Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening. Boom Up America, Doug Gottlieb Show, Fired Up
and ready Trade deadline day in Major League Baseball, the
Dodgers have done it again. The Rangers are mad at
me and uh Lebron being trolled by Steph on social

(00:22):
media because Steph and to a lesser extent, Cavalry were
clowning him at Trevor Rees's wedding over the weekend. Colin
Kaepernick still unsigned, but will he get that call from
Baltimore Ravens the one called the Ravens need to make
that I'm sure has been made before they decide if

(00:42):
in fact they're gonna bring Cap into camp, and it's
not to Ray Lewis, and it's not to anybody has
nothing to do with PC. We'll get to that during
the show. Man, we have a loaded show for you.
Matt Barnes is gonna join us. He an NBA champion
with the Golden State Warriors. Will ask him about Steph
clown ing Lebron. It appeared on social media. It's spread

(01:03):
like wildfire. I'll give you my own opinion. Then Barnes
will join us. Upcoming in twenty minutes. Here on the show,
we welcome you in on Facebook Live as well. Let's
start with the Dodgers. The Dodgers continue to write a
story book to which I'm not sure you'd believe. Okay,
I'm not sure you'd believe if it didn't actually happen

(01:23):
in reality. They win their thirty second come from behind
game last night. I believe that's their seventy second win
on the season. It is nuts what they're doing. They
have won thirty nine of their last forty six baseball games,
but last night, to me, sorry, last night, the thirty
nine of the last Last night, they topped any sort

(01:46):
of previous storybook. Okay, I'm not gonna talk about baseball
all day, with exception of the trade deadline, and I'm
fascinated by what happens next. Can they keep this alive
or does it does water finance level? I mean baseball.
They talk about one run game, games ultimately evening out.
If it ultimately evens out, the Dodgers are screwed in
the playoffs, But last night they're in the fourteenth inning.

(02:09):
I believe they're taking on the San Francisco Giants, and
the Giants stink. I'm not gonna try and tell you
this story and make it seem like he was some
Titanic battle there in the sorry the eleventh inning, it
seemed like the fourteenth. They came from behind in the
ninth to tie it up. Then it goes to eleven.
They give up a run at in the top of
the eleventh inning. Okay, so they're now down to run

(02:31):
again and they're their last roster player. Their last hitter
that's available to pinch hit is Kyle Farmer. Kyle Farmer
had never had a major league at bat previously in
his life. And it's not like he's some stud prospect,
right He's a catcher. He's hitting like three forty and

(02:52):
double in Triple A this year, nine home runs combined,
he's and none of He's more of a punch and
judy guy. Not that he's coming looking to hit forty bums.
As he comes into the Dodgers lineup, he had not
swung a live bat in a Major League baseball game.
He gets down oh tow two outs bottom of the
eleventh inning, and he doesn't just keep the rally alive

(03:16):
with runners at first and second, he hits one to
the corner and Dodgers Stadium, you've ever seen it, there's
they can rattle around in the corner, both runners come
around to score, they win the game. If you're Kyle Farmer,
you retire right now. He's one for one with two
rb I with a game winning walk off hit in
his only at baton Major League baseball. I have I

(03:38):
have seen amazing stories and teams find a way to
win games. I am not a Dodger fan. I traditionally
don't talk about Major League Baseball, and I'm not gonna
talk about it much more. I was at my first
UFC fight on Saturday night. My boy d C got
knocked out with a kick to the head in the
third round. I want to talk about that, but this

(03:59):
is one of those just down the street in Hollywood.
I'm not sure they would accept the script that Cal
Farmer comes up in Sunday Night by Baseball, bottom of
the eleventh inning, down to run first at bad hits
one that rattles around to the wall, and they scored
two runs. I haven't seen what the Dodgers are doing
ever before in my life. I just feel like it

(04:20):
should be mentioned because we we are in this We
are in this time in sports to which the only
thing that matters is what you do in the postseason.
Nothing else matters, but it should matter because this story
is awesome. It is. It is an amazing summer for
the Dodgers. What happens in the fall. I don't think
Kershaw is not healthy. They're trying to get another arm today, Like,

(04:41):
I don't know what they'll do in the fall. But
the summer remarkable. And then the juxtaposition in baseball with
baseball letting in a juicer Pud Rodriguez, Yes, thirteen gold gloves, Yes,
also a p E D guy. Everybody knows it was
mentioning Conseco's book and and other stuff. He's never come

(05:03):
out and said no, absolutely, I did not do it.
Not that that would matter because even the guys that
tested positive, even the guys that ultimately came clean, they
started out by saying no, I didn't do it. Pudge
was beloved. But Pudge is a steroid guy. And it's
really hard to get behind the plate every night unless
you gets some help. I believe that my Piazza was
a steroid guy. Hey, but the and then you, I mean,

(05:25):
you have you have guys that saw incredible production like
ped Rodriguez until they started testing positive for PDS Now
Pudge is also a former Texas Ranger, and the Rangers
had this sorrid history of give me your week, your tirget,
wretched masses of steroid guys, Alex Rodriguez, OSCN Saco, Rafael Palmero.

(05:48):
I'm I could go through a laundry list of players
and some pictures who have been linked to pe D
usage and have played for the Texas Rangers. Yesterday they
celebrate Adrian Beltras three hit and now I am a
persona non grata. I am the I am the devil
as far as current former Texas Rangers, and I had

(06:10):
no idea Texas Rangers baseball fans, Okay, I had no idea.
But let me just lay this out for you. Okay,
there's a high percentage of baseball players that have tested
positive that are from the Dominican Republic. I'm not making

(06:31):
this up. This is not some stereotype of Dominican players.
If it's a stereotype, it's created based upon the actual
statistical data that a high percentage of the players who
have been suspended from Major League Baseball for testing positivities
came from the Dominican Republic. One, there's a high density
of baseball players that come from the Dominican Republic to
play Major League Baseball. But two, it's legal, it's over

(06:54):
the counter, and if there's a different culture there than
there is here. Bell traced from the Dominican Republic. Beltrey
has also been as or more productive into his miden
now late thirties as he was in his twenties. That
is what we were told was a telltale sign. Hey,
guys have a tendency to age and then their production
starts to wane and fall off a cliff. That hasn't

(07:14):
happened with Adrian Beltrey. He does, in fact play for
the Texas Rangers, which you could say, well, it's a
home run hitters park as opposed to playing at Dodger
Stadium where he played or Seattle. But the fact is,
with the exception of one year with the Dodgers when
he's twenty five, he hadn't hit thirty home runs. The
one year was during the steroid era and it was
a contract year. Did he did he pull a Deep Gordon.

(07:38):
I'm not saying I know on equivocally Adrian Beltray did it.
I'm saying, hey, we've all been fooled before, and we
have some markers, right, we have some markers that could
tell could paint the tail of a guy who could
possibly be ahead of the curve and hasn't tested positive
for it. And it I'm I'm a human being. I'm

(07:58):
allowed to wonder because baseball has been as biness UH
a sport that has historically been ruined by PD guys.
I can't personally consider Barry Bonds the all time home
run king, even though I saw him hit more home
runs than anybody else, because he did it mostly all
the home runs a huge density with the help of

(08:18):
performance enhancing drugs. Baseball was all about his history was
all about stats. Last night was a great celebration of
history and stats and three thousand hits and a beloved
Dominican player. But I can't just sit there and going, Okay, no,
he's better in his thirties and he was his twenties,
and I don't suspect I do so. Whether it's former

(08:39):
UH Texas ranger Michael Young or current Texas Rangers tweeting
at me, there's no backing down from anything. I'm a
human being and a thoughtful one, and one that follows
and loves baseball. I'm not gonna be fooled twice. I'm
gonna suspect, and it's not because of me. It's because
of all of you baseball guys who turn into your

(09:00):
head when they were using steroids, and all of your
baseball guys that said, now Pudge belongs in and others don't,
even though we all knew what Pudge was doing. And frankly,
Mike Piazza, right like, Piazza hit over thirty home runs?
Was it like six times in his career? Did you
know that? Since steroids have been tested for in baseball,
there hasn't been one catcher hit thirty home runs in

(09:22):
a year. Did you know that? And Piazza is is
either the greatest home run anting catchers possible, but he
did like six times because it wears you down, and
what allows you to not get worn down the US
to perform dancing drugs. I'm not gonna be fooled twice.
I'm gonna suspect, and most people do. And just because

(09:45):
he's your boy doesn't mean you shouldn't suspect as well.
But we're friends. He's a great guy. Okay, there's plenty
of great any pett it's a great guy. Any Petti
was a juicer and then lied about it, and then
in front of a grand jury's I don't remember, Roger Clemens,
my I have might not have. Everybody says it's a
great guy. Alright, quickly we got breaking news. Let's go

(10:08):
to David Gascon. David breaking news from Fox Sports. Doug
sticking with Major League Baseball. It's a done deal, and
Jack Curry of the Yes Network has just reported that
the Yankees have traded four Sonny Gray and also one
point five million dollars in international bonus money. In exchange,
Oakland is getting three players, just named by Jeff Passon

(10:29):
of Yahoo's Sports. So the done deal for Sonny Gray
obviously a right handed picture that New York needs for
postseason play. Thank you look. Sonny Gray also under contract
for a couple of years. So though the Yankees are
probably parting ways with prospects, they're getting a guy who
they can count on. And this was the Yankees plan
all along. They knew what the trade deadline. If they
were there, they could add an arm, they could add

(10:51):
some salary. All right, Matt Barnes is gonna join us
up coming next I'm gonna ask him about Steph Curry
and Kyrie Irving clowning Lebron James. Here here's my quick thoughts. Okay, oh,
how could you make fun of Lebron James? How couldn't
you make fun of Lebron James? You put something out
on social media about working out and make it faces,

(11:15):
you're going to get clowned. That's where memes come from.
I'm I'm guessing that if Lebron James has real friends,
and I think he has a lot of real frends
he surrounds himself with, they probably clowned him about the video.
But does it expose that Kyrie has been done with

(11:37):
Lebron for a long time? Personally, I like that it's
a rivalry. Steph doesn't like Lebron. That's cool. Lebron doesn't
like Steph. We've known this for a while. Remember the
Calves did the did the tombstones? Uh to walk over
the death of Steph Curry at a Halloween party last year.
Rivalries are good. Hatred is good in sports, making fun

(11:57):
of each other is good. Okay, it wasn't personal in
terms of family, your kids or wives or whatever. It's
making fun of a video that Lebron James chose to
post himself but what does it mean for the rivalry?
Well last, Matt Barnes, he joins us up coming next.
If you're looking to sell your car, there's now a
new better way to do it with True Car. It's fast,

(12:19):
it's easy, and it's the best way to price your
car from the comfort of home. When you're ready to
experience a better way to sell or trade in your car,
checkout true car dot com slash Trade Today Doug got
Lieps Show, Fox Sports Radio. Uh, Matt barn is gonna

(12:39):
join us momentarily. I gotta figure out if he was
at the Trevor rees A wedding. He's U c l
A guy, Matt Barnes, the U c l A guy
as well, Like, was he at the wedding? Was he?
Was he the one filming? Uh? Filming the uh the
dance party. Matt Barnes joining us on the Doug got
Lip Show. Were you at Trevor Rees's wedding this weekend?
I was alright? So was that you at the camera work? No? Actually, uh,

(13:01):
Travis got too too long to get there. So actually
I was a little older. I checked it a little early.
You checked in a little early. Um, what what should
we take like, look, you've been in the league a
long time. Um, so there's been all different takes on
staff and to a lesser extent, Kyrie clouding Lebron over
something he put out on social media his first day

(13:21):
working out after the NBA Finals. What's your thoughts on it.
I think it's you know, I think it's over exaggerated.
I think it's guy's much around having a good time.
I think there's kind of been you know, a little
bit of competitive banter between Golden State and Cleveland, you know,
since they played in the final the last few years,
and you know, Lebron had his fair share, you know,
steps and steps does this thing, Draymond. You know, everyone

(13:43):
has a little something to say. So I think the
fact that the media caught it and then you know,
Kyrie happened to be there, it kind of blew it
out of proportion. Yeah, it's one of those things where like,
what is Kyrie supposed to do? Dude, Like, hey, that's
not cool. Not cool my teammate on the other hand,
because we know what else is going going on, or
we just like, look, no one's denied that Kyrie wants that.
Kyrie hasn't denied it. No one has said he absolutely

(14:05):
doesn't want out, so he can. Uh, we can suspect
that there's there's a whole lot of truth to the rumors.
But I guess, I I guess we have to ask ourselves, like,
if you're in that position and somebody starts clowning your
friend for something they put out on social media, like,
are you really gonna like stop them and shut it
down and or act well? I mean, I just think
and I think, you know, I think even Stephan Lebron

(14:26):
are friends, you know what I mean. I think, like
I said, I did, just think it's over exactive. I mean,
you don't have the locker room and if anybody can
get it, you know what I mean. I played with
you know, Shack and Kobe, and people talk to you know,
trash to them and make funt of them Lebron, there's
no exception to anybody, you know what I mean. In
the unlocked room and going state, everybody got it, including
the coaches, you know what I mean. So I just
think happened. It happened to be Stephan Kyrie, you know,

(14:47):
with all the stuff going on, and then it happened
to be filmed. So I don't think it's every good deal. Uh.
There there is this sense around the league that nobody
can beat the Warriors, at least from fans. Um, But
what's your sense of how beatable? Like you're part of
a championship team won that won four games to one
against the Calves. Uh do you think that's that's what

(15:07):
other people in the NBA believe? I mean, they're they
got something special there that and um, whether they can
be beat I don't know what I felt like last
year when we lost. You not to take away credit
from other teams, but you know, there were a good
point to what we kind of feel like we let
the game go instead of you know, as actually getting beat.
So um, you know, with them revamping their you know,

(15:29):
their bench this year and what they have with their core,
they're gonna have a good little run for a while. Yeah,
it feels that. It feels that way, and it feels
like fans are like, dude, just postpone it. Like, if
you're gonna make a run, you might want to, you know,
set set yourself up for a couple of years now.
If like if Clay Clay could be the only guy
to leave May maybe maybe that's the way you get
into it. Matt Barnes joining us on the Doug Gotlif

(15:51):
Show on on Fox Sports Radio. What about the Kyrie
s top you're at, You're at the wedding. Guys had
to be talking about it, right, and honestly they weren't.
It's funny they got guys weren't. You know what I mean.
We don't think it's it's I think it's strange when
you know, when the when the NBA cuts you, trade,
you waves you, it's the business. But when players want

(16:13):
to take their control of their brand and their happiness
and go elsewhere, and they're the villain. So it's something like,
as players, we understand, I mean, people want to be happy.
You know, Katie took less money to go to a
team to win a championship, you know what I mean.
So it's just it's the new age of the NBA.
I understand that that. You know, there may be hate
from the fans and a lot of trash talking, but

(16:33):
it just it is what it is, you know what
I mean. We we we want players to be happy,
and he wants to be happy. No alsom you know,
my hats off to what what did you learn about
Kevin Durant? That you didn't know before use your teammate.
He's just the killer man. And I really already knew it.
I just got to see it every single day. But
you know, having a garden and being friends with him,

(16:53):
you know, I knew what kind of duty was. And
I was just really happy that, you know, all the
people that talk down on them and bather them and
and talk bad, you know, he really just got to
let us play do the talking. And one of the championship.
It's weird because there's always going to be this group
of people that think he took the easy way out.
My perspective has been this Matt all he wanted was

(17:14):
the space to show his talents, right like when you're
playing when you're in Oklahomas City, like Andre Robertson, they
don't have to guard him. Now you gotta play one
on two. It makes it probably more difficult. All he
and and there was pressure for him to deliver. He
not only delivered, he did so against the best player
in the world at the most important points. He he
was the better player in the fourth core at the

(17:34):
same position as Lebron James. But we saw this with
Lebron in Miami, even after he won his first title.
He got he got respect, but it was like begrudging
respect and then ultimately it came around to, oh, yeah,
he is the best player. How long do you think
kind of the American sports fan comes around on just
how special KD is. It's gonna be so. And that's

(17:56):
with all due respect to Lebron, but and you know
KD is on the field, and how expicient he is.
He doesn't have He rarely has an off shooting nuner.
He that's it. He's been leaked every night. And the
three foot line, I mean, there's nice for his higher
in both categories and to be that big and that
skill at you know, a six seven foot guy playing
a really two guards skills and the other shoot the ball,

(18:18):
handle the ball. And you really got to see the
full package of Kevin Durant this year. The way from
past the ball, moved without the ball, obviously do what
he does with the ball, but then off the fence,
you know what I mean, he would just happen. He
was out there knowing that everybody had each other's back,
everyone's on the same plage. I mean, that's when he
really see the best of Keivin Durant. You yeah, probably
the best team you're on previous to this, or one

(18:39):
of the best teams was when you were on the Clippers,
when you guys seem to be primed to make a
run at a title. It never happened. Why did it
never happen? With that group? Um chemistry CHEMISTO was a
king And now seeing you know it really makes me think.
I mean, that was the first thing I thought about,
what I mean, outside the week believed team. I thought

(19:00):
about this Clipper team that you know have put you know,
going to stay down the year before they won the championship,
and how we had all the cases and why we
couldn't you know, get over that step and not been
playing with the Warriors and seeing the chemistry to have
in that locker room from top to bottom, players, staff, organization.

(19:20):
I was able to put my finger on it in
this chemistry. Okay, So how likely is Chris Paul to
have that chemistry when he needs the ball? James Harden
needs the ball and they're talking about adding Carmelo Anthony
who needs the ball? I understand the chemistry is more
than just about what happens on the floor. It's about
what happens off the floor, and as you mentioned, it
goes all the way up to the top of the organization,

(19:41):
to the you know, to the to the managers and
to the equipment guys. I get all that, but I
guess what I'm asking is you think it'll work. I think, um,
you know, with Chris already being a smart veteran player,
but knowing how Chris is, and then you know, just
knowing Mellows is a smart vetteran. I think they know
going in there that that's still Jenkings team, and I
think that they need to have their game off what

(20:04):
he does because I think he was able to show
that he is our do we top two or three
in the world and at what he does on the
offensive then so I think those guys going in there
are going to kind of have to take the back scene.
I think they know it. Like I said, they're veteran players.
Then understand and learn how to play with James, because
James is a special talent at Barnes. Join us in
the Doug Gotlip Show. I wasn't invited to play in

(20:25):
the flag football game. I'm kind of still room. You
want to come. We love to have you, man. I
don't want to be like a late, ad. I don't
want to like it's like it's like, like, oh, Matt,
you're having a birthday party. Can I I just added
James Harden, I don't if I at the wedding two
days ago. So I mean, I mean the late. Just
because you're late doesn't mean you're any lesser, lesser, more
important than anybody else. I mean, we're just taking people

(20:47):
out as they come. Man, it's for a great call.
So if you if you got some time on Funday,
come out. I'll tell you. Because I lost my dad
to cancer, I know this is uh uh, this is
Athletes Against Cancer. Matt Barnes and Snoop Dogg host the
Athletes Versus Cancer Worth annual celebrity flag football game. I'll
just tell you like that. One of the great moments
of my life, all right was um, I played for

(21:07):
the Lakers in their summer league and after the game,
Snoop Dogg told my dad to tell me what's up right,
and my dad came out to me. My my dad
was like, uh, some Snoop Snoopy dog told me to
say what's I was like, you talked to Snoop Dogg.
He knew my name, so I know it's it's you
and stoop um for people who don't know why is
this cause so important to you? Unfortunately lost my mom

(21:29):
to can since two thousand eight. He lost his uncle
Um two thousand twelves about in thirteen around that time,
and uh, it was just something that was dear to
both our hearts. Um he'd be dog football faning. I'm
a huge football fan. And about five years ago we
put this game together. We took a break last year
because the Olympics and a lot of the guys I
have playing with em they Olympics. So we're back this
year and they were raising money for cancer. Um and

(21:51):
when we have a hell of a list of celebrities
man in private and it's not just gonna saying that's
my game, but I haven't seen a list of celebrity
by this for one game in a long time. So
it's gonna be so weekend. So back there, spinnet. Who's
the quarterback we're looking? We're still working when we're We've
reached out to Mike Vick. We have a couple other
calls of the mother dads. We try I try to
get a former NFL quarterbacks. We've had Warren Moon in
the past, Rock and Key, Kurt Warner, Dude, they're gonna,

(22:13):
don't they bust somebody's face, Like, doesn't somebody throw it?
Like like, guys didn't really play like, I mean football
my first month. So I mean that's why I picked
this game. But a lot of these NBA guys can't
really get out there and play. And you know, we
have some mothers and left that we can really play.
So it's it's a fun time. It should be a
fun time, all right. That's August six, of course it's

(22:34):
uh at. Matt Barnes and stoop Dog host the Athletes
Versus Cancer fourth annual celebrity football game. It's at John
Burrows High School. That's in Burbank, California. You can find
out more information go to Athletes verse Cancer dot com. Matt.
This is a great cause. Whatever you need. If you
need something like you need a token light, dude, all
we the token light dude. I got, I got, I
got no, I got no problem with them. I will.

(22:55):
I will sacrifice all my ego and be your bench warmer.
You can check me in when we're up three touchdown.
It's late. I appreciate that, dog, Thank you very much.
As Matt Barnes, who won a championship with the Golden
State Warriors, joining us on the Doug Gottlip Show. The
Ravens are doing exactly the right thing when they're trying
to figure out Colin Kaepernick. They're pulling people, but there

(23:17):
is one person that I am sure they're talking to
that most people aren't discussing. Good to Catchel with Matt Varnes.
Gotta make sure I'm nice with him, otherwise he will
drive here and beat me up. Oh man, I'm telling
you what. That's a That's a cool cause though, and

(23:39):
it's true story though. My my uh Snoop Dog came
to my dad after NBA Summer leagu game one night.
It's like, hey, uh tell Doug. I said, what's up?
That was it? I'm like, I didn't get the story
until like two days later. My dad was like, oh, yeah,
it's a rapper. Uh Snoopy Dog? Yeah? He uh he
said to say Hi. I was like, no, what do
you actually say? He's just tell you what's up? Snoop Dogg?

(24:03):
Like v Snoop Dogg? Yeah? Is that? Like? This is this?
This is like in two thousand and one, right, Like
I first I had heard Snoop on deep Cover soundtrack
in the early mid nineties. Right, and then of course
my senior year was when Doggie Style came out, one
of the great albums of my lifetime. Right, there's like

(24:24):
the Chronic and Doggiest Hours, two of the best West
Coast albums are best albums are anyway? Um, yeah, So
they'll be playing football August six, that's coming up that
this week, next week, next I don't know what day today,
it's a week from Okay, cooler. So the Ravens may

(24:47):
need a quarterback. Joe Flacco has got a bad buck.
There's some dispute over how long he'll be out. And
Ryan Out sucked in his first day of practice through
what felt like a million recorded as five interceptions. And
Ryan Mount it's been one of those guys all the
talent in the world, not the intangibles, and hasn't been
And the Ravens like, wait, we might need another guy.

(25:08):
Steve Bashati is their owner. He said this in regards
to the potential signing Colin Capertin who I said last
week and Ryan Music, you weren't here if you're listening
to us, is our producer. He was in Hawaii. Um,
if he didn't hear it, If you didn't hear it,
you're listening to the Doug Gottli Show for the first time,
with a podcast which you should download. They'll be afraid
to read us. I said that if it doesn't happen here,

(25:29):
I'm not sure it happens this year. Greg Roman was
the offensive coordinator. He was his offensive coordinator in San Francisco.
You need a rabbi in the room. You need somebody
who swears by your talent, swears by you as a
human being, swears by your leadership. Remember he struggled with
leadership in San Francisco before all this protest. And then

(25:53):
John Harball's head coach brother Jim Harbaugh, who of course
he played for in San Francisco, So he has two
rabbis in the room. They need a quarterback. Flacco has
got a bad back. Flacco is coming off his arguably
his worst year as a professional. Heard his need two
years ago, back this year, like you need a dude
who's ready to go. It just makes sense. Steven Shotty,

(26:16):
their owner, We're very sensitive to it, we're monitoring it,
and we're still, as Ozzy Newsom says, we're scrimmaging it.
H We're trying to figure out what's the right tact.
Pray for us. The pray first thing is just odd, right,
Like wait, you're trying to figure out you're gonna sign
a quarterback, like, pray for us, all right. Ravens officials

(26:39):
say they've spoken to Kaepernick and he's committed to playing football.
That's a big, big thing because people in the NFL
are like, do you want to play football or do
you just you want to make a difference in society?
Because and I think this sometimes the message gets um
gets skewed a little bit, and you're like, well, why
does he have to answer questions about if he wants

(26:59):
to chaine society, because like, look, this is the job.
This is the job. You can't do both. They're just
you don't have the time today. You have to focus
your energy. Do you want to play football? He's like, yes,
I want to play football. We do want to win games,
and I'm not sure he is going to help us

(27:20):
do that. We're monitoring Joe Flacco in his back injury.
We've talked to Joe about it. We're monitoring Ryan Mallett
keeping our door open. We've talked about r G three
and bringing him in for a workout. Apparently they reached
out to ray Lewis trying to get gauge what fans
would react, kind of trying to gauge a lot of things.
Do you want to know who they're really talking to?

(27:41):
Joe Flacco? You're like, what do you mean, Joe flat Like, look,
Joe Flacco. He hasn't had success with Greg Roman. Okay,
different offensive cording to a different quarterback coach when he
won a Super Bowl. And though he has the big
contract and he has respect of of John Ball, he

(28:02):
is a pretty good chance he doesn't want that. And
you might think, well, it's about the flag protest, and
I'm sure there's a monochrom of it. But what Bishati
can't say is like, hey, we got when we asked
ray Lewis. We're not asking ray Lewis about the fans
and about protesting and about about the the movement, if
you will, we're asking fans. We're asking him what it

(28:25):
would be like in the locker room with Kaepernick, who's
not seen as a great leader but has had success
in the NFL. Flacco wasn't great last year. Flacco might
not even been good last year. We don't need anybody
taking We need the unquestioned leader of our football team
to be Joe Flacco. And if bringing in Colin Kaepernick,
who may or may not actually help us win, hurts

(28:47):
the ability for Joe Flacco to lead, then we're not
going to do it. I've no doubt in my mind
zero that they're talking to Flacco and at Flacco's word right,
maybe more so than what fans think matters a ton
to Bishotti, to Ozzy Knewsom to John Harball. I look

(29:12):
me personally, if I'm Flacco and I have supreme self confidence,
you know what. Bring him in? Don't care? Don't care.
And Kaepernick hasn't been good thirty second in in the
NFL and completion percentage of the last two years thirty
one in the NFL in total QBR. Forget about win loss.
I don't put that on him. He was in a

(29:32):
bad football team, okay, but he hasn't been great. We
haven't figured out how much money he wants. We haven't
figured out if he's willing to accept to roll as
a backup. But more than anything, we don't know and
we won't know if Joe Flacco wants him to be
hired as his backup because we have no idea how

(29:52):
that would sit in that locker room or sit with Flacco.
And you can't have Flacco's leadership question if you want
to get the best out of Flacco. Uh. Philip Rivers
and Antonio Gates, members of the now l A formerly
San Diego Chargers, are banned from attending La Damian Thompson's
Hall of Fame ceremony. Big deal, a little deal, or

(30:14):
no deal. I'll tell you next. When you're ready to
experience a better way to sell or trade in your car,
check out True car dot com slash Trade. Today, Doug
Allam Show Fox Sports Radio told you this is a
jam great album, right great both the g's and all right,

(30:37):
we got a bunch of things to get to today.
Day baseball going on. I got my thoughts on UFC
two fourteen watching Daniel Cormier get knocked out, watching some
of the other fights as well. Plus I got a
chance to sit very close to the rock ramas. Did
you watch it all? I did? Did you see me
when I was on TV right behind the guys from
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia? I was supposed to be

(30:58):
right behind the rock and then Heather Munson who actually
arranged the tickets and Fox. She's actually leaving Fox in
l A and go into foxing d C. Anyway, Uh,
Jason Whitlock was sick or something, so like an extra ticket.
I brought my buddy, so the two tickets together were
not behind the rocks. So I sat in whitlocks seats
a coupled down. Anyway. Uh, during one of the prelimbs,
I got popped on TV. Is pretty cool, very nice

(31:19):
because my friends like you look good. Idea. I was like,
oh about O, my god. Uh, let's find out what's
in my side. Let's reach into godly sacks in David,
what's what game we're playing from the sec? Well, let's
take a peek inside, Doug. We got big deal, little deal,
No dear got it, So here we go. Lad. Damian

(31:41):
Thomlinson will being shrine in the Pro Football Hall of
Fame on Saturday. The only problem is he has a
couple of teammates that might not be there. A corner
to Alex Marvez. The Sporting News reports at Ellie Chargers,
cam head coach Anthony Lynn told quarterback Philip Rivers and
also tight end Antonio Gates they need to attend Chargers
opening training camp practice at their new home field, the

(32:03):
stub Hub Center, rather than be in Canton, Ohio. So,
according to other reports out there, Gates is still considering
on going to Canton anyway against his coaches orders. Big deal,
little deal, or no deal at all. I think this
is a big deal. If you're Anthony Lynn, you've gotta
be smart about this. And that's not it's not don't
draw a line in the sand, right, I mean, just

(32:24):
what is what is the wind for Anthony? And I'm
sure this is more. Hey, it's our first one stub
Hub Center. We want everybody to be there. It's gonna
be big for the fans. Laday and Thominson is the
greatest living Charger. He just is junior Sayal unfortunately uhmitted suicide.
I mean, it's just it's an awful story. Those are

(32:45):
the two signature Chargers outside of Philip Rivers and Antonio Gates.
He's being inducted into the Pro Football All of Fame.
Like what what are we doing here? Like see the
see the see the great or good? I would guess
I think it's a big deal. I would guess that
the Chargers back down at some point and make an
adjustment to him. Yeah, hopefully do. Now. Speaking of the

(33:05):
l A Chargers, they've also announced that first round pick
wide receiver Mike Williams expected to miss all of training
camp with a back injury. Just last year with Clemson
ninety eight receptions plus yards and eleven touchdowns. I have
been told that Williams has They're fine with this progress,
that discussion of surgery of more surgery is not not

(33:28):
on the table at this point, and that they expect
him to play early in the season. But this is
this is part of his rehabilitation process, so that that's
that's what I've been told. All the good news is
Keenan Allen is back and he's also running rounds. Big
news or big deal, little deal or no deal at all.
At fifty six and forty seven Yankees right now a
half game in front of Boston the A L East,

(33:49):
they picked up a couple of pictures of the last
twenty four hours him A Garcia and then today right
handed pictures Sonny Gray, Garcia five and seven on the
year with an e r A of four Gray six
and five of the r A of three. Big deal
little deal. I think those are big deals. I mean,
obviously they need all hands on deck, all pictures on deck.
But the problem is not in their everyday line at

(34:10):
the problem is with their pitching. And they got two
starting pitchers, Garcia obviously with postseason more postseason experience, so
that will help them. Uh. They gave up a lot
to get to get Sonny Gray, but Gray is under
club control for I think two more years at a
reasonable rate. So I think it's a big deal because
the Yankees so far, I'm trying to think, like the
Astros haven't gotten an arm, have they. They They got

(34:32):
one Francisco Laron. They got Francisco Larrion. They get another
well traveled veteran guy who could give you some starts.
Won't be a number one or two in the playoffs. Um,
you know David Prices on the d L. So we
don't know about the But the Red Sox and their
pitching staff, I mean, in the hierarchy of the a L,
they had to get pitching in order to compete in
the playoffs, and they got pitching because you've got Casey

(34:54):
and Cleveland ranight there how like Kansas City turned this
thing around. H absolutely now going from Major League Baseball
to basketball a little bit. TMC Sports has found out
that Alan Iverson was gambling in Chicago at a casino
hours after he blew off the Big Big Three Basketball
League game in Dallas, Texas over the weekend. Iverson was

(35:16):
spot at the River's Casino on Saturday night and into
Sunday morning, and one wouldn't have says Ai was still
in the building at around three am. Big deal, little deal,
no deal, big deal, little deal and no deal at
it's a big deal, right, he didn't show up for
he didn't show up for his job and he was
either hungover or where was the River's Casino. It's in Chicago.

(35:41):
You're in Chicago and you're supposed to be in Dallas.
It's the problem. That's the problem, right, it's unprofessional behavior,
like this is like his last best shot. And I
mean credit to Amy Trask and ice Cube, but like
your name only goes so like you can't beat Jimmy
Doogan out there, you taking long piece instead of talking

(36:02):
to the team, right, Like even Jimmy Dougan, all he
had to do is be there and wave his cap,
and he always showed up. He might have been drunk,
but he'd show up and wave his cap in the
league of their own, league of their own, as Jimmy
Dugan references, you know. But but yeah, like this is
this is a I this is why Alan Iverson is
young enough to still be in the n b A.
I mean, he was out of the league by time

(36:23):
he was thirty five. This is what you want to
know why he's out of the NBA. This is what
Back to the gridiron. No Levan Bell at Steelers training
camp so far, and now the focus has turned to
another running back, James Conner. After practice with the NFL network,
head coach Mike Tomlin did not even acknowledge Bell, saying, quote,
We're not gonna waste a whole lot of time worrying

(36:45):
about the guys that aren't here. End quote big deal,
little deal, no deal, no deal. I mean, still Avian Bell,
he's ultimately gonna He's he's mad, but he's ultimately going
to sign the tender. A show up in camp. But
that's that's kind of classic football talk. Right, you're not here,
I'm not gonna talk about you. If you're not healthy
on the field, I'm not gonna talk about you. Last

(37:08):
one the Chicago Cubs made some history last year wearing
a World Series title for the first time in a
hundred and eight years, and today they made things right
with Steve Bartman. He was a part of the conversation
yet again. Bartman was presented with a World Series ring
and owner Tom Rickett's office at Wrigley Field. This morning,
Bartman received an identical ring given to many of the
staff members. Big deal, little deal or no deal. I

(37:32):
think it's a little deal. It's not a no deal,
it's a little deal. I hate the idea that staff
members get a ring. I just do. I'm not saying
that their work shouldn't be rewarded, they shouldn't get a bonus,
but like, unless you played, should you really get a
championship ring? Well, it's not on the same level as
the players. There's three tiers that were given away, so
it went from players, staff members, and then security guards.

(37:53):
So he got like a cracker jack box version of
the world. It's still I I just I hate. Sorry.
Everybody was a holes to you for the last twenty years,
for the last fifteen years. Here's the ring as a
token of our affection. Thanks to get Out. That was
Scott leads sad. That's a classic guy maneuver right there, Right,

(38:14):
that's like, that's the Kobe buying the four million dollar
earrings and then yeah, I listened, sorry, I stop with
another woman and then she accused me of rape. But
here's four million dollar ear rings. We're good. It's a glad.
It's a guy maneuver. And like by a guy's estimation,
you're like, yeah, we're good, right, Like you know, I
messed around, but I bought her diamond ear rings, you know,
whereas you know, I said I was sorry. I was
so sorry. I was so sorry. Reminds me at the

(38:37):
beginning of Bronx Tail. Get in the car, Get in
the car. I love you, I love you, Get in
the car. Right just it's it's such a guy. There's
clearly a guy made that decision. No woman would ever
make a decision like that. Woman be like, do you
know how bad that must have hurt? And the burdening
must carry in his hard and his soul. Thoughtful, they

(38:57):
understand these things. Guys like I get m a ring.
He's fine, We're good, We're good. Apparently I'm the only
person willing to talk about this, and because I'm asking
an honest question. Suddenly I've become a bad guy in
the DFW. Talk about that. Plus what I saw my
first ever UFC series of fights. I'll share it with you.
I'm coming next in the Doug Out the show Fox

(39:18):
Sports Radio. So much to get to today. So I
went to UFC two fourteen UM and it was pretty cool.
I mean, I was super super close, good seats and uh,
I want to talk about that. We'll get to that. Also,
I've got more thoughts on Kaepernick. We'll see if he's signed.

(39:38):
Doesn't appear like you heard from David Gascon. If you
get our updates that Justin Berlin or not gonna be traded,
We'll see about you, Darvish. You just tweet out a
picture still in his locker with ten minutes to go.
That that's a new tradition in Major League Baseball and
trade deadline, tweeting a picture of you in front of
your locker. But to this point, you, Darvish, has not
been moved, and Justin Verlander has not been moved, and

(39:59):
Zach Brittain has not moved, just like the wild Card
game last year, or Zach Britton did not move right,
It was like, look, you ain't can pitch in the
playoffs last year, You ain't gonna laffs next year or
this year. So uh, Zach Britton was awesome last year.
Still can't believe they didn't use him. But that's who

(40:19):
I am. Um. Look, it was kind of a there's
some emotional sports tales this weekend, right, but you had
Hall of Fame, which, look, I have my suspicions about
one of the other dudes, which most people do. And
then it's not really suspicions about Pudge Rodriguez. I was

(40:44):
brought up to believe the Pudge was one of the
all time great catchers. But it's really hard to overlook
his his p e D, his p D use, and
how his body changed, his whole approach to the plate
changed once they started testing for steroids, like he I mean,
his body was completely different, Like wait, he used to
be pudged, Now he's super skinny, what's the deal. Nonetheless,

(41:08):
there's obviously emotion when you get to recognized one of
the all time greats. I mentioned the emotion in the
Dodger game last night. I mean, you gotta what's the
kids named Farmer? Kyle Farmer his first career at bat
down or run first and second two outs. Bottom the
eleventh inning, he hits one to the wall and scores

(41:29):
both runs in his first and only career at bat
Like are you kidding me? An unbelievable about of emotion
in what the Dodgers have been able to do? Thirty
two come from behind wins, and then the emotion of
Daniel Cormier. Daniel Cormier was the light heavyweight Champion of
the World in UFC. He was knocked out in the

(41:54):
third round by John Jones. He got a kick to
the head, but it's really the shin of owns hit
him in the head and he was kind of out
and stumbling on his feet. Jones pounced on him. If
you watch the events live, you probably thought, hey, referee
should have stepped in there earlier. If you watch Cormier afterwards,

(42:14):
he didn't think the referee should have stopped it at all. Um.
If you watch the replay, it felt like the referee
did just about the best job you could do, because
though Jones pounced on him and he was defenseless, he
missed with several of those early punches when he was
frankly going for what you'd call a kill shot right,

(42:36):
he was going to try and knock him out, and
then when he started making some contact, that's when enough
was enough and they gave him. I think they call
it a champions chance, right where you give a guy
a little bit more leeway when he's a champion, because
you never know, Like I know, it's I know it's
fake and it's make believe, but everybody wants to believe

(42:56):
that there's that Hulk Hogan moment. Remember when Hulk Hogan
right like, they would hold up his arm and would
flop and hold up his arm and it would flop,
and the third time they'd hold up his arm, the
arm would stay up and all of a sudden, whole
comaniacs everywhere will go crazy, and he'd come back. Like
I do think there's something in our humanity of things.
You know, what's itid Rudy tom Jonovitch famously said, never

(43:18):
underestimate the heart of a champion, right, Um, okay, first
thing is like UFC is it's brutal. It is brutal.
I mean it's and I've been to boxing matches before,
and for whatever reason, it feels more violent even though

(43:39):
there's an equal level of violence. Especially it's more just
you know, hand to head with boxing. Um, here's what
I think separates boxing and ultimate fighting from any other sport.
I thought Daniel Cormier was winning. If nothing else, it
was it was about time. It was about I think
one of the judges had winning. Two of them had

(44:00):
it as a draw through two rounds. But it looked
like it was going to be a really, really good fight.
Jon Jones is the only one that's beaten him, and
he's a former champion who lost his belt because he
he tested he had the cocaine problem, cocaine charges. And
Daniel Cormier only had one loss to John Jones, whom

(44:21):
he had outplayed at fought early in their in their
first fight, only to be beaten late. It felt like
it was gonna go five. It felt like it was
going to be one of those all times. It was
really and and Cormier was kind of playing into the
crowd and anytime John Jones would try and punch him
and it looked like he came close, he was shaking
his head. It's kind of a showman. It was great.

(44:44):
And you know, half of the crowd is channing d c.
Half half the crowd is channing John Jones and it
was a lie. And the rest of the fights, you know,
one of the like, uh was it Chris Cyborg? I
mean it was, it was. It was just a matter
of when not if it was. I was just that
was brutal. The other woman just took an absolute beating,
like a savage beating, but she lasted three rounds. She's

(45:07):
just a punching bag for three rounds. And then Tyrone Woodley,
who was another champion, like he was great, but he
was just too athletic and too elusive for basically a
guy who was trying to take him to the ground.
And it was the fewest number of strikes thrown in
a championship fight, and everybody was booing. So it wasn't
great energy until the actual main event, which was unbelievable.

(45:29):
Here's what separates that sport from any other sports. It
went from fever pitched, can't miss it, unbelievable to holy cow,
it's over, like it's over. Like football games feel like
they're over, but there's still time in the clock. Baseball
games feel like they're over unless it's the bottom of
the ninth inning, right, Basketball games like, oh it's over.

(45:52):
We all say it's over, but it's not actually over
until it's over. No, no, no, no. It was a
great fight. It was a fair, the even fight. And
then one kick to the head and it happens. You know,
that's the the life comes at you fast. Life comes
at you fast. That octagon like it was over in
a heartbeat. Uh. And then there's the conversation about should

(46:18):
Joe Rogan have interviewed him? And Rogan it sounded like
didn't want to interview him, but they told me interview him. Ah.
I frankly thought it was incredible. I thought the emotion
of it was incredible. Was he can cussed? Sure, but
that that if he shouldn't conduct an interview because he's concussed,

(46:40):
that's on the doctor. That's not on Joe Rogan. That's
not on and that's on on Dana White. That's on
the doctor. Like it's a neurological specialist job to come
in there and go he's can shut him down, get
him to somewhere dark I Cormier wanted to leave the
octagon because he was so mad. They stopped it. Then

(47:01):
he was completely in consolable. They tried to get him
a sit down. He didn't want to sit down, like
and yeah, he was interviewed, and he should have been kidcustomed.
Maybe he shouldn't shouldn't have talked, but he wanted to.
And the person that should stop him is a doctor,
not podiatrists. No offensive podiatrists. I know they went to
medical school, not chiropractor. Not even a psychiatrist or a psychologist.

(47:24):
Psychiatrist is a doctor, psychologist or not the like a
medical professional that I'm sure is ringside that is supposed
to go like, hey, HEAs can kind of shut him
down on anybody ask questions. I don't put any of
the blame on Joe Roke and d C is a
friend and I felt christ fallen for him, Like there's

(47:45):
one of those deals to where it's so funny. Uh.
The whole world today is reacting to Steph Curry making
fun of Lebron James for Lebron James flexing and lifting
weights on on on social media, right on Instagram. But
it's like cool to make fun of Annual Cormier, who
won his concustant too, had to be crestfallen off over
losing a title fight to a guy that's the only

(48:06):
guy's beating him and beating him twice and like if
you were there, I said Cormier was winning. John Jones
is just too athletic for him. He just is. He's
just better. He's just better. And I think that realization,
especially for Cormier who has had an incredibly successful wrestling

(48:26):
career into an incredibly successful mixed martial arts career, the
idea that like, I can keep fighting, but what is
the point this guy is better than me. I'm gonna
get myself killed in my late thirties. Instead, I just
shut like all of that culminating was what the tears
are from? Like that was real sports. That's something I
actually want to see. I actually thought it was good.

(48:48):
And if he shouldn't have conducted an interview, that's on
a neurologist to decide, not Joe Rogan. Um, I believe
we have a Twitter war? Is that right? One? Two
three four two three four, I declare a Twitter I
tweeted out earlier Adrian Beltrey with a very rare offensive

(49:10):
explosion in his thirties. Forgive me if I wonder with
the what is this emoji? The thinking thinking man emoji?
Um so Michael Young and U current that's a former
text ranger and current teammate Jake Dykeman have tweeted out me,

(49:32):
Jake Dykeman, I should just stick to basketball. Uh, Emily Jones,
who covers the team, This is a joke, right, Michael Young,
I'm I assume you're wondering about Paul Malder, Michael, Mike Schmidt,
Randy Johnson, Marion Rivera as well. That's a lazy as take.
Actually it's not a lazy take. Lazy take is hey,

(49:55):
he's a friend of mine, I like him and he's clean. Right,
That is a lazy take. A thoughtful take is you know.
I actually talked to one of his former teammates with
the Dodgers this morning who said, I don't think so. Um,

(50:15):
I don't think so. In terms of steroids, p E.
D s body type never changed and uh, but he
also said one of the great all time guys like
loved him as a teammate. Talked to another former teammates
said you just you never know, right. And my take,
which is again thoughtful take, is all right, here's a

(50:35):
guy that's seen as or more success in his thirties
than in his twenties that hasn't happened or doesn't generally
happen in sports and hasn't had. That's what's changed in baseball.
That's why young players are so much more valuable in
baseball because they're not seeing the success at four thirty
eight years old the way they did when steroids were
in the game, because steroids cheap. Father Time, they just do.

(50:59):
He's also dominic And oh, you're racist, Like, no, I'm not.
Half the players have tested p ds for base test
posital pds baseball have been from the Dominican Republic. And
guess what, half the players in baseball aren't from the
Dominican Republic, Right, there's an unusual skewing of players from
the Dominican and testing positive for pds in baseball. I'm

(51:22):
not making this. And you know what, if I grew
up in the d R Well, if I grew up
in a tough area, if I grew up where Sammy
Sosa grew up, I grew up with nothing and I
had a chance against something, I'd like to think I
wouldn't cheat steps, I wouldn't cheat Father Time. I wouldn't.
I'd want to know how good I actually was. But
I understand that it's a it's a ridiculous amount of money,

(51:45):
d Gordon, I don't ever read the Mike the the
Bob Nightingale piece from USA Today. A friend of d Gordon's,
after d Gordon was got a big contract with suspending
fifty games, said d Gordon doesn't care. He got paid
fifty million dollars. So, yeah, he's Dominican. Yeah he's a ranger.
Yeah he is seeing success in his thirties in a

(52:07):
sport in which guys don't usually see success in their
thirties as a power hitter unless they're getting some help.
So maybe he's cheating father time naturally. Maybe he takes
care of his body. Maybe he's a fine wine like Look,
he's Dominican. If I would have said I wouldn't she
stunned me. If he's two years older than he has

(52:28):
actually listed as, well, that's racists say, like, no, it's not.
Dominican players when they've come over have been older than
they're actually listed as, which would make what he's doing
even more impressive and make me even more suspicious. So
lazy take Michael Young, former star with the Texas Rangers.
Lazy take is, well, he's my friend and I like him,

John Jones and if that's the last we see of

Daniel Cormier, I mean, you want to talk about from
outhouse to penthouse to outhouse in a second? Plus? Uh.
Steph Curry's video has not only gone viral, but also
it's called a ton of store in the NBA. I

You Darvish has been traded to the Dodgers. More on
that at half past the hour, we'll get you update

on you Darvish traded to the Dodge. So only Justin
Verlander and Zach Britton the two biggest names UH Pictures
starter reliever. Last year, I thought Britain should have won
the Cy Young Award or Verlander. Those two should have
won it. Either won it. Last year. Only verr Lander
and Britain were not moved. Of the guys expected to
be moved. But let's get to some of the other

(54:39):
stories of the day. We'll dig in on UFC, What
now for John Jones? What now for Daniel Cormier? And
we're their mistakes made at the end of the main event.
Plus Kyrie versus lebron What can we take from the
video of Steph Curry mocking Lebronze UH Instagram tw and

(55:00):
Kyrie reacting to it. Let's find our guys. We don't
know everything, but we know people that know what you
want to know. You know, sounds like you meet a guy.
I got a guy Marc Romondi joined US deputy Managing

(55:20):
editor at mm A Fighting dot Com. Uh, let's start
with Daniel Cormier knocked out and beaten for the second
time in two meetings against John's Jones. Uh. What's his
future hold if any, seeing as it doesn't appear like
he can beat Jon Jones. It's a great question. I
think that we probably won't see Daniel Cormier in the

(55:42):
octagon for for quite some time. He'll probably take a
well earned rest and then I mean, he has two options.
He can kind of jump back into the light heavyweight
and mix and and and by a contender there, which
I don't know if that is really what he wants
to do. Or he can go back up the heavyweight,
which he's under heavyweight. He's had a lot of success
in that division. He can probably still beat a lot

(56:04):
of the best heavyweights in the UFC. That's certainly a possibility.
And I guess you know, for for a third potential
option is it's retiring. He has a really great career
as a as a Fox Sports commentator. He's really great
on the desk. He hosts UFC Tonight on Wednesday nights.
So he has some options as far as his post
fighting career that he could jump into right now. But
something tells me, you know, this is how a cols

(56:24):
in combat sports. You know that these guys don't want
to retire. They usually want to try to carry on
if they're at a high level. And I think Dann
Cormie is still at a pretty high level. No, I
think he is, but I also think like he's a dad,
he's got the TV stuff. Uh, that had on some
level also when he watches it be scary, right because
that was it was. That was a great fight and
then all of a sudden, it just it felt like

(56:44):
Jones just had a level of athleticism that he did
not still have. And it shows how quickly things can
go bad there. Let me let me ask your your take,
as like you watch this, you study it. I felt
like watching it on replay that some of those first
couple of shots when he was down laying there, Jones
actually missed. I thought it was stopped at about the
right time. But you want you have a much greater

(57:06):
resource of of information, personal data watching it. What were
your thoughts. I think maybe it was a shade late,
but it but it wasn't. I've seen far. I've seen
far worse late stoppages. Even even Big John McCarthy, the
referee in the fight, tweeted last night that even he
felt like it was a little bit late, maybe he
could have stopped it before two more punches came into Cormier,

(57:29):
but it wasn't. I don't think it was egregious. I
think that, I mean, that's how it goes, you know.
And and of course in a title fight, it's a
main event. You don't want to leave any doubt. You
don't want you don't want to be in a situation
as a referee where people are wondering if it was
an early stoppage, well, could you know maybe maybe uh,
you know, the plight should have continued. Maybe maybe Cormier
had more fight in them. So I think it was
I think he, you know, in an incision that that

(57:49):
John McCarthy was then he probedly did the best job
that that he probably could at that at that point,
all right, what about John Jones? What's what's the next
dream fight? I've heard Lessner? But that was doesn't make
it much sense? Is that is Lessner the one that
he fights? He I don't think he fights Brock Lesner next,
and and not because of anything else other than you
sawda brock Lessner still suspended by USADA and by the

(58:11):
UFC for that, for that doping violation that he got
last year at UFC two hundred last July. The way
that it's that it's shaking out right now, dog is
that Lessner is out of the He actually retired from
the UFC formally, and he's out of the USADA testing
pool and he would need to get back into that
testing pool for the suspension to start up again. So

(58:32):
basically they freeze you out, So if you retire and
you're out of the pool, you're not getting tested. The
free the suspension. So right now the time is not
taking on that one year suspension, he still has more
than six months left on it. So even if brock
went into the testing pool today, he would still have
six plus months, so he wouldn't be able to come
back to the UFC until late January, February somewhere in

(58:52):
that time. And anyone who is as a wrestling fan
knows that brock Lessner fighting in that time period is
probably highly unlikely. Best rough a Mania season, he's gonna
he's gonna certainly perform for w w E next April
or earlier, you know, late March, whenever wrestling media is
next year. And uh, if he's gonna fight again, it
probably wouldn't be until next summer. So John Jones need
to take a fight before Brock. If that fight ever

(59:14):
does come together, Mark Romandi, you can fall him on

A I M O N D. I's the deputy manager
editor at mm A Fighting dot Com. Mark, great perspective.
Thanks so much for joining us. I got a guy
in Cleveland. Chris Foedor joins USKS beat writer for Cleveland
dot Com. The news over the weekend was only that

(59:35):
Steph Curry and Kyrie Irving were at Trevor Rees's wedding,
and the video shows us they were clowning, especially Steph
Curry clowning Lebron James is Um Instagram post from a
workout after the NBA Finals, Chris, when you saw the video,
what do you think? I laughed. I thought it was hilarious.

(59:55):
I thought everybody doing that is hilarious. I saw Janice
to do it earlier this summer and I thought it
was hilarious. So That was my reaction to it. My
second reaction was, oh boy, people in Cleveland are going
to be pretty annoyed at Kyrie and even more angry
than they already are. Okay, but what are the what
is like? What is Kyrie supposed to do? Is he
supposed to like? Is he supposed to like get mad

(01:00:17):
and walk away? Right? Like you're at a wedding, you're
having fun? And by the way, Steph Curry's impression was
pretty much dead on, like it was in fact funny.
Why why is he not allowed to laugh and egg
it on? That was the big question that I had.
So many people in Cleveland, Doug. They were tweeting, oh boy,
look at Kyrie stoking the fire again. And I even

(01:00:38):
responded to a couple of media members in this town
and a couple of fans in this time, said what
did he do wrong? In this case? He wasn't the
one that was imitating Lebron He was just in the
dance line and he was laughing about it. And I
think if we watched it the collective, we watched it
and we laughed and we thought it was hilarious. Why
wouldn't somebody who was actually there seeing it in per sin.

(01:01:00):
Why wouldn't they have the same reaction as us. So
I don't think Kyrie did anything wrong in this case.
He was just having a great time and then he
was laughing at something that a lot of other people
were laughing at because it was funny. You and I
are locked up in this Where do they end up
trading him? That's a great question, jo. I think the
Calves are trying to start um with the four teams
on his preferred destination list, and it's not like, Okay,

(01:01:22):
we're going to cater to him and we're going to
give him everything he wants. And it's not like he
has a no trade clause and he's two years left
on his contract. So those aren't the only options for him,
and I think everybody understands that. But if he has
already said that those are four places that he would
like to go, maybe those teams would be more willing
to meet the Calves asking price because they think they

(01:01:44):
can keep him long term. On the other side of things,
a team like Phoenix has always made a lot of
sense because what the Calves are looking for one or
two win now players so that they can compete better
against the Golden State Warriors, a young up and coming player,
probably on a key deal to help their salary cap
situation and represent some kind of hope for the future

(01:02:05):
moving forward. If you're going to move on from Kyrie,
Lebron can be a free agent Ineen, then maybe you
have a young building block still there. And they're also
looking for a draft pick or two because they don't
have any draft picks, and if they use it, fine,
but it could also be a trade asset for them
midway through the season to try and improve the roster
that way. So that's what they're looking for in return

(01:02:27):
for Kyrie. And Phoenix makes a lot of sense because
they've got so many young players. They have a win
now player and Eric Bledsoe, and then they've got draft
picks coming. Miami's first round pick is there's this year.
What's a reasonable timeline to me, Doug. I think while
a lot of people would say, Okay, wait this thing
out till December fifteenth or something like that, because Jeff

(01:02:50):
Ti signed with Minnesota and maybe he's in a potential
Minnesota deal involving Andrew Wiggins two, and Kyrie wants to
go to Minnesota, I think the Calvs internal timeline is
the first day of training camp, because I think the
last thing that they want to do coming into this season,
a very very important season, Kobe Altman's first season as
general manager and Lebron's final season under contract with Calves,

(01:03:13):
is bring any added drama to it. This is a
drama filled team to begin with, and they always have
little things that they have to deal with on the periphery.
For the last thing that you want is this kind
of chaos, this kind of conflict going into training camp,
given how important this season is. Chris fa Door from
Cleveland dot Com giving us his update from Cleveland the

(01:03:34):
uh Steph Curry Kyrie irving mockery of Lebron James who
left himself open to mockery with that silly video going
back a month or so ago. Chris great stop, thanks
for joining us. You got it all right. So you
needed a guy, We got you a guy. Give you
my thoughts on you, darvish what it means to the
Dyer's what means to other people? First though, let's find

(01:03:55):
out what's trending. Doug Allif show Fox Sports Radio Doom Doom, Doom,
Doom doo. So Alex Verdugo not in the U Darvish trade.
He's no outfielders the best overall prospect I believe best
remaining prospect in the Dodgers farm system. Is that correct. Uh,
Dodgers do have a loaded farm system. Of course we've

(01:04:17):
seen um and we've seen kind of the collups even
this year. Right, obviously Boninger has had an unbelievable, unbelievable
season as well as Clarke has two. So you look
at what the Dodgers are doing. They go in, they
get you Darvish, you would think you Darvish and assuming
they get Kershaw back now it allows them to Now

(01:04:42):
it allows them to try and capitalize on the great
regular season with the potential great postseason. Still have Kenley
Jansen and they've had just this magical, magical season. It's
gonna be weird though if they don't win the World
Series because uh, and I think disappointing to many people.

(01:05:04):
But I mentioned this, um, I think a week and
a half ago when I was hosting for Cowherds. Like
the reality of it is, Uh, the reality of it
is very simple that like I don't think anybody believes
they're that good, right, like that good? The l a

(01:05:24):
Dodgers are seventy four and thirty one, seventy thirty one,
and while they're run differential is plus, they've scored a
hundred and eighty five more runs than their opponent and
they've swept four They've swept fourteen series this year. They've
been utterly, in completely dominant in terms of wins and losses.

(01:05:46):
But the fact is that for their record being as
as great as it is, the run differential is not
that great. For example, the Houston Astros are sixty eight
and thirty six and they have a plus one sixty one.
Dodger won a ton of one run games. They want
a ton of comfort behind games, and those have a
tendency to even themselves out. Now, they should be better

(01:06:07):
once they get Darvish stands the reason, right, um, But
it's gonna be fascinating to see exactly how they do
in the postseason, because let's say they win one right now,
like they're on pace like one fifteen. Let's say they
went at games. That's an unbelievable year. And yet we

(01:06:29):
have gotten to this place in our sports society to which, yeah,
that's great, but you didn't win the World Series. But like,
well you know we lost. There was just one inning,
and it's like it's it's not like Clayton Kershaw. Kershaw
has actually been really good in the postseason with exception
of the seventh inning. And then when you combined it
with his utter insure dominance for the last half decade

(01:06:51):
in baseball, you're like, wow, this is like the most
dominant picture. Yeah, but he's had these terrible post season
Like is that these terrible seventh innings? And I mean
even Pedro Martinez, who was the most dominant right handed
pitcher I've ever seen. Right, I'm not saying that there
aren't more dominant right handed pitchers, and I'm not saying

(01:07:13):
that there aren't uh more electric right handed pitchers throughout
time in baseball or that you've seen for me my lifetime.
When Pedro Martinez was at his peak, he's the best
I've seen right hand pitcher. But remember Pedro, once you
got to a hundred pitches in the playoffs, we saw

(01:07:34):
what happen when Great Little didn't take him out. The
next year when the when the Red Sox came from behind,
he still struggled. Once you got past a hundred pitches,
the only difference was their bullpen was better. And look
they were down three games none for a reason. But
that's a that's a that's a big boy move right there,

(01:07:55):
that the Dodgers sitting there and they got a huge
ship count, and there you know what we're gonna We're
going in. We're going in, boys, We're going in. NAT's
get a closer not named Zach Britton, Dodgers, get a starter,
name you Darvish justin Verland are still hanging out with
the Detroit Tigers and Zach Britten still hanging out with

(01:08:17):
the Baltimorials. They do have the best run differential in baseball,
but they have far away the best record in baseball. Yes,
how does the best team in baseball the best record
in baseball all of a sudden being now all in?
Like aren't they already all in? I mean they have
the best record in baseball? Like what why is it
everybody's saying that there now they're in. It's like, well,

(01:08:38):
because it's it's two different there's two different ends. Well,
like they didn't have to they didn't have to move
anything around. They weren't willing to give up prospects before,
Like you go and get a U Darvish, who's the
ace or the Texas Rangers, and you're you're moving all
your chips in I remember part of their record, as
good as they've been, the Giants are as bad as
they've been in twenty years right there, forty and sixty six.

(01:09:00):
I think, yes, the Padres are still not good. Um,
and so some of that is kind of the reason
for their right. Some of it is who they play
the most is and some of it is they've had
these miraculous wins like you just thirty two come from
behind wins like that doesn't happen. So I think that
sometimes you're not I I understand where Bill parcels uhould

(01:09:22):
say you are what your record says you are. But
the Dodgers aren't that good, right, They are not that good.
They are not thirty three games above five dred five
games into the season, right, They're not that good. It's
it's a hot streak combined with some miraculous plays and guys.

(01:09:42):
I mean, like look at look at their roster or
their their lineup and the production they're getting. You can't
tell me that they expected to get this production or
that they'll get like they have a bunch of guys
having career years all ones. Chris Taylor is probably the
one with the biggest career year that you didn't expect.
We mentioned Chris Taylor to to Justin Turney's like, oh,
I saw some things, like last year he hit two
twenty when he got called up. Now he's hitting three twelve,

(01:10:05):
twelve home runs forty at RBI leading off, like Seger,
you knew about Justin Turners a little bit better maybe
than you thought, because he's surrounded by such a good
line up. Like Justin Turner is good, but is he
three sixty good? Justin Jer's it in three sixties on
base forty pent of the time. His war is three
point six. Like his numbers are obscene. You mean to
tell me that you knew Cody Belinger was gonna come
in and hit twenty eight home runs? No, you did not?

(01:10:28):
Whereas that like ya c L Puig home runs? All right,
that's about right. So I think to answer your question, Ramos,
I think everybody in baseball knows they're a very good team.
Kershaw is a dominant picture. But that in order to
go all in, they had to be willing to part
ways with some prospects in order to add to Kershaw,

(01:10:51):
who's who's hurt. Uh to add to Alex Wood who
has been out of his mind good. And now you
add you Darvish in you've got a one to three
in the playoffs and try to hand the ball to
to Uh to Kenley Jansen who has been just incredible
for most parts the season. I think that's how you
go out and you get a starting caliber arm and

(01:11:13):
ace like you, Darvish, and you're telling the world we're
willing to sacrifice. Guys. Remember the most valuable thing in
baseball right now are everyday players playing under club control
in that first four years of the six years of
a rookie deal, like you make nothing, you make less
than a million dollars a year. Clay Travis as a

(01:11:34):
team that has the worst quarterback situation in the entire league,
and the answer might surprise you. I'll have it for

last year is with the Angels and then the Cubs,
although he didn't appear in postseason play was with the
Blue Jays. They trade him to the Indians, where he
came to the Angels from Cleveland. He actually met his
wife in Cleveland. Pitched for the Indians in the playoffs.
This is going back four years ago. Um. His mom

(01:12:22):
suffers from Huntington's disease. She lives, I think, like an
hour away from Cleveland. He does a fundraiser for him,
brings him closer to home. His wife Ali the Forces
here on CBS's coverage of the SEC. She's from just
outside of Cleveland. They have a home there. A matter
of fact, his dog is named Brantley after Michael Brantley.
They're best friends. So like, look, will he help them

(01:12:43):
come out of the bullpen? Yes, But this is also
a guy getting a chance to play where he wants
to play, live where with guys that he really really like.
He's still very much a part of that club out.
That's a cool thing. We kind of have a dysfunctional
clubhouse here at Fox Sports Radio. We make fun of
each other. We like to point out other people's great
takes and other people's bad takes. We do so. Now,

(01:13:10):
Clay Travis lives in Tennessee, so let's hear his take
on what the worst quarterback situation the NFL is. Worst
situation right now? I would say for any team early
in training camp at the quarterback position that was hoping
to be decent. How about the Jacksonville Jaguars Blake Bortles
five interceptions in a two and a half hour practice.

(01:13:32):
Everybody's sitting around saying, wait a minute, maybe I got it.
Maybe I understand why Clay Travis has been saying Blake
Bortles is the worst quarterback of any team in the
NFL right now. One to thirty two. We don't know
a few teams who's gonna start, who's gonna start for
the Bears, We don't know who exactly is going to

(01:13:53):
start for the Jets, and we don't know forty niners.
A lot of teams don't necessarily know who their quarterback is.
But if the teams that have a quarterback that they know,
I think Blake Bortles probably the worst position that they're in.
I mean, like look, I mean there's all kinds of
kind of caveats there where you get like, well, he's
like well, he's the worst. And then like, but the
Jets haven't. Look, there's there's nothing that the Jets have

(01:14:15):
on the roster that's as good as Blake Bortles. Nothing
that the Jets have on the rosters is going to
Blake ports Um. And as much as I'm not a
Bordles guy either, or I haven't to this point been
a Bordles guy. Um, let's see how it plays out.
Because he hasn't been worst, Like Tyrod Taylor is not great.

(01:14:37):
He's back with the Buffalo Bills. Tyrod Taylor has been
better than what people expected. You guys, I wasn't with
you guys, my crew, John Ramos, Ryan Music, Cindy katz Um,
Dan Bayer normally joins us. David Gascon informed, I wasn't
with you guys. When Terrell Prior was the starting quarterback
of the Raiders, there were people like, hey, Terrell Prior
is pretty good. Like, no, he's not. Joel probably was

(01:14:58):
just a lot better than you thought he would be,
so you're viewing him much more favorably. Tyrod Taylor is
kind of that guy, like people thought he was too small.
He's a backup, and because he's a decent starter, you're like, oh,
he's good. That he's not good. He's not good, you know, Like, look,
I'm not terribly comfortable Tanney Hill. I know two years

(01:15:18):
ago he threw for four thousand yards and this last
year he got hurt at the end of the year,
and he's showing signs of improvement. I don't know how
good Ryan Tannehill is, do you, But I'll say this
about Bortles. Man, they've been loading up. They've got some dudes,
right if not this year when he's got Leonard Fournette,
so he has a legit star at running back. I

(01:15:39):
love d d. Westbrook, who he got. They got from
Oklahoma as you know, a third or fourth wide receiver,
you know, Marquise Lee Robinson over the other side. Like
they got dudes to throw too. I wouldn't be stunned
if Blake Bortles ends up having a very, very good year.
We've been waiting and waiting and waiting on the jack Wars,

(01:16:00):
no question, waiting on them to finally, you know, turn
it around. Obviously, last year they made a coaching change,
and now they're bringing Coughlin to kind of run the ship.
It's a little bit weird to me. Because he's never
Coughlin is like a little bit like Phil Jackson, right,
he's never actually been in a management position. But I
might be the only one. I don't think that Jack

(01:16:21):
of Peel. Jaguars are in close to the worst shape.
Jets are in way worse shape at quarterback. Way we're
shaping quarterback. Cleveland Browns are way worre shaping Cleveland knows
are in bad shape. They're just waiting until next year. Um,
the Broncos aren't in great shape at quarterback, are they?

(01:16:42):
I mean? People forget that the Eagles started out three
and oh and Carson Wentz wasn't particularly good most of
the most of the year in San Francisco forty Niners
L A. Rams Bortles doesn't have great experience, but at
least he has experience. There's no question he's bottomed ten

(01:17:02):
of the starting quarterbacks in the league. But there's also
no question that you can't somehow completely dismissed the Jets,
the Niners, the Browns and some of the other teams
that the Rams even at the bottom of the league
and try and say, well, we weren't counting those because
they don't know who their start obeyed So how was
your weekend? Boys? I saw Ryan just got back from

(01:17:24):
from MAUI. Did you take up any of my eating places?
Did you go to? We did, in fact go to
Star Noodle Was that It was great? It was very good. Yeah,
I loved it there. There pork buns were incredible and
their pad tie noodles with chicken was awesome. Their pork
bun Padre's. It's a it's a terrific place. Kind of

(01:17:44):
a weird location. I'm sure it's developed more in the
four years since I've been there, but it's a it's
still kind of off the path of that. It's kind
of like off the path into like an industrial area. Yeah, okay,
so it's still just like that. Music took a photo
with his girlfriend on the beach, but he had a
button down and like some blue pants. I'm like, dude,
you're in Hawaii, right, Like, why don't you have board
shorts and a T shirt on? Did she make you?

(01:18:06):
Did she pick out the halpen? Not necessarily picked it out,
but she did say that she wanted to look nice
for some pictures, so I obliged. That's looking nice, okay.
Why I have no problem with Steph Curry and Kyrie
Irving clowning Lebron James on social media. That's upcoming next?
Oh what up America? Doug gott Leave show, Fox Sports Radio,

Trade deadline is coming gone. Feels like the Dodgers got

(01:18:51):
better held under their top three prospects. Uh, whereas uh
the Yankees also trade away help prospects to get better.
Dodgers got you Darvish, Yankees got um what's his name
from the Oakland A's Sonny Gray? Sonny Gray, Jason lock
Camp four is gonna join us. We'll talk. Uh. Here,

(01:19:13):
here's a guy who lives in the Baltimore, d c. Area. Well,
we'll ask him about the temperature of Baltimore fans, whether
or not he thinks they'll sign Colin Kaepernick. Also asked
him about the Redskins and how he thinks they'll look
with her cousin's returning Terrell prior at It as a
wide receiver. Gets you ready? For Samana Fela's training camps

(01:19:35):
have begun. This is weird. I don't know if you
guys know this. So we're gonna take our our show.
I've been told to the Cowboys training camp, Rams and Chargers,
but the Rams and the Chargers like I live halfway
in between, Like it's ten minutes fifteen minutes to the
RAMS camp and ten minutes at most to the Chargers camp.
Like I was gonna go yesterday, but I was getting

(01:19:56):
I just moved into a house. We're getting a direct
TV put in. You don't want to go away from that? Well, no,
it's just like I can't. I can't like, yeah, hey dude,
fix fix it up and close up shop when you're done, right,
Like I'm the only guy there. He was super nice,
but it took a little bit longer than I thought
I would take it. You know, they give you that,
they give you that small window of eight until eight.

(01:20:19):
Sometimes they'll show up sometime, or maybe they won't. Right,
they did show up. It was fun anyway. So I
we're gonna I'll go privately and then well we're gonna
take the shop. I've until we're gonna take the show
there as well, which will be great and seeing in person,
although have you seen the numbers of fans showing up
for training camps large, large crowds. I don't really understand

(01:20:40):
that things. I don't understand that watching other people do
like I've never understood unless you're a basketball coach or
a football coach going to a basketball football practice, I
don't really get that. But again, I'm not a watcher,
Like I don't like to watch people. I'm not adult films.
You know, very ample there's some people that are like

(01:21:01):
watching that sort of thing, like even in person, like
that's their thing. Like I'm not just not a watcher.
I'm I'm more of a doer than a watcher. It's
actually what my son says when his friends. No, I'm
not polluting my son with that, so it is my
when kids play video games, my son always like, I'm dad,
I'm more of a do or not a watcher. That
that's how I am. I don't get the the NFL
practice thing. I always feel like somebody would have to

(01:21:23):
pay me. Like the reason I'm gonna do it is
so I can talk to gms and coaches and players.
You talk to those guys, My boy Connor barrowin. I
gotta tell him where to get he know, he has
a test, like I tell where to where to was
texting him last night where he can charge up his
car because that camp over you see your vine. So
it's valuable to me. But if you're like just a

(01:21:45):
fan in the stands, like I don't really get that Ramos.
Would you go? It was ten minutes from your house?
Would you? Guys? Well, I'm a Rams fan. You're talking
about general, just the Rams and the Chargers. Yes, I'd
go to the Rams or the Charges because I just
want to see what they do. So you're a Rams
fan from back when you're growing up when I was
a kid, Yes, back in the mid seventies, h and

(01:22:08):
I actually followed him to St. Louis. I didn't want
to pick a new team and then they came back
talk about luck. Yeah, I have lots of friends. I
grew up ten minutes down the road from Anaheim Stadium
where they used to play, and I was never a
big Now. Part of it was my dad was a
Giants fan. Part of it was that just team wasn't beloved,
just wasn't. But the NFL was very different that it

(01:22:29):
wasn't nearly as big whereas now I think, Look, I
think the Chargers deal playing in that small, little StubHub center.
I think it's gonna be hypety people. I think that
one's gonna be really fun. All right, more on the NFL,
And fifteen minutes, Jason lack Camp four is going to
join us. So over the weekend, there was Trevor Reesa

(01:22:51):
got married, Kyrie was there, Steph was there, and by now,
if you watched on social media, Steph Curry was clowning
or imitating Lebron James. Remember after they beat Lebron in
the finals, Lebron, the first thing we heard from on
social was him kind of working out music, blaring, flexing

(01:23:12):
at the camera. Do you remember that? So Steph Curry
did a remarkable impersonation of Lebron James. When I saw it,
I laughed because I knew exactly what he was doing,
and I thought it was funny. When Kyrie Irving saw it,
he laughed because the same reason that you would laugh. Now.

(01:23:36):
I don't know whether it's because we assume that Kyrie
and Lebron hate each other. I don't know if it's
because we bring in the story from last week, which
is that the Cleveland Cavaliers have been reaching out and
unable to get ahold of Kyrie Irving. I don't. I
would guess that's a good portion of it, But I

(01:23:57):
actually think that you have to ask yourself your Kyrier being,
what was your other option? First of all, it was
in fact funny. Second of all, you have to take
time and place where something curse. It's at a wedding,
you're on the dance floor, it's gotta funny. Third of all,
like what was supposed to do? Get mad and walk
away in a huff. That also would have made it
to social media, and he would have seemed You could, well,

(01:24:17):
Carrie's immature because he can't take it when they're busting
chops with the boy. I just I try to put
myself in that same situation. Think, first of all, Steph
Curry really good imitation. Everyone knew who he was imitating,
Like I was really good. If you don't want something
to be clowned or mocked, he can't put it on

(01:24:38):
social media. My wife has this. She she she doesn't
want me to ever put another photo of her on
social media. My wife is beautiful, smart, just two degrees
mother of three. You wouldn't even you wouldn't like she
just you wouldn't know how old she is. She's actually
seventy two. I married an older woman. She's much older
than me, but she looks at least half of her age.

(01:25:01):
So but my wife, she'll like if I put a
picture of being her on And because people hate me
and they don't hate me because they hate me, all right,
maybe Range your fans now hate me, all right, but
they don't. And Syracuse fans seem to hate me. They
don't know. There's no logical explanation to their hatred for
me other than I don't know. I said something once
upon a time that they didn't like, so they took

(01:25:22):
it to meaning I hate them that they hate me.
Whatever it is. All it takes is one Han Yock
to tweet at her or to comment on her photo
of that about her. She actually has short hair, like
really short hair, like Brenda Warner short hair, to where
she's like, I just I can't, I can't. I don't

(01:25:44):
know how you do it. I can't take social media
take the picture down. So at least she understands that, like,
you can't put anything out there because people are going
to clown it. People are gonna mock it. But the
clean people who clown it and mock it the most
are your friends, aren't They Like, I have friends that
that crushed My friends crush me, crush me for anything,

(01:26:06):
goofy that I say on TV, say on radio, tweet
out there. They just do. That's what friends, That's what
I thought friends do. And oh yeah, by the way,
and this is an important note, we're not saying that
Steph Curry and Lebron James are friends. Quite probably the opposite.
Doesn't mean their enemies, but it's like a it's a rivalry.
You tweet out something, you do something foolish. I'm gonna

(01:26:27):
do something. Remember Steph Curry. There was a video of
him last week. He was in Soul, South Korea, right,
and there's a guy out there with a Steph Curry
shirt and he's wearing Lebron James shoes. He runs over,
takes the guy's shoes off, throws him away, puts on
some Steph Curry shoes. This is kind of their competitors
on the floor, their competitors in the shoe game, their

(01:26:49):
competitors on social media, and they can make fun of
the other one's videos it's all fair game. It wasn't
about some of the kids. Wasn't this a best of
his wife, wasn't about anything personal. It was out some
hockey Lebron James weightlifting video. MH. So I don't see

(01:27:11):
it as that big a deal. I just don't. And
you know what, it's kind of good for the NBA.
We keep talking about the NBA. We're talking now about
where Kyrie is going. We're talking now about the rivalry
between the Calves and the Warriors. We keep having this conversation.
I look, baseball, I've told you before, Dodgers having a

(01:27:31):
historic season, but at least a two to one, three
to one, four to one ratio over up until now
trade deadline. Uh, NBA basketball being talked about during baseball season,
and the NBA was at its best when you had

(01:27:52):
rivalries where teams didn't really like each other and made
fun of each other. Like it's are worse or far
more I'm i'm people should look far more critically at
when Lebron James made fun of Dirk Navitski for supposedly
being sick. Remember that, then we should for Steph Curry
making fun of Lebron James video which is something he

(01:28:13):
tweeted out about himself working out and making faces at
the camera. Will Colin Kaepernick be a Baltimore Raven? And
if he's not a Raven? Will he be in the
league this year? Find out next you're gonna sell your car,

of course on their pregame show. You can see him

(01:29:16):
Sports dot com. J L See how are you? What's
going on? Buddy? Uh? Just just live with the dream. Okay,
so help me through the Baltimore Ravens. Right. I started
when I heard that they might need a quarterback, right,
I was like, well, Greg Romans there, that's the rabbi
in the room. He's worked with Kaepernick before, he got
John Harball. He can call Jim. But then you know,

(01:29:37):
you start to think, okay, well maybe Flacco will be back.
They got Ryan Mallett. Where where are they legitimately with Kaepernick?
All right? I mean there's playing foot see, I guess,
but I have never thought and still don't think it's
going anywhere for a couple of reasons. Day. I was
just there a few days ago. I just checked him

(01:29:58):
with situation again. They still believe Joe Flacco stones football
is in a matter of days, not weeks. So if
that's the case, all they needed was a camp arm,
which I guess they've now gone through to. They signed
the guy from some freaking indoor league I've never even
heard of, and then they cut him and I guess
brought somebody else in. So you're not looking for a
Colin Kaepernick there, You're you're looking for a camp arm.

(01:30:20):
And then they have an issue at salary cap where
they're only about slightly less than a million under the cat.
So you know, if you're bringing in Colin Kaepernick and
he's there to try to save your season, that's more
than a minimum contract. Ah. And you know they keep
talking to the both sides of the mouth about well,
you know it could be a distraction and all that
goes into it. You know, is it gonna be worth it?

(01:30:43):
And does the city really wanted and they had to
pay this lip service because of to your point, hardballs
unique relationship. I mean, Hardball is a guy who came
out at the owner's meetings in the spring and said,
there's no no, he's not being blackball. And of course
he's not being black ball, and it's just about football
and somebody's gonna need a quarterback and they're gonna sign him.
So he couldn't pretend that he wasn't available like most
of the team, most of the league is just pretended

(01:31:04):
he's not a free agent. He's just like want some
exemple lists or something. So that they had to pay
it some lip service. But ultimately I don't expect him
to do anything unless three or four days from now
Placas can't throw and something feels worse and he gets
an m R I and they find something structural, then
you're in a situation where, yeah, Ryan Mallet's not gonna

(01:31:26):
not gonna save people jobs there, and Kaepernick has a
better chance too. It's a game of desperation the team.
If there is one that reaches that that desperation point
of it's either Kaepernick or Whitehurst or r G three.
And we think we're a playoff team and we need
one of these guys to play more than just a
couple of weeks to try to win US football games.
Then they get signed. You know, That's how he gets signed.

(01:31:47):
If that doesn't happen, I don't think he will get signed,
is it? What's the percentage of it? That is the
the perception because of the protest, what's the percentage of it?
Which is because what I've heard is also like nobody
knows how much he wants to make, like when he
says starter he wants starter money or somewhere in that
neighborhood of starter money. And then you also have that
you know, he's kind of a unique fit for the

(01:32:08):
offense and even though he's seen some success, he's not
going to fit into every offense. Like what what are
the percentages in terms of how much the protest and
some of these side side the distraction is the reason
he's not in the league. Yeah, I don't know if
I buy the fit. I mean, he's got to be
more of a fit than Austin Davis or Folds or
Luke McCown. I mean, when you start talking about you know,

(01:32:31):
there's over a hundred quarterbacks in the contract right now.
They all fits. I mean I think it's I mean,
he's better than Ryan Mallett, and the Ravens have to
know that as evaluators, but they're comfortable with Mallett and
you know, mall it's been around there for a few years.
And even though he's done things that I would say
iffect the football. Mean this, I missed a flight when
he was actually like playing for a team, I mean

(01:32:53):
as a quarterback, like I'd say, he's actually done things
that are far more of a tangible distraction or had
actually ramifications on a team on a football field. More
so the name in Kaepernick's done, but it's it's not
his football. I I mean, I don't know how you
could say there are a hundred guys who do this
for a living, who were better than him. And and

(01:33:15):
then to the point about money, it's really easy to
find out make an offer. He can't sign himself. Nobody's
worked him out. If you don't know what kind of
shape he's in, work him out, you don't know how
much money he wants to make. Make him an offer,
see if they'll take it. That hasn't happened yet either.
Jason lack Camphora joining us on the Doug Gottlieb Show.
All right, let's go, let's let's stick in that same

(01:33:35):
area the country. Um, how does this redskin thing play out?
I mean, you know, lost in the Kaepernick discussion and
some of these other is what happened a couple of
weeks ago where Bruce Allen can't even pronounce Kirk Cousin's
name correctly, right, kids called him kirk Kirk kirk Kirk
And meanwhile, like, look, wait, we made him an offer
and he chose to go another way. In your opinion,

(01:33:57):
how do you think this plays out? I think they
can franchise in McGain. I mean, we can say all
we want about rational people and rational teams and what
makes sense and what makes common sense and what makes
fiscal sense. But like there you know, nobody thought it
made sense the franchise, and twice I didn't go, how
to we'll keep being kirk Cousins and don't have a

(01:34:19):
kirk Cousin's years and no franchise them and that couldn't
be the precursor to a sign and trade. Or they'll
just play him thirty plus a million dollars for next
year because well, we got to spend it on somebody.
And lately the only people who've gotten long term deals
at market value there are Trent Williams, who is a
stub left tackle and a former top draft pick and
you had to and Josh Norman, who you could argue

(01:34:41):
we said they overpaid for and who fell in their
lap because they've gentleman kicked him with the curbin in April.
So I mean that's it. Look at what else they do.
It's a one in two year sort of value play.
Is they're afraid to commit to people. It's like they
don't want to be locked in on anything, so they
can't say we pay them too much. I don't know, Doug.
I mean, you can't let him leave for a fourth

(01:35:02):
route top pick after all this, and that to me
is even crazier than paying up thirty two million dollars
next season for one for one year of work. Um.
The New York Giants have Odell Beckham's Jr. Which is
a spectacular talent. Last week, he said that he wanted
to be the highest paid player in the entire league. Look,
I would like to be the highest paid radio host
in the entire country too. We can all ask for things.

(01:35:24):
The reality of it is, position wise, Uh, he's he's
locked in at a lower rate. What's reasonable. The Giants
have said, like, look, he's gonna player, we love him,
we're gonna keep him, We're gonna pay him. But what's
what's reasonable in terms of breaking the bank and yet
understanding that he's still just a wide receiver. I think
you should be the highest paid wide receiver in the game.

(01:35:44):
The Steelers are kind of thinking that will be the
case too, and right now they did the deal with
Antonio Brown. He's younger than Antonio Brown. Um, you know
he's not that Antonio is not in the prime of
his career. But this really should be entering into a
sweet spot for Odell Beckham, and through any gauge, any
on field gauge, you want to use film numbers, metrics.

(01:36:06):
He's he's there with Jerry Rice and whoever else you
want to put them with in terms of, you know,
most productive first three years in the league. And remember
he came in injured and missed whole lot of time
that which should have been the most sort of critical
incubation time of his whole career. And he's still right
there historically significantly. So I mean, they're gonna have to

(01:36:27):
pay him that they know it, he knows it. How
much more they know? In question is how much more
than Antonio Brown does he get? And I'm sure he's
going to try to push for you know, in the
eighteen to twenty were at range where that's usually just
for quarterbacks and and frankly, I don't know that he
gets there, but opian you know, pleasantly, you know, healthfully
in the mid teens. There somewhere you mentioned the Pittsburgh Steelers.

(01:36:51):
Levyan Bell still the no show, Mike Tomlin not going
to talk about guys who aren't there stands a reason
ultimately he'll show up and play on the tender, right, Yes,
I mean it's twe million bucks if you're not gonna
get doing anything else. And Tom went, had a good
relationship with him. They speak regularly. He's going to come
in and sign a tenor it's just a matter of
when they They have urged him, Hey, don't don't do

(01:37:12):
it after the fourth preseason game, you know, don't do
it with only a week of practices before the regular season.
It won't help you because you still need that long
term payday. And it won't help us because if you
get a soft tissue injury, if you pull a hammy,
if you pull a plod right off the bat trying
to prove you didn't need training camp, that sets everybody back.
So I think if if they could cajole him to

(01:37:32):
come back around the third preseason game and maybe take
a snap or two in the fourth one, but have
two or three weeks of practice time to put that
base on um, you know, then that's about the best
they could hopeful hope for. But in the meantime that
I was just there over the week. I was on
Saturday Sunday. The kid Connor at a pitch, looks really good.
He got a ouch you on his shoulder. They don't
think it's gonna be anything long term, you know that

(01:37:55):
got now, Davis, there can return and do something, gadget
stuff whatever it. So it's not like at the end
of the world, they've got a good offensive lining. You
have to respect a pass game all over the field.
But yeah, I hope be there. I mean that it's
still remarkable me that he turned down what he did,
but and that that made me money. He never gets
back because of the injury situation, his history with them
in the past, and he's a guy whof he slips

(01:38:17):
up again off the field. You're talking about an extended,
prolonged absence, right. He's miss fourteen games the last two
seasons with suspension and injury. Jason Lockhan forward joining us
CBS NFL Insider Dallas Cowboys gonna play at the Hall
of Fame game and can'ton Ohio Zeke Elliott to to
this point, the Commissioner's office still going to do some
research in terms of kind of the latest nightclub thing. Um,

(01:38:41):
and I would guess Jason that even though it appears
that he probably knocked the guy out right, there has
been no denial. The non denial denial is not a
denial from Zeke Elliott. If he does get suspended, it's
gonna be because of the cumulative effect best of your knowledge,
do you think he does get set set down by
the league. I think he does. I don't think it'd

(01:39:03):
be more than a game or two. But I mean, look,
I've said this before, I'll say it again. I can't
often I can't speak to how their personal conduct policy
is applied and how some of these handles are suspended
suspensions are handled, because it seems like every few months
I see something I never seen hi from, Like I
was just in Pittsburgh. That guy got brank at the
practice in the spring markets. But he's coming to camp.

(01:39:26):
They think he's cool. Clear, They tell him he's been reinstated,
and then the steers get a phone call and say, yeah,
he can just go to meetings and he can go
to walk suits, but he can't practice, Like well why
and they're like, well, it just is. And then well,
why can't we put him on an exempt list or
an nf I list so he's not counting against our
number of players if he can't actually practice. And they're
still waiting to get an explanation on that. So I

(01:39:46):
don't know how these decisions are made, and I don't
think no one knows other than adolphel Birch and Roger
Goodell and the very few people who are in on them. Um.
But when they announced it is anyone's guests again, teams
generally beg, plead and and and scream to Joel to
to find out at least two weeks before the season
starts that they can prepare for the opener. But that's

(01:40:07):
that's not always necessarily the case. And if they think
it's open ended and there's another misdeed they're looking into
that we don't know about it yet, or they just
want to give him more time to potentually hang himself.
You know, That's that's their prerogative as well too. Geez,
how many practice? How many different organizations have you seen
so far? Uh? So far? I've seen the Redskins, Ravens, Steelers,

(01:40:27):
Browns and Siding. They got to the front with you.
I'll be driving to Indianapolis. Okay, So you've seen the
four teams in the north. Um, four teams in the
a f C North Right, Um, I see everybody but
the bench. He didn't see the Bengals, which I guess
here's always my question. Was there a team that looked
better than the rest of them? Pittsburgh is better than
the rest of them. I mean, there's not another There's

(01:40:48):
not Antonio Brown or any of those other rosters. There's
not a Ben Robinsburg or any of those other rosters. Uh,
you know, defensively, I think they're still a work in progress.
But offensively even with Bryant not being able to practice
and Justin Hunter, who has been a former second round pick,
he's been on he's only now on the Spoorts franchise.
He came out of college early, probably too early, but

(01:41:09):
at six four he's making plays in the red zone.
They still like Eli Rodgers as a slot guys, so
do I. UM. I like what Todd Haley does with
their offense and and uh yeah, I mean they should
be like New England this year, and so much as
they've got a three or four game lead by Thanksgiving
and it's just a matter of you know, are they
the one seed to two seeds? What have you mean?

(01:41:30):
I I believe the a f C North is really down.
Other than Pittsburgh, that's the only team I believe in
in that division. And I don't want to say it's
a cakewalk because those divisional games are always tough, but
that they should be playing for seating, not for the
division title. Um, do you think that Roethsburger's talk of
retirement is real? I mean, it's real, and so much

(01:41:51):
as he likes to that's how he amps himself up.
It's part of his mythology. He likes to be talked about.
He likes the intrigue, he likes the mystery, likes to
ride in on the white horse, whether it's overcoming an injury,
real or quasi imagined or what have you. That's the
role he likes to play, and that that gets him
fired up. And I think there's a part of this
subconscious that enjoys that. And I think he's I know,

(01:42:13):
he's got multiple years left on his deal. I know
they're not. They're not acting as if he's going away
anytime soon. And personally, given how close they are and
how close he is to Canton and how another super
Bowl would put him obviously completely over the the hiving
in all of fame or anyway, but do you want
to end all the debate? You know, once you go away,
you don't come back. This isn't you know, it's it's

(01:42:35):
it's not like the NBA and stuff like that. Where
Michael Jordan goes back to three years. That doesn't happen
in the NFL. You leave, it's over. I think he
plays out this contract at the very least, and who
knows after that. UM, Rivers and Gates right now are
being told you can't go to the Hall of Fame
induction ceremony because we have our first practice the new
stub Hub Center. It's in a new town. Anthony Lynn

(01:42:55):
delivering the bad news to his two stars who played
with with LT. But this this kind of feels like
the like I'm a Charger fan, but they can't get
out of their own way. Pr wise, Ultimately, do you
think they were lent. It's a tough one for me
because they are trying to make this initial impression and

(01:43:16):
these guys do have contracts and yeah, it's just one practice,
but they're trying to get over the hump there as well.
I mean, I think the unfortunate thing is just the
timing of the Hall of Fame. I mean, they're playing
the game one on the Thursday now, and I don't
know why that weekend just being so dragged out. But um,
as much as you want to be there and experience it,
you know, I don't know. They should have put the

(01:43:39):
chargers in the freaking game. I guess you can't put
everybody in, but I don't know. Doug. I can see
both sides of this one, and if that's one where
they've got to watch it on TV, can send the
video tribute. It's not the same as being there, but
I guess it's also not the end of the world.
Great stuff Jason Lockham for a fall on Twitter at
Jason Luckham for redas stuff online at CBS Sports dot Com.
Of course you can watch them on Steve Yes his

(01:44:00):
family of networks j LC. Great to catch up with you.
Enjoy the drive and the practice and we'll talk soon.
Thanks buddy always. That's Jason Lockham for do NFL teams
tank the commissioner said no and yes? Find out what
he actually said after we find out what's trending Doug

(01:44:20):
Gottlieb Show, Fox Sports Radio. Thanks to my boy j
LC for joining us. Uh, let's get you updated on
some of the things you might have missed in the
day of sports. I don't know if it's your afternoon,
if it's getting ready for your evening, if it's five
thirty five in the East, to thirty five in the West.
Here's the press, the press, David Gascon sitting in David

(01:44:41):
what he got for me? A bunch of different things
will start off. In the NFL. Here's a great quote.
Jets rookie Jamal Adams was asked about CTE at a
fan for him, and Roger Goodell was right next to him.
He goes, quote, if I had a perfect place to die,
I would die on the field. End quote. Who said that,
Jamal Adams? Um, Okay, careful what you wished for? I

(01:45:05):
guess I don't know. I mean everybody says like I
died doing like I love playing basketball. Piece of Pete
Mirovitch died like at forty years old playing pick up basketball.
Like not me. I love. I love basketball. Basketball is
giving me everything that I have, relationship with my friends,
my dad, mom, my brother give me. Essentially, this job

(01:45:27):
all started because of the ability to play in college basketball,
make a name for myself, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera. Um, there's
like fifteen ways I'd rather go. Most of them involved
like the woman that I love at a beach or
a hotel room or something. And like fifty years after
I get done playing professional sports, maybe sixty years afterwards. Anyway,

(01:45:50):
moving on to the NFL, Anthony Lynn, as we discussed
with Jason lackinfora Anthony Lynn, Charger's head coach, sent today
with the ESPN that two players and Jonor Gates Philip
Rivers are gonna make a joint decision on whether they
will go to Canton for Ladanian Tomlinson's and shriming into
the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Lynn also said, quote,
I don't know where that came from that report. I

(01:46:12):
guess you can't believe everything you read on Twitter. End quote. Okay,
so he said they're gonna make it. They're all gonna
make a joint decision together. Yeah, I would guess that
they're like, hey, you probably can't miss practice, and they're like, dude,
we're going. And he's like, okay, well, let's we're gonna
make a joint decision. It sounds like they got big
boyed by Philip Rivers and Antonio Gates and and Anthony

(01:46:33):
Lynn was like, look, I'm just everybody. I was told
everybody's got to be at this practice the first practice,
stubub this is not a joke. And they're like that
sounds great, But we've been here for like fifteen years
playing trummy teams. They haven't said boo, we're going now. Look,
I don't I don't like the I mean, Jerry Jones
is getting into Why is Jerry Jones getting the Hall

(01:46:53):
of Fame? Like what? What is what? I don't I
don't get it. Like the best that they ever were,
the best that they ever were, was when Jimmy Johnson
ran the team and he fought Jimmy Johnson and actually
eventually ran Jimmy Johnson on the town. Like that gets right.
Like he built an amazing building, a billion dollar building

(01:47:13):
right in the middle in a million and in the
middle of nowhere, and he's making millions off it. That's great.
I just don't understand how that rises to the level
of Hall of Fame in comparison to like Art Rooney
and some of the things that he's done. Anyway, but yeah,
it sounds it feels like he got it. Feels like
their new coach got big boy. That's what happens. Yeah,

(01:47:34):
speaking of Jerry Jones, NFL networkers reporting today that the
league will not announce a decision on Ezekiel Elliott's potential
discipline this week. Well, they don't want any bad publicity
for on Hall of Fame wake, that would be my guess.
They want Jerry Jones to answer questions about Jerry Jones
when Jerry Jones inducted into the Hall of Fame. Fox

(01:47:55):
Eyton Cleveland reports the grand jury has decided not to
indict Raider's first round pick Gary on con on sexual
assault allegations he made against all right against the allegations
made against him prior to the NFL Draft this year.
So good news for him, Yeah, I mean good news
for the Raiders as well. They put a lot of
equity out there, like what are you doing drafting this
guy when there's some allegations and they had done enough
research to which they felt comfortable in a short period

(01:48:16):
of time, and so um like, look, this is Gary
and Conley and hopefully it was just it was just
somebody who's trying to run his name through the mud.
Is the only thing I can think of, like not
the grand jury choosing not to indict. That's a there's
a very low bar that you have to jump over
in order to indict somebody that would seem like it's
they're more than frivolous claims, but like this is your

(01:48:40):
this is the past. You get like keep yourself clear
of any trouble in the future. Sticking with the National
Football League Jaguars, Brandon Albert announced his retirement today from
the league, but NFL Networks I and Rappaport reports Albert
will have to return three point four million dollars and
as signing bonus the Jaguars if he does follow through
with that retirement. No way, I mean, grab your helmet

(01:49:04):
and shoulder paths and get your Jacksonville big boy. Cut me,
cut me. I'm not gonna retire. Plus you're in Jacksonville,
Like what are you doing? You can hate football you want,
but I love money more than I hate football. In
the NBA Miami Heat for Justin Winslow says he's been
fully cleared for full content and we'll be ready to
go him for training camp after you tours rotator cuff

(01:49:25):
and had successful, successful surgery on it. No athlete has
ever had a surgery to which like now, I'm not
going to be right that surgery didn't take. No doctor
has ever come out and not had a successful procedure
to perform on an athlete that's that's that's one of
the ones. I think it's us one of the things
I think is very very interested. Like all surgeries on

(01:49:48):
athletes go according to Plant, that that one just that
you know what, no doctor has ever come out and said,
I screwed that one up here, that one up circling
back to the National Football League, no tanking in the
National Football League. That's according to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell,
and Goodell said, quote, I don't think any teams tank.

(01:50:09):
I really don't end quote as he was visiting the
Jets today during training camp. Uh, well was that before?
After you watched the Jets and plays? Has he been
to Cleveland? He also in his quotes he said, like, look,
some teams are trying to get play younger players. Like
that's the code. Code is like, hey, we're just playing
younger guys, right, We're just coaches do that. We're playing

(01:50:30):
younger guys. Organizations do that. They play younger guys because
he don't win with youth. Last one in Major Baseball,
go ahead, last one. Last one of the big new
Sunny Gray going to the New York Yankees. You Darvish
going from Texas to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Um, the
you know, two teams that have loaded up on their
farm system, use some of their farm system, not their

(01:50:52):
top prospects, to go out and get a starting caliber
arm that they'll use in the playoffs. Get out there
and pressed. That was the press starting to work towards
that dream scenario for baseball. Right, Cubs are playing better, Um,
you're gonna have I think. I think the Yankees will
still make the playoffs. They need the Yankees in the playoffs,
not just a wild card game. Red Sox, Nationals, Dodgers. Like,

(01:51:17):
you're getting the big markets in there and people that care.
And you know, look, Houston is a big market. They
don't really care, but it's Houston's a better market than
then like in Oakland to have an in Major League
Baseball in the playoffs. And Houston's got a lot of town,
a lot of town did not add an arm today
to their starting rotation, something that has been faltering as

(01:51:37):
of late. J R. Smith called out a Hall of
famer sounds crazy, right, Guess what I agree with? J R. Smith.
Share it with you up coming next when you're ready

(01:52:06):
So Tracy McGrady it is Hall of Fame acceptance speech
said that to anybody can win a championship, not everybody
can get into the Hall of Fame. Right um. JR.
Smith tweeted out, this man really say said anyone can
win a ring, but not everyone can make the Hall

(01:52:27):
of Fame. So no one else thinks that's dumb as hell.
Facts people who did nothing to make the hall. It
was like MLB, But okay, Baseball Hall of Fame, you can.
You can build a park and get in. So you
played for the Hall and not to win. If I
was on his team and we're fighting, I don't care

(01:52:48):
if we don't play anymore, don't waste my time, not
with hoop. Look, I'm gonna I'm gonna take j R.
Smith's side here, and some of it, you might say,
lost a little in trans lation, as he's mcgrady's trying
to feel good about himself because he didn't win a championship. Right,
but I don't understand how Tracey McGrady is in the

(01:53:10):
Hall of Fame. Until he joined the San Antonio Spurs
late in his career, when he was essentially their twelfth man.
He never made it out the first round of the playoffs.
First round of the playoffs. Think about that for a second,
Like when I'm not saying the bars you had to

(01:53:31):
win a championship, I'm not even setting the bar as
you had to get to the finals. Hey, I got
to the finals once. Uh you know that that's viewed
as AI's crowning team achievement. I just don't think Traycean
McGrady is All of Famer and the problem is that
we're it is like baseball. He is simply there because
of the stats he put up. When I thought the

(01:53:52):
reason we play sports is to win them, don't we
like no one Daytona the best car win now, But
the car leading at the end of the race wins? Correct?
They keep whoever wins, like Chase Elliot, I think at
the was leading most of the race and then he

(01:54:13):
ran out of gas at the end. Like, they don't
keep Chase Elliot's car in the hall in in that
hall of that Daytona Hall of Fame, do they not?
They keep whoever wins the race. So it's only not accurate.
I just don't even I don't understand the nay Smith
Marial Hall of Fame voters that they overlooked his lack

(01:54:36):
of any sort of postseason success. Ever, ever, like that's
it's almost harder to do what he did than to
win a series. It's hard to be considered that, Like,
how could you be consider that good and he played

(01:54:56):
with good players and not win one, not not win
one the series? Well, he was unlucky, Y'allman got hurt. Okay,
a couple of years in Houston. Yeahman got hurt. That's fair.
You are that unlucky? So yes, right, do you think
he gets a lot of credit, Like he's put up
onto a higher pedestal than what he was because it

(01:55:17):
seems like he was always just such a nice guy. No,
it's because he scored a bunch of points, scored a
bunch of points. He was in dunk contest, like he
did all the things, he did, all the glamour things. Right,
he looked cool, like he was the first, like he
planned the flag in the ground. First was Damon Stodtermount,
then was him in Toronto? Um luck, he was just

(01:55:40):
like he's the perfect example of just because he scored
the most points. Doesn't make you make you a great player?
Do those points help you win? This was not exactly
during the golden era of the NBA either or you
know so I don't. I'm with I'm on Team JR.
Here does it sit not sit well than anybody else?

(01:56:00):
Doesn't sit well with me? Which brings us to um
what has made me public enemy number one with Texas
Ranger fans. The only people were upset about this or
Texas Ranger fans. Adrian Beltrey got his three thousand hit
and if it's on the up and up, congratulations, that's
an incredible achievement. But I woke up this morning looking
at all the Adrian Beltrey love and I was wondering,

(01:56:22):
why isn't there the love right? Why hasn't he been recognized? Oh,
he's one of the most unrecognized. Is it because every
people know something that I don't know? Or suspect what
I think is reasonable? Suspect he's from the Dominican A
lot of Dominican players, higher percentage of Dominican players have
been suspended for p d US than any other any
other background. He's had more success in his thirties than

(01:56:45):
he did in his twenties that was supposed to be
a dead giveaway, and it doesn't exactly help me. Plays
with the Rangers, an organization that remember they welcome Sammy
Sosa back into baseball so he could hit his six
hundredth home run, knowing that Sammy Sosa is one of
the all time juicers. They've had some old timers there,
most notably a rod ped Rodriguez ha got in the

(01:57:06):
Hall of Fame. Raphael Palmeiro never ever period remember that one.
So if it's on the up and up, great, But
I can all I can tell you is I'm left
to wonder. And it's not my fault. It's all the
baseball players, all the Dominican baseball players who came before
Adrian Beltrey, all the guys that hit thirty bombs in

(01:57:26):
their in their mid to late thirties that came before
Adrian Beltray that I found out are using p d s.
Those are the guys that I blame. I don't blame
Adrian Beltray, and don't blame me for saying what most
people I think wonder. Matt Holliday will join us tomorrow,
Brian Billick will join us tomorrow, and Rob Ninkovich just
retired from the Patriots, will join us tomorrow. This is
