About his in his inter trust, his circle of trust,

But that's a happy birthday.
Speaker 4 (01:32):
In ninety minutes or so, we speaking of birthday's presence
and whatnot. I told the story earlier today, how I'm
all for one with our four year old son on gifts,
and that leads us into what I think is a
perfect midway topic. Let's get it going.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
He's not getting.
Speaker 4 (01:58):
Isaac longcron is here. Where where's yeah midway? Can anybody
beat box our music? Well, we're doing this, I gain no.
I'm just don't worry, Chris, don't worry. There's a lot
going on. Chris profets here as.
Speaker 2 (02:17):
That wasn't what I meant to play. It's not what
I meant to play.
Speaker 4 (02:22):
It was Christmas Eve twenty twenty four that I lost
my ears.
Speaker 2 (02:26):
Yes, do we have this music. We'll get it. Don't worry,
we'll get it.
Speaker 4 (02:30):
We'll get to Midway Music Bed at some point the
Midway today. It's the middle of the week. It's the
middle of this show on Fox Sports Radio. We like
to bring everybody together, Chris Prefett, Bo Benz and Isaac
Longcrown Moncey and myself, and we discussed the topic. And
it's gift giving.
Speaker 3 (02:49):
That's right.
Speaker 4 (02:50):
And Isaac has children. I have a son. Bo's got
a daughter. We can I think they can relate to this.
I gave my son the bargain, made a deal with
us that if you could open one gift this morning,
he wouldn't open any other gifts until we opened later
tonight on Christmas Eve. And when he opened his gift,
(03:12):
he hated it because I got him five Seahawks pens.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
Like I am really trying hard to make.
Speaker 3 (03:20):
A massake at least colored pens or just black and blue.
Speaker 4 (03:23):
Well they were they were blue, Okay, so when it
comes depends, I don't know if that's colored or not.
Speaker 3 (03:29):
Doesn't come out.
Speaker 4 (03:31):
It's just yeah, the pens were Navy with Seahawks helmets
and logos on them.
Speaker 3 (03:36):
You just bought this for yourself.
Speaker 2 (03:38):
I am trying my darkness to make sure that he
is seahawks man.
Speaker 5 (03:41):
Thank you for asking that question, because I've been convinced
that they're like pins, like you're like lapel pens.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
Oh, thank you for asking that question. Yeah, pens, yes,
writing pens.
Speaker 4 (03:51):
Yes, like not a pencil, but a pen. I'm not
going to give my son a sharp object at foll point.
Speaker 3 (03:57):
Yes, right.
Speaker 4 (03:58):
I don't know they were six bucks at the at
the store of them all at all, so I thought
it was great, perfect, let's put it in the stocking
stuff or he looked at his stocking today. I'm oh,
for one, there's a lot to go with gifts.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
But do you.
Speaker 4 (04:12):
Guys, and I'm asking Isaac and Bow just to kind
of continue this portion of the conversation.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
Have you had to playcate your kids to give them
a gift early, just to get them to stop whining.
Speaker 6 (04:23):
About the gifts reading you read my mind? Oh my gosh,
like people have no idea. Yes, yeah, the boat you
got to experience this. She's actually pretty good about not
opening gifts that are under the tree. We've got the
tree fully stocked and she ignores it. We have threatened
to take gifts away though, like at night, like if
she doesn't, she's for about a month now she's not
(04:44):
want to take a bath at night. So we will
say like, if we're gonna take gifts away, if you
don't get in the bath right now, and I'll be like,
I'm gonna call Santa Claus. And that usually gets her
to stop and get in the bath.
Speaker 2 (04:53):
Ub okay, am i am? I drunk here? He just
told us. Bo Benson told us before the show, would
you spend your morning doing?
Speaker 1 (04:59):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (04:59):
Yeah, I know that that was like by design though,
Like I told her to ask me for a Christmas
Eve gift.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
And she asked me for one and I gave her one.
Speaker 4 (05:05):
So yeah, So then she opened a gift and she
actually liked hers because it was legos.
Speaker 3 (05:10):
Yes it.
Speaker 4 (05:13):
Wasn't it wasn't a writing utensil. Then again, this is
very very small, Isa, think your kids do any gifts
this morning or anything.
Speaker 6 (05:22):
That is just part of the horrific holiday matrix in
our household because they're like little FBI agents because they're
trying to find out where we're hiding. All the Christmas presents.
Speaker 3 (05:34):
Have to hide them.
Speaker 2 (05:35):
Oh good lord.
Speaker 6 (05:36):
Yes, it's like a military operation. And any time we
go anywhere in the house or leave the house, they
follow us and they're like, where are you going? Where
are you going? So yesterday we had to pretend we
were going to our accountant's office when we were going
to do some extra Christmas shopping. It is a source
of unbelievable tension in our Household back to you.
Speaker 7 (05:59):
I obviously think you guys live a different life because
you have kids. For Christmas, I'm sure you almost be
stressed when it comes to Christmas.
Speaker 4 (06:07):
It just it takes a different turn, like right, yeah,
like yes, it does, like it really does. It just
takes There's all of the efforts that you would love
to spread holiday cheer to all the people that mean
a lot in your life, and then you have a kid,
and then you realize, all right, well there goes fifty
percent of those people because everything is about which is awesome.
Speaker 2 (06:29):
But that's just the way that things change.
Speaker 3 (06:31):
Of course, of course I don't have to worry about that.
Speaker 7 (06:34):
I do like to spread cheer, you know, But like
every year, I just like I get friends that give me.
Speaker 3 (06:40):
Gifts and I'm just like, girl just give me a
gift cards?
Speaker 2 (06:44):
Sure, because what am.
Speaker 3 (06:46):
I gonna do with this? What am I gonna do
with this?
Speaker 7 (06:48):
And like, for a long time, I thought gift cards
were kind of like lazy for like a long time, right,
or you don't know me, as Bo said during our
pre show meeting, you don't know me, so you give
me a gift card.
Speaker 3 (06:59):
And for many years I felt that way. But as
I've gotten older.
Speaker 7 (07:02):
I'm like, just give me to get a car, because
some of the stuff that I get, I am just like,
what am I supposed to do with this? It's going
in the trash directly, from here to the trash, directly,
from here to Goodwill directly.
Speaker 3 (07:14):
But you give me a gift card. I can make
use out of that.
Speaker 7 (07:16):
I also feel like the most useful of things of
like things that you're like I'm not gonna get.
Speaker 3 (07:21):
It's like, you know why, I could use a pair
of socks. I know that crazy, give me some clipper socks.
I could use some socks. I'm always needing socks. I
always know things of like every day.
Speaker 7 (07:31):
Yeah, and then people don't and then they try and
give you like this crazy gift and then you get
it and you're like, this is not as good as
you This is not.
Speaker 3 (07:39):
What you thought it was gonna.
Speaker 2 (07:39):
Well, I've got good news.
Speaker 4 (07:41):
You may have clipper socks in one of the seventeen
bags that she's got next door.
Speaker 2 (07:45):
Just look at this like this is.
Speaker 4 (07:46):
Look at this Christmas Morgan's board of gifts over by Monci.
It is overflowing here at Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (07:53):
Listeners, don't worry. Dan walked into several gifts waiting for
him as well.
Speaker 2 (08:01):
And I'm grateful for every single.
Speaker 3 (08:02):
One, So just making that sure, and.
Speaker 4 (08:05):
I am not ungrateful. But let's let's be real. Someone's
piles a little bit bigger than someone else's.
Speaker 3 (08:12):
Right, maybe's let's maybe.
Speaker 2 (08:15):
Even nuts McGee would agree with me at nuts McGee seven.
Speaker 3 (08:18):
Nuts McGee didn't even follow me. Should I be offended?
Speaker 4 (08:21):
All right, here's here's the deal. It's the Christmas Eve
Christmas Day dilemma. Yes, so my son was great. Sanna
hopefully will come tonight and bring me tons tons of presents, yes,
all right? And but I grew up Christmas Eve. We
had different places to go on Christmas Day, multiple places.
(08:41):
It was better for us as a family to open
our gifts on Christmas Eve. So that's always been a tradition.
Are you and Christmas Eve or a Christmas Day?
Speaker 7 (08:49):
So we did Christmas Eve, but on Christmas Day was
Sanna's gifts.
Speaker 3 (08:53):
So Christmas Eve was with.
Speaker 7 (08:54):
The family, and then in the morning it was like
what it's Santa bring you know what I mean?
Speaker 3 (08:59):
So it was I got the best of both worlds
in a way.
Speaker 2 (09:01):
All right, when do you open gifts with your family?
Both Christmas Morning Christmas Morning? Everything Christmas is there, Christ perfett.
Speaker 8 (09:09):
So we had a pretty big extended family. So Christmas
Eve was for being with the cousins, being with the grandparents,
and there was always a white elephant, and white elephant
was the most annoying thing I can ever remember, just
because it was just trying to get the white elephant
over was impossible. And then Christmas Morning was with the
individual families.
Speaker 4 (09:29):
And the white elephant is the exchanging like of the
I take their gifts or I'll take something from the pile.
Speaker 2 (09:37):
Is that how it works?
Speaker 8 (09:38):
Yes, So like you'd take it, Yeah, you'd unwrap it
and like if someone wanted to take it from you,
they could, But it was just it was it was
a mess because it was a lot of like jokey gifts.
It was a lot of novelty gifts. I think one
year I walked away with a a two tiered bowl
that had that you put cereal in the bottom and
(09:58):
milk in the top and like let them it'll go
down into the bottom or something.
Speaker 2 (10:02):
It was that sounds practical.
Speaker 8 (10:04):
It is.
Speaker 2 (10:07):
Very give me the double bowl.
Speaker 5 (10:10):
I pissed. I pissed my wife off one time because
no I took I.
Speaker 2 (10:14):
Ended up with something nuts McGee here.
Speaker 5 (10:18):
Yeah, I upset my wife.
Speaker 2 (10:20):
One time.
Speaker 5 (10:21):
I ended up with something a white elephant that was
I don't remember, but she wanted it to come home
with us. Somebody else had a really dumb looking Corey
Seeger Dodgers plush, and at the end of the night,
I'm like, hey, do you want this thing? And I'll
take the Corey Segar plush And we did that trade
and my wife figured out then she was not happy year.
Speaker 2 (10:37):
But the problem is the problem is with our white elephant.
Speaker 8 (10:39):
Was I had about like we had about a dozen
aunts and uncles, and every last one of them thought
they were a comedian. So we had each time someone
would take a present, we'd have to then go through
about thirty minutes of jokes before the kids can move on.
Speaker 4 (10:53):
Yeah, sometimes when you get like I came from a
big family as well. My mom was one of thirteen kids,
so we have a a lot of cousins as cousins
that you just not even you don't even really know,
but it exist.
Speaker 3 (11:08):
But yeah, a relationship.
Speaker 4 (11:10):
So but then when everybody comes together at at this
fun point, it's kind of like, huh, all right.
Speaker 7 (11:17):
The white elephant thing is not something Latinos do because
punches would be.
Speaker 2 (11:22):
Thrown like that is now, I want to see.
Speaker 3 (11:24):
That that is.
Speaker 7 (11:25):
That is I I've done it a few times and
I'm like, I don't understand how you guys like this.
Speaker 3 (11:29):
This is so frustrating.
Speaker 7 (11:31):
So I could steal a gift, but that person can
steal a gift from me.
Speaker 8 (11:35):
Oh no, Well again, that's why you make every That's
why you make every gift like unnecessary and impractical and
kind of but.
Speaker 7 (11:42):
There's always something that It's like in the office where
Michael Scott shows up with the iPod and everybody wants
the iPod because everybody else followed the rules.
Speaker 3 (11:50):
There's always a few people who don't follow the rules
and bring something better and then again you're just.
Speaker 7 (11:55):
Like, ah it leaves, I swear, I don't know how
there's more.
Speaker 3 (11:58):
There's not more fights.
Speaker 7 (11:59):
Like we also had a big family, so sometimes which
we did. We've done it every like other.
Speaker 3 (12:04):
Year now as adults. But we like to give gifts.
But we'll do like okay, picking hat names out.
Speaker 7 (12:09):
Of a hat and you're only giving that person a gift,
and everybody gets a gift, yes, but.
Speaker 2 (12:15):
Not this secret, Sannah Liketts.
Speaker 7 (12:16):
Thank you, thank you, but none of this stupid white
elephant crap.
Speaker 3 (12:21):
Y'all. No, it's so for.
Speaker 7 (12:22):
Every time I've participated in white elephant, I'm upset.
Speaker 4 (12:25):
Here's here's the question. Everybody here done a secret, Sannah?
At least at some point, is it better to get
the name you want or get the person to have
your name? Like are you more excited like when you
draw and you're like, yes, I got them, or when
you find.
Speaker 2 (12:40):
Out that.
Speaker 4 (12:43):
Because I think it's truly the like the giving is
the best of course when you can find a person
to give that, like you know, I know exactly when
we can get them, they're gonna love it.
Speaker 2 (12:52):
There is no higher high than that.
Speaker 4 (12:55):
Yeah, So if you can pull the name, that you
wanted for Secret Sannah, There's there's nothing better.
Speaker 3 (13:00):
I agree. I agree.
Speaker 7 (13:00):
I definitely have more of a high giving the gift
than receiving it, for sure.
Speaker 4 (13:06):
I had a secret Santa once where I had a
cousin but they were old, like they could be my uncle. Okay,
like that sort of yep. I thought I got them
like the coolest, the coolest thing. This is twenty years ago.
It was a It was a and we see this
a lot. You'll see this a lot in man caves.
But it was a street sign that says like speed
(13:29):
living at fifty five No it said it said like
packers country, okay, And I'm like, this is perfect. I
know where they can put it in their house. I
know they He talks about the packers the whole time.
I would go over there once a year.
Speaker 3 (13:45):
For Christmas, okay, and you were hoping to see.
Speaker 4 (13:47):
It for the next five years. It was never up,
like it was never posted. I have no idea what
I did, but I held it like. It bothered me
so much because I thought, like I scored And by
the way, the thing was huge. So I'm hauling this
thing like not like a little box or like a
gift bag like it was a longer thing, but one
(14:09):
that you could put up on your wall, even just
put it up in the garage, right you're working on
the cars. This is just perfect. It fits. And they
didn't use it, and I was it bothered. It bothers
me to this day.
Speaker 2 (14:21):
It really does.
Speaker 3 (14:22):
Could it be in their garage?
Speaker 2 (14:24):
No, it's not. It's not.
Speaker 6 (14:26):
On a related My wife amazingly keeps a mental matrix
in her mind of previous gifts that people who are
coming to our house have given us. So around the time,
let's say they're coming by on Christmas Day, she will
somehow locate that gift that we got two years ago
(14:48):
but never put up, and she will put it up
on This is a conspicuous place throughout the house.
Speaker 2 (14:53):
Johnson's are coming over, let's put out the gravy.
Speaker 4 (14:55):
Bawl that two. Yeah, absolutely like that. You want some
great that's right, you guys gave us this. We use
this all the time. That's very well done.
Speaker 3 (15:05):
Do you have an Excel sheet to remember?
Speaker 6 (15:07):
Whatever has a mental Excel sheet in her mind when
it comes to this, Trust me, I.
Speaker 3 (15:12):
Would not be able to keep track of things like that.
I would have to keep it writing there seen gave
me this.
Speaker 2 (15:18):
Oh you want to trust me?
Speaker 4 (15:20):
This year's you know, like I mean, yeah, there's there's
a lot there's my My mom has done that with
the items that Isaac is like talking about of like
putting stuff out.
Speaker 2 (15:34):
There, which I know she does this.
Speaker 4 (15:37):
You know, like with like like my stuff, like my
Christmas stuff like oh yeah, yeah, to make sure that
it's out there, she'll send me a picture.
Speaker 2 (15:44):
But it is.
Speaker 4 (15:45):
It is a gift, you know, are moving around pictures
like if family's coming overall, let's bring out you know,
this picture and put it in that spot.
Speaker 2 (15:54):
Yeah, it happens.
Speaker 4 (15:55):
Those are all real things and you celebrate with your
family at Christmas night.
Speaker 2 (16:00):
That's what you'll be doing tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (16:02):
Yes, so, because you know work and when.
Speaker 2 (16:04):
Now we're all show be in tomorrow Aaron.
Speaker 7 (16:07):
Yeah, so we're flexible, but we are doing it on
Christmas evening.
Speaker 2 (16:11):
Yes, all right, well there it is.
Speaker 3 (16:13):
Spoil my nephews.
Speaker 2 (16:15):
And that's the midway.
Speaker 1 (16:16):

the midway.
Speaker 4 (16:23):

But the two or three that I need to purchase,
I'm not seeing them for a few days, so sorry,
I'm gonna use the after Christmas discount whatever is going
on to purchase them.
Speaker 4 (16:55):
I think post Christmas parties are get togethers are underrated. Yeah,
A lot of times it's do you want to meet
up on the twenty first, the twenty second, the twenty
third to do those sort of things. Yeah, those can
really mess up your style. But if you'd say, let's
get together on the twenty.
Speaker 3 (17:10):
Eighth, love those days. I agree with you.
Speaker 4 (17:12):
Plus you're still in the spirit. A lot of people

is Fox Sports Radio on this Christmas Eve on Christmas Day,
five NBA games, three NFL games, a choice that we
didn't have at one point I mentioned earlier in asking
you about where you've spent different Christmases. I remember growing
up and spending the Christmases back in the Midwest, and
the Bucks stunk, so they were never a Christmas Day
(19:57):
game opportunity. But TV wasn't on. There was no football on.
Maybe once in a great while there would be a
game on Christmas Day, but the TVs were off. And
so then when I moved to Southern California twenty years ago,
I was surprised that how much the Lakers playing on
Christmas Day was a tradition, that it was for people
(20:17):
in Southern California, just like watching the Lions or Cowboys
on Thanksgiving.
Speaker 3 (20:22):
Right, absolutely absolutely.
Speaker 7 (20:24):
As a Clipper fan, I was watching like Christmas was, Oh,
I gotta watch Lakers play, like this is what we're
doing today. We're watching We're all gonna We're all gonna
not just even just have it on in the background,
We're all actually gonna probably watch it for the most
part and have it on the main TV somewhere, you
know what I mean.
Speaker 4 (20:41):
In the NFL now is an all on assault on
Christmas Day. Last year they figured out a way to
play Wednesday games.
Speaker 2 (20:47):
Yeah, hell is.
Speaker 4 (20:49):
That's when you knew, when they doctor the schedule to
have teams play on Saturday the week before so then
they could play on the Wednesday of the week and
then have more of a break. That's when you knew
that the NFL was really trying to take over Christmas Day.
And it allowed a broadcast partner, new broadcast partners to
(21:11):
break into the broadcasting world with a window that was
kind of untouched and clean. So Netflix now has two
of the games on Christmas Day. Prime Video will have
the late game between the Broncos and the Chiefs. Yeah.
Not good, not good at all. But Netflix in on
this has the Lions and Vikings after the Cowboys and Commanders,
(21:37):
and of those four teams, the Lions have a slim playoff.
Hope Max Brosmer is going to be starting for the Vikings.
The Cowboys coming off their loss facing a banged up
Commander's team. Like there is just it is not a
great slate. It is not a good slate of football.
The question now is the bad slate of football enough
(21:59):
for the to regain its power on Christmas Day.
Speaker 3 (22:03):
Oh for this year. Absolutely, It's just this just goes
to show.
Speaker 7 (22:07):
It's like you got too greedy, NFL, you got too greedy.
Speaker 3 (22:11):
You could have had one game on Christmas and then
maybe it's not that bad.
Speaker 7 (22:15):
But you look at the slate and then you look
at are you really Are you really going to tune
in and wake up to watch the Cowboys and the Commanders?
Are you really gonna get up to do that here
in lab or So of the Calvern at ten am
one eastern?
Speaker 3 (22:28):
Are you really gonna get up and watch that? Absolutely not.
Speaker 7 (22:30):
But you know what, I may get up and watch
dam the Cavaliers and the Knicks. I may actually get
up and watch that one. The NBA slate is good
from top to bottom, and it's all day, all day
down to the bottom.
Speaker 4 (22:42):
But I think the NBA has always had good games.
But it's just did they resonate enough with with people?
Speaker 3 (22:49):
And but do they need to resonate like that?
Speaker 2 (22:52):
I think that I think that they do. I don't
think anybody. I don't think.
Speaker 4 (22:58):
That there are many people who will watch all five
NBA games on the schedule.
Speaker 7 (23:03):
Sure, I think it could be on not maybe not
they're not watching, but the TV will be on all day.
Speaker 4 (23:09):
IRONNBA, I agree with that. I think though that the
NFL would be the first option. I just think the
Netflix portion of this is the tricky portion of this.
So we're going to open up Presidents as a family.
This is me and speaking myself only, I can guarantee
at the time that we're sitting there and having a
(23:31):
Christmas get together, Calves and Nicks will not be on
at nine o'clock local time. Different on the East Coast
it's noon. Maybe people are more on with their day
at that point, but for us, it is not going
to be. It is not going to be on at
ten o'clock. Will I turn on Cowboys Commanders? Probably? I
already have Netflix, and I think a lot of people do,
(23:53):
but not everybody does. And that's the point where I
get with this, Manzi is I think people will be
turning on inning on the NBA, and it may not
be right away. Because whether you have cable or satellite
or maybe YouTube TV, you don't have to pay extra
or go through an extra subscription service to access Cavaliers
(24:16):
and Knicks. And I think that's the biggest advantage where
if Netflix had a game worth watching. I think people
are going through the efforts to try to chase that
game down, whether they're loading up their Netflix subscription or
they're having a subscription of their own. That's where I
think that these games miss for the NFL is. I
don't think there are going to be new subscriptions, and
(24:37):
I think if people are just ready to tune into something,
they'll just end up tuning into the NBA games because
they're easier to access.
Speaker 7 (24:44):
For that, I do agree with you that the Netflix
level of tomorrow, if you want to watch these games,
it's not going to benefit. No one is going to
add a subscription. You are one hundred percent right for
these games. But when you ask me, like, well, what
game has resonated with you when it comes to the
Christmas games, I feel like with the NBA, like, at
least for me, like a game that would resonate probably
(25:07):
a playoff game, Probably a high scoring game for somebody
on the Clippers, you know what I mean, Like a
Blake Griffin, a lob City.
Speaker 3 (25:12):
That's what resonates.
Speaker 7 (25:12):
But I feel like with football there's a lot more
a lot more resonates because there's less games. With the NBA,
I feel like you just you just want to be entertained.
And I can tune in for two minutes.
Speaker 3 (25:24):
If I'm I'm at home, I'm gonna have the NBA. Guy,
I am gonna be watching the NBA games.
Speaker 7 (25:28):
I can tune in for like three minutes of the
Cavs Knicks game and get fun three minutes of NBA.
I can tune in for five minutes of the Commanders
and Cowboys, and I'm gonna get nothing probably out of
five minutes of watching that.
Speaker 3 (25:41):
There's nothing for me to look forward to. What am
I looking forward to?
Speaker 2 (25:45):
Fantasy football?
Speaker 7 (25:46):
I don't have anybody playing in those teams, so betting
probably not. I rather bet. I rather bet in the NBA.
And I just I think that that it's a benefit
with the NBA that you can't just kind of have
it on in the background and tune in and out.
Speaker 2 (26:01):
That's fair.
Speaker 3 (26:01):
With the NFL, I don't.
Speaker 7 (26:03):
Do that, And then these games, I'm really not gonna
want to care for the minor details.
Speaker 2 (26:07):
It's difficult to have the NFL on passively.
Speaker 7 (26:09):
It is absolutely exactly exactly with the NBA.
Speaker 4 (26:13):
You just have it on to just check in and
check out. Christopherfett a technical producer.
Speaker 8 (26:16):
Yeah, I just feel like as a Lions fan, it's
I think there is something to the difficulty of making
sure the Christmas matchup you're going to have in the
NFL is going to be a meaningful one. Like I mean,
this was always the problem with like Lions Thanksgiving for
so long, right, Like it's always like, well, we should
take the Lions off Thanksgiving so we can get a
meaningful game. You've got these games played for Christmas and
(26:38):
luck of the draw you were going on, you were
going on teams that were good last year that you
were kind of guessing are going to be important divisional
matchups for this season, and they're not, Like, as you say,
the Lions need like it's more important for the Lions
for Packers to lose than is for the Lions to
win for them to get in. And then it's the
other games completely useless in any kind of standings. It
(27:00):
needs meaning to their games, whereas the NBA this time
of year, like as you say, mons, you can put
on whatever as far as some great talent, because at
this point the year, those games are not going to
be to get into the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (27:12):
But entertain me, yes, right, Like they're not meaningful, but
they're going to be entertaining.
Speaker 8 (27:16):
The NFL derives so much of its games being meaningful
that when you then start putting on meaningless games, it
really devalues. And then you have to also pay a
Netflix subscription on top of it.
Speaker 4 (27:27):
I knew that there are years that the Lions weren't good,
and I was always a supporter of the Lions being
on Thanksgiving.
Speaker 3 (27:32):
Well, I feel like, isn't that just the tradition?
Speaker 7 (27:34):
Though, yes, like for Thanksgiving, you're gonna sit through a
bad game, but it's like a Thanksgiving football.
Speaker 4 (27:40):
Yuh, honestly, And because I mean, the Lakers and Rockets
are two good teams, but outside of the Spurs in
Oklahoma City of being like that's that to me is
the is the marquee game. Rockets Lakers is second to
me just because of the nostalgia of the Lakers always
(28:00):
playing on that so that that would have that that
would they would be the Cowboys of Thanksgiving Day essentially
of watching that game, and the Cowboys game always gets
the highest ratings of any regular season game in this year,
set like Mucho records.
Speaker 2 (28:12):
Again, in a game against.
Speaker 7 (28:13):
The Chiefs, the Mavericks Warriors could be a fun game.
You could see Cooper Flag maybe going off and Jimmy
Butler and Steph Curry dropping you know, eighteen threes.
Speaker 4 (28:22):
You may see Draymond do something crazy that would maybe
be the reason for it. I think that the I
don't want, like, I would not want a game between
like the Seahawks and Rams just they played last Thursday.
Speaker 2 (28:37):
I don't want that on Christmas.
Speaker 3 (28:38):
I don't think, Yes, that makes perfect sense.
Speaker 4 (28:41):
And so you focus on that, Yes, that is like
that is such a high strung, high leveraged game for
fans that it takes up your Christmas. So I'm not
necessarily mad that the NFL has these matchups. But you
can't tell me that's what they were going for when
they put the Lions and Vikings, the two top teams
in the NFC North to Christ's Point last year, or
(29:02):
Denver in Kansas City, as Denver made the postseason last
year and the Chiefs were coming off, you can't tell
me that's not what they were going for. Like the
Cowboys and Commanders, the Cowboys didn't make the playoffs last year.
The Commanders were due for a setback after what happened
last year. Did we think they were going to be
set back this much that now you're down to your
third string quarterback. No, but I didn't think that we
(29:24):
thought that that would be for the NFC East Crown.
That's where I think that the NFL, and if it
was Lions Bears, maybe it's too meaningful of a game,
but I don't want a game that means everything. Maybe
have Eagles Bills beyond Christmas Day because that's the Sunday
afternoon game. By the way, in the Sunday window, because
(29:45):
of the Saturday games that they have, there's only two
late games in Week seventeen. It's the Giants and Raiders
for the first overall pick loser likely gets the number
one overall pick in the draft, and it's Eagles Bills.
And while the Eagles and Bills of both clinch playoff spots.
Sure there's some seating, but there's not a lot there.
Eagles Bills on a Christmas Day would be fun, it
would be a must watch, but it wouldn't be that
(30:07):
everything is on the line for this game. M M
that the NFL probably should have put that game instead.
Speaker 2 (30:13):
They Yeah, but you knew.
Speaker 4 (30:16):
My point is is you purposely did divisional games, hoping
that they would mean something for the division.
Speaker 2 (30:24):
Eagles Bills would not have been Yeah, you knew the.
Speaker 4 (30:28):
Bills were going to be in it, you knew the
Eagles were going to be in it. But them playing
each other does not affect it as opposed to two
divisional opponents.
Speaker 2 (30:35):
Would.
Speaker 4 (30:36):
Sure, if the Bills lose, it hurts their seating, or
if the Eagles lose it, it hurts their seating. But
by putting the division matchups, I think that the NFL
was kind of destined to fail. They We had Packers
Dolphins a couple of years ago, I think was one
of the Christmas games, and I think that that was
that's a that's a good game, Packers are popular, doesn't
(30:57):
do much damage in terms of the standings, Like that's
what the NFL needs, needs more of.
Speaker 7 (31:01):
Yeah, And I wonder if they'll change that for next
year because it seems like that that wasn't the approach
for this.
Speaker 3 (31:08):
It seems like they wanted the meaningful games. Yes, and
it makes sense that you wouldn't want that. Yeah, I
wouldn't want that. I don't want to have to pay
attention like that.
Speaker 4 (31:14):
Correct, And it's it's like they put all their chips
in the intide did, but they're got really exactly.
Speaker 8 (31:20):
Yeah, But I think the issue is like if you
were Netflix, you want meaningful games because you want people
to watch them, to watch that these are the only
games Netflix it gets all year.
Speaker 7 (31:29):
But that's almost like someone gave you bad advice. Everybody
loves the NFL.
Speaker 3 (31:33):
You don't need it to be meaningful. Do you think
you need to be entertaining?
Speaker 2 (31:35):
Yeah? Do you think they would turned down Eagles Bills? No.
Speaker 8 (31:38):
I don't think they'd turned down Eagles Mills. But I
think there's also an impetus on them. It's like when
they go to the NFL, it's like, we want meaningful
games in December. What you think are gonna be the
most meaningful to put on Christmas?
Speaker 2 (31:48):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (31:48):
I think I think Eagles Bills is a fun game.
I think that that's more of that's more of the game.
And then if because we've seen them flex, it's easier
to flex a game on the same day, meaning you
move it from a one eastern to a four to
twenty five kick as opposed to switching days, and you'd
have more flexibility putting divisional games on a Sunday to
(32:09):
flex them out of that late window. If you wanted
to put Lions Vikings at four to twenty five Eastern
time at the beginning of the season on a Sunday,
go right ahead.
Speaker 8 (32:17):
I think there is also something that we're basically getting
two teams on. Actually I think more than that that
also played on Thanksgiving that are now also playing on Christmas.
We're getting a little too much of the Lions and
Cowboys now.
Speaker 2 (32:29):
So sure the Chiefs, right, but some of that's their
cash cow.
Speaker 7 (32:34):
That's probably what they thought the safest bet was put
the Chiefs on on Christmas.
Speaker 5 (32:38):
Yea, these are all through these games six months ago
look like hits. Yeah, it's just the way the seasons
unfold and they don't.
Speaker 1 (32:43):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (32:44):
I think you guys are all making great points. And
I still think we're gonna come in here on Friday
morning and the NFL will have drawn millions of more
viewers than the NBA.
Speaker 2 (32:50):
Will I agree with that.
Speaker 5 (32:52):
Cowboys alone, the Cowboys game alone is going to get
higher ratings than anything on the NBA schedule.
Speaker 8 (32:57):
I think we've learned anything from these Lions being good
like they are. They're a ratings drawer now too, Like.
Speaker 7 (33:02):
Just who's for the Commanders, Max Bras for the Commanders,
Josh Johnson doesn't matter.
Speaker 5 (33:10):
He's playing the stars in the Star. Yeah, that's really
what it is.
Speaker 2 (33:14):
How about them Cowboys? How about that?
Speaker 4 (33:16):
Isaac Low and Cron at the news desk giving us
the latest of what's happening today.
Speaker 2 (33:21):
What's going on? Isaac?
Speaker 6 (33:22):
Well, the latest? Dan and Monci? How about this? Pittsburgh
Steelers linebacker TJ. Watt returned to the practice field today
after missing a couple of weeks and just a couple
of weeks because of a partially collapsed lung. He was
officially listed as a limited participant, got to watch those
treatments in the locker room involving syringes and needles.
Speaker 2 (33:41):
Apparently.
Speaker 6 (33:42):
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson did not practice today for
the second straight day because of a back contusion. John
Harbought telling reporters Jackson's status for Saturday night's game at
Green Bay has not been determined yet. The Minnesota Itkings
rolled out running back Jordan Mason and tied in TJ.
Hockinson for their Christmas Day game against the Lions. The
Lions listed receiver Amana Ross Saint Brown as questionable because
(34:04):
of a knee injury, and running back David Montgomery is
questionable due to illness. The Kansas City Chiefs today placed
receivers Rashie Rice and Taekwon Thornton, as well as cornerbacks
Trent McDuffie and Jalen Watson on injured reserve. They also
listed defensive end George Carloftis and linebacker Nick Bolton as
questionable for their Christmas Day game against the Broncos. Sesame

that that Detroit Lions fan who is physically confronted by
Steelers receiver DK Metcalf last Sunday, will be holding a
(34:50):
press conference with his attorneys on Friday too and I
quote address the assault, correct miss this information that has
been publicly repeated as fact, and discuss the serious consequences
he has faced unquote mark your calendars for Froday.
Speaker 4 (35:12):
He's saying it in a sarcastic sort of way. Yeah,
I agree with I agree with the fan that way
that he should have a press conference why we'll discuss it.
Speaker 2 (35:22):
Next, She's Monty Blagos. I'm Dan byer what it is.

because they don't get to hear the music.
Speaker 2 (36:49):
Can we cor right right? That's why it pays to
listen live.
Speaker 4 (36:53):
Isaac Lowancron, you have the news story the press conference
coming up? When and what are the details on the
Detroit Lions fan that got into it with DK Metcalf.
Speaker 6 (37:04):
Friday is going to be a press conference with the
fan and his attorneyes plural guys putting together his own
version of OJ's Dream Team apparently. Now I'm going to
read the actual quote. Do you want me to read
it sarcastically, Dan or do you want me to read
it straight?
Speaker 2 (37:23):
I read it straight if you will.
Speaker 6 (37:24):
Okay, boy, It's going to be tough.
Speaker 2 (37:27):
I know, I know. I'm just on the other side
of this. There's a reason though.
Speaker 6 (37:30):
He'll be holding the news conference with attorney's Friday to
quote address the assault, correct misinformation that has been publicly
repeated as fact, and to discuss the serious consequences he
has faced unquote.
Speaker 4 (37:45):
So I thought that, if you're a fan, my timeline
of this whole story has changed. I went from the
side of the player to the side of the fan.
When Moore ended up coming out for it, I thought, immediately,
if you're saying something to a player that has them
respond in a certain way, you're a loser. You were
with me on Sunday with Carrie Rhoads, and I said
that during our Sunday show right after the incident happened.
(38:07):
Finding out more about it now in seeing different camera
angles and then seeing the stories that came out from
NFL insiders and from Chad o Chio Cinko in saying
that the fan had allegedly said improper things, using a
racial slur, a derogatory comment about DK Metcalf's mother, none
(38:28):
of which I believed was true.
Speaker 3 (38:30):
Yeah, it doesn't seem like that.
Speaker 4 (38:31):
Nobody responded in the crowd that way. There were no
other Steelers players that came over and heard that stuff.
You would think that if another Steelers player heard a
fan yell that to DK metcalf that they would also respond. Well,
DK was the only one to respond here. So now
you have Ocho Cinco and Shannon Sharp talking about it
(38:52):
on their podcast. You have NFL insiders supporting this case
on what happened, that this fan may have had an
altercase with DK Metcalfe a year ago, spreading this narrative,
And now we know why the narrative was there. It
was so DK wouldn't lose the forty five million dollars
that was guaranteed on his contract that could have been
voided for a situation like this where he had on
(39:13):
sportsmanlike conduct. So that's why DK and his people went
to great lengths to tell the story that there was
a racial slur and a derogatory term. So now this guy,
who all we know is a Lions fan with tickets
of the fifty yard line with a blue wig, is
deemed a racist. In someone who's calling someone's mother names,
I would want to defend my name too. I would
(39:34):
sue them, And I think that's what he's threatening to do.
If somebody wanted to do that and throw my name
in the mud when that was never the case. I
would want something for it. I would make sure that
they knew that I meant business so it doesn't happen again.
Speaker 3 (39:47):
I hear what you're saying.
Speaker 7 (39:48):
I guess the idea of just a press conference, I'm like,
who's going to really tune into this? Like, let's be real,
go ahead and absolutely handle business the way you want,
because yeah, if people were speaking like that about me
and that is not at all would hap happen. I
would absolutely be out there defending myself and sue it.
I just think the press conference is kind of silly.
I don't know what DK Metcalf was thinking, but I
also feel like there's no way that nothing happened.
Speaker 3 (40:11):
Like you're saying, like Metcalf just lost it.
Speaker 2 (40:13):
He lost it because he didn't like to be called
by his real.
Speaker 7 (40:16):
Government name, by his real name, Like there's no defending Metcalf, right, Like,
if that's really all it was, how do.
Speaker 3 (40:24):
You defend that?
Speaker 2 (40:25):
You can't?
Speaker 7 (40:25):
You really, you absolutely can't. All I'm saying all I
do feel like there are in this situation Metcalf, I
can't defend you. There's just sometimes where the fan you
know the customer is not always right. I'm not saying
this is that situation. Having a press conference seems a
little bit ridiculous, but by all means, dude, defend yourself
because the story did take a bunch of turns and
none of it was true.
Speaker 2 (40:45):
She's Monzi, I'm Dan. This is Fox
