Gotlimp Show at Fox Sports Radio iHeartRadio app. Hey, I
(00:22):
hope you had a great weekend. I don't know what
the weather's like. I think it's hot in Los Angeles,
right it was beautiful. I was down in Texas for
a day and a half recruiting and then watching my
daughter ride horses, and then I came back to northeast
Wisconsin and fall is in full rainy yesterday it's cool,
Crisp Wendy Like it's if you said, like, what is fall,
Doug or Alexa, what is fall? They take a picture
(00:46):
of well today. So wherever you are, I hope you're safe, happy, healthy,
and you're enjoying the greatest sports time of the year.
Major League Baseball's playoffs are about to continue on here
with Dodgers and Mets Game two out of the Ravine
will keep you updated on that. Of course, later on tonight,
the Yankees take on the They take on the Guardians
(01:09):
in the stadium, and I think that if you're a
reasonable person, it's not anything bad about Cleveland. Wow, maybe
a little bit, but nothing bad about Cleveland. The whole
world really wants the Yankees Dodgers like the sport needs it.
It needs to happen organically, but the sport needs it.
And we're of the eight games needed to be won
(01:32):
by those two teams combined, we're one in as the
Dodgers dominated the dominated the Mets yesterday in Game one,
and then the rarity is obviously the quick turnaround and
now they're into game two. We also have Monday Night
football tonight, which is Buffalo against the Jets. Buffalo comes
in at three and two after a three and oh start,
(01:54):
they've suddenly looked human. Remember last year they took on
the Jets and Josh Allen lost a game that was
an easy win. The Jets, of course, come off of
a coaching chains. The interim head coaches, their defensive coordinator,
what their offense looks like. You know, Aaron Rodgers didn't
play well in London. Buffalo in needed of a win.
Buffalo is only a one point favorite. We'll give our
picks later on in the hour, but before we get
(02:17):
to looking forward, let's look back by playing a little
love and hate from the weekend.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
What did you love?
Speaker 3 (02:24):
God?
Speaker 1 (02:24):
I love you?
Speaker 2 (02:25):
And what did you hate?
Speaker 1 (02:27):
These Clay is a reminder Rapid Radios there didn't some

Speaker 4 (02:53):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (02:54):
Let's get to some love and hate. Dan Byer, you're
our resident lover. I know it was a great week
for your Buckeyes and obviously not a great Thursday night
for your Seahawks, but I'm sure you found a happy ending.
What do you got?
Speaker 2 (03:07):
I love that this weekend is over.
Speaker 4 (03:08):
That's that's about it, Doug.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
I do love that the.
Speaker 4 (03:17):
Air We had an air conditioning issue in our house
that has been fixed. I don't love the cost of it.
I don't love that, but at least when it is warm,
which by the way, it actually isn't that hot. Dug
In fact, I came into work today overcast in sixty
four here in the San Fernando Valley. Yes, so it
is not It is not that hot as you would think.
(03:39):
I have been able to get some gardening projects completed.
I am not happy that the pure chaos of the
NFL is settled down where everybody.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
That kind of expected to win yesterday ended up winning.
Speaker 4 (03:52):
I don't have a lot of love in the basket today,
just ready to move on and move on and get
to the hate, because that's where a lot of the
fight is going to come from.
Speaker 1 (04:01):
Big Apple, Sam, give me some love.
Speaker 2 (04:09):
Well.
Speaker 5 (04:09):
I could have gone with, you know, teams in college
football continuing their perfect seasons, but I'm not gonna do that.
No pit or Iowa State mentioned today. I'm gonna go
with Kirk Ferrence getting his two hundredth win at Iowa
in a Big Ten school, which makes him second, puts
him second all time in Big Ten history for wins,
and he's only five wins behind Woody Hayes. So Woody
(04:31):
Hayes is at two o five, Kirk's at two hundred.
You could very much catch that record.
Speaker 2 (04:36):
We both looked at as equals, that's for sure.
Speaker 6 (04:38):
Well, okay, but when you're number one.
Speaker 5 (04:40):
I know, Woody Hayes won more Rose Bowls and you know,
national championships, but you're number one, you're still number one.
You're on that Mount rushmore and that's something to love.
That's definitely some of the respect. It's an institution that
he's built.
Speaker 6 (04:51):
Is it a matter of volume? Has he just coached
more games? Is that what that is?
Speaker 1 (04:56):
He's coached forever?
Speaker 5 (04:57):
Right, sure, I mean if you want to, if you
want to reduce it like that. Yeah, it's a volume record.
That's what it is. It's exactly what it does. It's
not exactly what it is. It's tate. You have to
win every year to be at that point. So congratulations,
Yeah two wins. But yeah, but yeah, but yeah, but no,
you're doing yeah, but.
Speaker 1 (05:16):
I am doing. Yeah. But how many years did Woody
Hayes coach at Ohio State?
Speaker 3 (05:24):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (05:24):
What was he that?
Speaker 4 (05:25):
Twenty one years, eighteen years, twenty eight, twenty eight years
at Ohio State and they played fewer games?
Speaker 1 (05:31):
So, and how many years has Kirk Ferance been in
This is twenty sixth so and they played far more games, right.
Speaker 6 (05:38):
You've played a couple more each year, yeah.
Speaker 1 (05:40):
Yeah, so, but if they played a couple more each
year for twenty six years, say you've played two or
three more games over twenty six years, it absolutely is
a volume record. He's been really good. Okay. I am
a defender of Kirk Farns of doing it the right way,
but I don't believe anybody. We'll go back and go
like all time greats. Woody Hayes was only fired not
(06:03):
because they weren't winning, but because he punched a player
on the other team with a helmet on.
Speaker 6 (06:08):
Yep, yep.
Speaker 1 (06:10):
Two. What do you got?
Speaker 4 (06:11):
Just just to clarify Woody Hayes, Uh, is it one
fifty two thirty seven and seven?
Speaker 2 (06:18):
Does that sound right? Sam?
Speaker 6 (06:20):
Right? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (06:21):
Because Kirk is at like one twenty one hundred and
twenty seven big ten weeks.
Speaker 4 (06:24):
Okay, something like that, and one twenty four and eighty six.
I don't know, maybe these numbers aren't correct exactly.
Speaker 5 (06:30):
But I think that was well okay, yeah, maybe that
was the beginning of the season, but he's round one
twenty five and twenty four twenty six something like that.
Speaker 4 (06:38):
What Hayes has two hundred and five career wins, two
oh five sixty one and ten and Kirk Farrence is
two hundred and one hundred and twenty one, so he's
lost twice as many games.
Speaker 6 (06:49):
Yes, so they're in Iowa though, that's pretty impressive.
Speaker 1 (06:54):
Agreed, but not as I mean one hundred, I mean
twice as many losses.
Speaker 5 (07:00):
Yeah, at least he didn't punch a player though, so
oh fair point Sam with the last word.
Speaker 2 (07:07):
Kirby Smart disagrees.
Speaker 1 (07:09):
Now, Kirby Smart, I think he was He was looking
for the for the side judge and that kid got
in his way.
Speaker 5 (07:16):
But anyway, the guy did the kid run into his fist,
his extended fist, Jay stew what he got?
Speaker 6 (07:21):
I disagree with Doug. I thought he was Kirby dumb
on that plan.
Speaker 1 (07:24):
Oh so wow, that was really bad.
Speaker 6 (07:28):
I love that the Dodgers advanced past the Division series
for the first time since was it twenty twenty one?
Twenty twenty a real celebration for the Dodgers on Friday night.
But I got the I got the message from Key
k Hernandez after the game when he decided to cuss
(07:49):
on the air, and then afterwards in the celebration where
Max Muntsey basically mother f't the fan base and said
eighty percent of you thought we would lose. Yeah. I
was one of those eighty percent. And there's a reason
we thought you would lose because you've come up short
so many times Dodger fans have become callous to it.
So congratulatess the Dodgers. And if this bunker mentality of
(08:11):
like nobody believes in us, if this is gonna win
us a title, stay with that, just say, but know
that there was actual thought behind us not thinking you'd win.
And just a side note, the Padres laying down for
the last eighteen innings of that series. If you're going
to be the team that just talks a bunch of
junk and says that Jack Flaherty hit our best hitter
(08:36):
because he doesn't want to pitch to him, if you're
going to be that team, you better not go over
the last two games of the series. That was despicable.
And you know what, I didn't hear any talking after
the game. I heard nothing. They just cowered and laid down.
And I'm guessing that Daniel Jeremiah, for his Wednesday hit,
(08:56):
will do what the Padres did and not show up
for the questions outorgs.
Speaker 1 (09:02):
Oh oh, Okay, I'll get a little love here. I
loved oh you getting their earth kicked by Texas. I
told you it's gonna be really hard for Oklahoma. I'm
telling you this is the story in college football. The
defense is good, their offense is a joke. Remember Dylan
(09:24):
Gabriel was their quarterback. Dylan Gabriel left Oklahoma and they
were like, oh, sweet good, now we can start Jackson EARLD.
They played Jacksonnold for three games, one particularly good. They
moved on from JACKSONARLD. They don't know what they're doing
and they're in a much more difficult league. They have
a much more challenging schedule. Best case scenario, they beat
South Carolina this weekend and beat Maine at home. They
(09:47):
ain't being Old Miss at Ole Miss. They're not beating
Missouri and Columbia. They're not being Alabama at home. They're
not being LSU on the road. Oklahoma is at I believe,
at best, gonna be six and six on the season.
And even though that's not terrible for the SEC, for Oklahoma,
with all their arrogance and success, it will be and
it will cause them to contemplate a coaching change. And
(10:09):
I love the dysfunction within the Sooners because I said it.
They never should have left a big twelve, not just
to not leave Oklahoma State their brothers school behind, but
they would have been the most well funded program in
the league. They could have been dominated every sport and
picked their setup. They didn't out of greed. They took
the easy cash instead of the successful cash. All right,
(10:33):
what do you got there? Oh, let's get to some hate.
Shall we our resident hater Jason Stewart? What do you got?
Speaker 6 (10:44):
Can I defer my not defer? Could we start with
Dan because he promoted a lot of fireworks with his
hate today? Or do you want to go last man?
Speaker 4 (10:54):
Listen, I'm not going to end with a grand finale,
but's it's just of what trans inspired in Eugene on
Saturday night, and Doug, I think what you and Jeff
Schwartz talked about. And Jeff made the point as well
that when you're watching the game and you're taking it
all in in the back of your mind, they're like
twelve team playoffs. Still, this isn't this isn't do or die.
(11:16):
But in the last three losses that Ohio State has
had in games that mattered, because I'm sorry. The Cotton
Bowl did not matter last season. In the last three
games that they have lost, they have had the football
in enemy territory with the opportunity to take a lead
one way or another and have failed. And it is
(11:37):
extremely frustrating. And there's a part of that that tells you,
all right, maybe Ryan Day isn't the problem, as everybody
wants to point out. But when you see Dan Lanning
and the Oregon staff take the twelve men on the
field penalty and go with it and say this was
something that was planned and decided and figured out prior
(12:00):
during that time out, it reflects poorly. Ryan Day was
even calling that they had twelve men on the field,
which makes it seem like he was surprised that they
would and that they would be able to get a break,
not knowing that Oregon knew exactly what they were doing.
I like Ryan Day a lot, and I think that
what they have done in Ohio State has been great,
but it is just extremely infuriating when you lose on
(12:21):
a last second kick to Georgia and the Peach Bowl,
when you have an interception at Michigan last year on
a drive that you were trying to go ahead late
and now we're in field goal range and then get
pushed back out of field goal range and then don't
even have an opportunity to kick the field goal. I
know everybody hates Ohio State and loves it, but I
hated it. It's getting old, and the Mets have taken
(12:45):
a one nothing lead on the Dodgers.
Speaker 1 (12:49):
J STU, you ready to hate.
Speaker 6 (12:51):
I just told my son this today. I said that
thirty three an in streak that the Dodgers have thirty
three scroll in instrict is going to end the first
batter of today's game. I specifically said that to him
out loud, because the Dodgers are getting cute and they're
doing their bullpen game, and I just have a feeling
today is going to go the complete opposite of the
last two. But anyways, I hate Deshaun Watson, and I
(13:16):
feel like I need to profess my hate towards Deshaun
Watson a lot because I have this thing about me
when when people get away with stuff and think they've
gotten away with stuff and then actually get rewarded with
like a contract. Even though you're a bad guy, I
really root for you to fail miserably, and watching him
(13:38):
fail yesterday, I saw this graphic where he's gone like
thirty six straight drives without a third down or something ridiculous.
I don't even know what that means, but it sounds
awful and I'm glad he suffered it, and just I
would just want to remind everybody that Roger Goodell called
him predatory. I know a lot of you are thinking,
(13:58):
why would the NFL's missioner say that about one of
his players. That's how despicable he is, that's how the
how bad the evidence was against him by the women
accused accusing him of what he did. So I can't
wait to see him fail more next weekend.
Speaker 1 (14:14):
Thank you Big Apple. Sam.
Speaker 5 (14:19):
I'm gonna go with my hate of this weekend with
Oregon's tree Shawn hold In spitting in the face of
Ohio State's defensive backs. Davison Igbinosen, good job that was
uh yeah, that one that one was gross. Uh literally
I did.
Speaker 1 (14:33):
A good job in the pronunciation.
Speaker 5 (14:34):
Yes, yes, absolutely, Oh, thank you Davison Igbinosen.
Speaker 6 (14:38):
Yeah. I had to look at that on a few times.
Speaker 1 (14:39):
But who was wearing by the way, wasn't he wearing
like a face shield?
Speaker 2 (14:43):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (14:44):
I think he was. It's like you're now only gonna
spin on a guy, which is dumb and gets you
ejected in the biggest game of your life. But then
you spin a guy who has a face shield on,
so it doesn't work anyway.
Speaker 5 (14:54):
Just needed a squeegee after that, it did, Yeah, and
ultimately Oregon won. But I texted my buddy and he's like, oh,
it's worth it, and I'm like, it's I don't think
it's ever really worth it to spit in another guy's face.
It's pretty disrespectful, pretty very uh, you know, unequivocally disrespectful.
So not worth it even if you end up winning.
(15:15):
That was my hate of the week, spitting in another
guy's phase.
Speaker 1 (15:20):
More sportsmanship, more sportsmanship of of any kind, of any kind. Uh,
I'll tell you what I hate. Can't stand Nick Sirianni.
He's He's George can't stand you. You know, look, dude,
you've acted like you're the greatest thing since slice bread.
You tried to be this wwe heel, and then when
(15:43):
your own people turn on you cause your team hasn't
looked well coached and you beat the lowly Cleveland Browns,
you know, you act like, yeah, I told you so,
and you your mouth to them after you win, like,
what are you doing? Seriously, what are you doing? And
(16:07):
and part of it is you have to understand. You
stoke the flames of easily the most obnoxious fan base
in all of professional football, and like with it, here
comes the downside. When you don't perform, they want your
head too. So I just the whole Nick Sirianni act
has gone. We gotten really tired. Congrats on beating the Browns.
(16:28):
You've done what well everybody does because Shaun Watson stinks.
And the last thing you need to do is talk
ish to the people who cheer for you the most.
Can't STANDJA can't stand.
Speaker 2 (16:43):
You can standa Costanza?
Speaker 1 (16:46):
Yeah, anybody else want to get in any other any
other haters out there? As I do.
Speaker 4 (16:50):
Hate that a lot of the expected winners in the
National Football League did did win yesterday. As as Jason
has talking, We've talked about this show on just the
craziness of the NFL. It almost got too crazy. Yesterday
was just too predictable in how things played out. Everybody
(17:11):
that basically was expected to win won their games and
it was not the surprise. The only surprise we got
was that Dallas didn't show up and that I don't
even think that we were surprised that the Commanders, you know,
played with a competitive game with the Ravens, But there
was nothing that was really shocking or surprising yesterday in
(17:32):
the National Football League status quo completely opposite from what
the first five weeks provided.
Speaker 6 (17:39):
It really stinks because the everybody's survivor picks over the
first five weeks of the series. I think it's been
the biggest week firsts bloodbath in the history of the
NFL survivor pool wise, and then finally after I get
ousted from my redo pool, the.
Speaker 1 (17:56):
Real now everything comes back to reality.
Speaker 6 (17:58):
Now it's predictable.
Speaker 1 (17:59):
Thank you, Yeah, yep, Ben, That is love and Hey.
Speaker 3 (18:06):

Speaker 1 (18:19):
It's the Doug Gottlieb Show, Fox Sports Radio. So the
we talked about this in Love and Hate. Nick Sirianni,
he did shave his head. Bold move right, Bold move
ends up with the first up with the shaved head,
(18:39):
but after the game he starts yelling at his own
fans that were chanting for his head before the game.
Here's Nick Sirianni on his interaction with fans after the game.
Speaker 6 (18:51):
Like he worked interactions, Thank you to the act the game.
Speaker 1 (18:53):
What was going on?
Speaker 7 (18:55):
Just excited, excited to get to win for you, Just
excited to get to win. It's hard to win in
this league. So we're excited to get to win. Our
fans created a couple false starts that really helped us
win this football game. But just excited to get the
win and appreciate, appreciate the the link support.
Speaker 1 (19:16):
All right, here's uh, here's Sirianni. Yesterday. That was yesterday.
This is today.
Speaker 8 (19:23):
What I was really doing. I was trying to bring
energy yesterday, energy enthusiasm yesterday. And I'm sorry and disappointed
on how my energy was directed at the end of
the game. And uh, you know, my my energy should
be all in on coaching, motivating right and celebrating with
our guys.
Speaker 1 (19:44):
Here's Jalen Hurts talking about his coaches interaction with fans.
Speaker 9 (19:48):
I don't know what exactly happened. I've kind of been,
you know, note put on notes on some of it.
I don't really I didn't see anything, but I encourage
him to be himself.
Speaker 2 (19:57):
That's who we use. I don't know who said it, I.
Speaker 9 (19:59):
Know I I spoke to him, you know, and you know,
reassurance of you know, we we we trust who you are,
we trust where you are as a coach, and we
know we can deal with you.
Speaker 1 (20:09):
Yeah. That's that's I mean, the way the player is
telling the coach to be who you are. Here's Sara
Yanni explaining why everyone is overreacting to their play this season.
Speaker 7 (20:19):
Cause y'all making a big deal about it. I mean,
it's like, guys, we're gonna figure it out. We're going
to fix it. We've we've known how to score in
the past, Like.
Speaker 6 (20:26):
We get it. You guys.
Speaker 7 (20:27):
You guys have a job to do, and you're going
to fix it on one thing. And you're gonna be like, oh,
they haven't started fast, they haven't turned the ball over
like we got it, like we we we're gonna do
everything we can do to fix it, like and we don't.
I don't want that to be in their heads.
Speaker 2 (20:39):
That's why I'm.
Speaker 7 (20:40):
Basically telling you guys, all right, we got it, We'll
figure it out. And so, uh, sometimes you get things
in your head and you continue and it kind of
you know, works there. But like the defense started, they're off.
The defense started there, it was ten, it was ten
nothing to start the football game off, and the defense
didn't let up a thing play and so they played there.
(21:02):
So they started fast, right, and we'll get it figured
out on offense. We will get it figured out on often.
Speaker 1 (21:07):
Do you think that was funny? All right? I mean,
I'm good on my Nick Sirianni stuff right.
Speaker 7 (21:18):
Just.
Speaker 1 (21:21):
Again. And I do think that he did a way
better job than anyone could have imagined at first. But
since he lost those coordinators two years ago, it has
felt like a clown show, a reminder that was off there.
Bye week they barely beat the Browns. Now they have
the Giants, who it was an ugly game but could
have well beat the kid well beating the Bengals, but
(21:43):
Giants on the road, Bengals in the road, Jags at home, Cowboys.
Speaker 2 (21:47):
In the road.
Speaker 1 (21:47):
Of course, cowboys look bad at home. They have their
first two with the Commanders, Rams on the road, Ravens
on the road. So they got a tough stretch here, one, two, three, four,
five of their next seven on the road. Dan Byer,
you had something.
Speaker 4 (22:04):
Yeah, this is obviously not new for Nick Sirianni's You've
talked about Doug, but it is new in the sense
of yelling at the home fans. But it doesn't make
it any better considering the other two times I remember
him yelling at fans were once in Indianapolis and he
(22:24):
yelled at the fans after the Eagles beat the Colts.
And this was right after the Colts let go of
Frank Reich as their head coach, and he was yelling
at the Colts fans. This is for Frank Reich. And
I don't think that the Colts fans cared either way.
They stunk, so it was no big deal, and I
just thought it was hilarious. Obviously they have a relationship,
(22:47):
and I can see why he would want to win
for his former coach. But then the thing that he's
proving something by rubbing it into the Colts fans never
made sense to me. Then doubled up on remember last
year when they went to Kansas City and he's in
the tunnel after they beat the Chiefs, to think that
they somehow got revenge for the super Bowl, you know,
(23:09):
the super Bowl defeat, Like that was a regular season
win was payback for a Super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (23:15):
Like, these things just don't They're not equal. They don't.
Speaker 4 (23:20):
The weight of what you're doing and what you've accomplished
is not equal. Just like beating the Browns by four
and then wanting to hear it from the fans and
giving it back to them. It's different if the Niners
came to town and they beat them by twenty five points,
then maybe you've got something to say. But then these
instances they just they don't. They don't match. They're not
(23:43):
even they're not equal at all. They're just completely like weird,
and they they don't match the level of the win
that you just got.
Speaker 1 (23:52):
I agree, I agree at cables, the cables, Sorry, Puddy, Yeah,
go to support the team. Go support the team. Go
support the team. Don't gottlib show Fox Sports Radio. Okay,
So do you think that Max Munsey follows Jason Stewart
(24:15):
on Twitter? Do we what do we think here? Have
you done a search of people who follow you, Jay Suo,
because last week it was it was Daniel Jeremiah who
was clearly following you. I've had a bunch of other people.
Matt Holliday, our guy, he follows you and He's like, man,
remember he came up. He's like, you're kind of hard
on Mookie Betts. And then Max Muntsey's like, yeah, eighty
percent of you thought we weren't gonna win. Okay, grossmiths
(24:37):
over exaggeration, but it felt like he was calling you out, Jays.
Speaker 6 (24:40):
Two, No, I do. I think he was calling me
and my like out. That's what's crazy about this the
specific team. I think. I think this was maybe the
first season that a lot of Dodger fans kind of
joined my way of thinking and that it's not really
acceptable for this team, with all of its resources, to
go to the postseason and lose every time and then
(25:02):
be told by the president of the team that the
the postseason is a crapshoot. That's not acceptable anymore. So
I think that I think the players were starting to
feel some of that negativity and that pressure. And when
Max Mountsey says, literally, U effors, eighty percent of you
efforts thought we were going to lose this series, I
think he was being sincere because I think a lot
(25:23):
of people figured the Padres were gonna win. But like
I said, if they're going to use this us against
the World thing to win a World Series. I'm all
for it. Meanwhile, the Mets are attacking on runs and
base runners.
Speaker 4 (25:34):
Thank you Tyrone Taylor an RBI double for the Mets
second and third, with now two outs in the top
of the second.
Speaker 1 (25:44):
Well, this was the game the Mets had had to win.
But the best starter in the hill. How's Game three
line out? J stew back into a city.
Speaker 6 (25:54):
I don't know. The Dodgers have been keeping their cards
close to their their vest here. I think Yamamoto. I
think may he was scheduled for a Game three.
Speaker 1 (26:03):
He was outstanding in Game five, right, I mean that's
one that earns you, I don't want to say a
pass moving forward, but it definitely earns you a ton
of respect with anybody, a guy who given all that
money and you're like, all right, give you all the money,
but very well, grant only five innings, but a really
good five innings in Game five, and that was, you know,
as tough as start as you're ever going to get against.
(26:24):
As much as I don't like the attitude, I respect
the talent in San Diego and I think you do too.
Speaker 4 (26:31):
I'm going to say one other thing about this are
when we look back at these highlights, and this is
something we talked about last week. How awesome that this game,
which is a huge, huge game, is again being played
under the sun. Like when you're seeing these highlights, I
just think back to the eighties when we look back
at league championship highlights and how many of those were
(26:51):
happening in the daytime. And I don't even remember what
the schedule was at that time, but I just think,
just what a beautiful setting today in Los Angeles seeing
this with the Mets. And we'll see it when we
have the double up games, but I just love to
I love the look of it.
Speaker 2 (27:10):
It's magnificence.
Speaker 6 (27:11):
So foreign though, it's so firn because I mean, and
I'm going to sound really snooty here and snuck up,
but day games in the playoffs are for other markets
like Fox, and these people usually put the Dodgers in primetime.
So it's just so foreign that a game this late
in the season is being played during the day.
Speaker 1 (27:30):
Well, it is Indigenous People Day, which is interesting, right
because it used to be Columbus Day, and Columbus is
like Columbus is the original what's his name? Bill Cosby? Right?
I mean we used to sing a song about eighteen
forty two, or was it not eighteen forty two fourteen
(27:54):
ninety two Columbus ailed the Ocean Blue, right, We like
Columbus was this great dude, and now we're like, dude,
do you know how bad a guy that guy was.
That's that's like the original.
Speaker 6 (28:04):
Bill Cosby, No Cosby and Columbus.
Speaker 1 (28:10):
Yes, yeah, like when you were taught for a long
time like this is a dude, this is a great dude,
and they're like, yeah, actually, really bad person.
Speaker 6 (28:20):
I have a correction to make. It looks like Walker
Bucker's getting the call in game three, Yamamoto.
Speaker 1 (28:25):
Game four, Yamamoto, Yama, Mama, mamto Walker Buehler not good
in his last start? What's your level of trepidation? Yamamoto
against the against the Mets Game three.
Speaker 6 (28:37):
You know what, Walker's start against the Padres was actually encouraging.
Remember a couple of the really bad luck plays happened,
that Machado interference call, yes, and then the shortstop decided
not to throw it to second for a double play.
But I think he battled in that game. Actually, I
think he walked away from that game feeling more encouraged
than discouraged.
Speaker 3 (29:00):

(29:31):
with you anywhere you go. Let's get to the press.
Speaker 6 (29:37):
The press.
Speaker 1 (29:39):
Dan Meyer hit me with as many stories as you
can't go.
Speaker 2 (29:42):
Well, that's not the point of this, Doug. This point
is to have good conversation.
Speaker 4 (29:45):
And I'm curious on what Jason Stewart is thinking as
his Dodgers are currently down six to nothing to the
New York Mets in Game two of the National League
Championship Series after Mark Deento hit a grand Slam for
the Mets in the top half of the second.
Speaker 6 (30:00):
Yeah, we were kind of due, right, you can't go
thirty three consecutive scrollless innings and not be due for this.
I kind of called this. I called this. I thought
they were going to be in for a bad day today,
and it happens.
Speaker 1 (30:15):
You had called game four of them losing. You called
game five losing. We didn't talk before game one. Now
it's game two. Now you're right because you always predicted
the Dodgers are going to lose.
Speaker 6 (30:23):
The cool thing about that is that whenever they lose,
I could, I could say I told you so, and.
Speaker 1 (30:27):
Then when they win, you go. It's just motivated by me.
Speaker 6 (30:30):
Yep, they're motivated by me. Yep, I win?
Speaker 1 (30:35):
What else? Fire?
Speaker 2 (30:37):
Well, that's it.
Speaker 4 (30:37):
How about this tonight in the Bronx, Guardians and Yankees
ALCS Game one that's on TBS. Well, the NLCS is
on Fox right now. Travis Kelcey and Taylor Swift will
be at the game. Something I mentioned earlier. Curious in
your guys' thoughts on that.
Speaker 1 (30:52):
How many? How many gratuitous shots that we see of
Kelsey and Taylor Swift? What do you think? What's the over?
Speaker 4 (31:01):
Probably not as many as you would see in a
football game, not three, not full because not far because
they're both together. I would think that it's different when
Travis is playing and she's in the booth because she's
reacting to Travis, but with them both being together, I
don't think it would nearly rival what you would get
in a football game.
Speaker 1 (31:22):
I Sam, what do you think?
Speaker 9 (31:25):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (31:26):
Big apple? Sam?
Speaker 2 (31:30):
I mean he's loving the Mets.
Speaker 6 (31:32):
Oh six? Nothing. I'm going to say they go to
them five times.
Speaker 1 (31:39):
I'll say, like three or four. I'm gonna go under.
Where are you? Jase Tuo?
Speaker 6 (31:44):
I like the over. I liked whatever you just said.
I'll take the over. I do want to see if
Dan can stay consistent with one of his takes. Remember
last year, Dan came out pretty hard against Kelsey for
going down to so South America.
Speaker 1 (31:58):
But that was that was That was the same South
America to New York Like it's a NonStop flight, especially
on a PJ.
Speaker 6 (32:03):
This is a Yankee game, Dan, are you gonna stay
with your vitriol.
Speaker 2 (32:07):
One hundred percent?
Speaker 4 (32:08):
You've just had a bye week, You've just had the
opportunity to get all of your fun out. This is
basically taking a day of vacation on the first day
of school.
Speaker 2 (32:20):
This is what it is like. I'm sorry, teach, you've
been off for two months. Why are you.
Speaker 4 (32:25):
Taking the first day of school off? It's exactly what's
going on.
Speaker 1 (32:29):
It's a fair point. Okay. Now the counter to it is,
even though he did not play well coming out of
the trip to Argentina or Brazil wherever it was, they
did win the Super Bowl.
Speaker 4 (32:41):
They did, and he was great during that playoff run.
Don't they don't have a big game in week seven?
Speaker 2 (32:46):
Let me check.
Speaker 4 (32:47):
Well, that's right, they're on the road at San Francisco
in a Super Bowl rematch, So why not let's squeeze.
It reminds me of in speaking of school. In addition
to that, I would in high school. I'm like, guess what.
My summer vacation isn't over until the first bell rings
for the first class. So if I'm picking up my
(33:08):
cousin from school at seven forty, guess what, we're still
on vacation. It does not end the Sunday night and
of the last day of school, and with school starting
on Monday, it does not. It starts when the first
bell rings. You're on summer vacation. But guess what, I'm
showing up the first day of school. I'm not taking
(33:30):
another day off. That's the point. Tomorrow would be a
day off for the Chiefs. Anyway, all right. Other news,
some good news for the forty nine ers, speaking of which,
they've opened the practice window for Ricky Pearsall, the rookie
wide receiver and first round pick who was shot prior
to the start of the season.
Speaker 1 (33:50):
Now we'll be.
Speaker 4 (33:51):
Able to practice for the next three weeks and possibly
be active for the forty nine ers in the not
so distant future.
Speaker 1 (33:58):
Crazy right guy gets shot, Now he's back playing football.
It just seems insane, but good for him.
Speaker 4 (34:04):
One other NFL note, Lions defensive end Aiden Hutchinson did
have surgery to repair his fractured fibia and tibas suffered
in yesterday's route to Dallas, and metal rod was inserted
in his leg. It's gonna need to stay in Dallas
for the next few days, but then we'll go back
to Detroit and need six to eight months to fully recover.
Speaker 1 (34:24):
That was nasty, even for me. I have a really
firm stomach on things. That one was a lot and
like by all accounts, like everybody loves to do it.
He plays super hard. And the Lions having what amounts
to kind of a dream start to their season. That
one you can only hope they can try and find
a way to replace him in two, that it doesn't
(34:44):
start like a litany of injuries, because sometimes that's what happens.
One guy gets hurt and then all of a sudden,
two or three guys pop up like that.
Speaker 4 (34:50):
Again, I don't know if we're breaking any NCAA rules
if we are blaming on me and not Doug. The
preseason AP Top twenty five men's colu It's Basketball poll
is out. Kansas is number one, not an unanimous selection,
in fact, not even close, as four other schools received
first place votes. Alabama is second. Two time defending national champion,
(35:14):
Yukon comes in third. Houston and Iowa State round out
the top five.
Speaker 1 (35:18):
Good for Iowa State, I mean, and look what do Houston,
Iowa State, and Kansas all have in common.
Speaker 2 (35:23):
They don't want to face Green Bay in March, that's true.
Speaker 1 (35:26):
But also all in the Big twelve. Good luck in
that league that looks like not fun.
Speaker 4 (35:30):
I liked mind better. Duke and super freshman Cooper Flag
ranked seventh. John Kalapari's Arkansas Razorbacks that's going to take
some getting used to came in sixteenth. Kentucky twenty third
in this preseason ranking.
Speaker 1 (35:46):
And that is the press, get out.
Speaker 2 (35:49):
There in press. That was the press they work.
Speaker 1 (35:52):
Dan Byer, Doug Gottlieb show here on Fox Sports Trade
All right, really quickly, let's get let's get our picks.
On tonight's Monday night football game. Jetsra one point dog
at home. The total is forty one. I like Buffalo
to win this. I still think the Jets offensively nothing
has changed. Play calling has changed some, but I just
(36:13):
think some of the issues are Aaron Rodgers is forty
years old, and I think Buffalo is kind of underachieved.
I like Buffalo to go in and get the win.
I also like it to hit the under though, at
forty one being the total. What do you think, Jase dou.
Speaker 6 (36:26):
I think the Jets will be grounded.
Speaker 4 (36:31):
Dan Byer, I like the home team tonight. Give me
the Jets to win against the Buffalo Bills.
Speaker 1 (36:39):
Well, I mean the home spokesman for for New York
is other than Sam a big apple Sam. What do
you like Bills?
Speaker 6 (36:46):
Give me the Bills?
Speaker 1 (36:47):
Got the Bills stay in New York? Yeah, only team
they actually playing news. Plus, then you have the Yankees
plan over in the Bronx. Check out The podcast is
available now. It's Doug Gotlieb Show, Fox Sports Radio,
