Doug Gottlieb Show. In the Bonus Fox Sports Radio, iHeart
Radio App. Hey, welcome in, Oh boo, how are you?
What's going on? How's your day? This is the Doug
Gottlieb Show. It's Fox Sports Radio, iHeartRadio App. Welcome in,
(00:31):
and we're getting ready for a great college football weekend.
And who better for a great college football weekend? Well,
then the host of the Barbets podcast. He's Chris FeliCa.
You see him on Big Noon Kickoff every Saturday. Let's
just go in chronological order, right. Games that start first,
Vandy LSU. Vandy's a two and a half point favorite
(00:52):
at home against the Tigers.
Speaker 3 (00:55):
Who do you like? I think the number in the
number is is accurate. I've had a lot of people
ask me this week, like do you think Bandy should
be favored over LSU? And I'm like, yeah, it's crazy.
You go back to like ninety seventy eight and this
is like one hundred and seventy sixth game Vandy has
played against the rank team and it's the first time
they've ever been favored, So it's uncharted territory, but I
(01:17):
think Vandy is the better team here. LSU has really
struggled on offense this year, whether it's been running the
ball and this frus staying healthy, and Vandy feels like
a complete team. Went to Alabama, played them really tough,
and now you're coming home against team it's kind of
struggled to move the ball at the very least. I
(01:40):
think it's a lower scoring game, and I think the
number is right. If I had to circle one of
those picks on my poolsheet this week, I would led
light with Andy.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
Amazing. Okay, Oklahoma coming off a loss to Texas, big
loss to Texas in Dallas, now travels to Columbia. South
Carolina take on the game Cock. So they've had their
own disappointing season to date, right, but really really talented
team and they just lost to LSU. They've lost three
of their last floor flour but it is in Columbia
(02:12):
and oh you kind of trying to figure themselves out.
After Matier throws those picks last week, Oh use a
five and a half point favorite. The total is fifty
forty three and a half.
Speaker 3 (02:23):
This feels like one of those games that either South
Carolina wins outright or Oklahoma wins by double digits, and
I don't know what it's going to be, and I
know that doesn't really help you much. The total is
very very low in the game, and it makes sense
you're looking at two of the worst offense is when
it comes to like yards per play against power four teams,
(02:43):
and that's kind of the misconception. Everybody thinks of my
tier and this offense r buck going up now in field,
you look at the good opponents that they played this year,
their offen has been very very limited, and I have
got matier who should be healthier this week. The total
it's boarded like an NFL game. I think the bigger
question for Oklahoma now'm moving like it's this is I
(03:05):
don't want to say a must win for OU, but
the urgency to bounce back from the Red River Loft
last week. When you look at what you have coming
up to end the year with five straight ranked opponents
coming up, like if OU doesn't win this one, that
you could be really hard pressed to do better than
six and six. Unfortunately, no play here. I do think
(03:25):
it will be lower scoring, but like I said, I
don't know if I can go under forty one or
forty two or whatever it is. But I guess how
Carol have a chance to win. But again, I don't
know if I'm looking to make too big of a
play in this game.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
Let's continue on. There's a bunch of other ones. Ole,
Miss Georgia, Ole, Miss Georgia. It's in Athens, beautiful day,
about eighty degrees in Athens, and old missus defeated is
over a touchdown? Favorite seven and a hook is what
I'm looking at in the totals fifty four and a half.
Speaker 3 (04:05):
Well, you you have found one of those games that
I like, and I like Georgia. Here I got George Georgia.
To quote our buddy Bill Rafter, he has onions a
super resilient team coming back from double digits down against Tennessee.
And their running game is really really good. They're deep
at running back and the Fraser old's onto the ball
that makes them even deeper. All this is undefeated, But
(04:29):
I worry about their ability to stop the run. They
give up some yards on the ground a couple of times.
To see Arkansas notably even last week was it ran
the ball on them somewhat effectively, which was surprising to see.
Chambliss now first Roads Heart in the SEC. I think
stuff like that matters. So I think Georgia their ability
(04:52):
to run second half defense and their ability to make
adjustments at that time have been good. I'll have to
have some pretty good notes on my column. It's about.
It's that where you've had a team who's a six
and oho team is a seven and a half point underdog.
Is you go back like the last ten years, only
one of those sixteen teams is wand up pulling the
(05:12):
upste So Georgia money line. If you want to throw
that at a parlay, I'm gonna I'm gonna lay there
something and a half to.
Speaker 2 (05:17):
Yeah, I don't. I don't blame you, but you are
really excited about Georgia on that one. I can hear
it in your voice. Okay, let me look at it.
There's a couple others that are super interesting. Tennessee taking
on Bama. Bama's an eight and a half point favorite.
I know they're playing better eight and a half points
though in the SEC at home, and the totals fifty.
Speaker 3 (05:36):
Nine feels like a higher scoring game. I think. I
think the Alabama team total of something to look forward
to here. You would expect Ryan Williams did not mix
catch last week to come back play a little bit
better or about at the offense. The one thing I
worry about laying points here with Bama is just I mean,
it's something that we talked about last week. Just fourth
(05:57):
straight week now Georgia and last week at Missouri, now
home against Tennessee, third Saturday in October. Just a massive,
brutally difficult stretch of games. Can you continue to physically
and mentally get up week after week after week? At
Tennessee's defense isn't necessarily free, but they do have some
guys on that front. Four we're going to be playing
(06:18):
in the NFL. And on the flip side, we saw
Tennessee throw the ball over Georgia. We saw Tennessee throw
the ball. But for a lot of teams this year
and Alabama can't get to the quarter that I'd be
looking towards the over here, and that's not a normally
that I like to make.

Speaker 2 (06:45):
Utah taken on b YU. The Holy War is back.
Utah at three and a half point favored on the
road there only lost a home run to Texas Tech.
By you undefeated but hadn't played anybody of note yet,
who do you like?
Speaker 3 (06:58):
Yeah? And then that loss of time. It's a Tech
game obviously against a really good team. Had it came
in a situation where Dan Pierre was nursing and ankle
injury and he was not one hundred percent. I think
Utah is the right side here. Utah has been one
of the better teams in the country this year in
getting out to lead. You look at their first at
scoring differential. I think it's like plus fifty four to
(07:19):
fifty five, which is up there in these Power four games.
So I think Utah is a little bit maybe undervalued
and underappreciated now nationally because they aren't undefeated and they
lost that game. But you look look at BYU maybe
a look ahead spot. Last week at Arizona came back
got the overtime win. But they've been a couple of
other games this year where they haven't necessarily been super impressive.
(07:43):
I think the ut of the right side. I think
the number north of free is probably telling you that
as well, that the odds bakers think Utah is probably
seventy eight points better than BYU. Obviously on the road
against the undefeated team. You see that, and I think
the inclination for a lot of people will be to
take the points and take BYU. But I think Utah
(08:06):
is the better team, and I'm gonna lay it with FETs.
Speaker 2 (08:08):
Okay, Notre Dame USC. This one's big twentieth anniversary of
the Bush Bush. Notre Dame is a nine and a
half point favorite out of home against the Irish.
Speaker 3 (08:17):
I think USC has to be that the tendency to
being able that underdog with fleas this week, I think
what they did to the Michigan last week with the
third string running back, I think that costs some people's attention.
But you go back over the last fifteen years or so, well,
when USC has been a road underdog, they've only pulled
(08:40):
by two upsets. It doesn't happen often. You look at
the weather, it's going to be rainy in the upper
fifties probably now we know Notre Dame has the field
turf now, so it's not going to be like a
muddy bog way. Well, all be interesting to see how
many and that offense can operate in the rain and
potentially and obviously without their top two running backs, again,
(09:01):
probably without one of their offensive linemen as well. I
think it's going to be a tough ass for USA
to go on the road and win. This came parishion
moving them all up and down the field. That will
against anyone. So we'll see. ASC cannot put two really
impressive performances together back to back. I'm not sure they
go on the road and Ken.
