(00:22):
every single day from sunny southern California.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
Welcome in.
Speaker 1 (00:30):
You know, there's a lot of different things going on
in football. We'll get to him. Thomas de Mittroll, former GM.
The Atlanta Falcons will join us at some point in
the next five minutes. In the meantime, as you heard
from Dan Byer, this is can we just say, evolving story, member,
There are no trophy is given out at halftime, but
this is this is great. All these things are great.
(00:54):
So in Paris, the French have taken down the Germans
right like wait that it's the opposite of World War Two.
The friendship taken down the Germans and the Serbs have
an eleven point lead at the half fifty four to
forty three against the Americans, and Steph Curry has twenty
at the half. If I would have told you that
Steph Curry is twenty at a half, right, you'd be like,
(01:18):
all right, we're good, We're good. But fifty three points
and only forty three given up is forty two exceeding
given up by the Serbs, and they have a lead.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
So we have an.
Speaker 1 (01:29):
Evolving story which we'll figure out what happens here between
the Serbs and the Americans. And man, I'm telling you,
this game is going to be just really interesting. And
it's interesting because it's all the stuff, all the stuff
that we're used to watching in college now we're watching
(01:51):
in the pros.
Speaker 2 (01:52):
This is essentially the Final four.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
Right, you lose, you gotta play a third place game,
which is just that's a tough one to play. And
the Serbs have faced the Americans twice previously in the
last month, once in a friendly and which was close,
once in.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
A pool play game.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
They came two nights ago from twenty four down to
beat the Aussies in overtime, and yet they've led so
far essentially since opening tip. It was tied early on
back and forth. But both teams have taken nineteen threes.
The Serbs have made one more, but they've gotten four
more field goal attempts because they've out rebounded the Americans
(02:35):
twenty to fourteen, and they've gotten fourteen points in the paint,
and they've scored more fast break points. We have not
seen Jason Tatum in the first half. My expectations are
you're probably not going to see him in the second
eavy that you get people on Twitter go, oh, I've
got to play Jason Tatum now, Like okay, But the
way in which Kevin Durant played in the first game
between the two teams is the way that Steph Curry's
(02:55):
playing in Game one. And yet they're down eleven with
the Serbians having the ball to start the half. It's
Doug Gottlieb Show here on Fox Sports Trader. Let's turn
our attention to football with Thomas de Mitchroff joined us.
Of course, Thomas the former gentlem manager of the Atlanta
Falcons when they went to the Super Bowl. And Thomas,
let's let's start with some of the stories of the day.
(03:18):
In terms of storylines in the end in the NFL,
the Brandon Ayuk thing right where he wants to be
paid like an elite wide receiver. They've had some conversations,
but apparently didn't want to go to the Patriots to
play for them. We'll see if anything comes from the
Steelers this time of year. What's it like to try
(03:40):
and trade a guy who wants a new contract and
yet most other teams already set.
Speaker 3 (03:46):
I mean, it's complicated, Doug. I mean, it's it's something
you're you're you're focused on trying to get it done.
You work day and night trying to figure it out.
But it's it's complicated on both sides. I mean, you
look at San Francisco right now. You want the kid
to play, right, You need your guy on your field.
You get fired up about it, you get excited about it,
thinking about maybe moving, you know, moving a player like
(04:07):
that for two first round picks. That's that's big. That's
a big deal, right, thinking that you're going to get that.
But in the end, what you really want to do
is get your team operating moving forward, and it's it
is complicated to think about orchestrating a trade this time
of year when you know everyone is on the hot
seat every year, right, and this is something you don't
want to fool around with it. It's if it's just
(04:28):
kind of back and forth. They have a big decision
to make on that, as you know, tag them two
more years potentially. Right, There's a lot going on on
this conversation level.
Speaker 4 (04:37):
I'm sure.
Speaker 1 (04:40):
If it's Pittsburgh and Cleveland, who do you think is
the best fit?
Speaker 3 (04:44):
You know, Doug, I like, I like Pittsburgh, I like
I like where they are. I think they could use
a receiver like this obviously to go along with the
tight end that I like, and a running back that
I think that is obviously very solid. Where we are
with the quarterback, I'm not really sure, but I think
guy like this who is a high percentage shot for them,
will help their quarterback situation.
Speaker 1 (05:06):
My only question about Pittsburgh is you have George Pickens
over on the other side, a super talent, but a
guy who's been up and down emotionally. And let's not
act like you have the greatest quarterback play in the world. Right,
We'll see if they can resuss state Russell Wilson's career.
If not, you got Justin Fields who struggles in terms
of throwing the football and so you're not going to
see the volume of throws. All that considered, does that
(05:28):
change your perspective on hey, do I bring him into Pittsburgh?
Speaker 2 (05:31):
Even if he's.
Speaker 1 (05:32):
The talent that they need, they don't have the guy
to get in the ball and you have Pickens' personality
to worry about.
Speaker 3 (05:38):
Well, I agree with the Pickens personality. It's a really
valid point. I think I look at it more thinking, Okay,
whether Pittsburgh can utilize them this year or they utilize
them in years to come, because it's going to be
a big time, long term contract. You and I both
know if that quarterback situation is sketchy out the gate,
they're going to be looking strong and they're going to
(05:59):
be looking to acquire a big time quarterback in the
relatively near future ie very soon, right, So I just
think he's a good guy to grow with in that situation.
Speaker 1 (06:09):
Stut Gottlieb show here on Fox Sports Rader. That's the
voice of Thomas Dimitrov. Of course, Thomas is the CEO
of Sumer Sports, a sports analytics company. All right, let's
let's let's discuss the reported rift between Jalen Hurts and
Nick Sirianni.
Speaker 2 (06:27):
You're the general manager.
Speaker 1 (06:28):
Right, you're Howie Okay, all the stuff which I'm sure
you knew, has become public.
Speaker 2 (06:33):
How do you handle it?
Speaker 3 (06:35):
Well? I think in that situation, what you do You
spend obviously a lot of time with your head coach,
who is your partner in it. All right, You talk
probably five to ten times a day normally, and you really,
you know, you break down to the you break it
down to the to get into the bottom of it.
I mean, obviously there's a lot of discussion out there
right now between you know, Howie I I you know,
when you start looking at the rumors about potentially how
(06:58):
he was interested in another head coaching situation last year,
you continue to see Bill Belichick's name come up, right.
I'm not speaking for how We of course on that.
I'm just thinking there's a lot going on there with
your head coach about what to do. And then you
have a quarterback who is a guy who's going to
be there for years to come. You better make sure
you're working on that relationship with Booth, your head coach
(07:21):
and your quarterback all the time. You kind of have
to be a little bit of Switzerland in that. That's
my way. I think you have to be very direct
with your head coach to say, look, we have to
be very mindful of our guy who's going to take
us to the Promised Land. Jalen hurts. It doesn't mean
you have to bend over backwards, but you have to
be very mindful and you have to clean up. You
know that if you have a coach in a system,
(07:42):
at an organization that is a hard ass coach, you
have to make sure that you keep that pretty darn
clean with your quarterback because that can go awry quickly
and all of a sudden that can affect everyone throughout
the organization, other players. Right, So that is something that
is as a general man, you better know exactly how
you want to approach him. Look how he's great at
(08:04):
usually doing that. So I have all the faith in
the world that he'll take care of that one way
or another.
Speaker 1 (08:08):
Stug Gottlieb Show here on Fox Sports Trayer. That's the
voice of Thomas mitchro of course, famously the former general
manager of the Atlanta Falcons when they went to the
Super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
Let's go back to the Steelers.
Speaker 1 (08:18):
Okay, I asked you really more about Ayuk, but what
are your thoughts on that quarterback situation as a whole.
Speaker 3 (08:26):
Back to the Steelers. You said, yeah, Steelers, Yep, yep, yeah.
I mean you want to ask about Russell Wilson. Is
that what you want to want to ask directly?
Speaker 4 (08:34):
Or yeah?
Speaker 1 (08:35):
I mean it's like like, listen, here's my, here's my,
here's again, the layman, non football guy asking the general
manager loaded up with analytics. Okay, he wasn't the same
after the thumb injury in Seattle, Okay, and so they
moved on. Then he's had two coaches that haven't been
able to make it work in Denver. So this would
(08:56):
be basically like a fourth coach, a fourth style in
four years. Do you believe he still has it in him?
Speaker 3 (09:05):
I'm concerned. I mean, look, we all saw what he
did back in the day in Seattle, and he did
amazing things and great. But there's a reason, as you mentioned,
they move on. They make a big time decision. They're
to move on. Of course, of course, George Peyton makes
a big time decision to bring him Denver to Denver.
To your point, things continue to fall. You look at
him and you watch him and it looks like, you know,
(09:27):
like any natural person. I don't care how great they were.
You know, they're they're they're losing stride, right, They're losing stride,
and they have to continue to adjust and they have
to continue to make the most of what their strength
still are. He still obviously has certain strengths about him,
But is he that same caliber? Of course he's not,
(09:48):
respectfully to the person and what he's accomplished. But you're
talking about winning games, and you're talking about moving forward
and be this is a very important season for the
Pittsburgh Steelers, right, I mean with you know, our Smith
comes in there and Arthur Smith has to make a
strong decision on who is the best quarterback to lead
and take the helm on this? I mean, I personally
am am a fan of justin Fields as as far
(10:11):
as an athlete, as far as a guy that can
come into a new situation and and and win games.
So is that the decision you make? But how do
you make that decision? Doug? Do you make it out
the gate or do you determine that off of some
preseason games. That's a complicated decision for an organization in my.
Speaker 2 (10:28):
Mind with right right now, so what do you do?
I mean, like, what do you do?
Speaker 3 (10:37):
I mean? I personally think you have to be very
smart about you know, really intentional about your reps with
both of the both of the you know, flotted first
and second with Russell Wilson and Justin Fields. And I
think you have to be very intentional with how many
reps not only in practice but also on you know,
during game time in the preseason. I mean, think about that,
(10:57):
Russell goes into the season and things go right, how
long do you wait before you pull the trigger and
bring in Justin Fields. That's not an easy decision, but
it is a decision that is very very uh. It's
incumbent upon you know, the head coach and course uh
and and a general manager to make a strong decision
on that and make it fairly expeditiously, I believe.
Speaker 1 (11:20):
Okay, help me out with with Caleb Williams. There have
been some critical of he had one ask of his
veteran teammates to clean up after themselves, right. I don't
know if you've seen the Hard Knocks episode, how does
that if you're you're the general manager, how do you
how do you feel about that messaging?
Speaker 3 (11:41):
Well? I think I think anytime you have a quarterback
that comes in and you're talking about you know, Caleb,
you're talking about someone like that who has a you know,
he has to get out the gate. Back to getting
out of the gate, he has to get out the
gate with a strong presence. He has to be respected.
I that's a tough one because that's you don't want
to be a nitpick leader. You know, you want to
(12:02):
be a guy that's leading on the field. You want
to be a guy that people believe in, and they
believe in quickly, right, And I think when you start
talking about things like that, that's tough for some of
the veterans to fall into line with.
Speaker 1 (12:14):
Personally, I believe Thomas de Mittrof And by the way,
his company is awesome.
Speaker 2 (12:20):
You got to check them out. It's called sumer Sports.
They have a great podcast.
Speaker 1 (12:25):

I'm I'm looking at the is that sixty five fifty four,
sixty five to fifty four, So it's excuse me, sixty
(12:57):
five fifty sixty five to fifty nine home?
Speaker 2 (12:59):
Sorry, okay.
Speaker 1 (13:00):
So what's happened basketball wise is the United States has
gone to switching everything, and to this point, Jokic hasn't
made them pay enough inside and so Serbia's offense has
gone cold.
Speaker 2 (13:16):
Their defense has been okay.
Speaker 1 (13:17):
Steph Curry's hit a bunch of shots and the Americans
are starting to get some rebounds. Joe Embie did travel
with a chance to cut that thing to one possession game.
Serbians have the ball and they're really reliant on shooting
threes with American hand on their face. They're not getting
open looks anymore because the Americans are switching everything, although
the Americans keep turning the basketball over.

I believe again my screen in my office, just so
we're aware my streaming. You know, sometimes in a buffers
it doesn't. It's not always clean.
Speaker 2 (14:04):
Is that a fifteen point lead for the Serbs?
Speaker 6 (14:08):
Okay?
Speaker 2 (14:09):
Just checking seventy six sixty.
Speaker 6 (14:11):
One, you got seventy six sixty threes.
Speaker 1 (14:14):
Okay, so I know it's coming next possession. I appreciate that,
but it is it's crazy what's happening now as the Serbians. Really,
I thought the United States came out with a great focus,
started the second half switching everything, did a good job defensively.
Then when they went to their bench, still continue with
about the same pace. Durant hasn't hit shots, but they've
(14:36):
gotten some tip ins from Anthony Davis. But they seem
to stop switching defensively. And now the Serbians have retaken
that lead.
Speaker 2 (14:45):
All right.
Speaker 1 (14:45):
They got it down to six sixers I believe the
lowest that got to.
Speaker 2 (14:48):
And then there was a.
Speaker 1 (14:49):
Four point play with thirty two seconds left. So Serbia's
lead is now fifteen point. It was fifteen points, now
it's thirteen heading into the fourth hitting the four fourth quarter.
Speaker 2 (15:00):

us in a second. There was this report we talked
(15:24):
about yesterday, the report of Jalen Hurts and the dysfunction
with he and Nick Sirianni. And then yesterday we got
the report that he actually called former Giants defensive coordinator
Wink Martindale.
Speaker 2 (15:37):
Here's Jalen talking about that.
Speaker 4 (15:39):
What compelled you to call Wink Martindale last year?
Speaker 1 (15:41):
If there was a story out today that he called
Wink Barndale after the last game, what was kind.
Speaker 2 (15:46):
Of behind that ball?
Speaker 7 (15:47):
Yeah, I was just trying to pick his brain and
see what he saw on us and try and get
some some tips on some things.
Speaker 4 (15:53):
Wow.
Speaker 7 (15:53):
Thank It's more so for me trying to continue to
pour into my cup in time some knowledge and you know,
I've had a lot of respect for what he've done,
and we've had a lot of success versus him. I
think that was a point where we were definitely trying
to make a run and make a puss, and I
was just trying to point to my cup and knowledge
from him and pick his brain on some things.
Speaker 6 (16:14):
And you know, a very.
Speaker 7 (16:16):
Very respectable person, actually a great person. I'm in that
great coach and has a great mentality about it, goes
about his business.
Speaker 1 (16:25):
Stug Gotleib show here on Fox Sports Trader. Let's look
up in Daniel Jeremiah of course moved the Sticks as
the podcast. He used to work with both the Eagles
and the Ravens. Of course, he covers the draft for
the NFL Network and he is ours our color analyst
for LA Chargers games. Have you ever heard of that before?
(16:48):
A player calling a defensive coordinator from a rival even
though they never worked together.
Speaker 4 (16:54):
Well, I think it shrinks the league a little bit, Doug,
And I don't know what the connection was there, But
you know, when you have coaching trees and then you
also have you know, agents, a lot of times you
get situations where you have players uh and coaches all
over the league that represented by the same agency, which
can uh, you know, which can spur conversations and relationships.
(17:15):
So I don't know what the what the actual connection
there was, but I wouldn't say that that's you know,
I don't think that's the first time that's ever happened.
I would put it that way, but I just don't
there's no obvious line of how they would be connected.
Speaker 1 (17:29):
What what What do you think of the reported beef
between the two between coach and player in Philadelphia?
Speaker 4 (17:37):
Well, I just think when it starts falling apart when
which it did for them, then you start questioning everything.
And I think early on with with Jalen, it was
you know, hey, I'm gonna just do whatever they're telling
me to do. I'm just trying to find my way
in this league. And then you start having success and
you become a little more in bold and I passionate
(17:59):
about things, you believe even in the way things should
be done. And then when things fall apart, I think
that's where you kind of got some of that natural tension.
And look at somebody who's worked in Philly, Doug and
talm Antonian, and you don't know the pressure cooker there.
You know, when you lose a couple of games in
a row is not the same in some of these
other markets, and that creates a lot of stress, and
that impacts relationships with player to player and player to coach.
(18:21):
I think that's something that doesn't get talked about quite enough.
Speaker 2 (18:24):
No question about it is it fixable?
Speaker 4 (18:28):
I think so. I think so. You know. One of
the things about Sirianni I was just looking at the
other day, he goes to the playoffs every year. You know,
he's he's been in a super Bowl for a very
young coach. You know, I think he's still learning things
and I think he's going to continue to get better.
But I mean, gosh, the guys got a pretty good
track record. He's been successful here. I think that sometimes
(18:50):
it's it goes back to his first press conference, I guess,
you know, which is a little bit kind of goofy,
and I think people have kind of got their opinion
on him and h and then as soon as things
started to a little bit south, I thought that it
was a little over over aggressive, a little over zealous,
and some of the criticism there. I think he's a
good coach.
Speaker 2 (19:07):
I think he is too.
Speaker 1 (19:08):
But again, and I think a lot of this is
unhurts you know, you and I have discussed this before.
Where you know, he places he goes this is kind
of he he can. He likes to promote the image
of he's all about team and winning. But one of
the general feelings, at least I know at Oklahoma a
little bit at Alabama was in the day Jalen's about Jalen.
Speaker 4 (19:29):
Yeah, and I don't think that's I don't think again
that's unusual. I mean, go through all the quarterbacks in
this league. You'll find people that know them or have
talked to them and think there's a there's some arrogance
there and some selfishness there. I think that just goes
with it playing that position. So you know, I think
you can you could you could find that and make
that point about some other guys. But this is one
(19:51):
where I think some other quarterbacks would have just you know,
maybe denied that that took place, or have tried to, uh,
you know, push to the side or limit it. He
was very open and talking about it, which I think
that was probably one of the more unusual aspects of
this whole thing.
Speaker 1 (20:06):
No question about Doug Gotlieb show here on Fox Sports Traded.
That's the voice of Daniel Jeremiah DJ. Help me out
with this one. How does the league view brandan Ayuk?
Speaker 4 (20:20):
I think he's well liked, you know, it's it's interesting
and talking to people when this stuff first started servicing
around the draft, you know, because there was rumors about
you know, he really wanted to play with his best friend,
Jadan Daniels, and that if you were going to select
Jaydan Daniels, that there was going to be pressure from
people in his camp to really be aggressive and go
(20:41):
after his best friend. You know. Again that nothing that
was ever confirmed on any of that stuff, but that's
when that conversation started. So when I began talking to
teams around the league about you, at that point in time,
it was why are we even talking about this? The
Niners aren't going to trade him. They can't trade him.
They're in a Super Bowl year, a Super Bowl push.
They're not going to be able to get any commiserate
(21:02):
value for that at this point in time. If they're
going to move him, they'd have they'd wait till after
this year. So it literally just got dismissed and end
of the conversation. So now we get to this point
and it's just bizarre that we are to a point
where I guess the Niners and Kyle has just got
to the point where he's like, I don't want this
distraction anymore. I just want this to be over with,
which is pretty incredible because you're right here on the
(21:24):
doorstep he is a really good player, and you're not
going to get you know, the same value by moving
at this point in time.
Speaker 2 (21:31):
Why do you think he's to that point?
Speaker 4 (21:34):
Yeah, that's I think everybody just kind of has their their, uh,
their breaking point of where they just don't want to
deal with it anymore. You know, they don't want to
deal with is he going to practice? He's not going
to practice. You know, how long are we going to
deal with this whole thing? The meetings get uncomfortable, you know,
quarterbacks trying to get rhythm, all all those things. And
I think you know, when you especially when you have
(21:54):
an offensive minded head coach who appreciates, you know, reps
and consistency and rhythm, that I think that Kyle says, Look,
he's a great player, but our system, you know, I
believe in our system, and I believe in our quarterback
and the rest of our group, and I just not
have to I just prefer not to be dealing with
this anymore.
Speaker 1 (22:11):
Stell Gottlieb Show here on Fox Sports Radio. Okay, where
does he fit?
Speaker 4 (22:18):
I mean Pittsburgh where I said from the jump of
where I would you know, I think he would make
a lot of sense. I just don't have faith and
George Pickens to be a reliable, consistent presence. You know,
he's he's had some unbelievable flashes, but he's not proven
to me that he can be that guy. I think
I use just a better all around player. I think
he's a more reliable player and someone who has also
(22:40):
continued to get better every year. So that to me
would give Pittsburgh something they don't have, and in a
division you know, as good as that one, I think
Pittsburgh's got a really good defense. I'm curious to see
how the Russell Fields thing, you know, shakes out as
we go forward. I still think it'll be Russell Wilson,
provided he's healthy. But they don't have enough. They just
don't have enough firepower on the side. So that's why
(23:01):
it makes sense I think for them and uh and
I think for him going somewhere where he's the unquestioned guy.
Speaker 1 (23:07):
Yeah, are we running too the possible? I know we
haven't seen Russell and we won't see him probably in
the preseason, but I I forget about it, like we're
questioning whether it be healthy, but will he be any good?
My issue, my issue with with with Pickens is he's
been intomatic, but he's also a guy who when the
quarterback's not playing well, you can see it. So you know,
(23:29):
you emotionally charge a locker room anyway with with two quarterbacks,
neither of whom anybody thinks is all that good at
you know, Russell's got his issues throwing the ball downfield now,
and justin fields is is you know, kind of half
the field sort of guy. So I just again, I'm
I'm concerned with the whole picture there in Pittsburgh.
Speaker 4 (23:48):
Yeah, I think the saving grace is going to be
the defense, which should be really good, and then it's
you know, can they just get these you know, whichever quarterback,
and I do think it'll be Russell protect the foot
oh and just kind of make the plays that are
presented and make the plays that are there. If they
had have done that last year, their year looks a
little different because their defense kept them in so many games. So,
(24:10):
you know, I don't think they have their long term
guy on campus, so to speak right now. You know,
That's why to me, I think trying to build up
a supporting cast is the direction they're going to go,
because this is a you know, there's not an option
to get better at the quarterback position. At this point
in time, they have what they.
Speaker 2 (24:26):
Have, Yeah, they do.
Speaker 1 (24:27):
It's Doug Gottlieb Show here on Fox Sports Radio. Daniel
Jeremiah is our guest. Move the Sticks is is the podcast.
Speaker 2 (24:37):
Okay, I'm I'm.
Speaker 1 (24:38):
Really interested in in what you think of the Rams.
You know, last year, I remember going out to Rams
camp and they had all these young guys and a
team that had completely nullified our collective importance of the
draft suddenly was telling us, trust us, We've drafted really
good got and they had a better than anyone could
(25:01):
imagine season. Now you have two potential star wide receivers back,
but you lose you arguably your greatest defensive player ever.
Speaker 2 (25:09):
What do you think the Rams?
Speaker 4 (25:11):
Well, I'm curious, you know, I want to see what
they look like as we get into the rigular season.
One of the things I like about defense the two
things I alwould look at you everybody talks about, you know,
obviously past rush, but I like defenses that are young
and fast and they've done a really good job, you know. Ironically,
after the way you described it about the theme and
the slogan of their Super Bowl year, they have drafted
(25:32):
a lot of young athletics, rangy defensive players over the
last couple of years, and you know, getting a chance
to see those guys last year, they got better throughout
the year, which speaks to the quality of the teaching
they have on their coaching staff. And they've added more
guys this year in clean their top two picks from
from Florida State with Jared Burston and fifth So I
think they've got a chance to be pretty good on
(25:53):
that side of the ball. And then it, you know, offensively,
it's just keep the quarterback healthy. If they keep the
quarterback healthy, I think they're a playoff team even in
that division. That's that's really good.
Speaker 1 (26:04):
I tend to agree with you, but again, we'll see
how it how it all plays out. I got a
chance to watch the Bears a little bit, completely revamped
offense with a new quarterback. How do you think the
Bear We saw them, You and I saw them. You
called the Chargers game and it that game was a
no doubt just the Chargers had better players, right, but
(26:25):
the team has been changed since.
Speaker 2 (26:27):
What do you think of the Bears now?
Speaker 4 (26:29):
Well, they're watchable, you know, let's start there. You know,
stick the analyst hat off and just put your fan
hat on. You know, they're They've gone from a team
that was just awful to watch, you know, one that
played good defense the second half of the season last year,
but just you know, it was painful to watch their
offense to now I'm intrigued.
Speaker 3 (26:46):
Man.
Speaker 4 (26:47):
I don't think the offensive line is great. I think
there's work to be done there, but you can't argue
about all the skilled talent. And Caleb's gonna be fun.
You know, they'll be growing pains. I think Jayden Daniels
with Washington probably a little more consistent early on. You'll
deal with some turnovers. Caleb maybe trying to do too much,
but he's going to make those plays. He's going to
make you know, three or four of those plays a
game that they're gonna be pretty spectacular. So the biggest
(27:10):
thing to me is they went from one that you
would skip over with the remote to hey, the Bears
are on. I'm kind of curious to see what this
looks like.
Speaker 2 (27:18):
Yeah, I am, I am as well.
Speaker 1 (27:22):
I Kirk Cousins in Atlanta.
Speaker 2 (27:27):
You know, makes sense.
Speaker 1 (27:28):
You have a guy who's just solid going to deliver
the football and obviously we know like Aaron Rodgers coming
off in Achilles ten and tear, and they have players
around him. Does he fit within how they want to
play offensively?
Speaker 4 (27:38):
Yeah, I think so. I mean it's a it's an
offense that's very similar to the one that he left in,
a coordinator that he, you know, will be familiar with
how they operate and how they work, and you got
a head coach that's been around him before. So I
think it's fits. You know, Kirk, they said it in
baseball at the time, Doug. I don't know if we
use it as much in football, but some of those
(27:58):
guys are just kind of like back of the football card,
back of the baseball card, guys like Coutain is going
to throw four thousand yards, but yes, he's just he's
done it for all these years in a row. Like
I think I on that team, I feel like that's
one of the pieces. I feel like I know what
I'm getting. Now, can they rush the quarterback? And you know,
can they get off the field on third down? But
that's that's going to be the question for me.
Speaker 1 (28:20):
Agree, He's the one and only Dan Jeremiah three ounce
the podcast.
Speaker 2 (28:25):
Check it out. We're gonna watch the end and a
half back.
Speaker 4 (28:27):
Two and a half buddy, two and a.
Speaker 1 (28:29):
Half to go, two and a half to go, thanks
so much, Daniel, Any buddy, all right, Doug Gottlieb show
here on Fox Sports Radio. He's he's talking about two
and a half back, meaning two and a half minutes
to go. Is that eighty seventy five? Eighty seventy five
is to score? Serbia has the ball, has a five lead.
Speaker 8 (28:46):
A different story, Doug. We're a little ahead of you.
Uh it's eighty six eighty four Serbia. The US actually
pulled even at eighty four a piece, but Serbia has
just retaken the lead by two with three twenty to go,
so you three minutes to go with possession down to
but they were able to tie it up, but Joel
(29:06):
Embiid has just turned it over on the ensuing possession.
So eighty six eighty four, three or five to go
in the game.
Speaker 1 (29:15):
Okay, Ye, my thing loaded and refreshed and is way
back now.
Speaker 2 (29:19):
It's super super super frustrating, super frustrating.
Speaker 8 (29:24):
I will say this, the Actualolympics dot Com box score
is ahead of what we're getting on TV.
Speaker 6 (29:31):
So it's crazy.
Speaker 8 (29:32):
I know, other sites that we used to go, you know,
usually go to for scores and following along.
Speaker 6 (29:38):
They're a bit behind.
Speaker 8 (29:40):
The actual Olympics site is actually ahead of the the
action in France.
Speaker 5 (29:47):

Speaker 1 (30:00):
Unbelievable come back from Team USA. They lead ninety five
ninety one. Steph Curry makes two free throws and barring
something miraculous, they're gonna survive the Serbs who miss a
three and Lebron James gets the rebound and the Americans win.
Speaker 2 (30:18):
What a game?
Speaker 1 (30:19):
What a comeback Steph Curry with thirty five points, Kevin
Rant with a kind of game ceiling fadeaway jump shot,
and Team USA survives and they get a chance to
play the French in Paris for a gold medal. Rapid

Speaker 2 (30:54):
Let's get to Dan Byer with the press, the.
Speaker 8 (30:58):
Press that was kind of the press. Doug Steph Curry
thirty six points. Joel embiid some huge buckets down the
stretch as well in that fourth quarter where the United
States outscored Serbia thirty two to fifteen to grab that
ninety five ninety one victory. The Americans will now face
(31:18):
France in the Golden medal game. Oh Man, Lebron James
sixteen points, twelve rebounds. Quite an effort from the Americans.
By the way, Embiid, Lebron and Steph the only Americans
in double figures. Kevin Duran a couple of big buckets.
(31:39):
He finished though with just nine points. The Americans advanced
to the gold medal game. Serbia will face Germany in
the bronze medal matchup.
Speaker 6 (31:48):
But it's the US against France coming up in the
title game at the Olympics.
Speaker 1 (31:54):
What a game, what a comeback, And you know, it
shows what these guys are truly made of, you know,
and I understand how a layman considering go you have
Jason Tatum, you need offense, whatever, you just you can't
play eleven dudes.
Speaker 2 (32:12):
And oh yeah, by the way, the faith in.
Speaker 1 (32:14):
Joel Embiid was rewarded. They don't win that game without
Joel Embiid. So amazing game, amazing basketball game.
Speaker 8 (32:21):
And this is the this is the thing that I've
talked about for the last few weeks was I mean,
I think we were all here in this in the studio,
and I know that you were talking with Daniel Jeremiah
during the interview, but we're all cheering, and it didn't
it didn't matter if you liked Lebron or if you
were a Sixers hater, so you don't like Joel Embiid,
(32:43):
It's all about cheering for Team USA at that point.
I don't know, I got a I don't know Sam
and Jason Field, but that was an awesome watch, especially
for the US to be able to come out on top.
Speaker 6 (32:56):
It was just really really exciting. Yeah, I loved it.
Speaker 2 (32:59):
Yeah, it was. It was cool.
Speaker 1 (33:01):
It was really cool, and you know, our stars stepped
up and made plays. KD with that big fade away
you mentioned Juel Embiid, Lebron James taking kind of a
secondary or tertiary role.
Speaker 2 (33:14):
Pretty cool.
Speaker 1 (33:15):
It is one of those deals to where you go,
how is this Steph Curry's first Olympic Games I know
there's a bunch of other stuff, but.
Speaker 2 (33:22):
How how is that possible?
Speaker 8 (33:25):
Yeah, the press, I think France, by the way, is
now in for a hurting right after this scare, like
they got Americans got to put the clamps down.
Speaker 1 (33:33):
I don't think that two have have any sort I
do think that I think we should be far too
physical for the French. But you're you're playing five on
eight there, but.
Speaker 2 (33:45):
True, literally five on.
Speaker 8 (33:47):
Eight, that's that's true, and maybe twenty thousand against five
as well. But still I think that I think that
the US can go out and put on a show.
Nick Foles put on a show, and Super Bowl fifty
two it's what he's going to be most remembered for.
That's because Foles retiring today from professional football after eleven seasons.
(34:08):
The Eagles will honor Foles at their home opener on
September sixteenth, in Week two against the Atlanta Falcons.
Speaker 4 (34:17):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (34:18):
I'm so freaked out though about Week one in in Brazil, right,
just weird. It's gonna be awesome, don't get me wrong.
Like the Thursday night game is always good. Sometimes there's
an upset there, but the fact we have Thursday then
Friday then Saturday, we have college football, then Sunday and
then Monday, like four to five days. NFL is gonna
be really cool. I can't even begin to think about
(34:40):
Week two.
Speaker 8 (34:41):
Yeah, well, it's that's they're gonna I just I find
it interesting that, especially with someone like Foles, who brought
you your organization's highest moment. Yes, of I mean, there's
there's no doubt winning the Super Bowl, doing it Philly
special at you in the whole deal. It Also, Doug
(35:03):
does scream to me of we're gonna be honoring Nick
Foles October ninth, you know, like that thing like to
do it on do it on your home opener. You're like, yeah, okay,
maybe I don't know. I thought maybe he deserved a
little bit more. All Right, A couple of other things
to uh to pass along. Looks like Caleb Williams is
going to start Saturday's preseason game against the Bills. We
talked about Josh Allen's fantasy status. Well, the Bills are
(35:24):
expected to play Allen and the starter is about a
quarter in that game on Saturday.
Speaker 1 (35:29):
What do you think of Josh Allen's new look? People
make it that big about his new look.
Speaker 8 (35:34):
Did he did he have a haircut. I didn't see it.
I missed it. I didn't know more about it. Oh, okaying,
all right, that's all right. I'll tell you what I disconnected.
You know, we went to the zoo on Tuesday to yeah,
we uh, we bummed around. There was a bit unplugged
from the from the real world. So I must have
missed Josh Allen's new look.
Speaker 2 (35:53):
American Noah, Yes, he's got new he's got the mustache.
Speaker 6 (35:56):
Oh the mustache. Okay, American Noah Lyles.
Speaker 8 (36:00):
At the Olympic Games was trying to get the double gold,
came down with COVID, ran the two hundred meters with COVID,
finished with a bronze, but needed a wheelchair to be
helped off.
Speaker 1 (36:12):
I mean, like, listen, I'm running with COVID. Couldn't be easy, right,
does attack your lungs. But think about the juxtaposition of
the last Olympic Games and these Olympic Games and a
guy having COVID like he had COVID, he showed up
in the stadium, the whole games would be shut down.
Speaker 2 (36:24):
Now. It's like he runs and with and he's around
people with a mask.
Speaker 8 (36:27):
Crazy that's doesn't run in with COVID sound like the
album title for Wheezer or something.
Speaker 2 (36:33):
It really does. It will be. It will be an
album title at some point.
Speaker 6 (36:38):
That's the press.
