Speaker 1 (00:01):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio. How about a big
old boom on this Thursday afternoon. Deals in the NBA
can become official and the new league year is starting
right now. There is something else that is official and
j b k R edition here on Fox Sports Radio. Yes,
Joni Year here, Johnny Ramos here as well. That's it, Dan,

(00:26):
I can't take it anymore. Pants are coming off. Sorry, sorry,
it's hot outside and it's hot in here. Things are
heating up. Yes, the return of b k R today
here on Fox Sports Radio for the next three hours
or so, where we are going to dive into what
is happening in Major League Baseball. And there is still time.
You can still vote Ramos. Okay, hashtag vote Ramos if

(00:50):
you want to. Let's get John Ramos into the Major
League Baseball All Star Game on Tuesday. I don't know,
Jonas how good our efforts are going to be, but
we'll at least give it a shot. So you can
the hashtag in vote Ramos if you want to. Today, Well,
I was gonna ask you, and I hate to, you know,
feel like I'm unprepared for the show, and I feel
like kind of a jerk for asking this. Question. But

(01:10):
just between you and I know we're not on the
area yet, but um, who's John Ramos? Who is that guy?
Johnny Ramos is ready to go? Are you ready for
the final vote? John Ramos? Yeah, yeah, yeah, good. That's
all I needed to We'll dive into it a little

(01:31):
bit later on. But there is a trend. There is
a trend that is going on in the NBA that
I don't know jonas if people are aware that it
is happening, because there are so many things to distract
and to draw your attention to another place. But what
is happening is the small market basketball team is starting

(01:53):
to go away in the NBA. And there will be
an argument to say, oh wait a second, Cleveland's not
a big market. Okay, what are you talking What are
you talking about with Utah making it to the Western
Conference semifinals in Salt Lake City? What about the Milwaukee
Bucks making it to the playoffs? When you take a
step back and you look at what is happening to

(02:16):
small market teams in the NBA, the future for them
is very, very dire. And the one of the reasons,
and one of the main sticking points has been when
you start to look at what has happened this offseason
in the NBA. It may not seem like a big deal,
but Gordon Hayward did leave the Utah Jazz in Salt
Lake City for Boston. Paul George told Indiana he don't

(02:38):
want to be there anymore. And now there's a report
from Adrian or Janowski and you know Jonas woch bomb.
Oh yeah, Well, let's be honest, just kind of warn
it a little bit this offseason. I I am, I
am so sick of woch bomb. Okay. I I love
Adrian war Janowski's work, but if I see one more
tweet of woad bomb, Hey there was a woach bomb, Okay, Like,

(03:05):
all right, we get it. Okay, it's your dog, It's
we get it. Okay, it's a woch bomb, all right.
Adrian war Janowski broke a story. But what Adrian Wardzinowski
said today is that teams are starting to prepare Jonas
not for Paul George, not for the possibility of Lebron James,

(03:27):
but for the possibility of Janis and Tetekoompo. I mean this,
This is the equivalent to Nick Saban offering a thirteen
year older scholarship. What what what, What's what's wrong with
these people? Here's here's what blows to my mind about
all of this, and it doesn't like none of it
makes sense. So let me get this straight. The Golden

(03:48):
State Warriors are the standard bear in the NBA, right,
Like they're the team that everybody looks at and goes,
I would love to model my my franchise after that, absolutely,
partly because they drafted incredibly well. I mean they've drafted
three Hall of Famers and like a four or five
year stretch in Clay Thompson, Uh, you know, Steph Curry,
Draymond Green. They also drafted Harrison Barnes as well too.

(04:10):
They go out and they make all these you know,
like strategic moves to where they like smart moves where
they bring in veterans like andre Iguodala and they bring
in Sean Livingston and they give him to cap friendly
deals and then the one big free agent signing they
make is Kevin Durant. So, like you figure, drafted incredibly well,
smart with their money, signed a big time free agent,
and then other teams around the NBA are like, yeah,

(04:33):
we'll give Auto Porter a hundred million dollars and trying
to form big threes, because I think that's like, well, like,
are you dumb? Do you not see how they built
their team and how that's the model you follow. That's
why I don't understand when people like nitpick Danny Ainge
forgot all he does is care about draft picks. Well,

(04:53):
if Golden State didn't care about draft picks, they wouldn't
have a team they add. So I just like, I
I don't I think incredible, mean, yeah, you're seeing it
like small market teams are like, well now what like
what the hell? What hell we do? The Milwaukee Bucks
are on an upswing in Janis and Teta Coopo is
arguably maybe the second third best player in the Eastern
Conference right now, and there are many things that he

(05:16):
can only get better and better. And the fact is
is it's not just a Milwaukee story. It's a Salt
Lake story, and it's a in Indianapolis story, and you
know what, it could be a New Orleans story. The
Clippers dealing with Chris Paul shed light on on what
could be a real problem, and it happened with the
Indiana Pacers in a way that was a little different

(05:38):
than Chris Paul. But the fact is the Pacers had
to deal Paul George because they wanted something in return. Okay,
that was the fact of the matter. Chris Paul told
the Clippers, I'm gonna sign with Houston. This is where
I'm going in free agency. Doesn't matter that I can
make more here than in Houston. I'm gonna sign with Houston.
So then the Clippers are like, oh great, now we're

(05:59):
gonna lose our point guard and get nothing in return. Well,
it helps Houston if a trade is able to be
facilitated because they can free up some salary. But it
also then is an advantage to Chris Paul because now
his bird rights go with him to Houston, where he
can end up making more money. And while the Clippers
aren't a small market team in Los Angeles, these are

(06:19):
going to be the dilemmas that small market teams with
stars are going to have in the future. And it's
just amazing for me to think of the Milwaukee Bucks.
Now we're gonna sit there in a three to four
year worry period about what could happen with Janis and
Teta Compo and trying to figure out how they're going
to formulate their team because they're worried about their star
losing their star. The Utah Jazz are now not in

(06:41):
damaged control, but they're trying to shape everything up and
and trying to move on without Gordon Hayward. Small market
teams are gonna have a tough time keeping their stars
when they're up for these bigger and bigger deals. And
and while people want to say you could be a
star in any market, that is not the case. That
is not what is happening in the NBA right now. No,
And I also think that listen, here's like what bothers
me the mostly and I don't feel bad necessarily for

(07:03):
small market teams. I feel bad for the Utah Jazz
just in the sense that Utah looked at a team
like Golden State and said, Okay, they've drafted well. Player
development was the strength they I mean, they've done really,
really well and in finding the right guys to play
in that system, and they look like they were on
the rise, and right is they're about to take the
next step and they bring some key guys back. Gordon
Hayward Bolton goes and joins the Boston Celtics. I think

(07:26):
part of that, the big reason why he win is
because of his relationship with Brad Stevens. It was a
pre existing relationship, and the fact that it was Boston
helped a little bit. But I feel bad for teams
like Utah, UM, Indiana. I feel bad for they were
putting a terrible spot because Indiana was basically told in
publicly by Paul George, I'm not going to be here.

(07:46):
I'm out, you know whatever you look at Like. The
Clippers have always been the second fiddle in l A.
That's just the reality of the situation. So when people think, man,
I want to go play in l A, they don't
think like, oh, I want to go play for the Clippers.
Come on, man, Like anybody remember Michael Cage as a Clipper,
Like yeah, I mean the machine, Yeah, I mean like,

(08:07):
it's not like you think, like, oh, man, let's go
play for the Clippers. So, but I don't feel bad
for teams like Oklahoma City. Um. Oklahoma City has had
i mean Hall of Famer after Hall of Famer that
they've drafted, and they've made some questionable personnel moves. But
it's just it's so funny to me how how people
are are already gearing up five years from now, like Okay,

(08:28):
this is the move we want to make. Let's go
ahead and let's have some room here because Janice is
going to open up in you know, five years from now,
and then also Anthony Davis and another three years he
may become available. So let's make sure we got all
our ducks in a row so that we can be
ready for that. Who the hell says you're gonna be
here in three years? Like, could you imagine if an

(08:48):
NFL team said this, like, Hey, we're gonna stink because
we hear that there's a freshman quarterback at a Toledo
and he's going to be the guy once he's done
graduating as a senior. So who cares if we win
like four games over the next four years, Well, you'll
be fired. Like it makes no sense. So I think
a lot of this is like I like, these guys

(09:09):
struggle with like the timelines and how this works, Like
it's a slow build. You can't do it all in
one offseason. I get it that you want to be
prepared for it, but christ like, why don't you prepare
for the worst two and the worst days? You don't
end up with him and you're out of a job.
When when the Warriors were running through the NBA playoffs,
you were really concerned about the twenty five other teams
in the league because like, so much was made about

(09:32):
so much, so much was made about one and two,
and that's the Warriors and the Cavaliers, that's and and
and you're sitting there like, who's gonna challenge those teams?
So then you're talking about three and four. Who's gonna
step up and be competitors. Maybe it's now the Rockets.
I still say the Spurs of the Spurs, and the
Spurs are gonna be there, so you've got to put
them into the consideration, and maybe the Celtics. But now

(09:53):
it is it really is of the the the point of,
if you're a small market team and you're trying to
plan the a seat is no longer good because nothing
in the playoffs makes you think that you can be competitive.
And it's the same thing with with the sixth seed
and the fifth seed. And this is this is gonna
become an issue and it isn't just a big three.
You've got to have a plan. But but your rights
to the fact of you don't know if they're going

(10:15):
to be there, meaning the front office and GMS and
the head coach and the head coach turn around in
the NBA seems to be quicker than any other sport
that there is. There's just no guarantee, but these teams
are going to have to be planning for that, or
ownership is going to have to be planning for that,
because they don't want to be caught in a situation
where there's no chance that they could sign a Lebron
James like some teams are next year, and these teams

(10:36):
don't want to be caught in there's no chance they're
gonna sign Jhannese and Teta Compot. It's why I don't
fault some of these teams for going out and signing
veteran players like you know, at and on the back
end of their career. Like that's why I didn't fault
you know, Chicago going out and signing Dwayne Waite. Nobody
thought that was gonna work. Remember we were talking about, like,
you know, the Nicks going out and signing Joe Kim

(10:56):
Noah and and Derrick Rose, Like nobody really thought that
was gonna work or make any sense. Those guys were
way past their prime. But you gotta sell tickets, man, too,
like it's a business for these guys also, so you
need something interesting. Like I remember growing up a Boston
Celtic fan, and I remember one offseason I thought the
Celtics were set up to make a title run. And

(11:17):
you want to know why I thought that, because they
went out and they signed Dominique Wilkins and Purvose Purviose
nervous purpose. And I'm not even like Dominique Wilkins. You know,
back end of the Slam Dunk Contest years, we're talking
Dominique Wilkins, Like in another couple hours, he's gonna be
playing pro ball in Turkey. Like it just but it

(11:38):
got people excited. It was a name you recognized. So
I don't fault those teams. I just think there's there.
You're gonna have more than twenty of those teams that
are looking around that are trying to figure out how
they can make their games entertaining and make it to
where you want to go. Do you see what the
Hawks did? First of all, the Hawks made no moves.
They didn't even offer a contract to Paul Millsap. They
they they are And I talked to somebody in Atlanta

(11:59):
who said, oh, they've bl blown want a tank there
in full blown tank. Modahawks do not care. You know
what their big announcement was this offseason. They've got a
bar on the court and they've got top golf, like seriously,
like they don't care. They just want people their games.
There's the fact of the Utah Jazz making into the
Western Conference semifinals and now almost having to reload, not

(12:21):
necessarily rebuild, is a scary proposition for a lot of teams.
And I'll say this that specific example, Jonas shows that
players you don't have to prove to a player that
there's a championship team okay, because the Jazz are a
team that can compete. So if you're Milwaukee or if
you're New Orleans, there is no guarantee that you end

(12:43):
up keeping your guy just because you have a competitive team.
And if you mortgage your future for what could happen
in the three years to try to sell your free agent.
That's something that these small market teams can't recover from.
He is Dan Buyer. I am Jonas Knocks. We are
in for Doug Goddlip here Fox Sports Radio. You can
all please listen to the show on the I Heart

up next our insider will tell you what major move

(13:26):
could be on the brink out of the n b A.
The off season is not over. We'll have that for
you next here on FSR. Still time to vote Ramos
here on Fox Sports Radio a b KR edition as
we are and for Doug Gottlieb's Jonas Knocks, I'm Dan
Buyer John Ramos with us as well brick House. Just
hashtag it vote Ramos. That's the way you get in

(13:48):
final time to to vote in Major League Baseball on
who you think should get into the All Star Game
that's taking place on Tuesday. You can see the game
on Fox and hopefully you'll see John Ramo. I think
I deserve a little bit of credit here for something
I'm able to find out, not what exactly the song
is that John's playing, but what songs sounds similar to it.
And I think I do a pretty good job, do

(14:10):
a great job, you know, I gotta be you can
beat hues Am. I think that the Jonas. By the way,
if you're listening on the podcast, you have no idea
what with this. I know you were in a hard
rock band, but you're more into like kind of like
the new wave sound as well, like you kinda yeah, yeah,
there's a listen. I Beethoven Radio on Pandora is really

(14:31):
really good as well, too, big fan of Beethoven. If
I had any entrance music, if I was like a
fighter or something like that, I think Moonlight Sonata would
be my entrance music. Danio, Oh really yeah, I think so.
John Ramo's his favorite as Frank Sonata one of his favorites,
isn't it. Yes, I'm glad. I didn't know you're gonna
say that over the airways, but it's come out now,
so yes, it's true. Frank sna He also drives the sonata,

(14:55):
so John Ramos does as well. It's part of his
card deal that he has with the uh with the net.
Well that's the thing, like, I'm so not a car guy.
Oh really? Oh on this baby? There you go on
the board, right off the bat. Yeah. The NBA League
gear started today. Can we turn Wimbledon off? This? I

(15:19):
love it the grass courts, although they're starting to get
a little worn. Now you want to have a little trivia, Dan,
I was at the gym doing cardio this morning after
my workout, and there were two TVs in front of me.
All right, two TVs. One of them had Wimbledon on
and the other television was broken. All right, Dan, buyer
for a thousand dollars, which screen? And do you think

(15:40):
I watched the most while doing cardio? Wimbledon or the
broken television? Gosh. I I'd almost want to use my
fifty fifty where I could take one of the answers away, um,
but I am going to go with broken TV. That
is correct. A thousand dollars is yours, because Wimbledon is

(16:00):
thank you very much. One For one year I drove
past a brush fire. That is was the excitement of
my dame. Yes, maybe I'll put it up on Twitter,
but I was. I have to admit I was driving
when I took the video, so it may be illegal.
And also bon Jovi was on the radio for the
two second video that you can see the brush fire.
Um yeah, I I'll throw that up there on Dan

(16:21):
Buyer on Fox in about five minutes or so. But
instead we're gonna talk oops are good. Friend Brian Geltzeiler
from Sirius XM and NBA TV joining us. Hey, Brian,
how you doing good? We are, we are doing well
and Jonas Is is pumped to dive into what's happening
in the NBA. And we started the show out today
on small market teams because we heard the Adrian war

(16:43):
Zanowski report that teams are already starting to plan when
Janice and tenacop In Tennacopo becomes a free agent in
one do you think that there is a the the
future for small market teams is worse in the future
or do you think things will continue to get at
it for them considering what we've seen in this what
would be free agent period. Listen, the system is built

(17:08):
that each team has an equal chance and what's happening
now is with the advent of super teams. Um, you know,
owners that are willing to pay the tax and have
had some success in the past and half stars already
or in a distinct advantage. But make no mistake about it.
You can be a small market team and if you're
having the right level of success and can bring free agents,
and you can still be a title contender. It's there's

(17:32):
one thing the league is never gonna be able to
legislate against, and that's guy's taking less money to stay together,
like what Kevin Durant did here in Golden State, allowing
them to keep it with I'll allowing them to keep
living stim so you know all that that he did
in ten million dollars less a year. The league can't
do anything about that. Guys want to do that, they
can do that, and so I don't know that the
system is broken. I also think we've seen a scenario

(17:53):
here where, quite frankly, last year's NBA off season was
a drunk orgy of spending of ridiculous money players that
never should be able to get that much money in
the open market. We've seen much more responsible spending this
year because teams capped themselves out pretty quickly, they went
through a lot of their cat cash and now it
teams are being a lot more careful, and you're in
a scenario right now where you actually have more players

(18:15):
available and you really have money available to pay those players.
So you know, the markets adjusting on its own here,
and it's gonna make if you signed a guy to
a big contract last summer and he hasn't done much
for you. Some of those bad contracts, I mean, look
at it. Let's say Jokin Noah Louell, dang Evan Turner
or Alan Crab even Tyler Johnson. These are absurd contract
numbers right now that were signed last year and and

(18:36):
a lot of teams have misread that market. So yeah,
I don't really think small markets have that huge an issue,
you know. I know the people people in Utah are
very upset and feel like that Gordon Hayward screwed them.
He really didn't. You know. They had every opportunity to
move him out and bring in a package for him,
and they chose to try to everything they could to
keep him. That was their choice. But that comes with
downside risk and right now they're realizing the downside. Brian

(18:57):
gelt Tayler series x M M B A T The
Insider and Host here joining us on Fox Sports Radio
Dan Buyer Jonas knocks in for Doug Gottlieb. With the
Gordon Hayward going to Boston, Jason Tatum, obviously they're gonna
have to move some pieces out of there. What concern like,
what what concern should Cleveland and maybe the rest of
the Eastern Conference have with what Boston has done this offseason? Well,

(19:21):
I will tell you this. If Boston can find a
way to clear the requisite cap space for Gordon Hayward here,
which I think they will without moving Marcus Smart, I
think that's something that everybody else should be, uh should
be pretty nervous about that, I will tell you. And
the reason I say that is because, uh, their big issue,

(19:41):
Boston's big Achilles heal is Isaiah Thomas. Layton games on
the defensive end of the floor, and the ability to
do the offense defense thing with Smart Thomas has been
something that Bred Stevens has done a wonderful, wonderful job with.
So from that standpoint, um, you know, it's it's he
you know, they If they can keep Smart miss team
and you're able to use him in those spots, I

(20:02):
think you're gonna have a very very interesting situation. I
really do, and so to me, that's what you gotta
worry about. But you know, Jay crowd or getting rid
of Jae Crowd, or don't horn I get rid of
Jae Crowder. They can manage to clear this cap space
and keep Smart and Bradley on board. Watch out, Austo
is gonna be a very very tough team. Listen. They
still need some depth upfront and to add a big
I still think that something they're gonna need to do,

(20:23):
But I don't know they're gonna be able to do
with this go around. Maybe if they want to use
one of the exceptions, after they figure out a way
to get this cap space in, I think it will
all be good. But you know, yeah, for Boston right now,
you know, if they're able to keep both Smart and
Bradley and have their great perimeter defenders, they can be
a pretty scary team. NBA analyst Brian Keltzyler joining us
here on Fox Sports Radio. He's Jonas Knocks, I'm Dan

(20:43):
Buyer and for Doug Gottlieb Today you can get Brian
on Twitter at Hoop's critic. What is the way to build?
I know it's different for most teams, but if you
were to start to start a franchise or trying to
become competitive. What is the best way to do it?
Because I personally think there's a big misconception I'm just
getting a big three and letting everything play out. How
would you do it, Brian, Well, let's say it's there's

(21:07):
there's a lot of different ways to skin a cat.
There's a lot of different ways to go get yourself
a big three. There's no Warriors, got you know, three
other big four through the draft, you know. So I
think that it depends. Every situation is going to be different. Ultimately,
you know, if you can draft well, obviously that gives
you a big leg up. And and if you have
an opportunity to go get yourself a star player, you

(21:27):
have to go get that star player, even at the
risk of potentially losing him as a rental. You have
to have enough confidence in you're programing to go get
that guy. So I don't know that there's any one
right way to go ahead and build. I mean, listen,
for the Cleveland Cavaliers, what was there a great way
to build? Well, they were lucky enough that one of
the greatest players on the plane that happened to be
born a half hour for away from where they're located.
I mean, it's that simple. Sometimes it's all about lock

(21:50):
and that's the other things. So, you know, I don't
know that there's one way. I think there's a lot
of different ways you can do things. But I think
if you're gonna be a player in free agency, you're
gonna have to draft well and build something first. So
I still think draft comes first and foremost last one
before we let you go. That One of the sort
of angles that came off the Gordon Hayward deciding to
go to Boston instead of Utah or Miami is this

(22:11):
is now another year in a row to where pat
Riley hasn't had the off season that he's been known for.
And I've always said that I think maybe he gets
a little bit too much credit that, you know, being
in South Beach and the relationship that Dwayne Wade have
with Lebron James is really the reason why those guys
ended up going there. Are you hearing from people you
talked to around the league that maybe pat Riley is
starting to I don't know if slip is the right word,

(22:32):
but but this is a couple of years in a
row now he hasn't been able to deliver on even
moderate free agent potential that's on the market. Nope, he listened.
He had a plan this summer and the plant is
going to Cordon. The plan if you could get Gordon Hayward,
Gretty could get Gordon Haywards. Baca was a guy who
was going to kick the tires on before the Hayward
thing had a resolution. Boca won back to Toronto. So

(22:53):
for right now, Riley and then the next thing he
was gonna do was go to Johnson and Waiters and
keep together the situation from last year that they with
thirty and eleven unless forty one games of the season. No,
if anything, pat Riley is more respected than ever. And
the reality is that the fact that that you know,
Lebron left and with what happened with Bosh has a
stroke of bad luck and he made a decision on Wade,

(23:14):
all of that none of that hung with pat Riley's.
Pat Riley is, you know, as as respected as he's
ever been for who he is in this league. So
I don't think, I yeah, I don't know if I
agree with you there, Jonas I think for Riley, the
zip is still on the fastball it's just, you know,
the circumstances are tough. You know, he's still trying to
recover from losing Lebron James. But you know they've discovered Whiteside.
The Dragon's trade worked out really well last year. Again,

(23:35):
keep one thing in mind, thirty and eleven in the
final forty one games of the season. I think it's
gonna be very interesting to see what they do this year.
But look for the Heat without a doubt to be
a playoff camp. Well, since we're friends, I mean just
to say you agree with me, so it makes me
feel better about myself. I think I can't we're friends kidding,
I can't. He's Brian gel Tyler, NBA analysts for Sirius

(23:57):
x M and NBA TV. Find him on Twitter at
Hoop's Critic Brian, Thanks so much, appreciate it. We'll do
it again soon. You gotta take your thanks. The heat
is on you, Jonas knocks. Otherwise, listen, you're gonna retire
Chris Bosh's jersey. Mario Chalmers has played more games in
a Heat uniform than Chris Bosh, and you're gonna retire
his jersey. I just don't buy I think that there's

(24:18):
something to the endings of Lebron's tenure, Dwyane Wade's tenure
and Chris Bosh's tenure in Miami that carry some weight
to maybe things are a little bit different. But I
only wanted to do that when Brian was off the line. Yeah,
there it is. That's my that's my guy. That is
Dan Buyer. I'm Jonas Knox in for Doug Gottlieb here
Fox Sports Radio. You can always listen on the I
Heart Radio app as well as on serious XM channel

(24:39):
Lady three. You can get me on Twitter at the
Jonas Knox. But up next, there is something going on
right now in the world of sports that you may
be thinking about getting involved in. Before you do. In
sixty seconds from now, we're gonna tell you why you
need to run as far away from this as humanly possible.
Find out in sixty seconds. Don't go into where first though,

(25:00):
Let's find out what's trending. He's Jonas Knocks. I'm Dan Buyer.
Johnny Ramos is here as well, having some fun in
for Doug. On this July six, the first day really
the NBA season, I'm going to tweet the picture of
the fire that I drove past. Not only can you
see the fire, you can also see my arm and
the dash you know, on the the door as I

(25:22):
was driving, And you'll get about one second of want
a dead or alive in that video? Um, do you
ever drop Backdraft lines? When you see a fire that
you drive seen? Backdraft? The movie Backdraft? You've never seen it?
Oh my god, I haven't seen it. One of the
all time greats Backdraft. I recommend it. Dan, you'll like it.
John Robbos, have you seen it? Parts of it? Oh? Okay,

(25:44):
the end, just the previews? Ryan Music? Have you seen Backdraft?
Not a good God. I'd go to a gascon ask
him if he's seen it. But he's doing clean and
Jerk at the gym right now. Um, so just kidding.

(26:07):
Um movie. The fact of the matter is the All
Star vote in Major League Baseball is that is is
wrapping up today? Final vote? Is that what we've got?
The final vote that's going on here in Major League Baseball.
Today's the final vote and the A L and n

(26:31):
L participants. Now you can go to Twitter, okay, and
that's why we're doing vote ramos. Okay, we're doing hashtag
vote Ramos but you can apparently cast votes by using
social media to get these guys into the All Star Game,
to try to get the guy in. I have to say,
guess I am not a fan of the final vote.
I I don't. The part of the reason is is

(26:54):
i'd say a fifth and Doug talked about this yesterday.
There may be you know, three or four teams that
don't deserve All Stars, but there are guys that are
that are pushed down there. And I think that we
when you've got these five candidates all have All Star
worthy numbers or arguments to get there, but they're put
in a position where it just feels awkward. It feels

(27:14):
weird to me. I mean, Justin Turner should be an
All Star, okay, like he's he's hitting out of this
world this season, and for the efforts that are going on,
and they're great by the by the Dodgers and everybody
to try to support that. The fact is is that
to me, it just it seems like such a social media,
such an internet website hit play by Major League Baseball

(27:38):
that I find no sincerity or anything genuine about this
whole process. I just I've never been a fan of
of how this final vote goes because I think in
the end, instead of having one winner, you end up
having four losers. Yeah. I was trying to come up
with the right term to describe, like the people that
came up with this idea to where you go any
like hashtag and all this stuff, and and like after

(27:59):
doing some real soul searching and like thinking and scanning
and looking, I even brought out at the saurus I
haven't brought out at the source and years dan, and
like just looking for the right term to describe these
people that got this whole thing started. One word just
jumped out to me, and it spoke to me. You
know what that word was, geeks, dweebs, nerds, pencil pushing, dweebs.

(28:23):
Oh my god, it is. It's pathetic. I saw the
Cubs send out a tweet earlier today. This is unbelievable
that the Chicago Cubs from there like social media accounts
sent out a tweetcause they're trying to get Chris brian
in that said, um apologize because they've just been just
hammering it all week long, like they've been gotten the

(28:43):
Red Sox. They teamed up with the Red Sox to
get the Red Sox fans to vote for Chris Bryant
and then like it's pathetic, so they this is this
is the I found here. It is This is from
the Cubs, a team that just won the World Series.
All right, this is this is what they are doing.
This is how pathetic these people are. This is your tweet.
Apologize to your followers now for all the vote KB tweets. Sorry,

(29:07):
We're not sorry. You've got to do three pm Central time.
You nerds get a life, man Like, how about best
guy gets the gig? What is this turning into? Like
this is like like senior prom like who you gonna
vote king for? I don't know who gives a rip.
I'm not going I'm gonna stay with my buddies in

(29:28):
drink till I pass out. What do I care? It did?
It's it's awful to think that what Major League Baseball
is saying is that there are five All Star worthy guys.
But you know what, because of some stupid rule we
made up, um, eight of those ten are not gonna
make it. We're only gonna take two. John Ramos is
a big Dodger fan, which we know. What are your
thoughts on the final vote? Tally because I would be

(29:51):
shocked if Justin Turner doesn't win, considering the backing that
he's gotten from the Dodgers so far. Yeah, I don't
think people are gonna like this. I agree with both
of you. I've been a Dodge Of fans since I
was a kid, and I haven't voted once. I'm sorry
to say I agree with you though. Justin Turner is
an All Star and I think he's going to get in.

(30:12):
But if he didn't get in, he's an All Star anyway,
And my job as a Dodge A fan to me
is what are you gonna do in the playoffs? What
do you do to get to the World Series. That's
why I'm important. I don't worry about the All Star Game.
If he got in, great if he didn't. If I
was one of these guys that got in because of
this dumb Twitter vote, I'd literally refused to go. Either

(30:33):
that or I pretend that I I ripped up my knee,
like I'd make up an injury because I don't want
to go, like like what do I want? I want
to get in because you guys started a hashtag trend
like give me a break. I saw that I saw
the Rangers tweeted out a picture of like Elvis Andrews
to try to get him in, and you know, smiling
Elvis Andrews is having a great season. I know Texas
is having some other issues and trying to catch the Astros.

(30:54):
But the fact is is it just like I felt
sorry that, Like, Okay, Elvis, you gotta stand by locker.
We're gonna take a picture of you to try to
build up this campaign to an All Star. You have
All Star numbers. You're just probably not going to go
to the game because vote Moose is trending on Twitter
right now. And I think I think it's just so
awful and awkward more than anything else, that eight players

(31:15):
Major League Baseball is forcing eight should be All Stars
to not take part in the game. It's kind of
like running it in their face. Not only did you
not get picked, you also lost the vote to not
get in. So we're gonna reaffirm that that's right. Uh.
Moustakas is also one of the guys, right Yeah, I
know his sisters. I'm friends with his sister. You know
what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna text them and say,
guess who I'm not voting for? Him you brought up okay,

(31:35):
because this is nerdy. The Doug Gottlieb Show brought to
you today by True Car. With Truecar, you can find
out what other people in your area paid for the
same car you're looking for new, or use visit Truecar
to enjoy a more confident car buying experience. That is
Dan Buyer, I'm Jonas Knox in for Doug Gottlieb here
Fox Sports Radio. Listen all day long on the I
Heart Radio app as well as on Sirius XM channel

(31:56):
eighty three, and you can get Dan on Twitter at
Dan Buyer on Fox. You can get me at the
Jonas Knox. But up next, it is the return of
one of the great segments in the history of sports
talk radio. Don't go anywhere, We'll have that for you. Next,
The Dug Gottlip Show on Fox Sports Radio rolls on.
He's Jonas Knocks, I'm Dan Buyer, Johnny Ramos here as

(32:18):
well as we're in for Doug today a b k
R edition. Hit us up on Twitter, I'm at Dan
Buyer on Fox. Jonas they can get you at at
the Jonas Knocks and John Ramos your Twitter handle if
they'd like to reach out. One of the easiest Twitter
handles ever atram serials say and again hashtag a vote
Ramos if you want to get John Ramos into the
All Star Game. I put up the video of the

(32:40):
fire that I drove past today on the way to work.
And uh now Bob White is tweeting in pictures of
where the fire is by him. I think there's gonna
be a lot of fires in this. You know, the
neck of the woods really heating up. Attempts gonna be
a hundred degrees in southern California and warmer probably in
other parts as well. I know things are heating up.
And I just found this out. You have your own

(33:00):
Sack here on Fox Sports Radio. So today we're gonna
have fun with Jonas is Sack. Move. Oh my god.
Bring in our good friend David Gascon to give us
an idea of what what you may find in Jonas
Is Sack. Jona, let me go inside of this thing.
Come about quad. I don't know how this happened, but

(33:23):
we got done. And you see it's the John Ramo Show.
It's the John Ramo Show, Ramo Show, this is the
John Romino Sports on Fox Radio. Here I'm gonna make
it Ramo. He says exactly what Suzanne tells him to say.

(33:45):
Hey do you want? What do you want? Milo Bolton?
Come on, everybody, get up, good everybody. We have a
great show for you tonight. It's a thirsty Thursday. Who's
thirsty out there? Tonight? Jonas drinking out of the school
mask Dan. As always, we have a very special musical guest.

(34:08):
You don't want to miss it. Also coming up later
on the show, guys, college football season is right around
the corner, and you know what that means. I'll have
your game by game breakdown to the Sun Belt Conference.
Will make sure to stick around for that. Plus, it's summertime,
which means grilling time. I'll have the top twenty two
spatulas you need for any outdoor cookout. But as always,

(34:29):
I have my sidekick Ryan here with me. Ryan went
is going on. John Good to be back here on
the John Rama Show. A lot of craziness out there
in the league of the NBA free agency, right Ryan,
It's been insane. John, especially Gordon Hayward can't believe he
left the Utah Jazz a little over four minutes. I'm

(34:50):
sure it was a tough decision for him Ryan and
I feel for Hayward, but I can't relate to the
situation a little bit. And all of the hate he's
getting from jazz fans. What do you mean, John Well,
I got a lot of hate from the listeners when
I left b k R in free agency and signed
with a Doug GOTTLEIAP show. Here's one of the most

(35:10):
popular players on the most popular teams in America. That's
Aaron Judge. He joined us next on the John Romo Show.
It's fair Watch Out and he's got a lightsaber. It's
Kenner's Star Wars action figures, each sold separately. I got
you now with R two D two and see three video.
There's even Chewbacca and Hans Solo. Who's down. It's Princess

(35:36):
Lean and Luke Skywalker. Yeah, everybody give it up. It's
jay Z and chew York. You know what I thought
it was interesting is that jay Z has a new album,
but we're playing old songs. Well, that's question Dan. He'll
be performing song show his new album four four four
for you Live later on in tonight's show. Also, we

(35:58):
have a John Romo shokes eclusive guys. Something you won't
hear on any other show in the country radio or
TV or even see on websites or blogs. Golden State Warriors?
Are they the greatest team of all time? All the
answer for you coming up later on. So what's jay Z?
It's four four four? Didn't you steal that from Moses Malone?

(36:20):
Most possibly did. That's all the time we have for tonight. Sorry, Aaron,
We'll have to get to your interview later on. Good
luck in the home run Derby. Also thanks to jay
Z for being tonight's special musical guests and Ryan I'll
catch you on the back side, all right? And dance
vision that was jeez. Well, you take a lot of

(36:41):
the monologue, you know. You know that. Also sometimes the
monologue runs long and you have to end up bumping guests,
So we're not gonna hear any of new new jay
Z's music. A lot of times, a lot of the
digital stuff we get the tracking happens in the monologue,
so that's what you get. The stars know. The metrics
definitely definitely show that. I thought it was interesting that

(37:04):
instead of guests who or what are the chances or
real news fake news that the John Ramo Show just
ended up being in uh in Jonas is sac today
was Jonasis? Blame it on Dave Gascon. He's the one
who picked it. I mean, you know, he reached in there,
he felt around and he pulled the genre. What did
the John Ramo Show feel like, Dave when you were
in that sack to pull it out? Can you are

(37:26):
you able to describe what the John Ramos Show felt like? Moist?
Oh jeez, I thought it was gonna be red hot
because things are heating up with with vote Ramos, I
could say humid. Yeah, great job, guys, a great show. Um.
You can always hear the podcast at Fox Sports Radio
dot Com and iTunes and everywhere else. Um. Um. By

(37:48):
the way, uh, Tom Broca, who's a legendary, you know,
the Tom Broke, the great Tom Broke and all that.
Tom Broca who just reached in and felt my sack.
I was curious. Uh, the real NBA season rolled down.
Nobody's reaching in any sacks unless they're pulling out giant

(38:09):
amounts of money. As NBA free agents are in the
Los Angeles Clippers made a big deal today officially signing
Milos Fodositch. And the reason that I bring this up
is there is we just said the John Ramos Show
and John Ramos hates the Los Angeles Clippers. Okay, your
thoughts John on the signing of Milos Feodosis for the

(38:30):
Clippers today? Can you say playoffs? That's where John Rowley
was the first thing out of his mouth of ripping
the Los Angeles Clippers. I I don't know how could
anybody hate the Clippers. They're just harmless. Yeah, that's how
I get the sense as well. They like they were
bad for so long and all of a sudden they
just they win a couple of seasons, they have a
good four or five years, and then all of a
sudden they're hated. I don't don't if you grew up

(38:51):
a fan of a team, like one of the one
there's always the division rival, but there's always some team
in that division that you go, I don't really hate him.
Like it's like I grew up a Bears fan. I
don't really hate the Lions. Are we just kind of whatever?
Like yeah, the fucking Ears? Like I don't, I don't
hate if the Lions win the division, You're not like,
who is that for you? Dan? NFC West, who is

(39:12):
that for you? Growing up the team you had the
Chargers were indifferent, the Chiefs, Raiders and Broncos. As a
Seahawks fan with the team that I hated more this
next and a great big move for Johnny Ramos as
well a b k Our edition. As we are in
for Doug today having here on Fox Sports and Radio,
I'll tell you what the response on the John Ramo

(39:32):
Show Jonas has just been off the charts. Peter Sanchez tweets,
what a comeback for John Ramos. How about this? Adam
Wassom tweets and it's so nice of you to let myself,
Jonas and Ryan Music ride the coattails of John Ramos
and yes, people pump to hear the John Ramo Show
back on the air. Dan, Guess how many tweets I've gotten?

(39:55):
John did the John Ramos Show. It started it about
fifteen minutes ago. In that fifteen minutes, guess how many
tweets I've gotten regarding the John Ramo Show. I would say, um,
just I'll go low and five none. Oh, Like, that's
how popular this segment is every single time. You may
have actually just got one because John quote retweeted himself

(40:17):
um saying that John Ramo Show made its reappearance on
the b k R edition of The Doug Gotlab Show.
By the way, he left like Doug. Doug's Twitter handle
is that Gotleap Show. So it's really easy, like appearing
next on the got Leap Show. You could just put
it like that. John decided to hashtag the Doug Gottlieb Show,
not put Doug's addressing it whatsoever. Just figured he would

(40:40):
leave it alone. Nothing to see here. I will only
hashtag it. But he did put Fox Sports Radio and
hoping that the network would tweat it. Then he quote
tweeted us, which nobody is going to care about that.
Our names are just there. You still do social media day, John,
what day is that usually done? But it is thirst Thursday.

(41:01):
You got a real thirst. And I will say this.
John doesn't say social media Wednesday was yesterday. He says
it's six days away. Always waking ahead and the next thing.
And as we look ahead to the n b A,
I see doom and despair for small market teams in

(41:21):
the National Basketball Association. The signs are pointing to it.
I don't understand Jonas how people aren't seeing what is
happening before their own eyes. Sure it's great that the
Bucks in the Jazz were able to make the playoffs
and the Jazz making a push and in Oklahoma City
was there on the shoulders of of Russell Westbrook. But

(41:44):
these teams have no chances of competing and winning a title.
And the only reason that Cleveland is in the conversation
is because Lebron James was born in Akron, Okay. If
Lebron James was born and raised in Brooklyn or Washington,
d C. Or Topek, Kansas, there is no way that
he is playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers. And when you

(42:04):
look at all the moves of what could happen in
the NBA and what has been happening, the halves in
the market size are doing more and getting more than
the have nots in terms of market size in the NBA.
And it's clear with Paul George, it's clear with Gordon Hayward,
and now apparently it could be clear with the Bucks
because Adrian Ward Zanowski tweeted out earlier teams already prepping
for Johannessontheta Coopo's free agency in it's just craziness, Like

(42:28):
you don't how you can plan that far ahead when
you don't even know if you're gonna be there, Like
I don't, I don't understand that. Wouldn't it weird you out?
If the first time you your wife Lisa, you guys
went out for the first time, your very first date,
and she looked you in your eyes you just sat
down and said, so where do you want to get married?
You'd be like, can we order first? Like is that okay?

(42:50):
Like what are you talking about? We just met, we
just started hanging out. Like these people are like, hey,
let's think about one now. Why don't you think about
seventeen first? You know, why don't you like have something
to show on your resume so you're still having the
job you have when that time comes. I have to
think they do it or they they think that because
bases well that it's their own job security. My plan

(43:14):
is a four year plan. This is my plan. This here,
dear owner, this is how we get back to respectability.
We're gonna take some lumps, Okay, that's going to happen,
but in the end, when Janice and Teta Kompo is
available in this is going to be our structure. This
is who we can put around them. This is the plan.

(43:35):
I think that's how they sell it. That's try how
they try to bank it for their own job security
of saying this is where my plan extends. And you're right,
the lifespan of an NBA coach and GM are shorter
than other sports, and at least to my knowledge and
seeing the turnover that you get in the NBA. But
I think that if they can sell Sam he Key
probably got longer than even many of us thought he

(43:56):
would in Philadelphia because you always had the plan, you
always had the process to go with it, and finally
Philadelphia was like, all right, we've got to put something
on the floor. So they make a change and now
we see the turnaround actually with with the Colangelos. But
I just think that maybe they sell that plan. That
would be the only way that I think that they
could allow them to be there, to be like, hey,
it's a whole plan, it's four years. That's how I'm

(44:16):
going to be able to stick around. Yeah, no, and
I get the whole We want to tell our fans
that we have an idea, we have something in mind
for the future, and this is why I just trust us.
This is how it go. Like, it doesn't matter how
loyal your fan base is people get impatient, you know.
I remember theo Epstein taken over in Chicago and telling
Cubs fans, listen, we know what we're what we want

(44:38):
to be, but it's gonna take a while to get there,
and we're gonna be pretty bad. And they put up
two of the worst seasons in the history of the organization,
and fans were pitching and moaning, what are you doing?
This is not what we signed up for. This guy's overrated.
He has no clue what he's talking about. But they
had faith in him and they gave him the opportunity
to live out those you know, expect stations that he had,

(45:01):
and he had success ultimately. But there are so many
more examples of people that came in and said, oh,
I've got a plan, and that plan never worked, you know,
Like I'm sure Mitch cup Check had a plan in
l A with the Lakers. We're gonna get high draft
picks and we're gonna make these moves. And lu All
Dang and Timothy Moskoff a couple of veterans on this team,
and guess what, they stunk up the joint almost every

(45:22):
night they were out there. So I just, I mean,
there's no like exact way to do these things. But
I just don't get the whole Yeah, let's just uh,
that's what it is four or five years from now,
that guy is gonna come and join us, Like, what
what makes you think that makes no sense? And I
look at it, I am more worried about the teams
that are holding those players. And that's where I look

(45:43):
at the teams that held the players that we saw leave,
and that would be Gordon Hayward, that would be Paul
George and telling the Pacers that he's leaving. And I
look at look at Salt Lake in the same way
that I look at Indianapolis in the same way that
I look at Milwaukee, in the same way that I
look at Detroit, and really in the same way with
out Lebron James that I look at Cleveland. Who's going
to those cold weather cities in the winter, you know,

(46:05):
to play? I mean when Greg Monroe spurned the Lakers,
and I know that's that's that's Jonas this thing of
how bad things got with Mitch cup check that Greg
Monroe would rather go to Milwaukee then with the Lakers.
But that was the one off that that is that
is rare. The Bucks, for example, built their team via
trades in good draft picks. Minnesota. Okay, for as good

(46:27):
as the Timberwolves are going to be. They get the
Andrew Wiggins deal with Kevin Love, they landed the number
one pick with Karl Anthony Towns, and they swing a
deal with Jimmy Butler. It's not like all of these
guys are wanting to be free agents and going to Minnesota.
That's not the way that it is, and it's not
gonna happen for every single one of those teams. But
I'll tell you what, the Lakers are always in play,
The Knicks are always in play. These bigger market teams

(46:48):
that you're gonna see Golden State. People forget that Golden
State at times is in one of the biggest media
markets in the entire country, with San Francisco, Oakland and
San Jose. So there's a draw there. And I just
think that these smaller market teams are gonna have a
really tough time because it's difficult for them to build
a core roum. And listen, the biggest misnomer about the
Celtics is well, they land big players want to play there.

(47:12):
You know that players they definitely want to play in Boston.
Really think about all the talent the Celtics of ad
over the years. It's all either been drafted or traded
for that goes from the Bird McHale Parish era down
to Pierce Garnet and Ray Allen a trade or a
draft pick. Isaiah Thomas was a trade. The biggest free
agent signing in the history of the Celtics franchise is

(47:34):
Gordon Hayward. That's a fact, and the only reason he's
there is because of a Brad Stevens relationship. So like
having having the ability to land certain players like That's
why I just I don't buy the whole man. The
pat Riley mystique, stop, no state tax, great Weather and
Dwyane Wade was there, which is what got Lebron there

(47:55):
to begin with. I just I think that this is
so much. I know that it's difficult to build these
two teams. I know that that it's hard to try
and build a roster when you're worried about whether a
guy is going to leave in a couple of years.
I get all that, but I don't get the long
term thinking of four or five years from now, that's
the move, Let's grab that guy. What about what's coming

(48:16):
up in the draft? What about what can we do
in the immediate future to give our fans real hope,
not something that's happening years and years from now, but
like real hope, something to where they can go all right,
at least for the time being, there's somebody coming up
in the system. Like That's one of the great things
about like Major League Baseball is you always hear about

(48:37):
you know, if you ever watch a Major League Baseball game,
at least once a game, generally they'll talk about what's
going on in the farm system. You know, what's going on.
You know in the farm system, who's looking good, who's
the player of the week, this and that, Like it
gives them some sort of hope. In the NBA, it's
like if you're not good enough, you're just riding the
bench and then you end up getting dealt for something else.

(48:58):
I just I don't get some of the thinking in
the NBA right now. I really don't. Brian Geltzeiler of
Sirious Sex Saven NBA TV joined us earlier, not necessarily
agreeing with our perception of what could happen to small markets.
The system is built that each team has an equal chance.
And what's happening now is with the advent of super teams.

(49:19):
You know, owners that are willing to pay the tax
and have had some success in the past and half
stars already or in a distinct advantage. But make no
mistake about it, you can be a small market team
and if you're having the right level of success and
can bring free agents, and you can still be a
title contenders. There's one thing the league is never gonna
be able to legislate against it, and that's guys taking

(49:39):
less money to stay together, like what Kevin Durant did
here in Golden State, allowing it to keep it with
I'll allowing them to keep living stim It's fair for
everybody in theory, but it's really not. It's not realistic. Sorry,
the teams don't have an equal chance. There weren't twenty
out other teams that are an equal chance. At Gordon haywork.
The only reason that Jazz were in the conversation was
because he had spent his what seven years there and

(50:01):
they could offer fifty more minion. I mean, that's the
it's the only reason. I mean, the Miami Heat. I
didn't see any connection for Gordon Hayward that you mentioned
the Brad Stevens connection and going to Boston. I didn't
understand any connection except that the Heat may have had
money and then wanted to add to their core of
bringing him there. Yet they were in the conversation as
a team that could be interested in bringing him in.

(50:22):
I just it's it seems yeah, it seems like it's equal.
It seems that everybody under these rules, but it's not
because there are halves and have nots when it comes
to cities and markets that these guys want to play in.
And the draft is really really difficult. And we've talked
about this, and we talked about it before the show.
For every Golden State Draft success in Oklahoma City draft success,

(50:44):
you've got the l A Lakers, You've even got you know,
the Cleveland Cavaliers taking Anthony Bennett. I mean, there are
so many examples around the league of guys who just
couldn't figure out. You need a lot of things to
work your way. But I just don't know how teams
look out and go you know what, the answer would
be auto port or at a hundred million dollars, think

(51:05):
you look at sacramental and in terms of the King's
been in the lottery and the only one we hit
on was de Marcus Cousins. Yeah, it's it's it's it's
not fair and it's not equal as much as people
want to think it is. He is Dan Buyer. I'm
Jonas Knox in for Doug gottliebire Fox Sports Radio. You
can always listen to the show on the I Heart
Radio app as well as on Sirius XM channel eight three.
Want to let you know, we are brought to you

(51:25):
by True Car or True Car. You can find out
what other people in the area paid for the same
car you're looking for and on average save over three
thousand dollars off M s r P. Whether you're looking
for a new or use car. Visit True Car to
enjoy a more confident car buying experience. You can get
Dan on Twitter at Dan Buyer on Fox Up. Next, though,
it is a sneak preview into what you can expect

(51:48):
sports radio to be like for about the next month. Okay,
this is a sneak preview. You have to hear it
now so you're prepared for the future. Don't go anywhere.
We'll have that for you next. He's Jonas knocks. I'm
Dan Buyer. John Ramos is here as well. It is
a p k R audition. Is we are in for
Doug Gottlieb here on the Doug Gottlieb Show on Fox

(52:08):
Sports Radio. First day of the NBA New Year, Clippers
signing Milos Teodo Sitch to a deal. As a lot
of people are excited, at least that are Clipper fans.
Maybe not a lot of people, but some Clipper fans
excited that the euro prospect is not a prospect. He's
thirty coming over to play in the NBA. But most
of the NBA action Jonas has been done over the

(52:29):
last week or so. So what that means is pretty
much until NFL preseason games, because even training camp is slow.
July becomes a pretty slow month in the world of sports. Yeah, listen,
you got it's the grind. You gotta just deal with.
It's why many people take holidays during this time of year.
In sportstock radio, um, try weekend overnights. Try that on

(52:51):
four hours and then you really learn how to build
a show. Dano I will say this that it is
a great time for people to go out to take
family vacations, to drive across the country to go places
to take extended weekends that they wouldn't normally be able
to do. Because even in August, even once you get
to mid August, there are some places around the country
that school has already started. You've got high school football

(53:13):
starting in sports, so you kind of really get into
that mode. So it's it's really now at the end
of free agency and next week's All Star Game. People
think that that's the low point. Actually think it's after that,
like really after um maybe maybe even for me as
a golf fan, I look forward to the Open Championship,
but I think it's maybe right after the All Star
Game because now you've got those couple of days off

(53:33):
and then you go into it and there's not much
buzz still because you've got the All Star Game in
the rear view mirror. And so anyway, sports fans, sports
people are trying to absorb as much content, and people
like us in sports talk and sports writers and people
on TV try to come up with content to entertain everyone.
And that led us to your idea of what really

(53:53):
kind of bothers you at this time of year. I
just I'm not a big fan of lazy people. Dan
in general, and some of this is not the fault
of writers. It's people telling them they've got to come
up with something or do this because it generates clicks
or whatever the case may be. But we are officially, well,
i'd probably say next week is official, but officially on

(54:15):
the brink of list season in sports talk radio, where
everybody's got a list and everybody's reading it off because
it'll fill a couple of segments like that is it is.
It's ridiculous. Some of the lists that are put together
are absurd, and if they're gonna do it, we may

(54:35):
as well put together our list. So Dan, what do
you say? We give them our top ten list of
top sports lists that we've seen us. All right, well,
can I start this out? Okay, because I've got a
list that I can guarantee no one cares for. Okay,

(54:58):
And so the first list I guess this would be ten. Okay,
So this is ten ten on our top ten worst
lists of the off season. Ten. NFL dot Com unveils
the top thirty one safeties of all time. It's funny

(55:20):
that this list came out because just the other day
I hadn't talked to my friend in about a year,
and when we were catching up, we started to talk
about who our favorite all time safeties. You know nothing
about family or friends or what we've been doing with work.
We were trying to figure out who was your favorite
all time safety from the old a f C. West.

(55:41):
So NFL dot com has the top thirty one safeties
of all time. Yes, rank them, and I'll tell you
what social media was a buzzing for. Who was ranked
too high and too low? It's water cooler talk, Dan,
Come on, that'll that'll generate the buzz around the water
cooler because man, I really got to see whether or
not my favorite safety crack crack the top twenty eight.

(56:02):
Please tell me my favorite safety crack the top. Well,
if it is Ken Houston, who I think it is,
you're right because he's yeah, yeah, of the Washington Redskins.
Yeah that is listen sports talk radio list. There's nothing
better than the list of thirty was the thirty two safeties?
Da sorry, yeah, we couldn't even do it. The number

(56:25):
of the teams in the NFL. We had to make
this just a random number of thirty one safe By
the way, just had a curiosity who was thirty one
number thirty one on the list was Leroy Butler, Green
Bay Packers. I guess we know who did it, sweet, Sweet,
And if you think Leroy Butler was robbed on the

(56:45):
Greatest Safety hashtag vote LB all right, Dan number nine
on the top ten sports lists that we've seen, how
about this one? The top fifteen you FC fighters to
never win a championship belt? All right? Yeah, baby, come on,

(57:06):
because literally nothing nothing screams legend like a guy who
never won a belt. Like that's what I want to
hear about. I want to hear who hasn't had success
and where they ranked all times in the top fifteen rankings.
That's what I want to I like that one because
it doesn't What it does is it attracts the general audience,
not just the people who watch the UFC fight starting

(57:28):
at two pm on a Saturday. Yeah, that's a general
you know, bringing everybody grade a grade, you know, especially
you know when some of the guys on the list
um one intern belts, which are considered championship belts. But
why do research? Why research any that? Let's just come
up with the list top fifteen. Ye I wonder who
was on the outside looking in on Man Talk about yeah,

(57:48):
that bubble being burst. It was like, you know, the
top twenty five rankings in college football. If your team
wasn't on there, well they better have made the ALSU
list to also receiving votes. Got this because if the
it didn't happen that, I'm pissed, thank you. Moving on
to Okay, so this is eight on our top ten

(58:09):
worst lists, a list that we have gotten so far
by the who's the woman doing the countdown? Number eight?
Top ten All Star snubs? Oh oh man, I'll tell
you who they are. The ten guys were supposed to
be freaking voting for. I don't need a list. I

(58:31):
find out the other ten. You're already jamming it down
our throats. If it's not those ten guys, okay, then
why are we even doing a vote? It seems pretty
simple to me. I don't know John is saying John
beyond the glassing, Well, Alex would should be and all
that curse on the spot. There there, there's ten guys

(58:53):
were voting for for some stupid reason. Those are your
All Star snubs. I don't need a list of the
top ten to tell they are. Well. I got one
even worse than that, Dan and uh everybody be be
ready for this because this is a lot. Okay, there
was a lot in this. Yeah. Seven the top forty

(59:14):
workout warriors in college football. Al Right, work it out.
Dan asked me when is the last time I went
to watch a college football player workout? Asking Jonas, when
was the last time you went to watch a college
football player workout? That would be never, Dan, that would
be never because I've got no interest in watching the
middle linebacker from Penn State do squats? Is David gascont available?

(59:42):
Is David Gascon available? David Gascon our update anchor. If
he was able to watch a lifting portion of the
of a workout, where would you want to Would you
know what would it be? Would it be bench press
or squats? Me personally? Um? Me personally? Or or Dave

(01:00:02):
gascony me personally? Um? Now do I have to spot them? No,
it's just pure viewing plays. I'll still go to squats. Okay,
all right, David gascon, If you could watch a college
football player work out, what exercises would you like them
to do? Para clean is one of them? And yeah, okay, alright,

(01:00:27):
I would also like to see at the p D
portion the portion would be fun to watch as well too.
You know what, he can't guard anybody, but i'll tell
you what he did great in the forty R death.
You know, like, yeah, great, our dbs are awful. UM
final one for this Segments six. This one actually maybe
a little dated, but it happened a couple of weeks ago.

(01:00:51):
UM Top twelve Surprises from the NHL Protected List. So
this was when they had the expansion draft. Okay, there
was a list of top twelve surprises on who teams
protected and who they did not protect. Okay, and I'll
tell you what boy was in a surprise When the
Sabers exposed William Carrier, Man, I couldn't sleep, neither could Lisa.

(01:01:17):
I mean it was it was. I mean seriously, what
were they thinking? And if you think that's bad, you
should hear the other eleven surprises you got from the
NHL Protected lists. Yeah, and William Carry especially his dad Mark,
who played for the Bears, Mark Carrier. Is it not
Alwa's white? Sorry? I remember John Ramos came in that

(01:01:38):
day and he was like, stupid Islanders protecting five defensemen.
He was so mad, he was so mad about that. Yes,
the Top twelve surprises from the NHL Protected list. There
they're van. Just cut out to the van just said
that's that's a wrap. They stopped. They punch out immediately.
That'll wrap things up here on the tape. He is

(01:02:02):
Dan Buyer, I'm Jonas Knox and Forgottli Beer Fox Sports Radio.
You can get us on I Heart Radio on the
i Heart Radio app. You can also listen on Sirius
XM channel eight three, and you can get me on
Twitter at the Jonas Knox up next though, it is
the finale, the final portion of what you can expect

(01:02:22):
in sports talk radio over the next month or so.
Don't go anywhere. It's a sneak preview. It's a fair warning.
We have thrown up the flares. Be ready to go
sixty seconds from now. Don't go anywhere. First, though, let's
find out what's trending. He's Jonas Knox, That's Johnny Ramos.
I'm Dan Buyer or in for Doug Today a b
KR edition, and we're at the chair. We're at the

(01:02:44):
midway point of our top ten lists of worse lists
that we've gotten so far in the summer, the summer
of sen By the way, Today's National Fried Chicken Day.
How about that? I saw that, So maybe uh dive
into some fried can after the show today? Can we
get a National Gen Ramos Day? Oh yeah, it's coming up.

(01:03:05):
It's we're gonna celebrate it this Saturday. Yeah, I actually
I hear that it's gonna be every February. We've got
we've got the top ten worst top ten lists, and
we are through five so far. So we had just
just a recap. Okay, top thirty one safeties of all time? John,
who was your number one safety of all time in

(01:03:26):
the NFL. Um, I'll get back to you all right,
thank you very much. Um. We also had uh the
top fifteen UFC fighters to never win a championship belt.
Then number eight was top ten Major League Baseball All
Star Snubs, Top forty workout warriors in college football that
came in at number seven, and at number six, Top

(01:03:47):
twelve surprises from the NHL Protected List. So that means
you're up at number five of the top five lists
of the worst list. This is a timely thing, Dan,
we can't ignore what just took place. And I'm not
talking about National Bikini Day. I'm talking about fourth of July.
Mike Frances. Where are we at on the list? Okay,

(01:04:08):
at number five, the top ten fourth of July related
sports names. You know, Freddie Freeman, Doug Free, World be Free,
just the most ridiculous excuse to get people to click

(01:04:29):
ten times and guess what? I fall for it every
effing time I click all the way through. What about
professional governed Diggy Pride? Yes, from way back in the day,
he definitely would make it on our Independence Day special.
Moving on to oh wow, this is said, we got
a sponsor for this? Uh, it's True Car. With True Car,
you can find out what other people in your area

(01:04:50):
paid for the same car you're looking for, new or used.
Visit True Car to enjoy a more confident car buying experience.
We all love the NFL. Okay, we we do. We
can't wait for training camps to come. But why not
look back and rank the top ten gutsiest calls, the
guts to make that decision? Who really put it on

(01:05:13):
the line, the gutsiest calls? Okay, you want to know
all the greatest thing about this? Okay, the Seahawks throwing
on on the one yard line wasn't even number one. Okay,
the Super Bowl is on the line and they decided
to throw it and it burned him. And somehow that
didn't even make number one on the top ten Gutsiest
call list. And my my favorite is, uh so, let

(01:05:36):
me get this straight. It's guts see if it works,
but it's dumb if it doesn't work. So that's how
we determine whether or not that was a guts he
call was whether or not it worked. Now, some of
the stuff that works is dumb, you know, like one
of the things Bill Belichick not calling a time out
in that situation, Like everybody forgets about that. That Bill
Belichick just sat on his time house to see it.

(01:05:58):
If if the Seattle scores, what are we saying about Belichick?
What do you do? But no, what brilliant job by
Bill Belichick? What a bunch of craft and GUTSI has calls?
The Florida player whooped his pants did not make the
top ten list, So just say, you know, that was
college football, so that did not make that made the
NFL top ten. Definitely hit the skids for sure, sure?

(01:06:21):
Did um? All? Right? Next up? Whatever we on I
always lose track? Are you ready for this? Yes? The
Top two John Ramo Show episodes Yeah, that's right. John
cracks the top three, the top two John Ramo Show episodes.
My personal favorite is that one that he did. I

(01:06:45):
don't know about you, Dan. I thought his great interview
when he dove deep into the you know, entertaining and
moving subjects, that that was really that's where he really
like booked me in. But he also then leaves me
wanting more. Yeah, that's true, and again he doesn't. Yeah,
and it's it's amazing what John that like because you're
always waiting for John to drop the hammer in one

(01:07:06):
of his episodes and he never quite does so, like
it's never that good, but you always want to come
back for more. I don't know what it is. That's
what Johnny Ramos does. I know a guy on this
staff as well that has dropped the hammer and some
volleyball matches with some big old spikes. That's our executive producer,
Ryan Music. So Ryan, I am going to apologize to

(01:07:27):
you for what is number two. The Riverside Press Enterprise
recently gave us their top ten list of Area all
time female volleyball players. There what he top ten lists

(01:07:48):
all time Area only of the female volleyball players. Yeah,
I don't think it was a ten part series where
you had to keep on buying the next day's edition.
It was just all one ranking. But the Riverside Press
Enterprise recently gave us the top ten list of the
top ten all time female volleyball players from that area. Okay,

(01:08:08):
I thought it was an ESPN inside. I think we
had to pay a subscription for that. Sure, Sorry, No
that is not the case, Ryan, Who is your favorite
all time female volleyball player from the Riverside area? Just
so many options, Dan Buyer, Jon Smith, I'm gonna have
to go with Yeah, there it is. Yeah? Is that

(01:08:33):
cartch Kara? I wasn't he a volleyball player years ago?
He was probably not from Riverside though I don't believe so,
and not a woman, so that also, I don't think
would would include him in this No, he's not included
on this list, but maybe maybe number one is top
ten area volleyball players male all time. By the way,

(01:08:54):
Sue wood Straw the top two. Yeah? Where did that?
Where did Sue wood Straw fall on the numeral? Something
that Wendy Rush in her run from three would have
put her on the top spot, but uh so, suem
me Sue Wood number one on the list, and that
list number two on our list of worst lists of

(01:09:15):
the summer. Here we go number one. Quickly, before you
get to number one, can I give an honorable mention? Uh?
Top ten ships that can enter the Dagga Bas system.
Top ten ships that can enter the Dagga Bas system?
Are you gonna dump that? John? I don't even know. Well,
his last name is Gascon Dagga Ba, So I don't
know why. That's what the issue is here? Jesus John,

(01:09:38):
By the way, what is it Dagabar? It's there, It's
from haf It's close to half but not quite there.
Is is where the rebels had their base and the empire.
Dagaby is where Yoda left to go hang out to
get away from the Sith when they attack. Is that
the return of the Sith? Didn't we do that? Here?

(01:10:03):
I told John? I told John on Tuesday, maybe the
July fourth three? With you ready for number one? Day,
let's here at number one, worst list of them all? Right?
Here we go. Well, the way the NFL really was
was prevalent in this. As much as we love it,
we sure hate their lists. Are you ready for this? Yes? All? Right,
can we get a drum roll? Please? One? One, one, one?

(01:10:30):
The top three professional sports teams in the state of Oklahoma.
All right, and then here's here's where things get really hard,
because who's two and three? Who? Do we got it? Two?
Or three? Dano three? We got it, Mike, Yeah, we

(01:10:52):
we understand. Wow, what a list? What a list. I
would jump right to the end to find out who
was number one. I would I would skip, I would
change the U R L, just alter it and go
right to the end. Yeah, that's all you do it? Yeah,
and uh, it's it's it's difficult. I mean they're gonna
be I mean for hours they're gonna be looking at
this stuff trying to figure out who's two and three
on the top sports professional sports team in the state

(01:11:13):
of Here comes John Ramos quickly, before we go, You're
very fast. Before we go, I just want to give out.
I'm gonna get my phone number on the air. I
just want to do right now, go ahead, what is
the critics? Nine seven three? Oh? Pulling into Timmy Butler.

(01:11:38):
Very good for John Robins there. I feel so bad
for whoever has that phone number. Hit us up on Twitter.
You can get John Ramos and j has Ramos zero six.
He can get Jonas at the Jonas Knox and I
have been by your on Fox. I have seen someone
laugh is hard at their own joke because John Romis

(01:11:58):
is right now, Johnny and knocked it out of the park.
I'll be honest. But let's go behind the courtier. We're
already out here. We already went to Um, how long
ago did you actually think? How long ago did you
actually think of that joke? Right before the first secon started?
Right right there? Um? Excuse me, Mike, what is Jenny's

(01:12:22):
phone number? Jenny's phone number to see six seven five
three o nine. Alright, alright, perfect, yeah, perfect? Maybe maybe
you're missing the never sit there? Uh, Dan by Jonas

(01:12:46):
knocks in for Doug gott leevire Fox Sports Radio. By
the way, you can listen to the show in the
i R Radio app and serious x M channel. What
channel is a serious x on him on? Mike PRINCESSA
eight three told you and uh, and by the way,
you can get John Ramos on Twitter at js Ramo
zero six up next though, that was ridiculous. We're never

(01:13:11):
gonna be asked back. It's over. It is over. Water
is in the boat. We have hit the glacier and
we are all going down Up next, we do have
some interesting information that was passed along earlier today on
Fox Sports Radio. Don't go anywhere. It might have something
to do with you. That's next year on FSR. This

(01:13:32):
is the Doug Gottlieb Show on Fox Sports Radio. Beca
our addition, he's Jonas Knocks. I'm Dan Buyer. That's John
Ramos getting the numbers going here on Fox Sports Radio.
Hit us up on Twitter, I'm at Dan Buyer. On Fox.
You can get Jonas at the Jonas Knox. You can
get John on Twitter at js Ramo zero six. You

(01:13:55):
can also phone in eight seven seven nine one on
Fox or that's eight seven seven nine nine six six
three seven. No, No, it's not, yes, there it is, Okay,
there it is. That's the one. That's the number that

(01:14:16):
you can call to get in on the conversation. Here
on Fox Sports Radio, we are in for Doug Gottlieb today.
Doug in Israel opening ceremonies tonight for the mccaby mccaby
Games that he is taking parts in, and so good
luck to Doug and Team USA in that contest. Doug
on the show likes to check in what others not

(01:14:36):
only on the network, but also on the TV side
of things maybe talking about And so today we and
now play this game? Yes, what does the Fox say?
Earlier today on the Colin Cowherd Show on The Herd
here on Fox Sports Radio talking some NFL in the
Dallas Cowboys. Here was Colin earlier today here Cowboy Damien

(01:15:00):
Wilson arrested for assault with a deadly weapon. He is
the fourth Cowboy to be suspended or arrested in and
the Cowboys should have moved on from Tony Romo and
Dak Prescott should be the starting quarterback. He was terrific
and uh he is a young man with an incredible future.

(01:15:21):
But does it feel a little bit like since Tony
Romo left, is it a coincidence the the wheels are
coming off with the player behavior. You know, Tony Romo
maybe didn't achieve what you thought he should have. And
Tony Romo didn't have a great playoff record, But Tony
Romo was a grown up and he had value last

(01:15:44):
year even on the bench helping out young, talented Dak Prescott,
and he had value in this locker room stabilizing it.
I'm not saying Tony Romo didn't have a presence in
the locker room. I just think that you can't equate
one thing to another, and that being the Tony Romo absence.

(01:16:04):
When Chandler Jones was busted for what doing synthetic marijuana
crash I thought he had gotten abducted by aliens? Was
that Tom Brady's fault. Tom Brady was in the locker room,
So you can't put it on the quarterback of him
being the one to straighten everything out in the locker room.
And you can't put this on the Cowboys saying that
they made a bad move by letting Tony Romo go

(01:16:26):
and allowing Dak Prescott to Can you continue to be
their quarterback in the future just because Damian Wilson does
something and now faces assault with the deadly weapon charges there,
you can't compare the two. I just don't think that's fair.
I don't think that there's any situation where you can
It wasn't Tony Romo the starting quarterback when h Greg
Hardy was signed. When was it Joseph Randall stole cologne

(01:16:48):
and underwear from a mall? Like what was me on
that team as well too. I so Tony Romo has
got nothing to do with it. I just I'm fascinated
to see the Cowboys this upcoming season because I think
it's gonna be a fall from grace. And I'll be
honest with you right now. If you were to ask me,
if there's a bet you can make, do the Cowboys
not make the playoffs? I'd ham or no. Do you
think because of their schedule or can't go well? Schedule also,

(01:17:13):
Dak Prescott. I think schedule one thing. Also Dak Prescott.
Second time, it's like you know, you see a picture
the second time through in the order they say in baseball,
you have a better idea of what they are. I
think he no longer is going to surprise anybody this season. Um,
Jason Garrett's never had a track record of being a
guy who can deliver year in and year out, like

(01:17:34):
a couple of years in a row as a head coach,
And I just I look at that team and I
go schedule wise, Dak Prescott, Prescott in year two. And
also you can make a case that every team in
that division got better outside of maybe Washington, who had
a really weird offseason, Philadelphia added weapons, that Giants added
weapons as well too. And if you're going to finish

(01:17:56):
third in the NFC East, what other playoffs spots were
main Like, what else is available to you? I know
what's happened before, But I just think, you know law
of averages. I see Dallas having a big drop off
this year. That division was stronger than maybe the other
divisions when you had an eleven win team and a
nine win team and a seven win team under Dallas
which went thirteen and three last year. And so the

(01:18:18):
the improvements just a little bit by a Giant's team
or a Washington team or an Eagle team wouldn't move
them up. And you'd have to think that at least somewhat.
I don't think that this Cowboy team is built for
thirteen wins. I agree with you in the sense of
I think they're going to take a step back the season. Well,
it's like this. A couple of years ago they had
they were four and twelve team. Last year they were
a thirteen and three, So we all acknowledge they're really

(01:18:40):
not a thirteen win team. But they're also not a
four win team as well too, So they're probably somewhere
in the middle nine wins that catch you in the playoffs.
Gonna be tough to stop that running game, though, which
should keep on rolling even without those free agent losses.
Boom baby, yes, seven seven, All right, let's continue rolling.

(01:19:01):
And Johnny Ramos is here as well. It is a
b k our audition. I keep saying it. It's the
first day of the new NBA year, Jonas the Brewers
are taking it to the Cubs. Maybe it's the first
day of the rest of the season for a Brewers
push to an nl Central crown. I hope. So the
Cubs are atrocious, they stink. I hope they don't make
that lifelong comes Van. It's not got. We're gonna talk

(01:19:26):
baseball in about twenty minutes, but NBA remains on our mind.
NBA free agency now really official, as teams can make
their signings today. The other part of its summer league
is going on, and John Ramos has an update from
Salt Lake City. Guys, the teams are really exposing themselves
during the summer league in Utah, and uh, we don't
know what's gonna happen, but we do know one thing.

(01:19:48):
Some teams are better and some teams are not so interesting.
You can also just look up that the Jazz are
beating the Sixers by seven and the second quarter. Something
jumped out to John said that the teams are really
exposing themselves. Um, I was not aware that Pee Wee
Herman received an invite to the Summer League. I thought
it was odd they were doing skins versus skins. Yeah,

(01:20:09):
Summer League. Let's go live to Kelen Winslow Jr. In
a Boston Market parking lot. My biggest issue today was
this woad bomb bomb. I love what Adrian ward Zanowski does.
He's the best in the business of breaking news. I
just hate the hashtag of the phrase would bomb. It's

(01:20:31):
another woad bomb. It got old really quick. Anyway, he
said this today, and I'm and I'm summarizing that teams
are starting to plan for Jannison Teta compost free agency
in one So it's not even looking ahead to Paul
George leaving Oklahoma City, which we expect in the summer,
or Lebron James maybe leaving Cleveland after next season. No,

(01:20:51):
we're already looking ahead four years from now. His teams
try to plan. And my issue was this, I just
don't think that the NBA set up for these small
markets to succeed. And while Brian Brian gets uh get
Sailer came out of the show earlier with us. I
can say antea COOPO, but I can't say gult Sailer.
The fact is is small markets don't have the margin

(01:21:11):
of error. Brian thinks that the system is set up
where everybody has an equal chance, and that's not it.
That's that's not that these small markets don't have the
opportunities to bring in guys. Some of these non marquee markets,
it just happens to be a lot of the northern
Midwestern cold cities that you're gonna get in the winter,
like a Detroit, Milwaukee, Cleveland, Indianapolis, in Salt Lake City.

(01:21:33):
They don't have the same cash as bringing in a
Los Angeles or a Miami, or bringing those free agents
in even Houston, for that matter, the Bay Area. They
don't have the same lures as those cities teams do.
And that's why it's not a level playing field. And now,
if all these teams are are pointing, it's not the
fact Jonas that Janice is is one of the top
young stars. It's that Janice is on one of the

(01:21:56):
teams that they feel that he could be willing to
leave to join a new team when he becomes a
free agent. Well, and that's why you look at what
Oklahoma City did. So Oklahoma City goes out and they
trade away a couple of you know, Demonta Sabonis and
Victor Oladipa, and they bring in Paul George, and a
lot of people are focusing in on Wow, I mean,
unbelievable stuff there by Sam Presty, he did it again, folks. Sam, oh,

(01:22:18):
he just continues to deliver. Let's really look at that
deal for what it is. Sam Presty took on a
guy who he's almost positive won't resign there just so
that he can show the other guy that he's willing
to take risks, I hope you don't leave my small
market again. Like, I mean, let's think about that. Like
he's having to go above and beyond, probably against everything

(01:22:42):
he believes in, just to impress the guy that's already
there and make him want to sign long term. It's crazy.
The fact is is that if any of the star players,
if Paul George was on the Lakers right now, and
he could be a free agent next year. We aren't
having the conversation that Paul George may leave the Lakers. Okay,
that's not happening. It's that conversation is if Russell Westbrook

(01:23:06):
is on the Lakers right now, we aren't having the
conversation that Russell Westbrook may opt out and see what
else is there that wouldn't happen. They would stay on
that team. They would stay on those teams. And the
only reason why Cleveland is having successes because Lebron was
born in Akron and that's where he was from. That's
where he grew up. If he wasn't, the Camps would
be nowhere. They'd be in the same boat as as

(01:23:26):
Detroit and Milwaukee and Salt Lake City in Indianapolis would
be in the same exact place. But it just it
it appears that these small markets are thriving in the NBA,
when really they're behind the eight ball and beyond the
other teams that the other markets that really really have
an advantage over there. If Kyrie Irving wasn't a member
of the Cleveland Cavaliers, you think Lebron goes back there,
Not a not a shot in hell, No chance he

(01:23:49):
went back there because they happened to land and and
we had a great pick, and they had Kyrie Irving,
a young developing superstar potentially point guard there in Cleveland's
the only reason Lebron went back. You can say whatever
you want about always his ties there to Cleveland. Even
talked about it his mom, his wife didn't want him
to go back, not like unless Kyrie Irving is there

(01:24:10):
and there's some talent there on that roster that he
thinks he can win with, he doesn't go back. And
and then the love trade, you know, I mean, you
know all all of that, Like let's let's you can't
look at a couple of one off examples and say, whoa,
what about Cleveland? What about you know, that's just that's
luck of the draw. Like you you had a generational

(01:24:33):
type talent who grew up in near the area and
he has some loyalty there, but he also saw that
there was some talent there. You can't look at Oklahoma
City and say what do you mean Russell what? No,
those guys were drafted there and ps Russell Westbrook and
Kevin Durant were drafted by Seattle like Oklahoma City didn't
even you didn't even draft them. They inherited them from Seattle.

(01:24:57):
So people try and give examples of all, you know,
Stockton and Malone, that was a different era, that was
a different time, Like you can't. It's always going to
be big market teams that are going to have more
success than others, Like you know, Gordon Hayward going to Boston. Yeah,
you know, the Brad Steven stuff is the biggest part
of it. But I do think, you know, going to

(01:25:19):
Boston having a little bit of that mystique help. I
just don't. I don't. I don't buy this whole. It's
got to be why does Shaquille O'Neill leave Orlando to
go to the Lakers when all the no state tax
and everything applied in Orlando at the time, and that
was a young team that looked like they were closer
to contention and had a lot of talent on that team,
more so than the Lakers did. Why did shack oed

(01:25:40):
l a bigger market more opportunities. It's a no brainer,
and that's what small market teams are going to be
up against. If these players that are on these bigger
teams already we're not talking about them leaving, but because
they are on smaller teams. Heck, we made my whole
theme throughout this year's free agency jonas with Paul George
and Gordon Hayward specifically, even though Georgia wasn't a free agent,
talking about guys who aren't in the top ten of

(01:26:02):
the best players in the league. We're making a big
deal about it. It's crazy to even think about that.
We mentioned the Cleveland Cavaliers and the issues that they
have um in the future that Lebron James may or
may not have in Cleveland in the near future. Cavaliers
have got to find a general manager because they don't
have one. And earlier this week here on Fox Sports Radio.
It was on Monday where I was filling in for

(01:26:23):
the Steve Gorman Show Steve Gorman Sports here on Fox
Sports Radio with Rob Parker and Rob of course on
Fox Sports One and here on FS are talked about
what he heard about Chauncey Billups and why Chauncey Billups
wasn't going to be the general manager in Cleveland. This
from earlier this week from our friend Rob Parker. I
did a little digging and damn, my c wpfs. You

(01:26:44):
know what those are no close warm personal friends. They
tell me that Chauncey got a low ball big time
on the offer, and basically Chauncey could stay put at
ESPN doing his analysts work and make more more money
than being a GM of the Cleveland Cavalier. That story

(01:27:06):
came out earlier this week, and then now in the
past twelve hours, maybe fourteen to sixteen hours, there's an
ESPN report that also said that's exactly what happened with
the Cleveland Cavaliers lowballing Chauncey Billups with an offer that
was about one point five million dollars per year to
be the the GM of the Cleveland Cavaliers. It's weird
that ESPN would report that they pay their analysts more

(01:27:29):
than you know, a team would be willing to pay
him as a general manager. Almost like, hey, we're not
in any trouble over here. All good here looking at
how much our guys make. No. I mean, you know,
understanding world's collide. Your world and the world of a
cheap owner who's tired of shelling out a bunch of
money because of the luxury tax collided and made this
story what it was. Yeah, Rob Parker said it days

(01:27:50):
ago that he talked to people, they got a low
ball offer. Listen, we we spoke about it last time
we were filling in here for Doug Gottleib on Fox
Sports Radio. It just comes down to this, like you
just wants your team back eventually, you know, like you
like Dan Gilbert just wants his team back. Like he
just he's tired of paying all this money just to

(01:28:12):
come up short in the NBA Finals. And if he
if he thinks or he has a feeling that Lebron's
gonna bolt after next year anyways, why is he going
to make a bunch of moves to try and please
him for one year? It didn't And you're right, and
you're right about that about the thinking of leaving, And
if Dan Gilbert really I think wanted Lebron or wanted
didn't want his team back, it's really easy to pay

(01:28:33):
David Griffin three million dollars more than apparently what they
wanted to pay him. Okay, three million dollars was I
think what Gilbert were what Griffin was making, and they
Griffin reportedly wanted six to seven. Dan Gilbert didn't want
to pay pay it. Well, what is what is awful
about this? And what's really sneaky and and nobody knows
really what went on between Lebron James and Dan Gilbert

(01:28:54):
and how things went down, whether it be in the
return or whether it be the first time Lebron left Jonas.
But now we end up taking information that we see
from the outside. Now it starts to really look at
like Dan Gilbert is just a bad businessman in the
eyes of some because to have the name of Chauncey
Billups come up there and we know Dan Gilbert's a
Detroit guy, that's where his base is, and you're thinking, oh,

(01:29:17):
let's bring in a Pistons great, a guy that he
had a relationship with, bring him into Cleveland to take
things over. The low ball that Rob was talking about
was one point five million dollars. The best offer Cleveland
offered Chauncey Billups was two million. And that puts Chauncey
Billups in such an awkward situation because who wouldn't want

(01:29:37):
to be a general manager in the NBA, Okay, especially
someone with no experience in running a front office. But
if somebody said, hey, we want you to come and
run the team, maybe to be something interested for or
it would be something interested in that but the money
wasn't even close to enough to to get him to
think about it, and Jonas wasn't even enough to have
him feel respected about it. Four million dollars is about

(01:29:59):
the number that would want for a GM, and Dan
Gilbert lowballed him completely, including a final offer that wasn't
what that was half of what maybe an average GM
would make business. He's never done the gig before. I mean,
I can understand, and I guarantee that was part of
Dan Gilbert's discussion with him. Well, you know you've got
no prior experience, so let's let's start it out with this.
So I I understand it from that regard, and I

(01:30:22):
just I really think that Dan Gilbert is slowly trying
to take control of his team back. And this is
another move. I just don't like them bringing Chauncey billips
name into it. And now it's just like all of
a sudden, Chauncey Billips is then brought in in in
a spot where there wasn't experience, and all of a sudden,
now Chauncey Billips's name is thrown around for a couple
of weeks. Then we find out that all the Cavaliers

(01:30:42):
thought of him was one point five even without the experience,
at least the name brand and who Chauncey Billips is
and what he accomplished in the NBA and how other
players around the league respect him. I think it's an
awful move by Dan Gilbert to lowball him that much.
Heck to heck with him and Lebron's relationship, what are
other people gonna think later on or they move on?

(01:31:03):
If if the Cavaliers have to move on without Lebron James,
if they're low bowing, bawling Chauncey Billups, who's gonna want
to pay to play in that city once he gets
his team back. Do you buy Chauncey Billips's claim he
said that he didn't have a conversation with Lebron James
about Lebron's future during the process. He just felt it
wasn't the right time right now. Do you buy that?
Because I think it's a bunch of bms. I think

(01:31:24):
he did have a conversation with Lebron, and hey, how
do we know Lebron James isn't also behind floating out
the Hey look how cheap my owner is card? You
know Lebron doesn't want to doesn't want to wear it
like he wore it last time. I didn't think he
would regardless. But you know, if you can, if you
can put some of the blame as to why I'm
leaving this time, I'm leaving you this time. And here's

(01:31:44):
another example of why, then maybe that's part of it
as well too. It's just it's always drama there. Those
two guys clearly don't like each other. They're just kind
of going through the motions and you're seeing it play
out in front of our eyes. I will I have
to correct myself on one thing. David Griffin made about
two million dollars lest year, not three mintly in but
still there's a difference between about four million dollars, and
so he would be paying Chauncey Billups like their top

(01:32:06):
offer was. What about David Griffin was making last year.
It's just it's just I think it's just a bad
look all around for Dan Gilbert, Dan Buyer Jonas knocks

touching out a lot of things NBA free agency, the

(01:33:09):
top ten Worst, Top ten list, top ten list of
the top ten worst list. Was that what I think?
That's the way it goes a little bit earlier, we
also delve in on the Major League Baseball fan vote.
Is the final vote for the All Star Game still
up for grabs as two spots one on the A
L and one on the NL can be voted on
by many of the deadline passed on social media, so
we should find out soon. In the final vote winners

(01:33:31):
joining us to talk about the final vote, All Star
Game and all that is Major League Baseball. You can
hear him on Sirius XM breaking the sport down Melan
and then joins us here on FSR. Hey Mouth, good
to talk to you. Hey guys, how are you doing?
So we are doing well? What is your opinion of
the final vote process? That we have got four Major
League Baseball Because we discussed this earlier in our general consensus.

(01:33:53):
I don't want to speak totally for jonas is You've
got ten guys here, all who are All Stars, and
eight of a are going to be left out in
the cold. I'm not a fan of it. Are you
a fan of this final vote? It's marketing, gun amok
in a in a social media world, that's what it is.
I mean, it's using Twitter and Facebook and all that,

(01:34:13):
you know, all the various media social media sites to
promote to promote it. It's it's uh, you know, it's new.
So I'm a little old fashioned, so I think it's
a little strange. But Uh. Again, it's more about marketing,
I think than anything. A lot of these irving candidates,
but yet there's still you know, thirty two players on

(01:34:33):
a roster. That's a lot. But to me, it's more
about marketing. It just shows how they do it. Um No,
what bothers you more when the home field used to
be determined in the All Star game, or the fact
that we've got Twitter hashtags determining All Star ballots and
everything going on. You guys, get you guys, ask good questions.
I think it's a marketing at the home field didn't

(01:34:55):
bother me much of the World Series. But the thing
is it didn't change the game at all, and managers
still managed the way they manage a normal exhibition game.
Everybody got into the game. It was more like a
little league you know, like a little league game where
everybody got to play. And I don't think the home
field advantage had that much that much impact on how
managers managed. So uh, but you know, the final vote

(01:35:19):
is created a lot of interest, and so it's not
all that. It's not all bad to stay the least. Again,
marketing can can drive anybody, not no matter if it's
baseball or any other thing, but it's created a lot
of interest and a lot of discussion. I'll say that
mel Anson and joining us here on Fox Sports Radio
talking Major League Baseball. I've got one more at least
on the All Star festivities. Does this home run derby

(01:35:42):
just have um a huge buzz to it? More so
than any that I can even remotely remember in the past,
maybe ten years, I think so. I think part of
the reason is, uh, the format is different this year
to the point where it's not going to drag on
and on and on and on and wrote a bunch
of players wings like usually what happened in the past.
But because there's so many electric power hitters in the game,

(01:36:05):
you know, it's set up to the point where the
Yankees Aaron Judge and the Miami Bottle of Gian Carlos
Stanton are going to be in the finals. That could happen.
And wouldn't that be something to those two big, big
home run hitters squaring off at the end for the
for the title. But yeah, there's a lot of buzz
because the Cody Ballinger, Stanton, Judge mcgelson, no, the Twins

(01:36:27):
is going to be a guy that can really blastom
home runs too. So yeah, there's a there's it's amazing
baseball has become a home run or strikeout type game,
and the home run derby just accents it. But I
agree with you. I think this is very exciting on
a number of levels. Mel anton In Sirius x m
MLB reporter joining us here on Fox Sports Radio Dan
Buyer Jonas Knox in for Doug Gottlieb. But mel I

(01:36:48):
heard you this past weekend on Fox Sports Radio with
Andy Ferman and Brian no and you alluded to something
that I thought was fascinating because I hadn't heard anybody
talk about this before. There's been this conversation, is the
baseball used? Is there is there something going on with
the baseballs? What is what is happening with the grip
of the baseball from the minor league level to the

(01:37:09):
major league level that you were alluding to last weekend, Well,
what pitchers are talking about is that the seams aren't
they don't stand up was tall on a big league
baseball and when they go to the minor leagues. There's
pitchers I've talked to that have gone back to the
miners that come back up and the balls are different.
The scenes are a little higher in the minor leagues,
which gives pictures and advantage in the big leagues. According

(01:37:29):
to pitchers is that it's like throwing golf balls there,
you know, pool balls, eight ball type thing at hitters,
and so there's a there's a real but the fact
that home runs are storing and there's a consensus that, uh,
that the balls are juiced. Major League Baseball won't admit it,
but I talked to four or five pitchers in the

(01:37:50):
last couple of weeks. It said they believe the balls
are juiced, and they believe the balls are different than
in the minor leagues. And you know, that's you know,
we've had these discussed it's for years, but this year
in particular, with home runs going out all over the place, Uh,
that's what people are talking about, at least in the clubhouse.
Why isn't this getting more publicity. Why aren't more people
talking about this? Because if this were happening in any

(01:38:12):
other sport, to where the quality, the difference between the
ball used in play was different from one from one
level to the next, that's a big deal and we're
not hearing anything about it. Just to general, all the
balls are juiced. No, it's not, You're just being paranoid.
I think it's you know, that's a good question. I
might be just a lack of reporters. It might be

(01:38:33):
the fact that, you know, people who generally would do
those types of stories are being laid off at newspapers
across I actually, it might be a lack of reporters.
It might be that when when when that story comes up,
it's a little bit tired because we have been debating
it since, you know, in the last twenty years or
something like that. But you know, you can get players
to say it um off the record. I don't think

(01:38:55):
there's gonna be a lot of pictures that say it
I'm the record, because it looks like if I'm a
picture in the big Leagus and I say, gee, the
balls are juiced, it looks like I'm making an excuse. Yeah,
but that's a good question. I think. I think, you know,
lack of reporting and the fact that so many reporters,
you know, good solid experience reporters are getting set back
all the time. I think that might be part of it.

(01:39:16):
A good question. Mel Anson and joining us here on
Fox Sports already, I'm gonna throw this out there you
mentioned twenty years ago. I remember when they cut open
baseballs trying to prove that it wasn't juiced, and we
never even looked at the players, you know, So it
almost feels like you're being fooled if you want to
believe in that it's the actual baseball and maybe something
you know, not as much the players that we're talking

(01:39:37):
about the equipment, because that has always been my biggest takeaways.
We're sitting there sawing open baseballs to see why Mark McGuire,
you know, just hit seventy home runs in a season,
And I think that's a dangerous road to go down
to because all of a sudden, if you're a reporter,
maybe maybe your turn, maybe it may appear that you're
looking away from maybe other things that could be causing
the high rate of home runs could be you know,

(01:39:59):
but you know, what's the drug testing policy that's in
place now with the basic agreement, you know, there's reason
to believe that players aren't being tested. When players are
being tested, So to that standpoint, there's probably really no
proof that if they were, if they're an ironclad, you
know type proof that said this guy's taking steroids and
this guy's taking steroids. I'm sure if a reporter found
out and it was solid, solid evidence, it would be reported.

(01:40:23):
But you know there are ways. Just because there's a
drug testing policy in place the owners and the players
have agreed, it doesn't mean there aren't new methods to
mask taking steroids. I'm not saying players are taking steroids.
I'm just saying that baseball has to constantly be updating
it's drug testing policy because there are good chemists out

(01:40:44):
there that can configure out a way around it. It's
like a tax loophole, you can you can figure out
ways to do it in Baseball has to be vigilant
to fix that. I mean, they got a good drug
testing policy now, but there isn't anybody in baseball. Guys,
there's anybody in baseball. It wouldn't say that they have
to keep moving and they have to keep improving. Mel
Anton and joining us last one for you, mel As,
we talk baseball here in for Doug Gottlieb on Fox

(01:41:06):
Sports Radio after the All Star Game, then we start
talking trades. Yesterday there was a report from our friend
John Morosie of Fox Sports saying the Cardinals could be
interested in Josh Donaldson if he becomes available. Justin Verlander's
name has been brought up as possibly him leaving Detroit.
What team or what player is going to have the
biggest headliner or grabbing the most interest as we approach

(01:41:29):
that July thirty one deadline. Well, I think right now,
I think Justin Verlander is primed to be traded. He's
got a big contract, twenty million dollars left, and it
looks like the Tigers are going nowhere, and it looks
like the Tigers are in need of a rebuild. If
you're the Cubs, or if you're any other team in
contention to need pitching, you have to look at that.
You have to test the market. You have to call
the Tigers and see, um, you know, see see see

(01:41:52):
what the price is. So Justin Berlanders one, Garrett Cole
and Fitzburg Pirates could be another. There's a lot of
pictures out there. All you have to do is at
teams that are out of the race can have some
big name players that are controllable for a couple of years,
and and that that's how trade rumors start. But having
said that, there are teams that are on the bubble.
Minnesota Twins are a good example, um that the market

(01:42:15):
hasn't developed quite yet, and so you know, if the
twins are on the bubble well Urban Santana, their best
pitch would be trading. He could he could bring back
a lot, given that he's under control for the next
year and a half. I don't know. You know, everybody
wants to know right now how the market is going
to shape up, and my feeling is, after talking to

(01:42:35):
general managers and people around, the market hasn't started to
take shape yet. You know, for instance, the Houston Astros
need pitching, but they're gonna wait a couple of weeks,
see Charlie Martin and Colin MQ can come back from injury.
That will determine what they will pay him, what they
will look for in the market. He could lose every
game on of those couple of weeks and still be
in first place. Thanks so much, Mall. You can find

(01:42:59):
him on Twitter at melt Anton and we'll do it
again soon. Thanks guys for having me information. Yeah, man,
that that stuff with the seems like the fact that
the ball is just different from one level to the
next and nobody's talking about it. That's a big deal, man,
Like a seam is everything on a baseball It's how
they determine their grip. It's everything to a picture, and
they're just not there at the next level. It's unbelieved.

(01:43:22):
It's as big of a deal as you make it seem.
I'm just looking for something to talk about in the
overnight stand when I do a weekend show. Okay, listen,
I'm trying to pull how about there was no pun this,
you know, as you make it seem. Yes, Yes, I
was just I was just kidding to Dan Buyer, Jonas

friend David Gascott the press. Dave's here to present us

(01:44:29):
with the stories that we may have missed. Maybe then
touch on enough and what's really happening in the world
of sports right now. We'll kick things off in the NBA.
European point guard and Milosodo Sitch to your deal with
the l A Clippers were twelve point three million dollars.
Important note on this, The second year of his deal
is a player option. New teammate Patrick Beverley twitter out

(01:44:50):
today on Tyodositch quote he might be the best pastor
in the NBA right now, end quote, but as Doug said,
he can't defend. So if you could say Patrick Beverley
and Theodosach and combine him into one player, I'd be
one heck of a guy that you got there. I
actually disagree. I don't think. I don't think he's the
best passing point guard. And in fact, coming up later, Dan,

(01:45:11):
I've got my top eleven passive point guards in the
NBA that I will release here at Fox Sports Radio.
Sticking with the NBA, Mark spirits to it out just
a few minutes ago. With the Lakers interest dying on
both sides, Jamal Crawford could be heading to Minnesota Cleveland
over the nation's capital after a buyouts. I've always liked

(01:45:32):
Jamal Crawford as a player. Um also maybe a very
one sided guy, a volume shooter, but Um defensively could
leave a lot to be desired. But if he was
to be in Cleveland, I think you would offer scoring
if they wanted to make one last push for the
calves Um. I wonder what the Wizards are gonna do
to try to get over that hump, to try to
advance in the Eastern Conference. That's a guy who whatever

(01:45:53):
he decides to First of all, he can still play,
and he his his his handle, his dribble. You like
that little jive there, Dan his hand. You know, his
handle is as good as anybody in the league. But
I've heard from everybody that he's one of the nicest
guys in the NBA. And his broadcasting career, he's gonna
have a ton of success, and so maybe he wants
to go someplace where those are gonna be some other

(01:46:14):
opportunities as well. He's actually may take over the John
Ramo Show at some point. Yeah, true story, staying with
the league, and I guess the chapter from what the
hell Zach Randolph getting his jersey retired sorry announced by
the Memphis Grizzly is in an open letter to Randolph
from general manager Chris Wallace and President of business Operations

(01:46:37):
Jason Wexler. They say, nobody in the organization's history will
ever again don the number five. Oh yeah, because nobody
wears the number fifteen basketball. Give me a break. It's like, oh,
We've decided to retire Dennis Rodman's jersey. Yeah, nobody wears
ninety one. I remember in high school, you got a
set of jerseys and it was twenty four, then three,

(01:47:03):
and thirty four. So it was like all the centers
and big guys got forty two, forty three, and forty four,
and then the guards like we're all smalls in the twenties.
That's how they did it. Yeah. I was my sophomore
year when I was playing high school football, my home
jersey was thirty and on the road. I was eighty five.
They had they had no duplicates, There were no duplicates,

(01:47:25):
and we did that different number. John Ramos wants to
chime in, Yeah, quickly. My number in high school was four.
I took twelve in high school football my junior year
because that'd be the first name on the program. True story,
first one right on top. Twelve was the lowest number
we have. You know what number I always wanted in bags,

(01:47:50):
guys would go from and go from the NBA to
Major League Baseball. New York Post is reporting to that
Derek Jeter might be a few bucks short of core.
To the outlet, the Miami Marlins bidder, I guess is
losing one of its big billionaire backers. Chicago billionaire Richard
Chavits has actually pulled out of the partnership with Derek Jeter.

(01:48:11):
The reason why he's uncomfortable with Jeter seeking control while
not investing much money into the team. Okay, Jeff Bush
pulled out earlier and then joined the other bid that
featured Mitt Romney's son and Tom Glavin, So that put
a kink into Jeter's plans. Now, this um, this is
going to be a a This is not going to

(01:48:32):
happen for Derek Jeter, and the guy that is the
happiest is Alex Rodriguez. The Derek Jeter won't be owning
the team in his own town. By the way, if
Romney's first name wasn't Mitt would even be discussed about
as being a baseball owner. His son, Yeah, yeah, I
get you, I get you, I get you. You got
Jeter looking for one point three billion dollars to buy

(01:48:54):
the Marlins. Jeffrey Lauria back in two thousand two bought
the club for a hundred and fifty eight and a
half million dollars. The other Romney kids are named Rosin
Pepper and you had to get that in there. Simon
and Schuster announced in a press release to the Music
that they've acquired the Ryans to thed Be twelve Method

(01:49:17):
How to Achieve a Lifetime of Sustained Peak Performance, which
were released on a hardcover edition, digital and audio formats
as well Highland The Career of One Tom Brady, Ah
Tom Brady Book I'll Tell You What Music. Not as
good once Shuster replaced car Funkele, but still pretty good
and now able to add books to the resume. I

(01:49:38):
don't need to read another book about Tom Brady? What
about an audio book you want to maintain a lifestyle
of like peak performance? Hello steroids? Is that? Like? What's
wrong with that? Hd H? Anybody? You just go to
it when you're next time here at the gym. Just
tap your foot under the stalls. See what happens. When

(01:50:00):
is the last time do you read a lot? Do
you read a lot? Sorry to transition, John do you
read a lot? Sometimes? Yeah? When when was the last
time you read a book? Earlier? Today? In the completed
a blog book? A blog like high school? Maybe catching

(01:50:21):
the right I used to get the ring magazine, the
boxing magazine. Does that count? It does? Yeah? For the
pictures anyway, I'm more of a a visual guy, you know,
Like yeah, I probably shouldn't say that on the air.
Last book I read was actually the autobiography of Ernie Johnson, unscripted.
Fantastic book. I know Jonas won't be big into it.

(01:50:43):
It's a lot of spiritual things. I guess one could say.
I am still two years in on a book. Um
that I'm on page six two, page sixty two on
book six. It's a golf book. Literally, Oh what is it?
I think I might have read it. I think you wrote, Jonas,
what's it called. It's called It's called The Rough Times. Okay, alright,

(01:51:09):
there's also a dog book called The Rough Times. Life
isn't always fair ways. By the way, a lot of
people think that I'm the golf guy, the expert here.
Dan's really good at this, all right, Dan, what golfer
do you have like a master's theme music? We could
like we have a live studio band here and they've
got we probably do have a Ramos drop though to

(01:51:29):
immediately see there it is suffice. All right, So Dan,
here's a little golf quick golf trivia before we got
a break. All right, this is and you're really always
good at this, which professional golfer once said this. The
greens were really fast. Today keeps so good, I know it.

(01:51:55):
The Oscars music replacing the master's music for John Ramo
saw that band Simon and Schuster. All Simon just doesn't
sing as much anymore. Oh, well done, all right, Dan Buyer,
Jonas Knox in for Doug Gottlievi here Fox Sports Radio.
Listen on the I Heart Radio app. Get John Ramos
on Twitter at j S Ramos zero eight No. Six.

(01:52:21):
John actually six six up. Next, though, we are going
to do something that is really really mean. It's it's
probably actually kind of cruel. It's one of the biggest
honors you can receive in sports, and we're going to
completely make fun of it. That's next. It sure is.
I'm Dan Buyer, that's Jonas Knox, He's John Ramos in

(01:52:44):

were able to join in with the fun. Doug will
be hanging around tomorrow, still in Israel's team USA will
be competing. Hit us up on Twitter or whatever you want.
I'm at Dan Buyer on Fox. Jonas they can get
you at at d Jonas Knacks, John Ramos at js
Ramos zero six. Can always listen to us on the

(01:53:04):
Heart radio app and Serious six Channel three. The NFL
season is just around the corner, and guys, heads up,
if you didn't remember, Not only is there going to
be a change with the Hall of Fame game happening
before the ceremony takes place, it's gonna be on a
Thursday night. So when the Cowboys and Cardinals open up
the preseason, they'll play the Hall of Fame game on

(01:53:26):
a Thursday night. With all of the festivities to take
place afterwards, with the induction ceremony coming up on the
Saturday of that weekend. Now will the field melt? That's
really all I need to know, is the field going
to melt? The field should be good because they won't
have to paint a new logo that then hardens and
that nobody can end up taking part in or playing.

(01:53:48):
That was fascinating television to watch as they were trying
to kill time. Meanwhile, the Librea tar pits behind them
were turning into a volcano. And and Aaron Rodgers is
out there doing like an interviewed. He has no interest
in being there. He just wants to leave. Nobody wants
to play the game, and it's hot as balls and
can'ton Ohio. The ceremony will take place August five, with
the induction ceremonies two days after the Cowboys and Cardinals,

(01:54:10):
and the Cowboys and Cardinals fitting because there is some
flavor from both teams. Jerry Jones, the Cowboys owner, will
be inducted into the Pro Football of Fame. Former Cardinals
quarterback Kurt Warner is also going to be enshrined. They
are two of seven that will enter the Hall of Fame.
And we found out yesterday who's going to present these
seven into the Hall of Fame and some interesting names

(01:54:32):
in Jonas you came up with the idea that's up.
Let's just put in a little different spin. While these
Hall of famers soon to be Hall of Famers get
to pick the perfect person to help enshrine them. You thought,
let's pick the absolute worst person to I just think
that that's better for everybody involved. And by everybody, I
mean you and I Dan. What's gonna make a more

(01:54:52):
entertaining for us something we can talk about? So if
you had control, the longer we get to do this,
the more you realize it's all about interesting story lines.
That makes it, you know, easier to do the job.
And so I mean, it's nice that Morton Anderson has
chosen Sebastian Anderson, his son, to be his his presenter
at the Hall of Fame. How about Gary Anderson? Could
we get Gary Anderson in? Possibly remember Gary Anderson in

(01:55:16):
the NFC title game? He missed, Morton Anderson made it
and that's why he was in a super Bowl. So
I just think that that would be something. Kurt Warner
has decided his wife, Brenda's best suited to obviously they're
very close and a great marriage. And um, Trent Green,
anybody could we get Trent Green to the presenting? Okay,
let's not remember where we came from here. Do you

(01:55:37):
remember when we had we had Anderson and asked I
asked him if he felt bad for Gary Anderson missing
the kick and no, not at all, like he No,
Like I thought maybe there would be some like you know,
kicker Bond in that NFC title game. No, absolutely not.
Morton Anderson was totally fine with it. And Morten Anderson
also acknowledged that like going back to where where he

(01:56:00):
was at that time in his life, you know, younger,
like he wishes he would have partied his ass off
of the Yeah, you know, I gotta be honest. I
wish I would have just gotten after it a little bit.
You know, we're in South Beach on a teammate got
arrested for a hooker, So why couldn't I partake in
some of the fun um. Also, so you saw that
Jason Taylor, it was choosing Jimmy Joss. That was that

(01:56:21):
was unique? Hello Joy Taylor? Yes, yes, a little Fox
Sports love can can we can you know, get a
get Fox Sports a little bit of love during that
would be great, is if she did. And then Skip
and Shannon are on both sides, so they're all on
stage Jason Taylor and he's being enshrined debating whether Jason
Taylor was worthy of getting into the to the undisputed

(01:56:43):
music is his entrance music? Mercy um? Now do you
think Jason Taylor does the thing where he in in
the air after he would get a sack, he'd make
a box and then punched through it in the air.
And remember when he used to do that, he punched
through it. Do you think he'll do that during I
would say yes. If I was a betting man, I
would say yes for one last time. What better place

(01:57:04):
to do it than on the stage in Canton, Ohio?
Ladanian Tomlinson? What would make for the most awkward presenter
for lad Tom? I think that Lorenz O'Neil is is
the right choice. He's fullback, but Lorenzo O'Neil should stand
in front of him because he is the fullback during
the whole thing. So Ladanian Tomlinson would have to be
about four yards and back of the mic. I think

(01:57:25):
that still would work. If you're really going to do
it in a fitting way. Now, are they also going
to on his Hall of Fame bust? Are they going
to put a toilet seat around his neck since he
basically played in a toilet majority of his career at Qualcom?
But I don't think it's gonna I don't think that's
gonna be a part of the bust either. I don't
think that's going to be there. Okay, Jerry Jones, his

(01:57:46):
wife Jane Jones John Gene Jones spell it g E
A and j O n E s Okay, no wrong?
Is she actually spells it like gene g e n e,
but not j E A n like John came closer
to spelling June Jones. Just John spelled Dean. If you

(01:58:06):
g E A and different, you know that's how about
Greg Hardy? Can Greg Hardy? He's not doing anything little
Greg Hardy introducing Jerry Jones there. I think the Cowboy
bus should roll in and then everybody pours out of it.
And by everyone we mean everyone you mean Dean Blandino
and whoever else may be on that bus. That's the
way to do it.
