Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, right, this is the Dog Godly Show years
in the bonus with Doug Godly, I got B Sports Radio.

(00:20):
We made it. We made it. We we we we
made it. We you you made it. I made it.
We made it. Was it was a hard week, right,
I mean like we had all of that football over
the weekend. We're like, man, okay, fine, one more football
game on Monday night. Then obviously, um a tragic end

(00:42):
to that game, and then all of a sudden, now
we have we have good news, better even better news
today and um um yeah, I just like, what a
what a week we've all been through? Huh. And I
mean like, look, well, let's not pretend like we're tomorrow
Hamlin and we fought for our lives and we two

(01:04):
days of our lives. We're basically in a coma and
came to and just had you know, uh and and
just had the uh, the the intubation pulled out and
now talking to teammates. But I'm just kind of an
emotional week where you start to reality realize the realities
of possibilities of football and all kinds of different stuff. Um. Alright,

(01:27):
So we talked in the radio show about about this,
but I want to talk about it again here because
I do think that it's a very interesting plan and
some of the pushback to it, which only comes really
from one team, is fascinding. So the NFL owners have
approved a plan that leaves open the possibility of a

(01:49):
neutral site a f C Championship game that could determine
home field advantage between for a wild card game between
the Bengals and the Ravens could be decided by a
coin flip. Now, it should be point out that the
Ravens play the Bengals this weekend, right, and there's a
lot of speculation based upon the point spread that Tyler
Huntley won't even play. Now you're gonna have Lamar Jackson,

(02:11):
So it probably becomes a moot point. Do points ever
become not? There's no other way in which the word
moot is used. Did you ever notice that, jas do
No one ever says moot in any other sentence other
than when they say it's a moot point. Ah, Yeah,

(02:32):
that sounds about right. I mean, you ever heard it
used any other way? Well? I think that I think
I've heard it used like, well, that's moot at this point,
But yeah, I don't know. Does it always good, good question.
At this point that it's always moot, right, like even
when you look up as an adjective in the dictionary. Uh,
it's a subject, debate, dispute, or uncertainty, whether they've been

(02:53):
successful or not. At the point, it was not a
moot point. It's it's all like moot related. Moot as
always connected with the word point. No one ever says
the word moved otherwise. I just always thought that to
be fascinating. So the first thing is, okay, so help
me out with this, jay st let me let me
understand fully. Okay, let me understand fully exactly what took place.

(03:20):
So they said, hey, if it's the a f C
Championship game, and I believe the ideas, if it's between
what the Bengals and the Bills, where do the Chiefs
fit into this mix? No, the Chiefs fit in if
they make the f C Championship game against the Bills,
then it's going to have they have home field or
that it's neutral site. It's gonna be a neutral site. Yeah,

(03:42):
according to the what the the owners just voted on.
And so what I've been told is okay that they'd
love to do Indie. Everybody loves do Indie. It's a
great city, it's a great stadium. The problem with India
is the proximity Cincinnati. It's an hour and a half Cincinnati.

(04:02):
That if it's Buffalo and Cincinnati, that that Cincinnati gets
an unfair advantage. So then the thought becomes, you know,
do they do it in Detroit where there's no real
advantage for either team? Of course Detroit. The problem with
Detroit for an ANFC championship game is they're supposed to
peel up the turf and replace the turf because the
Lions obviously don't expect to have games played in the

(04:26):
at Ford Field in January. Why why would you expect that?
I like Vegas? Why doesn't anybody like Vegas? Like, dude,
not in neutral side game? And this whole like, well fans,
full fans travel, helly yellow travel to Vegas. Flights aren't
that expensive, it's warmer weather, Like why don't we do Vegas?
What do you think of? I mean, like, look the
first thing, and we said this in the radio show

(04:47):
and I'll say it again. I understand the Bengals. If
you're upset, I get it doesn't appear to be totally
equitable that you go through a season and it feels
like you're better than the Ravens and you gotta and
it takes a phone of coin toss to or to
get a home field game in the playoffs. I get it.
On the other hand, we just saw a tragic event.
It's like if you would if they would have had

(05:10):
this exact same feelings two days ago, people would have said, man,
that's incredibly insensitive. So we can't go from from understanding
it's insensitive to now you know now Hamlin's okay, okay,
Now we're gonna bitch and complain about something where we're
doing the best we possibly can. That's I think, you know.
It's It's one. I'm an impatient person, and I say

(05:32):
this knowing that all my stuff is not always been together.
I'm not always on time. Frankly, most times I'm not
on time. Yet I don't I struggle with other people
not being on time as well. So so the the
it's very normal and reasonable for the Bengals to do
a woe is me. It's it's it's reasonable, um, and

(05:59):
look mean I because it's reasonable, I can't get super
critical of the timing of it. Right. Hamlin's Okay, talk
to his teammates. It appears no one has said, like
he's going to survive this thing, no idea if he'll
ever play football again. And I'm not sure that And
I know that really doesn't matter in the grand scheme.

(06:21):
So now we've set that aside. But do you really
want to complain about scheduling where there's no perfect answer here? Right,
there's no perfect and and and look, the Bengals are right,
there are by laws that state that they should get
home field against the Ravens based upon the previous by laws.

(06:44):
But this is a what you want to say, catastrophic
situation or or one that was unforeseen. There's a lot.
I mean, it's one of the things that we learned
during COVID, which is sometimes you have to plant and
pivot and do the best possible thing in the shortest
amount of time, and you might get it right, you
might get it wrong. I mean, honestly, it's kind of

(07:04):
how I view like the whole vaccine thing. Like, I
know that there are people that will forever say, well,
we did this wrong, we did that wrong. We're like, look,
we did the best we could considering the circumstances. That's it.
We did the best we did considering the circumstances, and
I'm going to give the NFL a better for the doubt.
They did the best they could, and in a situation
which we told you would not be equitable, which is

(07:26):
another word for fair, it was not gonna be fair
to everybody, did the best we could. Jay st You,
do you feel like the Bengals are being done so
wrong that they should that that there should be voiced
protests over this thing? Well, that's the thing. I think.
I think. I think they haven't. They have a gripe.
They have a very reasonable gripe in a in a vacuum.

(07:47):
They are kind of getting screwed in this whole deal.
They're the only team really that is um Roger good
doubt by the way, a few minutes ago. So we
believe this is a focused approach that would only affect
four teams and directly address up potential inequity of thirty
teams point seventeen games and two teams point sixteen games.
Um Rich McKay, the the NFL Competition Committee chair, says

(08:10):
there's no perfect equity result here, um, and he also
goes on to say that that we did the best
we could given the circumstances. What you're referring to is
Joe Mixon's tweet last night, which he retweeted the official
two thousand twenty two Policy Manual for Member clubs. This

(08:32):
this UH I guess, Part G says competitive policy for
canceled games. It says, quote, if a game is canceled
a team standing in its division or in its conference,
UM shall be determined on the basis of its final record.
When necessary, playoff tiebreakers shall shall be calculated according to

(08:56):
the per game average for all teams. In other words,
the Bengals are saying, just go by what's in the
policy manual and we would get a home field advantage
over the Ravens and the playoffs. UH. The new rules
specifically stipulate that it's going to be a coin foop
if it gets to that point, so they do have
a gripe. I think it's just the the gray area
here is UM at this point in time? Should you

(09:20):
be complaining about this? And I don't think so. I
think this is as you brought up. During COVID, we
learned a lot of this UH. Be be reasonable and
be able to adjust UH to catastrophic things. And tragedies.
Um so I don't. I don't think they should be griping,
but I'm not going to discount their their beef. Mm hmm.

(09:45):
I feel the exact same way like um, I would.
I do not believe it is fair, but I would
also tell you that life's not fair, you know, and
that how you adjust like you and use it as
all kinds of motivation. Zach Keyler can use this motivation
with his team. He man like what they're doing to

(10:06):
us again, even though there's no way they signal out
the Bengals and be like, well, you know, I love
well if this was the Cowboys, it would be like,
but it's not the Cowboys doing the best we possibly can.
And there's a lot of different things that play. There's
a lot of things to play. I mean, look, I
you also we understand that both teams are going to

(10:27):
lose the ability to generate a ton of revenue on
whatever if it's a neutral site game. You know, that's
that's the part that's that you haven't heard Kansas City
gripe and obviously Buffalo they they haven't griped, but the
the chance of losing a home game of that magnitude.
I think Buffalo frankly has hurt the worst, you know,

(10:48):
and Buffalo is not complaining because it was their player
that went down, and and I think they also know
now is not the time play. But if you're Buffalo,
where whether is a it's so unique and and it's
not like they're totally built for the weather, although you
know Josh Allen's arm strength and is abouity to create plays,
but their weather is so unique that, um, they have

(11:12):
every right to think. Man, if we had a home
game here, how many teams would shrivel over the side
of the snow and the wind and something that we
live in they would just be visiting in. But they
haven't said anything, and I think we all know why.
By the way, your your neutral site in Vegas is
a great idea. I'm all for everything Vegas. I would

(11:33):
just say this, if they do decide to do it, Uh,
give Southwest a heads up right now? You got you
have three weeks to get your ship in order because
we're gonna have a bunch of fans going into Vegas. Yeah,
I mean your other options are spirit, right, so you're
gonna spirit Allegiance. I mean this is where Allegion can

(11:56):
kill it right. And now the problem is Allegian does
that spirit thing where they up sell you and everything.
Oh what water that's ten dollars. You want to see
belt that's fifteen dolls whatever. But Allegiant could could swoop
in and body slam southwest because of Southwest or you know,
maybe it's actually easier to fly southwest because some people's
bags are still unclaimed to just say hey, something to

(12:17):
Vegas and get out the plane at at at Harry
Reid and uh and and and then you you still
got your clothes for for vacation. Be sure to catch
live editions of the Doug gott Leap Show weekdays at
three pm Eastern noon Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and
the I Heart Radio app. Bill Crackerburger joined this professional

(12:37):
sports better along with Jeff Schwartz Brian no. He co
hosts Fox Sports Radios Countdown to kick oppresented by bet
MGM every Sunday morning. Tune in Sunday morning, ten a
m Eastern and they will take you all the way
up to kick off on Fox Sports Radio the i
Heart Radio presented by bet m g m. Uh Bill,
let's let's let's let's start with the story of the day.

(12:58):
How does it affect futures with the news of the
potential for a neutral site a f C Championship game. Well,
you know, uh, Doug, it does affect some futures. And
just like the futures this week, how about the guys
that had over on Buffalo bill season wins are over
on the Bengals season wins and don't get paid because

(13:19):
they're not playing seventeen games. So the futures are all
screwed up for a lot of the sports books. Better yet,
I know someone that had that had under on the
Bangles and can't find the ticket. He thought he throw
it away, So like, like, what what do they do this?
This is really uh, it's really a quster of this
year compared to previous years. And and uh, you know,

(13:42):
the wise guys even don't know what's going on with
a lot. You know, you have to It depends on
what your sports books rules are, and it depends on
if you use your player cards sometimes too, sometimes they
can track your bets too, so people don't know that
sometimes even if you lose the ticket, as long as
you gave your player card, can get your money back.
All people to know that this year. UM, But some

(14:03):
unique situations you have this week, especially especially some really
good second half bets I think are gonna be this
will be the week that I really uh, I'm gonna
step out on some second half bets. You can actually
make them now in a place like bet MGM. You
can bet. You can actually bet right now second half
on any game you want. So there's some really unique

(14:26):
situations this week that I have thrown down a lot
of money on games. UH. For example, UM, I think
I think the Giants are going to I'm sorry, I
think I think the Giants after they obviously don't need
the game for anything. I think they're gonna play their
their guys. They're gonna be tough in the first half.
I think the bet against the Giants in the third quarter,

(14:47):
betting the Eagles in the third quarter can be a
really good bet, or better yet, betting the Eagles in
the second half. There's some unique situations like that across
UH football this week, and UH, I'll give you a couple. UM,
I have Washington plus three and a half in the
second half. I have Bears plus three and a half
second half. UM, I have some totals also I bet

(15:08):
some totals under. I think, uh, no one's gonna want
to get any anyone hurt or something. Second half. There's
some really good under situations in the second half this weekend. So, uh,
there's just some unique situations I think that that present
themselves here that have not done that all all season.
And I'll just tell you too, the must win teams historically,

(15:30):
if you bet against them, it's about six betting against
them because it's baked in the line. People just automatically think,
oh my god, they have to win. I gotta bet
that team. Well, that's the reason why the line seven
or nine or fourteen. We have some games here are
fourteen and a half this week. Boy, I I even
lean to even the Giants with fourteen and a half points,
even though they really don't need the game. But however,

(15:53):
I think, uh, you know, the balls up for a
coach of the year here. I think he's gonna play
his guys well into at least the second quarter, but
maybe even some of the guys in the second half.
So there's some must win teams here that I think
that you have some good value betting against them this week.
All right, Chief's Raiders Chiefs need to win for home
field advantage throughout um or for the potential for that

(16:17):
that that coin flip or whatever. UM. But that lat
number is eight and a half. And the Raiders, though
they've had a bad season, they've been very competitive and
ad letes that they've given up. I feel like I
love the Raiders. Am I wrong? No? Absolutely? This game
actually opened at ten, and you would think that the
public would bet. You know, Kansas City is one of
the most best teams in football, so you think they

(16:38):
would actually lay the points here opened up ten, nine
and a half and ten at some of the spots
around them. Looking around, the opening line looks like it's
around nine now, kind of the same line. I think
the Raiders are I'm not again, you know me all
season long, I've been preaching that on your show, not
laying the points, and this is really the year of
the underdog, underdogs of not I are more. I was

(17:01):
reading this last week nine or more points. I've only
lost twice this year, so um, probably a good bet
here on the Raiders. That's gonna be my Saturday bet. Also,
I would tend to agree there. Uh Doug gotlib show
here on Fox Sports. Trader Bill Crackenberger joined his professional
sports gambler. Um, okay, let me just kind of keep
working down some of these some of these games that

(17:22):
teams have to have to win. Uh, Patriots taken on
the Bills. Now, the Bills, we don't know their emotional state,
although right now it feels like it's much better as
they had a FaceTime session with uh with Hamblin, who
of course went down and and we all waited for
good news. We've finally gotten it. We don't know. And
then you have the Patriots, who, uh, well, they absolutely

(17:44):
have to win the game on the road in Buffalo.
The line is seven and a hook. Yep, this line
opened up a ten, also ten, nine and a half ten.
Even one book opened up eleven. And now it sounds
like seven and a half seven. This is probably a
game I'm going to stay away from because of what
you just said. I don't know the mindset of the

(18:05):
Buffalo Bills. I would think they want to come out
and say, hey, we're gonna play this one for Hamlin.
He's great, he's talking to the team now, he's actually
pumping them up a little bit in the locker room
on the practice field. But then again, the Patriots. Also,
we're gonna be this is an old school, you know,
division rival game. Also here that the that the Wine
was playing. It's not not the division, but this is

(18:25):
an old school rival game here. I'm staying away from
this game for the reasons that we just talked about.
I don't know. I don't know if they're gonna come
out and just come out and wanted to destroy them
and play the game, uh and dedicate to the game
to Hamlin or the gonna just gonna cruise there and
get their win. Doesn't matter a boy? How many? Okay?
The the other team involved in Monday Night is since

(18:48):
Andy Bengals. They take on the Baltimore Ravens. And with
the Baltimore Ravens, you know you have you have um uh,
you have the quarterback situation where Ta Huntley has has
tennannitis in his shoulder. That number is pretty large. Who
do you like? Yeah, Lamar. Then they're saying that's not
gonna play. You know, there was a good Uh. I'm

(19:10):
actually on the East coast. I'm Atlantic City now, but
I'm flying to Cincinnati tomorrow. And what our show is
going to be on on Sunday morning and we're all
gonna go to that Cincinnati the Bengal game and uh
countdown the kickoff, it's ten am, ten to one on
on Sunday. We're gonna we're gonna go to that game.
We were really hoping it was going to be the
night game, you know for the Division, the prime time football.

(19:33):
But the game, obviously I think it was with the
Lion game got flexed in Lions and Green Bay game
got in there. But this game is a is another
game that I was in a C the other day.
I was betting this game the other day in a C.
It was actually a really good bet Cincinnati money line.
You can made a Marley bet money line Cincinnati to

(19:53):
money line Denver. And the reason why because it's obviously
Cincinnati supposed to win the game. Well then the uh
you know, be a situation there where Denver was going
to flip around as the favorite. Unfortunately, Denver flipped around
as the favorite. Already they were getting two points the
day I bet them. Now there you know, the money
line was actually plus one thirty five. Now they're actually

(20:14):
the favorite on the on the money line, they're at
three point favorite. Now, so what do I like? I'm
I'm rooting for my for the Bengals to win, just
win the game so I can win my money line parlay.
It's kind of like a correlation parlay there. And uh yeah,
I think I think the Bengals will be okay though,
But I wouldn't want to be laying those points though.
I'm not. I'm not. I'm not in the laying nine
and a half and ten points with anyone, even a

(20:36):
home team. But um, you know, I'm surprised that the
Bengals futures are what they are. I just seeing the
Bengal footure Bengals nine to one to win the Super Bowl.
I'm actually surprised still that high. I don't think Billy
Bentman to the future pools because the juice is so high.
There's so much of a takeout in that in that
type of pool. But I was pretty surprised to see
the Bengals. Um, who would really the second half of

(20:58):
the season, they've been playing pretty good, um, and I'm
I thought they would be like one of the clear
cut choices. I know one thing I've seen I looked
this morning. I can't leave free fifty plus three fifty
on the Chiefs plus three fifty on UM in Kansas
City and five to one the Eagles. I can't take
that low of odds in this year, in the in
the year of parody in the NFL. I look for

(21:21):
someone like the Bengals at nine to one to be
a nice little long shot outside shot. Um, okay, let's
let's let's let's keep going with this kind of same
idea of teams that need to win. Um, here's one
Pittsburgh and Cleveland Steelers survived the Ravens, and um, you
know you got a chance for Mike tom And to
have once again a winning record. They're taking on the Browns.

(21:43):
Any lean in that game. Game opened up but one
and it's actually still about one and a half, two,
two and a half. Um. I had to listen. Everyone
was going to be high on on Cleveland. The quarterback
came back, did not show us much at all. So
kind of upset about that, even myself. I got sucked
in for a couple of Cleveland games even though they
did they did win last week, but um, you know

(22:03):
you can they have look aheadlines about MGM. All the
sports books have look aheadlines. I was looking forward to
Cleveland having a better season here and that's not happening here.
This weekend is the week you know, this is an
old division rival or Pittsburgh Cleveland. I don't have a
play on this game. I'm sure I'll have some prof bets.
You know, I didn't get into this yet on your
on your show, this conversation. I'm don't let people do

(22:24):
their own homework here. All you gotta do is Google
find out what the player incentives are. Like last year,
Brady had an incentive with Gronk. Bron needed two catches
together half a million bucks or something like that. He
made sure he got four. I'm started with four catches.
He made sure that Gronk got those four catches. There's
about nine unique situations this week, same exact thing. Incentives

(22:48):
for guys to get catches, incentives for guys to get yards,
and uh, it's a lot of money to them, and
and and then the quarterbacks. No, and these teams kind
of work for each other to help each other out.
There's some good incentives, uh, this weekend in the NFL. Guys,
make sure you check out the props and just google incentives.
There's like nine er actually a little bit more about
some of the players put up defensive props if you

(23:09):
want to add them, there's eleven or twelve with so
many tackles, so many sacks, and you want to look
into that because that's a good way to bet. NFL props.
Usually Week eight teams the number one week for proper
weeks beside the super Bowl. Week eighteen. I had no idea.
I had no idea about that one must win game
for the Packers. They're taking on the Lions at home.

(23:30):
This number continues to go up. It's I'm looking at
it at five. What do you think Packers Lions. Lions
team that beat the Packers picked off Aaron Rodgers three times,
but that was much earlier in the season. We have
hit on the game that I hope you hit on
this Green Bay Packer Detroit Lion game. It's going to
be the eight pm Eastern Eastern game. Here, uh primetime game.

(23:53):
I am looking at the Lions in this game. I
have heard some reports from one of the beat reporters
there that talks to a lot of the guys in
a Lions they're gonna be playing, They're gonna be playing
like it's their super Bowl. So um, they they love
to be this play. The spoiler role to and you
know there's an outside chance of of they can get
they can actually get in with some weird scenarios. But um,

(24:15):
they're gonna be playing hard though, even if they don't
need the game against against green Bay here and uh,
I like, I like Detroit in this game. I I'd
love to see it go to six, which I'm it
could go there if the scenario uh comes around there,
it could go up that high that primetime game, everyone
thinking green Bay. I like the points in this game though,

(24:36):
I'm gonna go with the Lions in this game. This
is this will be one of the only really sides
that I bet of the year a decent amount of money.
Besides my parlay this week, I'm gonna be going with
the Lions this weekend in real quick, give me that
part lay this week. The farley I bet was Cincinnati
money line with the Denver Broncos money line. I know
it's hard to trust Denver in a situation there, and
you know, Wilson's look a little bit a little bit

(24:58):
better lately, but I I just think it's kind of
correlated there that the charges arrest some players, and I
think we have a good situation for a money line
partly there, but um, some other ones, Like I said,
peanup playing on the Giants. Maybe even Arizona did some
ugly I know it's an ugly team, Arizona, but fourteen
and it has too much for anyone in the NFL.
And uh, of course I'm saying the Lions game, maybe

(25:19):
you can, guys, you can wait for the six in
that game. That will be good. But I like the Lions.
Bill Crackenberg Yetta. Check him out on Fox Sports Radio's
Countdown to kick Off, UH and Uh. It's co hosted
by Jeff Schwartz and Brian no It's presented by Ben MGM.
Every Sunday morning, ten am Eastern Time. Takes you right
up to kick up. Bill, Happy New Year and good luck. Thanks,

(25:43):
Happy New Year, take care of Be sure to catch
live editions of the Doug gott Leap Show weekdays at
three pm Eastern noon Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and
the I Heart Radio app. Let's get to what the
Fox said and now say. This is Dan Patrick talking
about Josh McDaniels and Tom Brady. So I reached out

(26:03):
to somebody yesterday and I said, does it make sense
that if Tom Brady wants to play next year? Would
he play for the rate you know, Las Vegas Raiders?
And and my source said, it's not a given that
Josh McDaniels would want Tom Brady. He might want Jimmy G.
And I went, why, well you get Jimmy G. And

(26:27):
and I think Josh is on record that, uh, he
really liked Jimmy G when he was there in New
England as the offensive coordinator and may have been pushing
for Jimmy G to be the starting quarterback as they
were going to push Tom out. And I wondered what
the relationship is with Tom Brady and Josh McDaniels, whereas
Jimmy G and Josh McDaniels and Jimmy G is going

(26:51):
to be available. And I would keep an eye on
that because you know what, the Patriots never signed somebody
so they retire a Patriot in a Patriot uniform. I mean,
they pushed everybody out, and then they did that to
Tom Brady. You know, I know there's scenarios where somebody says, oh,
he could go back to New England. I don't know

(27:12):
if that's possible or why you would do that, but
I guess it is you know, on the table. But
is there a falling out between Tom Brady and Josh
McDaniels that happened in New England and happened because of
Jimmy G and that Jimmy G would be more likely
to be the quarterback for the Raiders next year than
Tom Brady. Um, maybe, maybe, but I I think that

(27:38):
there's Jimmy G was not the Jimmy G he was
when he was with the Patriots and not neither is
Tom Brady on some level. But the reality to it,
the absolute reality to it, is that Stidham is there,
and I'm not sure that Stidham isn't there Jimmy G.

(27:58):
And he doesn't want stid him ultimately to take over
four Tom Brady after Tom Brady retires, assuming it would
be one more year, It's gonna be a fascinating, fascinating
off season as it has been since the pandemic when
Brady originally started this NBA like off season. This is uh,
Colin Cowhard talking about Aaron Rodgers. So Aaron Rodgers talked

(28:21):
retirement again yesterday, said I don't know if I'm gonna play.
My future is uncertain. So Aaron's always been one of
the headier quarterbacks. He's playing chess, not checkers here, right.
It's pretty smart guy Farvan Aaron Rodgers are not the
same person, but they're becoming the same green Bay quarterback.
And I've always called this the Green Bay Packer quarterback syndrome.

(28:41):
So the only franchise with no owner, so there's nobody
to rein you in. You are the most powerful person
in the organization in green Bay, duck quarterback runs the franchise.
So I do believe this weekend that if Aaron and
the Packers lost and don't make the playoffs, or they
get in and then get eliminated quickly, I do believe

(29:01):
they will strongly consider getting a first round picker two
for Aaron Rodgers and rolling the dice with Jordan's love.
They moved up to get him. It looks like a
total blown pick if you don't play him, and gms
like to play their picks, especially the first round picks
they moved up. If Aaron keeps mentioning, I don't know
if I'm gonna play. The team that gets him doesn't

(29:25):
have to give up many picks. Tennessee's the team I
put out there. Aaron smart Titans could give up lass.
You think Mike Vrabel thinks today he's gonna win the
a f C. Burrow, Alan Moms Herbert, but Tannehill gotta
have a gun slinger. The problem with it is the contract,
you know. That's the problem with it. Is you just

(29:48):
the cap hit his thirty one million dollars. The dead
cap money is nine nine point seven eight million dollars.
And when you trade a guy, that doesn't actually go away,
so not all of it goes away off the off
the dead cap. I I don't. I don't see it.
A team that has managed the cap as well as
they can and they've gotten better. I don't. I'm gonna

(30:12):
disagree with Colin. I don't know why. Why would you
go there? Why would you go to the a f C?
Doesn't that isn't Who are you gonna throw too there?
He didn't have anybody to throw too to Green Bay
until they got these young wide receivers Derrick Henry, who's good,
very good. But you have a good running you have
two good running backs. I don't see that one. I
think he stays. I think this is Aaron drawing attention

(30:32):
to Aaron, as Aaron likes to do. This is Craig
Carton on the show called Carton On Lamar Jackson. So
I look out saying, why would the Baltimore Ravens allow
this to get so sour? And I do think he
was legitimately hurt. I don't think they invented an injury.
The guy got hurt. And I think that he has
looked around the league. He sees her Russell Wilson makes it.

(30:54):
He's what DeShawn Watson makes, you know, and on and
on and on, and he sees their production compared is productive.
I'm better than that, right, I'm an m v P.
I'm good enough to take this team, at least in
my opinion, to a Super Bowl, and I believe that
he is. And yet they're reluctant to pay me. Accordingly
to a quarterback's franchise, quarterbacks are now getting in the NFL,

(31:16):
and I don't understand it for the life of me.
I really don't. And I think that's exactly what's going
on here. Now they have the right to franchise, and
so they still kind of basically I think, I think
he gets franchise and he gets traded. I think he
will be the number one get for every team out there,
like the Jets, that is in the market for a
franchise quarterback. It's it's gonna be fascinating to see what

(31:41):
happens to Lamar. Truly gonna be fascinating to see what
happens to Lamar. And I generally agree with this with
with Craig in that I've never said he didn't get hurt.
I do just wonder his energy for coming back and
could he play this weekend. I think he plays in
the playoffs, like Lamar Jackson wants to. Winning playoff games
is the only thing that changes his legacy and how

(32:03):
he's looked, how he's looked at. But I also think
that there's this there's a pull for him to demand
a trade because he's not getting it there and will
there be another Cleveland Browns out there. Remember, you can't
make that trade unless you have the cap space and
the capital and the desire to give him a five year,
guaranteed contract. There are very few teams that will do it.

(32:25):
The Jets would be one of them, but that's out
of their desperation for a quarterback. And I'm not I
I don't believe you go to a place out of desperation.
Look at what's happened in Cleveland. Even if this was
expected to be a fairly lost season, it's worse than
you could have imagined. That's what the Fox said, say
time for a little day. We call you're annoying, and

(32:48):
now it's your annoying j Ston what he got for me.
Let's see this the Hall of Fame process that speak gone.
They announced the I guess that not even they announced
who is up for the Hall of Fame. Durell Rivas
is a new guy, um and a couple other deserving candidates.

(33:11):
But my my problem is people are annoying uh for
considering guys years after they've kind of come and gone
on this process. And I go back to maybe one
of the smartest things that we heard in in in
which was Dion Sanders saying, the more schleps you let

(33:31):
into the Hall of Fame, the more you need like
a top level floor for the real Hall of famers.
And I totally agreed with him. So the annoying people
are like the people going through this process and the
people that are voting on this process and trying to
consider guys that could you know, really deserve to get
in that have been overlooked. Look, if you've ever been

(33:52):
overlooked for the Hall of Fame, you're not in the
Hall of Fame. Uh So that's what's annoying to me.
People that are actually considering others that haven't gotten in.
There are maybe good guys that should deserve to get in.
I mean, I agree, it's not the Hall of good.
It's a hall of great the Hall of fame, and
we we do let to way too many dudes in.
You know, it should be basically a one or maybe

(34:15):
two time ballot process. Yes, that's it, right, It's it's
the the It's like the book Snap. Whatever your first
thought was, that's what it should generally be. Um, you
had someone Stephen A. Smith as well, didn't you. I did.
I've been holding this couple of days. He said this
about the Skip Bayless tweet from earlier in the week.
I'm not about to judge Skip Bayless or anybody else

(34:39):
for saying the world that God knows I have intent matters. Yes,
you've got to be sensitive out theater. Mental health matters,
life matters, human beings, well being matters, and when you speak,
you have to make sure that you're sensitive to everything
that you can be sensitive to in our tticulating your position.

(35:01):
Skip can defend himself. I've spent years disagreeing with Skip Bayless.
I disagree with him now and I'm going to disagree
with him into the future. But he's still my brother.
He's still a guy that brought me here on first take,
and I know who he is, I know what he's about.
Do I agree with everything he says or how he

(35:24):
says it, or the timing with which he uses the
same things. No, But the flip side to it is
that I know that buying lodge as hard as in
the right place, and you know, people make mistakes. You know,
stephen A goes full guns blazing on people for much
less crimes like in this situation, I would have left

(35:45):
for him to be a little harder on the guy,
no matter how much he brought you into the business
and gave you your job and all that qualification. Stephen A,
to me, it's a double standard here. I think that
he has just opened up the guns for years on
guys that haven't really even deserved it, but just to
be stephen A and over the top, and for whatever

(36:05):
reason he chose to be measured uh and reasonable with
Skip Bayless. To me, that's annoying. Um, I mean I
I actually liked the take of stephen A and I
agree with you at the same time. Um, I think here,
here's here's the difference. Okay, I obviously blasted Skip. I didn't.

(36:27):
It wasn't he just he kind quite obviously didn't read
the room. Now I'm not a cancel Skip Bayless guy. Yeah,
and I think we we stayed at people picked up
on this pod when I talked about Skip and about
how I I mean it's it was just kind of laughable,
the idea that nobody had a problem with it. You know,
My issue isn't that the tweet is so bad he's

(36:50):
got to get fired. I'm just not because, like stephen A,
I've had tweets where I've lacked the right tone, empathy, timing, whatever. Um,
it's the defiance of it that no, no, no, no, no,
you guys don't get no. We all get it, we
all understand, and you tried to clean it up several
times over. It's just really really wrong time and got

(37:15):
raked over the coals for it. I do think that
some people's venom comes from the fact that they're either
jealous of him, or they're just annoyed by him and
they think he's had bullshit takes. I also called bs
because he acted like no one thought it was a
big deal. Then all of a sudden he does a
one eight in Lebron James, Like, if you're going to
be the I'm the honest guy, be honest all the time.
You can't be honest only about certain things. But yeah,

(37:37):
it is kind of annoying that Stephen a a guy
who blasts a guy. Well, we're friends and we worked
together and maybe I want to work together again and
he helped me out once. It's you can say all
of those things and then say this was a this
was a terrible take. It's horrible the timing. You know,
you can the same things you you always say, Um,

(37:57):
I'm gonna go with the Pro Football Hall of Fame
ballot process. Letting guys enter just really good. We've hung
around for a while, that's all right, that's it. Have
a great weekend. Uh more than the Doug Outlive Show Monday.
