is the trusted name and online sports betting. You must
(00:47):
be twenty one president Colorado, Illinois, Indiana or Pennsylvania to
play gambling problem called one eight hundred gambler. Um. You know, look,
tonight's game is gonna be about one guy. It's gonna
be about Mac Jones and a reformation affirmation. Um, it's
the pick of Mac Jones. There's so many different like
(01:10):
ways to bring it around last time the Falcons played
the When the Falcons play the Patriots in the Super Bowl,
Tom Brady was a quarterback, but Kyle Shanahan was their
offensive coording to the Falcons often the corner. Kyl Shanahan,
by all accounts, wanted mac Jones and he got talked
into Trey Lance. And then of course mac Jones follows
the Patriots and he's had a very very solid rookie season.
(01:33):
But it shouldn't be a surprise. Most people thought he
was a little bit more ready to play than anybody else,
and that's that's proven out as such. But I also
think it's it's a lot like a like a divorce,
right where when you're when you're going through it and
they're cutting stuff up, you know you oftentimes people want
the brightest, shiniest stuff. Oh man, I just I just
(01:56):
want the money, I want the house, I want the
cars I want. But it is and again depends upon state,
but it's generally equal. You have to find equal and
Brady and Belichick it's the perfect example of a divorce
where things were I do think equal parts in terms
of their ability to build and maintain championship level teams
there's equalness to it. But I also think that that
(02:19):
it's they each got to take home their own equal
Like Belichick got to keep the house, if you will, right,
he kept the house. It's basically what happened. He kept
the house. And look at what the housing market has
done at the time. You know, Brady, you've got to
go and get to the winter House and down in Florida.
(02:41):
And he got the freedom to go and spend, would
get what it makes, whatever he wants, and he took
a couple of guys with him. Belichick's is a far
more conservative play. Kept the house, kept the kids. And
oh yeah, by the way, he's now back. And because
of where they were as a franchise, everybody about last
year and how bad they were and how much Brady won.
(03:03):
Brady went to a team that was loaded because they've
been bad for so long, and Belichick, well, he had
eight optouts on defensive loan and they lost their quarterback
and they're in cap hell, so they couldn't really add
much and they hadn't drafted well. One year later, Brady
still looks good. You have a chance to win the
Super Bowl, as he always does. Belichick looks like He's
rebuilt this thing. Keep in mind they trade away their
(03:26):
best cornerback in the middle of the season. Keep in
mind they have a rookie quarterback and they haven't even
played their best yet because they haven't been fully healthy yet.
But they're getting there. This is like any trade, or
like any divorce. You split it up. But even in
the Patriots case, Belichick didn't lose. That divorce, didn't lose
(03:48):
in terms of what he got. It was just gonna
pay off in a different time span than Brady's was.
Brady's was the immediate, short, short term payout. Belichick is
much longer. BELLI check, got the IRA, the four oh
one K, you know, all the future the future stuff.
So it feels like to me, now, can they win
a Super Bowl this way? I don't know. I don't know.
(04:12):
Can they be competitive? The answer is yes, they've been competitive?
By Are you think they can win a Super Bowl?
Mac Jones? Um, maybe not this year, but yeah, in
time for sure. What about you just do I don't
see it? But but I don't think anytime soon? Why
(04:34):
don't you steal you? Yes? How soon? Um? I mean, look,
it all depends on how they finish and what they do,
and I mean does anybody in the a f C
value right now? No. Each team has flaws for whatever reason.
I just don't see this a rookie quarterback winning the
(04:55):
Super Bowl. I mean I don't either, but I mean
it's not it's it's not out of the around the possibility.
It's it's very possible. They have a really good defense,
a really good offensive line, um, fairly conservative game plan.
I don't think they can win us their Bowl, but
I mean, stranger things have happened. I argued on Sunday
Doug that this team is the most uh steady of
(05:19):
the teams of the a f C right now. When
you look at the up and downs of the Buffalo
Bills or the up and downs of the Kansas City Chiefs,
and you see how they're volatile. And I know Tennessee
isn't there, but you don't have Derrick Henry, so who
knows how that's going to play out in the long term.
When you look at consistency and who's kind of been
that steady hand and even put Baltimore in that roller
(05:40):
coaster conversation, the New England Patriots have been pretty steady
and even their losses this season. Have been good losses,
close losses to two good teams, maybe since the Dolphins
in Week one, but that was a long time ago.
And I mean six point lost to the Cowboys, close
game to the Buccaneers and Tom Brady returned, Yeah, steady
(06:03):
Eddie of the New England Patriots. Yeah, and people forget, like,
you know, the was it? The was the Tampa game.
They line up for a field goal to win it.
They're right there with the Cowboys. I mean they've been
they've been competitive with some of the more the super
talented teams, and they don't just get run off the
field by teams some more talent. And and that's when
you had a quarterback in the very early stages. And
(06:24):
it stands the reason every week he sees something new,
he processes something new, and he's going to be better
because of it. And I would also argue that the
two of the last three wins are against teams that
we view them as maybe common or Peers and the
Chargers and the Browns. And they went to l A
and took care of the Chargers and then they dismantled Cleveland.
(06:45):
This I thought, I said this in Baud. I thought
that's where we're going that's right, that's that's my fault.
My bad. It's really steady. It's that they are really Yeah,
they're they're boring and they're good. They narrative Rumandra Stevenson
comes in runs the ball. If he doesn't do it,
Brandon Bolden ends up taking it over. There's no they're
(07:06):
not gonna be handcuffed by a Derrick Henry type of
injury either. Yeah. Uh six and a half wink favorite
tonight at Atlanta. That's another story. I I one team
wins forty five to seven, and then the other team's
coming off of what forty two to three loss that
that they're forty three to three short of the Cowboys
(07:29):
appoint I think the Patriots win, but I think it's
a much closer game even if Cordell Cordarrell Patterson doesn't
play for Atlanta. Okay, uh, you you think it's closer
than that? What about you? J Sto, What do you
think you're not? You're not a buyer into the to
the Patriots. You're not a buyer as much into mac Jones.
(07:50):
So I take it you're taking Atlanta night. Um. I
not thinking they're gonna win a Super Bowl this year.
It definitely doesn't make me not a buyer. But I
will say this to three Patriots, I'm gonna go with
that one. To three Patriots, you think, oh oh oh oh,
(08:15):
So you have them covering in unders. You have the
Patriots in the under yep, okay, Rama's where are you well?
I like with dance at about the stability of the Patriots,
and I if you think about the stability of the Patriots,
would assume you think about the unstability of the Atlanta Falcons.
So in that sense, I'll take the stability and the
Patriots win. And I do think they win by at
(08:35):
least a touchdown. I don't think the Falcons are really
that good. I don't they are not and and stability
and Belichick and like you talked about mac Jones, I mean,
the guy is doing what he needs to do to
at least keep the team competitive and winning, and that's
enough for me. Whereas Atlanta is on the wrong side.
They're going the opposite direction. So I like, I like
(08:56):
the Patriots tonight. Um, it's interesting you said at about
Atlanta and obviously they were just awful this past week.
I mean, they could not have been could not have
been any any any worse. They beat the Saints the
week before, right, they lost to the Panthers, to beat
the Dolphins, to beat the Jets, to beat the Giants. Right,
but um, it should be pointing out when they when
(09:17):
they beat the Saints, right, that's when um Trevor Simeons
was their quarterback treviors. It means numbers weren't terrible, but
the Saints scored what quarter points put them away, so
they were actually good against the Saints. Good. Um, they
can't really run the football at all at all. So
I'm with you. I think the Patriots win. I'm just
(09:38):
stuck on this number. Are they gonna win by a touchdown?
I don't know if they went by a touchdown in
a short week, you know, when you have to go
on the road, even if Atlanta is not very good.
And I pointed out that outside of the Saints win,
and the Saints have a bunch of curious stuff going
on outside that they've beaten basically the bottom of the league.
Be sure to catch the live edition of the Doug
gott Leap Show week days at three pm Eastern noon
(10:00):
Pacific Doug Alip Show, Fox Sports Radio, Do Do Do
Do Do? Do. So. The the Jets quarterback situation is interesting, right,
they move up to take the second pick of the draft,
who hasn't been good and now he's been hurt but
(10:21):
not ready and not ready, so then what do they do? Okay,
what do they do? They get Mike White? But then
Mike White gets benched. Then it's Joe Flacco. Flacco said
this about not being vaccinated. Yeah, I'm not vaccinated. I
definitely have my reasons. Honestly, probably like to talk about
(10:42):
this topic more than anybody. It's one of those things
that you debate with all the time. But I've overall
felt like it's more of a distraction than anything. So
I feel like to kind of talk about it too
much and give you all my beliefs is more of
a distraction than anything. I think the most important thing
is going to play the football game. Most important thing
is going to play a football game. I I understand
(11:04):
what he's saying, where it's like, look we have some
sort of dissertation or I give my thoughts and I
go Aaron Rodgers on you it it takes us away
from everything else. But he he kind of did say no,
not boo boo, I have a secret. I'm not gonna
tell you, right, My secret is how I really feel
about being vaccinated not being vacstad. But he's he's right.
(11:30):
It would create a complete distraction. Do you know what
The way to not have any distraction would be that
I would be getting backstead. There's no real follow up
questions to that one. I don't want to cause the distraction,
but I don't want to be vaccinated. I know why,
and I want to argue with you why, but I
(11:50):
can't because, well, because you'll turn it into an argument
like I don't know, or maybe just push back on
your on your and your supposed facts. But it's a
it's a The Jets quarterback room is a fascinating place.
Of course, your Flacco is bet was other guys. He's
played a ton of football, but he's had the bad back.
(12:12):
He doesn't move all that well. But I thought the
point that they made, I think Robert salom made in
terms of, you know, handling blitzes and zero blitz is whenever,
like the veterans, they can get out and get rid
of it. I don't know Flacco is one who gets
rid of it all that quickly. What a weird room
like a week week week ago, Mike White was getting
(12:32):
cheered and chanted when he walked into locker room. Now
he's pursoning on grouty yes, JS two along those Along
that point, they're like, I think Mike White was quoted
last week and and and correct me if I'm wrong.
But he was like, yeah, I mean I always see
myself as the the number one overall pick. I think
I should have been drafted number one. Like there was
this big hype machine behind Mike White and then he
(12:53):
goes out and lays an egg and always benched. And
there was also like articles you can google like Tom
bre A d and Mike White, and they were comparing this.
So maybe White is like the Tom Brady to Drew
Bledsoe situation. Yeah, we talked about whether that's He's Schuler
and Gus far Rott right, a number one, a top
(13:13):
pick and a later pick. Yes, John Ramos, I think
it's don't you think that every team when they're not good,
they want to have hope, and so a guy comes
out there and he does a great job and they're like,
we finally this guy's great, he's awesome. I mean, we
finally got a guy. And then he lays an egg
and they're like, oh, I think it's just this perception
(13:36):
of wanted to make their team be great, like we
finally got somebody, and they gives some hope, you know, hope.
It's always a great thing. Well that's why they you
play young guys, you know, down the stretch here when
you're not gonna make the playoffs, to give you some hope.
On the other hand, you do want to give hope
to the guys in locker room. You can win football
games if you're just stable at quarterback, and Joe Flacco
is that kind of stable. Like, look, I can I'm
(13:56):
a grown up. I can do this. Doug got O
here on Fox Sports Radio. Um, okay, so americanly m
VP is going to be and we think Shohio Toni
nationally m VP. Give me a pick. I'll go Bryce
Harper j Sto. I mean, Tattoos put up those massive numbers,
(14:21):
and I think he only played like a hundred and
twenty games or something. If you're not going to give
it to a guy who led his team anywhere, which
none of these guys did. Um I I go with
Tattoos just on the impressive numbers. Ramos I go I'll
go with Bryce Harper just because anybody with the padres
no no no. I think for that tattoos Is is wonderful.
(14:41):
I I just don't know if the writers like him
as a budget I'm just I'm a writer. You get
to pick who you want. Oh uh, well, I agree
with I agree with Jason, and I think Tatis had
the most impact of I mean, but like of of
all those three guys, but Bryce Harper is even though
Bryce Harp where it has been kind of like that
contrarian guy too, Like the writers don't like him either,
(15:04):
So what's who's the third guy? I'm sorry, Uh, I
don't think Soto had a great the best year of
his previous better years, I think, So I'll go with Tatis.
I think Tatis wins Harper second, Soto third. He just
flipped on us, by the way, And well, I mean
so it was in the MVP discussion. You don't think
he had a great year. I mean, and I think
(15:25):
he's been better. How's that um compared to Tattas and Harper.
He's still a hell of a player. He's definitely deserves
to be in the talk every year. He's he's that good.
But I think Tatis impact, even though he was amazing,
he just got hurt. He got hurt, and then he
had to play the outfield, which it was quite interesting itself.
(15:47):
And the padre is just I think they had too
much pressure on them. I think they and the pitching
staff just fell apart, like a completely the whole team
and then the team he kind of imploded and completely
fell apart as well. That that happens to a lot
of those teams. The young guys, new guys haven't been
there before. And we'll see if they can get together
next year, and we'll see what the Dodgers look like
(16:08):
next year as well. Who do you think, um? I
think Ta Tease is gonna work. Um. When he was healthy,
he was just incredibly budment force. I mean, like he
put up season numbers even though he played you know,
two thirds of the season, and it's crazy what he
(16:30):
was able to stum to. That was pretty crazy. Yeah,
that was That's like, Yeah, that's one of those one
of those sort of moments. Paul Pierce is partnering with
Draft Kings to be the face of a fun new
sports betting ad campaign. Okay and uh DraftKings sports bookers
one dollar on a game across either NBA, NFL, college basketball,
(16:52):
college football. If either team scores, you win a hundred
dollars free bet bonus that offers a lot on draft kings.
So he'll join his momentarily care of of of draft kings. Um. So,
so here's my My first time I met Paul was
my sophomore year. Summer of my sophomore assume me um
(17:16):
February and playoffs. In my sophomore year, we played Englewood
in the second round and we were good but not great,
and they were they they had a good record. I
don't know why they had their second round game on
the road. I think they had a better seed than us.
But the way the playoffs work, you play one at home,
the next one is on the road, unless the unless
you both won, and then the higher seat. I don't know.
(17:38):
So that's just all true story. We So, we had
a guy who's a big guy on our team who
could dunk right, and he was big, six five white,
I could kind of dunk, but he had the week before,
a couple weeks before we had winter formal, and in
a basketball practice, he got a hit in the nose
and like you know, bloods, just like we're rushing out
(17:59):
of his knows and he was. He was crying because
he got his nose broken. And we had like winter
formal coming up that Saturday, and like we're like, what
I mean, granted, your nose is gonna look like you're
breathing out of your ear, but like that's what you're
worried about. So obviously we thought he was a little
(18:19):
bit soft. Paul Pierce got a tip dunk on him
where his legs kind of came up onto my teammates
shoulders and we got beat by Englewood. But he was
a backup and he was kind of heavy, and no
one knew anything about him. Fast forward to a year
and a half later and we're on the same team
at ABCD, which is the big summer camp, and Paul
(18:42):
Pierce was my roommate and he would tell me every night,
I'm the best player here. I'm going to be the
best player in America, and I'm going to play in
the NBA and I'm gonna win NBA Championship. And you
know what, it wasn't bragging because he was right. It
wasn't bragging because he was right. He had just had
that amount of faith and belief, and he wasn't a
(19:03):
guy who was like a prodigy growing up as always
the best player. He had to lose some weight, he
had to lean up and he became an absolutely great player,
great player. We had Dan Shaughnasy on yesterday, remember, and
shaunasy talked about how those those birds Celtics teams have
a much there's a much bigger fund spot in their
heart than the Pierce lead team that won a title.
(19:24):
One because of multiple titles, but to also um those
guys had been there forever. Those guys were life for Celtics,
and I think that changed things for people. Lane change
things for people. You know what this this Celtic team
reminds me of the Antoine Walker Paul Pierce Celtics teams. Right,
(19:46):
we have two completely dominant wing scores, but doesn't mean
the team can actually win that. Do you like that
parallel fire? I thought, of all people, you would like
that that this is This is a two thousand twenty
one version of Antoine Walker and Paul Pierce with Jalen
Brown and Jason Tatum. Yes, yes, but but going in
different directions like the previous version was maybe a team
(20:11):
that was going on the way up, and I don't
know what's happening, you know, with Boston right now. I
don't know if they've you know, if if that was
their peak over the last couple of years, if it's
still growing, I mean that would be that would just
be the only thing where I felt maybe those other
two were because they were young, could be a rotten
miss representation. But and looking back, that's kind of how
(20:34):
I view it, fair enough, absolutely fair way of looking.
I was watching that Laker game last night, and obviously
they're not the same without Lebron. You also have to
contextualize and realized that I think it was two years
ago that Janice lit up the Lakers hit a bunch
of threes, and everybody deemed him to be fixed as
shooting and he never hit the number three's and the
rest of the season. But he has been hitting his
(20:56):
threes this year, so three for four last year he
was last night, he was playing well. But if you
look statistically, he's been shooting the ball very well with
a higher volume of threes this season. And if if
he's making threes, I don't really know how you guard him.
I mean, you still would would rather him shoot threes
than anything else, though, I mean if you had I mean,
(21:16):
if you had to pick your poison, not no question,
no question. But if he's making him like how do
you guard that? I would still let him chuck it.
That's I mean, that's the only way. What he does
is when you back up because he wanted to check it,
he just starts, he gets going downhill, and the second
you declare a sied, he spins the other way. Like
(21:38):
it's really hard, really hard. So Lakers are kind of
a mess. Yeah, yeah, And it's so it's so early
in the season, even though we're a month in, and
when you look at how this is going to set up.
I mean, the Bucks if the season ended today, wouldn't
even be in the in the Eastern Conference playoffs, it
wouldn't even make the top ten seeds. But it's kind
of a log jam there with the teams with seven wins.
(21:59):
But it's still early on Milwaukee. You know, just got
Chris Middleton back. You've been out for a while, drough holiday,
missed games earlier. You're talking about Lebron being out. I
still think that there's gonna be remnants of these past
two seasons trickling into this one, even though this one
is a little bit more normal or is back to
trying to be a more normal season. Yeah, I mean
(22:20):
there's just so many games played beating up to it
last year, and some guys playing the Olympics. You're just
gonna have guys falling out. Yeah, yeah, absolutely. I mean
it's it's so tough to not even not even because
the finals ended in late July, but just of how
things came together last season and there's so many things
that are still up for grabs. It's just difficult for
(22:43):
me to take, uh, you know, to take seriously this
NBA action, Doug, I gotta make up for an era
made earlier. Discover brings you out today's show. Real credit
card questions require real people, someone who understands your issues
and works to resolve them with you. That's why Discover
offers helpful US based representatives available disco over exceptionally common sense.
All right. The legend himself, Paul Pierce, joined us on
(23:04):
the Doug Gottlieb Show on Fox Sports Radio. I don't
know if you remember where a B C D camp
and you turn to me and you go, you know,
I'm the best player here. You know, I'm gonna play
in the NBA, I'm on a championship and I'm being
a Hall of being, the Hall of Fame. And then
you were looking at your muscles and kissing them, and
you know what, you said it with such conviction, and
(23:25):
then you went out and did it. How are you?
What's up? How you doing? Man? In order to achieve something,
you gotta believe something. That's what I always kid no question,
no question, and it is It's a huge part of
making it is having that undying self confidence. Have you
ever questioned yourself? You know? I don't. I don't think
(23:45):
I've ever questioned myself. You know why because I put
the work in. And when you put the work in,
it gives you self belief. Uh. And that's the most
important part because a lot of people can say it,
but they don't put the work in, you know. And
I knew that if I'm gonna say it, that I'm
gonna put the work in and try to back it
up to the best of my potential. Do these Celtics
(24:05):
remind you at all when you in Twine? Because when
you're Twine, were there you're both putting up numbers, but
you couldn't win big is there is there are there
any similarities with Jalen and uh An Tatum in you
and Antoine Walker when you guys were with the Celtics. Yeah, absolutely,
they got two All Star players. I just think that
the Celtics need to continue to put the right pieces
(24:27):
around them and not give up on them. You know,
this team has been together, the core group has pretty
much been together for you know, quite some time. But
they're still young. You know, they just got to continue
and find the right pieces to plug in there, uh
to get them an opportunity. But of course, you know,
in order to win a championship, the one common denominator
I said, I always say you have to have a
(24:48):
top five player in the NBA, and that seems the
bird very true of the time when you look at
the champions and if Jayson Tatum or Jalon Brown can
become a top five maybe top ten player, and then
it gives themselves the best chance. But if not, they
got to continue to put pieces around them, maybe at
another All Star accountable player if they want to take
that next step. Are you a buying To be honest?
(25:10):
The shooter's shooting the ball much better this year three
or four last night from three. Do you buy that
this long term will will will be sustainable? You know what?
I like the fact that he's working on it because
we talked about Ben Simmons. You know, he doesn't take
the shot. Janice has continued to grow and improve and
we're talking about a guy who's already been a two
(25:32):
time m VP of NBA Finals m v p uh
and pretty much without a jumper. I mean, shot couldn't
shoe pre throws. I mean, you can't get everything all
the time. But what you got in the honest is
what you've got that he proved last year is that
he's a winner. Uh mean he was, and he was
incredible in the final game of the Finals. Stuck gotlip
show on Fox Sports Trade. That's the voice of Paul
(25:54):
Pierce who joins us care of the good folks at
at Draft Kings. Um, what do the Lakers obviously haven't
had Braun I mean, Russell's statistically still doing his his thing.
But man, I mean they're they've had some they've had
some stinkers they thrown out there. What are you get
the Lakers so far? Well? I think you just have
to be patient. I think this is a team that
(26:16):
And I said this before the season to quite a
number of people. I said, they're gonna struggle in the
regular seasons because for one year, the Lakers and teams
are gonna be up to play you every night. Uh too,
you got older legs and so and I told people,
like the year in two thousand ten, we were seated.
I believe we were like a fifth or sixth seed
and got to the finals, but we struggled in the
(26:38):
regular season because we had older legs, and it was
just like once the game slows down and you know,
you get into a playoffs setting and now you have
practices and scout reports. I think the Lakers i q
s are one of the best teams in the league.
But and if they're healthy, they'll get to the finals.
In the Western Conference, a healthy Laker teams in the
seven game series game slowed out will get to the finals.
(27:01):
But they just got to find a way to make
it through the regular season. Yeah. And and I don't know,
like Lebron now it's his abs, his anchor before, like
how do you how do you get used to playing
with him when he's not playing. It's gonna be tough,
but they're gonna have they got time. You know, as
long as they can get thirty to forty games together,
(27:21):
I think they'll be fine. If they don't, if they're
not able to do that, then they I don't think
they got a shot. But you know, maybe this is
a good thing from Lebron because even if he was playing,
he would looked like he would have the shoulder a
really big low because the Lakers can't seem to win
without him. But it's a fairly new team, you know,
new personalities, you're trying to eject rest into your DNA
(27:41):
and what you're trying to do. And you know he's
gonna have to change his game up again once Lebron
comes back. But it's tough, especially at the older age
from Lebron, to get through the regular season. Just mentally,
it's gonna be. It would have been tough on him
even if he was healthy. You know, think about it,
all the years he's played, all the championship runs he made.
The regular season doesn't matter as much to a guy
(28:04):
like that. You just want to get healthy and get
to the playoffs. Um, you think I replace this here?
I do. I do. I think at some point ro
Kyrie is gonna really realize what's at stake, and uh,
there's gonna be a glitch in the system. I mean,
I don't I'm not sure he's gonna take the back,
but I do believe he's gonna play somehow. I'm not
(28:24):
sure how that's gonna look or how that's gonna be,
but I do believe he's gonna he's gonna get on
the court. Who is who's the godfather of like? Because
there's lots of former players that are in the weed
industry right between growing it and selling it and proponsive.
Who's who's the Who's the guy Who's the one who
when you start to get into it, you picked up
the phone and you called for advice? Oh the person
(28:47):
not It wasn't no player. I called Snoop Dogg all day.
You know. I had to sit down meeting with him,
and you know, he just said, just remember when what's
important your brand, protect that you know this is something
you want to do, go full fledge in it. You know.
And a lot of people know that I'm in cannabis industry.
(29:08):
You know, I've been white labeling, promoting brands, and I'm
here to launch my brand next month in the city
of Boston. So you know, it's just you know, I
went to the guyfather of cannabis, which is Snoop Dogg Right,
so it was it was Willie and there Willie Nelson
in there like you knock, get knocked on the door,
and who lives in Hawaii. I didn't get a chance
(29:29):
to talk to him. Okay, So so what's a meeting
like with Snoop Blake? Like? Is it at an office?
Is it at like his house? You guys go to
Starbucks where huh at his compound? He has a compound
out here in l A. It's like uh warehouse where
he has a studio, bad rules basketball court. It's like
(29:49):
a campus and I think he lives there, but it's
like gated off like a compound. And so you know
you're going to a compound where you got the guard
at the gate to let you in and uh you know,
you got the parking lot. It's like a reals like
it was like uh from Escobar, it was like this
(30:10):
this is this is my best as as you got
a chance to play a little bit for my dad,
my late father, and uh did I appreciate that we
were I was playing for the Lakers in their summer
League and I left to go play in this deal
overseas or whatever. When I came back, Uh, my Dad's like, hey, hey,
(30:32):
some some Snoop Snoopy Dog told me to tell you
what's up. I was like, what, there's some other some
of his kids and it Steven with him, like yes,
Snoop Dogg came and asked where where were you you
missed the last game with the Lakers. I was like, Dad,
it's not Snoopy Dog. It's Snoop Dogg. It's like whatever.
He just he was Is he famous? I was like, yes,
he's really famous. He's when do you get when? When
(30:56):
when do I get an invite to Poker Night? That's
what I want to know. Hey, man, any all you want? Man, shoot,
we launched him back. We're starting back up next month.
May give me a holl of I will, I will
tell me about this. Tell what you're doing with the
folks of Draft Kings. Yeah, and so you know I'm
part of that new themes to where you know we're
putting together different promotions. One of the biggest promotions we
(31:16):
have now if you join, if you're a new customers
joined for free, you pay one daughter if either team scores,
you get a hundred dollars. How about that for like
a startup. That's like a win win situation. That's what
we call a win win situation. And so, but I
also always like to tell people that, you know, when
they get into sports betting that just make sure you
(31:37):
gamble responsibly and within your minutes. Please. You know, it's
not for everybody, but as long as you do that,
you can have fun with it. I enjoy watching the
game with us with a fair token bet with some
of my friends, and it makes the game fun to watch.
You know. It's inually you're going into the college Basketball
Hall of Fame. Right in a couple of days, you're
in the Namith Memorial Hall of Fame. Um, how the
(32:00):
hell did you guys lose? How did that? Because my
year you were there was the year before when you
were a sophomore. Yeah, when you have you have Jock,
you have you Howard? How did how did you lose? Dude?
That just tells you how hard it is to win
in the n C Double A tournament. You got one
(32:20):
that day and then some of it, but we lost
in some great teams, like like my first year, we
lost the Syracuse and went on to the National champion
But Championship and lost to Kentucky. The second year we
lost to UH to Arizona, which had the great Mike
Bibbie Mouth Simon, you know, phenomenal backcourt. But it shows
you gotta have guard player. You know, we had big Man,
(32:40):
we had Jack Bond, but you gotta have guards, top
flight point guard, two guards who can shoot the three
to win the ncvl A tournament. Don't matter how good
your bigs or wings are. Every year you see it,
even Tim Duncan and College didn't even make it to
the final four. You know, you gotta have card play
and so uh and then my last year we lost
the Old Island in the second round Tyson Willer and
(33:02):
Contino Mowgli. You know this guy shot lights out. So
you know, I go show you we're trying to build
a college championship team and starts at the guard question.
We we played you guys, we'd wait until he'd take
Coach Williams would take you and Raife out the same time.
We're like, we got no chance, and they're both in
the game. Then you guys both come out and like, okay,
we got a chance. Now hey, well you were the
(33:24):
Oak State, right, yes, yeah, yeah, I remember pounding. I
think we went eight and on y'all. Uh well, you
only played once a year, beat us by four the
only time. Twice a year. Whatever, No, no, didn't play
twice you look it up. Didn't play twice a year.
Big twelve, you had the Big twelve North played once
(33:44):
a year, once a year. Oh my gosh. All right,
I'll give you that. I'll give you that. But a
lot of people don't know you don't a lot of
people don't know you was. You was the point guard
on our summer league team, and we won a lot
of games. In high school. We we had a we
had a squad. Was a pretty good year. I saw,
actually saw Gillanni Gardner, who is our other point guarding
that ABC D team. He was, Yes, he got seven
(34:05):
foot tall. Son is a junior dude. He's he's really
really really nice, really nice. All right, Paul, we appreciate
you join us. We'll talk soon. I can't wait for
that invite to the poker game. And thanks for joining us. Alright, alright,
that's the one and only. That's the truth. Paul Pierce,
join us. Be sure to catch the live edition of

That's why I Discover offers helpful US based representatives available
seven Discover exceptionally common sense. Let's get to the press,
the press. Dan Buyer, who he's been to the Bound,
(34:52):
the the Snoop Dogg Compound and he spent a lot
of time there. Yes, yes, absolutely, it's we always have
a great time. Doug Antonio Brown's name is in the news,
and it's not because he didn't practice today for the
Buccaneers as they prepare for the Giants on Monday night.
The Tampa Bay Times is reporting that a former chef
who was at odds now with Brown over money that
(35:13):
the chef feels that the wide receiver Osama Well, that
chef is claiming that Brown obtained fake vaccination cards this offseason.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have actually released a statement saying
that quote, all vaccination cards were reviewed by Buccaneers personnel
and no irregularities were observed that as part of a
(35:34):
statement from the Buccaneers, but Antonio Brown could be getting
in some hot water again. Hot water, hot water, Um, yeah,
it's not good. The basically the Buccaneers like, well, we
checked out the vaccination cards and they all checked out.
Doesn't mean that the original vaccination card was was legit,
(35:54):
but that would be a yeah, that'd be a bad
look for Antonio Brown because he's had so many other
issue us with it with that proverbial law. Yeah. The
chef claims that Brown's girlfriend asked the chef to obtain
a fake vaccination card to Johnson, and Johnson preferably for
a B. The chefs said that he would try, and
then later when he ended up meeting up with Brown
(36:16):
at his home, saw a bunch of fake vaccination cards
on a coffee table or on a you know, dining
room table. Also, Alex Guerrero, Tom Brady's trainer, actually had
done some rehab with Antonio Brown and also went to
Brown's home took a picture of one of the vaccination cards.
He's not believed to be have any role in any
of this, but that a B could have used that
(36:37):
fake card to also use it with Alex Guerrero. Former
Yukon coach Jim Calhoun's career is over retiring. He was
coaching in D three as we mentioned earlier. But Calhoun,
who won three national titles at Yukon, calling it quits
and Uh, let's name Miller is gonna take over for him? Right?
Uh he was the he was assistant at Yukon and
(37:00):
then he was the head coach at Brown. God, what's
his name? It's the same as um Glenn Miller, same
as the orchestra back in the twenties. Glenn Miller is
gonna take out for him. That's St. Joe College. It's
right in the middle of West Hartford. I mean literally
went there all the time to play pickup basketball. Uh.
I like Calhoun, I just you can't understand it because
he talks about ast to the bastard accent. You can
out his stand what he says. Yes, it quickly. A
(37:24):
report out of Miami says that from Fox Sports sixties
Andy Slater that Lane Kiffin would leave All miss for
the University of Miami job before if it were open. That,
according to Andy Slayter, a Fox Sports Radio sixty, didn't
the guy who used to buy players from Miami. Wasn't
he the one who broke broke that story? Nevin Shapiro
(37:45):
was then Yes, Yes, Stug gotlip show on Fox Sports Radio. Okay,
uh god so easy. I'm gonna take the under the
and the Patriots tonight. You got all of our picks.
Doug got him show
