Should be welcome in Hope. You're doing great. Uh, we're
at the super Bowl and.
Speaker 1 (00:45):
A right thanks to the folks at Travis Matthew've given
us all these cool clothingwear. Let's just be honest, but
we don't look as good as for Sean White who
joins us. Comes in clean, just got cleaned up, just
got fainted, lined up. You got the specs? Are those
real glasses? Are they for effect?
Speaker 3 (01:01):
Hey?
Speaker 4 (01:01):
Man?
Speaker 5 (01:01):
Everything I do with real.
Speaker 2 (01:04):
Are you near sighted or far sighted?
Speaker 4 (01:06):
For me?
Speaker 5 (01:07):
I'm near okay, I'm okay though, you know, like Uh, like,
you know, I got good vision playing running back.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
Oh I know, I know you do. That's why I'm like,
are those what?
Speaker 4 (01:15):
What?
Speaker 3 (01:16):
What?
Speaker 1 (01:16):
What?
Speaker 4 (01:16):
What?
Speaker 2 (01:16):
What are those? How would you like? Your journey is
a fascinating one?
Speaker 5 (01:22):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:22):
Right, I mean from from Kearnie to Mount sack uh
to a s U to the league and to the
playoffs and playing with Baker Mayfield. How would you if
if an outsider came in goes like, tell me about
how you got to the league?
Speaker 2 (01:38):
What would you tell him?
Speaker 5 (01:40):
I tell them A lot of tribulations and trials, a
lot of different destinations, like if you know you talk
to Siri, this stop, that stop, that stop. But at
the end of the day, we made it to the
end go the right place that we needed to be.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
So okay, well you're in yet, you're your Nebraska Curney
as a freshman.
Speaker 5 (02:02):
Yeah yeah, And uh that was a rough time. You know,
it was appreciative time because how I was raised. But
it was a rough time, man, coldness, just not where
I thought I should be, not where I wanted to be,
and you know, it all planned out and how it
was supposed to be. Man, it was tough. And I
came in I came already upset, you know, I was
(02:23):
hurt by like I didn't get individual scholarship, so a
lot of different chips was on my shoulder of everything
that was going on, and ended up red shirting there.
Decided to do that and literally went to the coach
and said, y'all want a red shirt. I feel like,
you know, I'll be better at twenty one than I
am at right now at eighteen, even though I feel
like I could play if I need to. And I
read shirt that whole year, that semester. Then I went
(02:45):
back home as a seventeen, eighteen year old kid telling
their mom day going out to California to a junior college.
What you say, no, don't go, No you ain't but
she couldn't tell me no, but she just said, you know,
she said no, don't go, but she couldn't tell me
I can leave. So you know, I ended up doing
that and UH saying I was leaving. I ended up going,
(03:06):
and uh one of the best decisions of my life.
And that was hard. You know, it was hard. Been
after no scholarships and you know a lot of sleepless
nights working going to school, playing football, you know, trying
to make ends meet the cost of living out there
was was insane, inn and it's even more insane now. Man.
(03:26):
You know, I made it through, made it through bald
out two years, made it through man and went to
Arizona statement and with herm and Antonio appears that staff
Marvin Lewis and play with you know, the superstar Jade
and Daniels and.
Speaker 1 (03:40):
Okay, so help us out with the Jade Danielson because
again what we saw, okay from far away was when
Jade Daniels is gonna transfer. Dudes are in there going
like going and getting his gear, talking trash on social.
Speaker 5 (03:54):
Yeah, and so that was tough. Obviously I was going
into the draft, so I had left and I wouldn't
really pay attention.
Speaker 4 (04:02):
I was locked in.
Speaker 5 (04:02):
But he ended up sending it to me, and then
we faced Tom and we talked about it, and you know,
we didn't really care about it. You know, I told him,
go ahead, do your thing. Them guys gonna look goofy anyway,
you know, like you know, whatever they trying to, you know,
get cloud, get clickbait on you, but just do your
thank he being you, and that's what he did. And
now look at him, you know I don't even know.
No dispect guys that that did that video.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
Now they're they're they're exactly where you think they are,
not in the league. Whereas I mean that dude's the
rookie of the year and one of the elite quarterbacks
in the year. Did you, I mean, all honesty, yeah,
did you see this from him?
Speaker 5 (04:33):
Rookie of the year? Yeah, I told.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
Rookie of the year, leam to the playoffs.
Speaker 5 (04:37):
Yeah, And I don't want to get out of the camera.
Get men telling me my boys. We got messages, we
got mentionages up. He had got hurt going into that
final stretch or something had happened, and I think he
had end up having a bye week. And after that,
me and him was texting and I was like, go
grab that heisman. He said, yeah, i' gonna see you
at the end. I'm about to go grab a heisman.
And then he went on that you know, tear of
(04:58):
that stretch of the end of season, and man, he
ended up having the heisman. But yeah, I always knew
what he's capable of, Like all honesty, man, he was special.
When I said all the time, I played with like
you said, Brady, I play with Baker. I always say
to everybody, Know, everybody asked me. They'll tell you interview
or not, I'll say he's the best quarterback.
Speaker 3 (05:12):
I ever played with.
Speaker 2 (05:14):
What is Baker really like?
Speaker 5 (05:15):
Baker? Great guy? Man, Uh, he's a dog man, he's
a savage. Well he's done playing, man. I hope he
got the white body work people around him though, because
you know he don't care. He runs into that brick
wall though. But that's what you love about him, man,
he going It.
Speaker 1 (05:31):
Feels like again, this is more feels like you living
on a daily basis, right. It feels like he's at
his best when people doubt him for sure, whereas when
when he's uh, when people tell him how Grady is
and have super high expectations of him, he's just kind
of okay, Like he's way better off being in Tampa
(05:51):
as an underdog than he would be as a as
he's a number one overall pick in the draft, but
being recognized as such.
Speaker 5 (05:57):
Yeah, but and and and I ain't gonna lie. I
that's the great part about it, like you said, for him.
And he's in a great situation, great spot, like like
you said, because he's not gonna respect Like, let's I mean,
obviously we want to win the Super Bowl or go
to that and do that, but other than that, he's
not gonna ever get that recognition, which is good for
(06:17):
him because, like you said, it's gonna keep him humble,
and that's what it's good Tempa. You know what I'm saying.
The market, obviously, we all know what it is. We
all the players love playing there though nothing bad to
say about it, but we always underdogs anyway. So every year,
even though this year is gonna gonna be something said about, oh,
you know, somebody else gonna win the division when I
(06:38):
didn't want it. I didn't want it three years in
a row. I mean, I'm not trying to come over
here and glowing and talk stuff. I'm just saying, like,
you see, somebody's gonna do something or something, or somebody
gonna something gonna like, oh, Lena's gonna win, or New
Orleans gonna win. Like I don't know what it is
about it, but that's why it's a great spot for
him that he's gonna keep driving.
Speaker 1 (06:54):
For Sean Whites, our guest here, Doug Gottlieb Show, Fox
Sports Radio, of course, start running back. Can't pay Buccaneers
you have played both these teams. You're beating the Philadelphia Eagles. Yeah,
what do you say helped me out? Because the Eagles
defensively looks like they got great talent. But you guys,
you know, you score thirty three against him when when
you saw the Eagles and everybody's different as the season evolves.
Speaker 2 (07:16):
Yeah, for sure, what are your thoughts on the Eagles defense?
Speaker 5 (07:19):
I actually think they pretty good. I actually think And
that's how it is. You're saying we saw him at
a different time, So the young guys was different. First
of all, like the cornerback, he's a very good first
round draft pick, Quenyon Mincher or whatever. It's very good.
Obviously as a season going, the more reps he get
in the league, he's developed more better. They developed him
right the Cooper de Gen same thing, put him in
(07:39):
right spots, right places. You kind of get that as
Tom goes on. We caught him early and then you
got them veterans, and then you got some other guys
like Jalen Carter you just can't account for I mean,
we account for it by putting four hands on him,
you know, send that double team at him, and that's
the type of monster he is. But I think they're
actually pretty good. I think they're actually really good. I
think the only problem is this, you go up against fifteen,
(08:01):
and I'm not trying to say fifteen can't be stopped,
but you know it's gonna be tough. I mean, the
last time we seen what fifteen be stopped in the
playoffs was what they had zero points at halftime against
the Patriots, and then what.
Speaker 4 (08:10):
Do you do the second half?
Speaker 2 (08:12):
It's pretty pretty amazing, pretty amazing.
Speaker 5 (08:14):
Thirty points or something. Yeah, like so, like you know,
and that's a tough part. But I think it's, like
you said, it's gonna be a great game. Man, two
great teams. I don't care you know how people feel
about I don't want to see these teams. Again, I
don't want to do this, but two great teams, a big,
great game.
Speaker 1 (08:26):
What happens is when you grow up in Kansas City,
everybody assumes your Chiefs fan. But again, now I don't
want to assume because a lot of markets when you're
high school, dude, you'rell you know, you worry about high school,
you were about college. You're not much of an NFL R,
I do think, and again I'm more guessing Kan City's
a bit different, right, Yeah, Kansas City is it is
all feels all about the Chiefs.
Speaker 2 (08:44):
How how indue Chiefs football? Were you growing up?
Speaker 5 (08:48):
I was big into it. I wasn't like crazy big though,
like die Hard, but I had like buddies that was
very die Hard. Even my best friend to this day
cry over games or cry over stuff.
Speaker 2 (08:57):
Who who's the name him right now?
Speaker 4 (08:59):
Boy?
Speaker 5 (09:00):
His government name is Mark Quay Richardson, but I call
him Quay. But that's like my like my blood brother.
And he still.
Speaker 1 (09:07):
He just this Quaick get defensive about people thinking that
the officials in the Super Bowl.
Speaker 5 (09:13):
Yeah he kind of get the Yeah, he get defensive.
But he also he also be like, you can't tell
them nothing because they back to back champs they didn't
want so you know, he just read that type of
fan result back to it is what it is with
the champs. We be winning, So it is what it
is how everybody feel, you know, they just hate to
see his win, so you know how that be. So
I was a big fan though. Jamal Charles Man I
(09:34):
looked up to him growing up. Huge man. He did
a lot for our city.
Speaker 4 (09:38):
Man.
Speaker 5 (09:38):
He was a great player man so that was huge
for me, especially playing running back.
Speaker 2 (09:41):
What impressed you about their defense?
Speaker 5 (09:44):
I think the Chiefs defense, what's the best thing about
it stands out? I say, obviously Spags that's the play caller,
but I think the biggest thing about him. While they're
so good, they all communicate. They all on the same page.
They all do their job and know their job, you
know what I'm saying, And they all communicate that in
a good fashion manner. As long as you got communication
out there, man, it's hey, it's gonna be something great
to have.
Speaker 2 (10:03):
No it is.
Speaker 1 (10:04):
It really becomes about players more than plays, right, Like
you guys all got to be on the same page,
which is my question kind of about Philadelphia. Dan and
I talked about this all the time, which is like
I get the Philadelphia's here, but it does seem like
offensively not everybody's on the same page. Now, they make
it work, But will it work on Super Sunday if
they're not on the same page.
Speaker 2 (10:24):
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (10:24):
Man, you got to be on the same page. So
they all got to be locked in, and I think
they will be obviously for the greater of the cause
it's a big game. But I also would say, Man,
like Philadelphia, I got the mon Stars over there. Of course, man,
you got the Monstars and the Chiefs what they the
Looney Tube squad. So you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (10:41):
I like that. I like that analogy.
Speaker 5 (10:42):
Yeah, you know the Chiefs, the Loney Tobe squad.
Speaker 2 (10:44):
And we do know who Jordan is in this in
this story, do we not?
Speaker 5 (10:48):
You know who he is? Man, we know who he is.
Everybody know he's We don't got to say it. You know,
sometimes they say, well understood, don't need to be explained.
Everybody know pass the bad boy.
Speaker 1 (10:57):
How crazy is that though, that they had Baker than
they had Pat at Tech, Right, Like.
Speaker 5 (11:03):
That's nuts, Right, that's nuts.
Speaker 2 (11:06):
And then you kind of complete the circle.
Speaker 1 (11:07):
Right We're talking about Jayden who he's with, Cliff who
is the coach, and now he's just his OC in Washington.
Speaker 2 (11:13):
Thanks like that that, that's crazy stuff.
Speaker 1 (11:15):
Last thing was shot is one thing about the league
that a running back in the league would know, but
we don't actually know.
Speaker 5 (11:26):
I got a running back would know that. I don't
actually know.
Speaker 2 (11:28):
Maybe just an NFL player would know.
Speaker 1 (11:29):
It's like we sit around here and uh, we think
we know about the NFL, but you actually live it.
Speaker 2 (11:35):
This is your third year living it.
Speaker 5 (11:37):
Oh you're talking about like like that anything that is scripted?
Speaker 2 (11:41):
Is it scripted?
Speaker 5 (11:41):
No, I'm just gonna we almost had the greatest interview.
Speaker 4 (11:45):
Of all time.
Speaker 1 (11:49):
That's White, of course, Who's who's the running back for
the Ta Bay Buccaneers.
Speaker 2 (11:55):
That was awesome. That was awesome.
Speaker 1 (11:57):
We thought we had close. We're this close. With this close,
I did want to ask you, Dan, because you are
our resident uniform police. Yes, old Bucks Creamsicle or New
Bucks like it. Here's what's interesting. You and I are
(12:19):
old enough to remember when Old Bucks Dreamsicle was their
uniform and they were generally clowned. Yes, they were thought
to be ugly and clownish. And the new ones are
actually they've had several different incarnations of it, but they
became really really cool.
Speaker 2 (12:33):
Especially with the pewter kind of gray. Right, I became cool.
Speaker 1 (12:36):
But now I feel like it's flipped and I think
the creamschicols are way better.
Speaker 6 (12:39):
I think that I think a lot of people think
that the creamstackles are a lot better, just like the
Kelly Green are better. For the Philadelphia Eagles, just like
the Seahawks, and.
Speaker 2 (12:47):
They hated the Kelly Green when it was Kelly Green
for the Eagles.
Speaker 6 (12:49):
Yeah, because you didn't see what it could possibly be,
and now you end up looking back and saying, man,
we missed those colors.
Speaker 4 (12:56):
This is the genius of the NFL.
Speaker 6 (12:58):
You're not going to see teams do throwbacks full time
because they know they can make the same amount of
money if you just bring him back once or twice
a year. Buccaneers do it once a year, Eagles will
do it once or twice. Seahawks will have theirs once
or twice. But you can sell the same amount if
you have a regular uniform and then bring back the
(13:18):
throwbacks for people that want to back full time. I
don't think that makes the NFL money because no one's
gonna order or buy the other stuff.
Speaker 4 (13:25):
You wouldn't buy this Eagle stuff right now.
Speaker 6 (13:28):
If that was their alternate uniform, everybody would buy the throwbacks.
Speaker 2 (13:32):
It's a great point. Rappit Radios are the walkie talking

(13:55):

and and his first trip to a New Orleans Super
Bowl and now it launched his career.
Speaker 2 (14:05):
That's next. Thanks for listening to The Doug Gotlep Show podcast.
Speaker 1 (14:08):
Be sure to catch us live every weekday three to
five Eastern twelve two Pacific on Fox Sports Radio. Find
your local station for The Doug Gottlieb Show at Foxsports
Radio dot com, or stream us live every day on
the iHeartRadio app by searching FSR Doug Gottlep Show here
on Fox Sports Radio. There are certain things that are
the gold standard. There are certain people that are the
(14:29):
gold standard. The gold standard in being a football insider
is Jay Glazier and he's joining us now on The
Doug Gottlieb Show on.
Speaker 2 (14:36):
Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (14:37):
I say that because I mean it, because for you,
you are not one of these spitball just coordinator storat
desert of stuff. It's only things that matter, and it's
usually a week or two before everybody else comes out
with what matters.
Speaker 7 (14:51):
And it's on Sundays, and that's where it look I
used to be. I was just telling someone here, my
first Super Bowl was here in New Orleans, ninety five here,
ninety six super Bowl. I was beyond broke. I was
making nine grand a year. And the New York Post said,
we'll send you down. No, no, we'll send you down
if you get down there. We'll give you two hundred
and fifty bucks for a story. And New York one
TV said, if you can get down there, we'll let
(15:12):
you do three stand ups for one hundred and fifty
bucks each.
Speaker 3 (15:14):
But I didn't have We're.
Speaker 7 (15:15):
Not going to put you up to stay here or
fly there, or food or anything.
Speaker 3 (15:20):
And also broke, I didn't have money for food.
Speaker 7 (15:22):
I got myself down here, and like these flight credits
I had from Green to be bumped from other flights,
I stayed on like some goth chicks couches that I
didn't even know, and I would eat it in this
radio row area, and then I would go to parties
to try and eat there. And the first party ever
went to. Was it the House of Blues here New Orleans?
Sugar Hill Gang performed, but it.
Speaker 3 (15:44):
Was Howie Long Party And that's my brother now.
Speaker 7 (15:46):
So like, what a journey to go from making nine
grand a year to being part of the broadcast crew
for the Super Bowl. And it's uh, man, I still
wait to wake up in fifth grade and none of
this stuff happened. And I'm always every single day in
my life, I'm like, thank you my best friend, God Almighty,
and Evan, I can't believe I'm here. But it's you know,
it's that grind and you like you're saying about the insider.
(16:07):
I was the first minute by minute breaking news guy
in this country when that internet thing came out, which
I think is gonna take off. It was me, mort
John Clayton, and Len Pass Curly.
Speaker 3 (16:18):
That was it. It was us against each other.
Speaker 7 (16:19):
Yes, and Peter King wasn't breaking news, but he was,
you know, an insider too. And I did that freaking
minute by minute by minute and then it was became okay,
well who could tweak fastest if I didn't sign up
for that? So now I make sure And it was
great because Fox came to me They're like, look, you're
gonna kill yourself to it because also, like ESPN has
one hundred people, and if I'll Network cut one hundred people,
Fox is just me. And you know, they're like, as
(16:42):
long as you come on Sundays and you make sure
you have better stuff than anybody in the planet and
you come out with stuff with less field, that's all
we want.
Speaker 3 (16:49):
And that's what's great for me.
Speaker 7 (16:50):
You have to watch Fox and a fels Sony because
I'm gona tell you sthning every week that nobody knew
and like you're saying, also weeks earlier, and a lot
of times I say.
Speaker 3 (16:58):
Stuff now and people get out age because it seems
so outlandish.
Speaker 7 (17:01):
Like you know, a couple of years ago, I said, oh,
Odell Beckham's gonna get traded of this offseason.
Speaker 3 (17:06):
People went crazy.
Speaker 7 (17:07):
I got so much hate because I reported what was
gonna happen way before it was gonna happen.
Speaker 3 (17:13):
But I knew it was gonna happen, you know.
Speaker 7 (17:16):
But that's the whole point is you put stuff out
that the rest of the world doesn't know, and on Sundays,
that's my that's my pott of goal. With the other
rainbow plus also I have a I have an obligation
that you guys, the Fox Sports family. I really really
look at it like my teammates are everything to me,
and I have an obligation to come out better stuff
than anybody else.
Speaker 3 (17:35):
I will never mail it in and all I got
is grind to me.
Speaker 1 (17:37):
You know, do I have to wait till Sunday to
find out if Aaron Rodgers is going to play football
next year?
Speaker 7 (17:43):
I don't really answer that question yet, Okay, but even
like perfect example last week, right, And that's the other
thing too, My access I'm very proud of. So I
came on the NFC Championship game and I directly talked
to Aaron. Glenn said, we're not going to drag it out.
I want to go meet with Aaron in person. We'll
have an answer much sooner than later. I'm not going
to drag this out, but I want to go meet
(18:04):
him in person.
Speaker 3 (18:05):
And it was great.
Speaker 7 (18:06):
We're the only ones who had Aaron directly until he
Aaron Glenn, I mean, until he talked to the rest
of the media like three days later, whatever it was.
And that's my job. My job is to get direct
information so you know what's going on.
Speaker 2 (18:19):
You've been very upfront with battles with depression, with other
things in your life.
Speaker 3 (18:24):
Anxiety AD is a BiPOL or you name it.
Speaker 2 (18:26):
I got it right, well. ADHD is something that I
know I have, yep Son has it.
Speaker 1 (18:31):
And now as a college basketball coach, we talked to
our players about it all the time, right because all
those other things are a byproduct in many ways of ADHD.
Speaker 2 (18:40):
What do you do about it?
Speaker 3 (18:41):
So I'm lovely you brought up to as a coach too,
because I get brought in. It's funny.
Speaker 7 (18:46):
I started the first mixed martial arts training program for
poor athletes in this country, and I used to get
brought into teams to talk about violence and how great people.
And part of it was like our fighters and football players,
if you were hurt and tired, you will never ever
ever know. Our fighters cannot take a stool in between rounds.
I get a march back and forth, and march back
and forth because we want to try and break you.
I want somebody to sit there and go, what's wrong
(19:07):
with that dude? And like you watch Like Andrew Whitworth,
we had for years, Witt would not put his head
in the huddle. He would dip his ear in and
look to see on the other side who's gas, who
got their hands on their hips, and we go try
and break that person. And you need that in the
cage or football field, a basketball court. So you need
but that same mindset, especially as men gets people like
(19:30):
me or Elane Johnson or and Andrew Whitworth to crawl
up in the freaking corner of our room in a
fetal position, crying out of nowhere one night, or just
suffering silence for all these years. And now I want
guys to start leaning into each other. I want them
to start. And I tell these teams, you probably don't
think you got enough. Like NFL teams only have to
have a therapists on site of three days a week.
Speaker 4 (19:51):
That's it.
Speaker 7 (19:52):
When you got fifteen strength coaches and trainers, it doesn't
make any sense when everything starts in that six inches
between your ears. I'm like, you may not think you
got enough therapist, but you do. You get fifty three
sitting right next to you on either side. And the
brother that this is I've gone from having friends to
brothers now that we could talk about it. The ADHD
part when I tell coaches and when I look, God
(20:13):
gave me the ability to communicate, so I try and
describe depression anxiety. I didn't know I had anxiety till
I heard Terry Bradshaw talk about it twelve years after
my first anxiety attack. When I thought I was having
a heart attack, I was getting my heart checked out
for twelve years, and TV was talking about in our
green room. I'm like, oh, wait, say that again. Oh
my God, that's what I have, right. I didn't know
(20:35):
so at ADHD when I go. I was one of
the first adults diagnosed with ADHD in the East Coast
of America Princeton University in nineteen eighty nine. And when
I try and tell coaches and anybody, they told me
I had a learning disability. I don't got a learning disability.
I just don't learn the way you teach right, and
the way I describe ADHD, it's like you're drowning. If
(20:56):
I'm sitting in something that I cannot pay attention, it's
like I'm drowning and my own only breath of fresh
air is to disrupt the class, to start talking, to
start fidgeting, start doing stuff you think I want to
get grounded every freaking year, week of my life. No,
And I tell football coaches your players are unable, They're
not capable. You think they want to get fined all
(21:16):
the time. No, you have to figure out a way
to coach better, to get them to understand what's going
to resonate with them more now. But because I've started
to talk about all these and also on the other end,
I've also trying to figure out where do these issues
help me? So I try and weaponize my ADHD, my depression,
my anxiety, bipolarom'st trying to figure that one out.
Speaker 3 (21:38):
But where they've helped me, and if you can weaponize them,
then you're not ashamed by them.
Speaker 7 (21:43):
Sure, So because I talk about it now, I found
a drug called Calbury, which is a non stimulant, and
I got to put on stimulants.
Speaker 3 (21:51):
In eighty nine and at least the way they work
with me and my depression, it was not good. Man.
Speaker 7 (21:57):
I pushed away a lot of good people in my life,
had a lot of violent pursts. So I just stopped
really with everything. And I because I've opened up now,
I've tried to learn different things. Kelbury is the first
pharmaceugal I've had that it's helped me and actually take
it at night, so you can never dream about the
other ADHD.
Speaker 2 (22:15):
Drugs, right the uppers, Yeah, you can't take it night.
I take night.
Speaker 3 (22:18):
Yeah, and I'll tell you that the wild.
Speaker 7 (22:19):
My wife, Rosie, we had to evacuate Malibu recently, and
you know, we we went outside our cell service cuts.
We didn't know everything was burned down around us until
we went outside of walk our dog and ran out,
didn't grab it the calbrey, and we didn't get back
in our house for a little while, and she was like, hey,
you're all over the maps, like you need this and
like I know anymedia, but I just we just grab whatever,
(22:41):
you know, our dog and got out of there. So
it's been a game changer for me. It really has been.
And there's no shame in it that it's called Kelby
Kelbury q E l b r ee.
Speaker 3 (22:52):
It has been.
Speaker 7 (22:53):
Look, I'm doing a nine hour media tour today, which
is not ADHD conducive. So I couldn't do this without
the Calvary.
Speaker 1 (23:00):
Like he's like, we said, you've been doing this for
a long time. Andy, Read's been through a lot. Like
one of the things that sometimes we cover, sometimes we brush.
Speaker 4 (23:07):
Overs, was.
Speaker 2 (23:10):
With the stuff with his boys.
Speaker 1 (23:11):
Obviously at the end of uh in Philly and the
start in Kansas City could not have been easy.
Speaker 2 (23:16):
But he is so beloved yea, by.
Speaker 7 (23:19):
The he's your favorite uncle. You don't want to disappoint,
you know. And I also like Andy and I are
really close. In one of the conversations I did have
with him, like I was not raised to do the
bad things I did growing up, I thought it was
cool to be a jack off and to do these things.
I just had no business. I think, if you're a
(23:41):
great parent, you got fifty to fifty shot. If you're
a bad parent, he had a ten percent shot. I
mean that's just where I view it. Yeah, I literally
just told him this all that I never really told
him about some of the really hanging the stuff that
me and my crew had grown up. Could I I'm ashamed,
(24:02):
but we we connected out like that's what's great about
this football community.
Speaker 3 (24:06):
Like even though there's a.
Speaker 7 (24:07):
Bunch of badass and the whole thing, I said, like, hey,
you don't show it, you don't show it, we actually do.
We kind of lean in and get vulnerable with each other,
and I'm I'm trying to lead the way with the vulnerability.
Speaker 3 (24:17):
You're not questioning my man, So I'll cry the drop
of the time. I'm good.
Speaker 1 (24:22):
You know, there's a lot of talk, and this is
more football ean than personally. There's a lot of talk
running backs, the big discussion the last offseason, and Saquan
stayed a year with the Giants and now he's with
the Eagles, And I made the cases.
Speaker 2 (24:36):
Here that it's literally the greatest thing ever for his career.
Now he leaves behinde absolutely, yeah.
Speaker 1 (24:45):
But he leaves behind what Strahan has now straight hand
obviously played on better teams, But when you're in New
York and you're mister Giant, the rest of your life
is prettdamn good when you're a really smart, good dude,
which he is. And Strahan is right, Okay, so your
lead behind that to go to Philadelphia, which is strictly
a football decision, But can you think of a football
(25:07):
decision being any better than the one that he get
that he landed?
Speaker 7 (25:09):
Absolutely, It's you know, it's it's interesting because as I've
done this red a Road today, this question has come
up a lot as Saquon and Derek Henry and Josh
Jacobs reset the running back market, and it should get
valued more. But the free agents who are out there
ain't like these guys. They're not physical, durable, you know,
difference makers in that way. I do think that the
(25:33):
position will get more value, but I still I don't
know if it's gonna equal out where guys are get paid.
Speaker 3 (25:38):
But they should get paid. I mean, they really get
beat up more than anybody else.
Speaker 7 (25:42):
Even if you're not running ball, you're blocking, You're taking
on lineman, you're taking on We just saw James Harrison
over You're still huge. You're trying to block James Harrison
like it's it's it is not good for your health
to be.
Speaker 3 (25:51):
Running back.
Speaker 2 (25:53):
When you're on the set this Sunday, it's a super Bowl, yep,
And as do you do.
Speaker 1 (26:00):
You get a moment to realize that you went from
sleeping on some gothchaings couch, every the person that everybody
wants the information on what's gonna happen next in the league.
Speaker 3 (26:09):
Over every single show I'm ever on.
Speaker 7 (26:12):
Right before we walk out, I take a little spot
and I actually tell coaches do the same thing, Go
find a little fot from where their first head coach
John Bond, and I literally look up to God and
I go, thank you, my best friend, God Almighty. I
cannot believe I'm here. And just living in gratitude is
way better better than living in the misery that of
(26:34):
you know, to get here, of the grind, it's a lot, man,
It's lonely.
Speaker 3 (26:37):
It's hard.
Speaker 7 (26:38):
It's like trying to be great is lonely, you know,
and trying to make your dream come true as lonely.
And there's a lot of being rejected. And it's not
what people think. You can pay your bills better, but man,
it's a lot to go through. And if I didn't
have my mental health issues, probably would have quit a
long time ago because I felt so worthless. Every time
I got turned down for a job, I'm like, sure,
(26:58):
of course I want eleven years I getting full time job.
Speaker 3 (27:01):
Are you kidding me?
Speaker 7 (27:02):
Like I was like, yeah, of course I'm turned down.
I should be turned down, So yeah I will. I'll
probably do it three or four times this week. I'll
do it during the game. I'm a big god guy.
I talk to God all the time about this. Like
my best friend, I don't ask God to get me
a job and make me rich. I just say, hey,
just please make I got it. I'll handle it. Just
when I get knocked down, pick me up, brush me off,
(27:22):
and let's keep walking this walk together.
Speaker 3 (27:24):
So yeah, I really appreciate it. Man, that's been awesome.
Speaker 2 (27:27):
One more time. The drugs name.
Speaker 7 (27:28):
Kelbury QE no you q E l b r ee,
like I said, I take it at night, totally focuses me.
And you know again, like thank god I started talking
about it, because I wouldn't have if I wasn't so vocal,
I wouldn't.
Speaker 3 (27:44):
Have known that these things would have been brought to me.
So you're here and at home, talk about it.
Speaker 7 (27:49):
Open up these teammates of mine, these people like I
came over here today, I FaceTime Michael Phelps because I
was nervous of how I would be with my anxiety
when I get in situations like this and boom right
away like this is what we do with each other, Michael, selves,
and you're not bothered anybody.
Speaker 4 (28:04):
It gets you.
Speaker 3 (28:05):
People become went from friends to brothers.
Speaker 7 (28:08):
It really I think the way the world is now
too social media is just kicking your butt all the time,
and we're comparing ourselves to everybody else's freaking filtered highlights
each day. We need these connections more than ever and
people want to be there for you.

jealous of Dan's hair.
Speaker 2 (29:11):
My fade little bit better, his hair lot better.
Speaker 1 (29:14):
Let's get to the press, the press, NIB What are
the biggest stories of the day in Sports Day, I.
Speaker 4 (29:21):
Do want to start out with the National Football League.
Speaker 6 (29:23):
Miles Garrett making the rounds here on this media day Wednesday,
spoke with The Rich Eisend Show, doubling down on his
trade request out of Cleveland, saying that he doesn't take
the decision lightly, but that it took lots of conversation
and looking at the trajectory of the team. He does
not think they're aligned on where the team is going
(29:44):
in the future. Now in the Browns defense, there's not
you know, much more lower than they could get than
second overall pick in the NFL draft, But he says,
right now they're trajectory not in line where he wants
to go in to win a Super Bowl?
Speaker 2 (30:00):
Can I call b s? Sure I can't. I'm allowed to, yes, Okay,
one suppress, Okay, one the press.
Speaker 1 (30:09):
Sure, Okay, he's been under the same contract. Now, this
is like what six years coming to sixth year of
basically a seven year deal. It's got other years added on.
I'm sure he's right, I'm sure doesn't feel good. Okay,
but I think this is to reset the shot clock
and get himself a new contract, which he doesn't think
he would get if He's stayed in Cleveland fair enough.
Speaker 6 (30:32):
He's under contract through the twenty twenty sixth season, so
there is two more years. There are two more years
left on his current deal. I would say if you
put him on a contender, it wouldn't have the Luca
type effect, but it would definitely change opinions in the
National Football League. If the Lions, if the Bills, or
(30:53):
one of those teams that are looking to get.
Speaker 4 (30:56):
After the quarterback.
Speaker 6 (30:57):
Everybody's looking to get after the quarterback, but one of
those top teams that are here in the Super Bowl,
they went after him.
Speaker 4 (31:03):
I think it could change things.
Speaker 2 (31:05):
Uh yeah, But again, if you're going to trade somebody,
you had to give up something.
Speaker 5 (31:09):
I do.
Speaker 1 (31:10):
I actually like that it took place now, only that
it gives the Browns a chance if they want to
try and scrap it go young, deal him and get
draft picks. That that makes sense, especially considering like, look,
they have the number two pick, and they can make
a decision like do we want to if we can
trade them, can we load up on picks? Do we
need to use it to move up one spot if
(31:31):
we think that that's the number one overall pick. I think,
But I again, I'm not saying this is an ulterior motive.
It's part of the motive is it was a new
contract and it wouldn't make sense for the for Cleveland
to give him a new contract where they don't they're
not in championship mode this coming year.
Speaker 6 (31:48):
There's always always a story Kyler Murray, remember three years
ago in la unfollowing the Cardinals scrubbing his Instagram and
now Miles Garrett.
Speaker 1 (31:58):
But again, let me just say this, I don't I'll
I have a hard time speaking kindly about Miles Garrett
because he accused a friend of mine of saying a
completely racially insensitive word, which I know my friend would
not say.
Speaker 2 (32:10):
Ritt Mason Rudolphus, the friend we're talking about that said.
Speaker 1 (32:15):
Again, I like at least that he owned it, whereas
so many these other guys have done what you were
talking about with say, they scrubbed the Instagram, like I
don't know why that happened, or they don't want at
least the guy said, look, I want to be traded,
and then he went and did the media thing and
said why you want to be traded? Which, again, if
nothing else, you're giving your your you're putting your name
behind it instead of doing the passive, aggressive unfollow on
(32:37):
Instagram thing that people do.
Speaker 6 (32:40):
Packer's running back Josh Jacobs making some waves today telling
ninety seven point three the Game in Milwaukee or Fox
Sports radio affiliate that the team needs a proven number
one at wide receiver.
Speaker 4 (32:52):
You're in Green Bay.
Speaker 6 (32:53):
Dontavian Wix tweeted a bunch of thumbs down emojis.
Speaker 4 (32:57):
Didn't like the Josh Jacobs comments.
Speaker 1 (33:01):
I do not think that's the packerway. I do not
think that I'll be met with wrman He's he might
might not be wrong when one of their top wide
receivers tears is acl On, who probably wouldn't have been
back terars his acl On in the last game of
the season. Romeo Dobbs had a bunch of injuries. They
look they've had a lot of young guys. Again, just
(33:21):
because you're right doesn't mean it's the right thing for
you to say.
Speaker 6 (33:25):
Sure, Jayden Reid is a great player, but he's not
a number one receiver guy you mentioned Watson at Dobbs.
Speaker 4 (33:32):
Dobbs does have a tough time staying on the field. Wicks.
Everybody wants Wicks to be that guy. Maybe that's why
he gave the thumbs down. But he has yet to
be that guy.
Speaker 2 (33:39):
Sure.
Speaker 4 (33:39):
Jalen Carter missed today's media availability.
Speaker 1 (33:42):
By the way, Trey for Cooper Cup, I mean I
don't understand. Like I again, I know he's been banged up.
I know he's always hurt. Okay, tray for Cooper Cup.
And I don't think it'll cost you a bunch. Tray
for Cooper because that dude's is stud. He's stud.
Speaker 2 (33:59):
He's a better Jordy Nelson.
Speaker 4 (34:02):
Well he was, yes, yes, but now of where he is.
Speaker 2 (34:07):
Yeah, but look, you just need somebody solid and consistent.
Speaker 4 (34:10):
That's it.
Speaker 1 (34:10):
And when in number one, I think you need more
number one in mentality than you do number one in talent.
Speaker 2 (34:15):
Okay, in mentality? Can you make I that's right, I
would go Cooper Cup.
Speaker 6 (34:21):
Sounds forward Kevin Durant will miss tonight's game against the Thunder.
ESPN says Durant has no desire to be traded to
the Golden State Warriors.
Speaker 2 (34:30):
What if we offered you more money.
Speaker 6 (34:32):
Bucks are acquiring Kyle Kuzma and Patrick Baldwin Junior from
the Washington Wizards. They're sending Chris Middleton AJ Johnson and
a first round pick swap to DC in twenty twenty eight,
Bucks also swapping second round picks, getting the better pick
this summer.
Speaker 2 (34:46):
Man A J. Johnson.
Speaker 4 (34:47):
A J.
Speaker 1 (34:47):
Johnson just had like his best game as a pro too. Hey,
you just had your best game as a pro. Now
get out of the way.
Speaker 2 (34:53):
So who they get back?
Speaker 4 (34:54):
Kuzma Kuzma and Patrick Baldwin junior Milwaukee.
Speaker 1 (34:57):
Patrick bald who played the w Milwaukee or his dad?
Uh wow, they that's a great I mean, listen talking
about Kyle kus Will falling into something. The challenge for
coups is going to be Okay, now you have to
play winning basketball right now, like your shot selection is different,
your level intensity defense, like they played no games at
(35:17):
Matter in Washington for the last two years, has been there.
Speaker 4 (35:21):
It's going to be a change of scenery.
Speaker 6 (35:22):
A lot of people are sad to see Chris Middleton
leave Milwaukee, but honestly, it was time, yes, but it
was time.
Speaker 4 (35:27):
Yes. Yes. One other NFL note that I forgot to
mention earlier. Earlier.
Speaker 6 (35:31):
The Rams will play in Melbourne, Australia in the twenty
twenty six regular season. They will serve as the home
team this on the heels of the report yesterday where
Jeffrey Lorie said that, Yeah, the Eagles would love to
play the Rams in Australia, but not be the home team.
Speaker 4 (35:44):
So you lose a home game, well the Rams are
going to be that home team.
Speaker 1 (35:48):
Hey, I just I'm more interested in the schedule stuff
because I can tell you unequivocally that travel and schedule
will beat you as much or more than the opponent.
Speaker 4 (36:01):
Mm hmm. I think Vegas will tell you that as well.
Speaker 6 (36:04):
Short weeks right, when you play on a Monday, gotta
come back on a Sunday for a one o'clock Eastern timekick.
Speaker 4 (36:09):
Yeah, and that's the press bag.
Speaker 2 (36:11):
Get out there and pressed. That was the press all right,
quick promo.
Speaker 1 (36:15):
We got the podcast, which is up available after the show.
Vince Woolford, Mike Smith, Kyl Rudolph, Hannah Storm, Brian Billick,
Patrick Peterson, Andy agar All on it back tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (36:23):
Doug Gotliep Show, Fox Sports Radio
