(01:27):
You're on Fox Sports Radio. Oh, here's that gambler works.
If you could give one pick to a friend who's
desperately in need of a winner, what would it be?
What would it be? Let's go to uh, let's go
to Jay stew He's got our Ja Stu team parlay.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
I'm sure, Thank you, Doug. I'll take it from here.
Old Nelly, do we have a humdinger for you today?
Old Lily? If you listen to the Gambler long enough,
you know this you need to race to the gambling window,
race to your book. I'm going to give you the

(02:07):
Jay's two team parlay in the early window of tonight's
college football action. I want you to go up and
say that you're taking the Hokies and plus seventeen and
a half at Miami, Florida and Miami they've had too
many issues to deal with over the last twelve hours
for Virginia Tech's going to go in and take advantage

(02:27):
of their sorrow. I need you to couple Virginia Tech
with Rutgers, and I'll tell you what. Rutgers gives a
point and a half to Washington and just a memo
to Washington fans, brock Hewart is not going to be
walking through that door tonight. Rutgers and Virginia Tech your

(02:48):
Jay's two team parlay. You could thank me on Monday.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
And KnowI and what to keep because every hands okay
about you there, Dan.

Speaker 3 (03:01):
Byer, Doug. I'm gonna go to Sunday and when you
look at the NFL slee.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
Sunday Sunday, Sunday Sunday, Yeah.

Speaker 3 (03:07):
There are a lot of interesting games, and I think
one of the most interesting games that you're gonna get
is in Atlanta, the Falcons against the Saints divisional showdown
between these two teams. Right now, the spread is Atlanta
two and a half, the total is forty one and
a half. I'm gonna take the over on this. Alvin
Kamara looks like he's gonna play. I think we can

(03:28):
get a few more points than we saw on Sunday
night between the Chiefs and Falcons, and I know that
the Saints were held in check against the Eagles offenses
open up. I'm not gonna give you a winner here,
but Saints and Falcons will go over the forty one
and a half.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
Saints and Falcons over the forty one and a half. Okay, Iowa, Sam.

Speaker 4 (03:49):
I'm gonna go.

Speaker 5 (03:50):
I'm gonna take a pick from college football, which is
where I usually go to. I'm looking at Minnesota going
on the road to Michigan.

Speaker 6 (04:00):
What are they?

Speaker 4 (04:01):
Damn?

Speaker 6 (04:01):
What is it?

Speaker 5 (04:01):
The little Brown jug? Yes, that's the trophy at steak
here in this game USC, Michigan managed to beat USC
with only like thirty some passing yards. Iowa managed to
beat Minnesota with only sixty some passing yards. What's the
correlation there? It's the running attack. Michigan had I believe

(04:25):
two hundred and ninety rushing yards on USC. Iowa had
to eighty three or in the high two seventies against.
Let me get the music stirred again. Oh, gotta keep
that gambler rolling Iowa had. Listen, Iowa can run the ball,
Michigan can run the ball. It's not gonna hold up
well for Minnesota. Michigan's gonna cover that ten and a

(04:48):
half points. They're gonna run it, run it. They don't
need to pass it. That's my pick.

Speaker 1 (04:53):
All right, this was pretty easy for me. I've been
telling you guys all year we watch Oklahoma, this is
gonna be a tough year for him. And we were
told all off season, Jackson Arnold is the man start,
you know, chiseling out the next statue for the next
Heisman Trophy. He's the guy, right, That's what we had heard.
Uh ohu is three and one four games in the season.

(05:16):
Jackson Arnold is now the backup quarterback and they're gonna start.
Michael Hawkins Junior look good on a drive against the
team that was ready to get out the door in
Tennessee six one six freshman out of Dallas, Texas, dual threat,
run past guy going down the planes take on Auburn. Now,
last time they pulled a quarterback four games in the season,

(05:37):
it was Kayleb Williams. I don't think Michael Hawkins is
Kayla Williams. I like Auburn, who's giving a point and
a half their favorites, even though they're two and two
and have lost two home games. I like Auburn to
win and cover. No, when let's say no, When to
walk wain? When, when to hold him? No?

Speaker 6 (05:58):
When to fold?

Speaker 3 (06:01):
When you never do it?

Speaker 7 (06:10):
Time?

Speaker 3 (06:16):
You got to know, well, when did Sam set this
up for half the second half of the song? Is
that tame account?

Speaker 2 (06:38):
Just got a phone call, a rare hotline phone call
from Scott Shapiro. It's the bat line is what we call.
Scott says you can't do more than one chorus and
that that's that. Uh, it has to be one one
chorus only. It's funny. I gotta I gotta call as well.

Speaker 3 (06:56):
It's from the estate of Kenny Rogers and they said
thank you very much because I mean it is skyrocketed
for the amount of times we play that song in
that segment, just airplay, airplay and more airplay.

Speaker 1 (07:08):

Speaker 1 (07:50):
You got the Fresh Chef Fresh Shay huh Man. I
haven't heard this. I'm gonna tell you when I heard
this song Doug Goallip Show, Fox Sports Radio ninety eight. Yeah,
we went to Joplin, Missouri, which for whatever reason people
say Missouri anyway, I do remember going out and hearing

(08:14):
this song. Jared Smith, our Fox Portradio betting analysts, co
host of the show Fox Ports Radios, count down to kickoff,
with which Warrenberger and Briano joins us in about five minutes.
We'll get to him first. Angel Reese said she thinks
the media has profited from her pain. Angel quote quote
tweeted a story about recent complaints about WNBA players on

(08:36):
the toxic treatment they got on social media, and she wrote,
for the past two years, the media has benefited from
my pain and me being villainized to create a narrative.
They allowed this. Reese wrote, this was beneficial to them.
I sometimes share my experiences of things that have happened
to me, but I've allowed this to happen to me

(08:57):
for way too long, And now other players in the
league are dealing with the same thing. This isn't okay
at all. I don't why are they Why are so
many women in the WNBA victims? Does anybody have an
answer to that one? I'm not really sure? And why

(09:22):
is she villainizing the media? Look, she was She's always
been an over the top kind of trash talker. That's
who she is. And I think just people didn't pay attention.
That's really all. Like nobody's cared up until now. So
now that we care and we're like, hey, you're not

(09:43):
supposed to act like that, like this is our problem.
But half of the media has been trying to put
her in the discussion of Rookie of the Year with
Caitlin Clark. That's the media too, right, So why are
we only villainized like only I don't know who's profited
off of her pain, though I don't know if she knows.

(10:04):
That's not how the media works. We don't profit off
your pain. It's a weird one, but it's kind of
a snapshot of this league where everybody has to play
the victim. You know, everybody has to do it, every
single one. Dan, you want to talk a little college football.

Speaker 3 (10:29):
Well, yeah, you know, we were doing the Gambler And
I just wanted to make a point about something that
dawned on me last week. And I don't know if
other people have realized this, or maybe they've already realized
it from day one, but this weekend, Georgia Alabama is
going to get the headlines. And it is a huge

(10:50):
game because it's two verses four. These schools didn't play
every year in the regular season.

Speaker 6 (10:57):
They would meet. We know why.

Speaker 3 (10:59):
It is an nor miss game and it is a
big game too when you think of what is ahead
with the college football playoff. But what dawned on me
last week and watching Illinois Nebraska was how big of
a game that actually was. And it wasn't about Nebraska
being back and can they remain unbeaten. It was a
big game because he had two teams during twenty second

(11:19):
and twenty fourth at the time that needed that game
to vault themselves into the conversation of the college football playoff,
and whoever lost that game would take a pretty significant
step back, while whoever won that game is now on
the cusp of possibly being a team that could see
themselves in the twelve team playoff. And it is a

(11:41):
ramification that I didn't know how far it would trickle
down to, but it dawned on me watching that game
last week on Fox on how important it was. And
it's a really big deal now for an Illinois team
that goes to Penn State is more than a two
touchdown underdog to go And if you were to knock
off ninth rank Penn State in that atmosphere in your

(12:03):
Illinois currently ranked nineteenth in the Ape Pole, you are
putting yourself in at a legitimate shot at being in
the college football Playoff. And it's not even that game, Doug,
You're alma mater of Oklahoma State needs to beat Kansas
State right now. They need to win this game this
weekend so you don't go back to back losses and
kind of drop out of the conversation. So I like

(12:24):
this with the twelve team playoff. I wasn't always a
fan of the expanded playoff, but we talk about talking
about more teams, especially at the end of the year.
I actually think we're talking about more teams way earlier
in the year than I ever thought that we Wouldno,
there may be times for other teams to make up stuff,
but you don't get to face a ranked team every
single week of the season, and so these opportunities when

(12:46):
you have these lower ranked teams meeting each other, I
think go a long long way in determining who's going
to be in the field of twelve.

Speaker 1 (12:54):
I think that's really fair. I think the other part too,
it is we just we have no idea, right, we
have no idea what gonna look like in two or
three weeks. And you know, Clemson's got a Stanford team
that just won, didn't They beat Syracuse on the road, right,
and Clemson comes in they scored sixty six and fifty
nine last two games. Let's see, because obviously they're embarrassed
by Georgia, but they have some opportunities with the down

(13:15):
Florida State team, with wake Forest in the road before
they get to Louisville at home, like not crazy, you
think they could climb back in the conversation, So I'm
with you. I do think that it's more interesting than
we would.

Speaker 3 (13:25):
Have if you're if you're an Illinois team, and I'm
just gonna use them because they used them as the
example off the just off the top of the show.
You've got to win at Nebraska's a big deal. And
now you go and you win at Penn State. If
you drop your game to Michigan in a couple of
weeks and maybe lose to Oregon, that's not going to
kill you. They also have to win against Kansas earlier

(13:47):
in the year, and you have a winnable schedule on
the way out. So this work that you do here
can really pay dividends down the line. And Louisville Notre
Dame was an interesting game. We think that Notre Dame's
gonna maybe get some favoritism. We said after week one,
all Notre Dame meat, Texas, A and m they've locked
their spot up in the playoff. Well, then they loose
to Northern Illinois and now you have a Louisville team.

(14:08):
By the way, it's going to have to bust to
South Bend four and a half hour drive because of
the storm that's hitting everywhere and wreaking havoc with travel.
But that's a pretty big game when you come to
looking at the college football playoff. So I'm I'm all
for it. I think it's a real big positive that
I don't think we necessarily looked at or thought would
be the case when we expanded. I thought we would

(14:30):
look at the end of November and say, oh, yeah,
there are more teams involved, but it has a wider
ranging effect nowadays.

Speaker 1 (14:36):
Yeah, I mean, listen, I still think when we get
to November, they'll be maybe twenty teams involved, right and
then you have over one hundred and twenty five teams.
So there's a lot that are playing for nothing at
that point in time. But it is much more interesting,
much more interesting right now, much more interesting right now.

Speaker 6 (14:54):
If you're in Oklahoma, yeah, you can throw it.

Speaker 3 (14:56):
I was just going to say, if you're an Oklahoma
State fan and you win this week, now you do
care what Illinois does, so maybe you're watching them, and
it's going to make it a much more national sport
in that way, because you're going to look at other
teams that maybe you're competing with, or that you're going
to need the jockey for position for if you want
to get back into that race.

Speaker 1 (15:14):
That's fair. Yeah. The year that we had what's his name,
we were just talking about them, Kenzie Hughes, Kensei Hughes.
That was our first year, right.

Speaker 4 (15:24):
It was.

Speaker 6 (15:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (15:25):
We played the North Course that year, I think, yes, yeah,
I don't.

Speaker 1 (15:29):
Remember much about that one. That was it. Farmer's Insurance
used to be our biggest sponsor, and we go down
there for the Farmers Open, and that was my first
year going there. We went, I went to drinks the
night before and then we teed off after Tiger Woods,
and so I just desperately wanted that entire thousand people
to get as far away from as possible. And I
was in bad shape. I was in bad shape bad.

(15:52):
I am not a drinker, I am not a partier,
and I was that night and I was in bad shape.
It's all banged up.

Speaker 2 (16:00):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (16:01):
Second year took it a little bit more seriously. We won.
That's that's what happened. Oh, that's that's that's what happened.
And the third year we had Hunter Mayhn and We
just had a good time, just had a good time.
It's Doug Gottlieb Show here on Fox Sports Radio. Let's
welcome to Jared Smith. He's our He's our Fox Sports
Radio betting expert, betting gambling expert. You can check out

(16:21):
a Foxport Tridios count Down to Kickoff with Rich Ornberger
and Bryano airs each Saturday between nine am and new
and Eastern time. Listen live on any of our Fox
Sports Tridio Phillips on the iHeartRadio presented by Bett m
g m uh. Let's uh, let's let's let's have this
conversation here, Jared we go. Let's start with the u
n LV situation. Okay, U n l V versus their quarterback. Now,

(16:43):
some locals are trying to save this deal. What ends
up happening with the with the running reps?

Speaker 4 (16:48):
Yeah, I did hear.

Speaker 9 (16:49):
Actually some local casino owners here in town even wanting
to try to get involved. Obviously, some regulations might might
some corporate red tape have to cut through there.

Speaker 4 (16:59):
It will be interesting.

Speaker 9 (17:01):
I do think this is kind of a fork in
the road, and we've you know, had to embrace so
much change in college football over the last few years.
This seems like another wrinkle to it. The ind season
changes with the red shirt rules and how many games
you can play and what the promises are, and it's
I think at the end of the day, both sides
are gonna kind of come out, you know, a little

(17:22):
egg on their face here. I think I could definitely
see some improprieties on both sides. But at the end
of the day, Doug Unolv's got a game this week
and they're in the race to win the Mountain West
then go to the Collegeball playoff, and I don't see
a huge drop off between Sluka and the backup. Who's
another FCS transfer, hojma Leiku Williams came in from Campbell,
has a ton of experience, played five years with Campbell,

(17:44):
forty one career starts, a little bit more accurate, a.

Speaker 4 (17:46):
Little bit more mobile.

Speaker 9 (17:48):
Sluka was brought in to be the starter from Holy
Cross in the off season, but these two kind of
battled it out for the starting job. So I you know,
you saw this number move. It was four and a half,
and then it got down about to pick them. You
saw some U and OV money come in. I just
gave out two and a half on on our weekly
video we do for the show, and I could see
the rebels kind of rallying here. Barry Odam's a great coach.

(18:09):
I did hear it was a positive reaction to the
news in the locker room this week. So I would
not be surprised if we're kind of getting a discount
on UNLV to win this game at home on against Fresno.

Speaker 1 (18:20):
HM, and so ends the most the time of most
discussion of you UNLV football.

Speaker 8 (18:29):
Ever.

Speaker 4 (18:29):
Never know that might be in the playoff this year, Doug.

Speaker 1 (18:31):
Never know, they're not. I do know they're not gonna be.

Speaker 4 (18:33):
In the plan, probably not, but they have a chance.

Speaker 1 (18:36):
Have a chance, they do, I guess have a chance.
That's that's a fair short of way of of of
looking at its Doug Gotlieb Show here on Fox Sports Radio.
Jared Smith is, of course, our Fox Sports Radio lead
betting analyst. Uh, let's get to a couple of other
things from UH from this upcoming weekend Bama Georgia. Right

(18:59):
the numbers. If people aren't paying attention, that's fine, We'll
help you out. We'll prep you for what is, without question,
the big game of the weekend in the SEC the
big game of the weekend in all of college football.
The Tide are at home and they're taking on the Dogs,
of course, have won two of the last three national championships,

(19:19):
and Bama is a one point dog at home. It's
what I'm looking at. Should be some rain in the forecast.
Forty nine is the over under?

Speaker 6 (19:26):
What do you got?

Speaker 9 (19:27):
Yeah, I think as this gets closer to a pick them,
I'm a little bit more intrigued with Georgia if they do.
If Bama does close the home dog, it'll be the
first time since O seven, one hundred and thirteen straight
home games.

Speaker 4 (19:38):
Favored for Alabama.

Speaker 9 (19:39):
That's the longest streak in the FBS over the last
three decades. But Georgia, listen, I mean, in the last
fifty one games, they can't beat Bama or forty eight
zero against everyone else, one and two against Bama. So
it's kind of this, do you take the points at home?
It's really not any significant points at this point. I
think Georgia's offense is in a good bounce back spot.

(20:00):
You look at Bowers and McConkie being Day one starters
in the NFL, and you think, all right, maybe this
Georgia offense is going to take a step back. I
don't think as highly as Mike Bobo as I do
Todd Mounkin, and I think there's a downgrade there too.
But typically in this Kirby Smart era, after bad games,
and they've had a few. They laid an egg at
Auburn last year, they didn't play well at Missouri, didn't

(20:22):
play well at Kentucky in twenty two. Usually they rebound,
and I think what I'm noticing with Bama, especially defensively,
they have not faced the good offense all year. Western
Kentucky is not the same offense they were. Couldn't even
get the ten points offensive points at home against Toledo
last week. Usf quarterback Byron Brown, one of the more
inaccurate quarterbacks in the country. This year, Wisconsin's offense has

(20:45):
completely lost their identity. I don't know ifhil Longo is
going to make it through the year. So you can
make the case that this Bama defense just has not
seen the level of athletes, the level of quarterback play
that they're going to see on Saturday from Carson Beck.

Speaker 6 (20:57):
Now.

Speaker 9 (20:57):
Beck did look very uncomfortable in the pocket against Kentuck.
I think the run game will be huge here. With
Etn and Fraser both averaging about six per carry, the
skill guys get a little healthier out of the buy
the Miami transfer Colby Young dealing with a hams ring injury.
Since Camp Dominic Love, the Mazook transfer has been their
most consistent player. I think after that egg against Kentucky,
you give Kirby a bye. I think I trust their

(21:18):
offense to bounce back a little bit more than what
I've seen from Bama's defense so far. On the other side,
Jalen Milroe is a game break like. He is the
game wrecker if Bama's going to win this game. The
path is explosive plays, and he's one of the best
deep throwers in the country. The problem is the offensive
line hasn't protected Proctor. Tackle hasn't graded out well. Booker,
the left guard's been very disappointing. They're having issues with
the snap. Like their center came from Washington, the board

(21:42):
brought him over.

Speaker 4 (21:43):
He's like two.

Speaker 9 (21:43):
Hundred and eighty pounds. Can he hold up in the
SEC against Georgia? Having snap issues in what's going to
be a frienzed environment. So I think those are kind
of the game. The game within the game there, can
Georgia get their ground game going and really churn out
some yards against Bama's defense.

Speaker 4 (21:56):
And can Jalen Milroe hit the explosive play.

Speaker 9 (21:58):
And just equalize every momentum swing in this game? I
think the I think the spreads right. I think it
is a close game. I think I lean Bam at home.
But man had to pick them. It's tough not to
take Georgia.

Speaker 1 (22:10):
Okay, it's Cherry Smith. He's joining us in the Doug
Gottlieb Show here on Fox Sports Radio or mind. You
can download the podcast as soon as as soon as
we're done here and you can hear all of these picks.
You're like, Man, I missed a pick. Don't worry. Like
our friend of yours missed to pick Virginia Tech Miami.
We discussed this one. What do you think?

Speaker 9 (22:29):
Yeah, I think with Virginia Tech, I'm really concerned about
their offense and what we've seen for Miami so far
this year. I mean, they've been arguably the best offense
in the country, fifty plus points in three straight games.
They haven't done that since O one when they when
they won it.

Speaker 4 (22:43):
All Tech needs to wake up.

Speaker 9 (22:45):
They've already lost twice at home to a favorite this
year at Van and Rutgers. I think the Miami offense
obviously has an edge. The question is, can is Virginia
Tech defense stop the run and just you know, make
it a stalemate in the trenches, because the live of
the programs right now are going in absolutely opposite directions.
Miami's been upgraded throughout the start of the year by
all the pros, Virginia Tech's been downgrade And even though

(23:07):
Virginia Tech did have some hype coming into the year,
but the offense just hasn't lived up the expectations. Tyler
Bowen has not done a good job game planning. They
were down seventeen at Vandy, down fourteen in the first
quarter to Rutgers, only up three against Marshall in the
first half, and had a four point lead against Old
Dominion against the backup quarterback. Like, you can't be taking
seriously if those are the results against that level of competition.

(23:27):
The only it kind of reminds me a little bit
of a poor man's drones. Kind of reminds me of
a poor man's mill row. Like I think he has
the explosive ability rock and arm not as consistent, not
as mobile, but still very mobile.

Speaker 4 (23:40):
And that's that's the path is.

Speaker 9 (23:42):
You know, Miami just kind of has a couple of
mistakes here or there, and Virginia Tech hits a couple
of those explosive plays and takes a lead, and you
force Miami to play from a negative game script. And
Mario crystal Ball, who has been very good this year,
surprisingly in his game planning, you know.

Speaker 4 (23:58):
I do expect to hiccup at some point from him.

Speaker 9 (24:00):
So the numbers getting out of control, Miami should win
the game, but I could see a path for Virginia
Tech if they can hit a.

Speaker 4 (24:05):
Couple of these explosives with drones to cover the number.

Speaker 9 (24:08):
Hm.

Speaker 1 (24:09):
Okay, Illinois Penn State. Illinois's an eighteen point dog at
Penn State. The totals forty eight.

Speaker 9 (24:14):
Yeah, and I wanted to get involved with Penn State here,
but again, the early market just really steamed the Ninny
Lions up. The numbers, kind of telling you that Penn
State's gonna win this game.

Speaker 1 (24:25):
Right.

Speaker 9 (24:26):
Illinois undefeated and roundefeated the first nine in like fifteen years,
but in their prior thirty four games against ranked opponents
are two and thirty two. Granted they're two and oh
this year, but oh in thirty two prior, so again
big step up in class. I think Luke Altmeyer, we
talked about him last week in the game against Nebraska.

(24:46):
I've seen a ton of improvement there. I like their
receiver group, Bryant's flash, he's got six touchdowns, Bryan the other,
Bryan Soakary Bryant, the UTSA transfer has also been very consistent.
The Penn State defense, as you know, offense state along.
I try to look at them as objectively as possible.
I don't think their defense is as good as last year.
I think the on paper they seem as good. But

(25:09):
Abdul Carter's going through a position switch. He hasn't lived
up to the expectations with his hand in the dirt.
Dennis Sutton's kind of been the guy in the middle,
and they've been really good, you know, stopping the Ron
Durant on the interiors play well. They got the Georgia
transfer in the secondary.

Speaker 4 (25:22):
Has been good.

Speaker 9 (25:23):
But Bowling Green, who's a very experienced team, was very simple.
It was play action RPO, tight ends over the middle
like Luke Altmeyer can kind of replicate that, and Bowling
Green really stayed in that game. So you're seeing again
this number now get close to twenty. I just I
can't see a reason to backpen State at that number.

(25:43):
I think when you see these these favorites get bet
up considerably throughout the week, you're just waiting for the
bypoint on the underdog, And I think twenty is kind
of where I would be for Illinois in this game.

Speaker 1 (25:55):
Doug gotlib show here on Fox Sports Radio Colorado. I
was to Central Florida in Orlando.

Speaker 6 (26:03):
What do you think?

Speaker 4 (26:04):
Yeah, really good game here.

Speaker 9 (26:06):
So can you seef get the pressure on Shador Sanders
like Baylor did with seven sacks the I mean the
spot like the Spot's screens, you seef you get the
hail Mary, the comeback win.

Speaker 4 (26:18):
UCF's off a bye.

Speaker 9 (26:20):
You've seen them get bet up in the market considerably
this week, and it just again, once you get over
that two touchdown threshold, it just it feels really tough
to back a favorite. But I do like the spot
for UCF. They're good at stopping the run. They haven't
gotten a lot of sacks this year. Again, that that's
the question, because that's been the issue for Colorado's offense
this year.

Speaker 4 (26:38):
Camperget Shador Sanders. He's holding onto the ball way too long.

Speaker 9 (26:40):
He's taking sixteen sacks already this year. There's still a
top five passing offense. He's still got a seventy percent
completion rate. You've got the I would say the best
player in the country, Travis Hunter, and the number two
and three guys Horn and Western. I would it might
be number one receivers on a lot of teams. So
it's just this very unbalanced team that's just so explosive
on the outside, but so bad in the middle and

(27:01):
in the trenches. And that's where a good team like UCF,
which does have dudes, can kind of bottle things up.

Speaker 4 (27:08):
Again.

Speaker 9 (27:08):
The one issue for UCF's defense has been in their secondary,
their experience, but they're not talented mac McWilliams. Their best
corner is a UAB transfer, and then Brandon Adams on
the other side got lit up by Sam Houston State
a couple weeks ago. So the back door is just
it seems like you watched the NFL game last night, Doug,
like these favorites get out the big leads and then
they just they just throttle down and you have to

(27:30):
lay more than a touchdown with this with this UCF
team that again can get beat explosively. So I think
you just wait and you hope that the favorites get
bet up.

Speaker 4 (27:38):
It's at fourteen right now.

Speaker 9 (27:40):
If it gets higher than that, I think that's where
UCF money or excuse me, Colorado money will start to
come into the market.

Speaker 1 (27:46):
Did you see the Raiders ruled Max Crosby out and
DeVante out as well? Business decisions, right, yeah, any reason to.

Speaker 9 (27:56):
Not take the Browns you've got to I mean the
number at this point point it flipped. I saw it
at one on one side, so it was Vegas.

Speaker 1 (28:04):
I got one and a half right now, Browns one
and a half road favorite.

Speaker 9 (28:07):
And that's again if you think about just the probability there,
Like I know you're like, oh, that's two points. That's
a lot of movement, but the game can't land zero.
So you take that point out one to one on
the other side, it's like a fifty one to forty
nine percent win probability shift.

Speaker 4 (28:23):
It's not a.

Speaker 9 (28:24):
Huge move, but I would say that those two players,
maybe you know, denotes a little bit more. Usually the
quarterbacks the only player that really impacts the point spread
more than a point. But in this case, maybe it's
kind of a canary in the coal mine when you're like, wow,
Crosby and Adams are you know, not willing to play
through whatever they have. Maybe it's kind of a shift

(28:48):
inside the locker room and how things are going, you know, internally,
And I think that's where you would get worried if
you think you're getting a discount on Vegas.

Let's get to the press, shall we.

Speaker 8 (30:34):
The press?

Speaker 1 (30:44):
Dan Buyer? What's in the press, Doug?

Speaker 3 (30:46):
We got a lot of news from the National Football
League and then a little bit of this and a
little bit of that. So let's start in the NFL
where Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert was on the practice field
today right now, trending towards being on the field Sunday
when they faced the Kansas City Chiefs.

Speaker 6 (31:03):
Trending that way.

Speaker 3 (31:04):
It appears with no official word from the Chargers, but
Justin Herbert practicing today, which is a good sign.

Speaker 1 (31:11):
Yeah, it's a very good sign. At Chel three pointed
out that just herbs on the perfect quarterback, but man,
is he tougher than hell any d dude. And it's interesting,
right that was one of the things that was questioned
was because how he played Oregon were they kind of
dinked and dunked, and people thought that, you know, he
didn't want to stand there and there and take hits
like Nope, that that's got report was wrong.

Speaker 3 (31:33):
You know, I saw something popped up last night after
the Giants game. And this is completely separate, but it
contains the Chargers and Justin Herbert, do you think we're
going to have a Joe alt versus Malik Neighbors conversation
over the next five or ten years like we have
with Pinay Sewell and Jamar Chase. And we talked about

(31:56):
Joe Burrow's health so much and what Jamar Chase is
provided him with a target, But maybe the Bengals don't
have it on the offensive line. We're Sewell's now in
Detroit thriving with the Lions, maybe the best offensive lineman
we've got in the National Football League. Do you think
we're gonna have that with Joe alt to Molik Neighbors.

Speaker 6 (32:17):
I do.

Speaker 1 (32:19):
In what way?

Speaker 3 (32:20):
Well, just where we will look at, Oh what could
have been because of who? Because the Chargers chose to
go with the right tackle instead of Neighbors. By the way,
isn't concussion protocol according to Brian Dable. But the start
of the year for Malik Neighbors has been magnificence.

Speaker 1 (32:37):
It's been awesome. Yeah. The issue with Joe Alta is again,
like so much of that position, we just don't see,
just don't see.

Speaker 3 (32:45):
If the Chargers win and go to a Super Bowl,
there's not going to be as much talk about it,
But I just wonder as you.

Speaker 1 (32:54):
Going to Super Bowl right now? But yes, you're right,
I mean, look this is it also is the problem
though with wide receivers is we see their work more
than we see the work of left.

Speaker 6 (33:02):
Tackles and right tackles.

Speaker 3 (33:05):
Moving on to Vante Smith of the Philadelphia Eagles ruled
out of their game against the Buccaneers because of a concussion.
One of the difficult images that we saw from that
game against the Saints in Week three was Smith being
on the field without his helmet on and then being
hit by Saints defensive tackle Christian Boyd. Well Boyd was
fined today forty six hundred dollars by the NFL for

(33:29):
that hit. There's a reason why the fine may seem low,
and we've seen other fines be up and around fifteen
sixteen thousand dollars. It's because of the salary that Boyd makes.
The maximum he can be fined is ten percent of
his weekly take home, which would be forty four thousand,

(33:49):
six hundred dollars. That's why he was fined four thousand,
six hundred dollars.

Speaker 1 (33:56):
It's an interesting way of coming upon that math.

Speaker 3 (33:59):
Sure, but a guys who make a lot more money
would be fined a lot more money. Yeah, but they
would get they also have a lot more money. But
for him it was pro rated because of where he
was salary wise. I'll have a couple of other injury
news and items in the NFL, especially was it pertains
to fantasy football and more. But there is this story
from ESPN saying that the Jets hold out edge rusher

(34:23):
Hassan Redick wouldn't mind a trade back to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Speaker 6 (34:28):
How about that one?

Speaker 1 (34:31):
Hmm, yeah, okay, sure. I mean, like, what my man is,
just go out and play football, dude, try and get
your next contract.

Speaker 6 (34:46):
That's that's all you That's all you have to do,
all right.

Speaker 1 (34:50):
That's a crazy one though. By the way, this I
would go back there when I forced them to trade
because they wouldn't give me a contract. And then I
went to a new place and I couldn't get a contract,
and now I want a new contract in the place it
wouldn't give me a contract.

Speaker 3 (34:59):
Okay, they say the grass is always greener. Are the
uniforms greener in Philadelphia as opposed to the to the Jets?

Speaker 6 (35:07):
I don't know. The Jets have really embraced this green look.

Speaker 1 (35:09):
Yeah, well if you don't wear your uniform though, fair enough.

Speaker 3 (35:14):
Speaking of green, the Green Bay Packers are listening. Jordan
Love is questionable for their game against the Vikings because
of his knee injury that's forced him to miss the
last two weeks.

Speaker 1 (35:23):
Do you play him?

Speaker 6 (35:24):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (35:24):
Do you try and get by?

Speaker 6 (35:26):
You play him. It's why you didn't play him last week?

Speaker 1 (35:29):
Correct? Correct? This, This is a game, it's a divisional game.
It's a good team, by the way, going to be
a beautiful day at Lambeau seventy five and Sonny, we
have zero clouds in the sky right now, not a one.
And if you look at the Packers upcoming schedule Rams
in La, Cardinals at home Texans, which would be a
really good one in a couple of weeks. But this

(35:52):
is too big a game. You got play.

Speaker 3 (35:53):
The Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons has a high ankle spraying
Cowboys defensive end to Marcus Lawrence has got foot injury.
Head coach Mike McCarthy confirming today that Lawrence's injury is
more significant than what Parsons has to deal with. NFL
Network reporter that Lawrence is expected to miss multiple games
with that injury, So you get a win, but you

(36:14):
end up losing two key parts on defense.

Speaker 1 (36:16):
Yes, well, DeMarcus Lawrence, he missed a lot of time.
Any Like, how many games in his life has he missed?

Speaker 3 (36:24):
I'm not sure. But it also is more on Dak
Prescott's and Ceedee Lamb because that defense is not going
to be able to like.

Speaker 1 (36:32):
The offense was pretty good either yesterday.

Speaker 3 (36:34):
Correct, just some fantasy stuff as we wrap it up.
No DeVante Adams for the Raiders. Alvin Kamara was on
the practice field today for the Saints. That's good news Texans.
We'll have Nico Collins Joe Mixon practice today. Tank Dell
has been ruled out. The Bears. Have the Rams come
into town. Rome Dunjays off the injury report. Well, Keenan
Allen is questionable because of his heel injury. And no

(36:56):
Trey McBride for the Cardinals out against Washington because of
his cancut. And the international squad may be coming all
the way back at the President's Cup. At the start
of the day, the US up five to nothing after
winning all five matches yesterday. The international team has won
three today, and they currently lead in the two that
are still on the course. We could be even at

(37:16):
five apiece after today. Doug, that is the press.

Speaker 1 (37:19):
That is the press bag. Get out there and press.

Speaker 8 (37:22):
That was the press.

Speaker 1 (37:24):
It's the Doug Gottlieb Show here on Fox Sports Radio. Buyer,
who do you think wins Georgia Alabama?

Speaker 6 (37:30):
I'll give me the home team in Alabama.

Speaker 1 (37:31):
Yeah, I kind of think home team Alabama. Milroe back
second year. You know so much is about stability at
the quarterback position. But ma'am, if you see look at
the Raiders line, I'd loot up on the Browns too.
