Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, this is the Doug Gottlieb Show.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Here's in the Bonus with Doug Gottlieb.

Speaker 3 (00:10):
Doug Gottlieb Show. In the Bonus Fox Sports Radio, iHeart
Radio App. Hey, welcome in. Oh, how are you? What's
going on? How's your day? This is the Doug Gottlieb Show.
It's Fox Sports Radio, iHeartRadio App. Welcome in. Let's get

(00:33):
to the Foxes and now every day at this time
in the bonus podcast, we play for your portion of
previous show Fox Sports Radio, Fox Sports One. We call
it what does the Fox Say? Here's Brady Quinn and
Lebar Arrington reacting to the in real time to the
Cowboys trading for George Pickens.

Speaker 4 (00:52):
This makes a lot of sense. You mentioned that, you
know they did this last year and training for Mingo.
I don't know that they got what they were hoping
for out of Jonathaningo, but you add Pickens alongside Ceedee
Lamb and that's quite the tandem. So I think they've
got they've got what they're looking for. Look, they didn't
spent a draft pick on a wide receiver in this
year's draft, and that maybe led to some signs that

(01:15):
there was something in the works or that they were
going to address it in some capacity. We knew this
was a potential issue, not just because of how last
season ended for Pittsburgh, but also when you bring in
DK Metcalf, there's probably a thought that, well, George Pickens
can't be excited about having to share the ball or
maybe being the number two receiver to DK Metcalf and

(01:37):
some of their other options there in Pittsburgh with that trade.
So it makes a lot of sense from you know,
trying to get an extension how things have maybe gone
there in Pittsburgh so far, but also the need of
the Dallas Cowboys. So look at Jerry Man, a man
of his word. We gotta we gotta trust him with it.

Speaker 5 (01:55):
It certainly will be must CETV because Cede Lamb does
not like when he does not get the ball. And
by what we've seen out of how George Pickens handles things,
Like I said, I never met a receiver that wasn't
always open, and I never met a receiver that got

(02:17):
enough balls.

Speaker 3 (02:19):
Paused, Uh, yeah, look, I think it's fascinating. You know,
look a look at me, Give me the ball, wide receiver.
I'm better than anybody else on the Dallas Cowboys just
seems to track and a guy who is never happy
in Pittsburgh and seemed to be somebody who just couldn't

(02:41):
be pleased within their offense. That tracks the Pittsburgh putting
culture over talent. How it works out for both, I
don't know, but I do think that it was pretty
obvious that they were trying to move him. They just
couldn't find anybody that would take him, and the Cowboys
are a perfect tone.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Doug Gottliebs
weekdays at three pm Eastern noon Pacific on Fox Sports
Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 3 (03:07):
Here's Dan Patrick talking about how the Pacers and how
they made history last night.

Speaker 6 (03:12):
One thousand, six hundred and forty. Teams are three in
one thousand, six hundred and forty when trailing by seven
points or less in the final minute of fourth quarter overtime,
and the Pacers own two of those three wins. Both
this postseason, you have to find ways to lose, and
Cleveland was banged up. Donovan Mitchell gave you a great performance,

(03:36):
but he was spent. He was spent. I think he
averaged around thirty one minutes per game during the regular
season because they have a deep team and they were
blowing people out. Now you got to have him play
almost forty minutes. I think he played thirty six thirty
seven minutes last night, and he looked tired at the
very end. Can't get the ball in bounds. You know

(03:56):
you don't fully block out Tyres Halliburton. Halliburton is going
to miss the free throw on purpose. You have one
thing to do. Make sure that you box out the shooter.
Halliburton made a great play, grabs it, goes back. I
thought that they were playing decent defense. They were forcing
him to go left. He got the shot off.

Speaker 3 (04:19):
Yeah, listen, I understand what Dan saying.

Speaker 7 (04:23):
Okay, I do.

Speaker 3 (04:24):
I understand what Dance saying in regards to you gotta
box him out. And I've lost a game in similar fashion.
And what's crazy about it is we're so wrapped up
in this always never philosophy, right, always foul in you're
up three points, Well, happened with Cleveland, they get beat.

(04:45):
Happened the night before with Oklahoma City they get beat.
And there is some hey, maybe we thrink time score situation,
and some of it is also you got to figure
out how to box out when you have you don't
have the same numbers that people think you have in
terms of boxing people out right. You can't put four
guys at the free throw line to box out at

(05:07):
the NBA level, so got you know, gotta get your guy.
It should be easier, but it's not there. We got
into a little bit in the radio show. We'll do
more so as it goes on. You can when you're defensively,
and we did this. You can violate, you can violate,
and we talked kind of on radio about why you

(05:29):
violate because if you violate, well you have to listen
to that part of the show. But we do this
all always or never. You always filu there, you don't
always do anything. Everything requires context. And two nights in
a row, a team up three fouled and both teams
lost the game in regulation. Here's Colin Cowherd talking about

(05:50):
Anthony Edwards.

Speaker 8 (05:51):
And maybe this is old school, but I was thinking
about this, like part of being a great player, you know,
Michael Jordan's flew game, Lebron playing hurt. Part of being
a great player is not when you're rested, it's when
you just don't have any energy. But for Aunt to
be rested at full strength, have a size advantage. Steph

(06:14):
is hurt. Just forget your game. You just have a
light bulb has.

Speaker 2 (06:19):
To go off. This is a moment.

Speaker 8 (06:21):
We gotta win this game, and the Warriors stole a
home court advantage.

Speaker 3 (06:27):
Yeah, I mean, I don't think there's any question that
people know it's a moment. I think what's amazing is
how good this team, the Warriors have become defensively after struggling,
and some of it is them understanding the physicality of
the playoffs, and some of it is other teams not
shooting the basketball that well, and some of that, in
this particular case is a team that maybe thought they

(06:50):
were walking into a game that was a lot more
difficult than they thought previous to that. That's what the
Fox is.

Speaker 5 (06:58):
Say.

Speaker 1 (06:59):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Doug Gottlieb
Show weekdays at three pm Eastern noon Pacific on Fox
Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 3 (07:09):
Let's find out who are what is annoying? Jason Stewart.

Speaker 2 (07:14):
And now it's your annoying.

Speaker 9 (07:22):
Hey, Doug, there are two hills in this You're annoying,
two hills that make this segment a lot. Actually, recently
I featured Jamel Hill, somebody that I got to know
in the industry. I like her personally. We agree on
almost nothing politically, but that's fine. Jamel Hill was on
CNN last night and she got into it with our

(07:42):
buddy what's his name, Scott Walker, Scott Jennings, Scott Jennings
about trans women playing in sports.

Speaker 10 (07:52):
The other problem, Scott, is that it's never enough. It's
bathrooms today, it's sports today, it's sports tomorrow, it's the
military today.

Speaker 7 (08:00):
It's also sports today.

Speaker 10 (08:01):
By the way, Yeah, it is sports today.

Speaker 7 (08:03):
Americans agree with that's fine.

Speaker 10 (08:05):
And guess what the majority sometimes is wrong. That also happens,
right because the majority used to believe that doctor Martin
Luther King Junior was somebody who was a threat, that
somebody who was not a good American. The majority of
people used to be against civil rights.

Speaker 2 (08:18):
Were they right?

Speaker 10 (08:18):
No, they weren't.

Speaker 9 (08:19):
Well, so here's the deal. So in the history of.

Speaker 7 (08:21):
Man, that was that was? That was it? Those goalposts
move really incredible.

Speaker 9 (08:26):
In the history of this country, have have there been
things that our society has thought that has been outdated
and wrong? And over time we've corrected it. Yes, sure,
but I don't think anybody is going to come around
on this. Trans women should never be playing with women period.

Speaker 7 (08:44):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (08:44):
Again, like we're making it, we're making this into a
civil rights movement. And again you have here's here is
where my my easy argument for that and and this
is for basically all of these arguments. If you want
to lump in political arguments with arguments about supports, you can. Okay,

(09:09):
the idea of protecting someone's civil rights, their life, liberty,
and pursuit of happiness is inalienable, okay, And frankly I disagree,
and I know the Constitution disagrees with some in Washington
who believe that even if you're an illegal alien, or
you're thought to be an illegal alien, that you lose

(09:30):
your rights to life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. Doesn't
mean you get to stay here, okay, but you are
allowed due process under the law of our constitution. But
where that cuts off is when it affects the civil
rights of somebody else. Right, when that affects the rights
of somebody else, and you're allowed if you want to

(09:53):
have a sex change. And by the way, like again
I'm as you know, Jay Stu I'm far more left
of center than you are. Not that you're super far right,
you just more call out the hypocrisy of the left,
and I think the right as well. Right, Like, it's
just we all that's what we do. But the point
is that no one's saying you can't have a sex

(10:18):
change when you're an adult. But why should you be
allowed to have a sex change and then play sports
against biological women which affects their abilities? Like I just
I think we're making this like it's Martin Luther King,
like it's a civil rights movement that Now again, there

(10:42):
there aren't people I don't believe saying that if you're
an adult and you want to have a sex change,
you can't have it. No one's saying that. They're saying, hey,
you can do this. You can go through hormone therapy.
We can call you by a name that was not

(11:02):
your biological given name. You can change your name and
believe that this is who your true self is. We're
not going to argue that, but what we're gonna say is, Okay,
the only thing you have to give up is you're
not go we'll play sports against biological women. I don't
if it's really that big a part of who you
are to become a different sex, then is it not

(11:27):
worth it? Otherwise, is it not worth it to give
up the right to play sports at a high level?

Speaker 9 (11:36):
I don't know what else Tyreek Hill, he was actually
able to take time out from impregnating women that aren't
his wife planning to seed and women that aren't married
to him to answer a simple question, Hey, Tyreek, who
are the top five quarterbacks in the league right now?

Speaker 5 (11:56):
Say?

Speaker 7 (11:56):
Go out right my top five quarterbacks?

Speaker 5 (12:00):
Lamar Josh pat Obviously, no, this is no order, by
the way, Maker Mayfield.

Speaker 7 (12:08):
And Joe b Joe Shisty too.

Speaker 9 (12:10):
What's great about this is that Tyreek Hill isn't smart
enough to know that if he just puts to it
in there, nobody would blame him. In fact, because the
top four, the top four are pretty obvious, yeah, and
then the fifth one could be arguable. And then if
you put your actual quarterback in that passes you, that
throws you the ball, that nobody would have blamed him.

(12:31):
But he's too dumb to know that.

Speaker 3 (12:33):
Yes, it is amazing. What annoys you though?

Speaker 9 (12:38):
That he's that Tyreek Hill is too dumb?

Speaker 7 (12:40):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (12:42):
Oh yeah, it doesn't annoy me. It's just it's I
want no one to say anything so they can ask
him more questions about you know, who's the best organization?
She played for lock Cancy. She's not close like you know,
you play for the Dolphins, that would That's amazing.

Speaker 9 (12:58):
Something that will annoying happened while night at the beginning
of the Warriors Te Wolls game. Buddy Healed put on
the wrong shorts. Now we can we could argue that
this is a direct effect of what we've talked about
for a long time. Now, why are we doing alternate
uniforms in the playoffs anyways? So of course Buddy put
on the wrong shorts to the wrong alternate uniform. This

(13:20):
is what happens, right, So they had took a delay
of game and he had to go back and change.
It just annoys me when people have mishaps with their
shorts during a game. Do you know any other cases
in basketball history?

Speaker 7 (13:35):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (13:35):
Yeah, I had my shorts on backwards in the game against.

Speaker 7 (13:38):
Y What thank you?

Speaker 9 (13:41):
What happened on that one? And why were you so
quick to change your shorts?

Speaker 7 (13:44):
I've always wondered that they were backwards?

Speaker 9 (13:48):
No, no, I know, did that impact your ability to
play or where is it against the rules?

Speaker 3 (13:52):
Neither neither. They were chanting shorts on backwards. I was
playing in a game, so yeah, I mean, I was
just excited to be playing at fog Ollenfield House. We
were delayed in getting there. I got in the gym,
I put on my shorts, I put on my the
tear away sweats over the top of them, and then
I went and didn't you know what about my business
tour tore off of the tairways right when I was

(14:14):
getting introduced, and then never thought twice about it and
couldn't hear me on shorts on backwards?

Speaker 9 (14:20):
By the way, Doug, congrats on the scheduling of the
play Kansas.

Speaker 3 (14:24):
We're going to play against Kansas to start the UH
to start the year next year, first game of the
year November three at fog Allen Field House taking on
the Jayhawks.

Speaker 7 (14:37):
Holy shit, yeah, why not? Right?

Speaker 9 (14:42):
So people that have shorts malfunctions during games? Tyreek Hills too,
Dom and Jammel Hill tries to bring civil rights into
the sports Transcris.

Speaker 3 (14:53):
Jameel Hill going from talking about transgender athletes to losing
her mind and talking about Martin Luther King Yeah, that's annoy.

Speaker 2 (15:05):
Why are we doing this because we can?

Speaker 5 (15:12):
So?

Speaker 9 (15:13):
Tom Brady made a lot of waves with this, right.
He was on some podcasts and I don't even know
what podcast it is. It doesn't ring a bell, doesn't
look familiar. But he was finally asked about Shaduur Sanders,
who's a friend of his. He's good buddies with Dion.
Shadeur is one of his mentees. Why did he slip
in the draft?

Speaker 4 (15:31):
Elephant in the room should ar Sanders?

Speaker 2 (15:34):
What happened?

Speaker 5 (15:35):
Tom?

Speaker 2 (15:35):
Why? Why why did he go so late.

Speaker 5 (15:37):
In the draft?

Speaker 2 (15:39):
It's a good question.

Speaker 7 (15:40):
I was.

Speaker 11 (15:40):
I wouldn't have part of any evaluation process or to otherwise.
I know, Well, everyone's got every you know. That's a
problem with media is everyone could just say whatever the
fuck they want. I actually texted Shadur because I know
him very well, and I said, dude, like, whatever happens
wherever you go, that's your first day, day two matters
more than the one ninety nine. Yeah, so who could

(16:03):
speak on it better than me? Like what that really means?
Use it as motivation. You're gonna get your chances, Go
take advantage of it.

Speaker 3 (16:11):
Pretty awesome stuff, right, pretty awesome stuff. I don't like
the fact that he didn't say why, but I did
like everything else about it. I could play for you
because we can't. All Right. That's it for the In
the Modus podcast. Check out the radio show every day
three to five Eastern, twelve two Pacific, Fox Sports Tradio,
