Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, listen, this is the Doug Gottlieb Show. Heres
in the Bonus with Doug gottli.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
What Up Doug Gottlieb Show and the Bonus Fox Sports
Radio iHeartRadio app Welcome in, Okay. So if it's your
first time listening to the ind the Bonus podcast, you'll
know that basically, and as it plays out on the
on the iHeart Podcast network is this becomes what the
(00:33):
first hour, even though we do it the last hour,
all right, So when you download, you hear this first,
then you hear the rest of the radio show. So
basically this is like an hour radio show, only we
can say and do whatever we want and we don't
have to take traditional breaks and it's a little bit
(00:54):
more free flowing. We do have something called what the
Fox Says, which is basically we play for you clips
really of the day on either Fox Sports Tradio or
Fox Sports One, then I comment on it. We have
some other cool stuff we do, like You're Annoying, where
Jason Stewart, who is annoyed by many, finds only a
couple to be annoyed by the in On a daily basis,
(01:15):
we try and determine who's the most annoying person in
sports on Earth. And then we have something called because
we Can, where we play for you usually an audio
clip of somebody cursing many times with other innuendo, and
we can do it unedited because it's a podcast, So
we call it because we can. So that's a and
(01:35):
we have really good stuff today. Let's get to what
the Fox says and now say every day at this
time on the Doug Gottlieb Show in the Bonus podcast,
we play for you a previous show on Fox Sports
Tradio or Fox Sports One. We call it, what does
(01:56):
the Fox say? See what we did there with the
five Oh yeah, Oh.
Speaker 3 (01:59):
You're so clever.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
Here's Colin callaher talking about Lamar Jackson.
Speaker 4 (02:02):
Lamar Jackson is twenty and one. That doesn't even make
sense against the NFC. And I mean he's blown the
doors off teams like Good Detroit, San Francisco. He's twenty
and one against the NFC. Why Because if you don't
face Lamar Jackson regularly, it's like growing up in San
Diego and trying to drive on ice. You can read
(02:23):
a manual, it's not gonna work. You gotta be on
ice driving on that ice in Milwaukee, in Minnesota for
years to figure it out. That hyper speed is like
nothing we've seen. It's like Michael Vick, but way faster,
way twitchier. It's like being a parent. Your grandparents give
your heads up, your neighbors, your friends. Yet doctor Spock
didn't give your.
Speaker 3 (02:42):
Heads up on the smells of it.
Speaker 4 (02:45):
And so if you've never faced Lamar or faced him infrequently,
there's nothing like him. You have nobody on your roster
to duplicate him. But if you face him regularly, I
had a GM telling me this year's ago, you get
him a second time in a season, and Steve spag
no one now faces on on a fairly regular basis.
You can have game plan for him, but you couldn't
game plan for Brady, and you can't game plan for
(03:07):
Mahomes because what makes Brady and Mahomes so brilliant. You
took away the deep ball from Mahomes. He's like, okay,
death by a thousand cuts. You took away Randy Moss
from Brady. Okay, it's death by a thousand cuts.
Speaker 2 (03:22):
Yeah, Patrick Mahonmes is better than Lamar Jackson. I'm not
really sure if we needed a long dissertation on it.
But this stat was amazing on what he does versus
NSC teams. Here's Dan Patrick talking about Pat Mahomes.
Speaker 5 (03:32):
When you look at what Mahomes did, now, I know
he's on his own plateau, his own tier, but he
didn't play great last year until he really needed to
play great. But this was you know, you had Rashid Rice,
Isaiah Pacheco. It felt like they had guys they were
depending on that you wouldn't normally depend on. And Kelsey
(03:53):
was wonderful when he needed to be. But that was
really a defensive effort by Kansas City last year. That
was what was amazing. Like we give Mahomes credit for
winning back to back titles, but it's real. It's almost
like it was that defense and then Mahomes after that,
not the other way around. And normally we lead with
the quarterback and they say, yeah, he led them to
(04:14):
a championship. He knows how to close a game, and
that to me is invaluable. It's valuable, but trying to
find that where you go that guy knows how to
close out a game. Brady knew how to close out
a game. How many quarterbacks in history know how to
close out a game, and that's the difference. That's the
(04:34):
difference between being great and an all time great.
Speaker 2 (04:38):
I completely agree. It's also called competitive greatness, right, being
great when greatness.
Speaker 3 (04:43):
Is called upon.
Speaker 2 (04:44):
Now, it's one of those things. And we talked about
this in the radio show some it's like all of
this other stuff is fun at the end of the day.
Can anybody actually stop pat mahomes when it matters and
that we don't have an answer for it, and we
won't have an answer for it for months, truly.
Speaker 1 (04:56):
Won't be sure to catch live editions of The Doug
Gottlieb Show weekdays at three pm Eastern noon Pacific on
Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 2 (05:07):
Here's two Pros and a Cup of Joe talking about
the reported breakup agreement, which the PR teams have said
is false, between Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift.
Speaker 3 (05:17):
You guys are talking about it in the past, tense,
like it's over. They're in love. She's going to be
there Thursday. Why are they engaged yet? Then?
Speaker 6 (05:23):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (05:23):
Why are they engaged?
Speaker 6 (05:24):
Why are we talking about a breakup date instead of
a marriage date?
Speaker 7 (05:27):
How long were you, guys with your significant others before
you proposed.
Speaker 3 (05:31):
That's very personal.
Speaker 8 (05:33):
It's not.
Speaker 3 (05:33):
I'll say it. It was a long time, but I
was also long distance. It makes a little harder. You know,
you don't travel Jonas.
Speaker 8 (05:38):
How long were you with you?
Speaker 3 (05:39):
What are you talking about? You know how long the
drive is in my truck to Tijuana? How long?
Speaker 7 (05:46):
Okay, that's not even so, that's so disrespectful. All right,
it was a significant amount of time I.
Speaker 3 (05:56):
Was coming with I was coming with a dart for you.
But you just stop, yeah myself, let me help you
out there. Hit long ass time.
Speaker 7 (06:09):
Yeah, well, you know, rant into some uh you know,
a couple of breaks here and there.
Speaker 3 (06:15):
You know, I was engaged in three months, really married after.
Speaker 5 (06:22):
A year.
Speaker 2 (06:25):
Yeah, I don't. I don't think comparing your own how
long we're engaged when you're dating a fucking billionaire, right,
there's a little bit more to it than that. So
I've never understood. Also, people like you don't have to
impose your thoughts and desires on marriage or whatever on
anybody else. I don't know, they're a couple, they seem happy.
(06:49):
I you know, I don't believe for a second this
bullshit pr thing. But I also don't believe in like
pressuring somebody to get married. This reality to it. That's
what the box said.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
I'd say, be sure to catch live editions of The
Doug Gottlieb Show weekdays at three pm Eastern noon Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 2 (07:12):
Let's find out who What's annoying Jason Stewart.
Speaker 1 (07:17):
And now it's your annoying.
Speaker 3 (07:24):
Jayce?
Speaker 2 (07:24):
Do lots of things annoy you? What's annoying you? Specifically?
Speaker 6 (07:27):
Today, UH DirecTV we had we had a very inspired,
i would say, a great radio conversation on Monday as
we filled in for Dan Patrick, and the crux of
the conversation was DirecTV has balls to leverage UH Disney
(07:48):
and by extension, their viewers to play this negotiation game
in public. Because the future is streaming, the future is
YouTube TV. And if you're a satellite or cable company
to play games with a company like Disney that has
a lot of followers and viewers, your closure to extinction
(08:14):
than you are profit. DirecTV has no right, as they
did yesterday staying that they are willing to play the
long game with this negotiation with Disney. In other words,
if you're a DirecTV subscriber, right now. You're probably not
going to have ESPN for any time in the near future,
which means that you should probably do what you should
(08:38):
have done a couple of years ago and cut the
cord or cut the satellite dish whatever the term is.
DirecTV you're annoying for not having more self awareness.
Speaker 2 (08:50):
Yeah, I think it is annoying that you've got to
understandhere you are in linds Now. In fairness, DirecTV you
can stream it, right, I believe you can stream it.
You don't need the hard wire for it. But yeah,
not understanding that there's another place where people can go
and get the same events and sometimes less money, especially
now without you having the Sunday ticket, it sucks. On
(09:12):
the other hand, there is something too sticking to your guns, right,
But I get why DirecTV annoys you. Who else annoys you?
Speaker 6 (09:20):
My favorite character of the summer in sports was Raygun,
Australian breakdancer Y Gun. She did an interview today on
I think Australian TV and it was a bitch session
about all the negativity that she got for bastardizing her
already bastardized sport of breakdancing in the Olympic Games.
Speaker 3 (09:44):
This was one of the cuts.
Speaker 9 (09:46):
It was really sad how much hate that it did evoke,
and a lot of the responses though, is also just
due to people not being very familiar with breaking and
the diversity of approaches in breaking. And it was so
fantastic that the next day the judging chair MG came
(10:07):
out and explained that, you know, in the breaking community,
what I did actually wasn't very shocking, but of course
there's been a portion of very angry and you know,
awful responses. The energy and vitriol that people had was
pretty alarming.
Speaker 6 (10:25):
So just when you think that she just has like
a lack of awareness and maybe she thinks that she's
a much bigger deal in her sport's a much bigger
deal in the world, and her bitching had ended, she continued.
Speaker 9 (10:38):
I am very sorry for, you know, the backlash that
the community has experienced, but I can't control how people react. Unfortunately,
we just need some more resources in Australia for us
to have a chance to beat world champions. But in
the last year I have trained my hardest. I've trained
(11:00):
so hard. Learning power moves in your mid thirties is
not easy.
Speaker 3 (11:04):
Let's just say that.
Speaker 9 (11:06):
So I have really, you know, put my body through it,
put my mind through it. But if that's not good
enough for someone, what can I say?
Speaker 6 (11:15):
So, just when you thought that, there's somebody who takes
yourself far too serious and no one knows what the
hell you're talking about when you talk about your craft,
she continued to bitch.
Speaker 3 (11:25):
I think my record speaks to that.
Speaker 9 (11:28):
You know, I was the top ranked Australian B girl
in twenty twenty and twenty twenty two and twenty twenty three.
I've been invited to represent at how many World Championships Paris, Korea?
You know, so the record is there. But anything can
happen in a battle.
Speaker 6 (11:50):
Anything can happen on a battle, Doug. Wow, they need
just need more resources in Australia for breaking more resource.
Speaker 2 (11:57):
We just need more resources.
Speaker 8 (11:58):
What are the resources? Cardboard boxes and boomboxes.
Speaker 2 (12:02):
Yes, like people with the ability to move their hips.
Speaker 8 (12:09):
Like yoga sessions.
Speaker 2 (12:11):
Maybe yeah, they could work.
Speaker 8 (12:13):
Flat cardboard boxes.
Speaker 2 (12:15):
It's not a terrible these aren't terrible things. We could
send all of our cardboard boxes after we move directly
to them in Australia. You know how many times you
got done moving and you're like, what do I do
with all these cardboard boxes? Apparently Australia is the pop
r answer. Didn't know that.
Speaker 6 (12:32):
It's it's good. I think it's great proof that like
ego exists in any skill, like every space of the world,
somebody has a massive ego that can't can't see outside
of that. And ray Gun from Australia is that.
Speaker 2 (12:49):
So that's an all timer. I actually want to listen
to that again. It's so fucking it's so far afield
from reality. Here one more time in case you one
more time, but her talking about the resources and things
that they actually need.
Speaker 9 (13:04):
I am very sorry for, you know, the backlash that
the community has experienced, but I can't control how people react. Unfortunately,
we just need some more resources in Australia for us
to have a chance to be world champions. But in
the last year I have trained my hardest. I have
(13:26):
trained so hard, learning power moves in your mid thirties
is not easy to say that. So I have really,
you know, put my body through it, put my mind
through it. But if that's not good enough for someone,
what can I say?
Speaker 2 (13:43):
She's worked that hard, she's put herself through it. My
thing is if she was the number one rank. Granted
it was four years ago in twenty twenty. How bad
is somebody else who's not her?
Speaker 6 (13:56):
Right?
Speaker 8 (13:57):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (13:57):
I mean, oh my gosh. I would argue that nobody breakdances,
so the very few people that still do are going
to be Olympians. You know, this isn't This isn't basketball
where you have an international game of millions of of
of player pool to choose from. This is I think
three people in Australia breakdanced, and supposedly she used some
(14:21):
kind of leverage with knowing knowing the Olympic committee or
something to get into it. That that reminds me, Doug,
because you just said that that's an all timer. I
think that's like the the you're annoying of all time
is Ray Gunn. I need to draw attention to something
and this this might this might sound self serving, but
(14:42):
it isn't. The Twitter handle listener to this podcast, Real
Living JM, Real Living JM. He his first name is Jaythan.
He sent a he sent this really nice tweet to
me yesterday. The tweet says, I normally don't tweet much,
(15:04):
but I gotta say I absolutely love your views, opinions
and insight whenever you share on the DG Show, especially
in the bonus, with your annoying You're under the radar
humor is truly appreciated by me. So thank you, first
of all, Jathan, you have great taste. Secondly to the
(15:25):
backlash that I got when I reposted this, the backlash
with the undercurrent of the assumption that this is my
ghost account, that this is my burner account. Do you
really think that if I had a Burner account to
send myself compliments, that I would name the Burner account Jathan.
(15:48):
You don't think that I would be a little bit
more creative with my Burner account name.
Speaker 2 (15:52):
I don't. I actually think you would do that just
to mess with this.
Speaker 6 (15:56):
Jathan Tewart is Jathan's full name. It kind of reminds
me of.
Speaker 8 (16:02):
It's like a little kid trying to say your name.
It's like a list.
Speaker 6 (16:07):
SETH McFarland when he read it Star Wars that that's
my favorite scene when Luke is like Kenoby.
Speaker 8 (16:13):
I wonder if I wonder if it's old Ben Canobe.
Speaker 6 (16:17):
It's like, if you're you're hiding from Darth Vader, He's
gonna find you at any corner of the galaxy. But
you don't change your last name Obi wan Kenoby, nobody
will think it's Ben Kenoby. Uh So, the people that
are to me of the Burner, he.
Speaker 2 (16:36):
Just do the the the Jedi mind trick. These aren't
the droids you're looking for, oh man. Uh the's aren't
the droids you're looking for.
Speaker 8 (16:46):
These aren't the droids we're looking for?
Speaker 6 (16:48):
All right? So ray Gun takes it today.
Speaker 2 (16:52):
Completely takes it. No question, ray Gun, why are.
Speaker 3 (17:00):
We doing this?
Speaker 8 (17:04):
Because we can?
Speaker 6 (17:07):
So we could also call this this segment decoding Patrick Beverly.
So he cusses in this, so it serves a segment.
But Doug, the challenge I have for you, I need
you to you to tell me what the fuck Patrick
Beverly says. I need to need to tell me what
his point is is Patrick Beverly on his podcast. Now
keep this in mind, he's playing overseas. Is it Israel
(17:30):
or it's Yeah.
Speaker 10 (17:33):
I know how Lebron feels. I leave games and the
guys that I play against won't pictures, and the coaches
that I play against won't pictures, and the fans that
I go against that boo me I leave out, and
it's thirty kids outside and they all want pictures, and
this is every country we go to, Like today was
a friendly day, friendly game and Bill Gray and I
(17:55):
think I took fifty pictures today. What I'm doing, you know,
is appreciated. But you know, it's to like have kids
and to have you know, other players and have other
coaches from the competing teams, to be that yo, Pat
And I'm sorry, Bro, I need you to just fucking
pick bro, I say less. It's been a vibe. It's
been a vibe. I know how Lebron feels now seriously.
Speaker 2 (18:21):
Mm, yeah, it's not really close. It is cool, right,
it's cool. Do you go from a guy who you know,
the only people know you're from is a podcast and
you're a big talker too. Now you're kind of the
big deal. He has been struggling apparently playing with Hapoel Jerusalem.
But yeah, I mean, it's one of the things about
going to Europe, especially when honestly you're black. There's places
(18:42):
who go that they don't interact with a lot of
former black former NBA players. They just don't. So it
does give you a little taste of what it's like
to be a superstar. But let's be honest, it's nowhere
near the level of Lebron James. Uh So what do
we have? We have those are the choices anybody else? Well,
(19:02):
that is because we can, right, Why can we play
that for you? Well? One, because Patrick Beverley thinks a
little bit higher of himself than everybody else. In two,
because we can. That's it for the end of the
Bonus Podcast. Check out the radio show every day twelve
to two West Coast time, three to five Eastern Time.
I'm Doug Gottlieb. This is in the Bonus
