Boisjilani. Ye, what did you think of

(23:31):
I know it's only preseason, but what did you think
of that? Did you have opinions before going into the preseas.

Speaker 4 (23:36):
I know about him? Yeah, So basically what it is
is they're looking for a number three back. Kenny McIntosh
who is going to be their number three back. He's
out for the season with the twenty a cel and
Jilani was actually signed last year and was on their
practice squad and he's built like he's not to tell
he's on her five to eleven, but he's built really,
really solidly, and he got to run. You know, they

(23:57):
weren't going to play the starters last night in Seattle,
and he got a run and he looked pretty good.
Really nice story. And well, we'll see how you know,
they know the player because this is his second year.
We'll see how it works out. But Seattle's a team
that and when you look at him, there's some talent
on this roster. It's can they put it together? And
I really like Clint Kobeak as an offensive coordinator. I

(24:18):
thought he did a good job under trying circumstances with
the Saints last season, and they're completely revered. The offense
that he runs is completely different from Ryan Grubbs offense,
which was heavy eleven personnel and spread. This is completely different.
This is an old school West Coast offense. It's going
to look completely different. Disease.

Speaker 2 (24:34):
They're gonna be a top five defense this year. Their
talent on defense, they really are. Yes, I believe that.
That's my heart saying it.

Speaker 4 (24:42):
Maybe I'll tell you what they're the Giants who I'm
going to see this coming week. They are loaded. If
you're a Giants fan listened to us across the country here,
you're gonna love their front seven. The secondary is my
problem with the Giants, but I look forward to see
him that they have a joint practice with the Jets.
I think we'll two.

Speaker 2 (24:58):
I want to stay on this coast and by the coast,
I mean the West coast with the Rams. Sure, Matthew
Stafford obviously hasn't been taking part, but there seems to
be good news later on in the week. Where are
the Rams with Stafford? I mean, is this the Swan song?
Considering they have two first rounders next year? What are
we looking at for the veteran?

Speaker 4 (25:15):
You be all right? So with an epidura, I you know,
I've covered injuries for twenty seven years, and with an
epidural you have to let you have to let it
sit when you have it.

Speaker 2 (25:29):
On your back.

Speaker 4 (25:30):
It takes time. You're not gonna be ready in a week.
So they knew this all along. He'd be ready for
the season. That was never a concern of theirs. But
he's had guys, he's had back problems before in his career,
but he always see more often than not, he seems
to play. Now when you look at his contract, right,
he's only signed for twenty six Now, the cash that's

(25:51):
guaranteed his contract, sixteen million of his forty million in
cash is guaranteed. So that's not a big number they
could get out of if they want to and eat
sixteen million or trade him. But you're right, Dan, that's
something to look at now as we get through the fall.
In November, we'll talk about I'll give him my list
of the early quarterbacks that I'm hearing who could go

(26:11):
in the first round, and that'll give us a better
idea because I'll tell you what the Rams, when you
look at the way they draft, they do a phenomenal
job of drafting and developing. I gotta tell you that
the way that Lesnie drafts there, he's terrific. He's one
of the he's probably one of the top three drafting
gms in the National Football League.

Speaker 3 (26:31):
Does Michael Parsons really have a back injury.

Speaker 4 (26:34):
No, I don't believe it. This is an old fashioned
hold in. I'm telling you folks, they're going to get
a deal done, whether it's tonight, tomorrow, a week before
season started. I just don't see any way that he
plays on twenty six million. I just don't know. There's
just this bizarreness. Mont See, this is a really interesting story.
It's actually twenty four million, not twenty six It's twenty

(26:56):
four million points zero zero seven is the exact number.
But the fact that Jerry tried to do a backdoor
deal with Michael on his own and then Mike's like,
wait a minute, wait a minute, we're not we're talking
money here, but we're not doing deal. And Jerry's like,
wait a minute, we have a we in agreement. I mean,
are you serious. That's exactly what happened when I first
heard about this in April, I didn't Jerry actually gave

(27:17):
the details out. I mean he gave more and sort
of Micah, by the way, in the statement, this is
even for Jerry, this is this is this is even
in the next level bazaarre. But you know what, this
is what he does, this is what this is the
next level.

Speaker 2 (27:31):
Though, Dan I felt this is what I felt happened,
is that all this stuff has always been going on,
and just like we felt that there was a line
drawn in the w n B A with throwing things
on the court. I felt like this o's spent a lot. Yeah,
don't worry. That's the first hour of the show. Dan
after Dark, Moncey after Dark, she's the scandalous.

Speaker 4 (27:53):
Well, I listen, I gotta tell you real quick. Remember
when it happened at the Bill's Bill?

Speaker 2 (27:58):
Yes, yes, so someone who doesn't want to talk about it.

Speaker 4 (28:01):
Well, wait, I gotta tell you something. This is what
but this is what happened. So I happened to have
it might have been the red Zone. I'm like, wait,
what what was that that I just saw? So I
stopped it and I replayed him like I lost it.
My wife goes, why you you know, when you laugh
so hard you cry. Yeah. I couldn't stop laughing, Like,
this didn't happen, This did not happen. What is going on?

(28:24):
I don't you know? This is a family show.

Speaker 2 (28:25):
I think, Yeah, don'torry, it's still on our DVR, it's.

Speaker 4 (28:28):
Still got yeah, yeah, yeah, I cannot, but I still can.
How does that happen? Anyway?

Speaker 2 (28:33):
My point is I felt that a lot of the
insiders were starting to tell Jerry Jones stories that we
hadn't heard before. And I don't know I don't know why,
Like Micah Parsons was the tipping point. But we'd started
to hear things of Dexter, of DeMarcus Lawrence excuse me
to talk about the Giants DeMarcus Lawrence uh and his
time when he was a cowboy. We had heard des

(28:55):
Bryant negotiations. It felt like it felt like everything was
then starting to like kind of pour out about how
Jerry Jones does this stuff. And I don't know if
it's the Micah Parsons offensive. I don't know if we
should call it the Micah Parsons project. There was a
lot of this's this next level though that that, and
you know, I love it. Like in the spring, Jerry

(29:17):
praised Parsons for his knowledge of contracts. He said, I've
never seen a player like but I didn't. I actually
asked someone who would know. I'm like, can you explain
to me what he's What he.

Speaker 4 (29:25):
Meant that.

Speaker 2 (29:27):
I was a great vacuumer, so then she wouldn't have
to vacuum when I was a kid. That's what that is.
That is like, oh, yeah, no, all vacuum because I'm
the best at it.

Speaker 4 (29:34):
Well, Dan, remember when I think it's when we hosted
I think and this is when Jerry, at the start
of training camp made a statement about Parsons and it
was really off the wall, and I and my friend
with the Cowboys said, you're not going to believe this.
You have to listen to this. I'm like, okay, well,
because when I hear that, I'm like, all right, what
am I getting into? And then I heard I'm like,

(29:55):
he is a different guy man, And once and for all,
he really pays more than he really should.

Speaker 2 (30:00):
Oh well, you know, it's great to uh to have
you on. You know, we should pay you more than
we should.

Speaker 4 (30:05):
I mean, listen, first, we need to do two segments.

Speaker 2 (30:08):
Yes, yes, absolutely, but we got sidetracked with some foreign
objects flying in your pocket. You'll be with Moncey and
Kerry coming up on Sunday and uh five o'clock Eastern time.
The show is Adam Music checks in at about six
twenty Eastern time, right and yes, hey, hey, you know what, I.

Speaker 4 (30:26):
Know what happens during the football season and I'm out
sid six thirty two on the nod that's Mansy. She
runs a tight yep does a good job.

Speaker 2 (30:33):
Appreciated Adam will Texic soon hit him up at kapitolin NFL.
Find Mancy at Moncey Bilano, so you can find me

he does Monty is. Yeah, She's right on on board
with that.

Speaker 3 (30:52):

Speaker 3 (31:32):
We could stop lay and tears rolling down.

Speaker 2 (31:36):

it exactly. She's Moncey Blago. Hit her up at Moncey Blaos.
Find me dan Byer at dan Byer on Fox. Also,
by the way, I'm Blue Sky at dan Byer b
e y e R. Ryan Berschinger is here Iowa. Sam
is hanging out as well. Isaac Longcrowns at the news
desk with the press. The press.

Speaker 9 (32:01):
Busy day for the Chicago Bears, both on and off
the field. First of all, they announced that quarterback Caleb
Williams will not play in the preseason opener for them
on Sunday against the Dolphins. It'll be Tyson Bagent getting
the start. But then off the field, team president Kevin
Warren telling reporters that the Bears remain squarely focused on
the location, their proposed new stadium, being in Arlington Heights,

(32:22):
a village twenty miles northwest of Chicago. They hope to
break ground in December, needs to pass a vote in October.
But among other things, I think this would almost steal
the indictment of New Soldier Field being a bust. You've
heard of draft picks being a bust. I've heard people
say terrible things about Soldier Field ever since the New

(32:45):
Soldier Field opened with the spaceship designed. Despite it being
an incredible location.

Speaker 2 (32:50):
Yeah it is. It's on Lake Shore Drive, on the
shores of Lake Michigan in downtown Chicago. It is amazing.
I was fortunate I've not been to the New Soldier Field.
I went to the old Soldier Field in nineteen ninety
five to actually the second game ever played by the
Carolina Panthers. It was a preseason game Bears Panthers, and
it was the second game because the Panthers opened up

(33:12):
with the Jaguars in the Hall of Fame game because
they were new teams. But so it was really unique
to see the Panthers. The point being is the old
Soldier Field was a dump. You needed a new stadium,
you just didn't need to put a toilet shaped rocket
ship replacing it. And because that's what it looks like.
And I know there's been a lot going on in politics,
but Isaac's right about the location, like it's a shame

(33:35):
that it would be leaving downtown and the other thing
is this, if anything will tell you in recent history
in the NFL, with these markets that are colder weather markets,
it's easy to say, hey, we'll get we'll get a
dome stadium, we'll bring super Bowls and Final Fours and
all this and they'll be shopping and this whole deal.

(33:59):
That's all fine, and but how many super Bowls has
Minneapolis gotten since they've built their new stadium one? How
many has Indianapolis gotten since they've built There's one? Jerry
Jones has what we thought was a stand of the
art facility. It was a mess with some of the
seats there. They've had one super Bowl, so when we

(34:20):
say super bowls, that's not accurate. It's a super Bowl
and there's no guarantee that Final Fours will be there.
So I think when they say this stuff, it sounds
good on paper, but in reality, I don't know how
great it is to build an indoor facility away from
downtown and then you sell everybody on shops and apartments

(34:41):
and condos and the whole deal. Because I think, like
Isaac talks about the other stadium being outdated, I think
some of that stuff can be outdated. I'd rather us
maybe keep it on a smaller scale, have an outdoor
facility and just go from there.

Speaker 3 (34:54):
I don't disagree. I've never been to this stadium, but
location matters, absolutely matters. I hate going to Sofi.

Speaker 2 (35:04):
I hate it.

Speaker 4 (35:06):
I go, I still go.

Speaker 3 (35:07):
I just went to Shkira, like I just I go.
But I'm so mad every single time I know I
have to go to Sofi because the location is awful,
and it's an awesome stadium. It's amazing, and there's already
you know, been events happening there, the super Bowl and
all I Location matters, so I hope it's better than
the situation when they put Sofi and even into it.
Don't for the Clippers out in Englewood. Location matters. I

(35:29):
hate driving out there. Ugh, that's all I think about.

Speaker 2 (35:32):
How you get seventy thousand. It's never easy.

Speaker 3 (35:33):
It's never easy.

Speaker 9 (35:35):
We have an update on a sizeable topic of conversation
from this show.

Speaker 7 (35:40):
Now.

Speaker 9 (35:41):
Not only do Fox Sports radios Dan Byer and Monsey
Bolano's disapprove of the recent trend of adult toys being
thrown at WNBA games, but they now have an unlikely
ally the manufacturers of the toys themselves, The company, Naughty
Fox told TMZ.

Speaker 2 (36:02):
N I, quote, that's right, fox yep, that was our one.

Speaker 5 (36:06):
Get your mind out of it.

Speaker 2 (36:07):
I'm sure Naughty Fox stay tuned.

Speaker 9 (36:11):
We're seeing a whole new side of Dan Byer here
on today's show.

Speaker 5 (36:17):
I told TFC, quote, I.

Speaker 2 (36:20):
Never have, By the way, never have never doesn't mean
I kept I have never never had a blunt.

Speaker 3 (36:25):
I've just passed it to the next person period.

Speaker 2 (36:29):
I've never been able to pass it to the nice person.

Speaker 5 (36:34):
There goes my stomach muscles again. They Naughty Fox.

Speaker 9 (36:38):
Fox told Naughty Fox, by the way, not a subsidiary
of Fox Sports Radio. Quote, We're all for fun and freedom,
but throwing these adult toys at w NBA players definitely
crosses a line. Please keep the games sporty and the
toys in the bedroom unquote.

Speaker 2 (36:57):
Meanwhile, the owner of.

Speaker 5 (37:00):
Twisted Fantasies told TMZ quote what happened at those games
was completely inappropriate, putting players and fans at risk, incredibly
disrespectful to these amazing athletes, and frankly not something kids
should be seeing during a family sports event.

Speaker 2 (37:18):
Unquote very much.

Speaker 3 (37:20):
Yes, they hurt us, and then they released that statement.

Speaker 2 (37:26):
Yes again, they should put them in handcuffs, not the
ones with pink lace around them, just real ones. Yes,
put them in the slammer for a whole week, maybe longer, yes,
five days is what Monty said.

Speaker 5 (37:38):
Yeah or else.

Speaker 3 (37:40):
No one's going to learn and no one's going to stop.

Speaker 5 (37:41):
We are going to keep doing it.

Speaker 3 (37:43):
And at this point, like you said, we all said it,
it's disrespectful, it's not funny anymore. Move on.

Speaker 5 (37:48):
I just I just never anticipated that these companies would
be springing for them.

Speaker 2 (37:56):
Was the name of the one company.

Speaker 5 (37:59):
To Naughty Fox and Twisted Fantasy, Lost in Twisted Fantasies.

Speaker 2 (38:03):
Like they've got a PR person, you know, like, like
what other PR do they send out?

Speaker 4 (38:10):
Right?

Speaker 2 (38:10):
Like it's got to be a part time position.

Speaker 5 (38:13):
They probably to create their PR department just for.

Speaker 2 (38:16):
This chat GPT. Just how do I put out a
public statement on and there it is?

Speaker 9 (38:24):
It's good, you know, you know, guys, I honestly have
a couple of other things, but that's this is a
drop the mic subject.

Speaker 5 (38:30):
So that's it for this edition of the press. They
get out there and press that.

Speaker 4 (38:35):
Was the press.

Speaker 2 (38:36):
Don't worry, Isaac Lara Crown is going nowhere. He's gonna
be sticking around as well. Monty Blanio said myself, as
we are in for Cavino and Rich here on Fox
Sports Radio after the Doug Gottlieb Show. It has been
a fun two hours. We've talked a lot of NFL
and we've talked about other things as well, Major League Baseball,
also hitting the stretch run. We're gonna get to that
in a little bit. And there's something that that you're

(38:58):
pretty excited about.

Speaker 3 (38:59):
Everyone should everyone should be okay, you don't get we
don't talk about matchups like this anymore.

Speaker 7 (39:04):
No, And.

Speaker 2 (39:06):
There's something else in Major League Baseball that is happening
that we aren't talking about very much really at all.
On how it's transpired. We'll talk about that coming up.
But she is Manzi Blanos. I'm Dan Bayer in for
Doug Gottlieb today. Find Monty X at Monti Blagos. You
can find me at Dan Bayer on Fox. We're sticking around.
We hope you will as we hope you will still
