You guys ready for this? I'm gonna tell you something
that you may not have known were about much stuff.
I cheer for Canadian teams in the Stanley Cup playoffs.
I want them to win a cup. I want a
team to win a Cup. I have said on the
show before that if I was a hockey fan, there's

a pretty good chance that probably be a Maple Leafs fan,
the drought everything that comes with them. But I also
have an affinity for the six other teams, specifically the
Winnipeg jack And I'm so glad that Winnipeg got a team,
you know what a decade or so ago, and the
Atlanta Thrashers moved back to Winnipeg after they had previously

left for Phoenix. So the Winnipeg Jets are back. And
last night, sorry Saint Louis, but to have Winnipeg score
at home in a Game seven with under two seconds
left to force overtime, and then in double overtime to

score the game winner. Have that placerup to see. I
feel like the NHL has been the I know Kansas
City did it with soccer, but when you have the
fans gather like a certain spot, I feel that's also
been like a kind of an NHL thing as well.
They were gathering in Winnipeg and you see them celebrating

when it's still light out, and you see them still
there three and a half hours later because it's in
double overtime and it's nighttime. But to see Winnipeg survive
and win Game seven when they were a second and
a half away from being eliminated amazing. And right now
the eight teams left, three are from Canada, so we'll

see if Edmonton, Winnipeg or Toronto can finish it off.
But I was I was very happy to see that.
I wanted Winnipeg to win that series, and they rallied
and scored a couple of late goals, including the one
with the second left, and then won at an overtime.

Cole Perfetti, Yep, he had the game tire No. Two
goals no relation to Chris Purfett here at Fox Sports Radio. Yes,
just adds an eye on the end. You know, he
is not a huge guy. He's only about five to

Forks for a while. He goes, they'd go up to
Winnipeg and party because the drinking age there was eighteen
back in the day.

Grand Forks is basically due south of Winnipeg.

Yes. And then there's Lake Winnipeg, which looks gigantic, probably
beautiful in the summer.

I've been meaning to get up to that that banff.

up there, but a little buggy, you know, Alaska gets buggy,
and a lot of those bugs they just sort of
laid dormant for a while. Big surprise here, guys. My
love of the weekend was Caitlin Clark's return to Iowa
City with the Fever, playing the Brazilian national team that

I assume did not have any of its real stars
because they're probably with their respective w NBA teams, So
it was not a good game, but It was a
lot of fun too, uh, especially before the game started.
A lot of people there. It was a sell out,
you know, tickets sold out real fast. And again, not
a great game. It was like one oh six. It

was a sixty point beat down. But Kaylyn Clark had
some fun shots. He had a thirty six footer which
made it like ninety to thirty three or something. So
it was fun for three quarters and then you know,
it was a good time though.

Any of you guys know what the uh? I don't
know what do you call it? The theme of this
year is for the WNBA because last year was more
than a moment. The alliteration was appreciated, but it was
also kind of a shot at Caitlin Clark. You know,
this league is more than this moment. And what's the
theme this year?

I got nothing continuing the moment.

We admit it was just a moment. Do you think
that's the theme.

I think it's just the moment. I think it's just
the two of us, because again, there were two people
who rose the game of women's basketball, not one, there
were two, So just the two of us.

Jayse dou Russell Westbrook. And I know every listener right
now is like banging on their dashboard because I used
Russell Westbrook as my love just two weeks ago. I

I'm gonna say this again, Doug has an issue with
him as a coach, and he probably is a very
flawed basketball player. But I don't know if there's anyone

that I go out of my way to watch more
than Westbrook. So that's something like.

Yeah, the energy, that the way he disrupts. I know
that's a trigger word for the left. Now he's a disruptor,
he's a but he's so fun to watch. Like again,
you could always bring energy, effort, and hustle to a
game and he he encapulates, capsulates that.

I think the of that, And Doug, I don't know
if you can appreciate this or not from your coaching position.

I can't appreciate anything.

Well, you don't know what I'm gonna say, but there
are people who like college sports more than pros because
it's not as clean, like there's a there's an up
and down with that, and I think like with Russell Westbrook.
There's also the good and the bad with it. Isn't
that appealing as well? Like when was it? I can't
remember the game exactly, but wasn't there a game where

he missed the layup threw the ball away at the end,
Like you're waiting for that moment And I think that
can't appeal to people. I don't know, Jason, if that's
your exact thing, but some people like college because, yeah,
it's eighteen to nine year olds. They're not perfect, They're
gonna make mistakes.

I don't think that's why people like college, but I
do understand what you're saying.

No, there are that is I'm not saying that's the
only reason to hear Dan on that one. There are
some people who prefer the college game to say watching
the pros because it isn't perfect, It isn't as clean,

and watching Steph Curry, and it did just trigger the

four straight threes? Right where in that game he didn't
play well and then you get to the fourth quarter

threes and you're like, well, okay. And last night I
thought he played well, played a good floor game, but
didn't score well, and then all of a sudden, just
a barrage of points and assists and it was incredible.
I I loved every every second of that game, and
just a way in which they handled the pressure of

the moment and smiled through it. Yes, Draymond Green can
be an annoying player. I totally get it. But his
a younger, more annoying version of him was on the
other side, So it made Draymond, for whatever reason, less annoying. Yes,
let's get the way he hated from the weekend. Our

I saw this over the weekend. I know this was
growing through last week, but the news on this item

was hosting shows all weekend. But I want to say
that Abduall Carter from Penn State either asked for phil

there was a discussion within the family and they're like, no,

The keyword is retired. This was after Abduall Carter asked
Lawrence Taylor for number fifty six and was reject did
well done? You know what, I'm going to shove a

weekend and their couple was The couple was bemoaning the
fact that their sixteen year old didn't want to use
the same starter car that their eighteen year old did.
He wanted a better car, he wanted a different car.
And the reason shouldn't you want to make me happy?
And That's what I'm doing. A Carter's thing is gen

you got to still carry the bags. Now Katelyn Clark

do think that I do not think that the animosity
has enough energy and strength to continue to live on.
And to your point, Doug, it's going to be it's
the same similar to Tiger Woods, Like a lot of
the veterans were not keen on him taking over the

I didn't have my A game, and Curtis Strange's saying, like,
you'll learn. I think everybody else learned. And I feel
like that's going to be the case with Caitlin Clark.

different It's a lot like your sophomore year. And you know,
guys to come back for their sophomore year, right, they
just everything slows down, it's easier, there's like a there's
almost an a there's a different level of confidence to her,
and there's just a different level of watch And then
they've surrounded with a much better team too. Right, They've

gone through a complete They've they've gotted that thing and
made a transformation.

And like we see with the Oklahoma City Thunder. I
don't know if this is going to be a normal
thing or a constant thing. But last night, when I
think she was being interviewed, her teammates were around her.

Yep, yeah they were, and she was she was being
pretty deferential.

Sure, but like that's one of the great things about
the Thunder is their postgame local interviews that they do
and the team standing around and having a good time.
Could you imagine this happening a year ago of the
team standing behind Caitlin Clark while because everybody wants to
talk door, No, I think there's absolute different vibe.

Yes, Doug, Yes, And you watched some of that game,
I mean have you noticed any tweaks to her shot,
because I mean, yeah, she.

Changed, she changed some during the season last year, and
then during her break she was she was she was
shooting the ball right like we talked about, she was
shooting the ball more on the left side of her
head when she was getting ready to she had kind
of and and now it's more underneath the basketball. So
and she's uh four six from three. Yeah, and then
you know what what you're what you do is what

you're taught to do. Is you know, the further out
you shoot, you can lower it some instead of getting
it over lower you have a little bit more power.
But yeah, I mean she's gonna be she should be
better across the board, and her team is better. So
but it's just more that like who on a Sunday
in May is watching at w NBA preseason game. I
never would have ever. Then I was like, I gotta

up there, didn't need assistant assistants. Popovich did say the
team is total faith and new head coach Mitch Johnson,
as they believe he'll continue doing the things they have
done previously in the organization.

Uh, you know, it's obviously anytime people age, it can
be hard to watch the stroke thing. I mean it's
really interesting, right, like you can make complete and full
recovery from a stroke. But he he did not, I mean,
he did not look well.

Did that make you a little sad?
Speaker 5 (34:52):
Doug seeing Manu and Tim flanking him, and they all,
you know, Tim Duncan's got a little great.
Speaker 1 (34:56):
And honestly remind me of so coached that essentially die
of a stroke. Now he had a stroke and it
was debilitating, and I was just looking at my phone.
This weekend I was with another former former player at
OSU and showing them about how there's like eleven years
ago we went and visited coach and he was you know,
he couldn't really speak, So, yeah, it brings up all
(35:16):
those memories.
Speaker 2 (35:17):
It's tough. I think I think everybody can relate to
it in terms of at some point in your life,
maybe a family member or a friend goes through something
that maybe you haven't you haven't seen them in a while,
and they're not the same person. I felt it's a
very relatable and personal experience, and it was great to
see him, even if he was walking slowly and maybe
(35:38):
not speaking as he normally would. Doug, your point about
the stroke is absolutely correct. But I think in seeing
that video, yeah, your heart does kind of drop a
little bit because it is tough to see. But I
think it's something that's very very relatable in our everyday lives.
Sure you Jah Jazz have Senate coach Will Hardy to
a contract extension keeps him in Salt Lake. Doug through

Well widely regarded as a brilliant coach. Brilliant coach and
obviously they're going to go through a bit of a
rebuild and we'll see what they get in the draft

have an affinity for the six other teams, specifically the
Winnipeg jack And I'm so glad that Winnipeg got a team,
you know what a decade or so ago, and the
Atlanta Thrashers moved back to Winnipeg after they had previously

left for Phoenix. So the Winnipeg Jets are back. And
last night, sorry Saint Louis, but to have Winnipeg score
at home in a Game seven with under two seconds
left to force overtime, and then in double overtime to

score the game winner. Have that placerup to see. I
feel like the NHL has been the I know Kansas
City did it with soccer, but when you have the
fans gather like a certain spot, I feel that's also
been like a kind of an NHL thing as well.
They were gathering in Winnipeg and you see them celebrating

when it's still light out, and you see them still
there three and a half hours later because it's in
double overtime and it's nighttime. But to see Winnipeg survive
and win Game seven when they were a second and
a half away from being eliminated amazing. And right now
the eight teams left, three are from Canada, so we'll

see if Edmonton, Winnipeg or Toronto can finish it off.
But I was I was very happy to see that.
I wanted Winnipeg to win that series, and they rallied
and scored a couple of late goals, including the one
with the second left, and then won at an overtime.

Cole Perfetti, Yep, he had the game tire No. Two
goals no relation to Chris Purfett here at Fox Sports Radio. Yes,
just adds an eye on the end. You know, he
is not a huge guy. He's only about five to

Grand Forks is basically due south of Winnipeg.

beautiful in the summer.

up there, but a little buggy, you know, Alaska gets buggy,
and a lot of those bugs they just sort of
laid dormant for a while. Big surprise here, guys. My
love of the weekend was Caitlin Clark's return to Iowa
City with the Fever, playing the Brazilian national team that

I assume did not have any of its real stars
because they're probably with their respective w NBA teams, So
it was not a good game, but It was a
lot of fun too, uh, especially before the game started.
A lot of people there. It was a sell out,
you know, tickets sold out real fast. And again, not
a great game. It was like one oh six. It

was a sixty point beat down. But Kaylyn Clark had
some fun shots. He had a thirty six footer which
made it like ninety to thirty three or something. So
it was fun for three quarters and then you know,
it was a good time though.

Any of you guys know what the uh? I don't
know what do you call it? The theme of this
year is for the WNBA because last year was more
than a moment. The alliteration was appreciated, but it was
also kind of a shot at Caitlin Clark. You know,
this league is more than this moment. And what's the
theme this year?

I think it's just the moment. I think it's just
the two of us, because again, there were two people
who rose the game of women's basketball, not one, there

him as a coach, and he probably is a very
flawed basketball player. But I don't know if there's anyone

that I go out of my way to watch more
than Westbrook. So that's something like.

Yeah, the energy, that the way he disrupts. I know

you could always bring energy, effort, and hustle to a
game and he he encapulates, capsulates that.

if you can appreciate this or not from your coaching position.

are people who like college sports more than pros because

and down with that, and I think like with Russell Westbrook.

Dan Byer Doug san Antonio. Spurs president Greg Popovich spoke
publicly today for the first time since suffering a stroke
in November. He has since stepped aside his head coach,
doing so last week, but he'll remain on his team.
President Sammy may have to pop down the music a
little bit because the audio is a little bit echoey
on this, but we heard from Greg Popovich again for
(33:49):
the first time publicly since early November.
Speaker 8 (33:51):
Timmy and Lono. Of course we've been here for all
of my workouts here at the Rock. They say it's
because they love me and they want to be there
in case I fall or catch me and that sort
of thing.
Speaker 2 (34:03):
I call it payback.
Speaker 8 (34:06):
Say you have the rehab people new ideas of things
to do to me, so you're not fooling anybody.
Speaker 5 (34:12):
Especially you to me.
Speaker 2 (34:15):
Flanked by Manu Ginobili and Tim Duncan, who helped Popovich
to the stage, had at a slower time walking getting
up there, didn't need assistant assistants. Popovich did say the
team is total faith and new head coach Mitch Johnson,
as they believe he'll continue doing the things they have
done previously in the organization.
Speaker 1 (34:34):
Uh, you know, it's obviously anytime people age, it can
be hard to watch the stroke thing. I mean it's
really interesting, right, like you can make complete and full
recovery from a stroke. But he he did not, I mean,
he did not look well.
Speaker 2 (34:51):
Did that make you a little sad?
Speaker 5 (34:52):
Doug seeing Manu and Tim flanking him, and they all,
you know, Tim Duncan's got a little great.
Speaker 1 (34:56):
And honestly remind me of so coached that essentially die
of a stroke. Now he had a stroke and it
was debilitating, and I was just looking at my phone.
This weekend I was with another former former player at
OSU and showing them about how there's like eleven years
ago we went and visited coach and he was you know,
he couldn't really speak, So, yeah, it brings up all
(35:16):
those memories.
Speaker 2 (35:17):
It's tough. I think I think everybody can relate to
it in terms of at some point in your life,
maybe a family member or a friend goes through something
that maybe you haven't you haven't seen them in a while,
and they're not the same person. I felt it's a
very relatable and personal experience, and it was great to
see him, even if he was walking slowly and maybe
(35:38):
not speaking as he normally would. Doug, your point about
the stroke is absolutely correct. But I think in seeing
that video, yeah, your heart does kind of drop a
little bit because it is tough to see. But I
think it's something that's very very relatable in our everyday lives.
Sure you Jah Jazz have Senate coach Will Hardy to
a contract extension keeps him in Salt Lake. Doug through

Speaker 1 (36:00):
Well widely regarded as a brilliant coach. Brilliant coach and
obviously they're going to go through a bit of a
rebuild and we'll see what they get in the draft
or how they do it.
Speaker 2 (36:10):
He would have been Celtics head coach if he would
have been there right when Udoka was ousted. Sure, but
because he left for Utah, he was in Utah. So
Joe Miszula's gig from there on out?
Speaker 6 (36:21):
What up? Unto? I'm a duca. He just can't beat
the Warriors, right, He and Dylan Brooks have never beaten
the Warriors in the series.

A report from ESPN's as Michigan is expected to suspend
head football coach Aran More for two games in connection
to the conter Stallion's investigation is a little bit Oh yeah, yes, absolutely.

He will miss Central Michigan and Nebraska. He's gonna miss

team in. You know, he'll coach there against New Mexico
in week one, coach there against Oklahoma in week two.
But then weeks three and four is when you gotta
kind of step aside. That's the punishment handed down.

And the rams of quarterback Matthew Stafford finalized his new deal.
Will get forty four million dollars this upcoming season. If
he's on the roster next year at the new league year,
