It's the way tire buying, uh say, the tire Bude
should be. You ever have one of those? This is
probably sharing too much. It's like it's not a burp,

(00:43):
it's not a belch, but it's like, all of a sudden,
you get that little air and you're like, wait, what's
gonna happen here? And you're like, now, I'm good, I'm good. No,
it doesn't happen to anybody. It just happens to me.
We got a lot to get to. I'm really really
excited to talk some I want to talk spots with you.

(01:05):
I think part of it, guys, is now we move
into the next phase of sports, right where you've got
masters into the NBA playoffs. And while I uh, while
we would kind of all conclude that for the most part,
the NBA season was kind of a wall wall, it

(01:29):
does lend itself to the postseason being pretty interesting. Right,
Lakers are viable, whether they're they're not a favorite, but
they're viable deep into the Western Conference finals. Same thing
can be said for the Golden State Warriors. Obviously you
still have Oklahoma City, as you know, having the best record,
but can they actually you know, get to the NBA Finals.

(01:51):
And then even in the East, you watched the Celtics
and the Knicks last night. If they were to match
up in the playoffs, it'd be competitive. And you throw
in Cleveland, Uh, you know, I think those are the
three teams whom I'm missing in the East. But NBA
playoff basketball is usually big time, and we haven't had
nearly the injuries we've had in years in the past.

(02:12):
There's still time, but we haven't had the injuries of
years in the past. But when we get to a Wednesday,
which is the middle of the week, we get to
the middle of the show because we have the podcast
that follows the show, so it's a three hour tour.
We get to the midway.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
It's not getting the middle, it's time for the midway.

Speaker 1 (02:35):
Okay, So Jason, you are the arbituur of topics, right,
and Sammy threw out a couple I thought Dan nailed
what I was sort of getting into there. We came
up with what this this, what do you like about

(02:57):
the second quarter of sports? Right? This next sort of
wave this next space because you have masters, NBA playoffs,
NFL Draft. I'm sure there's other things I'm forgetting that
Dan is gonna remind me of. That's the midway topic,
is it not.

Speaker 3 (03:14):
It actually was not resolved, so I threw that out.
What you just described for the midway, it is the
middle of the first half of the year. What are
you looking forward to seeing play out in the second
quarter of the year. I also threw out that maybe
we could come up with snarky lebron Ken dolls. They

(03:35):
could make more Ken dolls and one could be starving
for attention Lebron. One could be over sensitive father Lebron.
And then Sam threw in a topic about officiating in
your favorite teams the one time than an official ruin

(03:56):
your day by making a call, and you'll never forget it.

Speaker 4 (04:02):
This is in light of obviously a lot of hot
talk on Twitter last night with Luca's ejection and you know,
the officials being blamed because his you know, trash talking
was not directed at them, It was directed at a fan,
and the fan, of course got away with it.

Speaker 5 (04:20):
And so I was thinking about, you.

Speaker 4 (04:22):
Know, times where the officials were clearly wrong and they
cost you or your team, or I mean any team.
Doesn't that for be your team, to cost a team
a game, not saying that that costs like they forgive
me here, I didn't see the game.

Speaker 3 (04:37):
Did they win? They won the game?

Speaker 4 (04:38):
The Lakers they lost, but that didn't I don't know did.
Lebron said it got weird for a few minutes afterward,
but well was it?

Speaker 1 (04:44):
They were up by too and they lost by like
double digits, So yeah, it got it got weird because
the Lakers were like, wait, you threw them out for
talking trash to a fan when you thought it was
directed to you.

Speaker 4 (04:53):
It did get weird, got weird, and you maybe maybe
it costs him the game.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
But uh, I'm gonna go with with Jay Stew's because
Dan and j stew are aligned and I'm mostly aligned
with that, So go ahead, go ahead, Jase two.

Speaker 3 (05:09):
I think the the storyline that is most intriguing for
me to follow is when the w NBA starts up.
Not because I'm excited about the WNBA. I'm just interested
in seeing what's Kitlin Clark two point zero brings. Is
there going to be a more appreciative set of players

(05:30):
and commentators when we entered the Kitlin Clark Now that
we've seen what she did to the ratings for the
college basketball compared year to year, is there going to
be more of an appreciative tone or are they just
still going to be a bunch of whiny asses about
her success.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
Well, my thing is, I don't think that it's I
don't think that's what's missing. I think it's there's just
no ability to be balanced because there was so much negativity.
There was enough negativity from many of the w NBA
current former players that there was there was balance because

(06:12):
others offered so much praise that there was nothing in
the middle. Again, the easiest point to make would be, hey,
what about when I pointed out the fact she shot
the ball from the wrong side of her head, right,
it's a flaw that she needed to correct something. By
the way she has worked on she has corrected. But
if you offer up any sort of constructive criticism, you're

(06:32):
met with the same sort of negativity and pushback. So
I agree with you that balance is needed, but I
don't think that it's an over I think others have
been over correcting.

Speaker 5 (06:47):
I'm curious to see within that of how much is
is Angel Reese and Kitlin Clark going to be their
magic bird if you will? Is there at any point
where Kitlyn Clark moves off of that? Because I just
looked at the opening schedule and the opening weekend, and
there's a triple header on the first Saturday. I think

(07:10):
the game start on a Friday night with likely Paige
Becker's making her debut for the Dallas Wings on that
Friday night. But on Saturday on ABC, they're actually only
doing a doubleheader, so it's the Aces against the Liberty
and then the Sky and the Fever. Do they end
up separating at some point? Do they go their separate

(07:30):
ways or are they always just going to be tied together,
because it sure seems that the WNBA is trying to
keep them tied together if they're opening the season with
that marquee game in that window of having the Sky
against the Fever.

Speaker 3 (07:46):
It's a good point and I'm hoping, I really hope
that Angel Reaves gets a chance to repeat her take
that the popularity of the game is not just because
of one person, it's because of two her and Caitlin.

Speaker 5 (08:01):
Oh, it's hilarious.

Speaker 6 (08:03):
It's the best.

Speaker 3 (08:05):
Oh man, Dan, what are you looking forward to in
the second quarter of twenty twenty five.

Speaker 5 (08:11):
I'll tell you what. It's funny. I am not as
excited about the NFL Draft as I would be in
previous years because I do think that it's a watered
down product. I do look ahead to the schedule release
that we've got coming up in May. But I'll tell
you what it's going to be in golf, and it's

(08:32):
gonna be over these next two months because the US
Open is going back to Oakmont, which is my favorite
course really outside of Augusta National and the favorite course
that I had an opportunity to play. It is a
grind outside of Pittsburgh, and so to see the Masters
happening this weekend, PGA Championship is at quil Hollow in

(08:56):
mid May in Charlotte. That's a nice warm up, but
it's the US Open coming up in June, because when
you go to Oakmont, that's when the complaining comes out.
Phil Mickelson complained in two thousand and seven. I don't
know how thick the rough was. I think he heard
his wrist at that point. Dustin Johnson, the last time

(09:17):
at Oakmont there was controversy because of his ball moving
on the green. Ended up winning, but still controversy with
the USGA and that setup.

Speaker 2 (09:26):
But it's just a.

Speaker 5 (09:27):
Great test of golf that brutalizes players and it's one
of my favorites in one of my favorite cities in
the US, Pittsburgh. So I'm really looking forward to the
US Open coming up in June. Obviously, love the Masters
is I'm not going to be here, but I think
it sets this Masters, We'll set the tone for what
we could see in the major season, And really looking

(09:50):
forward to that US Open.

Speaker 1 (09:56):
This is weird, right, I don't think there's any one thing. Look,
I talked about the NBA playoffs little bit, but just
kind of all of it, because there are outside of
the NBA playoffs. There events that you don't have to
be fully invested in. I help me understand, Like, I

(10:19):
haven't watched a round of golf this year, so I don't,
you know, just in prepping for this show, I found
out a Roy's. But Roy's won two tournaments, you know,
like I've been kind of busy. I don't watch NASCAR,
I don't watch IndyCar, I don't watch Formula One, except
I do love the reality show. But I'm still fired

(10:39):
up about the Indy five hundred. I just I like
to throw it on it. It feels feels like America
sort of thing, right the Masters the US opened the
like you name it even even you know again, I'm
not a w NBA fan, but I do want to
watch the Fever play probably the first game the season,

(11:01):
because they've gone through a complete revamp. Right. They changed
their coach, they changed like almost the entire roster all
around Caitlin Clark, and now they're the biggest thing in
the league. I remember going back before they got her,
they were they were the laughing stock of the league.
So I think I'm interested in the fact that I
can't name a sorry, can't name another player in the fever,

(11:21):
don't care, can't name a driver is gonna drive in
the Indy five hundred, don't care. Honestly, couldn't tell you
a ton about about the what's going on the PGA
and Live other than the fact that they're not still together.
Don't care, don't have to. I love the fact that
a lot of these spring sporting events, I don't have
to have some deep level of investment in order to

(11:43):
enjoy watching.

Speaker 4 (11:45):
Doug if I was a Green Bay Phoenix fan, which
I guess I am now I am, I'm I'm watching,
I'm paying attention. When when would I expect that your team,
the roster is fully locked in? That seems like something
to be coming up in this sports quarter that late summer.

Speaker 1 (12:02):
No, No, we will not go late because you're aready practicing.

Speaker 3 (12:04):
You're already.

Speaker 1 (12:05):
No, you're doing spring workouts. But we don't have a
full squad.

Speaker 3 (12:09):
You know, full team.

Speaker 4 (12:10):
So whenning would I expect that roster is locked in
concrete on paper, in penn, in penn, written in penn.

Speaker 1 (12:17):
Yeah, September fourth, written in pencil, June first.

Speaker 4 (12:23):
Okay, okay, So we.

Speaker 1 (12:25):
We have school until May and then we break and
we're back June. First, we go a seven week program whatever,
but that that's in pencil. So yeah, I mean, look
that right now is portal season. We've had one, two, three,
I think four official visits. One player committed yesterday last night,
and then we have three visits this weekend. We got

(12:51):
two visits I think the following weekend. So we're getting there.

Speaker 4 (12:56):
Okay, So between June and September, your roster could change
a little bit more.

Speaker 1 (13:00):
Well, you could always leave a spot open, uh, or
you could have one. You're like, yes, then Mark then.

Speaker 4 (13:06):
Pit Okay, all right, but it's fully say it's fully
it's written, it's it's inscribed by September, is what you're
telling me.

Speaker 1 (13:16):
Yeah, we don't start school here till September. Most people
start school in August. We start school in September. So
once you're enrolled in school and you take classes like
you're you're on our Uh, you're you're part of this
deal for better for worse.

Speaker 5 (13:31):
So Sam's looking forward to Doug filling out his roster.
That's That's what I've surmised.

Speaker 1 (13:37):
Or is it You're just interested in portal season and
how it.

Speaker 4 (13:39):
Yeah, it wasn't necessarily my I just wanted to ask,
like upcoming, you know, like Iowa right now has added
a bunch of Drake guys, no surprise. The team is
still a bit surprise. So you're just curious because that
process to me still isn't like I can schedule out
in my head. I still need to know, like it's

(13:59):
because it's so still relatively new, like the whole when
guys can join a team and when the rosters are
finally finalized. To me, it's a little bit foreign to me,
and I'm still kind of trying to knock out work
out the schedule it is.

Speaker 1 (14:10):
It is a whole new world, you know, whereas we
got well, when I got the job last May fifteenth,
I had five guys and I felt a little rushed
and there wasn't a lot there. And I would say
that there's there was a couple of guys that I
probably took a couple too many, and I took a
couple of guys that you know, were for various reasons

(14:32):
and they didn't end up fitting. So yeah, I'm more
than willing to take my time.

Speaker 6 (14:36):
Now.

Speaker 1 (14:36):
You do have to at some point speed some guys
up and go like, hey, you know you want to
be a starter. I got to have a player at
your level. If I sign you, I'm not going to
take another guy at that position, or if I take
another guy, I'm not going to take you. So yeah,
so there is a it's a it's a little.

Speaker 5 (14:56):
Bit of a hurry up and wait, I do want
to say, and I think that this is fitting for
Doug and maybe fitting for many others, maybe not necessarily.
In the SEC or the ACC where you play a
lot of college baseball or college softball, is a big
deal now that the tournament is over. When you're in
those college towns or you're covering those college sports, the

(15:17):
breather is now because college hoops is over, and it's
when college football ends up taking over in August. You'll
have media days in late July. But I just remember
being in that college scenario where you just get to
the beginning of April and through the tournament, and then
you connect sale for about three or four months, and

(15:39):
then the cycle starts up again once practice for college
football begins in the summer.

Speaker 1 (15:44):
Yeah, they do have a spring games right upcoming.

Speaker 5 (15:47):
Sure, Yeah, some are wrapping up at this point as well.
I think is in Colorado's this weekend and yeah, but
over the next couple of weeks you'll you'll have that,
but there is an end of an end of your
long run of if you're covering sports for a does
it feel to you?

Speaker 6 (16:06):
Do you?

Speaker 1 (16:07):
Does it feel to you that school now? And I
think California schools are solely coming around this, but it
doesn't feel like they go to school nearly as much.
And it's done in May, and it starts in mid
August like everywhere now. And part of the adjustment for
me is, you know, I was California. It's always been,
or used to always be. You start after labor day

(16:29):
from the end in June, but now everything's gotten earlier
and earlier earlier instead of in terms of the ending
and the beginning.

Speaker 5 (16:35):
Again, yes, I've been surprised at how early things start
out here. I think back where you are, Doug, it's
more of the late August or after labor Day, or
maybe just a couple of days before labor Day. But
it's I'll tell you where it's a big deal is
tourism boards in the state. Because I remember back in

(16:56):
the day, back in where you are, Dug in Wisconjohnson,
you wanted school to be done by Memorial Day and
then start at Labor Day. And if school went too
much in the summer, it would take away some of
the weeks that you would have for tourism, whether you're
going to water parks in Wisconsin, dolls or going other places.
Those places always had that they school was a big factor,

(17:20):
because if you're starting school on August tenth, that's three
good weeks of summer vacation that these summer tourist spots
aren't getting.

Speaker 1 (17:28):
People. Sure, it's a good point. Nobody mentioned I am
excited April twenty fourth, So am I April twenty fourth birthday? Oh,
happy birthday, Brody? Is the NFL Draft in Green Bay.

Speaker 5 (17:44):
I did say that I wasn't jacked about it, but
I can understand. I'm excited to see the whole process
of who the Seahawks are going to take.

Speaker 1 (17:52):
You're not jacked about it because why?

Speaker 5 (17:54):
I just I think that it's a down draft class.
That that was kind of my point. Yeah, I agree,
not that I hate the drought. Watch the from start
to finish, listen to it on Fox Sports Radio, the
whole deal. But it's just not as marquis of a
draft class.

Speaker 1 (18:05):
As with that of the past. Why do you think
that is?

Speaker 5 (18:08):
And just ebbs and flows, Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (18:11):
Yeah, yeah, yeah yeah, And that's the.

Speaker 1 (18:31):
What Up Doug Gottlieb Show Fox Sports Radio. Daniel Jeremiah
joins us here move the sticks to this podcast. Of course,
he'll be the lead analyst for the NFL Network, which
we'll have covered show the NFL Draft starting April twenty
fourth in Green Bay, Wisconsin. DJ, Have you made a plan?

(18:52):
I think we're here and it's going to be in
the sixties, but you know, forties, thirties at night. What's
what's the what's the plan in terms of attire for
staying warm?

Speaker 6 (19:04):
Well, I haven't even looked at the weather yet because
I figured I'll wait till we get a little closer
on that to see if it's more accurate. But I'm
you know, I I like being a little bit cold. Yeah,
some weird way. I think it just feels good. It's
that the you know, how bright the lights are when
you're on these sets for long periods of time, it
can get a little hot. So I don't mind it.
I'm hoping it's a little brisk. I want to be

(19:26):
able to seel a little bit of a little Wisconsin
during the draft.

Speaker 1 (19:29):
No, you know, it's it. It's football weather. It's that's
the way it's it's going to be going to be
football weather hypothesize for us. Okay Meyer made it made
a great point, which is we we had the first
ever college fall playoffs, so you would think the hype
for the draft because now we've seen more of these
players play at against each other in the playoffs than

(19:51):
we ever have previously. Yet this doesn't feel like a
super hyped up draft. What is it? Is it?

Speaker 6 (19:59):
You know?

Speaker 1 (20:00):
Is it just a year like that? Is it the
factor of guys staying in school longer so there's fewer prospects.
Are we gonna blame COVID?

Speaker 6 (20:08):
Like?

Speaker 1 (20:08):
What what is it that's caused this to feel like
it's a little bit of a snooze fest in the
draft in comparison to some of the hype of years
other years.

Speaker 6 (20:18):
Well, I'll just put it to you this way. Thinking
about those teams that were in the playoffs. You know,
Ohio State wins the national championship. Their two best players
are not draft eligible. They're not even draft eligible. Well,
next year, Jeremiah Smith's not draft eligible. But you got
the safety who's a big time freak show. He'll be
in next year's draft. They're two best players. Go back
to school. Notre Dame's best player is the running back Love.

(20:41):
He's back at school. He couldn't come out this year.
You can go through Texas. Look, Texas most marketable, most
well known player. It didn't even start and that's Arch.
So he's back in school. Clemson's quarterback, they're a playoff team,
he's back in school. So you know, most of the
marquee notable guys, you know, either one for this draft
or didn't come into this draft. So we don't have

(21:03):
quite the same name power that we've had in some
other years. But it's that that's just that's part of
how it works. It's cyclical. I don't think this really
has anything to do with the portal or nil. I
just think it's kind of one of those years.

Speaker 1 (21:15):
Yeah, Okay, with that in mind, where is where what
position has the greatest depth in this draft?

Speaker 6 (21:25):
Eline Yeah, I think this is a great draft if
you want you know, inside guys, outside guys, a lot
of different flavors. We've got you know, guys at big
time traits. We've got guys with you know, tons of production.
We've got I don't remember a year we've had this
many three hundred plus pound dps that can move like
athletic big guys. And that's going to go deep into

(21:46):
you know, the third fourth round. I think you're going
to be able to get a starting caliber defensive tackle,
which is you know, it's pretty it's pretty incredible when
you look at it. Historically, like in the last five drafts, Doug,
there have been two on average DT's gone in the
first round, six point four on Day two, So that's
eight point four guys. So you're talking about eight or

(22:07):
nine dts normally go in the first three rounds. I mean,
I think this year we could have you know, fourteen.
It's it's really really deep there.

Speaker 1 (22:15):
Okay. The opposite question, which position or position group is
lacking the most?

Speaker 6 (22:23):
Well, I mean I don't think we have you know,
anything is going to look you know short in terms
of the quarterback positions compared to what we had last year, like,
we don't have anything close to that. Other positions, I
think offensive tackle wise, it's not great, you know. I
think there's only you know, four or five guys that
will emerge from this draft is as quality starting offensive tackles.

(22:44):
It's a little bit light there, so that would would
be down a little bit. Linebacker wise, there's some solid
players here, but not a you know, not a loaded
linebacker group either, So those would be the ones that
kind of stand out.

Speaker 1 (22:58):
Stut Gottlib Show here on Fox Sports Radio, Shaudor Sanders's
gonna gonna meet with the Pittsburgh Steelers. We still don't
have word on Aaron Rodgers. In what world would Shaudor
Sanders become a Pittsburgh Steeler?

Speaker 6 (23:16):
Well, I would think if Aaron, you know, decided to retire,
he would have a he would have an opportunity there.
They'd be in a position where they're probably gonna be
a little more serious about taking a quarterback in the
first round if they do bring in Aaron. I would
assume that first pick is going to be someone that's
going to help them this next year and not someone
that's gonna sit behind Aaron Rodgers. So I think It's

(23:38):
hard for me to envision a world in which Aaron
Rodgers and shoud Or Sanders are both Pittsburgh Steelers.

Speaker 1 (23:43):
Stut Gottlieb show here on Fox Sports Radio. I know,
so do you have do you know, like, does anybody
know what he's gonna do? Because I mean, we were
all under the impression that he was gonna be at
McAfee's show. But does he had his show in Pittsburgh.
What what's the what's the status.

Speaker 6 (24:01):
The expectation you know around the league is that that's
still going to happen, that you know, this will eventually
be be resolved and he'll be a Pittsburgh Steeler. I'm
always just I'm hesitant to put anything in the bank there,
just because it just keeps dragging on and dragging on
and dragging on. I mean, it's the one option if
he wants to play. I don't think Minnesota is going

(24:22):
to change their mind there, So I don't know, it
puts them in a real bind if you know, we
get through the draft and and uh, and then he
decides not to play. I mean that would be the
doomsday scenario. And then I mean I think there's a
very good chance that you know, Joe Flacco is your
starring quarterback week one for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Speaker 1 (24:42):
Yeah, I've just I've just been told by our Steamfield
producer plus show producer plus uh plus NFL insider expert
golord Jason Stewart, that that show is tonight. So the
the internet rumor over Aaron Rodgers announcing on McAfee's show,

(25:04):
it would be interesting if that was them putting the
squeeze on Aaron Rodgers. Right, They're like, hey, we got it.
We got to know by end of week. And he's
like and like, okay, shoot, Orth Sanders is going to visit,
and so it speeds. It's it speeds the process along
speeds the process is.

Speaker 6 (25:22):
Like the human TV guide from back in the day.

Speaker 1 (25:25):
Oh you have you have no idea? I mean if
you have any bachelor bachelrette questions as well. He's amazing
at that.

Speaker 6 (25:32):
Well, my teenage daughter probably has a couple. I'm an adult,
so I don't really watch that show.

Speaker 1 (25:37):
But wow, wow, that he just said that to you,
Jay stew Those are, by the way, Pat McAfee's quoted
saying Aaron Rodgers not on the docket for Wednesday night,
but again, I don't you know McAfee also does WWE,
so professional wrestling, he could he could definitely pop out
of the cake. If you will pop out of the cake.

Speaker 6 (26:01):
I don't know what's going on there. But to me,
the interesting thing about that is more on the side
than it is on the Aaron side. Yeah, which is
if he and I know they still have private workouts
to go. I think he's got a private coming up
with the giants. But if you were pretty confident that
you were going to be one of those top three picks,
I don't know, you take that, take that visit, so

(26:22):
that that to me is a little bit more of
a story on that side of it than the other side.

Speaker 1 (26:27):
What Brady Quinton said he passed the ball too much.
What's your sense on on Shador and some of the
things he needs to clean up and which of those
things Candy clean up?

Speaker 6 (26:39):
Well, I think just taking sacks and you know, just
speeding up your clock is going to be the most
important thing he's going to have to change. Being a
little more disciplined in your drop and uh and not
drifting and floating. That's that's some of that's connected there,
But it wasn't even just like holding the ball, taking
a sack. It was like, there's a lot of instances
where they're in field goal range inside the year, you're

(27:00):
inside the ten and you're taking a fifteen twenty yard loss,
Like those are those are cost you points? So you know,
to me, more than anything else, it's just the clock.
He's got to speed up his clock.

Speaker 1 (27:11):
Stug out leap show Fox Sports Tradio. That is the
voice of Daniel Jeremiah. You haven't you usually wait till
the end to do the Padres trash talk.

Speaker 6 (27:21):
Well, where I was gonna say, you guys did a
sports update right before I came on, So I did
you know that four nothing Dodgers score was of course
before the Nationals had a chance to bat once it's
already four to three and they've got a runner on
second base against this vaunted greatest team of all time.
But somehow the Nationals are have an opportunity to sweep
to Dodgers. We'll see what happens.

Speaker 1 (27:39):
Well, listen, I mean, I'm just excited my angels.

Speaker 6 (27:43):
One last night, your Angels are cooking with gas Man.

Speaker 1 (27:46):
I mean seven seven and three on the year, and
we thought it was same old Angels it may become
same old angels at some point. Have you seen where
the A's are playing.

Speaker 6 (27:56):
Yes, it's a it's a bandbox.

Speaker 1 (27:58):
It's not only the bandbox, but like world, but it
literally looks like high school lights. Yeah, like Mike, Mike
Trout lost the ball in the lights last night. Like
you know, he's playing right field now and there's there's
spots in that outfield that are dark like what I
was in tam Sorry, they're playing in Tampa, playing Tampa.
Another one playing in high school lights? Right, Yes, you're like, oh,

(28:22):
oh this is funny. Well, we might not be working
the right way with this sport, but.

Speaker 6 (28:26):
I'll tell you what the When it comes to smaller ballparks,
I would encourage anybody that's listening to you that maybe
is within range of one of these two places, I
would encourage you to go. I know, Doug, you got
a chance to go to Dignity Health when the Chargers there.
How great was that?

Speaker 1 (28:40):
I loved it? I loved Yeah.

Speaker 6 (28:44):
Yeah, super easy to get in and out of a
professional venue like that. It was awesome.

Speaker 1 (28:50):
It was you know, and there's never really thirty thousand
people there either, but it was fun. I remember I
remember it was like Lamar played. Was that the last
game there was? Maybe it was a next to last
season there, but Lamar Jackson came in and you know,
it's one thing to watch Lamar Jackson play, it's the
whole thing to watch him when you know, you're basic
at a high school of texasise high school stadium and
it was that that thing was that thing was crazy.

Speaker 6 (29:13):
Yeah, it's the front row.

Speaker 1 (29:14):
See, the most interesting team for the draft is.

Speaker 6 (29:18):
Who you know what I might spreasure on this, I'll
go to the Jags. I was looking this. I was
looking this up. So if you look at the teams
that have the most draft capital, so the teams that
have the most opportunity in this draft based off the
number of picks and the value of those picks, number
one is Cleveland, but number two is Jacksonville and Jacksonville

(29:39):
at five, they can go in so many different directions.
You've got a new GM who's really really young and
can think a little bit outside the box. I think
we've kind of just assumed, well, maybe it's you know,
they're going to take you know, an edge rusher there.
You know, maybe it's Mason Graham will come in there,
on the along the defensive line. But I'm curious to see, like,

(30:02):
I don't know that with Etm's presence there, if that's
enough to scare you off Ash and Genty, Like is
that kind of a surprise pick? And maybe they take him,
But they've got to get They've got to get Trevor
Lawrence playing well. And I would imagine all this draft capital,
a good bit of that's going to be devoted to
try and help him out.

Speaker 1 (30:19):
You know, it's funny you taught you mentioned a new
young GM and maybe this is a conversation before we
get to when we get to the actual season. But
I was watching Florida play and Todd gold is a
friend of mine and Todd is staff. They used advanced
analytics to a level that no one does at that level.
Matter of fact, in a tie game late with I

(30:40):
think it was like a minute twenty to go, they
filed on purpose a sub fifty five percent free throw shooter.
Kid made one miss one and you get people like, no,
you don't do that, Like yeah, the math actually says
that's exactly what you do. And if you look at
you know, they went they went quick, and I think
they I don't think it was an end one. I
think they got a foul with forty five seconds to go,
But the idea was even end of game in a

(31:02):
tie or one point. I think they were down one
at the time. In the National championship game was a
tie game they went to for one. And the point
is that they're all in on basket on basketball analytics,
What are the what are the things that the math
that the next wave of analytics is it going for
two every time? What is the next wave of football

(31:25):
analytics and the and what we'll see on a football.

Speaker 6 (31:27):
Field, Well that's you know, that's where the innovators are
going to have the answer that I don't have for you.
I'm looking for it and fascinating by it as much
as anyone. You know. In some ways we've gone we
got pretty heavy, uh you know, into analytics in terms
of you know, just fourth downs and how aggressive you
want to be and kick it or go for it
and all that kind of stuff. But in talking to

(31:48):
some teams who are very analytically driven, they're finding right
now that some of the advantages to be gleaned are
actually in new ways to do old school like character
scouting and personality stuff. And finding, you know, finding an
edge there. Whereas everybody else is dug in and is
obsessing over numbers, they're finding ways to get to know

(32:09):
the person a little bit better and maybe using some
new techniques to get a better understanding and handle of
how these guys are going to do under you know,
under pressure and under the rest. I know one team
that I talk to that's they are. They do these
impulse control tests on these guys. Doug think about a
corner that always is getting p I penalties down the
field and like, don't panic. Well, sometimes that's intuitive. Some

(32:32):
guys are impulsive and they're gonna grab, so they they're
doing these types of tests. So that's the stuff that's
just so far beyond my understanding. But I do find
it fascinating.

Speaker 1 (32:41):
I do as well, and I know they use it
in the draft as well. Speak of the Draft. Can't
wait to see you here when you when you get
to Green Bay. We appreciate joy us on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (33:40):
The Press.

Speaker 1 (33:41):
Dann, what do you got, Bud? Doug.

Speaker 5 (33:43):
We've got news just in about an NFL star. It's
not great news, to say the least, but local ten
News in South Florida's reporting that police were called to
the home of Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill on Monday
afternoon for a domestic dispute. No arrests were made, but
there apparently was an argument between Hill and the mother

(34:04):
of his child. The mother of his child explained that
the couple was going through some issues trying to go
through therapy and likely headed for divorce, but no arrests made,
no charges filed, but police called to the home of
Tyreek Hill on Monday.

Speaker 1 (34:18):
Yeah. I mean, if we track anything that we know about,
I mean, Tyreek Hill has how many kids from how
many different women? And I believe this is his wife
and she was involved in the first the domestic battery
when he was at Oklahoma State and then the private

(34:40):
recording a couple of years ago. It's likely surprising thing ever, right,
that couple is toxic and it's it's sad for the
kid involved.

Speaker 5 (34:50):
Yes, the mother of his wife, his mother in law,
called police. She characterized it as an assault in progress,
but again, no charges were filed. Police spoke with both sides.
But yeah, just another situation that you don't love to
talk about.

Speaker 3 (35:08):
I remember in the days after that, that incident last
season where he got pulled over and the cop got
a little too handsy. I remember in the days after
that him being kind of on the social injustice thing,
and I remember asking you, guys, is Tyreek Hill the
person you want messaging doing the messaging for this? He's

(35:29):
going to get pulled over again, He's going to have
another interaction with.

Speaker 1 (35:32):
Police get The answer obviously is now.

Speaker 5 (35:39):
Big fat no Colorado quarterback sh Door Sanders is going
to visit with the Raiders early next week, according to
Fox Sports inns that are Jordan Schultz and I just
talked with Daniel Jeremiah a little bit about Shador and
his whereabouts.

Speaker 1 (35:51):
So he's going to go the Colts. Yeah, this one
feels like searching for a little love, searching for a home.
So yeah, interesting and it does. It strikes you as
odd when he was so confident, maybe bordering on arrogant
during those initial meetings of the combine where it sounded

(36:12):
like he blew two teams off that, you know, all
of a sudden. Now you come back like, no, no, no,
really really, I'm super engaged. Anybody can draft me, who
wants to draft me?

Speaker 5 (36:21):
Dwight Howard's going to be headed to the Hall of Fame.
He's also going to be headed to the Big Three.
Doug As the center is going to play his final
profession of the euro of Basketball this summer for the
three on three League.

Speaker 1 (36:31):
Does he need money?

Speaker 5 (36:34):
I don't know. He might, but how I don't know,
I guess bad investment and investing, spending it poorly.

Speaker 1 (36:45):
Right, that's not a I mean again, I'm not trying
to sound like a jerk, but like Dwight Howard in
his entire NBA career has made a ton of money. Right,
His overall career are two hundred and forty five point
one million dollars, right, So I mean, if you just

(37:09):
love basketball, like I guess he's played in Taiwan, but
at some point don't you just like enjoy being having
two hundred and forty five minute whatever he's got left.
I don't know that that it feels, and or maybe
it's just like, hey, it's too much money to turn down.
But I don't know, that's a weird one doing.

Speaker 6 (37:26):
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (37:27):
In Sham's reports that the Mavericks will have a video
tribute for Luka Doncic tonight's also heading out thank you
Luca t shirts to fans that are in attendance.

Speaker 1 (37:36):
UH should be interesting, right, There's obviously be a lot
of love towards Luca and UH and the other side
not so much. But you know, the Mavericks have played
pretty well and Anthony Davis has been awesome. Lakers on
a back to back, I mean, it's a game. I'm
gonna watch and that's the press s Doug ot Leaf
