Speaker 2 (00:46):
You played this weekend to my understanding, I think, yeah, I.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
Mean, what do you mean you're understanding? I thought you
have like a tracker on your phone. Then when Caitlin
Clark plays, your phone goes off and immediately turn and
find it, and then you give us the entire rundown
of what happened in her game on Monday.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
Well, outside of the exhibition game against the Brazil team
at Carver Hockey Arena, I've tuned out a little bit.
Speaker 1 (01:12):
Whoa, whoa, I know, whoa.
Speaker 3 (01:15):
I mean, I'm not watching you know what the w
NBA season tips off?
Speaker 4 (01:18):
We do?
Speaker 1 (01:19):
We know? Is it this weekend?
Speaker 5 (01:21):
No?
Speaker 3 (01:21):
I think it's in a week or so. But that's Bandwagon,
That's Sam is Bandwagen right now. Sorry, I'm not watching
all these exhibition games. Yeah, why would you?
Speaker 1 (01:31):
Which? I thought you were really in on the process
and the new build.
Speaker 3 (01:35):
Of a week. A week from tomorrow is the opening
night for the Fever opening day, So I think it's
a week from tonight that because I think that there
are real games on Friday, May sixteenth.
Speaker 1 (01:47):
So will people have fever fever? They should be. They
should be sponsored by Little Caesars that has pizza pizza.
Pizza Pizza has fever fever.
Speaker 6 (01:58):
I like that.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
There you go.
Speaker 3 (01:59):
You know, I love I love the NFL.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
Two degree Spear School of Business, Oklahoma State University.
Speaker 2 (02:03):
What I was just saying, I'm sorry, very very repressive
resume there. I was saying that I love the NFL too.
I just don't I don't care for preseason games.
Speaker 1 (02:10):
I'm a mess, just just my.
Speaker 3 (02:14):
Caitlin Clark fandom is definitely in my heart.
Speaker 1 (02:17):
Yes, in your heart.
Speaker 3 (02:19):
It sounds a little bandwigonish to me today with not
knowing he's.
Speaker 1 (02:22):
Really busting chops today, really busting chops today. I mean,
he's kind of going after you there, Sam. I think
you can strike back. You can smack back whenever you
would whenever you would like.
Speaker 3 (02:32):
He has some evidence there, so it's okay. They played
against the Atlanta what dream tomorrow?
Speaker 1 (02:40):
I do have dream.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
I was called them the fever her. Yeah, it's like
rough riders in the cfl Indiana fever, Atlanta fever. But
I caught myself, I do have.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
A dream Indiana fever. So does that mean it's like
night sweats? Is that what that is?
Speaker 3 (02:55):
Fever dream fever, night sweats anxiety?
Speaker 1 (02:58):
Oh yeah yeah, Jay stew your Dodgers right, kind of
whole humming their way through where they've I think they've
lost three out of five. I sawfter win the first
two against Spraves, four against the Diamondbacks Tory Lavello, which
we were reminded of, Like all these things we talked
(03:19):
about all week, there's a manager's name that we did know.
How are your Dodgers doing.
Speaker 6 (03:26):
I want to say, they're in first place. Here's the
problem for the rest of the league is that they're
in first place and eighty percent of their starting pitchers
are hurt. They saw where in Kershaw had a good
minor league rehab start. He's on the mend. Don't know
when show Hayes going to return, but I think it
speaks volumes to this, the depth of this roster when
(03:50):
you could be in first place and suffer the losses
that they have and also keep this in mind, always
important over the offseason, and I got a couple of
text messages from friends saying, I mean, they already have
starting pictures. Why are they getting Blake snow? Isn't there
enough as too many starting pitchers? And then like eighty
(04:12):
five percent of their pictures are out. So that's that's
why they did.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
Yeah, pitching breaks down. Pitching breaks down? Okay, Dan Byer,
what's on the what's on for golf this weekend?
Speaker 3 (04:23):
So the golf for me not happening on Saturday. I'll
be able to maybe get out and do some work.
Last night. I will say this. I got my son
clubs for his birthday, his first like set. We had
given him some you know what are they plastic golf
clubs and stuff that you have around the house, but
(04:43):
bought them like a real set. And last night we
went to the h went to the club, went to
the driving range, and he hit balls for the first
time and it was amazing. It was better than I
could have ever imagined.
Speaker 1 (04:56):
Yeah, till he dropped that F bomb when he when
he just snapped, when he stopped.
Speaker 6 (04:59):
At none of that.
Speaker 3 (05:01):
It was Oh, it was It's one of those moments
that I had always wondered in my life and.
Speaker 1 (05:07):
What that can be like.
Speaker 3 (05:08):
Yeah, and so.
Speaker 1 (05:09):
Like golf my son on Sunday too. I'm pretty fired
up about it.
Speaker 3 (05:12):
Last night it happened for the first time. So at
four years old, we waited til, you know, we didn't
go out until like right before sundown because then everybody
was kind of gone and so we could just have
the area and I didn't want anybody to hit or
anybody to be bothered. So it was just us and
my wife came by, she watched them, so it's just
the three of us, and it was it was magnificent.
(05:33):
But so that's my Big Golf highlight that's already happened
this weekend. But Truest Championship is it's a signature event
on the tour, so it's got a strong field playing
it in Philadelphia because they usually played at Quail Hollow.
But next week Qail hollows hosting the PGA. But Rory's
in contention, so it should be a good week in Philadelphia.
Speaker 1 (05:50):
Fork TV, lets you guys a little bit in so
this tonight in Green Bay, Nick, how do you say
his last name? Excuse me?
Speaker 6 (06:02):
Nick?
Speaker 3 (06:02):
Uh No?
Speaker 1 (06:04):
Nick bar crole Barghatsy.
Speaker 3 (06:08):
Oh stand up comedian Nate state Barga.
Speaker 1 (06:13):
I said, Nate Bargatsy is performing. So I'm a little
torn here night, right because I got you got Nick?
Celtics Game three in New York in New York.
Speaker 3 (06:25):
Well, I've got I've got some good news for you, Doug.
I got you tonight.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
Don't you don't have it tonight?
Speaker 5 (06:31):
Right?
Speaker 1 (06:32):
The Celtics, Cleveland Indie Indian tonight, don't care. I have
a friend who's an assistant with Cleveland, but they don't
really care. Denver, Oklama City I like, but that's late
so I'll be able to catch that again, I've never
I haven't been to an arena stand up comedy act before.
(06:52):
Is there an opening act? Do you do a is
there an encore? How long does he go? All these things?
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (07:00):
There should be an opening act for sure, maybe even
one or two. An opening comedian, Yeah, there should be absolutely.
Speaker 1 (07:07):
Is it like a concert he doesn't go on till
nine anyway or nine thirty anyway.
Speaker 3 (07:10):
I don't know. I've never been to one, but that's
pretty gutsy to go in there and just to be
like it's just me, especially too, because and Jason, you
know much more about the comedy world than I do.
Most comedians have about maybe an hour like that would
be like the their key thing. So you do want
to make it an evening, so you want to be there.
You want to at least provide them with ninety minutes
(07:32):
or two hours of stuff. And to do it for
that long, I think you would still need somebody to
be out there plus gets the crowd going. And if
they aren't, you know, if they're funny, even bet, you know, awesome,
good they're laughing crowd. That's what I would guess. I
would be very surprised if there wasn't.
Speaker 6 (07:49):
And by the way, Dan Byer himself has been a
part of a stand up act. I went to see
j Moore at the Brea Improv or Irvine Improv. I forget.
It was the first time I'd ever seen Buyer in person,
was on stage doing a comedy bit. First time I've
ever seen him in person. I've heard about the great
Dan Buyer for years, but the first time putting a
(08:10):
face to the.
Speaker 3 (08:11):
Voice in fact. So you know, we worked in the
same building, we didn't work together. There was a time
when Jason told Jay Moore's producer at that time, Greg Tooey.
Jason said, hey, give Dan. Tell Dan to give me
a call, and there was a comedian on by the
name of Dan. So Greg goes to me, Hey, Jason
Stewart wants you to give him a call, and so
(08:34):
I go, hey, Jason, I go, yeah, this is Dan Bayer.
Greg Tooey told me you wanted to call out of Jason.
I don't even know if you remember that. That may
have been our first interaction, but by Jason not wanting
to talk to me.
Speaker 1 (08:47):
Yeah, just like Jason want to talk to it different Dan.
Speaker 3 (08:50):
Yeah, because there was a comedian by the name of
Dan on the show.
Speaker 6 (08:52):
Does a great Mark Wahlberg impression that Dan.
Speaker 3 (08:56):
If you recall so that that was our first Yeah,
I was on stage, did it a couple of times?
Speaker 1 (09:02):
Okay, So Jay Stu did. Do they have an opening
act for a stadium tour?
Speaker 6 (09:06):
I'm looking, I would say, undoubtedly. I'm looking right now,
and I'm guessing somebody's going to like introduce him. Well, okay,
so this is May ninth at the Rest Center Big
Dumb Eyes World Tour. It says, I don't even know
if these are bands or if these are people, and
maybe stage names. Wage War and Lakeview are listed as
special guests opening for Nate Bargatsi in Green Bay. They
(09:27):
are part of the stake Dumb Eyes World Tour.
Speaker 1 (09:29):
So I don't have to be there right at seven o'clock,
is what you're saying.
Speaker 2 (09:34):
Probably not doors open at six, show starts at seven.
But yeah, I guess those are I don't know what
they are, but they're opening for him. They're special guests.
Speaker 1 (09:43):
We can google.
Speaker 3 (09:44):
Okay, I've been looking at well.
Speaker 1 (09:48):
The the good thing about a comedy show is he
doesn't it's all.
Speaker 3 (09:52):
These are bands opening for him.
Speaker 1 (09:53):
I guess Yeah, so he's not going on till like nine, right,
because you got to clear off the stage. You gotta
get all the equipment off right. And then if you've
ever seen his stuff, I feel like it's theater and
around like he's right in the middle. I don't know,
gonna be interesting to see. My guess is he hasn't
gone until later. Just to guess.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
Yeah, I would say that each of these musical groups
Lakeview isn't Is it a duo or it looks like
a band, I don't know, I'm looking, but they're gonna
at least do a half hour set.
Speaker 3 (10:22):
I think Max Power is going to be there, Yeah,
Max Max Power will be there as well for opening
for Nick Bargatzi. Max Ac will also be appearing.
Speaker 1 (10:33):
Do we want the Celtics to come back and win
the series?
Speaker 5 (10:36):
No?
Speaker 1 (10:38):
Why because they won last year?
Speaker 2 (10:39):
They won last year. They're the Celtics and the Knicks
haven't won anything in a long time.
Speaker 1 (10:45):
Okay, but okay, and I.
Speaker 3 (10:47):
Like orange and blue more than green and white.
Speaker 1 (10:50):
Ja Stu, what about you?
Speaker 6 (10:51):
Whatever gives the Nuggets the best chance on one of
the NBA Championship.
Speaker 1 (10:56):
Nothing has The Nuggets have to get past the Thunder
then have to get past I don't know who. Probably
the Wolves would be my guess with Steph Curry still
out because of injury. But that doesn't really pertain to this.
Is this series? Do you want to see the Celtics
come back? Dan? Let me ask you, do you want
(11:16):
to see the Celtics come back and win?
Speaker 6 (11:17):
No?
Speaker 3 (11:18):
I don't cheer for the Celtics ever. No, that's not
cheer for the Knicks. I cheer for the I cheer
for the Celtics and they play the Lakers. So like
in twenty ten, I wanted Boston to win that series.
Speaker 6 (11:31):
The thing that I wanted to know And I have
to give credit to First Take on this because it
makes you think, so there, I think they uh. The
second segment of First Take today was this this question,
is Game three a must win for the Knicks? And
you're thinking, WHOA, that's out of the box. Because of
course it's a Game three, it must win for the Celtics. Everyone,
(11:53):
that's a given. But is it a must win for
the Knicks? Implying if you let them back in this thing,
are they going to lose the series? Because I think
the Celtics are still favored or the odds are even
to win the series.
Speaker 1 (12:06):
Well, but the Knicks are five and a half point
favorites Tomorrow night, aren't.
Speaker 3 (12:09):
They Yes, Tomorrow night, but it's afternoon. By the way,
it's a three thirty tip tomorrow afternoon in Boston.
Speaker 1 (12:15):
I like afternoon Nick games. Have you ever noticed the
difference in the fans and what they're wearing, Like, if
it's during the week, everybody's wearing black because people come
from work, Wall Street, whatever, you're wearing dark. Whereas if
it's in the afternoon on a Saturday, as it will
be tomorrow, people will be wearing Knicks T shirts. Next
Jersey's much more white T shirts and stuff. Have you
(12:39):
guys ever noticed that?
Speaker 3 (12:41):
I didn't. I will watch tomorrow for checking out.
Speaker 1 (12:44):
Check it out tomorrow. Totally different crowd on an afternoon
versus a weeknight evening at Madison Square Garden.
Speaker 3 (12:52):
I don't think it's a must win for the Knicks
because I don't think this series has momentum. It's it's
not been a momentum series. Maybe within the game there's
been some momentum, but it's it's not been a momentum series.
So like what we saw in Game one, was a
comeback by the Knicks, yep. And do they carry that
momentum with the positivity No, the Celtics, Okay, we blew
(13:15):
that lead. We're gonna come out, we're gonna show our stuff. Well,
obviously it wasn't momentum because it happened to them again.
And so I think I think each game is an
individual game. And that's how I actually feel in the
Minnesota Golden State series because remember when we talked yesterday
with the schedule and how it's set out with Steph's hamstring. Realistically,
(13:36):
I think game five could be a bit of a stretch.
So you just have to you got to win one
of these next two so you can get them back
for Game six at Golden State. Have momentum even if
you're down three to two, and then force them in
that individual I don't think it's I don't think it's
a momentum series right now.
Speaker 1 (13:52):
Uh yeah. Look, I think that the thing that Knicks
have going for him is no matter matter how many
of they're down the Celtics, if the second they make
a run, the Celtics have to be like, here we
go again, here we go again. And if the Celtics
can win and have a fifteen point lead and put
(14:13):
them away. Maybe they can put some of that In
terms of mentality to rest, I agree with you that
it's not the series momentum, But if it gets to
three to zero, like that's a really hard mental hurdle
for anybody to jump anybody. And despite the fact that
four to one is a gentleman's sweep and it could
(14:34):
still well happen, I don't. I don't. I wouldn't go
as far as saying it's a must win, but it
becomes much much much more likely of a comeback obviously
if they if they win to get I do. I
think it changes the tone of the series.
Speaker 3 (14:51):
So Jason, you had the note, did you just say
the numbers? Because yesterday and I bet online had the
Celtics as minus one fifteen in the series and the
Knicks were minus one oh five, So it's I mean
Celtics were still slight favorites despite being overwhelming favorites at
the start of it.
Speaker 6 (15:08):
There was a there was an actual note in the
source that I read that despite that early favorite yesterday,
I think the odds have evened. I think they're both
at one ten or one fifteen, either way it paints
a picture. The Steelers are still the odds on favorite
to win the East of all the East teams remaining,
(15:28):
the Steelers, Steelers, Celtics. Okay, yeah he did say Steelers.
Yeah he did, he did, but I've cleaned it up
an edit. I never said that, no problem.
Speaker 3 (15:39):
I just think there hasn't been something that Boston has
done that the Knicks can't counter or haven't. I mean,
correct me if I'm wrong.
Speaker 1 (15:50):
When the Knicks haven't been up twenty Celics have, but
the Knicks have come back and won.
Speaker 3 (15:55):
Sure that they've locked them down, They've held them without
Like there's never been a point where you're like, Okay,
well if Tatum gets the ball and they just go
one on one with Tatum, they really haven't figured out
a way to stop that. Like that hasn't happened either.
Like I think each of these games, So even though
the Knicks are favored in this game three, I just
I think every single game is an individual game.
Speaker 1 (16:18):
I know I get it, and I technically agree with you,
but if you're down three games to none, feels like, oh,
I mean, no one's ever come back from three games
to none in the NBA.
Speaker 3 (16:28):
Sure, but that yes, but that is that's not about momentum.
I think that's more about history and just these teams
are evenly matched, and to think that you're going to
beat a team four times in a row, it's just
not going to happen when you're that evenly matched.
Speaker 1 (16:44):
Right, So doesn't that mean that it's a I don't
know if it's a must win, but you.
Speaker 3 (16:50):
I think if the Knicks lose tomorrow, I still think
they have a chance, a good chance to win this
series because I still think they could go to Boston
in Game five and win.
Speaker 1 (16:58):
And that's what signifies the must win?
Speaker 7 (17:00):
Do you no, it's it's what's Yeah, what signifies is
if the Knicks lose tomorrow, which would make it a
must win, they would make me think that Boston's back
in the series.
Speaker 3 (17:10):
And I don't necessarily believe that. I think that they're
just Boston would win at New York. I don't think
it would change the momentum. I don't think it would
change anything because I think every time that the Knicks,
if they're healthy, will tip it up in this series,
whether it's a Game five in Boston or a Game
seven in Boston, that they will have a chance to
win that game.
Speaker 8 (17:28):

Speaker 1 (17:41):
It's Doug Alim Show Fox Sports Radio. Mark Stein, for
my entire professional lifetime has been covered the NBA. He
writes a substack called the Stideline, and he kind of
spends some time with this year right in the heart
of the NBA playoffs. You know, this round the playoffs,
all the road teams won. The Knicks had come from
behind in both the first two games in Boston. Which
(18:04):
of these series so far has surprised you the most.
Speaker 4 (18:09):
You have to say, Nick, Celtics, because with Cleveland, Okay,
there is an injury component in that series. However, the
Calves were up by seven with inside fifty seconds left
in Game two, without three of their top seven or
eight guys and still lost. So to me, we have
(18:29):
a seven point lead with forty eight seconds to go
and you don't close. You can't really bring up the
injuries at that point. If you were good enough to
get a seven point lead, you have to finish a
three possession game. There but look the Knicks coming back twice,
the Celtics looking so shaky and nervy. I mean, they
(18:50):
just won the championship, Like, why are you guys looking
fragile now? So you know, I think there are still
plenty of twists and turns in that. I don't think
the Knicks are sweeping the Celtics and Boston.
Speaker 9 (19:03):
Is too good. But for the Knicks to be able
to for they guess to be able to win two games.
Speaker 4 (19:12):
In Boston, that that is pretty high on the surprise meter.
Speaker 1 (19:15):
I would I would agree, especially when you're up twenty,
when you when you're when you're up twenty.
Speaker 4 (19:22):
Well you look, you've coached many more high level games
than me. What did you think even just we haven't
even talked. I mean the thunder in Game one, fouling
intentionally when Denver had no timeout and Yokich is at
the table, I mean, like you intentionally foul and put
Yolkic back in the game and they ended up losing
Game one. I mean the second round has been a
(19:44):
circus and a fun circus. I mean, you there's been
surprises everywhere you look.
Speaker 1 (19:49):
Let me let me play for you something that Lebron
James said, So Lebron's now talking on his podcast about
the end of their season. This is Lebron when he
talked about the matchup of Minnesota.
Speaker 5 (20:04):
I've had all those emotions, you know, to the point
where it's like, you know, we entered the season well,
but like you said, you know, when it comes to
the postseason man matchups, sometimes it doesn't determine how well
of a regular season you had. You know, it's the matchups.
And we ran into a damn good matchup. A team
that's been battle tested, a team that's hungry, a team
(20:27):
that a lot of a lot of youth but also
experienced at the same time, and another team that's trying
to make the next step. And you know they were
a worthy opponent, that's for sure.
Speaker 1 (20:37):
So there was this weird like, hey, it was just
a bad matchup. So look they've lost, and I actually
agree with him. I actually think it was a bad matchup.
A bunch of my MBA friends said the same. But
they lose in first it's the ah, my knee. My
knee couldn't have gone anyway. Right then he's asked about
(20:58):
their future with the Lakers, and he's he's like, you
got to ask Luke about that one. But hey, last
time anybody said what they need to add was Anthony Davis.
He's gone. Then when he's asked about the series, now,
there's just a bad matchup. Sometimes just a bad matchup.
Let's your read on what's going on with Lebron post playoffs.
Speaker 4 (21:20):
Yeah, look, I was actually in the room for the
Anthony Davis comment and it was funny. But like you know,
I think Lebron could have safely said something there and
said so without worry without worrying about being traded. I
don't think Lebron is going to be traded.
Speaker 9 (21:36):
So it was a funny line. Everybody in their laugh.
Speaker 4 (21:39):
But look the comment you referenced that he gave to ESPN,
I thought was, you know, a pretty strong comment from Lebron, and.
Speaker 9 (21:50):
I think he does bee the situation. This is Luka
Doncic's team.
Speaker 4 (21:54):
Now, Luka Doncic is the future of the Lakers, and look,
it's the Lakers, so expectations are always going to be
ridiculously sky high. I thought they had a puncher's chance.
I think we discussed that before. I thought they had
a puncher's chance to make some noise and win a
round or two because Luca, Lebron and Reeves as a
(22:15):
playmaking trio, having three guys who can have a moment
and beat them and you know, really cause trouble for
the opposing defense. I thought they could be a handful.
But look, Minnesota is very underrated. Minnesota is a very
good team. The Wolves went seventeen and four to finish
(22:36):
the season and all that got them was six. They
had to go seventeen and four just to get out
of the plane. The West was so deep, you know,
Memphis finished eighth, was forty eight wins. So I think
the other thing about Minnesota is they're a top ten
They were a top ten team both offensively and defensively
this season that nobody talked about. The only other teams
(22:58):
that were top ten in both categories were the three
sixty win teams. So I do think Minnesota is very
good and underrated. And Rudy Gobert turned into Moses Malone
in Game five. But the comments that really stuck out
to me is Lebron saying Lebron basically publicly acknowledging that
(23:21):
the Luca trade was made for the future. I think
it shows he clearly understands this. You know, the Lakers
with when it was Lebron and Ad. If those two
guys play to their peak and their max, the Lakers
could be a playoff problem. But I mean, Lebron is
in year twenty two and Ad is in his thirties.
Now the Lakers have a future they didn't have when
(23:44):
they woke up on February first. I mean, they have
a long term runway now because lucas there, They've got
to put a team around them. The team that they
have does not compliment him, and you know, he needs
a rim running center for starters, and they don't know.
Speaker 9 (24:00):
They didn't have big men that they were even willing
to put in the game in Game.
Speaker 4 (24:03):
Four, in Game five, So the roster is a long
way from being tailored to Luca's specifications. But Lebron sees
it and admitted it to ESPN that this team is
now going to be built around Luca. And you know,
I think I think that was the answer that I
really focused on.
Speaker 1 (24:23):
It has to feel a little bit better around Dallas
considering how that thing ended, right, I mean, with and
and even JJ Reddick talking about, hey, you know, we
got to get into championship shape. I mean, that was
a direct shot across the bow to Luca, was it not?
Speaker 4 (24:41):
I mean I think, yeah, you could probably take it
that way. But the day after that press conference, JJ
Reddick and Rob Polinka were meeting with Luka Doncic and
his chief brand officer and business manager Laura Beth Seeger,
and they were, you know, caught by the La paparazzi
(25:03):
leaving Craigs in West Hollywood and they were having a
strategy meeting. So I think that kind of illustrates for
you the level of collaboration that team Luca already has
with his new team. I mean, the Lakers are doing
everything they can to make Luca feel welcome, like it
(25:26):
obviously was not the case for.
Speaker 9 (25:29):
The last several months in Dallas.
Speaker 4 (25:31):
And Okay, you know a Lakers first round exit, yes,
that does you know, I guess that does cool the
heat down on the Mavericks to a degree.
Speaker 9 (25:43):
But I don't know, man.
Speaker 4 (25:46):
You know this is you know, I live in Dallas.
You know, MAVs fans are in my life every day
with the podcast I do for the All City Network
on DLS, And you know, the MAVs are in the
lottery and to have a one point eight percent shot
at Cooper Flag and are probably coming away with the
eleventh pick or lower. So there are so many questions
(26:10):
about the Mavericks future. And again it's not just that
Luca was traded, but it's the return. The return is
just not anywhere near enough for a player of that stature,
and the MAVs have a lot of hard work to
do to get moving back in the right direction. I mean,
they were in last season's NBA Finals, and right now
(26:32):
you can't even imagine a pass back to the finals
for Dallas because you don't even know when Kyrie Orreen'
is gonna be able to play next season.
Speaker 1 (26:41):
Mark Stein joining us, He writes a substack called the
Stein Line. You should just download it and make it
part of your weekly reading. It joins to the Doug
Gottlib Show here on Fox Sports Radio. This one's a
hard one for me because I'm trying to figure out
like Draymond goes into the locker room last night and
starts saying, you know, you turn me into the angry
(27:03):
black Man, And I thought I thought Dan Byer said
it best, like because he didn't specify who he's talking about.
I think us as fans were talking about like wait,
what is he playing the victim? Is he talking about
Tony Brothers? Like, what's your thoughts on that reaction from
Draymond last night?
Speaker 4 (27:24):
Look, I truly don't have a great hand on it
because I'm not covering that series.
Speaker 9 (27:28):
I wasn't there. You know, I've seen a lot.
Speaker 4 (27:30):
Of reporters who I'm close with reporting there was obviously
some sort of incident with a fan last night that
the Wolves said today they are now investigating. So I'm
not really sure how that factor's in. But look, I
have I covered the Warriors extensively for the first three
years of their five straight trips to the finals, and
(27:51):
I was basically embedded with that team. And so my
I am a active fan of Draymond Greens because I've
been able to witness from close range the kind of
impact he has on winning. And you know, I've probably heard,
you know that Steve Kerr always gives the speech about
(28:14):
how we can't you know, we wouldn't have banners with
an S without him, And you know, I've probably heard it,
you know, fifty more times than he said it publicly,
just because again, like he was such a big part
of the four championships that they've already won. So look,
do do other teams think he gets away with more
(28:38):
than he should? You know, of course there's that sentiment
from teams that have to play against the Warriors, and
you know, look, he's he's put himself in this position
in these playoffs that I mean he's got it, you know,
between technicals and flagrant fouls.
Speaker 9 (28:55):
I mean he is. He is petering close.
Speaker 4 (28:57):
To suspension territory. So he's got to figure that out because,
I mean, the Warriors are already in this very difficult position,
not even knowing when Stephan Curry is going to be back.
But like the Warriors have, you know, they they brought
in Jimmy Butler and they aligned it, so you know,
(29:20):
that is their core, Draymond, Jimmy Butler, They're all contractually
on the same timeline because that is how the Warriors
feel about Draymond Green and how he drives winning.
Speaker 1 (29:33):
Steug Gottlieb Show here on Fox Sports Radio. Is there
any argument from your perspective, because part of your job
as the insider is dreus a bit of an historian.
Any argument that Steph is in the stratosphere of Lebron
in terms of all time greats.
Speaker 4 (29:51):
I mean Steph for me is yeah, I mean I
think I think Steph is a top ten player. And
you know, it's easy to say that, like I don't
have I probably don't have my firmed up, perfectly buttoned
up list in front of me that I could just
reel off the top of my head. But I feel
as though because of not just the championships, the way
(30:14):
he changed the game, his impact on I mean, he
is literally responsible for changing what we perceive is a
good shot or not, the distances from which he made
shots acceptable.
Speaker 9 (30:35):
Just I mean, he is to me the best shooter
we've ever seen.
Speaker 4 (30:40):
And you know, when guys like Ray Allen and Reggie
Miller say it, I mean that really gets your attention.
Speaker 9 (30:45):
So I mean, to me, you know, again, we probably
have to sit here and.
Speaker 4 (30:50):
Go through all the names and argue who's in and
who's out. But if I'm if you're telling me draft
your top ten list, Stephen Curry's going to be in there.
For me, I think he is that It's not just it's.
Speaker 9 (31:02):
Not just the individual achievements for me, but it's like
he also just has such when you change, you.
Speaker 1 (31:09):
Know, is gravitational pull as a human being.
Speaker 4 (31:12):
I always say that about Navitsky too, like Dirk Naviski.
To me, he has to be in the top twenty
because he changed the power forward position. And like on
my scorecard, I give bonus points for that, and and
I really feel like Steph changed the way that a
shooting and nothing. You know, is he a point guard?
Speaker 5 (31:34):
No?
Speaker 4 (31:34):
Is he a shooting guard. No, he's Stephan Curry. He's
a one of one, but he changed the way the
backcourt operates because of his ridiculous shooting range and how
it bends before.
Speaker 1 (31:48):
He's Mark Stein, longtime NBA writer and insider, publish a
substack called the Steinline. I encourage you to go read it. Mark,
enjoy the weekend. We hope to talk to you soon.
Thanks for joining us.

Speaker 3 (33:07):
Just a public service announcement for those fans in the
BAYU and the Big Easy of New Orleans. Wage War
will be playing tonight at the House of Blues in
New Orleans. Not playing for for Dave Barghestesi tonight in
Green Bay, as Iowa was saying stated early.
Speaker 10 (33:29):
Earlier in the show, and somebody in the great Milwaukee
area right now that's a huge fan of that band.
That's like, I gotta get to Green Bay, like it's late,
I gotta get there because Iowa. Sam said it on
live radio. I always don't check misinformation.
Speaker 3 (33:46):
Wage War will be in New Orleans tonight. There'll be
an Orange Beach, Alabama tomorrow night in an Orange I've been.
I've been to Orange Beach, Oldama on Sunday. They played
in San Antonio a couple of nights ago. So just yes,
let me just say this.
Speaker 2 (34:02):
When you type something into Google, they always kind of
give themselves an out because at the bottom they say
generative AI is experimental. So if we return stuff to
you that's wrong, it's not our fault. I'll take Sam,
I'll take the hit for this.
Speaker 3 (34:16):
The main thing with Sam's job as a technical producer
at Fox Sports Radio on a drivetime show is is
he's the last line of defense. Any bad word or
anything cannot go on the air. Misinformation shouldn't go on
the air. Yet he provided misinformation by just not typing
the right question. I just searched Nate Bargatzi openers and
(34:38):
found out that Dustin Hendricks has been opening for him
for a while. There have been other Julian McCullough, another
comedian that's opened for Nate Bargatzi.
Speaker 6 (34:50):
The Daily Listener of Forever, Yes, we said his dad, Yeah,
said he's seen his dad open for him. The thing
about Sam is funny because, like I tell him, he's
the worst Googler I've ever seen. Really, he's bat in
about six hundred when you should be a batting nine
fifty in Google. And here's the irony. He's the one
(35:11):
millennial among.
Speaker 1 (35:12):
Us should be so much Sam, you should be so
much better.
Speaker 2 (35:16):
Well, in my defense, I just typed into Google, is
anyone opening for Nate Bargatsy in Green Bay? And then
waits too many words? Okay, but it's still it's Google.
You can type in the wrong stuff and get the
right stuff.
Speaker 1 (35:28):
Everyone opening for Nate Bargatsy in green Bay?
Speaker 2 (35:32):
And it said yes, wage War and Lakeview are listed
as special guests opening for Nate Bargatzi and green Bay.
Then they said it's a part of They're part of
his big dumb eyes world. Tour and then they linked
me to the actual wresh center website. So I just
say that that's just a really, really bad Google result result.
Speaker 3 (35:50):
Sam was taking no responsibility for I just said earlier,
I'll take the hit for this, but man, this is
why I don't trust it. I'm not taking the hit
by saying it's their fault. It is their fault. They
gave me bad info, but I reported them. But I
reported it, So I am taking a hit. The Brooklyn
Nets used their X accounts to give us some great
(36:12):
information or information that none of us care about. I
know barstool does a thing with Final Score graphics. Yeah,
I I Jason. One of Jason's favorite Dodgers right now,
Tommy Edmund's celebrating a birthday today. I know that because
the Dodgers put out a graphic saying happy birthday, Tommy Edmund.
Speaker 1 (36:30):
Sure.
Speaker 3 (36:30):
The Brooklyn Nets four hours ago tweeted out a graphic
of head coach Jordi Fernandez. I thought it was his birthday.
I thought maybe he was nominated for a coaching award. No, Doug,
they made a graphic because he's going to be the
team's lottery rep at the NBA Draft lottery sucks.
Speaker 1 (36:49):
I saw your tweet. You'd never seen that before me
neither ever, Like, this is what we do. Yeah, but
you know what did we have? We had these graphics
for everything. Now, kids selects a high school and it's
announced on social media. Kid listen, we are guys selecting
an AAU team and they're like, hey, I just want
to announce my next chapter. I'm going to play with
(37:10):
Team Gottlieb in the eybl Like really, so yeah? That
that that is the era of which we live in.
Speaker 3 (37:17):
Did wage War send out a graphic They're going to
be in New Orleans tonight in Wi Green Bay?
Speaker 1 (37:21):
Wage War actually did.
Speaker 3 (37:23):
Trust the graphic and not my googling.
Speaker 1 (37:25):
Despite previous reports, we will be in New Orleans at
the House of Blues. Please don't don't pay attention to
the fake news coming out of Fox Sports Radio. That's
just off social media. I'm not you know, I'm not
being critical.
Speaker 3 (37:37):
They are And despite what Pablo Torre's podcast says, the
University of North Carolina says, Bill Belichick's girlfriend is still
welcome at the school's football facilities.
Speaker 1 (37:47):
That was a weird one, right, That was a weird
one because it happened really really fast. I don't think
they want her there, but they didn't say that she
can't go there. That's the press right, have a get
out there in Pressvil was the wonderful safe weekend. Enjoy
