Doug Gottlieb Show, Fox Sports Radio. Super Week brought to
you by Amazon Fire Tv. Don't forget you can watch
the Big Game on Fire TV for free without cable.
(00:49):
Doug Gottlieb Show continues to roll on. Man, it's uh,
it's officially super weak. Right Monday through Thursday. Monday through
Wednesday was like the Super bowls coming, the super Bowl coming,
the Super Bowls coming, and it's a lot like um
um okay, for lack of a better, uh parallel hurricane.
(01:09):
Have I been through a hurricane? Right, Like you get
those outer bands, outer bands, Like, I mean, Monday was
like sure there's a hurricane. Sure, Sure, Tuesday was like yeah,
sure there's a hurricane. Wednesday's like outer bands, And now
of a sudden, I'm like, oh what they said was
in fact true. We're in the We're not yet in
(01:32):
the eye of the storm, but we are officially with
here is super week. Unbelievable. Guest less today, simply remarkable.
Guest less today, say Kuan Barkley will join US, Brian
Urlacher will join US, um Travis Kelsey will join US,
Kyler Murray will join US. George Kittle, Dan Marino, Adam Vinatieri,
(01:57):
Stefon Diggs, and Greg Olsen. What a show we have
planned for you, live from Atlanta again thanks to the
great folks at Fire TV. That's Amazon Fire TV. Uh. Well,
let's get to the news of the day regarding Anthony Davis.
The Lakers and Pelicans executives have connected on the phone
(02:18):
concerning Anthony Davis. League sources tell the ESPN they're expected
to talk again prior to next week's trade deadline. Look,
this is just like Shark Tank, That's what this is.
And the Pelicans had to be very very careful. They
know who the person with the deepest pockets and the
(02:39):
best fit is. They know it. They're absolutely sure of it.
They know it. And they're sitting over there and Mark
Cuban has like, uh, Mark Cubans my guy, Mark Cubans,
by Mark, Mark Cubans my whale. But you can't. You
(03:06):
can't say Mark Cuban makes an offer, or you feel
like everyone in the room knows Mark Cubans ultimately gonna
get it, and you can't get those other sharks off.
You can't because what ends up happening is you end
up chasing one other shark, or you end up trying
to get some two sharks to bid against one another. Hey,
you know, if we get the Celtics going, Hey, you know,
(03:27):
if we get the Knicks going, Hey, you know, if
we get the Lakers going, now they're gonna be against
themselves and now they're gonna great get a great deal,
huge deal. But if you do that, those sharks are
gonna talk about themselves. They're not. It's they're outstanding businessmen
(03:48):
for a reason, for a reason, and if they do it,
there's a magic to it. There's a magic to making
sure you know who your market. What you want to
do is you want to get kind of established. All right, Listen,
I come in saying that, you know, my evaluation is
ten million dollars. I know my evaluations more like four
(04:12):
or five million dollars. But I don't want you to
end up walking away with or more of my company.
I want still own my company when I'm dealing with
the Sharks on Shark Tank. That's the New Orleans Pelicans.
They want to get as many pieces as possible for
Anthony Davis. They want to be they want to have
(04:33):
cap stability. They want guys under rookie contracts. They want
draft picks. They want it all. And so you come
in asking for all the young players and the expiring
k CP contract and the number you know to number
one unprotected draft picks from the Lakers. You want it all,
but you gotta be careful about it. Earlier today there
(04:56):
was a response from the Pelican There was one report
said the sponsor for the Pelicans was that they would
not under any circumstances trade to the Lakers. And now,
of course we have this latest news that they've talked
on the phone. They're gonna talk some more. This deal
is gonna get done. The trade deadlines upon us. The
Lakers are, or at least the Anthony Davis lebron James
(05:18):
Camp is in panic mode over the possibility of being
sent elsewhere and being Paul George out in Oklahoma city
and they don't want that to happen. And so Del Demps,
who's made many a blunder as a general manager, is
standing in front of the Sharks. And look, let me
tell you about the Sharks. The standing in front of
(05:39):
Rob Pelinka. Rob Polinka pulled off a great move last
year with Kobe Altman. Remember that he traded for Isaiah Thomas,
who barely played and end up going away. He got
ripped Jordan Clarkston's kind. They didn't want Jordan Clarkston, they
didn't want Larry Nance, they didn't want those deals in
the books. They got rid of him. Look, Rob Blinka
(06:00):
is not a huge shark. He's not Danny Ainge. That's
a shark. Think about all the moves they made. So
you've gotta be very careful while you're engaging with the Lakers.
You gotta still be in communication with the Celtics. Hey, listen,
you're still gonna want Anthony Davis. Because they can't make
a move for Anthony Davis right now. They can't make
a move with Anthony Davis until the end of the season.
(06:21):
But that doesn't mean you can't have discussions about the
possibility of what you're gonna do in a handshake agreement?
What would Anthony Davis be worth to you at the
end of this year. So I find this entire thing
to be fascinating, fascinating, and it's a lot like Shark
(06:43):
Tank and Del Demps is making a pitch and he
wants to maintain complete and autonomous control of his company.
He's overvalued his company's over which is clear that like
the Pelicans are overvaluing their asset. But they think and
they might be right. He had the Lakers in a
position in a position where they feel compelled to overpay
(07:10):
overpat This is the Dug Gotlip Show here on Fox
Sports Radio. Let's turn our attention to the Nation Football
League before Damn Reno joins us. The Cowboys have taken
a page out of everybody else's book and they've named
a former former backup quarterback, a young guy, a play caller,
and Kellen Moore. Remember Kellen Moore's injury in the preseason
(07:34):
a couple of years ago was the only reason Dak
Prescott got an opportunity Kellen Moore, who played at Boise State.
And playing at Boise State is a lot like going
to business school at Harvard you're automatically considered to be brilliant.
And if you tell somebody I just met somebody earlier
day and she's like, yeah, I went to Harvard Business School.
Like I don't know if she got all seas at
(07:56):
Harvard Business School. I know she went to Harvard Business School.
I consider her brilliant. That's the same thing when you
play quarterback at Boise State, I consider you to be
a bright football mine. Remember more, uh as, it was
a career backup, and the Cowboys have decided let's just
add as many smart backups as possible to a smart
(08:18):
backup in Jason Garrett, Garrett's former backup. They added John
Kitten as quarterbacks coach, and now they have Kellen Moore,
who was another former backup, as their offensive coordinator. What's
made even more interesting is the fact that this move
was made after Jason Garrett told us there wouldn't be
many changes on his staff, and now we have a
(08:39):
massive change at offensive coordinate and frankly at quarterbacks coach,
which tells you all you need to know about Jerry
Jones running the organization and uh and um and and
and how much say Jason Garrett has a right Jerry
Jones still running it and credit Jerry Jones. I actually
(09:03):
think if Jerry Jones made this move, it Stephen Jones
made this move, and I don't believe that Jason Garrett
made this move. It feels like a smart move because
anyone who thinks and I think Dax Limited, but anyone
everyone the NFL is saying, you know, the Cowboys offense
is kind of lame, kind of predictable. We knew what
they were doing when they were doing it, and they've
been saying it for years, and Jason Garrett saying, nah,
(09:26):
status quo is fine. I actually liked this move, even
though I know the limitations of Dak Prescott. So too
does Kellen Moore. He knows the limitations of his of
quarter of his quarterback because he's been on staff and
he played and was supposed to start ahead of Dak Prescott.
(09:49):

his career was shortened because of injury. But how has Peyton,
(10:12):
how is payment? How has Tom Brady been able to
beat father time again and again and again. That's up
coming next. But first, you know, Valentine's Day is a

gonna catch up with Dan Rain now he's uh like
two sets over, so we thought we'd do He's enjoy
us like ten minutes. Let's catch up with a guy who,
based upon his performance this year, continue that for like,
(12:26):
I don't know, six seven more years and he'll be
a Hall of Famer. He's George Kittle, University of Awa
and Uh, I mean like would have set a record
for receiving ours in a game if not for his
coach Kyle Shanahan. Uh. He's joining us here live in
Atlanta as he gets that headset on. Uh, George Kittle
joining us on behalf of Skittles. You can't spell Skittles
(12:50):
without you, You actually cannot. The best part about it,
it really is, um, Are you a regular Skittles guy?
Are you a sour Skittles guy? So? I have always
been a fan of just regular Skittles because I I
do throw sour Skittles in once in a while. But
you know, like I mean, everyone experienced if you go
through the whole bag, like your mouth is sore for
three days. So I go half and half. That's my favorite.
(13:11):
But I love Skittles and the fact I gotta work
with them. It's a dream come true. I've been plugging
it since I was like five years old. I've been saying, hey,
high spoke kittle it skittles without the SESU my junior
high school in the back of my cleats said taste
of Rainbow. I mean, I've been plugging this like I've
been working my work exactly. I mean, I've been working
this angle and it's just it's a great opportunity for me.
I've been working with them. Uh they're doing it's you know,
(13:33):
instead of a commercial for the game, they're doing a
Broadway musical in New York City. I mean, think about that.
It's a Broadway musical and they're not airing It's the
only way to see it is if you go to
skills musical dot com, you buy tickets, you go to
the show in broad like on Broadway in New York City,
Super Bowl Sunday. It's gonna be absolutely credible. I mean,
have you ever seen Dexter, the TV show? Michael C.
Hall is the main guy in the in the Broadway musical,
(13:55):
He's singing for Skittles, and that's just what is so incredible.
I mean, I'm just and you won't be able to
see it unless you go to it. So I'm kind
of a fan of the mystique behind it, and I
really want to go um George Kill join us on
the Doug Gotlieb Show. We talked, and I know you
do a hundred of interviews during year. We talked about,
you know, the injuries you had when you were at Iowa,
and that lad obviously to people not understanding profound athletic gifts.
(14:18):
And obviously you found an offense and a and a
quarter a series of quarterbacks that been able to find you.
Was it about? What is about Kyle's system that everybody
wants a piece of? Um? He The creativity behind it
is just something that I've never seen before. Like we
literally have a new install. I'm talking like a whole
(14:39):
new install every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, every single week with
the season, like none of the players the same, Like
you got similar concepts and the formations like all the
like the main words are the same, but we don't.
There's not like a single player the week carry over
week the week other than like Dragonline, which is slants
and flats. Other than that, it's all completely different. The
run games completely different, the play actions completely different. And
that's one thing that I disappreciate. About because no week
(15:01):
is boring, Like there's no like all I know, the
like I'm good, I'm good. Yeah, it's I spent the
whole week studying because it's like, okay, I'm reinstalling everything.
And that's why I really appreciate it. And it's just
it's so much fun to be a part of his offense. Um. Uh,
Jimmy obviously got hurt. Yes, How was he different in
year two with the system before instead of year one? Oh,
(15:21):
he was definitely a lot more comfortable with it because
I mean when he came we uh just because I
mean we needed to play the last six games and
we had I mean, it wasn't the full extent of
Shanahan's offense, and it wasn't all the you know, you know,
all the lights and colors of it. We we we
dimmed it down a little bit. But uh, like just
being able to have Jimmy through O, T A S
and through camp and to see him um pick it up.
(15:43):
And because I mean, when you have Jimmy on the field,
it's just it's a different ballgame. Like he is, he's
unreal the leadership that he has. But just we we
are at our full offense. And it was just really
fun to watch Jimmy work with that. Yeah, it just
needs to get out of bounds. Get get dude, get
out of about. Like I don't know if he would
have gotten hurt anyway at a at a different point
in time, right, but but it's it's one of those
(16:03):
deals where you're like, man, I just no no show.
And I'm sure it's a sign of toughness. He wants
to show you, guys, you're not soft quarterback whatever. But
you wonder how your season would have gone had that
not happened. Yet you guys are still competitive. Um. Antonio
Brown has openly ophined like dudes on He's he's sliding
into dudes d ms. I'm sure as he's slitting into yours,
not my d M. Was just on Twitter, okay, so
(16:25):
just coming at you on Twitter. I it was I
reached out first. You reached out first. Yeah, Jimmy g
darem me too? So I did it? Oh he did?
Did he Did he tell you or did he text you?
Or did he? Weird? It was New Year's e we're together. Yeah,
he's like he's like sent him out a tweet. Yeah,
He's like, you won't do it? And I was like, yeah,
I will, And so how long between your tweet and
(16:46):
the response? Oh, it was like twelve minutes? And were
you just hitting refresh refresher? But I'd put my phone down.
I didn't think anything. I didn't I when I said
it out, I didn't think anything of it. I thought
I was just gonna be like nothing, no big deal
on nothing. And then like twelve minutes later, I get
a notification like Tony Brown quoted it and retweeted, and
I was like, oh dear, oh gosh. So that was
(17:07):
But that was fun. I mean, and Tony Brown is
a great player. Um, but hey, I mean that's that's
all Mr Lynch and coach Shanahan. So whatever, you know,
whatever decisions they try to do, I'm fully back in them.
Coming about the Rams defense, you've seen it, what do
you think, uh, I mean, Waite Phillips is incredible. I
mean this creativity he has is is awesome. And it's
also old fashioned too, which is it's fun. Um, And
(17:27):
I mean there's not there's not really a lot of
weak links on their defense. You've got guys in the
middle of you got guys in the edges. Their linebackers
run there. I mean all their dbs or playmakers. I
mean they all have. All everyone on that team has
made a play at some point in the season. They
put them in the position that they are, so everything
that they do is uh, it's very good. Um it's
very sound defense, uh, coach Shanahan. And I mean I
(17:48):
had success with it just being a tight end, but uh,
it's a great defense. I'm really looking forward to watch
them show out. Gronk is ruining this thing for all
the rest of you guys. All this blocking stuff, all
this blocking stuf be like, look, I get paid to
catch touchdown passes and stuff. Pretty impressive though, to the
guy who is as has been as impactful as a
pass catcher is able to at this stage in his
(18:10):
career show that he has the versatility to help in
the run game. I mean, every time I see Grount
take the field, I think you should go for three
touchdowns two yards and had for like five pancakes in
the run game. I mean, I just think he's a monster.
And that's just you know who he is and what
he does, and um, I actually love watching everything that
he does. And like you said, I mean, he's such
a monster in the run game. I mean the game
we gets the Chargers is pristine Gronk run game, and
(18:34):
I could watch it again and again, just the amount
of blocks he had, the second level opening up holes,
working with Trip Brown on the left side, like, I mean,
you got Gronk and Trap round the left side. Those
are two massive humans. And I mean, what was it
the touchdown versus Chiefs They ran power off the left
side or I think that's what it was, and it
was just a massive hole because there's nothing you could do.
I mean, I play with Trip roundt s Francisco. He
(18:56):
is one of the most gifted people I've ever been
around in my entire life. Awesome stuff. It's uh, you
can't spell Skittles without Kittle, George Kittle. Of course you
have to go to the website in order to check
out this um uh music Broadway Com Skittles the Musical
just got of Skittles the Musical dot com. And but
see you looked at it so you can identify Grape.
(19:18):
But the rest of them, you're very easy. You're almost
like it's almost like being color blind, right, Like there's
two you can see red and green. I'm not sure
you can feel the red and the Green That's funny.
Good to catch up with you. Thank you so much.
Doug Gotli show rolls on here on Fox Sport Trader.
Let's take you to Dan Buyer, get you an update
now like going on Dan My goodness. Okay, let's start
(19:38):
at the NBA where you started off the show. You
were talking about the Pelicans and Lakers having conversations. While
apparently the Lakers are the only team talking to the Pelicans,
ESPN reports, even though they can trade for Anthony Davis
until July one, the Celtics have let it be known
that everyone is available except Kyrie Irving on their roster. Now,
this just in another wolch mom if you will. ESPN
(20:01):
reporting that the Knicks got a message from Chris Stops Porzingis.
That message was he's not happy with the direction of
the team, and the report says the senses that Porzingis
wants to be traded. The report went on to say
that teams like the Raptors, Spurs, Heat and Clippers could
be interested in acquiring Porzingis before the NBA trade deadline.
(20:23):
So there's that for you. In the NFL, the New
York Daily News reporting the Jets are interested in running
back Levan Baldish off season, but not for as much
as you may think. The report says the Jets aren't
likely to break the bank for Bell, who set out
the entire season. Cowboys made it official Kellen Moore's their
new offensive coordinator, John Kittens, the team's quarterbacks coach. The
(20:44):
New Orleans Advocate reports that the U S District Judge
Susie Morgan has ruled in favor of the National Football
League in the lawsuit filed by a Saints ticket holder
wanting the NFC Championship game to be replayed, also wanting
other things, so that has been overturned quickly. There's more
to get to, including free agent outfield the Price Harper
(21:06):
reportedly going to meet with the Padres later this week.
According to Ken Rosenthal, that woulda bag Jets. So's the

waste manage and open first. Waste Management opened his first
round play. Justin Thomas and Ricky Fowler are both time
for the lead at seven under par. We'll get back
to the Doug Gottliebs Show live from Super Bowl fifty
three and ten seconds, But first, a word from farmers.
From a dog accidentally flooding a living room to a
dog taking a joy ride, we've covered it. Talk to farmers.
We know a thing or two. Because we've seen a
(21:47):
thing or two. We are farmers under written. My Farmers
truck fire Insurance exchange its parts unavailable in every state.
Doug got Leaves Show, Fox Sports Radio. Man, what a
what a what a huge day in the NBA we have,
I mean crazy day in the NBA. So let me
get this state. Christophs Persingis has played a hundred eighties
(22:10):
six games in his career and he wants to be traded.
Like I I get the idea of losing sucks. I'm
part of a loser. I was drafted by a different regime, etcetera.
But like, look, dude, you're the part of the problem,
part of the solution. You've been out a calendar year.
They've decided to tank and refuel and and and a
(22:34):
tanking bank bakes basically what they want to do so
that next year they have, uh, this offseason, they have
all the cap room in the world to go out
and add a player and add a draft pick and
now you want out. That was the thing that the
Anthony Davis at least you could say the Pelicans in
seventy years to convince him, as he said, perssingis his head.
What was is that he said eighties six games total,
(22:56):
two plus seasons, barrel total. And he's like, I'm out, yeah,
and he's not, I mean, probably not gonna play this year.
Pays here. That's amazing, a really really remarkable, remarkable stuff. Um,
let's let's let's turn back to football. We'll get to
some hoops upcoming. As when I say the Man, there's
(23:17):
lots of guys that are known as the King, right right,
there's rich Richard Petty's the King. There's other there's other
Kings and other Lebron is the King. Um, but there's
there's only one the Man. That's Dan, the Man Marino,
who's kind of us thanks so much for um. What's
(23:39):
going on? Uh? When you see Tom Brady playing at
forty one years old, playing his ninth Super Bowl. It's
pretty cool. Is there any and you're like, you're a
great you wouldn't have been a great player lest your
great competitor, I know how competitive you are. Is there
any Damn? I was born too soon. I should have
been born with these rules in this league, and I
would have played well in my mid forties. So there's
(24:01):
there's there's no if you talk about like jealousy and
stuff like that, like you could have been No, I don't.
I don't have that, but I I do believe you know,
I could have probably played longer, but it was you know,
some health stuff. But he still played. I was thirty eight,
you know, It's not like I had a short career.
But I really give some of these guys credit. I mean,
even though the rules of change, they still get hit,
you know, I mean, and they gotta still go through
(24:22):
that process. You know. An offseason, Tom Brady got a
saying himself, hey man, I got another year. I gotta
go through that whole process again, the mental part to
working out all that stuff. And he loves it and
he talks about it all the time. And that and
that's where when you start to get older that you
may just slack off a little bit. You know, you
kept chasing it, right, you kept and then the last
playoff loss obviously was a bad one to Jacksonville. Yeah.
(24:44):
I that wasn't even a game. Yeah in my mind. Anyway,
I asked, because it's like one of those things you're like,
he said zero percent chance this is last game, but
you know, like you kind of fall off a cliff.
It just kind of like should he consider it? Like
if he was asking you, like, should I consider it? Um? So,
my advice would be playing until they kick you out, because, uh,
(25:08):
it's something you're gonna miss because you play at that
high level and it's been such a part of your
life for so long. You know, I started playing when
I was eight twill I was thirty eight that and
if you when you quit, you still feel it, like
I remember feeling when it became summertime and like around
mini camp, like I'm supposed to be getting ready to
go play football, and that's always gonna be a part
of your life. So as long as you can do it,
(25:30):
he should do it. I mean, that would be my
advice to him out live show here on Fox Sports Trading.
All right, what about the fact that he played for
a historically great coach. How about what would it be
like for you to play for a guy who's in
his early thirties. Um so no, I'm sure it's it
could be you know, refreshing. Yeah, yeah, you know, I
mean you you just look at everybody's different. Everybody has
(25:52):
different ways of doing things, and and um, you know,
our our coach, which I think we're gonna announce soon
the Dolphins is gonna be seven or he is thirty seven,
and uh and apparently he is an outstanding you know,
football to a great job with exactly if the guy
who we all think it's going to be right if
he's done an unbelievable job. But the Patriots, considering they
(26:13):
don't seem to have huge name personnel. Um, yeah, so
what are you trying to say? You're saying, Okay, because
of the coaching, Okay, I got, I got you're saying,
like I saw you. What you're saying is because yeah,
so you don't you know, because it's team defense, is
what you're saying. There's not like some great Bruce Smith
coming off the edge or something like that. Yeah, right, exactly. Yeah,
so I think it's gonna be refreshing, excited about it.
(26:36):
You know, if you're a Dolphin fan, we should be
excited just see how it goes. Um, I watched practice
with you earlier this year when they were getting ready
to play the Bears, and it was actually right before Ryan.
Ryan kind of felt the shoulder issue there or that
was you there, and like your your shadow looms large,
not just because of your personality, but because how good
you were. Like do they have to go back to
(26:58):
the drawing board and find an other quarterback? Like this
has been ever since you walked out the door. They
can't find the guy. So you know what I mean?
I love Ryan actually, and he's he works his butt off.
I think the fact that he was he's been hurt
a lot the last two years, and I mean that
and that's gonna be up to someone else's decision, you know,
as far as the Ryan's gonna be there. He still
has another year in his contract and uh so you know,
(27:20):
we'll see where that goes. You know, I don't know,
and it's it's really for everybody actually, you know, everybody
an organization. So we're gonna see where that all goes.
But you know, Ryan's been has been injured a lot.
He'll be the first one to tell you he's been
injured a lot, and I think that affected him some,
you know, over the last couple of years. Yeah, he
had the knee and of course this year the arm.
Damn Reno joining us on the doug out the show. Um.
(27:40):
You look up all these banners and there's a lot
of Super Bowl and obviously we have. But to me,
like the signature super Bowl of my childhood was your
super Bowl versus Montana, right because we all trying to
look for it. I don't see it yet, but because
something got to go down. Okay, wait, wait, it's been
a while. Yeah, so here's the things I remember. I
(28:02):
remember you too, Okay, Um, I remember it was at
at Stanford Stadium in Palo Alto. Um, and I remember
my sister's hamster died or we found it dead at halftime.
I don't actually remember that much about the game. Well,
hamster could be traumatic. It was. It was traumatic. It
was suffy with my sister's hamster and Buffy, Buffy, what
(28:24):
do you remember about So I remember like afterwards, I'm like,
can we play this again tomorrow? It happened so fast. Yeah,
it just felt like it just flew by. We lost.
I remember to whether or not being great because it
was really foggy and all that. I remember that. Uh Um,
they controlled you know, they controlled the ball most of
the game. I don't, I don't. I think the time
(28:45):
of possession was like crazy in their favor. But that
was my thing. Like after the game, you know, I'm
gonna I'm gonna get a chance to do this again.
I wish I could play this game again tomorrow, you know,
because maybe I'll learn more from it. You understand, was
twenty three. I was twenty three years old. Is crazy
like you twenty three? The only chance you get a
Super Bowl is the Niners in the town that they
(29:06):
held up end up. Now that right there at the house. Yeah, exactly,
there's the at their house. We're coming from Miami. But
you know, I mean it's I thought I would definitely
play in another super Bowl for sure, but it didn't happen.
It's one of those things. Yet. Um, we we got
Kyler Murray coming on a little bit later. Awesome, he's
got a great he is, but he's also I mean smaller. Okay,
(29:29):
now you were now a big but you had this
ridiculous ridiculously quick, accurate release with a great arm. He's
got by all accounts everything in terms of armed talent,
great legs. But he's tiny, like he's legit, five nine
and a half. Can I I met him, So I
would say that that's about the size. Do you think
in this NFL you can play at that height at quarterback?
(29:52):
So from you know, it's from what you just see
what he did at Oklahoma, you know, the one year
it's only been one year, but he was extremely productive
and uh and explosive, very explosive. So I do think
he can play at high level in the NFL. I
think the game has changed a little bit. Where's you know,
the more run pass option stuff and you know they
throw a lot of the bubble screens and you get
the read options stuff that a lot of teams are doing. Um,
(30:16):
not very it's it's it's it's more prevalent now. The
style is more prevalent than it's ever been. So I think, yes,
I think that you guys. What' funny is you guys
are kind of the innovators of it. Like you guys
were the person the person really spread it out and
just yeah us and then you know the bills used
to build. It was. Yeah, it was a little bit
(30:36):
later they had that K gun offensive used to call
no huddle and stuff. Yeah, but uh yeah, that's that's
way more prevalent now and it's ever been. How does
Mahomes compared to you? I mean, yeah, well, uh he is. Well,
I would say this stage in his career was more athletic,
like he can run around. I mean I could move
a little bit at whatever. But as far as throwing, like,
(30:58):
I mean he could he could all the throws. Yeah,
it's really fun to watch, you know, it really is
fun to watch. He's pretty pretty amazing. Obviously, this is
a day in which everybody or Sunday is a day
which everybody picks out right, And I know you're here
on half Nutri system. Yes, that's part of It's you've
been They've been part of you know, your life for
a long time. You've been years, We've been thirteen years, alright,
(31:18):
So so this year how does how should somebody turn
onto Nutri system after the big game? So first of all,
it's a neutrous system for men that we're talking about.
And then it's Monday is the biggest day day for right, right,
because Monday playoffs are drinking beer, eating taco back. Hold
it is right now, so you're just eating food and
(31:40):
staying so we right and um. And the thing is that,
you know the best part about it is for men
and make it simple. You know, you just call in
and get the food. They send it to your door.
You don't have all these programs you gotta do. You
just eat the food, stay on that, on that program,
and you lose the weight and it's been good and
it shows you also you know how to eat in
proportion and understands. And the cool thing about me, I've
(32:00):
been doing this for thirteen years with people and doing
this kind of thing and it actually there's some people
to come on me, like change my life, changed my life.
I see people in the airport. Now your wife will
come up. Go you changed his life because he lost
sixty pounds you know, on neucle system and it makes
you feel good and it works. So that's what it is.
Monday the big diet day for many I have I
have actually uh an admission, not that I'm moving on
(32:22):
a diet when you don't need to go. When I was,
when I was, when I was a kid, I was
the biggest Damoria fan and I made my mom for
my birthday. And I grew up in southern California. You
didn't need gloves. We got to. I got gloves. Protect
the hands that protecting you. Right care of the hands,
take care of their hands that take care of you. Perfect.
Are you more? When you walk through the airport and
people go Marido, do they say laces out Merino or
(32:44):
do they say is a tonic gloves? They say neutral system?
In what order one to correct? Actually laces laces out?
I get a lot of that. Yeah, I get a
lot of that, and then it's neutral system then because
Isa Toner has been a while, but we just came
out with a new commercial this year because he's been
like twenty years, you know, I saw it. I saw
it in eighties seven, like the a little bit of
eighties seven that we did, and then then the new
(33:05):
stuff which kind of turned out pretty good. It was
better Clayton or duper. I can't say, because I would
say that Clayton was more more. He did more as
far as moving inside, playing the slot and moving around.
But those guys I can't. I mean, I could never
throw either one at her bus. I love those names,
but Duper had the great nickname super Duke, super Duper,
(33:26):
so it didn't matter. Like I'm sure Clayton was sitting
there going like, hey, if my last name was better,
you gotta go appreciate, appreciate, make sure you use neutral
system if you want to make that number one diet
day of the year is Monday. Thanks to Dan the
man thinks, appreciate it man on on Fox Sports Radio,
we got breaking news, breaking news from Dan. By what
(33:48):
do you got breaking news from Fox Sports Doug. Multiple reports,
including The Athletic and ESPN, say that the New York
Knicks close to finalizing a deal to send Chris Stops
Porzingis to the Dallas Mavericks in a trade that would
send Dennis Smith Jr. To the Big Apple. Oh my god,
(34:10):
what a terrible trade for the Knicks. Dennis fifth Junior stinks,
he can't shoot, he doesn't work hard, Oh my goodness.
And and how about the how about the uh Chris
stops for singers? This from where? Uh was it? Latvia's Latvia?
Yet Latvian Slovenia together on this joint right. They can't
(34:32):
guard anybody, but man, they're gonna be skilled. And he
got DeAndre Jordan back there blocking shots. I love it
for the MAVs. I hate it for the Knicks. Hate it.
Oh now look obviously physicals. All right, we'll get to that.
We'll react to that. Plus other stories today part of
game time, uh, including guests who's begging for Levyan Bell

Doug Got Leap Show, Fox Sports Radio. I gotta tell
(35:41):
you I'm not sure that. If I'm the Lakers, I
sit out there, like, why didn't we make a move
for Christopher Prezingis. I know he wouldn't obviously help you
this year coming off of a knee injury. But the
big news of the day is Christops Persius Appers headed
to Dallas in exchange for Dennis Smith Jr. I mean,
unless his knee ain't ever gonna heal right, it is
(36:04):
a massive, massive win for the Mavericks. Massive. Let's get
you to game time. This is game time on the
Doug Gottlieb Show. Don't being that guy in the room
with the long, sloppy looking, untucked dress shirt. Untucket Church
are made to fall at the perfect length. Go to
(36:25):
untucket dot com see for yourself why g Q called
them perfection use a Promoco Duck purchases Untucket dot Com
buyer the game today, Doug is who, all right, let's
have a little game time. This is kind of off
the fight. Guess who else is in this nixed Mavericks trade? Dummy? Well,
(36:46):
I can tell you this, Uh, Courtney Lee, Tim Hardaway Jr.
Going to Dallas. Dallas would likely receive Dennis Smith Jr.
DeAndre Jordan and West Matthews. So that's part of the deal.
The expiring contracts of DeAndre Jordan and West Matthews now
open up the Knicks for you know, a lot of
money you don't have to give porzingis the maxim Well
(37:09):
maybe that would have been and they and they got
Tim Harley Jrs. Contract off there, but so that's is
the blockbuster and uh l a time seeing the Lakers
have Yeah, SMIT had five trades to the Pelicans for
them to review if they would like any one of
these five and we'll we'll, We'll give you these players
for Anthony Davis. All right, guess who Doug is waiting
(37:31):
for levy On Bell to sign his contract before he
will sign an extension with the team with his team?
Waituh that these there's a running back in the NFL
that is looking to sign a contract extension with his team,
but he's not going to do that until levy On
Bell ends up signing with whatever team. What the market? Yes,
(37:54):
running back NFL extension? Uh? Can I get a hint?
Buddy of yours may have a role in this. Buddy
of mine might have a role in this. Buddy of
mine might have a role in this. I would like
to phone a friend I have hte John Ramos. Ramos
(38:19):
Ramos always gets a great int John, and welcome to
who wants to be U? I don't know, I don't know.
Tell me it's Chargers running back Melvin Gordon. Got it.
Guess who fans voted as the NFL's Pepsi Rookie of
the Year for this past regular season In the NFL,
the fans voted, Oh, Pepsi Rookie of the Year. Uh,
(38:44):
he's gonna join us later. Yeah, you gonna make fun
of it, be to make fun of it. I we're
gonna roll back to tape form with Hey, man, you
made fun of me. Oh. I didn't make fun of
it at all. And I'm a pepsi guy more than
than coke for sure. I was just trying to clarify
because the Associated the Press Work of the Year comes
out on Saturday, and this one is voted on by
the fans. I Guess who reportedly has been smitten with
(39:07):
Missouri quarterback Drew lock especially after a Senior Bowl performance
last week. Oh that's John Gruden. No, No, it's Broncos
GM John Elway. Yes, is the one who wants it unlocked?
I don't even know if that made sense. Uh, guess who, Doug.
Oh wait, actually this is a different one. Guess whose
(39:29):
celebrity bowling tournament will air on Fox opposite pregame coverage
of Super Bowl fifty three. Yeah on CBS. Yes, celebrity
bowling Mookie Bets is gonna take part. Arall Owens will
be there as well. Of course you could see the
p b A on Fox Sports one. But Chris Paul Bower, No,
not really. You're from Wisconsin. How you gonna I know?
(39:50):
I was? I did. I did trophy and second grade bowling. Yeah,
we were the bowling Buccaneers. How about that one? I
want I want to I want to see that that.
The trophy was about this tall, like and I'm like
six inches tall, and it just had two pins at
a bowling ball on it bowl When I was in
second grade. I remember that. Finally, Doug, that was like
(40:15):
some of the ones I would bowl in second grade.
Actually pretty good. Yeah, when you're eight nowadays, you know,
not so much. I don't curve it. I still go
straight on. Yeah, that's that's how I do it. Finally,
do guess who reportedly as a meeting with the Padres
scheduled for later this week. M oh uh, yes, that
(40:40):
is the case. Ken Rosenthal of the MLB on Fox
the first to report it. I don't know they're gonna
go bowling or not. But John MORROSSI also in on
that report. I will say this. You know, when it
comes down to everything, there are there are worse things
in the world than waking up in the morning in
San Diego. So if Bryce Harper is just like, all right,
I'll take the money that the Padres have, What's like,
(41:01):
what's the deal with the Padres. It's just like we
got money to burn the rest of the good like
a year away from this farm system coming to fruition. Hey,
why not? I mean the Diamondbacks have moved Paul Goldschmidt,
So there's one team you don't have to compete for.
Who knows about the Giants, and I mean Nolan By
an entire team. Dug Gottlieb Show Stuck, Gotlieve Show Fox
(41:31):
Sports trade Alright, so give me. Let's go back to
those names that are likely to be in this trade
for Zingus, Courtney Lee and Tim Martaway Junior to Dallas.
The next get DeAndre Jordan's Wesley Matthews and Dennis Smith Junior.
Dere Jordan's contracts expiring. This is first year with the Mavericks.
He just go over the Mavericks. Yeah, what was it
(41:55):
one year or two year? Yeah? I might be with
an opt out or something that man um that would
be a a blockbuster, blockbuster deal. Sae Kwan Barkley will
join us. Is Eli Manning? Should you still be their quarterback?
I'll ask him next. Fox Sports Radio has the best

Not a lot going on in New York City. We'll
get to the massive trade that has has been has
been made between the Mavericks and the Knicks at a moment.
First of all, let's welcome in the New York Giants
running back number two overall, picking out Pepsi Rookie of
(43:43):
the Year Sae Kwon Barkley s Kuan. What's it mean
to be the People's champ? You know it's crazy. Um,
It's it's crazy. Um. The the year flew by. Um.
You know I can remember the training in common getting
ready for to combine prep um and uh to Winness
Award and and be my mentioning with outstanding rookies and
the Baker mayfields of the world that the Philip lindsays
(44:04):
of the world that shoves of the world. Um, it's
truly honor and um. You know, I gotta say thank
you to fans because the fans voted me in um
and uh so I definitely got to say think to them,
and I think to my teammates and uh the coaches
and uh just Giants organization as a whole um of
putting me in position to be successful and uh to
to achieve this award you mentioned. Baker doesn't make up
(44:26):
for not winning the hisman, uh does doesn't make up
for not winning the Higsman. Uh you know the hides
in the past. Man he deserved that he was the
best player in college football. I think Baker was great, Okay,
but let me kind of make the argument. All right,
So the Baker does it great. Kyler Murray in the
same offense wins the same thing right there, and they're
(44:48):
in a offense heavy league. Right here, you are in
the Big Tent and you are senior. You're in the
Big tend, I mean the Big ten, unbelievable league, and
you're the best running back in college football when the
sport has kind of moved to quarterbacks and all these
kind of ridiculous numbers that are pumped up because more possessions,
more plays you can run. These r p o s
were offensive link and block three yards down field, like
(45:10):
in your heart of hearts when the announcement came in
New York, did you you had to think you were
the best player in college football? Right? Yeah? Obviously I
believe I was the best player in college football. But um,
I wasn't invited to the hides and ceremonies. UM. I
feel like out of those those three that was there,
Bigger Biger was the best, and he had a tremendous year. Um.
That's the only thing. I mean even I think that
year just away we finished off as a team. We
(45:34):
didn't finish off too strong that year, and that's a
that's a that's a big indicator. Who when the hydsman
off was also too So I was shot that wasn't invited. Um,
But I wasn't shot at that broker one. Um. And
Baker Baker's one of my good friends that we gotta
bet for another award coming up coming up to UM.
And you know, I'm happy for him and proud of
what he did for the Cleveland Browns this year. Okay, Um,
(45:55):
you're playing in New York and it's a fish bowl,
and there's obviously there's a lot of talk when you
were select it. Oh they should have dropped the quarterback
and they should move on from Eli Manning. And what's like, Listen,
one of the things everyone says about you is you
have incredible awareness, not just in terms of your wearinges
from football peep, but at personal awareness. When you hear
all these things, what's I feel like to you? I mean,
(46:16):
it's you know, I don't try to read too deep
into it, um, but you know, obviously just I'm passionate
about the game, and I'm passionate about my teammates. Um.
And when people talk bad about my teammates, Uh, you know,
I really don't like that. And um so when when
people bast talk Eli Manning and it's just not it's
not fair because he's a quarterback in the New York
market for the Giants, um, and everything's blamed on him.
(46:37):
And oh now we need to move off. We need
to move away from Elie. Why if you go back
and you watch film and you actually study football, we
lost eight games equivalent seven points or less. And that's
just the NFL, to be honest, as always gonna be
tight games. But it wasn't him. He wasn't reason why
we were losing the games. We as a team we
weren't find a way to finish games. We start doing
(46:58):
that a little bit more and it set gonna happen
to you. But we as a team were final way
to finish games. So we as a team got to
find a way and the next year to finish game
and start off way strongly than we did in previous year.
Pep's the NFL Rookie of the Year. Se Kawon Barkley
joining US Dog gotlip Show Fox Sports Tradeer. You have
this amazing ability you at Defense State and you did
it in college like some guys, some guys have to evolve,
(47:19):
and I'm sure you're gonna involve more. Obviously a great
pass catcher as well, but you're you have these You
get a one yard run and two yard run, two
yard rud're like man his yard to per carry and
then all of a a sudden fifty yards Like you have
this ability to to to all of a sudden see
something that other people miss and I've I've seen it.
When you're wired for sound, where you're where you're telling
the offensive line, you just keep pushing. I I see it,
(47:41):
I see it. How what's that come from? Your ability
to have these huge home runs? Because there's not. I
can't think of anybody else who's a running back in
football who has that home run hitting ability the way
you do. UM, it comes from trust. UM first comes
to trust in the off of the line and in
the system. Uh. You gotta trust that the coaches are
gonna put you in the right position. UM. They're They're
(48:03):
not just calling the player just to call a play.
It's it's the calm plays is supposed to work. Um. Uh.
And then then you gotta trust yourself that you can
make the moves and you can make that person miss
when you get the opportunity that you can break and
you can make that long touchdown run. UM. And where
I think I gotta get better in which I believe
if you put on film the second half of the year,
when Coach Herman challenged me to get better at this,
(48:24):
UM's take the oly yards and I think I did
a really good job. And then when I was able to,
when I start doing that, UM taking the more dirty runs,
as he said, UM, what does that mean? That means
just like pushing the pile and trying to get two
or three or four, trying to get the home run. Something.
My best attribute for me as a player is my confidence.
My worst attribute for me as a player, it's my confidence.
(48:45):
Uh So sometimes I believe in myself and every time
I touched the ball, I firmly believe. And I'm not
the same this because I'm on radio or TV or
cameras on me. I believe every time I touch the ball,
I'm capable of scoring. Um. I believe that's one of
my skill sets that I have. And I think that
I've shown that if you you you make a mistake
or you don't feel your gap the right way, it
could be eighty year, could be sixty like that. Um,
(49:06):
but that's right. I get better taking a dirty runs,
put my head in the piddle, getting three, get into four,
and that's gonna set up in the fourth fourth quarter.
They they're not gonna want to attack you. Um. And
I figured that out. Um. I did that a lot
better than the second half of the year. UM. And
that's when my rushing numbers got a lot better and
we start being more productive as a team. Last thing,
you are a beast in the weight room. You're like,
what do you? What did you what's the most you've
(49:28):
ever squatted? Uh? Squad, So we do like are we didn't.
We never did one rep match. But like, so calculation
would be like six fifty. But me personally, I would
say anywhere from six fifty to seven hundred. I'm a
big believer. If it's one rep you you put in
my back on my back from any from seven hundred,
I think I can get it up. Okay. So I
have a son nine years old football player. When did
(49:50):
you start lifting? Fifteen fourteen? I lifted like I was
in and out of the weight run. But I fully
commit myself until I was fifteen. Um, sophomore, you're going
to my junior Um. I know some some people say
you don't want to live too early. UM, So that
that was advice I would get to your son. I
would say, obviously, stay away from that because it's not
good for your joints. UM. But I could be completely wrong.
(50:10):
You know that's something that I've just heard. UM. But
for me, I didn't really get committed to I was
like fifteen sixteen, and when I got committed, everything skyrocket
though it's just uh my my strength, my balance, my flexibility, um,
the things I was able to do in the field.
And I'm a firm believer of what you're doing away
from translates to the football field. Alright, last one because
I gotta let you go. You you have this aura
(50:30):
about you that you've had since college. You have now
of being humble. It doesn't Having sat in the seat
for fifteen years, I can tell you that a lot
of times the guy's rookie year, they're still really humble.
And sometimes guys stay that way, sometimes they don't. How
are you going to maintain this balance as you get
awards like the PEPSI Rookie the Year award heaped at you. Yeah, Um,
just being who you are, just saying true to yourself. Um,
(50:52):
that's not I'm never gonna change. And uh, my mom
and I'm thankful and fortunate to have my mom and
my dad in my life. My mom and dad wouldn't
let me change. Um, and I do want, you know,
doing to clear everyone. You know, I believe like that
I'm humble, but uh, they think like I'm like not
confident at all. I'm very confident of myself. I'm very
confident in my game. Um, I'm very confident I'm be
(51:12):
able to do on a football field. Um, but I
know how to handle myself. I know how I was
raised and I wasn't raised to be arrogant and to
be flashy, and that's just not what I was made
up of. And so that's why I said, you say,
what's the best way to keep yourself the same? It's
staying true to you are and having the people surrounding
yourself with people who's gonna, yeah, surrounding and sol with
(51:32):
people who's gonna look in your eye and tell you
that you know what you're changing, get back to, get
back to where you need straight en up. And I
have that. Um, I have that, and I'm thankful when
and blessed to have that in my life. Congratulations and
winning the two thousand and eighteen PEPSI Rookie of the
Year Award. Really appreciate your spend some doubles. Yeah, thanks,
pleas yours mind say on sake on Barkley joining us
here on the Doug Gotlip Show on Fox Sports Radio.
(51:55):
Man Well, and and then how about this this trade.
I mean, it's sake and out and I and I
can't sit there and plug him about nick stop, but
we will react to it. React to that trade. Um,

Stuck gotta leave show here on Fox Sports Radio. And uh,
(54:27):
he's been synonymous with winning football game. It's really amazing
what the Patriots done right. Like if you you don't
value a kicker until you don't have one, it's college
football obviously. Um, you know I got him an Oklahoma
State alum, and so you know, we've been pretty fortunate.
One day. Once Dan Billy left, you like, man, that
was a lot easier. Obviously. You know Texas A and
(54:50):
M they had they had one who is now with
the Baltimore Ravens. Pretty good. Adam been Terry joins us.
And it's pretty amazing that you're in New England, you
go to India and gos Kyle. Obviously he struggled last
year in this game. It wasn't as good as normally
as this game. But for the Patriots to go from
Hall of Famer to Hall of famer, Uh, it's kind
of kind of remarkable. Take me back, I don't even remember.
(55:12):
How did you become a Patriot? I signed in I
played at South Dakota State, went and played one season
in the NFL Europe. You know the in Amsterdam, Stritsterdam
Admirals and they sober was that team. I think we
would have been a lot better if it wasn't in Amsterdam,
but uh is what it is. I guess at that
point probably probably a little bit of that there's a
(55:38):
little of strange booze smell and other stuff smell in
the locker room at times, but no, you know. And
then coming from there, um, Matt Barr was the kicker
in New England for Bill Parcels. Didn't do much kickoff
stuff anymore, so they brought me in to kind of
be a kickoff leg and and I did really well
at that and and started kicking field goals and they said,
(55:58):
you know what, We're gonna let mcbargo and see if
this it can do it all And kind of was
a little bit of a rocky start to start off,
but then it was kind of just took off in
smooth silans. Um. Well, obviously, I would say a lot
of people talk about the biggest kicks. You want Super
Bowls with your kicks. I kind of think tuck rule
game in that snow was and and does is it
too cheesy? Too cliche to say? It comes from growing
(56:20):
up in South Dakota, Like, did you had you kicked
in that type of weather? Um, you know there was
there's obviously crummy weather up there, and some games like that,
I don't think you can ever really be prepared. Oh yeah,
this is a you know, there's six inches of snow
on the game and it's a full on blizzard. But
I got this and no problem forty yard or into
the snow whatever. But um, yeah, you know, I think
being in lousy conditions and and and to credit Bill Belichick,
(56:44):
I mean we were outside every single day. I mean,
re practice out there as long as as long as
it was physically possible. We practice in snow and rain
and all that stuff. And that's probably why they're so
good at playing in lousy weather, because it just is
just part of the deal. Um, what's it like to
watch a team that probably, I'm sure someone in your
heart be like I should still be kicking for them? Right?
Is there any of that? No, not anymore? You know.
(57:06):
It was one of those I'm very pleased that I
went to Indie One. I did, and it's been a
great run. I gotta play with all their superstar Hall
of famers there too. You know, the the Peyton Mannings
and all in the in the Marvs and the Redgies
and all that stuff too. So I look back and
I'm proud of the time that I spent in New
England and what we accomplished. There a lot of great
(57:26):
former teammates that are still really really good friends of
mine doing a lot of this TV stuff now actually,
but we we put a good product on the field
back then, and and and beating the greatest show on
turf that first one, and then running two out of
three more, you know, it was it was it was
pretty impressive. What what's it like to line up? I'm
like Carolina game for example, what's it like to line
(57:46):
up and have to do your job but know that
if you do your job, you win a super Bowl?
It's awesome. I mean, it's one of those things. As
a kid you dream about that and you just dream
of that situation and expect to make it, and then
you get into the situation and go, hey, I'm still
gonna make this kick man, you know, and then it's
and then it's great, you know, but so okay, so
so which kick give me? Give me one that you
(58:08):
can you can draw back on, because you you you won.
You have several rings, So which one is most prominent
in your mind? Um? Probably the first Super Bowl is
the one that always stays. Okay, So it's in New Orleans. Um,
we remember greatest show on turf. We remember like my
personal memories of it where it was the first time
that you guys decided to be an introduced as a team, right,
(58:29):
and the rams come out individuals and it's like now
they doing a pages like wait, what We've never seen
that before. Uh? The kick was how how long? Forty yards? Okay? So,
which is no chip shot? Right, because forty and in
for most of you guys, ninety five percent, right, if
everything goes right, forty five to fifty. Even though it's
in a dome, domes still easier obviously. So, uh, do
(58:51):
you remember running on the field? What was what was
going through your mind when it was like, oh yeah, well,
usually when we're on the sideline, you know, it's kind
of like we've got leprosy or something. Nobody wants to
talk to you'd be around you, any of that stuff.
Ken Walters was over there a little bit with me
and and we we're watching as I'm warming up in
the net, we're watching on the big screen, as as
Tom and the boys kind of just keep moving down
(59:12):
the field. Jr. Redmond and and and and uh um
Troy Brown. They made some big plays to kind of
get us down there, and and we're just as we're
watching time to come onto the field. And and then
once we trot out there, it's just kind of everything
slows down. It's almost, you know, like you see in
the movies when it's almost slow mo and really quiet.
It's kind of the way it did. You know, you're
you're so focused in on what you have to do
(59:35):
that you lose track of, Oh, it's the super Bowl
and all this noise and all that stuff. You really
have to I mean, if you get caught up in
all the emotion, you're not focusing on what you need
to do. But it was, it was. It was one
of those things. I remember Rod Rutledge was one of
our our tight ends, and he was on the side
and he's he's John with dre bla hey Man and
and I just remember, you're thinking, shut up and get
(59:56):
set so we can get going, you know, and and
Kenny yell at him, and and then we just took
our steps back and I just remember going through the ball.
I when I when I hit it, I was like,
that felt really good and felt like it's supposed to feel.
And when I looked up and I saw it going,
you know, I mean you can tell if it's close
to the upright your hole in your breath, but this
one was piped, I mean right down the middle. And
(01:00:17):
and then when it left my foot and I looked up,
I'm like, oh my god, we just won, you know,
and it was it was I still I I still
get it just seventeen years ago, but it doesn't feel
like it was that long ago. You know. Yeah, yeah, uh,
your longevity is amazing. You shaved your beard. People obviously
can't see it being on radio, but you did. It
(01:00:39):
was I remember watching you play in the playoffs and like,
why is that Grandpa? That was my My son was like,
why is that old? Who's that old guy in the sun?
I was like, don't say old guy. That is adamant here.
He is the best of the best. He's like okay,
um uh so tell me why why why have the beard? Well,
you know, I did the old no shave November and
and I kind of I kind of like the salty
(01:01:01):
gray when it's not supposed to be. I thought it
was supposed to be the ill that maybe that I'll
just do that next year. I don't. I don't know.
But started with the with the whole growth and trimmed
it up a little bit, and then all of a sudden,
November is over. My wife says, you're getting rid of it.
I said, uh, And so I just I just kept
rolling with it. So once the playoffs were done and
we were out, she said, all right, it's time to
(01:01:22):
get your big hunter of fisherman like that, shouldn't you
That feels like postseason. You should have that beard in
a tree stand. I'm telling you up in up in
India right now it's like forty below. I should have
the beard right now for sure. Um, okay, So tell
them about uh omni. Yeah, this is the this is
(01:01:43):
when you pick out well it is. Yeah, it's it's
a it's an anti um heartburn medication. You know. Super
Bowl I know I do. I let it kind of
loose on Super Bowl. There's all the fried food and
the and the junk food that you eat and the
stress of the game. People start getting some heartburning. If
you're a person that it's his frequent heartburn type situation.
All members al O d T is is what you need.
(01:02:04):
It's it's identical um. Identical medication is some of the
bigger brand stuff, the privost second stuff. This is just
the store brand. It's about less expensive. So it's a
it's a good thing for anybody that has frequent heartburn.
And if for more information go to Dissolve your heartburn
dot com. Dissolve your heartburn dot com real quick. Um.
(01:02:27):
You're also I mentioned big game hunter. Um you get
your own ranch, the record breaking ranch uh in Missouri. Sir,
Your your favorite hunting story is what like when somebody goes, hey, man,
tell me your favorite hun Oh boy, that's hard because
there's been so So my thing is is it's the
moments that you're out there. Right. So a lot of
the times are with my dad or with my brothers
(01:02:49):
or whatever. But I remember being up in the Arctic, um,
the Arctic, Yeah, on a musk ox side, and that's
one of those extreme hunts that it's yes, it's what.
It sounds kind of like a really really harry buffalo,
really long hair on them. And so we're up there
on that hunt and and it's just just the the location.
You know, we're literally landing on this little town that's
(01:03:12):
right on the Arctic Ocean, and we go across the
Arctic Ocean on snowmobiles on the ice, and then we
go up on these bluffs and all that. It's just
I don't know if I have one moment, because there's
so many great times, but times like that where you're
going to a place that you would never experience unless
you're you're doing something like that. But come check out
the ranch, and people need to check it out, record
(01:03:32):
breaking ranch in Missouri. They can go on the website
and find it on on the website, book a hunt
and come on out and have good time. How are
you gonna do this for We'll see. I don't know.
I don't have a time for you, honestly. You know,
every year I've I've always kind of given the you know,
one year at a time and see where it ends up.
If it's if it's my time, if if I feel
like I'm not putting the same product on the field,
(01:03:53):
if my body's starting to aches and pains too much,
or whatever, maybe that's the time. But right now, I'm
I still love it as much as I ever have
I mean, I don't. I think there would be a
lot of people that would argue with me if I said,
you're the best kicker to ever do it. Congrats on
such an incredible career. Continued success to you and healthy
you enjoy your off season. Thanks for joining us, Thank you,
thanks for having me on. Appreciate your great the great
adamant Arry joining us on the Doug Otlive Show on
(01:04:14):
Fox Sports Radio. Let's get you over to Dan Buyer
where you trade in the in the NBA. Go ahead, honestly,
right now, the NBA is kind of taking over the
NFL this week. Now he's talking about the game. It's
all about Anthony Davis. Let me get the page chance
in the game again. The page. It's it's amazing. We're
(01:04:37):
talking Knicks MAV's. You got that right. Multiple reports saying
the Knicks are sending forward Chris stops Porzingiz to the
Dallas Mavericks and the deal that his point guard Dennis
sm Jr. Heading to New York. The Knicks will also
receive Wesley Matthews in DeAndre Jordan. As part of the deal,
Dallas would get Tim Hardaway Jr. And Courtney Lee. ESPN
(01:04:57):
says there could be draft picks involved as all, but
Chris stops Porzingis. It all started earlier today when there
was a report that he went and told the next
front office didn't like where the team was going and
kind of wanted to be traded. Your wish is granted
that Kris stops Porzingis going to the Mavericks. According to
reports and this from the Athletic Instadium Sports, Porzingis would
(01:05:18):
sign his qualifying offer, meaning well, he'll play next season
for the Dallas Mavericks. There's that. Even though they can't
trade for Anthony Davis until July one. ESPN says the
Celtics till the Pelicans, everyone on the roster is available
except Kyrie Irving. LA Times says the Lakers have given
the Pelicans five different trade scenarios for Anthony Davis. Cowboys
officially named Kellen Moore's the team's offensive coordinator, John Kitness
(01:05:41):
serves as the team's quarterbacks coach. Reports A Jerry Jones
won't extend the contract of head coach Jason Garrett, who
has one year left on his deal. The n c
Double A placed the Missouri football program along with their
baseball and softball programs and three years probation, including a
one year postseason banded because of academic misconduct involving a
tutor for agent fielder Brice Harper. Going to meet with
the Padres later this week, according to Ken Rosenthal. And
(01:06:04):
at the way management open, Justin Thomas and Mickey Fowler
lead at seven under par. We'll be back to the
Doug Gottlieb Show live from Super Bowl fifty three and
ten seconds. But first still word from farmers from a
dog accidentally flooding a living room to a dog taking
a joy ride. We've covered it, talked to farmers. We
know a thing or two because we've seen a thing
or two. We are farmers under written my Farmers truck
(01:06:26):
Fire Insurance Exchange then affiliates products unavailable in every state.
Doug Gottlieb Show, Fox Sports Radio. So here's the kind
of breakdown of the deal, right, The breakdown of the
trade is, uh, fairly simple. Um. Christos per Zingis is
the biggest name, and you know he called me Unicorn
(01:06:47):
back when he was playing. Of course, torp his knee
last year. It's a twenty three game guy in only
his third season at seven foot three, remarkable inside out talent.
Yeah to that. Tim Hardaway Jr. Not a great country act,
but not the worst contract ever a couple of years left,
and and Courtney Lee, a guy who started for some teams,
more of a bench player, as well as Trade Burke's
(01:07:07):
kind of a throw in on on the deal. So
they all go to the Dallas Mavericks. Of course, um,
the Dallas Mavericks lose DeAndre Jordan's but they which is
their kind of rim protector. But he's just a non
offensive player at center. And so now you have the
chance to have Luca don Chick, who's the likely rookie
(01:07:28):
of the year, play with Kris stops perzingis like that
is that's that's pretty nasty, pretty nasty. Tannement nicknamed that
team the European Vacation. I think that that would be right.
Do you like that? Maybe European Vacation right movie? I've
seen it, Rusty, Sure, Yeah, I like it. I like
russ Um big Ben Parliament, big Ben Parliament, big Ben Parliament.
(01:07:54):
The Knicks get Dennis Smith Jr. Who I don't think
the world of and neither did the Mavericks. And the
next remember they took Milikia ahead of him. Yeah, I
mean I think he's I think he's a Some of
this is throw ins on the deal, right, So they
wanted the Knicks wanted the expiring contracts, and um uh,
it's his likely first round pick, but we don't know
(01:08:14):
what year that is. Because they want they have their number,
they have their first round pick, and now they have
the ability to create clear out space for two max
contract guys. So if they're getting Kevin Durant, if they
think they're gonna get Kevin Durant, and they get one
of the player like a Jimmy Butler, and then they
could draft a Zion Williamson or an R. J. Barrett
(01:08:36):
like all of a sudden, Now the Knicks are back.
But that's a big if. And I think initially you
were like, wow, why are they trading Chris Stops Porzingis?
He's the only good player they have. But it's for
every reason that you just said, Plus would you want
to give Porzingis a Max deal coming off of the
injury that he has and who knows, I mean, who
(01:08:59):
knows how the ceiling is? You said he's only played
a hundred and what eighty games in the games, Yeah,
hundering sixty eight games, so that's two plus seasons barely.
So would you rather take a proven free agent that
you can give a max contract tours you rather give
to Porzingis where there are question marks And it's not
like giving a max guy that you've had in your
program for four years, because you've only had him there
(01:09:20):
for two to three years. So it's it's different. So
now you're seeing to what, to your point of maybe
why this is more of a better deal for the
next than originally thought. Yeah, I mean, I I would
say this. Also, remember Perzingis was not drafted by this regime.
It was by Phil Jackson's regime, So I think some
of that it plays at least a marginal factor in it.
(01:09:42):
I also think that Perzingis didn't feel like he was
part of David Filsdale's plan, right, and he just didn't
um and the thoughts the openly opining for Kevin Durant
when Pristingiz has he's not Kevin Durant, but there is
that you know it'll be if Durant does in fact
pull off that move, it becomes his team kind of immediately.
And I don't know how Ali jobs with it, And
(01:10:03):
pricing is a hard one because he's really not a
great rim protector, but he also can't really cover out
in the floor. He's pretty good rim protector, but not great.
On the other hand, he stretches out the defense so
much it's such an offensive weapon. Yeah right, music, doesn't
this sort of feel just like a total boom or
bust for the Knicks, Like, obviously, if it's if you
get Durant, that sounds great, but like we all tend
(01:10:28):
to agree that Jimmy Butler, with his attitude and the
way that he's played with other teams, Like, if you
end up with Jimmy Butler as your max player and
you've given up everything else and then who knows what
they're then second max player is, doesn't it sort of
seem like they're gonna end up even further back just
in irrelevance, Like it seems like they're the hope was
(01:10:51):
there and now it's either you're gonna get Durant and
the franchise is saved, or you're just gonna be completely
mediocre or bad for another five years. Yeah, yes, to
answer your question for like, yes, I look, I wouldn't
shock me if they moved Dennis Smith again anyway, Right,
I mean, um, there are some that let's still like
his talent. We'll we'll, we'll see. But yes, it's a
(01:11:12):
it's a boom er bust and and and boom or
bust isn't fifty fifty's let's get this straight. Boom is
top three in your conference. So there's six booms. You
want to be eighth in a in a conference. But
but you went on, you went from third to eight. Like, look,
if they get k D and they get k D,
regardless of whether or not it works out, it's a boom.
(01:11:34):
That's it. It's a boom. If they get k D
and the number one overall pick now, like now, it's
crazy if they don't. If you don't get one of
the top five, top five guys in the NBA or
you know, Kevin Rance right there among the best players,
if they get him, then it's a boom, regardless of
whether or not they finished third, second, first, whatever, If
they finished fifth, you have Kevin Durant, you know, in
(01:11:57):
terms of the plan and execution to and it makes sense.
Well I I just look at it this way is
you can't get stuck in the middle. So that would
have been one of the options that maybe you would
have had if you could only bring in one free
agent with Porzingis already being there. This way, it clears
the way to get to where you're trying to shoot
(01:12:17):
for the moon. And if it doesn't hit. And I
know you think that five is great, I think top
three at least get home court in the first round,
especially in the East. That's where I think that you
can you can figure out if it's a boom or bust.
But bust is from fifteen in my mind all the
way up to five, because that's where top four is
really where you make your hay in the NBA. Okay,
(01:12:38):
what about if they go with a longer term plan
and it's Jimmy Butler this offseason, no Kevin Durant. But
then somehow Anthony Davis in Jimmy Butler makes me sick.
If it hasn't worked three other places, why would it
work in New York? Um? Right? Yeah? I mean, like, look,
(01:13:00):
and here's a little nugget that a friend of mine
the NBA told me DeAndre Jordan's and Kevin Durant best
friends work out together and he could resign with the
Knicks for a lesser deal and remain there so they'd
be fascinating, fascinating, and of course they're gonna try and
recruit Kyrie Irving. You get Kyrie Irving, you get Kevin Durant,
(01:13:23):
you got DeAndre Dortan, you got yourself in squad and
other legit players. Yes, yes, but they're swaying for the fences.
They're doing the Aron Judge, Aaron Judge and Stuck got

at some point I think we're gonna become colleagues. I mean,
that's actually, that's actually our hope at Fox Sports as
because it is the best in terms of combination of
a guy ability to do it on the field and
then with a microphone in front of him is Greg
Olson at the Carolina Panthers joints. U Um, all right,
what's give me the health update? Well, as you can see,
(01:14:47):
I'm in a walking boot, so not ideal for Super
Bowl week walking around to play or walk around, but uh,
you know I'm doing well. It's seven weeks post surgery.
I had it fixed again for the second time now
and you know, hopefully this is this is the X.
And it's been a frustrating two seasons now dealing with
this injury. But as we all know that sometimes the
nature of the game, and as disappointing as it's been,
(01:15:09):
as frustrating as it's been, I've also been very fortunate
in my twelve years. This is a relatively minor injury. Um,
although frustrating, so UM, I'm gonna be all right. All right,
When when you're like, look, when you're going through the rehab,
do you do you do you ever get to that
point you're like, I'm good, Like I could, I could
not really rehab? Or is or is this still the
(01:15:30):
drive to get back to where you were? You know?
I think an element of your mind is, hey, I'd
love to go out on better terms, right, I mean
to to play ten years and have success and have
longevity and consistency and durability all those things, and then
the last two seasons to be plagued by such a frustrating,
stupid little broken bone. Uh, it would be a hard
way to go out. So you know that that kind
of keeps me motivated. I still know I can play
(01:15:51):
at a high level. I know what if I can
just keep the foot right, I know how the rest
of me is still, you know, relatively in good shape
considering my age. So you know, it's one of those things.
And some days getting up to do do do rehab
stinks and it's frustrating, its pain, but it's uh, you
have to keep things in perspective. I've been very lucky
throughout my career, and you know this, If this is
the biggest thing I have to worry about, I've been
(01:16:12):
I've been blessed. I'm I don't know, but I'm gonna
hypothesize for a second. Okay, um Cam had his shoulder.
It worked on last week when I hear the team
doctor performed it. Now, listen, I'm sure team doctors are
really really good, but it was a major deal with
the with the rotator cuff. You go to Dr James Andrews.
You go to one of the best, the best. If
(01:16:33):
it's just something to clean up that they feel like
anybody can hand. Is that Is that a reasonable way
to look at it? Or you know, I think those
days of just having to go to one doctor, I
think you're kind of coming to an end a little bit.
I'll be honest with you. I think you hear more
and more guys throughout the league. You know, I think five, six,
ten years ago everyone went to Andrews for this or
this guy for this. I think more and more guys
now are specialized like Andrews was ten years ago, and
(01:16:56):
some of these other doctors are our team doctor. Dr
Connor is fantastic. He has done surgery on Luke Kikley,
has done surgery on Ryan Cley. I mean, he's done
surgery and some of our best players we've ever had.
So I think there's a lot of confidence in his ability.
And I think there was also the element to your
point that what that what Cam needed was not overly
at least to what everyone said into our knowledge is
not like overly complicated. But you go from a guy
(01:17:17):
who has I mean, and I know there's different types
of arms, but in terms of arms strength, it's never
been a problem. Right, Like he has a and he's
one of the biggest human beings to ever ever play football,
and now of a sudden, like he really struggled to
throw the football last year, So how you know how
bad it was? No, I mean, none of us know
what that felt like. And Cam is not the personality
(01:17:39):
that wants to let everybody know how much he's struggling.
It's just not his personality. He's extremely tough, he's you know,
he's not looking to make excuses, he's not looking to
have easy ways out. You know, he fought through it
for for weeks and weeks and weeks, and you know
the reality is that a lot of guys in the
NFL go through that. But when you're the quarterback and
it's your right shoulder, you know, at at some point
there's only so many times you can kind of put
(01:18:00):
the band aid back on. And and it's just the
reality of it. Took a shot, you know, it was
kind of banged up, and hopefully what they did and
in an offseason protocol of getting the work he needs
and he'll come back, you know, ready to rock. Can
you believe c J. Anderson is doing this? It's crazy, right,
And and for him like and like, look, he joined
us and he has no ill will. He joined us
going back two days ago and he said, like, yeah, buddy,
(01:18:20):
Pappercenta has gone up. He's by a game. He said,
I gained like six seven pounds. Maybe I'm any more,
but to be to be in really good shape. And look,
Christian had a great year. It wasn't like you guys
didn't have a good running. I don't think it was.
I don't think at all it was a slight on
c J. I really don't. I think it got to
the point where Christian was durable, he didn't get hurt.
He was extremely productive. There was no area of the
(01:18:43):
offense that Christian didn't excel at. So we didn't take
him off the field too much. We did have some
packages where the two of them were on there together,
but at the time, and it's a slight to to
c J. A big part of CJ coming in his girl,
he's kind of been dinged up in his opportunities. With
those opportunities, he's maximized them. If he came in and
Gurley was playing every snap, who knows right, So much
(01:19:06):
of the NFL as opportunity, and the opportunity obviously wasn't
wasn't there. I think that was a slight on on
CJ by any means um and I think it was
the best play for him personally and everyone for him
to get to another team. And now look at him now.
So he's the one with the last laugh, right, And
it wasn't even a second team, it's his third team.
It's funny how things work out. It's crazy how things
(01:19:26):
about Greg Olson joining us on the Doug Gotlip Show
on Fox Sports. TRADEO, you said, twelve years in this league.
Can you believe that this guy has been in nine
Super Bowls. Like that's you know, I said to someone
the other day, I mean he has elevated slash created
more careers for that organization than maybe anyone in the history.
(01:19:47):
I mean, think of all the Super Bowl rings, the
Super Bowl appearances that that roster has had, not just
because of him. They've all obviously played their part and
they have a lot of mean, Gronkowski's a Hall of
Fame player. I mean, all these guys are great, but
he runs and this guy run this this guy is special.
And uh, I think it's a credit to to their
(01:20:09):
organization coming from a super Bowl and then seeing how
hard it is to continue that level that that level
of play year and year out. I've been there. It's
not easy. Um, you know what more can you say?
They're They're incredible, They're what they do is it grows
old on a lot of people. And listen, we all
are we're ready for someone new, but you also have
to take a step back, put your biases aside, and
just at least appreciate, knowing how hard it is, at
(01:20:31):
least appreciate what he's accomplished and what they have accomplished
as a team. Last thing, likelihood we see you on
a football field next year. You know, that's my plan
right now. And uh, you know, obviously, you know, you
never shut the door on any opportunities that come. We've
been very lucky to have these opportunities while I'm still
a player, both in the booth and in the studio. Um,
my mindset is getting my foot back and getting healthy
so that I can play at a high level and
(01:20:53):
I can play, you know, like I'm accustomed to. And uh,
for right now, that's kind of where my mind's at.
We're we're here in Atlanta at the home of Coca Coola,
and you're drinking a co Cola Classic, which is the best, right,
Like people like the Coke Zero people. Come on, if
you're just gott I just gotta do it, you know,
I just gotta. I'm with I'm with you as well.
But you also work with co Cola Consolidation, the largest
(01:21:14):
bottle and distributor of Coke Coola in the whole country
is actually up in Charlotte, and you know that. Yeah,
it's interesting. So they're they're the largest. They take care of,
like the whole Southie. It's a huge region that they
that they handle, and they've been a huge partner of
ours for for two years now and UH as part
of their Big Hearts Mini Cans program, which is a
community outreach program to highlight and recognize people's work in
(01:21:35):
the community. They've been a big partner of my community
work back up in the Charlotte region and across the country.
We just thought it made a lot of sense to
come down here share that message. Um, you know, kind
of share the program with everyone here, considering we're in
their own backyard. And UH, it's been a great week.
They've been a great partner and we've had a lot
of fun. Get healthy, seeing a football You got it,
thanks so much. Gotlive show rolls on here on Fox
(01:21:58):
Sports Radio. Oh what an incredible night as we we
we bid a dude to Greg Olsen and what's going
on in the NBA? Uh where this blockbuster trade? Christophs
prezingis sent to Dallas. Um, and like, look, without getting
into it, I mean basically, DeAndre Jordans comes over, Dennis
(01:22:19):
Smith comes over as well, and the ideas that Knicks
are going all in on they think they can sign
to max contract free agents. Then that scream for Kevin
Durant if they get Kevin Durant. It's worth it if
they get Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, it's it's an incredible
tip your cap. But man, is that risk reward? And
(01:22:42):
then and look, the question for Durant and for Kyrie
is many have tried. That's like looking up at that
mountain going like you want to climb that thing. Let
me tell you who's tried to climb that thing. Pat
Riley tried to climb that thing. Pat Ewing tried to
climb that thing. Lebron uh Larry Brown tried to climb
that thing. Amari Stoddard I tried to climb that thing.
Phil Jackson tried to climb that thing. Carmelo Anthony tried
(01:23:04):
to climb that thing. Penny Hardaway tried to climb that thing.
I could I could go through like there have been.
It's not like the Knicks. It's for lack of trying
to be bad. It's just nothing has worked. The closest
they got was in that one NBA Finals. Jeff Van
Gundhi is as well regarded to coach as you're going
to find. He tried to climb that mountain and all
(01:23:27):
of them failed. All of them failed. So I I
do wonder, you know, for Kevin durand a guy who's
had so many missteps on social media and at times
in the media, Like you're gonna be the guy that
goes to the Knicks, Like do you know how you're wired?
But whoever does it? Somebody of Ultimately, if you want
to say they'll never win, hey the Cubs were, they
(01:23:48):
never won and they want same thing for the Red Sox.

He's uh, first round Traffick and as signing of the
Oakland A's, and he also happens to be the reigning
Heisman Trophy winner. They won the Big Twelve. What an
(01:24:54):
incredible season for Kyler, Murray and Kyler thanks so much
for joining us. Look, you know, I just wonder when
you started as a freshman at at Texas A and M.
You lose your starting jab you decided to transfer out,
you know, in December of your freshman year, so you
knew you're gonna have to sit out. Do you ever
(01:25:16):
think you'd get to this level? You know when you
when you left Damam, you know you had to transfer
you Do you ever think you get to this point?
You know, I'd be lying to you if I said no. Uh.
I've always envisioned ever since, all the kid you know,
just no matter what sport it was, just you know,
for me, it's always you know, I wanted to do
something different, wanted to be you know, be different, um,
(01:25:37):
do something that's ever been done before. Uh. But as
far as the transfer thing goes, yes, I would say yes.
I mean I envisioned you know, all the success. You know,
thank God obviously you know for the abilities, but you
know I had great I had great coaches around me,
great teammates around me that you know obviously allowed me
to do my thing. But you know, sitting behind bake
um all that stuff, I think that just helped me out,
(01:25:57):
you know, tremendously. And uh, you know, winning the Heisman
and having no success we had was something that you know,
I always knew we were capable of. He joined me yesterday.
He said, if he runs, he'll run a four three.
I believe. So that's what That's what I tell people
when they asked me one other thing I'll run, I think,
I think, Uh, I think I run a four three,
(01:26:18):
four three in India, four three in Norman, because usually
Indie feels like it's a little bit slowly, like no, no no, no,
I come down. When I run on my home track,
it's a little it's it's a little faster. I think.
I think both. You never lost a game in high school, No, sir,
we lost. We lost the game before I became the starter,
and then I never lost. So we we lost. Who
(01:26:40):
would you lost? Him? We lost a cop hill at
third place and over time, so I guess you know
it was coming. No, don't tell me the story. He
was the backup at the time, the backup at the time,
sophomore season. Yeah, I just moved to the starter. My
boy Ali Oliver Pierce. He's a wrestler. I mean the
wrestling world may know who I'm talking about. Sure, um,
(01:27:01):
but so I was the backup. We go in to
cop Hill. They're good team. Solomon Thomas, uh he was.
He was, you know, the big guy on their team. Okay,
so so you you just moved there though, right from
what from what high school is Little Texas Leuis High School?
And then so how far move? Is that thirty minutes?
So did you have to actually physically do you actually
physically have to move like you'll move We had to
(01:27:21):
move houses? Yeah? And did you just move houses for
for because you're moving or for football? No, just to move. Yeah.
I had lived in Louisville my whole life. So so
you move and it's cop Hill, cop Heill, cop Hell
c O P P E L L O cop Hell. Yeah, okay,
I think, yeah, all right, sure whatever, And so you
(01:27:41):
go and you're playing on the road, losing overtime, were
losing overtime, which was kind of the you know, the
the end of you know, Okay, this kid needs to
you know, he knew he should be a starter. It
wasn't the best game of Oliver's career, but uh, I think, yeah,
I think he you know, rather played better than what
he did. Okay, so he didn't play well. And your
name the start your sophomore at the time. You wait,
(01:28:03):
how much? Shoot, I was probably one. I was probably
maybe one seventy maybe probably I was probably one sixties something.
I was. I was like fifteen years of two hundred
pounds right now. Okay, so you're so you're fifteen years old,
you're a hundred sixty seventy pounds in playing like legit
(01:28:23):
ball in Texas, and you're starting quarterback and you never
lost the game, never lost the game. Well, so I
mean obviously, yeah, junior year and senior year and I
mean I got bigger and stuff. So but yeah, the
sophomore year I was, I was fifteen, I was little
or as far as wait and stuff. Yeah, So what
was the closest you came to losing a game? Are we?
(01:28:44):
If you were from Texas, you know that. That's why
the legends so kind of it's kind of crazy because
we had so many clothes, like we what's the closest
you game. What's the one be like, Oh, here it
comes to an end. We were down one. Uh was
at the start of the fourth quarter teen seventeen or
twenty one. De Soto. De Soto's another high school in Texas,
(01:29:04):
and I mean, uh, what's the man's name? Played out
claim the state running back shoot played for the Lions
and some mother he was De Soto Techsontos gotta give us. Yeah, um,
I'll think of it all. Well, you know Chris Lacey's receiver,
well Chris Lacey, but before Chris Lacey. Uh shoot, just
you just keep telling the story. Okay, Yeah, no, we
awesome De Soto. We kind of had our I don't
(01:29:27):
want to say it wasn't a rivalry, but it became
kind of a thing. You know, we we met at
certain times in the playoffs, but you know, they never
beat us, so you know, I guess you can't call
it a rivalry if you never win. Tatum Bell, Tantum
Bell was the guy out that's before your time. Uh,
but yeah, Tatum Bell. Von Miller went to De Soto.
Marcus Murphy, Jalen Mills. It's pretty good, little, pretty good
(01:29:49):
little Patrick Crateton went there. Pretty good, little program. So
you're down twenty one the fourth quarter. I think it
was twenty one. There's videos on YouTube stuff like that
we were I mean there was just we were down
a lot and then we just come back in crazy fashion.
And I mean in Texas, it's it's a huge deal.
You've got millions of people, you know, not millions, but
thousands of people come to the high school games that
(01:30:10):
you know. I wish me personally, I wish that every
kid could, you know, go through what what Texas high
school football players go through it at a good school
because it's I don't know, I feel like it's life changing.
Kyla Murray joining us in the Dugout Lip Show on
Fox Sports. Ready, I would say life changing is the
opportunities in it right now. Yeah, I was told like, look,
you've always been a good baseball player, but last year
(01:30:31):
you blew up. Last year it changed. What would change
on the baseball field? Um, I think anybody who knows
they played, or anybody who's played two sports as far
as football and baseball, knows that. You know, I don't
spend as much time on the baseball fields. Is all
the other kids that play baseball year round and Um,
for me just I think you know, before this past season,
(01:30:52):
I went off to Cape Cod in the summer, uh
and played up there obviously the best of the best,
you know, college baseball, um up there for the summer
and I spent I spent like a month there. Uh.
And for me, that was really a confidence booster, just
because you know, like I said, you got the best
of the best. It's the pitchers. League pitchers are crazy
up there. Um. And to go up there and you know,
(01:31:12):
hang in when I'm not playing baseball, you know, as
much as they are, really gave me confidence. And uh,
you know, we had a coaching change as well at Oklahoma,
and uh, you know, they just put faith in me
and believed in me. And I think that's all I needed.
And then you know, this past season kind of just
I've always been I've always been good at baseball, but
I mean, you go to college as a different level.
You know. I went to A and M out of
(01:31:33):
high school. Uh. I left right after right before the
bull season, so I didn't get to play baseball. So
I hadn't played baseball and like a year and a
half when I got to tell you, and then I
had to sit that year. So Uh. It had been
a while since I played baseball, so it was a
struggle to get back into it. But at the end
of the day, it worked out. Where's your heart? I
love both and I mean that. Um I played boat
(01:31:56):
since I was four years old. Uh it. I don't
want to sound cocky or anything, but it would be
easier if I wasn't good you know at either what
you know, if if I didn't feel confident in myself
uh in either sport. But I do. And Uh, it's
it's stuff. Um Okay, So is it a is it
a financial decision? Like what's what? What will weigh? What?
(01:32:19):
What will tip the scales? Um? I don't I don't
want to say it's about I don't think it's a
financial decision. At the end of the day, I'm gonna
have to make a decision on what, you know, what
I feel is best. Uh. And that's just what it
comes down to. If people say it's too small, yeah,
I've heard it. I've heard it. Yeah, how how how
(01:32:40):
do you combat that? For I've heard people say I'm
five eight uh or you know, I've heard a lot
of people just who have never seen me or stood
next to me. Just I mean make these assumptions, which
is fine obviously everybodysna say what they want to say,
but um, I for me personally, I don't listen to it. Uh.
You know it is what it is. Uh. I mean,
(01:33:03):
if you can play, you can play. That's how I
see it. Donald, did Russell Wilson get this much scrutiny
when he was when he was coming out? Um, nobody
was a third round pick, right, So it really comes
down to he was the third round for the third round.
So for me, it's just because that's why. And now
everybody's like, wait a second, we missed on Russell Wilson.
We don't want to miss again, right, I wouldn't want
(01:33:24):
to miss on Russell Wilson and that that that that
helps you. My thing is, my thing is, and I've
been saying this before everybody else. I was like, look, baseball,
it's cool. You get a little money up front, but
then you're in the minors and you don't make even
in the majors. You don't make money until year five,
right where and that's year five of playing in the bigs.
Whereas in the NFL you make money right away and
you're in an NFL player right away and you start
(01:33:45):
your progress towards your next contract. By the way, and
if your first round pick that's all guaranteed money, that
has to be at least factor it on some level, right, Um,
I mean I guess, but it's not for me, Like
I want to be Happy'm gonna be happy with whatever
I do. Whatever I do, I'm gonna be happy and
I'm not gonna look back. But uh, you know, going
(01:34:07):
into it, I think there's a lot that factor into
the decision. But are you gonna make it? Yeah? Of course,
I mean there's people help them. I mean, I don't
get your mom's people. People. At the end of the day,
he's my own bunny. Best to do what you want
to do. Yeah, Missy, I I gotta, I gotta, Yeah,
I gotta. I see you in this this T shirt
here right here, Yeah, we gotta. We got a little
(01:34:29):
gift card from Mizzen and Maine for you. Isn't the Maine.
It's some good year right. Tebow wears it. Micholson wears it. Well,
crazy comfortable, comfortable. Uh you know it's actually had the
shirt because you do. It's funny because we got you know,
we I had this this shirt uh, stashed away in
the in the suitcase. You know, we flew out this morning,
but uh, you know I I opened the suitcase looking
(01:34:51):
for shirt or look, I had a couple of shirts
from Missing Main obviously because I'm here with them. But um,
there's no wrinkles in it. You know, you just get
it out and you just don't even have to. It's
also like, look, you're obviously stud athlete. It's also built
for athletic builds. Does know there's nothing worse than address
shirt than built for some skinny dudes. You know, I
(01:35:11):
hate being stiff in address shirt. Missing in Main. Of

And we'll get to while you're here. But um, does
I feel like you should be here? Yeah? I mean,
without a doubt, it's still a sick taste in my
mouth and uh, empty feeling in my stomach. But at
the end of the day, it's you got a man up. Um.
See what happened on film, whether it's something that you're
(01:37:19):
gonna cringe your teeth or whatever it may be, Uh,
man up and and find a way to get better
and better every single year. And that that's what I
feel like we've done in Kansas City is is every
single year we keep taking it up one more night,
no question. And you know, Pat, the probable m v
P of the league. You guys were guys were awesome. Um,
and you know you want a home game, first home win,
sin and but I look, I know it doesn't mean
(01:37:43):
much because you feel like you should be playing here.
But there's a lot of great things to take from. UM.
So let's let's get to what happened. You line up
first play and how are they covering you man to
man coverage? UM? And I think what they do best
is that they they really challenge the refs to make
those calls they bank on, they bank on all right,
we're gonna do this until the refs don't allow us
(01:38:05):
to do it. Um, in terms of their man coverage
and grabbing you and holding you and routes. Uh. And
and it just I mean, there's the five yard rule
or whatever it was. There was no five yard rule,
and it is what it is. I mean, as as
an offensive player, you see that on film, UM, But
being in the fire, it was a little bit different. UM.
(01:38:26):
And just trying to find a way to get open
for Pat knowing that he's getting a lot of pressure.
So it was it was it was a little bit
struggle to get it going. But I mean we got challenged,
but you had to know they're they're gonna double either
you or Tyreek. End up doubling Tyreek, right, and so
didn't they slide Gilmore was their best cover corner, but
a corner on you, Um, they started off with a
rookie um, and started to have a little bit of
(01:38:46):
success on that in the first half or in the
start of the second half, and then most of the
second half they sleep Gil more over on me. Okay,
so you guys going in at halftime and what were
the adjustments you guys be like, dude, I got a
rookie on just man No, just man man the hell up?
That's what it was. Who was listened to? This is
a physical game, Um, the refs aren't calling anything. Stopped
looking around and go out there and play our style
(01:39:07):
of football, physical football and just man up. And sure
enough that's uh that thirty two points on thirty one plays. Yeah,
I mean, so part of their game plan was to
play keep away, right, which what people used to do
to them kind of back back in the day. How
much do you think that threw you off that you
guys should start the game. You're hype, you're coming out
there beating that drum, right, and you're ready to go,
(01:39:28):
and you guys differ and they just kind of march
down the field. How much how much of that kind
of takes away and and maybe hurt you guys really
the game? Um, I mean there's definitely that to look at.
I think that was definitely one of their plans to
do that. I mean it was in the in the
Chargers game as well with the explosive offense. So I
mean you gotta definitely look at that. But at the
(01:39:48):
same time, I mean, the Juicers were flowing the entire game.
For me, I was I was excited and for the moment. Uh,
every single time we got there, I got out there
on the field. Uh, what was d like d Ford
like in the Locker Network? Man, he's uh, I think
he's still beating himself up on it, man, And it's
unfortunately he got a little bit more wrath for the
Pro Bowl. But whether he was four inches of foot
(01:40:10):
off the off sides, I mean, coach Read said it best.
We all could have been four inches to a footbetter
that game. Um, both in the first half, second half,
and uh, you know what, that's just how you gotta
take it. You gotta take it as that's my brother.
We uh were a team and for sixty minutes we
didn't play our best football. Travis Kelsey joining us in
the Dug Outlip Show here on Fox Sports Radio. All right,
let's talk about that dude, Pat Malves, Patty gigs Man. Uh,
(01:40:33):
he's it's it's the whole package is nuts. I mean nuts.
But it's one thing to have that kind of talent,
that prodigious arm talent, and he's he's athletic and he's
a good dude. It's all of them to put it
together week after week after week. What's this? What's it
been like to be a part of this offense? It's
so much fun, man. And when we see it going
(01:40:54):
in such a like the steep incline, I mean just
going through the roof. The guy's the limit for this thing. Um.
Having everyone healthy next year, I think we're gonna absolutely
come out and just and just rage. Uh. Sammy Watkins
was dealing with some stuff, still played absolutely great the
last two games of the season. Uh, dealing battle injury.
Guys had to get rid of kream. I mean that people.
People were get like, you have to get yourr running
(01:41:16):
back mid season. That derails most teams. It did not
for you, guys, No good. We were very fortunate to
have Damian Williams sitting right there to step up to
the plate. I mean he's absolutely one of my favorite teammates. Uh.
I was so happy for him to see the success
he had this season. Uh and finally get some notoriety.
But uh yeah, I mean just NonStop. Coach Reid does
an unbelievable job of challenging us every single week. So
(01:41:39):
I mean for him what happened with Kareem, uh to
challenge this team, not to let any of that distract
us on what we wanted to get done. Um, I
think a lot of credit goes to coach read. By
the way, we welcome Kanzie, chiefs tight end Travis Kelsey,
who's partnered up with Emergent Bio Solutions, the makers of
a take home nasal. Uh yeah. So so basically what
(01:42:01):
you've expressed explained to me is relaxing is if somebody's
suffering from an overdose of any kind, no just opioids,
so oh boids, which obviously there's a huge problem with
in our country. And so it's if you remember the
movie Pull Fiction when they had the epipin. This is
this instead of the epipin. Yes, and it's not just
(01:42:21):
I mean yes that that is the hardcore drug and
everything in the in the movie and all that, but
I think this is more so directed towards um the
uneducated um understanding of what the medicine opioids that are
being medically given to people because they need them, because
they're in pain of surge, post surge, stuff like that,
(01:42:42):
stuff like that, And it's a it's a crisis because
people just aren't that aware of what uh how much,
how much you can take as a human, just the
understanding of when the overdose happens and things like that.
And I think uh Emergent Bio Solutions has made this
product to where you can just put it in your
first aid kid, if you're taking these meds as a
friend or a family, uh is taking these meds being
(01:43:04):
having this right here just as like a safety valve,
and if anything happens to your family, you know you'll
be able. You'll at least have something that could save
a life. It's to be aware, be prepared, dot com.
Be aware, Be prepared dot com. Are you've done the
reality show? You've done commercials? A movie this offseason? Like
give me the give me the give me the t
L What I don't know if I'm a bit of
(01:43:24):
much of an actor. Man, I've never really wandered into
that realm. I tried to, I tried to immercial. Was
the commercial was pretty good there? I mean it was.
It was. I mean that you know, it was just
getting in the end zone and going nuts. Yes, but
then you have but then you have to do it
in a fake uh arrowhead environment. I'm with you on that.
(01:43:45):
It was. And I'll tell you what those guys did
an unbelievable job of of that thing look like arrowhead
because I mean, if you look on it, I mean
I think it looks. But also what about the store
that you were into? Right? So that's yeah? How about
that McDonald's has an entire store that just for their commercials.
That's nuts. I didn't not know that. Did you get
like a free I can get McDonald's anytime I want card. No,
(01:44:06):
I didn't ask for that one. But I do love
a good mcgriddle, a big better than the McRib. Mcgriddle
is the greatest sandwich ever. Oh man. And when they
put it on the all day menu, I like one
crazy yes, yes, no, there that's bigger griddle. And do fries.
You do the breakfast and the lunch. And then I
tell people all the time, listen, it's worth it. Tell
(01:44:27):
them I want hot fries with the extra extra salt
in there. I'll wait for the hot fries. I'm with
you on that one, all right, So no movie, no
reality show, maybe more commercials and make sure you go
to be aware of be prepared dot com. Dude, great season.
Obviously you feel like one play away, but it's not
like any you guys are old. Feels like maybe you'll
be back next year. Oh no, we'll definitely be back.
(01:44:48):
We're we're already fired up. Man. I've been talking to
the guys and share enough on Everyone's probably more motivated
right now than ever before. So thanks so much, Doug Man.
Travis Kelsey joining us on the Doug Gottli Show. Gottli,
let's get to Dan Buyer with quick up date but
go Yeah, it is the Gottlie Show and we've been
talking football and trade. The New York Knicks and Dallas
Mavericks close to finalizing their deal that will send forward
(01:45:10):
Christaps Porzingis to Dallas. As part of the deal, Dennis
Smith Jr. Will Be going to New York. Now the
Knicks will receive Wesley Matthews Junior DeAndre Jordan's in two
first round picks as part of the deal. Dallas also
getting Tim Hardaway Junior and Courtney Lee. That trade expected
to be finalized very soon. The Athletic reports that the
(01:45:31):
trade actually started to develop on Wednesday night, So maybe
it was then that the Knicks knew that didn't stops
play the Mavericks on Wednesday night. Um, I can't remember
what happened last night, and I don't drink Whoa whoa
Banking news. Yes, John Nixon listen to that was the
(01:45:58):
previous host. I uh, you know what, I you know
what happened last night? I watched some college hoops. What
is the Big twelve playing every night? I feel like
I'm watching the Big twelve always? He had Texas, he
had Kansas Texas on Tuesday. Big Ten's playing every night
of the week as well. But the point being, yeah,
I couldn't remember what happened necessarily in the NBA, but
(01:46:20):
a lot happening today. Nixon MAVs with that deal, sending
Christops Porzingis to Dallas. As for the Anthony Davis situation,
the only time saying that the Lakers offered the Pelicans
five different scenarios of players they'd like to give up
for Anthony Davis. Now the Pelicans are mulling those over Cowboys,
officially named Kelln Morris. The team's offensive coordinator. John Kittnes
serves as the team's quarterbacks coach, but Jason Garrett not
(01:46:43):
getting an extension as a head coach, so he entered
next year on the final year of his deal for
for the Bryce Harper meeting with the Padres later this week.
According to Ken Rosenthal of the MLB on Fox Justin
Thomas and Ricky follows show the leader of the waste
management open at seven under par and the apt warts
at the College Football Oversight Committee, we'll look in ato
making changes to the current overtime rules in college fool
(01:47:05):
this off season. Everybody thinks college football overtime is great.
It's stinks. Stinks. Let me let me, let me ahead. Okay,
I was gonna say. They may move the yard line
back instead of the twenty five, maybe you have to
start at the thirty five or forty. They also may
force teams to go for two automatically right from the
get go, instead of having two possessions of the football
(01:47:27):
before you end up doing that. Yeah, I mean, look, basically,
it's here's the basketball analogy that would be if we said, okay,
we're gonna play half court basketball from now on, and
then after the second overtime you can only shoot threes.
That's what it is, because you have to go for
two after two overtimes and you're only playing twenty five
(01:47:48):
yards in the field is a hundre yards long? That
is correct. This is the Doug Gottliche lit from Super
Bowl fifty three. We'll have more a dug in ten seconds.
For first, a word from farmers. From a dog accidentally
flooding a living room to a dog taking a joy ride,
we've covered it. Talk to farmers. We know a thing
or two because we've seen a thing or two. We
are farmers under my Farmers Truck Fire Insurance Exchange, then
(01:48:11):
affiliates products not available in every state. Stuck Gotlieve show.
You're on Fox Sports Radio and uh, sometimes somebody comes
up with a you know, to have stuff on diggs On.
You know he's got a pitch and you're like, I
wonder what it is, dude. This one's really easy for
me because it's great to pick up when you go
into Starbucks. It's a t Van or tivon. I just
(01:48:32):
gotta make sure I thought it was Tivanna, but I
didn't want to say that best Vanno be like, no, no,
it's it's Steve Tivana. Are you a nice tea guy?
Are you you're a coffee guy. I'm not a coffee guy.
Can't be a coffee guy. Are you a sweet team
You're not a sweet tea guy? Or plans a little
bit of a spice. I like the passion te one
that they have. Yes, yes, I'm a mango guy. Mango.
(01:48:52):
That's Stefon Diggs. He's joining us in the Doug Gotlip
Show on Fox Sports Radio. UM. I have a couple
of different words. I would think of or your season,
your team season, but I don't want to. I don't
want to cloud your brain, know, So how would you
characterize your season? Uh? We underachieved. We wanted more for
ourselves and we came out became out average because we
(01:49:15):
didn't do the things we were coached to do. Um,
we were bad in situational football. We didn't play our
best when the team when our best was needed, and
we made a lot of mistakes. It was more like
self inflicting, like penalties and stuff like that, stuff like
stuff that will get you beat and they got us
be we won games. We showed sparks, we showed that
we could be special, but we didn't. We didn't play critically. Um,
it's kind of a weird thing with Kirk's contract, where
(01:49:37):
because it was so big that regardless of he played well,
he didn't play well. And there are games that he
didn't play well. Um, he would get a ton of
the tons of the criticism. Um, how fair is that
you played with him? What was Kirk like in comparison
to you know the three or four you you guys
were kind of cycling through quarterbacks you've had four? What
was he like in comparison? Um, you, I'll give you
(01:50:00):
a problem example with the Patriots, you play well, the
quarterback gets all the love. You play bad. The quarterbacks
and our situation, you play bad, the quarterback gets all
the heat. So it's a double less sword. And you
know he's I feel like he's handled it greatly, and
he's handling it the best way he could because through
the good and the bad, you know, he would stay
the same guy. He prepared the same way. I was
with him every day and I saw him, Um, I
(01:50:21):
saw him prepared the same way, not if not even
more so. I know he's got a lot of fight
in him and he wants he wants, he wants to
play well. So what about you personally? How how would
you characterize your season? Um, I had a solid season.
I think I had. I think I had an okay year.
A lot of room. I have a lot of them
to grow. I think I can do. I can play
a lot better, um, and I think I can make
a lot more plays, you know. Uh, just I always
(01:50:43):
gotta remember, like I always, I got five different guys.
That's that's very talented in offense. Yeah, it's it's a
weird thing because you know, like, look you got Kyle Um,
he got Dalvin who people for who people sleep on
and look and he was coming off the A C
L while to get going. Yeah, and then you got
Adam on the other side, like you guys got you
guys got dudes. Um, and that's not even mentioned. There's
(01:51:03):
other wide receivers that you have, by the way, those
uh air Max those are those are out there all yours.
There are there are twelves, okay, those are those are
big time. Steve Stefan Dicks joining us on the Doug
Otlet Show on Fox Sports Radio. So how do you,
how do you process that? Like, look, man, I know
you think of yourself as a top five wide receiver
(01:51:24):
in the league. But you got Adam on the other side,
and you've got Kyle and you got Dalvin Um. So
in order for you guys to play well, sometimes you're
not gonna get it because there's always gonna be a guy,
an extra guy on your side. What does that like
to go? I've actually played well, just the opportunities went
elsewhere because the defense determined it. You gotta understand, Like, uh,
since I've been in I've been a team guy. You know.
I'm all about team success. So however it shakes out,
(01:51:44):
you know, I kind of just roll with the punches,
you know. But that's not a wide receiver's way. Most
wide receivers are like no, no no, no, I gotta get
my touches exactly like for me, Like, of course, every
receiver wants to buy. Everybody wants to catch a million passes.
But that's not my situation. I'm not. I don't play
somewhere where I'm the only guy, and it's kind of
like it's a good bad you know, I'm going to
take the good in the bed. You know, I checked
a lot of attention, double coverage. I remember we play Seattle,
(01:52:04):
I got triple coverage. I was like, I've never seen
nothing like it. But I feel like it's a lot
of respect. You know, I get a lot of respect.
I get guys best corner. You know. It's nothing knock
on me. It's just situational. So uh, I just got
roll with the punch. Stefan Dicks joining us in the
Dug Gotlip Show here on Fox Sports Trader thanks to
the folks have Tivana who have provided him with an
unlimited iron Your deal is unlimited supply of tea. Yeah,
(01:52:25):
like you you pop up in the trunk and they
actually put like a refrigerator in the house in the house. Yes,
you gotta have a your two story house in Minnesota, right,
so you gotta have the you gotta have the fridge
right next to the right next to the bed as well.
So you just open it up and you got your
machine in the house. I'm gonna see if we can
put something. I'm just I'm not rich, Well you're not,
(01:52:47):
you're not wealthy yet, but you're you're doing Okay. We
haven't gotten the big deal yet, right, I got it.
You got a good deal, but the next one should
be a ridiculous, crazier, crazy, crazy deal. Um, can you believe,
like Tom Brady has been in the Super Bowl nine
You know how hard this is? Right, Like you guys
were close last year and how hard is can you
imagine getting there nine times? Yeah? But I also think
(01:53:09):
about and this is nothing against anything in their conference,
but the NFC North is a is a tough well,
the North in general is tough, right right, whereas the
a f C East. I don't know, I don't know.
It's Booty, you're aware, We're aware, nevering against his success.
He's a great quarterback. They've had a great organization for
a very very long time. And you know they are
(01:53:30):
the team to beat everybody. Miami tries to beat him
every year, Buffalo tries to beat him every year. Counless
seams try to beat him every year. And you know,
they just do everything right. They just happen to you know,
they play situational football really really well. You know Tom
has done it for a very long time. You lead
the ball in his hands at the end of the game,
you know what happens. Um, you guys have gone through.
Now you're gonna have your third coordinator right in the
(01:53:50):
last couple of months, because oh yeah, I'm about to
say since I've been there, no no, no, yeah you
And this is not the first season that you guys
change coordinators mid season. Everybody I talked to in the
NFL says, look, the best way to do it is
you have continuity. Have the same guys. So everybody knows
how hard, how challenging is that going to be another
new system next season. It's tough, but at least we
got the same pieces. You know, you got the same
pieces of the puzzle. We've been working together. We know,
(01:54:12):
we know the things that we need to do to
you know, play well in critical situations. So we made
the mistakes as a unit. You know, it wasn't like
this piece wasn't here. We've all done this together. So
looking forward, we got a lot to build off of.
That's why I keep saying we got a lot to
build off of, because we do. And it's not just
you know, I don't just blow smoke. I kind of
keep things a hundred all around, so, uh, you kind
of got to in this league. You know, at the
end of the day, we got a lot to build
(01:54:33):
off of. Him we got enough talent. Can you tell
me a bad story about Kyle Rudolph. There's gotta be
something bad, right. He's like he's up for Man in
the year. He's got to think of the children's hospital.
He's got the babies he catches, touchdown passes like, he's
like this all around good guy. Give me some dirt on.
This is the dirtiest thing I got. It was one day.
(01:54:54):
I think it was my rookie or my second year.
Kyle came in and said, uh, he didn't even say
it was his birthday. So everybody I'm hearing from everybody
else that is Cole's birthday. Colleges faused so much on
the radar, and he's just he's just so much of
a bad person that he stayed too. He stayed to
hisself about his birthday. You mean good person, Yeah, that, yeah,
(01:55:17):
but I'm a bad person because he's suppos to tell
people about you. You're not supposed to tell people your birthday. What. No,
you absolutely don't tell people your birthday. I'm telling you
is my birthday? Your birthday November twenty nine. November twenty
nine is your birthday? Okay, So if you have a
package for Stefan Dicks. But you don't want to tell people.
You want people to time there, right, what if they
don't know is your birthday and you think your birthday
is gonna go to weight. This is a true story.
Tell your true story your birthday. Yes. So I've worked
(01:55:40):
at three networks and I'm not gonna tell you which
one it was. And I was here for five years
and I used to do this thing where I come
in and I worked every day on my birthday, and
never once did anybody go like, hey man, every birthday.
That makes you feel good? Though it does, but I
couldn't go like that's like I got asking for a compliment,
Like that's like that's like a girl going like how
(01:56:02):
do I look? Oh, you look great, you know? Or
do I look fat? These fans like no, no, no no,
you look amazing. You know. It's my birthday today for
all the miss birthdays, Happy birthday to you. And I'm
gave you. I gotta, I gotta. I got a birthday
present for you. I got some gift cards from Tivana
to give it to you for Star. But we're in
pick up some Savona crafty of course. The great Stefon Diggs.
(01:56:24):
Thanks so much for joining us, all right, tell Stefan
Diggs join us here. Always fun to catch up with him,
and I look fully accountable, like we just weren't good enough.
We didn't do the little things. And it does feel
like a year uh in which you know, next when when? When?
Last year? Probably, I mean, obviously it was a miracle
to beat the Saints, but considering, you know, the injuries
(01:56:46):
they had with running back and a quarterback to get
as far as they did, they might have fooled themselves
this year kind of you know, uh, water finding its
level a little bit. Next year you still have all
those talented players, Kirk Cousins back for a second year,
a new system, although one that he'll become much more
familiar with. I don't know. I'm still bullish on the
Minnesota Vikings because of that offensive weaponry and they still
(01:57:07):
have great defensive players. This is the Doug Gottlieb Show. Okay,
we've done in the past. We'd like to do it
at big events. We like doing Super Bowls. We're gonna
do it next. From a car landing on a roof
(01:57:29):
to a car landing in the pool. We've covered it.
Talk to farmers. We know a thing or two. Because
we've seen a thing or two. We are Farmers under
written my Farmers Truck Fire Insurance exchanges and affiliates products
not available in every state. Car shopping can be confusing
with terms like dealer price, list price, an invoice price.
True Car shows what other people paid for the car
(01:57:50):
you want. You can recognize a good price when you're
ready to buy a new or used car. Visit True
Car and enjoy more confident car buying experience. Every day,
this time the Dug otleb Show. We like to get
you caught up on stories of the day. But it's
a special time here in the Super Bowl, and John
(01:58:13):
Ramos is a special guy, so we like to we
like to have some fun with Ramos. Why don't we
play a game instead? All right, let's do that It
Press and a special edition of The Press. Ramos, can
you press the right button? This is I mean, I
understand there's a lot of button. Thank you. The Press
(01:58:35):
actually gave John like a three hour heads up. I
thought maybe we get some different music. But we are
playing the name that We are playing Name That Patriots. Now.
The question is will we play Name That ram for
the second time this year? Because we did that training
camp with the Rams, and of course they're one of
the participants in Super Bowl voted Ram fan John Ramos,
(01:58:57):
I don't think you got anything right, John, and does
not guested one player yet in the nine rounds that
we've had of this game, because there have been three
separate versions. However, he did win the last game because
the four point one was tough that you didn't get.
So that was the that was the issue. So name
that patriot is just like named that tune. Doug and
John will bargain back and forth and n you can
(01:59:19):
name that patriot in fewer notes. So for one point,
Doug will start the bidding with you with seven notes.
How many notes can you name this patriot? Four notes?
John Almas, I'm gonna go ahead and say I can
name that patreot in three notes. Two dog named that patriot. Okay,
(01:59:42):
he's the all time franchise leader and receptions and has
kicked two extra points in a field goal in his
entire playing career. Name that Patriots. Now it's not a
current Patriot, that could be a former Patriot. I know
this is first of all, I actually believe this player
is a All of Famer and I know the giveaway
was the kicking the extra point points because he kicked
(02:00:05):
in high school. He did. He played every position in
high school in Oklahoma when I was you know, at
Oklahoma State. Names West Welker. That is correct. One point
for Doug Gottliebret at one point, there's one point, two points,
and then four points. So alright, the two point question.
Johnson's here down will start with you. Let's start the
(02:00:25):
bidding with six notes. Will start the bidding at six
six notes, and named that Patriots in five notes. I
can name that Patriot in three notes. John wants to play.
Are you ready for this? While he's the fourth all
(02:00:46):
time leader in rushing yards for New England, he's actually
the all time leading rusher for another team in the
National Football League, and he scored fourteen rushing touchdowns in
each of his first two season in New England. Name
that Patriot. I have his name on my tongue, but
(02:01:07):
I can't think of what it is. If it's on
your tongue, John, just say it, stick it out, look
at it, oh man, I I don't know. I can't
remember his name. Doug. Would you like to take a
guest or should I reveal the answer. Curtis my favorite.
Mark that is correct three nothing. Not even just because
(02:01:30):
he got it right, but because John got it wrong.
He was named the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year,
but he's the all time leading running back for the
New York Jets. Yes, yes, played only this is my
favorite stat. Played in more playoff games with the Patriots
than the Jets, even though his career was long with
the Jets. Played in three with New England. Only played
in two as a member of the Jets. Okay, final,
(02:01:51):
Rod and name that Patriot. Shockingly dugs up three nothing.
I believe in you. I think you can pull it off. Okay,
final around four points. John will start the bidding with
you again. Since you're trailing, will start the bidding with
six notes. In five'll name in three. I'm gonna trust
(02:02:16):
you dog named that Patriot. If I get it wrong,
I lose. He won two Super Bowls with New England.
He has the most sacks of any defensive back in
NFL history, and he's the first player to record thirty
sacks and thirty interceptions in his career. Name that Patriots. Uh,
(02:02:39):
but he has the most sacks of any player in
NFL history of any defensive back. Defensive back is Oh,
that's a hard one. There won two Super Bowls with
New England and the first player to record thirty sacks
and thirty interceptions in a career. The only one other
one to do it, according to my stats, was Ray Lewis,
who did it as a lineback. Becker, this is a
(02:03:01):
defensive back. Uh. Shoot, I'm gonna go with Tay Law.
I should have. I should have maybe given this clue
last week he when the Farmer's Insurance Open ProAm on
the South Course. The answer is Rodney Harrison safety. Rodney Harrison.
And name that bag, John Ramos, that you have won.
(02:03:24):
Name that page zero questions, John Ramos, Ramos, go ahead,
you can close up. Can we get another recap like
we got a couple of days ago. What you talked
about just a lot of great guest dog. Who was
your favorite John? Out of all of them, I would
(02:03:44):
say the great Hall of Famer Dan Marino? Oh interesting? Nice?
What was your favorite part of Marina Carson Palmer? I
think there was a lot of fly fishing talk, though
maybe an uncomfortab amount of fly ash in cock, even
though I've never been fly fishing in my life in
full transparency. If John was going to guess the last
(02:04:05):
one in one note, he would have only gotten the
Farmer's Insurance open note just to see if well you
would have known like that was the giveaway one that
would have if John would have guessed it, just to
see if you would you have known it was Rodney Harrison,
then John, I did tell Intermitius. I thought it was
Rodney Harrison. Okay, yeah, I did him? Or Darrell Reavers
(02:04:28):
was the other one I thought, m hmm, John is
