Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Up America Doug Gottlieb Show,
Fox Sports Radio. I hope you had a great weekend.
Most of your sports fans had the weekend off, right, like, oh,
we get off. That's because Friday night, the NBA season
came to a not so thrilling end as the Golden
(00:25):
State Warriors, for the second straight year, for the third
time in four years, called themselves champions. We do a
lot of stupid things in my business. One is some
trying to diminish that they won back to back championships
with three of the last four. This is not a
dunthy Oh I really, I almost um, I almost sometimes
(00:50):
struggle to turn on the TV because we so badly
want to discover topics to talk about. We just make
things up. It's like the well stuff doesn't want an
m v P Finals m v P. So does that
somehow diminished from his career? No, not even a little bit,
(01:11):
but whatever, That's who we are, right. You got a
dictionary dot com. You try and look up, um, you
try and look up the original the meaning of dynasty
and under meaning of dynasty, you have a rule of
you know a sequence of rulers from such families, stock
(01:34):
or group right the rule of such a sequence. The
Golden State Warriors have won three out of four tiles.
They've played in four straight NBA finals, so by definition
they have ruled the NBA correct. So by definition it's
a dynasty. You don't have to like the way they
(01:56):
came upon or happened upon this dynasty. And by the way,
many of you who texted me or tweeted me or whatever,
you're welcome for that incredible analogy with pretty Woman on
how the Warriors saved Kevin Durant, but Kevin Durant rescued
them right back. But by definition this is in fact
a dynasty. Then we have Lebron James, who a mailed
(02:23):
in game game four. Don't get me wrong, I'm mailed
in game four. Okay, I'm just as guilty as Lebron is.
I agreed to going out to dinner with my wife
and a couple of our friends, and I also agreed
to not have a say in where we're going. Now. Um,
there is a present day version of She's a Keeper.
You guys, remember that She's a Keeper discussion last week. Okay,
(02:45):
he comes from Bronx tail Starr bronx tail. You know
she's a keeper. You open the door. Chivalry not dead.
Open the door. She gets in, you lock your door.
You go around the back of the car to see
if she unlocks the door for you. If she unlocks
the door for you, she's a KEEPA this happened in
Great Britain with the Royal wedding? Was that two weekends ago?
(03:07):
Three weekends? I was so early in the morning, I
didn't watch it, but I did see it. Anyway, that's
a she's a keeper. There's a new maybe married version
if she's a keeper. And that's if there's such a
sporting event like the NBA Finals and she sets up
dinner plans. Did she call ahead and say, hey, their
(03:29):
TV there right? Additionally, and this is a big one,
this is this is the kicker. This is the ultimate
she's at keeper. Going back to it's not just unlocking
the door. If she pushes open the door for you,
and actually then you're like, oh, we're talking unicorn status here.
(03:50):
The better part for women in two thousand eighteen or
may be married, she's a keeper and not married. Even
better is now, does she select a restaurant at least
partially based upon whether or not there's television sets. But
then she says, oh wait, let's switch chairs so that
(04:11):
you can see the TV. Right. I mean, that's a woman.
Forget about hips, thighs, lips, that's a woman. Anyway, Welcome
into Doug Gotli Show, Fox Sports Radio. I mailed it in,
but thanks to the power of of of cell phones,
we watched it on YouTube TV live and we actually
(04:32):
had kind of dueling TVs going at It was pretty
awesome that Puppy was over seemingly at jump ball, which
is what we told you, and by my estimation based
upon points spread and general theme of game, I nailed
all four games. I told you I thought Golden State
could lose Game one, but they would win in a
(04:52):
squeaker they did. I didn't know that j R. Smith
would have a brain brain flagelens or that they hold
on to only win by ten when the spread was twelve.
Told you what I thought would happen in game two.
Told you Game three was gonna be one last push
uh from the Calves, and while all the guys took
the Calves, I took the Warriors. And then we thought
Game four was a blowout. Losing in four games if
(05:15):
you're Lebron James was defensible. Defensible. Look you at fifty
one in game one. Fifty one points as magnificent an
offensive effort as you're gonna find. I can't even the
most ardent Lebron hater could support Lebron James when he
(05:39):
was cold as ice to j R. Smith after regulation,
right like, well, you know, his coach didn't call a
time out, his teammate mr free throw, his other teammate
didn't know time and score, and nobody else thought to
call a time out, and so you know what, I'm
not gonna get onto Lebron for that. We're good. Game
two Lebron wasn't great. It wasn't great, But because so
(06:03):
much emotion and energy was expent in game one, that
too is understandable. All right, totally understandable. Um. Game three,
he was good. He was good. You know. Game three
(06:24):
he ends up with thirty three points, eleven assists, ten rebounds,
And no, he didn't guard Kevin Durant down the stretch.
But I even I would make the argument, A he's
trying to save as much energy as he can. Okay,
I'll give him a relative pass. Game four, that bad
boy was over right, the thing was over. We all
knew it was over. Lebron was trying to be gracious,
(06:47):
trying to make a proper exit, trying to just let
his guys play. He was kind of done. It was one, two, three, Cancoon,
What are you gonna what are you gonna do? Lay
your guts out there all of the floor, try and
go for sixty. Be a pig. I'd like to think, yeah,
but I think he was just done. We were all done.
That's why they had those interviews, to which he's got
(07:09):
really really a lot of perspective started. You know, we
started talking about That's why I started leaking as to
what teams he would look at. Like there's a reason
all those things happened before Game four because we knew
as Puppy was over. I gave him a pass for
all of that. Then he shows up in the postgame
(07:32):
press conference the end of the NBA Finals one, to
which at least he was in the conversation of being
the Finals m v P even if he didn't win it.
After his team got swept and he had a soft
cast on his right shooting hand because he, to quote
his own words, basically played the last three games with
(07:53):
a broken hand. What happened? Self inflicted poles? Game after
game won very emotional for a lot of different reasons,
understanding how important a game one is on the road
for our ball club. What was that done for us?
The way we played, the cause that was made throughout
the course of that game, and I had emotions on
you know, the game was taken away from us. I
(08:13):
had emotions of you just don't get an opportunity like
this on the road, verse Golden State, to be able
to get a game one, you know, let the emotions
get the best of me. And pretty much played the
last three games with a broken hand. So that's what
That's what it is. Okay. So I broke his hand,
which makes the thirty three he had in game three
more impressive. He didn't play terribly well in game four
(08:36):
twenty three eight assists, six turnovers seven of thirteen, didn't
shoot jump shots, now a sudden the hand is a problem.
All the other stuff is defensible, and it's understandable to
want it to be explained that he had a broken hand.
And I know that he sits there and wants to
wants to go like, hey, look we Game one set
(08:58):
the tone for the series, and he wanted to say,
I screwed up by punching the blackboard. I pulled a nuclue, Luche.
You guys have seen Bull Durham right punch with don't
punch with your pitching hand meat. But what are you doing?
You hadn't been seen in public wearing a soft cast
(09:19):
since game one? Why is now the moment to wear
a soft cast? Why? Why would you do that? Now?
I'm gonna hypothesize this is not a fact. I'm a
hypothesize that. Look. Look, Lebron is one of these he
he doesn't even look like a human, right, humans aren't
(09:41):
that big? Aren't that talented? Aren't that smart? Aren't that fluid?
Despite that size? Like he's he's almost the perfect creation
of every little part. But because of it, there's a
lack of I don't know if I want to say
common sense or just you just like, do you not
have any friends? Do you not have somebody who says, hey, dude,
(10:05):
what are you doing? Well? The doctor told me to
put on this brace. You couldn't wait ten minutes. All
you have to do is go out there answer the
questions about the team. And as he was respectable by
Kevin Durant about the Warriors, give us his take on
what happened with the finals. He cannot answer the questions
about what he's gonna do next, and give us a
(10:26):
little bit of perspective on where he's staying. And then
when he gets out the podium, if it gets leaked
out there through Windhorse to wherever their sources. Hey, you
know Lebron had a broken hand when game four, no
Game two, three and four, no way, no way. Then
the photos of the swollen hand would get leaked out.
Then they're like, you know what, he did have a
(10:47):
broken hand. We're talking hero deity status instead. Now we're
talking about dB status. Really. Oh, by the way, I
broke my hand, but my bad I punched the blackboard
because they made bad calls against us, and my teammates
sucked and my coach didn't call it time out. That's
(11:08):
what it feels like once I heard he bro Yeah,
basically has to play with a broken hand, and only
now are you breaking out the brace when you obviously
didn't need it. He had a chance to win even
though he lost every game, checks out, he subs out
(11:29):
and hey, why is Lebron dapping everybody with his left hand.
Huh huh, we got all these internets lose. They would
have figured it out, somebody would have linked it, and
he would his status would have risen. Instead, you're like, really,
oh yeah, by the way, I broken hand. Really, I'm
(11:56):
not denying that he had a broken hand. I'm not
denying that considering he had a broken hand, he's even
probably better than we could have thought possible. I know,
there's hundreds of bones in your hands and feet, and
you can break one and it doesn't affect you. But
he's an incredible athlete. Every little ounce of pain or
every little ounce of energy and preparation that's put forth
towards your hand instead of towards some other part of
(12:18):
your body that can screw you up, Like I can explain,
But why are you wearing a brace? What are you doing?
You're hey, sorry I sent that text last night, but
I was really hammered. Guy, that's who you've become. But
(12:39):
you still sent the text, right, You still sent the
text in an effort to protect his image. He has
hurt his image, and there goes the note to anybody
who signs him, you're gonna get immensely talented player. But
(12:59):
one that brings with him a ton of drama, and
even when drama doesn't need to exist, he seems to
want to stir it up. Protecting your home team Farmers

We've had him on before. He's he's great, great with us,
very good coach, lost his jag and Charlotte had some
(15:27):
health issues. Returned to the sidelines now with the Orlando Magic,
and he's getting ready for the upcoming NBA Drafty Steve Clifford,
he joins us in the Doug Gotlip Show on Fox
Sports Radio. Coach, what do you think of the Finals?
I guess I think kind of kind of what I
what I expected. Actually, Um, I thought it would be,
(15:51):
you know, good for Cleveland to win one game, which
obviously could have in Game one, but I just, you know,
I just think Golden State the talent repancy was enough
so it was going to be difficult for them to
do more than that. Yeah, I do. The game one
thing was really interesting because uh, and I'm sure you know,
you know, the former player, the former assistant, the head coach,
(16:13):
and you is thinking about all these millions of things
that that go on, and I just wonder how many
how many coaches are there nodding their head because JR
obviously didn't no time and score and then no one
thought to call a time out. Right, It's like one
of those is there were there some other learning moments
to which you watching are processing and looking at it
differently than just Hey, Lebron's awesome, but Golden states more awesome.
(16:37):
Oh no, I think you hit it right on h
I would agree with that totally. I mean, think about
that game, he has fifty one, um, and obviously that
the block charge play was was was obviously as big
or bigger play, and as as the last one and
the tough one in the last play is it was
(17:00):
most difficult, in my opinion to see if j I
Was trying to just get some space to shoot turn
aroun jumper or if he just didn't know how much
time there was left on the clock. So I think
that was that was a tough one too in terms
of calling the time out. But um, even with that said,
I mean, you know, even if they would have won
(17:20):
that game, I would have been surprised if they would
have won another one. There's, um, there's a sense that Lebron,
if he leaves, he's got to stay in the East
because it's it's an easier path than than the West.
Then I look around and I'm like, hey, wait, busting
got to the Eastern Conference finals without they're two best players.
(17:41):
Milwaukee seems to not be crazy far away. Philadelphia is
really young and they're gonna have some money to add
another piece. Obviously, Toronto can't seem to get over Lebron,
but they still are able to beat out almost everybody
else in the East. How far behind the West do
you think the East actually is especially if not, yeah,
(18:02):
not not nearly as much as it has been. Um, yeah,
like you said, Toronto won fifty nine games. Uh, you know,
Philadelphia has two superstars in the room for another all
Star caliber player and again, like you said, in Boston,
h is terrific. And then you know Milwaukee has to
(18:23):
me a superstar in the honest and then you know
an all Star caliber player in Chris Middleton. And if
Jabari Parker is healthy and returns another guy you know
who can score twenty and night. So I think the
top of the East has become better and better over
the last two years. Steve Clifford, head coach the Orlando
(18:43):
Magic Joint just in the Doug otlif Show on Fox
Sports Radio. You were in Orlando the last time Orlando
was Kings of the East. How big a rebuild project
is this? Um, well, you know what, I'm actually in
the process or steps in the process of really doing
a total study. Now, as you know, the first month
(19:05):
is about getting up to speed on your roster. And
you know, we only won twenty five games last year,
but you know, really took two significant uh injuries with
Terrence Ross and Jonathan Isaac only plent we both played
less than thirty games, um, and then had some other
health issues where you know, very good players Evan Fournier
(19:29):
and Big Grucivick you know, miss significance periods of time
there in Gordon this sometimes. So it was a team
that started twelve and six. Uh. I think that, uh,
you know, we have the sixth pick and hopefully we
can you know, help our our depth there. But UM,
you know, there are definitely some things that you can
(19:50):
look at uh and feel good about. So I'll feel
more comfortable answering that question in about three weeks. But
you know, I do feel good about a lot of
the things that I'm seeing on So it's interesting because
it's really hard to tell, you know, once you got
past I mean, frankly, you're like your team in Charlotte,
a lot of those other teams were trying to be bad,
(20:11):
right it was you know, so it's like, are they
really bad or they trying to be bad? Where where is?
You know? I mean like that that's a that's a
hard one to answer. But were you guys? You know
what it was the magic that bad or they trying
to be a little bit worse than their actual talent
would would determine. And uh, I guess the quote is
play younger players, right, That's that's what it's called, playing
(20:32):
younger players, no question. And the one thing I know
is they started the season at twelve and six. And
my point is that's eighteen games, so it's a little
bit under a quarter of your schedule. That's not like
being four and two or five and three. Uh. They
beat Cleveland twice, they beat Saying Antonio, they beat some
(20:55):
good teams, and that's when they started to take some injuries, um,
which hurts any team. So uh, that's obviously class half full.
But again, if you can play eight teen games in
this league at twelve and six, then you know, there's
some good things that were happening. You, Um, your your
peak with with Charlotte was the playoff season, the second
(21:18):
playoff run, right when you guys won forty eight games
and you guys added some pieces. Um, why weren't she
able to sustain it to a level to which they
were happy with? Well, the you know, the the biggest
thing that hurt us two years ago coming off to
win season was you know, and on that team, we
(21:38):
had six free agents and they all played well. Um,
so you know, we were able to keep Nick Patoum
and Marvin Williams. We lost Jeremy Lynn, Alt, Jefferson, Uh,
Troy Daniels, all guys you know who were you know,
(21:59):
contributed of the important players, rotation guys for that team.
I'm sorry in Courtney lead, um, and if you look
at it two years ago, our biggest problem was bench play.
Our starters were I think tenter leventh and differential point
differential that year, and usually that would allow you to
(22:21):
again be a playoff team. But um, you know, losing
those guys, you know, we just really struggled and we
went to the bench this year, which was you know,
really to me that this is you know, the most
disappointing year that we had there was I thought that Doug,
I thought this was our best team. Uh, we had
(22:42):
more depth, you know, we brought in Dwight. Um. We
had always been a very good defensive team. Uh. The
year we won forty eight, where ninth and offensive ninth
and defense we're much more balanced. And I thought this
year we could be a top five defensive team. And
I thought we had enough offense so that if we
(23:02):
could be ten, eleven, twelve, we'd have the balance necessary
to win. We actually ended up and offense, but we
were sixteenth or sevente defensively. So the thing that had
been our calling card for four years, um, you know
was what what led us down? And Uh, that's the
biggest disappointment for me. You know, it's fascinating. I had
(23:25):
a conversation with another Eastern Conference coach just last week
and I said, will it ever letever come back to
the days of which you'll you'll play through a big guy.
And he's like, no, No, everybody loved fans like the
way they're playing now. It's it's impossible and inefficient to
score in the low post. And so you know, the
(23:47):
frankly the Dwight Howard's or you know, you look around
kind of the east and there's some of these guys
that are their players from a foregone era in that
throwing the ball inside just does not make sense analytically,
especially you do a big guy and trying to score
in the in the low post. Do you see that
changing anytime soon? No? And I think that, uh, you know, actually,
(24:09):
one of the things that I've seen so far on
film here is you know, we have you know, Nikolai
Russavic who started shooting threes last year. And when you
talk about playing through a five man now offensively, I
think the best teams can do one of two things
are both. One is having the ability to play five
(24:31):
our uh you know Al Horford in Boston, UM, where
you can play him at five and you can be
terrific on offense and create space for everybody else to play,
and then defensively you're not getting dominated down low. You know,
he can do both. I think that's the first way
(24:52):
you want to play. Or you need to have, Yeah, look,
a role guy, a role guy who can defend, defend
the rim and just catch and finish and otherwise and
and reasonably well switch onto a guard exactly right. So
it's to me it's one of those two things five
out or four out one end where you have the
(25:16):
chance to play well with both ends on the floor. Um,
and that's it. I mean, I think that that's the
way to go. I mean a lot of it, if
you want to know, truthfully, when you look at the
post up game now, and it's one of the places
where I think Golden States not quite as good is
you know, they had great success when they had Bogan
(25:36):
and then actually with Petulia is posting five minute just
to set up cutting options, and you know that's the
other part of it. Like here with Nick, I feel
we can do some of that tooting. Okay, So as
we look forward and obviously you can't tell us who
you have number one on your board, but how much
does that change There's a lot of talented big guys.
(25:59):
How much does that change how you look at big players? Hey,
can they play out in the perimeter? Can they shoot?
Can they handle? Can they pass? As opposed to how
downant they are scoring the low post? In college? Oh,
I think it's a I think it's a it's a
it's a huge deal. I mean, unless again, you're confident
that they can be versatile defensively, so like you're saying
(26:21):
they can be involved in switching and you know they
can be that dynamic roller. Um, but you know, just
to me a post up player again, unless he's terrific defensively.
I mean, if you look at the best teams in
Boston being a great example, you need two way players. Uh,
(26:41):
you need positional five and you need guys that can
play well at both ends of the floor. And I
would make this argument again watching playoff playoff basketball especially
but even to be balanced in the regular season. Much
is said about perimeter players who can't shoot three. Right.
(27:01):
The guys that hurt you just as much now are
the guys that are pretty good offensive players but are
really bad defensively. Like to me, with all the five
out in the four out one in where there's so
much space to play, the poor defender, Like, if you're
a poor defender, you better be four at night? All right,
So so so okay, so listen again, I'm giving you hypothetical.
(27:25):
There's a guard. There's a guard in the draft that
puts up crazy numbers offensively, but based upon what we've seen,
not particularly engaged defensively and might not have, uh, the
athletic gifts of some people defensively. How cautious of you
as a head coach are you even though those type
of numbers and those type of shots may put more
(27:46):
people in the stands. Yeah, well, I think the determination
that you have to make on a guy like that
would be it's it's again. I think your question is
two part in a little bit is because it's a
question A lot of times I think, is you know,
can he you know, is he capable and not doing it?
(28:07):
You know? Or is he not capable? Right? That's the
first thing, And then the second one is it's how
good offensively is he? Again? I mean, if you're twenty
four a night, or you're you know, any incredible playmaker
or both, you know, you have to find ways to
win with that guy. I just think that the guy
(28:29):
that scores fourteen a night and doesn't defend. Those guys
are hard to win with now, no question about it,
no question about it. Uh, coach, we wish you nothing
but success in Orlando. Will hope to catch up with
the after this NBA draft, get back to watching all
that film and trying to figure out what you have
and how to fix it. We appreciate you join us
on Fox Sports Radio. Thank you Doug any time. I
(28:49):
appreciate it. Pleasures all mine. Doug Gotlip Show, Fox Sports Radio.
Cars are a lot like sports. You gotta have the
right tools you want to go far. Luckily, Auto Zone
has a very loaned tool program with over a hundred
specially tools to get the job done right. Just up
in today, depositors require getting the zone auto Zone. So
so do you guys understand I was asking about two players.
Was asking about the DeAndre Aton, who's everybody has the
(29:09):
number one player. I don't because he's a center. He
can shoot, but it's that lack of defensive versatility. He's
really athletic, but I like guys a little bit more versatilt.
And then Trey Young, he's the guard in question, which
he put up more than twenty three a night in college,
but he cannot and does not to this point guard
as soul. It's and that may be a question that
(29:30):
they're going to have to answer. So it's fascinating. Steve D.
Sager joins us, But I was going on to world sports. Steve, Well,
we'll start with hoops. There is the ESPN report of
Luca Donsher's keeping his name in the draft. Today we'll
find out deadline five pm Eastern time. This is a
kid who, at age nineteen, just won the EuroLeague MVP
six ft eight inch point guard. The Warriors championship parade
(29:50):
is tomorrow in Oakland. The team is due to move
to a new arena in San Francisco in about a year.
Privately financed Dwayne Casey will coach the Detroit Pistons, signing
a five year deal just one Coach of the year
with Toronto, as voted by his NBA peers. Casey's Raptors
were eliminated by Lebron's Cavaliers at each of the past
three post seasons, despite over fifty wins in each of
the last three regular seasons. The World Cup starts Thursday
(30:13):
morning on Fox TV. US Open Golf Tournament starts Thursday
on Fox. In Major League Baseball Tonight a limited number
of games, but it includes Boston at Baltimore seven pm
Eastern Time. The Red Sox a half game behind the
idle Yankees for best overall record. Arizona has one of
the late games with six and to Patrick Corbin on
the Mound hosting Pittsburgh. Paul Goldschmid has been named National
(30:33):
League Player of the Week. That was a nope writer.
He's gonna be Player of the Month too. He was
batting only two oh nine to start June. This month,
he's batting five D eighteen for thirty six so far.
Angels at Seattle the late game at ten pm Eastern.
The Angels say there have been no changes in sho
Hey Otani's diagnosis. The u c L sprain that Doug
we talked about last week. Otani will still be reevaluated
(30:54):
in about three weeks. But ESPNS Pedro Gomez gave ton
of interviews, TV and radio with the yesterday saying, Ohtani
will probably need Tommy John surgery, likely missed this year
and next. But the Angels medical staff, talked to by
Ken Rosenthal of MLB today, Angels have not recommended that
surgery or even said it's likely yet. So that's where
it stands. Back to you, all right, guy, I got
(31:16):
a couple of things here, Doug Gotli show, Fox Sports Radio.
What is Kobe doing? What is Kobe doing? What is
he doing? Kobe? You're not like the rest of us.
You just not what are you doing? Kobe Bryant, Ryan,
you want to run down what are he's doing? I know,
(31:37):
I just was looking at that when you said it. Okay.
So there was a piece in Bleacher Report by Howard Beck,
who joins the show every once in a while, where
he asked several former NBA players champions m vps like
Grant Hill, Paul Pierce, a few others. Kobe Bryant was
one of them. He asked them a series of questions
regarding Lebron in the finals. One of the quotes that's
(32:00):
been pushed out on Twitter is Kobe saying to Lebron
on going forward free agency, what he's gonna do? Kobe said, quote,
if I'm Lebron, You've got to figure out a way
to win. It's not about narrative. You want to win championships.
You just gotta figure it out. Now. Somebody on Twitter, Yeah,
that's the problem. Somebody on Twitter. That's all you need
(32:21):
to do. Is a Spurs who's loving the NBA. Spurs
real estate business lives in San Antonio. Eric Selinas says
if Kobe Bryant was on the Heat Calves instead of
at King James the past three years and face the
thirteen fourteen Spurs and fifteen sixteen, seventeen eighteen Warriors. He'd
have zero rings. Context is everything. Kobe says, we had
(32:44):
to face the Spurs every postseason pretty much, not to
mention the first super team in Boston, But hey, what
do I know? Look, there's nothing wrong with him giving
context to it, and he's right because of course he
lived it, like, oh yeah, we actually played in beete
the Spurs, Yeah, dope, when they were better and the
teams that peat him. But that's not the point. The
point is what are you doing? You're Kobe Bryant. Just
(33:07):
because you have four million followers doesn't mean you have
to tweak one of them and correct them all, can't
You don't don't fight those fights? What are you doing?
I'm not the only one who sees it that way.
Music you see it that way as well, don't you. Yeah?
I was just looking over that and go, don't punch
don't punch down. No, he feln't punch down. He fell
(33:29):
for it. The twitter trap got another one. Hey, but
at least at least he's doing it. This is true,
So I'll give him credit for that. Okay, Um, we
got a little thing we gotta work through here, Ramos.
I want you to think about music. I want you
to think about uh to say you can get it
on this because you're in so much. And then we
need Dan Barrow when he returns as well. We all
(33:51):
need to pick a country for the World Cup. Kay,
And here's what I here's the here's the thing about it.
It's almost like a book report, right. You need to
know a little something about this country. There needs to
be a little reason why you're rooting for this country.
You don't need to name the entire roster, even the
tire starting five, like don't be that guy. And then
(34:11):
on the back line they have sometimes they do the
two to four and sometimes they do this, and sometimes
they do that, and like I don't care. What I
do care about, though, is we don't have America. Hey,
but we still have the World Cup and you're gonna
watch it. So you gotta give me your country of
choice and the reason you're cheering for that country a choice.
(34:34):
You need to know one or two creative things about
the country and give me one or two of the
players in that country what you're rooting for. Don't give
me their style or their spirit. I hate how sometimes
how soccer is broadcast. They play with great spirit. Huh
go what another holdout from a from a star NFL player?
(34:58):
Is it a big deal, a little deal, or no
deal at all? I'll tell you next. Car shopping can

Doug Gotlip Show, Fox Sports Radio. That's dance. I hope
(35:23):
you're having a great day, man. I had a good weekend. Daughters. Uh,
they ride horses. One did really well, the other one
participated and had fun. Uh. Got to hang out with
my little dude, who just cracks me up. None of
you ever done this with your son. He's really into Hey, dad,
can we give fake names at Blaze Pizza? He wanted
(35:43):
to give Dilly Dilley. He wanted, but I was like, heys,
Dilly Dilley wouldn't No one would think was a fake name. Yeah,
but they call out Dilly Dilley and everybody would laugh.
Wants you just pick a fake name. He went by Jake.
I went with Bert and we were calling each other
Jake and Bert the entire day. It was. It was great.
It's awesome, right, just having a little fun with it.
Can we go to Starbucks so we can call each
(36:05):
other Jacob bird Like? Now we're good. We had Blaze pizza.
That's enough. This is game time on the Doug Gottlieb Show.

do you got, buddy? I got Belgium in the World
Cup this summer. For starting answering your question, I discovered
in my adult years that's where my last name is from.
So the US isn't there so for one summer and
Belgium is good, So I'm going with them? Uh was
it was the It was a Belgian player that was
(36:48):
Van der Camp, Like, wouldn't they hear their best all
time player? I don't know. I might might have made
that one up all right, go that could be Holland,
could be Holland, John game deal, little deal, deal, or
I'll bring up an item. You tell me whether it's
a big deal, little deal, or no deal. For example,
on Twitter yesterday morning, Seahawks star safety Earl Thomas announced
he will be holding out of mini camp and team
(37:10):
activities until his contract situation is resolved. He's entering the
final year of his contract. Is this a big deal,
little deal or no deal? M hmm, great question, big deal,
little little, no deal? Dog many times over, No no more,
um not trying to influence your decision or no, no, no, no.
(37:31):
It feels it feels like a a little deal. It
really does. It feels like something we knew was coming.
This team is going through a a change, but you know,
this is one of the problems that they've had is
keeping everybody happy. Of course, a part of ways of
Richard Sherman. Uh. You have two of the long time
stars suffering what appears to be career threatening, of not
(37:52):
career ending injuries. And then he got a role Thomas,
who's great, but he's getting up there in years and
he wants to be well compensated. But I feel like
there's a little deal because people knew it was coming
and because it's June, I mean it has mandatory but yeah, yeah,
both both combined. I had am number two. According to
Mike Florio Pro Football Talk, Rob Gronkowski and the Patriots
(38:15):
are quote likely going to reach an agreement on a
new contract, but nothing is imminence. Is that a big deal,
little deal or no deal? Again? This is this is
like no deal to me or maybe a little deal.
Um when he hired Drew Rosenhaus and last year, of
course he got he didn't get his contract change. He
got added incentives put in. I think it was a
(38:37):
signed to everybody that the whole talk of retirement was
more about he just he just wanted more money. And
so this is going to be probably a yearly fight.
He's under contract until the end of this year, and
they'll work out the deal and try and get you know,
more cap space, and he'll get more in terms of
workable bonuses. Last year he didn't, he didn't receive all
(38:58):
of those bonuses. So this year they're probably be smarter
about it. But they both need each other. He needs
to work and to make more because because he can't
make this money with w W or any of his
other stuff, and they need him to be successful. In
the other hand, Uh, they understand that he is injury
prone and he's got a lot of wear and tear
off of those tires. So I think it's a little deal.
(39:19):
The and the incentive thing could be good for both
and he can earn his extra millions and they're not
on the hook crawl of it enough. Item three, Odell
Beckham Jr. Will attend Giants mandatory mini camps starting tomorrow.
According to ESPN attend minicamp? Is that a big deal,
little deal or no deal. I don't know if he's
(39:39):
participating again. Little deal, little deal. He was there at
the he was there at O t as just to
be there on the sidelines. He's under contract, little deal.
I'm just not a big believer that Odell Beckham Jr.
Who missed all except for two games the last season,
has a leg to stand on getting some massive deal.
He don't get worked out in time last year. He
didn't have a like to stand on Item number four.
(40:02):
The NFL is still analyzing Julian Edelman's drug test sample
because they cannot exactly identify the substance that triggered the
failed test. Big deal, little deal or no deal. It
feels like a big deal. Um, it feels like a
big deal. They identified something that wasn't supposed to be
there in the urine, and the level of why it's
(40:22):
illegal or what exactly it is, it feels like a
big deal. I want to know how this story ends.
So he's merely facing suspension people at this point, I
come down, No, he's suspended because he had something in
his urine which triggered a legal test. This is going
back several months ago the b samples and now that
now this is part of the appeal. So he's suspended.
But I want to know what's in there. I want
(40:43):
to know if he got it from TB twelve. I
want to know. I want to know what it is.
I want to I want to know. This is game
time on the Duck Godlief showr SO, Kevin Durand is
now a two time back to back finals m v P.
He had several interesting things to say. Interesting things to say.
(41:04):
One was about Steph Curry not winning the m v P.
One was about scoring on a great team and scoring
on a bad team. Another was about the possibility of retiring.
We'll discuss them all next. What up tug Gottlives Show,
Fox Sports Radio. Do Do Do, Do Do Do? Coming
to here from the red hot City of Angels. Summer
(41:27):
has arrived, kids, the summer of Lebron. That is, where,
oh where will Lebron go? Dwyane Wade was on Fox
Sports Radio this weekend. Chris and Karen is the Show.
Chris MANNIX NBA and Sarayahoo Sports, Karan Butler, NBA Champion.
You see him on Fox, you see him on ESPN,
you hear them on Fox Sports Radio. I guess Karen
(41:47):
books him, gets d weight on and d Wade said, duds.
It's not about basketball as much as other stuff, family stuff.
Could Miami? What if they got back together? Ross and
Rachel got back together? The Inner Friends didn't? They didn't they? So?
Uh could the Ross and Rachel of the NBA. They're
on again, they're off again, they're talking about each other.
(42:10):
Could they get back together? Would be fascinating? Or is
he bound for l A bunch of stuff to talk
about with Lebron James, A bunch of stuff to talk
about with Kevin Durant. That's because Kevin Durant they're doing
a lot of talking. Let's start with right after winning
the NBA Finals, he was asked about Steph Curry not
(42:31):
winning finals. Mvp F was unbelievable in this series as
well as you were nine threes for a finals record,
he closes out with thirty seven, and he's still never
won the finals m v P. It doesn't matter, does it.
We want to chat, We just want back to back.
I don't. I don't think nobody even worried about that
type of stuff. I'm glad that we came out and
(42:52):
played a great game tonight, was able to finish the
series off. That's the only thing that matters to us,
does it in fact matter? Steph only played fifteen of
the twenty one playoff games for the Golden State Warriors.
He averaged twenty five and a half points a game.
He averaged five assists, six rebounds, and he had a
(43:13):
couple of incredible games the fourth quarter in Game two
and all of Game four. He struggled in Game three,
pretty good in Game one, although not not spectacular. Um
you know, if you remember Game one, he was eleven
of twenty three five eleven from three, you know, twenty
nine points nine assists. The stats look better because he
(43:35):
hit a bunch. He hit some shots in overtime as well.
You know, game two he was only six of twenty
before going on that stretch at the end of the
game six and twenty hit his last uh, it's his
last five shots. I believe struggling in game three great
in game four. Average twenty seven a half points a
(43:56):
game six and a half rebounds a game seven half
sis is the game and wasn't the finals MVP? And
it was probably the rights, probably about the right selection
about had he given it to Stephenman, fine, have you
given it to Kevin Durant? Be fine? This could have
said the exact same thing when you go back to
and Andrea Goodalo in the m v P. But um,
(44:20):
but does it actually matter? These are type of things
that they don't. I don't think anybody goes back and
really discusses all that often in trying to compare somebody's
historical greatness. Do they? That one feels like a very
much a media discussion Finals m v P. Don't get
(44:43):
me wrong, we've made the regular season m VP into
something bigger than it actually is. Regular season m VP
is I think I actually think it is exactly what
it is, which is, hey, who had the best regular
season of the best players, Because it doesn't mean that
Lebron is not the best player in the league or
Kevin Durant's not the best player in the league. And
(45:05):
they do have NBA Postseason's Awards, to which they ultimately
have that award. But does it actually matter who is
the finals MVP? I don't think so. Um Durant said
some other stuff which is interesting. He said, I feel
like it's easy to be the best player when you
(45:26):
don't have good players around you. I feel like it's
harder to stand out when you have great players around you.
I pride myself on standing out wherever I am. I
pride myself. I'm working hard wherever I go, and I
feel like these guys embraced me. I feel like I'm
a warrior. And what happens is we get caught in
a sentence or two and we try to dispute it right.
(45:49):
I feel like it's easy to be the best player
when you don't have good players around you. What does
that actually mean? My guess is I go Lebron is
so much better, so much more important than his teammates.
That they build the whole thing around him, and that
statistically it just jumps at you. That's that's not that's
not a false statement. It's it's it's harder to average
(46:11):
twenty nine with the Warriors or twenty eight with the
Warriors than it is thirty or thirty two with the Calves.
Correct Now, the difference would be that Lebron has stood
out and won games without Clay or Steph around him.
That's probably the ad the missed part of the discussion.
(46:33):
I pride myself on standing out wherever I go. I
pride myself I'm working hard wherever I go. I feel
like these guys embraced me. I feel like I'm a warrior.
He's telling you all you need to know about all
the things kind of going on inside of his head,
which is like, look, I like to get the ball
and go and be the guy, but I'm dealing. I'm
playing with really good players and they need the ball
(46:54):
and they need to be the guy in their own
sort of way. And that's been an interesting learning experience.
Then there's this from Chris Haynes Uh the Golden State
Warriors have all star Kevin Durant has said he might
(47:15):
walk away when he's thirty five. Quote, this is your game,
this game, your craft. You have to continue studying it,
no matter how much you enjoy it. No one wants
to be in school that long. I know I don't.
At some point you have to be ready to graduate.
Thirty five, that's just a number in my mind. Um
(47:35):
one of his his business partner, Richard Kleiman, said, I've
heard him say that, but I'll believe it when it happens.
Golden State Warriors All Star. This again from Chris Haynes column,
who scored almost twenty one thousand points alongside Lebron James,
who scored over thirty one thousand points. Are two in
(47:56):
discussion to overtake Kareem Abdul's bar Durant said he's not
chasing that mark because it's not about the record. I
can leave the game knowing I did everything I want
to do my way, on my terms. That's how I
want to leave the game. If I happen to have
all those accolades and those accomplishments, and that's cool. If not,
I'm still cool. So I don't think that's going to
(48:18):
define me as a player. It's cool accomplishment, Uh, to
be up there with the greats and to be considered
someone who could can potentially chase that or beat that.
But I'm not playing for that. M I just think
Katie's wired a little different. I think we we we
(48:39):
actually we don't want players to have perspective. I think
that Kevin Durant knows he's in a spot to where
he's thirty years old or about thirty years old, we'll
have a chance to win, you know, two to four
more championships. The idea that he won five more. I
don't think that's happening. Anybody thinks it's realistic of happening.
How do I know? Because it doesn't last for long
(49:01):
when you're in Chicago with Jordan's, whether you're in l
A with Kobe and Shack, it just doesn't. But you know,
if you win one more championship, you got three, you
win two, you got four, you win three, you got five,
and you're up there with Kobe, you win four, you
have six. Like all right, now we're talking ridiculous numbers
up there with Jordan's. The like good is he doesn't
(49:23):
get there, And what he's saying is, I'm good, And
we don't necessarily want to hear that. As sports fans,
we want to hear what Kobe said to Lebron and
Bleach Report, which is get as many rings as you can.
That's the discussion. That's why Kobe kept playing. That's why
(49:43):
Kobe tried to play through a torn Achilles tendon. That's
where he came back after the Achilles tendon like he wants,
like he thinks the whole thing that at the end
of the day, it's the six rings. Whereas Katie's like, look,
I'm just not wired like that. I'm gonna win everyone.
I'm trying to win everyone. I get a chance to
win if I don't win enough, Like you didn't think
I was good, What is one more ring or two
more rings or three more rings gonna prove to you
(50:05):
about how good a player I was? And then you
have Lebron, who I do. I do think it matters
to him how many finals in a row he gets
to because he can. He knows he'll never take down
Jordan's record of six finals and six finals wins. The
idea that he's gonna win six championships being stuck on three,
(50:28):
that's hard to believe because at some point his body
will decline doesn't mean he won't get one, maybe even
two more threeas a lot. That's a lot of wear
and tear. It feels like Lebrone, like, look, I'm gonna
have every record outside of the six titles, and that's
gonna be how I can claim status to being the goat.
(50:49):
If I'm the all time scoring leader, if I've been
in more NBA finals than anybody, if I've led more
franchises to finals than everybody, if I won a championship
in three different cities, then I can lay claim to
being the best all around player with the best all
around records, even if I don't even if the one
record of most NBA Finals or NBA Finals championship uh
(51:14):
NBA championships without a loss, that one's lost on me.
All dudes are wired differently. KT's wired a little differently.
I think. I think we're all coming to know that,
all right. And sometimes we don't want thoughtful, introspective superstars.
(51:34):
We want, like I think, in our minds, we want
more Kobe Bryant's. We want more Chris Spielman's see ball,
hit ball. Whereas when a guy is like, look I'm
good if I win one more cool two more cool.
I'm just gonna keep trying getting better, and when I'm done,
I'll be done. Doesn't mean it's what you want to hear.
(51:56):
It also doesn't mean that it's false. It's the same
thing with is it harder to average on a on
a really good team with really good players, or average
thirty two or thirty three on a crummy team, or
even on a team to which is a built completely
around you. Karen Butler's the NBA champion. He's also an

Every time I've had him on, I've said it because
it really is true. There are just some guys who
play in the NBA who everybody the league is about.
It's about respect more than anything else, about relationships and
respect he has anybody's playing the NBA. It's about you
(53:22):
gotta you gotta be good enough and handle yourself in
a way to which people respect you. And then it's
about those relationships which lasts far beyond when you're actually playing.
If you listen to his show on Sundays, Chris and
Karen Karan Butler joint us in studio. Every week he's
got somebody had Kobe a couple weeks ago, UH had
Dwayne Wade. Uh going back to yesterday, that come on
because they all respect tough, choose not just what it
(53:44):
took for him to get to the league, but how
he played and purported himself once he's in the league,
and how he handles his business now as he covers
the league for us at Fox, and for for ESPN,
and for the folks at Turner. He worked for everybody.
Everybody wants a piece of tough choose and he joins
us in student, you know, all right, let's let's we'll
work our way towards the dayne Wade conversation UM NBA Finals,
(54:07):
like what's your what's your two? When you see it,
you see it from a different lens, having played, having
won it before. What's your takeaway from the NBA Finals?
My takeaway was, you know, thanks for the introduction like
that too, brother, That was that was deep. Uh. I saw,
you know, a team that was deflated, you know that
that was running on fumes that got there in the
Cleveland Cavaliers. And I saw a team on the opposing
(54:30):
side and the Golden State Warriors who was just fresh
and poised for a repeat. And Kevin Durant is the weapon.
You know, the system is in place with the Golden
State Warriors, with the Splash Brothers and Draymond Green and
the supporting cast. But he is the weapon. And I
said it, and people got like just went off the
(54:50):
grid on me when I said, Kevin Durant is the
only guy in the association that's a wash at that
position with Lebron James. It was like, what's the wash?
I'm like, if you look at the Eastern Conference and
you look at the run that Lebron's had in the
Eastern Conference, he played in the first round, he plays
against the Ani end Up Pacers, Indiana Pacers with Victor
Oladipo and those guys, he offset three of the star players.
(55:12):
He did it again in the Toronto series, and he
did it again in the Boston series. He can outplay
literally the best three players on the opposing team. But
when you go to the finals, it's one guy on
that team that can be literally a wash with him
and as Kevin Durant, he's the weapon. And that's why
they had no shot whatsoever. Well, they listen game game one.
(55:34):
Now they did have a shot. Of course, we all
know all the things that to win a game, but
not the series. No prop no, I thought here, I
I thought it would go five or six because I
thought they could get one, and I thought maybe they
could get one at home, and the whole series probably
changed if they get one. Remember, Iguadala wasn't healthy, didn't play.
I think they're a different team with him as opposed
without him. You need that fifth guy they were attacking.
(55:56):
Whoever that fifth guy was on the floor. Those guys didn't.
We're all in the wrong place the wrong time. And
and you know, using Javel McGee, I thought was was
smart something they didn't do in the Houston series, So
I think they kind of changed as well. But I
want your reaction to the footage, which I think all
everyone's seen now Game one, end of regulation. Lebrons sitting
(56:17):
over there, and obviously he's hot, right he just he
he had fifty one you could cook. He was hot. Okay,
he's hot, and they are, you know, like they are
clearly wanted to apologize. I wanted to go my mo
bad and and like no one, no one did anything
except for like Cliver comes over and he's trying to
like console like, ah, it's okay, but uh, look, he
(56:40):
could have gone one of three ways. He could have
turned around and goes and did what he did in
the court, like what are you doing? What is the
matter with you? But instead he's just seething and maybe
instead of saying the wrong thing, he said nothing. But
he also didn't go like, hey, next play, let's go
get it back. Um, you've been in all those huddles
when all those big moments. What was your reaction? I
was a shot because, like Doug, you just talked about it,
(57:02):
and you talked about your your child that you know
goes attends to school with, you know, Mamba's kid and everything,
and the one thing that you know as a parent.
And I hate to make this comparison, but you don't
want to show too much emotion to the people that
looked to you for the leadership in the guidance, you know,
so like it can be the worst moment ever and
(57:26):
my kids can attest this. I'm just like, I'm straight faced,
poker face. And in that moment, Lebron displayed all that
emotion and it just like it was deflating not only
to Jr. But to the team. And then that was
a moment, and then you go to the huddle and
then it's like he's revisiting the moment even in depth,
and just like there's no way from an emotional standpoint
(57:47):
that they can come out that huddle and still be
consistent on the court to give their best effort. And
I told r J ME and Richard Jefferson watching the game,
He's like, no, Lebron is great, He's going to figure
it out. I'm like, bro, he he can. He can
turn it on and off like that. But you got
to think about the other guys that's looking and evaluating
this situation from emotional standpoint. There Hot, they checked out,
(58:09):
you lost them, like it's it's a rap, Cancel Christmas,
Like the series is over. Like any chance that you
had at winning a game, it's over. Do guys in
the league think of Kevin Durant at the level of
he's playing, at the level of Lebron I think, so, like, look,
this is what people see what Kevin Durant and you know,
(58:31):
you know, truth sounds like hate to those who not
used to hearing the truth. So this is truth talk
right here. They may feel like indifferent for him leaving
the Oklahoma City Thunder for whatever reason, and he had
his reasons and the reason why he's justified because he's
winning and he's winning MVPs. He's winning titles and you
know he has it all, you know, on and off
(58:52):
the court. He's winning, uh financially, Um, he's in a
good place mentally, and that's all about That's that's all
you can ask for. But you may have your mixed
feelings because of that. But if you take that out
of the equation and take that personal stuff out and
just be like, as a basketball player, how can you
not say that he's not on the same level now
(59:14):
with two final m vps, two championships and he's taken
two away from Lebron, you know what I mean? Like
Lebron is still the best player on the planet right
now today, he's the best player. But it's a photo
it's a it's a photo finish when you look at
him and Kevin Durant as you know, going forward, because
Kevin Durant is special. Um, he's ready for the moment
(59:36):
and he understands that. Look. In order for me to
continue to be special, I had to continue to you know,
go through him. Stute Fox Sports Trader, that's a voice
of tough just Corn Butler checking out Chris and Karen
every Sunday here on Fox Sports Radio. UH. Staff has
not one of finals m v P. I've never thought
of that as the calling card of whether or not,
(59:57):
like you're an all time grade. But he's you right,
he won two m vps. But I don't know if
he was actually the best player in the league. I
don't think he was. Anybody thought he was the best
player in the league either of those years. Harden probably
should have won it one year. Lebron said, you know, hey,
look he had he had the incredible year in the
seventy three win year. But didn't make him the best players,
just made him have the best season. Again. How do
(01:00:19):
guys in the league, guys who play, guys like yourself,
how do they look at Steph in comparison to the
other great players? The best shooter all the time? Uh,
off the dribble also not just a catching shoot shooter,
but off the dribble redefined the game from a perimeter standpoint.
And um, I can't tell the story of basketball without
talking about Steph Curry and the Golden State Warrior. He's
(01:00:41):
here's here's here's how I would look at when you
say best shooting off the drill. For people don't understand
some guys are great off the catch, right, like his
dad was great off the catch, unbelievable catching shoot, jump shot. Okay,
some dudes are great going right, some dudes are great
going left. Now does are there certain shots he she
has the left he always go step back right, and
(01:01:02):
the right he likes to shoot off the crossover or whatever.
But this is a guy that literally shoots any way
you want, right left, from almost any range. And when
you said he's redefined, he's redefined what you consider a
good shot because usually some of these shots, they were
considered bad shots, not because somebody couldn't make them, because
they would make such a low percentage your coach would
take you out even if you did make it. That's
(01:01:23):
a bad shot. Now we have to kind of read, wait,
maybe it's not a bad shot. He makes a high
enough percentage of it, to which you give him more freedom.
Is yeah, that's that's exactly what I meant. And he
sells out his warm ups, like like when he's warming
up to get prepared for the game, it's a standing
room only. People want to see this guy get into
a flow, into a rhythm, and he makes it fun
(01:01:45):
um From a technical standpoint, it's just, you know, amazing
to watch, and you know he's he's having fun doing it,
and he's a Hall of famer. He's gonna be a
future Hall of Famer. M v P two times three
three three championships. What else do you? I mean? What Like,
it's just like we're picking. We're picking at the bear,
(01:02:06):
like we're poking at the bear. Like just like he
could have easily had the finals MVP when Andrey Godla
won it. You know, I mean, but it was the
right thing to do because this is what they they're
controlling the narrative. This is what we're doing. We're rewarding uh,
excellent basketball and people that sacrifice, and Andre Godlla sacrifice something.
All of them are all in about the team. And
you heard Kevin Durant quotes when he said, look we won,
(01:02:30):
Like why are you even talking about that? Who cares?
Like if he wanted, I want to, like, look, we
won a championship. You know, it's interesting they got away
with the fact that their bench, this is the weakest
bench of the three. And they got away with the
fact that Draymond can't make a shot. Like Draymond he
he lost confidence in it and he just he couldn't.
Like It's really amazing because he was a kind of
(01:02:50):
stretched five. He could make some shots, and he lost
his jump shot sometime this season, and they had a
little bit of shoulder thing, But a lot of it
is just mentally not having confidence. Kind of amazing that
I think people somehow conflate the seventy three win team
which had a completely different makeup and didn't win a
championship with this team when this team kind of limped
in without Iguadala for the first two games, with Draymond
(01:03:13):
being a guy who did not even guard, and with
and you know, and look, Steph had a couple of
bad nights. But also the bench was just not very
good in comparison to benches in the past. People people
made a lot of you know, fuss about Kevin Durant
going there too. Uh, And you see, if he had
not went there these two championships, I don't feel like
(01:03:35):
they would have won. Agreed, This is what I said,
um again, And I don't know if you have you
ever seen the movie Pretty Woman, absolutely okay, you know
the part where she said she she tells she has
this vision of being rescued on the balcony and and
he asked, yes, So what happened after uh, he rescues
her and she says she rescued him right back. I
(01:03:55):
used it, Friday. I was like, look, Kevin Durant rescued
them right back, because they saved Kevin Durant from a
career of possibly not winning championships in Oklahoma City. But
these two wouldn't have been possible. Who if they keep
Harrison Barnes, what do they do with the rest of
the bench. Like that was it was a team that
others would catch up to, like the Rockets, whereas this team,
(01:04:16):
it gave them a completely different look and and put
them to this point heading head and tails above. Um, okay,
let's do this. I want to find out what's going
on with Steve de Seger. Corn Butler is going to
continue to join us, and then we'll get to your
conversation with Dwyane Wade and what next for the bron
cool Corron Butler continues to join us. Cars are a
lot like sports. You gotta have the right tools you
want to go far. Luckily, Auto Zone is a free
(01:04:38):
loaner tool program with over a hundred specially tools to
get the job done right. Stopping today the Pozzitis Squire
getting the Zone Auto Zone Steeve, what's going on a
lot in the world of baseball, even though it's a
limited schedule. Tonight, Boston will be at Baltimore seven pm Eastern.
Mookie bats is off the d L for the Red Sox.
He had an abdominal strain. He leads the Majors with
a three fifty nine batting average. The Red Sox right
now a half game behind the idle Yankees for best
(01:04:59):
overall record. Tonight's opponent, the Orioles, have not only lost
four in a row, they had the worst record in
the Majors, and their star Mannie Machado is out. Tonight
resting San Francisco will be at Miami. Madison Bumgardner gets
the start. He pitched six innings last week for the
Giants in his season debut. Giant shortstop Brandon Crawford has
a big lead in All Star voting at his position.
The first NL balloting update came out today. Three Atlanta
(01:05:21):
Braves are among the current leaders, including first baseman Freddie Freeman,
who's batting three forty. Toronto winners of four straight playing
at Tampa Bay. The Rays have lost nine of their
last ten games, and starter Chris Archer has had a
setback in recovering from an abdominal strain. In fact, Tampa
Bay Times says he won't throw the simulated game today.
Felt soreness the last couple of days. So everything's on
(01:05:41):
hold with Archer for now. Meanwhile, the administrative lead for
Blue Jay's closer Roberto Osuna was extended another week by
Major League Baseball. He was arrested for domestic assault last month.
Paul Goldschmid of Arizona was named National League Player of
the Week two oh nine to start the month of June.
He's batting five five hundred this month. And you know
what I say about Paul Goldschman, right, you could be
(01:06:03):
m v P every year as what hey, nobody gives
a Schmidt and then he's been he's been a great
player for like the last half decade. But he asked
anybody in the street like Paul Goldschmid, like lawyer, doctor, accountant,
in other words, for Hall of Fame caliber player, for
he's uh not a Yankee. In other words, Arizona is
(01:06:24):
gonna be hosting Pittsburgh and the late game ten pm Eastern.
It's the Angels at Seattle. The Angels say there have
been no changes in sho hey Otani's diagnosis. He'll still
be reevaluated in about three weeks, and they have yet
to recommend Tommy John surgery. Despite the ESPN report, Dwyne
Casey will coach the Detroit Piston signing a five year deal.
Back to you, Dwane Casey new head coach of the
(01:06:45):
Detroit Pistons. Karen Butler continues to join us here on
the Doug Gotli Show. Let's take a listen. So the
show is every Sunday, Every Sunday, Chris and Karen on Fox.
Chriss Chris Mannix from Yahoo Sports. Ran is My asked
Karen Butler. Of course, an NBA champion with the Dallas Mavericks.
Uh several times, an All Stars. You see him on
Turner Sports, you see him on ESPN, CEM on Fox.
(01:07:08):
He works for everybody, Actually everybody works for him. Let's
just kind of be honest there. Um and Uh. If
you missed the interview in its entirety, go to iTunes
you can download it. Also download the Kobe Bryant interview,
which they sat down for about twenty five minutes with
with Kobe three weeks ago here's Dwyane Wade talking about
Lebron James future. I don't think it's a basketball thing.
(01:07:30):
I think at this point in his life is more
so of a lifestyle thing of you know, where my
family gonna be the most comfortable, where I'm gonna be
the happiest that What do you make of that coming?
I think it's spot on. You know, look, there's so
many layers and there's so many seasons too, NBA uh career, Right,
So when we come into this game as professional athletes,
(01:07:51):
you want to be uh you want everybody to know
your name. You want to hit the ground running. You
wanna you know, tackle all these uh invisible goals that
you said. So he's done that, and then you you
you you go through the championship journey where you're just
trying to you know, stack up on as many rings
as possible, and then you think about the seamless transition
(01:08:12):
in life after basketball. This is the winner of your career.
And you know, he shows no signs of declining to
slowing down. But look, everything has to come to the
end at some point, and you have to think about
you know, your family and and and where would you
reside and how can you make that transition as smooth
as possible? And I look at I look at that,
(01:08:34):
and I and and and I think Houston, obviously you
can win there. Chris Paul's buddy, his buddy for many years,
a great friend on and off the court. And I
also think about the Los Angeles Lakers, where he always
already has an existing, um you know, network of business
already going on off the court. So it just makes
a ton of sense to be here in this market,
(01:08:56):
um and and and excel. Do you think there's a
way in which he gets Chris Paul to come here? Okay,
anybody I unders well, but Chris Paul has he could
be free agent, don't want to take a pay cut.
He's also, you know, ohead of the NBA p A,
So for that he doesn't Chris Paul can't go like, hey,
I'll work for five million dollars because that doesn't that
(01:09:16):
that's that's not great for everybody else in the union, right,
um and and there's always been the dream for the Lakers,
or for the Lakers always. You know, if not for
the David Stern trade, Kobe would have even more rings.
Not none of that would have happened. Like, I guess
My question is, is there a plan that's already in
place that will know about, you know, a week or
two or do you think he's gonna sit down and
(01:09:37):
try and figure out what that plan is? Man, Listen,
you know, I think it's a process because you know,
if he leaves Cleveland, if and win, it's gonna be, uh,
it's gonna be a long breakup. So you know, you
gotta be respectful in that space. But I do feel
like and and he's a calculated guy. His team is calculated.
(01:10:00):
Do feel like that decision has already been made amongst
each other, amongst them, and they're just waiting to move
forward with that. Here's my hypothesis, And you tell me
if it's it's way off. My hypothesis is the reason
you're hearing all these teams which you're like, m like
the Golden State thing. I think that could actually do
damage to Golden State if they meet with him, right,
(01:10:22):
which is like in many ways, if they meet with him,
it's like Clay sitting, they're going like, hey, wait, I
said I take less to stay. Now you think about
getting rid of me? Hampton five? Huh the deaf line up?
Hampton five, You're gonna meet with Lebron, Like, what are y'all?
What are y'all doing? Like we want to stay together,
we're the dynasty. Like I think that destroys chemistry. Chemistry
is everything, right, you know, you passed the ball, you
(01:10:43):
under you got familiarity with the guys that you're with,
and then all of a sudden, you you have a
meeting with the best player on the planet and Lebron James.
Now everybody's like, the player is not gonna, you know,
support that mean, I don't think, because that means that
with the guys has to go, and that's just that
(01:11:03):
that would be crazy, right, And then you have you
have Boston, which feels like a tweak towards Kyrie, right,
I mean it. And I don't think San Antonio is
not happening because as much as it's about winning championships,
it's also about supporting those guys who he's brought with
him everywhere he's gone, and that doesn't fly in San Antonio. Um.
(01:11:24):
I just I feel like these other teams are being
put in play for a reason, and the other reason
is like the Lakers want him, and the Lakers want
to make it work. But I think they wanted Fitzdale
to be the coach. I think they wanted some of
the things to go be their way. And to that point,
the Lakers and said like, look, we're gonna build a
great team around you. You pick the other superstar, you
(01:11:44):
help recruiting, we'll get you there. But we're not gonna
let it be what it was in Cleveland. It's gonna
be closer to what it was in Miami. Yeah, I
could see that also. But at the end of the day,
when when when Lebron goes wherever he goes, he's gonna,
you know, not only be a client, He's going to
be the president. Okay, So here's the here's the big
question though that I haven't heard anybody talk about. You
(01:12:05):
and I were discussing before we went on air. Look,
he's in his thirties and we can go fifteenth years
a lot of where on those tires. He was a
good defensively this year. He's super smart and how he
picks his spots. He doesn't practice anymore. He just does
his individual workout. He gets his body right, and he
plays in games to play Showtime. But at some point
Father Time wins every one of these battles. So you're
(01:12:28):
gonna sign Lebron to a four year deal? What is
year three and four? Actually? Look like? What is how
is what's the next step in evolution of le Bron?
Looked like? Look, look and this is the crazy me
and Chris is talking about this even a bad year
for Lebron, Right, this is a bad season, so some
other guys career season. Uh, he's gonna average what two,
seven and six? Like this this thing about that seven
(01:12:53):
and six, Like you can't even get your probably your
your start, franchise, cornerstone of the franchise. Got to do
that right out, and he's gonna do that on the
back end on this end of his career. So with
that being said, and if he has the talent around him,
like he understands his his i Q is higher than others,
like he remember plays like on the spot that happened
(01:13:13):
in two thousand and eight, Like it's it's a rare
handful of guys that can do that and think the
game of basketball like that to take care of their temple,
which is their body, uh, investing over a million and
a half two million dollars in their body every year.
So look, he's serious about his craft. He understands that,
and the thing that drives him is that we're having
(01:13:34):
this conversation. He can't do that fifteen sixteen seventy. He
has to slow down. He's like, you know what, I'm
gonna prove all the doubts wrong. I'm gonna go out
there and have a remarkable three four your run. Okay,
So why did he wear the brace on his hand?
Everybody need a little sympathy, come on, man, even Superman.
Yeah he was, but he was already getting the sympathy.
(01:13:56):
We're already. We're already like, look, Lebron just didn't have
the horses it got. J Are Tyler doesn't call it
time out, George Hill came. Jordan Clarksons thinks you can't
put him in the game, right, Like everyone was already
sympathetic in his plight against the Warriors. Every superhero does
want a little So he like, why not just why
not just wait until today and let it leak? Hey,
(01:14:17):
you know what, Lebron had a broken hand? No way,
Yeah he had a broken hand. Check the video. He's
got a swollen he's got a swollen hand. But and
then let him and then he comes out now he's
got a full cast on today and then he could
come with it. Look, I don't make any excuses. We
lost because they were the better team. That's it. And
he takes instead it looked like an excuse. I got
a broken hand. Oh you know, I punched. I lost
(01:14:38):
my cool. I shouldn't have done it. What are you doing?
But if you wait, then who controls the narrative? Because
he did it. When he did it, he still controls
the narrative, like, oh my god, like what happened to
his hand? I'll tell you later. He gets to control
to it. He didn't have to say anything, you have.
The story could be that Lebron James punch blackboard. The
(01:15:00):
exactly what the story is, he punched the black board,
he broke his hand. But it could be like he
didn't he had he played three games of the broken
hand and didn't say nothing to it about anybody. Instead,
it's oh, Lebron gets speed now he's got a broken hand.
Of course he does. What was the headline after after
that post conference? The headline was to go to the
State Warriors win, But the story was what happened to
Lebron hand perfectly played? I disagree. I wanted to give
(01:15:25):
the guy every everything, like you're gonna come up with it.
That's that's the that's you said. Somebody a text in
the next day like, oh, sorry about the text. I
was drunk. Like you still said the test, you still
said the text. Look, look we were comparative to the goat, right,
the greatest of all time, Michael George one years ago
today he played the flu game. So look, I would
(01:15:46):
have been better, but my hand was broke. I like it.
I like it better when somebody else says it. Remember
Mike Tyson said my back was broken. They said you're back.
You broke your back? Your back, he said, my back
was broken. That's why I couldn't fight. My back was broken.
That that's part of you know what. You know what,
Bill Simmons, I believe coined the Tyson zone. You know
(01:16:08):
what the Tyson zone is. You're in the Tyson zone.
There's no story about Mike Tyson that you don't believe
to be right. That's that's called the Tyson zone. So
Mike Tyson says I had a broken back, Like, yeah,
I believe that, Mike. Mike Tyson said I had my foot.
I had a foot bit off by an alligator. He'd like, yeah,
I believe that's Mike Tyson Tyson Zone. But Lebron Ja,
I don't know, Like Lebron James, I mean Paul Pierce
(01:16:30):
still catching grief for getting wheeled off. That wasn't his choice.
I get in the in the wheelchair, in the wheelchair.
Check out his show It's um on Sundays. I always

Find agent farmers dot com. As Chris brus was on
the Undisputed On Undisputed, he had this to say about
Lebron out. Lebron wants to be in a place for
(01:17:53):
two years and Nan take Lebron, Little Lebron out. You
know he probably wants this next decision, we're gonna settle.
And obviously he's got homes in l a. That means
his wife must like it, his kids must like it.
Who wouldn't like it? I think gut feeling it, and
I've kind of thought it all year, but I think
it's the Lakers, and here's now. I don't think he
(01:18:14):
would go to the Lakers by himself. I don't think
if they can't get anybody else, I don't think he
does it. But I think if I'm the Lakers and
I know Lebron will be talking with Magic and you
know you tampera. Look, they're gonna be talking. This is
what I think the Lakers do. I think they try
to sign Lebron and Chris Paul as free agents and
(01:18:37):
then trade for Paul, George, get these young boys, Linzo,
Brandon Ingram, Ramdel. I would want to keep kuzmanfore his shot,
but the rest of them, I'll send the Okay, See,
if you're Oklahoma City and you're gonna lose George for
nothing and I can get these young cats from the Lakers,
I would do that. So now you've got George, Chris Paul,
(01:18:57):
and Lebron with the Lakers. It's it's fascinating. I don't
see Oklahoma City doing that. But again, you know, you
put a gun to my head and you say you
could lose him for nothing or gain something in return.
The big one is gonna be Kuzma more so than
brandon Ingram. And it's interesting because Kuzma is actually older
(01:19:18):
than brandon Ingram. That's the crazy part, right, that one's
a rookie and one's going into this one's going to
the second year, one is going to third year, and
the guy going to his second year is actually much
older than one going into his third year. But regardless
of which, Kuzma was the guy that everybody wants. I
do think they'd part ways with a Lonzo ball, but
why would you? And it would actually be interesting for
Oklahoma City because I think Russ would be better if
(01:19:41):
he had somebody else who could run the offense, who
can run the offense. I just don't know if Oklahoma
City values Alonzo ball to that level. Maybe they have
no choice and we get you brandon Ingram, we get
you a Lonzo ball, and you may have to throw
something else in to kind of to make it work.
(01:20:03):
But that is Look, I think the idea of getting
Chris Paul to the Lakers makes a ton of sense.
And just because he has said I'm going to resign
with the Houston Rockets doesn't mean it's gonna happen. That's
that's really uh, that's really the big thing is And
(01:20:25):
anyone who says, like, hey, this guy Paul George said
this three months ago, like that is three months ago,
doesn't matter. It's never mattered. It's also it's the same
with with coaches when they're asked about you know where
they're gonna coach next? Are they gonna come back to
next season? Like? Look, I haven't had yet a conversation
that's going to change how I feel. But as of
this very moment, as of this very moment, this is
(01:20:50):
how I feel. This is how I feel. Um, all right,
Rob mst said he's already gotten his Father's Day gift?
Is that right? Is that what you said? I haven't
got it given to me, but they have. It has
been purchased. Information. Did you get your dad a Father's
Day gift yet? I have not yet? What's your dad into? Uh? Well,
(01:21:14):
he's a huge Angels fan, so I'm thinking we'll probably
do Angel tickets or something of that nature. Okay, all right, Um,
you get him to see you promised some Angel tickets
to see Shohiotani's next star. That'll buy you like two years.
That'll buy you two years. I gotta put a request
(01:21:35):
in or something. It's coming up. Thursday is Sunday, and
I don't think they've got me anything. There's one NBA
team that enough people aren't considering for a spot from
Lebron Tell you who that is? Next? What a Doug
Gottlieb Show, Fox Sports Radio, Doug Ali Show. Rolls on
(01:22:02):
here Fox Sports Radio. Um, I'm trying to find a
parallel to Lebron and the Cats cast thing right, Braun
broke his hand or broke a bone in his hand,
and we didn't hear about it until the end of
Game four, which you know, part of it is, part
(01:22:25):
of it is this. Part of it is Lebron giving
context to it. And man, look, I had a broken hand.
They told me to wrap it up. Series is finally over.
I didn't make excuses in the series. But just so
you know, this happened, and we would not have known.
We wouldn't It would have been rumor, it would have
been interesting, We would have been able to speculate about it.
(01:22:45):
We know he broke a bone in his hand. Why
because he told us as such. At a matter of fact,
here's Lebron James after Game four. He didn't have a
great night. They were never really in the game. They
get blown out. He checks out midway through the fourth quarter,
DAPs everybody with his left hand. Did dap his son,
(01:23:06):
some of his son's friends with his right hand. He
had this to say what happened? Self inflicted post game
after Game one, very emotional for a lot of different
reasons understanding how important a game one is on the
road for our ball club. What was that done for us?
The way we played the cause that was made throughout
the course of that game. And I had emotions on
(01:23:27):
you know, the game was taken away from us. I
had emotions of you just don't get an opportunity like
this on the road verse Golden State, to be able
to get a game one. You know, let the emotions
get the best of me, and pretty much played the
last three games with a broken hand. So that's what
that's what it is. Yeah, So when you actually listened
to him, that's there's no excuses being made. It's just
(01:23:48):
the idea of now is the time that you had
to have it wrapped. You could even wait until after
the game and then been walking out to your car
with it wrapped. Instead you do it at the postgame
press conference. So look, I I'm somebody who's tried to
paint Lebron in the proper context for a long time.
(01:24:09):
And he's a guy who continues to evolve as a
basketball player. Now. He used to not trust the jump shot.
He trusted more now, although he went away from it late.
Maybe this is why he went away from it. Late
in the NBA Finals, he didn't have a go to
move in the post. Now it's that fade away, which
is not as smooth as as Jordan or Kobe, but
it's starting to be as effective. He hasn't had go
(01:24:30):
two moves and he's starting to develop them. Picks his
spots defensively. He's an incredible player. But like, look, we
can make excuses for Game one and his frustration at
the end of regulation. We can make excuses for Game two.
A man, there was just so much put into Game one.
They had nothing left. We can make excuses for Game
(01:24:51):
three and not guarding k D because he had to
bring it the offensive any did make a big three
point shot. We can even make excuses for Game four. Hey,
they were done. Everybody knew they were done. Why put
off the inevitable? Why give it one last shot? But
then you see that, you're like, why am I making
excuses to this guy when he's making excuses for himself.
(01:25:13):
Now there is one team, one team that people aren't
discussing enough, aren't discussing enough that could be a player
for Lebron James. Take a listen to Dwyane Wade, his
former teammate in Cleveland this year and in Miami previously,
(01:25:33):
talking about where he thinks Lebron will go next. I
don't think it's a basketball thing. I think at this
point in his life is more of a lifestyle thing
of you know, where my family gonna be the most comfortable,
where I'm going to be the happy is that? M
Do you remember? Um, you know there's there's a book
out pat Riley has out where, the new book Ian
(01:25:57):
Thompson's new book, The Soul of Basketball. The epic showdown
between Lebron, Kobe, Dock and Dirk that saved the NBA
from that one. Pat Riley talked about Lebron James. They
did um, he said, He said, uh, he talked about
(01:26:19):
Lebron James kind of asked him if he had that
itch and coaching. Talked about Lebron James challenging basically the
leadership of Eric Spoelster and how he didn't back down.
But he also said that he also kind of gave
pat Riley gave Lebron James a pass for leaving. That's
(01:26:40):
maybe the interesting part, right, He said, it made sense
at the time, I had two or three days of
tremendous anger. I was absolutely livid, which I expressed to
myself and my closest friends. My beautiful plan was all
all of a sudden came to a crack crashing down.
That team in years could have won five or six championships.
(01:27:02):
But I get it. I get the whole chronicle of
Lebron's life. While there may have been some carnage always
left behind when he made these kinds of moves in Cleveland,
also in Miami, he did the right thing. It just
came to accept the realization that he and his family said,
you'll never ever be accepted back in your hometown if
you don't go and try and win a title. Otherwise,
(01:27:23):
someday you'll go back there and have a scarlet letter
on your back. You'll be the greatest player in history
of mankind. But back there, no one really accepts you.
Remember he sent him a text before Game seven. Pat
Riley was trying to get back in on the Lebron.
James pat Riley is a never give up sort of dude.
(01:27:44):
And and if you listen to uh uh, you listen
to Dwayne Wade. Hey, this ain't all about championships. It's
about lifestyle and being happy and like you were happy
in Minam. Remember when he needed a couple of days
away in Cleveland. You knew where he flew in order
to work out and get his mind right. Miami with
(01:28:05):
Dwayne Wade and their team is not terrible and it's
still pat riley and they'll still move mountains to try
and go get you. I don't think they're the leader
in the clubhouse. I don't even think they're the stock horse.
I think Miami might be that horse weigh in the
back that Calvin bow rail might be riding on the
(01:28:25):
rail from Calvin Boo. But if you watch the Belmont
Steaks this weekend, I did. I was worried about one
of those one of those horses, late speed horses that
was just sitting back on the rail. And I think
Miami could be that team. In order for the Lakers
(01:28:47):
to get there, he's got to either buy into playing
with a Lonzo ball and dealing with LaVar ball, recruiting
Paul George. Paul George has to opt out and then
sign on to be a Laker, or he's gotta go
to Houston. Has got to shed themselves of a bunch
of roster while resigning Chris Paul and go with three
guys and then a bunch of veterans and hope that
(01:29:08):
works out. Plus, it's Houston where he doesn't really know
anybody outside of Chris Paul, who has been there all
of nine months. San Antonio where his guys can't come.
It's Cleveland where you have to stay and play for
Dan Gilbert's Boston, who doesn't really want him because Boston's like,
we're good. It's Philadelphia where he can say he wants
to let Ben Simmons handled the ball, but Ben Simmons
(01:29:28):
can't play without the basketball because he can't shoot. Like
all of these other places have flaws, so too does Miami.
But if it's about family and lifestyle, a place you've
been before, a place you've worked before, come on home
to a place that used to be your home. Yes,
John Ramos, all the stuff you just said right now,
all valid points, great points. Actually, do you think Lebron
(01:29:50):
James thinks everything that you just said? Like, do you
think it? You know, Ben Simmons, the guy needs a ball,
I mean he can't. Doesn't that really good shot? Do
you think he thinks that? I don't know, we say it, Okay,
that's what I wanted up. I think he does. Um
I I you know, Crow, But it was like, look,
this is the thing. The decisions probably already been made.
Maybe he has before he went to Minam. This is
the true story. You can ask Chris Carter. Chris Carter
(01:30:13):
came up to me and Scott Vanpel were walking across
the Old Places campus and I can't remember what we
were talking about, but I'm distinctly remember we're walking across
a beautiful summer day Bristolo, connecticutt We're walking across into
Building four. A Building four was it housed ESPN News,
(01:30:35):
the new ESPN News studio. Numbers never lie became in there.
And then that's where all the anchors, like Scott, they
had their offices or their cubicles, depending on your level.
The big guys had offices of everybody else that they shared.
Everybody else had cubicles. And that's where like if you
did a show, you'd come back and you change into
a shirt and you take your shirt and tie off.
I was in a different buildings. I was hading my
(01:30:56):
stuff with the radio guys, which is like building two
or something. We're walking across and Chris carrs like, hey,
going to Miami. Just got a text. We're like CC
love you, but hey, going to Miami gonna happen, like
a week before it happened. So the idea that no
(01:31:17):
one knows, I don't know, and I think most people
in TV don't know, but it's not crazy to think
that they've already decided. So I'm I'm I'm fascinated by it. Yes,
right music, So, sort of playing off of what Ramos
(01:31:38):
had said, where does Lebron actually think about how he
will fit in with these teams and Ben Simmons, how
those guys will fit in with him? Correct? But that's
actually exactly where I'm going with. Do you think Lebron
looks at these situations and maybe Ben Simmons isn't a
perfect fit, or some of these other teams aren't a
(01:31:58):
perfect fit. But in his head he sort of has
that confidence of like, but if I'm there, play that
cutback of of Dwayne Wade and he's like, look, he's
already shown he can get this Cleveland team to the finals.
I don't think it's a basketball thing. I think at
this point in his life is more of a lifestyle
thing of you know, where my family gonna be the
most comfortable, where I'm going to be the happy is that.
(01:32:21):
He also went on to say, like, look, he's already
shown that he can take this Cleveland team to the finals.
So there's a certain arrogance in there going like, hey,
look he's already showing he can take George Hill, Tristan Thompson,
Kyle Koover, Kevin Love said usman j R. Smith, Like
you want a title with j R. Smith? Is a
starting to guard Like that's the stuff of legend. So
(01:32:42):
of course he thinks he can go anywhere else and win.
Why not. If you can win in Cleveland, you can
win anywhere. It's like the uh the old vaudeville they say,
if it plays in Peoria, Right, plays in Peoria, it
plays anywhere. Sure. But but but that wasn't what John
just just that wasn't what John said. John didn't asked
(01:33:04):
does that mean he won't do it? John asked, does
he think about those things? And my answer is he
absolutely thinks about those things. Remember, they share the same agent,
and he made it work with Dwyane Wade, who's not
up who not a floor stretcher, but he but Dwayne
Wade is one of those guys that he might not
hit a shot for a month, but the game online
you you you bet your bottom dollar, Dwyane Wade is
(01:33:25):
gonna make a game winning shot. Um, are we gonna
claim that Sports Nation stole our game? Since we stole
our game from my previous show? Here's the one thing
I can't say for sure that they've never done it before.
I don't know. We ask Adam clue. So Adam Kluge
(01:33:47):
is now the program director at nine three, the fan
of San Diego. It's our southern California home. What up
at him? He's listening to the show because I think
this is his first full day at work. I believe,
and in in all fairness to you, Ryan, you didn't
come up with a big deal, little deal. Adam came
up a big deal. Little deal. No deal is one
of our games. So we're sitting around here watching and
(01:34:11):
basically we Adam came up with these games. This is
going back five, six, seven and a half years ago.
We decided to game time, to which we basically borrowed
or stole games that we saw on P T I
or Around the Horn or whatever they did buy or sell,
(01:34:32):
you know, we did a big deal, little deal, no deal.
I don't know if he copied that from somewhere else
or if he took the fact that I would say
big deal, a little deal, little deal. I don't know
where he where he but I have not seen them
do that before. On the other hand, I don't watch
the show often, just had to be on in front
of me. I will also point out though that there
(01:34:54):
are no new TV segments, you know, like it's not
we're not not down breaking. Um, what's her name? Katie
Nolan did a deal where she had she was like
the she was the sexy psychiatrist or whatever with the
glasses on when she was on her internet show on Fox.
(01:35:16):
The crazy thing was ali Leforce and I we did
a ship we did I said, we did a segment
with which I would I would pretend to be all
these different people going to Dr La Force. We did
like three years before her. Now we did on CBS
Sports Network, which have the people don't get on their cable.
So if it happens on CBS Sports Network, did it
actually happen at all? Right? Right, So it's not really
(01:35:38):
not really copying, but it's and it's not like it's
a new idea. It's a little bit like the Lebron
James barbershop deal, right, like Lebron James like, look, I
love you, Lebron, but you didn't invent barbershop talk on television.
Are Ken Our intern here today said that he's seen
Sports Nation do it before, but how long how We don't.
(01:35:59):
We don't know exactly how long before. But it is
something that today was not the very first week. We
did it on ESPN Radio seven and a half years
ago and we've done it ever since. It's been It's
one one of our staples. Psychic has been a staple.
Has Sports Nations been on TV for seven and a
half years. Sportation has been on TV for fifteen years,
(01:36:19):
not maybe not fifteen ten years. Cow heard in Beatle.
That was Beatle. Beatle used to do a show to
which she was She did like the tours of stadiums.
She did a show to which she went to like
every Major League Baseball stadium, and then she used to
do all this stuff in New York before she came
up and worked when she worked for ESPN, it was
the launch of Sports Nation. Adam Kluge just tweeted in
(01:36:40):
I bar road, big deal little dealer, no deal from PTO.
There you go, alright, so everybody every so pt I
and then you guys, and then now back to hey,
what goes around comes around. Sure, sure we're not gonna
claim thiever, but it was interesting to be doing big deal,
(01:37:02):
little deal, no deal. Then watch it on TV like Wow,

z s. Doug Alive Show, Fox Sports Radio, m M
(01:38:57):
M M M M M m M m M. I
just told the story about when Lebron left left Cleveland.
The first time to go to Miami was Chris Carter
on ESPN's campus. Was walking around with Scott Van Pelt
and we haven't run into Chris Carter and he was like, Hey,
I just gotta text some roald Y West. He's going
to Miami. Was like a week before anybody else had it.
(01:39:19):
He had it. You know, he's got like sources that
are this crazy number of sources in the NBA. Ryan
ro Solo joins us in the Doug Gotlive Show. Do
you know where he's going? No? No, I don't know
what he's doing today, but I can tell you that
I've I've always been surprised how dismissive everyone has been
about an impossible stay in Cleveland. And it sounds like everybody,
(01:39:44):
you know, as soon as they were done and if
they had lost the bosson, if they lost the Pacers,
it was like, oh, it's obviously he's gone. And to me,
he didn't obvious. You know, I'm not guarantee he staying,
but I just would love Cleveland, all right? If if
if not Cleveland, what's the most likely thank Philadelphia, Um,
thank Philadelphia makes a lot of sense from staying in
(01:40:07):
the East and still being competitive. I mean, Boston is
gonna be really tough next year. Let they get everybody back. Um,
you know, Cleveland could try to figure out a way
to do this on the flag again to some maybe
another star that just wants to play with Lebron forces
the team's hands. So any team that I bring up,
or any team anybody brings up, like, we can poke
(01:40:28):
holes in it, like everybody that says that it's l
a and you go, okay, well, who's going with them?
And is that surrounding cast is going to be good
enough or is he just signing up to lose to
the Warriors earlier? That doesn't make a lot of sense.
But you know, look, people think that that's the favorite. Um,
Houston has to really overhaul this and be really aggressive
and kind of lucky too, to be honest with you.
(01:40:48):
And then you go, all right, the Paul Hart and
saying no problem, stagger the minutes play off each other. Well,
a third ball dominant player, how does that work? So
you know, I think Cleveland and he made bounce, but
if he stays, maybe because they pulled something off here
before the trade deadline, before the draft. Um, and and
(01:41:10):
figure out a way to add some firepower there. But
you know this, it's funny because because it feels like
it could be a really exciting off season of Kauai
or Paul George, it also really boring and everybody just
stays So I don't know yet, Yeah, I I have.
I have literally no idea as well. Doug otlip show
(01:41:30):
here on Fox Sport Trader. That's voice of Ryan R. Solo.
He has his own podcast you to download and listen
to it. Let's let's dial back to the NBA NBA Finals. Um,
how bad a look do you think it is? Historically?
The video game one? Uh, you know, like, look, he
didn't go off on Jr. But he also didn't try
(01:41:51):
and talk JR. Out of that dark place that JR
Was in, and then he kind of lost it when
he realized that Tyler said they did have a time out,
they didn't use Game one sidelines at the end of regulation.
How do we look at that historically, so that that
whole stretch was almost three minutes right before overtime. If
you want to sulk for two minutes, I wouldn't have
(01:42:13):
a problem with it um, but at some point you
have to snap out of it because everyone's following your lead.
And to take that right up until walking out the
center core for the tip where you're not trying to
be like all right, that was awful time to turn
the page, like he didn't want to turn the page
there so nobody else can turn the page and you
can see the corver as a vet is going all right,
(01:42:34):
you know, like hey, I'm gonna start clapping here, just
trying to make this work, like hey, everybody have a
great time. Still, um, I thought it was a pretty
bad look and I know that you know the people
like basically at this point, right, you just either defend
Lebron or you crushed him. And I would like to
say that I like him a lot, and I think
he's great, and I think some of the knocks against
(01:42:55):
him this Jordan's thing are terrible pro Jordan's debates, We're
not give him a broad enough credit. In that moment,
it was a mistake and he gained the intervals fifty
one points, like he could do both things. He could
be incredible and the only reason in overtime is because
of him. And I think at some point he needed
to snap out of it a little bit, and that
that watching him in overtime and then seeing that video
after the fact, I don't think it's any surprise if
(01:43:16):
that's how they played. Okay, Kevin Durant wins his second
straight m v P, and I look, we're gonna look
back and say Kevin Durant played better than he actually played. Right,
Like game one he was still just kind of in
that weird place from Houston. Game two he was super efficient,
but he wasn't like crazy dominant, and staff of course
(01:43:37):
laid the knockout blow. Game three he was incredible, and
game four he was fine. Um, how do you look
at at Kevin Durant after watching him for a second
year against Lebron and the Cats. I do think it
was weird that there was like this carry over hangover
from Houston into the start of the finals this year. Um,
(01:43:58):
I probably would have voted for step for Finals MVP,
but again I would have voted for him in the
first round. It was with all I end up waying
it and I wondered if there's only a leven voters.
I thought, maybe if it's close, Step awin it, because
people say, I know, maybe Steps have got it four years,
you know, but you know, steps game three and then
the three that he was hitting and the end of
(01:44:19):
really pulling away in game two, but he shot it
so poorly in game in game number three, it was
it was gonna be kind of tough to give it
to him a jest, but with the rant, it just
there were so many times especially that I think he thought,
all right, well, if he hasn't a small on him,
it's just such a good shot, and go ahead and
(01:44:39):
do it. And it was almost like they were getting caught.
All bad happens because for most teams and forgot that
talent that's still kind of a good shot, but it
takes them away from what they do. It was weird
to watch Golden State up moments that that lasted a
lot longer than end of the where they just stalled offensively,
and they were stalling a lot to kind of a
piece in. He had like triple the isolation possessions through
the playoffs this year that he had all the last
(01:45:02):
we're talking about the same team, so Duryant think, you know,
as far as the lebron at Durant, that kind of stuff,
Like I think, if anything, that's kind of Durant plays
both ways. Lebron doesn't play defense anymore, But we don't
really seem to be too caught up with that, because
I think, if anything, Run probably made you feel even
better about Lebron standard. It's interesting, uh Ryan Stilla joining us, No,
(01:45:26):
I think I think Lebron kind of figured out what,
you know, possessions he can cheat and possessions that he
can you know, occasionally play hard. Like I think he's
kind of figured out his body, figured out the game
when do I have to play hard? When can I
take breaks? And he's balanced it really well. And I
also think the interesting thing is how many people don't
pay attention to it, right. I think the first time
(01:45:47):
people pay attention to it was the end of Game
three when he just kept switching to just switch and
letting Kevin Love or whomever else get isolated on Durant
and Durant abused them and look, Durant hit shots over
Lebron last year as well. But it was just this
idea that we're okay with him suddenly coasting when the
when the conversation had previously been, oh, lebrono guard anyone
(01:46:09):
anywhere anyway, and that that conversation kind of changed. Yea, yeah,
that's when I look at the brand's defense and yes,
he was watching who was the season? You go, oh, wait,
like he's not even if he's never taking the toughest
guy anymore. And then you know, you know, defensive numbers
I think can be really skewed and you can hide
some things if if you're if it looks like you're regressing,
(01:46:31):
and then all the numbers show that you're really a
pretty bad plus minus and some of these these numbers
and the team is bad defensively as well, and you're
worse than some of your own teammates that are getting in.
It's I think it's It kind of makes like, hey,
he's not defense, and actually the thing is, I think
it's brilliant by him, though in a way, Okay, nobody
pays attention to this anymore. And it was funny because
(01:46:51):
when I started bringing it up forwards in the regular season,
I had these calves and it wasn't fans, it was
actually people that covered the calves telling me he was
still like the lockdown guy. And I was like, you
get a credential because this is that's em everything that
you think. But what happened is is that we spent
the whole year talking about are we seeing the best
version camp? Because his offensive numbers were so great, the
(01:47:14):
shooting was more complete, the pr numbers were right up
there with his top things. But I mean, he wasn't
He wasn't the same guy because he knew was going
to pay attention. He was an offense. So I'm not
going to be guarding everybody else all night long, and
that's gonna keep me ready to go for it going
after state straight times. So I'm not necessarily knocking him forth.
But anybody that defends his defense didn't pay attention. Um,
(01:47:39):
when he comes out with the sleeve on his hand,
what was your reaction? I was, I was surprised. Um.
I think that I think that these guys that after
end of the gay life. It's always stupid for any
of us to compare it to but like we have
(01:48:00):
a little bit of understanding of what it's like to
be in the public spotlight, right, just a little bit.
It's not even close and what these guys do, Like
you'll have your moments where you feel like wait because
everybody ELPs get me, you know, Like I get this
segment today and everybody's mad about it. But to be
at this level of like world fame, I think this
generation of players has become obsessed with how they're perceived
(01:48:24):
because they are interacting with it all day every day.
I mean, Lebron can sit there and say he shuts
down social media, he doesn't see it, and nobody really
believes that. Um, the Durant burner accounts stuff. Every single
one of these star athletes in the NBA have ad campaigns.
They're built around get dressing stuff from the haters. So
I I think these guys, especially somebody like Lebron who's
(01:48:46):
only being prepared to MG every day now for about
three years, he he's really worried. He's really worried about
it and it and it bothers him, and I think
it's normal to these guys. So I try to give
him a little bit of a like, maybe this is
just how it like his defense mechanism, but it's just
weird to say. I didn't want to use it as
(01:49:07):
an excuse, but now, hey, everybody, my hand is broken,
and which which by the way, is is a legitimate excuse.
It's just the idea of like, wait, why are you
It's it's you know, it's one of those things. It's
like when it's like Ryan Rossilo joining us um. It's
a lot like if some if you say, hey, I
got the I had the best radio show and now
(01:49:28):
I have the best podcast. You saying it is different
than me saying, you know what, Roscilla's podcast is the
best that there is. Right, It's like you got it,
even if it's a plant. It's better if somebody else
says it than if you say it. And if somebody
else simply said, like, hey, you know his hands broken
and he was like, look, I don't make any excuses
on this stuff. I'm fine. I can play like no,
but is your hand broken? Like there may be a
(01:49:50):
broken bone in my hand and that was a little swollen,
is fine? Or if we didn't know about until afterwards,
it would become stuff of lore. Instead, it's like he
gets them playing the finals and now for the first
time we're going to see a rap and hear something
about it. It just struck me as incredibly odd. Yeah,
and then of course everybody just digs in and starts
finding videos. There was a video of gapping up everybody
(01:50:11):
out of the way the tunnel with that hand didn't
work like there's an issue and then breakdown a steel
goal percentage shots beyond tense. It did drop down pretty significantly,
but even though his numbers are still over all pretty good. Um,
you know, we've we've trashed other players for punching anything
and you know, getting right marstim Yeah, he cut his hands,
(01:50:35):
So you know, we think those guys are selfish and
serve the Lebron really get a lot of that. Um.
You know, I just think that anything like it keeps
coming back, Like if you decided Lebron is not better
than Jordan, then you're gonna kill him for that. And
if if you have been somebody in the last year
says you know what I think, like this time I
felt about it. Here's that ability wise, Like you're not
(01:50:56):
going to convince me that Jordan is way beyond what
Lebron is. Came people love. But if we're just doing
the one lost as a theme like I can't win,
it's not we're talking about like these two different things.
It's it's resume which can't be fixed, versus ability, which
I don't. I don't really see any gap between the
two players, but I think it has to be kind
of read as a player who care about it and
(01:51:17):
then try to position like everything as a defense of it,
like he did something in the post game against the
Celtics and that they clenched out against Boston where you
know he was about team righting is everybody knocks my teammates.
Everybody knocks all these guys, and you're like, cares like
it's not a very good team around you. I know
what you're supposed to say. The leader like, I don't
have a problem with going yeah, I can do that good.
(01:51:39):
I mean the problem is really gonna do it? And
then a couple of sentence a reader he does, you know,
I know I have to show up like more than
the other the floor. You're like, well, then you're just
sort of confirming what we've all said about your teammates.
So um, I do think it's a weird space to
live in your own head dealing with these things that
are like such such bigger deals than than just normal
people have in their everyday life. I also think like
(01:52:00):
we're raising kind of a generation of basketball players that
that don't deal with real life right. They don't like
the like the the the problems or issues or uh
relationships that you normally have growing up, like you just
don't have those anymore. Like you you don't you never
go to your wallet to pick up a tab when
you're you know, when you're coming out, you're never straping
(01:52:22):
together money. I mean, there's just the and And I'm
not trying to make it out like, well it was
better back in the day, because so many things are
actually better now, But there there is something too, the
realness of people, flaws and and and the positive attributes
that we kind of eliminate now we've kind of muted
because we've tried to make everything in their lives perfect.
(01:52:45):
And they're just really good basketball players that do really
good works off the floor. And I'm not taking shots
at them, but no one who's a real person would
think that was a good idea. And then I think
others close to him like, hey, this is a great idea.
Let's get that message out there that your hand was broken,
um and look if it was broken, it was broken.
And and sometimes when guys are like, oh, injuries, Earnest,
(01:53:07):
He's like yeah, actually, sometimes they are like I don't
want to you know, nobody wants the quarterback that's every
week talking about how hurd he is, because then if
nobody wants to hear that. But you know, you might
be right with this generational thing. But here's the other
thing I don't like. I just finished reading Friday Um
Fall River Dreams Again, Heron's book, which is written in
ninety nine three. So this is like right around with
(01:53:27):
you and Iron high school. We're almost the same age
as Heron and the coach. All he says in the
book over and over through all their challenges and struggles
is he's like these kids today, man, He's like, they're
not afraid of anything. They challenge authority, you know. And
I just I wonder if we're actually just observing the
same cycle of differences between generations and it's actually not
(01:53:47):
any different. Like I can't imagine what it must have
been like for our grandparents to raise our parents and
have them go from leave it to beaver to doing
drugs outside. Listen to Jefferson Airplane Free Love, you know, Like,
you know how weird that must have been. And like,
and we're sitting here are talking about kids in today's
generation feeling more protected and more confused and not challenging enough,
which all may be true, But I don't know that
(01:54:08):
through the history of time will ever have an older
generation look at the next generation coming up and admire
them as much as we sort of challenge them and
say how different they are and how much they don't
get it. I just think it's a cyclical thing that
that that I completely agree with. I mean, all these
many of these arguments have been had before, right for
for forever, and you're like, yeah, that's never seen that before. Like, yeah,
(01:54:31):
actually it has happened before, but it is it is
interesting on how we have these these cyclical arguments again
about kids, the kids these days. You're exactly exactly right.
Check out download his podcast, listen to it. It is
really good. He doesn't have to say it himself. He's
Ryan Russillo. I'm Doug God. Thanks so much for joining us, right,
thanks for having me. I really appreciate all right, dude,
(01:54:52):
let's uh, let's get you an update in one second. First,
cars are a lot like sports. You gotta have the
right tools you want to go far. Luckily, autozonn as
free loan tool program with over a hundred especially tools
get the job done right, stopping to day, getting the zone,
auto zone. What do you have, Steve? You know, after
that conversation about Lebron. Do you remember when Kobe Bryant
had the bad knee in the finals they beat the
(01:55:14):
Celtics in seven. He was getting his knee drained during
the playoffs, and then we found out a month after
the finals, Oh, he had knee surgery. He was putting
that off because they were still alive in the postseason.
We found out later, Oh, that's why he couldn't hit
a shot in Game seven. It was a low scoring
game and all of that. For Lebron to say, I
pretty much played the last three games with a broken hand,
can't you see years from now fans will take it
(01:55:37):
as fact and say, ah, yeah, but Lebron was playing
with a broken hand the whole time. It's gonna take
on the life of like wardrobe malfunction at the Super Bowl,
where people just accept the phrase as if it was true. Yeah,
well only here's attention. So I'm doing his first things
first on Wednesday, and you know, Nick is Mr Lebron James.
Should I break out at a brace in the hand? Yes,
(01:55:57):
and just pretend like, oh, yeah, I did this whole
show that I do at the very end, by the way,
I did this whole show with the broken hand. Pretty
much pretty much a broken hand. I will be disappointed
if you don't. I found it on the desk a
couple of times. Didn't feel really really all that good.
It's you've been playing hurt the whole time. You just
had to let us now, so do the last segment
of it, right, last segment that more minutes, but just
(01:56:20):
uh yeah, I did this whole show with the broken hand.
Dwayne Casey will coach the Detroit Pistons, signing a five
year deal. Casey's Raptors were eliminated by Lebron's Cavaliers and
each of the last three post seasons, despite over fifty
wins in Toronto each of the last three regular seasons.
Detroit does not have a first round selection in this
month's draft. That went to the Clippers for Blake Griffin,
who will make over thirty million dollars this year. Luca
(01:56:43):
don Sitch reportedly kept his name in the NBA draft.
Today was the deadline. He just won the EuroLeague m
VP at age nineteen, six ft eight inch point guard.
As for the Dallas Cowboys, they are close to a
new six year contract, according to NFL Network, with guards
Zack Martin that will make him the highest paid guard
in the league. Northwest Western added quarterback Hunter Johnson, a
transfer from Clemson and a m MLB action. Tonight, it's
(01:57:06):
Arizona hosting Pittsburgh and Paul gold Schmidt batting two oh
nine to start the month batting five d this month
has been named NL Player the Week. The Diamondbacks are
first in the NL West, two and a half games
up on the Giants and on the idle Dodgers. Back

Dot com fall us on Twitter and Facebook will put
it out there as well. The press, Steve the second,
(01:58:10):
what he got, my friend, what's in the press? Well,
we're just getting something from your beloved producer. I just
heard the quote from Bob Meyers, general manager of the Warriors,
who says his contract offer to Kevin Durant can start
at max money and max years. K D controls the
negotiation quote whatever he wants. I mean, look, it's gonna
be up to Katie. If Katie for any reason wanted
(01:58:31):
to take less money, he could. But it is fascinating.
I wanted. I I wonder what There's been talk by
a couple of Warriors players about some issues behind the
scenes in the locker room. I would guess that they're
gonna gut that bench and remake it mostly with veteran
players that are hungry, hungry in a championship. That'd be
(01:58:53):
my that'd be my guest. And what about the contact contract,
the well, the five years that got mentioned this weekend.
I it was a Friday interview where he said he
might only play till mid thirties. Durant, Well, he's not
thirty yet, so five year contract would take him to
thirty five, so and then it doesn't really affect him.
And you know, like, look um, who knows how his
body feels at the end of the season. I think
(01:59:14):
he's wired a little bit different, But like thirty five
is not. He's not a young eight. When you start
playing in the NBA at nineteen twenty years old, that's
not a short career. You know. Lebron's played fifteen years.
I think the assumption is that he's gonna play until
he's forty. But Lebron's wired a little bit differently. I
don't know if this much success in this shortan period
time won't make Kevin Durant want to walk away. It's
also when you talk to something, you talk to somebody
(01:59:37):
at the end of a long season which is really draining,
like I just won a championship. You're like, look, I
don't know, I'll do it five more years. We'll see
to the NFL. Julio Jones, a holdout and Falcons general
manager Thomas Dimitrov has released the following statement after the
other players reported for mini camp today. What we have
been in contact with Julio and his reps. We will
(01:59:59):
not discus us those conversations publicly. We understand the concerns.
It's not ideal. We have much respect for him. Um
wait one more, one more time on that Julio Jones
not showing up, but they are in talks with his
team and they consider the talks productive and constructive. These
are mandatory things. So like when NFL Network reports Khalil
(02:00:22):
Mack not expected for the Raiders midicamp, this can mean fines. Yeah, look,
I think, um uh, I think that Julio Jones wants, deserves,
will get a new contract. Everything's in balance there, dude.
I mean you know, I know we're gonna get to
Earl Thomas. The difference is Julio Jones never went into
a competitor's locker room and said come get me if
(02:00:44):
I'm available. Yes, Earl Thomas on Twitter for those who
didn't see it, said I'm not going to any Seahawks
functions until I get this worked out. Khalil Mack, meanwhile,
is under the fifth year option of his rookie Pact.
He wants something that, according to NFL Network, would have
guarantees in excess of sixty five million on a long
term deal starting minicamp. Yeah. Look, all of these, all
(02:01:08):
of these guys are all in the same position. Until
an NFL player is willing to miss games, game checks
in order to get a contract. It's all just noised
to me. That's right. Aaron Donald last year with the
Rams comes to mind. The Dallas Cowboys are, according to
NFL Network, ready to make right guard Zach Martin the
highest paid at his position. They're zeroing in on a
(02:01:29):
new six year contract. And we do have an MLB
item for you, as we have on Fox the All
Star Game in DC next month. In fact, Fox will
have the MLB All Star Game from Cleveland the next
year and from Dodger Stadium in But today we have
our first All Star balloting update National League, and three
Atlanta Braves are leading at their positions, including Freddie Freeman
(02:01:50):
a wide lead at first base. He's batting three forty.
Leading vote getter at an old from Orange County. Bryce
Harper number one in outfield votes, just bear early ahead
of the Braves Nick Markeics. Harper is leading the league
in homers, but he's batting about two thirty so far. Look,
here's my way of looking at All Star games in baseball.
It's not just about the first half of the season,
(02:02:12):
there's you've had a Hall of Fame career, what you've
done since last All Star Break, and what you've done
the first half of this year. All three go together. Meanwhile,
the World Cup starts Thursday morning on Fox TV. The
US could be co hosting the World Cup because the
vote is Wednesday, more than two countries will vote. It's
North America's versus Morocco on Wednesday. That kind of seems
(02:02:36):
like David versus Goliath. Get out there and pressed that
the press. It's not gonna be shared by all in
North America or by one country Morocco, Like, what's what's
the decision really there to make? Well, what's the decision
to make? Once you get in America, the numbers and
the money just spikes, what's the decision to make? Of course,
(02:02:59):
the Fox has the right. That means that the ESPN
will investigate. If they have the rights, they won't investigate.
Step got the show. We'll talk some more tomorrow on
Fox Sports Radio.
