Speaker 1 (00:00):
Thanks for listening to The Doug Gotleap Show podcast. Be
sure to catch us live every weekday three to six
Eastern twelve to three Pacific on Fox Sports Radio. Find
your local station for The Doug Gotleap Show at Fox
Sports Radio dot com, or stream us live every day
on the I Heart Radio app by searching fs are

(00:21):
you're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Maybe not the way
the NFL would have wanted to craft this offseason. Let's
shut yeah, there we are, there, we are, we are.
What a stunnard that there will be the first thing
we talked about. What a surprise. Oh my goodness, I've

(00:43):
already seen the joke of the seventh ring for the
Patriots about twenty times on Twitter. Bob Kraft if you
missed it. The Patriots owner charged with two counts of
soliciting a prostitute in Jupiter, Florida, after undercover sting Busted
Craft and a bunch of other guys going to a

(01:04):
massage parlor. What a Friday. This has every the workings
of everything that everybody probably listened to the show can identify.
With Number one, it's got Patriot hate with Bob Craft.
Number two, it's got a sting operations. So it's got
a police action and number three, it's got a discount
massage parlor. It's got it all, and it's got everything.
And maybe most damaging to Bob Craft is apparently it

(01:27):
has video and and that's what authorities were saying today
when they announced the charges against Bob Craft and a
host of other guys. There were a list of names
and apparently there will be more espns. Adam Schefter saying
that Patriots older Robert Kraft isn't even the biggest name
involved in lives down there. Maybe we shouldn't say that

(01:49):
there are other people lived down there. But we're gonna
play a game in forty five minutes. That's not going
to be it. It's not going to be guess who
is on the list. But this is this is a
huge bombshell, And I think it's interesting to start in
the point that you make is there is so much
Patriots hates and this one they sort of got over it.
Everybody's sort of And I was at the Super Bowl

(02:10):
when they you know, when they kicked the rams, but
at the end there and everybody, I felt like everybody said,
you know what, we're gonna stop hating Tom Brady. He's
the best. We're gonna stop hating the Patriots. They win
as a team, and we're gonna stop. We We don't
have to like him, but but we can will tolerate
him because they are the greatest dynasty in modern professional sports.

(02:30):
And all that, all that hadria I didn't sense. I said,
so much hate and jealousy and angst after all their
other victories, but not this one, and this one felt like, okay, resignation.
The Patriots are the best. We give it to you, guys,
you got it. And now this and now we can
hate him again. We can hate him again. A guy
making six billion dollars go into a discountbassage parlor. Why

(02:52):
couldn't this have broken sup trafficing? This could have broken
Super Bowl Week. It would have been a lot better
because it was a boring week that entire week because stunning.
I'm they were dying to do that then too. I'm
sure they are this there was there was word that
leaked out. Charles Robinson, who covers the NFL and and
for Yahoo Sports, was on a show in Wisconsin and said,

(03:13):
there's going to be a story coming out in the
next five or six hours. That is going to get
everybody just their jaws are gonna drop. Was was essentially
the comment. And this was the story, and into the
Patriot part of it. I find it funny, Bill, because
there are Patriot fans out there. We heard a lot
of them at Super Bowl fifty three, most of four
to one, four to one was the ratio was unbelievable,

(03:34):
most of Mercedes ben Stadium backing the Patriots. And so
now you have this report that Bob Kraft is busted
in this prosecution ring, and you see Patriots fans saying,
first it was spy gate, then it was deflate gate,
and now it's this. Well, I know that's what we're saying.
First of let's start with with with Patriot fans. You
know what they're saying, you're seventy seven, you're getting a massage.

(03:56):
You go, boy, you go right, you know that's what
you're saying. You know that's what you say that right.
I'm sure. I'm sure if if we took calls, we
would take call. They would say that. So I think
the Patriots fans say, oh, this is nothing, but I
think everybody else is thinking this rich man, very wealthy man.
You know, perhaps if the allegations are true, the whole
narrative is he's praying on, you know, on women who

(04:20):
are being coerced into sex acts. Yes, and and that's
a whole other story here of these these women being
brought in to be sex slaves and thinking that they
were coming to the United States for other employments, actually
massage powers and they get shuttled in between them. Yeah,
that's that's And apparently the average costs a massage there
what had said sixty seventy bucks, So what's the six

(04:43):
billion dollars? And it's I guess his chauffeur would take
him there. This is all allegations on the paper. His
chauffeur would take him there. So that's kind of bizarre.
Big limousine pull up from the multiple times at a
strip mall, did you get their laundry done? The next,
at the at the next and over. There was one
on Pico and Lincoln that is now a tax place.
But whenever I would have to go and do laundry,

(05:05):
you always see some shady spots. And then all of
a sudden, one day the massage parlor was no more.
In a few months later, a tax place movie. Okay,
so everybody gets people listen to show. Probably get that
there are massage parers out there. What I don't get
is so they had cameras in there. Aren't you when
you get massage, aren't you like on your back? Would
you see a camera? How do you not see a camera?

(05:26):
It's dark, it's dark. Maybe it's next to this, to this,
to the speaker. Maybe it's hidden that way. Maybe wait, wait, wait, wait,
you've got a great knowledge of this day. What do
you mean about a speaker to a chiropractor where it
is officially everything is above the counter. I have a
hip problem, Bill, That is why I go to a chiropractice.
What it plays rain music, So it's like raining and

(05:48):
very soothing. That's what it is. So you're probably right.
It's probably in the space. So if you saw a
red light, you would be like, that's just to tell
us that the speakers are working and that they're on
That is not a camera from the Jupiter Police Department.
That is not what that is for a couple of
these women apparently were informants as part of this sting operation.
But listen, the Patriots have come out with a statement

(06:10):
saying and I'll read the statement from a spokesperson from
Robert Kraft. We categorically deny that Mr Kraft engaged in
any illegal activity. Because it is a judicial matter, we
will not be commenting further that from Robert krafts have
it on film, they can't to not so we'll see.
I mean, I guess and maybe and you know, maybe
there's none of this will turn out to be nothing.
But I doubt they'd have a press conference and with

(06:34):
video evidence and put this man's name into it knowing
they're gonna get sued down if this thing is not
if this thing doesn't hold these guys the department, Yeah
for you you know, and and again again it was
it was so even even like did you think that
that he kissed Brady on the lips after the after yeah,
well yeah, just from the from the Tom TV series

(06:57):
that we saw on Facebook, Like I figured that that
is a part that is something that now and so
people even thought that was okay, you know what it was,
but it was cool. It was like everybody everybody had
accepted this guy and then all this thing thing that
him involved with rappers wearing chains, doing breakdancing. I think
everybody thought that was that was all okay, people, I

(07:18):
think we're okay with that. Now that seems to have
a whole different light to it. It's almost seems like
this this aging billionaire out of control. This is supposed
to be the NFL celebrating its season, and there hasn't
been a good story in the first two weeks of
the NFL offseason since a boring super Bowl and a
boring super Bowl week that nobody seemed to care about.

(07:40):
So the NFL cannot be happy about this. But big place, wait, wait, wait,
you don't think Roger Goodell is just on the floor
and holding his sides laughing at this, thinking I got
you now, I got you now. I'm sure that there
are some of the Commissioner's office and there may be
other NFL owners as well that are are having a
good chuckle at. But I also think there may be

(08:01):
some NFL Yes, yeah, that could there, before the grace
of God, that could have been me that that that
would be the issue if you're one of those saying,
oh yeah, jeez, everything that that you said. And there
was an owner in the past in the NFL that
was dealt punishment for dealing with the law, and that
was Jim Mercy of the Indianapolis Colts who was busted

(08:23):
for driving under the influence of drugs, and he was
busted with OxyContin and other drugs in his system. He
ended up getting suspended by the National Football League. The
question is now, how far does the NFL go with
a punishment for Robert Crafton? Does a punishment even matter
for an owner of the of an NFL tea? Well,
I think that the punishment there are a people are

(08:43):
saying take away draft picks. They're not gonna take away
draft picks. They didn't take away draft picks from the Colts.
They I think the embarrassment is a punishment itself, but
I think they'll probably do something. I think they'll probably
make if if he's if he please out on this thing,
it's it's only a misdemean now it's only a misdemean,
but none it's still a conduct issue. And it's the
most humiliating kind of misdemeanor. If he please out, they'll

(09:03):
find him or something. I mean, because because Goodell is
gonna get his after going through all this. And here's
the question here for you, Dan, what so we had
spy gate in to flake Gate? What gate are they
gonna call this. I've seen they're gonna call this massage gate.
Can this is not original? This is not original? And John,
get the dump button ready. I've heard the tug rule.

(09:25):
Oh my god, what do you what do you think that?
That is not original to me? That is original to
too many others on Twitter who are having fun today
that that. But as a thumbs up for that, but
I think you need a gate to this. You need
to have a gate what what was the name of
the of the parlor? It was it was Orchids of

(09:47):
Asia Orchids Gate. Uh. I don't know. We we gotta
do during this show. We gotta think of a gate fist,
because that's everybody's gonna I mean, every everybody mentions the
tug rule, and they'll mention the tug rule, which is
pretty But I don't know how you top I don't
know how you top tog rule really look like that?
That's yeah, but but but that doesn't describe exactly like that.

(10:10):
That's a reference to an old rule that that the
patriots to advange of. But I don't think that is
as is as compelling as You've gotta have everything today
has a gate on it. Alright, gotta have a gate, alright.
Send it to Bill Plaski on Twitter at Bill Plasky.
I'm at Dan Buyer on Fox. We will take suggestions
on what this can be called. You know how big
of a deal this is. This led the news at

(10:32):
eleven o'clock this morning in l A. The local news
Kelly ten more accounts put against him today or charged
today and this was the top. We had two police
chases last night in l A. And Bob Kraft directly
hits the exact demographic everyone is trying to get, males
eighteen to thirty five. Everyone can associate with this. This

(10:54):
is this is something, uh, the Craft Bob Craft story
just beginning. But don't but don't you think Patriot fans
will actually be kind of hard and thinking, you know what,
he's out there, he's party and he's living large. We
can live through him. I mean, don't you think that
Patriots are going to say that, oh yeah, there were
some probably stuck up for Aaron Hernandez. You know that

(11:15):
it's a big difference. There's a big difference on that
big gap. But the point saying is if they're going
to that extreme, then they're definitely going to support. Is
there any part of you that thinks, hey, seventy seven
dude wants to get a massage, what the heck is
wrong with it? Be honest, be honest, take away your
journalistic cap for a second and say I don't like

(11:36):
part that the women were put in up with that.
I would agree with that. So that's what That's what
made like him. Party and I like him, breakdance and
I like him. We're in the chains. I don't like
him doing, you know, doing being taken in the the
word with the word sex trafficking involved. That's bad because
that's what happens to these places. These women. Again, then

(11:56):
they live in the back rooms of these places, and
they moved from place to and I'm guessing he probably
didn't know the inner workings of the orchids of Asia,
just knew what was provided. That would be my guest. Okay, okay,
we got Rob Parker, We got Rob Parker checking in.
I don't want to read this. You've already read tug Rule.
You you you read this, You read park Say I did?

(12:17):
I did read that. I may have to say, are
you gonna say it or not? I was gonna maybe
save it for his show, So then he's the one
that can pay the piper on that. Okay, okay, because
I certainly I'm not going to read that, but it's
actually pretty good. Well, I don't know though, we don't
know if that if that's exactly true. We don't know
if that's exact find out at seven o'clock Eastern time. Parker.

(12:38):
You do that, Chrisprus Rob Parker, we'll have their naming
of the gate involving Robert crast Please give us ideas
it had, but it has to be something we can
read on the air. He's Bill Plashky. I'm Dan Buyer
again on Twitter at Bill robber Craft, and I'm at
Dan Buyer on Fox. The Doug Gottlieb Show is brought
to you by Farmers. At Farmers, we've seen almost everything,

(12:59):
so we know how to cover almost anything. When it's
game time, have an experienced player to help you stay
ahead of the game, but their experience into play at
Farmers dot com are farmers. What do you think NFL
players think of Bob Kraft's situation? Well, we'll ask a
Hall of Famer next year on Fox. Be sure to
catch live editions of The Doug dot Leap show week

(13:20):
days at noon eastern three pm Pacific on Fox Sports
Radio and the I Heart Radio app. From a car
landing on a roof to a car landing in the pool,
We've covered it. Talk to farmers. We know a thing
or two because we've seen a thing or two. We
are farmers under written my Farmers truck Fire Insurance Exchanges

(13:41):
and affiliates product unavailable in every state. He's Bill Plastic.
Go ahead, Johnny, Yeah, go ahead. No, let's hear it.
I'm sorry, this is what this is what happens if
you get the pinch hitters in Bill. That guy's name
is Johnny, Johnny Ramos, that great voice. I love it
when he puts my voice in his name. I'm keep

(14:04):
my keep my name in your mouth. John's just the
guy who hits the buttons. Oh John, John, Bob's the
voice guy. John's the one with the stunning good looks
that you're looking at. He's a Bill Plashki. I'm Dan Buyer.
This is the Doug Gottlieb Show. By the way, the
responses on you wanting to name this Bob Crash absolutely
brilliant and absolutely unable to say on the air any

(14:28):
of them, and they're tremendous. We're laughing. You should know
anybody who's tweeted us. We are on the floor holding
our side, laughing at We may be able to reveal
a few in about ten minutes or so. But in
the meantime, in the meantime, we're joined by a Hall
of famer doing some war covering the Alliance of American Football.
Of course, we want to get the latest on the
Pittsburgh Steelers and so much more. Hall of Famer Rod

(14:48):
Woodson enjoys this here on the Doug Gottlieb Show on Fox. Hey, Rod,
good to talk to you. How are you? I'm doing
you know this is this is a unique start. But
I don't know if you heard about the news with
Robert Kraft. But what would players? I think, what is
the player perspective when they hear their owner uh be
charged with soliciting a prostitute? What what would a player

(15:11):
think if they heard their owner had to go through
this uh act like some of the players sometimes, I mean,
it's you know, he's human. I don't know if you
know he you know, he categorically denied um uh those charges,
but you know, putting yourself in that type of situation.
It doesn't matter how much money you have. Um, you

(15:33):
still can get put in situations where, um, you know,
things can be said about you, uh right or wrong,
where you gotta prove your innocence. Um you know, no
matter what the case is, well now right, And again
this is not why we brought you on today. So
I hate even uh sticking with the subject. But do
you think if this is if he's found guilty of

(15:53):
this misdemeanor, do you think he should be suspended by
the league? You think the leads take any of you,
you'll suspend the player. So you know, I think, you know,
those rules have to apply to all the above. Matter
of fact, I think they should be held to a
higher standard because it's their league. So um, you know,
it'd be interesting to see what happens. Um It just

(16:16):
you know, when I first thought, I was like, oh
my goodness, I couldn't believe. Like the last first I
thought what happened to would be uh you know, Robert Kraft,
Rod Woodson jotting us here on the Doug got Leave
Show on Fox Sports Radio. There are other doings. And
by the way, to your point about owners being held
to a higher standard, it's in like the NFL rules.
So when they suspended Jimmer say years back, that was

(16:36):
part of Roger Goodell's statement of front office and ownership
are held to a higher standard, and that's why Jimmercy
ended up getting his punishment for a d u Y.
But I'm curious about not the dysfunction at it massage
parlor in Jupiter, Florida, but the function that's going on
in Pittsburgh And your wildest dreams, could you have imagined
the Pittsburgh Steelers and really the Rudy family of having

(16:58):
to go through the situations that they have with Levian
Bell and Antonio Brown this offseason? How does this happen
in the Steelers front office? You know, that's that's a
great question. Levi Bell just you know, they offered him
the money, uh held it was not the exactly what
he wanted, so he felt that he was worth more. Um,
it was really about the total amount of money guaranteed

(17:20):
to Levian Belle and that's what he was arguing about
not being in Pittsburgh. Was not to say, now Antonio
Brown completely different case. Um, you know something with him
and Ben I would believe I'm not exactly sure with
that one. I haven't talked to a b uh in
a while. Um, you know, it just it makes it's

(17:40):
sad that you know, when you play for the Black
and Golden you see this this nonsense going on um
with uh, Levian Bell and Antonio Brown. You know it
should be It's just you know, to me, I think
Mike has to be. He has to be he has
to rule a little bit stronger and a little bit
harder with his players. I think he let it get
to a certain to a point and you know, for

(18:02):
a b obviously a lot of people are saying there's
no return and that's that's kind of sad because he's
a good player, um. And you know, Mike just to
me wasn't critical and not critical, but he wasn't even
have enough discipline to the forefront of what ab started
the little things, you know. You know, you know, I
think with his Instagram when he had his Instagram account

(18:24):
after the game he was going to live streaming on
the Reddle type of things the next week. He should
not have played. And I think if you put that
message out early, it could bosses everybody else in that
locker room. But he let it live. And you know,
players feel that there should be equal opportunity for everybody
to do the same thing. And that's when you don't,

(18:44):
um have a good lockerroot well rod one more Steeler
thing that was in the news this week, and those
of us who don't have never wanted an NFL uniform
were fairly appalled by And I want to know what
your reaction was to it when Kevin Colbert, the Steelers
general manager, came out and said that Ben Roethlisberger has
the right to publicly scold his players because they're like
his fifty three children, and um, I just I just

(19:05):
thought that was the wrong message of saying that I
don't think you can lead like that. But but again,
I don't play, I never played, So I mean, how
do you feel about that? Well, first of all, Kevin
is not the head coach, So Kevin shouldn't be making
those statements about what Ben should and shouldn't do because
it affects Mike Comlin because Mike Thomas has to lead
the locker room. He has to be the guy to

(19:27):
the forefront of those fifty three players in the meeting
rooms when they gather together, not Kevin. So you know
I disagree with that statement. Um, I don't think players
can throw other players under the bus and that everything
is gonna be hockey door in the locker room. You know,
it's that's not the case, you know, I think, um,
you know, you need strong leadership and at times you

(19:48):
need to be held to a higher standard from your leaders.
But to throw people under the bus on a consistent
basis to the media, it's not the way to go
about it. Rod Woodson, John I guess here on Fox
Sports Radio, he's Bill Plashki. I'm Dan Buyer in for
Doug Gottlieb on The Doug Gottlieb Show. How much hate
can reside? So because CULVERTI said if they don't get
a deal, they're not going to trade him. Is it

(20:09):
has it gone too far? With ab also making the
owner's mentality comments, is can can that sort of hatred
and dislike surviving an NFL locker room? Well, you know,
if I'm Pittsburgh, I just wouldn't take any deal. I
wouldn't take a seventh round pick for a b I mean,
maybe is one of the top receivers in the National

(20:32):
Football I give not the best receiver in the National
Football League. So you know, somebody has to take his contract,
but somebody has to compensate the Steelers for what they're losing.
And I absolutely agree with that comment, Um that you
can't just you know, have a fire cell. Um. You know,
I don't know how how Ab really feels about the
locker room. I don't know how he really feels about

(20:53):
all the other players in the lock movie. Um. You know,
one thing that really disappointed me throughout the last two
years in Pittsburgh is that how many players in the
locker room talk to the media about other players. I mean,
that's like a sacred place that's always been that way. Um,
not not just in Pittsburgh, but in every locker room
in every major sport. It should be that way. And

(21:16):
to me, that shows a lack of leadership. When players
talk out about other players where they're not getting chestis
or they're not getting put in place by the other
players in the locker room, that shows me that they
don't have the leadership they need in Pittsburgh. Did you
ever think we'll be even talking about this with the Steelers?
Rod after? What? Seriously are you stud Are you stunned
it's become like this? And what has to change for

(21:38):
them to become the Steelers, you know, again with with
the integrity and the honor that that they've held themselves
back when you played well. As the leadership, it's it's
based on who's their leaders and you know have been
as your leader and Abe's your leader, Um, then you're
gonna have that type of situation because that's the type
of people they are. Um. You know, shave here was

(21:59):
going to be that guy, and I thought he would
have been a great leader because he's a good person, um,
you know, and they need people like that to the
forefront who are playing on the playing field, because it's
the basis. Because if you don't own your own locker
room as a player, and you let any players do
whatever they want to and say whatever they want to
to whoever they want to, it's going to get out

(22:21):
of hands. They're gonna start hurting feelings. And then when
you start doing that, you know, starting putting the divide
in the locker room. I've never seen the divided locker
room win a championship. How divided was it when you played?
Were there any locker rooms that maybe we're teetering on
this could get a little we know, we control that one,
like we I mean guys you know, kind of talk
crazy every now and then, and we just walk up

(22:42):
to him and say, hey man, no more of that.
You do it again, you're gonna have some issues in
the locker room. And now it doesn't really matter if
I was in Pittsburgh, if I was in San fran
if I was in Oakland, if I was in Baltimore. UM,
it was the same way. And you know, the players
have to take ownership into the locker room. What they do,
what they deem is allowable. And if they say anything

(23:03):
is allowable, then you're gonna have a split locker room.
But when they start respecting each other as human beings
and as players outside of football, that's when you have
the the really the chemistry to win a Super Bowl.
So we brought you on for the A A F
and we got to get to that. You've got a
front row seat to that is the football any good?
It is? It's a lot is really good. I'll tell

(23:25):
you what. UM, you look at it, and there's a
lot of players who are getting second chances, third chances,
and there's a lot of players are getting their first
time ever have an opportunity to play pro football. UM.
And and a lot of them are making taking advantage
of it. Um. You know, you look at a night
you know it's been just been, has been trying. They

(23:46):
try to do this before. When you're talking about the USFL,
somebody's competing to get the NFL. What I love about
the Alliance is they're not competing with the NFL. It's
a spring league. That's they're really a developmental league. But
it's good football, and um, you know, I didn't really
know what it was gonna look like, but after the
first week, I was like, you know what, these guys

(24:08):
are playing really good football. They fundamentally sound, They're being
talked good football. Um, they have certain rules in place
to kind of help. Um. Um, you know, the game
look good. But I like everything about it well. I
like the I like the second opportunities. I like another
platform where players can show their wears and hopefully other
players who are in their playing well can have another

(24:30):
opportunity to playing in the National Football League. Week three
of the Alliance getting underway this weekend. Two games on
Saturday at two games on Sunday. You can see Rod
talking about it on the NFL network. Is the Alliance
rolls on. We appreciate it Hall of Famer, have a
great weekend. We hope to do it soon. Thanks man. Alright,
I appreciate you guys. Thank you. Rod Woodson, Pro Football
Hall of Famer joining us here on the Doug Gottlieb
Show on Fox Sports Radio. He's Bill Plasky. I'm Dan Buyer.

(24:53):
We'll get to the tweets. Some of them, Bill, we
can name, we can say some of the scandals that
are listeners are. But I was right. Was I right
that everybody wants to put a gate on it? I
was right, Yes, everybody want everybody's got a gate for it. Yes,
you were there, and there were some creative gates and

Good afternoon, Dan and Bill. Police and Jupiter, Florida today

of misdemeanor solicitation of prostitution. A spokesperson for Kraft said,
and I quote been undressed. Oops, sorry, hit the wrong
button there first. Everybody's in on the joke. Everybody's having it.

(25:41):
Do you think he maybe put the cameras in the rooms?
He always got experience on the Jupiter, The spokesperson said, quote.
We categorically denied that Mr Craft engaged in any illegal activity.
Because it is a judicial matter, we will not be
commenting further unquote. Now police say the incident occurred between
January eighteenth and January For reference, the a f C

A couple of other notes, reporters have observed some Patriot
fans outside of the now shut down orchids of Asia
Day Spa in Jupiter taking selfies. I'm sure they're blaming.

(26:27):
They're blaming the Masseuses. Absolutely, there's there. They're they're they're
they're picketing the Masseuses. Probably. Meanwhile, up north, reporters have
staked out Craft's mansion in Brookline at Massachusetts and observed
the mailman punching in the code to open the gate,
but the gate would not open. The mailman said he
would just come back tomorrow elsewhere, way elsewhere. Major League

Asink it is the Doug gott leap shi You know,
I mean Bill Belichick does have experience with those spygate cameras.
But you know, but I want to know why are
they staking out his house? You want to be staking
out the local strip mall with a check cash next
to the check cash on store writing. By the way,
for business not good this week, for for for for
many of people. He's Bill Plashki. I'm Dan Buyer. It

(28:17):
was a good night last night for Lebron James. His
Lakers got a victory last night over the Houston Rockets
one eleven to one oh six in a game with
the Lakers trail by nineteen points. This is Lebron after
has win last night with t NT. We got a
fresh star for us. And that's the second half of
the season. You know, you know the trade dayline is over.
This is our squad. I'm happy with who we got. Um.

(28:40):
I love our squad and I look forward to seeing
how much continuing about Okay, I'm not convinced on the ladder.
But that's what I learned last night, that Lebron still
hates his teammates. You learned a lot because you had
a front road seat there last night. And I've been
very critical of Lebron in the last couple of weeks,
and he's not bought in. He's been detached. He's trying
to run the organization, micromanage it, and worried more about

(29:01):
Hollywood than than about his his own team. So, of course,
when Delebron did well last night and carried them to
a victory, what did that do? I dropped on the
bandwagon story time with this this is my story, had
to write something nice my column, and the only times
it completely changed with about eight minutes left in the game,

(29:21):
they were down nineteen, they came back in one. So
remember when Lebron James said this week that his playoff
intensity has been activated, he wasn't lying on Thursday night.
He was flying and flinging and fighting and displaying a
truth that folks around here are seeing for the first time. Goodness,
maybe this guy really can carry the Lakers to the playoffs.

(29:44):
It was only one game, only the first of twenty
five that will carry the Lakers to the end of
this disjointed season and either triumph for failure. But what
a night the Lakers coming back from a nineteen poort
deferenced against the superior Houston Rockets and table center to
scratch out at one eleven, one or six victory on
the heels of desperation and the back of James activation
can be a beautiful thing. Committee is say, we did

(30:10):
New York to win that award. So the niceness comes
from Bill Plashky. But I wasn't. I gotta admit a
little journalist insider is that I at halftime they were
they had been down by nineteen. I was fully prepared
to go after Lebron again because you know what happened

(30:30):
before the game, right before the game, this first game,
the second half of the season, twenty five game stretch,
all the pressure on the Lakers, and Lebron's got to
carry this team. He's gotta be up, He's got to
be involved and invested. What happens Space Space Jam Baby
spring Hill spring Hill Entertainment announced the Space Sham two
is coming out, and a few hours earlier they announced

(30:52):
a new edition of the Shop Lebron and Who's Gonna
Be On the shop Anthony and Antonio Brown. So I
did have a lot of my story Lebron's Hollywood business
is going a little bit better than this hardwood business,
and I had that lot. They had to be taken out.
I had several done that much sound because they were
down nineteen through the third right, no, in the in

(31:13):
the in the second quarter, and and they got it
back in the third. Did that I thought? I thought
it was. It was It was like it was, Yes,
it was right, it was nineteen manyway through the third year. Correct,
So yes, So I had to change this on a dime.
On a dime, I had to switch because I'm not
going to rip the guy after this, But yes I was.
I was going to ask the question again that people

(31:33):
in l A Are still asking, and we'll ask you
till the end of the season. Why did Lebron come here?
What's he here for? Here for Hollywood? Here to here
for the basketball? I I felt, if you, no matter what,
and this is the general public, you either think Lebron
is the greatest or you don't. And anything that happens
from now until the end of his playing career isn't
going to change it. Because the argument usually is just

(31:54):
up against Jordan's. There's no way he's going to win
three titles in l A in those four years, So
that's going to change anything. He would actually have to
win four because the Jordan defenders would say, well, Jordan
never lost in an NBA finals, So that, to me,
that conversation ended up being over. What I find amazing
with last night was how bad that loss was to
the Hawks where they just couldn't wait to get to

(32:16):
the All Star break, how bad the loss was to
the Indiana Pacers when all of that was going on,
And still how much Lebron I really think doesn't like
his teammates. And I'm gonna just point this out. You
heard the comments. His first was, this is the team
we've got, and then he added, I like my team.
I love my team. But remember when he was with
the Cavaliers Bill and you always saw Lebron taking pictures

(32:38):
with Kevin Love, Kyrie Irving, Richard Jefferson, Tristan Thompson. It
was everywhere all Star weekend. Last weekend in Charlotte, there's
a picture of team Lebron and all of his guys,
Team Tamper. Yeah, yeah, I haven't seen one group picture
of Lebron with any of his Laker teammates, well, he
hasn't been around him enough, really, he doesn't. And I

(32:58):
think his teammates don't really like him either. I think
it goes both ways. But and I was and I've
written about this in the Only Times ad nauseum again
to like last week, I wrote two different columns about it,
and people inside who know what's going on or like,
you know what, everything you wrote is right, but just beware.
Lebron still knows if Lebron can turn along, he can

(33:20):
still turn it on and he can turn this thing around.
And I'm like, no, I think it's beyond the point
of turning around. And I was wrong. Last night he
we saw Lebron. It was it was amazing. It was
it was you gotta step back and say, from the
fourth quarter on, he literally carried them to that victory
against the Rockets team that was just completely completely disheveled
and disjointed and uh, and it's like, oh my gosh,

(33:42):
this is what Lebron has been talking about. And I
still think I wish he had activated a little earlier
than now, and I wish he'd realize where he's at
and that his team is not that great, and they
need him more than they need him in Cleveland, especially
in the West and with the schedule. But we saw
last night what he's been promising. At least for one night,
it came through. Now we'll see if the album how

(34:02):
much this continuous. You have twenty four games left. You
got a game against the Bucks, a couple against the Warriors,
went against the Raptors. They's got a really tough nightedule ninth,
toughest schedule still in the fourth From the rest of
the way entry last night, it was, well, the point
is they're gonna have a difficult road, but you just
have the Kings and Clippers ahead of them, and the
Clippers are gonna tank no matter what they're telling you.

(34:24):
Don't forget this anybody at the Clippers. If they don't
get the lottery, if they make the playoffs, they lose
their first round draft pick to Boston. So they're not gonna,
you know, to get waxed in the first round by
Golden State or get a first round draft pick. They're
gonna keep the pick. Clippers are gonna tank. So it's
basically Sacramento against the Lakers. The Lakers next three games

(34:45):
New Orleans, Memphis in New Orleans, so you can get
a little they're huge. But look at their last five games,
their last five games of the season, and I put
I put this in this story Oklahoma City, Golden State, Clippers,
Jazz and Trailblazers. So you know, four tough for the
five games. The Clippers always played a Laker stuff. Anyway,
what could be interesting is Golden State could have Number

(35:06):
one wrapped up, and do you want to beat the
Lakers to keep him out? Do you want to rest
the guys something something for down the road at least
too much. Yeah, yeah, your idea, right, that is true.
But I but I do think they'll play harder. And
I do think again, I think this thing is long
away from over with. But we saw and as you know,
we saw what everybody's been talking about last night. I mean,
he he drove the link to the floor for a dunk.

(35:27):
He's he made three or four tremendous passes to guys
open for threes. You know, he got rebounds, he played defense.
I mean he just he he woke up and it's like,
where's this Ben and Kenny Kenny continue the only thing,
the other nagging thing is that he took himself out
of the game in the second quarter for several minutes.
He was tired of hurting or something. And after the
game he seemed tired and hurting, and you just wonder

(35:51):
sometimes how much how much can he consistently on his
thirty four year old body, consistently do what he had
last I thought he was tired of his teammates at
times last night too, when he was aw some of
the jumpers put oh my god, he sees expression one point.
At one point he took the ball and threw it
over his head the length of accord and frustration. He's
Bill Plasky. I'm Dan Buyer. A paint It Red has

would be would qualify those are in the running for
the Metal Stand. He's Bill Plaski. I'm Dan Buyer. This

I'm just wonder if there's a camera like the like

should have seen in the future because now we play
a game. This is game time side on the Doug

(37:44):
us play a game. Hello Isaac, Hello Dan and Bill.
And I think Dan kind of guessed what the game
might be. Was he right? Because I can see in
the future and it's all the rundown sheet Isaac. Let's
see if that can continue behind the curtain. Learning a
lot about the radio vent today rundowns hidden cameras. Dodgers

(38:07):
as Clayton Kershaw was excused from a workout yesterday will
not get on a mound again until next week. Manager
Dave Roberts said it was just an armed kind of thing.
No one has alarmed or worried. Kershaw himself said today, quote,
just taking a few days, it's super early. Just want
to make sure things are right unquote psychics. Should Dodger
fans be worried? I I see I see worry in

(38:30):
the future, but not just because of Clayton Kershaw. I
actually see things being fine with Kershaw. We're still a
month out from opening day, more than a month out
from opening day. The issue that I see is the
Dodgers as a whole with their pitching staff. If Clayton
Kershaw isn't one and now we have another injury popping

(38:50):
up right after a three year extension was signed for
almost a hundred million dollars, that's what I would be concerned.
Is even your guy who's maybe running off into the
sunset has got an issue. So I think there's some
concern as the Dodgers overall pitching staff. Yes, I think
the Dodgers definitely need to be concerned. Kershaw is not
the picture he was even when healthy. We saw this

(39:12):
late and last late and the last season, and he's not.
He's not even the number one or maybe number two
starter right now. So if he's hurt, the depth of
their rotation is huge, is huge, and they that they
haven't spent any money this offseason. You'd say, go out
and get Dallas Kaiko, he'd be great. But they should
be concerned that the Dodgers are taking a lot of
their money from the fans and not putting it back

(39:32):
into the team, and they're not getting the kind of
starting pitching that they need to survive. I think let's
go down the freeway psychics earlier today, Manny Machado officially
introduced as the newest member of the Padres ten year,
three hundred million dollar deal. How many playoff appearances for
the Padres in the next five years? I say one,

(39:57):
maybe too. Mannie Machado is gonna kill that clubhouse. He's
gonna kill that culture. He's gonna I was with him
with the Dodgers that I saw it firsthand what he
did to that Dodger clubhouse. He's a malingerer. He doesn't hustle.
He plays me once, he makes you know flash, he
plays occasionally. He's not a winner, and the potteries are
always one year away from being one year away. They're

(40:19):
still very young. May yeah, well no, uh, maybe two tops.
I'll go with Bill's assessment on that. I think that
the n L West is going to be more open
in the next couple of years. But the point being is,
I don't think it's going to be an annual event
in San Diego of October baseball. This is game time

American Football Rolls Honors. We like to just call it

(41:47):
the Alliance. He's the CEO and co founder of the
newest football league taking over the United States. Charlie Ebersolt
joins us here on Fox Sports Radio. Hey, Charlie, how
you doing man? You read it just the way we
wrote it. Thank you appreciate that. I will say this
alliance is a lot easier than a a F like
like it too to roll off of just saying the alliance.

(42:07):
That just seems to be a lot easier for guys
in our we really wanted and that was a big
thing for us. Is that the reason we have three
stars on the logos. It's supposed to be an alliance
of the fans the players in the game, and that's
what we shot to do. That being said, a a
f dot com is a lot easier to type in
than alliance dot com. So we find a balancing act.
Let's start here because it's the big news of the week.

(42:28):
What happened with the players payments in week one of
the alliance was was it a missed payment? What happened
in with the players ended up being compensated? Explained to
us the situation. Yeah, So look, we're a startup and um,
I'm definitely learning a lot of lessons about getting a
business to go this big this fast. We went from
three employees thirteen months ago to employees today. UM. And

(42:51):
in that process, one of the things that we realized
about eight weeks ago is we needed all of the
people that were going to be on the field to
be under the same insurance, which was to be different
than all of the corporate insurance. And so we made
the decision to make the change. And when we made
that decision, we underestimated the complexity of the change, and
so UM we ended up UH. When we made the
change after the first week payroll got delayed. It was

(43:14):
not a function of whether or not there was cash
in the bank. Is a function of the fact that we,
frankly overestimated our ability to make a pretty seismic change
in a boat that was already pretty big. The good
news was for us it happened at the exact same
time that Tom Dundon gave us a quarter billion dollars
as an investment. And those two things happening at the

(43:34):
same time read one way. And and I spent a
lot of time on the phone of players. I called
Trent Richardson at very early on and said, you know,
how's it going, because he's really got the pulse of
the of a lot of as an older player, etcetera.
And he said, man, I got my pay stub on Friday.
I got paid a couple of days later, but I
knew the money was coming, and so I went into
the locker room and said, things are gonna be okay.

(43:55):
And UM, that was huge for us. Um, we're we're
a league of opportunity, We're a league of giving play.
There's a chance to get back to the NFL. That's
our goal. And UM, I think that the players have
given us a grace period to get our feeting footing
underneath us as we build a league. Um, certainly from
our perspective, UM, this couldn't this, I like saying it

(44:17):
couldn't go better, And we couldn't possibly learn more every
day than we're learning. Everyone has ever attempted to do
this Before US had infrastructure. When my dad invinced it
with the XFL seventeen years ago, General Electric, the biggest
company of the world at the time, owned NBC HR
payroll insurance. That stuff was built in. That was my
dad never had a conversation about how you structure a
payroll for players. UM. I now know more about payroll

(44:41):
than I would ever care to know. UM, and we're learning. Ironically,
we're moving the entire company or the majority of the
company is going over to this system, and um, we've
been much more careful about the application of that process.
Al Right, So you don't the money that was given
to you by Dundon invested you didn't need yet to survive. No, well,
listen this ard answers. No, the long answers were a startup.

(45:02):
So we're raising the money in series right, So we
raised a seed when we first started, then we raised
a series one, then we raised a series two, so
on and so forth. Dundin after the first week of ratings,
when I did not know, I've only learned this over
the last couple of days that Dundon had actually been
looking at our business for more than a year um,
and he had a lot of mutual friends, a lot
of media players that knew a lot about our business,

(45:23):
and so he had sort of uh, He'd said internally,
I guess two people, there's no way I'm investing in
this business until I see what happens. Then the ratings
happened opening weekend. They were huge. We had a number
of different people come to us and offer to invest
at different at different valuations, and Dundin called me, having
just had breakfast with a friend of mine. He called
me and said, um, listen, you're gonna raise your Series
B and then your seriously or you could just take

(45:45):
Series infinity from me. And I said what does that
even mean? And he said, how would you like to
never raise money again? And I was like, so I
signed on the dotted line? Or is do you need
an initials somewhere? I mean it was a game changing
conversation for two reasons. That's a ton of money, right,
quarterbillion dollars the company's thirteen months old. But the second
part of it that's even more is he is infrastructure.

(46:05):
He has massive companies, a healthcare company, a car company,
all of these different things, top golf, and so we
step in all of a sudden, CFO, CEO, CMO, all
these positions that we were pulling together as we're building
this company. I mean, look, we jumped out of an
airplane while we were sewing the parachute. For a large degree,
it's a startup and all of a sudden, he uses

(46:26):
the term we went from being a let's call it
an adolescent business to a mature business with the stroke
of one pen. Well Steve Spurrier, or the head coach
of or Ledo, Charlie Ebertsaul, co founder of the Alliance
of American Football jointing Bill Plasky, and myself Dan Buyer.
Here on Fox Sports Radio, Spurrier said that an investor
backed out in Dundan moved in. Is is that correct?

(46:46):
Is that there's aspects of there. So let me start
by saying, there's certain things that I can say, and
there's some times I can't say. I'm I have a
fiduciary responsibility to my company and obviously I'm under a
bunch of confidentialitagrams. UM. One of the challenges that I've
had with the company this big is how you communicate.
I'm based in San Francisco, Steves and Orlando, gms are
all so so there's been a lot of communications. One

(47:08):
of the things that Dundon has almost immediately shifted for
me is, hey, by the way, this is how you
communicate to employees at the same time like, oh, that's um.
You know, we've had a number of investors who have
wanted to be a part of a football league. You
know how this goes. There's every spring league has had
the challenge. We've had investors that have come in and
come out, and who who on paper looked like they

(47:29):
were legit where we could call their bank and oh
they've got a half a billion dollars and okay, we
can see it, etcetera. And then when a time when
it comes time for the check to actually appear in
our bank, um uh, it hasn't happened. And so we've
we've moved accordingly. We built the structure fortunately around a
lot of blue chip investors like founders fund and churning groups,
so we had protections in place so that we weren't

(47:49):
going to die. Um. But it has been um uh,
it's been a challenging experience, certainly from I'll tell you
quite honestly and candidly. Emotionally. I think my mother preferred
when I did the show about tracking down terrorists in
the Congo for two years with the Navy Seals. Then
she does this because she calls me and she said,
how's it going? And I'm like, oh, my god. The

(48:11):
guy that was introduced to me by the you know,
Adam Silver or Roger Goodell or whatever that I'm supposed
to talk to, he seems great. Oh he just pulled out,
and you know what does that mean? Um. The fortunate
part about it is early on we were able to
pull investors in who could backstop that kind of stuff
while we found out what our long term investors are
gonna be. And I mean, Tom Dundon, it's just let

(48:31):
me just say it again because it feels so good.
A quarter billion dollars the company's thirteen months old. I
was a bunch of our investors were the early guys
in Facebook, and I said, how long did it take
you to get to three employees? And they told me
and they said, how long take you? And I said
sixty four days? Uh, sixty four days. I said how
long did it take you to get to three million

(48:52):
dollars in invested capital? And they told me. Their answer
is how long to take you? And I was like, less,
divide your number by three. That's where we're at. So so,
what how can this league? And you've answered this a
million times. We see the TV ratings, they've been tremendous,
but what heck, what's different about this league? What's gonna
make this league survive? Or others? Have quality football? Quality football?

(49:15):
Actually give you a very very specific answer. General managers
look at every look at all the previous leagues. One
of the things that Bill pointed out to me earlier,
I missed it. I did the documentary aout the XFL,
I read the book about the USFL, I interviewed Mike
Tolin and everyone that was around those things at the time,
and I didn't notice they never had general managers. And
in our case, we have all NFL gms, So you

(49:35):
look at the quality of talent all the way down.
It's not a head coach who's also playing the part
of a general manager. This is a league in which
you have NFL gms and NFL head coaches that are
pulling talent together. The other thing is we're in We're
in a deep relationship at the NFL. We have a
contract in which there is specifically paperwork that says NFL out.
So a player, if he's good enough Garret Gilbert, the

(49:56):
way he's playing in the league, when someone comes calling
him next year to go play in the NFL, we say,
your go with our seven blessings. In fact, you've already
signed the document rock and Roll. That's never happened before.
We we have a symbiotic relationship with the NFL, as
evidenced by the fact we're on the NFL network, as
evidence by the fact that all thirty two teams have
scouts at all of our games. All thirty two teams
sent scouts to our preseason. We sent thirty five players

(50:17):
back to the NFL, including our number one draft pick,
Josh Johnson. So make no mistake about it. People were
like when I before we launched, people said, whatever you do,
there's a dirty word. It starts with a D. Don't
say it. And I was like, um, what, And they
said developmental. Don't say developmental. I was like, don't say it.
I'm gonna tattoo it across my forehead. What are you
talking about? Of course I want to be developmental. They
made forty billion dollars last year. You want to be

(50:40):
in the system. You want to make it work. We
can build a business that way, asked the us L,
the MLS, Triple A Baseball. These are multi multimillion dollar businesses.
And that what made that's what made und In different
for me is he really did his research. When he
walked in the door, he said, there's a way to
do this right, and you're doing it that way. Keep
doing not stop worrying about all this other nonsense like

(51:00):
fundraising Charlie Albersol joining us here on Fox Sports Radio,
the CEO and co founder of the Alliance of American Football.
On the Doug Gottlieb Show, He's Bill Plashki. I'm Dan Buyer.
You mentioned your dad and his role in forming the
XFL and saying one of the mistakes was there was
no general manager during during that league. What were some
of the things that you learned from your dad's experience

(51:22):
that didn't work for the XFL that you said, Hey, guys,
this is this is what we have to pay attention to.
You people can talk about it as closely as builded
because he lived it up close and personally with the
with the exotic women in hot tubs. He remembers, Oh,
my goodness, a storytime on this. Yes, I'll just at
the XFL. They had women, and they had women in

(51:44):
hot tubs during the games, and I was convinced in
the end zones. I was convinced they weren't real fans.
True enough, I went down and interviewed him. They were
strippers who had been hired to sit in hotel in
the end zone of games. By the way, google it.
It's one of the best articles. It is which brings
us to Robert Kraft. No, no, no, we're not going there.
We're not breaking. Thank you guys. I'll see you later.
Um you know what it is. I'll tell you honestly, Um.

(52:07):
Quality is the greatest marketer. We spent no money on
marketing with the Alliance of American Football. CBS promoted us
during NFL games, which got us some attention, but we
spent no money on marketing. The XFL spent so much
money on marketing that they did test before the first game.
That's the true story. They did audience testing and a
majority of respondents said that defensive players would be allowed

(52:28):
to bring folding chairs onto the field to hit the
offensive players with them as part of game plan. So yeah,
marketing was great. Awareness is great. Fifty four million people
tuned in opening weekend, and then nobody tuned in afterwards.
At the end of the day, you have to be
able to convince agents to convince their clients the players
that they're going into a system that a is gonna
have quality football and be they're gonna have a path
back to the NFL. And we have done that that

(52:50):
was not done before. And and also you can't open
up by saying we're the no fun league and the NFL,
I mean, the NFL is no fun league and where
the well all that stuff. The documentary was fun and
it's funny, and it was as much about a beautiful
relationship between my dad and Vince that you know, spanned
forty years. But the big takeaway was, um, you don't
have to genuinelect to the NFL, but you do have

(53:11):
to be in a situation where you are symbiotic, where
that ecosystem of football is improved by your existence not
hurt you know what. I also think really works for
you guys. And I'll just say when I saw you
on the NFL network, that was a game changer for me.
It was because because when you see it, it's like,
oh my god, this is the NFL is behind this,
this is not and right there also, the only people
in the field who don't wear the helmets the coaches,

(53:32):
and your coaches are our stars. All of them were
stars and when you see them, I mean, was that
part was that part of the plan or was that
there were two things that had to happen with the
head coaches. One they had to all have NFL experience.
That was a requirement you cannot tell a player you're
gonna get them back to the NFL and then have
some guy that coach d one football, who doesn't know
how ton NFL locker room works, who doesn't know how

(53:53):
to prepare a player for offensive NFL offenses and NFL
defensive schemes, etcetera. The other side was, we knew they
were going to be the only credibility factor we had
coming out of the gate. So when you asked me,
Steve Spurrier said the thing about the investors, And was
he seventy right or eighty percent right or whatever. I
don't care. I want Steve Spurrier on a microphone on
camera talking about the Alliance of American Football, regardless how

(54:15):
he does it. The great moment from opening weekend was
him radioing into the player and saying, Hey, run the
same play, but this time, tell him to catch it.
That's you know, you kill for that kind of thing.
And at the end of the day, if if if
I learned anything from by the way Jerry Jones and
Vince mcmanhn and these other people, is don't try to
tell people what they have to be. Let them be
who they actually are. Honesty sells and Steve and Mike's

(54:37):
Mike Singletary. Um, he's been incredible, Mike Martz. I couldn't
take mysw I just watched him because I love watching
on the sidelines, and he's got such credibility and it's like,
oh my god, I love New Hustle. By the way,
had I won't get into it, but he Spurrier had
good quotes about what happened Rick new Huts were. He
called me afterwards and I was like, I I appreciate

(55:01):
your support. I'll tell you something unique about the Arizona
hot Shots. But we're gonna have to wait a little bit. Okay,
can you hang around for another Yeah. He's Bill Plashki.
I'm Dan Buyer, joined by CEO and co founder of
the Alliance of American Football, Charlie eber Saul. I'm gonna
tell you, and I'm gonna ask Charlie himself what makes

(55:21):
the Alliance different from the National Football League Because I
have a I have a sense and there's something that
I really really like about it. We'll tell you about
it next. He's Bill Plashki. I'm Dan Buyer. This is
the Doug Gotlip Show on Fox. Be sure to catch
live editions of The Doug got Leap Show week days
at noon eastern three pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio

(55:43):

we've covered it. Talk to farmers. We know a thing
or two because we've seen a thing or two. We
are farmers under written my Farmers truck fire Insurance exchanges
and affiliates products unavailable in every state. I'm Dan Buyer,
joined by Bill. Ask you this afternoon. Glad to have
you with us as we are in for Doug being
joined in studio by the CEO and co founder of

(56:06):
the Alliance of American Football, Charlie ever saul I teased
on this a bit earlier, but the names, the nicknames
the Arizona hot Shots is arguably one of the best
names in sports. I I I say, with the minor
league teams, you always try to come up with like
a funny sort of catchphrase or something that's gonna yeah,
something that's gonna sell hats, like Arizona hot Shots sells itself.

(56:30):
How do you guys come up with names, nicknames stuff
like that? With well, we we one of the things
that is really important around the name of a team
is how it interacts with the community. And obviously the
rn L nineteen the firefighters the biggest loss of firefighters
in since nine eleven. UM was one thing that we
knew about the community that was important, But the bigger
story my father in law is a former firefighter and

(56:50):
a former police officer and first responders or something. We
talked about a lot, but you rarely see you don't
see police and firefighters represented, and the hot shots represent
the Navy Seals of the firefighters. You know, you've structural
firefighters and you've got these guys going for us. And
then the double entendre of hot shots UM was extraordinary.
And the thing was we look to the community to say,

(57:11):
is this acceptable? Is this something you want to be
a part of. We're honoring you, we want to be
a part of it. And it's been it's been remarkable.
The San Diego fleet to San Antonio commanders. One of
my favorite when it when we figured it out, was
Orlando Apollos because one, it's the Sunshine State and Apollo
is the god of the Sun, but also it's part
of the Space Coast with the Apollo Mission, so we

(57:31):
actually had an Apollo astronaut bring out the first ball
at the first game, and they've taken on this pose
when they scored touchdowns of firing Apollo's arrow, and they
call themselves the gods. See how that plays out. But
ultimately that stuff really matters, and I think it's been
it's been well received. Which school we'll speaking of a
hot shot? What about Coln Kaepernick? We heard all the
reports that he wanted twenty million dollars to play for

(57:53):
you guys, had had you ever been in contact with him?
Were are you in contact with him? Could he ever
played quarterback? I mean, how does what are you stand?
With him? Colin and I had a number of different conversations.
We sat down a bunch of times. We had long conversations.
I respect Colin is not only as a player, but
as somebody that Look, if you agree with him or
you don't agree with him, you can't question his conviction.
I mean, he he was willing to risk everything for

(58:16):
for his belief and and I look what I said
to him, which is what I've said to everyone, uh
is we are a league of opportunity. We are a
league to get you back to the NFL. If you
want and or need a path back to the NFL.
We're the right place to play. And if you want
to play with an our system, we play all the
We pay all the players the same amount of money.
We give a bonus in structure which you sell a
lot of jerseys, you make a lot of money in

(58:36):
our league. Like that's how we That's how we built
it out. But this is really meant for everybody to
be playing into the same system, and we we gave
that opportunity, and each player has to make that decision
for themselves. For Trent Richardson, he saw this as a
way to re re reposition his story and show who
he was. And for other players, you know, they wanted
to go a different route, and I respect them either way.

(58:56):
One of the things we've tried to be as a
league four players um, and I think we've begun to
succeed that. Troy Palummel has done a phenomenal job running
our players relations group and building out, you know, the
most advanced healthcare in the history of professional sports and
all the other sides of it. So do you actively
seek out players do they come to you? What's both?
I mean, look, it's we're scouting and men, make no
mistake about it. Um Russ Gilio and Joey Roberts Um

(59:20):
and then Tony Softly and Bill ku Herrick. They've done
an extraordinary job. Look, we signed over seven players to
contracts and that came down to four hundred and fifteen.
But to have almost eight hundred players in our contracts
unheard of. And the fact that of our players had
played in or signed an NFL contract is extraordinary. Although
I still think the most impressive number is seventy eight

(59:41):
percent of all of our players graduated four years of college. Well,
all right, so what about so the the TV rains
have been in spectacular They even beat the Houston. Okay,
see the first weekend in NBA, which is amazing to me.
What about the intendance? We see pictures in ment in
in Arizona, I think in Memphis and Birmingham. Um, the
tennis has not has been inconsistent, spotty? What how does

(01:00:04):
how does that change? What happens with that? Well, I mean,
in full disclosure, attendance is a bit above where we
actually thought it was going to be coming out of
the gate. Look, we we took an organic approach to this.
We didn't spend thirty million in marketing because one the
thing I said about folding chairs, but the other thing
was I've always been a believer in under promise and
over deliver. My my investors and now including Tom Dundan,

(01:00:28):
really understood that this was a long term play. Tom
is actually a lot more patient than I am. He
really believes in if you build it organically, they will come.
If you try to shove it down their throat, they
will not, And if you give away free tickets, they
really won't. They'll they'll never become long term afficionados of
of what you're building or fans of what you're building.
So you look at San Antonio where we're we did

(01:00:48):
twenty seven thousand in the first game, we did hundred
and seventy four the second one. Or you look at
Orlando where we had twenty five or twenty six thousand
people in the stadium. Um, you look at the fact
that in Birmingham and Memphis those two games, the average
temperature was thirty eight degrees and it was raining during
both games, and the fact that it's a new league,
but at the same time, can we get better. The
list of things that I would like to improve on

(01:01:09):
is about fifteen pages long, single space and size eight fonts.
So trust me, we want to do that. Infusing a
quarter billion dollars into the business so that we can
have a long term view and be more patient around
that kind of stuff obviously makes us very happy. Did
I say quarterbillions? I mentioned Tom Dundon shifted the entire
dynamic of the business a lot of zeros. We're gonna

(01:01:32):
let you get to that fifteen page list. We appreciate
the time. Charlie eversa CEO and co founder of the
Alliance of American Football, as he said, a dynamic professional
football league, dynamic personality. Now, by the way, tune in.
We're gonna be on br Live tomorrow afternoon early than
NFL Network for Saturday and Sunday night primetime football. In

case you don't want to watch the oscars, I have
no interest. Listen. I love the Oscar hosting UM. In
the absence of a host, there is football to keep
you warm at night on Saturday Sunday night. And obviously
we're on CBSS and our primary partner in the afternoon
on Sunday. Tune in. Orlando can be gods there too.
And oh so they have the right to to do it. Charlie,
We appreciate it. Thanks, thanks good. He's Bill Plashky. I'm

(01:02:16):
Dan Bayer. This is the Doug Gottlieb Show. So what
are the inner workings of how a leak transpires in
the world of sports? Will tell you after Isaac lowood
Rod gives us the latest Dan and Bill. Today, police
in Jupiter, Florida charged New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft
with two counts of misdemeanor solicitation of prostitution. A spokesperson

(01:02:37):
for Kraft said, quote, we categorically denied that Mr Kraft
engaged in any illegal activity. Because it is a judicial matter,
we will not be commenting further unquote. The NFL said
at a statement that it is quote aware of the
ongoing law enforcement matter and will continue to monitor developments unquote. Meanwhile,

(01:02:58):
reporters have stay doubt Craft's mansion in Brookline at Massachusetts,
where they have not as of yet spotted the embattled
Patriots owner. One of Craft's neighbors, however, did speak with
NBC ten people can't be around people for me. Come on,
no word yet. Have Craft's legal team plans to use

(01:03:21):
that exact phrase in a potential future closing argument. Meanwhile,
an unidentified motorist shouted at reporters quote, Mr Craft is
a great American unquote, before speeding off elsewhere. Major League
Baseball announced that a twenty second pitch clock will be
used during spring training games and will gradually be implemented

(01:03:41):
in three phases. Golf, in the second round of the
w g C Mexico Championship, Dustin Johnson has a one
shot lead and now is actually tied with Matt Coucher
at nine under par overall, one shot ahead of Rory McElroy.
Tiger Woods just five shots off the lead at four
underpar over all. Today he's four under through thirteen. Back

(01:04:03):
to the Doug Gottlieb Show at Dan Byron Bill plash
Key sitting in for Doug today in ten seconds, But first,
a word from farmers. From a dog accidentally flooding a
living room to a dog taking a joy ride, We've
covered it, talked to farmers. We know a thing or two.
Because we've seen a thing or two. We are farmers
under written my farmers truck fire insurance exchanges and affiliates

(01:04:24):
products unavailable in every state. Dan and Bill back to you,
Thank you, very much, Isaac. This is the Doug Gottlieb Show.
Find Bill on Twitter at Bill plash Ky. I'm at
Dan Buyer on Fox. I didn't point to you that time.
Now I'm cognizant. I did do it how I was
gonna say. I pointed to Charlie ever saw a few
times and saying that he's he's magnetic personnel on point,

(01:04:45):
addressing the issues that they had, addressing the issues with
the with the money issues and not only the attendants,
the graphics that we had seen weren't good attendance to
watch TV ratings to the roof, but he addressed it.
So I'm reading between the lines on the Kaepernick stuff.
I'm here and then he remember we we discussed this
at length. I mean everyone discussed this at length last
week when when when the reports came out right before

(01:05:07):
his settlement. I'm reading it that Colin didn't really want
to play football that bad. I mean from what he said,
he said he talked with him many times, and he's
offered him away back into the league, and I guess
the money wasn't right, but this is the way back
into the NFL. I don't know. I think there are
there are a couple of things. I don't want to
get into all this again, but I'll try to make

(01:05:29):
it quick and you could respond if you want. Number one,
when he visited Seattle, and I brought this up on
this program before Pete Carroll came out and said he's
a starter in this league. And I didn't think that
Pete Carroll was saying that Colin Kaepernick wants to start
because you knew you weren't gonna take over Russell Wilson.
I think it was a money issue, and so I
think what Pete Carroll was saying at that time was
he wants starter money or he wants maybe more money

(01:05:51):
in the way that that he could do it. Now.
The reports were whatever they were, with whatever Colin Kaepernick wanted.
But I also think that Colin Kaepernick thinks that he's
still NFL starting quarterback quality and he was removed to Yeah,
it's tough, but and I don't blame him for thinking that,
and I don't And I think what's lost in all
this is people say, oh, he was just in it
for the money. He got to settlement, but he lost

(01:06:13):
his career. I mean, this guy lost his career. Yeah. Yeah,
And with the settlement reports of what we're out there.
It was it's a it's a lot of money, and
he did make some money. But yeah, now you're not
playing football anymore, playing football, so but it's it's a
it's a weird situation. But I was, I was sold
and I and I meant this. I was sold on
the alliance. When I saw him on the NFL network,

(01:06:34):
I'm like, the NFL really backs this. This is this
is like the field looks like it's TV friendly, and
I think that that's a big deal. You're not going
out there on a sand lot where turf is and
you throw a couple of lines in the middle of February.
Like the presentation, the graphics of the game of using
very they're using the same NFL boxes with how you

(01:06:55):
would use it looks like it's professional football. So it
has that look. Yeah, and I think that the you know,
I think they're they're not They're clearly not selling the stars.
They're selling the coaches. They're selling the teams or selling
the communities. I think that works. He's Bill Plashki. I'm
Dan Buyer. Yesterday, the big news in the world of
sports was Zion Williamson from What happened on Wednesday night
with the Duke freshman having a shoe blow out and

(01:07:16):
then suffering an injury. That we found out yesterday that
Williamson is going to be day to day, not likely
to play this weekend against Syracuse. But we also found
out something yesterday, and that's the NBA and the NBA
Players Association are close to coming to a deal that
would get rid of the one and done in college
basketball and Bill. This was my point all of yesterday

(01:07:39):
was so many people were attacking college sports in the
n C Double A when Zion got hurt, when the
real group that they should be attacking was the NBA
because they were the reason why Zion couldn't go from
the NBA or from high school straight to the NBA.
And I know it was said as it was a
coincidence that all of a sudden, this report am out

(01:08:00):
that the NBA is close to getting rid of the
one and done. There is no there's no coincidence. I've
been in this situation many times before where an organization
or a team feels that heat is on them. They
want to get their message out. They'll make a phone
call or you know, to be fair, the reporter calls them,
and several reporters call them, say what's going on with
this NBA on the sign of things blowing up? What

(01:08:22):
are you? What are you thinking? And they choose a
reporter who has the best circulation or the biggest following,
and they just caretually say, well, you know what, you
didn't get it from me, but this is what's going on.
This happens. This happens numerous times. It happens. Usually it
happens through a a you know, through a PR person.
Could it could happen through like an actual higher league official,

(01:08:43):
but it's always somebody trying to get the message out.
Sports controls the message throughout. I mean the NBA coaches,
you know, do their pregame interviews every day every game,
They get talking points from the PR people. You act
like it's all just oh, off the cuff, the cuff. No,
this is all very message is It's all very direct.
And I've gotten stories before weirdly ways. I once got

(01:09:04):
a story and I don't want to give gonna give
away sources. I'll carry sources to my death, but I
got a story where I've found out a huge transaction
was occurring in this organization I was covering, and I
got the story because one of the people involved was
an in law of someone else involved in the transaction.
He said, yeah, yep, I heard the in law. I

(01:09:25):
heard the in law talking last night on the phone. Okay,
it's a good enough for me, so that that happens,
and I've also it also, they could also serve to
confirm things for you. I have been in situations before
where I have been in a pre game or workout
interview with a coach talking about a player, and I'm

(01:09:46):
asking critical questions of the player because I'm gonna get
ready to criticize the player in the paper the next day.
And I'm very critical of the player. But I always
when I rip a player, I always want to know
that the clubhouse or the locker room or the sidelines
of feels as I know, because you don't want to
go out because I don't play. So I trust the
veterans and I trust the people in that locker room

(01:10:07):
to know that, Okay, you're gonna say this guy's dogging it.
You can say this guy doesn't care. I want to
know that the people around them agree with me, because
you know, because because because because otherwise I'm I could
be totally wrong, and miss God. I want to know
that they feel the same way. That's really important because
they're in there every day. Well, this is also going
to be something that would benefit the reporter that that

(01:10:28):
that that if you're gonna come out there and you're
gonna hit on something, you better darn well make sure
that it hits well. Yeah, of course, that's just part
of it. So anyway, So I've been a situation before
I've interviewed a culture or an official, and then afterward,
I've had a cultural official call me over and say
you're getting ready, are you gonna rip so and so
tomorrow's paper And I'm saying yep, and that official give

(01:10:52):
me a thumbs up and walked away, and I'm like, boom,
that's all you know. And this happened many years ago,
but this happens to everybody, is that the teams get
their message across they and they and they want to speak.
It was Jimmy Johnson was the first one to say this.
It was so brilliant saying this. When he talks to
the media, he's talking to his team. The smart coaches

(01:11:13):
will talk to their team through the media. The smart
teams will get their message out through the media, to
the players, to the fans that way. That's what was
so striking yesterday was because I don't think that the
NBA was taking as much heat as the n c
double A did on the Zion injury. So then all
of a sudden, this report comes out on Thursday, Bill,

(01:11:36):
and everybody's like, way to go NBA, not realizing that
the NBA was the whole reason that that situation had
happened to the in The NBA is famous for this.
This kind of mentioned one thing that drives me absolutely
crazy about the NBA. Their messaging is so direct and
they reach such a wide the media really salivates that.
The that the ankles of the NBA, the media loves,

(01:11:58):
everyone loves the NBA is cool. The NFL is a
bunch of old, old, reedy, rich, greedy men, you know,
who were out of touch right well, and all this
national anthem controversy. Everybody said, oh, if only the NFL
was like the NBA with the national anthem controversy. And
you know in Lebron saying, I kneel with Colin Kaepernick,
I kneel with cap. No he doesn't because the NBA,

(01:12:19):
you can't kneel during the national anthem. You have to
stand during national anthem. They have stricter rules than anybody. No, no, no,
you don't know. You don't know. You can't. Your league
won't let you. So how about the NBA gets off
scott free because of just what you said. It goes
into what you said yesterday. They're smart like this and
they get the message out and they and they you know,

(01:12:40):
they CounterPunch and they portrayed themselves as this benevolent player
friendly operation when you know, um Mohammad abdul ray roof
was was was was the spending for kneel during the
national anthem. So it's believe me, it's a it's not
a they're not the the great? Why the great? You know? Uh,
it's saviors of sports and everybody says. There was even

(01:13:02):
a response to the ESPN report this week which had
specific Tim donaghie examples of when he was fixing games,
and the NBA comes out with this response trying to
uh pinpoint spots in the exact scenarios where the report
got it wrong or omitted stuff. Because there was a

(01:13:25):
point when Tim donnahe called eleven straight fouls against the
Seattle SuperSonics in the game against the Dallas Mavericks. The
NBA's response true story. Look it up. It's in their
official response. What the report failed to say was that
Donnahye also called two fouls on the Dallas Maverick. So
that's still eleven to two. Well, here's what the NBA

(01:13:46):
does in this story. The most compelling thing about that
story for me was that they had the FBI realized
that it was more than Donnahe he realized there was
other things going on, that he wasn't acting alone, that
maybe he wasn't the They were investigating other examples of
game fixing by referees. And what happens. The New York
Post gets a story, goes with a story right that

(01:14:08):
that head the headlines, and FIA investigating Donahee and and
so suddenly all all the other rats went scurrying and
when hiding, and the FIS investigation was blown by this league,
and it was leak. The guy would never say who
was leaking. I thought it was leaked by the NBA.
So let it get out. He's Bill plaski I'm Dan Buyer.

and everywhere. But I'm now making sure that I don't
point to Bill when I say he's Bill Plashki, I
will say that is John Ramos, who's hanging out today.

(01:15:38):
Executive producer leads a lap as well. If you missed
study of the Charlie Evers so I'll interview, you can
always go to Fox Sports Radio dot com and here it.
You can subscribe on iTunes to the Doug Gottlieb Show.
A lot of different ways that you could always hear
the Doug Gotleap Show on the I Heart Radio app.
We'll play a little bit back because he addressed a
question that you had about Colin Kaepernick. Will do that

(01:15:58):
in about fifteen minutes or so. And Kaepernick's place in
the alliance or lack thereof, if you will lack thereof
is term there. Yeah, that is the current situation and
probably the probably at this time of the show. Even
though Doug's not here, we like to do what Doug does,
take something interesting from Fox Sports Radio or Fox Sports
One or even both and play it back to you

(01:16:21):
in a segment we like to call now. So even
though Doug wasn't here today, it was because he was
on the herd. He was in for Colin Cowhard today
on Fox Sports Radio and Fox Sports One and had
this to say about the future of the Lakers. Before
I should even hop on the bandwagon and say forget
eight seed, seven seed, six seed, here they come, because

(01:16:44):
they're all within reach. We did see a comeback against
the Celtics, and then a terrible performance against the Sixers,
and even worse performance against the Lowlyhawks. So they got
the next three games are Pelicans Grizzlies, Pelicans to two teams,
three games that the opponents are trying to lose games
they want to lose games. The Pelicans that come out
and said, not only are you not playing Anthony Davis

(01:17:05):
in the fourth quarter, but we're gonna play our younger guys,
not Drew Holiday in the fourth quarter. So we all
know if the Lakers are really back based upon how
they do their next three games. They squeep ball three.
They have four game winning streak, Like, all right, they're
back and nothing is out of the question seed wise,
Is that really the true test? These next three? No,
these next three will be in mirage. They'll they'll stroll

(01:17:28):
through these. The schedule gets a lot tougher. We talked
about earlier on the show. Their last five games includes
Golden State in Portland's in Utah, and Oklahoma City. In
their last five games this season, it's existence going down
to the last week for them. I just think Sacramento
is playing very well. He saw a Golden States said
about Sacramento yesterday, the Warriors love the way the King's playing,

(01:17:50):
and and and and they've they've barely beat him four
times this year. Um, I don't think. I think yesterday
was great. Now chronicled it in the only times, and
Lebron carried him. But he's thirty four and he hasn't
shown an ability to to carry they on a consistent
basis this year. I think the jury is still out.
I think if they get in, there'll be an eighth seed.
I don't see him getting above the eighth seed. Yeah,

(01:18:13):
and now if if you do get a seventh seed,
I think everything changes. Everything changes. I think they got
a shot to get to the conference finals. I don't
think there's any team in there outside of Golden State
that Lebron couldn't figure out a way. I think if
he can get him to the seventh seed, he can
figure out a way to win four games in the
seven game series against these guys until he gets to
Golden State. Russell Westbrook carried Oklahoma City to a seventh seed,

(01:18:34):
I believe a couple of years ago, the year after
Kevin Durant left. So I look at the west and
I know it's not the same because it's not the
same season. But the fact is, if we're gonna claim
that Lebron James is one of the greatest basketball players
of all time, and some who feel that he is
the goat, then you should at least be able to
carry your team to the postseason seven or eight spot,
depending whatever the case may be. Here's my issue, Bill is,

(01:18:56):
I still don't know what is the outlier and what's real.
And last night we heard about Lebron activated, Well, he
was activated and come back from a nineteen point deficit
in the second half. Was the Atlanta Hawks loss just
I want to get away for All Star weekend? Was
the Celtics win just a lucky break? Or was it hey,
we went to Boston to get a win on the road,
the forty two point lost to the Indiana Pacer. That's

(01:19:17):
what I'm still trying to figure out last night, Now
tells us Okay, maybe they're back on the right road.
But these next three games, I don't think that they're
gonna tell us anything. It's gonna be the game against
Milwaukee in a week, or the game and then mid
March against Sacramento. They have Boston every weeks. Yeah, I
just think last night was really cool and I think
it showed everybody what a key can be. But we've

(01:19:41):
already seen this year that what he was, he's not
on a consistent basis anymore. Remember he's missed more time
with injuries issue than every other time in his career.
He's missed eighteen straight games with a groin and then
there were two and four after he came back, and
last night he pulled Hi Stuff out of the game
the second quarter. So I think you're right. I think
the I think caution is a word here. I said
my column. It's a great night, but it's one night.

(01:20:01):
They need twenty four more like it. I'm trying to
figure out what Laker team it is. I do think
they get into the playoffs, just for what we've talked
about earlier with the Clippers not wanting to watch the
last night, I think they do too. Yeah, these Sacramento
is the only issue. But then I'll bring up this
point because you brought it up with the game last
night that buddy healed at it, look at a possible

(01:20:23):
game winning shot, took the possible game tying shot and
missed it. Do you think the Warriors were to fa
rather face the Kings or the Lakers all the Warriors would.
I think the Warriors would much rather face at Kings. Yeah. Yeah,
Lebron is gonna inject a whole bunch of drama. You
don't need that kind of drama in your first round.
If you're trying to win four rounds to get the championship,

(01:20:44):
you want a little bit of a ease and a
little bit of a first round in the shadows. You
don't need all that coming down on you right away.
And bet online head odds this week of the finals matchup,
and the top six odds all had Golden State in
the finals. So the odds said that a Brooklyn That's
Warriors NBA final more likely to happen than a Celtics

(01:21:07):
Rockets final. And that to me, in switching the conversation
to the Warriors is amazing because you could have the
Warriors have a playoff run of Lakers, Rockets, and thunder
like you go through that and they may not be
what they are, But to go to an NBA finals,
to go through that gauntlet, I guess, but they're they're
so good, they're they're gonna I mean, who we can

(01:21:28):
It's gonna win again, right, And that's a that's a
problem with the NBA. We already know who's gonna win.
There's no there's no question. I no matter what happened
last night, I still like Houston. You cannot like Houston. Also,
they shoot themselves out of games. They don't have the
temperament for it. How many times you have to see
this what you saw last night? How many times you
have to see that. We've seen that every postseason. We've

(01:21:50):
seen that at everything. I love Kenneth for Reid. Heck,
you give Chris Paul a month off during the season.
Still there, Yeah, I'm not ready to give it to
the Warriors. On my god, it's not even gonna be
closed now, it's not. I can't believe you you still
on the Houston after seeing what they did last night,
how they can disintegrate faster than anything and shoot them
way out of the game faster than anything. Because they

(01:22:11):
keep shooting. They don't protect the ball. It's all ice.
A ball doesn't work in the long run. Stranger things
have happened, like at a massage parlor in Jupiter. He's
built Plasky. I'm Dad Buyer. We talked about it next
year on Fox. Fox Sports Radio has the best sports
talk lineup in the nation. Catch all of our shows

(01:22:31):
at Fox sports Radio dot com and within the I
Heart Radio app search f s R to listen live
a the big news of the day. Patriots owner Robert
Kraft in some hot hot water. He's in such hot water.
The President of the United States has commented on it.
Did you see that? Anyway? You can explain everyone about

(01:22:51):
the I'm so afraid I'm gonna say something wrong here. No,
don't worry about it. We've got we've got safety nets
in order of that. So so so anyway, so so
basically in a in a story that everyone I'm sure
listening has already heard by now, Robert Kraft was was
busted in a sting in a massage parlor sting in Jupiter, Florida,

(01:23:14):
charged with two counts of I don't know what what
the what. The allegations soliciting prostitutions and prostitution and the
and and the name what was it called the Daisy
Asia Orkids of Asia Massage Parlor in Jupiter, Florida, and
he was it was. It's an unbelievable story because it

(01:23:34):
touches so many areas. It touches patriot hate. Okay, good,
I'm glad you got to that point. Touches patriot hate,
which is so many Americans institutions, patriot hate, massage parlors,
billionaires trying to get some for cheap, guys pulling up
to a stings and police things. And the mystery names

(01:23:55):
because Adam Schefter of VSPN says Robert Craft's name not
even the biggest on the list. We'll dive more into
that in just a little bit. Do want to reset
what we had earlier on the show, a great conversation
with the co founder and CEO of the Alliance of
American Football, Charlie Ebersoul joined us and just on Twitter
a little while ago, Eric Reid posted a picture the

(01:24:16):
Carolina Panthers safety, who of course was part of the
Colin Kaepernick settlement with the National Football League. Read posted
a picture of him sitting next to Colin Kaepernick saying,
ps I have his number if y'all need it. End quote.
And there is a football in the picture, will you?
Bill Plashky asked Charlie Ebersoul earlier about the talk about

(01:24:37):
Colin Kaepernick possibly joining the Alliance of American Football. Colin
and I had a number of different conversations. We sat
down a bunch of times. We had long conversations. I
respect Colin as not only as a player, but as
somebody that Look, if you agree with him or you
don't agree with him, you can't question his conviction. I mean,
he he was willing to risk everything for for his
belief and and I look what I said to him,

(01:24:58):
which is what I've said to everyone, uh is we
are a league of opportunity. We are league to get
you back to the NFL. If you want and or
need a path back to the NFL, we're the right
place to play. And if you want to play with
an our system, we play all the We pay all
the players the same amount of money. We give a
bonusing structure which you sell a lot of jerseys, you
make a lot of money in our league. Like that's
how we that's how we built it. Out. But this

(01:25:19):
is really meant for everybody to be playing into the
same system, and we we gave that opportunity and each
player has to make that decision for themselves. So clearly
Colin Kaepernick had an opportunity to play for the Alliance
of American Football. It seemed reading between the lines that
he may have been asking for too much money, which
which was was the reports. Yeah. Uh, from what Charlie said,

(01:25:43):
he could make a lot of money selling jerseys, and
you know he made it. He would made a ton
selling jerseys. Well this then, this is this is part
of the issue is Eric Reed's tweeting out a picture
of I have his number if y'all need it. Well,
Charlie's got his number. Two. They talked, he didn't want it,
and that's where where there's there there is a blurred line.
It's not as black and white as this picture would show.

(01:26:06):
It's not. It's not as cut and dry as that
of Colin Kaepernick needs work and nobody's calling him. I mean,
at some point you have to say, Okay, I'm sure
he was telling himself, I'm an NFL starting quarterback, but
in the Super Bowl, I'm not gonna go to some
developmental league. Why should I have to because I'm being
black balled. But now he's since been compensated for being

(01:26:26):
black balled, So you would think that if he wants
to keep playing at least to get in shape, now
can he Now, can he still play in the NFL?
That's a question. Well, that's that That has been my point.
Yes he can. And number two, wait, do we know
what's part of the settlement. We don't know what to settle.
That's that's that's true. That's that's fair enough that I'm
not sure what if they said, what if they said,
will pay this money, you can never play for us again,

(01:26:48):
then that would be a part of the settlement that
we don't know. Yeah, but but if if they tweeted
out this picture, which is a very compelling, tweet appelling picture,
it would indicate that yes, he can still play again.
And and this is this is the issue, is if
the owners end up making a settlement with Colin Kaepernick
and Eric Reid, if Colin Kaepernick plays in the NFL,

(01:27:10):
then it's pent proof that there was some collusion, because
why in the world when an NFL owner now say,
you know what we want the guy two years after
he was removed from football. No, yeah, there's there was
clearly collusion. But let's go back to the point we're
talking about. With the Alliance. You would think that, Okay,
he can play and get in shape, he can play
a few games this year, get in shape and get

(01:27:32):
back into camps in the in the in the in
the summer. No, or you think that's beneath him. No,
I think that's beneath him. Is I don't think that
he wants to play in the Alliance. I think that
he feels that his spot is in the National Football League,
and I feel that his spot is in the National
Football League being paid as someone who listen. His worth now,

(01:27:54):
if you were in the National Football League was sure
as heck, more than what it was before he left.
Before he didn't join a team. Now, if you bring
in Colin Kaepernick, how many eyes are going to be
on your team? I mean he is going to bring
in If you would play the Alliance, what would those
TV ratings be? There? Would skyrocket? His value is obviously increased.

(01:28:14):
So he's not gonna go back in there unless unless
it's worth this money, because he would bring tons of
eyeballs good and bad to whatever league he wants. But
he hasn't played in two years, so that's a factor too.
I don't think do you think it matters if he's
good or not, Like I think of just him maybe
long term, but I think now that he is well,
he wants to go in now he wants to He
doesn't want to sit the bench. I mean, he wants

(01:28:36):
he wants the money for the fourth starter. I mean,
I know, I don't know, I don't know how this
all works out, but I just think I just think
so you think it would be a bad move for
him to go to the Alliance. I think that for
the money that he wants, it's a bad move. I
don't think for his playing career. But the point that
I say is, I think Colin Kaepernick thinks he's a
twenty million dollar player, not even for a level bill

(01:29:01):
for just just for public, yes, just for what he
could bring to the league. You talk about the amount
of jersey sales, Nikes, what's selling a jersey is not
even on a team, But you think there's But these
teams that have avoided him because of the distractions, are
cutaly gonna want to take him now? Not in in
the National Football league, I would say no. And that's
where this is. If you if you didn't want Colin

(01:29:21):
Kaepernick two years ago, I don't know why you would
want him now to play like there's so you're saying
the Alliance should give him the money and sign him.
They would spend twenty million dollars on him. I think
it would be an investment that would bring a lot
of eyes and a lot of money to that league.
So this is a league that just got bailed out,
so to speak. Let's let's twenty million of two hundred

(01:29:44):
and fifty million, that's about what ten percent little less,
because you don't wanna call a bail at it was
part of their funding, but they just got funded. Dollars
that would go to Colin Kaepernick, but you would there
would be sure there would be boycott's, But I think
of the eyes of what you would get to see
how he played would be quite I don't think he
ever plays again. I just don't if you don't want

(01:30:04):
to play in the Alliance. And I don't think that
the NFL is going to especially after after they all
after they all chipped in to pay for their collusion,
They're not gonna no, no, And and and again to
the point is it proves everything? It proves Yeah, yeah,
we didn't want him in. Why would you want a
guy who hasn't played football in two years more than

(01:30:28):
before that point. That's the point that it just doesn't
make any sense with everything that that went with it.
So I hope he's got such a great you know,
the case is done, but the cause is still there.
I hope he uses his platform for good now, you know,
continues to use it, continues to try and make an
impact for social justice. I think he has a great
place for that. I don't see him playing football again.
If you're not gonna play any any alliance, he's not
gonna play. The messaging of Colin Kaepernick has been an issue.

(01:30:52):
I'm not denying the good that he has done. The
messaging has always been an issue because you don't hear
from him. This is another example of a tweet where
the messaging is confusing because Eric Greed is tweeting PS
call him the same time that abs are all saying
I called him, he did, he did, and that where
did that go? That's the point we're making. He's Bill Plashky,

(01:31:15):
I'm Dan Bayer. This is the Doug Gottlieb Show on
Fox Sports Radio. Did you know that tax Layer has
been in the industry for over fifty years in the
R rated number one of the text prep software category
on trust Pilot. That's two big reasons why you should
be using tax Layer. Slayer taxes this year, maximize your
refund at tax layer dot com. Another big story today
is Robert Kraft busted. The big story today charges of

(01:31:36):
prostitutes solictening a prostitute in Jupiter, Florida. Now what happens
to Bob Kraft? You said it's got patriot hate, it's
got sex, it's got mystery. Now it's got Donald Trump. Yeah,
it's called the episode quote very sad, and it's very sad.
Quote it's very sad. I was very surprised to see it.

(01:31:56):
He's proclaimed his innocence totally. But I'm very surprised to
see it. You're surprised to see this, you're surprised. Imagine
the videos when you see that, because that's what I
don't want to see. If I don't want to see
the videos, dude, what would you? Okay, let's let me
if they said they had which the police claimed they
have videos. No, no, I don't. I don't. I don't

(01:32:17):
want to see if that came on your Twitter feed?
Would you look it up? You did? You? Yes, yes
you would. I wouldn't built. No, I am not bob
Craft video anymore in Google. That is not going to happen.
I am not going to do that. The point is
is they've got bob Craft apparently on video a couple
of times, because they said there were two separate occasions

(01:32:38):
somewhere between the time frame of January twenty. It was
January eighteenth. In January, I believe the in that time
frame of of when bob Craft apparently went to the
Orchids of Asia, he went twice in a week. I guess, yeah,
that's okay, twice yea Isaac said it was two days

(01:33:00):
before the a f C Championship game and then two
days after the a f C Championship game. So a
little pre gaming and a little postgame celebration. That's That's
a way to celebrate an a f C championship. I'll
tell you that much. The NFL is gonna come down
on him. He'll have some sort of punishment, but it's
it's you know, Jerry Richardson lost his team because of
workplace harassment. There's no parallels to know, there's no Jim Ers.

(01:33:23):
One is when he was busted for d U y
five years ago and had we had ro we had
Rod Woodson on the show earlier and he speaking, I'm
sure for all the players were like, hey, wait a minute. Now,
if a player does this, he's in trouble. You gotta
get trapped. Crafts has gotta get penalized at some point,
and he and he will. But but the most the
biggest thing is is after you said earlier, just with
just when the nation was starting to tolerate the patriots,

(01:33:47):
except the patriots give them their due for their greatness.
Just when you're willing to overlook his his lips, the
lips kiss of Tom Brady, just wring over tolook, his
rapping in his chain wearing, in his act. You know
he's acting. He's acting much younger than his se seven
years old. His party, Yes, his air fourth ones, that's

(01:34:07):
all gone to hell. Now everybody's like, yeah, same old patriots,
same old cheaters. And what are some of the gated
gate And now there he is. There's hailgate, there's tailgate
and Forna gates. The battling for the super Bowl of
titles for the Robert Kraft Scandal. I think that those

(01:34:28):
are the top two that we've got. I actually, I
know you said go ahead and say it. No, I
thought tug rule was very funny, but you wanted a
gate like you stuck to your gun. You have to,
and I think I think I's proven to be a
worthy call of sticking to that. That is that is
good tailgate or yeah, yeah, that's gonna be your super

(01:34:49):
Bowl for Super Bowl taglines for the Robert Kraft Scandal,
will have to pick a winner at the end of
the show. How about that? I will I will check
with but yes, it's it's and again this this has
this is huge, huge news because he is the owner
and the creator of the greatest sports dynasty of our era,
and he's lorded, lorded over everyone and claimed he hasn't

(01:35:10):
cheated and lorded it over Roger Goodill when he when
he when he when he you know, when he won
a Super Bowl and with a deflate gate and just
just strutted around. And now there's nothing what people like
better than to see something like this fall from a pedestal.
And just as we were willing to accept him on
that pedestal. He's taking a deep dive. If I was

(01:35:31):
in a newspaper headline and couldn't use gate to the
other one, how about this one, Bill, Let's see you're
in the newspaper guy, Craft Spirals. Yes, the macaroni and
cheese my favorite. That's that's the way. It's a leap.
That's a about three las. Nobody thinks of Kraft like that,
No they do. It's the only mac and cheese that

(01:35:52):
I eat. Craft Spirals are the back. There's a better
chance of having tug rule in there than there is.
Just say that makes you laugh. But now I don't
want to say that we're trivializing that this. We're talking
about human sex trafficking. This is not funny. I mean,
we're not laughing about that. We're not laughing about the
crime that was allegedly committed. We're not because it's a
crime against human being. I mean, these poor women are

(01:36:14):
shuttle from massage. Part of massage part, they have to
live there. They're giving you know, they're giving no money.
It's that's why the cops aren't just doing this for
for kicking. They're doing this because real people are really affected.
They're apparently brought in for jobs that they weren't just
a normal nine to five or working jobs, and then
they get put into this. This is a serious crime.
It's just the fact that who who it was allegedly

(01:36:37):
committed by, and why and how in the age that
all plays into what maybe makes it a little bit
larger situation than what it really is. He's built playing
forget that. I'm Dan Buyer. This is the Dug Gottlieb Show.

to Farmers. We know a thing or two, because we've
seen a thing or two. We are farmers under written
my farmers stock fire insurance exchanges and affiliates products unavailable
in every state. I'm Dan Buyer. He's Bill Plashky. Glad
to have you with us on this Friday, joining us
now to talk about what we've got down the road
for the NBA season. You're actually gonna hear him tomorrow

(01:37:47):
with Anthony Gargano here on Fox Sports Radio on the
Fellas starting at six o'clock Eastern time. Former NBA GM
and now he's a member of us, Yes the media.
Billy King joins us here on Fox Sports Radio. Hey Billy,
thanks so much for coming on. Glad to be here, guys,
Glad to be here. Let's let's put on your GM hat.
Even though now you're transitioning over to the bad guys

(01:38:07):
in the media's. Bill would like to say, no, I'm
putting words in his mouth, but you're totally pretty about
what he's talking about. Where did that come from? I
just just you know, I'm just trying to pass the blame.
If you're if you're the general manager of the New
Orleans Pelicans, how in the world do you handle this
Anthony Davis situation the rest of the season, because now
there's a report he's gonna be unlimited minutes. If you

(01:38:30):
were Danny Ferry right now, who's acting as the GM
of the Pelicans, how would you hand the a d well,
I would have a sit down meeting with him and says, look,
we know your intentions, but we want you to be professional.
You're trying to protect your brand and I'm trying to
protect the brand of New Orleans so and doing so.
Let's protect both brands together and so be professional. If

(01:38:50):
there's nights you feel you can't play, you need to sit,
but we are going to play some young guys because
you want to find out what they can do to
Your minutes may be restricted, but as we go through
this journey, let's be his first class professional about it, uh,
and not be a distraction as much and be a
leader of this team because whatever you do these last
two months of two half months of season, it is
gonna go with you for the rest of your career.

(01:39:13):
So you don't want to do something that can damage
your brand going forward. Well, now, did anything of the
Anthony Davis saga anger you at all? When he came
when his agent came out and said he wanted to leave.
It seemed like it seemed I could tour apart three teams,
you know, at least at least briefly. I mean, does
that did any what about that or did any of
that bother you? What part of what part of that
bothered you the most? Well, it bothered me in the

(01:39:35):
sense it is public. Um. You know, I've had players
come in request its trade and do it privately, and
then we make the trade and you know, move on
and nobody really knows that there was a request. So
to me is if if that's the intention that you have,
you just come in and say I want to be traded,
and we said, okay, we're gonna do this. We're gonna
keep it internal and nobody got to know. You go
out and play hard and we'll do our best to

(01:39:56):
try to accommodate you, but also take care of the
organization as well. Billy Keaton joining us here on the
Doug Otlip Show on Fox Sports Radio. He's built Plashki.
I'm dan buyer in for DUC today. On average per year,
would you are the GM of the Sixers than that?
How many trade requests did you get? You didn't get
it that often, you know, you'd be amazed. Actually, though,

(01:40:17):
a lot of the guys that don't play, their age
is a call can you trade them? Because those guys
there are the ones that really don't um. You know,
they're they're trying to get to a better situation because
their contract is coming up. So that's the difficult It's
usually those guys are in twelve spot or the tent spot,
or you know, the star players used I have a
gauge if they want out or if you want to
trade them, But it's usually the guys that aren't playing much,

(01:40:39):
and they'll just say, can you put them in a
better situation? So, and that's why a lot of times
you see guys get traded or get bought out at
the end of the season. I mean before the trade,
after the trade, did lie billion, I ask you put
on your talent evaluator CAP. Now, Zion Williamson, should he
should he keep playing? Should he shut it down? Will
that affect his draft stock? I mean, what what advice

(01:41:00):
would you give? And perhaps you have given him already
the young man. Well, the one thing I look at it,
and you're asking a former dukie. I wanted to play.
But yeah, I think, you know, he's got to do
what is better for him and his family. And the
great thing about him, he's got a great advisor and
coach k who's seen it all. And and I think

(01:41:22):
I heard what he said. You know, he wants to play,
that's why he's there to do so, Um, you know,
it's a tough cause. I think I heard j Billill
say it's you know, it's he loves playing the game,
but it's a business decision. Um, I think you you
play basketball. I think when you start worrying about get injury,
that's when injuries cur. So I think you just play
basketball and and you play the game. I mean, you

(01:41:43):
can get insurance out there to cover you, but I
think if you're healthy enough to play, that's what you're
you know, you're out there to play play basketball. So
I don't like the fact that in football teams that
aren't in the playoffs, big bowl games, the quarterback says, well,
I'm not gonna play. Why can you leave your teammates
high and after you sacrifice and sweat all year with him,
and just because you're not in the playoff game. I

(01:42:05):
know it's your career, but it's like you know then
you should have never played from the beginning of the season.
Do you think Zion is the number one pick? And
what he remained the number one pick if he played
or didn't play? Is he already the number one pick?
Where do you see him falling in the draft? DA's
number one. I don't think anything can change it. I mean,
I look at Kyrie Irving, who played what eight games
to duke in the being number one. Keean Martin broken

(01:42:25):
his leg, he end up being in I think he
Zihion has proved to everybody right now that he definitely
done one pick in the draft. And I don't think
anything he does the rest of this year or doesn't play, Dude,
you know it's not going to affect that. If he
comes back and play, doesn't play through the level, I
don't think it'll affect it. Billy King joining us here
on Fox Sports regularly here him tomorrow with anything, or
Gargano here on Fox Sports right now to say this.

(01:42:46):
It's it's interesting we all, Billy, we always talk those
of us who don't play, talk about what you just said,
but here and you say it here in Billy King
say it it like means it means something. It's like, wow,
I know you know what I'm saying. It's it's like,
we all he should play. He shouldn't play. He's gonna
hurt his draft pick. And here's a here's a veteran
saying no, no, no, no, no, go ahead and play

(01:43:07):
your number one anyway. That's pretty cool. Yeah, I think
he's gonna be number one. And and I think he's
just got to get the point. He's healthy and because
he's not going to affect his draft talk, he's proved
it right now. Is Zion the only one in this
draft coming up that could have transitioned to the NBA
and had an impact? The report yesterday after the Zion
in during comes out that the one and Done is

(01:43:28):
likely on its way out. But how many guys, realistically
in this freshman class and college basketball would have made
an impact in the NBA this year. You know that's
gonna because it depends on what team they're drafted. If
they were going to go to a team that's you know,
in the bottom and they're gonna get a lot of minutes,
like I think r J Barrett if he was in
that situation, I think his skill set would allow him
to do that. Um Zion obviously he would have done that,

(01:43:52):
But a lot of guys that it really depends on
where they're what team they're going to when they're drafted.
But I think r J skill set would have been
able to do that. But you're write a lot of guys.
As you see now, when guys get drafted, it takes
him a while. You know, Ben Simmons came in, but
he sat out of year and practiced, so so it's
almost almost Rich Shurter than NBA. Same thing would n BEI, Um,

(01:44:15):
I don't care how skilled the guy is, it's just
a different level when they come to the NBA. It's
it's not just the fact of your physical ability or
athletic your skill set, it's the mental grind of playing
and traveling and budgeting your time and sleep because it's
all new to them, and and they're guys out to
get you because you come in with the name. Um.
You know Lonzo ball Dad didn't do it any favors

(01:44:37):
because everybody he had a label on his back and
that was a fair to the kid. Do you agree
with the age change or do you not that the
proposed age change from Yeah, I I think they should change,
you know, from the fact I've been a big believer.
Let him come out on high school. But once you
go to college, you stay three years. And that way

(01:44:59):
it's like based ball. That way, the guys are going
to go go play in the pros. If you're going
to go to college, you're gonna stay for three years.
And I think it helped the college game. And I
think you know, the guy that think they can make
the inbig go do it, or go play in the
G league. But then you go to college, prepare yourself
because most of these kids aren't gonna make it. Are
they going to fail? They're gonna get a three year
contract for it, and they're gonna be out of the league.
They got in something to fall back on. John Thompson

(01:45:21):
had a deflated basketball at desk, and I remember when
sister coaches told hibout was the eighth grade. The basketball
is deflated because one day the ball is gonna stop bouncing,
And what are you gonna do with your life? So
use basketball and let basketball use you. Billy King joining
us here. Final one for me is Bill Plaski and myself,
Dan buy Our in for Doug gottliep Here on Fox
Sports Radio. What do you do to solve the tanking

(01:45:42):
issue in the NBA with these teams that are completely
out of it, that are looking to uh get a
bit of draft pick. How would you Billy King correct
what's going on in the NBA. Well, I just don't
believe in just not trying to win, because I think
as much as winning is a bit, I think losing
it's a bittual um. Philadelphia was fortunate because a lot

(01:46:03):
of the guys they lost with aren't part of this team.
But they got lucky also because then Beach felt him
because of injury, and then Ben Simmons. But they went
through a lot of drafts. Orlando traded Dwight Howard and
I don't know they were tanking whatever, but they have
not got it back there. So when you take that route,
it's a risky move and and and there's no guarantee

(01:46:23):
you're gonna get the zion or the right players. So
I think you always got to preach winning and teach
how the guys how to win and play hard. And
at the end of the game, if you don't win
games or you know, you find out where your draft
pick is. But I just think when you just decide
that you just gonna lose games and not put a
product out there that people are paying for. You developed
that culture of losing, and it's hard to change. And

(01:46:44):
once guy is getting habit to lose it because now
you've got to go ask him. Now, we really want
to win. Oh but two years ago you weren't. You know,
you didn't ask about the win. So now there's habits
of form. So I'm just a big believer. If you
the keeping score, you play to win. Okay. So I'm
sorry that no, No, I just I just I just
think it's and I don't know if the lead the

(01:47:04):
league can't do anything about it because owners ultimately signed
off on it, and gms take the message from the
owners and you have to make pitch set today owners.
But ultimately every owner is responsible for what their GM
does because they are they're signing off on it. So
until the ownership decide, hey, we don't want to do this,
then it's not gonna I don't know if there's nothing
a rule that they can do to change it. Um,

(01:47:26):
it's you know, and when you have thirty teams, it's
three of them decide that we're gonna tank. There's nothing that, Adam,
they can change the draft all they want, it's not
going to change. So what about last thing? What about
eliminating the draft? What about having having the salary cap
in place so and having you all recruit players like
you do in college, just having recruit players sign players.
But you gotta see under the salary cap is what's

(01:47:49):
tell me why that idea is so dumb? Well, I
think that the smaller market's going to be limited because
then you know, and even if you guys are you're
gonna have a hard cap or be able with your
cap space because you know then and then how long
are there deal is gonna because you know, well the
teams have to sign a two year deal, three year

(01:48:09):
deal because players I'll take a one year deal and
I'll wait to go next year. Um. I think the
draft you have to have that because you know, it's
a natural order. I think if you just put it
and where all of our free agents, which I do
think the Union would love to have that, I think
then it really would hurt the smaller market teams because
you have guys like I'll go play for Golden State

(01:48:30):
for the minimum and then I'll be afraid the next
year you know, because I'll just take the minimum Golden
States and then favor examples this year and Zion and
r J and them said, you know, you know, say
the four or five best players say, look, we're gonna
go here, we'll take you know, we'll take less money,
and when they will be freezing against next year and

(01:48:50):
go to that teams have space. Interesting there, that makes sense.
I think I have a solution, but I'm gonna save it, Billy.
I won't waste your time hearing my whack and do
it all as supposed to me giving my wife. Okay,
actually I can say it's all right, Billy, this is
gonna be. I gotta get used as I get to
a commercial break, you gotta I gotta get ready for tomorrow. Yeah, yeah, right,

(01:49:13):
you know what this I'll tell you what. This news
that I'm gonna lay on you is so good. We're
actually pushing everything back so I can tell you read it.
It should go back to where every team in the
lottery have the same exact chance. So even if you
missed the playoffs by a game, you have your logo
in the tumbler and you're the same as the other
team that is dead last in the NBA give a

(01:49:34):
fair shot to everyone. I think that would be a
way where there's there's no advantage to taking your models
will win because you're gonna have the same amount of
odds as any other team would have in the draft. Down, Billy,
shoot that down. It's something to think about because there's
really but you know what, you probably want to make

(01:49:55):
the top five teams have maybe have two loops in there,
because that's there. He goes whoever they would tax that's
the problem because they evened out the odds. Now the
top three teams have the same odds that they're still
getting it. Like, you need to make it no incentive
you You should have maybe two envelopes for those who
just miss out on the playoffs. The first pick and
everybody gets on. William said, great, wouldn't be the lottery,

(01:50:18):
they would have made the playoffs. Suggestion. I think Fox
Switch Radio should do this. Do a mock lottery take
do the same thing and put you know, with the
twelve four teen teams and the envelope and do it
and see how would come out. You know, please don't panert. Lord,
let's see you've been a great guest, sir, and I

(01:50:39):
will say this, and I truly believe this. If if
the Lakers missed out on the playoffs and got Zion Williamson,
Oh my goodness, like or if or Sacramento, if all
of us and they miss out but they get Zion,
there are now a top three team in the West,
instead of having them sit in Phoenix. The one thing,
one thing Anthony are going to talk about tomorrow, and
I say with this baseball because it's going to along

(01:51:00):
with Machado and Harper, I said, what if the NBA
didn't have a salary cap and didn't have max salaries,
how much would Lebron James get paid? How much with
Kevin Duran? Oh, you know what, I agree with that
they are they are. Lebron James is underpaid NBA stars
and almost underpaid stars in sports, right. I mean, yeah,
but these guys went through too much for ten years.

(01:51:22):
What is Lebron? What was Michael Jordan's works back then?
You know, and you probably would go into October before
these guys signed, because Lebron would be on Axiomare vacation
until he makes a decision and hold up the whole league. Yeah,
but you know what, we already got Lebron as a
billionaire putting out movies when he's supposed to be playing basketball.
So we already got that. We're already dealing with that
issue here, Billy. We don't need to talk anymore about that.

(01:51:44):
He showed up last night. Yeah, yeah, he sure did.
I wrote about you're right. He showed me. He showed
everybody you exactly right. And Billy, before I let you go,
before we let you go, do you cheer against the Celtics.
Do you cheer heart against the Celtics? No, not at all.
Ouseback and um, you know there's some good friends of mine, Danny,

(01:52:05):
I don't cheer. Get something to stir it up. Hey,
are you trying to stir it up? Because you've got
a great cast and you're all know. I just I
don't like the Celtics. I'm not a bus fan. I
got a big win last night. I was hoping. Hey,
we're on the same list of the tanking. Why not
on the Celtics. Well, I'm gonna be listening to you
guys tomorrow morning. Billy. It sounds you sound great. Thank
you guys, appreciate it. Thank for being on show. It

(01:52:28):
was fun. Six a have Eastern time, Billy King joining
Anthony Gargano on The Fellas here on Fox Sports Radio.
Come on, yeah, it's nothing wrong, guy, Ask if he
hates the Celtics, you know, I mean that's on the Today.
Hey they didn't win a title. Well you didn't say, though,
you didn't say do you hate him because of the trade?
You just left that part out. He's Bill Plashky. I'm Dan.
This is the Doug Gottlieb Show here on Fox Sports Radio.

(01:52:51):
Let's get an update on the latest from our good buddy,
Isaac Glowy girl. What's up? Isaac? Hey, Dan and Bill.
Today police and Jupiter, Florida charge New England Patriots owner
Robert Kraft with two counts of misdemeanor solicitation of prostitution.
A spokesperson for Crafts said, quote, we categorically deny that
Mr Craft engaged in any illegal activity. Because it is

(01:53:12):
a judicial matter, we will not be commenting further unquote. Now,
after the news broke, reporters staked out Craft's mansion in
Brookline at Massachusetts, where they have not as of yet
spotted the embattled Patriots owner. One of Craft's neighbors, however,
did speak with NBC. Ten white people can't be around people.

(01:53:35):
I mean, come on, people can't figure around people. Yeah,
he was around people. Literally, let's hear that again in
case people out there can't believe what they just heard.
This is one of Robert Craft's neighbors racing to his defense,
people can't be around people. Come on, like, she's the idiot?

(01:53:57):
Answer like, come on, what's wrong with you? Tailgate? You
can't make this crap up? I swear anyway elsewhere. Major
League Baseball announced that a twenty second pitch clock is
going to be used during spring training games and will
be gradually implemented in three phases. Do you agree that
should be for the regular season as well? That's that's

(01:54:19):
what what I'm really curious about it, And I think
they're doing a wise thing by implementing it gradually during
spring training. So I can't answer it now. Just put
it in. I sat through that at eighteen inning games
last year. You need to pay baseball is problem is
not length of game, it's pace of games. Hey, how
about putting a clock on those four minute commercial breaks

(01:54:41):
during the postseason. By the way, that's brilliant seven games
just like genius here in high school baseball, golfing, Round
two of the w g C Mexico Championship. Dustin Johnson
the one shot leader for Matt Coucher at eleven underpar

(01:55:02):
overall Tiger Woods six shots back, but today Tiger is
five under through seventeen. Also trending today on social media,
the sports world commemorating this event, which occurred thirty nine
years ago. A man in there the park still eleven.
You've got pink fucking going on right now, borrowing. That's right,

(01:55:32):
thirty nine years ago today the miracle on ice. Back
to the Doug gott Leap show at Dan Buyer and
Bill plash Ky sitting in today for Doug in ten seconds.
But first, a word from farmers. From a dog accidentally
flooding a living room to a dog taking a joy ride,
we've covered it, talked to farmers. We know a thing
or two because we've seen a thing or two. We
are farmers under written my Farmers truck fire insurance exchanges

(01:55:55):
and affiliates products unavailable in every state. Danna Bill back
to you, Isaac, you didn't credit ABC Television with the call.
Al Michael's and Ken's riding with the call on ABC
Television a telecast a telecast. It was actually tape delayed
by three hours back in those days. Yeah, and and
wasn't that something dam and the fact that they won
the championship with that game, didn't I was trying to

(01:56:19):
set you up? What are you doing? You ideas? And
I trying to stab me. I'm trying to set you up.
I'm trying to set you up. But yeah, that's it was.
It was round robin, right? Was that that was the whatever?
Who started? Who started miracle? With? Great movie? Who started

(01:56:40):
her Brooks? Kurt Russell? Kurt Russell? Yes, yes, that was
that was That was a great movie. Mark Johnson honored
recently in Madison. Yeah, so Mike, Yeah, there you go, Craig.
You know what I love is Isaac was about to
play the highlighting. Bill just killed the thunder by saying
miracle on ice. So I am so the rest of

(01:57:02):
the highlight was just excited that on New Year, right,
you're you're actually right, because the whole thing built up
that I totally blew that. Sorry, here's by the way,
this is the years ago was also the anniversary of
Clemson upsetting South Carolina and college basketball, so it could
have been that. Thank you very much. Isaac, this is
the Gottlieb Show here on Fox Sports Radio. I actually
have to get us back on track. He's Bill Plashky.

(01:57:24):
I'm Dan Buyer. I did point to him at that time.
By the way, Russell's I ambd here. Don't ask me why.
I don't ask me why sky at Bill Plashkey, I've
had Dan Buyer on Fox. Isaac Loowan Crown will join
us in a bit to give us more crazy headlines
this day. Russell and Captain Roun I've never seen it,
John Ron was do you know Captain Ron knew he
was a boat? Captain was Ron and that one playing

(01:57:50):
the role of Rock. I'm sorry I got the miracle
on ice school with her. Russell. Oh that's all right.
This is the Dutlip Show here on Fox Sports Radio.
Coming up next, Isaac will have more crazy stories from
this crazy day of the world of sports. Plus we'll
decide whose idea to fix the NBA's tanking issue is
the best. We'll do that next year on Fox. Be
sure to catch live editions of The Doug dot Leap

(01:58:12):
Show week days at noon Eastern three pm Pacific. From

I'm Dan Buyer. He's Bill Plasky sitting in for Doug today.
We hope you have a good weekend, or at least
one better than Robert Kraft's gonna have. We'll say that
for for what he's got with people being around people.

(01:58:54):
What's the quote? What I think there? I want to
hear that quote again. Yeah, hey, let's bring it Isaac
right now. This is one of Robert Rafts neighbors today
speaking to NBC ten from outside his Brookline, Massachusetts mansion.
People can't be around people. In a related story, Crafts
Defense attorneys are now crafting that into their closing y.

(01:59:18):
We've got a winner on our scandal nickname that we're
going to do after the press. But before we do
that and the press, I want to let you know, Bill,
did you know that tax Slayer has been in the
industry for over fifty years and they are rated number
one in the tax prep software category on trust Pilot. No,
I didn't know that. That's two big reasons why you
should be using tax Layer to slay your taxes this year.

(01:59:39):
Maximize your refund at tax layer dot. You know I
once saw King Slayer at the Laquer game, the guy
from Game of Thrones. Right, No, I don't, I haven't.
I know Lee has alright anyway, Yeah, I was too
busy watching Captain Ron You've never seen and he wore
I believe Kurt Russell wore and I patch in it
and I believe it. It's can I get some confirmation

(02:00:01):
on that? Believe? Yes, yes he did? Okay, that makes
it worthy. Russell as Herb Brooksie Miracle Russell when an
I patching Captain Ron six one half Doese the other
both great movies. Let's get to the press. The press.
So this is where Isaac just gives us some headline
storylines from today and we get to respond. This is

(02:00:22):
Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert speaking with NFL Network about
the Antonio Brown situation today. Yeah, teams have reached out.
We've had, you know, I'd say three teams that have
touch space with us, and we'll see where that grows.
I think it will continue to grow, and Colbert would
add if it doesn't benefit us, we won't do it.

(02:00:44):
I would have said, like eight teams, I would have
I would I thought it was weird. He said, we'll
see where that grows. I thought, he We'll see where
that goes. It was kind of a weird contraction. But
anyway it has to grow into They gotta get rid
of this guy. What price distraction? They need the growing
of draft picks from this three teams a lot of growth.
Speaking of moving on, Washington Nationals owner Mark Lerners speaking

(02:01:06):
the NBC Washington Today and saying that even though Bryce
Harper has not yet officially signed elsewhere, the ship has
sailed as far as the Nationals are concerned, saying, quote,
we've moved on, as I said back then, and we
had to. There was no way we could wait around Bryce.
I'm sure we'll make his decision, hopefully in the next
few days. But we've filled out our roster, and like

(02:01:27):
I said, we wish him nothing but the best. Yes,
you wish nothing but the best. You just killed his negotiation.
He just killed Scott Boris. Good job on that. Philly
has got to sign him now. Philly has no choice.
They gotta sign him, and but Bryce has to take
probably listen what he'd want to take. The Nationals actually
don't even need him, Like they've got enough young guys
in the outfield that they could yeah with without Bryce Harper.

(02:01:48):
I agree. Earlier today in San Diego, Manny Machado officially
introduced as the newest Padre. I'm especially curious as to
what Bill thinks about this comment that he made during
today's news conference. It's just the beginning. I've still having
hit my ceiling, and uh, at the end of the days,
it's about winning games, you know, I know, I know
my production is gonna be out there and I'm gonna

(02:02:09):
bring it every day. So to this point in my
career is more about obviously putting on numbers and helping
the team win, but helping others out around you. Um
makes makes everyone else better, makes the whole team better,
it makes the organization better. That's pretty cool. You're gonna
bring it every day now. Now he's gonna bring it
every day now that he's left the Dodgers in the

(02:02:29):
World Series while walking by walking to first base. Now
he's gonna bring it every day. And I'm not buying
it many with you to be tripping. Yeah, he's not
gonna hit the ceiling because he's not gonna leap as
high as he can. He's gonna dog and going for
the ceiling. Finally, after last night's lost, the Lakers rocket
star James Harden, who was called for four offensive fouls

(02:02:51):
in the contest, unloaded on official Scott Foster, calling him
rude and arrogant, saying, quote, I mean you aren't able
to talk to him throughout the course of the game,
and it's like, how do you build that relationship with officials? Unquote,
James Harden was rude and arrogant. What he's got supposed
to be your friends? Stop charging, Stop running over gods

(02:03:12):
to the basket. They got some brakes as well. Stop cheating, Yeah,
they got some brakes as well. Last night, backing out
there and pressed that was the press. Al Right. Here
it is comes down to this. The two finalists Forna
Gate and Tailgate is the Robert Kraft scandal name, and
the winner is Philiplasky Tailgate. Tailgate. Everybody weekend at least

(02:03:36):
better than Robert Kraft. Fox Sports Radio has the best

New episodes every Monday and Friday. Your support means the world to me and I don’t take it for granted — click the follow button and leave a review to help us spread the love with On Purpose. I can’t wait for you to listen to your first or 500th episode!
